1. Reflection Essay Example
Writing a reflection essay, especially on the topic of "Reflection Essay Example," can be a
challenging task. The difficulty lies not only in the reflective aspect but also in providing a
compelling example that resonates with the reader. Crafting a reflective essay requires
introspection and the ability to express personal thoughts and experiences coherently.
The challenge begins with the need for genuine self-reflection. It's not just about narrating events
or experiences but delving into their significance and impact on personal growth. Finding the
right balance between sharing insights and maintaining a structured essay format is crucial.
Moreover, creating a relatable example for the reader involves selecting experiences that are not
only significant to you but also universally relatable. This requires a careful consideration of the
audience and their potential connections to the narrative.
The difficulty further extends to the writing process itself. Striking a balance between self-
disclosure and maintaining a professional tone can be tricky. It's essential to convey authenticity
without veering into overly personal or informal language. Achieving clarity and coherence while
navigating through the complexities of introspection adds another layer of challenge.
Crafting an engaging introduction and a thought-provoking conclusion is another aspect that
requires attention. The introduction should captivate the reader's interest, while the conclusion
should leave a lasting impression and tie together the reflective journey.
In summary, writing a reflection essay on the topic of "Reflection Essay Example" demands
introspection, the ability to create a universally relatable narrative, and adept writing skills to
maintain a balance between authenticity and professionalism. It's a process that requires time,
effort, and a deep understanding of oneself and the audience.
For those who find this process overwhelming, seeking assistance is an option. There are services

gives the brief introduction about the study and literature review of report. Here
we will discuss the details of literature review with summary of this literature

estimating software size with unified models. Automate the measure from a UML
perspective and the other to add an objective measure of complexity to a standard
measure in COSMIC FFP in order to reach a higher level of confidence with those
measures. So far, it can be concluded that, from UML use cases and Actor Object
sequence diagrams of a system application, the number of messages exchanged
correspond to the number of function points according to the COSMIC FFP
method. The main advantage of this approach to benefit from the UML standard
modeling notation and the training done with software engineers to model the
software with the UML notation 2. Vipin Saxena et al. [2] have proposed the
performance of function point analysis though UML modeling. In software
development, estimation of software size is one of the major activities. Various
types of metrics are available for computation of software size. It is necessary to
check the performance of each metric. Lines of code, objects and function point
analysis are widely used for measurements of software size, cost and schedule of
development. The Function Point (FP) Analysis is one of the most promising
techniques for
3. Intercultural Communication In Hotel Rwanda
The definition of Intercultural communication is a method of communication that
aims to share information across different cultures and social groups. The challenges
that may occur during this type of communication come from misunderstanding
individual s communication from a different culture other than their own. Each
individual from their respective cultureencodes and encodes messages verbally and
non verbally. Many barriers can be put up when trying to initiate intercultural
communication. In this paper, I will discuss the film Hotel Rwanda while examining
the different intercultural barriers and diversity issues that are presented within the
film. Throughout the film, just about all the decisions or action made by a character

His bravery and poise keeps the refugee s safe, but Paul was helpless when the
United Nations withdrew from protecting the area. He pleaded but could not keep
the UN s presence there, but does not give up hope. The privilege and disadvantage
dialectic is established throughout the film, providing the main character with hope
that he can protect the refugees, but also hopelessness when he is abandoned by
allied forces.
The second thing that stood out to me was the dialectic of history past, present, and
future. These ideal shapes the plot of the movie, creating tensions and civil war
between the two battling cultures. The past between the two cultures creates
uneasiness, leading to an unbalance of power and eventually civil war where an
estimated 800,000 people were killed. Hotel Rwanda describes the history between
the two cultures, and how it came to be that the Tutsi had control of the state rather
than the Hutu. The struggles for the Tutsi during the genocide were enormous, and
due to the little aid from other allied states, the cultures were clashing on their own
without help from other states. I believe that this had an effect on the Colonel,
although he did not feel this way. At the moment, he was representing his country,
and he was ashamed of these beliefs. The best strategy for this barrier, I believe, is
becoming other oriented. If there was any consideration for the people of Rwanda, or
if people took the time to emphasize with what was going on, the

The banyan tree grows throughout Cambodia. It may reach a height of over 100
feet, and as it grows, new roots descend from its branches, pushing into the ground
and forming new trunks. The roots grow relentlessly; many of the ancient temples of
Angkor have toppled as these roots have become embedded in the cracks and
crevices between their massive stones. A single tree might have dozens of trunks, and
it is often impossible to tell which is the original.
This is Cambodia today: a thousand intertwined branches, a thousand stories woven
together, a thousand currents of history swirling in different directions. To understand
Cambodia in the present, it is necessary to look at Cambodia in the past. ... Show

