The Virginian, by Owen Wister
The Virginian
The cowboy hero, The Virginian, as portrayed in Owen Wister s novel was the first of his kind
and today is known as the stereotypical mythic cowboy figure which our view of the western
frontier are based from. The Virginian was the first full length western novel apart from the short
dime novels which marked the final stage in the evolution of the cowboy hero to a national icon.
The Virginian was published in 1902 and at that time was wildly popular because of the
settlement of the west. The story of the cowboy who had the skill and courage to take control of
the untamed frontier enthralled people. The cowboy hero had a few distinguished qualities, he was
a self appointed vigilante, he had a very strict moral code, he ... Show more content on

The man had thrown something, which turned out to be a bottle. (66). This little exchange
following the stage coach incident with Molly was an example of the intolerance the Virginian
had for the mistreatment of women and he stood by his moral code and saved her from any
further danger. Finally the western hero s wit and exceptional skills of perception really
brought the most depth and character to the mythic cowboy hero. The wit of a cowboy and his
capacity to understand an audience is commonly the point of a challenge as we see in The
Virginian. Once again I had heard applied to the Virginian that epithet which Steve so freely
used. The same words, identical to the letter. But this time they had produced a pistol. When
you call me that, SMILE! So I perceived a new example of the old truth, that the letter means
nothing until the spirit gives it life. (21). The Virginian is putting Trampas in his place with the
phrase, When you call me that, smile! he orders the action and reins his enemies with his speech
as greatly as he does with his physical actions. His speech is held in reserve for only the
moments he needs to use it, much like his other abilities. The western hero rarely uses his gun or
language as a weapon, but when he does it is powerful, precise and effective. Typically a cowboy is
a man of little words but when he does talk he has a way of getting right down

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Premenstrual Syndrome
Chiagozie Harry Okeke Psych 236 02: Psychology of Women Prof. Edna Pressler, Ph.D. Report
2 October 23, 2016 Get Involved 7.1 (Menstrual symptoms) Premenstrual syndrome (PMS), are
symptoms that comes with severe pains, one to two weeks before one s period starts. In
addition, most women have at least some symptoms of PMS, and the symptoms go away after
their period s starts. For some women, the symptoms seem to be very severe enough to affect
their lives, and this is referred as PMS is called premenstrual dysphoric disorder or PMDD.
Therefore, I will focus on the meaning of menstruation, cycle, symptoms, methods, treatments and
also to address these questions from the text; (1) Did individuals who completed the menstrual
joy part first report less menstrual distress than those who completed the menstrual distress part?
If so, why? (2) Why do you think some women have more positive feelings than others before
and during their menstrual periods? (3) Why have the negative aspects of menstruation been
emphasized much more than the positive periods? (4) What might be done to focus more on the
positive side of menstruation? ( Etaugh Bridges, 2013, Pg.147 ). Menstruation according to (
Etaugh Bridges, 2013, Pg.144 ) involves the release of mature egg or ovum from its surroundings
capsule or follicle. However, this cycle comes in four phases, which is an average of 28days in

Should Everyone Go To College Research Paper
Whether or not everyone should be required to go to college is an issue that is constantly being
discussed within our society. Some people believe that everyone should be required to go to
college while other people believe that everyone should not be required to go to college. Therefore,
in this paper, I will address the issue of whether or not everyone should be required to go to college.
First, I will explain an argument that shows that everyone should be required to go to college is
wrong. Second, I will present my own argument, showing why that argument is bad. Third, I will
conclude with some further thoughts about whether or not everyone should be required to go to
college. As a result, in this paper, I will argue that not everyone should be required to go to
college. As previously stated, whether or not everyone should be required to go... Show more

For example, the first premise, which is that college graduates have more and better employment
opportunities, is false. The reason why the first premise is false is that not all college graduates
have more and better employment opportunities. Not all college graduates have more and better
employment opportunities because there are too many workers and not enough jobs. What this
means is that when college graduates are ready to work, they will not have many employment
opportunities due to the limited amount of jobs. For example, there are too many students who
are studying law and once they graduate from college, they will have a difficult amount of time
finding a legal job due to a decrease in demand of lawyers. As a result, law students could face
unemployment. However, if a college student wants to have more and better employment
opportunities, then he or she will need to go to college and find a career, which has a high

Abstract With the increasing variety of mobile applications, reducing the energy utilization of
mobile devices is a major challenge in multimedia streaming applications. In this paper we
investigate energy efficient offloading policy for transcoding as a service in a generic mobile
cloud system. we explores how to minimize the energy consumption of the backlight when
displaying a video stream without adversely impacting the user s visual experience. we put forward
algorithms to solve the fundamental problem and prove the optimality in terms of energy savings.
Finally, based on the algorithms, we present a cloud based energy saving service.
The proposed offloading policy can reduce energy consumption on both mobile devices and the
cloud jointly, which provides guidelines for the design of green mobile cloud. Keyword: Mobile

Informative Speech On Henry Ford
I am here to tell you about Henry Ford and how he made the Ford Motor Company famous.
Henry Ford was born on July thirtieth, eighteen sixty three at his dad s farm in Wayne County
Michigan. Henry s parents were William Ford and Mary Ford. William was an Irish
businessman and Mary died while giving birth to her last child. Henry had four siblings, two
brothers and two sisters. His sisters were Margaret Ford and Jane Ford. His brothers were William
Ford Jr. and Robert Ford. Henry attended local private schools as a young boy and also attended a
private grammar school. Later Henry attended Bryant and Stratton Business College. As Henry
Turned sixteen he became a machinist and had became interested in automobiles. A few years later

One of the first automobiles and probable one of the most successful was the Model T. This
automobile was reliable but since it was one of Henry s first it was a little high in price. In
nineteen o nine Henry started to mass produce the Model T and it was a big hit. The original
cost of the Model T when Henry first started producing them was eight hundred and fifty dollars.
This may sound very cheap today but this was very expensive in the early nineteen hundreds.
With this cost Henry was not impressed and only met half of his goal. Henry tried to meet his
goal by creating a chain of conveyer belts to move parts through the factory faster, more
efficiently, and at a steady pace. Henry also had a new idea he wanted to try with having only
one person perform a single and small task. With Henry having one person per task he was going
to need hundreds of people to work, but Henry had no trouble with that because he was paying
five dollars a day to the people who worked in his factory. By making these simple adjustments to
the way Henry produced the automobiles, it cut the time that it took to assemble them
tremendously. The time to assemble a new Model T went from a long twelve and a half hours in
nineteen twelve to a very short one hour and a half in nineteen fourteen. This was amazing for
Henry but this only brought the price down a little bit, this meant not everyone or most people
could afford it. Henry decided to try to get the cost lower and he soon succeeded by making his
own glass and steel. This brought the cost down but also made sure the product where tough and
were exactly what Henry needed for his automobiles. By making his own materials it brought the
price down to five hundred and fifty dollars in nineteen thirteen. Henry still thought the price
needed to be lower so everyone could afford to have a Model T. By nineteen fifteen the

Utilitarian Philosophes
The Utilitarian principle, states that an action is moral, or good when it produces the greatest
happiness for the greatest numbers , this statement was said by the philosopher Cesare Beccaria
and was further expounded by Jeremy Bentham into a full theory. However, their views on Law
and punishment are very much independent and in order to illustrate this, it will be conversed
further on what their key philosophes are and whether they can be equated to modern crime
reduction theories. In addition, if there are any moral dilemmas that demonstrate their thinking is
still resonance. Whilst both shared their views on utilitarian, it has been said that there is an
important significance between the two, writers such as Hart (1983) are said to have discovered
that, whereas Beccaria s original idea of utility was limited by... Show more content on

