Pros And Cons Of Reconstruction After The Civil War
For a short time after the Civil War, southern whites hoped for restoration of their rights and a return
to traditions and lifestyle before the conflict began. Radical Republicans imposed oppressive policies
and laws. Despite these difficulties, southern whites worked with other interests to improve conditions
going forward. Whites in the old Confederacy raised serious objections to what they considered
oppressive Reconstruction policies. However, they found ways to work within the Reconstruction
system to help restore antebellum traditions and culture. Part 1 There was widespread opposition to
Reconstruction policies among whites in the old Confederacy. They felt forced to renounce their
southern heritage and the values of the Confederacy to rejoin the Union. They disliked the negative
attitude of northern interests and their severe punishments of the South. They objected to granting
citizenship and suffrage rights to freed blacks who gained political power and broke with southern
traditions ( Sectional Conflict, Views Opposed on Reconstruction and the War s Aftermath; Foner).
Reconstruction efforts were complicated. After Lincoln s assassination, President Andrew Johnson
favored legislation placating the South and the former Confederacy and returning property to prewar
owners (History.com Staff, Carpetbaggers Scalawags ). Using his pardoning powers, Johnson restored
virtually all political rights to most Confederates. Southern states balked when forced to repeal

Assess the Potential of Three Sources of Renewable Energy...
After experiencing the replacement of manual and animal labour by steam engines in the Industrial
Revolution, cheap fossil fuels then became the main source of energy. However, faced with the
notable increase demand for energy, fossil fuel, as a non renewable resource becomes scarcer and
more expensive nowadays. To solve this problem, the world needs to replace fossil fuels with other
sources of energy which are relatively low cost and more secure. Renewable energy is such a potential
energy. This essay will give an outline of three sources of renewable energy to be used in developing
nations, which are solar energy, wind power and biomass. First, it will give a definition of fossil fuel
and renewable energy, then it will move to analyse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other developing nations such as Mexico, India, Egypt, etc are now making great efforts. Admittedly,
it will be worth an investment if the expense continues to fall down to an acceptable extent, as
predicted (Aringhoff et al, 2005; Seitz, 2002; and Middleton, 2003).
As another renewable energy widely used, wind power, which is now mainly used for generating
electricity today, has been used for thousands of years powering human activities. Unlike solar energy
previously mentioned, wind is caused by the uneven heating of the earth s surface by the sun so that
wind energy is an indirect form of solar energy (Volker, 2005). Wind is called a renewable energy
source owing to the infinite sun shines.
However, one crucial part of establishing a wind power system is high technology, which is now the
main defect in the developing world. Even in some developed countries such as Demark, lack of
expert engineers in the wind industry is noticeable. It is convincingly argues that there is quite an
engineering challenge especially for the less developed nations to design an efficient wind turbine
harnessing energy and turning it into electricity. In addition, it seems rather a challenge to offer
opportunities for technology transfer, training and practical experience for the industry and potential
wind energy supporting industries and organisations for the current developing world.
Contributions made by wind energy seem mainly to be the

Decision Support System
Decision Support Systems December 22, 2014 Decision Support Systems Many businesses are faced
with situations that need critical analysis, compilation of raw data, circulation of precise documents
and effective utilization of computer systems. Frito Lay is an example of a company who
implemented various decision support systems (DSS) into their business model. A DSS is a highly
flexible and interactive IT system that is designed to support decision making when the problem is not
structured. (Haag, Cummins p.162) Managers require information to guide their organization in the
right direction. DSS increases productivity, efficiency, and enhances understanding of business
processes. DSS helped carve their business success, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A Graphical Information System is a decision support system designed specifically to analyze spatial
information. (Haag, Cummings. P.166) The graphical data demonstrated by the GIS is used to analyze
roads, sewer systems, paths of hurricanes, free ways, traffic, or any graphical data that can be
statistically represented. Document driven DSS is also dissimilar to the other 3 decision support
systems mentioned earlier. Document Driven DSS is focused on the retrieval and management of
documents. Document driven DSS is targeted at a broad base of user groups, and the purpose of such
a DSS is to explore web pages and locate documents. The user types in key words and search the DSS
for answers, and the DSS gives information that the user has requested. DSS systems are beyond
doubt helpful in assisting management and providing solutions while confronting complex issues.
However, artificial intelligence can be included to enhance DSS capabilities. An Information
Technology department can further expand business brainpower by means of artificial intelligence
(AI) the science of making machines imitate human thinking and behavior. (Haag, Cummins p.167)
The AI systems that are utilized in the business world include expert systems, neutral networks,
genetic algorithms, and intelligent agents. Expert systems are an excellent source of elucidation. The
expert system has the ability to diagnose problems and

