Similarities Between Christianity And Islam
In today s world, the largest religion is Christianity with a 33 percent and Islam
coming in second place at around 21 percent. According to the article A Common
Word between Us and You Both religions make up around half of the population
around the world. Islam and Christianity are collectively known as Abrahamic
religions because they trace their history to the covenant Godmade with Abraham in
the Hebrew Bible. Christianityand Islam are two of the fastest growing religions, and
they both have a lot in common ideas but yet have major differences in their beliefs
and practices. First of all, both of Christianity and Islam religions have a quiet of bit
in similarities.
One example in which both religious have same ideas is that they both believe in
one God. According to Mojzes and Swidler Christianity and Islam are monotheistic
religions; they believe that there is only one God. Jews and Muslims greatly stress
the oneness and unity of God. The affirmation of the oneness of God by Christians is
sometimes misunderstood, because Christians believe that the one God is triune (the
Holy Trinity). However, this is not a denial of monotheism but an affirmation of the
complexity of the Divine Being. Both faiths believe that this God is the origin and
source of all that exists. God cares about the entire creation and desires the well being
of all. God is just and has provided basic roles for our guidance so that we might be
good and righteous, according to God s

An Act Of Favoritism In The Grapes Of Wrath
Another act done out of favoritism was when Kerman requested a job transfer and
got results. All of the women in the camp who worked in the electricity department
had to deal with Desimon. None of the women liked him because he was verbally
abusive and did not treat them with much respect. Kerman had an incident with
Desimon where she felt harassed and could not stand working with him anymore.
She brought this issue to Desimon s boss who quickly replied with I ll switch you
out of there immediately (Kerman 174). One can conclude that it was not the first
time Desimon was reported by one of the inmate s because of the fact that he was
not well liked. Also instead of dismissing Desimon to avoid such incidents with the
other women, his boss places Kerman in a different department. Working with
Desimon would have made Kerman s life in prison harder than it already was, this
was a favor because he also could have denied Kerman s transfer leaving her to deal

not have that opportunity with Desimon. Would he have done it for just any of the
inmates? It is highly doubtful because his job would be on the line if one of them
actually decided to jump in the lake. The fact that Kerman looked like a nice

The Morphology Of Hmong
Hmong is a Miao Yiao language spoken primarily in Southern China, Thailand and
Laos. According to Ethnologue.com, there are over 5.7 million people who speak
the language all around the world. Over 95,000 Hmong people have settled in the
United States. Hmong is monosyllabic and tonal language. This means that it
consists primarily of one syllable words where the tone of a word affects the
meaning. The Hmong dialect is branched from the Chuanqiandian dialect into two
separate ones; known as Njua green and Daw white. Hmong is closely related to
the Miao language spoken in Southern China. However, it is not too known because
various people living in these areas gradually adopted phrases and words from other
cultures, to produce a whole new way of speaking.

Importance Of Public Monuments
Public monuments, by contrast, offer an anachronistic experience: a face to face
encounter in a specially valued place set aside for collective gathering (Source A).
Public monuments provide an escape, or a memory, to people who are willing to sink
their teeth into the rich history they provide. More importantly, memorializing has
been apart of humanity since the beginning of time, and we use it to praise people or
events of importance, as well as events that hold great sorrow. Along with the
importance and values that commemorate memorials, comes immense preparation
and planning when building a monument. Therefore, it is important that three main
factors from sources E, G, and C, are taken into consideration when attempting to
build a memorial.
Initially, location is the most detrimental factor when planning a memorial. The
location should not only please the people of the area, but also correspond to the
location of what it is memorializing, as well as cause no harm to the artificial or
organic structures in the area. However, some may reject memorials in certain
locations because of harmful memories they may evoke. While some may feel this
way, most can accept the fact that a memorial is a beneficial way to remember an
event, whether it s joyful or glum. A clear example in source E states, The
controversy grew from Jewish and non Jewish communities, primarily due to the fact
that a museum dedicated to the memory of the Holocaust would be built in the

For the past 30 years, violence had increase against women within abusive
relationships, why women stay and endure the pain and why they relinquish violence.
Women who are being battered share certain observable characteristics. Speaking with

In 1970 a support group concerning abused and battered women joined forces with
other women s group in order to suppress the ongoing abuse to women and create
programs such as sexual assault centres, counselling, and victim service, to help
overcome the stress of the abused victims as well as prevent such disgraceful
demeanour (Artega,2016). These programs was created a decade ago, and still
abuse victim cases seemed to be ongoing in society and the victims are even

psychological factors that let women endure physical violence ,as well as determine

Moral Code And Standards For Improving Individual
Behavior
I grew up without a mother and father and did not have moral principles instilled in
me to help develop my moral code and standards for maximizing my utility in life.
For example, some children are taught to show respect to parents, teachers, and elders.
Respecting parents, teachers, elders, and other people within society can help to
enhance relationships. The better the relationship, the better coexistence between
people. Good moral principles allows a person to make the right decisions and
improve their interactions with other people. These principles can help in improving
individual behavior, inspiring respect, and enriching relationships of others.