Torture was additionally another act he did not see fit to be used especially whilst trying to
obtain a confession for a conviction, as an innocent man may have suffered needless pain or may
have been forced into confessing to a crime he was not guilty of or in fact was yet to be proved.
Jeremy Bentham s first major piece of work was an Introduction to the Principles of Morals and
Legislation, within he expounded on the work of Cesare Beccaria on the Utilitarian theory
Similar to Beccaria s views on deterrence, Bentham was also a supporter and he thought that the
actually threat of being punished worked as a deterrent to crime
Bentham first believed that with the exceptions of certain crimes, such as murder with aggravating
circumstances and for cases of treason, capital punishment should be used. However, later on
(1809) he changed his views and as such disregarded all exceptions and therefore was in
disagreement with capital punishment being

Thailand and Sri Lanka was 64.7% and 45.6% of total expenditure on health, while that of India
in the same year was only 17.3%. In the year 2005, the government expenditure on health for
Thailand and Sri Lanka was 63.9% and 46.2% of total expenditure on health, and India though it
remained significantly low had a small increase from 17.3% to 19.0%. This data shows the very
low priority accorded to the healthsector by the government in India.
In 2007, according to WHO s World Health Statistics, India ranked 184 among 191 countries in
terms of public expenditure on health as a percent of GDP. In per capita terms, India ranked 164
in the same sample of 191 countries, spending just about $29 (PPP). This level of per capita public
expenditure on health was around a third of Sri Lanka s and 14 percent of Thailand s (WHO, 2010).

Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Magnetic resonance imaging has the potential of totally replacing computed tomography. If history
was rewritten, and CT invented after MRI, nobody would bother to pursue CT. Philip Drew
(Mattson and Simon, 1996)
WHAT IT IS
Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or commonly known as MRI, is a technique used in medicine for
producing images of tissues inside the body. It is an important diagnostic tool because it enables
physicians to identify abnormal tissue without opening the body through surgery. MRI lets
physicians see through bones and organs. MRI does not expose the patient to radiation, unlike tests
that use X rays. MRI provides an unparallel view inside the human body. It is the method of choice

MRI AND BEYOND
MRI technology is still in its infancy. The first MRI exam on a human being ever taken was on
July 3, 1977. MRI has been in widespread use for less than 20 years (compared with over 100 years
for x rays). There is still a long future for MRI. It is only the beginning. We can now image in
seconds what used to take hours.
Here are a few of the developments:
1. Very small scanners for imaging specific body parts are being developed.
2. Functional brain mapping (scanning a person s brain while he or she is performing a certain
physical task such as squeezing a ball, or looking at a particular type of picture) is helping
researchers better understand how the brain works.
3. Research is under way in a few institutions to image the ventilation dynamics of the lungs through
the use of hyperpolarized helium 3 gas.
4. New, improved ways to image strokes in their earliest stages is ongoing.(

MMS Rent a Car, based in Atlanta, Georgia, has outlets at major airports and cities throughout
North America. Founded by CEO Elena Markum several years ago, it has seen fast growth over
the past few years, mainly because it offers quality service, fast, at convenient locations. MMS is
highly competitive, able to offer cars at slightly lower rates than its competitors because most of its
airport facilities are located near but not at the airport. A keen user of information systems, MMS

And the Spider came to us right off the new assembly line in Pittsburgh. ELENA: I have one of
the Spiders, too. So I suspect that they re constantly rented out, aren t they? MICHAEL: Well,
no. Only about half of them are rented. The rental rates were supposed to be set pretty high, but
our RMS recommends setting it at the same price as a compact. We hedged a little and set the
price to about 10 percent higher. Some local agency offices are overriding the system and setting
the prices 15 percent less, and they still can t move them. ELENA : How about the other classes
of cars? MICHAEL: Rentals are down about 8 percent nationally on all the other ones. E LENA
: So sales are down 8 percent for everything but the Spider, and the Spider, which should be a hot
seller, is off by 50 percent. I know from CLAUDIA that our inventory is okay. All the new cars
came in on schedule, and we were able to sell the used cars through electronic auction sites and

primarily my problem, though all of you here are involved. We ve never had this happen before,
so I really don t know how to classify the problem. But I think we can get at most of the

cause so we can correct the problem. I want some time to get my analysts and

Fracking is considered one of the most controversial...
Fracking is considered one of the most controversial methods of obtaining Earth s natural gases. It
is also known as hydraulic fracturing, which is drilling and introducing fluid (mostly water) into
the ground to get certain rocks to produce natural gases. Fracking could cause devastating effects
to the environment. According to the article Hydraulic Fracturing 101 on the web site
earthworks.com, fracking can not only use up a lot of water, but it can also contaminate
groundwater. Two to ten million gallons of water can be used to fracture a single well. Also the
water used to fracture has many additives, such as hydrochloric acid, that can prove deadly to those
who come in contact with them. In Hydraulic Fracturing 101 it stated that... Show more content on

After the fracturing process is over, GasFrac is able to recover one hundred percent of it s
fracturing components, un like conventional fracturing which can leave up to 80% of it s fracturing
liquids in the ground, which causes pollution and extensive cleanup. Also it takes much less space
to store LPG, which decreases the amount of trucks needed to transport it compared to
conventional fracking. As you can see, there are more positive factors to LPG vs. conventional
fracking liquids than being water less.
But how does water less fracking work? GasFrac.com stats that the GasFrac system is completely
closed, pressurized well, that doesn t allow any exposure to the air around it. Due to this there is
no vapor build up, or air pollution. The injection process uses LPG combined in a mixer with
sand, which stimulates the release of gas from the rocks in the ground below the GasFrac
system. After the process is done, all the fracturing fluids, and natural gases are efficiently
recovered, leaving less of a footprint in the environment and reducing cleanup. The process itself
is also much more efficient than fracking with water, getting a greater uptake in less time. The
system itself is controlled completely by computers. The personnel doesn t even have to be near
the GasFrac system while its fracking, which means greater workers safety. Monitors are
constantly examining the work site searching for any sort of gas build up, or LPG release into the

James Webb Telescope
We can search for things that can t be seen by using EMR, or some of NASA s tools like a
telescope. For example, the James Webb Telescope or the Hubble Telescope can help us see the
universe more clearly than we ever have. To start, in the reading, JWTS: A vision for the future, it
states that Lyman Spitzer Jr. dreamed of a telescope that could snap crystal clear views of the
universe. This telescope would be able to reveal clearer images of far off objects than any of the
telescopes we have on Earth. This telescope was eventually known as the James Webb Telescope.
This proves that it can help things see objects that can t be seen by humans because the Earth s

My evidence proves that the JWTS can help search for these things because even though we
have many infrared telescopes on Earth, the best place to do it is in space, because of how
bright the atmosphere glows in infrared light. This will allow us to better understand how the
universe, galaxies, stars, and planets came to be. Also, infrared light pierces through layers of
dust that can hide objects in space, allowing the Webb, with its cutting edge technology, to see
the objects that are hidden. This proves we can use EMR to see things that can t be seen
because the universe is expanding, and visible light stretches as it travels through space, turning
it into infrared light. Which makes distant stars and galaxies seem out of sight. Not to mention,
Webb s vision will be able to see the flicker of the first galaxies popping into existence in the
early universe. It will chart the growth of galaxies from being shapeless masses to being huge
spiral shapes that may be home to new planets and solar systems. This ties in with the question,
how galaxies, planets, and stars came to be because this telescope will be able to see the birth of
galaxies and continue to watch it

