The Impact Of Gratitude On Wellbeing
The Impact of Gratitude on Wellbeing
In a world that seeks answers to everything, people strive for perfection by working on their
strengths and weaknesses. With technological advantages, people aim to live as long as possible
with optimal functioning in the body and mind. It has been a goal of human existence to maintain
ourselves in any way we can. One way this is done is through gratitude, which has been regarded as
universally valuable, tracing back to the beginning of time. Ever since the 1930s, researchers have
tried to measure how effectively gratitude helps people of all backgrounds (Bono, Emmons,
McCullough, 2004). Cultures define gratitude based on the way they perceive it. Western society
regards gratitude as something that is needed during certain times, while poorer societies might rely
on gratitude to help them survive. Although gratitude has different meanings, it has been utilized
for maintaining wellbeing. It has become a question of how well gratitude impacts our wellbeing.
However, before we can understand this relationship, we must define wellbeing.
Wellbeing
Wellbeing, synonymous with happiness, has been defined as the way people describe their lives
and what matters to them (Diener, Lukas, Oishi, 2002). Since it is a person s judgment over their
own life, it is subjective. Thus, it should be understood that wellbeing is subjective, as happiness
has a different meaning for everyone. It has been questioned to what extent wellbeing is affected by

Essay on Minitrucks and their effect on society
Mini Trucking and its Effect on Society
The vehicle code handbook states that any modification done to a vehicle to alter it from its original
state violates the law. That single sentence has created more problems for custom vehicle owners
than can be imagined. Yet, at the same time, it has generated massive amountsof money for the
state of California. Modifying one s vehicle sets it apart from others and makes a statement about
the owner s individuality. Over the past decade, hacking up a vehicle, putting a trick paint job on it,
and developing an out of control sound system has evolved into a sport, not just a hobby. As with
everything, though, there is always someone or something to try and put a stop ... Show more

There are councils for car and truck clubs so the sport stays organized. Police are hired to keep
these vehicles off of the road. When a cop pulls a mini truck over, it s usually because of it being
too low, or having the stereo system up to loud. But when looking over the vehicle a dozen other
violations become apparent. A few of these violations are: no door handles, no windshield wipers, a
tinted windshield, frame modifications, or a after market steering wheel. Yet, despite all of the
repercussions that may come from altering a vehicle, it is the sheer enjoyment of creativity that
gathers so many fans to the sport.
People are always trying to come up with new ways to express their creativity through their
vehicles. Different body or frame modifications can be seen at every truck show, in the parking
lot at the mall, or even driving by on the freeway. Every color imaginable has been painted on the
metal canvas of every type of vehicle on the road today. Some even have multiple colors in
various images displayed on the hoods, sides and tailgates. One of the most popular images of the
past decade are flames. These different displays of creativity are an excellent way to draw wanted
and unwanted attention to the driver and to the vehicle. Imagine this scenario: a mini truck with
bright blue flames stretching from bumper to roll pan, dragging the frame on the ground

Social Class in Great Expectations
In Great Expectations, Pip changed his social class immensely. Pip did not understand how a poor
family could be happy. Pip thought that social class was everything in life. He also thought that
money was very important. In reality, it turns out that money and social rank do not matter in life.
What really matters is being connected and having relationships with family and friends. Pip finds
that out the hard way. In Great Expectations, Pip is exposed to many different social classes, he acts
very differently, he finds out how lonely he becomes, and how family and friends mean everything
in life. Early in life, Pip grew up in a poor and kind of lower class family. As a young child, Pip did

Pip ...gave me the bread and meat without looking at me, as insolently as if I were a dog in
disgrace. I was so humiliated, hurt, spurned, offended, angry, sorry..., (Dickens 64). Pip is
disconcerted and depressed when Estella does that to him in the beginning of the novel. Pip
basically does the same thing to Joe. Not with pleasure, though I was bound to him by so many
ties; no; with considerable disturbance, some mortification, and a keen sense of incongruity. If I
could have kept him away by paying money, I certainly would have paid money, (Dickens 229).
Joe is disrespected and he is mortified by the way Pip treats him. Pip becomes very forlorn while
he is in London. Once he is in London, he does not have many friends like he did before. This
really changes the way he thinks in life. Money changes people and it certainly has a consequence
on Pip as it is shown in the novel. Social class does not really shape Pip into a reputable young
man. That is so because he thinks that he is too good for Joe and Biddy. Not the entire London
trip is appalling. Pip learns some really good skills in London. He learns how to be a gentleman
and he learns correct table manners. It is considered that you must be better educated, in
accordance with your altered position, and that you will be alive to the importance and necessity of
at once entering on that advantage, (Dickens 186). London, Mr. Jaggers, and all of the

Essay on Consumerism Taking Over Our Universities
In contemporary society, the average person is coddled and raised to be sensitive about everything
whether it be good or bad. This translates over to universities, which causes them to be less
academic and more consumer based. As the years progress, the trend is becoming more prevailing
which poses the question, do universities truly care about the education that they are providing, or
is it turning more into a business? Although some consumerism in education is good and is a
driving force to better institutions, too much like we have in it now is beginning to deteriorate the
quality of the education provided and in turn weakening American society. Consumerism is
becoming more widespread in universities due to the rising number of... Show more content on

According to, Grade Inflation in the College Classroom, Students are paying more for a college
education every year, and increasingly they are demanding the reward of a good grade for their
purchase (Tucker, Courts 2). The expectations that the students have going into college are telling
of how consumerism is tarnishing higher education. Consumerism affects students grades,
according to, Grade Inflation in the College Classroom, students are not studying as much as
students in the past and their grades are still on a rise. This shift in focus by the university causes
the classes to become less intense creating a more mediocre education for the students. This harms
students who will have to face the problem of entering the workforce with an inferior education.
Studies have shown that, Many students feel that lower grades can significantly damage their
opportunities to gain employment after attending a university [...] it may be difficult to compete
with a near straight A student from a university that has shown grade inflation, if one s grades are
lower. Many believe that grade inflation gives certain students an unfair advantage in the job
market or when applying to graduate schools (Tucker, Courts 2). If one student goes to a school

В· Why was Bruce Lee so famous, and why is he still thought of as the Master of Chinese Martial

Another interresting thing about Bruce Lee is his true ability to perform martial arts. He
criticized Karate for its brocken motions, and Wing Chun for its flashy techniques. Both, he said,
were not ideal to use in actual combat. This is the reason for the creation of Jeet Kune Do

people from two generations ago. I interviewed my maternal grandmother for this assignment.
We were raised relatively close to the same place, but in majorly different times. Blue Ridge,
Georgia is only 7.5 miles from Cherry Log, Georgia. Quite a few of our answers matched, and I
believe that s because my mother raised me and my two sisters the same way my grandmother
raised her which was influenced by her upbringing. In addition to that, I spent a copious amount

How can human nature be so good and so evil at the same time? How can someone witness, even

Huckleberry Finn is a classic novel telling the story of Huck s journey down the Mississippi
River as he tries to escape the evils of sivilized society and finds freedom and goodness in himself
while floating on a raft down the river. Huck s relationship with three characters in the book

evil. Tom is a childhood friend of Huck s, and also a force against Huck s maturity and sense of
what is right. Unlike Jim, Tom is educated, but has little sense of what is right and wrong. Huck
is more like Jim than Tom because Huck has an innate sense of what is morally right, much like
Jim. Tom, on the other hand, seems to have no sense that his actions are detrimental to others. At
the end of the story, Jim is imprisoned at the Phelp s farm. Huck wants to execute a simple and
effective plan to free Jim, who is shackled in a hut as a punishment for running away. Tom,
however, wants to make this event into a story they can remember, just like in the books he
reads. Tom proposes an elaborate plan to have a pie send to Jim s hut with a rope ladder inside.
Huck goes along with it, despite knowing that the plan is completely unnecessary and cruel to
Jim. This scene shows how Tom challenges Huck s maturity; Jim ain t got no use for a rope
ladder, He has got use for it, (Twain 239). Tom is telling Huck that they need to find a way to get
Jim a rope ladder that he can use to escape. The rope obviously not necessary because they can
simply go and get Jim themselves, but Tom says it is. They end up baking a pie and putting the
rope ladder inside of it, and having the pie delivered to Jim. When the situation with Jim is over,

