Gender Inequality In The Healthcare Sector
Executive Summary
In the healthcare sector, gender equality is based on providing equal opportunities for men and women
in all areas or settings. Gender can be defined as those characteristics of men and women that are
socially constricted and determined while sex is associated with characteristics that are biologically
determined. There is a lack of demand and support for advanced research on women health and
diseases, specifically decision makers, support staff, or even researchers and authors. Many young
women and adolescents have found it difficult to access, utilize, or even make their own decisions in
context to reproductive health, specifically abortions, unsafe pregnancies, and pacing. Women and
men from low income, culturally background, and poor socio economic conditions are deprived of
basic healthcare facilities. In the past decade, gender inequality in the healthcare sector has been
associated with age, poverty, socioeconomic condition, and ethnic diversity of men and women.
Gender inequality is not only restricted to healthcare access and utilization but also affects men and
women who seek employment opportunities. In most cases, only men are dominant in working for
specific healthcare positions. Contribution from women healthcare workers or staff is lower compared
to the male workforce that is huge in many areas of the healthcare system. There is a lack of services
and products for women and men coming from culturally minority or low income groups.

The Religious Convictions Of The Greeks
During prehistoric times, the Greeks had outright and unquestionable admiration for their divine
beings. They showed their reverence by putting set up numerous ceremonies and festivals to worship
the divine beings that they adored to guarantee concordance with them. Specifically, the center will be
on the religious convictions of the Greeks, including request to God and present, and also on
celebrations and human expressions, for example, the old Olympic recreations and theater. These parts
of their society made a critical commitment to their personal satisfaction and the subjects will be
analyzed in connection to the twelve Olympian divine beings, and their partners. The old Greeks
practiced a religion that was essentially, a building ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Olympian religion is very complex meaning that each god had its purpose to them and they were
loyal to each god by trying to satisfy them in their own way.
The Greek divine beings were depicted as people, which implied that they were not great. That is, the
divine beings committed errors, felt torment, and experienced outrage and had their tempers. The
religion was custom based and had no standard ministries, no progressive framework, and no
blessed/holy content or good code. Numerous researchers accept that the religion and society
comprised of stories told and made due through oral convention, which are the myths that we know
today. In the myths that have made due through the ages, the Greeks utilized the divine beings as a
way to defend anything that they couldn t comprehend or deductively clarify. For instance, when
thunder and lightning tumbled from the sky joined by downpour, it was accepted that Zeus, the divine
force of the sky, was in charge of it.
Furthermore, it was possibly a sign that he was angered with the people for something wrong they did.
In that admiration, the Greeks accepted that Zeus and his Olympian divine beings were of the best
criticalness. Every God had their own sanctuary, and inside these sanctuaries the ministers or
priestesses verified that the tenets of offering were being watched. They

Impact Of Digital Technology On Children

The Impact of Digital Technology on Today s Children
In a world dominated by technology, it is appropriate for adults to have concerns about the impact it is
having on children. While most of this concern does stem from the experiences of their own childhood
when there was less technology, more play time outside, and life was just simply much easier, the fact
of the matter is that the children today and the future generations to come are going to grow up in a
technological realm. Today, children as young as four years old, are regularly using digital technology
on multiple different platforms such as the Internet, mobile devices, and gaming consoles. A 2013
Nielsen Connected Devices report found that in households that have a tablet and/or computer and
with children under 12 years of age, 70% of the children used the tablet; 70% of those children used it
for entertainment purposes, and 57% used the tablet for educational purposes. The report, of course,
raises the obvious question of rather or not early exposure of digital technology can have negative
effects on child development especially regarding their brains. In truth, there is no easy answer
because like most things in life, there are both good and bad attributes to it and the exact same thing
can be applied in this situation. For instance, while technology can be used for positive educational
purposes, there are also serious psychological concerns.

Sympathy In The Book Thief
For my fiction book, I have decided to read The Book Thief , by the Australian writer Markus Zusak.
The story begins with an introduction narrated by Death personified. I ve found that unlike the many
times I ve read about this being and their thought process , this one is almost kinder in a way. It is not
a heartless being that has merely grown bored of it s eternal task, it feels sympathy for those he
effects, both directly and indirectly. It seems to take an almost childish interest in the main
protagonist, Liesel Meminger, one filled with innocence and curiosity. As for her, I have found myself
feeling a great deal of both sympathy and empathy for her. On her way to her foster parents home, her
6 year old brother, Werner, falls ill and dies right in front of her, and they, she and her mother, are
forced to bury him in a graveyard along the railroad tracks. This is where she steals her first book, The
Gravedigger s Handbook. Once she arrives at her new home, 33 Himmel Street in Molching,
Germany, she meets her foster parents, Hans and Rosa Hubermann. Rosa is violent to some extent,
often beating Liesel over the head with a wooden spoon, as well as using excessively foul language,
often calling Liesel and Hans filthy pigs . Despite this however, Rosa still loved Liesel, and ... Show

It was a sort a breath of fresh air to me as well, as I mostly read in a purely fictional genre of reading,
and I never stray from that, even into the historical fiction genre that this book occupies. I mentioned
earlier that I felt a great deal of empathy for her, due to reading about her story bringing up some
rather unsavory memories about the passing of my own loved ones, as well as a period in my life
where I was one of the worst readers in my age group. It incited a great deal of emotion on my part,
and I doubt I ll forget about Leisel and her struggles anytime

Nigger In The English Language
In the English language, nigger is an ethnic slur usually directed at black people. The word originated
as a neutral term referring to people with black skin, as a variation of the Spanish/Portuguese noun
negro, a descendant of the Latin adjective niger . It was often used disparagingly, and by the mid 20th
century, particularly in the United States, its usage became unambiguously pejorative, a racist insult.
Accordingly, it began to disappear from popular culture, and its continued inclusion in classic works
of literature has sparked controversy.
In the contemporary United States, using the word is taboo, and it is often replaced with the
euphemism the N word . Nigga , is sometimes used among African Americans as a neutral or term of
endearment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
W. Fowler states that applying the word nigger to others than full or partial negroes is felt as an insult
by the person described, betrays in the speaker, if not deliberate insolence, at least a very arrogant
inhumanity ; but the second edition states: N. has been described as the term that carries with it all the
obloquy and contempt and rejection which whites have inflicted on blacks. .
Victorian writer Rudyard Kipling used it in How the Leopard Got His Spots and A Counting Out Song
to illustrate the usage of the day. Likewise, P. G. Wodehouse used the phrase Nigger minstrels in
Thank You, Jeeves, the first Jeeves Bertie novel, in admiration of their artistry and musical tradition.

