Flaws In Othello
The flaws within the human condition engage audiences through the dramatic treatment of these flaws
despite the transversal shift of time. The flaws in humanity offer an insight within the dramatic
treatments of it. The works of Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Othello the Moor of Venice continues to
captivate audiences through time proving its relatability to today s society just as it had been during to
the Elizabethan audience. This is due to the relatability through the exploration of the universal flaws
within humanity and the treatment of it through the themes racism and jealousy. The use of play
techniques constructs a continuous engagement in audiences despite the contextual shifts of time.
The portrayal of Othello exploits the racism embedded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through Iago s similarity to Machiavellian tactics, Iago is known as the master of deceptions in
Othello s downfall. Iago s deceiving nature is expressed in, I follow him to serve my turn upon him.
Exploits the duplicitous nature of Iago in allusion to Janus, the roman god of two faces where Iago
believes that in order to gain power, he needs Othello s trust. This explores one s ability to be
duplicitous in order to act in return for a greater gain. The gardening analogy, We will plant nettles...
either have it sterile with idleness or manured with industry, why the power and corrigible authority of
this lies in our wills. Displays Iago s role as the gardener through his ability to manipulate and plant
seeds of doubt and jealousy within Othello in order to manipulate him and stir the jealousy within him
through his love for his wife, Desdemona. Critical theorist Samual Taylor Colerigde describes Iago as
being next to the devil and only not quite the devil in reference of the irony, Honest Iago reflects the
destructive nature of jealousy and how it can lead one, who many believe to be noble to extremes just
to obtain what they believe they deserve through Iago s ability to gain trust from the other characters.
Driven by jealousy, manipulation is born and in order to obtain one s desires, one is willing to go to
extreme to take what they

Essay On Safe Ag Safe Schools
In an increasingly globalized and populated world the need for a more robust and productive food
output is a necessary development. Pesticides and fumigants make it possible for growers and farmers
to have more abundant and fruitful crop yield. However, the chemicals used to aid in food productivity
are often understudied and under researched. The Salinas Valley, also known as the Salad Bowl of the
United States, generates more than $8.1 billion annually to the local economy, and it employs over
76,000 people in the area due to the agriculture industry present here (Farm Bureau Monterey, np).

The Dow Chemical Company specializes in agricultural chemicals such as pesticides. I used the
pesticides listed on their website to cross reference what pesticides are being used in Salinas and in the
town of Monte Maiz in Argentina. Monte Maiz is a town that has been plagued with cancer and
neurological damages to pregnant mothers fetuses because of the high concentration and persistence
of pesticides in the community. Through cross referencing chemicals I found that the insecticide
Lorsban 48 E, also known as chlorpyrifos, is used on the soybean crops in Argentina (DOW
AgroSciences, np). Here in the Salinas Valley the same chemical, chlorpyrifos, is being used on apple
orchards primarily in Watsonville, a city here in the county. The consequences and effects of
chlorpyrifos being used in Monte Maiz illustrate the potential ramifications of the use of this harmful
chemical. Due to a director at the local hospital in Monte Maiz noticing increases in patients with
cancer, an organization, the Network for the Protection of Health and Environment, conducted
research on the town. The team concluded, One of the most significant findings obtained from the
survey was that while the expectation of new cancer cases in Monte Maiz was 11 per year, in 2014 the
town had 35 cases three times as many. The town also had five times the national average of
spontaneous abortions and 50% of children between six and seven years had respiratory

Fice Of Community Policing Essay
Mission statement, The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services of the U.S. Department of
Justice describes community policing as, community policing focuses on crime and social disorder
through the delivery of police services that includes aspects of traditional law enforcement, as well as
prevention, problem solving, community engagement, and partnerships. The community policing
model balances reactive responses to calls for service with proactive problem solving centered on the
causes of crime and disorder. Community policing requires police and citizens to join together as
partners in the course of both identifying and effectively addressing these issues.
First, a brief history of community policing and its roots where this brilliant plan was seeded and
bloomed the way it is in today s local policing. According to Gayle Fisher Stewart, PHD and lead
author in, Community Policing Explained: A Guide For Local Governments , briefly gives his
audience a history lesson. He backtracks all the way to the Police Department which first enforced

My Personal Reasoning For Choosing Nursing
Becoming a nurse offers a great opportunity to improve the way an individual s thoughts process, by
converting from a creative thinker to a critical thinker. This facilitates the general care levels of people
and gives a positive atmosphere in the environment. In this essay I will explain and describe my
personal reasoning s for choosing nursing as a career; the skills, qualities and inspirations that I have
obtained throughout my life which have influenced me. Also describing the importance and benefits of
reflective practice for nurses, discussing how I will use it in my career as a nurse. Nursing, for me
specifically is the perfect career which suits what I would enjoy and last in as a lifetime occupation.
Influences through family and friends have given me a great idea of what nursing is like in hospitals
and age care facilities, I have been educated to constantly provide and offer others care and aid
towards the people around me. Providing this type of positive atmosphere delivers a constructive build
on my self motivation and self confidence, this is fulfilling and exciting to me. Another reason that has
motivated myself to pursue in the career of nursing is that it offers a perfect opportunity to make a
huge difference in other people s lives. Pleasing the people around me provides myself with
inspiration, giving a positive impact in their lives sustains my happiness. In the recent year and a half,

Comparing The Third Wish And The Monkey s Paw
Some people think that if they could only change one aspect of their lives, it would be perfect. They
do not realize that anything that is changed could come with unintended consequences. The Monkey s
Paw by W.W. Jacobs and The Third Wish by Joan Aiken both illustrate this theme. They demonstrate
this by granting the main character three wishes, but with each wish that is granted, brings undesirable
consequences. The main idea of this essay is to compare and contrast The Monkey s Paw and The
Third Wish. Although the The Monkey s Paw and The Third Wish are both fantasies and have similar
themes, they have different main characters, wishes, and resolutions. A good story, whether it is true,
made up, or somewhere in between, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although regretting wishing another wish, Mr. White wishes Herbert, his son, to be alive again.
Unfortunately, Mr. White realizes that Herbert will return in his mutilated form, so he quickly wishes
for Herbert to return to the grave before his wife is traumatized. As Mr. White and his wife look out at
an empty street, awaiting Herbert s arrival, they are heartbroken knowing that they will probably never
see Herbert again. Unlike Mr. White s first wish, Mr. Peters wishes for a wife as beautiful as the
forest. However, Mr. Peters apprehends that Leita, his wife, will never be satisfied being a human,
because she longs to be with her swan sister. So, for his second wish, he wishes her back to swan
form. Now, without Leita Mr. Peters, as well as Mr. White, is heartbroken and a lonely man, once
again. Now, understanding that wishes only lead to misfortune, he decides not to use the third wish.
The end of a story, when all loose ends are tied and the reader knows what happens to the character(s),
can be described as the resolution. The theme of a story often goes along with the resolution as well.
The Monkey s Paw resolution is rather dark. Mr. White and his wife are heartbroken staring at an
empty street, knowing that they will never see their son again. The theme is if fate ruled people s lives,
and those who interfere with it do to their own sorrow. Overall, The Third Wish is much more of