Parents Should Be A Good Parent
Through the entire interview process, four of the eleven participants, two males, one was in the
younger age group and the other was in the older age group, and two females, again with one
from each group, explicitly said what my research has explained: children raised by gay parents
learn to become more open towards others than children raised by straight parents. All of the
participants gave answers that aligned with my research on the kind of parenta child needs and what
a healthy household consists of. Each contributor believed that love and support, as well as a
handful of other qualities leads to a well developed child. The handful of qualities mentioned by
informants were: stable, mature, and responsible. Informants believe a parent should be someone
who is capable of caring for someone else. No one mentioned a single thing about the sexual
orientationrequired to be a good parent; society does not take sexual orientation into consideration
when describing who could be a good parent.
To contrast what I found in researching to what I found informants had to say, two interviewees
depicted gay parenting as not the norm , or not normal in today s society , both from the younger
age group, one female and one male. Moreover, men tended to suppose that a child having gay
parents will be predisposed to gay tendencies and will therefore become confused with their sexual
orientation or may lean towards more gay tendencies . Of all the men who thought this, two of them

Advantages Of Saudi Women Drive
Group 2
Q10) In your opinion, why do you think Saudi women were not allowed to drive? [see p. 68] In
my opinion, I think the Saudi women are not allowed to drive because it would give them power
and personal freedom. They would be able to go out without the permission of their husbands or
fathers, nor would they need to fully rely on their husbands or fathers anymore. According to the
article, Saudi women were not allowed to drive because, most feel that driving here is dangerous
and initially for women would be as disastrous as when men started. Accident factor aside, it
would be worse because men unaccustomed to seeing women drive would follow and bother. It
would be a great sport (Alireza 68). Thus, they are not allowed to drive because they believe it
would bother the men too much; that the men would follow the women drivers around, making it
unsafe for them.

Likewise, many parents and teachers would argue the same and would oppose security cameras.
The addition of new security cameras would be an unnecessary expense which will not contribute
to children s learning, and therefore shouldn t even be given any priority compared to children s
education. Another point to be made is that

1. Stock Market A form of market where sellers and buyers exchange shares is called a stock
market. 2. Bond Market
A market place where buyers and sellers are engaged in the exchange of debt securities, usually in
the form of bonds is called a bond market. A bond is a contract signed by both the parties where
one party promises to return money with interest at fixed intervals. 3. Foreign Exchange Market In
such type of market, parties are involved in trading of currency. In a foreign exchange market (also
called currency market), one party exchanges one country s currency with equivalent quantity of
another currency. 4. Predictive Markets
Predictive market is a set up where exchange of good or service takes place for future. The buyer
benefits when the market goes up and is at a loss when the market crashes.
2. Physical markets Physical market is a set up where buyers can physically meet the sellers and
purchase the desired merchandise from them in exchange of money. Shopping malls, department
stores, retail stores are examples of physical markets. 3. Virtual Markets
In such markets, buyers purchase goods and services through internet. In such a market the buyers
and sellers do not meet or interact physically, instead the transaction is done through internet.

The Urinary Tract Infection ( Uti )
A Urinary tract infection (UTI) including the bladder and kidneys, is an infection that encompasses
the entire urinary system. The kidneys and bladder filter the blood to make Urine. A urinary
catheter is a thin tube placed in the bladder to drain urine. Urine drains through the tube into a bag
where the urinecollects. When the whole system is compromised, a patient can become very ill. A
catheterprovides a link between the outside environment and a usually sterile system. Now that the
catheter is in place, microorganisms are no longer removed by normal voiding. Germs do not
usually live in the region of the urinary system, but when they are re introduced through the absence
of voiding, infection becomes a problem. A urinary catheter may be used when you cannot urinate
on your own, to measure the amount of urine you produce, during and after certain types of surgery
and during testing of the urinary system. Health care associated infections(HAIs) are an on going
issue, specifically the prevention of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Simply
put, those with catheters have a higher chance of obtaining a CAUTI than patients who do not.
CAUTI is the most frequent type of HAI, and represents as much as 80% of HAIs in hospitals.(The
Joint Commission, 2011) This high occurrence of infection in hospitals creates a high concern in
patient centered care. The hospital can only do so much, what s important is exactly how the nurse
conducts herself. Starting

The Laboratory
In The Laboratory, the courtesan chooses poison as her murder weapon. Poison is often the
weapon of choice for female killers. It requires little or no physical strength to administer, and can
be done secretly. It also leaves little evidence thus making it difficult to detect the culprit. We
believe the act of murderis because of another woman that her lover is with and she feels
physically inferior to her rival. We know this because she starts saying What a drop! She s not
little, no minion like me. The murderer is also fascinated and excited about the poison and power
of the poison, she says And yonder soft phial, the exquisite blue sure to taste sweetly She thinks
that her rival who she is out to kill will think nothing of it and... Show more content on

He then makes sure that there is no evidence to how she died, so he untangles her hair from her
neck and then says Her head, which droops upon it still: the smiling rosy little head, so glad it
has its utmost will, that all it scorned at once is fled and I, it s love, am gained instead. This is
saying that he s glad she is dead and all her other lovers cannot place their hands on her anymore
as he has gained her love for as long as he lives. The character s motives for murder really is
jealousy and he s greedy and wants her for himself, he almost seems a little insane because at the
end of the poem he says And thus we sit together now, and all night long we have not stirred and
yet god has not said a word So he just sits with this dead woman all night and he believes strongly
that god does not mind what he has done and understands his motives for the murder of this
innocent woman. Finally Browning uses pathetic fallacy to reflect the mood, at the start of the
poem he says The rain set early in tonight, the sullen wind was soon awake, it tore the elm tops
down for spite and did its worst to vex the lave . This is showing us that the weather was miserable
and gloomy and the it was ripping leaves off and upsetting lakes.
So the murders in the poems are completely different to each other, but they almost both show

The Conquest of Polio, a Story of Rivalry and Success Essay
As recently at the 1950 s, polio was a common disease in the United States. It was first detected
as early as 1789 when doctors recorded small outbreaks of an odd disease accompanied by fever,
paralysis and a tendency to attack children. It wasn t until the summer of 1916, however, that the
public began to pay attention. Twenty seven thousand people were paralyzed that summer from
polio, with most of the victims being children. This is why the disease was called infantile
paralysis, although adults also were stricken by the disease (Smith, An Icon 36 40). It was later
renamed poliomyelitis, referring to the characteristic inflammation ( itis) of the gray (polios)
anterior matter of the spinal cord (myelos).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Body parts often shriveled up and became entirely useless as muscled atrophied. More severe
initial symptoms were flu like, including severe muscle pain, headaches, fever, sore throat,
stomachache, and other problems. Parents feared this disease with good reason. Often victims
had to spend the rest of their lives in a machine called an iron lung which enabled them to
breathe by mechanically compressing their chests. The iron lung was a large metal tube built
around a bed on which patients had to lie for the duration of their lives (Smith 63 69).
Additionally, stricken people were more susceptible to infections like pneumonia which gradually
weakened and sometimes killed them. The epidemic appeared to be growing worse each year and
it seemed that a miracle would be needed to stop any further death and paralysis. At the peak of the
rampage in 1955, Jonas Salk defeated the giant that was polio (Rosenberg interview). p
On April 12, 1955, a vaccine injection developed by Jonas Edward Salk was introduced to the
public. It succeeded in protecting people from paralytic poliomyelitis (polio). Shortly thereafter, an
even better oral vaccination was developed by Albert Sabin. These discoveries, considered the
greatest medical advance of the time, can be directly attributed to these two men, Jonas Salk and
Albert Sabin.

