The Evolution Of Allergies On Homo Sapiens
Sarah Husted
Anth 423
The evolution of allergies in Homo sapiens
As of 2008, approximately 25% of people in the developed world suffer from allergic disorders (Galli,
Tsai, Piliponsky, 2008). These disorders can be mild, but they can also be severe. Hay fever, asthma,
eczema, and anaphylaxis are a few examples of what can be categorized as allergic disorders. The
morbidity rates among school aged children in the industrialized world is even higher than in the
general population with 40 50% of children susceptible to one or more type of allergy (Pawankar et
al., 2011). The pervasiveness of allergies worldwide has risen in the developed world for over 50
years. Many people take medication for their allergies but it can often take years to find a completely
effective regime, if ever. For some, allergic disorders can severely disrupt everyday life. With so many
suffering from allergies it is no surprise that this area of health has been thoroughly studied.
Interestingly enough though, while we do know what happens in the human body during an allergy
attack there is still debate as to why we as humans evolved allergic disorders in the first place.
On a biological level, when an allergen enters your system it triggers a Type 2 immune response
(Pulendran, Artis, 2012). Th2 cells and IgE antibodies control this type of immune response as
opposed to the Th1 and IgM, IgA and IgG used a Type 1 immune response (Palm, Rosenstein,
Medzhitov, 2012). Type 2 immune response is

The Impact Of Renewable Energy
Renewable energy provides energy from sources such as solar, hydropower, wind, and biomass which
will never deplete. In addition, the energy is not non renewable things like fossil fuels, so it can be
replenished. Therefore, people have been studied renewable energy and Renewable energy is now
being used is some places. There are might be some People who believe that it will not play a big role
in the future because they think using renewable energy is expensive and it will not replace the non
renewable energy. However, Renewable energy will have huge effects on our future, especially in
future economies. The energy can energize the rural community, help government, and increase job
opportunities.
First of all, Renewable Energy activates rural community. Basically, renewable energy has been said
to be beneficial to the environment, but the energy also benefits on people s societies. The Wind is one
of the most available renewable energy sources, it can improve and expand the rural community.
Originally, a single engine is a normal economy in farms, it decreases harvests and degrades wheat
prices. However, farms are growing and their harvest getting as wind energy develops. For example,
Winds makes farms earn profit easily because farmers can harvest crops even in a little land
(Renewable Northwest). In addition, Wind energy also makes people earn money even in the winter
(Hilderbrand). Moreover, it can reduce economics disparity between rural and urban because a society

Stylistics In Textual Analysis
1. Introduction and Theoretical framework 1.1 stylistics Stylistics is the linguistic study of style in
language. There has been a long debate among scholars about the role and definition of stylistics
.Many scholars have tried to give their insights about the role of stylistics to the field of textual
analysis. Coyle ( 1993) states that the purpose of stylistics is to uncover the literary language used by
the author to formulate his message. stylistics then is concerned with revealing the aesthetic and
artistic aspects of a text. Simpson ( 2004) provides a similar understanding of stylistics. He asserts that
the role of the discipline is to explore the creativity in language usage . Simpson further ... Show more

The analyst can also investigate the use of definite or indefinite articles, demonstratives such as this or
that, and examine the frequency in the usage of certain grammatical constructions ( comparative,
superlative,.....). The researcher can examine the use of pronouns in the selected speeches. There have
been researchers that have done studies and articles written about how politicians use pronouns in a
strategic way to show power, solidarity or authority, for example if a speaker uses mostly the pronoun
we, this will indicate his attempt to create a sense of unity with his audience. 1.2.3 Figures of speech
Martha J. Kolln (1999) defines figurative language as the language that expresses meaning in
nonliteral terms , characterized by figures of speech such as metaphors , similes , analogies and
personification . For the analysis of the figures of speech in a text, leech and short provide the

Sherman Alexie Indian Tribe
According to the Webster Dictionary, a tribe is a social division in a traditional society consisting of
families or communities linked by social, economic, religious or blood ties, with a common culture
and dialect. In Sherman Alexie s novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, in the
chapter Remembering Arnold list all the tribes that he belongs to. He says, I was a Spokane Indian. I
belonged to that tribe. But I also belonged to the tribe of American immigrants. And the tribe of
basketball players . . . (Alexie 217). His two most important tribes that he identifies with are the tribe