A License Should Be Required To Be A Parent
From everyday experiences to recent news stories, I have come across many issues that large families
face in America. Poverty and child abuse are top issues in the United States. For this reason, I believe
the government should start regulating the number of children people can have based on financial
stability, place of residence, criminal history, and other qualifications. The ideal American family
image is one that provides parents that gracefully accommodate and nurture their children with open
arms, financial cohesion, warm meals, and a roof over their heads. Although one might think these
characteristics are a given, they are not as common as the general population widely assumes. There
are many individuals deemed unfit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, there is no way a test or skill assessment could predict illnesses, or things that could change
living situations in the future. However, predicting if a parent would be ideal to start a family and raise
children is possible. Being certified before having children can benefit both families and the economy.
The license would ensure that the parents in question have enough resources to afford children, and
will require a full background and criminal history check to evaluate their skills as a parent. Multiple
skill sets play a factor. Previous incarcerations and financial resources play a crucial role as people
who have been criminally negligent beforehand have the tendency to commit another crime. This
thorough skill assessment will be kept on record. Moreover, there is a strategic interview and
background check on those who wish to adopt. We do not let just anyone adopt a child, nor do we go
without checking up on his or her history to predict the likelihood of that person being a good
candidate for a parent. There are forms to be filled out, house inspection, and an overview of their
income to make sure they are suitable to take in and care for this child. According to a study published
by the Child Welfare League of America, despite

The World Needs Abortion Essay
One of the most important philosophical issues ever concerns the definition of a person and who is
able to feel. Abortion, which is a deliberate termination of pregnancy, is one of the most important
practical applications of that issue. Life on Earth is threatened with destruction from overpopulation
and the poverty that overpopulation causes. Fortunately, abortion can prevent overpopulation. The
question about whether abortion should be done is primarily the question about whether the embryo or
fetus is a person. In most cases, the embryo weighs less than 100grams: less than 10% of human brain.
Abortion should be legal since it is useful and since humans become conscious after birth, not before.
Values for Human Society
People are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If an embryo that does not feel is terminated, then the conscious object, a person, is never created. Not
creating a person is not immoral: When people are not having sex, they are not creating a person. If
the society has an optimum population, the net benefit (benefit minus harm) of an extra person will on
average be zero.
Practical Effects of Abortion
The world has a problem of overpopulation, not under population. The environmental problems occur
largely because too many people exist and strain the natural resources. Thus, not creating an extra
person is on average good for the society. (If creating a person would on average be good, then more
people should be created, and the population size is too small, not too large.) In abortion, when a
mother chooses not to create a person, the person is unwanted and thus probably should not be
created.
Much of the poverty found throughout the world is caused by having too many children. Abortion
prevents that and thus reduces poverty. Poverty contributes to crime. Therefore, abortion reduces
crime. Unfortunately, the government in the USA does not support abortion for poor people.
A serious defect in an embryo gives additional reasons for its termination. For example, Down
syndrome is a severe congenital disorder that is a major cause of mental retardation, worldwide.
(Cozic 138) Fortunately, fetal testing (with abortion) can prevent it. If the couple with a defective
embryo is

Muscle Car, two distinctive cars come to mind, the Camaro and the Mustang. Throughout the era of
the early 1950 s and 1960 s, there was a revolutionary movement that took place and paved the ground

the ponycar era, and watch their pain. They will describe cars that would light the tires on fire, floor it,
and hang onto the wheel excitement. Back in the 1960 s a new idea was soon to hit the American

Camaro was first introduced back in 1967, it was not thought very much of. The Ford Mustang had
been out on the market now for quite some time and had made a very good impression on its buyers
and the spectators. After General Motors pushed the sales campaign and got the first few buyers to
commit they were hooked from day one. The word of mouth quickly spread of the sheer enjoyment of
the Camaro vs. the Mustang. The Chevrolet Camaro provided a cheaper and better all around
alternative to the Mustang. The Camaro came with loads more options and not to mention the stand

the Camaro. The Camaro was able to astonish the buyers with loads of power, given the time period,
for a cheaper price of the Mustang. Chevrolet too competes with Ford in the bigger and better race to a

Ebay Strategic Analysis

This will be done through the analysis of eBay s competitive environment using the Porter s 5 forces
and positioning in the industry using the BCG portfolio matrix. Following which, we will proceed to
identify the sustainable competitive advantages of eBay using the resource based view of the firm. The
core competence of eBay will also be discussed. Through an overview of the above mentioned
analyses, we will propose recommendations to address the problem faced by eBay.

However, it should be noted that not all webhosting companies are able to host the colossal traffic
required by eBay. In addition, eBay would preferably choose a webhosting option that is reliable and
offers round the clock customer service since people conduct business over eBay round the clock.
Next, there is a moderate threat of substitute services. More and more offline companies are tapping
on the vast potential of the online market through the creation of their online retail sites. For example,
if someone wants to get a Dell computer, he may choose to go to Dell s online store to purchase it.
However, the uniqueness of the online auction site is that almost everything under the sun can be
listed for sale. If a person is looking to buy something special, he can more often than not find it listed
on eBay.
Lastly, there is a great intensity of rivalry among the competitors in the industry. Because of the
potentially lucrative market in Asia, there are many competitors wanting a slice of the pie and that
includes search engine giant, Google. In China, Alibaba owned Taobao is already providing intense
competition by providing zero listing costs and providing customer service catered to the needs of the
local population[2]. In Korea, Gmarket is also providing intense competition by continuously
introducing new marketing initiatives such as the lucky lottery where buyers may be able to purchase
an item for 10% of its retail

The Use Of Positive Emotion Building Exercises
Cultivating gratitude in students through the use of positive emotion building exercises will differ
between year levels as a students ability to personally reflect / contribute and understand is continually
developing. One cannot expect a student in reception to write an explicitly detailed gratitude letter.
However, with teacher directed guidance, a group sharing activity involving What Went Well can
certainly be beneficial to those who participate (Seligman et al. 2009). The use of the following
exercises depends predominantly on the ability of the students, and what exercise could be utilised
most greatly to enhance the positive emotion of gratitude.