The Ring Of Monocromatic Houses Essay
The choice of the setting itself, narrowed by an architectonical ring of monocromatic houses,
echoes the same sense of claustrophobic immobility to which Jefferies is subject. While he is a
temporary prisoner whitin his own flat, his possibilities as an observer are similarly limited and so
are the spectators ones. Additionally, an intense orchestra soundtrack, involving either light hearted
violins and grave drums to fuel the viewers curiosity, is progressively softened as the characters
awake and start practicing their habits, according to the stereotyped lifestyle each of them
unconsciously embodies. Therefore, after the credits, a barely distinguishable threesome appears on
the top edge of the frame, standing on a corner terrace, as to represent its marginality. Subsequently,
the camera flows on the main building, enclosing its windows and producing a meta framing
mechanism, which might be defined as a cinematic matryoska effect. In the matter of the opening
scene, the framing arrangement is a pre eminent feature. The eye of the camera is always working
within the courtyard, occasionally shooting sparse glimpses from the road. One might find
interesting the initial state of the leading character, whose face is shown through a medium shot,
sleeping on a wheelchair he is temporarily confined to; in terms of perspective, this is the only
moment throughout the whole film in which the camera does not matches Jeffrey s view. The
viewers are provided with an autonomous

Tio2 Acetaminophen Analysis
TiO2 assisted photodegradation of acetaminophen Acetaminophen (adapted name for Paracetamol
or APAP) is a widely used painkiller, which has found its way to our aquifer (figure5).
Concentrations around 0.11Ојg/l have been reported in water streams in the U.S9. The concern
around toxicity and analgesic action of this drug has motivated researchers to explore various
techniques for an efficient treatment. A group of Chinese researchers have utilized suspended TiO2
at different pH values in a photochemical reactor for APAP treatment.

novelty in the field of photocatalysis. Radicals generated by illumination of light on TiO2 target

The Contradictions Of Women During The Victorian Era
The Victorian Era took place during 1837 1901 and is known as Queen Victoria s time period. She
was the first English monarch to see her name given to a time period while living. It was a time of
rapid advances in scientific, technological and medical knowledge, and even population growth.
Although Victorian England was based around the ideals of proper etiquette and maintaining high
society , the treatment of women during the Victorian Erahighlights the contradictions of this time.
Families in the Victorian Society were known to be rather large consisting of 6 children if they
were wealthy but even larger if they were poor. Women during the 1870 s were known to have
on average six children, but women towards the 1910 s were more likely to have three on
average. Victorian houses differed if you were poor or wealthy. Wealthy families were known to
have large extravagant homes with several bedrooms, large living rooms, parlors and dining
rooms separate from the kitchens. Poor families on the other hand were crowded into one room
that sometimes had to hold families of about twelve children plus the parents. Poor families had
more children because it meant that there were more able bodies to go to work and make money.

In the Victorian times it was better for a woman to accept the fact that their place was in the
home taking care of children, cooking, and keeping the house clean. If a wife separated from
her husband and they had one or multiple kids together, then she would lose all of her rights to
see her kids. It was not until 1887 that the Married Woman s Property Act was established. It
gave women the right to own her own property (Thomas and Thomas). Marriage was looked at as
voluntary. The woman had to do all of her tasks after she completed what she was asked to do by
her husband. Marriage was about companionship as well as authority (Tosh 24 and

Analysis Of The Film Life Is Beautiful
The movie Life is beautiful falls into two parts. The first is beautiful romantic comedy while the
other makes the viewer want to smile but cry at the same time. Roberto Benigni, who also
directed and co wrote the movie, stars as Guido, a hotel waiter in Italy in the 1930s. Watching his
adventures, we are reminded of the legendary Chaplin. The film starts in a scene where Guido
arrives in town in a runaway car with failed brakes and is mistaken for a visiting dignitary. He falls
in love instantly with the beautiful Dora (Nicoletta Braschi, Benigni s real life wife). He becomes
the undeclared rival of her fiance, the Fascist town clerk. He makes friends with the German
doctor (Horst Buchholz) who is a regular guest at the hotel and shares his love of riddles. And
by the fantastic manipulation of carefully planned coincidences, he makes it appear that he is
fated to replace the dour Fascist in Dora s life. Dora who was arranged to be married by the
Fascist town clerk suddenly starts to have second thoughts but because of Guido s charisma and
suave she literarily leaves with Guido on a horse during her engagement party and in one scene
even conspires to meet him on the floor under a banquet table; they kiss, and she whispers, Take
me away! . All of this early material, the first long act of the movie, is comedy much of it silent...

and Fascists, but about the human spirit. It is about rescuing whatever is good and hopeful from
the wreckage of dreams. About the necessary human conviction, or delusion, that things will be
better for our children than they are right now. A film where it teaches people history and the two
sides of humanity, one side filled with fascism, cruelty and violence and the other filled with love,
laughter and overcoming struggles. It just shows that life is truly

because it is good economically in the long run. Also Rocket Booster Stadium should upgrade to a

For example, The average costs of installation and maintenance for natural grass fields were
$325,000 and $27,000 while the average costs of installation, maintenance, and resurfacing for
synthetic infill fields were $1,212,000, $7,000, and $377,000. With the average cost of a single
year of maintenance for five natural grass fields was $35,000 while the average cost of a single
year of maintenance for the 10 synthetic infill fields was $7,000 (Daviscourt 1). In other words,
even though turf fields are costly at the beginning, for 10 synthetic fields it is 5 times less the
cost than 5 grass fields. This is important because if Rocket booster stadium upgrades the school
would be saving $28,000 in savings on field maintenance annually. L.B. Daviscourt goes on to
say that The average cost of a 20 year maintenance cycle for the five natural grass fields was
$903,000. The average cost of a 20 year maintenance cycle for the 10 synthetic infill fields was
$1,952,000. The average on synthetic infill fields was two times as much the average for natural
grass fields (Daviscourt 3). This shows that the original cost to the amount of players is less for
turf fields since there is many more activities on turf fields. Therefore Rocket Booster Stadium
should upgrade to turf because field management is 5x cheaper, fields are weather resistant, and

Fate Or Free Will Controls Human Lives
Generally, fate refers to the development of events beyond a person s control (Aurobindo). As
such, a fatalist is a person who believes that whatever happens is, and always was, unavoidable.
Moreover, such a person strongly believes that he or she has no control over what happens the
next moment, tomorrow, next year, or several years to come. Free will, on the other hand, is
formed by the power of sanction (Aurobindo). In other words, it is consent by the spirit that it shall
not be bound but that its enjoyment should be bound by time, space, and causality and by the
swabhava and the dharma (Aurobindo). To determine whether fate or free will controls human
lives, it is important to objectively analyse, synthesizes, and respond to the critical conversation
that the authors of class readings seem to be engaging with regard to this subject. In connection to
this, humanity has been fascinated by fate and free will for a long time. Some philosophers in the
Ancient Greek and the Middle Ages believed that free will influenced human destiny while others
believed that fate was responsible for what befell mankind.
The theme of fate conspicuously permeates Homer s famous poem, Ilad, from the first to the last
sentence. The author asserts that death is a natural and unavoidable part of human existence from
the onset by affirming that Akhilleus anger is doomed and ruinous. In this regard, fate but not free
will defines consciousness in the Trojan War. Although everybody

Stokely Carmichael Black Power
What is Black Power? Black power is a movement lead by Stokely Carmichael which promoted
the idea of black empowerment and creating a community where blacks feel comfortable in. It
implies self determination and self motivation. This means blacks should not rely on white
authority to fix racial issues but rather take matters into their own hands. It is a call for blacks to
define their own goals. This was not only meant as freedom from white authority but also as
economical and political independence. In this way Black Power was taking control of the
future of blacks in both economical and political ways and establishing a community in which
they will not have to suffer living as second class citizens. Black power also encouraged blacks to
have pride in their racial heritage and be proud to be black. A way of promoting this was by
using the slogan Black is Beautiful , to get people to see the beauty of being black and not to be
ashamed of their prominent black features. Stokely Carmichael encouraged this form of Black
Pride by saying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

which he believed was needed. This made him fearful of how Black Power would affect future

track of their wellness by determining the number of steps one takes, identify sleep patterns, and
celebrate exercise milestones accomplished. Fitbit products reduce the time constraint, providing
users with instant access to their fitness dashboard either directly from their phones or a computer.
Fitbit users find it convenient to use the fitness tracker because it is easily worn around the wrist
as an accessory or clipped to a particle of clothing.
Feedback and results. The Fitbit app provides instant feedback on physical activity and fitness

