Comparing Two And The Love Of My Life
Eerie, emotional pain, an unbearable sadness. These are feelings being felt nationally on February 13,
or National Breakup Day. The love two people once shared turns into a sudden loss. How a person
recovers from a loss is truly up to him or her and his or her mindset. In the novel, Two by Two by
Nicholas Sparks, and the short story, The Love of My Life by T. Coraghessan Boyle, the underlying
themes deal with falling in and out of love and dealing with the loss (Rice). To understand the
background of these two elements, the reader should first develop a thorough understanding of what
love and loss are, what inspires the author s writings, and how the main characters portray love and
loss. The authors, Nicholas Sparks and T. Coraghessan Boyle, ... Show more content on

On Wikipedia the definition of Pidgin language is a grammatically simplified means of
communication that develops between two or more groups that do not have a language in common

In Hawaii, the cultures that mix are from European, American, and Asian influences. But New Orleans

Investigation of Tissues Essay
Investigation of Tissues
Tissues are defined as a group of associated, similarly structured cells that with their ground substance
act together in the performance of a specialised function for the survival of the multicellular organism.
The tissues are classified into four main groups which are epithelial, connective, muscle and nervous.
(http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia accessed 08 October 2004)
Epithelial Tissues
Epithelial tissues form the covering of all body surfaces with the functions being to provide protective

Connective tissue examples are; adipose (fatty tissues), loose connective tissue, dense fibrous
connective tissue, elastic connective tissue, cartilage, osseous tissue (bone), tendons and ligaments.
I have chosen to look more at adipose (fatty tissue):
Adipose is a specialised type of connective tissue which stores lipids. It collects in large numbers and
is shaped to be large round or oval cells. Adipose has a similar function to that of fibrous tissue, which
throughout the body connects by irregular network of strands to form a cushion layer to support blood
vessels, nerves and other organs.
Adipose is essential for insulation due to its low thermal capacity which allows the body to retain heat,
thus functioning normally. Its other vital function is that of protection of delicate organs such as the
eyes and kidneys. Fat cells offer this by forming liquid and being excellent at absorbing pressure as
they cannot be flattened.
Adipose tissue is needed for the body to turn to in times of need due to it being able to form a food
reserve. Excess carbohydrates are made into glycogen and turned into fat and stored within adipose
tissue which when energy is required by the body converts back.
Adipose tissue is normally localised to certain depots within the body such

Apush Dbq Assimilation
With the Jewish expulsion from the land of Palestine, from the Romans. Their lives depended on
endeavoring to survive in the land that they were coerced on. For some, assimilation was the only way
to survive. It was either stay ostracized or assimilate and endeavor to become something. During the
18000s an incipient conception emerged from the Jewish people in many different counties. This
conception came to what Zionism is, a way for the Jewish people to become a whole. Some Zionist
vigorously repudiated the conception of assimilation to these countries. Some verbally expressed that

cultural guidance. He grew up alienated the Jewish culture and assimilated into the German culture.
He did receive a deeper Jewish thought than Hess and Herzl. His father taught Hebrew by profession
and taught his son the language. Additionally, like Herzl, he received a very good education, but also
worked in publishing. He went to medical school and became a doctor while at the same time he was
writing publications in books and newspapers. Commensurable to Hess and Herzl, Nordau wrote
about the uncompromising culture of antisemitism in many European countries. He blasted them in a
book called Conventional Lies of Civilization where he explained an uncompromising analysis of the
cultural scene and a particularly violent attack upon religion. (Herzberg P. 233) Then his book was
subjected to bring banned by the catholic church and the countries of Austria, Russia, and England.
His ideas like Herzl was one of learning about nations and religions that were subjected to awful

The Heart Reserves A Special Place For Music
The heart reserves a special place for music. To many, music is more than a melody or a combination
of sounds pulsating in ears; it brings out emotions, memories, and shared vibes. Whether a person is
an avid listener or casually listens to music, everyone has a few specific albums that laid a foundation
for the music they currently enjoy. Recently, I have rediscovered one of these albums, Madvillainy,
when putting my old playlist on shuffle. The album consists of Daniel Dumile, the album s MC
(rapper) who goes by many aliases, but most commonly as MF Doom, and Otis Jackson Jr., or Madlib.
The underground hip hop album was released in 2004 and is now considered a classic by many. The
album s 22 tracks consist of skits, instrumentals, and rapping with most tracks around two minutes
long. Madvillainy has proven to me to be a masterpiece and a consistently good listen.
One of the qualities that set Madvillainy apart from its peers, is the superb production performance
given by Madlib. The album s production is magnificent, even to Pitchfork standards, saying, the
samples are smart and never played out, and the production and rhymes reveal a determined sense of
cooperation, as Doom spouts off his most brilliant lyrical change ups and production conscious
playoffs (Pemberton). Like stated in Pitchfork, the production works cohesively with MF Doom s
rapping. For example, on the song Meat Grinder , the beat alone seems quirky, sounding like it
belongs in an episode of Spongebob,