The French quickly usurped all but ceremonial powers from the monarch, Norodom.
When he died in 1904, the French passed over his sons and handed the throne to his
brother, Sisowath. Sisowath and his son ruled until 1941, when Norodom Sihanouk
was elevated to power. Sihanouk s coronation, along with the Japanese occupation
during the war, worked to reinforce a sentiment among Cambodians that the region
should be free from outside control. After World War II, Cambodians sought
independence, but France was reluctant to part with its colony. Cambodia was
granted independence within the French Union in 1949. But the French Indochinese
War provided an opportunity for Sihanouk to gain full military control of the country.
In 1953, Cambodia managed to gain their independence in spite of World War II and
the First Indochina War. Their independence was obtained through the political savvy
of King Sihanouk. Wanting to be released from the pressures of the monarchy,
Sihanouk abdicated the throne and became a full time politician.
He started a political faction called the People s Socialist Community (Sangkum

5. A Framework for Diagnosing Competitive Superiority
George S. Day Robin Wensley Assessing Advantage: A Framework for Diagnosing
Competitive Superiority Strategy is about seeking new edges in a market while
slowing the erosion of present advantages. Effective strategy nnoves are grounded in
valid and insightful monitoring of the current competitive position coupled with
evidence that reveals the skiHs and resources affording the most leverage on future
cost and differentiation advantages. Too often the available measures and methods do
not satisfy these requirements. Only a limited set of measures may be used,

They are given meaning in the minds of managers through processes of selective
attention and simplification (Pfeffer and Salancik 1978). Otherwise managers
could not possibly cope with the myriad of trends and events that must be
organized, analyzed for patterns, and acted upon. Managers therefore adopt a
customer focused or competitor centered perspective to help simplify their
environment and decide what information is to be gathered and how it is to be
screened and interpreted. Simplification comes at a cost, which is the risk that
only a partial and biased picture of reality is created. A competitor centered
perspective leads to a preoccupation with costs and controllable activities that can
be compared directly with corresponding activities of close rivals. Customer
focused approaches have the advantage of examining the full range of competitive
choices in light of the customers needs and perceptions of superiority, but lack an
obvious connection to activities and variables that are controlled by management.
Clearly a balance of the two characteristic perspectives is needed. In practice most
businesses tilt in some cases very sharply toward one or the other. A significant
complication in the search for a balanced p erspective is the confusing welter of
overlapping meanings of competitive advantage. Because there is no agreement on
what elements to include or how they are related, information gaps cannot be
identified. We address this
6. Operation Jump Start Case Study
In an attempt to control the influx of illegal immigrants that enter the country, the
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the National Guard (NG) were
partnered to support Operation Jump Start (OJS), an initiative that spanned the
period of 2006 to 2008 to enhance border enforcement along the southwest border
(MOA, 2006, p. 1) of the United States. A memorandum of agreement between the
states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas and the Department of
Defense (DOD) solidified OJS. During that two year period, the CBP would be
responsible for hiring and training additional members to improve border security,
while the NG augmented the CBP. (Straub, 2008). Thus, this operation was a short

Similar to the PCA of 1873, DOD Directive 5525.5 prohibits the following forms of
assistance: (1) interdiction of a vehicle, vessel, aircraft, or other similar activity;
(2) a search or seizure; (3) an arrest, apprehension, stop and frisk, or similar activity;
and (4) use of military personnel in the pursuit of individuals, or as undercover
agents, informants, investigators, or interrogators (Mason, 2013, p. 3). Thus, the
National Guard devoted the majority of resources to manning observation posts,
flying alert aircraft, building roads, fences, and vehicle barricades, and fulfilling
administrative functions (i.e., desk duties) (Holstege, 2008). Other forms of
regulation include the regional rules for the use of force (RUF) included in the
OJS memorandum of agreement, which details the level of force authorized,
arming orders, and weapon limitations (MOA, 2006). A specification in JP 3 28
states National Guardsmen under Title 32 or state active duty title will be issued a
RUF card and briefed on the applicable state RUF prior to deployment (Joint Chiefs
of Staff, 2013, p. 47).

7. Rebel Without A Cause, And The Caher In The Rye
According to Merriam Webster, isolation is defined as to set apart from others .
The novel, The Catcher in the Rye and the film, Rebel Without a Cause show how
isolation affected certain characters. In The Caher in the Rye, Holden is isolated
from the community around him. In Rebel Without a Cause, Plato is also isolated,
he doesn t have a relationship with anyone at his school or home. Holden and Plato
are similar in the way that they both struggle with isolation because they cannot
make a connection or relate to other. However, Holden s isolation stems from
superiority, while Plato s isolations stems from an inferiority complex. Holden
shows many instances of isolation throughout the book because he thinks that he
is superior to everyone. When Holden was at Ernie s he was listening to Ernie
playing the piano and he started to complain about how pathetic it was the Ernie
was playing the piano for a crowd. Anyway, when he was finished, and everybody
was clapping their heads off, old Ernie turned around on his stool and gave this
very phony, humble bow. Like as if he was a helluva humble guy... It was very
phony I mean him being such a big snob and all (110). Holden was jealous because
people are drawn to Ernie and like Ernie and aren t drawn to him. Holden
immediately concludes that there is a problem with Ernie, he does that since he
thinks that he is superior to everyone and that everyone else has a problem and not
Holden. Holden s mindset of being superior to everyone

