Importance Of Organic Growth
A business can develop by organic growth or inorganic growth a. Organic Growth: Organic growth in
business refers to a company expanding its business through the use of its own resources and assets.
Growing organically means a company expands without the use of mergers and acquisitions or other
takeovers. An emphasis on organic growth is valued by many executives and investors since it shows
a long term, solid commitment to building the business. Organic growth can also be negative, meaning
the company s business is actually contracting. Investors look at organic growth numbers to see if a
company is increasing sales and revenues and if those increases are sustainable over the long term.
Significance Organic growth shows how well management of a company is utilizing internal resources
to increase sales and output. Mergers, acquisitions, and takeovers can provide an artificial boost to a
company s sales and revenue figures; this can cloud the picture of how the company is managing its
resources. By focusing on the organic growth of the company, executives and investors can see
exactly how the company is meeting its goals through its own internal means. Workforce Issues Many
executives prefer to grow their companies organically due to the complexity and organizational issues
that result from mergers and acquisitions. One major issue is the effect of merging two company s
workforces, which can often result in culture clashes and morale issues. Employees can resist changes

1918 Spanish Flu Research Paper
1918 Spanish Flu
It was the year 1918, Many people were fighting viciously in the World War fighting for what each
side had believed was true and fair. Both the allied and the axis powers were butting heads across
Europe, Asia and Africa. As the war was coming to an end a massive 16 million lives were taken from
the war torn events that had taken place. While the war effort was in full force both domestically and
internationally, A secret war was brewing under the surface becoming the underlying theme for what
would be the most cataclysmic atrocity that had ever existed, only coming second to the bubonic
plague. This would be the name of the biggest viral pandemic to had spread since that time, and its

This made the treatment and finding a vaccination difficult as it was not being classified in the

1880 American Living Conditions
The Living Conditions in an American City in 1880 No country can be well governed unless its
citizens as a body keep religiously before their minds that they are the guardians of the law, and that
the law officers are only the machinery for its execution, nothing more (Twain, 1873). The
Reconstruction was officially over with the Compromise of 1877 which finally withdrew the last
military troops in the South. United States as a nation experienced a variety of significant and drastic
changing beginning in that period. Former slaves gained their freedom and this fact permitted them

Crime and disorder became the norm in the cities at the time. Illegal gains became a queer ladder of
social mobility according to sociologist Daniel Bell (p. 420). Prostitution was another plague that
affected society at the time. Women sometimes with very little options and in a very competitive labor
market fell prey to prostitution as the only viable way to make a living. The local taverns became a
place for many to escape the stress of a very fast pace life style and the often cruel conditions of
society. An ineffective government opened the way for political machines to take control of local
governments and start creating the tools and means to address those social necessities. These political
groups were organizations that provided social services and jobs in exchange for

Taking a Look at Chymotrypsin
Enzymes are large biological molecules responsible for the thousands of chemical interconversions
that sustain life. They are highly selective catalysts, greatly accelerating both the rate and specificity
of metabolic reactions, from the digestion of food to the synthesis of DNA. Most enzymes are
proteins, although some catalytic RNA molecules have been identified. Enzymes adopt a specific three
dimensional structure, and may employ organic (e.g. biotin) and inorganic (e.g. magnesium ion)
cofactors to assist in catalysis.
Chymotrypsin is a digestive enzyme component of pancreatic juice acting in the duodenum where it
performs proteolysis, the breakdown of proteins and polypeptides. Chymotrypsin preferentially
cleaves peptide amide bonds where the carboxyl side of the amide bond (the P1 position) is a
largehydrophobic amino acid (tyrosine, tryptophan, and phenylalanine). These amino acids contain an
aromatic ring in their sidechain that fits into a hydrophobic pocket (the S1 position) of the enzyme. It
is activated in the presence of trypsin. The hydrophobic and shape complementarity between the
peptide substrate P1 sidechain and the enzyme S1 binding cavity accounts for the substrate specificity
of this enzyme. Chymotrypsin also hydrolyzes other amide bonds in peptides at slower rates,
particularly those containing leucine and methionine at the P1 position.

Significant Changes In The Forager Society
When humans transitioned from foragers to farmers, there were a few noticeable changes.
Materialistic values emerged. People became kinder and less kind simultaneously as sharing and
violence became less commonplace. More structure started to evolve in the society as it was necessary
to establish leaders. Energy consumption increased and was spent on work instead of travelling to
areas of abundance. Although some of these differences may not seem drastic, there was and is a
considerable difference between the ways the lifestyles are lead. In the forager society, travel was
necessary to survive. Although this did not allow people to possess many physical belongings, it also
provided basic essentials without a large amount of work. Hunters would kill deer, feed their
community, and shortly move on to the next place with a high deer population. The women would
gather berries and again share. There were limited ways to store food, so abundances were spread
amongst the community to avoid waste. Labor and skills were divided equally because there were few
people in each travelling group. Overall, foragers shared, had ... Show more content on

The inequality that farming brought led to extremes in human welfare. However, farming also brought
structure and a willingness to compromise in order to avoid conflict that wasn t present in foraging
societies. When this transition was made, it was undoubtedly difficult for society to adjust. People
were not accustomed to living in close proximity for long periods of time and as a result, early
farming societies were often brutal in their lifestyles, with hard work and fear being the center place.
Compared to the foraging life of little work and being able to leave when disagreements arose, this
was a difficult situation. But as time passed, people became more aware of how to coexist more