his early years he would use more classical styles but as he grew as a person he would reach into
styles such as fauvism and abstract. His mediums would grow to encompass painting, sculpting and
paper crafts. Throughout his life he was varied but his lasting impression is definite, the abstract art
world was forever changed because of him.
In conclusion Henri Matisse s life spanned two war and countless hardships, he would leave the world

management styles, and dominant reactions to dissonance.
Analysis:
Tolerance for ambiguity: Ambiguity is a psychological construct which describes the relationship that
not clear, it could be ambiguous things, behavior, or words.
(Budner, 1962, p.29) Tolerance for ambiguity is how to deal with a situation in a calm and genius way.
We see here that each individual has a difference and they are different in many ways, which means
the way they function varies. It does not mean they would not work efficiently. An idea will have
many people suggesting many possible ways to get things done, one should be open to accept it.
My ambiguity tolerance score is 63 out of 112, implications of being directed by others: being part of

Essay On Perinatal Care
Status of perinatal care at international and national level
At least half of all stillbirths occurred in the intrapartum period. Among the 133 million babies born
alive each year, 2.8 million die in the first week of life. The patterns of these deaths are similar to the
patterns for maternal deaths; the majority occurring in developing countries. Quality skilled care
during pregnancy and childbirth are key for the health of the baby and the mother. In the regions with
the highest neonatal mortality rates, access to postnatal care is abysmally low. In the majority of
countries with data in sub Saharan African and South Asia, fewer than half of mothers and babies
receive a postnatal health check.

However, the global advance in child survival continues to elude many of the world s youngest and
most vulnerable children. Of the 6.3 million children who died before age 5 in 2013, 16 per cent took
their first and final breaths on the day they were born. Altogether, 44 per cent died during the first 28
days of life. In 2013 the world suffered the loss of 2.8 million newborn babies. These staggering
statistics are all the more tragic given that low cost, evidence based solutions are increasingly
available, even in some of the most remote places. In 2013, almost 1 million newborns died on the day
they were born, accounting for 16 per cent of all under five deaths and more than a third of all
neonatal deaths.4 A total of 2 million newborns died within the first seven days after birth,
representing 73 per cent of all neonatal deaths (figure 16). Between 1990 and 2013, 86 million
newborn babies born worldwide died within their first 28 days of life.
Reasons of perinatal Deaths
Perinatal mortality refers to the no of deaths in the first week of life and no of fetal deaths (stillbirths).
Causes and determinants of neonatal deaths and stillbirths differ from those causing and contributing
to early neonatal and child deaths. Neonatal deaths and stillbirths emanate from poor maternal health,
ineffective care during pregnancy, improper management of complications during pregnancy and
delivery, poor hygienic conditions and the

Who Was The Greatest Leader In Ww2 Essay
Who was the greatest leader in World War 2? Why
Greatest leader in WW2
World War 2 had many great leaders, Winston Churchill, Dwight Eisenhower, Hirohito, and many
more but in complete honesty when thinking of World War 2 another man comes to mind. That man
name is Adolf Hitler. He may have done many horrible things but one can not deny how great of a
leader he was. So although he was not a great person due to the damage he had done but he was truly a
fantastic leader due to how he rose to power, how popular he was in germany, and what he was able to
accomplish.
Adolf hitler first became known in WW1. He served in the 16th Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment
in 1914. Then a couple years later in 1920 he was discharged from the army and then takes
responsibility for Publicity and Propaganda. By leading that he was able to change the party name to

when Adolf Hitler was the leader of germany he did alot of bad things. The most obvious is
Concentration Camps and in other words the extermination of Jews. Hitler ended up killing millions
and millions of jews and really did think of it as an accomplishment. Another thing was how many
wars he was a part of and actually caused. Hitler won many of the wars if not most of the wars he was
a part of. Hitler believed his army was superior but he didn t think he would be able to rule the world.
His plan was to just build a greater German empire but was shocked when France and Britain declared
war on him when invading Poland. After that his success started to fade. He lost more battles and
germany was once again defeated in another World War. Hitler decided to avoid facing his
consequences and ultimately chose to end his