Concepts of Terrorism in Terror in the Mind of God by Juergensmeyer
The reason I picked this book is because I have always been curious about
terrorism. Truthfully, I really didn t expect the book to take the stance it did, which
focused mainly on the religious implications of what influences people to commits
acts of terror. I liked the fact that the book takes new angles in approaching the
search for truth, by focusing on case studies and performing interviews with the
people who have committed terrorist acts. This is like getting the insiders view of
the inner workings and frame of mind people have before, during, and after they have
unswervingly performed the acts of violence.
In the first chapter, Juergensmeyer states, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
in the field of political science from U.C. Berkeley with an emphasis on South Asia
and comparative politics. He has also taken the liberty to study the following
languages, Hindi, Panjabi, Urdu, German, and Latin.
Because of this mastery of multiple languages I feel it has provided him an advantage
on getting insight on the different cultures he has studied since knows the language.
The reason I say this is due to the fact that all languages have different meanings and
innuendoes built that none speakers might not pick up. One example of this in the
English language is sarcasm. Also, it has always been said that little things get
missed through translation, because not all languages translate verbatim with each
other. For this book, he elected the help from several sources. He spent a page and a
half listing out people such as Ehud Sprinzak (Israel), Zaid Abu Amr (Hamas
movement), Warden David Rardin (prison interviews), and many more to that could
be listed. The basic argument that Juergensmeyer makes is that religious terrorism
differs from other kinds of terrorism, and does religion plays the justification role in
introducing terrorism to the evils of the world. At first glance, the wealth of
information, and sources that are presented, such as the one on one interview with
Mike Bray and Rev. Paul Hill. Throughout the book he makes different points
differentiating between political terrorism and religious terrorism. For instance,
9. The Pros And Cons Of Timeshares
Timeshares are one of those ideas that look great on paper. Rather than sinking tens
or hundreds of thousands of dollars into a vacation home, a group of people
collectively own a property and use it on a schedule. The idea is so attractive that
timeshare sales were around $8.6 billion in 2015.
Despite that growth, the industry as a whole is shot through deceptive practices and
outright timeshare fraud. The FTC took action against a timeshare reseller in
December 2016 for allegedly scamming consumers out of $15 million dollars.
In February 2017, consumers were warned about a Georgia based reseller that may
have scammed customers out of $200,000 to as much as $1 million.

Avoiding Timeshare Fraud
The people most likely to fall victim to timeshare fraud are those who find their
timeshare a serious burden. Timeshare maintenance costs, for example, tend to go up
every year and a change in your financial circumstance can make those fees
problematic. Here are some things you can do avoid the scams.
Be Cynical
Almost every timeshare scam works by offering you the thing you want. It s a sad
truth that life rarely provides you the thing you want without demanding a lot of
effort in return. If you get an offer that looks a little too great, assume it is.
Due Diligence

legitimate. Look into the company and the person to make sure they exist. Your state

medication as well as the dose, is given to the correct patient. It is imperative for
hospitals to enforce medication stipulations to ensure that nurses are double checking

Similar results were seen in data collected from thirty eight nurses by conducting
separate interviews to explain the occurrence of faults when giving medications. One
of the simplest tasks that patients entrust their nurse to be performing before
administration of medications is, checking that the medication correlates to the
patient. It is imperative for all nurses to be participating in double checking
medications to ensure it corresponds with the patient. In this study paediatric nurses
participated in interviews to see if nurses are truly checking medications.
Furthermore, home healthcare nurses were studied to verify their perception on
protocol for double checking medications. Lastly, it is apparent that many nurses are
not aware of what protocol is for their work facility. Similarly, in the previous study,
double checking medications is protocol for most if not all healthcare facilities. This
study asked nurses questions about them double checking medications and how often
do they perform it. It seems that not all nurses are on the same page with what
precautions need to be addressed in order to ensure safe drug management. In both
studies nurses were able to confess that many were not certain of the exact
stipulations that needed to be met by their

Isaac s gross motor skills were great when I first arrived at UCC. He was easily
walking and running. He would run to get the balls you threw. It was obviously
easy for him to go over the bridge outside as well as run and cut corners. He seemed
developmentally ahead of his classmates who could not do all of these things. In
the classroom he demonstrated other good gross motor skills. When we came
inside, just cleaned up, or finished an art project everyone was required to wash
their hands. In front of the sink, there was a step a few inches off the ground. It
enabled to kids to reach the running water. Isaac could easily step up when it was
his turn. He would also demonstrate a combination of fine and gross motor skills
when he finished washing his hands. Isaac would hold his paper towel from drying
his hands to throw away and step down. He had indisputable control over what he
was doing. His fine motor skills were excellent as well. He played the xylophone

most of the other kids needed assistance with. He could hold onto balls and throw

hair, but his fingers would not. As the weeks passed by, I could tell a small
difference in week one to the last one in Isaac s size. I had been absent due to
sicknesses so I missed a couple of days. This made it much easier to recognize his
growth. From one Thursday to another two weeks later, Isaac had gotten a little taller
and thinned a little. I can assume a growth spurt happened in this time because of the