The two form a duopoly with market leadership in the sector largely rotating between these two
corporate giants depending on the market dynamics.
Commercial airlines and other air transport operators form the bulk of the customers. Governments
are also important customers. The government involvement in the sector extends to investing,
supporting (Aboulafia, Richard, 2000; O Neal, Michael, 1990) and regulating. Any problems in the
industry have implications that go well beyond the confines of the affected companies.
Governments therefore subsidize and invest in aircraft manufacturing and research and
development. This also serves to protect the highly skilled jobs in this sector and ensures that the
respective countries remain technologically competitive (Wall, R. Sparaco, P, 2007).
Big companies play an important role in the economics of the countries they operate in. They
influence the conditions in the industries and directly impact employment rate in the countries
where the manufacturing takes place. EADS and Boeing are the leading competitors in the aircraft

Empty Hands Summary
Empty Hands is the memoir of Sister Abegail Ntleko, and it is a great story of how hard work
and determination can help anyone make their dreams come true no matter the difficulty.
Ntleko had a rather humble beginning. She grew up without much money in a community
where education for young girls was not common or deemed necessary. Young girls were raised
caring for the household and were expected to be married off at a young age to do the exact
same thing for the rest of their lives. Her father had the same mindset, and it took years and a
meeting with the community chief for him to allow her to enter the first grade at age 14.
Because Ntleko s mother was no longer with her, members of the village would often visit her and
help her with things she needed. Mrs. Mckechnie was one of them who made a lasting impact on
Abegail. She encouraged her to get education, and that is what she went on to do. After elementary
school, she could no longer afford the requirements, so she ran away to work for a family, and it
wasn t until she had enough money saved up to afford schooling that she returned home. With the
helpof Mrs. Mckechnie, she was able to complete high school and even nursing school. After
becoming a certified nurse, Ntleko was bringing in steady income and began adopting children in
need. She also began acquiring different certifications such as psychology and ophthalmology that
would later help her be of service to various different communities. Her first community

Family Tenting Is Wrong
Family tenting has been popular for years and remains today. The own family tent is the principal
piece of equipment needed for camping. Choosing simply the right tent is vital to an enjoyable
tenting trip. This article will assist deciding on the form of a tent that will suit you first rate.
Sleeping Capacity Most tent manufacturers say particularly what some human beings can
effortlessly sleep in their tents. What a whole lot of human beings do not consider is the more
room needed for garb and supplies. Along with slumbering baggage, you will have duffel
baggage, suitcases, and maybe a backpack or two. So when you have four people in your
celebration, you have to bear in mind purchasing a tent that sleeps six or eight.
Ease of Set Up The whole point of camping is to loosen up and no longer be stressed out, but a tent
it truly is difficult to set up can undo that during a rush. Before shopping for a tent study the

This kind of tent is normally less complicated to install and less complicated to transport later if the
want arises.
Rain Flies Some nicer tents come prepared with a separate piece of water resistant fabric called a
rain fly. This piece goes just above the roof of the tent and helps shed water within the event of an
unexpected rain shower. You may not need it. However, it s best to know you ve got the more
protection if it does rain. This should be a demand in your subsequent tent.
Don t fall for the strains from a few producers that claim their tent walls and roofs are already
water resistant. They might resist water for a quick time, but they without a doubt are not water
resistant. Also, take into account that the zippers for the doorways and home windows might not be
water resistant. A rain fly is the most appropriate manner to keep rain out of your

Applied Assumption of Risk
MEMORANDUM
TO: Larry Craig
FROM: Applicant
RE:Adair v. Oldfield, Implied Assumption of Risk
DATE:January 5, 2014
ISSUES
1) Whether the risks that Adair faced were inherent in the activity of rock climbing?
2) Which statements by Williams would be admissible at trial?
BRIEF ANSWERS
1) Yes. Defendant owes no duty to protect Adair from the harm he alleges because an inherent risk
of rock climbing includes the negligence of co participants as well as the danger of falling.
2) At trial, Williams will be able to offer his opinion as to the cause of the accident, but will be
barred from any testimony regarding any risks inherent to the sport of rock climbing.
1. IMPLIED ASSUMPTION OF RISK OF INJURY

In Handleman, the plaintiff alleged that he could not have foreseen that he could be injured by
exposed outcropping of rock. Handleman at 13. Similarly, plaintiff Adair alleges that none of us
bargained on putting our lives on the line by climbing without an anchor on a practice climb. The
court in Handleman forecloses this line of inquiry into foreseeability by reasoning that assumption
of risk does not require clairvoyance to forsee the exact accident and injury that in fact occurs. Id.
Consequently, the court held that all that is required to prove assumption of risk is that the injury
be within the range of possibilities. Id. Falling is certainly within the range of possibility for
anyone who is climbing high up on a rock formation, and therefore Adair assumed the risk of falling
in the instant case.
CONCLUSION
Defendant owes no duty to protect Adair from the harm he alleges because an inherent risk of rock
climbing includes the negligence of co participants as well as the danger of falling.
2. ADMISSIBILITY OF EXPERTTESTIMONY
The Staten court, following Knight, held that the question of duty is a legal question that must be
determined by the court. Staten at 7. Consequently, experts may not give opinions on matters that
are for the court to decide. Id. Staten held that the trial court erred by admitting expert testimony
regarding whether being cut with a co participant s skate was an

Eagle-Headed Apkallu Guardian Figure Analysis
Paper Assignment #1 Writing in Art History: The Formal Analysis
Figure 1 : Eagle headed Apkallu Guardian Figure
Angelica Copaus
ARTH 1380 Art and Society (Prehistoric to Gothic)
Figure 2
The Eagle headed Apkallu Guardian Figure is a low relief sculpture from 883 859 B.C. Assyria.
Made from gypsum, this sculpture measures approximately 42 1/8 inches tall, 26 inches wide and 1
ВЅ inches thick. The sculpture is mounted on the wall of the dark, navy blue painted Antiquities
section of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, dimly lit by the luminance of showcase lights. The
guardian figure watches over the room as visitors pass through the archway between two exhibits of
the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. In The Eagle headed Apkallu Guardian Figure, the artist uses

Explained in the dissertation written by Gane, the Assyrian name of the bucket is banddudГ»
which translates exactly to bucket , and the name for the cone is mulluli which translates to
purifier. The bucket is said to contain holy water, so when the purifying cone is dipped into the
bucket and then sprinkled atop the Sacred Tree, it leads to the conclusion that the apkallu figure is
performing an act of purification for the land of Ashur. However, another interpretation of these
items is that the shape of the cone also resembles that of the male flower of date palms, and is held
in the right hand of the subject which symbolizes masculinity. The bucket could be interpreted as
containing pollen, and thus when the cone is dipped into the bucket held in the feminine hand and
sprinkled atop the Sacred Tree, it leads to the conclusion that the apkallu figure is performing an
act of fertilization for the land of Ashur. Either way, the apkallu figure is performing some kind of
ritual to secure the abundance of the

Theory Of Teaching And Learning
Theory of Teaching and Learning Part 1. What I Believe about Teaching and Learning It is my
opinion that conventional teaching strategies cannot meet the requirements of the classroom
environment. First, the classroom environment has been culturally diversified. Second, not all
students have similar capabilities or work at the same rate even if they are of the same age. Third,
each student has their own learning style. In addition, some students do not react well to the
conventional strategies of teaching and, as a result, there is a lack of learning (Heimlich Norland,
2002, p. 18). A Constructivist teaching environment affords more opportunties for both teachers
and students, and makes learning more efficient and effective. The Montessori teaching technique
is one of the best techniques because of its eight fundamental principles (Lillard, 2005, p. 29).
These principles include: The premise that cognition and movement are closely interrelated, and
that movement can improve cognition and learning in students. It also holds that the process of
learning and well being are enhanced when an individual or student has some degree of control
over their lives. Individuals learn well when they develop an interest in what they are being taught.
The technique also holds that associating learning activities with a certain reward such as monetary
rewards and promises for better grades, adversely affects the learning process and negatively
motivates the students to learn