But just like Arnold we all can relate to being a part of a tribe. As for me, I am a part of the tribe of
teenage girls, tribe of being adopted and the tribe of lovers of tattoos and piercings. However, my most
important tribe that I belong to is the tribe of only daughter and just like Arnold, the tribe of girls who
miss their best friend. Having to face being the only daughter, being poor, and missing a best friend
can really shape you as a person whether it be good or bad. Throughout majority of the book Arnold
talks about how much he misses his best friend Rowdy, and wants nothing more but to get their
friendship back. Rowdy and Arnold were longtime friends. Rowdy would protect and watch after
Arnold because everyone on the rez picked on him for having disabilities. Arnold would be save as
long as Rowdy was around, because everyone feared Rowdy. Arnold thought they would be friends
forever, that was until Arnold announced that he would be leaving the rez to attend Reardan High

Write An Essay About Dancing En Pointe
The Point Behind the Pointe
Nothing compares to that moment when a dance teacher gives permission for a dancer to purchase
their first pair of pointe shoes. The excitement builds, through the first fitting, up until the first pointe
class. There is an unseen evil lurking behind this happiness. Dancing en pointe is a dangerous
business, at all times there is a risk of injury, even at the professional level, one misplaced pose, or one
careless jump and their career is over.
In regards to the beginner student, should they be placed en pointe too young or before they have
sufficient strength, and technique, their career may be over before it begins. The majority of dancers
are ready to begin dancing en pointe between the ages of ten and twelve, but occasionally, an
exceptionally strong nine year old will be able to advance to the higher levels. The bones in the feet

Pointe is difficult, demanding, and painful. The dancer needs to be prepared to suffer from sore feet,
pain, and blisters. The shoes themselves also demand a great level of responsibility to maintain. The
student must be able to put them on correctly, and tie them to the ankles in the correct fashion . The
dancer must have a good work ethic and attitude towards their dance training, and dancing en pointe.
Focus and dedication is required throughout classes. Their studio etiquette is a good signal for this;
whether they come to class in the appropriate attire, whether they come prepared, whether they apply
corrections, and finally whether they show correct and appropriate class behaviour . To maintain the
required strength for pointe work, it takes discipline, and it cannot be maintained with classes alone.
The dancer must be comfortable with working outside of classes to enable them to dance en pointe to

American Indian Stories Sparknotes
In her book American Indian Stories, Zitkala Sa s central role as both an activist and writer surfaces,
which uniquely combines autobiography and fiction and represents an attempt to merge cultural
critique with aesthetic form, especially surrounding such fundamental matters as religion. In the
tradition of sentimental, autobiographical fiction, this work addresses keen issues for American
Indians dilemmas with assimilation. In Parts IV and V of quot;School Days, quot; for example, she
vividly describes a little girl s nightmares of paleface devils and delineates her bitterness when her
classmate died with an open Bible on her bed. In this groundbreaking scene, she inverts the allegation

Christian practices such as stripping children from their language, culture, religion, family, and
environment, the blatant injustice and trauma of which the reader poignantly feels in her fiction during
the hair cutting scene and in the mother s desperate cry to her departed warrior brothers.
This collection of stories and the autobiographical account of her school days at White s Manual

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) plays an important role in stimulating the growth potentials and
providing stability to the economy of Saudi Arabia. Our findings show that there are mainly four
factors which determine the net FDI flow to Saudi Arabia. These are GDP, Privatization, Import and

2. LITERATURE REVIEW
Estimates reported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD,1997) suggest
that several countries have experienced very rapid growth of the private sector during the transition
period. A number of studies have suggested that investment and growth in developing economies is
positively associated with indicators of openness and export promotion (Balasubramanyam et al.,
1996). Such findings may suggest that investors prefer countries with relatively liberal trade regimes
and few constraints on profit repatriation, possibly within regions with wider supra national free trade
arrangements. De Mello (2000) analyzed the time series and panel data for 32 OECD and non OECD
countries for the period 1970 90. He estimated the impact of FDI on capital accumulation and output
growth in the recipient economy supporting the FDI led growth hypothesis. Similarly, Soto (2000);
Alfaro, Chanda, Kalelmi Ozcan, Sayek (2004); Li and Liu (2005) found positive impact of FDI on
GDP growth. They all used FDI measure as percentage of GDP. Liu et al. (2002) examined the long
run relationship between economic growth, FDI and trade in China. A study on the quarterly data for

Personal Statement On Personal And Social Holiness
In my last, in process paper I discussed how my pursuit of personal and social holiness developed my
calling in ministry. As I reflect on the journey of discovering my call to ministry, I cannot help but to
reflect on the mountaintops and valleys the Lord I have walked. It is refreshing and convicting at the
same time as I read through the texts for this module, knowing that the Holy Spirit is at work refining
me more like Christ, and also affirming the choices and decisions I have made to be where I am today.
As you read through this paper my hope is that one will see my personal/social victories and failures,
and how God has been at work molding me like a potter. I grew up in a Christian home, or at least a
partial Christian home. I say that because my mom had me in church every Sunday, but my dad really
did not take part in it unless it was Christmas or Easter. I mention this, because it was in that partial
Christian home, where I was first exposed to pornography. As I reflected on the content of this
module, my journey of overcoming temptations, and being forgiven for poor decisions strikes a chord
as I reflect on the process of integrity, and part of that journey has been filled with the pollution of
porn. Author Headley, describes Grace not so evident in its arrival, but transforming in power
(Headley, 180). This description resonates with me as I found myself in sin many times, and the
transforming power of grace seemed to always sneak up when I least suspected it.