13. Injustice Is Unlawful Or Unethical Acts That Are Not...
In The Oresteian Trilogy there is a very apparent theme of injustice throughout the
plays. Injustice is unlawful or unethical acts that are not treated or punished the
correct way. Integrity and fairness are what I believe have the most impact on the
way a person will read and react to injustice. Integrity is the ability to be truthful
and honorable to a set of morals that each person grows up to believe. Making a
decision without having bias towards a side would considered fair. Clarkson, a
prestigious school, is still prone to white supremacy. Being able to teach students
these values, integrity and fairness, would lead to a stop to the racism in the school.
This personally is and will continue to keep me from getting involved in racial
incidents and assist in stopping incidents that I see. Integrity is what every doctor is
expected to have. They must diagnose every patient honestly giving them the correct
information about themselves and their surroundings. There will be the doctor that
is looking for money or in fear of what happens when the truth comes out. Dr.
Richard in The Plague is put to the test of his integrity when both Dr. Rieux and Dr.
Castel come to him telling him it seems like there is a plague spreading. Rather than
telling the public immediately he is afraid of what would happen in reaction to the
plague. While people are questioning the deathly sickness spreading he knows but is
scared of chaos. Giving out such incoherent information the plague

proposed academic reorganization will implement a new college structure‹six
colleges will replace UTSA s current four. The new colleges will consist of the

Bailey attributes the vacancies to the very complex and difficult duties of the division
directors who often deal with competing interests within the division.
Dr. Richard Tangum, architecture, became the latest of a handful of division directors
to be replaced.
In this case, I think the lines of communication between this division director and this
dean had broken down, said Bailey, stressing the importance of communication
between a division director and a dean.
Though the change to smaller departments will not eliminate departmental
miscommunication and competing interests entirely, Bailey said it would help
alleviate problems.
Bailey added that the current vacancies of division directors were one factor that lead
the committee to suggest a department based structure.
Eventually, many departments, such as communication and education, are scheduled
to relocate to the new Academic III Building, proposed to be completed by spring
2003. Concurrently, the department of computer science is scheduled to move to the
new Bioengineering Building set to be completed around the same time as the
Academic III Building.
In addition to restructuring UTSA s colleges, the university is currently searching for
69 tenured and tenure track faculty members, 30 of which will fill new positions.
Though the search for new faculty members is underway, Bailey said typically those
positions will not all be filled because of the
15. Dietary Intake And Psychological Distress
Abstract
Necessary dietary intake is very important during pregnancy; it can affect not only
the mother but also the unborn baby. There are a couple of factors that play a huge
role when the levels are abnormal. Dietary intake and psychological distress are two
major components that make up a healthy pregnancy. In some parts of the world
pregnant women do not get adequate micronutrients and macronutrients. Not only is
this an increasing risk of necessary dietary intake and psychological distress but this
can be the reason why stressors occur in the first place. Not having resources for
pregnant women who are low in social economic status could be the reason why there
are health issues among pregnant women.

Influencing Health Issues Among Pregnant Women During pregnancy, women s
health is crucial to meet nutritional needs. There are many factors that can affect a
pregnancy. Major factors include: stress, diet, health, substance use, psychological
disorder and previous trauma experiences. It is very important during the pregnancy
that the mother is not exposed to any negativity. Any negativity can affect the unborn
baby. There are many stories of previous experiences that have affected the unborn
baby due to a negative environment. The participants stories (Hanghoj, 2013) shared
their experience of risk associated with physical activity. Health issues are commonly

The purpose of this paper is to annotate four sources that I will analyze for my final
research paper. These sources focus on the following items: (a) Comparing Muslim
converts and non converts in the United States, (b) the psychology of radicalization,
(c) the risk of radicalization and terrorism, and (d) how we can combat homegrown
radicalization and terrorism. By analyzing these sources, I will be able to develop in
depth reasoning on this topic and complete the research paper.
Background
Ever since post 9/11 conflicts began and the United States became involved in the
Syrian conflict, several homegrown radicalized terrorist have come extremely close
to succeeding in highly destructive attacks. Currently, there are gaps in understanding
the radicalization of homegrown Muslims in the United States. Therefore, it is
imperative to understand paths towards radicalization through crime prevention
strategies (Kamien, 2012). The sources listed below will aid in the psychological
background of radicalization, and how radicalization happens to homegrown Muslim
converts and non converts (Schumacher, 2011).

