Persuasive Essay On Young Life
Just imagine...you are out in the middle of daunting mountains with ten of your friends and two
guides. They are all you have to rely on to survive. Your mind is going crazy thinking of all of the
worst possibilities, but all you can do is trust the person next to you to get from point A to point
B. In the spring of 2017, I decided to go on a backing tripwith a group called Young Life. Young
Life is a christian organization and their main goal is to get high schoolers into a christian
environment. I had been going to this club for the whole year and was excited to go on this
backpacking trip. I encouraged a couple of my friends and my older brother to go along with me.
We planned everything and had a whole checklist of what to bring and what not to bring for the
week long trip. The plan was, to hike for three days, then peak the mountainon the fourth day. After
a long and fun drive up to the San Juan Mountain range in southern Colorado, we finally arrived.
The instant that I got out of the crowded van I was hit with a wave of excitement and anxiety. We
are really in the middle of the mountainsabout to enter the woods for five days, I thought to
myself. After the quick wave of shock, I was excited to be with my friends embarking on this
adventure. We began the hike. The silence was deafening and the sense of fear from the group
was palpable. I would try to stay positive and excited, but the fear was overpowering. We hiked for
what seemed like forever until we

They ordered the strikers to leave and someone threw a bomb. A policeman was killed, and six
more policeman died in the fight that followed. A more lasting labor organization was the
American Federation of Labor started by Samuel Gompers. Gompers decided (rightly) that the
best strategy for labor was to avoid any connection with radical socialist/anarchist movements,
and to make it clear that all workers were after were better wages and working conditions. In
1892, the AFL led a strike at Carnegie Steel s Homestead facility near Pittsburg. The manager of
the facility, Henry Clay wanted to break the local union so when union leaders tried to negotiate
for a better contract, Frick decided instead to give them a worse contract with lower wages. This
led to a strike. In 1894, the Chicago based Pullman Company laid 1/3 of its work force and cut
wages by 40% for the remaining workers. At the same time, they kept up the prices in the
company stores and the rent for company housing. Naturally enough, the workers went on strike.
Eugene Debs, head of the American Railway Workers Union, did what he could to help. His union
launched a boycott of all Pullman made cars, refusing to operate a train with Pullman cars until the
Pullman company reached an agreement with striking workers. The railroads responding by firing
the boycotters, and this led to a walk out by all railroad workers. The trains in Chicago came to a

Analysis Of My Papa s Waltz
Due to Theodore Roethke s use of imagery, syntax, and diction, My Papa s Waltz continues to
spur passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and students alike. Roethke uses these
elements to allow the reader to recognize that he is reminiscing the intricate relationship he and his
father shared. Although it is not essential, one could put the historical context into consideration.
Evidently, there will always be individuals that see only abuse or a fond memory; however, we
will never clearly know what his intention was in regards to the purpose of the poem. As a result,
one must come to a realization based on the author s use of diction, syntax, and imagery throughout
the poem broken down line by line; in order to fully... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Typically, when people see signs of abuse, they reach conclusions; especially, because the word
romped has a sexual connotation. To clarify, when the ...hung on like death: is mentioned, an image
of forceful physical contact comes to most readers minds. When slid from the kitchen shelf is
mentioned people immediately assume that he beat his son until the pans slid off the shelf. As for
the positive, it can be assumed that there was simply a father playing roughly with his son. Roethke
mentions, My mother s countenance/ could not unfrown itself. Could it be that his mother was
upset that the father played extremely rough that the pans slid or that she could not do anything
about the fact that her son was getting abused. Was there a possibility that she was getting abused
too? The reader now begins to ponder whether it is a fond memory, abuse, or both are present.
Furthermore, the analysis of the third stanza, relates to the fond memory. Roethke descriptively
mentions, The hand that held my wrist/Was battered on one knuckle; The battered knuckle can be
a sign of the father s manual labor; on the contrary, it can be the beating of his child leaving his
hand injured. Even though, these two points can be argued thoroughly, the following line, At every

Malnutrition Around the World For most us Americans, knowing when we re going to eat next
is something we very rarely think of, and when we do think about being hungry we still know
where our food is coming from. Three big meals a day, and a few snacks in between, is how
most of us live. It s hard for us to imagine what its like for those who go days eating very little or
nothing at all. But unfortunately that s how it is for most of the world and surprisingly it happens
in the United Sates as well. There are many reasons malnutrition can happen, and it happens to
every age group. Even though there are many ways to treat it, in the ... Show more content on