The Dionne family, was started by father Oliva Eduardo and mother Elzire Dionne, got married
on September 15, 1925.They lived just outside of Corbeil, Ontario, in a farmhouse. The Dionne
s were a family of five previous children: Ernest, Rose Marie, Therese, Daniel and Pauline. The
Dionne s also had three sons after the quintuplets: Oliva Jr, Victor and Claud. The quintuplets
were born on May 28 1934 at approximately 4am. The mother of the quintuplets, Elzire, thought
she was carrying twins because no one at the time thought it was possible to have five babies at
once. Elzire gave birth to five identical girls, there names were (in order of birth) Yvonne,
Annette, Cecile, Emilie and Marie. The quintuplets were born two months premature, weighing
approximately 13 lbs and 6 oz. All the girls were born twenty minutes apart except for Marie, she
was born two minutes after Emilie. The doctor that gave birth to the quintuplets was Dr. Allan
Roy Dafoe. He had a theory that all the girls were made from a single egg cell. Annette and
Yvonne shared the same embryonic sac, Emilie and Marie shared, and it is believed that Cecile
shared the same embryonic sac with a miscarried sixth fetus. Each girl became closest to the sister

Essay On Auditing
Introduction:
The collapse of small or large organizations in recent years; such as Enron Energy has renewed
interest regarding the issue pertaining to fraudulent financial reports, henceforth the conscious
publication of misleading financial information by management to stakeholders. This interest
sparked debates that highlighted the importance of proper reporting and the role that must be
fulfilled by auditors which is yet to be comprehensively determined and agreed upon by industry
leaders, regulators and governments however according PCAOB Chairman В« detecting fraud is
the responsibility of external auditors and that with few exceptions they should find it В»(CFO.com
2004).
In deed the responsibility of auditors is being argued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The change is due to the increase of the size of firms and the volume of transactions, the
responsibility of fraud detection was transferred to the management henceforth internal control.
In the 80 s and because of the technology advancement, the case law declared that in some situations
auditors have the duty to detect fraud.
After the Enron debacle the responsibility of auditors shifted more towards fraud detection as the
scandal highlighted the lack in auditing process with regards to fraud prevention since auditors were
partaking in the fabrication and falsification of accounting statement. Thus auditors legitimized the
falsified financial statement whether through inaptitude to properly conduct their work or conflict
of interest between management and auditors. To sum this view it is important to keep in mind that
researching misrepresentation within financial statement only became recently part of the auditor s
legal obligation.
In a recent research paper, the reason why auditors fail to detect fraud has been highlighted and
exposed through research based methods, by exposing all factor types of auditing failures (Asare,
Wright and Zimmerman 2014, JFIA).
Many causes were revealed by the aforementioned study, primarily, the failure to detect fraud could
be due to the audit process. Hence, the methodology used in conducting audit missions have been
rarely modified and upgraded

This is seen historically in the form of colonialism as well (Marston et al 2016). Most countries
in this region have been colonized by some European powers at some time except for Thailand.
Proximity mattered during colonial period because the time it took to travel by sea used to be
much longer. Europe remains more powerful in this relationship because English remains as the
one of the most popular languages among this region and European investments are influential to
many economies in this area. Europe remains powerful because of its past and present economic
influence in this area. The second global connection is between mainland Southeast Asia and
China (Marston et al 2016). Southeast Asia has historically been the destination for many
Chinese immigrants and is currently under strong Chinese influence as well. The closeness
between the two areas means that the relationship is a strong bi directional one since any action
one country takes can have profound impact on its neighbors. China has more power in this
relationship as seen in the case of the dam construction on Mekong River. According to Mekong
River Dams: Harnessing the Mekong or Killing it? (Nijhuis 2015), the people living in

they can be hard to find and to extract for growth. They may also be difficult to grow into large

The Portrayals Of Native American Indians In Early...
One of the most common threads that can be found in Early American Literature are the
portrayals of the Native American Indians. From their first encounters with the Pilgrims to the
bloody Trail of Tears . While the literary works of art focus mainly on the voyage to the New
World by the explorers and then the settlement of the colonies you will find that the Native
American Indian was at the forefront of the new settlement. Most of the historical data, whether
it is the written word or drawings would depict the Native Americans as brutal savages wielding
hatchets and throwing arrows at the new arrivals, and then in stark contrast you will read
accounts that paint a picture of Native American greeting the voyagers on the beach with food,
animal skins and oils to welcome them. From the writings of William Bradford and Thomas
Hariot you discover how differently the Native Americans were viewed. Each of the authors have
differing opinions of the Native American s they encountered when they reached the new land.
Many embellished stories and tall tales were shared in diaries and letters penned to the eager
listeners, traders, explorers, or prospective settlers of the new land. Their depiction of the Native
Americans depended on any number of different influences including who financed their voyage,
religious beliefs, their role in society, and their audience. One would have to agree that most of the
early settlers were eager to label the Native Americans as blood thirsty

Seduction In The Hours And The Awakening
A shiny, crisp red fruit hangs enticingly off a lush verdant branch; a sly, seductive serpent and a
woman in the nude converse under the sacred tree, and then Eve tentatively reaches up and plucks
the juicy crimson fruit, a look of panic only reflected on her face once she realizes the gravity of
her decision. She picks the forbidden fruit and her ignorance is ripped away from her like a
newspaper on a windy day, and this single act started a trend of succumbing to temptations
throughout humanhistory. Even in the novels The Hours and The Awakening, the characters are
tempted by someone else or a different idea; however, some of these characters exhibit strong self
control and avoid their demise. The fine line between success and failure when it comes to avoiding
temptation is most obviously demonstrated by Edna Pontellier and LauraBrown, and these two
women showcase the destructive power of seductionand the strength of will it takes to deny the
enticement. The allure of the unknown is not exclusive to the female sex either, many men in the
novel also suffer from it, namely Robert Lebrun. The secret snare of temptation is interwoven
throughout the stories, and the sliver of thread can be glimpsed between the inky words. Many
different types of temptations exist in the world, but one of the most prevalent kinds is the
temptation of another human being. The ideal partner, the gold standard of lovers, is a temptation

believe that heading in soccer should not be banned due to the reasons of the physicality that is

Roles Of Women In The Arabian Nights
Bryanna Samuels Dr. Collins Western Heritage 105 01 11 19 2017 The Arabian Nights Men

roles as the men in Arabian Nights. The stories in Arabian Nights give a different insight as to
what was going on during this time. The women were not valued as much as they should have

Children Should Make Our Children
Every parent wants to have a healthy perfect child, but without vaccines we would have so many
sick children that could die from the diseases that are out there today. If we all make sure our
children have their vaccines we would save more lives, save money so that we are not trying to
treat the diseases, and protect the future generations from the new diseases. When deciding
whether or not to have our children get these vaccines, think about all the good things they do
rather than the bad. No one wants to lose a loved one that has just passed of old age let alone
passed because of something that could have been prevented by just a simple vaccine. All parents of
children should make sure that they receive their vaccines because it will change people s lives,
save our country a lot of money, and protect our future generations.
Clearly, there are still plenty of people out there that are not vaccinated and they cannot wait too
long to get their vaccines. The Center of Disease Control estimated that 732,000 American
children were saved from death and 322 million cases of childhood illnesses were prevented
between 1994 and 2014 due to vaccinations (Loria, 2014). Our country needs to come together to
try to make our parents understand why we are pushing to have their children vaccinated so soon.
There are many ways vaccines in the United States can change people s lives and we do not even
realize it because Americans take everything for granted. Just because a disease is lying