17. Ping Sweep And Port Scan Essay
In today s world the criminals come in different forms. One could say we live in the
technological age and this means that threats are not only physical but virtual as well.
Hackers can now steal your personal information from data being sent over
cyberspace. If you are not careful and take necessary precautions then people with ill
intent and computerintelligence can make your life miserable. Two ways hackers
can accomplish this are called ping sweeps and port scans. A ping sweep is a
simple scanning technique used to determine which of a range of specific IP
addresses connect to what device. In contrast, a single ping will tell you whether one

A port scan can be used for benign reasons as they are tool for network
administrators to see what services are running on the machine. The scan sends a
signal to each port one at a time and depending on the type of response the port is
deemed open or closed. A port scan is a method used by intruders to discover the
services running on a target machine. It allows the attacked to see which ports are
more vulnerable than others. It is equivalent to a burglar or thief canvassing a
whole neighborhood to see which houses are less protected and more vulnerable.
There are ways to defend yourselves from this type of attack but it requires one to
assume that you are vulnerable completely. No one machine on a network is
completely safe from an intruder. There are numerous products that can help protect
you from these types of intrusions but simply turning your unused services off can
be the biggest step toward securing your ports. For example, in a Windows XP
platform you would click on start, then run, type services.msc without the quotes,
and click ok. After that a list of services will appear (Facts, 2014). Then you would
choose which services to disable and you re

Conversely, The Flavr Savour tomato possesses supressed activity of the enzyme
polygalacturonase. The suppression contributes to the fruits ability to stay harder
for longer allowing it to stay on the vine. This suppression allows the tomato to
develop its natural flavours and ripen as it stays on the vine for a longer time
period. This flavour saving process lead to the products name The Flavr Savr .
The Flavr Savr tomato is created through the use of antisense gene technologies to
decrease the polygalacturonase activity. The kan(r) is a gene from the bacteria
Escherichia coli, alongside with the gene from the Flavr Savr tomato they are
inserted into a plasmid that resembles a round ring of DNA. These plasmids are
further inserted into a group of normal tomato cells in a medium growth that
contains the kanamycin antibiotic Engel 7. This process produces the APH (3 ) II
substance that allows the cell to become resistant to the antibiotic. This process is
used to identify the genetically transformed genes. The gene of the Flavr Savr
initially coded for a strand of RNA, which was the reverse strand of RNA that
occurs in a natural tomato plant. The original RNA strand contains the enzyme
polygalacturonase degrading the cell wall, making the fruit soft. The RNA strand
made from the Flavr Savr gene binds to the polygalacturonase RNA in a process to
cancel each other out as demonstrated in figure 1.

Arms, Ernest Hemingway traverses into Frederic s stream of consciousnessin order to

development throughout the novel is mirrored by a progression in his attachment
to Catherine. Through foreshadowing and streams of consciousness, Hemingway

young man to a weathered soul that has suffered life s greatest agonies is a result of
his loss in love and war.
At the beginning of the novel, Frederic is an independent, yet naive, soldier lacking
direction in life and passion for the war:
I had gone to no place where the roads were frozen and hard as iron, where it was
clear cold and dry and the snow was dry and powdery and hare tracks in the snow...I

20. The Importance Of Confidential Health Care
Writing with Sources: The subject that I have chosen to write about is if teenagers
should have the right to confidential healthcare and the right to make their own
medical decisions? While using the Palomar College databases I found three
different sources that I can incorporate into my essay, which are the following
Confidential Health Care for Teens Is Good Policy , When are we mature enough
to make life or death decisions about our body? , and Parents Have the Right to
Oversee Their Children s Health Care . Confidential Health Care for Teens Is Good
Policy: The author, Scott J. Spear, starts of by providing the audience with some
background information on the subject, such as how people are divided about this
issue. He then moves on
21. Race Issues Of The United States
Race issues in the United States have plagued our country ever since our inception
as a nation. Racism has fueled division, rioting, feuding, debate, and worst of all
Civil War. Race issues have altered the way people work and the jobs that they are
hired for. Race has also been a contributor to the rate for which one is paid. Racehas
also contributed to policies that support Law enforcement and or minorities. Some
of these cases were; Brown vs. Board of Education (1954), the Court prohibited
racial segregation in public schools. Loving vs. Virginia (1967), this decision holds
that state laws prohibiting inter racial marriage are unconstitutional. Another
example, the Court found that a city school failure to provide English language
instruction to students of Chinese ancestry to be considered unlawful
discrimination in Lau vs. Nichols (1973). The University of California Regents vs.
Bakke (1978), the Court decides that a public university may take race into account
as a factor in admissions decisions. The decision holds that a state denies an African
American defendant equal protection when it puts him on trial before a jury from
which members of his race have been purposefully excluded was in Batson vs.
Kentucky (1986). Then a final example, Grutter vs. Bollinger (2003), In this case, the
Court finds that a law school s limited affirmative action use of race in admissions is
constitutional. Because of racismwe have also seen where we now have sub cultures
in secret
22. What Is Unrestricted Moral Relativism
In this essay I will argue that unrestricted moral relativism is incorrect because of
the objection that our moral judgments is not just based on our culture or history. I
believe that our moral judgments are based on who we choose to be. If this theory
was true. This means that you are stuck with cultural morals for the rest of our lives.
Yet a lot of people move to different places with different cultures. They start to
adopt to new morals, and new way of thinking of what is right or wrong.
Moral relativism states that our moral judgments are based on our culture. There are
no standpoint that is uniquely privileged over all others. The main idea about this
theory is that different cultures have different moral values, so there are no universal
23. The Outsider Identity Of Society
In our world, almost everyone can be grouped as either an outsider or an insider;
they may lose insider status, but one s society makes it nearly impossible to lose
outsider status. This theme is represented in Nathanial Hawthorns novel, The
Scarlet Letter, as well as the articles, The First White President, by Ta Nehesi
Coates, and American Schools Are Failing Nonconformist Kids, Here s How by
Elizabeth Weil. Some may disagree with the idea that culture reinforces one s stutus,
as shown in Weil s article s support of the idea that society could change the
struggling students state of being an outsider. In reality, one s status is directly
caused by their society, for example in The Scarlet Letter, Hester is demoted to the
outside when she violates the strict Puritandoctrine, which prohibits adultery.
Similarly, Coate s article tells that his society s support of the white supremacist
leader, President Donald Trump, is a major contribution to African American s
permanent outsider status. In all, as shown in these sources, it can be seen that the
zeitgeist of the people in a particular period has a profound effect on people s
classification as an insider or an outsider. The article American Schools Are Failing
Nonconformist Kids, Here s How, goes against the claim that society is the main
culprit in distinguishing an outsider from an insider, by putting the blame on the
education system. In her article, Weil provides many examples on how, were it not
for the schools
24. Sound Of Music Essay
The Sound of Music
Can you imagine that it has been 50 years since the classic and heartwarming
movie The Sound of Music was released? It is most meaningful for me because
when the movie came out in movie theaters on March 2, 1965 I was 8 years old
and my dad took me to see this movie. Two years later the movie was again in
theaters, I have just forgotten what holiday time it was released for, and this time I
went with my mom and my dad had passed away. Here are some interesting and
perhaps unknown facts about The Sound of Music .
Rights to the movie
The real Maria Von Trappwrote her book about her life The Story of the Trapp
Family Singers and it was published in 1949. The Trapp Family ran into monetary
problems in 1955 and Maria sold the rights to German movie producer Wolfgang
Reinhardt for a mere $9,000. However we must consider the fact that in those days
this amount of money was worth a whole lot more than it would be in today s
terms. What I do find amazing is that Maria and the Von Trapp family never got any
royalties from the two German movies that were released based on their life nor did
they receive anything from the Broadway production of The Sound of Music which
ran for over three years or from the movie, which brought in about $300 million.
Now surely they should have received a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Broadway version at the Lundt Fontaine Theater in New York City starred
Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel. Since this musical proved to be a big hit 20th
Century Fox bought the movie rights for $1.25 million. The reason that the movie
was almost not made was that the making of the movie Cleopatra put such a drain
on studio reserves that for some time Fox shut down. When Richard Zanuck took
over the production of Fox studios this film was once again put up for consideration.
It would have been such a shame if it had never seen the light of day.