The ten states who felt it the most were Mississippi, New Mexico, Texas, South Carolina,
Louisiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Arizona. (Haerens 36) While there are
malnourished people in America, it is much worse all around the world, mostly in third world
countries. There are three predominate reasons why third world countries are hit hard with
malnutrition, 1) poor families aren t given government help, 2) difficulties with economy and 3)
higher food prices. ( 2012 World Hunger... ) As stated in the website 2012 World Hunger and
Poverty Facts and Statistics, in the world there are 925 million hungry people, most of them in
Asia, the Pacific and Africa. These people live on $1.25 or less a day. Minimum wage is $7.25
in the U.S., and most people work 8 hours a day, so that means they would be getting fifty eight
dollars a day. It would take someone in a third world country about forty seven days to make
what someone makes in America in 8 hours. And most of them spend that money on food and
medical needs, but $1.25 is not enough. In the United States if a family doesn t have enough
money for medical help, they can still go see a doctor, but in other countries it s very different.
More than 30,000 children die per year from preventable sickness because they can t go see a
doctor. And as for food, Americans have access to food every hour of the day. The wealthiest 5th

Dave Egger s Shortcomings In Zeitoun
In his national bestselling novel Zeitoun, author Dave Eggers draws sympathy from his audience
by applying the three appeals during the documentation of a muslim family s experience with racial
prejudice in post 9/11 Katrina. Eggers purpose calls upon painting a vivid picture of the
discrimination towards the protagonist and his family before and after Hurricane Katrina. His tone
is often sentimental and builds emotional appeal.
Throughout the novel, Zeitoun experiences a number of shortcomings due to his race. Eggers often
employs pathos during such moments and uses an objective tone to indirectly voice his opinions to
his readers. By utilizing this method, his prose is subtly convincing in a way that allows readers to

His work during Katrina involved compassionate actions and centralized the rhetoricals of
pathos. However, many of the actions went unrecognized or completely ignored by the officials
who were assisting him. One example would be his persistent care in feeding the neighborhood
dogs that were stranded and uncared for in deserted houses. Zeitoun sympathy for the dogs
allowed their hunger to be dissolved. Zeitoun s effort towards the dogs immediately went to
waste after being arrested by the police. He pleads to the officials to take care of them, but later
finds them to be deceitful. The stench hit him immediately. He knew the dogs were dead before he
saw them (Pg. 280) Eggers urges his readers visualize the distrust that the soldiers had toward
Zeitoun. Despite his attempts to care for the dogs at the expense of his time and personal resources,
his pleas to save the innocent dogs are scornfully disregarded due to the arrogance and skepticism of
officials. Thus, the dogs went uncared for and died. From his neighbors to the dogs, Zeitoun s
dedication of his trustworthiness and sympathetic heart exhibits a trustful attitude towards his
community that the government fails to

Undertones In Coraline
If you want a movie to watch that is geared towards children but will give any sensible person
nightmares, Coraline is the movie for you. Coraline is a simple story about a young girl who
moves into a new house and is given a doll that looks exactly like her. With seemingly neglectful
parents, Coraline s only support is a cat that occasionally speaks, a strange young boy, and her
eccentric neighbors while reality is bent and twisted around her. This movie is made using stop
motion and puppets. The time and effort it took to make this movie is impressive on its own, but
the nuances are what makes Coralinea spectacular movie, along with the fact that Neil Gaiman
wrote the book that the screenplay is based upon. One thing is for certain, you will never look at

Even better, it doesn t have any overtly sexual undertones that are common in the horror genre.
Because of this, Coraline has a universal audience; it appeals to both kids and adults. What
translates across both of those audiences are the malicious and dark undertones. These undertones
work to communicate that just because a person wants something, doesn t mean they should get
it. Besides the various creepy undertones are the more obvious aspects, such as the black button
eyes the people in the Other World have instead of normal eyes. The black buttons mark the
characters as belonging to the Other Mother, they are of her own creation. What makes this movie
stand out amongst other horror movies, other than the aforementioned lack of sexualization and
gore, is the no strings attached happy ending. Good conquers evil and said evil is trapped forever.

On Going Home By Joan Didion
In her essay On Going Home, author Joan Didion speaks to new parents about how the
experience of going home after starting a new family can trigger feelings of disconnection
between families, old and new. Written from Didion s own experience returning to her childhood
home for her daughter s first birthday, the essay describes her nostalgia for her previous home and
how she regrets being unable to, as a mother, provide the same familial experiences she had as a
child. Using relatable invention, imagery inducing arrangement, and syntax that inspires more
deliberate reading by the audience, Didion effectively convinces her readers of the familial
fragmentation that occurs with the creation of a nuclear family.
Didion s use of the first canon of rhetoric, invention, exemplifies her command of the emotional
side of rhetoric. An example is the line, I have another cup of coffee with my mother. We get
along very well, veterans of a guerilla war we never understood (Didion par. 3). This line expertly
conveys the combative nature of the relationship a mother has with her ... Show more content on

Instead of filling the space between thoughts with conjunctions and connectors, she fills them with
silence. A paragraph continuing the description of her time at home that begins Days pass. I see no
one creates a permeating sense of dread that is identified with returning home (par. 4). Another
instance of effective use of similar syntax is the lines Marriage is the classic betrayal. Or perhaps it
is not any more (par. 1 2). When Didion makes observations like these but doesn t immediately offer
more explanation, the audience must read with the intent of finding out what is meant, rather than
simply being handed a justification. These short, direct thoughts unembellished by accompanying
explanations create more engaging writing, resulting in a more affected audience that is more likely