Porters value chain
Michael Porter published the Value Chain Analysis in 1985 as a response to criticism that his Five
Forces framework lacked an implementation methodology that bridged the gap between internal
capabilities and opportunities in the competitive landscape. This framework focused on industry
attractiveness as a determinant of the profit potential of all companies within that particular industry.
However, significant differences in performance exist between companies operating within the same
industry that can be explained either by the company s participation in a successful strategic group or
by a firm s specific competitive advantages.
Value Chain Analysis helped identify a firm s core competencies and distinguish those activities that

Technology development activities can bring product differentiation by introducing improvements to
the development process. Finally cost effective procurement activities that look for the most reliable
suppliers with the best quality of goods can significantly reduce costs and create more value.
By subdividing an organisation into its key processes or functions, Porter was able to link classical
accounting to strategic capabilities by using value as a core concept, i.e. the ways a firm can best
position itself against its competitors given its relative cost structure, how the composition of the value
chain allows the firm to compete on price, or how this composition allows the firm to differentiate its
products to specific customer segments.
Achieving Competitive Advantage with Value Chain
The value chain helps an organization in understanding where value is created at each of its activities
and in linking those value adding activities with the business strategy and customer needs. This set of
activities which represents a unique and integrated value creating sequence is hard for competitors to
emulate and thereby sets up and maintains a long lasting competitive advantage for the organization.

Pros And Cons Of Using Unsecured Loans To Pay Off Debt
Using unsecured loans to pay off debt is probably not a good idea, but there are clear exceptions to
this so you really have to consider your situation thoroughly.
Generally speaking it s not a good plan because when you don t offer up any kind of collateral and
borrow money your interest rates will be considerably higher. That mixed in with the fact that your
credit may not be so great because of the debt problems you re having and then you have a very high
interest rate. It takes a lot longer to get out of debt if the interest keeps adding to it and making things
worse.
There are exceptions to this of course because a lot of debts have such high interest rates like credit

Interval Training Research Paper
How to Begin Interval Training When You Are Currently Sedentary
The benefits of a good interval training program are widely supported these days, in research and in
everyday life. Stronger muscles, a more efficient cardiovascular system, and a leaner, more toned
physique are just some of the results that have propelled interval training into style, even above
traditional steady state cardio sessions. Part of the reason this method of exercise works so well is that
it forces your body to adapt to much harsher stimuli than traditional exercise does by pushing you into
an anaerobic state. There is no doubt that brief, intense bouts of anaerobic training are enormously
beneficial to the seasoned exerciser, but to a beginner, they can be painful ... Show more content on

In general, a training program for complete beginners can have anywhere from five to ten intervals of
work separated by intervals of rest and recovery. The number of intervals can then be increased
depending on levels of fitness. You can perform almost any exercise of your choice in an interval
format, but cardio exercises like running, biking, and swimming are the most simple for complete
beginners to learn safely.
While you can vary the length and number of work intervals to match your goals, rest intervals when
you are first starting out from a sedentary lifestyle should be kept long enough so you feel recovered
and rested before starting the next work interval. This rule of thumb will help keep you from injuring
yourself before you become accustomed to what your body can handle.
Long, slow intervals of around two minutes or more are best if your goal is to eventually be able to
maintain a steady cardio pace without needing to take breaks. For example, if you want to train to jog
a 5k race, it would be worthwhile to do two to four long interval sessions per week to build up your
cardio capacity. Additionally, if it has been a long time since you have exercised regularly, longer,
slower intervals can help you get back into the game and get back to a basic level of fitness. Stick to
this interval length until you feel comfortable taking the next step into harder, faster

Therefore, I made the decision of splitting the story into two posters that could work as part of the
same marketing campaign whose main goal is to show the deep contrasts between life in COIN and
life on the surface.
The first motion poster is focused on scenes 1 and 2 of the storyboard. In scene 1, the dome that
covers an atomic reactor crashes and the radiation spreads rapidly. The dome rotates as a way of
transitioning to the next scene where the audience, in contrast, can appreciate the magnificence of a

the sea surface. The main goal of this piece is, therefore, to show the deterioration of the environment
and the danger of radiation on the surface in opposition to the peaceful life in the Oceanic cities where
nature is still a top priority.
The second poster is a combination of scenes 3, 4, 5 and 6. In the first part, we can see a dark tunnel
with graffities on its walls and the wheel of a bike with a U lock on the bottom right corner. Suddenly,
the streetlight starts to flicker and a threatening shadow is reflected on the right side of the screen. The
tunnel, which has the same dome shape that appeared in the previous motion poster, rotates once again