As recently as the 1950s, it may have been acceptable British usage to say niggers when referring to
black people, notable in mainstream usages such as Nigger Boy brand candy cigarettes, and the color
nigger brown or simply nigger ; however, by the 1970s the term was generally regarded as racist,
offensive and potentially illegal along with nig nog , and golliwog . Agatha Christie s book Ten Little
Niggers was first published in London in 1939 and continued to appear under that title until the early
1980s, when it became And Then There Were None.

Nickel And Dimed On By Barbara Ehrenreich
The article Nickel and Dimed On (Not) Getting By In America written by Barbara Ehrenreich, who
has a PHD in biology, informs the reader about the struggle a low wage worker in America has to go
through. Ehrenreich goes undercover and takes low wage jobs to experience how a person with
minimum wage of $6 $7/hour survives. During her experiment Ehrenreich only uses the money she
earns from her job to pay rent, buy groceries,do laundry, pay for phone, and car. Throughout the article
Ehrenreich s purpose is to make high class feel grateful for what they have but at the same time she
encourages them to rally support to change conditions for low wage workers. Ehrenreich uses
rhetorical techniques of syntactic repetition, pathos, ethos, and evidence to persuade middle and high
class Americans to realize the need to raise the minimum wage in order for low wage workers to live
comfortable lives.
One of the many rhetorical techniques Ehrenreich uses is syntactic repetition as a way of instilling
emotions in a readers in order to make them feel sorry for the conditions low wage workers endure
and then help in some capacity. In very first sentence of the article Ehrenreich lists; At the beginning
of June 1998 I leave behind everything that normally soothes the ego and sustain the body home,
career, companion, reputation, ATM card for a plunge into the low wage workforce (Ehrenreich 243).

Summary Of The Diary Of Anne Frank
The Diary of Anne Frank, is a book of the writings from the Dutch language diary kept by Anne Frank
while she was in hiding for two years with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.
The family was apprehended in 1944, and Anne Frank died of typhus in the Bergen Belsen
concentration camp in 1945. The diary was retrieved by Miep Gies, who gave it to Anne s father, Otto
Frank, the family s only known survivor, just after the war was over. The diary has since been
published in more than 60 languages. In August 1944, they were discovered and deported to Nazi
concentration camps. They were long thought to have been betrayed, although there are indications
that their discovery may have been accidental, that the police raid had actually targeted ration fraud
.Of the eight people, only Otto Frank survived the war. Anne died when she was 15 years old in
Bergen Belsen, from typhus. The exact date of her death is unknown, and has long been believed to be
in early March, a few weeks before the prisoners were liberated by British troops in April 1945.
However, new research in 2015 indicated that Anne may have died in February. Anne Frank was a
young Jewish girl who lived and died during the Holocaust. The Frank family hid from the Nazis for
two long years in a Secret Annex at the back of a warehouse. During that time, Anne kept a diary in
which she not only wrote about the horrors of war but the everyday problems of being a teenager.

Argumentative Essay About Climate Change
Climate change limits the opportunities that future generations have, especially the most poorest and
most vulnerable. It is our duty to change how people treat/use the earth, educate, and get involved in
our communities that can have a huge impact on improving the lives of the vulnerable populations
affected by climate change.
When people know how to treat and use the earth, it can be a useful solution. Many of us don t
understand that the way we treat the earth now will affect us in the future or other generations. Some
of the things people can do is just the basic needs. Places in the United States people are blessed with
freshwater out of their kitchen sink, but others are suffering daily to even get a sip of water. It can be
easy to just buy a bottle of water at the grocery store, but what do we do when we are done with it?
Just toss it in the trash can? Why not reuse it? There is research done by researchers that bottled water
is not as safe as tap water in many places. When plastic is left in the sun it can be a dangerous to drink
right after it. As much as we try to dispose of plastic it never goes away. The slightest bit of plastic
ends up in the ocean. A solution to not waste water, and not having to buy bottled water is easier than
we think.
The changes start from the smallest gesture of care to the environment. In the article about water: A
conversation with Maude Barlow by Helen Caldicott In Canada we ve now had twenty seven
municipalities, most of them are cities, ban commercial sales of bottled water. This has been a real
campaign. We ve had dozens of school boards across the country ban bottled water, and the Federation
of Canadian Municipalities at their annual meeting passed a motion for a full ban across the country.
They will not buy or sell a single plastic bottle or container on their premises. And it makes sense. If
you are putting all this money into cleaning water and testing it, regulating it and protecting the
source, why would you then compete with that by providing bottled water sales? pg By just going to
the grocery store and buying a reusable water, can be a solution that can help everyone. As a whole,
we need to educate ourselves and understand what is happening to the

Deflection Of Cantilever Beam Lab Report
INTRODUCTION: The study of large deflection of cantilever beam comes from theory of elasticity.
Theory of elasticity state that solid material will deform under the application of an external force it
will again regain their original position when external force is removed is referred to as elasticity . We

Anti-Semitism In Religion
I believe Christianity began as a religion of anti Semitism, however, I do not believe that tradition
remained the same in modern day society. Anti Semitism refers to the practice of discrimination and
hostility toward those who practice Judaism. Historically, anti Semitism was a long standing custom
of whichever empire or ruling power was in charge of Jerusalem and that custom did not exclude
Christians when they eventually rose to power during the time of the Roman Empire. In fact, several
early Christian homilies and dialogues were spoken against the practice of Judaism, primarily because
of their role in the death of Jesus. However, I believe that in modern times the practice of anti
Semitism has moved away from a primary religious standpoint and become more focused on cultural
practices. The first homily written against the Jews that blamed them for the death of Jesus was
preached by Melito of Sardis. The Bishop claims that the death of Jesus is the Jews extraordinary
crime, and condemns them for their role in it (143). Moreover, in this sermon, Melito outlines the
reasons why the Church of Christianity has displaced the Jewish people and made their religion
irrelevant. Melito sates that the type had value/ prior to its realization/ and the parable was wonderful/
prior to its interpretation (137). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those include Justin Martyr, who stated that God destroyed the temple because the Jews had Jesus
killed and failed to be remorseful for their actions, and John Chrysostom, who blamed the Jews for
Jesus death and accused them of idolism and desecration of the scriptures. The continuation of anti
Semitism after Melito establishes early Christianity as an anti Semitic religion. Furthermore, the fact
that the early Christians used anti Semitism as their basis for superiority demonstrates that it is deeply
embedded in the Christian

Why Independence Is Important And How It Is Vital For The...
At MJLK, LLP we are further educating ourselves on Rule 101 of the AICPA Code of Professional
Conduct: Independence. To properly learn more about why independence is important and how it is
vital for the success of our accounting firm we analyzed the PwC Securities LLC case provided by
you. Our firm decided to focus on four key topics to hammer in the idea of independence: SEC
punishment, financial services, value added fee arrangements, and prohibited tax services.
1) SEC Punishment
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) acted in a timely and appropriate manner when
addressing the forbidden arrangements that were discovered from PwC and PwCS. Although the
punishments were deemed harsh, the repercussions were appropriate in this case. The harsh nature of
the punishments stemmed from the speculation of the SEC that PwC and Coopers Lybrand officials
were well aware that the fee arrangements that were made were banned. The AICPA and SEC govern
the rules regarding independence and conflicts of interest that may arise and these companies were
well aware of this governance and oversight prior to arranging the contingent fees. There is a distinct
breach of independence that is formed from the actions that were made, that deserves a harsh
punishment from the SEC. Without punishment from the SEC, there would be a lack of oversight with
controlling companies from making arrangements to compromise independence and properly integrate
internal controls.