Changes in the Social and Political Fabric in 16th and...
The sixteenth and seventeenth centuries were periods of questioning and searching for truth. The
practice of challenging traditional institutions, including the Church, was revolutionary. Individuals
began to use reason to guide their actions and opinions and realized the oppressive nature of the
Catholic monarchy. Individuals strove to act in their own best interest and in the name of what was
true to them. The consensus was that society would be better off with an economy that shifted away
from agriculture, looked globally, and decreased monopolies and the importance of Guilds, as
economic opportunities would surface for all classes of men. This type of economy was only possible
in light of religious reform, as religion was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These men were taxed, denied an education, and politically underrepresented. They received few
benefits from their work and were ready to challenge their subordinate role in society. Such
individuals were attracted to rebellion against their Catholic oppressors and to Protestantism which
advocated an involved citizenry. In the Netherlands in 1566, Calvinists destroyed property owned by
the Catholic Church in response to a permanent sales tax that hurt many commoners and Philip II s
attempts to crush heresy. Similarly, noblemen supported the rebellion against the Catholic monarchy,
desiring freedom from economic and political restraints (Spielvogel, 405). This was the beginning of a
movement of religious partition and resulting secularization, and it traversed all classes in nearly all
European nations. Such secularization was necessary for the development of the emerging economy.
The state became increasingly centralized. Small, religiously guided, regional governments decreased
in importance. This was a necessary change for the development of infrastructure such as currency,
contracts, and general order which were integral to a nation s success in the new global economy and
could only be effective in the context of a centralized government. The building of roads and ships,
establishing banks, and even creating currency inevitably translated into

Agriculture In America
Agriculture is our wisest pursuit, because it will in the end contribute most to real wealth, good morals

of many Americans. In early years many Americans lived on family farms producing food and fiber.
Planting and harvest times determined when children would attend school because older siblings

As the expression of employees dissatisfaction and differences with employers, conflict is regarded as
bad and irrational for the organization and should be kept down through some forcible ways. Conflict
can arise from employees misunderstanding of the direction of the organisation or the poor
communication between the staff and the management, enabling employees to substitute alternative
agendas instead of the organisation s agenda (Bray, Deery, Walsh and Waring, 2005). Moreover,
conflicts can arise from the poor management that caused by the management s failure to identify and
meet employees basic needs.
From this perspective, trade union is perceived not necessary and the role of it is creating conflict, and
it is seen an unwelcome intrusion into the organization from outside competing with management for

Tactical Decision Making Essay
The modern fire service is much in part driven by individual opinion of the appropriate strategies and
tactics to be used during given emergency incidents, many of which are stimulated by inaccurate
information, the lack of scientific evidence or the historical means of operation within the department.
In recent years, various scientific studies have been conducted by entities such as the National
Institute of Standards and Technology, and Underwriters Laboratories to present factual scientific data
that is useful for making appropriate strategic and tactical decisions on the fireground. According to
Smith (2017), Strategy should be viewed as overall goals or what you want to accomplish (p. 106) on
the fireground. Furthermore, he defines tactics in his writings as how you are going to achieve your
strategies or goals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Decision making models that are widely accepted in the fire service play a significant role in the
implementation of strategies and tactics on fire grounds across the country. Scientific studies
producing reliable data have initiated discussions across the country about the decision making models
in use and have resulted in the development of new models. Each of the acronyms discussed are useful
to the fire ground operator when implemented and used appropriately. After operating for some years
using the RECEO VS model for both strategic and tactical decision making, I currently prefer the
SLICE RS model for tactical decision making. The SLICE RS model guides the user through a
sequence of tactical objectives but also allows the user to utilize critical thinking at each incident to
take the appropriate action based on knowledge gained through current scientific data. As studies
continue, scientific data may change, prompting the need for re evaluation of the current models and
the application of new models with associated