The Trans Pacific Partnership Is An Asia Pacific Regional...
The Trans Pacific Partnership is an Asia Pacific regional free trade agreement currently under
negotiation between the Unties States and about a dozen countries surrounding the Pacific Ocean
(Weddle, 2013). It s a giant free trade deal that has been in the process of negotiation for about a
decade. The ultimate goal of the deal is to join countries together through a unified agreement and
make free trade among these counties smooth and painless. The trade agreement covers everything
from tariffs to standards for food safety. If signed, this deal would affect many aspects of the economy.
For starters, Its provisions to enforce intellectual property rights would strengthen patents restricting
the availability of prescription drugs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since over 95% of American s manufacturing companies are considered to be small, with less than
100 workers, the trade agreement could be a crippling blow to the industry. American jobs will be lost
and American workers will be laid off. Consumers will suffer, business will suffer, and ultimately
America will suffer. Many argue that free trade will be beneficial for the economy, but exactly who is
benefiting? America won t benefit from this deal unless its export is greater than its import. Reports
from 2014 show that the U.S. imported $2.34 trillion in goods compared to exporting $1.62 trillion
(Nash Hoff, 2015). This imbalance created a huge deficit over $720 billion, which is not even close to
being beneficial for the economy or the nation as a whole. The Peterson Institute for International
Economics estimates that the TPP would add $77.5 billion of income to the U.S. economy by 2025
(Miller, 2015). Although this seems like quite a large amount of money, it actually only represents a
gain of about 0.38% over the next decade. Some people believe this trade agreement will cause new
jobs to spring up but, in truth, a trade agreement does not on balance, create, or destroy jobs, it alters
the composition of the workforce (Miller, 2015). The income from the trade agreement wouldn t even
be a benefit to the workforce. A Center for Economic and Policy Research report looked into the
matter and estimated that only the top 10% of workers in

The Celebration Of Columbus Day
In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue , these words are taught all around the states and are meant to
help teach and remember the year that the now notorious Christopher Columbus went on his renowned
exploration. Columbus was an Italian that was sent by the Queen and King of Spain to find riches in
other lands, and during this voyage he stumbled onto the Americas. During his time in the Americas
he enslaved the Native Americans, forced Christianity onto them and brought over diseases that would
result in the eventual deaths of Native American. For a long period of time though, Columbus was
known as the man who discovered America , nothing more. Now he is thought of as a murderer and a

Richard Rodriguez And Manuel Munoz
Dinaw Mengestu, Richard Rodriguez and Manuel Munoz are three authors that have been through and
gone through a lot of pain to finaly get accepted in their societies. They are all either immigrants or
children of immigrants that had trouble fitting in America s society at the time. They struggled with
language and their identities, beucase they were not original from the states and it was difficult for
others to accept them for who they are. They all treated their problems differently an some tried to
forget their old identeties and live as regulalr Americans others accepted themselves for being who
they are, but they all found a way to deal with their issues.
Dinaw Mengestu talks about his life long trouble with his society and fitting in with the people of his
community. Born in Ethiopia and raised in the States confused him and made him feel like he doesn t
belong anywhere. He doesn t feel like he was ever part of the Ethiopian society and is not accepted in
the United States, as an American. I understand his situation, not because I went through what he has
but I ve lived around people that have. During high school I had a Persian friend who s parents have
immigrated to Bahrain, and he felt like he didn t belong in the country he also didn t feel like he was a

Saving the Old Growth Forests Essay
Saving the Old Growth Forests
America s Old Growth Forests are an endangered resource that is quickly disappearing. The ancient
forests are being unnecessarily wasted, and are growing smaller and smaller with each passing
moment.
Because the logging industry and the organizations in control of much of the remaining old growth
(approx. 5%) are failing to see its value from an ecological/spiritual perspective, the children of
tomorrow may never gaze upon the history of today if we do not take a stand now, and prevent the
short sightedness of others from destroying what ultimately belongs to us all. Alternatives to