Sistine Chapel Challenges
The Sistine chapel was built between the years of 1475 and 1483 in Vatican City and is named after
the pope who had the chapel built, Sixtus IV. One of the most impressive things about the Sistine
chapel and one of the most famous works of art in history is Michelangelo s painting on the ceiling of
the chapel. The project was completed using fresco. In 1508 Michelangelo was requested by Pope
Julius II to repaint the chapel. The Chapel at the time was painted with a blue sky and gold stars. Pope
Julius II original request was to have the chapel painted with the twelve Christian Apostles and when
the project was completed Michelangelo had created more than 3,000 figures. The ceiling was created
depicting nine stories from the bible s book of genesis, including the The Creation of Adam , the most
famous panel of any. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first challenge and maybe the easiest for Michelangelo to overcome was the fact that he had no
experience painting with fresco and he considered himself a sculptor. The next challenge was the sheer
size of the painting at a whopping 14 meters by 40.5 meters. That is more than 132 square meters
larger than a basketball court. Completing this large of painting was a monumental task enough even
without all the other challenges faced by Michelangelo. Michelangelo accepted this commission
regardless and would continue to face many more challenges over the next four years. One of the most
obvious challenges that stood in the way of completing this challenging work of art was the fact that it
was the ceiling that needed to be painted. A local townsman offered to manufacture scaffolding for
Michelangelo that would hang from the ceiling, but Michelangelo refused because he did not want to
leave holes in the ceiling from where the scaffolding would have hung. Michelangelo then created his
own scaffolding that could be held in place by brackets in the

Thank You MaAm Analysis
In Thank You Ma am written by Langston Hughes, a young boy by the name of Roger attempts to
steal the purse of a woman of the streets. Roger s growth was greatly impacted through the teachings
of Ms. Luella Bates Washington Jones, about choice, trust, and about honesty. As Roger is caught he
learns a valuable lesson from the compassionate woman who treats him with kindness rather than
reporting him to the police. If a person who was nearly robbed caught the thief they would not have
been so kind as to do the things the Ms. Jones did for her robber. Every life decision made is a choice,
people choose to go one way or another. Roger chose to steal the purse of the women on street. He
chose to put himself in a situation that could potentially end badly. After his encounter he did not
expect to receive the kindness that he did from the women.
The first lesson that Mrs. Jones teaches Roger is that stealing her purse was a choice that he made. It
was a choice that was going to have consequences. His choosing to steal her purse was her
opportunity to teach him that every choice we make has negative and positive effects. She tells him
that it was his choice to put himself in contact with her, and that the contact was not going to be
something that he got away with. In this scene Roger is brought home to Mrs. Jones house where she
made him wash his face and fed him. When Roger is asked to wash his face, he chooses to do as she
says rather than taking advantage of the opportunity

Alexander Mcqueen
Chapter One
The first designer that s inspired me this unit is Alexander McQueen, a British designer who broke
fashion, genre and designer boundaries from the beginning of his career till his suicide in 2010.
McQueen s work was often focused around contrasted elements and the energy between them,
creating structural and emotionally raw pieces, that were often misconstrued as misogynistic or fetish.
I chose to investigate McQueen s work due to the romantic but determinedly contemporary (Dazed
article) edge to his work, and bold range of influences; leading him to create diverse collections
including many aesthetically and structurally urban pieces, but still within his electric, eccentric
(McQueen) style. His work is so inspiring me due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has inspired me to explore the separate interpretations of urban , possibly exploring the contrast
between the two both the concepts and the effect they have on the shape and style of designs.
Although very different to his later works in terms of shape and from, his trademark innovative
designing is still very bright here. This is a much more street style piece going back to his ethos of
making something practical that works in real life much more wearable Miyake. Also proving the how
widely urban influence can be interpreted into form.
Miyake s work is ever innovative and timeless. The geometric and form inspired designs mean it s not
focussed on a trend, leading it to stand alone. His slightly processed focussed work has really helped
me view deconstruct/ reconstruct as a concept, or perhaps a process, not just something that can be
shown aesthetically. As well as showing me the emotional connotations of exploring urban as a topic,
and how these can be so diversely represented through

According to the Aztec Legend, the ancestors of the people who founded Tenochtitlan, came to the

Consequences Of Home Fire In Antigone
In Sophocles play Antigone a young girl is confronted with a difficult choice of obeying the law of the
land or fulfilling her filial duty. Her uncle has forbidden the burial of a traitor; the traitor happens to be
Antigone s brother who has declared war on his city. Antigone must decide: should she be compelled
by personal motives and bury her brother the punishment for which is death penalty or should she
obey the law and leave her brother s corpse to be feasted upon by vultures? Either of the choices is a
risk; both have consequences. And it is around this arithmetic of risks and consequences that Kamila
Shamsie s latest novel Home Fire , a modern day retelling of Sophocles Antigone, is built. In this
paper, I will analyze the risks taken by the four main characters, and the consequences they face, and
the factors that shape these risks and consequences.
Research Question
My research question is: Are the consequences of the risks taken different for the male and female
characters in Kamila Shamsie s Home Fire ? This novel, Kamila Shamsie s most critically acclaimed
to date, has been noted for its strong characterization. According to James Wood, New Yorker s chief
literary critic, and Professor of Practice of Literary Criticism at Harvard, the strongest characters in
fiction are the ones whose lacunae and omissions tease us, provoke us in unpredictable ways (Wood,
2008). The characters in this book take unpredictable, even capricious risks. But the kind of

Critism in Plato
What is life? This is the one question that to this day still cannot be answered. Over the years millions
of people have had there own interpretation of what is means to live. However the quest to answer this
rhetorical question goes back to the golden days of Greek civilization when the worlds greatest
philosophers first attempted to find the answers to this question. As his position takes form in the
Republic, Plato claims that only a very few individuals are capable of understanding how human life
is to be lived. If it could be done, the rest of us would be best off it we were to let out lives be
controlled by such individuals . This position held by Plato has been one of much discussion and

