What Role Do Jobs Play In Achieving The American Dream
Jobs passion for his work was arguably the most important factor that went into his success in
achieving the American Dream. Some argue that he took his passion too far, pushing his family and
personal life away in order to focus on his work. Their argument, however, is formed without regard to
the fact that the products he created would not be as creative and useful as they are today if he failed
to put in as much love and attention to his creations as he did. After Jobs was fired from his own
company, he recalls watching Apple fall without him, lamenting that Sculley destroyed Apple by
bringing in corrupt people and corrupt values [...] They cared about making money for themselves
mainly, and also for Apple rather than making great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By making products with the idea of profit in mind, Apple, without Jobs, was blinded from seeing
what products would require for the evolution of the digital world. Jobs never had a desire to profit
from his products, but rather desired to benefit humanity and change the future for the better though
his new devices. Such a wish led to his products being innovative and, essentially, an invention that
the modern, technologically advanced world could and did use as a stepping stone for larger projects
which would become crucial to everyday life. However, the fact that Jobs practically led the
technological realm forward lead to other companies struggling to follow Apple. One company, being
Google, happened to take desperate measures that led to a large dispute at the time, being the battle
between the iPhone and the Android. Google attempted to place itself back on the market by selling
the Android, only to be acknowledged by Apple as a blatant rip off of the iPhone which led to a
lawsuit that Jobs was very passionate about. He cared immensely about his products and stated that he
would spend every penny of Apple s $40 billion in the bank, to right [the] wrong [of Google making
the Android]. [He would] destroy Android, because it s a

Pancreatitis Research Paper
Pancreatitis is the inflammation of the pancreas. It s located in the stomach and its function is to
provide the body with hormones to aid in the digestion, regulating glucose. The triggers for this health
condition can be linked to heredity, lifestyle choices and injuries to the abdomen.
For some the pain is acute and short lived, but others experience overtime a continuous and severe
pain known as chronic pancreatitis. As the pain worsens it can be crippling resonating pain from the
backside more times than the front of the abdomen. And as a result of severe pain, there is a tendency
to avoid proper nourishment leading to weight loss and malnutrition, adding another concern to the
health condition.

along with prescribed medicines.
Depending on the level of pain, prescribed medications can range from opiates, analgesics, steroids or

the pain. Many suffers receive antioxidants in addition to the combined medications for further
assistance with chronic pancreatitis pain.
Alternative Treatments
Chronic pancreatitis may not be cured with alternative therapies, but these therapies can help manage

Viability of Non-Nuclear Deterrence Strategies
Near the end of World War II, the United States (U.S.) atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
demonstrated that nuclear weapons can technically be used as a strategic imperative [1]. Nuclear
capability, thereafter, was much sought after by states as the basis for deterrence and thus fuelled the
nuclear arms race during the Cold War, especially between the U.S. and the Soviet Union [2].
However, several literatures [3] [4] [5] have debated that nuclear deterrence and utilisation of nuclear
weapons are morally and ethically unacceptable. Several others [6] [7] argued that nuclear capability
is not the be all and end all of deterrence. In addition, the existence of Nuclear Non proliferation
Treaty (NPT) measures, theoretically, makes it difficult for non nuclear states to acquire the
capabilities to produce nuclear weapons and to do so without being detected [8]. Hence, this essay
seeks to examine the viability of non nuclear deterrence strategies, particularly to address the question
Who are the potential adversaries of non nuclear states and what are the deterrence strategies that are
viable?
Setting the Context
The potential adversaries that non nuclear states may face will be generalised into three types for the
purpose of this discussion. These are nuclear state actors, non nuclear state actors, and non state actors
(NSAs). Nuclear state actors includes the five nuclear weapon states under the NPT, as well as the
three non NPT and one undeclared nuclear powers [9].

Advantages Of Fundamentals Of Database Management System
Fundamentals of Database Management Systems.
What is Database Management System?
Today, Database management systems play a main role in management, data transportation,
administrative and control systems. A database management system (DBMS) is system software for
creating, managing databases. A database management system creates a systematic way for programs,
apps and users to create, retrieve, delete, update and manage data. DBMS ensure that data is
consistently organized and remains easily accessible. As a normal person we access to database
management systems every day within our personal computers, mobile phones and various digital
devises for various purposes like play online games, find something, find a place. Today every
business, organization use a DBMS for store, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is the very first DBMS. Then IBM created their own database system, called IMS. That creates
for NASA s APPOLO space shuttle program. These two systems are the navigational data bases.
These database systems are not easy to use. In 1970s EDGAR CODD thought of a way to make things
a bit easier. He wrote a paper A Relational Model of Data for Large Shared Data Banks. This concept
becomes relational DBMS.
Advantages of a DBMS
There are so many advantages of using DBMS. The biggest advantage is DBMS lets end users and
application programmers access and use the same data while managing data integrity. And data is
better maintained and protected. Data can be shared using a DBMS instead of creating new iterations
of the same data stored in new files for every new application. A central storage of data provides by a
DBMS that can be accessed by multiple users in same time in a controlled manner.
Central storage and management of data within the DBMS provides:
Data security. (DBMS provides high security. Anyone cannot access data without root s permission).
Data independence and abstraction.