According to the United Nations, at least 37.5 million acres of rainforest is harvested annually.
Despite the relatively small areas of land the rainforests cover, they are home to nearly half of the 5 10
million plant and animal species on the planet Earth (Brown, 1998). Many of these are indigenous
species that scientists feel may be the key to the development of new medicines which may ultimately
lead to cures for some of the world s most terrible diseases. Furthermore the rainforests are the lungs
of our planet, without which life would not be possible, and while it s true that younger trees do in fact
produce more net oxygen than do mature trees, much of the rainforest is not being replanted, and
therefore the destruction taking place there is permanent. For this reason; it is no longer acceptable to
stand idly by, while large corporations; such as Weyerhaeuser, destroy what remains of the world s
oldest living ecosystems with no regard for the well being of the Earth or the potential wealth of
information and/or sheer joy of experience for future generations.

destruction caused by the logging of old growth, and those same people will argue their environmental
awareness by trying to sell congress on the idea that they can replant what they remove, that

Country As A Developing Country
Honestly, one would think that in todays modern world every country should be developed. However,
few realize that there are still many developing countries. Mostly due to ignorance, and the majority
doesn t pay attention to the needs of developing countries. For instance, the only time a person may
think of a developing country is when the see the commercials on television, and believes that this
must be the only issues facing developing countries. Normally, people visualize those commercials
asking for money to feed, or asking for help of some type of medical expenses. Take the United States
as an example, and often this country would release funds to foreign aid before their own citizens.
Which could easily cause tension amongst the government and the American people. According to,
SAE there are about 137 developing countries, and countries that earns on average 11,905 or less are a
developing country. There are many different choices when comes to picking a developing country.
However, the country of Sierra Leone will be the country up for discussion. Sierra Leone is one
example of what the World Bank considers to be a developing country, and it is in West Africa. As
well as, the capital, Freetown, was founded as a home for reported former slaves. Currently, Sierra
Leone has a population of about 6.1 million citizens, and on average the life span expectancy is 48
years old male, and 49 years old female. However, this country s most brutal civil war ended in 2002,

EXPOSITORY Tourists are rejecting the traditional holiday vacations in favour of experiencing
different places and activities. Why might this be?
Family vacations used to be the go to trip for any given time to travel, but as generations advance the
destinations of holiday vacations have evolved alongside society. The mindset of the world today has
caused people to reject traditional holiday vacations for new experiences. These new experiences can
range anywhere from going to exotic places like Jamaica to Greece to just staying home. There is a
reason for all of this change, such as the lack of financial stability, the increase in technology and
social media, and different kinds of people with their diverse views.
Traveling is expensive, and financial issues have begun to cause the downfall of most vacations.
People cannot afford to go and see their family, so they stay home on vacations known as staycations.
These staycations are a new experience for a lot of people because they are not going anywhere on
their vacation time, which is unusual for them. One reason for this is that student loans have gone up
tremendously in recent years and before people can worry about going on vacation, they must pay
back these debts. These loans can last a lifetime, and instead of worrying about them forever they
postpone their vacations, so

Complementarity In Wesley s Song, Wouldn T Change A Thing
Complementarity is defined as the popularly supposed tendency, in a relationship between two people,
for each to complete what is missing in the other. This explains the phenomenon of opposites attract;
people tend to be attracted to those that are different in personality than them because their differences
are complementary. The song, Wouldn t Change A Thing, by Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas, represents
the idea of opposites being attracted to each other, but yet, they are complementary. The chorus states,
Like fire and rain, you can drive me insane, but I can t stay mad at you for anything. We re Venus and
Mars. We re like different stars, but you re the harmony to every song I sing and I wouldn t change a
thing. The rest of the song explains that although they are two completely different people and fight

there. This is not only flatter them, but to also get that specific person to like us back in some way,

Is Dead, describes that act of a man being a gentleman towards a woman. So I must open doors and
make you feel like the lady you are. My momma raised me to be classy, not flashy. I m happy to
please you, though I can tell that s not what you re used to and they say chivalry is dead, says Wesley.
The message that the song is trying to get across is that today, many women view acts of kindness as
foreign and strange because unfortunately, it is common for women to be disrespected more than ever;
this explains the idea that chivalry is dead. However, Wesley says that chivalry still exists; women
should be treated with respect and although he acts like a gentleman, that does not mean he will take

Alzheimer s Hypothesis

not only does Alzheimer s affect the five million Americans living with it. People caring for those with
the disease gave up around eighteen billion of their own hours this past year to provide the needed
service. What s even more staggering is that these caregivers put in these hours without pay.