26. The Role Of Changing Perceptions In The Film Radiance
Change is an indispensable and necessary part of life. As we continue to progress
through life, we continue to change both physically and emotionally. Time and
experience allows us to change our attitudes and perceptions of basically everything
around us.
By changing our perceptions we can change the way we view the world, as often it is
not the world around us that needs to change but rather how we view it. This is an
integral concept in the film Radiance. Throughout the film, the characters
perceptions change as they begin to reconsider events, people and ideas from
different points of view. As the film progresses, the viewer is given the opportunity
to adapt to the varying perspectives of Nona (No nah), Cressy and Mae. Through
this, the audience is able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An assortment of events occur all throughout the novel which impact the characters
lives and change their points of view. A prime example of such a character in the
novel, is Josephine Alibrandi. Josie is a seventeen year old scholarship student
struggling through her п¬Ѓnal year at a wealthy girls catholic school. This is the year
her father comes back into her life and the year she discovers the secrets of her
family s past. Throughout the year, many events occur that change Josie s
personality and attitude towards the world. She matures from being a very tenacious
and impatient girl to a more responsible and experienced character. This is evident
through her shift in attitude towards her father, Michael Andretti. The changing
nature of their father/ daughter relationship may be easily derived from their
dialogue. Initially, even before meeting her father Josie resents him. She states I d
rather die than meet my father . She feels that he abandoned her mother while she
was pregnant and that there is no point in him coming back after disappearing for
seventeen years of their lives. The feeling of anger she has towards him increases,
and she

28. The World Of World War 2
World War 2 was one of the most catastrophic events in human history. With
millions dying in very few years, the destruction has left a scar on nations that is
still visible in the present day. One of the most terrifying nations back during the
days of war was Japan. Their culture promoted war, fighting, and being as ruthless
as possible, causing them to be an extreme threat to world peace. The military
looked into ancient myths about the Japanese, and the Emperor in particular, as
they were said to be directly related to the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu Omikami. The
nation and military of Japan wanted to bring racial and spiritual purity into the
world, and as Laurence Rees put it, The Japanese had been brainwashed for
centuries . The war in the Japanese front took longer to end, and many speculate
that if the United States had not created the atom bomb, the war in Asia would
have lasted many more years. The answers for this prolongation is rooted deep in
Japanese culture and history. There are many strange examples and acts from the
Japanese military during World War 2. For example, not a single soldier would ever
surrender as POW. Due to rules by the military and the indoctrination of beliefs,
soldiers would refuse to accept defeat. This had roots in the government as well, and
the Emperor of Japan along with the rest of the government refused surrender even
when defeat was apparent. The interpretation of Japanese social, military, and
historical culture caused individual
29. Taken Conventions
Taken (Pierre Morel, 2008), as a film considered to be under the action genre,
incorporates elements into the plot that are considered to be defining traits of action
films. However, the film also uses certain elements in various ways, so that Taken is
also not a typical action film in many ways. Overall, Takenis largely a progressive
action film, which deviates from many generic conventions in typical action films.
However, different aspects of the film can be considered either status quo or
progressive , depending on the characteristics that are analyzed and considered. For
the purposes of this paper, three specific dimensions will be considered in how Taken
fits into, or diverges from, the action genre: characterization of race/ethnicity,... Show