When a person hears the word crazy , their first thoughts are probably of symptoms of schizophrenia.
Schizophrenia is seen as the ideal case of insanity. The causes of this disease remain unknown, but
scientists are constantly searching for answers. Although a cure for schizophrenia is surely far in the
future, research and understanding is making more and more progress every day.
To find a cure for schizophrenia, scientists must first understand the disease itself. Over the years,

schizophrenia may hold a single position for hours on end. This is called a stupor . Their condition
resembles that of suspended animation. Sometimes the person is rigid and hard to move, but at other

medications, catatonic schizophrenia is rare today.
Medication has been the most successful treatment by far. Antipsychotic drugs do little for helping the

absolutely necessary along with medication. Alarmingly, a recent study shows that only a third of

Theme Of Women In A Doll s House
How the Need for Independence Contributed to the Failure of Marriage in Ibsen s A Doll s House
The play, A Doll s House, was written by Henrik Ibsen in the year 1879. In this time period, men and
women were not equal. The main protagonist, Nora, had decisions decided for her throughout her life.
At a certain point, she realized it was time for her to seek independence. This search for self
sufficiency caused many issues in her marriage.
From early on in the play, it is apparent how submissive Nora is to her husband, Torvald: You haven t
any idea how many expenses we skylarks and squirrels have, Torvald (14). He uses pet names such as
squirrel and spendthrift to address Nora, comparing her to feeble animals. These are metaphors that
Ibsen uses to display how most women were treated in this time period. They were seen as objects or
fragile little animals that needed the protection of a man. Nora goes along with these names and even
refers to herself as them in order to please him and get what she wants, which is usually money.
Torvald is controlling and possessive when it comes to Nora, but she doesn t know any better because
her dad treated her in a similar manner. She s the mother of three kids and a woman, so work is not a
realistic option for her. This is another reason why she s so dependent on Torvald for money.
Although Nora was a naive seeming young woman, she did yearn to feel independent as well. When
speaking with her friend Mrs. Linde she often boasted about

The Gillette s Vice Of The Disposable Crown Cork Bottle Cap
King Camp Gillette was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin in 1855. At the early age of 16 he became a
traveling salesman where he met William Painter, the inventor of the disposable Crown Cork bottle
cap. This friendship ignited Gillette s passion for invention and entrepreneurship. In 1895 he had an
idea of a disposable razor blade. The problem was how to make the blades thin enough and at a price
low enough to be profitable. Then in 1901 Gillette met an MIT graduate by the name of William
Nickerson and the idea and dream became a reality. The Gillette Safety Razor Company began making
safety razors and blades.
The company offered a new product, safety razors and blades, a product of convenience at a
reasonable price. Gillette had a few lean years to establish a customer base. To attract new customers
Gillette tried advertising by putting his face stamped on the thin razor blades, and then gave away the
razor as a free gift. The razor was useless without the blades. The marketing gimmick of FREE
worked! Gillette gave free razors that then created a demand for the blades. Gillette sold razors in bulk
at discounted prices to banks so they could use them as give away when you opened an account, the
Shave and Save campaigns were huge success. Gillette took it even further when he then sold to the
Wrigley s gum company; packets of coffee, tea, spices, and marshmallows. Gillette sold millions of
razors at steep discount to the Army hoping the habits soldiers developed at war

Should Marriage for Same Sex Couples be Legal in United...
Marriage as generally define is the union between one man and one woman. However a recent debate
over same sex marriage has stirred a nationwide debate reverberating in the halls of Congress, at the
White House, in dozens of state courtrooms and legislatures, and is also becoming a speech making
topic for election campaigns at both the national and state levels. As the debate for this controversial
topic rages on, the American religious community view on the topic remains deeply divided over the
matter and over the morality of homosexuality in general. Granting legal marriage right to gays and
lesbians would primarily alter the idea of marriage, ignore a child s right to a mother and father, and
expands government control of marriage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People against same sex marriage can use the doctrine that separates states from church in order to
stop the government from compelling them to accept a new definition of marriage. Under this
doctrine, if the government decides to grant the legal right to same sex marriage, the government will
be violating the freedom of religion of people under the civil rights of the Constitution, who hold the
deep believe that homosexuality is morally wrong in the society. The role of marriage in the society is
a major topic that it is thought in public schools. If same sex marriage is legalized, public schools
would have to teach the pupil about same sex marriage as equivalent to opposite sex marriage which
will violate the beliefs of many parents who are against same sex marriage. According to Stanley
Kurtz, a social commentator, he argued that among the likeliest effects of legalizing same sex
marriage is to take us down a slippery slope to legalized polygamy and polyamory. Marriage will be
transformed into a variety of relationship contracts, linking two, three, or more individuals weakly and
temporarily in every conceivable combination of male and female (Weekly Standard).