Affirmative Action Analysis
Affirmative Action: Overview A reflection on the society depicts the fact that it is composed of
individuals with varying differences aligned with gender, race, socio economic status, and
education levels. While it is true that all people should be equal irrespective of these factors, there
is a need to note that there exist a persistent discriminationof various people. Affirmative actionhas
often been poised as the most comprehensive means through which equality can be attained. While
much has been hypothesized regarding affirmative action, it is of the essence to note that it mainly
connotes to actions and policies that are intended to ensure equality for all people regardless of the
differences they exhibit (Bridges 73). Affirmative action is established with the sole intent of
assuring equal opportunities for all. From this analysis, it can be deduced that the scope of
affirmative action is to assure equality between minority and majority groups. There are various
strategies that are often utilized to enhance the affirmative action.... Show more content on

Based on a personal thought, affirmative action would be more beneficial if it based on class and
not race. Class based affirmative action offers a comprehensive platform that assures an
enhancement in the representation of the minorities. Class based affirmative action favors
individuals from low income backgrounds, which ends up favoring the minority groups (Berry
Bonilla Silva 237). An analysis of racial minority groups points to the fact that they have lower
economic statuses. Therefore, class based affirmative action caters for low income groups who
mainly comprise of the racial minority groups. Overall, class based affirmative action is
recommendable because it caters for both racial and class based

Difference Between Healthcare And The Military Draft
My vision for America is to have a country that fulfills its title as the land of the free. We need
more freedom for our future and for our safety. This can be done by liberating more contained
liberties and by removing those that imprison our freedom. The two main issues that follow this
are healthcare and the military draft. The first main issue that impedes on our freedom is
healthcare. It is our right and freedom to receive quality healthcare at no cost. Some people cannot
receive the care they need and deserve because they cannot afford the insurance or the cost of the
medical bills. Cancer patients do not receive treatment, hospital patients go into crippling debt
because they cannot afford their hospital bills, and those with serious

Philosophical Pessimism In Neutral Tones, By James Hardy
Talking about pessimism, it is one aspect that may be found in some literary work, such as poem.
Pessimism is a state of mind in which one anticipates undesirable outcomes or believes that the evil
or hardships in life outweigh the good or luxuries . The term pessimism is often related to
philosophical pessimism. The philosophical pessimistic view of the effect of historical progress
tends to be more negative than positive. The philosophical pessimist does not deny that certain
areas like science can progress but they deny that this has resulted in an overall improvement of the
human condition. In this sense it could be said that the pessimist views history as ironic; while
seemingly getting better, it is mostly in fact not improving at all, or getting worse .
In Pessimism: Philosophy, Ethic, Spirit, Joshua Foa Dienstag outlines the main propositions shared
by most philosophical pessimists as that time is a burden; that the course of history is in some
sense ironic; that freedom and happiness are incompatible; and that human existence is absurd .

Neutral Tones is one of his pessimistic poems which written soon after the death of his first
wife. This poem was written in 1867 and it was a part of an anthology called Wessex Poems that
published in 1898. Among Hardy s early poems, this one has gotten much praise. The Wessex
Poems are marked by a lack of adornment; they are generally gloomy like the countryside that
forms the background to most of these poems. The theme in this anthology is disappointment in
love and life. As does it applies in Neutral Tones, the theme is about the end of the relationship
associated with the scene described, showing Hardy s power of suggesting feelings through an
image. Hardy proposes to make his pessimistic point by writing poems which have remarkably
pessimistic tones of his

High Renaissance Art
Three fascinating artists known as Raphael, Michelangelo, and Leonardo marked the stylistic
period of the Italy 1500 to 1600. These three men inspired the high Renaissance. Florence and
Rome hosted the leading artist for that century. I will like to describe a painting of Raphael that
caught my attention from reading the textbook; it is called the Marriage of the Virgin. In this
painting the artists used linear perspective to create the illusion of space in the far back. He
placed the vanishing point of the one point perspective in the doorway of the beautiful painted
round house that is symmetrical on both side. The artists created the plaster in different sizes of
rectangular shapes in red and cream colors to emphasize on the importance of linear perspective
in the painting. If the painting was divided in two parts, the viewer will see that it is symmetric on
both sides. There are thirteen figures on each side of the painting with the high priest being the
middleman placed in the center of the human drama. He also put the figures in groups that relate to
the part they each play in the artwork, this is known as a unified figure group in high... Show more

In the back of the portrait he included a beautiful landscape by incorporating chiaroscuro and
atmospheric perspective. The figure itself is a triangular shape. The artist used different shades
of colors to achieve the smoky look he wanted. The emotion is maintained and well balance; this
can be seen in the way she seated quietly and the gentle smile on the figure. The figure also gazes
directly at the viewer to encage with them. In many cultures women are not allowed to look in the
eyes of men because men are perceive to be dominant and superior over females. During the
renaissance people dictated that women should not do the same, however Leonardo was able to
capture the personality of this woman through her