What did I give? What trouble and difficulties did I cause to others? Indeed, a sincere reflection is not
an easy task as it requires individuals to have a willingness to face our mistakes, but when done so
properly, it can be highly beneficial for students (Waters 2014).
Gratitude Journal:
This exercise can be in conjunction with What Went Well or it can be completed separately on its own.
The practice of journalling allows individuals to ponder what they are currently grateful for, ranging
from the simplistic to the lavish experiences. Research has shown that individuals who have partaken
in weekly gratitude journalling increased their overall happiness and gratitude, and were more likely
to obtain goals regarding academic performance (Chan 2010 Seligman 2011).
The Gratitude Visit / Letter:
Although this exercise may only improve momentary wellbeing, Boniwell (2012) argues that it should
not be shunned. The task of writing a gratitude letter idolising an individual you are grateful for and
sharing it personally cannot only strengthen the relationship between the two individuals, but also
increase overall life satisfaction and happiness (Boniwell 2012 Seligman 2011).
Through the inclusion of the positive emotion building exercises mentioned, and the educators ability
to successfully implement these exercises into the students school practice, it is assumed that the
wellbeing and essence of

Western world view is similar, if not exactly to what is seen in the world today. Monchalin (2016)
describes how the Euro centric idea surrounding income and economy is based on individualized gain

success and obtain more wealth and privilege than others. Leadership for Western views were
structured in a way where the power was at the top and everyone under had little to no say, and must
follow the commands of the leader (Monchalin, 2016). These views of individualized gain,
competitiveness, and outright powers of leaders directly correlates to their view on justice. Since
Western views of justice value the individual over the rest of society, the criminal justice system has
been structured to ignore others. For example, Monchalin (2016) described how in today s world,
polluting a water source results in a fine at most, whereas in First Nations society it is much more

Everyday Experience, Suggests Edgerton, Like Documentary,
Everyday experience, suggests Edgerton, like documentary, arises from the interplay of two realms;
one hidden and one perceived. This duality, encompassing both the darkroom of the film developer
and dark theater where the film is screened, pertains not only to documentary but to life as we live it.
Masked by our inherent inability to see, and curled inside timescales we cannot untangle, a bizarre
world plays out, contained by, yet isolated from that which we live in (Edgerton. 1970 1 2).
Nevertheless, this domain remains intimately connected to ours, accessible only through the lens of

is especially evident during the scene in which Edgerton shows lengthy uninterrupted clips of the
hummingbird s flight accompanied by title screens with sentences like the wings beat 50 times a

language an underlying appreciation for the beauty that accompanies the facts in timescales much

In our investigation of Edgerton s film, it is also useful to classify its fundamental purpose. Although it
is impossible to know definitively, Seeing the Unseen is most likely intended to serve as a statement
of Edgerton s research results, but as such, it implicates several vital nuances. First, because this
documentary was created by Edgerton to present his revelations to fellow academics and the greater
public, it necessarily sought to portray only the favorable portions of his technology and not those
which were inadequate or required improvement. In this way, we encounter the first nuance within
truth s complex affiliation with documentary.

My Education Is Important And Important Aspects Of Education
My education remains important to me because it the key component of my successful future as an
individual. The experiences I have been through, from elementary school to high school, have opened
my eyes to the different types of education different schools have to offer. The schools that I have
been to have required me to go through change that takes time. I have always been considerate of class
because the schools that I have been to include students from all social classes. I keep this in mind
when I try to connect with other students. I try to make myself more approachable and productive with
them, because there are certain conflicts that may make it difficult to successfully communicate with
them. This has also interfered with my actual education as well, because I need to be considerate of
my teachers as well. Class within education brings in many factors that put us within a group of
individuals that may have a different experience with education compared to other of different classes.
I attended Paramus Catholic high school, and the change from elementary school was very dramatic.
This high school had about 1500 students when I joined, so making new friends was quite difficult. I
was told that everyone at my school was friendly, but I didn t believe it. I saw students from all
different towns and all different social classes. I needed to make friends who I could relate to, because
there were simply too many students in my school to become companions with. My first approach was
to find other students of the same race as me, Filipino. The first two friends I made in high school
were both Filipino, and it was easy to converse with them. After talking to them for a few days, I
learned that one of them was in the working class, and the other was very wealthy. I assumed that
becoming friends with them was only easy because we could connect through our backgrounds, and
the idea of class division still frightened me. Afraid of making new friends, I took on the challenges of
high school on my own, with no help from any of my classmates. I felt that I could be independent,
especially after my parents told me to put school before friends. As a result, I stayed up late at night

Phytonutrients are manufactured in pants where they are in turn utilized by humans to avoid various

phytonutrient that is often found in tomatoes and other fruits with red pigmentation. Lycopene is also
fundamental to the growth and development of plants as it plays an essential role in the biosynthesis of
various types of carotenoids. The chemical compound does this by interrupting any signals that are
likely to prolong or promote the generation of cancerous tumors. Lycopene can limit or slow down the
growth of prostate and breast cancer. This paper is aimed at highlighting the benefits of Lycopene to
both plants as well as humans in general.
Introduction
Also referred to as phytochemicals, phytonutrients include a range of chemicals, usually produced by
plants that are believed to have health benefits for both plant and animal species. Plants often utilize
these phytonutrients to promote their health in their growth and development. Some of the benefits
that plants are likely to derive from such chemicals include

Improvement
Without a doubt the different phases of the emergency could have benefited from exercise and
preparedness programs. All things considered, since there was neither record nor indication that
training exercises, specific to railway accidents, had been planned or conducted prior to the derailment
incident in February 2015. The incident itself thus became the exercise, yet prior to an incident it is
integral to ensure that a plan or procedure has been developed and tested.
In the city of Oxnard the emergency management duties fall under the local Fire Department, assigned