How Can Hybrid Cars Have Affected The Automobile Industry
Hybrid and electric cars have affected the automobile industry by using alternative energies other
than fuel and reducing the amount of carbon dioxide that is emitted into the atmosphere. Like
everything, there are many advantages and disadvantages to having a hybrid or an electric car.
The first electric car was built in Scotland by Robert Anderson in 1839. (Berman, 2011) Over the
years there were little improvements but sometime between 1890 and 1910, there were significant
improvements in the battery technology that were made by H. Tudor, Edison, and Junger.
(Berman, 2011) According to (Berman, 2011) the first car to be labeled as a hybrid car was made

Nowadays, most modern electric cars contain a lithium ion battery. Some electric cars do still
use the lead acid battery and gas powered cars also use the lead acid battery to help start the
engines. (Shahan, 2014) Like the hybrid car, the electric car has a lot of advantages to owning
one as well. One of the huge advantages to owning an electric car is that zero gas if required for
the car to run. (Rinkesh, 2016) So instead of potentially spending thousands of dollars on gas
each year, you could end up spending as less as five hundred forty dollars a year to charge your
vehicle. It is also possible to get money back from the government for going green and using an
electric car. (Campbell, 2014) The electric car is also a great advantage for the environment.
Since the electric car doesn t use gas and runs on a fully electric powered engine, they are very
eco friendly. They don t emit any toxic gases, smoke, or any other fumes into the atmosphere.
(Rinkesh, 2016) This makes the electric car even better than the hybrid car because the hybrid car

The Czech Republic has its roots as a former communist state known as Czechoslovakia. The fall of

history. From the Velvet Revolution in 1989 to the charismatic leadership of the poet Vaclav Havel,
the Czech Republic has developed well in the European cultures (Katz 2008). The Czech Republic

Rugged individualism is a characteristic of many Americans and politicians. The Czech Republic,
on the other hand, score much lower score on individualism, and tend to value the mentality that we
are in this together. This can be seen in their different types of advertising in their country. Their
advertising constantly appeals to family happiness, togetherness, and friendship focusing on groups
of people enjoying life together (Taylor, 2002).
Masculinity is a dimension that characterizes a culture s tendency toward valuing competition
and success defined by winning at whatever the challenge, or the culture s value of caring of
others and quality of life. A high masculinity score would be the former and a lower masculinity
score would be the latter. The Czech Republic and the U.S. have a very similar score here
(Hofstede amp; Hofstede, 2005). They are both right in the middle of the scale and can be
categorized as having a good balance between competition and striving to be on top as the winner,
and caring for others along the way.
Uncertainty avoidance is a dimension that captures a society s way that they deal with ambiguity.
The anxiety of an unknown future can lead to a societal out pour that creates beliefs or institutions
to try to avoid this anxiety (Hofstede amp; Hofstede, 2005). In the Czech Republic, the older
generations tend to want to avoid uncertainty and are reluctant to take risks. This can most likely

Imagine two scenes. The first is set at a club where scantily clad women and men are dancing on

Black feminism, according to Hartman (2011), is an epistemology that allows for better
analyses of women s roles in American society because from the standpoint of black women is a
more detailed picture of how race, class, and gender intersect more readily accessible (p. 7). In
other words, it argues that social issues are intersectional inextricably bound together. Thus, black
feminist thought is applied to black women who have some version of a feminist consciousness.
The most prominent example is Erykah Badu. Hartman states, Badu challenges the notion that
femininity, sexuality, and womanhood is enacted by a singular method and gives credence to the
notion that sexuality is more complex. Her music does not follow the traditional I need a man
theme, but instead is about self empowerment and equality, two themes that feminism
encompasses. For instance, in her song Bag Lady , Badu (2000) sings, Bag lady you gone hurt
your back / Dragging all them bags like that in which she continues and demands for her fans to
not fall under the pressure of society s standards because if the conforming continues, it will
become a burden and hurt our backs. In the video, Erykah Badu and four other black women, two
of which are her mother and sister, are modestly dressed in different colors while set in different

The Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin
The Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin is a criticism of today s capitalism by investigating what
society structure would be best for human society. Le Guin uses the two models of capitalism
and communism to be compared and contrasted against one another to determine which would
function better and how to achieve such success. In order to depict what a replacement structure
would look like; Le Guin creates two worlds to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of
influence that each of these models have not only on their society, but on Shevek, the main
character. The planet of Urras is a wealthy society, but all of this money is in the hands of the
elites at the expense of those in the lower, working class. Their power continues to be protected
by state figures as they work hand in hand adjusting society structures to benefit themselves and
not every other citizen left into poverty. The moon of Urras is Anarres which is a stateless
society that is continuously stagnant and has been in such a position for several decades.
Although Anarres is described as the better world out of the two, the subtitle of the novel An
Ambiguous Utopia indicates that there are some downfalls to this seemingly perfect society. This
is a world of devastation with majority of their citizens in poverty and forced to work in jobs that
they are not suited for and ultimately hate. The working class is a necessity for this planet to be
sustained despite their bleak living conditions and weaknesses. Its