This appears to make perfect sense for most, but the Marines stress the 75%
solution to help rapidly make decisions. In other words, you are to do your best to
gather as much information as you can until you have approximately seventy five
percent of the data and facts. Then, use your knowledge, skill, and perception to
fill in the remaining twenty five percent. The Marines view is that it is always
better to make a decision and execute aggressively with partial information, than it
is to wait and make a perfect decision that may be too late and lead to undesirable
results. You are taught to rapidly estimate a situation and make a solid decision
based on that estimation. There is no room for reluctance to make a decision. If
there is reluctance, then you revise it. The rapid decision making process has taught
me to not be afraid to make a decision and learn from my mistakes and to respect the
leader who corrects mistakes immediately and owns up to it.
The second principle that I acquired from the Marines was the spirit of determination
and commitment. In the Marines, you will endure and sacrifice for your fellow Marine
. It certainly was not fun to work your butt off to only pay for someone else s
mistake. It is easy to complain, but instead, you go help the weaker Marine in your
unit and teach them how to become faster and grow stronger. Marines that complain
are thinking about themselves and their own welfare. As a Marine, you are

Persuasive Essay On School Vouchers
The subject of school vouchers has been an enduring discussion that is currently
being argued in spaces from the local school board meetings to the highest courts in
some states. The school voucher initiative properly known as the school choice
initiatives, it s one that allow parents and students to choose the educational option or
school that is best for them whether it is private or public. The initiative program
provides parents and students with certificates that are accepted by the private school
to pay for the learning place of the holder s choice, rather than the funds go to the
public school to which they are assigned. As citizens of the United States we enjoy
choices and time and again look upon this as rather a positive thing for a citizen of
the United States. Being allowed to choose a school of your choice may sound like
a sensible initiative on the surface, but when you take a closer look beyond the
surface one see serious issues. School choice, though it seems reasonable on the
surface turns out to not only be a bad idea; it violates of our US Constitution. With
the numerous challenges facing public schools, it s understandable why many people
would be enthusiastic to pursue new paths in education.
Devotees of school choice point out that under the current public school system,
parents with economic means already exercise school choice by moving from areas
with failing or dangerous schools to neighborhoods with better, safer schools. Their
argument is that

I think that this subject should be followed up on in three different ways. First, it
is vital to on the whole look at and analyze the public opinion surrounding other
wars for it is not enough to base an entire theory on two wars. Second, I feel that a
special focus should be placed on the Vietnam war not only because of its
controversial status but also because it represented a shift in the public s access to

never before seen ways. Even more so, it has been a time period where there have
been very unclear and muddy justifications for entering conflicts which I feel may
potentially change how the public forms their opinions. That being said I do feel

many victims assume that their commitment to the relationship is more valuable

Linda Bond Edwards On Bullying Summary
Start Here: Linda Bond Edwards is an attorney that works with employers regarding
employment and labor issues. Edwards focused the majority of her lecture on
workplace bullying and its impact on organizations.
She gave some examples of what workplace bullying is and I was very shocked to
find that it is not illegal. She made the point though that organizations are really
starting to put policies in place that prevents bullying and stopping it when it
happens. Her stance was that it is better left in the organizations hands than in
courtrooms due to the lawsuits that it could lead to. The one thing I learned was
that bullying is not illegal, just unethical. Depending on the organization, some
may actually approve of bullying, but with the growing prevalence of bullying
prevention in schools, government offices, and other private institutions top
managers of many organizations are putting policies into place to prevent
bullying. One take away that I have is that I may unintentionally be a bully
because of my type A personality. This was very disturbing as I do not see myself
as a bully, but that could have been a generalization on Edward s part. I do want to

factors are considered in determining the market structure of a particular industry
Market structure refers to the important features that determine the level of
competition in an industry. These factors include (a) the number of buyers and
sellers, (b) the products degree of uniformity, (c) the ease with which new firms enter
or old firms exit the market, and (d) the ways in which firms in the industry compete

If market demand increases, price is bid up and economic profits are made in the
short run. These economic profits attract new firms to the market, and existing firms
may expand. But to produce their output, firms need resources. If the total demand
for resources increases significantly, resource prices are bid up for each firm in the
industry. This causes an upward shift of the average total cost curve, consistent with a
higher equilibrium price at the point of zero profit. 8.(Perfect Competition and
Efficiency) Define productive efficiency and allocative efficiency. What conditions
must be met to achieve them Productive efficiency occurs when the firm produces its
output at the least possible cost per unit. This requires the firm to produce at the
minimum point of its long run average cost curve. Allocative efficiency occurs when
the goods that are being produced are the ones consumers most prefer. In order to
achieve these efficiencies, firms are required to produce where price (which measures
the consumers marginal valuation of the last unit of the product) equals marginal cost
(which measures the opportunity cost of using resources to produce the last unit).

Amelia Earhart Contributions
Over 100 years ago, when humanity looked for new places to conquer, two men
looked to the skies. Wilbur and Orville Wright built the first working motor airplane,
and after that day, the world took a huge interest in aviation, causing many leading
pioneers and innovators in the aerospace field to emerge, revolutionizing the way we
look at the skies. Amelia Earhartwas one of the first pilots to revolutionize the skies,
and what made her particularly iconic was the fact that she was one of the first
woman to fly. She discovered her love for flight after watching the Royal Flying
Corps train in Toronto, Canada whilst she served as a Red Cross nurse in WWI.
She then had her first airplane ride in December 1920 in California with WWI
pilot Frank Hawks. After this confirmation of her love for aviation, she began
lessons with instructor Neta Snook, another early woman pilot. Amelia did all she
could (taking odd jobs) in order to pay for her lessons and then her first airplane: a
Kinner Airster. She passed her flight test and got her license in December 1921,
and afterwards she set out to define herself as a pioneer in the field of aviation,
becoming the first woman to fly solo 14,000 feet above sea level. Her biggest
accomplishment was flying solo across the Atlantic Ocean, as she was the first
woman to do so. She continued to fly for many years, but then on a flight outside of
the United States, both she and her plane were lost near the Bermuda Triangle, and