The Importance Of Heath Related Safety Issues
UNDERSTANDING THE IMPORTANCE OF HEATH RELATED SAFETY ISSUES Safety in
Healthcare What does it take to be a safe nurse? The nursing profession offers many opportunities for
error. Great challenges arise when trying to keep patients safe. Quality health care is defined by
patient safety and the fulfillment of personal needs. Society, nurses, physicians, and patients
themselves are responsible for ensuring that the operational systems and methods are taken to reduce
the likelihood of errors occurring. As a nurse, it is important to make sure that the appropriate actions
are being taken to limit the amount of mistakes that put patients and their families at risk. Although a
nurse has to perform to a certain level of competency, there is ... Show more content on

These recommendations are:  Regular walking with a goal of 15,000 steps per day (modified for
those who cannot complete this)  Performing yoga at least once per week  Limiting fast food
meals to no more than two per week (or none, if possible)  Drinking a recommended amount of
water per day (don t mistake thirst for hunger)  Sleeping eight hours per night (don t mistake fatigue
for hunger These recommendations are not always achievable, but the need to put forth the effort is
significant. In a perfect world, a nurse would have the time to maintain an exercise routine while
juggling a home life. It is not always possible for a nurse to get a healthy meal unless it is prepared
beforehand at home and brought to the workplace. Long hours are usually part of all nurse s schedule.
Safety has to always be a concern and a number one priority when in a position of caring for other
people. It is imperative that a nurse takes care of herself and maintains a healthy lifestyle to be able to
perform at an acceptable level of performance. Patient centered care is the number one priority for a
nurse. Patient safety refers to a broad range of circumstances. While in a vulnerable state, a patient
expects to be looked after and cared for in a respectable manner. A nurse has a great responsibility to
the patient and his or her family to

Barbie
As a young girl, I was not very interested in playing with baby dolls. I preferred playing with my
many stuffed animals or the only doll I did like Barbie. With my animals, usually I was rescuing them
from some horrible disaster such as a flood or a forest fire. I was their heroic savior and benevolent
protector. But with Barbie this was decidedly not the case. Sometimes my Barbie did normal Barbie
things, such as get dressed up for an exciting date with Ken or go shopping with her little sister,
Skipper. More often, however, I subjected Barbie to strange, sadistic acts of my imagination.
Frequently Barbie, in her pink dune buggy, would have tragic head on collisions with my brother s
dump truck, or the brakes would suddenly go out on her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By examining post war television, music, movies, magazines, advertising, and newscasts, Douglas, a
professor of media and American studies and a media critic, endeavors to expose, review, and, at
times, make fun of the media induced schizophrenia so many of us feel, while showing how it has
produced tension, anger, and uncertainty in everyday women. 1 Douglas argues that the media helped
spur feminism by recognizing baby boomer young women as a huge market but then offered them
sexist images against which they would ultimately rebel.2 She highlights various shifts in post war
women s consciousness and the media s role both in shaping and responded to those shifts. Douglas
book also offers an alternative look at the women s movement and an explanation for the defeat of the
Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) and subsequent denigration of feminism.
Douglas eschews writing a purely objective history of postwar women s relationship with mass
culture; rather, she presents her own perspective. She readily admits her own bias as an educated,
Northeastern, white, middle class woman when she states, Like all histories, my account . . . is neither
objective nor exhaustive; rather, it is idiosyncratic and replete with the sorts of biases that come from
my having been raised in a particular place and

Iv-1 Enzyme Telomorase
Throughout the past years, research of this unexpected instability has created a number of surprising
discoveries. As a matter of fact, it has led to the findings of a great enzyme named telomerase that acts
on telomeres and is thought to be required for the maintenance of many human cancers. Telomerase,
the ends of the chromosomes, are eukaryotic ribonucleoprotein complex, which contains both an
essential RNA and a protein reverse transcriptase subunit. They are meant to protect the chromosomal
ends. They basically cap the ends of the chromosomes, thus protecting the ends. Unlike viral or
retroviral reverse transcriptase s, like the ones on HIV 1, the cellular enzyme telomerase focuses in
making the multiple short tandem repeats that are at