Also you can t blame him because as it is visible in the Republic, Thrasymachus says, I declare justice
is nothing but the advantage of the stronger . All that this quote basically incorporates is that justice is
nothing to normal people but in essence it s just an advantage to those people who are rulers and are
stronger than the ordinary people. He brings up a great point stating that when robbery and violence
are practiced by normal people its considered injustice, however when this is practiced by mass or
most often by rulers or those in charge its considered justice. Since the rulers themselves do not obey
the principles that they impose on the citizens, they are themselves unjust . Because of this the tyrant
himself is happy because he breaks the rules of justice that he imposes on the weak people below him.
When you are allowing yourself to be governed and controlled by someone else rather than yourself it
is not justice it s basically considered slavery. These are all the ideas brought upon by Thrasymachus

College Students Are Right To Crack Down On Speech And...
Eric Posner argues that college students are not mature and educated enough to handle freedom of
speech. In his essay Universities Are Right to Crack Down on Speech and Behavior he uses ways to
support that students are not ready to perform freedom of speech. He states how there have been rules
applied to decrease speech on students in a school setting. Posner also comments that students do not
know anything and that is reason Posner provides to explain that college students are not ready to
enter the real world. The speech of students is being limited by the professors while in class
discussion. Teachers, in other words, are become more of dictators than the actual teachers
themselves, as Posner states in his essay. Although these restrictions ... Show more content on

He addresses logic when he commented in his essay that students entering college do not know much
and that is why they are going to school: Students who enter college know hardly anything at all that s
why they need an education (Posner 183). He chose to argue on this matter because he makes logic, if
they enter college then that means that they need some sort of education to have freedom of speech
and behavior. Likewise, Posner adds logos to his essay when he explains how scientists are also on the
search of how a person under the age of 20 is still maturing: Scientific research confirms that brain
development continues well into a person s 20s (Posner 185). He uses this statement to certify to his
audience that the cognitive parts of the brain are still being developed by the time they are entering or

Senior Safety Research Paper
Subject: Risk Management Matters August Newsletter
Programming Idea of the Month Senior Safety Tips
To kick off the new school year, have seniors lead a risk management workshop for the chapter. As
veterans of Kappa and the campus community, they have a wealth of knowledge about how to
navigate unique local safety issues and have a fun and safe time at chapter events. This could include
general safety tips utilizing a campus sober driver program, avoiding a certain street when walking
home at night or social event related advice using the buddy system, never leaving your drink
unattended. Having a variety of speakers also keeps the chapter interested and the chapter typically
respects and listens to seniors.
Tips for Safe Event Planning Check In and Checkout Process
The check in and checkout process is an integral part of monitoring the safety of chapter members and
their dates during a social event. However, what works best for your chapter may be a work in
progress.
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes it easy to see who has not been accounted for at the end of the night and gives incentive
for members to follow the checkout process!
Using one central check in and checkout location may not be in the best interest of individual safety
on a sprawling campus. Consider trying two locations for an event to see if this might be a better
option for your chapter.
Try CheckItOut through Google forms. By doing some legwork upfront, this QR code powered
system could make check in and checkout a breeze.
Event post mortems be sure to meet as a Risk Management Committee immediately following an
event to discuss what went well and what can be improved. Take notes so that you can review them
when planning the next event and so you can pass them on to your successor!

Economics in Today s Society
Economics is defined as the study of how the forces of supply and demand allocate scarce resources.
Economics can be subdivided into microeconomics, which examines the behavior of firms, consumers
and the role of government; and macro economics, which looks at inflation, unemployment, industrial
production, and the role of government (Investor Word, 2008). Economics can be further divided to
include positive economics and normative economics. Positive economics is the study of what is, and
how the economy works and normative economics is the study of what the goals of the economy
should be. Simply put positive economics looks at how things such as current gas prices directly affect
individual buying power and how that buying power affect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A change in anything that affects supply besides price causes a shift on the supply curve. Factors that
affect the supply curve are; price of inputs, technology, expectations, and taxes and subsidies. If a
producer finds that the cost for producing specific items is getting higher than supply of that item will
begin to decrease as it is not economically sound to continue to make a large amount of these items.
Technology has a direct affect on supply, as it becomes easier and less expensive to produce an item
more of that item is produced. As with the demand curve expectation also has an affect on the supply
curve, if consumers expect the cost of a product to increase they will buy more of that items which
causes a decrease of supply. An example of this would be when the price of gas is expected to raise
people will fill their car up and also fill gas containers. Tax also has an effect on the supply curve as it
does on the demand curve, as taxes increase on a specific items then the supply for that particular
items increase as people stop purchasing the item. In an article titled Research focuses on Dining
Pattern, Demographics, it was reported that dining out has declined. This decline is closely related to
housing problems and rising gas prices. The research indicted that the most effected by the economy
problems are the Baby Boomers (ages 43 to 62) research show that these individual tend to reserve
dining out for special occasions. The

The Interlopers Epilogue Analysis
The Interlopers: Epilogue Who are they? Asked Georg quickly, straining his eyes to see what the other
gladly would not have seen. Wolves. The two men lay in the snow, listening to the branches creak in
the forest. Silence. A crow cawed in the distance, interrupting the calm only for a second. As the two
men s fate approached, they began to perceive things that they had never experienced before. All the
crackling, shuffling, and whistling became crystal clear to them, and they wondered how they had
never heard these sounds before. Little shimmers and sparkles caught their eyes as if to tell them to
enjoy their last moments in this world. Frost glittered in the slivery moonlight, cascading upon them
through an opening in the dense canopy

Reflective Essay For Journalism
I selected journalism as my elective for this year because I wanted to continue the journalism career
that I began in middle school since it allowed me to write about topics that grasped my interest and
passion aside from writing required essays in a classroom setting. In addition, I believed that this
course would allow me to improve my writing skills by learning the ethical, grammatical, and
organizational concepts relating to journalism, such as the code of ethics, the inverted pyramid, and
the editorial hierarchy. I also hoped for the course to help me with responsibility and time
management since I knew I would have to write articles and have other loads of works from other
classes. Not to mention, journalism has allowed me to be motivated to write an outstanding article not
for the grade, but for the sole purpose to make the article right. In middle school journalism was an
extracurricular activity and this year I was graded on my personal interests, my time management, and
my writing quality rather than on the actual learning of a subject. This course has challenged me to
write outstanding pieces of work based on my motivation and time management as well without as
many guidelines and structure given. It also made me a lot more confident since it requires interaction
outside of class to acquire sources for articles. Thus, through reporting I able to establish a rapport
with people and build a network. Overall, this course had helped me become a people person,