SINUSITIS
INTRODUCTION
Infections of the sinuses are not a pleasant thing to have for anyone. Each year, once spring comes and

Differences Between Flora and Mother Essay example
There is an infinite number of personalities and the best art works portray them vividly and truthfully.
Some people are practical, while others are more abstract. In the comedic novels about family life,
Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons (1932) and Chicken Every Sunday: My Life with Mother s
Boarders by Rosemary Taylor (1943), the practical characters are in the forefront. While representing
different life phases due to their age difference, Gibbons s main character Flora Poste is quite similar
in her life views and actions to Taylor s Mother. The central theme is the conflict between notions of
practicality and romance, reflected by the actions of the heroines, which happen to be heavily affected
by their unconventional upbringings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both heroines personalities are heavily affected by their rather unconventional childhoods. Since
Mother was born right after the Civil War and had gone through the hard and poverty stricken times in
the South, [t]here was something Spartan in her nature and her seizing any possibility for making
money (57). Flora s childhood was marked by her hardly knowing her parents and attending various
schools, where she could hardly fit in. Overall, the theme of unconventional childhoods is one of the
major themes of both novels. Most of the characters of Cold Comfort Farm seem to have
psychological issues, which they developed from their childhoods. Ada Doom s seeing something
nasty in the woodshed made a dominating and miserable being out of her (171). She brought up her
daughter, Judit Starkadder, as an emotionally unstable. It resulted in Judith s obsession with her son,
Seth Starkadder. The inferred Seth s molestation by his mother had resulted in him developing
psychological issues of his own, including hate towards women and sexual promiscuity. On the
contrary, Mother s and Flora s stern upbringing molded them into practical and realistic people, as
well as allowed them to manipulate their surrounding characters. The novels are insightful to one of
the human nature s desires of changing others. Both heroines change the lives of the whole cast of
different characters, instead of allowing the environments to change them. They introduce other
female characters to

There are a number of different reasons for urinary tract obstruction. This can include pregnancy,
cancer, fungus balls, ureterocele, ureteral strictures, tuberculosis and neurogenic bladder. (Chris, n.d.).
There are a number of symptoms that should raise concern for pyonephrosis. This can include: flank
pain, fever, nausea and vomiting, little or no urine and a weak and narrow urine stream. The symptoms
of peritonitis, abdominal pain, tenderness, abdominal distension, diarrhea or constipation with the
inability to pass gas may also be present.
Sepsis is common in severe untreated cases, especially in immunocompromised patients. Apart from
the other symptoms mentioned above, there may also be rapid heart rate and a rapid breathing rate in
sepsis. When the mental status is altered and the blood pressure is very low, severe sepsis or septic
shock has arisen and death is a very likely consequence (Chris, n.d.).
Blood and urine tests are the main investigations to diagnose pyonephrosis along with the clinical
presentation and the patient s medical history. When urine cannot be collected due to the obstruction, a
sample has to be removed from the collecting system of the kidney.
Blood tests can include a complete blood count (CBC), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine and
a blood culture. Urine tests include a urinalysis and a urine culture. All of these tests help to determine
pyonephrosis (Chris, n.d.). Sonographic findings suggestive of pyonephrosis include

Civil Litigation Procedures And Criminal Procedures
The difference among Civil Litigation procedures and Criminal procedures
An individual going to a lawyer to seek help in resolving an issue and seek monetary damages against
someone they believe has done them wrong. The attorney conducts the interview and the staff will
interview witness and perform legal research all in an effort to see if there is a basis for a cause of
action that is legitimate against wrongdoers. This begins the relationship between client and lawyer
which is solidified by the execution of a retainer agreement. In the retainer agreement there is an
understanding of the way that a lawyer will be paid. The Lawyer will begin the process of informing
the defendant of the complaint against them, and damages sought in the form of a demand letter. If the
defendant chooses not to answer the demand letter it s time to prepare for trial. The lawyer works on
jurisdiction to find the correct court who can hear the case. When the determination for jurisdiction is
set following will be venue selection. Venue allows for an impartial jury and focuses on the
convenience of the defendant. During this time claims and motions can be filed such as Complaint,
Answer, Counterclaim, Cross Claim, Motion to strike, and Motion to dismiss. After the reply or a
dismissal motion has been filed the discovery process can begin. The Discovery consists of two forms:

The child wants a reaction, and if you do not react, the child is less likely to continue to engage in
tantrums to try to get his or her way. For example, if the kid is throwing a fit in the living room, make
sure there is nothing in the area that could hurt the child, and go to another part of the room or even
into another room while the child throws the tantrum.
In some cases, you may be able to continue what you are doing while ignoring the child s tantrum. Of
course, this can be difficult and even embarrassing if your child has a tantrum in public. Once the
child has calmed down after you have ignored the tantrum or given the child space, you can talk about
the situation.
Of course, these are just a few of the ways to deal with a temper tantrum. Some parents have found
that timeouts, hugging the child, reminding the child of rewards for good behavior, or moving the
child to another room work well for dealing with a tantrum. No one method is going to work for every
child, and no one method is going to work perfectly every time, even for the same child. What has

The Confession By Leo Tolstoy
Leo Tolstoy The Confession Many people find themselves in a mid life crisis when they reflect on
what is the real meaning of human life. Leo Tolstoy wrote his literal interpretation of God s teachings.
Towards his golden years, the writer rejected privileges and wealth and became a wandering ascetic.
At the height of his career, he encountered a midlife crisis which revolutionized his views towards life.
Tolstoy said that he considered ending his life since he no longer understood the meaning of it. He
wrote a publication in 1882 concerning his crisis in a short piece called A Confession, and published it
in 1884. The renowned writer was one of the critical thinkers to raise a question concerning the true
meaning of what is life before by any writer have done so. Science cannot help one in understanding
the genuine meaning of life. Having faith and trusting in God is the only thing that can enable humans
to escape the spector of meaninglessness. Faith in afterlife and God of theism establishes ground that
justice will ultimately be served. Having belief in God develops the assertion that all things happening
in ones life, good or bad happen for a reason. If one person be good, good things will happen to you,
and if one person be bad, bad things will happen to you. People who believe or have faith in God are

The Second Film Technique Wilson Yip
The second film technique Wilson Yip uses to bring out Ip Man s honor is cinematography. Although
cinematography might not seem like an obvious way to bring out honor, it does its part by
emphasizing the honor already evident through the characterization and mis en scene.
Cinematography in the Ip Man movies lets the audience focus on the elements of honor Wilson Yip is
trying to convey. If it were not for very specific cinematic techniques used by Yip, most of the honor
built up through characterization and mis en scene would be useless because the audience would be
unable to focus on it. In the first movie, we can see the benefits of cinematography and editing in the
same scene with the northern fighter.3 In this scene, Yip uses the close up shot and point of view shot
to not only immerse the audience in the action, but also to help the audience relate Ip Man with honor
through an especially expressive viewpoint. Many times after Ip Man hits the northern fighter, there is
a flury of close up shots of the northern fighter s face from Ip Man s point of view, including one just
after he gets hit with a duster. The northern fighter wipes his face and then grimaces in pain. The
reaction on his face indicates the ease of which Ip Man is defeating the him. In contrast, Ip Man is

The women who stray away from the preset quotas on how they must act in society are ridiculed. The
author establishes this issue well in the cases of Sophie Wender, Rosalind Morton, and Aunt Harriet.
These individuals are undoubtedly the most developed emotionally, as well as the most assertive and
genuine representations of present day women, shown throughout the novel. Rosalind and Sophie are
the closest there are to heroines in consideration of the fact they repeatedly confront and fight for their

The earliest display of this social hierarchy is introduced through the story of Elias Strorm, the most
prominent figure in Waknuk s history. In a few seasons he straitened the coltishness with admonitions,
faded the pink and gold with preaching, and produced a sad, grey wraith of wifehood who died,
unprotesting, a year after her second son was born (1616). One could even argue that Elias s wife died
twice, once when Elias drilled and beat her into the mold of a submissive housewife, and finally when
her heart stopped beating. This imagined ideal of how a proper wife must act did not die with Elias, as
Joseph Strorm decided to not make the same mistake with his wife. Emily Strorm, while being slightly
less frail and decrepit than Elias s wife, she is still at the same mercy to Joseph as Elias s wife was to
him. When David was beaten by Joseph Emily was unable to anything other than cry as she dressed
his wounds. Emily, Elias s wife, as well as all other women in the novel (even to an extent in the
fringes) are submissive and do not question or disobey their husbands will. The only exception of a

The Consequences Of The English And Norman Conquests...
The people who inhabited Great Britain between 450 and 1066, were referred to as Anglo Saxons and
they included people from German tribes that had migrated from Europe, their descendants, and
individuals from British groups that associated with the Anglo Saxon culture and language. This
period provided a flourishing of literature and language, the establishment of laws, creation of the

people that lived through the conquest of Cnut in 1016 and that of William of Normandy in 1066.
Following the conquests, the nobility of Anglo Saxon people were either exiled or became peasants.
The English nobles had very specific obligations to William in return for their fiefs such as; castle
building, military service, and the training of additional knights. The Norman Conquest became far
more revolutionary than its Danish predecessor. (P. 336). Enormous consequences flowed because the
English and Normans were quite two different people. (p. 336).

