THE EFFECTS OF INDUSTRIAL CAPITALISM
Adam Smith argued that Individuals who were allowed to pursue rationally their own economic self
interest would benefit society as well as themselves (Sherman Salisbury, 2008, p.187). This argument
helped industrial capitalism grow in the 19th and 20th centuries. Industrial capitalism affected the
bourgeoisie and the working class. Although the bourgeoisie gained money and power, the working
class suffered through poor working conditions.
The bourgeoisie, also known as the middle class, gained money and power as the industrial capitalism
got stronger. They consisted of merchants, tradesmen, and professionals. In the middle class, the men
worked outside the home to support their families, while the women stayed at home to take ... Show

In addition, the children obtained a mere fraction of that pay. Therefore, factories employed women
and children more often than men. The owners even created contracts with orphanages to hire cheap
child laborers to save money (Sherman Salisbury, 2008, p. 277).
In the 19th century, industrial capitalism began to gain more power in the form of monopolies.
Rockefeller s Standard Oil Trust was one of these monopolies. His company destroyed smaller and
weaker oil companies to become a larger corporation.
On May 15, 1911, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the Standard Oil Cartel was a
menace to the Republic and ordered it to be broken up:
For the safety of the Republic we (U.S. Supreme Court) now decree that the dangerous conspiracy
must be ended by Nov. 15, 1911 (John D. A Portrait in Oils, p. 154).
Rockefeller vowed revenge against the U.S. and used his vast fortune to BUY the U.S. government.
The breakup of the Standard Oil monolith resulted in about 37 new companies. Rockefeller still
secretly controlled them all by owning a voting majority of stock in the new corporation. Thus
Standard Oil would be known as Standard Oil New Jersey (Exxon), Standard Oil New York (Mobil),
Standard Oil Indiana (Amoco), Standard Oil California (Chevron), Atlantic Refining (Arco) etc., etc.
Labor unions started to form in the late 18th century; though it was during the 20th century that they
began to grow. Unions fought for improved

Commercial Banks Finance The Industrial Sector
There is acute shortage of capital and led People lack initiative and enterprise. Means of transport are
undeveloped and Industry is also depressed. Keeping this in view, commercial banks play a major role
by lending hand in overcoming these obstacles and promoting economic development
Promoting Banks Capital Formation: Engaged in raising financial resources and encourage savings by
offering various types of incentives and benefits to the investors. They expand branches of the banks
in urban and rural areas and mobilize savings even at far of places.
Investment in New Initiatives: Entrepreneurs generally vacillate to invest in risky areas. Therefore,
banks provide short term and long term loans to entrepreneurs and investors ... Show more content on

This has led to increased demand for industrial goods and expansion of industry. The commercial
banks help the large agricultural sector in developing countries in a number of ways. They provide
loans to traders in agricultural commodities. They open a network of branches in rural areas to provide
agricultural credit. They provide finance directly to agriculturists for the marketing of their produce,
for the modernisation and mechanisation of their farms, for providing irrigation facilities, for
developing land, etc.
They also provide financial assistance for animal husbandry, dairy farming, sheep breeding, poultry
farming, pisci culture and horticulture. The small and marginal farmers and landless agricultural
workers, artisans and petty shopkeepers in rural areas are provided financial assistance through the
regional rural banks in India. These regional rural banks operate under a commercial bank. Thus the
commercial banks meet the credit requirements of all types of rural people.
Balanced Development of Different Regions: Commercial banks involve in providing support to the
developing regions of a country by obtaining sufficient deposits or funds from the developed regions
within the same country. This leads to the industrialists and small business men in the developing
regions in accessing the funds which will cater their business need to achieve desired goals.
Influencing Economic Activity: Two major activities availability of Credit and the

Essay about The Dredd Scott Case
The Dredd Scott Case
The Dredd Scott case involved a landmark decision in the history of the Supreme Court, in the history
of the United States the decision in this case was one of the most damaging statements in the history
of the Supreme Court, involving the citizenship of a black person in the United States, and the
constitutionality of the Missouri Compromise in 1820. The history of a black man named Dredd Scott
states that he was a slave originally owed by a family by the name of Blow, which ended up selling
him in 1833 to an army surgeon by the name of Dr. John Emerson of St. Luis. Due to his involvement
as an army surgeon, Emerson was transferred to numerous places such as Rock Island, Illinois, Fort
Snelling in the Wisconsin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Roger Taney, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and how we look at it. The court had announced its
decision on March 6, 1857. By a 7 2 vote, the court ruled against Scott. Of the seven opinions written
by the members of the majority, Chief Justice Taney s is considered to present the forma; view of the
Court, and I think that these are the most damaging statements in the case. Taney first dealt with the
issues of whether Dredd Scott or any slave or descendant of slaves could be a slave s could be a
citizen under the US constitution. It was Taney s opinion as the ! majority of the court that: they
(slaves) are not, and that they are not included, and were not intended to be included, under the word
citizen in the US constitution, and can, therefore, claim none of the rights and privileges which that
instrument provides for and secures to citizens of the United
States.
Taney drew this conclusion from an examination of historical practices and the intent of the Framers
of the Constitution. Slaves, he said, had more than a century before the Constitution came into
existence been regarded as being of an inferior order, and all together unfit to associate with the white
race, in social or political relations; and so far inferior that they had no

The Effects Of The Opioid Pain Inhibition Disorder
The opioid pain inhibition pathway is heavily influenced by estrogen (Dawson Basoa Gintzler, 1993;
Gordon Soliman, 1996; Smith et al., 2006). For example, pregnancy analgesia is caused by high
estrogen and progesterone concentrations but is mediated by the spinal κ and δ opioid receptors via
activation of both the dynorphin and met enkephalin pathways (Dawson Basoa Gintzler, 1993). In the
brain hippocampal dynorphin is elevated in the presence of estrogen (Torres Reveron et al., 2009), and
may play a role in inhibiting the formation of long term potentiation via KOR activation (Terman,
Drake, Simmons, Milner, Chavkin, 2000). Estradiol alters dynorphin/KOR tone in some areas of the
brain (Mostari et al., 2013) and KOR activation by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vasopressin in turn modulates the release of leu enkephalin, met enkephalin, and β endorphin (Yang,
Chen, Liu, Song, Lin, 2006; Yang, Yang, et al., 2006).
ERα has been shown to be expressed in dynorphin neurons in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord and
directly modulates dynorphin release, which in turn regulates DORs (Gintzler Liu, 2012). Dynorphin
release is often associated with nociception and has been linked to opioid induced hyperalgesia
(Vanderah, Ossipov, Lai, Malan, Porreca, 2001). Interestingly, dynorphin and KOR activation is also
linked to significant analgesia, particularly in women (Gear et al., 1996). Estrogens upregulate KORs
in both intact and ovariectomized female rats in a dose dependent manner (Lawson, Nag, Thompson,
Mokha, 2010). This apparent contradiction can be explained by spinally synthesized estrogen
mediating KOR/MOR heterodimerization in the dorsal horn, which switches dynorphin from being
pronociceptive to antinociceptive (N. J. Liu, Chakrabarti, Schnell, Wessendorf, Gintzler, 2011). In
areas outside of the spinal cord, mechanisms involving ERα modulating dynorphin release vary by
brain location, and also depend on whether or not ERE dependent pathways are activated (Gottsch et
al., 2009).
ERs are co expressed by the majority of enkephalin neurons in the superficial laminae of the dorsal
horn in female rats (Amandusson Blomqvist, 2010). Estradiol