Nevertheless, the emergency phases don t stop at the response phases and as was seen in the review of
the incident there was a break down between agencies on scene during the recovery phase. Instead the
purpose of exercise training cycle is to determine can your community fully implement your
emergency operations plan? Of course since exercises are designed to test the community as a whole,
first responders must work together with the community, because neither entity can operate in
isolation from each other. A perfect example of this implementation of an exercise encompassing all
agencies that would be involved in a railway accident response occurred, shortly after the Oxnard train
derailment incident, in Riverside County, CA. Metrolink partnered with the Riverside County

Veterans Involvement In The Vietnam War
The Vietnam war was one of the most publicly hated wars in American history. The amount of people
killed and the amount of people declared MIA is unfathomable. These troops were never liked, never

war. Between 1955 to 1975 over 58,000 people were killed and 2,338 of those courageous men were
declared MIA. These men were practically covered up and forgotten about. The Vietnam war was the

Timothy Mcveigh Research Paper
On April 19, 1995, a man by the name of Timothy McVeigh carried out an attack that would leave the
United States, along with other countries, devastated. At 9:02 A.M, a truck bomb explosion outside of
the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, left 168 people dead and hundreds more
injured. Many people apprehend that McVeigh carried out this attack because he was mentally
unstable. He was actually thinking logically. McVeigh planned out the attack based on his life
experiences and by what he read in books. He retaliated against the government because of his
personal beliefs and he wanted to be recognized for the bombing. To begin with, Timothy McVeigh s
childhood most likely carved out how Mcveigh would eventually end up at some point later on down
the line. At the age of ten, McVeigh s parents divorced and his father continued to raise him in
Pendleton, New York ( Timothy ). Most who knew McVeigh remember him as being a very outgoing
and playful child who withdrew as an adolescent ( Timothy ). The fact his parents were divorced
might have had a major impact on McVeigh, which is also a reason why he might have withdrawn as
an adolescent. Also, at a young age McVeigh was introduced to firearms by his grandfather. He

Kelly Mcgonigal s How To Make Stress Your Friend
1.) Summary: Kelly McGonigal who is a health psychologist gives a thought provoking lecture called
How to Make Stress Your Friend at an official TED conference in June 2013. During the first part of
the presentation, Ms. McGonigal confesses to the crowd that she been teaching about stress
completely wrong, Basically, I ve turned stress into the enemy. But I have changed my mind about
stress... Ms. McGonigal emphasizes the point that people who view stress as not harmful (not their
enemy), were less likely to die to people who view stress as their enemy; therefore, when people
change their mind about stress, they can change their body response to stress to make them healthier.
As the presentation gets further along, Kelly McGonigal states how oxytocin plays a huge role in
controlling stress. This neuro hormone, which is released during stress, motivates you to seek support,

obstacle or barrier that might hinder this improvement would be human nature, because it s easy for

Human Resource Management and Regulations
HR Management and Regulations 1. Employment at Will Employment at Will law is highly relevant
to the Personnel Planning functions of Human Resources Management. Personnel Planning sometimes
involves the termination of competent and otherwise desirable employees due to financial or
organizational challenges coming from the employer s side. In at will employment relationship, the
employer and employee agree at the outset that the employer may terminate the employment
relationship for any time at any reason. In the case of at will employees, employers are not required to
show good cause for termination, meaning that they do not necessarily have to prove that the
employee did anything to deserve termination. Although at will employment seems to put tremendous
security and leverage in the hands of the employer, the termination of an at will employee can invite a
tremendous amount of legal trouble, particularly when the personal relationship and communication
between the employee and employer is not good. An at will employee who has demonstrated
competent performance on the job before being terminated could develop the belief that employer
made the termination decision based on something other than job performance or organizational
issues. Although at will employment law actually permits termination due to simple personal dislike, it
does not permit termination due to dislike based on the employee s gender, race, color, religion,
national origin, age, disability, status

The Origins Of Behavioral Modernity
The origins of behavioral modernity has been the topic of debates for many experts in the
anthropological field; however, there seems to be a consensus that behavioral modernity can be
characterized by abstract thinking, planning, symbolic behavior (e.g. art and ornamentation), use of
stone and blade technologies and many others. The use of abstract thought and symbolic
representation is one of the defining characteristics of humans. Creating art is a shared trait among all
human populations, and the ubiquity of art translates the value that all human cultures and groups
place on the creation of symbolic representation.
Earliest archeological findings for hominid art seems to be during the Upper Paleolithic Age with the
Homo sapiens about 40,000 years ago. Older possible examples of art could be the incised ochre in the
Blombos Caves; however, archeologists and anthropologists are still trying to decipher the reasoning
behind the motifs on the walls of the cave and whether to attribute the motifs to early humans. Art
created in the Upper Paleolithic Age have been found in Aurignacian Europe and the Levant, a large
area in the Eastern Mediterranean. The art dates to about 40,000 years ago, and on the island of
Sulawesi in Indonesia and certain areas of Africa, there is evidence suggesting that art may have
earlier origins (Indonesian Cave Paintings As Old As Europe s Ancient Art). Although most of the
Upper Paleolithic art did not survive erosion and other natural

possible because the very nature is that it is borderless and potentially global in scope. With e learning

Why Should We Adopt An English Name
At the start of class, the first item on the to do checklist of an instructor is to obtain an overall sum of

The Assassination Of Mother Teresa
It was September the 10th, 1964 and World war 2 had only just come to a conclusion. Mother Teresa
sat on a piping hot train, on a hot summers day in Calcutta. She tried taking up as little space as
possible to avoid being crowded which she was to a great extent and deeply swelter. She was on a
train from Calcutta to the Himalayan foothills for a retreat. On this train ride Christ spoke to Mother
Teresa. She referred to this as her second calling and in her words it was a vocation to give up, even at
Loreto where I was very happy, to go out into the streets to serve . I want Indian Nuns, Missionaries of
Charity, who would be my fire of love amongst the poor, the sick, the dying and the little children, she
heard Christ say to her on the train in those very words. You are I know the most incapable person
weak and sinful but just because you are that I want to use you for my glory. Wilt thou refuse? . A
sensation of happiness rushed through her, even though she had been called weak she was honoured.
She was very quick to share her vision with her supporters, friends and members of the Loreto sisters
that she worked with. She was questioned about her call, and all the intentions and aims she had for

