This document provides an overview and evaluation of various methods used to develop an advertisement for Coca-Cola, targeting 16-19 year olds. It summarizes the use of mind maps, mood boards, style sheets, layout plans, brainstorming, informal pitches, group idea generation, and formal pitches to develop concepts for a radio advertisement. For each method, it discusses strengths, weaknesses, and whether the method was found useful, providing insight into the creative process.

the person viewing it and make sure it looks like an advert as

3. Mind Map
Target market
People from the
ages of 16-19,
meaning the ad has
to be something can
relate too and be
attracted too
Slogan Possibilities
Don’t over think it just
drink it
4. Mind Map
• Strengths of using this method
– Can list down man ideas onto one space
– Can use little ideas noted down and develop them further without
forgetting what it is
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Notes are short and often need explaining to others reading
– Notes aren’t in any great detail
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes as I can write down man ideas so I can develop them later on
A negative however is that the notes are usually small and don’t explain
the point in full
This method helps me to remember small ideas that I may forget if I hadn’t
noted them down
6. Mood Board
• Strengths of using this method
– A mood board helps to develop what is being worked on whilst being very
simple and basic.
– Helps to get the idea of what I want the poster to be and what things will be
implemented such as friendship, summer time theme and a vintage look.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Quite vague and no detail is required nor implemented like the mind
map.
– Only photos are used no words which means it can be vague
– It is harder to communicate through a mood board as there are no words used.
Did you like using this method? Why?
This method was good as I got more of a visual idea of what I want the poster to
be and I can do this visually instead of
8. Style Sheet
• Strengths of using this method
– Helps me develop an idea of what I want my final poster to look like
– I know which colours I want to use which gives me more ideas from a
design aspect
• Weaknesses of using this method
A weakness of doing this is that everything that is put on the style sheet
isn’t guaranteed to be on the final poster
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I liked using this method because it allowed me to get an idea
of what colours I want to include on the poster
10. Layout Plan
• Strengths of using this method
• Can use this image to refer to when creating final poster
• I can get and idea of what it is I want my final poster too look like
• I can collect some images to use in the final poster
• Weaknesses of using this method
• Finding the right pictures was quite difficult
• Editing the photos to work can be frustrating
• Did you like using this method? Why?
• Yes because as it allows me to create a mock poster which I can use to refer to and
to help get a clearer picture of what I want my final poster to look like
11. Brainstorm
Coca Cola radio
advert
brainstorm
Up Beat
background
music
Targeted age
group : 16-19
How I can reach this
audience
• Use songs and
artists that are
popular right
now but still
appropriate
Use popular
references which
kids in our target
audience will
recognise
Ensure the
message
of the
advert is
clear when
listening to
it
Sounds of waves
Slogans:
“Open a can
with a smile”
“Good till the
last drop”
12. Brainstorm
• Strengths of using this method
• Helps to build an idea of what I want the radio ad to be
• Can write down all ideas which I might forget
• Weaknesses of using this method
• Notes are short and not in much detail
• Brainstorm ideas may change completely
• Did you like using this method? Why?
• Yes as it allowed me to make many notes on my radio ad despite not being
in great detail.
13. Informal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method
• A strength of this method is that we received feedback on our ideas for the radio
ad whilst being given suggestions how to make it better
• Weaknesses of using this method
• There could be a disagreement about the feedback given back.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
• Yes as it allows us to receive feedback and recommendations to further improve
our ideas for the radio ad.
15. Group Idea Generation
• Strengths of using this method
• More ideas are thought of in this as there is more than one person thinking of ideas.
• Some ideas that may not have been thought of individually can be as each person has
their own ideas and opinions about the radio ad
• Weaknesses of using this method
• It can be hard at times to agree on what ideas are best suited for the ad or to think of
ideas at all
• Did you like using this method? Why?
• Yes because it meant that more creative ideas were thought of with three
people thinking. This can only result in a better end product.
16. Formal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method
• A strength of doing this is that it allows me to put down a
more in detail explanation of the my radio ad and its content
• Weaknesses of using this method
• A weakness of using this is that ideas and the plan may
change after this being written
• Did you like using this method? Why?
• Yes because it allowed me to go into more detail
about my radio advert.
17. Initial Reaction
• I am looking forward to this part of the unit as I have never
attempted to make an animation before and it is something I
would like to learn to do.
• As Coca Cola is a family friendly brand so the game must be
something that is accessible and intriguing to the majority of
people
• I have drawn in pixels once before making this advergame but
it isn’t very difficult at all.
18. Initial Reaction
• Strengths of using this method
• Will be able to look back and see how far I have come from my
initial thoughts of this part of the unit.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– A weakness of using this method is that my initial perception of
the task may be different to when I have completed it
• Did you like using this method? Why?
– Yes its helpful to look back on in the future
20. Sketches
• Strengths of using this method
– A strength of using this method is that I can practice
making pixel art which I couldn’t do before
– It is fairly simple
• Weaknesses of using this method
– The final products aren’t always what they will be in they will look like
when it comes to implementing them into my product
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes it is good practice and is a skill I can use in the future.
21. Formal Proposal
• Strengths of using this method
You can explain in a good level of detail what your product in terms of genre, platform
and also answer any question about language or other sensitive topics that are asked
so that it is clear who the product is appropriate for.
• Weaknesses of using this method
A weakness of using this method is that an idea can change and if so it means that
new formal proposal has to be made if the idea is completely different
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I like using this method because it allows me to write in detail and
explain my advergame to whoever it is reading.