It is a degenerative disease, which means it gets worse over time and as of right now, there is no way
to reverse its negative effects. Scientists are not entirely sure what causes Alzheimer s, but the widely
accepted theory is known as the amyloid hypothesis of Alzheimer s. This hypothesis states that
Alzheimer s is caused by a buildup of plaques in the brain that damage or kill neurons. These plaques
form when sticky proteins called amyloid beta clump together. Amyloid beta proteins are produced
when amyloid precursor protein (APP) is chopped into multiple pieces by Beta site Amyloid precursor
protein Cleaving Enzyme 1 (BACE1) and an enzyme referred to as gamma secretase. The process
begins with APP, which sticks out from the membranes of cells, is cut by BACE1, which makes small
pieces called sAPP beta, which are unrelated to the development of Alzheimer s. The small fragment
that still remains in the cell membrane is then chopped by gamma secretase, giving off amyloid beta.
There are two main types of treatments that are being researched that scientists believe could slow or
even completely eliminate Alzheimer s, antibody therapies and BACE1

Martha Stewart Trial Case
In 2001 public celebrity Martha Stewart sold stock in a large biotech company named ImClone. This
act landed her in a large amount of trouble with the Federal Government and the SEC. She was held to
trial and many things were told and discussed throughout the trial case. Through this research you will
see several people s sides and statements they made during the jury trial and throughout the whole
case.
On December 29, 2001, just two days after Celebrity Martha Stewart sold her stock in ImClone, the
companies stock dropped sixteen percent when the Food and Drug Administration told it had rejected
the main drug Erbitux, for cancer treatment. (According to an article written by Julia Leite of the
Columbia Journalism School) Martha, by selling right before the FDA s announcement, she avoided a
loss of $45,673, a tiny fraction of her net worth, which the famous Forbes magazine estimated at $700
million just six months earlier. This decision that Stewart made would end up being one of the biggest
she would make during her whole career, that would also send her to federal prison. She was not the
only person that had invested in the company that avoided major losses just before the decision of the
FDA. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regulators of the SEC had an easier job finding the CEO of insider trading, because when someone of
that authority sells a large amount of their own company s stock just a few days before the FDA
announcement raises a large and obvious red flag. The case for Martha Stewart would be more
complicated and more research had to be done by the regulators to prove her guilty. During the
investigation and the court trial, a piece of information was told that could hurt Martha s chance for
proving she was not

Mary Church Terrell Speech
What It Means to Be Colored in the Capital of the United States is a speech that was delivered to a
woman s club in 1906. The speech, delivered in Washington D.C, addressed prejudice and humiliation
the African Americans encounter in the capital city. The speeches author Mary Church Terrell was
born in 1863. Her parents were slaves, but she was born the year of the emancipation of proclamation
therefore she never was a slave herself. After getting married she was forced to give up her job as a
school teacher due to laws that prevented married women from being teachers. Mary would later on
use her voice to serve on the Board of Education and to help found the NAACP and bring an end to
segregation in the restaurants of Washington. Mary s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Or how she would enter white churches and not be welcomed by anyone. In one experience, she
attempted to go to a Washington theater. She called and asked the ticket seller if a neat appearing
colored nurse would be allowed to sit in the parquet with her little white charge, in which he
responded with a no. During this time Jim Crow laws were used extensively to prevent blacks from
seeing equality in their cities and Mary wanted to make it known that Washington D.C. was one of
those cities. The source fails to address at all the alternatives the colored people were forced to settle
with. She never makes a comparison between the white church and the black church or the white
restaurant or the black restaurant. Therefore we never know whether or not the separate but equal
policy is effective. Although we can generally assumed that things were not equally, it is still odd that
no comparison was made. This leads me to question the quality of the black businesses in

Grammar By Haussamen
Kyle Weins on this article I Won t Hire People Who Use Poor Grammar. Here s Why. says that people
with less than perfect grammar are less detail oriented and as the CEO of a company he wouldn t hire
them. Brock Haussamen in his response article What Good Writing Indicates, and Doesn t states that
Good writing writing that is clear and interesting and free of most surface errors is a reliable indicator
of certain job related abilities. But the opposite does not hold true: writing that looks careless and is
riddled with errors does not preclude the possibility that the applicant has other skills and plenty of
determination. which display Haussamen agreement and more importantly, his disagreement about