Analysis Of A Clean Well-Lighted Place
Ernest Hemingway uses his unique writing style to captivate audiences with A Clean, Well Lighted
Place. Mainly through a few short pieces of carefully crafted dialogue that not only establish setting
and push the thin plot but also convey the central theme of existentialism. Hemingway s use of plot is
brilliant. Hemingway has a way of structuring his stories as to not confuse the reader. Hemingway s
plot keeps the story moving at a quick pace, and makes the story read smoothly. A Clean, Well Lighted
Place is a short story that contains mostly of dialogue. It is hard to identify what it is about
Hemingway s plot that works so well. Barbra A. Archana states, The simple story line is so deftly
handled with controlled techniques that the outcome leaves an indelible effect. The mere four page
story, evocatively chiseled and crafted, remains a chilling little masterpiece (Archana 3). Barbra A.
Archana s thoughts can help a reader of Hemingway s work appreciate his work s plot. In Hemingway
s story, the reader first sees an old deaf man sitting by himself in a café drinking away his troubles.
The story tells us that the old man had recently attempted to hang himself, but failed when his niece
saved him. Hemingway has a way of making A Clean, Well Lighted Place more than just a simple
story. The focus of the story is two waiters, differing in age. The two waiters spend the story trying to
predict the reasons that were contributing to the old man s depression. The story begins in a unique
way. It begins in such a way that there is no way the reader can predict the upcoming conflict. As the
plot moves forward the reader learns more about the old man. The reader, at first imagines a conflict is
about to arise between the drunken, old man and a couple of tired waiters, but the real conflict is much
more philosophical in nature. As the waiters discuss the old man s pitiable life, the reader becomes
aware of their opposing views of life. By the end of the story, the reader is no longer focusing on the
old man or the younger waiter but rather on the older waiter and the existential concepts he comes to
embody. Much of A Clean, Well lighted place takes place in a single setting. The café is as the title

David And Goliath And Casey At The Bat Essay
In the Bible story, David and Goliath and the poem, Casey at the Bat both of the main characters share
similarities and differences. One of the similarities is that both men are confident about themselves.
David was confident because he knew that God was on his side, and he could not lose. Casey from,
Casey at the Bat acted very confident because everybody was shouting his name, and he thought he
was going to win. Another way Casey and David were comparable is that they were both fearless and
courageous. Casey let the ball go on purpose, and then he received a strike. He was being fearless and
as a result of his action he struck out. He could have played it safe and swung at the first one, but he
decided to be daring. It can be proved that David was fearless and for that ... Show more content on

To add to this thought, David was positive he was going to win that fight. He knew that God was on
his side that was why he was confident in himself. In, Casey at the Bat , Casey was unwavering and
steady because he was focused on fame and hitting that last ball. He was absolutely positive of his
ability. In result of his actions he struck out and lost the game for the team. Both Casey and David has
a lot of comparable traits, but they were also different in many ways. In the Bible story, David and
Goliath , David was unselfish. He went out there and fought for everybody. He was not concerned
about himself. The poem, Casey at the Bat says, That ain t my style, said Casey. Strike one, the umpire
said. From the benches, black with people, there went up a muffled roar, Using the poem, it can be
inferred that Casey was selfish and for this purpose he was sticking out so the people would cheer his
name louder. He was very self absorbed and because of that he lost the game for everybody. That also
goes hand in hand with another difference. Casey is not dependable or

Thurston High School Shooting Research Paper
The Thurston High School shooting took place on May 21, 1998 by Kipland Kinkel at the age of 15.
He killed many during the shooting, not knowing if what he did was clearly thought out. He grew up
in a family that seemed to be very happy, but that was not how he was feeling inside when all he felt
was sadness. He received weapons as a gift and hung around with people that had a bad influence on
him. Even though he had a depressive disorder and knowing that his head wasn t working right, it was
not a good enough excuse for the crime that he committed.
Kipland Kinkel killed his father because his father was disappointed from finding out he had a fully
loaded, stolen gun in his locker and got into serious trouble because of it. However, his mother

A Sociological Perspective
Summary
Economy and State: A Sociological Perspective, written by Nina Bandelj and Elizabeth Sowers,
explains the economic foundation of the state by discussing the governance of property and money, in
correlation to labor and firms, ending in economic development and internationalization/globalization.
Bandelj and Sowers , target audiences for this book seemed to be intended for those individuals
wanting to learn the basics of economics from an economic sociology perspective allowing readers to
broaden their minds, while drawing comparisons from the political economy and economic sociology.
This book was written with clear language for the audience to understand and comprehend the large
amount of traditional economic theory information within its condensed size, as well as introducing a
sense of economic sociology in to the mix. Both Bandelj and Sowers separate their book into eight
chapters: ranging from property and money, labor and firms, development and the international global
economy, before its conclusion. Authors Nina Bandelj and Elizabeth Sowers, provide a wonderful
analysis between economy and sociology by breaking down the study of economics including the
production, distribution, consumption, and exchange of goods and services and its direct correlation to
social networks, cultural reality so to speak, and political and social forces. The authors address the
theoretical perspectives of economy state relations while also applying the sociological

ES 1010 Earth Science
ES 1010, Unit 8 Question 11 Discuss stellar evolution (describing each stage in brief). What forces are
opposing one another throughout the life of a star and how do they influence the various stages in the
life cycle of a star Stellar evolution stars exist because of gravity. The two opposing forces in a star are
gravity (contracts) and thermal nuclear energy (expands). Stage 1 Birth is where gravity contracts the
cloud and the temperature rises, becoming a protostar. Protostars are a hypothetical cloud of dust and
atoms in space which are believed to develop into a star. Astronomers are fairly certain of their
existence. Protostars are formed about a million years after a gas clump from an interstellar gas cloud
has started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The farther away a star is, the less its parallax. The light year is a unit used to express stellar distance,
which is the distance light travels in a year, which is approximately 9.5 trillion kilometers (5.8 trillion
miles). The parallax angles are very small. Proxima Centauri is the parallax angle nearest to the star. It
is less than one second or arc, which equals 1/3600 of a degree. A human finger is roughly 1 degree
wide. The distances to stars are so large that conventional units such as kilometers or astronomical
units are often too cumbersome to use. Some limitations are that parallax angles of less than 0.001
arcsec are very difficult to measure from Earth because of the effects on the Earth s atmosphere. This
limits Earth based telescopes to measuring the distances to stars about 10.01 or 100 parsecs away.
Spaced based telescopes can get accuracy to 0.001, which has increased the number of stars whose
distance could be measured with this method. However, most stars even in our own galaxy are much
further away than 1000 parsecs, since the Milky Way is about 30,000 parsecs across. Reference

