The main purpose of this report is to discuss the reasons involved in Critical Infrastructure for
Australia and identify their vulnerabilities to prevent them from future attacks which can lead to
conflict.
Secondly, this report will cover the common vulnerabilities attacks that are involved in Critical
Infrastructure. These will be explained in details and will include the identification of the potential
risk of vulnerabilities that are used to offense an attack as well.
This report also includes the migration strategies to prevent further attacks and include the

These are the reasons worldwide governments such as Australia are approaching and reviewing the
risks and eliminate the potential hazards in order to protect their critical infrastructure to keep
running on their system.
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System Network systems (SCADA), Distributed Control
System (DCS) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) are examples of controlling their Critical
Infrastructure. Because once the hackers are able to gain access to the SCADA Network system
and sabotage the system, then the Critical Infrastructure would lead to cyberwar and chaos.
Further details about this topic will be discussed later in this research paper including the
vulnerabilities attacks that are involved in Critical Infrastructure. Potential risk vulnerabilities that
are used to make offense an attack are identified and risk and impact analysis on these potential
risks to prevent from further attacks are also identified.
2.0Significance of the topic
2.1 Common vulnerabilities attacks in Critical Infrastructure
The vulnerabilities attacks in Critical Infrastructure can be very common; and attacks by hackers to
this infrastructure can be deadly. There are 25 vulnerabilities have been identified in critical
infrastructure. These are problematic in our society as these hackers are easy to gain infiltration and

Creation And The Persistence Of Evil By Levenson
In Creation and the Persistence of Evil , Levenson asserts that God s divine omnipotence
originates from his battle with rather than banishment of evil. There are a few textual facts to
consider in analysis of this statement. In an initial class discussion, we examined the fact that
God did not create evil. He created what was and what had the potential to be good (e.g. light,
man), separating it from what is deemed as evil (e.g. darkness). For instance, he did not create the
tree of knowledge of good and evil, but instead drew boundaries. Yet this concept from Genesis
conflicts with one that arises in Psalms 104:26. This verse states that Godcreated the Leviathan, a
sea monster, and later kills him in a battle ( thou brakest the heads of

The Physical Benefits Of Long Distance Running
There is a big topic in the sports and athletic world today surrounding the activity of long distance
running. This seems to be an activity that people either love or hate, and there never really is an in
between. Despite whether a person likes long distance running or not, the topic that this paper will
be focusing on is whether it is beneficial to one s health. After researching the effects that long
distance has, I have concluded that it is a beneficial method to achieve physical fitness and improve
health. Runninghas been shown to improve not only physical health, but also mental health, and
though it is beneficial, there is an incorrect way to run long distances and that is where much of
the argument lies. I will be explaining both the physical and mental advantages of long distance
running as well as explain where the potential injury lies in the activity. Overall, I will be
proving that the activity of long distance running is beneficial. The first part that I will be
focusing on are the physical benefits of long distance running. One of the main physical benefits,
and probably the most popular reason for people to run long distance, is the calorie burning.
Running is an aerobic exercise that makes use of the oxidative energy system our body has. This
prolonged exercise forces the body to produce large amounts of ATP to keep the body moving and
it get this ATP from the stored fats in the body. When the body makes this energy, it takes from the

Speech On Painkillers
It s only natural to head straight for your medicine cabinet when you feel a headache coming on,
but did you know that you re actually putting yourself in danger by relying on painkillers every
time you have a migraine or eye fatigue? Overconsumption of painkillers can and almost always
does lead to the body developing a tolerance to them, which makes your regular dosage ineffective,
meaning you have to increase the number of painkillers you take to get rid of your headache. This,
in turn, can cause you to develop an addiction to painkillers, something that about 10% of
Americans are believed to suffer from.
In order to avoid becoming reliant on painkillers and to ensure they are effective when you do use
them you should always try ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

If you re one of the 28 million Americans who are left deabilited by migraines, you should pay
careful attention to this entry. In cases of severe sinusitis and migraines that refuse to subside,
bypass all previously mentioned pressure points and go straight to the Tian Zhu points.
The Tian Zhu points are unique in that they are located on the back of head. They rest just above
the sides of the neck, where the spine runs into the hairline. Applying pressure to the Tian Zhu
points will ease, and, in some cases, eradicate migraines so that you no longer have to spend
hours lying in a darkened room when you re supposed to be working. The one downside of the
Tian Zhu points is that it can be a challenge to reach them by yourself, so you may need a family
member or particularly obliging colleague to squeeze them for you.

The Machine Stops Summary
In Forster s dystopian short story The Machine Stops , the ways of communication are different
from the conventional practice. Most characters seldom communicate face to face, which is a way
of direct human contact they avoid. This leads to conflict between the characters. Vashti, Kuno s
mother, finds the conversation with Kuno a waste of time and remains unwilling to visit him until
he insists. Kuno, who seems to be a misfit in that world, wants to see his estranged mother, not
through the Machine which Vashti worships and heavily depends on. Other forms of communication
also appear, such as Vashti s monologue like lectures. The various forms of communication are
similar in the way that they usually end abruptly and unhappily. The unresolved... Show more

While Kuno asks Vashti for a visit, she instantly refuses and backs up with the reason that she
dislike[s] airships (Forster, 2) and the horrible brown earth, and the sea and the stars when it is dark
(Forster, 2), from which she get[s] no ideas (Forster, 2). By considering whether an activity allows
them to get ideas, it depicts how characters over rationalise their behaviours that should have been
done out of mere intuition. This foregrounds the theme of ideas being mechanical just like a
machine. Whereas first hand ideas and experiences are conventionally thought to provide the most
intellectual and reliable knowledge, the characters in the dystopian story value second hand ones
more, such as listening to lecture about the sea or reading the Book. That is why Vashti pulls the
window blinds in the airship to avoid seeing the scenery outside. As for Kuno, he tells Vashti that he
believes otherwise and passionately responds that he has a strong interest in looking at the
constellation. The fact that Kuno explores the surface of the earth is an excellent example of
showing his engagement in collecting first hand

Symbolism In Roman Fever
Roman Fever, by Edith Wharton, follows two old friends, Alida Slade and Grace Ansley,
accidentally meeting in Rome after many years apart. The two have a long history together and
spent their whole lies in contest and conflict. Mrs. Slade is a loud and jealous woman, who
always held a deep rooted resentment for Mrs. Ansley. Mrs. Ansley is the more reserved of the two
and self controlled. The setting of their conversation holds deep significance. Mrs. Ansley and Mrs.
Slade both coincidentally are on vacation in Rome, a place of love and beauty. The two eat dinner
together on a terrace overlooking Rome. The romantic scenery reflects the origin of their rivalry. In
their youth, both women vied for the attention of a young man, Delphin Slade. Mrs. Slade seems
anxious to prove her worth over her longtime friend, however, in reality, Mrs. Ansley is the one who
has influence over Mrs. Slade. Wharton uses moonlight and knittingto reveal Mrs. Slade s shallow
attempts to project and hold power over Mrs. Ansley, but her ultimate failure since in the end it is
Mrs. Slade who falls apart.
Moonlight serves as a motif, the darker it inches to night, the darker the nature of the women s
conversation, and the more panicked Mrs. Slade is. They sit outside, talking about their daughters
in the light of the evening or exchanging in a deep silence. It seemed as though, to both, as there
was a relief in laying down their somewhat futile activities in the presence of the vast Memento