The Demise Of The Tobacco Smoking
What some are calling a new fad, may very well be the answer to the demise of the tobacco
smoking epidemic. While it is not likely to happen any time soon, it definitely has the potential.
Electronic cigarettes, also known as vaporizers, are the better alternative to smoking traditional
tobacco cigarettes. They contain less harmful chemicals, are less expensive, and provide a smoother
transition from smokingcigarettes to not smoking at all. It is difficult to comprehend why
generation after generation of people continue to smoke cigarettes despite the fact they are fully
aware of the detrimental effects of the behavior.
Cigarette smoking has been an addictive human habit for more than 600 years and even dates back
to 5000 B.C. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the diagram below shows, the tobacco rod is covered by the cigarette paper. The filter plug is
shrouded by the plug wrap paper, and both are joined together by the tipping paper. King size
cigarettes are typically around 80 mm long and 8 mm in diameter, while containing around 750
mg of tobacco. Filter lengths range 25 30 mm. When the end of a cigarette burns, the smoke from
the combustion moves through the unburned tobacco and filter, then inhaled into the user s
mouth and lungs. Some of the most dangerous elements of smoking are a product of the
combustion. Electronic cigarettes can come in many different shapes and sizes and can be
realistic looking or can be in larger forms with batteries and larger tanks. They all use the same
basic concept as the diagram below shows. When an e cigarette is triggered (either by an inhale or
with a button press) the battery connected to the heating element (atomizer) boils a tiny amount of
liquid (e liquid). This creates a vapor which is inhaled by the user. At no point is anything burned
through the process of combustion so no smoke/ash/tar is ever created (Project Vape).
The most obvious reason for kicking the smoking habit, or never picking it up, is the ridiculous
amount of toxic chemicals found in a cigarette or cigarette smoke. There are over 4000 known
chemicals in some form of the cigarette. The most dangerous of the chemicals would be the

Symmetric Generalized Biderivations On Jordan Ideals
SYMMETRIC GENERALIZED BIDERIVATIONS ON JORDAN IDEALS
IN PRIME RINGS
AHMED ABOUBAKR* , ** AND SANTOS GONZГЃLEZ**
Abstract. Let R be a prime ring with charR 6 = 2. A biadditive symmetric map B :
R Г— R в†’ R is called symmetric biderivation if, for any fixed y в€€ R, the map x в†’ B(x, y) is a
derivation. A symmetric biadditive map G : R Г— R в†’ R is a symmetric generalized biderivation
if for any fixed y в€€ R, the map x в†’ G(x, y) is a generalized derivation of R associated with the
derivation B(., y). In the present paper, we investigate the commutativity of a ring having a
generalized biderivation satisfying certain algebraic conditions. 1. Introduction
Throughout this paper R denotes an associative ring with center Z(R). Recall that R is prime if
aRb = (0) implies that a = 0 or b = 0. R is semiprime if aRa = 0 implies a = 0.
As usual, [x, y] = xy в€’ yx denotes the commutator, and x в
—¦ y = xy + yx denotes the Jordan
product. A ring R is said to be n torsion free, where n 6 = 0 is a positive integer, if whenever na = 0,
with a в€€ R, then a = 0. An additive subgroup J is said to be a Jordan ideal
of R if u в—¦ r в€€ J,
for all u в€€ J and r в€€ R. Clearly every ideal of R is a Jordan ideal of R but the converse is not
true. An additive subgroup U of R is said to be a Lie ideal of R if [u, r] в€€ U , for all u в€€ U and
r в€€ R. If charR = 2, then [x, y] = x в
—¦ y, so assume through this paper charR 6 = 2.
A derivation d : R в†’ R is an additive map such that d(xy) = d(x)y+xd(y) for all x, y в€€ R.

Darlene Druyun and Mike Sears Ethical Violation Essay
Misconduct Shocks the Defense Industry
In 2003 misconduct of conflict of interest laws shocked the defense industry. Serious violations
were committed at The Boeing Company by former top Air Force procurement official Darleen
Druyun who admitted to helping The Boeing Company obtain a $23 billion tanker refueling
contract in exchange for an executive job at the company. While verbally accepting a position with
Lockheed Darlene Druyun did not disclose her job negotiations with a Mike Sears a Chief
Financial officer while overseeing aerial tanker negotiations between Boeing and the U.S. Air force.
This non commitment to ethical behavior and compliance gave Boeing a competitive advantage
while bidding on the contract.

The Categorical theory is ethical only if it is acceptable for everyone to put into practice. Yes, if
this scandal was not brought to the attention of the Boeing and the U.S. Attorneys they may have
gotten away with it. Pulling in the other direction, if everyone lied on bidding contracts and
favored their each other the world would be in chaos. These two theories are contradictory and
leave you to ponder if they are right or wrong, while the categorical theory proves to be unethical.
The pull from the virtue theory challenges Boeing s leadership to change the culture that allowed
violations to occur and to handle the problem before it s too late. Ethics and compliance are all of
our responsibilities as the company motto vs. of the unwritten code of silence and the good old boy
motto. The golden rule establishes a culture that ensures that there is no next time because if there
not careful it can happen again. The investigations took six long years not to mention the world had
changed their view of the Boeing Company. A newspaper headline read Misconduct Shocks
Defense Industry . This National disgrace stands out, because this violation extends beyond
favorable negotiations with Boeing. In this case, Darlene Druyun may have influenced the
competition. Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems and Raytheon (in a unit later sold to L 3
Communications) were also in the running for the contract. Druyun never

Gender Identity And Its Effect On The Way People
Society has a tremendous effect on the way people see themselves as well as the way they see
others. When it comes to sex and gender, these two words are used interchangeably, even though
they are different. Sex is what a person is biologically born with, whereas Gender is how a person
is seen in society, their roles, and their accepted behavior. Genderidentity is a person s inner sense
of being male or female and a display of that. Jayme Poisson writes an article, Parents Keep Child
s Gender Secret, on two parents that decided to raise their newborn child genderless. The couple
also allows their other children to display whichever gender they choose, not conforming with how
they re expected to look and act based on their sex, (Poisson 366). Kwame Anthony Appiah
describes the idea of being able to respect the traditions of others without having to agree with or
understand them in Making Conversation . Women and men are, not surprisingly, treated very
differently in society. In Human Dignity Francis Fukuyama writes about equality and the essence
that humans possess. Society creates a stigma for men who act feminine and women who act
masculine, creating a negative impact on ones gender identity, specifically on the description of
gender roles, and how certain products are marketed.
Gender identity in society is seen as important and necessary. So much so, that raising a genderless
child is seen as taboo. In Poisson s article, she introduces parents Kathy Witterick and

Summary Of Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
The book I read was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, written by J.K. Rowling. The story
takes place at Hogwarts, a school of witchcraft and wizardry. Harry Potter is a student at
Hogwarts, and Ron and Hermione are his best friends. The main focus was a secret chamber
hidden in the school, that has been opened and was opened years before. There were attacks on
the students by a basilisk snake, which was put there by an evil wizard named Voldemort. Harry,
Ron, and Hermione kept searching for clues to find out how the attacks were happening until
they were lead right to the answer. Over all, the book was a good story and was very exciting
and creative. The story begins when Dobby, a small house elf, warns Harry about something bad
in Hogwarts. Something bad did happen. It was the chamber. It was being opened and attacks
were coming from it. Harry was trying to figure out who was planning the attacks, what was in
the chamber, and who opened it. Harry, Hermione, and Ron made assumptions about who
opened it before, and tried to figure out who it was by making potions, spying, and talking to
different people about it. They often met in the girls prefects bathroom to talk. Once when they
were in there making a potion to get ideas out of people, they came across a magical diary by a
person named Tom Riddle. Harry figured out how to work the magic diary and was told that his
friend Poole2 and the professor of magical creatures, Hagrid opened the chamber before, but the

Importance of Early American Women Writers Essay
What could be said to early American women s writers except, thank you? The first American

Today s women raise children, supervise households, and work outside the home with every

her world. Upon Burning in Our House was a simple style poem about the truth put into simple
words, as were all of Bradstreet s poems. Bradstreet tells about faith in God and belongings lost in
the poem. Bradstreet addressed her husband, children, God, and community in her poems. Her
maternal instinct and dedication were present in her writing. In the poem, The Author to Her Book,
Bradstreet compares the poem itself to a child, her child:
Thou ill formed offspring of my feeble brain,
Who after birth did st by my side remain,
Till snatched from thence by friends, less wise than true,
Who thee abroad, exposed to public view,