Historical Background Of Australia s Industrial Relations
Trade unions have been prominent in Australia since the early nineteenth century, established to
improve and maintain the working conditions of workers through strategic industrial action including
strikes, collective bargaining with employers, and advertising campaigns. Typically, Australia s
industrial relations have been shaped by highly centralized Commonwealth and state tribunal systems
of conciliation and arbitration. However, the last three decades have seen considerable changes in the
legislative, economic, and social realms that have traditionally governed the industrial relations of
Australia, and the relevance of unions is under questioning. This paper examines the relevance of
unions by first examining the historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This commitment lasted over a decade and fostered negotiation among employees, employers, and
governments outside of the formal industrial relations progressions (Chapman Gruen 1990; Morris
Wilson 1995). The Workplace Relations Act of 1996 gave the Australian Workplace Agreements
(AWAs) accessibility to ratify non union collective agreements under enterprise bargaining at the
workplace level, effectively decentralizing the union movement and reducing union control over
employee working conditions (ABS Cat No 4102.0). The Act saw the prohibition of compulsory
unionization and strengthened control that the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) had
over illegal industrial action, allowing the AIRC to stipulate how much and for how long industrial
dispute was lawful (Van Gramberg 2001). This period also endured a major privatization of the public
sector occurred which promoted policies to foster a growth of precarious employment (Van Gramberg
2001). Changes to legislation crafted under The Workplace Relations Amendment Act (Work Choices)
in 2005 encouraged employers and employees to resolve disputes at the workplace by removing unfair
dismissal provisions, ascertaining a federal minimum wage rate and award minimum

Literary Synthesis Essay
My choice for consideration of this essay are Edgar Allen Poe s The Purloined Letter and, Katherine
Mansfield s The Garden Party . In reading these works I enjoyed the beauty with witch the words
flowed, because if often seemed like the writer was using poetry to present their story. The similes and
metaphors brought the text to life, and I was able to picture myself alongside one of the characters.
Even the use of onomatopoeias made my sense of sound participate in the reading. The diction with
which the author chose to have his/her characters speak help me to establish a time period and setting
in my mind. All of this helped to create a complete picture of what the writers were trying to convey
within their works; however, it was the word choices that made me feel as though literature is not

According to dictionary.com, ascendancy means govern or to be the controlling influence; dominance.
The word interposed means to put a barriers or obstacle between or in the way of something or
someone. Although the use of these types of words were in use during this time period, they are
outdated and not in use now. Having to look up the words made the reading less enjoyable.
Additionally, in contemporary writing the use of a question mark is expected. In this sentence, Poe
elected not to use this punctuation. Today s reader has come to expect a question make at the end of a
written question. Lastly, the word knowledge is used twice in one sentence. This repetition made the

The big concern to Lockheed Martin is, when the purchase orders begin to decline, which will affect
the operators confidence in F 35 JSF. Then the Pentagon will modernize its fleet of fighter aircrafts in

Music has been around for centuries, the development and origin of certain genres are still being a
challenge. During the time of segregation and integration times were tough It took both races a while
to adjust to the abundant change of equality for all. One of the tools that helped ease this transition
was music. Music had the strong ability to touch all types of people, of all ages of all skin tones.

Case Study Of Bhopal Gas Tragedy
HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL PROJECT December 2nd of 1984 marked the eve of one of the world s
most extensive and deadliest industrial disasters, known now, thirty years later, as The Bhopal Gas
Tragedy or The Bhopal Disaster , among others. Essentially: between twenty seven and forty tons of
methyl isocyanate gas and other assorted chemicals leaked from a tank at a plant owned by Union
Carbide India Limited (UCIL), the Indian subsidiary of the American company Union Carbide
Corporation (UCC), itself a subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company (Eckerman). This catastrophic
failure followed the introduction of water into an MIC storage tank, which caused an explosive chain

The plant s placement (near a densely populated area) was noted as hazardous years before the
tragedy, but UCC insisted on the location. The planning board s motivation for their insistence was
primarily that it was cheaper to build using a pre existing plant in the non ideal location as a basis
rather than building an entirely new plant in the more thinly populated area the Bhopal government
had designated for hazardous industry (Eckerman). Had the plant been built in a more sparsely
populated area, casualties and damage from the gas leak might have been drastically reduced. The
tragedy might have been completely averted had UCC opted to use the more expensive production
process (obviating the need for MIC) instead of the cheaper, more dangerous process (as discussed
above). More economies were taken with the safety and security systems (Eckerman), which, properly
installed and maintained, might have kept the tragedy from happening or lessened its effects; although
the company maintained at first that the Bhopal plant was equipped as well as were its plants in other
countries, UCC later admitted that the safety equipment in the plant was subpar

The One Ring In Tolkein s The Lord Of The Rings
The One Ring is perceived as the machine that has the ability to tempt any individual into using it due

claim to the Ring, it is the men of Númenor, and not Halflings. It is not yours save by unhappy chance.
It might have been mine. It should be mine. Give it to me! (Tolkein). Tolkein conveys the concept and

trust us to keep any secret of yours closer than you keep it yourself. But you cannot trust us to let you

more dangerous and ironically, Merry, Pippin, and Sam grew greater desire to accompany Frodo. At
Elrond s Council, this gives Gandalf the impression that the hobbits should be members of the
Company: I think, Elrond, that in this matter it would be well to trust rather to their friendship than to
great wisdom. Even if you chose for us an elf lord, such as Glorfindel, he could not storm the Dark

Public Private Partnerships in India
PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP IN INDIA
Public Private Partnership or PPP is a subject being given the increasing attention that it has been
receiving in context of the sweeping changes in India s economic policies. We are all aware, along
with the dismantling of the license permit raj a greater role is envisaged for the private sector in these
new policies. Now it seems that, the private sector is not only to be facilitated in its growth, but there
it can be taken on board as a partner by the government in the provision of public services. This of
course, is the purpose of PPP. For those of us who have had a long innings in Government, such
thinking represents a paradigm shift from the way things were always done. I am aware of the fact ...