Analysis Of Paul Pleas With The Corinthians
Putting pen to paper, Paul pleas with the Corinthians to better themselves through Christ Jesus.
While in discourse with the Corinthians, the polemic language of Paul becomes, at times, difficult
to digest. While pursuing a better relationship with the believers in Corinth, the apostle often used
terms such as we, our, and us. These pronouns can be understood in multiple ways; however, the
manner in which they are comprehended sheds light on Paul s agenda. In the analysis of 2
Corinthians 4: 8 18, the pronouns are best understood as being inclusive in terms of Paul, his
followers, and the believers in Corinth.
According to a study by Brown, the apostle Paul was likely born in approximately 5 to 10 AD
which was during the reign of the emperor Augustus . Paul was a melting pot of several different

intermingling of a multiplicity of cultures renders Paul a very diverse teacher.
With the ability to assimilate to various aspects of the universal Roman society, the apostle is
able to relate to and address many different types of people. This aspect of his life makes Paul

St. Johns Lutheran Church
For as long as I can remember, St. Johns Lutheran Church has been like a second home. It is the
church where I was baptized (for a second time), took first communion and affirmed my faith
through confirmation. I belonged at St. Johns. I was a member of St. Johns.
As I entered adulthood, I had a natural instinct for organization and leadership and I had a strong
interest in using those talents to serve the church. I worked with youth groups, participated in
WELCA, served on the church council and it seemed there wasn t a task I would not take on.
Many people, myself included, anticipated the next logical stop on my journey would be seminary.
But I didn t feel or hear the call at the time.
Nearly two decades later, I started to put the pieces of the puzzle together. It would start with a
simple but powerful statement, We are called to make disciples, not members. That statement
would lead me to reflect on and seek out a better understanding of what it meant to be a disciple.
That, in turn, led me to study and reflect on the concept of servanthood. I realized that developing a
more personal and authentic relationship with Christ required more than just attending worship,
working in the church and simply believing in Him. I realized that living a Christ like life required
a different way of thinking, a different way of living.
The years that followed were filled with more questions than answers. It was a time of skepticism
about the work of the church and how much time

I. Introduction A. Attention Material: Dreams feel weird while we are in them. It s only when
we wake up that we realize something was actually strange (Inception, the movie). Have you ever
been curious about what your dreams actually mean? B. Credibility material: There have been
many times in my life where I have either woke up in the middle of the night from a horrible
nightmare or woke up in the morning trying to recall my dreams. I have spent a lot of time
researching what my dreams mean. C. Statement of Relevance: Dreams are something we all

Main Point #2: Facts about Dreams 1. Your body goes through 4 stages of sleep. REM (rapid eye
movement) is the 4th stage and when you do most of your dreaming. While you are dreaming, your
body undergoes noticeable changes. Your adrenaline rises, your blood pressure increases, and
you heart beats faster. Given this hyperactivity, it should be no surprise how someone with a
weak heart can die in their sleep (dreammoods.com). It usually takes 30 90 minutes to reach
REM, a person goes in and out of REM 4 7 times a night. During REM your eyes rapidly move
back and forth under the eyelids. Our bodies are completely immobile and muscles are relaxed.
You may shift around in your sleep but when in REM you are completely still. 2. Dreammoods.com
states that Researchers have found why dreaming is so important and if you do not enter the dream
phase it causes irritability and anxiety. They performed a study, where they would wake up a
person right before they entered the REM stage, and then let the person fall back asleep, and then
wake them up again and do this several times during the night. They repeated this over several
nights. They then observed the subjects doing everyday activities and found they were disoriented,
crabby, and quick tempered. Dreaming is necessary and helps to recharge the mind and visualize
the body. 3. According to the site BoredPanda.com, while someone is dreaming

I M an Entertainment Person
The term mise en scene is used to signify the director s control over what appears in the film frame
(1) and covers such elements as setting, lighting, costume and the movement and actions of figures
appearing within the film.
The iconic Citizen Kane (Welles, 1941), a biopic that traces the life of fictional newspaper magnate
Charles Kane, uses the elements of mise en scene to reinforce loss as a recurring theme throughout
the film. As a faceless reporter goes about collecting personal recounts of Kane, the stories told

After watching it, and knowing more about true appreciation of film I get it, so to speak.
Watching a film takes so much more than just escaping from your own life for a few hours.
Being able to turn your brain off and say, Ok. I get to live in this other world for the day. This is
my life for a day. Film is only about escaping in the sense that a message must escape from the
scenes, and the story as a whole. It may never cross the lips of any of the characters, or be
written in white on a black screen (as in black and whites), and it won t be mystically entered
into your computerized mind, or sent as a message to your iPhone. No...to get the message of the
film you have to watch and know what to look for the subtle nuances and the mise en scene,
everything that is in a particular frame, because those are the clues and you are the detective. You
must find universal truth and your own personal growth from what you take from the movie.
Some movies do a poor job of sending a message and those are the movies that people watch and
forget to learn from them. Other are too complex. Citizen Kane is perfect because you can learn
everything you ever needed to know about how to analyze a film from it, and it is such a
beautifully simple story, with complex characters, making the everyday important, just as it should
be in our own lives.