Symbolism Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Symbolism is commonly used in literature to change or deepen meanings or instill a different meaning
to the mind of the readers. The reader is forced to think, make connections, and succeed in adding a
new meaning to the novel. F. Scott Fitzgerald is a master of hiding deeper meanings behind a text as
clearly showcased in the novel The Great Gatsby. The iceberg theory describes that only around 20%
of the story is directly revealed through text. In comparison to an actual iceberg, that is usually the
portion of the floating ice mountain that is visible above water. The other 80% of the story lies behind
the scenes and is integrated in the structure of the story. This is similar to the lower part of iceberg that
is located underwater: the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The unfortunate events that occur in the Valley of Ashes, the affair between Tom and Myrtle which
ultimately led to Myrtle s accidental death, represent the severe consequences brought about by the
failed attempts at achieve the American Dream. Tom wanted everything all at the same time a concept
typically associated with the 1920 s, a time full of loss of inhibitions and little self control. The Valley
of Ashes also symbolizes the condition in which the poorer American society lived during the 1920s.
The description of the Valley of Ashes as a desolate strip of land (Fitzgerald 22), allows the reader to
recognize the negative personality changes, reflective of the 1920s. Fitzgerald was well known for
writing in an almost satirical manner to describe his opinions of the 1920 s.
The tragic and coincidental events that occur in the Valley of Ashes do not go unnoticed however, they
are endlessly patrolled by the eyes of Dr. T. J. Eckleburg. Another clear symbol in the book is the
famous billboard with fading eyes that symbolizes God judging American society as a moral and
social wasteland. A wasteland watched over by the faultless eyes of T. J. Eckleburg, contributing in the
destruction of the American Dream. Fitzgerald includes the Valley Chiarelli 3 of Ashes to represent the
morally deteriorating, materialistic society in which the characters live in. The billboard also
symbolizes an outside viewpoint of the material driven attitude of the 1920s, a

Rhetorical Strategies Of The Digital Age Has Destroyed...
Loss of Rights: Rhetorical Strategies in Groskopf s The digital age has destroyed the concept of
ownership, and companies are taking advantage of it
The digital age is changing our rights on the subject of ownership: less and less people know whether
they can copy, sell or even lend their digital goods. An author named, Christopher Groskopf, wrote
The digital age has destroyed the concept of ownership, and companies are taking advantage of it,
published in 2016 in the Quartz, and he argues that intuition has fallen apart when talking about
ownership of digital goods and that companies use their fine prints to take benefit from this. Groskopf
uses a survey, reputable sources, facts and statistics in order to appeal to similar feelings and
experiences in her adult readers; however, toward the end of the article, he weakens his argument by
contradicting himself.
In his article, Groskopf first sets the stage by letting the reader take a survey to let them see if they
know the type of ownership a reader would have over an example of a digital book. His survey then
outlines the uneven distribution of answers given showing that most of his readers are wrong about
digital ownership rights. Groskopf continues by stating that most of the rights are outlined in the
Terms of Service (TOS) of the selling company, a statistic from a reputable source showing that the
majority of buyer s do not read the TOS and some examples demonstrating how companies can take

Biomechanical Intervention Case Study
1) Many individuals have UE paresis after experiencing a stroke. This is why occupational therapy
service is needed; since they address many of the deficits, including stroke related motor impairment
of the UE. However, despite improved UE functional capacity, UE performance may remain severely
limited after stroke (Doman, Waddell, Bailey, Moore, Lang, 2016). There is a difference between the
function and the performance. For example, many individual after rehab are able to have movement
with their affected UE but, are not able to complete their activities of daily living; like brushing their
teeth and washing their face. So as an OT you must create an intervention that allows the client to
regain both the movements and complete their everyday performance. Like Many OT s I would first
create an intervention to regain movement of the affected UE while utilizing the side without paresis. I
will begin with therapy aimed at strengthening and increasing the range of motion. Once a client
achieves movement required to continue on the different tasks and accomplish their R UE. I would

Feminist Analysis Of Legally Blonde
The 2001 comedy film Legally Blonde tells the story of Elle Woods, an upbeat and optimistic sorority
girl who, over the course of the movie, transitions from a simple college student with few professional
aspirations into a successful law student. Elle initially presents herself as a stereotypical sorority girl:
vain, superficial, and self obsessed. As such, she consistently faces discrimination from her friends,
family, and colleagues alike. The film wants the audience to view Elle as a woman who rises up above
the stereotype through hard work and intelligence, and who proves herself as a capable individual in a
discriminatory society. Because of this, some view Elle as a feminist icon, a person who empowers
women to achieve equality to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than a woman fighting for a lifelong dream, we see an emotional woman going through a
rough break up and dealing with it through drastic measures. This discrepancy completely disparages
the idea of her being a feminist icon. It is true that Elle is no longer motivated by Warner in any way
by the end of the movie, indicating that she may have grown and seen the errors of her ways, but at no
point in the entire film is it directly stated or even implied that Elle has a passion or interest in the
study of law. Even if she truly has readjusted her perspective by the end of the film, it comes too late
to have any sort of impact, as our impressions of Elle have already been made. Her actions don t send
the message of empowerment to achieve one s dreams through hard work and passion, but rather to
achieve happiness through obtaining the approval of a man. Further damaging the view of Elle as a
feminist icon is the fact that she consistently reinforces harmful stereotypes about women. Elle is
clearly meant to be presented as a sorority stereotype, but rather than overcoming and breaking free
from it, she proves it to be true time and time again. Firstly, Elle reinforces the idea that women are
overly emotional and quickly disheartened. In the very first scene of the movie, Elle is dumped by
Warner and proceeds to have an emotional breakdown, crying and shrieking loudly in a public setting.
This is further reinforced later in the