  • 2. The Virginian, by Owen Wister The Virginian The cowboy hero, The Virginian, as portrayed in Owen Wister s novel was the first of his kind and today is known as the stereotypical mythic cowboy figure which our view of the western frontier are based from. The Virginian was the first full length western novel apart from the short dime novels which marked the final stage in the evolution of the cowboy hero to a national icon. The Virginian was published in 1902 and at that time was wildly popular because of the settlement of the west. The story of the cowboy who had the skill and courage to take control of the untamed frontier enthralled people. The cowboy hero had a few distinguished qualities, he was a self appointed vigilante, he had a very strict moral code, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The man had thrown something, which turned out to be a bottle. (66). This little exchange following the stage coach incident with Molly was an example of the intolerance the Virginian had for the mistreatment of women and he stood by his moral code and saved her from any further danger. Finally the western hero s wit and exceptional skills of perception really brought the most depth and character to the mythic cowboy hero. The wit of a cowboy and his capacity to understand an audience is commonly the point of a challenge as we see in The Virginian. Once again I had heard applied to the Virginian that epithet which Steve so freely used. The same words, identical to the letter. But this time they had produced a pistol. When you call me that, SMILE! So I perceived a new example of the old truth, that the letter means nothing until the spirit gives it life. (21). The Virginian is putting Trampas in his place with the phrase, When you call me that, smile! he orders the action and reins his enemies with his speech as greatly as he does with his physical actions. His speech is held in reserve for only the moments he needs to use it, much like his other abilities. The western hero rarely uses his gun or language as a weapon, but when he does it is powerful, precise and effective. Typically a cowboy is a man of little words but when he does talk he has a way of getting right down ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, most women have at least some symptoms of PMS, and the symptoms go away after their period s starts. For some women, the symptoms seem to be very severe enough to affect their lives, and this is referred as PMS is called premenstrual dysphoric disorder or PMDD. Therefore, I will focus on the meaning of menstruation, cycle, symptoms, methods, treatments and also to address these questions from the text; (1) Did individuals who completed the menstrual joy part first report less menstrual distress than those who completed the menstrual distress part? If so, why? (2) Why do you think some women have more positive feelings than others before and during their menstrual periods? (3) Why have the negative aspects of menstruation been emphasized much more than the positive periods? (4) What might be done to focus more on the positive side of menstruation? ( Etaugh Bridges, 2013, Pg.147 ). Menstruation according to ( Etaugh Bridges, 2013, Pg.144 ) involves the release of mature egg or ovum from its surroundings capsule or follicle. Some people believe that everyone should be required to go to college while other people believe that everyone should not be required to go to college. Therefore, in this paper, I will address the issue of whether or not everyone should be required to go to college. First, I will explain an argument that shows that everyone should be required to go to college is wrong. Second, I will present my own argument, showing why that argument is bad. Third, I will conclude with some further thoughts about whether or not everyone should be required to go to college. The reason why the first premise is false is that not all college graduates have more and better employment opportunities. Not all college graduates have more and better employment opportunities because there are too many workers and not enough jobs. What this means is that when college graduates are ready to work, they will not have many employment opportunities due to the limited amount of jobs. For example, there are too many students who are studying law and once they graduate from college, they will have a difficult amount of time finding a legal job due to a decrease in demand of lawyers. • 6. Informative Speech On Henry Ford I am here to tell you about Henry Ford and how he made the Ford Motor Company famous. Henry Ford was born on July thirtieth, eighteen sixty three at his dad s farm in Wayne County Michigan. Henry s parents were William Ford and Mary Ford. William was an Irish businessman and Mary died while giving birth to her last child. Henry had four siblings, two brothers and two sisters. His sisters were Margaret Ford and Jane Ford. His brothers were William Ford Jr. and Robert Ford. Henry attended local private schools as a young boy and also attended a private grammar school. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the first automobiles and probable one of the most successful was the Model T. This automobile was reliable but since it was one of Henry s first it was a little high in price. In nineteen o nine Henry started to mass produce the Model T and it was a big hit. The original cost of the Model T when Henry first started producing them was eight hundred and fifty dollars. This may sound very cheap today but this was very expensive in the early nineteen hundreds. With this cost Henry was not impressed and only met half of his goal. Henry tried to meet his goal by creating a chain of conveyer belts to move parts through the factory faster, more efficiently, and at a steady pace. Henry also had a new idea he wanted to try with having only one person perform a single and small task. With Henry having one person per task he was going to need hundreds of people to work, but Henry had no trouble with that because he was paying five dollars a day to the people who worked in his factory. By making these simple adjustments to the way Henry produced the automobiles, it cut the time that it took to assemble them tremendously. The time to assemble a new Model T went from a long twelve and a half hours in nineteen twelve to a very short one hour and a half in nineteen fourteen. This was amazing for Henry but this only brought the price down a little bit, this meant not everyone or most people could afford it. Henry decided to try to get the cost lower and he soon succeeded by making his own glass and steel. This brought the cost down but also made sure the product where tough and were exactly what Henry needed for his automobiles. By making his own materials it brought the price down to five hundred and fifty dollars in nineteen thirteen. Henry still thought the price needed to be lower so everyone could afford to have a Model T. By nineteen fifteen the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Fracking is considered one of the most controversial... Fracking is considered one of the most controversial methods of obtaining Earth s natural gases. It is also known as hydraulic fracturing, which is drilling and introducing fluid (mostly water) into the ground to get certain rocks to produce natural gases. Fracking could cause devastating effects to the environment. According to the article Hydraulic Fracturing 101 on the web site earthworks.com, fracking can not only use up a lot of water, but it can also contaminate groundwater. Two to ten million gallons of water can be used to fracture a single well. Also the water used to fracture has many additives, such as hydrochloric acid, that can prove deadly to those who come in contact with them. In Hydraulic Fracturing 101 it stated that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the fracturing process is over, GasFrac is able to recover one hundred percent of it s fracturing components, un like conventional fracturing which can leave up to 80% of it s fracturing liquids in the ground, which causes pollution and extensive cleanup. Also it takes much less space to store LPG, which decreases the amount of trucks needed to transport it compared to conventional fracking. As you can see, there are more positive factors to LPG vs. conventional fracking liquids than being water less. But how does water less fracking work? GasFrac.com stats that the GasFrac system is completely closed, pressurized well, that doesn t allow any exposure to the air around it. Due to this there is no vapor build up, or air pollution. The injection process uses LPG combined in a mixer with sand, which stimulates the release of gas from the rocks in the ground below the GasFrac system. After the process is done, all the fracturing fluids, and natural gases are efficiently recovered, leaving less of a footprint in the environment and reducing cleanup. The process itself is also much more efficient than fracking with water, getting a greater uptake in less time. The system itself is controlled completely by computers. The personnel doesn t even have to be near the GasFrac system while its fracking, which means greater workers safety. For example, the James Webb Telescope or the Hubble Telescope can help us see the universe more clearly than we ever have. To start, in the reading, JWTS: A vision for the future, it states that Lyman Spitzer Jr. dreamed of a telescope that could snap crystal clear views of the universe. This telescope would be able to reveal clearer images of far off objects than any of the telescopes we have on Earth. This telescope was eventually known as the James Webb Telescope. This proves that it can help things see objects that can t be seen by humans because the Earth s atmosphere blocks clear views of the stars and James Webb Telescope will certainly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My evidence proves that the JWTS can help search for these things because even though we have many infrared telescopes on Earth, the best place to do it is in space, because of how bright the atmosphere glows in infrared light. This will allow us to better understand how the universe, galaxies, stars, and planets came to be. Also, infrared light pierces through layers of dust that can hide objects in space, allowing the Webb, with its cutting edge technology, to see the objects that are hidden. This proves we can use EMR to see things that can t be seen because the universe is expanding, and visible light stretches as it travels through space, turning it into infrared light. Which makes distant stars and galaxies seem out of sight. Not to mention, Webb s vision will be able to see the flicker of the first galaxies popping into existence in the early universe. It will chart the growth of galaxies from being shapeless masses to being huge spiral shapes that may be home to new planets and solar systems. All of the participants gave answers that aligned with my research on the kind of parenta child needs and what a healthy household consists of. Each contributor believed that love and support, as well as a handful of other qualities leads to a well developed child. The handful of qualities mentioned by informants were: stable, mature, and responsible. Informants believe a parent should be someone who is capable of caring for someone else. No one mentioned a single thing about the sexual orientationrequired to be a good parent; society does not take sexual orientation into consideration when describing who could be a good parent. To contrast what I found in researching to what I found informants had to say, two interviewees depicted gay parenting as not the norm , or not normal in today s society , both from the younger age group, one female and one male. The cameras hadn t been removed from the boxes before the project was suspended indefinitely (neotoday). This was because parents and the community were outraged by the idea of the school being transformed into an invasive, zero privacy zone where kids were constantly being watched. While few people supported security cameras Ken Trump, president of National School Safety and Security Services, believes that the rush to install these systems [are] extremely expensive and sophisticated and should not be bought because it s unnecessary and the money could instead benefit children through other educational resources. Accordingly, a math teacher at Belleville Middle School in New Jersey and president of the Belleville Education Association named, Mike Mignone, told the board members that the money could have been spent on tools and technology that actually improve our students education . Likewise, many parents and teachers would argue the same and would oppose security cameras. • 23. The Urinary Tract Infection ( Uti ) A Urinary tract infection (UTI) including the bladder and kidneys, is an infection that encompasses the entire urinary system. The kidneys and bladder filter the blood to make Urine. A urinary catheter is a thin tube placed in the bladder to drain urine. Urine drains through the tube into a bag where the urinecollects. When the whole system is compromised, a patient can become very ill. A catheterprovides a link between the outside environment and a usually sterile system. Now that the catheter is in place, microorganisms are no longer removed by normal voiding. Germs do not usually live in the region of the urinary system, but when they are re introduced through the absence of voiding, infection becomes a problem. A urinary catheter may be used when you cannot urinate on your own, to measure the amount of urine you produce, during and after certain types of surgery and during testing of the urinary system. Health care associated infections(HAIs) are an on going issue, specifically the prevention of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Simply put, those with catheters have a higher chance of obtaining a CAUTI than patients who do not. CAUTI is the most frequent type of HAI, and represents as much as 80% of HAIs in hospitals.