How Did God Gave Moses Health Rules For Freedom From...
Summary None of These Diseases 1 5 God gave Moses health rules for freedom from diseases and
pus does not promote healing. The idea of putting something in the wound creating pus, which infects
the wound is the way the ancient Egyptians medicine practiced. Epidemics killed thousands as well
meaning doctors choose to infect the wounds of their patients. The doctors that have listened to the
biblical health rules prevented the spread of infection and epidemics. Leprosy killed millions and
spread terror throughout the medieval days. While doctors had not a clue as to how this epidemic
started or how to treat it, the church leadership abided by the instructions of Moses, given to him by
God. A person with leprosy was to live outside the camp away from people, not because he was being
punished, but to keep the spreading of the disease to the people. Norway had an epidemic in the late
1700s. they did not understand that the disease spread, and it became out of control, until Norway
acted on the biblical rules to separate the diseased people. God promised His people that if they
listened to His rules, He would not put none of these diseases upon them. ... Show more content on

delivery. Semmelweis wanted the interns to wash and they refused. The interns did not believe that
they were spreading diseases, however they washed and waited, and the labor fever decreased. The

Stress For College Students
Introduction I will be so glad when this semester is over because school is stressing me to the max.
This is a quote that quite a few college students are familiar with and have probably said themselves.
College can be a fun but also stressful time for students. They are focused on making sure they attend
class and get passing grades so they can be successful and hopefully succeed in the next chapter of
their life. Researchers at Columbia University and the University of San Diego conducted a study
conducted a study to determine how stress negatively affects academic performance and enrollment.
They were surprised by the nearly 25% of students polled in the National College Health Assessment
that said they experienced poor grades or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article students also reported the cramped housing and lack of healthy food choices caused
stress as well. (College Student Report Stress Affects Academic Performance, 2011). The next source
used for the paper was an article that came from New York University and it gave the key facts when
it comes to college student experiencing stress. Some of the key facts included college student
reporting being more stressed out than ever before and stress being the number one impediment to
academic performance and 55% of students, nationally claimed their biggest stressor to be academic
in nature. (Stress, 2009). A survey at Villanova University was conducted for the article and the results
of the survey included 70% of undergraduates experienced stress. Also for one fourth respondents,
stress adversely affected academic performance (Top Impediments to Academic Success) (n.d.). The
purpose of this study is to show how college student stress levels can impact their academic
achievement in a negative way. The relevance this could have to social work is that it could show how
high levels of stress can negatively impact college student s academic performance. The information
found in this study could show social workers that too much stress can be bad especially if a student
comes to them asking for help