Mark was found outside the only exit Nancy could use, in his pickup truck drunk and asleep. When
the police officer arrived, they had charged mark with an invasion of privacy for violating the terms of
the protective order and public intoxication. Then the state of Indiana charged mark with attempted
murder, a jury trial was held and the jury found Mark guilty. Mark was sentenced to twenty five years
in prison and after completing his time five years of probation. The Indiana court had accepted mark
collier appeal for his attempted murder charge, Mark had said that the evidence was insufficient and
his acts were a preparation for the murder. The acts that mark had done makes the courts believe that
mark was going to go through with the crime. The facts that were presented to the jury would make
them believe that Mark had to take the substantial step for the crime of attempted murder. If Mark was
awake, was going into the hospital, and opened to door, Mark would be guilty of attempted murder.
The Indiana Supreme Court made a decision that mark was not guilty of attempted murder. Mark was

Death with dignity Essay
Dying With Dignity
On Tuesday, March 24, an elderly Oregon woman, acting with the aid of a doctor, dosed herself with
potent chemicals and died. The woman had lived with breast cancer for more than 20 years. By all
accounts her final hours were private and peaceful, as she became one of the first people in American
history to end her life lawfully with the aid of a physician (Oregonian A1).
She was able to end her life peacefully due to controversial legislation passed in her state. The Death
with Dignity Act was passed by the state of Oregon in 1994. It allows physicians to prescribe a lethal
dose of medication so that a terminally ill patient can end his or her life. The requirements set forth by

Jones. In his dissent, he stated, It does not violate the Controlled Substances Act s nonpreemption
provision. It neither exceeds the Attorney General s statutory authority under the Controlled
Substances Act (The Federal Register 12). Therefore, this action would be detrimental to all those who
do not choose to wait for death. In November of 2004 Ashcroft appealed to the Supreme Court and
they will hear the case later this year. It is likely the Supreme Court will interpret the regulations in
accordance with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals but if it fails to do so Oregon will be forced to repeal
the statute.
This law has brought peace to 171 terminally ill and suffering individuals in a very painless and
humane manner. Only 3 of the 43 patients experienced complications in 2003. The only complications
reported in these 3 cases were vomiting. One half of all patients became unconscious within four
minutes of ingesting the lethal medication and all died within 20 minutes. The range of time from
ingestion to death was five minutes to 48 hours (Sixth Annual Report T3.9).
Physician assisted suicide accomplishes much more than ending suffering before death. The right is of
the individual and should be respected by our government. It is a fundamental freedom that we all
should have. It allows a person to die with dignity and prevents the illness from killing them before
they die. The Death with Dignity Act is very similar to other forms of euthanasia

Advantages Of The Montessori Method
Students in traditional schools may not be getting the best education they can receive. Some students
grow up lacking the necessary skills required to perform well in the real world. The Montessori
Method trains students for real life situations. The children are not only taught the standard in
academics. They also develop emotional and social skills required to excel in their future careers. The
Montessori Method also puts other subcategories such as art and geology at the same level as
geometry or math. Standard teaching methods lack this variety of education, ultimately causing
students to feel overwhelmed in social situations and uneducated in certain subjects. Montessori
strategies should be integrated with standard teaching methods ... Show more content on

In a Montessori classroom, the teacher is the guide and the materials are the teacher. Sometimes the
teacher will sit kids down for a small group lesson, but most of the time the students are working
independently or with a partner. Social and behavioral skills are developed sooner in Montessori
students as opposed to traditionally taught students. A study themselves in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
where two groups of 12 year olds and two groups of 5 year olds were given basic assessments that
measured social development. One group in both age bands went to a Montessori school while the
other groups did not. Both Montessori groups scored higher on the social and behavioral development
tests compared to the students who did not attend a Montessori school (Do...). Even though
Montessori students learn at their own pace, they reach beyond the standard in education. Learning is
a discovery for students rather than a chore. Homework does not teach children responsibility, time
management skills, self discipline or more of what they should be learning during the day. What it
teaches is how to put up with a job that they dislike (McCarthy). Responsibility, time management,
and self discipline are not taught in traditional schools. These skills are expected to already be
mastered by the student but there are still students in college procrastinating until the night before a
deadline.
Some people argue that it is the

Stereotypes In The Film Encounters, By Werner Herzog
Werner Herzog, a well known figure in the world of German cinematography, is accredited for his
creative use of local perspective, to show what he coins as ecstatic truth , as well as his focus on
people with unique dreams, careers, and outlooks. In his documentary Encounters, he explored the
population of the people working and living in Antarctica and tried to figure out why said people were
drawn to such a cold and desolate place. The film featured stock footage with no narration and one on
one interviews with repeated questions (Where are you from? Why are you here?). The documentary
itself began with an introduction about how the film wouldn t be about your typical fluffy penguins of
Antarctica, but rather the people there and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the final few scenes of the film, Herzog and his crew were taken underground to explore tunnels
and caves with things that, when considering the location of Antarctica, shouldn t exist there. They
were shown a frozen riverfish, images of the green that once covered Antarctica, and flowers. These
are seen as things of the past and could be used as an example of how we, humans, are progressing
with a constantly ticking clock that will expire sooner or later to be taken over by something of the
future. Another interesting parallel that was drawn was between science and religion, which are two
things often kept separate. One particular example was when Herzog likened the silence of the divers
before they head into the water to the quiet of priests heading to mass. This contrast may have been
Herzog s way of further proving the uniqueness of the population occupying Antarctica or of showing
why the statement by William Sirsa that they re all at loose ends, and now (we re) here is completely

Introduction and History
Laser Doppler flowmetry, or LDF, is a unique way to measure the microcirculatory blood flow
without a painful or invasive procedure. LDF uses the Doppler shift theory as a way to transmit the
information, with the scattering of light coming from the laser by way of the red blood cells. [A, B, C]
Micro vascular applications have greatly benefited from this type of technology. The accuracy and
reproducibility can be shown after years of extensive research. It can continuously monitor the blood
flow and between every two to five seconds give an average output value. [E]
The blood cell velocity in capillaries is too low to use the technique of the Doppler shift using
ultrasound, as the frequencies of the sound that would reverberate back would be too small to identify.
[B] Using the laser, calculations based upon the measurements between the primary light source s
frequencies that were transferred towards the vasculature and the reflective light coming back towards
the source can determine the blood flow s velocity. [B] This non destructive way to assess
microcirculatory function has been around for approximately 40 years now in its realised state. The
proposed device became experimentally plausible in 1972 when Riva used LDF for measuring retina
vessels in rabbits. [D] Around 1980 another