Should Public Figures Be Accountable for Their Private...
The world is in a state of flux, changing drastically over the last few decades. The great milestones of
technology has led us into the new Technological Age of the 21st century, whereby innovations such
as the Internet allows information to be spread in seconds. Today, public figures such as celebrities and
politicians play an increasing role in our society, shaping our views and mindsets of the world. Thus, it
is especially important that they are held accountable for their actions, even those undertaken in
private. Although it is often argued that we can overlook what is done in private if the person performs
his or her public job well, it is indeed worrying with their massive influence over society. In my
opinion, public figures should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, as public figures play a role as representatives of the society, they should be accountable for
their actions, even those undertaken in private, as it is only fair to the public, whom they represent.
Even though it is often argued that there is no need for public figures to account for their private
activities as long as they perform in their jobs, what they do in private inevitably matters as it would
not only create a lasting impact on the society, but also when it breaks the law. Performance at work
does not exempt anyone from obeying the laws of the land, and public figures still have to account for
their actions without shrinking from the responsibility. This is especially true with the high corruption
cases involving national leaders such as former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and Taiwanʼs
former President Chan Shui Bian prove. Despite their positions as high profile public figures, their
actions in private still calls for state punishment, forcing them to account for such undesirable actions.
To ensure that the public upkeeps the confidence towards the court, believing in its impartiality and
justice, public figures have to account for their private actions, especially illegal ones, regardless of
how well they excel in

Montaigne in The Return of Martin Guerra by Natalie Zemon...
In The Return of Martin Guerre, Natalie Zemon Davis portrays Jean de Coras as a knowledgeable,
impartial judge, fully capable of recognizing female intelligence and of looking beyond the status quo
in his pursuit of truth. Like any judge, Coras has the discretion to select or omit certain pieces of
evidence, the power to shape the official and accepted version of the truth; however, Michel de
Montaigne would argue that Coras has a high probability of reaching a distorted verdict. Montaigne s

King Pyrrhus states, I know not...what kind of barbarians...these may be; but the disposition of this
army, that I see, has nothing of barbarism in it (Cannibals, 1).
Thus, after witnessing the advanced military formation of the Roman Army, King Pyrrhus changed his
judgment and could no longer view the Romans as barbarians. Knowledge then, is required to make a
reasonable judgment and knowledge should be acquired firsthand.
In the next paragraph, Montaigne reveals his source of information stems from his servent who
witnessed it firsthand: I long had a man in my house that lived ten or twelve years in the New World
(Cannibals, 1). Knowledge, then, can be acquired from a reliable source. However, Montagine
purports that not all knowledge is desirable. This is illustrated when Montagine states, I am afraid our
eyes are bigger than our bellies, and that we have more curiosity than capacity; for we grasp at all, but
catch nothing but wind (Cannibals, 1). Here, Montagine is cautious on the discovery of the New
World because the exploration of an unknown region can manifest to something more than one can
grasp or it could end up being like the wind no great discovery at all. It is important to note that
Montaigne makes reasonable judgments from the information provided by his servant, who had lived
in the New World.

Close Reading Analysis: The Gilded Six Bits
In Zora Neale Hurston s short story The Gilded Six Bits, there are many aspects that can be analyzed.
However, I found it interesting that the act of objectification is reoccurring in this story from
beginning to end. Objectification means to make a person or thing into an object rather than a human
being or what it is. The character, Otis D. Slemmons, plays a very pivotal part in this story. His
perception of wealth also plays an important role since the whole turning point of the storyline
happens because of it. Mister Slemmon s wealth and possessions cause everyone to be drawn to him.

Satire In A Modest Proposal
The Morality of Irish Baby Food
It is human nature to want to believe that if you have good living conditions, the everyone else must
also have good living conditions; however, if someone did not fit this ideal, then it was his or her own
fault and no one else had anything to do with it. This was a common theme centuries ago, and it still a
common theme today, though which particular characterizes makes someone privileged continues to
change over time. In Jonathan Swift s essay A Modest Proposal, Swift uses the elements of satire to
ridicule Irish oppressors, specifically the Catholics and the rich.

The most significant part of this is the projector finding a useful ally in an American savage currently
residing in London, who confirms his hypothesis that young babies would make tasty and wholesome
dishes for the tables of Irish gentlemen, (Chowdhury) where Swift has included both America and
England, both locations being disliked by the Irish in varying amounts. Swift is satirizing the
Catholics and outside oppressors through his constant use of irony when speaking about the
unnecessary number of children in Ireland, especially after the prior famines.
Swift also uses hyperbole to show the differences between the rich and poor and the Catholics and
Protestants. In the first paragraph of A Modest Proposal, Swift exaggerates the way mothers are forced
to employ all their time in strolling to beg sustenance for their helpless infants (1) and suggests that
the only possible outcomes for these infants are to turn thieves for want of work, or leave their dear
native country, to fight for the Pretender in Spain, or sell themselves to the Barbadoes (1). In omitting
other possibilities, Swift is using hyperbole to portray the lack of options for the poor in Ireland.
Moreover, he dehumanizes the children when he decides that of the hundred and twenty thousand
children, already computed, twenty thousand may be reserved for breed, ... which is more that we

Job Experience Essay
Nearly seven years ago, when I started working for the local DirecTV installation company, it wasn t
exactly a dream come true. I had the aptitude for it, having worked previously as a home theatre
installer back in Kansas City, but this job was much easier by comparison. What made this job less
than desirable were the hot attics, damp crawlspaces where I wasn t always the only thing crawling
around and the loose eaves near ideal dish mounting locations that were often home to swarms of
hornets.
Less than a week into the job I was offered a promotion of sorts. They needed inspectors to verify that