The Kingdom Of God In The Gospel Of Luke
The Kingdom of God is an idea that is near impossible to define in one sentence, however there is
one parable in the Gospel of Luke that includes numerous characteristics of the Kingdom of God
and speaks to all groups of people. The Parable of the lost son is one that describes the Kingdom
as overly generous, open to all and forgiving to those who show repentance. In this Parable, a
father s youngest son asks for half of his estate, he is reckless with what he is given, he finds
himself at a low point once he has lost everything and in the end, finds his way back to his father
and repents for what he has done. The father then not only forgives his son and takes him back but
he throws a party in celebration for his return and has the largest

Although the Saturday at Phoenix Simulation was full of fun, friends, and imaginative stations,
there was no other station that represented the hallmark of days that changed the world than Camp
Feenicks, with the greatest attention to detail and simple objective while managing to emphasize
this year s theme.
There was only one thing that everyone noticed as we walked through the Black Box Theater: this
camp looked like the real deal! The dim lighting and ambient sounds of river flow and crickets
through the surround sound speakers gave us the sensation of a peaceful night out under the stars.

never be in peril . Statistically, there was only a minuscule chance of unanimously voting out the

the other groups, and use rhetoric to persuade others to follow in your footsteps, then you were
the best suited to complete the task. Every new day was a day that changed the world or, in this
case, the camp and it relied on the cooperation and deductive reasoning of each of the tents to
decide on which tent smelled of a little more werewolf than the others. Camp Feenicks, therefore,
suggested that you must seek knowledge before making decisions because every move you make
will have a significant impact on the future. This global connection to theme as well demonstrated
in the story was the final reason why Camp Feenicks was the single best station in Phoenix

Russel Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, and Connie Nielsen star in Ridley Scott s famed movie,
Gladiator. This color movie, made in 2000, was based on the time period of the Roman Empire. It

The Colosseum was made to look as similar as possible to the actual Colosseum. They made sure
the fashion, hairstyles, the houses, and weapons were depicted accurately. The producers hired
historians to help them with the facts of history they could correctly portray without disrupting
the plot of the movie, so the setting was kept accurate. The physical settings were accurate to
what they actually would have been, but they were also chosen as symbols. Gladiator is not
based on a true story, so the setting could be chosen to represent the story. The dark forest at the

Nash Street Historic District Starkville Essay
The Nash Street Historic District a significant part of Starkville due to it being one of the cities
earliest twentieth century suburb. It signifies the change of Starkville from a minor, agricultural
town to a contemporary, university oriented city in response to the development of Mississippi A

until it is picked apart and examined. They both have very distinct similarities as well as
differences. Although both have diverse layouts, the deeper you look into its intellectual properties
you can find surprising similarities. A confusion may overcome you as you look at this and think
how could you possibly compare Inferno to A Christmas Carol? They were not easy to find, but if
you look deep enough into something you can certainly surprise yourself. In each story, there are

Scrooge s life is vaguely going downhill in the story by his rudeness towards others and his need
for monetary gain. He realizes he is in a crisis to change his way of life, and if he does not he
will be sent to Hell. Whereas in Inferno, Dante s crisis is getting to heaven, but if he does not
change his way of life he will stay in Hell as he travels through it. He had a guide just as Scrooge
did to help see how their sins could end them in Hell. Each story shows how Scrooge and Dante
had strayed away from the simple, beaten path to Heaven. They both take the indirect path by
being shown the sins not to inherit. As Dante journeyed through Hell, he stopped in each level and
acknowledged each of the sinners stories. He learns that certain sins determined their level of hell
and punishment. Dante learns not to acquire these sins. Whereas in A Christmas Carol, Dickens
solely focuses on just Scrooge s sins, but he is shown by the ghosts how he became the man he was.
Lastly, Scrooge s friend, Jacob Marley had sent to him the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present,
and Future to help guide him through his expedition of his own life. Marley was Scrooge s only
friend during his younger years and all the way up to the end of Marley s life. Similar to Dante s
lover, Beatrice who had sent Virgil to help mentor Dante through Hell. These are alike due to the
important role of Marley in Scrooge s life and, the importance

World War I And The United States Essay
World War I was unlike any other war before it. The total casualties reached about about 38
million, with over 17 million deaths, 7 million of them being civilians, and 20 million wounded.
World War I was well known for the extensive system of trenches from which men of both sides
fought, the lethal new technologies unleashed such as poison gas, and for the battles under the sea
and in the skies. At first, the two sides consisted of the Allies: France, Britain, and Russia, against
the Central Powers: Germany, Austria Hungary, and Turkey. As the war carried on however, the
tides turned towards the Central Powers. Needing help, the Allies turned towards America for
assistance. The United Stateshowever, were very reluctant at first, sticking to their public policies.
Trading with both sides of the belligerents, the United States did not want to halt their booming
economy, and the large number of protests by immigrant citizens made joining the war even less
desirable. It was only after Britain s decision to blockade Germany, Germany s announcement to
resume unrestricted submarine warfare, and the British discovery of the Zimmerman Telegram that
the United States finally decided to join the war. When World War I
began, The United States made
it clear that they didn t want to be involved in the war, and maintained their neutrality. Isolationism

Essay on Paramecium movement assignment BES108
Paramecium movement assignment: Answer the following questions and hand in at the beginning
of the next lab.
1. Describe how Paramecium moves in aquatic environments?
For the paramecium to move forward, its cilia beat on an angle, backward in unison. The
paramecium moves by spiraling through the water. For the paramecium to move backward, the
cilia beat forward on an angle at the same time. If the paramecium runs into a solid object, the cilia
changes its direction and beats forward, which makes the paramecium go backward. The
paramecium turns slightly and goes forward again. If it runs into the solid object again it will do
the same thing until it can get past the object.

I observed that they were at rest for 100% of the time. There was no change in direction. The
Paramecium speed was 0 compared to all the other solutions which were average.
The mechanisms of these changes are because of the different water chemistry of the solutions.
4. Based on your results discuss the effects of environment on type of motion in Parameci
The type of effect the dryl solution had on the motion of the paramecium was that they kept moving
forward. They averaged an avoidance frequency of 1.6minutes, and they were moving at a pretty
fast speed. The duration of the movement (forward) was 8.8 minutes out of the 10 minutes I was
observing them.
The type of effect the barium solution had on the motion of the paramecium was that they didn t
move forward as much. They were still moving at a pretty fast speed. They had the same avoidance
frequency of 1.6. The duration of the movement was 11.7 (I watched the paramecium for 15
minutes for this test because I forgot to start my timer at the beginning.)
The type of effect the sodium solution had on the motion of the paramecium was that they only
moved forward for half the time, the other half of the time they were in a jerking motion and a
paranoid motion as well. Their avoidance frequency was 4.8, which is much higher than the dryl
solution and the barium solution. They were still moving at a pretty fast speed like the other
solutions but they

Nursing Ethical Dilemmas
Ethical and legal dilemmas are issues that nurses face in their professional careers. Nurses are
accountable for safe and appropriate administration of medication. With the growth in malpractice
lawsuits it is important that nurses take certain precautions to limit the risk of lawsuits. Nurses can
limit the risk of liability through maintaining open communication with patients, expertise in
practice, attention to details, and autonomy. (Burkhart Nathanial, 2013).