Modern Pain Therapies For Pain Management Essay
1 Introduction
Despite all the advances erupting from therapeutic research, current treatments for
pain management remain inadequate. The efficacies of modern pain therapies are
challenged by adverse tolerability profiles, unfavourable side effects, concerns with
long tern use and potential for misuse or abuse (Carven Roberts, 2013). While the
major analgesic medicines on the market today include narcotic (opioids) and non
narcotic analgesics, non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and heat
therapy (Carven Roberts, 2013), engineered biologics are emerging as a promising
approach to reconcile various inadequacies of existing pain therapies, since they can
be manufactured with capacities such as target specificity to minimize unnecessary,
adverse reactivity.
Utilizing recombinant DNA technology, our iGEM team hopes to produce the

Mambalgins have been characterized with a strong potential to be useful in the
treatment of acute and chronic pain, since the mechanism of action for this protein is
independent of the opioid pathway meaning that it likely non addictive by its
properties and is as potent as morphine, without building tolerance (Diochot, Baron,

Throughout both the film and the short story, significant settings help tell the

As an American taxpayer I personally agree with school choice as I studied at a
public school and understand the differences between public and private education.
Parents should be able to use these state issued debit cards to decide which type of
educational institution they want to send their child to. The counterargument to this
is that taxpayers money is going back into the private trust rather than into the public
school institution. School choice means providing this funding for low income
students who live in school zones with lower quality schools. If a family can, with
these state issued cards, send their child to private school, then they should be able to
do so as it provides a great opportunity for advancement. In this regard, school
choice is a vehicle to help improve inner cities and to provide options particularly
for low income families trapped in failing schools (Swaby). However, any person in
charge of the education system, especially the newly appointed Betsy DeVos, should

One thing we take from this ecosystem that is common is fishes according to an
article titled Human Impacts on Marine Environments it states Humans living near

Paper On Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence Do we know the truth of our feelings? If we knew Do we
admit or revealed out to others? we may be those who have not acquired the skill
to disclose their feelings as a result of raising in different cultures or never been
asked about what they like or dislike, and perhaps the loss of a sense of safety also
be a reason that drives us into strong quarrels and conflicts and lack of control over
our emotions. Emotional intelligence is the ability to control and analyze our and
other s emotions to enrich our thoughts, and to give motivation or chill out somebody
without underestimating their feelings and ideas. Emotional intelligence is very
useful, has many benefits and it is necessary in our daily and social life.
Firstly, self awareness or the ability to recognize and understand your emotions, an
important part of emotional intelligence. It s beyond just recognizing your emotions,

The Terrorist Attack on the Twin Towers
When September 11 happened, I was too young to understand the gravity of what
caused it and what the effects were when it happened. When I was growing up, I
started to grasp what happened and understand why certain things about that day
were suspicious. Some people believed that terrorists plotted the entire thing, while
others believed that the government was completely behind it; I on the other hand
was the middle. To this day I believe in evidence, and where there is little or no
evidence, I become skeptical. I know that there were planes hitting the Twin Towers
because there is video evidence proving it, but what happened with World Trade
Center Building 7, the Pennsylvania field crash, and the Pentagon are questionable
because there is no sophisticated evidence to prove that terrorists were behind it.
Why am I not convinced with what the government says about terrorists attacking
the Pentagon? What makes a person doubt what the government tells us, and what
makes people believe in conspiracies when there is not enough evidence or lack
there of? When the Twin Towers were hit, bystanders claimed to have seen a
military plane because it was unmarked and had no windows. In addition to that,
researchers looked at the video evidence of the Twin Towers, and what the
government investigation papers said to understand how it really happened. Steven
Jones of Brigham Young University wrote a research paper about how the Twin
Towers and Building 7 collapsed using the laws of

The marginal or neglected can be seen to refer to individuals, a class or nation, to
ideas that have been marginalised, to neglected forms such as poetry, and to the
marginalised self. Philip Larkin is renowned for his use of the colloquial in his
poetry, and he renews the importance of everyday language and words, that have
been neglected and marginalised in forms of expression. His poems have the tone of
the ordinary day. Through this use of language, he reflects on the loss of identity and
to the neglected state of England due to modernisation and industrialisation. Poetry
itself is a specialist form; however Larkins poetry can be seen as homely and less
dramatic. He brought back poetry as a relevant and accessible medium, as it is... Show

In the fourth stanza, he describes what he feels now (l.18), and the use of mass
images suggests a loss of identity. For example the plural images of the crowd, kids

blandness of businessmen as they contemplate a commercial manoeuvre without
taking account of the possible human consequences. Yet they are still mere grins, and
not people.
Modern industrial images are contrasted with the images of nature, such as the M1

neglecting it. In the third stanza he expresses the fairly naГЇve belief that nature is
stronger and more resilient than man and it will be able to recover. Later in the
poem however, the strength of nature, how the earth will always respond (l.14), is
trapped. The only parts that will be bricked in are the tourist parts (ll.39 40), yet the
reason for the tourism is suggested to be because we will become the first slum of
Europe (l.41). The marginalisation of the importance of the countryside is