Pride Of Reputation In Beowulf
Beowulf is a piece of Anglo Saxon literature that is expressed in Old English and provides an
image of early medieval times. It is known as one of the greatest epic poems ever written. The
main character, Beowulf, displays personality traits that set him apart from the other warriors. The
bond between family and clans shapes the powerful warrior s action that would either form an
alliance to help protect against enemies or gain enemies. There are many elements that are
significant to a person s life. In Beowulf, establishing reputation is one of the most important
aspects in life. In the Anglo Saxon culture, when a man has a higher reputation, he will most
likely have a stronger respect and trust amongst other warriors. Each character has a reputation
that plays a role in society. Having a superior reputation can make someone have a recognition in
a part of the history. In every epic poem, a character becoming too concerned with his image is the
main flaw that causes problems. The character only thinks about their image and not what is best
for them in order to overcome challenges. However, in Beowulf, this pride of reputation helps
enhance him as a great warrior. Beowulf is establishing his reputation through his building blocks of
challenges he will have encountered. Reputation is the defining concept because Beowulf is
constantly concerned of how people view him. In the beginning of the poem, when Beowulf first
met the Danes, he was concerned with how their society

are also in agreement with Imele and Atemnkeng (2001) who found that, the time of coagulation
was increased with increasing the coconut milk percentage. Moreover, Isono et al., (2001) reported
that coconut oil contained some antimicrobial compounds. The addition of coconut milk while the

present in coconut milk on the yoghurt bacteria that were supposedly in the exponential (active)

stream of the Mattawan Consolidated Schools area. The purpose of this trip was to conduct a
stream study to determine the health, conditions, and pollution levels of this small body of water. A
multitude of factors came into play when making a judgement on the streams health, and making
sure to take all of these essential points was crucial to the study. A variety of thorough
experiments were conducted to help make this overlying conclusion, as many students adopted
many roles in the study. Students used a physical survey form, water test data sheet, and taxa

allowed the class to make a judgement of the stream s state. For the convenience of the students, a
packet for recording the stream s content and results was provided. On the first and second page,
tables for seeing the taxa types of aquatic macroinvertebrates found were laid out, and students were
to check the boxes with the names of the taxa they found in this area. Students entered the stream
with a large water strain, and put dirt from the stream and carried it out of the stream to be

globally and that is due to the efficiency and perseverance of the Japanese workers. However, it
has one of the highest suicide rates in the world which makes it sound abnormal for such a
successful country. It reached 19.5 suicides among every 100,000 Japanese. In addition, In 2003,

The Importance Of Self Improvement And The Value Of Education
The importance of self improvement and the value of education
A person is not defined by their past and the mistakes that they have made. They are defined by
what obstacles they have gone through and overcome in order to grow into the person that they
are today. Without struggle, there is no progress. No one can self improve unless they are willing
and able to overcome the challenges of life. Two important morals in my life are : always making
the room to self improve, and valuing my education. Through my American story, I plan to share
how I learned to appreciate the meaning of education, and the importance of improving and
bettering myself. Guest presentations and readings of other American s narratives this
semester, such as the presentation by David Delizza, Gary Shtyengart s novel Super Sad True
Love Story, The Narrative of Frederick Douglass , and The chicken in the hen house by David
Sedaris, all have made a further emphasis on aspects relevant to my life and my own story as an
American. David Delizza, one of our guest speakers, provided excellent advice on the topics of
self improvement and education. In David s opinion, education and self improvement are
extremely important, and are two factors that have helped him to accomplish many goals in life.
When David was placed on academic probation in college due to his low GPA, his school asked
him to remove himself from the program. He said no and set out to prove them wrong. The

Feeling Like A Role Model
Feeling like a role model was an amazing sensation. Working as a customer experience
representative was emotionally validating in itself. Yet when combined with an audience, the work
became doubly fulfilling. In some ways, it boosted her self esteem and drove her to become the best
version of herself. She noticed that when her daily life was made transparent, her words and actions
became happier, more altruistic, and more intellectually interesting. She had been told that this
would be a positive effect of going transparent, but she had not anticipated other changes. She had
not anticipated that being transparent would actually redirect some of her less than perfect habits.
The camera s influence caused her to think more carefully about the way she presented herself.
When she thoughtof her viewers seeing her choices, she felt pressured to make healthy choices.
Thus, she abstained from sugary foods, and consumed socially acceptable levels of alcohol.
When she thought of the camera catching her consuming aspirin, she was ashamed of the image
that this might project and rerouted her behavior. Thus, she entered a life where she abstained
from the parts of her life that she found imperfect. Being watched was a way to curb bad
behavior. Mae found this freeing, and she was revered as a role model for this projected
perfection. This in turn gave Mae the responsibility of bringing light to the lives of her viewers.
This was a duty that kept her going day to day.