Mine Descriptive Writing
It is mine. The golden sun that shines and kisses the tops of my shoulders. The wisps of white
clouds traveling within a baby blue sky. The gentle breeze that coils itself around my arms
providing relief from the warming sun. The sapphire sea and its serene waves rolling gently out to
shore onto the finely grained sand. It is all mine.
It is mine. Even the darkened sky when the sun cannot be seen. Even the blackened clouds that
blanket the sky. Even the blistering winds that pierce my skin with frozen shards. Even the dusky
sea and its roaring waves crashing against jagged edged boulders, creating a thick coat of foam as
white as seagulls feathers. It is all mine.
It is the sea. And all of it mine. I wear a single drop of the sapphire sea encased within a small,
marquise shaped stone. I wear the foam from roaring waves gathered up into two rounded
diamonds. I wear the finely grained, yellow gold sand that surrounds it all, and lifts everything up
in a cathedral mount. I wear my ring. Even now, it gingerly hugs my finger.
But it s not truly mine. The sea can never belong to me. And the ring doesn t belong to me. And
the ring no longer represents the love and bond between two people. And the ring has no purpose
other than to exist. Or at least that is what I tell myself. But I feel my gut twisting, my head
pounding, and my heart beat quickening, and I know that what I tell myself is wrong.

Essay on Fundamentalism and Inerrancy of Scripture
Inerrancy as an Issue in the Fundamentalist Movement: 1900 to the Present. A Paper Submitted to
Dr. Homer Massey In Partial Fulfillment Of the Requirements for the Course History of Christianity
II CHHI 525 By, Johnny walker INERRANCY OF THE SCRIPTURES Outline Fundamentalism is
a type of religious reaction to all forms of modernity. Within Christianity this phenomenon is mostly
characteristic of Protestantism but is also found in Catholicism. In fact, the term fundamentalism

of that century that the term began to be applied to some... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Opposing their extremist positions, in 1942 the moderates created a World Evangelical Association
that the fundamentalists attacked. The fundamentalists became visible again in the last third of the
20th century, reacting against the liberal trends in major Protestant churches. Catholicism The
fundamentalist movement in the Catholic Church has not been significant. The infallibility of the
Bible is not a dogma for Catholics, thus offering little ground for fundamentalism. Catholicism
allows some leeway for developing dogma (John Henry Newman ) as well as for the importance of
tradition and, in contrast to the fundamentalists, it does not consider the Bible to be the only
authority. Catholic movements today emphasize the conservative pontifical documents from the
last few centuries and are wary of the more moderate decrees of Vatican II (Monsignor LefГЁbvre s
anti Vatican II movement in France is a vivid example). These movements did not draw undue
attention from the hierarchy , but they did influence certain informal developers of fundamentalism
among some Catholics. Some such influences came from relations with Protestants such as through
charismatic movements that crossed denominational borders. Main Characteristics of
Fundamentalism The array of conservative, orthodox , and other traditional movements are not

Food Protein Derived Bioactive Peptides ( Bps )
Abstract
Food protein derived bioactive peptides (BPs) have been reported to trigger certain physiological
responses in the body, thereby influencing health positively. These peptides have attracted high
research and consumer interests due to their huge potential of use in functional foods and other
dietary interventions of disease control and health promotion. However, successful product
development is limited by the fact that current manufacturing processes are either difficult to scale
up, high in cost, or have the potential to affect the structure activity properties of these peptides. To
overcome these challenges, we have proposed in this review, the use of omic techniques and high
throughput simulation models to forecast the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Introduction
Over the years, it has become a known fact that health and nutrition are intricately linked. Not only
do food nutrients supply the necessary biomolecules for various metabolic activities, but, in some
cases, food nutrients are able to trigger certain desirable physiological responses in the body. Food
proteins and hydrolysates thereof are amongst the most well studied bioactive molecules (Danquah
and Agyei, 2012). Bioactive peptides have been defined as protein hydrolysates which, upon entry
and absorption into the body, have the ability to induce certain desirable and physiologically
measurable hormone like activities(Korhonen and Pihlanto, 2006). Some biological functions
induced by these peptides include immunomodulatory, cytomodulatory, opiate, antihypertensive,
antimicrobial, antithrombotic and metal chelation activities (Möller et al. , 2008). As natural
products of food origin, bioactive peptides have a huge potential in health promoting functional
foods and therapeutic products(Korhonen, 2009).However, this potential is not being realised as a
result of certain bioprocess challenges. The lack of commercially viable processes for large scale

Pastoral Elegy; Alternating Iambic Pentameter and Trimeter, Irregular Rhyme
Dead friend? Check.
Shepherds? Check.
That s it, folks. That s all you need to know about this poem to conclude that Lycidas is a pastoral
elegy.
Great. But wait, what s a pastoral elegy? Awesome question. It s a type of poem invented by the
Greek speaking Sicilian poet Theocritus in the third century BCE. There are two parts to this poem:
the elegy part, and the pastoral part.
Milton covers the elegy angle by making this poem about his dead friend Edward King. An elegy
is a poem mourning the death of someone, who is almost always a fellow poet. Done.
As for the pastoral portion, well a pastoral poem is one that idealizes shepherds and country life,
often presenting it as timeless and easy going. In the poem, Lycidas and the speaker are shepherds
who, before Lycidas death, had a merry old time steering their sheep around the countryside.
These two types of poetry are combined in the pastoral elegy, a genre in which the speaker of the
poem memorializes a fellow poet using a number of features of the pastoral poem. In Lycidas, the
speaker frequently refers to an idyllic past in which he and

The Formation Of Prebiotic Compounds On Early Earth And...
The Formation of Prebiotic Compounds on Early Earth and in the Solar System By Trevor
Harrison GE 70A: Evolution of Cosmos and Life Scientists have long sought to understand the
origin of prebiotic compounds and its transition into self replicating biological structures, both
as an explanation for life s emergence on earth and as an assessment of the abundance of life in
the solar system and the galaxy. In 1952, Stanley L. Miller and Harold C. Urey performed
experiments demonstrating that the basic foundation of life could be formed when abiotic
molecules that existed on early Earth were jolted with appropriate amounts of energy. However,
current models of the composition of early Earth s atmosphere show that it would be difficult for
amino acids to have formed unless they did so in the deep ocean. Martins et al. (2006) explores
whether these compounds could have been formed by the impact shock of one celestial body
slamming into another. Succeeding research has investigated whether amino acids formed in space
can survive the journey to Earth and discovered, in space, some of the prebiotic compounds
posited in Martins et al. Researchers theorized that prebiotic compounds could have built up over
time in the Early Earth s oceans and then been jolted together with bicarbonate by the impact of the
falling meteor. The study was successful in producing amino acids under these conditions. No
matter their source of origin on early Earth, amino acids alone cannot form a self