Heart Is A Lonely Hunter Essay
The battle between an individual and their inner self is widely depicted throughout different genres
and distinct times in history. In The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter, a novel written by Carson McCullers,
the battle proves to be a major issue which multiple characters deal with. The main character, a deaf
mute named John Singer, comes into a town where the story takes place and ends up becoming a
counselor like figure who the residents confided in frequently, but all of the residents decided to reveal
parts of their lives separately. An underlying theme is that despite Singer helping those around him
dealing with their problems, he never discloses the fact that he is also dealing with his own issues,
meaning that he projects a different person to others than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This begins to take a toll on Singer, and after visiting the town where he and Anastopoulos lived,
Singer thought of Anastopoulos stuck in the asylum, but despite trying to remember of the room that
Anastopoulos was in tonight, that room would not become clear in his mind. The emptiness was very
deep inside of him (McCullers 208) The diction in this quote indicates how by coming back to the
town where he and Anastopoulos lived, and by reliving their memories there, it intensifies Singer s
battle with his inner self. Words such as The emptiness was very deep inside of him reveal how Singer
has been affected negatively by coming back to his old town. McCullers references that the emptiness
is deep inside of him to convey that his inner self realizes that Anastopoulos has done more harm than
good, but Singer refuses to accept it and continues to fight his inner self. After the fight between
Singer and his inner self worsens, he decides to return back to the town so he can further help the
residents, and further conform to social expectations by trying his best to think about and focus on the
issues that the townspeople are

Essay about The Representation of Power in Cormier s The...
Inspired by the actions of his son, Robert Cormier decided to write this novel titled The Chocolate
War. Cormier s son Peter, had refused to sell chocolates at his school s annual sale as a matter of
principle (Kemp1), so Cormier thought that it would be an interesting plot for a book. In this book,
Robert Cormier introduces us to many characters that personify evil in order to try to control and
manipulate each other to gain power. The concept of power is represented in many different ways
throughout this novel. In this paper I will explain how power is represented in The Chocolate War, and
how it works. I will explain the different kinds of power that operate in the school. Also I will explain
whether the protagonist Jerry Renault ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter 3 we are reminded that The Chocolate War is also a coming of age novel. When Jerry looks
at the pornographic magazine, he is now beginning to want to know and understand the processes of
adolescent and adulthood. So he buys a magazine with the curiosity of what kind of satisfaction the
other kids were receiving by glaring at the images in the magazines. He is in that stage of wanting to
be accepted. Cormier made Jerry s character out to be an outcast, being the one that would always get
beaten up by the bully. Which proved to be correct when Emile Janza, the school s bully begins to
pick on him. Although Emile was the school s bully he too, respected the Vigils to a certain extent.
Archie was also a bully, but he bullied the minds of the other kids. He did not resort to physical abuse
but he indeed psychologically bullied people including Emile Janza.
Fear also played a factor throughout this story. Fear is what made the Goober go into Brother Eugene s
room and loosen all of the screws from the furniture. This brings us back to the psychological bullying
of Archie, because the Goober was mentally sick when he found out that the actions of his assignment
had made Brother Eugene sick. The other students were also frightened by the Vigils so they to carried
out any assignments that they were given. This story is written with a lot of hidden symbols and
meanings within the events that occur. Jerry also feared the Vigils at first but as the story

he met his teacher Dronacharya who taught all of his brothers after helping Arjuna retrieve the ball.
Under his guidance Arjuna became the most powerful archer even better than his own son

Junk Food Tax
Recently cook county Illinois, the county that Chicago occupies, repealed their junk food tax after
only two months. While the tax might decrease obesity, it comes at a very large cost, which is our state
should not have a junk food tax. There should be no junk food tax because it would not completely
solve the obesity problem, it would negatively impact the junk food industry and retailers that sell
these products, and because most consumers are not in favor of the tax. Taxing these junk food
products alone would not solve the obesity problem completely. To completely solve the obesity
problem you should use alternatives such as educating about the effects of eating these foods. Simply
taxing the foods that would not stop the people from purchasing and consuming these foods, it would
just make them unhappy with their government. Another reason is that sugary junk foods are not the
only things contributing to the problem. Lack of exercise and consumption of too much meats and
grains also contributes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the places where the tax has went into effect obesity has been down. It is also said that sugary drinks
alone contribute to greatly to cases of type two diabetes. Mexico is one of the places that has
implemented the junk food tax the sales of sugary drinks dropped by approximately five and a half
percent in twenty fourteen, and nine and seven tenths percent in twenty fifteen (Sanger Katz, Margot).
It is estimated that one hundred eighty nine thousand three hundred cases of diabetes will be prevented
with the junk food tax (Sanger Katz, Margot) . It is also estimated that it could save up to eighteen

The Right to Die with Dignity and without Pain
Dr. Jack Kevorkian was charged with second degree murder and served an eight year prison sentence.
(Fridstein. 1). This accomplished physician graduated from the University of Michigan with an
impressively high IQ. He was a writer, inventor, movie producer and classical composer. (Kevorkian).
Why would a man so intelligent and successful end up in jail for murder? Well believe or not he
purposely challenged the legal system in a one man crusade to ignite a national discussion on the
subjects of assisted suicide, Euthanasia and one s constitutional right to choose. Euthanasia is a
medical procedure that involves a person being induced with a soothing, relaxing medicine that allows
them a peaceful passing. Dr. Kevorkian s attorney, Geoffrey Fieger, summed it up best when he said,
We re just talking about the right not of children and not of mentally incompetent people but the right
of mentally competent adults to make decisions about their own bodies as to how much suffering they
have to undergo. (Kevorkian). Euthanasia is not for people experiencing temporary illness or
unhappiness. It s for people who are imprisoned by their own unbearable physical pain for the rest of
their lives with no way out. Is it fair to not give those people a choice? Is it fair to make them slowly
deteriorate while losing their dignity? I think not. That is why I support euthanasia being legalized,
Dying is not a crime. (Fridstein. 1).
It s understandable that some of us are bound by religious