Pros And Cons Of The Moon Landing
Asid from Aliens and Ufos being kept at Area 51, another popular conspiracy theory is the 1969 moon
landing was staged at Area 51. A scenario by a conspiracy writer states that NASA knew that at the
time it would be impossible to send astronauts to the moon because of the risk of lethal radiation. The
moon landing had to be faked to avoid embarrassment and ensure future funding for NASA. On the
day of the rocket launch, they staged an actual rocket launch but no one was inside. The Apollo crew
was transferred to Area 51 where there was a movie stage set up to record the fake landing. Neil
Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin then acted out the lunar landing and NASA transmitted out to the millions
of viewers. Technology was available at the time to create a movie set that looked like the moon and
film quality believable footage. One woman claimed to see a Coca Cola bottle roll across the bottom of
her screen while watching the live broadcast of the moon landing proving that it was filmed at Area

Kennedy s 1961 goal of landing a man on the moon before 1970.Coincidentally they walked on the
moon in 1969 one year before the deadline Kennedy had set. The moon landing would also be a great

entitled Sisterhood is Powerful that emerged as a momentous work of the second wave feminist

urban based women s liberation groups. From her introduction, she states that The book you hold in

Critically Examine the Claim That Free Will and...
Critically examine the claim that free will and determinism are incompatible
One of the main questions that we face is whether or not, we as humans have genuine freedom. Are
we free to make our own choices? Do we decide what happens in our lives in the future? Or are our
lives set pathways in which we have no say at all? Are all our choices already decided? In other
words, do we have free will or are our actions pre determined, or both? Hard determinists, libertarians
and soft determinists all set out to provide answers to these questions, holding different views on
whether or not free will and determinism are compatible. Both hard determinists and libertarians
believe that free will and determinism are incompatible but hard determinists ... Show more content on

Many believe that the world is largely determined but we can still act freely as our behaviour is not
predictable. Thomas Aquinas disagreed with hard determinism as he believed that man chooses freely,
not out of necessity . Although Aquinas and others that criticise hard determinism and disagree with
the hard determinist views, would still agree with hard determinists in that free will and determinism
are incompatible, but would argue that we have free will but our lives are not determined. This view
that free will and determinism are incompatible but it is free will that exists, not determinism, is also
supported by libertarians.
Libertarians believe that we are free and are morally responsible for our actions. They believe that the
inanimate world is mechanical and is therefore caused and predictable but reject the idea that this
extends to humans. Libertarians hold that we are not compelled to act by forces outside our moral
consciousness; moral actions instead come from the character and values of the agent. There are
factors which may influence someone to act in one way but it is not certain that they will. C.A.
Campbell s notion of freedom states that when you are acting freely, the future is genuinely open to
you and you can actually choose one way or another, even with given nature and nurture. Libertarians
do not argue for absolute freedom but significant freedom that it is a

Mathematician Vs Aerospace Engineer
Everybody has to grow up and someday, a future career has to be chosen. This choice is very difficult
and hard for some people. Two great choices would be a mathematician and an aerospace engineer.
Mathematician and aerospace engineering are two interesting and unique job choices, but are highly
different and offer different opportunities. These jobs have different working styles, outlooks,
environments, education needed, and salary. These jobs are also similar in a lot of ways.
First of all, aerospace engineering and mathematicians offer different working styles and job
descriptions. The skills needed for this job are very similar, but at the same time very different.

Job growth is very important when choosing a job. Most of the time, a person would want to pick a
career that is growing fast because there are more opportunities. Job growth is favorable to aerospace
engineers if they know C++ programming(OOH). However, not all aerospace engineers know C++
programming, and in the case, the job can be on the decline. Also according to the Occupational
Outlook Handbook, more and more companies are trying to provide access to space. The more
companies trying to get to space, the more aerospace engineers needed. According to Sokanu,
mathematicians are growing 21.4%, while aerospace engineers are declining 2.3%. Mathematicians
have a much faster growth than most jobs are predicted. Even though the percentage is higher for
mathematicians, there are way more jobs for aerospace engineers. There are only 4,000 projected
mathematicians projected in 2026 compared to the 73,800 aerospace engineers that are projected and
only 900 more jobs are predicted to come(OOH). According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook,
mathematicians are predicted to grow because of the increase in smartphone usage and social media,
which will increase the amount of stored data usage. This being said, aerospace engineers as of now
have the advantage. Even though the job is on the decline, there are still way more jobs available and
there will be for a while. However, way down in the future, there could be a lot more

A Look into the Life of Waleed Bin Talal
A look into the life of Waleed Bin Talal
Background
Many people are already aware of the name AlWaleed Bin Talal, in that, not only has he been an
important name in the world of business, but also in terms of philanthropic works. However, many
people are not aware of the humble beginnings of AlWaleed Bin Talal. One of the aims of our research
is to give a background into the life of AlWaleed Bin Talal and how he possesses a number of traits
that are instrumental to his success and leadership in both a businessman and a philanthropist, and in
life. AlWaleed Bin Talal was born in 1955 and is a member of the Saudi royal family, although many
would normally expect that this was the reason for AlWaleed Bin Talal s wealth, this is not really the
case. This is because, although AlWaleed Bin Talal s father is the brother of the current King
Abdullah, his father who was also the finance minister of Saudi Arabia was forced into exile during
the 1960s to Lebanon, the country of AlWaleed Bin Talal s mother. However, upon the divorce of his
parents, AlWaleed Bin Talal together with his mother returned to Saudi Arabia. It was during his
return to Saudi Arabia that he had been enrolled into a military academy in Riyadh where he had
learnt to follow strict discipline. (Lamare, 2014, n.p.). Prince AlWaleed Bin Talal went to the US in
1975 to earn his bachelor degree in Businesses administration at Menlo College after which in 1979
then went on to continue his master s degree in social

The Appropriate Court For This Lawsuit
The appropriate court for this lawsuit depends upon several factors. Three important considerations
include the following: Personal jurisdiction which allows courts to have jurisdiction over both the
plaintiff and defendant in a case. Specific to corporations, personal jurisdiction only applies in the
state in which the company does business, is incorporated and has it principle office. In Margolin s
suit, personal jurisdiction would not apply because although the company does business in the state of
New York, both Novelty Now and Funny Faces are not incorporated or have principle offices in this
state.
Subject matter jurisdiction allows a court the authority to only hear case that are in regards to a
specific topic. Although restrictive in its ability to hear cases based on the topic, subject matter
jurisdiction can specialize in a specific case type. Courts such as tax, federal claims and bankruptcy
are examples courts which have subject matter jurisdiction.
In reference to the case study, subject matter jurisdiction could possibly apply. Since Margolin suit
claims negligence on the parts of Novelty Now and Funny Faces for using PYR in their product the
case could be heard in a federal claims court. The violation of FDA regulations makes the case a
stronger candidate for this type of venue.
Minimum contact establishes an appropriateness for one state to assert its jurisdiction on a person or
business in another state. When evaluating the facts of the case presented, it

left on their body, which never heal. In today s world, many people are confused about their gender.
This has led numerous people to plastic surgery. A countless number of them feel the only way to truly

The expenses of buying a whole new lifestyle, the emotional drainage they are likely to face, and the
periods of physical pain in hormonal change all are factors they deal with after plastic surgery.