I cast thee by as one unfit for light,
My visage was so irksome in my sight;
Yet being mine own, at length affection would

I washed thy face, but defects I saw,
And rubbing off a spot, still made a flaw...(Meridian 33.1 14)

Marketing in Business Success
Introduction
Today, marketing plays an important role in business success. Marketing drives successful
organization, but it is often misinterpreted and sometimes gets bad press (Jobber and Ellis
Chadwick, 2013: 4). Peter Drucker stated that the basic function of marketing is to attract and retain
customers at a profit . On the other hand, British Institute of Marketing (BIM) defines Marketing is
the management process for identifying, anticipating and satisfying customer requirements
profitably. Along with rapid globalization, changing information technology, changing consumer
profile and intensity of competition, marketing is more sophisticated than the past (Dalgic and
Yeniceri, 2013). There are many ways for new products approaching the markets. Many companies
use customer oriented marketing as the main strategy, especially in the context of the marketing
mix for their new products. This assignment will discuss customer orientation and its implications
of two factors of the marketing mix: product and price.
I.Customer orientation in context of marketing mix
1.Marketing mix
Based on understanding about customer behaviour, the companies tend to depend on their created
marketing mix to promote new products, which consists originally four key elements (4Ps) namely
product, price, promotion and place. Today, marketing mix is developed and includes other Ps like
physical evidence, processes, and people as critical elements (CIM 2009).

The Death Of The Western World
If she felt any misgiving, my presence would prevent it from being too late, even at the supposed

happier existence, and more refined enjoyments than the sordid realities which the world now
offered... This quote, recorded by Richard Hartley Kennedy, a 19th century British surgeon living
in British India exemplifies the almost macabre fascination with the Hindu rite of widow burning
known as Sati that the Western World has developed over the course of the last several hundred
years. Perhaps, this morbid obsession originated with the Western World seeing in Sati a Romeo

credited to the ensuing human rights controversy that this rite has generated over the course of the
past two hundred years. Regardless as to the reason of why the West has taken an interest in this
rite, I will attempt in this paper to decipher and interpret this ritual mostly through the lens of a
Western philosopher of religion, Mircea Eliade. Eliade, in his work The Sacred and The Profane:

and colors. Specifically near the end of the movie when Scottie falls in his dream, his Vertigo
seems to kick in on overdrive. The implementation of the creeping music, the flashes of colors, the
scared look, and the montage of expressions proves that Vertigo was a form of a thriller movie.
Does Vertigo fit into the genre of thriller? Yes. But does Vertigo fit the thriller genre before, now,
and in the future? That is the question that is going to be answered.
In the beginning of the movie, the audience is thrown into immediate action. At first you see a cop

audiences waits anxiously to see what is going on. Scottie all of a sudden falls and is holding on

The audience can feel his fear of heights. The feel of a thriller movie incapacitates that audience
at this point because they are wondering at the edge of their seats what is going to happen. As the
audience sees the point of view of Scottie looking down onto the ground, they can feel Scottie s
Vertigo. The camera work on that shot was revolutionary in that film period. The camera seems to

Social Security Was Introduced Into Law By Democratic...
Social Security Social Security was introduced into law by Democratic President Franklin D.
Roosevelt. Social Security was a program which would provide financial protection to our most
elderly of citizens. The program over the course of time has evolved and added new branches of
protection such as child, survivor, and dependent benefits. Social Securitywas never created to be an
answer for a comprehensive retirementpackage for people retiring. However in our current society
with plastic cards and increasing debit to income limits, many people do not save for the future.
Many citizens live for today and expect the government to take care of them when they are old
and cannot fend for themselves. In 2011 the first wave of baby boomers began reaching
retirement age and in turn qualifies them to begin drawing from the Social Security System. The
baby boom generation makes up 25 percent of the total United States population (SSA, 2014).
The projected number of people from 2011 to 2030 who will become eligible to receive Old Age
benefits from the Social Security Act will increase by 65 percent (SSA, 2014). This data is
crucial in terms of determining the stability of a system that relies on the paying masses to care
for the elderly few. Many Presidents in the last two decades have created and formed elaborate
panels of specialized individuals to tackle the problem of the long term sustainability of the Social

U.S. Constitution vs. Jamaican Constitution
Upon initial consideration, one would presume that the United States Constitution and the

ratified in 1787, whereas the Jamaican Constitution was not ratified until 1962, the year Jamaica
gained its independence. At first glance, Jamaica s constitution appears to be most similar to that of
England, because they both establish a parliament and share the same chief of state (Queen

As with the U.S., bills may be introduced by any member of either house, and approved by both

The Spiritual Journey Of Jesus
Introduction
I have chosen Worship as my most favoured Christian discipline. Worship comes to me as a
natural practice to give thanks and gratitude to Jesus for all he s done and is doing for all
humanity. I praise and pray on a daily basis, either through quiet reflective time in prayer to
listening to worship music in the car, work and at home. Worship allows me to give thanks for
the incredible gifts Jesus has given me and keeps my mind focused my spiritual journey in Jesus.
Jesus is worth all the worship and praise as it says in Romans 12:1 2: I urge you therefore, brethren,
by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God which
is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by
the renewing of your mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and
acceptable, or well pleasing and perfect. Summarise your original understanding of the discipline
before the course started Being a new Christian I quickly learnt symbolic acts of worship involved
singing, praising and partaking in communion at Sunday church. Worship to me is about giving
thanks to the Trinity. Remembering how much Jesus loves us and what he endured on the cross for
us is a vital part of remembrance through worship through partaking in the communion. I didn t
realise that through worship I would receive such clarity and truth through the Holy Spirit and a
knowing that God sent his only son

Modern Day Radio Research Paper
Between the telephone and the telegraph, one object sits perfectly between, claiming the award
for best electrical invention. The modern day radio is a perfect hybrid between these two
extravagant things. Of course, many inventions are to be thanked for leading the way to this
timeless possession, and the same can be said about the radio itself. Still used today, the
applications are endless. Before we knew what to do with radio waves, a fast form of
communication over long distances was to use a telegraph. Samuel Morse and the other inventors
found a way to transmit electrical signals over a wire. Using a series of dots and dashes, Morse Code
was revolutionary. In reality, however, it was merely a phase.

The Importance Of College Writing
I learned the slang phrase One and done in the NBA (National Basketball Association) Draft this
summer. For non basketball fans, it simply means that aspiring basketball players will try to get
themselves drafted in the NBA after completing only one year in college. During the NBA draft
night, the player may or may not get drafted depending on if their skills are viewed by the
managers and coaches enough to play in the professional level. Throughout my college writing
experience, I have been a One and done kind of writer. In this case, it means turning in the first
drafts of the papers I write without major revision, something that I regret not doing. Not only
because of the not so great feedbacks and grades that I got but also because I knew that I could
have done better but for some reasons I decided not to.
According to The Writing Process by Michael E. Adelstein, Once you understand why you seem
to be naturally adverse to revision, you may overcome your resistance. (18) In order to
overcome my refusal to revision when it comes to my writing process, I provided the analyses of
the different reasons why I turned into a One and done writer in the next few paragraphs.
Analyzing these reasons would help me not only to include revision as part of my own writing
process but to also maybe learn how to make it enjoyable.
Coming up with the first draft of a paper is a long process itself that is why doing the revision feels
like a tedious process. As someone who does not

Defining Meteorology

Final Project
Spring 2016
1) Defining Climate, Weather, and Meteorology.
The field of meteorology is a science that incorporates distinctive terminology. Unfortunately, some
of these terms meanings have a tendency to be portrayed inaccurately. It could be argued that the
most familiar concepts falsely defined would be the meteorology terms weather and climate. It is
important to provide a distinction between weather, climate, and the field of meteorology.
When discussing atmospheric conditions over a long period of time (e.g. for several years) at a
particular surface area, the climate is being analysed. It is distinct from weather in that climate
focuses on a longer period of time over a specific area while ... Show more content on