The key words seem to be rewards and risks.
Having said this, I may state that this scenario gives rise to a host of issues to the mind of a practical
administrator. Some of them would be on these lines:
• Firstly, when should a public project opt for PPP? Does the project lend itself to the model, or
indeed justify sharing of the rewards with the private sector. The U.K. was one of the first countries to
go into partnership with the private sector for providing public services. They have been fairly
successful in this respect. One of their PPP models is called the Public Finance Initiative (PFI),
wherein the government contracts to purchase services on a long term basis from a private provider,
who may build, maintain and operate infrastructure. The costs may be met from user charges, along
with state subsidies, which are a form of viability gap funding . However while implementing the PFI
program, the U.K. government had issued guidelines on the types of projects that needed to be taken
up under it. These guidelines stated that PFI is appropriate where there are major and complex capital
projects with significant and ongoing maintenance requirements. Here the private sector can offer
project management skills, more innovative design and risk management expertise that can bring
substantial benefits. In other words it is clear that PPP can be

More Time Needs To Be Added Between Classes Have you ever had to get to class on the other side

Many students don t use the restroom and get drinks because they know they will be late, they also

going to the restroom and stopping at their lockers, they are late because in those short three minutes,

In the spring of 1940 Europe was enveloped in war. The German military machine had already
conquered Poland, Denmark, and Norway. However, not content with northern and eastern expansion,
Adolf Hitler wanted to control the western countries in Europe. Hitler had long been obsessed with
attacking and controlling France. After their defeat in World War I, the German people, government,

The French knew what kind of war they expected to fight. They also expected, and wanted to fight the
Nazis in Belgium, not on French soil.3
This defensive strategy resulted in military commanders convincing politicians to construct
fortifications across France s borders. These 140 kilometers of fortifications built from 1930 1937
were known as the Maginot Line. While not a fully connected wall of fortifications, they varied in

France s border with Switzerland and Germany. The Luxembourg and a very small portion of the
Belgium border had smaller, less concentrated defense array. The Maginot Line structures were never
intended to be similar to the Great Wall of China. The true purpose was to provide a formidable
defense and free up manpower to be used in offensive operations somewhere else. Charles de Gaulle,
a decorated and proven French military commander was against a defensive mentality. He proposed
potential war strategies against the Germans, and why the defensive mentality should be abandoned.
In a 1935 Parliament, the French War Minister struck blows against de Gaulle s ideas by saying How

fortified barrier? Would we be mad enough to advance beyond

Compare And Contrast Art And Renaissance Art
When one ponders the significance of the artwork that was produced during the Renaissance, Baroque
and
Rococo stylistic periods, advancement in scientific understanding during these periods may seem to be
nothing more than an afterthought. For centuries, the quest for scientific knowledge and understanding
by the artisan community had been smothered by the Christian church who fulfilled the role of main
patron of art during the Middle Ages. However, the
15th to 18th century experienced a turning point, not just creatively, but also in relation to artisans
inculcating an every increasing scientific knowledge base into their creative works (The Art Institute
of Chicago, 2003). The Renaissance in particular, which by definition means rebirth, set in motion a ...

The intent of this short essay is to illustrate how one work of art from each of the following stylistic
periods demonstrated the deepening relationship between art and scientific knowledge:
Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo. During the Renaissance, one of the most influential artists,
Leonardo Da Vinci, embodied the spirit of the
Renaissance due to his multifaceted expertise in numerous fields outside of art. Leonardo Da Vinci
had a passion for scientific exploration, specifically relating to the anatomy and physiology (A P) of
the human body (The Art Institute of
Chicago, 2003). Da Vinci was passionate about learning as much as he possibly could about A P so
that he can accurately and precisely portray the human body in his artwork (The Art Institute of
Chicago, 2003). Numerous sketches have been found in the pages of Leonardo s journals with vividly
detailed sketches of the skeletal system, muscular system, and organ systems of the human body. One
work in particular entitled sketch of Uterus and Foetus brilliantly illustrates how Leonardo melded
science and art. On first glance, the eye is immediately drawn to the detailed

Introduction
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) morbidity and mortality has reached epidemic proportions.
Consequently, the importance of prevention of the disease, in addition to the treatment of the clinical
outcome of the existing disease, has emerged as a priority in the field. These efforts have turned to
what is in fact the underlying cause of myocardial infarctions and the resulting heart disease,
specifically, atherosclerotic vascular disease.
This vascular condition affects the entire vascular tree and is also the cause of cerebrovascular and
peripheral vascular disease (PAD), as well as the reason for major clinical complications such as
restenosis and vein graft arterialisation. The development of atherosclerotic vascular disease involves
a complex interplay of genetic, metabolic, cellular, and immunological factors, and understanding
these factors is the first step in targeting heart disease.
Aetiology of the disease
aetiology: describe the specific disorder and the biological basis of its cause of origin
CVD are diseases of the cardiac muscle or vasculature. The cause of most CVD is a build up of