The period after the Civil War was a very difficult time in the United States history. This time was
known as the Reconstruction period and it was a very controversial time. There were many issues that
had to be addressed such as what to do with the free blacks in the south and how states would be
readmitted to the Union. This era saw the rise of the Radical Republicans. The government was going

Johnson s Plan had nothing to say about the rights of blacks after the war. Most Northern Democrats
favored Johnson s Plan. However Southerners were not so impressed. Many of the southern states
accepted Johnson s plan but some of them attacked the black rights issue. Some states would not ratify
the thirteenth amendment. None of the southern states would allow blacks to vote. In late 1865 the
southern states revised their slave codes into what became know as the black codes. This basically
stripped blacks of every right and justice that was due to them. Since Johnson s plan did not address
the rights and liberties of blacks, the southern states took it into their own hands to create their own
laws regarding blacks. When Congress met again they began to fight for the rights of blacks. They
responded to the black codes by passing the Civil Rights Act of 1866. President Johnson vetoed the
bill but Congress overruled his veto with a 2/3 majority vote. Congress view of President Johnson
began to deteriorate.

How Crowdfunding Campaign On Culture And Civic Engagement
Introduction Did you know the pedestal the Statue of Liberty sits on is the result of crowdfunding?
Joseph Pulitzer utilized his paper the New York World to raise $100,000 in five months (Davies,
2014). This application serves as an early example of the power of crowdfunding 100 years before the
advent of the Internet. Businesspeople and citizens rallied to a civic cause so a gift from the French
government could find a home. Pulitzer used a single collection point to raise money from an
enormous pool of donors and pledged amounts from pocket change upwards. Many crowdfunding
experts consider The Statue of Liberty project the most successful crowdfunding campaign. This paper
explores crowdfunding campaigns on culture and civic engagement, how it aligns with a corporation s
mission, vision, and values, and the impact on a business s profile and profit. Efforts Crowdfunding is
a phenomenon that emerged over the last ten years. It started with donations and reward based
crowdfunding and morphed into an option for companies to gain assistance in funding their product or
idea. Studies indicate crowdfunding eliminates the geographic restrictions experienced in venture
capital without giving up control of the business (Agrawal, Catalini, Goldfarb, 2013). As
crowdfunding matures, it can become more than a financing contrivance and develop into a way
individuals can participate in shaping their environment through meaningful projects. The applications

A Comparison Of The 1991 Gulf War
In order to facilitate the discussion of newspapers framing of the recent US military strike in Syria, it

a reference to compare the news frames in both stories. To the contrary of Ivengar s findings,
according to which television news coverage of the Gulf War of 1991 was heavily episodic oriented
(more than 75 percentage), the study in this paper has found that more than half of the examined

Given these circumstances, television news outlets were unable to produce war footage and broadcast
them in their 24 hours news cycles while print journalists have to relied even more on thematic
framing in their coverage.
Thirdly and related to former point, the two US military interventions differ in size, scope, form and
length of time. While the military operation to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi occupation in 1991
consisted of extensive military preparations and the invasion of a foreign country, the missile strike
against a Syrian regime airfield was a an operation of a few hours, using only unmanned cruise missile
against a single target. As a result, there was simply not enough time to assign correspondents to the
ground, who often tend frame events in wars episodically. More generally, perhaps due to the lack of
access to the ground operations, journalists, particularly those working for newspaper, were able to
cover this foreign policy event predominately thematic as opposed to the first Gulf War.
The difference in the media alone cannot account for the large number of thematic oriented articles in
both newspapers about the US missile strike on Syria. Many articles extended their thematic coverage
to topics such as the fight against ISIS, the complexity of shifting alliances within the fractured armed
opposition in Syria and the involvement other states and actors

The article has an implied research question that the authors intended to answer. The question is: what

Claude Monet s The Impressionist Era
Born in Paris in 1840, Claude Monet would later become a leading artist in the Impressionist era. At a
young age, Monet had a passion for nature and art and in 1859, Monet began to study art in Paris.
Here he met many artists such as Bazille, Sisley, and Renoir. Monet practiced painting en plein air or
moving from inside the studios to painting outside in the open. Embodying the Impressionist era in
1873, Monet painted Impression, Sunrise , showing many characteristics that define Impressionism
and Monet s painting style (Figure 1). The painting shows lax, bold, and precise brush strokes moving
away from the previously blended and even style of earlier eras. Monet uses; cool purples, blues,

Geothermal Energy is the Solution to the Energy Crisis Essay
Geothermal Energy: A Solution to the Energy Crisis
Abstract
So far, scientists have not found a successful substitute for fossil fuels that can handle both the large
demand for energy and solve the global warming problem. I propose that geothermal energy is a clean,
widely available, and renewable alternative to the usage of fossil fuels. In this paper, I will explain
how use of geothermal resources can be energy efficient, environmentally clean, and cost effective. I
believe that the US government should increase funding for geothermal energy research. This may be
the solution to our present energy crisis and global warming.

Fossil fuels (oil, coal, natural gas) take up about 80 % of total energy consumed. Fossil fuels cause
pollution and global warming yet we continue to use them. Our demand for fossil fuels has become so
great that according to current projections, Earth s reserves will be depleted within the next 200 years.
But we do not actually have 200 years to wait. Our run away consumption of fossil fuel not only
endangers our ability to meet our future energy needs but also the environment. Fossil fuels cause
significant pollution and global warming. This in turn compromises wildlife habitats and can even
lead to extinction of animal and plant species. By looking at new sources such as geothermal energy,
we can move towards a source that is not extremely harmful and yet still effective.
Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is heat energy that is stored underneath Earth s surface. It is mainly found at
volcanoes, hot springs, or geysers. Heat stored in the hot water and steam found at these locations is
captured and can be used to heat buildings or generate electricity. This energy source is renewable
because heat from the earth is continuously produced. To obtain energy, you must either use hot water
or steam from the source. The most common way of capturing the energy from geothermal sources is
to tap into naturally occurring hydrothermal convection systems where cooler water seeps into Earth s
crust, is heated up, and then rises to the