Vinegar is also used in diet control because several doses can provide feeling of fullness and
satisfaction. It is also an effective screening tool for cervical cancer because vinegar changes the color
of the tissue that is infected to a color of white so it can be easily noticed. Vinegar is also a cleaning
agent because of its acidic property it can dissolve mineral deposits from glass. Vinegar is a very
useful chemical substance but at the same time a very acidic and corrosive compound (Harris, 2011).
THE EFFECTS OF AMMONIAAND VINEGAR ON RADISH PLANTS 4
Methods
The group planted a total of 8 separate pots of seeds. Two pots consisted of only seeds and those were
the control group of this experiment. The other plants also consisted of radish seeds but had chemicals
ammonia, vinegar, or a combination of both applied once weekly with 30ml of water being applied
daily (except on the weekends). As a result, there were a total of 8 pots. Two of each variable and two

Kant And Kant s Universal Law Essay
Does Kant successfully establish that one must never under any circumstances or for any purpose tell
a lie?
In this essay, I will argue that Immanuel Kant fails to successfully establish lying as morally
impermissible because the claim that lying is morally impermissible goes against common sense.
Kant defines his Universal Law to demonstrate the necessary action one must take in order to act in a
way that is morally permissible and uses it in support of his belief that one s motive is the sole
determinant of the moral worth of his actions. He uses the Universal Law Theorem to determine
whether it should be morally permissible to lie in any occasion, and consistently reaches the
conclusion that is it not (Kant Paton, 2005). However, let us consider an example situation: An elderly
woman is awoken during the night to pounding on the door from a handful of children claiming to
have just escaped the captivity of a pedophile in the neighbourhood. She immediately takes the
children into her home, promising to keep them safe for the night. Before she has the chance to
contact the authorities and their parents, she hears the sounds of a man raging outside, screaming
about lost children. The woman answers the door calmly, claiming to have just been awoken and
scolds the younger man for being so rowdy, sternly telling him she has not seen any children and
encouraging him to return home before she contacts the authorities.
Utilitarian, defined as system of ethics to help

Trust Definition Essay
What is the meaning of trust? What does it take for a person to fully, unconditionally trust a person?
What can that person do, to change, for you to trust them? Merriam Webster s Dictionary defines Trust
as; the belief that someone or something is reliable, good, honest, effective, etc. And I believe trust is
the number one key in healthy relationships. For others, especially in my story, I am still trying to
understand their warped definition of that fantastic word, trust.
My story originates from a few weeks ago, August 19th, 2015 to be exact. I am relaxing at home,
vigorously going through all of my new books for school, and making sure my book bag is neat and
orderly.
All of a sudden, the phone rings. On the other line, it is my good friend, my mentor, Police Officer
Steel. Good afternoon, Geneva, how are you? , she says. I am doing great Officer Steel, what may I
help you with today? She goes on to say, Well, I know your mother wouldn t be apart of this, so I am
calling to ask, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is taking a cab, as we speak, to the police department to turn himself in, says mom. Anger builds in
me thinking of what to say, a long pause goes by, and I decide to pipe up Good, That s what he should
have done in the first place, instead of lying to all of us, and he wonders why we can t believe him. I
don t know if I can ever believe him anymore; I ve lost every bit of trust I have. I just cannot think
about this anymore today, says mom. A dial tone comes over the phone, again.
Needless to say, my brother spent two hours in jail before he was bailed out by my mother. His bail
cost her $500.00 and was the last bit of money she had to live on until her payday. I heard he told her
he would pay her back, but he has said that about a thousand times in the past three years and she has
never seen a dime. He continues his crazy road of lies and still wonders why we don t believe him.
Wonders if we will ever trust him