The Colossus and Daddy by Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath is one of the greatest poets of all time the queen of confessional poetry.
Her writing is thick with figurative language that cannot be interpreted only one
way. Sylvia Plath herself was complicated, and she struggled with her own personal
hardships up until the day she took her own life. Plath s father passed when she was
only eight, and she struggled with his absence not only though the rest of her
childhood but also into adult hood. Many critics believe her famous poems, such as
The Colossus and Daddy, were confessional poems Sylvia wrote about her father.
Although there are many ties within her poetry to her real father, her writing cannot
only be interpreted this way. Sylvia had many demons she likely tried to tackle or
even understand through her writing her pain channeling through the speaker. The
Colossus, a poem widely believed to stem from her own experiences with death and
depression, is a beautiful poem rich with imagery that exposes the pain of living
forever in the shadows. The literal definition of colossus means large statue. A
colossus can be a statue that represents a deceased person. The Colossus of Rhodes,
one of the seven ancient wonders of the world, was so grand in size it was
considered one of the tallest statues during that time. The speaker of Sylvia s poem
tries to put together a man, whether it be her father or not, to understand him. She
considers him a monument, a colossus, an ancient wonder of the world that holds

Romans Threats To Jewish People Essay
The reasons why the Romans were able to take over Jewish people was their
power, execution, and threats. The Romans were very brutal people which lead to
the suffering of the Jewish people. Army forces for the Romans were good for
them because they had powerful men and more technology equipment. The Jewish
people survived these threats by listening to the Romans and doing whatever they
wished for. Their power and force to make the Jewish people do what the Romans
wanted was the cause of the Jewish diaspora. The Romans were a powerful group
because of their armies which meant the Jewish people could not revolt against them
because the Roman army could try to kill them. After a while the Jewish people
decided to revolt, the first revolt was when the Jewswere trying to fight against the
Romans and ended up losing their second temple. The second temple stood for about

The execution was a big thing for the Roman people because they enjoyed
watching how the pain was affected on the other people. Some Romans did brutal
punishments if they wouldn t die faster, what they would do would be cracking
their hands and knees. If the Jews were not put to this punishment they were also
crucified and the Romans would also break their knees if they wouldn t die faster.
Unfortunately, the Jews that were put to the test we either killed by hunger,
punishments, or even suffocation while being crucified. Not all Jews were kept to
be punished, some were kept to become slaves for the Romans! If the Romans did
not like what they did they would threaten them by kicking them out. Eventually, that
did happen if Jews were not punished or kept as slaves they would have been kicked
out, they would have to move to another home someplace
Anaerobic Respiration Lab Report
1. Describe the differences between aerobic and anaerobic respiration and
fermentation.
Aerobic respiration requires for oxygen to be present in order to create energy,
which it can be done by the chemical of ATP. As for anaerobic respiration it s quite
opposite It doesn t need oxygen to create energy. The alternative they produce energy
is by use of nitrogen, or sulfur. Fermentation comes into action when respiration is
low. This process will only include mostly just carbohydrates with just low levels of
oxygen.
2. Write out the optimal temperature, oxygen, and pH requirements for a
microaerophilic, neutrophilic, mesophilic such as Streptococcus. It doesn t need too
much oxygen in order to create energy. Therefore its microaerophilic because it doesn
t require too much oxygen, so it contains high levels of carbon dioxide (aerotolerant
anaerobe). This microbe survives in human temperature (37 degrees; optimal
temperature), which makes streptococcus mesophilic. The microbe normally resides
within the human body, so it ll adapt to the environment (acidic) of the human body.
3. Describe the process of how bacteria can be identified by their metabolic products
using indicator media.
The bacteria can have variation of reaction in indicator media it just depends what
type of metabolism that bacteria has. If the bacteria is hemophilic then it ll react on
the blood agar (it would appear clear because the bacteria needed to ingest that for
nutrients that blood contains). On the

Bad Debt
3) DISTINCTION BETWEEN BAD DEBT AND PROVISION FOR DOUBTFUL
DEBT
Sales consist of cash and credit sales but sales on credit hold a large proportion in
many businesses. Therefore, the business is facing the problem of bad debt which
will occurs when debtors fail to settle their payment for items sold on credit. A bad
debt is an amount that is written off by the business as a loss to the business and
classified as an expense because the debt owed to the business is unable to be
collected, and all reasonable efforts have been exhausted to collect the amount owed.
(Wizznotes) This situation will occurs when the debtor has declared bankruptcy. The

An entity may not be able to its balances outstanding in respect of certain receivables.
(Accounting Simplified.com). Those receivables refer as Irrecoverable Debts or Bad
Debts in accountancy. For instant, customer going bankrupt, trade dispute or fraud
could cause the bad debts increase.
THE EFFECTS IF A COMPANY DOES NOT ESTIMATE ALLOWANCE FOR
DOUBTFUL DEBT.
Accounting is generally intended to show a correlation between all financial aspects
of business transactions. (Neil Kokemuller). It runs the risk of counting money
earned but not collected when company records revenue from sales paid for with
credit. The likelihood of this risk is adjusted by the bad debt allowance.
Misalignment between revenues earned in one period and the unpaid debt that result
later on would happen due to the failure to use bad debt allowance. Significant cuts to
revenue in later period would happen in the company.
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MATCHING CONCEPT AND THE NEED TO
ESTIMATE UNCOLLECTABLE DEBTORS ACCOUNT.
Estimation of the amount of bad debt is typically based on historical experience,
debit the bad debt expense account and credit provision for doubtful debts account.
This entry should be made in the same period when it bill a customer, so that the all
applicable expenses are matched with the revenues (as per the matching
The Importance Of Mismanagement
Without a budget in place, a nonprofit will be looking at its feet, and will soon find
itself walking into a brick wall. This is clearly not a way to operate any form of
business. In the nonprofit world, this can quickly become a death knell or, minimally,
have your creditors up in arms. Mismanagement can affect future funding, donation
streams, and the adoration of the local foundation that used to love you.
How does a nonprofit ensure it has its vision set for the future? Multiple budgets
capturing different criteria and timelines will provide a readable, functional map.
They will offer useful guidance and benchmarks to ensure you are charting your