For overcoming the problem related to PDS one should give emphasis to universal public
distribution system as in other state of India such as Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu
instead of targeted public distribution system (TPDS). The reason is, in TPDS one has to target
the beneficiaries to find out who deserves BPL category and who deserves APL category and it
is in the process of targeting where the biasness and corruption starts. But when the distribution
system becomes universal means everyone is eligible corruption declines because it reduces the
power of authorities to do corruption through colluding and divergence and leakage of foodgrains

Since major portion of population in the region is rural and is dependent on agriculture in one way
or the other and when drought occurs their livelihood is severely hampered. Thus there must be

considered this region is the most poor though it is very rich in resource availability. In comparison

The character of Manus is rather more complicated than that of Hugh and our perception of him

This enforces Manus loyalty towards his father and perhaps is an indication of Irish faithfulness

Boeing Le Production System
BOEING LEAN: Boeing made use of lean techniques in their production system and increased

typical job. Workers should take 367,000 parts, an same number of bolts, rivets, other

cunningly tells us the people in the play are: And liegeman to the Dane , the rivals of my watch
and Friends to the ground . This tells us that Horatio and Marcellus are the good guys and it also
tells us their role in the play the watch.
Also, Shakespeare sets the scene. Dialogue has to compensate for the lack of real night time. He
does this by using dialogue like: Tis now struck twelve and Who s there? Stand and unfold
yourself , and Give you good night. He also tells us what the night is like, Tis bitter cold, and Not a
mouse stirring. This all tells us that the night is cold, quiet, just gone twelve and nothing much is
happening, without the use of real darkness.
Shakespeare also uses hidden stage directions for the actors sake, for instance, Barnado says Get
thee to bed Francisco which is really telling the actor to leave the stage. Shakespeare also says
Barnado hath my place. Give you good night which tells the other actors that he will be leaving
the stage. This also tells the audience that Barnado is taking over his place from then on. Barnado
also says, Sit down a while then Horatio says Well, sit we down which means that they should sit
down.

happening, but at the same time they would be playing their part in the play. For

Why The National Hockey League
The purpose of this research study is to identify the reasons why the National Hockey League
suffers from low television ratings while the National Football League thrives in television ratings.
The NHL has a very avid fan base and attendance in most markets for the sport is consistently high.
However, there seems to be a lack of ability to translate that success to the television viewers. The
National Football Leaguehas been able to successfully bring its product to all fans through the
television and ratings for the NFL are incredible. By identifying the reasons that the NFL has been
able to translate its product through television and why the NHL has struggled, the field of Sport
Management will have a better understanding of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has a strong and avid fan base in the United States and Canada. However, the league
continually struggles to compete with other American professional sports leagues when it
comes to television ratings. Specifically the National Football League is one of the most
successful brands in the sports world and has taken hold as the most popular sport in the United
States today. The questions that need to be answered are how can the NHL market their product
to the consumer through television in a way that can compete with the NFL? Why has the NFL
been so successful where the NHL has not? In what areas of marketing through television can the
NHL improve? How does the sport itself affect the television ratings? Finally, is there a
saturation in the sports television market that does not allow the NHL to reach comparable
television ratings as the NFL? There are three major areas to focus on in this research. First, it
must be determined where the NHL struggles in the television ratings market by taking a look at
all demographic statistics. Secondly, an in depth look into previous research conducted on
television ratings for both the NHL and the NFL. Finally, a breakdown of how each league
presently markets their product with a focus on comparing and contrasting those methods to
determine where the NFL is so successful and where the NHL can improve.
Watching sports on television has become an American pastime in itself. It was not that long ago
when watching