Myofascial Pain Syndrome Research Paper
Myofascial pain syndrome, otherwise known as MPS, is a chronic pain disorder. The word myofascial
broken apart means muscle, and muscle tissue, and fascia which is the membrane supporting muscles.
In the condition of MPS, pressure on sensitive points in the muscles, also known as trigger points,
cause pain in the muscle. Sometimes the trigger points also send pain to other parts of your body that
seem unrelated to the tense muscle, known as referred pain. Myofascial pain syndrome typically
occurs after a muscle has been contracted repetitively. Although everyone experiences muscle tension
and pain, the discomfort associated with MPS will persist and worsen over time. Trigger points are
hypersensitive areas on the body that are typically located in the hip, neck, shoulder, and other places
where nerves connect muscle fibers. Over stimulation or irritation of these areas sometimes has a
specific effect in another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the main complication is sleep issues. The signs and symptoms of the syndrome make it
difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position, and if someone moves a lot throughout the night they
could hit a trigger point and awaken in pain. Another main complication known is Fibromyalgia.
Research suggests that MPS could develop into fibromyalgia, which is a chronic condition that
features widespread pain. It is believed that myofascial pain syndrome could play a role in starting this
process. The main symptom of myofascial pain syndrome is a deep, aching pain in a muscle. This pain
persists and worsens over time making life more and more difficult. A tender knot in a muscle can also
be felt, which is known as the trigger point. Difficulty sleeping is also a common symptom. Someone
can experience difficulty falling asleep and sleep disturbances. The pain areas affected most often are
muscles, back, mouth and face, or neck. Also common are tenderness, fatigue, muscle spasms, or

ACL Surgery Case Study
When someone tears their ACL, their first thought goes to getting ACL surgery, or ACLR. However,
there are non surgical treatments for special populations. Those populations are young children and
older individuals. Additionally, there are alternatives to ACLR. Children with tears in their ACL can
be treated nonsurgically. Children can heal easily due to vascularization, or the formation of blood
vessels, which plays a role in the healing process of the body. An explanation for the discrepancy may
be that minor lateral meniscus tears heal in children, which several authors have suggested is possible
because of significant vascularization, (Moksnes 2013). In a study of 41 children, 28 children
underwent conservative non surgical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since patients typically obtain ACLR to return to their pre injury status and contain their normal
activities, there is no point in a vast majority of elderly ACL tear victims receiving it. On top of that,
the small group of elderly who are active and desire return to activities have to pass a certain criteria
for ACLR: ACL reconstruction in active patients older than 60 years with ACL deficiency but without
knee arthritis, (Toanen 2017), meaning that these active patients cannot have knee arthritis in order for
them to undergo ACLR. To put this into perspective, of persons ages 65 or older, 49.6% [have] ever
reported doctor diagnosed arthritis, (Arthritis Related Statistics 2017). This means that about half of
the population over 65 years of age can not get ACLR. Speaking of arthritis, ACLR can cause
osteoarthritis in individuals over 60 years. In a study review, twenty seven of the included studies
specifically evaluated the presence of tibiofemoral OA in patients treated with ACL R, whereas 2
studies assessed OA in only ACL D patients who received conservative treatment, (Toanen 2017).
This is because the ACLR procedure requires manipulating the femur and the tibia to give the ACL a
stake like plantation so the ACL can be attached. Two contiguous 5 mm tunnels inside the anatomic
ACL femoral and tibial attachment areas along their long axes, and they are expanded with a 5 × 10
mm dilator into parallelepiped ones, (Shino 2012). Drilling into bone

My morning interview with a resource room teacher provided me with a wealth of vital information
that will assist me in my future career. As I sat at length and spoke with Mrs. Provost, asking her
questions that revealed the inner workings of her job and the various facets that accompany it, the
same thought kept entering my mind someday this going to be me , and I could not be happier. While
Mrs. Provost willingly and patiently answered each question I realized the obligation of educating in
the department of special education is challenging at times. The commitment is tremendous, but when

¨ What terrified me will terrify others, and I need only describe the specter which had haunted my

a gloomy rainy day When a bunch of Romance writers was stuck in a room. When a man who went by
the name Lord Byron, had suggested that the writers write a ghost story. That is when the teenage girl,
Mary Shelley wrote the novel, Frankenstein. Which was Published on January 1, 1818.
Throughout the novel, Victor is having to endure so much pain in his life. Which all could have been
mostly avoided in the first place if after he was done creating him; helped the monster awaken in the
new world by his side to teach him the ways of the world. I took refuge in the courtyard belonging to

In another instance, a second time that he could have resolved the issue which death would strike was
when the monster had asked for a companion. The monster had made a promise he would move far
away with his wife and they would never come to face man again. Victor had said he would. But as he

How Headphones And The Acoustic Transducer Became The Most...
Summary
In the 21st century, sound transducers became the most important building block in all electronic
devices. This element is employed into many products such as microphones, cellphones, radios,
probes, etc. Headphones, for instance, are based on the loudspeaker system which works thanks to the
acoustic transducer. They may look mundane in our daily life, but each element inside the headphones
denotes significant innovations in human history. How do headphones work and what are the secrets
that lie inside?
The objective of this essay is to describe and clarify the main technology that headphones employ.
Therefore, it will be explored different elements that make headphones so much used today such as
history, function principles, manufacturing and future development.
The history behind the headphones
The statement of the first headphones inventor can be a fine debatable topic, which is not the goal of
this essay. Thus, the historical background will be reviewed only to obtain the engineering
improvement for the acoustic transducer, while the statement for the creator of first true headphones
will be left at the reader s belief. Some people may associate headphones origin to the engineering of
the first Walkman in 1979, while others instead, declare that Beyerdynamic should be taking the
credit. Most of archives and encyclopaedias, such as Wikipedia, say that the first working headphones
were created and sold to the US Navy by Nathaniel Baldwin, in 1910. (Figure 1