The flaws in humanity offer an insight within the dramatic treatments of it. The works of Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Othello the Moor of Venice continues to captivate audiences through time proving its relatability to today s society just as it had been during to the Elizabethan audience. This is due to the relatability through the exploration of the universal flaws within humanity and the treatment of it through the themes racism and jealousy. The use of play techniques constructs a continuous engagement in audiences despite the contextual shifts of time. The portrayal of Othello exploits the racism embedded ... The gardening analogy, We will plant nettles... either have it sterile with idleness or manured with industry, why the power and corrigible authority of this lies in our wills. Critical theorist Samual Taylor Colerigde describes Iago as being next to the devil and only not quite the devil in reference of the irony, Honest Iago reflects the destructive nature of jealousy and how it can lead one, who many believe to be noble to extremes just to obtain what they believe they deserve through Iago s ability to gain trust from the other characters. Pesticides and fumigants make it possible for growers and farmers to have more abundant and fruitful crop yield. However, the chemicals used to aid in food productivity are often understudied and under researched. The Salinas Valley, also known as the Salad Bowl of the United States, generates more than $8.1 billion annually to the local economy, and it employs over 76,000 people in the area due to the agriculture industry present here (Farm Bureau Monterey, np). The Dow Chemical Company specializes in agricultural chemicals such as pesticides. I used the pesticides listed on their website to cross reference what pesticides are being used in Salinas and in the town of Monte Maiz in Argentina. Monte Maiz is a town that has been plagued with cancer and neurological damages to pregnant mothers fetuses because of the high concentration and persistence of pesticides in the community. Through cross referencing chemicals I found that the insecticide Lorsban 48 E, also known as chlorpyrifos, is used on the soybean crops in Argentina (DOW AgroSciences, np). Here in the Salinas Valley the same chemical, chlorpyrifos, is being used on apple orchards primarily in Watsonville, a city here in the county. The consequences and effects of chlorpyrifos being used in Monte Maiz illustrate the potential ramifications of the use of this harmful chemical. Due to a director at the local hospital in Monte Maiz noticing increases in patients with cancer, an organization, the Network for the Protection of Health and Environment, conducted research on the town. The team concluded, One of the most significant findings obtained from the survey was that while the expectation of new cancer cases in Monte Maiz was 11 per year, in 2014 the town had 35 cases three times as many. The community policing model balances reactive responses to calls for service with proactive problem solving centered on the causes of crime and disorder. • 6. Comparing The Third Wish And The Monkey s Paw Some people think that if they could only change one aspect of their lives, it would be perfect. They do not realize that anything that is changed could come with unintended consequences. The Monkey s Paw by W.W. Jacobs and The Third Wish by Joan Aiken both illustrate this theme. They demonstrate this by granting the main character three wishes, but with each wish that is granted, brings undesirable consequences. The main idea of this essay is to compare and contrast The Monkey s Paw and The Third Wish. As Mr. White and his wife look out at an empty street, awaiting Herbert s arrival, they are heartbroken knowing that they will probably never see Herbert again. Unlike Mr. White s first wish, Mr. Peters wishes for a wife as beautiful as the forest. However, Mr. Peters apprehends that Leita, his wife, will never be satisfied being a human, because she longs to be with her swan sister. So, for his second wish, he wishes her back to swan form. Now, without Leita Mr. Peters, as well as Mr. White, is heartbroken and a lonely man, once again. Now, understanding that wishes only lead to misfortune, he decides not to use the third wish. The end of a story, when all loose ends are tied and the reader knows what happens to the character(s), can be described as the resolution. The theme of a story often goes along with the resolution as well. The Monkey s Paw resolution is rather dark. Poverty and child abuse are top issues in the United States. For this reason, I believe the government should start regulating the number of children people can have based on financial stability, place of residence, criminal history, and other qualifications. The ideal American family image is one that provides parents that gracefully accommodate and nurture their children with open arms, financial cohesion, warm meals, and a roof over their heads. The license would ensure that the parents in question have enough resources to afford children, and will require a full background and criminal history check to evaluate their skills as a parent. Multiple skill sets play a factor. Previous incarcerations and financial resources play a crucial role as people who have been criminally negligent beforehand have the tendency to commit another crime. • 9. The World Needs Abortion Essay One of the most important philosophical issues ever concerns the definition of a person and who is able to feel. Abortion, which is a deliberate termination of pregnancy, is one of the most important practical applications of that issue. Life on Earth is threatened with destruction from overpopulation and the poverty that overpopulation causes. Fortunately, abortion can prevent overpopulation. The question about whether abortion should be done is primarily the question about whether the embryo or fetus is a person. In most cases, the embryo weighs less than 100grams: less than 10% of human brain. Abortion should be legal since it is useful and since humans become conscious after birth, not before. Values for Human Society People are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If an embryo that does not feel is terminated, then the conscious object, a person, is never created. Not creating a person is not immoral: When people are not having sex, they are not creating a person. If the society has an optimum population, the net benefit (benefit minus harm) of an extra person will on average be zero. Practical Effects of Abortion The world has a problem of overpopulation, not under population. The environmental problems occur largely because too many people exist and strain the natural resources. Thus, not creating an extra person is on average good for the society. (If creating a person would on average be good, then more people should be created, and the population size is too small, not too large.) In abortion, when a mother chooses not to create a person, the person is unwanted and thus probably should not be created. Much of the poverty found throughout the world is caused by having too many children. Abortion prevents that and thus reduces poverty. Poverty contributes to crime. Therefore, abortion reduces crime. Unfortunately, the government in the USA does not support abortion for poor people. A serious defect in an embryo gives additional reasons for its termination. For example, Down syndrome is a severe congenital disorder that is a major cause of mental retardation, worldwide. (Cozic 138) Fortunately, fetal testing (with abortion) can prevent it. • 18. My Education Is Important And Important Aspects Of Education My education remains important to me because it the key component of my successful future as an individual. The experiences I have been through, from elementary school to high school, have opened my eyes to the different types of education different schools have to offer. The schools that I have been to have required me to go through change that takes time. I have always been considerate of class because the schools that I have been to include students from all social classes. I keep this in mind when I try to connect with other students. I try to make myself more approachable and productive with them, because there are certain conflicts that may make it difficult to successfully communicate with them. This has also interfered with my actual education as well, because I need to be considerate of my teachers as well. Class within education brings in many factors that put us within a group of individuals that may have a different experience with education compared to other of different classes. I attended Paramus Catholic high school, and the change from elementary school was very dramatic. This high school had about 1500 students when I joined, so making new friends was quite difficult. I was told that everyone at my school was friendly, but I didn t believe it. I saw students from all different towns and all different social classes. I needed to make friends who I could relate to, because there were simply too many students in my school to become companions with. My first approach was to find other students of the same race as me, Filipino. The first two friends I made in high school were both Filipino, and it was easy to converse with them. After talking to them for a few days, I learned that one of them was in the working class, and the other was very wealthy. I assumed that becoming friends with them was only easy because we could connect through our backgrounds, and the idea of class division still frightened me. Afraid of making new friends, I took on the challenges of high school on my own, with no help from any of my classmates. I felt that I could be independent, especially after my parents told me to put school before friends. As a result, I stayed up late at night trying to learn all the material ... Employment at Will Employment at Will law is highly relevant to the Personnel Planning functions of Human Resources Management. Personnel Planning sometimes involves the termination of competent and otherwise desirable employees due to financial or organizational challenges coming from the employer s side. In at will employment relationship, the employer and employee agree at the outset that the employer may terminate the employment relationship for any time at any reason. In the case of at will employees, employers are not required to show good cause for termination, meaning that