Office to call the corporate office and talk to payroll directly and they would handle it. I regularly

also to cover the startup costs of tools and ladders. This advice would soon lead to disaster.
For the first time in several months I was going to Atlanta, Georgia to visit my daughter for the

up on bills that had accumulated during my unemployment. So, I did what experience and observation
had taught me to do, I called payroll and asked for a relatively small advance to cover my weekend

The Illegal Stereotypes
The novel that I chose to read for this project is The Illegal by Lawrence Hill. Many of you may know
him from an earlier book, called The Book of Negroes . In The Illegal , Hill takes on the complex,
pressing issues of our moment in time, including race and discrimination, the movement of refugees

In this story, the main character is Keita Ali, who, like every boy in the fictitious island of

Meeting Luisa At The Bank
Although we were not meeting Luisa at the bank until 11:00 o clock, we arrived in Marsciano early
the next morning to wander around town. From a nearly home owner s perspective, we looked at
everything anew. Marsciano was going to be our home town in Italy, where we would shop, attend
community events, the weekly market, dine in restaurants and make new friends. As we did with
Johannes, we parked the car near the community elevator and took the lift up to the center of town.
We nodded our heads to the locals and bid them Bouna giornata; a Good Day when our eyes met in
passing. We window shopped at the boutiques on the Corso Umberto, surprised by the high quality
merchandise for sale in such a humble village. Soon, we saw Luisa ... Show more content on

Aloe Ver The First Thing Most Of Us
Aloe vera, Latin name Aloe barbadensis, is likely the first thing most of us reach for when we arrive
home from an enjoyable day in the summer with a sunburn. However, Aloe vera has far more uses
then just to relieve pain from minor burns, it has been, and continues to be a valuable horticultural
crop. Aloe vera is a plant that is propagated through various means, be it vegetatively, asexually, or
even through the use of microproagation. Though, not all these methods of propagation are a
successful as the others. It is important to first examine the plant itself, before even considering
methods of propagation. Initially individual plants start more or less as a rosette and sucker and
elongate slightly in height to form a spready mound 1 to 3 tall; plants are medium coarse to coarse in
texture (Arnold, M., 2008). The form of the Aloe vera plant is likely very recognizable to anyone who
has spent a significant amount of time in Texas, or other states within the Southwest, Aloe vera has
short stout stems suckering at the base to form colonies of thickened, erect, sword like leaves (Arnold,
M., 2008). Though we do typically see this plant grown widely throughout our region, it likely calls
another, larger continent home. Thought to be native to North Africa, it is widely naturalized in South
and Central America as well as the Mediterranean region it is widely planted in South Texas and
Mexico (Arnold, M., 2008). While we do see the Aloe vera plant widely within our USDA

The Scope Of Customary International Law
Within the scope of customary international law, there are some varying norms that the international
law community must deal with, which are broken down into three different categories from most
important to least important: 1) norms in which the international community allows no derogation,
these are known as peremptory norms or jus cogens, 2) norms that might allow for derogation, and 3)
norms that aren t binding but some might argue should be.
To classify these customary norms scholars use both state practice and opinio juris. In order to
determine state practice the states may look towards each other and how they react in similar
scenarios. One debate surrounding this area is determining how many states need to sign off on an
action to determine that sufficient state practice is occurring. Two sides of the argument are the actual
number states versus the regionalization of the states. Opinio juris is defined as a state engaging in a
certain activity because they believe they are under legal obligation to act.
The idea of peremptory norms is older than modern international law itself (113). The idea of
peremptory norms stems from the belief that certain actions are so heinous that derogation is not
allowed. The Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties shows the importance of peremptory norms in
both Article 53 and 64. Article 53 states that a treaty is void if, at the time of its conclusion, it conflicts
with a peremptory norm. Article 64 explains that treaties,

Reasons For Investing Hedge Funds Essay
A hedge fund is a loosely regulated investment company that charges incentive fees and usually seeks
to generate returns that are not highly correlated to returns on stocks and bonds. REASONS TO
INVEST IN HEDGE FUNDS Main reasons to invest in hedge funds are (1)Increased Return,
(2)Reduction of risk, and (3) Diversification. Types of Hedge Funds Following are the different
categories of Hedge funds Equity Hedge Funds Equity hedge funds include those categories that
invest primarily in common stocks. Equity Long Biased It is the most popular one. Managers increase
the return by following a market timing strategy. Fundamental analysis or technical analysis can be
employed for stock selection. Leverage ratio for portfolios in this group is generally low ( 2 to 1 or
less) Equity Market Neutral These hedge funds are much less riskier than a portfolio of common
stocks. These use a number of strategies. It includes trading between futures and underlying common
stocks, buying and selling related classes of common stock or certain options strategies. Equity
Arbitrage The arbitrage group is of higher risk but also provides higher returns. This is also adopted in
Equity market neutral category. These funds have higher leverage. As higher leverage is present, it
results in higher returns and in turn higher risk compared to other strategies. Long/Short Equity