Jean Kilbourne Two Ways A Woman Can Get Hurt Analysis
For many years now, the primary medium for advertisements has been television. A majority of
society has access to a TV, and because of this reality, producers promote their products via this media
outlet. However, are these companies just trying to sell their products? or they also advocate their
personal agendas upon the masses. Throughout history, the various media channels have influenced
society to believe or accept twisted fallacies. For instance, we assume that crime and violence are
running rampant because the News primarily covers violent and criminal activities. However, the
reality is crime and violence has been on a steep decline since the 1990 s. Still, the optimal way these
shows receive good ratings and views is through headlining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

the author, Jean Kilbourne, EdD, states that, Sex in advertising is pornographic because it
dehumanizes and objectifies people, especially women, and because it fetisheizes products, imbues
them with an erotic charge... (491). Kilbourne also believes the sexualization of ads promotes violence
against women; she presents the example of an Italian Vogue ad, which displayed a man pointing a
gun at a naked woman wrapped in plastic, and a purse covering her face (497). I believe if Kilbourne
were to view and respond to the Victoria s Secret, she might say the commercial, demoralizes and
objectifies women, focus heavily on sexual intimacy rather than emotional, and promotes a sense
violence against women. Additionally, in the essay, From Multicultural Barbie and the Merchandising
of Difference, the author, Ann DuCille, a former chair and director of the center for African American
Studies at Wesleyan University, discussed that the multicultural Barbie, though created to encourage
diversity and racial awareness of other cultures and ethnicities, it promotes racism by excluding true
cultural and ethnic characteristics from each multicultural Barbie (859). She further explains that doll
advocates an ideal body image of, mythically thin, long legged, luxuriously haired, buxom beauty...
which in turn might result in younger girls trying to mimic the Barbie lifestyle or image rather than,
being at peace with their own self. Not to mention the fact the multicultural Barbies are simply white
dolls with different shades of color, and exclude cultural character traits (861). I believe if DuCille
saw the Victoria s Secret ad, she would feel the ad excludes a good representation of all ethnicities,
because throughout the entire advertisement there was only one African American model, but she was
only shown for a mere two seconds. And DuCille might feel the perfect , tall, petite, and caucasian
females encourage a practicable standard for

Anne Frank Book Analysis
Anne Frank, The Diary of a young girl, this book is about the ups and the downs of hiding in a secret
annex. The book has quite a bit that people today can relate to, even though they are not in hiding.
One of the main things in this book had difficult times. Each character had his or her own struggles.
Anne and her mom do not get along and she does not get along with Dussel (her roommate) Anne s
father, Otto Frank, is relaxed when things are calm but stressed when the place becomes tense. Mr.
and Mrs. Van Daan are the people who have to have things their way, but when something goes wrong
they panic. Living in secret seems very limited and stressful. They have different rules for each day
and night, and when there are people are downstairs working because the workers do not know about
the secret annex. Being locked up each person has different household jobs for each day and each
family gets a limited number of food rations or food coupons. Some of the rules included; they get up
at a quarter to seven and clean everything they slept on because the beds took up all of their days to
day living space (Wednesday, 4 August, 1943), at half past twelve each person goes off to do his or her
own thing because of the warehouse workers have left (Thursday, 5 August, 1943). Nowadays, people
go insane because they are used to being able to communicate in many ways. Although the older
would be fine because they grew up without the many ways of communicating that we as the younger

Since the late 1960 s, Jack White s mixed media abstract work, defined as abstract impressionism , has
been inspired by African art forms and symbolism. The works included in the Ancestral Image
exhibition are outside the boundaries of traditional painting or sculpture. They contain elements of the
spiritual, the artistic, and the utilitarian that define African art. Reflecting on his work, White states,
Like most human beings I am curious about my ancestors; as a black American, I can know only that
they came from Africa. Art gives me the power to explore the lives of those ancestors and expose
audiences, minority and mainstream, to my discoveries.
While serving in the Air Force, White was both stimulated and inspired by the cultures he was
exposed to during his world travels. White s global experience manifests in much of his art, with
paintings, that are a mixture of various media that construct abstracted visual landscapes.
White began his more than forty year career in art as an art and education major at Morgan State
University in Baltimore and later continued with graduate studies in Museum Arts at Syracuse

New England and Southern Colonies Essay example
Both the New England colonies and the Southern colonies seemed as though they might be the same.
They both started out with the majority of people being from England, they were both in the New
World, and they were both ruled by England but, as time went on this theory was proven wrong. The
New England colonies and the Southern colonies had many common characteristics but these two
regions were very different geographically, politically, and socially. Geographically the New England
colonies were the states of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire; the
Southern colonies were Virginia, Maryland, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. These two
regions were on opposite sides of America so naturally, they had ... Show more content on