Instead, his character prefers to think through steps in a logical manner to solve
problems. A good example is when he arrives in Paris, and instead of frantically
looking through the apartment where his daughter was kidnapped, he slowly and
methodically retraces what must have happened when she was taken (through
mental flashback images, with action), similar to examining a crime scene. This
scene could then be interpreted as recognizing that violence is there in the film, but
elsewhere, while Bryan takes an calm, thoughtful approach in line with his
character. Another example would be when Bryan is on the phone with Kim
before she was about to be taken hostage. While the scene was frantic on her end of
the conversation, Bryan did not panic, and actually told Kim that she would be
taken. Again, while most action films would most likely have the main character
panicking and rushing to action, Bryan seems to thoughtfully think out each step,
and does not lose his cool. This is a good example of how the character of Bryan,
and the film more generally, do not engage in spectacle for the sake of it, but take a
collected approach toward events that could potentially lead to
30. Investigating The Suitability Of Different Sources Of
Finance
3.0 Investigate the suitability of different sources of finance to facilitate Par Foods
Ltd. s short term objectives.
3.1 Sources of finance
There are two main sources of finance that Pars food LTD could consider as options
to keep the company viable and moving forward. These are internal and external
sources. Internal sources include selling assets, wages and retained profit. The
external sources can be long and short term. Long term sources are owner investments
and debentures. Whereas short term sources of finance can be things such as
overdrafts, trade credits or leasing. (Business Finance Guide, n.d.).
3.2 Applying financial sources to Pars short term objectives
Pars Food have many short term goals and they will need new funding in most of
these. This is due to them only being in a satisfactory position and having a low net
profit. The poor state of the company means that internal sources of finance should
be kept to a minimum as they don t have enough of their own money to put back
into the business and they also don t want to be selling assets as they would like to
be buying new ones. This means they will have to use external sources of finance
whether they be long term or short term.
For Pars short term objectives that could be achieved from new sources of finance a
bank loan would seem to be the way to go to purchase the Twister cutting machine
that will cost ВЈ300,000. A bank loans money to a business based on the value of the
business and its perceived ability

The deep red blood coiled through my hands like snakes, ever changing, ever

One could have called me mad, if her death was so traumatic as for me to not be able

Within a few days the scratching on the door of the basement and the loud
whimpering from it had ceased, and the last hound had fallen victim to the terrible
sickness one calls living. The dark, black door easily slid open with the slightest
push of my cold hands. The three hound lay silently by the door, deep bloody cuts

the deep wound stabbing through her back and out her chest.
Her body was soaked in crimson, like the deep, red petals of an autumn rose.

33. Agatha Christie Rationale
LING292 Assignment 3: Part 3 Rationale
The intended audience for my publication are fans of Agatha Christie, old and new
as stated in the subtitle of the publication. There are some posts that are aimed
more towards newer fans, such as Poirot Reading Order for fans who want to know
where to start reading her Poirot stories, or to make sure they don t read a book that
spoils another book they have not yet read.
I chose an article on Agatha Christie herself, The Secrets of Agatha Christie by John
Curran, as I imagine readers would be interested in her and why she was
successful. The movie review on Murder on the Orient Express by Leigh Paatsch
was a relevant choice as the film has released in theatres recently so I looked for a
mostly positive review for the publication. And I chose the novel recipe by Kate
Young as a fun and interesting post, perhaps for the bigger Christie fans who knew
every detail of her books, or just for fans who wanted to try a bit of cooking.
I edited the directions of the recipe so that it was easier to understand and follow
since I imagined the audience were probably not dedicated chefs. I divided them
into much smaller steps and categorised the steps for legibility and ease of reading
on the screen. For example, Making the Ice Cream became its own heading. Because
this is a publication on the internet, I also envisaged a more international audience
and I edited the material to suit this purpose. Cling film is used in the UK, so I