John Lewis Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC
John Lewis was one of the most notably influential leaders of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating
Committee, SNCC. SNCC was founded in the 1960s in Releigh, North Carolina and initially consisted
of black students as its members (Murphree 2006:11). The first members of this organization made
use of nonviolent ways of protests such as sitting in and occupation of certain public places. The
organization was successful in making other people aware of the injustices that black people were
usually exposed to. Moreover, SNCC supported more nonviolent protests such as the Freedom Rides

Rikki Phillipi Quotes
A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out. Walter Winchell
It is difficult to stand by family and friends through hardships, but Rikki Tikki Tavi protected his
family through close deaths and life threatening moments. Rikki Tikki Tavi by Rudyard Kipling is a
fictional fable that demonstrates that people should protect anybody that they care about.
To begin with, Rikki Tikki Tavi is a brave mongoose and will do anything to protect his family. For
example, the author states, Tricked! Tricked! Tricked! Rikk tck tck! chuckled Rikki tikki. The boy is
safe, and it was I I I that caught Nag by the hood last night in the bathroom (para 96). Rikki risked his
life to distract Nagaina by beckoning her away ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

proud, and he kept that garden as a mongoose should keep it, with tooth and jump and spring and bite,
till never a cobra dared show its head inside the walls (para 109). The author is using personification
to give Rikki human like attributes of. This also shows that Rikki will do his best to protect the garden
by giving Rikki Tikki Tavi human emotions. Personification conveys the message that the fearless
creature will protect anybody that he cares about. For instance, the author also states Come then,
Nagaina. Come and fight with me. You shall not be a widow long (para 96). This demonstrates that the
author is using personification through Rikki speaking to display the message of his loyalty to protect
his family. Consequently, he is threatening Nagaina to fight him in order to distract Nagaina so she
will not hurt Teddy. Rikki realizes that if the eggs hatch the newborn cobras could kill the whole
family and everybody in the garden. Then, Rikki could easily abandon the house and leave the family
to die. Knowing this, he still stays and forms a plan to destroy the eggs and protect everybody. This
ultimately shows that Rikki Tikki Tavi will try to distract Nagaina and draw her attention from Teddy
by putting himself in danger. In

What is Turnitin?
Turnitin is the software that AA Hamilton College uses to calculate the similarity of your assignment
to any other document submitted in the same system all over the world.
What happens when you submit an assignment on Turnitin?
You submit your assignment on Turnitin by submitting it on Livecampus on the assignment
submission link. Your assignment is then compared with all of the assignments for all the different
units submitted on Livecampus as well as assignments submitted by other students in other colleges
and books and documents all over the world. The report generated is not the final report. The final
report will only be generated after the final deadline which would mean that once the submission link
closes and once every student submitted assignments at AA Hamilton for the specific unit, only then
the final report will be generated. This means that if you have shared your assignment with anybody
and they have submitted part of it or the full assignment the initial report your friend got would ve
indicated the similarity, but your report would ve remained unchanged. This is because the report is
refreshed every time that you upload your assignment and then finally after the deadline. After the
deadline their plagiarism will be high as well as your own.

Wilson Vs Macomber
Three s a Crowd
We have nothing to fear, but fear itself. Known by many, this common phrase has few words, but a
intense meaning. In Ernest Hemingway s short story, The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber, the
overcoming of fear is shown throughout the story. Francis Macomber and his wife Margaret
Macomber are on an African safari with a man name Robert Wilson. Hemingway portrays Francis
Macomber as wealthy and beautiful, yet cowardly. Macomber s wife Margaret also young and
beautiful, but seemingly dissatisfied with her husband of eleven years. Robert Wilson is portrayed as a

In addition to the conflict in the story, there are scenes of rising action. One example of rising action
occurs when Wilson and Macomber return to the wild to hunt for a lion once again. Macomber is able
to get a shot off but only able to wound the lion before it runs away. As Wilson and Macomber search
for the wounded lion to finish it off, he inevitably runs away frightened for a second time. Hemingway
writes Macomber, was running; running wildly, in panic in the open, running toward the stream. As a
result of this instance, Macomber s wife takes a thriving interest in Wilson. Hemingway writes, Once
he had reached over to take his wife s hand . . . she had removed her hand from his . . . his wife had
reached forward and put her hand on Wilson s shoulder . . . and kissed him on the mouth. Later,
Macomber s wife sleeps with Wilson, which will completely change Macomber s persona for the rest
of the story. Macomber is so overcome with anger, his character quickly changes from cowardly to
courageous. Finally, the conflict and the rising action of Hemingway s story leads to the climax. This
occurs when Wilson, Macomber, and his wife take their final journey into the wild. As a result of the
sheer anger Macomber has for Wilson and his wife, his fear is drowned by adrenaline. Macomber
instantly takes on the characteristics of Wilson as he takes out two buffalo on the journey. At this

Essay on The Civil War
The growing decline in morale and suffrage on the Confederate home front eventually led to its
collapse between 1864 and 1865. Seeing as it was the main arena for combat during the Civil War, the
south felt many effects from the war (N). The prolonged war ultimately led to an economic decline
and lack of resources in the Confederacy along with a negative sentiment among southerners (N). Due
to the internal demise, the Confederacy could not carry on a war without the support of its home front.