Updrafts in a single cell thunderstorm produce precipitation. Surrounding conditions cause this
precipitation to become too heavy for a cloud to carry. The precipitation falls from the cloud which
drops the air temperature and forms a downdraft. The evaporation by this precipitation produces a
cooling effect that infiltrates the updraft when the downdraft and updraft finally interact. With help
from the coolness produced by evaporation, the updraft is eradicated by the downdraft. Ordinary
single cell thunderstorms live a short cycle because of the short time it takes for the updraft and
downdraft to interact. This short cycle also functions to prohibit the growth of severe

The Iron Giant Character Analysis
Griffin Sikes
Christian Beliefs
15 November 2017
The Iron Giant was a movie that I believe had many different theological theme. But for me the
one theme that stuck out the most was of Christ and his sacrifice for us. Just like Christ
sacrificed his life for us The Iron Giant sacrificed himself for the people of Rockwell. In this paper
we are going to look at how The Iron Giant and the journey Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for us are
similar, we will also look at how we are supposed to live life like a child.
In order for us to look at this movie theologically we have to know what happened. In this movie
a 50 foot tall robot crash lands on earth. He is later found by Hogarth Hough and they become
friends and they do a lot of stuff together. Eventually the army gets called and they try and destroy
this monster but this just made the giant mad and he began defending himself. At the end of the
movie and bomb is launched at the giant that will kill everyone. The Iron Giant decides to sacrifice
himself for his friend and the people of Rockwell.
The first thing I want to point out was this line from Kent Mansley who said.
No, Marv. Big things happen in big places, and the sooner I file my report, the sooner I can get back
to them. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0129167/quotes)
I point this out because people didn t think big things could come out of a small town like
Rockwell. Just like people not thinking something good could come out of Rockwell,

In the passive investment space that ABC Company operates, efficient markets dictate that

Operating ABC has traditionally competed on operating efficiency thus, ABC may not have
operating expertise necessary to compete extensively on analytics. ABC needs to create an
organizational level of expertise through the implementation of IT architecture, data scientist
skillsets, and a comprehensive objective to implement these tools and skills. ABC is well
positioned to compete on analytics. On the investment side, ABC is on the leading edge of using
quantitative analysis to deliver investment value, however on the business side ABC s regulatory,
contractual, and operating constraints dictate that it is in the early stages of creating a client facing
analytics advantage. ABC s Position Four Pillars 1.Distinctive Capability ABC has a demonstrated
capability to use analytics to create a competitive advantage from an investment management
standpoint. Millions of data points must be continuously analyzed to ensure passive stock and bond
investments, totaling in the trillions of dollars, are efficiently managed for performance and risk.
On the client side the diverse business structures and the prior focus on efficient operations has to

Zizek on Ideology and the Relationship Between Ideology and The Real
Slavoj Zizek is one of the leading theorists on ideology since the 1990 s and his conceptions of the
real versus the symbolic versus the imagined are of particular importance when dissecting the
question what is ideology? Zizek s critique of ideology and attempt to unpack it s inner workings
is fascinating, he is a powerful intellectual who aims to expose the fake workings of society. In this
paper I will outline Zizek s definition and approach to the study of ideology, paying particular
attention to the relationships he draws between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ideology is a system, he argues, of principles, views, theories destined to convince us of its truth ,
yet actually serving some unavowed particular power interest (p.10). An example Zizek presents to
illustrate this point is the way media portrayed the conflict and cause of the Bosnian war. News
coverage consisted of innumerable accounts of the histories of not only Yugoslavia but the entire
history of the Balkan s from medieval times (p.5). This incredible amount of information, of the
struggles and relations between Bosnia and other countries over decades, if not centuries, gives
audiences the impression that they must know and understand all the background information of
this issue if they are to have an opinion on it or take sides, again presenting countless hours of
information and debate on the issue. Zizek explains that although this is a sort of inversion of what
we normally constitute as ideological messaging, and it is unlike the misrepresentation and
incessant demonization of Saddam Hussein which was circulated to give justice to entering into the
Iraq war, the Bosnian war ideological messaging that took place is in fact more cunning, the over
exaggerated and false demonization of Saddam Hussein. because to put it somewhat crudely, the
evocation of the complexity of circumstances serves

Selling A Home Is A Real Estate Agent Essay
Selling a home can be a daunting task for a professional real estate agent. With property
promotion, open houses and a fluctuating market, trial and error usually wins out over book
knowledge and written rules. But, what about the homeowner who decides to sell their home
without the help of a professional. Believe it or not, you may find some of your greatest help in
comp homes. When placing your homeon the market for sale, you will inevitably look in your
neighborhood for other comp homes also for sale. Competitively pricing your home will draw in
potential buyers more quickly than pricing your home out of the range of other comp homes in
the area. This pricing model only works if you can find a comp home in your neighborhood. But,
how will you know if a home is comparable? Homeowners should always look at their rival
competition for help in selling a home. Visiting the open houses of other homes in the area, or
arranging for a walk through with the owners or real estateagent handling the sale, will help you
to gauge the home s condition, in comparison to your home. This tactic is also helpful for
homeowners selling a home without a real estate agent. Seeing how a real estate agent offers the
information about the comp home, viewing the real estate agent s fliers and promotion sheets, as
well as, seeing the changes or key points a real estate agent stresses during a walk through will
help you to better understand how you should be handling those aspects of your sale.

Zara Global Chain Essay
Introduction The global apparel chain had been categorized as a typical example of a buyer
driven global chain. The Chain is operating independently and is responsible for its own strategy,
product design, sourcing and manufacturing, distribution, image, personnel, and financial results.
Zara was the largest and most internationalized chain of Inditex, which is its owner, and on
account being a better established chain it expanded into neighbouring markets (Z8). Zara
played the lead role in increasing the share of Inditex s sales accounted for by international
operations and it continued to be the principal driver of the group s growth despite the expected
slight drop in the share of the group s total sales (Z9). Zara will be analysed based on strategic
capability, core competences and assets routines and values criteria, predominantly on resource
based view. The resource based view can be described as the competitive advantage of an
organization explained by the uniqueness of its capabilities (Johnson, Scholes, Whittington, 2005).
In addition to this, by that the firms are recognized as internally heterogeneous and possess
exclusive masses of resources (McGee, Thomas, Wilson, 2010). Furthermore, the resource based
view emphasizes the internal capabilities of the organization in formulation strategy to achieve a
sustainable competitive advantage in its markets and industries (Henry, 2011). Strategic Capability
Firstly, we assess and define Zara s strategic capability.

DNA: Interactions between Proteins
Deoxyribonucleic Acid is a molecule that contains the genetic makeup of almost all living
organisms. While Deoxyribonucleic Acid, or DNA, has been successfully mapped out, many of its
interactions with certain proteins and enzymes have not been fully revealed within the atomic level.
The history and mysteries of DNA continue to fascinate biologists and chemists alike. However,
we must question, who was the first to discover DNA, and what scientists have done to further
enhance our understanding of it? In short, DNA was first isolated by physician Friedrich Miescher
in 1869; in 1937, William Astbury became the first person to produce an x ray diffraction pattern of
the DNA molecule. Sixteen years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, adenine may only bind with thymine with two hydrogen bonds, and guanine may only
bind with cytosine with three hydrogen bonds. In broader perspective, purines may only bond with
pyrimidines. Adenine and guanines are the purines, due to their double ring molecular structure,
while thymine and cytosine are the pyrimidines due to there single ring structure. In addition the
strands of DNA are connected together between base pairs, through Hydrogen bonding. While
each base pair may only bind with its complimentary base pair, it is the sequence of the base pairs
that creates such genetic diversity amongst living organisms around the world. As scientists further
investigate the atomic structure and function of DNA, DNA replication is also being further
examined. During DNA replication, multiple enzymes, such as DNA Ligase, DNA Helicase, and
DNA polymerase assist in unwinding the DNA double strand into single stranded DNA
(essentially an unwinding of the DNA in which the hydrogen bonds are broken separating the two
strands) which would latter be used as a template for the creation of a new single DNA strand.
DNA is thus widely known as the genetic material for almost all living organisms. Although DNA
replication is in general understood, its atomic structure and interactions (between DNA and its
proteins and enzymes) are not. Hence, we must begin to

In this paper, use of Moringa oleifera seeds for purifying water is discussed. A study was carried
out to know the efficiency of Moringa oleifera seed suspension for removal of turbidity and
hardness of water. Turbid water sample of low turbidity (50 mg/L) was prepared in the
laboratory using bentonite clay, kaolin clay and black cotton soil. Moringa oleifera seed
suspension was added as coagulant in concentration of 20, 40, 60, and 80 mg/L. The hardness
removal efficiency was checked on water sample from tube well in the vicinity of Aurangabad
city (India). The initial hardness of water sample was 284 mg/L. The dosages of Moringa
Oleifera seed suspension were 125, 250, 375 and 500 mg/L. In addition to hardness, effect on pH,
electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids and salinity was also studied. Moringa Oleifera seed
suspension was found to be effective in treating the water.

