My Observation Of A Nurturing Parenting Class
The group I observed is a Nurturing Parenting Class which is run by Fairfax County. There are
several classes scheduled to address families with children in different age groups and stages of
development, the class I observed was for families with children aged 5 to 11. There were thirteen
parents present for this closed group event. The Nurturing ParentingClass is held for twelve weeks
and this is a closed group. The meeting is held in a local church, the chairs are set up in a circle to
promote group participation. The classes are held from 5:30 pm to 8:00pm.
In the first class I attended on October 6th, the parents and their children were in separate classes
for the first hour, and then the families had dinner together and the class ended with the families
staying together to practice what they had learned. In the second class I attended on October 13th,

West Side Story is the iconic American musical that is a 1957 Broadway production
choreographed by Jerome Robbins. Arthur Laurents is the author of the original book with the

Norms are unwritten socially accepted principles or rules in society that define what is normal
and what isn t. Some norms carry greater significance in our lives than others. The terminology
mores was inclined to norms that are extensively observed and hold extensive moral
significance. Mores also means taboos of society, things that are not accepted, such as chewing
with one s mouth closed is expected or eating in a sloppy way and at a fast pace is not an
acceptable behavior. Mores classify what is merited and what isn t. When a norm is violated it
is defined as deviance and even though the word deviance has a negative connotation to it, it s
not. Deviance means and individual is behaving differently from what society feels is normal

Overall Las Vegas was probably the best part of my summer and I am lucky to have an amazing

enjoyed as well. The quote you have mentioned also makes a lot of sense to me too and got me
thinking. I struggled with the big questions of life and still am, but I have been able to have a
much better appreciation for life and have had a better time at finding that true purpose. Having
a lot of information thrown at us constantly though can be challenging, I do not blame you! I
agree with too that the humanities can help people to stay grounded in an ever changing
informational world; I know it has for me. This is why I agree with the articles because the
humanities should be taught and explored in the academic setting. Living in a digital world
definitely has pros (communication, medical advances, etc.) and cons, such as social media at

hope to look into this strength further in this course and discover how I can use the future to
propel me, and those around me, forward. The other strengths I received are very encouraging,
as all will likely give me an edge on any professional team. I have always had a very analytical
and strategic mind, and this strength will be an asset to any company when it comes to problem

Tonight I Can Write... Tonight I can write... is one of the best poems written by the great Pablo
Neruda. He was known as a poet when he was 10 years old. He wrote in many different styles,
including passionate love poems such this chosen poem. This is one of the greatest poem I ve
ever came across. Pablo really expressed his love and feelings towards his no longer loved one.
Reading this poem showed me how loyal and strong he is as well as remembering all the
memories whether they were a happy memories or sad ones. This poem also shows the reader from
the beginning, how their relationship was kind of great and then how things got escalated quickly
and the conflict that he was fighting between himself when he couldn t forget her. ... Show more
The poem begins with a statement which is repeated 3 times throughout the poem in line 1, 5 and
11 which created rhythm. This helps the reader to come back to that phrase and be able to fully
understand the depth of what the writer is feeling.

The Last Emperor was a very interesting film, rich in historical truth and an accurate portrayal of
past events that occurred in China during the 1900s. The story was very easy to follow and gave
a more modernized approach to teaching the impacts of historical proceedings by using the English
language but not forgetting to keep the facts in order. This approach gave me the opportunity to
see the different actors as if it were truly identical to what this time period was all about. Given that
the plot was centralized around Puyi, the last Emperor of China, and the director did an excellent

This shows the respect that families had for each other during this time. He greets his mother
for the first time in 7 years and doesn t recognize her face. She then talks of how she is proud of
her son as the Emperor of China. I saw it interesting how ordinary people have to turn away; they
are not allowed to look at the Emperor because he is too important. He seems very harsh and
demanding even at a young age. He tells his brother he cannot wear imperial yellow because it s
only for the emperor. I noticed how woman seem to be treated poorly in this time period.
Puyi s brother explains that he is not the emperor and the real ruler cut off his queue and drives a
vehicle around, referring to the president of the republic of China just on the other side of the
forbidden city. Puyi grows angry and tries to prove to his brother that he is the Emperor by
making his servant drink some sort of paint. He asks the loyal man who gave him the cricket if he
is still the emperor and he explains that he is the emperor only inside the Forbidden City, not the
outside. The film skips ahead to his later years in the detention center. We now find out that the
strict general from the beginning of the movie is actually the governor. He demands that the