All these measures to obtain financial support for the war led to inflation and worthless Confederate

Hunger and starvation spread along the home front and people became angered with the Confederate
government and its inability to provide resources (N). Soldiers began to learn of the situation at home
and this hindered their effectiveness in the field (N). A lack of morale emerged among both the home
front and its soldiers (N). In addition to the food shortages, the southern home front was confronted
with other strife. In order to maintain the effectiveness of the military, the Confederate government
commenced to confiscating possessions from the home front (N). Southerners already lacking the
resources required to survive, also faced the destruction and pillaging of both Confederate and Union
forces (N). The burning of homes along with crops became an everyday occurrence for southerners
and this led to an additional loss of morale and lack of support for the war (N). Economically the
Confederacy was collapsing, but militarily the Confederacy also faced demise.

Individuality In The Pedestrian And Fahrenheit 451 By Ray...
In life, it is commonly stated that A man who doesn t think for himself, does not think at all. This
statement is supported in The Pedestrian and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. In Fahrenheit 451 the
main character finds himself bound to the expectations of society and robotically follows every order
that is given to him without second thoughts. This leads to him being unknowingly unhappy and
having a hollow existence. But as the story progressed the main character became more aware of the
person that he truly was, and when he had finally discovered that person, he was truly happy. On the
contrary, In The Pedestrian a lone individual who is different from society is able to think for himself,
thus giving him freedom from the bonds of society and the ability to embrace his individuality.

Of Plymouth Plantation Mary Rowlandson Analysis
A typical belief that is upheld by the Puritans is the concept of providence, which means God acting in
the life of his creation. This concept is demonstrated in both William Bradford s, Of Plymouth
Plantation and Mary Rowlandson s, Narrative of the Capacity with God playing significant roles in
their lives. For instance, in William Bradford s journey to Cape Cod, him and his crew face starvation
who rescued by Squanto, was viewed as a special instrument sent (by) God... who directed them how
to set their corn (Bradford 33). Also demonstrating providence in the making is in Rowlandson s
narrative, who in times of turmoil is aided by God when she says, the lord answered, in some measure,

The economic development of a country can be defined as the growth of industry, wealth, employment
and the level of urbanisation. The planning and management issues that are linked to economic
development, are those associated with processes such as urbanisation, suburbanisation and counter
urbanisation of cities. These may include pollution of water, air and noise. Other issues may be the

although this is an LEDC/RIC, it still faces overpopulation problems; it does seem that the planning

A. Saftey Concerns
Between December of 2005 and August of 2006 there were six fires in Dell laptop computers,
including one that burst into flames at a conference in Osaka. [1] This incident was caught on tape and
viewed worldwide, prompting Dell to recall 4.2 million laptop batters on August 14, 2016 [1], with
this number rising later in the year to almost 10 million.
Apple also recalled some 1.8 million batteries on August 24, 2006 [after] nine reports of batteries
overheating including two incidents of minor burns. [1] Companies such as Fujitsu, Lenovo and
Toshiba also reported incidents similar to the previously mentioned and undertook similar measures.

There are several most popular approaches for hazard process estimation.

The following graph shows a model obtained from the following security: a bond issued by Deutsche

Many people would have thought another tigress was best suited to the role of adoptive mother but
staff at the zoo decided a Shepherd dog was acceptable. ( Swiss Shepherd dog ...) Jasmine was an

Research Paper On Tattoo Redness
Tattoo Redness: Is It Normal? Wound healing, according to the Journal of International Medical
Research, starts immediately after an injury. The tattoo is a wound too and it s healing process starts
immediately the artist finishes. Redness is one of the healing stages and most people will attest to
having the tattoo look red, swollen and inflamed when the tattoo is fresh. The little needle used to
insert ink into the skin, punches into it a thousand times to create a huge wound, depending on the size
of your tattoo. This will bruise the area for days before it heals. The body naturally reacts to a wound
by pumping blood to the area in large volumes, as it tries to supply the area with oxygen, nutrients and
blood clotting cells. This aid in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such instances require a check up from either your artist or the doctor. swelling can be caused by
several reasons including: Infection This is one of the main causes of redness. An infection occurs if
one fails to take care of the tattoo properly. Failure to keep it clean and sterile will introduce bacteria
to the area and cause infections. To prevent this, follow instructions given by your artist on tattoo
aftercare. Most tattoo artists recommend keeping the bandage on for 12 to 24 hours after the tattoo is
done. Take the bandage off and use warm water and fragrance free soap to clean the area. Use clean
fingers to wash gently using circular motions. Pat it dry and allow it to dry out before applying
moisturizer. Airing the tattoo prevents the area from trapping moisture that could harbor bacteria.
Tattoo infections though rare, can cause serious risks to your health. It s also important to note that
healing time for tattoos is different for everyone and depends on many factors. Yours may just be
taking some time before it heals. If the redness persists for more than 10 days see a doctor especially if
it s accompanied by the following