Is The Self Mutilation Is Characterized By Autoagressive...
Self mutilation is characterized by autoagressive behaviors without intent to die, and is not
uncommonly encountered in clinical practice, with an estimated prevalence of 4.3% in general
psychiatric patients. The highest incidences of self mutilation have been reported in prisoners,
institutionalized teenagers with antisocial traits, and among those diagnosed with autism,
schizophrenia, intellectual disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries [1].
Major self mutilation is a rare, severe manifestation of deliberate self harm that results in perpetual
loss of function or capacity of an organ and constitutes a medical/surgical and psychiatric
emergency[2]. Notably the act of major self mutilation usually is associated with delusions or
hallucinations [3].Auto emasculation, a subtype of major self mutilation, typically manifests in the
context of schizophrenia[4] , and presents a significant management challenge for both medical
/surgical and psychiatric providers, in part because of the lack of clinical guidelines for
pharmacological management.
Here, we describe a patient with schizoaffective disorder who presented with status post auto
emasculation in context of severe psychosis. While penile reattachment was unsuccessful, the
patient s psychotic symptoms responded well to clozapine, a third line antipsychotic medication that
has been demonstrated to be effective for treatment of aggressive behaviors [5]. To our knowledge,

These valves are designed to control the direction of blood flow through the heart. The opening
and closing of these valves produce the heart beat sounds. When the heart beats, the valves close
to keep the blood form flowing backwards. The heart beats more than one hundred thousand
times per day. The valves must be able to flex, stretch and hold back pressure hundreds of
million times in an average lifetime. The mitral and aortic valves are on the left side of the
heart. These are most commonly affected by aging because the pressure is higher on this side.
The right heart valves can be damaged by infection or lung disease. Regardless of the valve
damage, as they harden or weaken they do not open properly and therefore blood flow may be
blocked. Heart valve conditions may also be congenital. Diseases such as rheumatic fever or
bacterial infections may also scar or destroy the valves. Heart valve diseases fall into two
categories, stenosis and incompetence. The stenotic heart valve prevents full opening of the valve
because of the stiffened valve tissue, therefore the heart works harder to push blood throughout the
valve. The incompetent valve cause insufficient blood circulation by permitting backflow of blood
on the heart. There are two main types of prosthetic valve designs: mechanical and bioprosthetic
(tissue). Mechanical heart valves were first implanted in 1952. Since then, over 30 different
mechanical designs have originated. The

Normalization is a process in the database design process which is done to ensure that the right

1NF ensures that there are no multi valued attributes in any table. 2NF is used to eliminate any
partial dependencies and ensure that all non key columns depend on the entire primary key. I

In the department table, department id being the primary key needs to be unique, but a
department could have more than one product. Hence I gave a system assigned primary key to
the department table. Now, it leads to transitive dependencies as department name was
determined by department id and did not depend on the primary key. Hence to bring the table to
3NF I made a separate department table and added a junction table to link product and
department. (3) The employee table had a start and end date. This did not cater to the face that
multiple employs could have the same start and end date and also an employee could resign and
join again. Also, the salary could change depending on his tenure. To address this and get the
table to 1NF, I made a separate entity for employee tenure making employee id as the foreign
key linking the employee table. (4) The order table had a primary key order id and columns for
state and tax. The tax was dependent on non key column state and hence the table violated 3NF.
Hence I separated the state and tax columns in a separate column and linked it to the orders table.
(5) The order table initially was designed to include billing. With the provision of a bill to be
cleared in multiple transactions the billing could have multiple values and hence was made a

With a 99.8 literacy rate, Cuba is ranked higher than both Britain and the United states. The
reason for its high literacy rate is because after the revolution, the government sent out students

Women and afro Cubans made up most of the illiterate population, and historically they were

Pretivation Of Child Observation On Child And Children
I observed a male with a female child (approximately 2 years of age) walking around the store to
buy some hot food to eat. The adult carries a basket in one hand and the other hand holds the
child s hand. The child wants to hold the basket which it is full of fresh vegetables and frying
sausages and sticky rice. The adult bends down and says, You can t carry the basket because it s
very heavy and you are still small to carry it. You may hurt yourself. Okay? The child looks a
little sad and replies, Okay. The adult then continues as they both walking away, the adult says,
You can carry it when you get older like Daddy, ok? The child replied with okay!
The method observed was the Cognitive Method (Reasoning)
The evidence supports that this socialization method as cognitive method (reasoning) was that the
male explained to the child that the child was still small and she shouldn t be carry a heavy basket
because she may hurt herself.
What you observed
I observed a small group of 4 people, 1 male and 1 female adults and 2 female child (approximately
1 ВЅ and 3 years of age) blowing bubbles at the park. The male shows both child to blow bubbles
out of a bubble stick. The adult male would try to blow the bubbles first and then gives the two
girls a chance to blow the bubbles. The older child tries to blow air into the whole of the bubble
stick but nothing happens. The adult male shows the child with encouragement and says, You have

Morality In Elie s A Confederacy Of Dunces
Whereas Ignatius rather nonsensical pessimistic worldview comes from his sense of being
morally greater than his society (and, therefore, from looking at it in disgust), and from a position
of general opulence, Elie s stems from a macabre realization that all people, including himself, are
bestial and selfish, and from a position of total destitution. Ignatius believed himself to be a beacon
of moralityin an otherwise dismal society. For instance, throughout A Confederacy of Dunces, he
would write about the evils of the hedonistic, bourgeois society in which he lived, and about how
the world would be in a much better position if based on the medieval principles (such as divine
right and cruel forms of torture) in which he subscribed were put in place. Often, he went to the
movie theater solely to criticize the movies and describe to the audience the changes he would
make in order to make the stories more in tune... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, throughout Night, Elie often remarked of his loss of humanity and emotion.
Whereas, in the beginning of this story, Elie thought himself to be a very moral person, even a
person worthy enough to study the Kabbalah, through his ordeal, he saw that he and all humans
are cruel and act on instinct rather than emotion. This point can be highlighted through Elie s
diminishing concern for his father. Though he often tried to keep himself and his father alive at
the start of their time in the internment camps, Wiesel slowly lost this concern (in fact, he started
to hate his father for being a burden) with time and with the realization of his need to act on
instinct in order to survive. This culminated in the end of the book when Elie totally ignored his
father s pleas for food, and he, instead, wished his father would be taken to be killed sooner.
Considering both of these cases, Ignatius pessimism carries no justification at all, whereas Wiesel s
does.