America s Second Civil War
I pulled the trigger to my gun. The bullet went directly into the shoulder of the Boss. I hit the other
psycho in the head with my gun. Then I told the family to call the cops and not mention me. I got the
hell out of there. When I got home I took off all of my clothes, put new ones on, then burned them.
Let s fast forward two years later. I m married. And I m also serving my last few days in the U.S.
Military. I m here with my childhood friend, Austin. I started talking to him the day after I ran from
the gang, and we hit the bar to catch up with each other. The rest of my team consisted of Pvt. Ragan,
and Sgt. Blackwood. We were Blood Brothers.
Just my luck, on my last mission of service I killed the man responsible for America s second civil
war. Roderick Ryder. Ryder was making a run for his escape chopper, and Blackwood ordered me to
stop him. He got in the helicopter, and with my VKS Vykhlop Sniper Rifle I managed to pick off the
pilot. While Ryder was crawling out, I kicked him in the face and put one in between his eyes.
A day later were packing to go home and I m told that my wife was captured by the notorious Ko Gue

It was obvious that the gang I ran from would be back, and after me. After my family. I should ve

Initial Ph Test Lab Report
Upon completion of each spot test, as well as initial pH tests, the results were then recorded. It was
known that the 10 solutions consisted of 1 M hydrochloric acid, 1 M nitric acid, 3 M acetic acid, 1 M
sodium hydroxide, 0.1 M silver nitrate, 0.1 M sodium chloride, 0.1 M zinc chloride, 0.1 M aluminum
nitrate, 3 M ammonium hydroxide and 0.1 M lead nitrate, however their corresponding number was
unknown. The first identified unknown was 98, acetic acid, given its highly prevalent scent, in
addition to it not forming a precipitate with any substance due to the solubility rules. Given that two
bases were present on the initial pH test, one being strong (93) and one being weak (91), it was then
concluded that they were the strong base NaOH and the weak base NH4OH, respectively. Once
identified, the precipitates formed by these two bases were then taken into account. Given that both
bases reacted with the weak acid, 99, yet it drastically different manners (white and copper), it was
then researched to see what would react with these bases to form a copper colored precipitate,
resulting in AgNO3. Given that this was only one reaction, 99 as AgNO3 was not a fully supported

The Effect of C02 Concentration on the Photosynthetic Rate of Algae
Introduction:
How does the C02 concentration of algal solution affect the photosynthetic rate of Algae? In this
experiment, algae solutions of different concentrations of carbon dioxide, on algal growth are tested to
determine the effect of varying concentrations of carbon dioxide, on algal growth over a period of nine
days. The rate of photosynthesis was deduced from the change in turbidity levels of the solution.
There are three factors that affects the rate of photosynthesis: light intensity, temperature and carbon
dioxide concentration. Photosynthesis involves several processes, two of them ... Show more content

Variables:
The independent variable in this investigation is the carbon dioxide level in the algal solution. This is
measured by determining the pH level of the solution as carbon dioxide gas is bubbled through the
solution. When mixed, carbon dioxide and water form carbonic acid, thus decreasing the pH level of
the solution.
The test cases five different algal solutions of different carbon dioxide levels measured in terms of pH
value. For the 5 cases, the pH levels vary, starting with a control group without any carbon dioxide
dissolved in the solution, and four other solutions that whose pH decreased by an increment of around
0.5 pH value from the control group.
The dependent variable in the investigation was the 9 day algal growth in each solution. The growth of
algae is gauged by the change in the turbidity of the algal solutions from the initial and final day of
data collection. Turbidity is a measure of the loss of water transparency due to the presence of
particles in the water. One cause of turbidity is the presence of algae in water. In this experiment, the
main cause of the increase in turbidity is the increase

Summary Of The Taxpayer In Ray Bradbury s The Martian...
March 2000: The Taxpayer in Ray Bradbury s The Martian Chronicles, is an interchapter that focuses
on how Pritchard (a typical taxpayer) wants to get on the spaceship to Mars. The purpose of this short
chapter is to provide foreshadowing to both the atomic war and civilian immigration to Mars. The
reason why this chapter was written is that during 1950 (when this book was written), Ray Bradbury
wanted to voice his opinion that the construction of atomic bombs will lead to war. Pritchard says,
Wasn t he born right here in Ohio? Wasn t he a good citizen? Then why couldn t he go to Mars?
(Bradbury 31). He feels that he is entitled to board the spaceship because he paid his taxes. The phrase

