Current is the flow of electric charge through a circuit measured in amps. In a series circuit, the current is the same through all components, while in parallel the current splits across branches. Voltage is the potential difference of electric charge between two points and is measured in volts. In series circuits, voltage drops across components, while in parallel circuits all components have the same voltage. Voltage causes current to flow; voltage can exist without current but current cannot flow without an applied voltage.