Essay on Impact of West Nile Virus on Humans
The Impact of West Nile Virus on Humans (or Why We Should Worry)
West Nile virus can infect humans, but there are more drastic ways that it affects our lives. The virus
normally lives in birds and is transmitted among them and other animals by mosquitoes. There is no
other definite method of transmission, and people do not have to worry about contracting the virus
through contact with infected humans or animals. Hundreds of species of birds and many mammals,
including several endangered species, are vulnerable to the virus. Many domestic animals are also
susceptible, but the virus does not create any symptoms in most of them. There is no way of getting
rid of the virus once an animal has been infected, but a vaccine for horses has ... Show more content

numbness, and paralysis. Because West Nile is a virus, it cannot be cured by antibiotics. People who
display serious symptoms are given supportive treatment, which may include intravenous fluids and
respiratory support until they recover (CDC, 2004).
Animals found in the wild are also susceptible to West Nile virus. It is fatal to up to 285 species of
birds, which are the reservoirs that the virus normally lives in (CDC, 2005). Members of the avian
family Corvidae, which includes crows, ravens, magpies, and jays (CDC, 2003), are especially
vulnerable to West Nile virus, as seen during the 1999 New York epidemic, when hundreds of crows
died from the virus. Other animals that have been found carrying the virus include squirrels,
chipmunks, skunks, and bats (Lee, 2003). Although humans do not have to worry about becoming
infected by West Nile virus by handling infected animals, they should be aware that reports of animals
that have died from the virus is an indication that there are mosquitoes that are carrying the virus in
the area. Some endangered or threatened species are also susceptible to West Nile virus, including
Asian elephants, great Indian rhinoceros,

The Death Of The Native American Population
Suicide in the Native American Population of the Northeastern United States While the Native
American population encounters many health disparities; of growing concern, is the rates of suicide
among these communities. The U.S. National Library of Medicine defines health disparities as the
variation in rates of disease occurrence and disabilities between socioeconomic and /or geographically
defined population groups . When looking at the Native American population of the northeastern
United States, there are many factors that contribute to these alarming numbers. These include gun
availability, rural locations of communities and reservations, privacy of Native people, distrust of
outside help, alcoholism, depression, lack of resources, and acculturation stress. Many of these factors
are a way of life for the Native American population. Guns are in most homes and used for hunting
and sport. The rural locations are a way of being surrounded by all that is living and therefore, well
being of the people. Alcohol abuse is a learned and shared behavior among many families and
throughout the generations. The high rates of depression are often self medicated and contribute to the
substance abuse issues already abundant within the community. It is a difficult situation to realize the
very culture of a people may be the conduit to the problems they encounter. This can make the health
care provider s jobs even more difficult. As Paquin (2011) explained, When nurses focus