Pliny The Elder Summary
INDUSTRY S KNOWLEDGE OF THE HARMFUL EFFECTS
Numerous authors believe that the risks associated with asbestos exposure were known more than
2000 years ago when Greek Geographer Strabo pointed out that slaves who wove asbestos into
clothes developed a sickness of the lung and that a similar observation was also made on asbestos
miners, by Pliny the Elder, a Roman naturalist.3,9,120 However, Browne et al describes Strabo s
and Pliny s stories to be inaccurate due to mistranslation. He points out that Strabo was referring
to arsenic disulphide, and that Elder Pliny was referring to sulphide of mercury, and not
asbestos.121 Regardless of the accuracy of these anecdotes, there is a myriad of evidence of early
knowledge of asbestos s health danger. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Daniel Jenkins, testified for the asbestos insulation manufacturers for several years. Also, Dr.
Leary, a physician specialized in chest diseases who worked for Travelers Insurance Company,
diagnosed Tomplait with emphysema, and did not mention asbestosis. Leary s finding was
completely refuted when Dr. Selikoff reviewed Tomplait s X rays and said that his diagnosis of
extensive pulmonary asbestosis is as certain as anything can be in medicine . Asbestos
manufacturing companies and their lawyer similarly, denied knowledge of the association
between asbestos exposure and lung disease, and argued consistently in every lawsuit that this
association wasn t known until Selikoff s landmark article that was published in 1964. It was
made conspicuous, however, that literally hundreds of studies were published in the 1920s and
1930s on the association between asbestos exposure and asbestosis. Stephenson was also able to
compile a bibliography of 86 articles on asbestosis most of them published before 1938. Another
example of the unethical conduct was what Dr. Cooper (an occupational health professor) said
about not being able to have known that a 15% asbestos product would be unsafe in 1961, and
that the early studies conducted in England, were on workers who were exposed to a lot heavier
asbestos dust. Dr. Cooper also referred to a study conducted in 1945 by Fleisher et al that found
low incidence (0.3%) of asbestosis among asbestos pipe covers (3 out of 1074). Despite the low
incidence, the authors recommended the use of exhaust ventilation and to keep the total dust
concentration low. In Fleisher s study125, the majority (95%) of workers had been employed for
less than 10 years, way less than the needed latency period to develop the disease. It is also a

turns things in an opposite direction of where they were pointed. In Cuba, this was under Prime
Minister, Fidel Castro. Born on August 13, 1926 in the wedlock at his father s farm, Castro
would live here until age 8 when he would go live with his teacher. He was not well behaved, and
would find himself traveling in out of different schools. He did not excel academically and found
his place in sports instead. Although not extremely disciplined to work, he attended The University

This lead to a mess and they did not get the results in their favor. Castro was sent to prison with
many others and many were executed. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but something was
bound to change, this was not the end.
When the presidential elections came up, Batista said Castro was no threat and released him out of
prison. In 1955, bombings and violence broke out, and Fidel and his brother, Raul left Cuba to
escape the chance of being arrested. After many battles he faced, he was sworn in as the Prime
Minister of Cuba on February 16, 1959. Castro s government was focused on making Cuba s
standards of living better. He focused on education, and opened many new education systems. His
force or regime remained popular with the lower class, while the upper and middle class did not
like him and emigrated to Florida. Conservative press showed disapproval towards his government,
Castro started arresting people who would show any signs of retaliation.
While relations with United States and Cuba were dwindling, Castro and Khrushchev, the
Russian Leader at the time were growing a tighter bond. Many event s occurred during Castro s
leadership position including the Bay of Pigs Invasion. This was when the United States was
trying to rise up and overthrow Castro. The CIAs made it seem like a great idea to Kennedy,
president at the time, and it lead to Cuba losing many men, and also led to the Cuban Missile