Archetypes In Crime And Punishment
Within literature, a Byronic hero is characterized by his/her cunning, arrogant, violent, and often
intellectually unstable behavior. First developed in the 19th century by English Romantic poet, Lord
Byron, a Byronic hero deviates from the traditional Romantic hero archetype (Byronic). Although
both archetypes rebel against traditional modes of behavior , Byronic heroes have greater
psychological burdens. This results in morbid sensibilities. Dostoevsky s Crime and Punishment
explores a variety of characters psyche and creates an anamnesis of their respective traits. Developed
by Dostoevsky, Arkady Svidrigailov possesses an imbalance of Freud s psychoanalytic triad of id, ego
and superego, which result in deterioration of his mental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon discovering the fact that Dounia and Pulcheria would soon move to St. Petersburg, Svidrigailov
also sets off for the city, seeing that his wife has just unexpectedly died; this action is seen as a means
in which to satisfy instant delight. Despite prior circumstances, Dounia complies to follow
Svidrigailov to his room where he proceeds to coerce her. Regardless of Dounia s adamant refusal he
had never seen her so handsome. The fire glowing in her eyes at the moment she raised the revolver
seemed to kindle him and there was a pang of anguish in his heart. He took a step forward and a shot
rang out. The bullet grazed his hair and flew into the wall behind him. He stood still and laughed
softly (491). This scene is the epitome of Svidrigailov s maniacal obsessions and unveils the nature of
his intentions.
Megalomania directly correlates with obsession, but the primary target is power and domination over
others. Every aspect of Svidrigailov s life revolves around himself and his altered ego. The
assimilatory delusions that exist contribute to an intensification of Svidrigailov s actions and result in
neurotic behavior. Multiple occasions within the story showcase Svidrigailov and his acts of kindness
to those in need. Following the death of Marmeladov in part 6, chapter 5, he gives money to Sonia so
that her siblings can be sent to a suitable

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Depression
Black Cloud Everyone occasionally feels sad at some point of their lives. These feelings can be short
lived or can last for a couple of days. When you feel depressed , it interferes with our daily life and
causes pain for both yourself and the people who care about you. Depression is a mood disorder
causing a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. (Dictionary 2015) Many people view
depression and sadness as the same thing. Part of the confusion is that sadness is the most
recognizable symptom for depression. Depression is not sadness. Depression is an illness that occurs
through the brain. Depression experiences physical symptoms. Depression needs treatment.
Depression can be a black cloud that can follow you everywhere you go. Major depressive disorder is
one of the most common mental disorders in the United States. Each year about 6.7% of U.S adults
experience major depressive disorder.(National Institute of Mental Health 2015) Women are 70 %
more likely than men to experience depression during their lifetime. Non Hispanic blacks are 40% less
likely than non Hispanic whites to experience depression during their lifetime.(National Institute of
Mental Health 2015)The average age of onset is 32 years old. Additionally, 3.3% of 13 to 18 year olds
have experienced a seriously debilitating depressive disorder.(National Institute of Mental Health
2015) Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest.

Analysis Of The Disney Competitive Strategy
A company that would like to expand and continue the health of the company needs to formulate
strategy. There should be goals that plans and actions of a company would attempt to reach. A
company may utilize competitive strategies that in which goals are made with competition in mind
and corporate strategy concerns goal directed plans and actions that target business choices (Coulter,
2013). The Disney Difference and how it Affects the Company s Corporate, Competitive and
Functional Strategies The Disney Difference is the strategic plan that was implemented by the Disney
CEO in 2005, Bob Iger. Mr. Iger determined that there was too much Disney product of inferior
quality available to the public. He also noted that much of Disney s products were old and outdated as
well as targeting too narrow of a young audience. Mr. Iger began to create formulate strategies that
would attract a wide variety of consumers (Coulter, 2013). The Disney brand is traditionally one that
parents trust with their children. When determining what is a functional strategy, not only is there the
world market to explore, but there is the age market. The goals of competitive strategy should be to
develop a brand that multiple ages, genders and cultures would enjoy. Disney competes with other
companies, such as Nickelodeon and Universal Studies. The reason for this these strategies is
maximize consumption which really is profit and corporate survivability (Meyers, McKnight