Whether based on a percentage of salaries, square footage, revenue, or a combination
of factors, the hidden costs of running a program are still there. Critical software for
the Finance Director includes a budget package, so the agreed upon budget can be
tracked each month. A Profit and Loss Statement with Budget is the preferred route,
as the Program Director will see how close they are to their targeted amount. If they
actually do read and understand the numbers, they will find errors: an expense
belonging to another department, or funding that has not been received as expected.
They will, however, rarely tell you that an $880 program material expense is not
showing up, and may hope no one else notices it.
Grant funding does not always include an allowance for direct overhead or
administrative costs (Renz, 2016). Still, each program must absorb costs of the
overhead. Continuing with the complexity of nonprofit budgeting, building various
revenue streams into a program s budget is a task fraught with peril. Multiple
funding may be provided for one program, or one grant may cover several. This is
when your finance staff will often be seen wearing wigs or headscarves to hide the
missing hair they have yanked out.
Likewise, overhead costs must be planned and budgeted for as well, regardless of
how much of this cost you can successfully apply to program budgets. Review your

Risks of Teenagers Obtaining a Driver s Licence
Most teens look forward to getting a driver s license. But that may change if they
know that they have a much higher risk of having a motor accident than adult
drivers. In the United States, driving accidents are a leading cause of death among
teenagers. These accidents happen mostly in populated cities. This problem has
caused each state to have its own drivinglaws for teens. Although this problem is
already a priority in many states, it should get more attention from the general public,
especially teens. It is important for people to know about driving laws because these
laws can help establish safe driving habits. California laws that attempt to decrease
teen caused auto accidentsinclude establishing a minimum age for passengers of
teenage drivers. In California, a new driver cannot transport anyone who is under
20 years of age unless a licensed adult is also in the vehicle. Another effective law
in California requires teen drivers to have at least 50 hours of supervised driving
during the learner s permit stage. This law is effective because it allows teens to
learn how to drive safely on the road with the help of an experienced driver.
Although some laws are effective, teens are still known to cause accidents. Therefore,
a solution should be proposed to the state governments that will call for a law that
requires teens to take an annual mandatory driving testfor a certain number of years
after obtaining a license.

Zavestoki, Shulman, And Schlosberg s The Unknown Citizen
The main idea in the short story, The Unknown Citizen, is about an overly
controlling government that regulates every aspect of a citizen s lives. Each of the
branches of this government declared this unknown man was a hard worker, nice,

individuality. Much as in The Unknown Citizen, society is leaning towards a too
strong government. The main ideas of this poem reflect a very real society that is
filled with complacent and controlled citizens through the world of the internet. The
individual in the poem made sure to do everything that he was instructed because he

Though it appears that all of the citizens were mindlessly following this Greater

One similarity between How do You Define Yourself and Compassion: Our First

compassion is a learned art that takes practice and dedication. A similarity between
No One Dines Alone and Compassion: Our First Instinct is that they both agree that
compassion is a necessary skill that can be used to improve mental health because
Compassion: Our First Instinct directly stated this and No One Dines Alone says
that one of the students who participated in this says that when he joined the group

when he was in that situation. One way these two sources differ is that they have
different takes on how to show compassion, in No One Dines Alone they find that
the best way to show compassion is to spend time with someone but in Compassion;
Our First Instinct they think that just giving thinks like material objects is the best
way to show compassion. The similarities and differences between the articles
deeper developed my understanding of compassion because they showed me that
there are many different takes on compassion one not right or wrong but all prove

The Maze Runner is the first book of the young adult post apocalyptic science fiction

The story begins when a teenage boy named Thomas, finds himself inside a box
which opens to deliver him to a glade. Thomas and the other boys in the glade
remember nothing except their names. Outside the Glade is the Maze, a labyrinth

while saving Thomas from Gally.
Menho is one of the main characters in the maze runner who is extremely experienced
in running the maze and had successfully mapped it down. He is a very dependable
leader and has a major role in making everyone escape the maze.
Teresa was the only girl who had been sent to the maze and was the last teenager to
be sent. She was extremely intelligent and dedicated. She and Thomas could hear
each other through telepathy. She had found the code of the maze and demonstrated
exceptional leader like qualities. After Teresa arrived in the glade, nothing remained
the same the sun never rose and most importantly the maze didn t shut in the evening
giving way to the grievers to enter the glade and kill everyone.
A very big and confusing irony in the book is that Thomas and Teresa could hear
each other through telepathy though they didn t recognize each others face. They
both got destructive dreams of being a part of the wicked laboratory but were the
ultimate ones to save everybody. James successfully confuses the reader and creates
suspense by introducing new characters who have conflicting and contrasting

work of genius we recognize our own rejected thoughts: they come back to us with
a certain alienated majesty. Great works of art have no more affecting lesson for us
than this. They teach us to abide by our spontaneous impression with good humored
inflexibility then most when the whole cry of voices is on the other side. Else, to
morrow a stranger will say with masterly good sense precisely what we have thought
and felt all the time, and we shall be forced to take with shame our own opinion from
another. (109)