It is shown where Haussamen states The most important job related ability that an employer can
assume when looking at a well written cover letter is that the applicant can read well. A good writer is
always a good reader. This is important, for even in jobs that don t require any writing, reading of
forms and instructions at least is usually essential. proving his beliefs that everyone should be able to
read and write to an extent. As for Weins states Good grammar makes good business sense and not
just when it comes to hiring writers. Writing isn t in the official job description of most people in our
office. Still, we give our grammar test to everybody, including our salespeople, our operations staff,
and our programmers. which partially proves his own point at the matter that grammar is essential to
being organized and maintaining stability. Though there are only two, these are the reason that I can

Pulmonary Embolism Essay
According to new research by Japan s Osaka University, binge watching sessions increase a person s
chance of receiving a fatal pulmonary embolism.
Binge watchers could be putting themselves in danger by watching entire seasons of TV shows in one
sitting. Those who watched at least five hours of television everyday have more than double the risk
that a person who watches two and a half hours or else has of a fatal pulmonary embolism. According
to WebMD, a pulmonary embolism is a blood clot that completely stop blood flow and immediately
kill the person suffering from it.

fatal pulmonary embolisms and watching television for long periods of time according to Independent
Online.
POPULARITY OF BINGE WATCHING
According to the Los Angeles Times, a Deloitte LLP survey about binge watching found that 68%
polled said they had binge watched before, with 31% saying that they had did so at least once a week.
In response, the newspaper has called binge watching the dominant mode of TV consumption in the
US .
HOW THE STUDY WAS DONE

family, two adult wage earners, and two children was analyzed. This trend and shift of and within the
economy contributed to the overall wholeness and well being of the family. As a rising economy

The Filippino Street Children
The Filippino Street Children: A Constructivist and Behavioral Analysis Introduction: Right now there
are millions of children all over the world running around playing games of tag, engrossing
themselves in intense video games, or using their time to bury their noses in a book. Very few of these
children, and their parents for that matter, realize just how privileged they are to live in communities
here these activities are available and acceptable. In some areas of the world the children live amongst
the garbage, have never seen a video game, and struggle to make enough money for survival. The
problems lead to physical, sexual and substance abuse, criminal activity and homelessness. The
Philippines is one of these places. The issues related to street children are some of the largest struggles
of the Philippines; about 1.5 million adolescences survive on handouts and trash (Cullen, 2005). They
are often subject to violence from parents as well as public officials. Frequently they come caught up
in drug abuse and sales, prostitution, and other illegal activities in an attempt to survive their
conditions. Nutrition is a foreign concept as the children struggle to find food of any type and in any
condition. The nature and complexity of these struggles are key components to understanding how
these atrocities can be abated. From plentiful research comes a clearer understanding of the situation,
followed by an exploration of key points and finally a proposal for furthering

Essay on American Music at the Turn of the 20th Century
To understand whether an American music emerged out of traditions in the turn of the 20th century,
we need to focus on the term American and what musical genres fall under that category. For one,
America, in a cultural sense, is seen as one huge melting pot , an amalgamation of cultures, ethnic
traditions, beliefs and styles of music. It is very difficult to label one genre under the category of
American music, as a vast amount of styles, in historical terms, have come about from a mixture of
styles such as Jazz and Country music. Influences from a variety of ethnic backgrounds provided the
chance for the growth and commercialism of genres and made them more mainstream. With the focus
being on jazz and Country, it is made clear that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, having its foundations traced back to its southern origins, it became widely recognised by John
Sousa, who blended both syncopated jazz with classical music brought over from across the pond. In
terms of ethnic traditions, music which emerged from early black culture cannot technically be
defined as American alone. These purely African styles of music, fused with slave culture, laid the
foundations for Jazz (emerged from Blues) music but cannot solely be categorised as American. It was
when the Creole population (black population who were born in America) began to develop in the mid
nineteenth century, along with merges from European classical music, that the genre, created by this
ethnic group, was received as American. As time moved on, so did Jazz s musical development. Its
links with white American musical styles increased in order to categorise itself as popular music.
Despite the genre having its initial, strong African American roots, and in 1850, almost one out of
every six Americans was of African descent, (Crawford, 2001a, 249) the Jazz scene began to merge
with white culture. When the style hit cities like Chicago in particular, artists like Leon Biederbecke, a
white musician from Iowa, began to make an impact on Jazz traditions. As a teenager, he found love