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Young Life Just imagine...you are out in the middle of daunting mountains with ten of your friends and two guides. They are all you have to rely on to survive. Your mind is going crazy thinking of all of the worst possibilities, but all you can do is trust the person next to you to get from point A to point B. In the spring of 2017, I decided to go on a backing tripwith a group called Young Life. Young Life is a christian organization and their main goal is to get high schoolers into a christian environment. I had been going to this club for the whole year and was excited to go on this backpacking trip. I encouraged a couple of my friends and my older brother to go along with me. We planned everything and had a whole checklist of what to bring and what not to bring for the week long trip. The plan was, to hike for three days, then peak the mountainon the fourth day. After a long and fun drive up to the San Juan Mountain range in southern Colorado, we finally arrived. The instant that I got out of the crowded van I was hit with a wave of excitement and anxiety. We are really in the middle of the mountainsabout to enter the woods for five days, I thought to myself. After the quick wave of shock, I was excited to be with my friends embarking on this adventure. We began the hike. The silence was deafening and the sense of fear from the group was palpable. I would try to stay positive and excited, but the fear was overpowering. We hiked for what seemed like forever until we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They ordered the strikers to leave and someone threw a bomb. A policeman was killed, and six more policeman died in the fight that followed. A more lasting labor organization was the American Federation of Labor started by Samuel Gompers. Gompers decided (rightly) that the best strategy for labor was to avoid any connection with radical socialist/anarchist movements, and to make it clear that all workers were after were better wages and working conditions. In 1892, the AFL led a strike at Carnegie Steel s Homestead facility near Pittsburg. The manager of the facility, Henry Clay wanted to break the local union so when union leaders tried to negotiate for a better contract, Frick decided instead to give them a worse contract with lower wages. This led to a strike. In 1894, the Chicago based Pullman Company laid 1/3 of its work force and cut wages by 40% for the remaining workers. At the same time, they kept up the prices in the company stores and the rent for company housing. Naturally enough, the workers went on strike. Eugene Debs, head of the American Railway Workers Union, did what he could to help. His union launched a boycott of all Pullman made cars, refusing to operate a train with Pullman cars until the Pullman company reached an agreement with striking workers. The railroads responding by firing the boycotters, and this led to a walk out by all railroad workers. The trains in Chicago came to a halt. Hoodlums (not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of My Papa s Waltz Due to Theodore Roethke s use of imagery, syntax, and diction, My Papa s Waltz continues to spur passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and students alike. Roethke uses these elements to allow the reader to recognize that he is reminiscing the intricate relationship he and his father shared. Although it is not essential, one could put the historical context into consideration. Evidently, there will always be individuals that see only abuse or a fond memory; however, we will never clearly know what his intention was in regards to the purpose of the poem. As a result, one must come to a realization based on the author s use of diction, syntax, and imagery throughout the poem broken down line by line; in order to fully... When slid from the kitchen shelf is mentioned people immediately assume that he beat his son until the pans slid off the shelf. As for the positive, it can be assumed that there was simply a father playing roughly with his son. Roethke mentions, My mother s countenance/ could not unfrown itself. Could it be that his mother was upset that the father played extremely rough that the pans slid or that she could not do anything about the fact that her son was getting abused. Was there a possibility that she was getting abused too? The reader now begins to ponder whether it is a fond memory, abuse, or both are present. Furthermore, the analysis of the third stanza, relates to the fond memory. Roethke descriptively mentions, The hand that held my wrist/Was battered on one knuckle; The battered knuckle can be a sign of the father s manual labor; on the contrary, it can be the beating of his child leaving his hand injured. Even though, these two points can be argued thoroughly, the following line, At every step you missed/My right ear scraped a buckle. supports the idea that the child could have been playing ... These people live on $1.25 or less a day. Minimum wage is $7.25 in the U.S., and most people work 8 hours a day, so that means they would be getting fifty eight dollars a day. It would take someone in a third world country about forty seven days to make what someone makes in America in 8 hours. And most of them spend that money on food and medical needs, but $1.25 is not enough. In the United States if a family doesn t have enough money for medical help, they can still go see a doctor, but in other countries it s very different. More than 30,000 children die per year from preventable sickness because they can t go see a doctor. And as for food, Americans have access to food every hour of the day. On Going Home By Joan Didion In her essay On Going Home, author Joan Didion speaks to new parents about how the experience of going home after starting a new family can trigger feelings of disconnection between families, old and new. Written from Didion s own experience returning to her childhood home for her daughter s first birthday, the essay describes her nostalgia for her previous home and how she regrets being unable to, as a mother, provide the same familial experiences she had as a child. Using relatable invention, imagery inducing arrangement, and syntax that inspires more deliberate reading by the audience, Didion effectively convinces her readers of the familial fragmentation that occurs with the creation of a nuclear family. Didion s use of the first canon of rhetoric, invention, exemplifies her command of the emotional side of rhetoric. An example is the line, I have another cup of coffee with my mother. We get along very well, veterans of a guerilla war we never understood (Didion par. 3). This line expertly conveys the combative nature of the relationship a mother has with her ... While in discourse with the Corinthians, the polemic language of Paul becomes, at times, difficult to digest. While pursuing a better relationship with the believers in Corinth, the apostle often used terms such as we, our, and us. These pronouns