Comparing A Modest Proposal And The Essay On Man
Beginning in the 1600 s, a period of enlightenment swept through Europe. Scientists such as Sir
Isaac Newton and Thomas Hobbes made revolutionary advances in science, politics, and literature.
This age of restoration and enlightenment valued scientific reasoning, such as in Jonathon Swift s
A Modest Proposal. In addition to the emphasis on logic and intelligence, the 18th century brought
forth an age of self discovery; further explained in Alexander Pope s The Essay on Man. The
Enlightenment Era witnessed many disasters as well. For instance, in The Diary of Samuel Pepys,
a man records the events of the great fire of London. Through these pieces of literature, one can
understand what major events were happening, and how they influenced the lives of society at the
time.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the rich were very wealthy, the poor were severely poverty stricken. Swift s A Modest
Proposal offers a solution to the problem. Ironically, his preposition is anything but modest. He
starts off by saying Surely someone can find a fair, cheap, and easy method of making sound and
useful members of society of these children (p.567). His proposal suggests that the poor sell their
children for the rich to eat. Even though Swift s idea is preposterous, it is a logical (even if
immoral) concept. Besides the irony of the title, satire is present throughout the text. For instance,
Swift writes that it will prevent those voluntary abortions, and that horrid practice of women
murdering their bastard children, alas! (p.568). The author sounds downright horrified at the
thought of taking innocent lives; despite the fact that his proposal would kill the same innocent
children. Jonathon Swift s A Modest Proposal conveys the use of irony in literature of the
enlightenment, while also displaying the significance of logical

Wireless) networks are designed using the wireless networks such as WLANs and fiber
networks like PONs (Passive Optical Networks). Therefore FiWi networks having advantages of
both users mobility support as well as high bandwidth. But the major problem with this networks
is as the number of mobile user s increases, queueing delay is increasing in FiWi s Optical
Network Unit (ONU). There are number of methods recently proposed for minimizing this
queueing delay for bandwidth allocation. However, this methods are only working on PONs and
WLANs and hence not considering the state of ONU. Therefore performance of FiWi networks is
poor in terms of throughput and queuing delay. For any kind of FiWi networks improving its
performance in terms of throughput is very vital. This can be possible by presenting the efficient
queueing delay minimization method for FiWi networks. This is main research problem for this

The story begins with Matthew Maule, the first owner of the land, building a house that is
considered less than average compared to the land. A man, Colonel Pyncheon, wants to take the

the one behind it, and as he stood at the front of the crowd, Maule cursed him. (4) Right before his

Comparison Between Modern Day Music And Langston Hughes...
Comparison of modern day music to Langston Hughes and Paul Laurence Dunbar Poetry has
changed over the course of many years and numerous events in history.Music, as well, changed
the sound and lyrical meanings due to many events in history. Whether music is poetry or not
can be argued, but I believe music is an art represented through sound and lyrics. Music is a form
of poetry with a little tune to it. Music has a message to it just as poetry would. Modern day
music can reflect on many things, just as poetry sometimes refers to events going on in the
world. Many years ago a very controversial topic was the discussion of slavery, and later the
inequality of colored men to whites. Popular American poets, Paul Laurence Dunbar and
Langston Hughes, are two of the very few who would talk about these controversies. Their
poetry consisted of slavery, racial relations and inequality, opportunity, and hope. Their poetry
captures the despair and faith in the colored people through all their oppression. Modern day
music genre and style of hip hop or rap is a style created by African Americans. Present day rap
artists, J Cole and Kendrick Lamar, are two rap artists who have revolutionized music and have
become idolized by many African Americans. The two are known for discussing the reality of
what it is like being a black man in today s society. The poems of Hughes and Dunbar are very
comparable to the songs of Cole and Lamar that discuss oppression, inequality, and hope within

What Was The Federal Theatre Project?????
Throughout the late 1920 s an important theatrical movement developed: The Workers Theatre
Movement. In the end, it diminished around the middle of the 1930 s, and one of the developments
aiding the decline of the Workers Theatre Movement, was the creation of the Federal Theatre Project
. The Federal Theatre Project was the largest and most motivated effort mounted by the Federal
Government to organize and produce theater events. Once the government took on the duty of
putting people to work, it was able to consider the movement. The Federal Theatre Project s

many Americans their first opportunity to attend live theater performances. It sent companies on

Futility In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
William Shakespeare romantic tragedy Romeo Juliet, a play written during the period of 1594
1595, contains many themes enabling it to be relevant to audiences today. This is because human
nature has remained constant since that period. This play is an Elizabethan misfortune set in the
13th century England, which conveys the story of two young star crossed lovers who cannot be
together as their families are embroiled in a feud. In Romeo Juliet, Shakespeare uses this futility to
symbolize the themes of the play such as the individual against the society and also the meaning of
gender during these times and how it affected the play as a whole. These themes in Romeo Juliet
make the audience aware that the play does not have a use by date. The individual versus society
alludes to the tension or drama which ensues when an individual does not like to live inside the
confinements of their culture and society. Much of Romeo Juliet includes these lovers struggles
against open and social establishments that either unequivocally or verifiably restrict the presence
of their affection. In spite of the fact that they don t generally work in concert, each of these societal
institutions somehow displays obstructions for Romeo and Juliet. The hostility between their
families, coupled with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Monty Python And The Holy Grail Satire
In Monty Python and the Holy Grail satire is used quite often to make fun of the Catholic faith. One
of the most noteworthy moments is near the beginning of the movie when the monks are walking
through the town chanting. Monty Python may use rather ludicrous humor to get their point
across; however, they do a good job conveying the faults in the Catholic Churchand display them on
film. The movie does this through setting, characters costumes, and music. Near the beginning
of the movie there is a group of monks seen walking through an impoverished town. Unlike what
one would expect from people of God, the monks do not stop to help anyone or even look at
them. When there are people lying on the ground half dead, most people would think that the
monks would be there to heal and give food to the poor and dying; however, they are seen
passing by with their neat robes on. This represents the complete lack of caring that the upper
class religious leaders show for the common person. In the middle ages, the church had complete
power over the peasants. They had the peasants farm land for them and even pay taxes. The church
influenced peasants to pay tithes, otherwise known as taxes, by threatening them. The church
convinced the peasants that if they did not pay taxes then their souls would go to Hell in the
afterlife. The poor had to pay ten percent of their earnings to the vastly rich church every year. All
of the peasants are too scared to stand against the church

Character Analysis Of The Outsiders
If you were in the book the outsiders, you would be a part of one group, either the greasers or the
socs . The socs came from a rich background and the greasers came from a poor one. In the book
The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton, Johnny and Ponyboy run away after Johnny kills a soc. Then
tension rises between the two gangs, and the church that Johnny and Ponyboy were staying at
sets fire! Johnny and Ponyboy save the kids from the fire and become heroes. The greasers win
the rumble and Johnny dies from his injuries in the fire. Finally Ponyboy writes The Outsiders as
an English paper. The Outsiders is about how Ponyboy grows up with a rivalry between gangs in
the mid 1960s in Tulsa, Oklahoma. One person who stands out in this story is Johnny, a round and
dynamic character whose father abused him and his mother ignores him. Johnny wouldn t know
what love and affection is, if it wasn t for the gang. Johnny can be described as shy, caring and
mature. Johnny can be described as shy for many reasons. One example is when Dally is asking
if anybody wants to go to the movies with him tomorrow night. This is right after Ponyboy got
jumped. Ponyboy said that he and Johnny will go. Ponyboy thought, I knew Johnny wouldn t open
his mouth unless he had to. (Hinton 14) This shows that Johnny agrees with Ponyboy or if he
doesn t, he didn t speak for himself. Another example is when Ponyboy and Johnny are at the
movies with Dally. Johnny looks around for Dally, then manages a shy hi