Hypovolemic Shock Case Study
Hypovolemic shock is an emergency condition caused by loss of whole blood (hemorrhage), plasma
(burns), or interstitial fluid (diaphoresis, diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus, emesis, diuresis, and
diarrhea) in large amounts. This makes the heart unable to pump enough blood to the body (Heller,
2014). The severe compromise in blood flow and therefore systemic perfusion contributes to cerebral,
renal, or hepatic ischemia and possible organ failure. It is the most common type of shock in children
with dehydration and trauma being the most common factors (McCance, 2010. pp 1703).
Pathophysiology
Hypovolemic shock begins to develop after losing about a fifth or more of the normal amount of blood
in the body resulting in compensatory vasoconstriction, increased SVR (systemic vascular resistance)
and increased afterload in order to improve blood pressure and perfusion to core organs of the body
(Heller, 2014) (McCance, 2010. pp 1672). Compensatory mechanisms have limited use and benefit.
Hypovolemic compensations:
Systemic vasoconstriction increases left ventricular afterload and myocardial oxygen consumption and
may produce tissue ischemia.
Prolonged tachycardia may impair subendocardial blood flow and increase myocardial oxygen
consumption; both may ultimately contribute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the onset of hypovolemic shock, the primary goals are to replace blood and fluid volume via IV
infusion; maximization of oxygen delivery, and minimization of oxygen demand. Patient is positioned
in a manner that supports maximal circulation and airway patency (oxygenation, ventilation, and
perfusion). Diligent treatment of fever, fear and pain are necessary to reduce oxygen demand.
Humidified supplementary oxygen is given as needed at up to 10 to 15 L/min by non rebreathing mask
or bag mask ventilation and is monitored continuously through pulse oximetry (McCance, 2010. pp