  • 2. What Role Do Jobs Play In Achieving The American Dream Jobs passion for his work was arguably the most important factor that went into his success in achieving the American Dream. Some argue that he took his passion too far, pushing his family and personal life away in order to focus on his work. Their argument, however, is formed without regard to the fact that the products he created would not be as creative and useful as they are today if he failed to put in as much love and attention to his creations as he did. By making products with the idea of profit in mind, Apple, without Jobs, was blinded from seeing what products would require for the evolution of the digital world. Jobs never had a desire to profit from his products, but rather desired to benefit humanity and change the future for the better though his new devices. Such a wish led to his products being innovative and, essentially, an invention that the modern, technologically advanced world could and did use as a stepping stone for larger projects which would become crucial to everyday life. However, the fact that Jobs practically led the technological realm forward lead to other companies struggling to follow Apple. One company, being Google, happened to take desperate measures that led to a large dispute at the time, being the battle between the iPhone and the Android. Google attempted to place itself back on the market by selling the Android, only to be acknowledged by Apple as a blatant rip off of the iPhone which led to a lawsuit that Jobs was very passionate about. • 4. Viability of Non-Nuclear Deterrence Strategies Near the end of World War II, the United States (U.S.) atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki demonstrated that nuclear weapons can technically be used as a strategic imperative [1]. Nuclear capability, thereafter, was much sought after by states as the basis for deterrence and thus fuelled the nuclear arms race during the Cold War, especially between the U.S. and the Soviet Union [2]. However, several literatures [3] [4] [5] have debated that nuclear deterrence and utilisation of nuclear weapons are morally and ethically unacceptable. Several others [6] [7] argued that nuclear capability is not the be all and end all of deterrence. In addition, the existence of Nuclear Non proliferation Treaty (NPT) measures, theoretically, makes it difficult for non nuclear states to acquire the capabilities to produce nuclear weapons and to do so without being detected [8]. Hence, this essay seeks to examine the viability of non nuclear deterrence strategies, particularly to address the question Who are the potential adversaries of non nuclear states and what are the deterrence strategies that are viable? Setting the Context The potential adversaries that non nuclear states may face will be generalised into three types for the purpose of this discussion. These are nuclear state actors, non nuclear state actors, and non state actors (NSAs). Nuclear state actors includes the five nuclear weapon states under the NPT, as well as the three non NPT and one undeclared nuclear powers [9]. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the next paragraph, Montaigne reveals his source of information stems from his servent who witnessed it firsthand: I long had a man in my house that lived ten or twelve years in the New World (Cannibals, 1). Vince was bound and determined to attend the Deed Signing ceremony in Perugia in May which meant that he would sign on my behalf so that I could accumulate my vacation time off from work for the actual Moving In and Setting Up House in the Fall. I asked Vince to paint each room before and acquire a bed, a table and some chairs during his visit in May so that when I arrived in September we had a place to sleep and the apartment was spic and span clean. It was already dark and raining gently when we arrived at the front door of B B Garibaldi in the early evening. Vince inserted the key into the front door lock, when much to his surprise, he felt the key snap in two as he turned it to unlock the door, leaving the stem in the keyhole. Oh great! Aloe Ver The First Thing Most Of Us Aloe vera, Latin name Aloe barbadensis, is likely the first thing most of us reach for when we arrive home from an enjoyable day in the summer with a sunburn. However, Aloe vera has far more uses then just to relieve pain from minor burns, it has been, and continues to be a valuable horticultural crop. Aloe vera is a plant that is propagated through various means, be it vegetatively, asexually, or even through the use of microproagation. Though, not all these methods of propagation are a successful as the others. It is important to first examine the plant itself, before even considering methods of propagation. Initially individual plants start more or less as a rosette and sucker and elongate slightly in height to form a spready mound 1 to 3 tall; plants are medium coarse to coarse in texture (Arnold, M., 2008). The form of the Aloe vera plant is likely very recognizable to anyone who has spent a significant amount of time in Texas, or other states within the Southwest, Aloe vera has short stout stems suckering at the base to form colonies of thickened, erect, sword like leaves (Arnold, M., 2008). Though we do typically see this plant grown widely throughout our region, it likely calls another, larger continent home. Thought to be native to North Africa, it is widely naturalized in South and Central America as well as the Mediterranean region it is widely planted in South Texas and Mexico (Arnold, M., 2008). • 22. The Scope Of Customary International Law Within the scope of customary international law, there are some varying norms that the international law community must deal with, which are broken down into three different categories from most important to least important: 1) norms in which the international community allows no derogation, these are known as peremptory norms or jus cogens, 2) norms that might allow for derogation, and 3) norms that aren t binding but some might argue should be. To classify these customary norms scholars use both state practice and opinio juris. In order to determine state practice the states may look towards each other and how they react in similar scenarios. One debate surrounding this area is determining how many states need to sign off on an action to determine that sufficient state practice is occurring. Two sides of the argument are the actual number states versus the regionalization of the states. Opinio juris is defined as a state engaging in a certain activity because they believe they are under legal obligation to act. The idea of peremptory norms is older than modern international law itself (113). The idea of peremptory norms stems from the belief that certain actions are so heinous that derogation is not allowed. The Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties shows the importance of peremptory norms in both Article 53 and 64. Article 53 states that a treaty is void if, at the time of its conclusion, it conflicts with a peremptory norm. Article 64 explains that treaties, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This leads to him being unknowingly unhappy and having a hollow existence. But as the story progressed the main character became more aware of the person that he truly was, and when he had finally discovered that person, he was truly happy.