According to the article A Common Word between Us and You Both religions make up around half of the population around the world. Islam and Christianity are collectively known as Abrahamic religions because they trace their history to the covenant Godmade with Abraham in the Hebrew Bible. Christianityand Islam are two of the fastest growing religions, and they both have a lot in common ideas but yet have major differences in their beliefs and practices. First of all, both of Christianity and Islam religions have a quiet of bit in similarities. One example in which both religious have same ideas is that they both believe in one God. According to Mojzes and Swidler Christianity and Islam are monotheistic religions; they believe that there is only one God. Jews and Muslims greatly stress the oneness and unity of God. The affirmation of the oneness of God by Christians is sometimes misunderstood, because Christians believe that the one God is triune (the Holy Trinity). However, this is not a denial of monotheism but an affirmation of the complexity of the Divine Being. Both faiths believe that this God is the origin and source of all that exists. God cares about the entire creation and desires the well being of all. God is just and has provided basic roles for our guidance so that we might be good and righteous, according to God s

An Act OfFavoritism In The Grapes Of Wrath Another act done out of favoritism was when Kerman requested a job transfer and got results. All of the women in the camp who worked in the electricity department had to deal with Desimon. None of the women liked him because he was verbally abusive and did not treat them with much respect. Kerman had an incident with Desimon where she felt harassed and could not stand working with him anymore. She brought this issue to Desimon s boss who quickly replied with I ll switch you out of there immediately (Kerman 174). One can conclude that it was not the first time Desimon was reported by one of the inmate s because of the fact that he was not well liked. Also instead of dismissing Desimon to avoid such incidents with the other women, his boss places Kerman in a different department. Working with Desimon would have made Kerman s life in prison harder than it already was, this was a favor because he also could have denied Kerman s transfer leaving her to deal with Desimon s verbal abuses.... It is highly doubtful because his job would be on the line if one of them actually decided to jump in the lake. The fact that Kerman looked like a nice white, harmless lady probably affected his decision on letting her go by the lake. Kerman barely had any contact with Mr. Thomas yet somehow he was able to feel safe breaking the rules for her to have a couple minutes of peace and

Importance Of PublicMonuments Public monuments, by contrast, offer an anachronistic experience: a face to face encounter in a specially valued place set aside for collective gathering (Source A). Public monuments provide an escape, or a memory, to people who are willing to sink their teeth into the rich history they provide. More importantly, memorializing has been apart of humanity since the beginning of time, and we use it to praise people or events of importance, as well as events that hold great sorrow. Along with the importance and values that commemorate memorials, comes immense preparation and planning when building a monument. Therefore, it is important that three main factors from sources E, G, and C, are taken into consideration when attempting to build a memorial. Initially, location is the most detrimental factor when planning a memorial. The location should not only please the people of the area, but also correspond to the location of what it is memorializing, as well as cause no harm to the artificial or organic structures in the area. However, some may reject memorials in certain locations because of harmful memories they may evoke. While some may feel this way, most can accept the fact that a memorial is a beneficial way to remember an event, whether it s joyful or glum. A clear example in source E states, The controversy grew from Jewish and non Jewish communities, primarily due to the fact that a museum dedicated to the memory of the Holocaust would be built in the United States,

In other words, you are to do your best to gather as much information as you can until you have approximately seventy five percent of the data and facts. Then, use your knowledge, skill, and perception to fill in the remaining twenty five percent. The Marines view is that it is always better to make a decision and execute aggressively with partial information, than it is to wait and make a perfect decision that may be too late and lead to undesirable results. You are taught to rapidly estimate a situation and make a solid decision based on that estimation. There is no room for reluctance to make a decision. If there is reluctance, then you revise it. The rapid decision making process has taught me to not be afraid to make a decision and learn from my mistakes and to respect the leader who corrects mistakes immediately and owns up to it. The initiative program provides parents and students with certificates that are accepted by the private school to pay for the learning place of the holder s choice, rather than the funds go to the public school to which they are assigned. As citizens of the United States we enjoy choices and time and again look upon this as rather a positive thing for a citizen of the United States. Linda Bond EdwardsOn Bullying Summary Start Here: Linda Bond Edwards is an attorney that works with employers regarding employment and labor issues. Edwards focused the majority of her lecture on workplace bullying and its impact on organizations. She gave some examples of what workplace bullying is and I was very shocked to find that it is not illegal. She made the point though that organizations are really starting to put policies in place that prevents bullying and stopping it when it happens. Her stance was that it is better left in the organizations hands than in courtrooms due to the lawsuits that it could lead to. The one thing I learned was that bullying is not illegal, just unethical. Depending on the organization, some may actually approve of bullying, but with the growing prevalence of bullying prevention in schools, government offices, and other private institutions top managers of many organizations are putting policies into place to prevent bullying. One take away that I have is that I may unintentionally be a bully because of my type A personality. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If market demand increases, price is bid up and economic profits are made in the short run. These economic profits attract new firms to the market, and existing firms may expand. But to produce their output, firms need resources. If the total demand for resources increases significantly, resource prices are bid up for each firm in the industry. This causes an upward shift of the average total cost curve, consistent with a higher equilibrium price at the point of zero profit. 8.(Perfect Competition and Efficiency) Define productive efficiency and allocative efficiency. What conditions must be met to achieve them Productive efficiency occurs when the firm produces its output at the least possible cost per unit. This requires the firm to produce at the minimum point of its long run average cost curve. Allocative efficiency occurs when the goods that are being produced are the ones consumers most prefer. In order to achieve these efficiencies, firms are required to produce where price (which measures the consumers marginal valuation of the last unit of the product) equals marginal cost (which measures the opportunity cost of using resources to produce the last unit). 9.(CaseStudy Experimental