and measurable goal, which is the core of SFT. I believe I remained warm and
friendly while trying to stay positive and supportive. I was able to stay open
minded and flexible when helping the family search for solutions by listening for
previous solutions and exceptions embedded in the family s problem talk. I also
remained resolute and patient with the family in order to continue to build on the
therapeutic alliance. 8. What would you do to improve the critical incident if you
were to do it again? I know this may sound like a cop out, but I thought the session
went really well and would not change much if anything. I do wish I worked better
with my co therapist and allowed for her input more. SFT enables a counselor to
allow the clients to discover their own workable solutions without seeking deeper
meaning. It is very client centered and non directive and I believe I acted as a good
coach and supporter during the session. I believe the clients felt heard and supportive
during the session and left
35. The Photographer and His Camera Essay
The Photographer and His Camera
Since the invention of the camera in 1839, photography has transformed the entire
nature of art in that it brought about a great revolution of the traditional arts, pushing
it from depictions of a world we already knew to expressions of inward gestures and
creativity. Photography conveniently replaced with images the words that were once
essential to describing a visual. These images are in fact very different in nature from
the continuous action of television, as well as the timeless sculpture. Abolishing the
concept of time and space, the technology of the photo is thus fabricated by the
desire to give permanence to daily feelings and experience. The photograph ... Show

Because man and machine are inseparable, the influences of art and technology run
toward convergence. Rudolph Serkin, a concert pianist, when asked who he
performed for, himself, the audience, or the dead composer, answered, none of them,
he performed solely for the piano. In a world where mankind and technology are so
dependent on each other, the photographer photographs exclusively for his camera,
not himself or what is in front. He is, in turn, the mass produced message.
The possibility of seeing the photographer s work as completely neutral or
aesthetically intriguing is basically non existent. There is no essential difference
between photography as documentation and photography as artwork. By definition,
photography is printing positives chemically from negatives to yield an exact
duplication; but through the lens of a camera, all objects, including people, are
unnaturally fixed. It is undeniable that the photographer creates with the intention to
sell and prostitute. Thus, he supports the desire to multiply the human image to
proportions of mass produced merchandise, just as the piano supports the mass
production of recorded pieces with its pianist. The photographer is perhaps the
subliminal message in his photographs because he simultaneously sells

answered with great caution including details about what had happened that dreadful
night, although it did not seem like he nor the large audience believed me.
As I returned to my seat, the man stayed on the floor and stated, A good dog is like

37. Macbeth And A Midsummer Night s Dream Analysis
Through the many different dynamics that have happened throughout both of these
films Macbeth and A Midsummer Night s Dream, both of them have had very
different type of dynamics with different characters. When I watched Macbeth and
A Midsummer Night s Dream, I found one relationship for each of the films. Most
dynamics are provoked by the antagonist s reactions but they aren t really shown. I
will be comparing the dynamics in both of the relationships of the two different
films as well as the dramatic means by which they are being established by.
Throughout the two films there will be differences in both but there will also be
similarities for the dramatic means which are being stated. As for the dramatic means
that they are being established by, is the way they show how their disagreement and
which is the reason that caused it to happen. Therefor the rest of relationships that are
happening do happen to have an impact to the two relationships that I will be talking
about. This being the case, the two relationships I wanted to talk about was Macbeth
and Lady Macbethfrom the film Macbeth and from A Midsummer Night s Dream I
will be talking about Lysander and Helena. As Macbeth meets up with the three
witches, they begin to talk to him and one of the witches predicts that he will be king.
At the beginning, Macbeth would respect King Duncan and because he had thought
he was going to be King according to the witches. He thought, if he killed King

Adoption is not the only possible option because there s other things that foster
kids are needed. Donation is one of the things that we can offer, these children
needs supplies for their daily neccesities and your donation would help to provide
it to them. You can also be a respite care provider especially to those families who
ve been struggling in their lives and need some break time or just need some help
to get back on track that help not only gonna give them a chance to get back on
track but it could also avoid children sending to the foster care because their parents
couldn t take the pressure that life is giving them. And another thing if money is
something you cant offer right now and you are not comfortable to try to provide
respite care then mentoring could be your viable option, guidance and support are
some of the biggest thing that is missing in these children life and your mentoring
could give them some hope and encouragement to not give up to their dreams.
Helping children in foster care doesn t limit you to adopting, you can always use
your time, money, skills and education whichever you are comfortable giving even
just a word of the mouth would make a big impact as well if we work together and
cooperate in this activities we could not only give them what they need but we can

Introduction: Exercise is a physical activity or particular movement that is used in
order to become healthier and stronger. (1) Exercise, in all of its forms, has various
effects on the different systems in the human body. One of the main benefits is
cardiovascular health, including circulation and heart health. Exercise uses a lot of
energy, which the cells derive from oxidising glucose. Meaning that the heart has to

For example, many athletes wear fabrics with wicking because it draws the sweat
away from your body and keeps you cooler. Having cooler clothes while exercising
in hot weather is an extremely important factor affecting not only heart rate but
perceived effort. Warmer temperatures cause the heart to beat faster and place
considerable strain on the body. When it is hot, the body must move more blood
to the skin to cool it while also maintaining blood flow to the muscles. The only

the impact of voter suppression has had a staggering effect on the results. While the
numbers are still trickling in, estimates of individuals being blocked by the voter ID
law alone estimate in the millions. It is imperative our society familiarizes itself with
the patterns of voter suppression, so that each case may be prevented in the future.
Open dialogue is critical in this matter, and middle ground must be met. For our
nation to move forward, all parties must be fully informed of the facts. Only then can