Ayn Rand s We the Living Essay
Ayn Rand and We the Living
We the Living is not a story about Soviet Russia in 1925. It is a story about Dictatorship, any
dictatorship, anywhere, at any time, whether it be Soviet Russia, Nazi Germany, or which this
novel might do its share in helping to prevent a socialist America. These words, written by Ayn Rand
herself for the foreword to the 1959 printing of her 1936 novel We the Living, convey not only
Rand s direction to the reader to keep in mind the universality of the book s theme, but also her
opinion of communism in 1925 Russia and her suspicion that the United States might be headed
down the same erroneous path. During her lifetime, Rand would write prolifically both fiction and
non fiction, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the seventeen years following her marriage, Rand worked at several jobs, sold her first
screenplay (which was never produced), and witnessed the Broadway production of her play Night
of January 16th. Rand s first novel, We the Living, was published in 1936, three years after its
completion. Two years later, the British publishing house Cassell produced the first printing of
Anthem.
In 1940 Rand worked on the presidential election campaign of Wendell Wilkie, a self described
defender of free enterprise. Rand believed strongly in the
individualism that she thought Wilkie represented and she felt that the trend toward collectivism
under Roosevelt should be opposed. However, during the
election she grew to believe that Wilkie had betrayed his own values, and consequently hers, in his
pursuit of victory. She left that experience disillusioned and distrustful of those who called
themselves conservatives and supporters of capitalism (Gladstein 11).
Rand s The Fountainhead was released in 1943 and received some critical acclaim. Although it
was not initially a best seller, its popularity grew steadily and later in the year Rand sold the film
rights to it for $50,000. Rand was hired to write the screen adaptation. The movie was released in
1949 with Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal in the leading