Amelia Earhart Contributions Over100 years ago, when humanity looked for new places to conquer, two men looked to the skies. Wilbur and Orville Wright built the first working motor airplane, and after that day, the world took a huge interest in aviation, causing many leading pioneers and innovators in the aerospace field to emerge, revolutionizing the way we look at the skies. Amelia Earhartwas one of the first pilots to revolutionize the skies, and what made her particularly iconic was the fact that she was one of the first woman to fly. She discovered her love for flight after watching the Royal Flying Corps train in Toronto, Canada whilst she served as a Red Cross nurse in WWI. She then had her first airplane ride in December 1920 in California with WWI pilot Frank Hawks. After this confirmation of her love for aviation, she began lessons with instructor Neta Snook, another early woman pilot. Amelia did all she could (taking odd jobs) in order to pay for her lessons and then her first airplane: a Kinner Airster. She passed her flight test and got her license in December 1921, and afterwards she set out to define herself as a pioneer in the field of aviation, becoming the first woman to fly solo 14,000 feet above sea level. Her biggest accomplishment was flying solo across the Atlantic Ocean, as she was the first woman to do so. She continued to fly for many years, but then on a flight outside of the United States, both she and her plane were lost near the Bermuda Triangle, and no wreckage was

Modern Pain TherapiesFor Pain Management Essay 1 Introduction Despite all the advances erupting from therapeutic research, current treatments for pain management remain inadequate. The efficacies of modern pain therapies are challenged by adverse tolerability profiles, unfavourable side effects, concerns with long tern use and potential for misuse or abuse (Carven Roberts, 2013). While the major analgesic medicines on the market today include narcotic (opioids) and non narcotic analgesics, non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and heat therapy (Carven Roberts, 2013), engineered biologics are emerging as a promising approach to reconcile various inadequacies of existing pain therapies, since they can be manufactured with capacities such as target specificity to minimize unnecessary, adverse reactivity. Utilizing recombinant DNA technology, our iGEM team hopes to produce the functional mambalgin 1 protein, which is naturally derived from the venom of Dendroaspis polylepis, commonly referred to as the African Black Mamba. Mambalgins have been characterized with a strong potential to be useful in the treatment of acute and chronic pain, since the mechanism of action for this protein is independent of the opioid pathway meaning that it likely non addictive by its properties and is as potent as morphine, without building tolerance (Diochot, Baron, Salinas, Douguet, Scarzello, Dabert Gay, Debayle, Friend, Alloui, Lazdunski, Lingueglia, 2012). Parents should be able to use these state issued debit cards to decide which type of educational institution they want to send their child to. The counterargument to this is that taxpayers money is going back into the private trust rather than into the public school institution. School choice means providing this funding for low income students who live in school zones with lower quality schools. If a family can, with these state issued cards, send their child to private school, then they should be able to do so as it provides a great opportunity for advancement. In this regard, school choice is a vehicle to help improve inner cities and to provide options particularly for low income families trapped in failing schools (Swaby). The Terrorist Attackon the Twin Towers When September 11 happened, I was too young to understand the gravity of what caused it and what the effects were when it happened. When I was growing up, I started to grasp what happened and understand why certain things about that day were suspicious. Some people believed that terrorists plotted the entire thing, while others believed that the government was completely behind it; I on the other hand was the middle. To this day I believe in evidence, and where there is little or no evidence, I become skeptical. I know that there were planes hitting the Twin Towers because there is video evidence proving it, but what happened with World Trade Center Building 7, the Pennsylvania field crash, and the Pentagon are questionable because there is no sophisticated evidence to prove that terrorists were behind it. Why am I not convinced with what the government says about terrorists attacking the Pentagon? What makes a person doubt what the government tells us, and what makes people believe in conspiracies when there is not enough evidence or lack there of? When the Twin Towers were hit, bystanders claimed to have seen a military plane because it was unmarked and had no windows. In addition to that, researchers looked at the video evidence of the Twin Towers, and what the government investigation papers said to understand how it really happened. Steven Jones of Brigham Young University wrote a research paper about how the Twin Towers and Building 7 collapsed using the laws of