(The Joint Commission, 2011) This high occurrence of infection in hospitals creates a high concern in patient centered care. It was first detected as early as 1789 when doctors recorded small outbreaks of an odd disease accompanied by fever, paralysis and a tendency to attack children. It wasn t until the summer of 1916, however, that the public began to pay attention. Twenty seven thousand people were paralyzed that summer from polio, with most of the victims being children. This is why the disease was called infantile paralysis, although adults also were stricken by the disease (Smith, An Icon 36 40). The iron lung was a large metal tube built around a bed on which patients had to lie for the duration of their lives (Smith 63 69). Additionally, stricken people were more susceptible to infections like pneumonia which gradually weakened and sometimes killed them. The epidemic appeared to be growing worse each year and it seemed that a miracle would be needed to stop any further death and paralysis. Additionally, an intense orchestra soundtrack, involving either light hearted violins and grave drums to fuel the viewers curiosity, is progressively softened as the characters awake and start practicing their habits, according to the stereotyped lifestyle each of them unconsciously embodies. Therefore, after the credits, a barely distinguishable threesome appears on the top edge of the frame, standing on a corner terrace, as to represent its marginality. • 34. Fate Or Free Will Controls Human Lives Generally, fate refers to the development of events beyond a person s control (Aurobindo). As such, a fatalist is a person who believes that whatever happens is, and always was, unavoidable. Moreover, such a person strongly believes that he or she has no control over what happens the next moment, tomorrow, next year, or several years to come. Free will, on the other hand, is formed by the power of sanction (Aurobindo). In other words, it is consent by the spirit that it shall not be bound but that its enjoyment should be bound by time, space, and causality and by the swabhava and the dharma (Aurobindo). To determine whether fate or free will controls human lives, it is important to objectively analyse, synthesizes, and respond to the critical conversation that the authors of class readings seem to be engaging with regard to this subject. In connection to this, humanity has been fascinated by fate and free will for a long time. Some philosophers in the Ancient Greek and the Middle Ages believed that free will influenced human destiny while others believed that fate was responsible for what befell mankind. The theme of fate conspicuously permeates Homer s famous poem, Ilad, from the first to the last sentence. In this regard, fate but not free will defines consciousness in the Trojan War. Although everybody ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Black power is a movement lead by Stokely Carmichael which promoted the idea of black empowerment and creating a community where blacks feel comfortable in. It implies self determination and self motivation. This means blacks should not rely on white authority to fix racial issues but rather take matters into their own hands. It is a call for blacks to define their own goals. This was not only meant as freedom from white authority but also as economical and political independence. In this way Black Power was taking control of the future of blacks in both economical and political ways and establishing a community in which they will not have to suffer living as second class citizens. • 43. Empty Hands Summary Empty Hands is the memoir of Sister Abegail Ntleko, and it is a great story of how hard work and determination can help anyone make their dreams come true no matter the difficulty. Ntleko had a rather humble beginning. She grew up without much money in a community where education for young girls was not common or deemed necessary. Young girls were raised caring for the household and were expected to be married off at a young age to do the exact same thing for the rest of their lives. Her father had the same mindset, and it took years and a meeting with the community chief for him to allow her to enter the first grade at age 14. Because Ntleko s mother was no longer with her, members of the village would often visit her and help her with things she needed. Mrs. Mckechnie was one of them who made a lasting impact on Abegail. She encouraged her to get education, and that is what she went on to do. After elementary school, she could no longer afford the requirements, so she ran away to work for a family, and it wasn t until she had enough money saved up to afford schooling that she returned home. With the helpof Mrs. Mckechnie, she was able to complete high school and even nursing school. After becoming a certified nurse, Ntleko was bringing in steady income and began adopting children in need. She also began acquiring different certifications such as psychology and ophthalmology that would later help her be of service to various different communities. Her first community ... However, another interpretation of these items is that the shape of the cone also resembles that of the male flower of date palms, and is held in the right hand of the subject which symbolizes masculinity. The bucket could be interpreted as containing pollen, and thus when the cone is dipped into the bucket held in the feminine hand and sprinkled atop the Sacred Tree, it leads to the conclusion that the apkallu figure is performing an act of fertilization for the land of Ashur. • 47. Theory Of Teaching And Learning Theory of Teaching and Learning Part 1. What I Believe about Teaching and Learning It is my opinion that conventional teaching strategies cannot meet the requirements of the classroom environment. First, the classroom environment has been culturally diversified. Second, not all students have similar capabilities or work at the same rate even if they are of the same age. Third, each student has their own learning style. In addition, some students do not react well to the conventional strategies of teaching and, as a result, there is a lack of learning (Heimlich Norland, 2002, p. 18). A Constructivist teaching environment affords more opportunties for both teachers and students, and makes learning more efficient and effective. The Montessori teaching technique is one of the best techniques because of its eight fundamental principles (Lillard, 2005, p. 29). These principles include: The premise that cognition and movement are closely interrelated, and that movement can improve cognition and learning in students. It also holds that the process of learning and well being are enhanced when an individual or student has some degree of control over their lives. Individuals learn well when they develop an interest in what they are being taught. The technique also holds that associating learning activities with a certain reward such as monetary rewards and promises for better grades, adversely affects the learning process and negatively motivates the students to learn ... While it is true that all people should be equal irrespective of these factors, there is a need to note that there exist a persistent discriminationof various people. Affirmative actionhas often been poised as the most comprehensive means through which equality can be attained. While much has been hypothesized regarding affirmative action, it is of the essence to note that it mainly connotes to actions and policies that are intended to ensure equality for all people regardless of the differences they exhibit (Bridges 73). We need more freedom for our future and for our safety. This can be done by liberating more contained liberties and by removing those that imprison our freedom. • 50. Philosophical Pessimism In Neutral Tones, By James Hardy Talking about pessimism, it is one aspect that may be found in some literary work, such as poem. Pessimism is a state of mind in which one anticipates undesirable outcomes or believes that the evil or hardships in life outweigh the good or luxuries . The term pessimism is often related to philosophical pessimism. The philosophical pessimistic view of the effect of historical progress tends to be more negative than positive. The philosophical pessimist does not deny that certain areas like science can progress but they deny that this has resulted in an overall improvement of the human condition. In this sense it could be said that the pessimist views history as ironic; while seemingly getting better, it is mostly in fact not improving at all, or getting worse . In Pessimism: Philosophy, Ethic, Spirit, Joshua Foa Dienstag outlines the main propositions shared by most philosophical pessimists as that time is a burden; that the course of history is in some sense ironic; that freedom and happiness are incompatible; and that human existence is absurd . This poem was written in 1867 and it was a part of an anthology called Wessex Poems that published in 1898. Among Hardy s early poems, this one has gotten much praise. The Wessex Poems are marked by a lack of adornment; they are generally gloomy like the countryside that forms the background to most of these poems. The theme in this anthology is disappointment in love and life. As does it applies in Neutral Tones, the theme is about the end of the relationship associated with the scene described, showing Hardy s power of suggesting feelings through an image. These three men inspired the high Renaissance. Florence and Rome hosted the leading artist for that century. I will like to describe a painting of Raphael that caught my attention from reading the textbook; it is called the Marriage of the Virgin. In this painting the artists used linear perspective to create the illusion of space in the far back. He placed the vanishing point of the one point perspective in the doorway of the beautiful painted round house that is symmetrical on both side. The artists created the plaster in different sizes of rectangular shapes in red and cream colors to emphasize on the importance of linear perspective in the painting. If the painting was divided in two parts, the viewer will see that it is symmetric on both sides. There are thirteen figures on each side of the painting with the high priest being the middleman placed in the center of the human drama. He also put the figures in groups that relate to the part they each play in the artwork, this is known as a unified figure group in high... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