  • 4. Creation And The Persistence Of Evil By Levenson In Creation and the Persistence of Evil , Levenson asserts that God s divine omnipotence originates from his battle with rather than banishment of evil. There are a few textual facts to consider in analysis of this statement. In an initial class discussion, we examined the fact that God did not create evil. He created what was and what had the potential to be good (e.g. light, man), separating it from what is deemed as evil (e.g. darkness). For instance, he did not create the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but instead drew boundaries. Yet this concept from Genesis conflicts with one that arises in Psalms 104:26. This verse states that Godcreated the Leviathan, a sea monster, and later kills him in a battle ( thou brakest the heads of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Physical Benefits Of Long Distance Running There is a big topic in the sports and athletic world today surrounding the activity of long distance running. This seems to be an activity that people either love or hate, and there never really is an in between. Despite whether a person likes long distance running or not, the topic that this paper will be focusing on is whether it is beneficial to one s health. After researching the effects that long distance has, I have concluded that it is a beneficial method to achieve physical fitness and improve health. Runninghas been shown to improve not only physical health, but also mental health, and though it is beneficial, there is an incorrect way to run long distances and that is where much of the argument lies. I will be explaining both the physical and mental advantages of long distance running as well as explain where the potential injury lies in the activity. Overall, I will be proving that the activity of long distance running is beneficial. The first part that I will be focusing on are the physical benefits of long distance running. One of the main physical benefits, and probably the most popular reason for people to run long distance, is the calorie burning. Running is an aerobic exercise that makes use of the oxidative energy system our body has. This prolonged exercise forces the body to produce large amounts of ATP to keep the body moving and it get this ATP from the stored fats in the body. When the body makes this energy, it takes from the stared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Speech On Painkillers It s only natural to head straight for your medicine cabinet when you feel a headache coming on, but did you know that you re actually putting yourself in danger by relying on painkillers every time you have a migraine or eye fatigue? Overconsumption of painkillers can and almost always does lead to the body developing a tolerance to them, which makes your regular dosage ineffective, meaning you have to increase the number of painkillers you take to get rid of your headache. This, in turn, can cause you to develop an addiction to painkillers, something that about 10% of Americans are believed to suffer from. • 8. The Machine Stops Summary In Forster s dystopian short story The Machine Stops , the ways of communication are different from the conventional practice. Most characters seldom communicate face to face, which is a way of direct human contact they avoid. This leads to conflict between the characters. Vashti, Kuno s mother, finds the conversation with Kuno a waste of time and remains unwilling to visit him until he insists. Kuno, who seems to be a misfit in that world, wants to see his estranged mother, not through the Machine which Vashti worships and heavily depends on. Other forms of communication also appear, such as Vashti s monologue like lectures. The various forms of communication are similar in the way that they usually end abruptly and unhappily. The unresolved... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Kuno asks Vashti for a visit, she instantly refuses and backs up with the reason that she dislike[s] airships (Forster, 2) and the horrible brown earth, and the sea and the stars when it is dark (Forster, 2), from which she get[s] no ideas (Forster, 2). By considering whether an activity allows them to get ideas, it depicts how characters over rationalise their behaviours that should have been done out of mere intuition. This foregrounds the theme of ideas being mechanical just like a machine. Whereas first hand ideas and experiences are conventionally thought to provide the most intellectual and reliable knowledge, the characters in the dystopian story value second hand ones more, such as listening to lecture about the sea or reading the Book. That is why Vashti pulls the window blinds in the airship to avoid seeing the scenery outside. As for Kuno, he tells Vashti that he believes otherwise and passionately responds that he has a strong interest in looking at the constellation. The fact that Kuno explores the surface of the earth is an excellent example of showing his engagement in collecting first hand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Symbolism In Roman Fever Roman Fever, by Edith Wharton, follows two old friends, Alida Slade and Grace Ansley, accidentally meeting in Rome after many years apart. The two have a long history together and spent their whole lies in contest and conflict. Mrs. Slade is a loud and jealous woman, who always held a deep rooted resentment for Mrs. Ansley. Mrs. Ansley is the more reserved of the two and self controlled. The setting of their conversation holds deep significance. Mrs. Ansley and Mrs. Slade both coincidentally are on vacation in Rome, a place of love and beauty. The two eat dinner together on a terrace overlooking Rome. The romantic scenery reflects the origin of their rivalry. In their youth, both women vied for the attention of a young man, Delphin Slade. Mrs. Slade seems anxious to prove her worth over her longtime friend, however, in reality, Mrs. Ansley is the one who has influence over Mrs. Slade. Wharton uses moonlight and knittingto reveal Mrs. Slade s shallow attempts to project and hold power over Mrs. Ansley, but her ultimate failure since in the end it is Mrs. Slade who falls apart. Moonlight serves as a motif, the darker it inches to night, the darker the nature of the women s conversation, and the more panicked Mrs. Slade is. They sit outside, talking about their daughters in the light of the evening or exchanging in a deep silence. It seemed as though, to both, as there was a relief in laying down their somewhat futile activities in the presence of the vast Memento Mori ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There was only one thing that everyone noticed as we walked through the Black Box Theater: this camp looked like the real deal! The dim lighting and ambient sounds of river flow and crickets through the surround sound speakers gave us the sensation of a peaceful night out under the stars. Statistically, there was only a minuscule chance of unanimously voting out the werewolf tent. However, if you were not afraid to ask questions, analyze the characteristics of the other groups, and use rhetoric to persuade others to follow in your footsteps, then you were the best suited to complete the task. Every new day was a day that changed the world or, in this case, the camp and it relied on the cooperation and deductive reasoning of each of the tents to decide on which tent smelled of a little more werewolf than the others. Camp Feenicks, therefore, suggested that you must seek knowledge before making decisions because every move you make will have a significant impact on the future. He had a guide just as Scrooge did to help see how their sins could end them in Hell. Each story shows how Scrooge and Dante had strayed away from the simple, beaten path to Heaven. They both take the indirect path by being shown the sins not to inherit. As Dante journeyed through Hell, he stopped in each level and acknowledged each of the sinners stories. He learns that certain sins determined their level of hell and punishment. Dante learns not to acquire these sins. Whereas in A Christmas Carol, Dickens solely focuses on just Scrooge s sins, but he is shown by the ghosts how he became the man he was. Lastly, Scrooge s friend, Jacob Marley had sent to him the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future to help guide him through his expedition of his own life. World War I was well known for the extensive system of trenches from which men of both sides fought, the lethal new technologies unleashed such as poison gas, and for the battles under the sea and in the skies. At first, the two sides consisted of the Allies: France, Britain, and Russia, against the Central Powers: Germany, Austria Hungary, and Turkey. As the war carried on however, the tides turned towards the Central Powers. Needing help, the Allies turned towards America for assistance. The United Stateshowever, were very reluctant at first, sticking to their public policies. Trading with both sides of the belligerents, the United States did not want to halt their booming economy, and the large number of protests by immigrant citizens made joining the war even less desirable. It was only after Britain s decision to blockade Germany, Germany s announcement to resume unrestricted submarine warfare, and the British discovery of the Zimmerman Telegram that the United States finally decided to join the war. Catholicism allows some leeway for developing dogma (John Henry Newman ) as well as for the importance of tradition and, in contrast to the fundamentalists, it does not consider the Bible to be the only authority. Introduction Over the years, it has become a known fact that health and nutrition are intricately linked. Not only do food nutrients supply the necessary biomolecules for various metabolic activities, but, in some cases, food nutrients are able to trigger certain desirable physiological responses in the body. Food proteins and hydrolysates thereof are amongst the most well studied bioactive molecules (Danquah and Agyei, 2012). Bioactive peptides have been defined as protein hydrolysates which, upon entry and absorption into the body, have the ability to induce certain desirable and physiologically measurable hormone like activities(Korhonen and Pihlanto, 2006). Some biological functions induced by these peptides include immunomodulatory, cytomodulatory, opiate, antihypertensive, antimicrobial, antithrombotic and metal chelation activities (Möller et al. , 2008). The Formation of Prebiotic Compounds on Early Earth and in the Solar System By Trevor Harrison GE 70A: Evolution of Cosmos and Life Scientists have long sought to understand the origin of prebiotic compounds and its transition into self replicating biological structures, both as an explanation for life s emergence on earth and as an assessment of the abundance of life in the solar system and the galaxy. In 1952, Stanley L. Miller and Harold C. Urey performed experiments demonstrating that the basic foundation of life could be formed when abiotic molecules that existed on early Earth were jolted with appropriate amounts of energy. However, current models of the composition of early Earth s atmosphere show that it would be difficult for amino acids to have formed unless they did so in the deep ocean. Martins et al. (2006) explores whether these compounds could have been formed by the impact shock of one celestial body slamming into another. Succeeding research has investigated whether amino acids formed in space can survive the journey to Earth and discovered, in space, some of the prebiotic compounds posited in Martins et al. Researchers theorized that prebiotic compounds could have built up over time in the Early Earth s oceans and then been jolted together with bicarbonate by the impact of the falling meteor. The study was successful in producing amino acids under these conditions. No matter their source of origin on early Earth, amino acids alone cannot form a self ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The highest incidences of self mutilation have been reported in prisoners, institutionalized teenagers with antisocial traits, and among those diagnosed with autism, schizophrenia, intellectual disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries [1]. Major self mutilation is a rare, severe manifestation of deliberate self harm that results in perpetual loss of function or capacity of an organ and constitutes a medical/surgical and psychiatric emergency[2]. Notably the act of major self mutilation usually is associated with delusions or hallucinations [3].Auto