How can PhilipLarkin s poetry be used to address the... The marginal or neglected can be seen to refer to individuals, a class or nation, to ideas that have been marginalised, to neglected forms such as poetry, and to the marginalised self. Philip Larkin is renowned for his use of the colloquial in his poetry, and he renews the importance of everyday language and words, that have been neglected and marginalised in forms of expression. His poems have the tone of the ordinary day. Through this use of language, he reflects on the loss of identity and to the neglected state of England due to modernisation and industrialisation. Poetry itself is a specialist form; however Larkins poetry can be seen as homely and less dramatic. He brought back poetry as a relevant and accessible medium, as it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the fourth stanza, he describes what he feels now (l.18), and the use of mass images suggests a loss of identity. For example the plural images of the crowd, kids (ll.19 21), More houses, more parking allowed, / More caravan sites, more pay (ll.22 3). England is becoming meaningless, having no individual identity, where greeds / And garbage are too thick strewn (ll.51 2). The spectacled grins (l.25) represent the blandness of businessmen as they contemplate a commercial manoeuvre without taking account of the possible human consequences. Yet they are still mere grins, and not people. Modern industrial images are contrasted with the images of nature, such as the M1 cafГ© (l.20) and concrete and tyres (l.49). Industry is marginalising the countryside, neglecting it. In the third stanza he expresses the fairly naГЇve belief that nature is stronger and more resilient than man and it will be able to recover. Later in the poem however, the strength of nature, how the earth will always respond (l.14), is trapped. The only parts that will be bricked in are the tourist parts (ll.39 40), yet the reason for the tourism is suggested to be because we will become the first slum of Europe (l.41). The marginalisation of the importance of the countryside is unnecessary, as the dales are

The Colossus andDaddy by Sylvia Plath Sylvia Plath is one of the greatest poets of all time the queen of confessional poetry. Her writing is thick with figurative language that cannot be interpreted only one way. Sylvia Plath herself was complicated, and she struggled with her own personal hardships up until the day she took her own life. Plath s father passed when she was only eight, and she struggled with his absence not only though the rest of her childhood but also into adult hood. Many critics believe her famous poems, such as The Colossus and Daddy, were confessional poems Sylvia wrote about her father. Although there are many ties within her poetry to her real father, her writing cannot only be interpreted this way. Sylvia had many demons she likely tried to tackle or even understand through her writing her pain channeling through the speaker. The Colossus, a poem widely believed to stem from her own experiences with death and depression, is a beautiful poem rich with imagery that exposes the pain of living forever in the shadows. The literal definition of colossus means large statue. A colossus can be a statue that represents a deceased person. The Colossus of Rhodes, one of the seven ancient wonders of the world, was so grand in size it was considered one of the tallest statues during that time. The speaker of Sylvia s poem tries to put together a man, whether it be her father or not, to understand him. She considers him a monument, a colossus, an ancient wonder of the world that holds power

Romans Threats ToJewish People Essay The reasons why the Romans were able to take over Jewish people was their power, execution, and threats. The Romans were very brutal people which lead to the suffering of the Jewish people. Army forces for the Romans were good for them because they had powerful men and more technology equipment. The Jewish people survived these threats by listening to the Romans and doing whatever they wished for. Their power and force to make the Jewish people do what the Romans wanted was the cause of the Jewish diaspora. The Romans were a powerful group because of their armies which meant the Jewish people could not revolt against them because the Roman army could try to kill them. Aerobic respiration requires for oxygen to be present in order to create energy, which it can be done by the chemical of ATP. As for anaerobic respiration it s quite opposite It doesn t need oxygen to create energy. The alternative they produce energy is by use of nitrogen, or sulfur. Fermentation comes into action when respiration is low. This process will only include mostly just carbohydrates with just low levels of oxygen. 2. The Importance OfMismanagement Without a budget in place, a nonprofit will be looking at its feet, and will soon find itself walking into a brick wall. A Profit and Loss Statement with Budget is the preferred route, as the Program Director will see how close they are to their targeted amount. If they actually do read and understand the numbers, they will find errors: an expense belonging to another department, or funding that has not been received as expected. They will, however, rarely tell you that an $880 program material expense is not showing up, and may hope no one else notices it. Grant funding does not always include an allowance for direct overhead or administrative costs (Renz, 2016). Still, each program must absorb costs of the overhead. Continuing with the complexity of nonprofit budgeting, building various revenue streams into a program s budget is a task fraught with peril. Multiple funding may be provided for one program, or one grant may cover several. This is when your finance staff will often be seen wearing wigs or headscarves to hide the missing hair they have yanked out. Likewise, overhead costs must be planned and budgeted for as well, regardless of how much of this cost you can successfully apply to program budgets. Review your previous year s operating

Risks of TeenagersObtaining a Driver s Licence Most teens look forward to getting a driver s license. But that may change if they know that they have a much higher risk of having a motor accident than adult drivers. In the United States, driving accidents are a leading cause of death among teenagers. These accidents happen mostly in populated cities. This problem has caused each state to have its own drivinglaws for teens. Although this problem is already a priority in many states, it should get more attention from the general public, especially teens. It is important for people to know about driving laws because these laws can help establish safe driving habits. California laws that attempt to decrease teen caused auto accidentsinclude establishing a minimum age for passengers of teenage drivers. In California, a new driver cannot transport anyone who is under 20 years of age unless a licensed adult is also in the vehicle. Another effective law in California requires teen drivers to have at least 50 hours of supervised driving during the learner s permit stage. This law is effective because it allows teens to learn how to drive safely on the road with the help of an experienced driver. Although some laws are effective, teens are still known to cause accidents. Therefore, a solution should be proposed to the state governments that will call for a law that requires teens to take an annual mandatory driving testfor a certain number of years after obtaining a license. Existing Driving Laws Fail to Ensure Safety As

Emerson thought that all great works were products of individualism and self reliance, claiming that: In every work of genius we recognize our own rejected thoughts: they come back to us with a certain alienated majesty. Great works of art have no more affecting lesson for us than this. They teach us to abide by our spontaneous impression with good humored inflexibility then most when the whole cry of voices is on the other side.