  • 2. The Impact Of Gratitude On Wellbeing The Impact of Gratitude on Wellbeing In a world that seeks answers to everything, people strive for perfection by working on their strengths and weaknesses. With technological advantages, people aim to live as long as possible with optimal functioning in the body and mind. It has been a goal of human existence to maintain ourselves in any way we can. One way this is done is through gratitude, which has been regarded as universally valuable, tracing back to the beginning of time. Ever since the 1930s, researchers have tried to measure how effectively gratitude helps people of all backgrounds (Bono, Emmons, McCullough, 2004). Cultures define gratitude based on the way they perceive it. Western society regards gratitude as something that is needed during certain times, while poorer societies might rely on gratitude to help them survive. Although gratitude has different meanings, it has been utilized for maintaining wellbeing. It has become a question of how well gratitude impacts our wellbeing. However, before we can understand this relationship, we must define wellbeing. Wellbeing Wellbeing, synonymous with happiness, has been defined as the way people describe their lives and what matters to them (Diener, Lukas, Oishi, 2002). Since it is a person s judgment over their own life, it is subjective. Thus, it should be understood that wellbeing is subjective, as happiness has a different meaning for everyone. It has been questioned to what extent wellbeing is affected by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Minitrucks and their effect on society Mini Trucking and its Effect on Society The vehicle code handbook states that any modification done to a vehicle to alter it from its original state violates the law. That single sentence has created more problems for custom vehicle owners than can be imagined. Yet, at the same time, it has generated massive amountsof money for the state of California. Modifying one s vehicle sets it apart from others and makes a statement about the owner s individuality. Over the past decade, hacking up a vehicle, putting a trick paint job on it, and developing an out of control sound system has evolved into a sport, not just a hobby. As with everything, though, there is always someone or something to try and put a stop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are councils for car and truck clubs so the sport stays organized. Police are hired to keep these vehicles off of the road. When a cop pulls a mini truck over, it s usually because of it being too low, or having the stereo system up to loud. But when looking over the vehicle a dozen other violations become apparent. A few of these violations are: no door handles, no windshield wipers, a tinted windshield, frame modifications, or a after market steering wheel. Yet, despite all of the repercussions that may come from altering a vehicle, it is the sheer enjoyment of creativity that gathers so many fans to the sport. People are always trying to come up with new ways to express their creativity through their vehicles. Different body or frame modifications can be seen at every truck show, in the parking lot at the mall, or even driving by on the freeway. Every color imaginable has been painted on the metal canvas of every type of vehicle on the road today. Some even have multiple colors in various images displayed on the hoods, sides and tailgates. One of the most popular images of the past decade are flames. These different displays of creativity are an excellent way to draw wanted and unwanted attention to the driver and to the vehicle. Imagine this scenario: a mini truck with bright blue flames stretching from bumper to roll pan, dragging the frame on the ground ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pip thought that social class was everything in life. He also thought that money was very important. In reality, it turns out that money and social rank do not matter in life. What really matters is being connected and having relationships with family and friends. Pip finds that out the hard way. In Great Expectations, Pip is exposed to many different social classes, he acts very differently, he finds out how lonely he becomes, and how family and friends mean everything in life. Not with pleasure, though I was bound to him by so many ties; no; with considerable disturbance, some mortification, and a keen sense of incongruity. If I could have kept him away by paying money, I certainly would have paid money, (Dickens 229). Joe is disrespected and he is mortified by the way Pip treats him. Pip becomes very forlorn while he is in London. Once he is in London, he does not have many friends like he did before. This really changes the way he thinks in life. Money changes people and it certainly has a consequence on Pip as it is shown in the novel. Social class does not really shape Pip into a reputable young man. That is so because he thinks that he is too good for Joe and Biddy. Not the entire London trip is appalling. Pip learns some really good skills in London. He learns how to be a gentleman and he learns correct table manners. It is considered that you must be better educated, in accordance with your altered position, and that you will be alive to the importance and necessity of at once entering on that advantage, (Dickens 186). This translates over to universities, which causes them to be less academic and more consumer based. As the years progress, the trend is becoming more prevailing which poses the question, do universities truly care about the education that they are providing, or is it turning more into a business? The doctor that gave birth to the quintuplets was Dr. Allan Roy Dafoe. He had a theory that all the girls were made from a single egg cell. Annette and Yvonne shared the same embryonic sac, Emilie and Marie shared, and it is believed that Cecile shared the same embryonic sac with a miscarried sixth fetus. Essay On Auditing Introduction: The collapse of small or large organizations in recent years; such as Enron Energy has renewed interest regarding the issue pertaining to fraudulent financial reports, henceforth the conscious publication of misleading financial information by management to stakeholders. This interest sparked debates that highlighted the importance of proper reporting and the role that must be fulfilled by auditors which is yet to be comprehensively determined and agreed upon by industry leaders, regulators and governments however according PCAOB Chairman В« detecting fraud is the responsibility of external auditors and that with few exceptions they should find it В»(CFO.com 2004). The change is due to the increase of the size of firms and the volume of transactions, the responsibility of fraud detection was transferred to the management henceforth internal control. In the 80 s and because of the technology advancement, the case law declared that in some situations auditors have the duty to detect fraud. After the Enron debacle the responsibility of auditors shifted more towards fraud detection as the scandal highlighted the lack in auditing process with regards to fraud prevention since auditors were partaking in the fabrication and falsification of accounting statement. Thus auditors legitimized the falsified financial statement whether through inaptitude to properly conduct their work or conflict of interest between management and auditors. To sum this view it is important to keep in mind that researching misrepresentation within financial statement only became recently part of the auditor s legal obligation. In a recent research paper, the reason why auditors fail to detect fraud has been highlighted and exposed through research based methods, by exposing all factor types of auditing failures (Asare, Wright and Zimmerman 2014, JFIA). Many causes were revealed by the aforementioned study, primarily, the failure to detect fraud could be due to the audit process. Hence, the methodology used in conducting audit missions have been rarely modified and upgraded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Europe remains more powerful in this relationship because English remains as the one of the most popular languages among this region and European investments are influential to many economies in this area. • 15. The Portrayals Of Native American Indians In Early... One of the most common threads that can be found in Early American Literature are the portrayals of the Native American Indians. From their first encounters with the Pilgrims to the bloody Trail of Tears . While the literary works of art focus mainly on the voyage to the New World by the explorers and then the settlement of the colonies you will find that the Native American Indian was at the forefront of the new settlement. Most of the historical data, whether it is the written word or drawings would depict the Native Americans as brutal savages wielding hatchets and throwing arrows at the new arrivals, and then in stark contrast you will read accounts that paint a picture of Native American greeting the voyagers on the beach with food, animal skins and oils to welcome them. From the writings of William Bradford and Thomas Hariot you discover how differently the Native Americans were viewed. Each of the authors have differing opinions of the Native American s they encountered when they reached the new land. Many embellished stories and tall tales were shared in diaries and letters penned to the eager listeners, traders, explorers, or prospective settlers of the new land. Their depiction of the Native Americans depended on any number of different influences including who financed their voyage, religious beliefs, their role in society, and their audience. Seduction In The Hours And The Awakening A shiny, crisp red fruit hangs enticingly off a lush verdant branch; a sly, seductive serpent and a woman in the nude converse under the sacred tree, and then Eve tentatively reaches up and plucks the juicy crimson fruit, a look of panic only reflected on her face once she realizes the gravity of her decision. She picks the forbidden fruit and her ignorance is ripped away from her like a newspaper on a windy day, and this single act started a trend of succumbing to temptations throughout humanhistory. Even in the novels The Hours and The Awakening, the characters are tempted by someone else or a different idea; however, some of these characters exhibit strong self control and avoid their demise. The fine line between success and failure when it comes to avoiding temptation is most obviously demonstrated by Edna Pontellier and LauraBrown, and these two women showcase the destructive power of seductionand the strength of will it takes to deny the enticement. The allure of the unknown is not exclusive to the female sex either, many men in the novel also suffer from it, namely Robert Lebrun. The secret snare of temptation is interwoven throughout the stories, and the sliver of thread can be glimpsed between the inky words. In the Arabian Nights, women play a very empowering role. It seems that in most cases the women are equal to the men and play the same roles as the men in Arabian Nights. The stories in Arabian Nights give a different insight as to what was going on during this time. The women were not valued as much as they should have been, they were often punished for not being as womanly as the man would like them to be. If we all make sure our children have their vaccines we would save more lives, save money so that we are not trying to treat the diseases, and protect the future generations from the new diseases. When deciding whether or not to have our children get these vaccines, think about all the good things they do rather than the bad. No one wants to lose a loved one that has just passed of old age let alone passed because of something that could have been prevented by just a simple vaccine. All parents of children should make sure that they receive their vaccines because it will change people s lives, save our country a lot of money, and protect our future generations. Clearly, there are still plenty of people out there that are not vaccinated and they cannot wait too long to get their vaccines. The Center of Disease Control estimated that 732,000 American children were saved from death and 322 million cases of childhood illnesses were prevented between 1994 and 2014 due to vaccinations (Loria, 2014). • 23. Symmetric Generalized Biderivations On Jordan Ideals SYMMETRIC GENERALIZED BIDERIVATIONS ON JORDAN IDEALS IN PRIME RINGS AHMED ABOUBAKR* , ** AND SANTOS GONZГЃLEZ** Abstract. Let R be a prime ring with charR 6 = 2. A biadditive symmetric map B : R Г— R в†’ R is called symmetric biderivation if, for any fixed y в€€ R, the map x в†’ B(x, y) is a derivation. A symmetric biadditive map G : R Г— R в†’ R is a symmetric generalized biderivation if for any fixed y в€€ R, the map x в†’ G(x, y) is a generalized derivation of R associated with the derivation B(., y). In the present paper, we investigate the commutativity of a ring having a generalized biderivation satisfying certain algebraic conditions. 