  • 3. Pros And Cons Of Reconstruction After The Civil War For a short time after the Civil War, southern whites hoped for restoration of their rights and a return to traditions and lifestyle before the conflict began. Radical Republicans imposed oppressive policies and laws. Despite these difficulties, southern whites worked with other interests to improve conditions going forward. Whites in the old Confederacy raised serious objections to what they considered oppressive Reconstruction policies. However, they found ways to work within the Reconstruction system to help restore antebellum traditions and culture. Part 1 There was widespread opposition to Reconstruction policies among whites in the old Confederacy. They felt forced to renounce their southern heritage and the values of the Confederacy to rejoin the Union. They disliked the negative attitude of northern interests and their severe punishments of the South. They objected to granting citizenship and suffrage rights to freed blacks who gained political power and broke with southern traditions ( Sectional Conflict, Views Opposed on Reconstruction and the War s Aftermath; Foner). • 4. Assess the Potential of Three Sources of Renewable Energy... After experiencing the replacement of manual and animal labour by steam engines in the Industrial Revolution, cheap fossil fuels then became the main source of energy. However, faced with the notable increase demand for energy, fossil fuel, as a non renewable resource becomes scarcer and more expensive nowadays. To solve this problem, the world needs to replace fossil fuels with other sources of energy which are relatively low cost and more secure. Renewable energy is such a potential energy. This essay will give an outline of three sources of renewable energy to be used in developing nations, which are solar energy, wind power and biomass. Other developing nations such as Mexico, India, Egypt, etc are now making great efforts. Admittedly, it will be worth an investment if the expense continues to fall down to an acceptable extent, as predicted (Aringhoff et al, 2005; Seitz, 2002; and Middleton, 2003). As another renewable energy widely used, wind power, which is now mainly used for generating electricity today, has been used for thousands of years powering human activities. Unlike solar energy previously mentioned, wind is caused by the uneven heating of the earth s surface by the sun so that wind energy is an indirect form of solar energy (Volker, 2005). Wind is called a renewable energy source owing to the infinite sun shines. However, one crucial part of establishing a wind power system is high technology, which is now the main defect in the developing world. Even in some developed countries such as Demark, lack of expert engineers in the wind industry is noticeable. It is convincingly argues that there is quite an engineering challenge especially for the less developed nations to design an efficient wind turbine harnessing energy and turning it into electricity. In addition, it seems rather a challenge to offer opportunities for technology transfer, training and practical experience for the industry and potential wind energy supporting industries and organisations for the current developing world. Many argue that free trade will be beneficial for the economy, but exactly who is benefiting? America won t benefit from this deal unless its export is greater than its import. Reports from 2014 show that the U.S. imported $2.34 trillion in goods compared to exporting $1.62 trillion (Nash Hoff, 2015). This imbalance created a huge deficit over $720 billion, which is not even close to being beneficial for the economy or the nation as a whole. Some people believe this trade agreement will cause new jobs to spring up but, in truth, a trade agreement does not on balance, create, or destroy jobs, it alters the composition of the workforce (Miller, 2015). The mindset of the world today has caused people to reject traditional holiday vacations for new experiences. The Filippino Street Children The Filippino Street Children: A Constructivist and Behavioral Analysis Introduction: Right now there are millions of children all over the world running around playing games of tag, engrossing themselves in intense video games, or using their time to bury their noses in a book. Very few of these children, and their parents for that matter, realize just how privileged they are to live in communities here these activities are available and acceptable. In some areas of the world the children live amongst the garbage, have never seen a video game, and struggle to make enough money for survival. The problems lead to physical, sexual and substance abuse, criminal activity and homelessness. The Philippines is one of these places. The issues related to street children are some of the largest struggles of the Philippines; about 1.5 million adolescences survive on handouts and trash (Cullen, 2005). They are often subject to violence from parents as well as public officials. Frequently they come caught up in drug abuse and sales, prostitution, and other illegal activities in an attempt to survive their conditions. • 30. Essay on American Music at the Turn of the 20th Century To understand whether an American music emerged out of traditions in the turn of the 20th century, we need to focus on the term American and what musical genres fall under that category. For one, America, in a cultural sense, is seen as one huge melting pot , an amalgamation of cultures, ethnic traditions, beliefs and styles of music. It is very difficult to label one genre under the category of American music, as a vast amount of styles, in historical terms, have come about from a mixture of styles such as Jazz and Country music. Influences from a variety of ethnic backgrounds provided the chance for the growth and commercialism of genres and made them more mainstream. With the focus being on jazz and Country, it is made clear that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Again, having its foundations traced back to its southern origins, it became widely recognised by John Sousa, who blended both syncopated jazz with classical music brought over from across the pond. In terms of ethnic traditions, music which emerged from early black culture cannot technically be defined as American alone. These purely African styles of music, fused with slave culture, laid the foundations for Jazz (emerged from Blues) music but cannot solely be categorised as American. It was when the Creole population (black population who were born in America) began to develop in the mid nineteenth century, along with merges from European classical music, that the genre, created by this ethnic group, was received as American. As time moved on, so did Jazz s musical development. Its links with white American musical styles increased in order to categorise itself as popular music. Despite the genre having its initial, strong African American roots, and in 1850, almost one out of every six Americans was of African descent, (Crawford, 2001a, 249) the Jazz scene began to merge with white culture. When the style hit cities like Chicago in particular, artists like Leon Biederbecke, a white musician from Iowa, began to make an impact on Jazz traditions. As a teenager, he found love for ... • 31. Hypovolemic Shock Case Study Hypovolemic shock is an emergency condition caused by loss of whole blood (hemorrhage), plasma (burns), or interstitial fluid (diaphoresis, diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus, emesis, diuresis, and diarrhea) in large amounts. This makes the heart unable to pump enough blood to the body (Heller, 2014). The severe compromise in blood flow and therefore systemic perfusion contributes to cerebral, renal, or hepatic ischemia and possible organ failure. It is the most common type of shock in children with dehydration and trauma being the most common factors (McCance, 2010. pp 1703). Pathophysiology Hypovolemic shock begins to develop after losing about a fifth or more of the normal amount of blood in the body resulting in compensatory vasoconstriction, increased SVR (systemic vascular resistance) and increased afterload in order to improve blood pressure and perfusion to core organs of the body (Heller, 2014) (McCance, 2010. pp 1672). Compensatory mechanisms have limited use and benefit. Hypovolemic compensations: Systemic vasoconstriction increases left ventricular afterload and myocardial oxygen consumption and may produce tissue ischemia. Prolonged tachycardia may impair subendocardial blood flow and increase myocardial oxygen consumption; both may ultimately contribute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