In New England, however, because of the lack of need for labor there were very few black slaves and
everyone was relatively equal. A large difference between New England and the Southern colonies is
that when people moved to the New England regions many of them came in communities and
families. In the South because of the many individuals, there was a shortage of women and therefore
population did not grow as quickly. This expansion of cities in the New England colonies led to the
founding of primary and secondary schools for education. Harvard College in Massachusetts was
founded eighty six years before the first college in Virginia. In the South, the few and spread out cities
led to a slow development of schools and many children had tutors instead of attending school. These
two very different social structures developed the character of the regions. As these colonies began to
grow there became a need for a government and the two regions approached this in different ways.
The Southern colonies prohibited taxes unless they were enforced by the grand assembly while New
Englanders kept the right to tax locally whenever the need came. Also, the New England colonies
placed much of their emphasis on town meetings. These meeting were attended by white males and
they demonstrated the democracy that is seen in today s United States. In the Southern colonies the
people were less enthusiastic about democracy and many of them were ruled by colonial

Alex Rider Book
The book Snakehead by Anthony horowitz is the seventh book in the Alex Rider books . I have to say
that every single one of the Alex Rider books give me a mind blowing snensation. I then go on to
idolize Alex Rider because he everything a teenage boy would want to have acheived. Since Alex is
fourteen years of age, the most youthful spy agent to have served Britain, the United States and
Australia, the book lands into the teenage genre which is why many young adult boys will love to read
about a 14 year old boy conquering bad guys and therefore benefiting the world. Which is a boyhood
dream. So far Snakehead has exceded my excpectations, as well as underachieved in some areas, so i
still have mixed emotions about the book. Which will probably change as i eventually read on. The
Alex Rider book has been an underachiever because it has been unrealistic. Even though its a 14 year
old boy as a spy, there should be some mild form of reality which will balance the book in between the
real and fantasy world. The over achieveing part was how he has managed to connect the previous
book to the current one im reading now, checking every box and explaining it wih beautiful and
precise writing, the prologue had no flaws and it was just like watching another episode of a seires. All
of the Alex Rider books have not been relatable to my personal life because i have not experienced
any losses or any form of experience with action packed dramas. However as ahuman beign you still

Home To Harlem Analysis
In his analysis of Claude McKay s Home to Harlem, Shane Vogel refers to the text as a piece of
literature which is invested in affective mimesis. Essentially, the text is interested in the reproduction
of feelings and senses. The success of the text is based on the audience s ability to feel what McKay
wants them to feel. Of course, this method has its limits. How will a non black audience capable of
absorbing the material presented exactly as McKay means for it to be interpreted? The answer to that
question, of course, is that this text was not produced for consumption by white audiences. This has
been established by McKay s response to W.E.B. Du Bois s criticisms of Home to Harlem, where it is
staunchly established that McKay s portrayal of African American individuals is for African
Americans themselves the text portrays a series of experiences which can only be understood by an in
group, and that is that. Thus, McKay s affective mimesis, or the elliptical sensorium of pleasure he
produces, aims not to depict Harlem as a spectacle, but as a place in which his audience already knows
and already exists in. Ultimately, the story of Home to Harlem exemplifies a never ending series of
knowing and unknowing one s surroundings and one s home. This is reinforced by the novel s looping
plot structure. McKay s formulation of the text does not give us an interpretation of diaspora, then it
aims to reproduce the feeling of diaspora in our hearts. First, let us consider how the structure of the
novel s plot reinforces the dual complexity of identity and remembrance. Home to Harlem is a text
defined by its astounding structural redundancy. Regardless of one s place in the novel, it can be
assumed that similar events are going to unfold there will be a mention of clubs or alcohol, dancing
will be involved, and Jake will surely sigh about how he has lost his sweet brown. In instances where
Jake and his companions aren t in Harlem, Jake laments for a return to what he considers home. Thus,
aside from certain moments, such as when Jake finally finds Felice, the formulaic structure of Home
to Harlem seems doomed to repeat itself for eternity. It is during this aforementioned reunion when the
audience begins to