Lets see what Kaye Goodwin from Virgin Atlantic has to say!
In a day of a representative at Virgin Atlantic I have to look at how these needs are identified and I
must cover: Customer requests in writing
Customer requests to representatives of organisations verbally (face to face or telephone)
Recognition of unstated needs
Customer type one: Families
If a family was too put in a request in writing, because they may have young children, they could
possibly write their requests to me in an email because of convenience and time.
For example: a mother and father of two young children will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Here at Virgin Atlantic, we identify and meet customer needs through customer survey questionnaires/
comment cards and customer forums/focus groups.
When the survey questionnaires or comment cards have been read by a member for our staff, usually
the customer service manager, they then analyse all of the comments to find areas of improvement in
order to meet customer needs.
For example, if a number of customers have complained about staff not knowing obvious information
i.e. directions around the airport, prices of products or check in times, that would tell us that our staff
are unequipped to help our customers.
From this, we will then need to realise and work our a way to get more information into our staff in
order to meet the needs of our customers more efficiently.
This can be done in many ways, however the most ideal one for this situation would be to hold regular
morning/afternoon meetings to keep staff updated with information.
When we exceed customer expectations, we like to go that extra mile by giving out customers more in
depth information. An example of this would be when a customer asks simply the time of their flight,
we like to make sure that our staff will fully inform our customers of their flight time, boarding time,
gate number and if there will be any delays.
At the Martime Museum (NMM) they meet and exceed

Martin Luther King and Malcolm X: Different Men With the Same Goal
Martin Luther King jr. and Malcolm X are still highly controversial African American leaders. Martin,
a Christian integrationist, and Malcolm, a Muslim nationalist have been a powerful force against racial
injustice. Each man sacrificed his life for the freedom of his people; however, Martin and Malcolm
had taken very different approaches in achieving equality and identity for African Americans in the
land of their birth.
In order to better understand why King and X took the course of action each took, one must take into
account a little bit of their background. Martin Luther King jr., was born in Atlanta, Georgia into a
middle class family. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is impossible to get at the roots of one s religious attitudes without taking in account the
psychological and historical factors that play upon the individual. (Hamilton 19).
In contrast to King s origin in the southern African American middle class, Malcolm X was a product
of the Northern poor African American masses. Born in Omaha Nebraska, Malcolm was the son of a
Baptist preacher. However, Malcolm became a minister of the religion of Islam. Malcolm X joined
Elijah Muhammad and created a movement that focused around the word power, not love and virtue.
Psychologically they argued that violence was a healthy way to release the pain of oppression and that
to love people who hate you is unnatural (Walton 90).
Like Martin, Malcolm spent many years preparing for his vocation as a minister and public speaker,
but unlike Martin, who earned his doctorate, Malcolm s formal education ended in eighth grade.
Malcolm often introduced himself for public debates by starting off with, Gentlemen, I finished the
eighth grade in Mason, Michigan. My high school was the black ghetto of Roxbury, Massachusetts.
My college was in the streets of Harlem, and my master s was taken in prison (X and Haley 282).
Martin Luther King had a dream. A dream of equality of opportunity, of privilege and property widely
distributed; a dream

Social Commentary In 1984
It is often said that literature is a voice for social commentary. How is this true of the novel 1984 ?
Historically, literature has always echoed the key issues and themes present during that time. In the
period which Orwell wrote this novel, totalitarian government was a popular concept seeing
implementation around the world such as Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, and Mussolini s Italy. In the
novel 1984. While Orwell s world is a fictional one, it can be said that he uses it as a voice for social
commentary, and he predictions as to what a world would be like if totalitarian governments would
rule the world. This essay will aim to explore how Orwell goes about doing this.
Orwell draws from features of these totalitarian regimes in order to create the setting in which the
story takes place. In the novel, the narrator describes big brother on the poster as a mustachiod figure .
This figure is a reference to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The words under the picture read BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU in all capitals. This phrase
immediately establishes the power distance relationship between the party and its members. All
citizens are constantly being watched over and are powerless compared to the party. The word
watching implies that all citizens are under scrutiny from big brother himself with the mustachiod
figure playing the role of a big brother , watching over his citizens and controlling their actions and
movements. Such a lack of freedom creates a stark contrast between normal people s lives and the
lives of Orwell s characters, and therefore acts like a warning as to what might happen in the future if
the rise of totalitarianism continued in Europe. Through this, Orwell is also criticizing this movement
by highlighting its key disadvantages and drawbacks.
Furthermore, Orwell uses bizarre and unfamiliar concepts to the reader to comment on totalitarian

Catcher In The Rye Quotes Analysis
Anyway, it was the Saturday of the football game. [...] I remember around three o clock that afternoon
I was standing way the hell up on top of Thomsen Hill. [...] You could see the whole field from there,
and you could see the two teams bashing each other all over the place. [...] You could hear them all
yelling. (Chapter 1 Page 2) This quote is significant to The Catcher in the Rye because it displays the
ongoing theme of isolation throughout the novel. Holden clues the readers immediately by illustrating
that while everyone is off at the football, he prefers to be by himself. Holden often isolates himself
from others because in his mind he believes everyone is fake from just observing them and doesn t
take the chance to connect with them. 2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Holden appears to have a good mental life, but it often weakens him. He does not feel the need to
worry like the phony s because worrying is all consuming. However, worrying about something other
than the present reality for him seems to be involved with the fantasies which lead him to search for
some greater fulfillment in life. All the worrying seems to be a defence against the hardship of reality.
Holden blocks out the reality with his imagination because the life he has created in his head is way
better than reality. 10. Most guys at Pencey just talked about having sexual intercourse with girls all
the time like Ackley, for instance but old Stradlater really did it. I was personally acquainted with at
least two girls he gave the time to. That s the truth. (Chapter 7 Page 48) The significance of this quote
is that Holden expresses the theme of not wanting to grow up. Holden explains that the only think
guys his age want to do is have sex with girls all the time, however, he clearly shows no interest in
having sex but really just wants someone to talk. He mentions that he is a virgin and even thought
many opportunities arise he never takes them. This is significant to the theme of not wanting to grow
up because Holden proves to the readers that he is not ready to become and adult and what comes with
it. Holden is nervous to become that intimate with another person and prefers to just imagine it in his

Critically evaluate the role of the brand in International hospitality management