emasculation, a subtype of major self mutilation, typically manifests in the context of schizophrenia[4] , and presents a significant management challenge for both medical /surgical and psychiatric providers, in part because of the lack of clinical guidelines for pharmacological management. Here, we describe a patient with schizoaffective disorder who presented with status post auto emasculation in context of severe psychosis. While penile reattachment was unsuccessful, the patient s psychotic symptoms responded well to clozapine, a third line antipsychotic medication that has been demonstrated to be effective for treatment of aggressive behaviors [5]. The opening and closing of these valves produce the heart beat sounds. When the heart beats, the valves close to keep the blood form flowing backwards. The heart beats more than one hundred thousand times per day. The valves must be able to flex, stretch and hold back pressure hundreds of million times in an average lifetime. The mitral and aortic valves are on the left side of the heart. These are most commonly affected by aging because the pressure is higher on this side. The right heart valves can be damaged by infection or lung disease. Regardless of the valve damage, as they harden or weaken they do not open properly and therefore blood flow may be blocked. Heart valve conditions may also be congenital. Diseases such as rheumatic fever or bacterial infections may also scar or destroy the valves. Heart valve diseases fall into two categories, stenosis and incompetence. The stenotic heart valve prevents full opening of the valve because of the stiffened valve tissue, therefore the heart works harder to push blood throughout the valve. The incompetent valve cause insufficient blood circulation by permitting backflow of blood on the heart. There are two main types of prosthetic valve designs: mechanical and bioprosthetic (tissue). Mechanical heart valves were first implanted in 1952. Since then, over 30 different mechanical designs have originated. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another type of normalization is BCNF. 1NF ensures that there are no multi valued attributes in any table. 2NF is used to eliminate any partial dependencies and ensure that all non key columns depend on the entire primary key. Hence to bring the table to 3NF I made a separate department table and added a junction table to link product and department. (3) The employee table had a start and end date. This did not cater to the face that multiple employs could have the same start and end date and also an employee could resign and join again. Also, the salary could change depending on his tenure. To address this and get the table to 1NF, I made a separate entity for employee tenure making employee id as the foreign key linking the employee table. Hence I separated the state and tax columns in a separate column and linked it to the orders table. (5) The order table initially was designed to include billing. Morality In Elie s A Confederacy Of Dunces Whereas Ignatius rather nonsensical pessimistic worldview comes from his sense of being morally greater than his society (and, therefore, from looking at it in disgust), and from a position of general opulence, Elie s stems from a macabre realization that all people, including himself, are bestial and selfish, and from a position of total destitution. Ignatius believed himself to be a beacon of moralityin an otherwise dismal society. For instance, throughout A Confederacy of Dunces, he would write about the evils of the hedonistic, bourgeois society in which he lived, and about how the world would be in a much better position if based on the medieval principles (such as divine right and cruel forms of torture) in which he subscribed were put in place. This point can be highlighted through Elie s diminishing concern for his father. Though he often tried to keep himself and his father alive at the start of their time in the internment camps, Wiesel slowly lost this concern (in fact, he started to hate his father for being a burden) with time and with the realization of his need to act on instinct in order to survive. This culminated in the end of the book when Elie totally ignored his father s pleas for food, and he, instead, wished his father would be taken to be killed sooner. Scientists such as Sir Isaac Newton and Thomas Hobbes made revolutionary advances in science, politics, and literature. In addition to the emphasis on logic and intelligence, the 18th century brought forth an age of self discovery; further explained in Alexander Pope s The Essay on Man. His proposal suggests that the poor sell their children for the rich to eat. Even though Swift s idea is preposterous, it is a logical (even if immoral) concept. Besides the irony of the title, satire is present throughout the text. For instance, Swift writes that it will prevent those voluntary abortions, and that horrid practice of women murdering their bastard children, alas! (p.568). It s non experimental because human characteristics cannot be experimentally manipulated (Polit Beck, 2012, p. 223). The objectives for the study were found on pages 182 183 (Sabri et al., 2014). The first objective s testable hypothesis would be that white workers who are well educated with no prior history of intimate partner abuse will be more likely to report workplace violence. The second objective s hypothesis would be that black workers will have more workplace violence experiences and use informal resource utilizations as opposed to formal resources. Variables: (Identify the independent and dependent variables for each objective. What confounding variable(s) was(were) controlled by statistical methods in Tables 2, 3, and 4? 10%) The independent variables for objective one were individual attributes, such ... • 51. Futility In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet William Shakespeare romantic tragedy Romeo Juliet, a play written during the period of 1594 1595, contains many themes enabling it to be relevant to audiences today. This is because human nature has remained constant since that period. This play is an Elizabethan misfortune set in the 13th century England, which conveys the story of two young star crossed lovers who cannot be together as their families are embroiled in a feud. In Romeo Juliet, Shakespeare uses this futility to symbolize the themes of the play such as the individual against the society and also the meaning of gender during these times and how it affected the play as a whole. These themes in Romeo Juliet make the audience aware that the play does not have a use by date. The individual versus society alludes to the tension or drama which ensues when an individual does not like to live inside the confinements of their culture and society. Much of Romeo Juliet includes these lovers struggles against open and social establishments that either unequivocally or verifiably restrict the presence of their affection. In spite of the fact that they don t generally work in concert, each of these societal institutions somehow displays obstructions for Romeo and Juliet. The hostility between their families, coupled with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elizabethan ladies were seen as sub par compared to men. • 52. Monty Python And The Holy Grail Satire In Monty Python and the Holy Grail satire is used quite often to make fun of the Catholic faith. One of the most noteworthy moments is near the beginning of the movie when the monks are walking through the town chanting. Monty Python may use rather ludicrous humor to get their point across; however, they do a good job conveying the faults in the Catholic Churchand display them on film. The movie does this through setting, characters costumes, and music. Near the beginning of the movie there is a group of monks seen walking through an impoverished town. Unlike what one would expect from people of God, the monks do not stop to help anyone or even look at them. When there are people lying on the ground half dead, most people would think that the monks would be there to heal and give food to the poor and dying; however, they are seen passing by with their neat robes on. This represents the complete lack of caring that the upper class religious leaders show for the common person. In the middle ages, the church had complete power over the peasants. They had the peasants farm land for them and even pay taxes. The church influenced peasants to pay tithes, otherwise known as taxes, by threatening them. The church convinced the peasants that if they did not pay taxes then their souls would go to Hell in the afterlife. The poor had to pay ten percent of their earnings to the vastly rich church every year. All of the peasants are too scared to stand against the church ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Character Analysis Of The Outsiders If you were in the book the outsiders, you would be a part of one group, either the greasers or the socs . The socs came from a rich background and the greasers came from a poor one. In the book The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton, Johnny and Ponyboy run away after Johnny kills a soc. Then tension rises between the two gangs, and the church that Johnny and Ponyboy were staying at sets fire! Johnny and Ponyboy save the kids from the fire and become heroes. The greasers win the rumble and Johnny dies from his injuries in the fire. Finally Ponyboy writes The Outsiders as an English paper. The Outsiders is about how Ponyboy grows up with a rivalry between gangs in the mid 1960s in Tulsa, Oklahoma. One person who stands out in this story is Johnny, a round and dynamic character whose father abused him and his mother ignores him. Johnny wouldn t know what love and affection is, if it wasn t for the gang. Johnny can be described as shy, caring and mature. Johnny can be described as shy for many reasons. One example is when Dally is asking if anybody wants to go to the movies with him tomorrow night. This is right after Ponyboy got jumped. Ponyboy said that he and Johnny will go. Ponyboy thought, I knew Johnny wouldn t open his mouth unless he had to. (Hinton 14) This shows that Johnny agrees with Ponyboy or if he doesn t, he didn t speak for himself. Another example is when Ponyboy and Johnny are at the movies with Dally. Johnny looks around for Dally, then manages a shy hi ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Ayn Rand s We the Living Essay Ayn Rand and We the Living We the Living is not a story about Soviet Russia in 1925. It is a story about Dictatorship, any dictatorship, anywhere, at any time, whether it be Soviet Russia, Nazi Germany, or which this novel might do its share in helping to prevent a socialist America. These words, written by Ayn Rand herself for the foreword to the 1959 printing of her 1936 novel We the Living, convey not only Rand s direction to the reader to keep in mind the universality of the book s theme, but also her opinion of communism in 1925 Russia and her suspicion that the United States might be headed down the same erroneous path. During her lifetime, Rand would write prolifically both fiction and non fiction, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the seventeen years following her marriage, Rand worked at several jobs, sold her first screenplay (which was never produced), and witnessed the Broadway production of her play Night of January 16th. Rand s first novel, We the Living, was published in 1936, three years after its completion. Two years later, the British publishing house Cassell produced the first printing of Anthem. In 1940 Rand worked on the presidential election campaign of Wendell Wilkie, a self described defender of free enterprise. Rand believed strongly in the individualism that she thought Wilkie represented and she felt that the trend toward collectivism under Roosevelt should be opposed. However, during the election she grew to believe that Wilkie had betrayed his own values, and consequently hers, in his pursuit of victory. She left that experience disillusioned and distrustful of those who called themselves conservatives and supporters of capitalism (Gladstein 11). Rand s The Fountainhead was released in 1943 and received some critical acclaim. Although it was not initially a best seller, its popularity grew steadily and later in the year Rand sold the film rights to it for $50,000. Rand was hired to write the screen adaptation. The movie was released in 1949 with Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal in the leading ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