1. Introduction Throughout this paper R denotes an associative ring with center Z(R). Recall that R is prime if aRb = (0) implies that a = 0 or b = 0. R is semiprime if aRa = 0 implies a = 0. As usual, [x, y] = xy в€’ yx denotes the commutator, and x в —¦ y = xy + yx denotes the Jordan product. A ring R is said to be n torsion free, where n 6 = 0 is a positive integer, if whenever na = 0, with a в€€ R, then a = 0. An additive subgroup J is said to be a Jordan ideal of R if u в—¦ r в€€ J, for all u в€€ J and r в€€ R. Clearly every ideal of R is a Jordan ideal of R but the converse is not true. An additive subgroup U of R is said to be a Lie ideal of R if [u, r] в€€ U , for all u в€€ U and r в€€ R. If charR = 2, then [x, y] = x в —¦ y, so assume through this paper charR 6 = 2. A derivation d : R в†’ R is an additive map such that d(xy) = d(x)y+xd(y) for all x, y в€€ R. An additive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These two theories are contradictory and leave you to ponder if they are right or wrong, while the categorical theory proves to be unethical. • 25. Gender Identity And Its Effect On The Way People Society has a tremendous effect on the way people see themselves as well as the way they see others. When it comes to sex and gender, these two words are used interchangeably, even though they are different. Sex is what a person is biologically born with, whereas Gender is how a person is seen in society, their roles, and their accepted behavior. Genderidentity is a person s inner sense of being male or female and a display of that. Jayme Poisson writes an article, Parents Keep Child s Gender Secret, on two parents that decided to raise their newborn child genderless. The couple also allows their other children to display whichever gender they choose, not conforming with how they re expected to look and act based on their sex, (Poisson 366). Kwame Anthony Appiah describes the idea of being able to respect the traditions of others without having to agree with or understand them in Making Conversation . Women and men are, not surprisingly, treated very differently in society. In Human Dignity Francis Fukuyama writes about equality and the essence that humans possess. Society creates a stigma for men who act feminine and women who act masculine, creating a negative impact on ones gender identity, specifically on the description of gender roles, and how certain products are marketed. On the other hand, British Institute of Marketing (BIM) defines Marketing is the management process for identifying, anticipating and satisfying customer requirements profitably. Along with rapid globalization, changing information technology, changing consumer profile and intensity of competition, marketing is more sophisticated than the past (Dalgic and Yeniceri, 2013). There are many ways for new products approaching the markets. Many companies use customer oriented marketing as the main strategy, especially in the context of the marketing mix for their new products. This assignment will discuss customer orientation and its implications of two factors of the marketing mix: product and price. I.Customer orientation in context of marketing mix 1.Marketing mix Based on understanding about customer behaviour, the companies tend to depend on their created marketing mix to promote new products, which consists originally four key elements (4Ps) namely product, price, promotion and place. Today, marketing mix is developed and includes other Ps like physical evidence, processes, and people as critical elements (CIM 2009). 2.What is customer orientation? ... But her look of reply was quite sufficient; she had not come without counting the cost. Her belief in the Pythagorean doctrine of transmigration was firm and fixed; and she looked forward, without a doubt, to secure for herself and her husband, by this sacrifice, a new life of happier existence, and more refined enjoyments than the sordid realities which the world now offered... This quote, recorded by Richard Hartley Kennedy, a 19th century British surgeon living in British India exemplifies the almost macabre fascination with the Hindu rite of widow burning known as Sati that the Western World has developed over the course of the last several hundred years. Perhaps, this morbid obsession originated with the Western World seeing in Sati a Romeo and Juliette like expression of true love. Subsequently, the West s fascination can perhaps be credited to the ensuing human rights controversy that this rite has generated over the course of the past two hundred years. Regardless as to the reason of why the West has taken an interest in this rite, I will attempt in this paper to decipher and interpret this ritual mostly through the lens of a Western philosopher of religion, Mircea Eliade. Social Security was a program which would provide financial protection to our most elderly of citizens. The program over the course of time has evolved and added new branches of protection such as child, survivor, and dependent benefits. Social Securitywas never created to be an answer for a comprehensive retirementpackage for people retiring. However in our current society with plastic cards and increasing debit to income limits, many people do not save for the future. Many citizens live for today and expect the government to take care of them when they are old and cannot fend for themselves. In 2011 the first wave of baby boomers began reaching retirement age and in turn qualifies them to begin drawing from the Social Security System. The projected number of people from 2011 to 2030 who will become eligible to receive Old Age benefits from the Social Security Act will increase by 65 percent (SSA, 2014). Worship comes to me as a natural practice to give thanks and gratitude to Jesus for all he s done and is doing for all humanity. I praise and pray on a daily basis, either through quiet reflective time in prayer to listening to worship music in the car, work and at home. Worship allows me to give thanks for the incredible gifts Jesus has given me and keeps my mind focused my spiritual journey in Jesus. Jesus is worth all the worship and praise as it says in Romans 12:1 2: I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable, or well pleasing and perfect. In broader perspective, purines may only bond with pyrimidines. Adenine and guanines are the purines, due to their double ring molecular structure, while thymine and cytosine are the pyrimidines due to there single ring structure. In addition the strands of DNA are connected together between base pairs, through Hydrogen bonding. While each base pair may only bind with its complimentary base pair, it is the sequence of the base pairs that creates such genetic diversity amongst living organisms around the world. As scientists further investigate the atomic structure and function of DNA, DNA replication is also being further examined. During DNA replication, multiple enzymes, such as DNA Ligase, DNA Helicase, and DNA polymerase assist in unwinding the DNA double strand into single stranded DNA (essentially an unwinding of the DNA in which the hydrogen bonds are broken separating the two strands) which would latter be used as a template for the creation of a new single DNA strand. Asbestos manufacturing companies and their lawyer similarly, denied knowledge of the association between asbestos exposure and lung disease, and argued consistently in every lawsuit that this association wasn t known until Selikoff s landmark article that was published in 1964. It was made conspicuous, however, that literally hundreds of studies were published in the 1920s and 1930s on the association between asbestos exposure and asbestosis. Stephenson was also able to compile a bibliography of 86 articles on asbestosis most of them published before 1938. Another example of the unethical conduct was what Dr. Cooper (an occupational health professor) said about not being able to have known that a 15% asbestos product would be unsafe in 1961, and that the early studies conducted in England, were on workers who were exposed to a lot heavier asbestos dust. Dr. Cooper also referred to a study conducted in 1945 by Fleisher et al that found low incidence (0.3%) of asbestosis among asbestos pipe covers (3 out of 1074). Despite the low incidence, the authors recommended the use of exhaust ventilation and to keep the total dust concentration low. In Fleisher s study125, the majority (95%) of workers had been employed for less than 10 years, way less than the needed latency period to develop the disease. It is also a ... • 56. The Life of Fidel Castro Essay Fidel Castro Throughout history, when you look back, you find many countries that fall under a control that turns things in an opposite direction of where they were pointed. In Cuba, this was under Prime Minister, Fidel Castro. Born on August 13, 1926 in the wedlock at his father s farm, Castro would live here until age 8 when he would go live with his teacher. He was not well behaved, and would find himself traveling in out of different schools. He did not excel academically and found his place in sports instead. Although not extremely disciplined to work, he attended The University of Havana, studying law. He joined student activist groups, this school though was known for their violent gang like culture. He was strongly against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This lead to a mess and they did not get the results in their favor. Castro was sent to prison with many others and many were executed. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but something was bound to change, this was not the end. When the presidential elections came up, Batista said Castro was no threat and released him out of prison. In 1955, bombings and violence broke out, and Fidel and his brother, Raul left Cuba to escape the chance of being arrested. After many battles he faced, he was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Cuba on February 16, 1959. Castro s government was focused on making Cuba s standards of living better. He focused on education, and opened many new education systems. His force or regime remained popular with the lower class, while the upper and middle class did not like him and emigrated to Florida. Conservative press showed disapproval towards his government, Castro started arresting people who would show any signs of retaliation. While relations with United States and Cuba were dwindling, Castro and Khrushchev, the Russian Leader at the time were growing a tighter bond. Many event s occurred during Castro s leadership position including the Bay of Pigs Invasion. This was when the United States was trying to rise up and overthrow Castro. The CIAs made it seem like a great idea to Kennedy, president at the time, and it lead to Cuba losing many men, and also led to the Cuban Missile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Impact Of Information Devices On Electrical Power System Impact of FACTS device in Electrical Power System Sankalp Asawa Department of Electrical Power Engineering KTH Royal Institute of Technology sankalpasawa@gmail.com Sam Al Attiyah Department of Electrical Power Engineering KTH Royal Institute of Technology sam3@kth.se Abstract The purpose of this paper is to analyse the impact of three different Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) devices on a power system and to analyse their capabilities with respect to various disturbances. FACTS devices discussed in this paper are Static Var Compensator(SVC), Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC) and Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC). The impact on power flow and Power Oscillation Damping due to these devices is analysed in detail. Simulations based on different choices of Power Oscillation Damping (POD) signal are simulated for small and large disturbance incurred on the system. Effect of Linear (residue method) and Non linear (CLF) based POD signals on the system is shown in the paper. Impact of each device is considered separately followed by a comparative study between them. All simulations are done with the help of SIMPOW and all figures are plotted in MATLAB . Index Terms Control Lyapunov Function, FACTS, Power Oscillation Damping (POD), Residue Method Introduction FACTS devices are power electronics based controllable devices which have been developed to enhance the performance of Alternating Current (AC) transmission over long distances. ...