they do not necessarily have to prove that the employee did anything to deserve termination. Although at will employment seems to put tremendous security and leverage in the hands of the employer, the termination of an at will employee can invite a tremendous amount of legal trouble, particularly when the personal relationship and communication between the employee and employer is not good. An at will employee who has demonstrated competent performance on the job before being terminated could develop the belief that employer made the termination decision based on something other than job performance or organizational issues. The Origins Of Behavioral Modernity The origins of behavioral modernity has been the topic of debates for many experts in the anthropological field; however, there seems to be a consensus that behavioral modernity can be characterized by abstract thinking, planning, symbolic behavior (e.g. art and ornamentation), use of stone and blade technologies and many others. The use of abstract thought and symbolic representation is one of the defining characteristics of humans. Creating art is a shared trait among all human populations, and the ubiquity of art translates the value that all human cultures and groups place on the creation of symbolic representation. Earliest archeological findings for hominid art seems to be during the Upper Paleolithic Age with the Homo sapiens about 40,000 years ago. Older possible examples of art could be the incised ochre in the Blombos Caves; however, archeologists and anthropologists are still trying to decipher the reasoning behind the motifs on the walls of the cave and whether to attribute the motifs to early humans. Art created in the Upper Paleolithic Age have been found in Aurignacian Europe and the Levant, a large area in the Eastern Mediterranean. The art dates to about 40,000 years ago, and on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia and certain areas of Africa, there is evidence suggesting that art may have earlier origins (Indonesian Cave Paintings As Old As Europe s Ancient Art). • 40. The Assassination Of Mother Teresa It was September the 10th, 1964 and World war 2 had only just come to a conclusion. Mother Teresa sat on a piping hot train, on a hot summers day in Calcutta. She tried taking up as little space as possible to avoid being crowded which she was to a great extent and deeply swelter. She was on a train from Calcutta to the Himalayan foothills for a retreat. On this train ride Christ spoke to Mother Teresa. She referred to this as her second calling and in her words it was a vocation to give up, even at Loreto where I was very happy, to go out into the streets to serve . I want Indian Nuns, Missionaries of Charity, who would be my fire of love amongst the poor, the sick, the dying and the little children, she heard Christ say to her on the train in those very words. You are I know the most incapable person weak and sinful but just because you are that I want to use you for my glory. Wilt thou refuse? . A sensation of happiness rushed through her, even though she had been called weak she was honoured. She was very quick to share her vision with her supporters, friends and members of the Loreto sisters that she worked with. She was questioned about her call, and all the intentions and aims she had for doing it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It took much time, and patience. • 41. Analysis Of A Clean Well-Lighted Place Ernest Hemingway uses his unique writing style to captivate audiences with A Clean, Well Lighted Place. Mainly through a few short pieces of carefully crafted dialogue that not only establish setting and push the thin plot but also convey the central theme of existentialism. Hemingway s use of plot is brilliant. Hemingway has a way of structuring his stories as to not confuse the reader. Hemingway s plot keeps the story moving at a quick pace, and makes the story read smoothly. A Clean, Well Lighted Place is a short story that contains mostly of dialogue. It is hard to identify what it is about Hemingway s plot that works so well. Barbra A. Archana states, The simple story line is so deftly handled with controlled techniques that the outcome leaves an indelible effect. The mere four page story, evocatively chiseled and crafted, remains a chilling little masterpiece (Archana 3). Barbra A. Archana s thoughts can help a reader of Hemingway s work appreciate his work s plot. In Hemingway s story, the reader first sees an old deaf man sitting by himself in a café drinking away his troubles. The story tells us that the old man had recently attempted to hang himself, but failed when his niece saved him. Hemingway has a way of making A Clean, Well Lighted Place more than just a simple story. The focus of the story is two waiters, differing in age. The two waiters spend the story trying to predict the reasons that were contributing to the old man s depression. The story begins in a unique way. It begins in such a way that there is no way the reader can predict the upcoming conflict. As the plot moves forward the reader learns more about the old man. The reader, at first imagines a conflict is about to arise between the drunken, old man and a couple of tired waiters, but the real conflict is much more philosophical in nature. As the waiters discuss the old man s pitiable life, the reader becomes aware of their opposing views of life. By the end of the story, the reader is no longer focusing on the old man or the younger waiter but rather on the older waiter and the existential concepts he comes to embody. Much of A Clean, Well lighted place takes place in a single setting. The café is as the title ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Sociological Perspective Summary Economy and State: A Sociological Perspective, written by Nina Bandelj and Elizabeth Sowers, explains the economic foundation of the state by discussing the governance of property and money, in correlation to labor and firms, ending in economic development and internationalization/globalization. Bandelj and Sowers , target audiences for this book seemed to be intended for those individuals wanting to learn the basics of economics from an economic sociology perspective allowing readers to broaden their minds, while drawing comparisons from the political economy and economic sociology. This book was written with clear language for the audience to understand and comprehend the large amount of traditional economic theory information within its condensed size, as well as introducing a sense of economic sociology in to the mix. Both Bandelj and Sowers separate their book into eight chapters: ranging from property and money, labor and firms, development and the international global economy, before its conclusion. Authors Nina Bandelj and Elizabeth Sowers, provide a wonderful analysis between economy and sociology by breaking down the study of economics including the production, distribution, consumption, and exchange of goods and services and its direct correlation to social networks, cultural reality so to speak, and political and social forces. The authors address the theoretical perspectives of economy state relations while also applying the sociological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. ES 1010 Earth Science ES 1010, Unit 8 Question 11 Discuss stellar evolution (describing each stage in brief). What forces are opposing one another throughout the life of a star and how do they influence the various stages in the life cycle of a star Stellar evolution stars exist because of gravity. The two opposing forces in a star are gravity (contracts) and thermal nuclear energy (expands). Stage 1 Birth is where gravity contracts the cloud and the temperature rises, becoming a protostar. Protostars are a hypothetical cloud of dust and atoms in space which are believed to develop into a star. Astronomers are fairly certain of their existence. Protostars are formed about a million years after a gas clump from an interstellar gas cloud has started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The farther away a star is, the less its parallax. The light year is a unit used to express stellar distance, which is the distance light travels in a year, which is approximately 9.5 trillion kilometers (5.8 trillion miles). The parallax angles are very small. Proxima Centauri is the parallax angle nearest to the star. It is less than one second or arc, which equals 1/3600 of a degree. A human finger is roughly 1 degree wide. The distances to stars are so large that conventional units such as kilometers or astronomical units are often too cumbersome to use. Some limitations are that parallax angles of less than 0.001 arcsec are very difficult to measure from Earth because of the effects on the Earth s atmosphere. This limits Earth based telescopes to measuring the distances to stars about 10.01 or 100 parsecs away. Spaced based telescopes can get accuracy to 0.001, which has increased the number of stars whose distance could be measured with this method. However, most stars even in our own galaxy are much further away than 1000 parsecs, since the Milky Way is about 30,000 parsecs across. Reference Lutgens, F. K. Tarbuck, E. J. (2011). • 47. How Did God Gave Moses Health Rules For Freedom From... Summary None of These Diseases 1 5 God gave Moses health rules for freedom from diseases and pus does not promote healing. The idea of putting something in the wound creating pus, which infects the wound is the way the ancient Egyptians medicine practiced. Epidemics killed thousands as well meaning doctors choose to infect the wounds of their patients. The doctors that have listened to the biblical health rules prevented the spread of infection and epidemics. Leprosy killed millions and spread terror throughout the medieval days. While doctors had not a clue as to how this epidemic started or how to treat it, the church leadership abided by the instructions of Moses, given to him by God. A person with leprosy was to live outside the camp away from people, not because he was being punished, but to keep the spreading of the disease to the people. Norway had an epidemic in the late 1700s. they did not understand that the disease spread, and it became out of control, until Norway acted on the biblical rules to separate the diseased people. God promised His people that if they listened to His rules, He would not put none of these diseases upon them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