Speech On Self Discipline
Have you ever wondered how other people seem to achieve more but yet you work just as hard?
Have you ever wondered how others seem to be more successful and you know that you are just as
intelligent, just as capable but yet for some reason you aren t doing as well?
There could be one key ingredient that you are missing to achieving your goals. It is an ingredient that
is often taken for granted and overlooked because it is so simple and that is self discipline .
What is self discipline?
It is the ability to do what you should do when you should do it whether you feel like it or not.
This is a quality you need to posses while on your journey to reaching your destination. Without it,
you will struggle in reaching your goal.
What has been holding you back?
Before you can begin thinking about how to improve your self discipline, you need ask yourself what
has been holding you back. This will give you a better idea of your thought processes, your beliefs,
your behaviours and what action you can take to empower yourself to make positive changes.
So here are some questions I would like you to consider:
1. Why aren t you as successful as you would like to be?
2. What beliefs do you think have been disempowering you? and
3. What behaviours do you think you could improve on?
Here are some other questions to consider?
Do you make excuses or procrastinate?
Are unclear and aren t sure of what you really want?
Do you think you deserve those rewards or are you unconsciously sabotaging your potential to achieve
your goals?
Is there some part of you that believes you aren t capable?
Or maybe all of the above are just excuses. Here is a secret to making that big change in your life...
stop making excuses.
You can either have REASONS or you can have RESULTS! Which one do you chose?
Are you clear on what you want?
Before we start planning on what actions we can take to move in the right direction, we need to be
clear on what that direction is, therefore it is imperative that you understand what success means to
you. Everyone has their own definition of success and it doesn t make you right or wrong. It is what
works for you and is based on your values. Is it about living up to your own expectations not someone
else s?

An Evaluation Of The Alcoholic Beverage And Conversation...
An independent variable, which is what is varied during the experiment, is what will affect the
dependent variable. A change in the independent variable directly causes a change in the dependent
variable, and you can only have one independent variable. The independent variable is the behavior of
one participant that triggers the behavior of another participant. In the first study, the alcoholic
beverage and conversation topic selected by Participant #1 is the independent variable. In the second
study, the behavior of the seller at the store is the independent variable, as is the verbal and nonverbal
communication of some participants in the third study.
A dependent variable is what you measure in the experiment and what is affected during the
experiment. The dependent variable responds to the independent variable. It is called dependent
because it depends on the independent variable. In a scientific experiment, you cannot have a
dependent variable without an independent variable. In the first study, the response of the second
person to order the drink and take part in the ongoing conversation is the dependent variable. In the
second study, the dependent variable is the mannerisms with which the customer responds to the
seller. In the third study, the dependent variables are the response of the people in the in group , and
the response of the people in the out group . You can have more than one dependent variable, but you
can only have one independent variable; in the

Cut the wolves/bear. Amanda has to mentally and physically outwit Alex and Samantha. There should
be a physical battle. The idea of her face being cut is interesting, but it doesn t really make sense that
they wouldn t kill her, given they know her true identity. One really isn t sure of the purpose of cutting
her face. Continue to work on the dialogue. Some of the dialogue sounds on the nose. Meaning, the
dialogue is too straightforward without subtext. In addition the dialogue is repeated several times.
Remember, dialogue should reveal information about the character and it should move the story
forward. Repeating information hinders the pace. For example, Alex says that Amanda won t go to the
police because she s too scared. He repeats this several times. Amanda tends to repeat herself. Tom
repeats about going to the police. There are several formatting issues too. There are some missing
scene headings. Remember, every new location needs a new scene heading. There are typos that can
easily be corrected. On page 29, don t explain Cindy s thoughts or feelings. The audience can only see
what s on the screen and can only hear dialogue. Show vs. tell information. If Amanda leaves the

proportion to changes in an activity driver (Hansen Mowen, 2009, p. 67). Therefore, variable costs are
these which is taken in consideration for decision making. For instance, in health care the cost are
divided in three categories (Health Service Costs, Costs borne by patients and their families and
External costs borne by the rest of the society (Robinson, 1993). Health Service Costs includes costs
that can be divided in fixed costs which remain the same whatever the level of activity (heating,
lighting) and variable costs which differ according the level of activity (staff time). Additionally, an
Environmental Management Accounting framework was applied, at the end of the year 2000, for the

other energy and to fixed costs, such as salaries, maintenance supplies, clothing, operating supplies

The second type of classification is direct costs and indirect costs and it depends on costs traceable.