  • 2. Importance Of Organic Growth A business can develop by organic growth or inorganic growth a. Organic Growth: Organic growth in business refers to a company expanding its business through the use of its own resources and assets. Growing organically means a company expands without the use of mergers and acquisitions or other takeovers. An emphasis on organic growth is valued by many executives and investors since it shows a long term, solid commitment to building the business. Organic growth can also be negative, meaning the company s business is actually contracting. Investors look at organic growth numbers to see if a company is increasing sales and revenues and if those increases are sustainable over the long term. Significance Organic growth shows how well management of a company is utilizing internal resources to increase sales and output. Mergers, acquisitions, and takeovers can provide an artificial boost to a company s sales and revenue figures; this can cloud the picture of how the company is managing its resources. By focusing on the organic growth of the company, executives and investors can see exactly how the company is meeting its goals through its own internal means. Workforce Issues Many executives prefer to grow their companies organically due to the complexity and organizational issues that result from mergers and acquisitions. One major issue is the effect of merging two company s workforces, which can often result in culture clashes and morale issues. Employees can resist changes in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Reconstruction was officially over with the Compromise of 1877 which finally withdrew the last military troops in the South. United States as a nation experienced a variety of significant and drastic changing beginning in that period. Former slaves gained their freedom and this fact permitted them mobility. Crime and disorder became the norm in the cities at the time. Illegal gains became a queer ladder of social mobility according to sociologist Daniel Bell (p. 420). Prostitution was another plague that affected society at the time. Women sometimes with very little options and in a very competitive labor market fell prey to prostitution as the only viable way to make a living. The local taverns became a place for many to escape the stress of a very fast pace life style and the often cruel conditions of society. An ineffective government opened the way for political machines to take control of local governments and start creating the tools and means to address those social necessities. • 6. Taking a Look at Chymotrypsin Enzymes are large biological molecules responsible for the thousands of chemical interconversions that sustain life. They are highly selective catalysts, greatly accelerating both the rate and specificity of metabolic reactions, from the digestion of food to the synthesis of DNA. Most enzymes are proteins, although some catalytic RNA molecules have been identified. Enzymes adopt a specific three dimensional structure, and may employ organic (e.g. biotin) and inorganic (e.g. magnesium ion) cofactors to assist in catalysis. Chymotrypsin is a digestive enzyme component of pancreatic juice acting in the duodenum where it performs proteolysis, the breakdown of proteins and polypeptides. Chymotrypsin preferentially cleaves peptide amide bonds where the carboxyl side of the amide bond (the P1 position) is a largehydrophobic amino acid (tyrosine, tryptophan, and phenylalanine). These amino acids contain an aromatic ring in their sidechain that fits into a hydrophobic pocket (the S1 position) of the enzyme. It is activated in the presence of trypsin. The hydrophobic and shape complementarity between the peptide substrate P1 sidechain and the enzyme S1 binding cavity accounts for the substrate specificity of this enzyme. Chymotrypsin also hydrolyzes other amide bonds in peptides at slower rates, particularly those containing leucine and methionine at the P1 position. Activating chymotrypsinogen into chymotrypsin Chymotrypsin is synthesized in the pancreas by protein biosynthesis as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to properly analyze this data set I needed to use a pivot table. After setting up the pivot table as follows: dates as rows, dentist as columns, and having the claim date in the value section. By setting my pivot table up in this fashion I was able to see how many claims were made by the dentist each day. Afterwards, I hid the dentist that had fewer than 10 claims. • 8. Significant Changes In The Forager Society When humans transitioned from foragers to farmers, there were a few noticeable changes. Materialistic values emerged. People became kinder and less kind simultaneously as sharing and violence became less commonplace. More structure started to evolve in the society as it was necessary to establish leaders. Energy consumption increased and was spent on work instead of travelling to areas of abundance. Although some of these differences may not seem drastic, there was and is a considerable difference between the ways the lifestyles are lead. In the forager society, travel was necessary to survive. Although this did not allow people to possess many physical belongings, it also provided basic essentials without a large amount of work. Hunters would kill deer, feed their community, and shortly move on to the next place with a high deer population. The women would gather berries and again share. There were limited ways to store food, so abundances were spread amongst the community to avoid waste. Labor and skills were divided equally because there were few people in each travelling group. Overall, foragers shared, had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The inequality that farming brought led to extremes in human welfare. However, farming also brought structure and a willingness to compromise in order to avoid conflict that wasn t present in foraging societies. When this transition was made, it was undoubtedly difficult for society to adjust. People were not accustomed to living in close proximity for long periods of time and as a result, early farming societies were often brutal in their lifestyles, with hard work and fear being the center place. Compared to the foraging life of little work and being able to leave when disagreements arose, this was a difficult situation. But as time passed, people became more aware of how to coexist more ... • 9. Historical Background Of Australia s Industrial Relations Trade unions have been prominent in Australia since the early nineteenth century, established to improve and maintain the working conditions of workers through strategic industrial action including strikes, collective bargaining with employers, and advertising campaigns. Typically, Australia s industrial relations have been shaped by highly centralized Commonwealth and state tribunal systems of conciliation and arbitration. However, the last three decades have seen considerable changes in the legislative, economic, and social realms that have traditionally governed the industrial relations of Australia, and the relevance of unions is under questioning. This paper examines the relevance of unions by first examining the historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This commitment lasted over a decade and fostered negotiation among employees, employers, and governments outside of the formal industrial relations progressions (Chapman Gruen 1990; Morris Wilson 1995). The Workplace Relations Act of 1996 gave the Australian Workplace Agreements (AWAs) accessibility to ratify non union collective agreements under enterprise bargaining at the workplace level, effectively decentralizing the union movement and reducing union control over employee working conditions (ABS Cat No 4102.0). The Act saw the prohibition of compulsory unionization and strengthened control that the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) had over illegal industrial action, allowing the AIRC to stipulate how much and for how long industrial dispute was lawful (Van Gramberg 2001). This period also endured a major privatization of the public sector occurred which promoted policies to foster a growth of precarious employment (Van Gramberg 2001). • 11. Literary Synthesis Essay My choice for consideration of this essay are Edgar Allen Poe s The Purloined Letter and, Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party . In reading these works I enjoyed the beauty with witch the words flowed, because if often seemed like the writer was using poetry to present their story. The similes and metaphors brought the text to life, and I was able to picture myself alongside one of the characters. Even the use of onomatopoeias made my sense of sound participate