can be understood in multiple ways; however, the manner in which they are comprehended sheds light on Paul s agenda. In the analysis of 2 Corinthians 4: 8 18, the pronouns are best understood as being inclusive in terms of Paul, his followers, and the believers in Corinth. According to a study by Brown, the apostle Paul was likely born in approximately 5 to 10 AD which was during the reign of the emperor Augustus . Paul was a melting pot of several different cultures. At the time, the Hellenistic movement was sweeping the Roman empire; thus the Greek and Roman cultures both had their influences on citizens. So, too, Paul s parents were of Jewish descent; while he was young, they sent him to Jerusalem to study under a Pharisaic instructor . The intermingling of a multiplicity of cultures renders Paul a very diverse teacher. With the ability to assimilate to various aspects of the universal Roman society, the apostle is able to relate to and address many different types of people. The bond between family and clans shapes the powerful warrior s action that would either form an alliance to help protect against enemies or gain enemies. There are many elements that are significant to a person s life. In Beowulf, establishing reputation is one of the most important aspects in life. In the Anglo Saxon culture, when a man has a higher reputation, he will most likely have a stronger respect and trust amongst other warriors. Each character has a reputation that plays a role in society. Having a superior reputation can make someone have a recognition in a part of the history. In every epic poem, a character becoming too concerned with his image is the main flaw that causes problems. The character only thinks about their image and not what is best for them in order to overcome challenges. However, in Beowulf, this pride of reputation helps enhance him as a great warrior. Beowulf is establishing his reputation through his building blocks of challenges he will have encountered. Reputation is the defining concept because Beowulf is constantly concerned of how people view him. In the beginning of the poem, when Beowulf first met the Danes, he was concerned with how their society ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, Isono et al., (2001) reported that coconut oil contained some antimicrobial compounds. The addition of coconut milk while the yoghurt fermentation was already in progress may retard acidity development in yoghurt so produced. This might be consequent upon the inhibitory effect of some chemical compounds present in coconut milk on the yoghurt bacteria that were supposedly in the exponential (active) phases of growth. • 31. Students Of Mattawan s Ap Environmental Class On October 6th 2015, the students of Mattawan s AP Environmental class took a trip to the local stream of the Mattawan Consolidated Schools area. The purpose of this trip was to conduct a stream study to determine the health, conditions, and pollution levels of this small body of water. A multitude of factors came into play when making a judgement on the streams health, and making sure to take all of these essential points was crucial to the study. A variety of thorough experiments were conducted to help make this overlying conclusion, as many students adopted many roles in the study. Students used a physical survey form, water test data sheet, and taxa recording sheet to record their findings. Teamwork was essential in making sure all of this information could be found accurately and efficiently. The combination of all of the final results allowed the class to make a judgement of the stream s state. For the convenience of the students, a packet for recording the stream s content and results was provided. On the first and second page, tables for seeing the taxa types of aquatic macroinvertebrates found were laid out, and students were to check the boxes with the names of the taxa they found in this area. They are defined by what obstacles they have gone through and overcome in order to grow into the person that they are today. Without struggle, there is no progress. No one can self improve unless they are willing and able to overcome the challenges of life. Two important morals in my life are : always making the room to self improve, and valuing my education. Through my American story, I plan to share how I learned to appreciate the meaning of education, and the importance of improving and bettering myself. Guest presentations and readings of other American s narratives this semester, such as the presentation by David Delizza, Gary Shtyengart s novel Super Sad True Love Story, The Narrative of Frederick Douglass , and The chicken in the hen house by David Sedaris, all have made a further emphasis on aspects relevant to my life and my own story as an American. David Delizza, one of our guest speakers, provided excellent advice on the topics of self improvement and education. In David s opinion, education and self improvement are extremely important, and are two factors that have helped him to accomplish many goals in life. She had been told that this would be a positive effect of going transparent, but she had not anticipated other changes. She had not anticipated that being transparent would actually redirect some of her less than perfect habits. The camera s influence caused her to think more carefully about the way she presented herself. When she thoughtof her viewers seeing her choices, she felt pressured to make healthy choices. The character of Manus is rather more complicated than that of Hugh and our perception of him changes as the play develops. During the play Manus refuses to apply for a job at the international school his father applied for because he felt that he couldn t go up against him . This enforces Manus loyalty towards his father and perhaps is an indication of Irish faithfulness compared to English disloyalty; disloyalty which is seen when Yolland explains that his father got him a job but he missed the boat and, not being able to return home and face him, joined the army. Assembling a Boeing 737 is a typical job. Workers should take 367,000 parts, an same number of bolts, rivets, other equipment and 36 miles (58 kilometres) of electrical wire and then keep them all combined to make an airplane [2]. Engineers to machinists were involved in lean (reducing waste) in the factory. By creating an assembly line, aircraft will pass through the workers were they going to concentrate on assembling. Allocating all employees in the factory building and organising special teams helped a lot to solve the errors in the assembly line [2]. Dialogue has to compensate for the lack of real night time. He does this by using dialogue like: Tis now struck twelve and Who s there? Stand and unfold yourself , and Give you good night. He also tells us what the night is like, Tis bitter cold, and Not a mouse stirring. This all tells us that the night is cold, quiet, just gone twelve and nothing much is happening, without the use of real darkness.