  • 3. Gender Inequality In The Healthcare Sector Executive Summary In the healthcare sector, gender equality is based on providing equal opportunities for men and women in all areas or settings. Gender can be defined as those characteristics of men and women that are socially constricted and determined while sex is associated with characteristics that are biologically determined. There is a lack of demand and support for advanced research on women health and diseases, specifically decision makers, support staff, or even researchers and authors. Many young women and adolescents have found it difficult to access, utilize, or even make their own decisions in context to reproductive health, specifically abortions, unsafe pregnancies, and pacing. Women and men from low income, culturally background, and poor socio economic conditions are deprived of basic healthcare facilities. In the past decade, gender inequality in the healthcare sector has been associated with age, poverty, socioeconomic condition, and ethnic diversity of men and women. Gender inequality is not only restricted to healthcare access and utilization but also affects men and women who seek employment opportunities. In most cases, only men are dominant in working for specific healthcare positions. Contribution from women healthcare workers or staff is lower compared to the male workforce that is huge in many areas of the healthcare system. There is a lack of services and products for women and men coming from culturally minority or low income groups. Gender ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Religious Convictions Of The Greeks During prehistoric times, the Greeks had outright and unquestionable admiration for their divine beings. They showed their reverence by putting set up numerous ceremonies and festivals to worship the divine beings that they adored to guarantee concordance with them. Specifically, the center will be on the religious convictions of the Greeks, including request to God and present, and also on celebrations and human expressions, for example, the old Olympic recreations and theater. These parts of their society made a critical commitment to their personal satisfaction and the subjects will be analyzed in connection to the twelve Olympian divine beings, and their partners. The old Greeks practiced a religion that was essentially, a building ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Olympian religion is very complex meaning that each god had its purpose to them and they were loyal to each god by trying to satisfy them in their own way. The Greek divine beings were depicted as people, which implied that they were not great. That is, the divine beings committed errors, felt torment, and experienced outrage and had their tempers. The religion was custom based and had no standard ministries, no progressive framework, and no blessed/holy content or good code. Numerous researchers accept that the religion and society comprised of stories told and made due through oral convention, which are the myths that we know today. In the myths that have made due through the ages, the Greeks utilized the divine beings as a way to defend anything that they couldn t comprehend or deductively clarify. For instance, when thunder and lightning tumbled from the sky joined by downpour, it was accepted that Zeus, the divine force of the sky, was in charge of it. Furthermore, it was possibly a sign that he was angered with the people for something wrong they did. In that admiration, the Greeks accepted that Zeus and his Olympian divine beings were of the best criticalness. Every God had their own sanctuary, and inside these sanctuaries the ministers or priestesses verified that the tenets of offering were being watched. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Impact Of Digital Technology On Children Lunar Singsomphone English 105 014 Fall 2017 The Impact of Digital Technology on Today s Children In a world dominated by technology, it is appropriate for adults to have concerns about the impact it is having on children. While most of this concern does stem from the experiences of their own childhood when there was less technology, more play time outside, and life was just simply much easier, the fact of the matter is that the children today and the future generations to come are going to grow up in a technological realm. Today, children as young as four years old, are regularly using digital technology on multiple different platforms such as the Internet, mobile devices, and gaming consoles. A 2013 Nielsen Connected Devices report found that in households that have a tablet and/or computer and with children under 12 years of age, 70% of the children used the tablet; 70% of those children used it for entertainment purposes, and 57% used the tablet for educational purposes. The report, of course, raises the obvious question of rather or not early exposure of digital technology can have negative effects on child development especially regarding their brains. In truth, there is no easy answer because like most things in life, there are both good and bad attributes to it and the exact same thing can be applied in this situation. For instance, while technology can be used for positive educational purposes, there are also serious psychological concerns. The digital technology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Sympathy In The Book Thief For my fiction book, I have decided to read The Book Thief , by the Australian writer Markus Zusak. The story begins with an introduction narrated by Death personified. I ve found that unlike the many times I ve read about this being and their thought process , this one is almost kinder in a way. It is not a heartless being that has merely grown bored of it s eternal task, it feels sympathy for those he effects, both directly and indirectly. It seems to take an almost childish interest in the main protagonist, Liesel Meminger, one filled with innocence and curiosity. As for her, I have found myself feeling a great deal of both sympathy and empathy for her. On her way to her foster parents home, her 6 year old brother, Werner, falls ill and dies right in front of her, and they, she and her mother, are forced to bury him in a graveyard along the railroad tracks. This is where she steals her first book, The Gravedigger s Handbook. Once she arrives at her new home, 33 Himmel Street in Molching, Germany, she meets her foster parents, Hans and Rosa Hubermann. Rosa is violent to some extent, often beating Liesel over the head with a wooden spoon, as well as using excessively foul language, often calling Liesel and Hans filthy pigs . Despite this however, Rosa still loved Liesel, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Nigger In The English Language In the English language, nigger is an ethnic slur usually directed at black people. The word originated as a neutral term referring to people with black skin, as a variation of the Spanish/Portuguese noun negro, a descendant of the Latin adjective niger . It was often used disparagingly, and by the mid 20th century, particularly in the United States, its usage became unambiguously pejorative, a racist insult. Accordingly, it began to disappear from popular culture, and its continued inclusion in classic works of literature has sparked controversy. In the contemporary United States, using the word is taboo, and it is often replaced with the euphemism the N word . Nigga , is sometimes used among African Americans as a neutral or term of endearment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... W. Fowler states that applying the word nigger to others than full or partial negroes is felt as an insult by the person described, betrays in the speaker, if not deliberate insolence, at least a very arrogant inhumanity ; but the second edition states: N. has been described as the term that carries with it all the obloquy and contempt and rejection which whites have inflicted on blacks. . Victorian writer Rudyard Kipling used it in How the Leopard Got His Spots and A Counting Out Song to illustrate the usage of the day. Likewise, P. G. Wodehouse used the phrase Nigger minstrels in Thank You, Jeeves, the first Jeeves Bertie novel, in admiration of their artistry and musical tradition. See also below under Literary . As recently as the 1950s, it may have been acceptable British usage to say niggers when referring to black people, notable in mainstream usages such as Nigger Boy brand candy cigarettes, and the color nigger brown or simply nigger ; however, by the 1970s the term was generally regarded as racist, offensive and potentially illegal along with nig nog , and golliwog . Agatha Christie s book Ten Little Niggers was first published in London in 1939 and continued to appear under that title until the early 1980s, when it became And Then There Were None. North ... • 8. Nickel And Dimed On By Barbara Ehrenreich The article Nickel and Dimed On (Not) Getting By In America written by Barbara Ehrenreich, who has a PHD in biology, informs the reader about the struggle a low wage worker in America has to go through. Ehrenreich goes undercover and takes low wage jobs to experience how a person with minimum wage of $6 $7/hour survives. During her experiment Ehrenreich only uses the money she earns from her job to pay rent, buy groceries,do laundry, pay for phone, and car. Throughout the article Ehrenreich s purpose is to make high class feel grateful for what they have but at the same time she encourages them to rally support to change conditions for low wage workers. Ehrenreich uses rhetorical techniques of syntactic repetition, pathos, ethos, and evidence to persuade middle and high class Americans to realize the need to raise the minimum wage in order for low wage workers to live comfortable lives. One of the many rhetorical techniques Ehrenreich uses is syntactic repetition as a way of instilling emotions in a readers in order to make them feel sorry for the conditions low wage workers endure and then help in some capacity. In very first sentence of the article Ehrenreich lists; At the beginning of June 1998 I leave behind everything that normally soothes the ego and sustain the body home, career, companion, reputation, ATM card for a plunge into the low wage workforce (Ehrenreich 243). • 9. Summary Of The Diary Of Anne Frank The Diary of Anne Frank, is a book of the writings from the Dutch language diary kept by Anne Frank while she was in hiding for two years with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. The family was apprehended in 1944, and Anne Frank died of typhus in the Bergen Belsen concentration camp in 1945. The diary was retrieved by Miep Gies, who gave it to Anne s father, Otto Frank, the family s only known survivor, just after the war was over. The diary has since been published in more than 60 languages. In August 1944, they were discovered and deported to Nazi concentration camps. They were long thought to have been betrayed, although there are indications that their discovery may have been accidental, that the police raid had actually targeted ration fraud .Of the eight people, only Otto Frank survived the war. Anne died when she was 15 years old in Bergen Belsen, from typhus. The exact date of her death is unknown, and has long been believed to be in early March, a few weeks before the prisoners were liberated by British troops in April 1945. However, new research in 2015 indicated that Anne may have died in February. Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who lived and died during the Holocaust. The Frank family hid from the Nazis for two long years in a Secret Annex at the back of a warehouse. During that time, Anne kept a diary in which she not only wrote about the horrors of war but the everyday problems of being a teenager. Selected for labor due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Argumentative Essay About Climate Change Climate change limits the opportunities that future generations have, especially the most poorest and most vulnerable. It is our duty to change how people treat/use the earth, educate, and get involved in our communities that can have a huge impact on improving the lives of the vulnerable populations affected by climate change. When people know how to treat and use the earth, it can be a useful solution. Many of us don t understand that the way we treat the earth now will affect us in the future or other generations. Some of the things people can do is just the basic needs. Places in the United States people are blessed with freshwater out of their kitchen sink, but others are suffering daily to even get a sip of water. It can be easy to just buy a bottle of water at the grocery store, but what do we do when we are done with it? Just toss it in the trash can? Why not reuse it? There is research done by researchers that bottled water is not as safe as tap water in many places. When plastic is left in the sun it can be a dangerous to drink right after it. As much as we try to dispose of plastic it never goes away. The slightest bit of plastic ends up in the ocean. A solution to not waste water, and not having to buy bottled water is easier than we think. The changes start from the smallest gesture of care to the environment. In the article about water: A conversation with Maude Barlow by Helen Caldicott In Canada we ve now had twenty seven municipalities, most of them are cities, ban commercial sales of bottled water. This has been a real campaign. We ve had dozens of school boards across the country ban bottled water, and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities at their annual meeting passed a motion for a full ban across the country. They will not buy or sell a single plastic bottle or container on their premises. And it makes sense. If you are putting all this money into cleaning water and testing it, regulating it and protecting the source, why would you then compete with that by providing bottled water sales? pg By just going to the grocery store and buying a reusable water, can be a solution that can help everyone. As a whole, we need to educate ourselves and understand what is happening to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Deflection Of Cantilever Beam Lab Report INTRODUCTION: The study of large deflection of cantilever beam comes from theory of elasticity. Theory of elasticity state that solid material will deform under the application of an external force it will again regain their original position when external force is removed is referred to as elasticity . We took beam made of nickel titanium alloy which regain their original shape after removing external force act on the beam. It s a prismatic circular cross section beam. Initial shape and curvature of nickel titanium alloy depend upon its length and self weight of the beam large deflection of combined loading was proposed by kyongoo lee [1] finding deflection of non linear elastic cantilever beam and solved governing equation using numerical integration of one parameter shooting method. Bishop and drucker [2] investigate large deflection of cantilever beam of linear elastic material. We are using nitinol (nickel titanium alloy) beam it s having a low modulus of elasticity (E) which shows good spring back behavior which regain its original shape after removing external load. Who s bending stiffness is low compared to other material like stainless steel. Due to this property at very low external load large deflection take place in the beam. • 12. Anti-Semitism In Religion I believe Christianity began as a religion of anti Semitism, however, I do not believe that tradition remained the same in modern day society. Anti Semitism refers to the practice of discrimination and hostility toward those who practice Judaism. Historically, anti Semitism was a long standing custom of whichever empire or ruling power was in charge of Jerusalem and that custom did not exclude Christians when they eventually rose to power during the time of the Roman Empire. In fact, several early Christian homilies and dialogues were spoken against the practice of Judaism, primarily because of their role in the death of Jesus. However, I believe that in modern times the practice of anti Semitism has moved away from a primary religious standpoint and become more focused on cultural practices. The first homily written against the Jews that blamed them for the death of Jesus was preached by Melito of Sardis. The Bishop claims that the death of Jesus is the Jews extraordinary crime, and condemns them for their role in it (143). Moreover, in this sermon, Melito outlines the reasons why the Church of Christianity has displaced the Jewish people and made their religion irrelevant. Melito sates that the type had value/ prior to its realization/ and the parable was wonderful/ prior to its interpretation (137). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 13. Why Independence Is Important And How It Is Vital For The... At MJLK, LLP we are further educating ourselves on Rule 101 of the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct: Independence. To properly learn more about why independence is important and how it is vital for the success of our accounting firm we analyzed the PwC Securities LLC case provided by you. Our firm decided to focus on four key topics to hammer in the idea of independence: SEC punishment, financial services, value added fee arrangements, and prohibited tax services. 1) SEC Punishment The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) acted in a timely and appropriate manner when addressing the forbidden arrangements that were discovered from PwC and PwCS. Although the punishments were deemed harsh, the repercussions were appropriate in this case. The harsh nature of the punishments stemmed from the speculation of the SEC that PwC and Coopers Lybrand officials were well aware that the fee arrangements that were made were banned. The AICPA and SEC govern the rules regarding independence and conflicts of interest that may arise and these companies were well aware of this governance and oversight prior to arranging the contingent fees. There is a distinct breach of independence that is formed from the actions that were made, that deserves a harsh punishment from the SEC. Without punishment from the SEC, there would be a lack of oversight with controlling companies from making arrangements to compromise independence and properly integrate internal controls. One of the most impressive things about the Sistine chapel and one of the most famous works of art in history is Michelangelo s painting on the ceiling of the chapel. The project was completed using fresco. In 1508 Michelangelo was requested by Pope Julius II to repaint the chapel. The Chapel at the time was painted with a blue sky and gold stars. Pope Julius II original request was to have the chapel painted with the twelve Christian Apostles and when the project was completed Michelangelo had created more than 3,000 figures. Completing this large of painting was a monumental task enough even without all the other challenges faced by Michelangelo. Michelangelo accepted this commission regardless and would continue to face many more challenges over the next four years. One of the most obvious challenges that stood in the way of completing this challenging work of art was the fact that it was the ceiling that needed to be painted. A local townsman offered to manufacture scaffolding for Michelangelo that would hang from the ceiling, but Michelangelo refused because he did not want to leave holes in the ceiling from where the scaffolding would have hung. Michelangelo then created his own scaffolding that could be held in place by brackets in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Thank You MaAm Analysis In Thank You Ma am written by Langston Hughes, a young boy by the name of Roger attempts to steal the purse of a woman of the streets. Roger s growth was greatly impacted through the teachings of Ms. Luella Bates Washington Jones, about choice, trust, and about honesty. As Roger is caught he learns a valuable lesson from the compassionate woman who treats him with kindness rather than reporting him to the police. If a person who was nearly robbed caught the thief they would not have been so kind as to do the things the Ms. Jones did for her robber. Every life decision made is a choice, people choose to go one way or another. Roger chose to steal the purse of the women on street. He chose to put himself in a situation that could potentially end badly. After his encounter he did not expect to receive the kindness that he did from the women. The first lesson that Mrs. Jones teaches Roger is that stealing her purse was a choice that he made. It was a choice that was going to have consequences. His choosing to steal her purse was her opportunity to teach him that every choice we make has negative and positive effects. She tells him that it was his choice to put himself in contact with her, and that the contact was not going to be something that he got away with. In this scene Roger is brought home to Mrs. Jones house where she made him wash his face and fed him. When Roger is asked to wash his face, he chooses to do as she says rather than taking advantage of the opportunity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Alexander Mcqueen Chapter One The first designer that s inspired me this unit is Alexander McQueen, a British designer who broke fashion, genre and designer boundaries from the beginning of his career till his suicide in 2010. McQueen s work was often focused around contrasted elements and the energy between them, creating structural and emotionally raw pieces, that were often misconstrued as misogynistic or fetish. I chose to investigate McQueen s work due to the romantic but determinedly contemporary (Dazed article) edge to his work, and bold range of influences; leading him to create diverse collections including many aesthetically and structurally urban pieces, but still within his electric, eccentric (McQueen) style. This is a much more street style piece going back to his ethos of making something practical that works in real life much more wearable Miyake. Also proving the how widely urban influence can be interpreted into form. Miyake s work is ever innovative and timeless. Her uncle has forbidden the burial of a traitor; the traitor happens to be Antigone s brother who has declared war on his city. Antigone must decide: should she be compelled by personal motives and bury her brother the punishment for which is death penalty or should she obey the law and leave her brother s corpse to be feasted upon by vultures? Either of the choices is a risk; both have consequences. And it is around this arithmetic of risks and consequences that Kamila Shamsie s latest novel Home Fire , a modern day retelling of Sophocles Antigone, is built. In this paper, I will analyze the risks taken by the four main characters, and the consequences they face, and the factors that shape these risks and consequences. He brings up a great point stating that when robbery and violence are practiced by normal people its considered injustice, however when this is practiced by mass or most often by rulers or those in charge its considered justice. Since the rulers themselves do not obey the principles that they impose on the citizens, they are themselves unjust . Because of this the tyrant himself is happy because he breaks the rules of justice that he imposes on the weak people below him. Technology has a direct affect on supply, as it becomes easier and less expensive to produce an item more of that item is produced. Not to mention, journalism has allowed me to be motivated to write an outstanding article not for the grade, but for the sole purpose to make the article right. In middle school journalism was an extracurricular activity and this year I was graded on my personal interests, my time management, and my writing quality rather than on the actual learning of a subject. This course has challenged me to write outstanding pieces of work based on my motivation and time management as well without as many guidelines and structure given.