in the reading. The diction with which the author chose to have his/her characters speak help me to establish a time period and setting in my mind. All of this helped to create a complete picture of what the writers were trying to convey within their works; however, it was the word choices that made me feel as though literature is not relevant to contemporary society. ... The word interposed means to put a barriers or obstacle between or in the way of something or someone. Although the use of these types of words were in use during this time period, they are outdated and not in use now. Having to look up the words made the reading less enjoyable. Additionally, in contemporary writing the use of a question mark is expected. In this sentence, Poe elected not to use this punctuation. Case Study Of Bhopal Gas Tragedy HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL PROJECT December 2nd of 1984 marked the eve of one of the world s most extensive and deadliest industrial disasters, known now, thirty years later, as The Bhopal Gas Tragedy or The Bhopal Disaster , among others. Essentially: between twenty seven and forty tons of methyl isocyanate gas and other assorted chemicals leaked from a tank at a plant owned by Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL), the Indian subsidiary of the American company Union Carbide Corporation (UCC), itself a subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company (Eckerman). The plant s placement (near a densely populated area) was noted as hazardous years before the tragedy, but UCC insisted on the location. The planning board s motivation for their insistence was primarily that it was cheaper to build using a pre existing plant in the non ideal location as a basis rather than building an entirely new plant in the more thinly populated area the Bhopal government had designated for hazardous industry (Eckerman). Had the plant been built in a more sparsely populated area, casualties and damage from the gas leak might have been drastically reduced. The tragedy might have been completely averted had UCC opted to use the more expensive production process (obviating the need for MIC) instead of the cheaper, more dangerous process (as discussed above). More economies were taken with the safety and security systems (Eckerman), which, properly installed and maintained, might have kept the tragedy from happening or lessened its effects; although the company maintained at first that the Bhopal plant was equipped as well as were its plants in other countries, UCC later admitted that the safety equipment in the plant was subpar ... The U.K. was one of the first countries to go into partnership with the private sector for providing public services. They have been fairly successful in this respect. One of their PPP models is called the Public Finance Initiative (PFI), wherein the government contracts to purchase services on a long term basis from a private provider, who may build, maintain and operate infrastructure. The costs may be met from user charges, along with state subsidies, which are a form of viability gap funding . However while implementing the PFI program, the U.K. government had issued guidelines on the types of projects that needed to be taken up under it. These guidelines stated that PFI is appropriate where there are major and complex capital projects with significant and ongoing maintenance requirements. The French knew what kind of war they expected to fight. The strongest, most heavily fortified area of the Maginot line stretched from France s border with Switzerland and Germany. The Luxembourg and a very small portion of the Belgium border had smaller, less concentrated defense array. The Maginot Line structures were never intended to be similar to the Great Wall of China. The true purpose was to provide a formidable defense and free up manpower to be used in offensive operations somewhere else. This element is employed into many products such as microphones, cellphones, radios, probes, etc. Headphones, for instance, are based on the loudspeaker system which works thanks to the acoustic transducer. They may look mundane in our daily life, but each element inside the headphones denotes significant innovations in human history. How do headphones work and what are the secrets that lie inside? The objective of this essay is to describe and clarify the main technology that headphones employ. Therefore, it will be explored different elements that make headphones so much used today such as history, function principles, manufacturing and future development. The history behind the headphones The statement of the first headphones inventor can be a fine debatable topic, which is not the goal of this essay. Thus, the historical background will be reviewed only to obtain the engineering improvement for the acoustic transducer, while the statement for the creator of first true headphones will be left at the reader s belief. Some people may associate headphones origin to the engineering of the first Walkman in 1979, while others instead, declare that Beyerdynamic should be taking the credit. Since Alex is fourteen years of age, the most youthful spy agent to have served Britain, the United States and Australia, the book lands into the teenage genre which is why many young adult boys will love to read about a 14 year old boy conquering bad guys and therefore benefiting the world. Which is a boyhood dream. So far Snakehead has exceded my excpectations, as well as underachieved in some areas, so i still have mixed emotions about the book. Which will probably change as i eventually read on. The Alex Rider book has been an underachiever because it has been unrealistic. Even though its a 14 year old boy as a spy, there should be some mild form of reality which will balance the book in between the real and fantasy world. The over achieveing part was how he has managed to connect the previous book to the current one im reading now, checking every box and explaining it wih beautiful and precise writing, the prologue had no flaws and it was just like watching another episode of a seires. All of the Alex Rider books have not been relatable to my personal life because i have not experienced any losses or any form of experience with action packed dramas. However as ahuman beign you still are living many different lives. As myself i live several lives, as a brother, a son, a student and a lot more. Personally this is the only ... • 34. Home To Harlem Analysis In his analysis of Claude McKay s Home to Harlem, Shane Vogel refers to the text as a piece of literature which is invested in affective mimesis. Essentially, the text is interested in the reproduction of feelings and senses. The success of the text is based on the audience s ability to feel what McKay wants them to feel. Of course, this method has its limits. How will a non black audience capable of absorbing the material presented exactly as McKay means for it to be interpreted? The answer to that question, of course, is that this text was not produced for consumption by white audiences. This has been established by McKay s response to W.E.B. Du Bois s criticisms of Home to Harlem, where it is staunchly established that McKay s portrayal of African American individuals is for African Americans themselves the text portrays a series of experiences which can only be understood by an in group, and that is that. Thus, McKay s affective mimesis, or the elliptical sensorium of pleasure he produces, aims not to depict Harlem as a spectacle, but as a place in which his audience already knows and already exists in. Ultimately, the story of Home to Harlem exemplifies a never ending series of knowing and unknowing one s surroundings and one s home. This is reinforced by the novel s looping plot structure. McKay s formulation of the text does not give us an interpretation of diaspora, then it aims to reproduce the feeling of diaspora in our hearts. First, let us consider how the structure of the novel s plot reinforces the dual complexity of identity and remembrance. Home to Harlem is a text defined by its astounding structural redundancy. Regardless of one s place in the novel, it can be assumed that similar events are going to unfold there will be a mention of clubs or alcohol, dancing will be involved, and Jake will surely sigh about how he has lost his sweet brown. In instances where Jake and his companions aren t in Harlem, Jake laments for a return to what he considers home. Thus, aside from certain moments, such as when Jake finally finds Felice, the formulaic structure of Home to Harlem seems doomed to repeat itself for eternity. It is during this aforementioned reunion when the audience begins to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