  • 2. The Evolution Of Allergies On Homo Sapiens Sarah Husted Anth 423 The evolution of allergies in Homo sapiens As of 2008, approximately 25% of people in the developed world suffer from allergic disorders (Galli, Tsai, Piliponsky, 2008). These disorders can be mild, but they can also be severe. Hay fever, asthma, eczema, and anaphylaxis are a few examples of what can be categorized as allergic disorders. The morbidity rates among school aged children in the industrialized world is even higher than in the general population with 40 50% of children susceptible to one or more type of allergy (Pawankar et al., 2011). The pervasiveness of allergies worldwide has risen in the developed world for over 50 years. Many people take medication for their allergies but it can often take years to find a completely effective regime, if ever. For some, allergic disorders can severely disrupt everyday life. With so many suffering from allergies it is no surprise that this area of health has been thoroughly studied. Interestingly enough though, while we do know what happens in the human body during an allergy attack there is still debate as to why we as humans evolved allergic disorders in the first place. On a biological level, when an allergen enters your system it triggers a Type 2 immune response (Pulendran, Artis, 2012). Th2 cells and IgE antibodies control this type of immune response as opposed to the Th1 and IgM, IgA and IgG used a Type 1 immune response (Palm, Rosenstein, Medzhitov, 2012). LITERATURE REVIEW Estimates reported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD,1997) suggest that several countries have experienced very rapid growth of the private sector during the transition period. A number of studies have suggested that investment and growth in developing economies is positively associated with indicators of openness and export promotion (Balasubramanyam et al., 1996). Such findings may suggest that investors prefer countries with relatively liberal trade regimes and few constraints on profit repatriation, possibly within regions with wider supra national free trade arrangements. Stronger muscles, a more efficient cardiovascular system, and a leaner, more toned physique are just some of the results that have propelled interval training into style, even above traditional steady state cardio sessions. Part of the reason this method of exercise works so well is that it forces your body to adapt to much harsher stimuli than traditional exercise does by pushing you into an anaerobic state. Theme Of Women In A Doll s House How the Need for Independence Contributed to the Failure of Marriage in Ibsen s A Doll s House The play, A Doll s House, was written by Henrik Ibsen in the year 1879. In this time period, men and women were not equal. The main protagonist, Nora, had decisions decided for her throughout her life. At a certain point, she realized it was time for her to seek independence. This search for self sufficiency caused many issues in her marriage. From early on in the play, it is apparent how submissive Nora is to her husband, Torvald: You haven t any idea how many expenses we skylarks and squirrels have, Torvald (14). He uses pet names such as squirrel and spendthrift to address Nora, comparing her to feeble animals. These are metaphors that Ibsen uses to display how most women were treated in this time period. They were seen as objects or fragile little animals that needed the protection of a man. Nora goes along with these names and even refers to herself as them in order to please him and get what she wants, which is usually money. However a recent debate over same sex marriage has stirred a nationwide debate reverberating in the halls of Congress, at the White House, in dozens of state courtrooms and legislatures, and is also becoming a speech making topic for election campaigns at both the national and state levels. As the debate for this controversial topic rages on, the American religious community view on the topic remains deeply divided over the matter and over the morality of homosexuality in general. People against same sex marriage can use the doctrine that separates states from church in order to stop the government from compelling them to accept a new definition of marriage. Under this doctrine, if the government decides to grant the legal right to same sex marriage, the government will be violating the freedom of religion of people under the civil rights of the Constitution, who hold the deep believe that homosexuality is morally wrong in the society. The role of marriage in the society is a major topic that it is thought in public schools. If same sex marriage is legalized, public schools would have to teach the pupil about same sex marriage as equivalent to opposite sex marriage which will violate the beliefs of many parents who are against same sex marriage. According to Stanley Kurtz, a social commentator, he argued that among the likeliest effects of legalizing same sex marriage is to take us down a slippery slope to legalized polygamy and polyamory. Cinematography in the Ip Man movies lets the audience focus on the elements of honor Wilson Yip is trying to convey. If it were not for very specific cinematic techniques used by Yip, most of the honor built up through characterization and mis en scene would be useless because the audience would be unable to focus on it. One could even argue that Elias s wife died twice, once when Elias drilled and beat her into the mold of a submissive housewife, and finally when her heart stopped beating. The people who inhabited Great Britain between 450 and 1066, were referred to as Anglo Saxons and they included people from German tribes that had migrated from Europe, their descendants, and individuals from British groups that associated with the Anglo Saxon culture and language. • 41. Kant And Kant s Universal Law Essay Does Kant successfully establish that one must never under any circumstances or for any purpose tell a lie? In this essay, I will argue that Immanuel Kant fails to successfully establish lying as morally impermissible because the claim that lying is morally impermissible goes against common sense. Kant defines his Universal Law to demonstrate the necessary action one must take in order to act in a way that is morally permissible and uses it in support of his belief that one s motive is the sole determinant of the moral worth of his actions. He uses the Universal Law Theorem to determine whether it should be morally permissible to lie in any occasion, and consistently reaches the conclusion that is it not (Kant Paton, 2005). However, let us consider an example situation: An elderly woman is awoken during the night to pounding on the door from a handful of children claiming to have just escaped the captivity of a pedophile in the neighbourhood. Before she has the chance to contact the authorities and their parents, she hears the sounds of a man raging outside, screaming about lost children.