  • 2. THE EFFECTS OF INDUSTRIAL CAPITALISM Adam Smith argued that Individuals who were allowed to pursue rationally their own economic self interest would benefit society as well as themselves (Sherman Salisbury, 2008, p.187). This argument helped industrial capitalism grow in the 19th and 20th centuries. Industrial capitalism affected the bourgeoisie and the working class. Although the bourgeoisie gained money and power, the working class suffered through poor working conditions. The bourgeoisie, also known as the middle class, gained money and power as the industrial capitalism got stronger. They consisted of merchants, tradesmen, and professionals. In addition, the children obtained a mere fraction of that pay. Therefore, factories employed women and children more often than men. The owners even created contracts with orphanages to hire cheap child laborers to save money (Sherman Salisbury, 2008, p. 277). In the 19th century, industrial capitalism began to gain more power in the form of monopolies. Rockefeller s Standard Oil Trust was one of these monopolies. His company destroyed smaller and weaker oil companies to become a larger corporation. On May 15, 1911, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the Standard Oil Cartel was a menace to the Republic and ordered it to be broken up: For the safety of the Republic we (U.S. Supreme Court) now decree that the dangerous conspiracy must be ended by Nov. 15, 1911 (John D. A Portrait in Oils, p. 154). Rockefeller vowed revenge against the U.S. and used his vast fortune to BUY the U.S. government. The breakup of the Standard Oil monolith resulted in about 37 new companies. Rockefeller still secretly controlled them all by owning a voting majority of stock in the new corporation. Thus Standard Oil would be known as Standard Oil New Jersey (Exxon), Standard Oil New York (Mobil), Standard Oil Indiana (Amoco), Standard Oil California (Chevron), Atlantic Refining (Arco) etc., etc. Labor unions started to form in the late 18th century; though it was during the 20th century that they began to grow. Essay about The Dredd Scott Case The Dredd Scott Case The Dredd Scott case involved a landmark decision in the history of the Supreme Court, in the history of the United States the decision in this case was one of the most damaging statements in the history of the Supreme Court, involving the citizenship of a black person in the United States, and the constitutionality of the Missouri Compromise in 1820. The history of a black man named Dredd Scott states that he was a slave originally owed by a family by the name of Blow, which ended up selling him in 1833 to an army surgeon by the name of Dr. John Emerson of St. Luis. Of the seven opinions written by the members of the majority, Chief Justice Taney s is considered to present the forma; view of the Court, and I think that these are the most damaging statements in the case. Taney first dealt with the issues of whether Dredd Scott or any slave or descendant of slaves could be a slave s could be a citizen under the US constitution. Taney drew this conclusion from an examination of historical practices and the intent of the Framers of the Constitution. • 5. The Effects Of The Opioid Pain Inhibition Disorder The opioid pain inhibition pathway is heavily influenced by estrogen (Dawson Basoa Gintzler, 1993; Gordon Soliman, 1996; Smith et al., 2006). For example, pregnancy analgesia is caused by high estrogen and progesterone concentrations but is mediated by the spinal κ and δ opioid receptors via activation of both the dynorphin and met enkephalin pathways (Dawson Basoa Gintzler, 1993). In the brain hippocampal dynorphin is elevated in the presence of estrogen (Torres Reveron et al., 2009), and may play a role in inhibiting the formation of long term potentiation via KOR activation (Terman, Drake, Simmons, Milner, Chavkin, 2000). Vasopressin in turn modulates the release of leu enkephalin, met enkephalin, and β endorphin (Yang, Chen, Liu, Song, Lin, 2006; Yang, Yang, et al., 2006). ERα has been shown to be expressed in dynorphin neurons in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord and directly modulates dynorphin release, which in turn regulates DORs (Gintzler Liu, 2012). Dynorphin release is often associated with nociception and has been linked to opioid induced hyperalgesia (Vanderah, Ossipov, Lai, Malan, Porreca, 2001). Interestingly, dynorphin and KOR activation is also linked to significant analgesia, particularly in women (Gear et al., 1996). Estrogens upregulate KORs in both intact and ovariectomized female rats in a dose dependent manner (Lawson, Nag, Thompson, Mokha, 2010). This apparent contradiction can be explained by spinally synthesized estrogen mediating KOR/MOR heterodimerization in the dorsal horn, which switches dynorphin from being pronociceptive to antinociceptive (N. J. Liu, Chakrabarti, Schnell, Wessendorf, Gintzler, 2011). In areas outside of the spinal cord, mechanisms involving ERα modulating dynorphin release vary by brain location, and also depend on whether or not ERE dependent pathways are activated (Gottsch et al., 2009). ERs are co expressed by the majority of enkephalin neurons in the superficial laminae of the dorsal horn in female rats (Amandusson Blomqvist, 2010). Estradiol ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reader is forced to think, make connections, and succeed in adding a new meaning to the novel. F. Scott Fitzgerald is a master of hiding deeper meanings behind a text as clearly showcased in the novel The Great Gatsby. The iceberg theory describes that only around 20% of the story is directly revealed through text. In comparison to an actual iceberg, that is usually the portion of the floating ice mountain that is visible above water. The other 80% of the story lies behind the scenes and is integrated in the structure of the story. This is similar to the lower part of iceberg that is located underwater: the ... The description of the Valley of Ashes as a desolate strip of land (Fitzgerald 22), allows the reader to recognize the negative personality changes, reflective of the 1920s. Fitzgerald was well known for writing in an almost satirical manner to describe his opinions of the 1920 s. The tragic and coincidental events that occur in the Valley of Ashes do not go unnoticed however, they are endlessly patrolled by the eyes of Dr. T. J. Eckleburg. Loss of Rights: Rhetorical Strategies in Groskopf s The digital age has destroyed the concept of ownership, and companies are taking advantage of it The digital age is changing our rights on the subject of ownership: less and less people know whether they can copy, sell or even lend their digital goods. An author named, Christopher Groskopf, wrote The digital age has destroyed the concept of ownership, and companies are taking advantage of it, published in 2016 in the Quartz, and he argues that intuition has fallen apart when talking about ownership of digital goods and that companies use their fine prints to take benefit from this. Groskopf uses a survey, reputable sources, facts and statistics in order to appeal to similar feelings and experiences in her adult readers; however, toward the end of the article, he weakens his argument by contradicting himself. In his article, Groskopf first sets the stage by letting the reader take a survey to let them see if they know the type of ownership a reader would have over an example of a digital book. His survey then outlines the uneven distribution of answers given showing that most of his readers are wrong about digital ownership rights. Groskopf continues by stating that most of the rights are outlined in the Terms of Service (TOS) of the selling company, a statistic from a reputable source showing that the majority of buyer s do not read the TOS and some examples demonstrating how companies can take advantage of this ... This discrepancy completely disparages the idea of her being a feminist icon. It is true that Elle is no longer motivated by Warner in any way by the end of the movie, indicating that she may have grown and seen the errors of her ways, but at no point in the entire film is it directly stated or even implied that Elle has a passion or interest in the study of law. Even if she truly has readjusted her perspective by the end of the film, it comes too late to have any sort of impact, as our impressions of Elle have already been made. Her actions don t send the message of empowerment to achieve one s dreams through hard work and passion, but rather to achieve happiness through obtaining the approval of a man. Further damaging the view of Elle as a feminist icon is the fact that she consistently reinforces harmful stereotypes about women. Elle is clearly meant to be presented as a sorority stereotype, but rather than overcoming and breaking free from it, she proves it to be true time and time again. The Principles Of Laser Doppler Flowmetry 2 Table of Contents Introduction and History 1 The Principles Of Laser Doppler Flowmetry 2 Clinical Applications 4 Recent Developments 4 Glossary 5 Works Cited 6 Introduction and History Laser Doppler flowmetry, or LDF, is a unique way to measure the microcirculatory blood flow without a painful or invasive procedure. LDF uses the Doppler shift theory as a way to transmit the information, with the scattering of light coming from the laser by way of the red blood cells. [A, B, C] Micro vascular applications have greatly benefited from this type of technology. The accuracy and reproducibility can be shown after years of extensive research. It can continuously monitor the blood flow and between every two to five seconds give an average output value. [E] The blood cell velocity in capillaries is too low to use the technique of the Doppler shift using ultrasound, as the frequencies of the sound that would reverberate back would be too small to identify. [B] Using the laser, calculations based upon the measurements between the primary light source s frequencies that were transferred towards the vasculature and the reflective light coming back towards the source can determine the blood flow s velocity. [B] This non destructive way to assess microcirculatory function has been around for approximately 40 years now in its realised state. The proposed device became experimentally plausible in 1972 when Riva used LDF for measuring retina vessels in rabbits. [D] Around 1980 another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In other words, do we have free will or are our actions pre determined, or both? This view that free will and determinism are incompatible but it is free will that exists, not determinism, is also supported by libertarians. Libertarians believe that we are free and are morally responsible for our actions. They believe that the inanimate world is mechanical and is therefore caused and predictable but reject the idea that this extends to humans. Three important considerations include the following: Personal jurisdiction which allows courts to have jurisdiction over both the plaintiff and defendant in a case. In Margolin s suit, personal jurisdiction would not apply because although the company does business in the state of New York, both Novelty Now and Funny Faces are not incorporated or have principle offices in this state. Subject matter jurisdiction allows a court the authority to only hear case that are in regards to a specific topic. In the first study, the response of the second person to order the drink and take part in the ongoing conversation is the dependent variable. In the second study, the dependent variable is the mannerisms with which the customer responds to the seller.