Utilitarian s Vs. Deontologists
Utilitarian s vs Deontologists
On the topic of the conception of right action, deontologists and utilitarian s had opposing views on
what makes an action just. I argue that Bentham s view of determining right action, that an action is
right if it has the tendency to maximize pleasure, is the optimal one because we are not able to
determine the motivations of others with absolute certainty.
Deontologists believed that good actions are bad without good will, and that motivation only mattered
in determining a right action, not the outcome. Oppositely, utilitarian s believed that only the outcome
mattered in determining right action, not the motivations.
Immanuel Kant, a deontologist, determined good will as the concept of a will good in ... Show more

Kant gives an example for why lying is not a right action. He states that there is a man who needs
money even though he knows he will not be able to pay it back, his maxim is I will borrow money and
promise to pay it back, though I know that this will never be done (Kant 534). Kant explains that this
maxim would not work as a universal law because every banker would not believe someone who says
they are going to pay money back, therefore would never give out any loads. He goes on to explain
how people should treat each other. He argues that it is not acceptable to treat someone as a merely as
a means but at the same time as an ends (Kant 536). He says that to treat someone as a merely a means
is to treat them merely as a machine in ones plan and involving them without their ability to consent.
He argued that people needed to be treated as an ends meaning that people needed to be able to enter
agreements of their own free will and without manipulation (Kant 537). Kant believed that treating
people merely as a means was without good will and therefore could never produce a right action.
On the other hand, Jeremy Bentham, a utilitarian, argued that the right action was the one that
tendency it has to augment the happiness of the community is greater than any it has to diminish it
(Bentham 481). Bentham believed that the determination of a right action was the actions ability to
generate pleasure to the greatest amount of people and for the longest

Essay On Psych Myths
There exists a prevailing myth that psychology is only a soft science. Soft science, indicating that the
practice of psychology is less rigorous, less precise, and, to some degree, less worthy than the hard
sciences chemistry, biology, physics. This study, conducted by Maureen A, McCarthy and Sue Frantz
called Challenging the Status Quo: Evidence that Introductory Psychology Can Dispel Myths ,
attempts to do just that. Their hypothesis was that when given the chance to take an introduction to
psychology course, participants would walk away with enough information to distinguish psych fact
from psych fiction. This would indeed prove how valuable of a science psychology is. In the study,
students enrolled in a community college were placed into two identical introductory psychology
courses. Over the course of the class, instructors taught a number of lessons that addressed popular
myths or stereotypes about human psychology and behavior. These included old adages such as

Empirical Formula Of Zinc Iodide Lab Report
Introduction: The main purpose of this experiment is to determine the empirical formula of zinc
iodide, and in addition, validate the law of conservation of mass by precisely determining the
quantities of reactants and products. Empirical formula is the simplest type of chemical formula. The
simplest ratio of the number of atoms of each element in the compound is determined by the empirical
formal of a compound. Typically the ratio provided by the empirical formula contains whole numbers.
On the other hand, there are molecular formulas in which gives the definite number of atoms of the
element. Glucose (sugar) has a molecular formula of C6H12O6 and an empirical formula of CH2 O.

Biochemical Methods Of A Microorganism s Function
To test the capability of a microorganism s function, microbiologists have designed many different
biochemical methods/tests. There were seven biochemical tests that were used to determine the
identification of a gram negative unknown. The seven biochemical tests that were tested for in this
experiment were: Sulfur Indole Motility (SIM), Gelatin, Methyl Red (MR), Voges Proskauer (VP),
Citrate, Triple Sugar Iron Agar (TSIA), and Urease. These tests were inoculated and put inside a hot
room of 37◦ C for different lengths of times; 24 hours, 48 hours, or eight days. Using these tests,

The two categories are gram positive and gram negative. The cell walls of gram positive bacteria are
composed of several layers of peptidoglycan; within these peptidoglycan sheets, lays the teichoic
acids. In comparison to the Gram positives, the Gram negatives possess a thin peptidoglycan layer
with a porous lipopolysaccharide outer membrane. To determine whether a bacterium is gram negative
or positive, microbiologists can stain them. The majority of bacteria have no pigment. In the
beginning of the process, they are almost all clear. If a bacterium is stained with crystal violet, it will
turn a dark purple color. Once the ethanol is added, the gram positive bacterium will retain the purple
color, due to its thicker peptidoglycan layer, which can capture this dye in the teichoic acids. However,
the Gram negative bacterium will ultimately lose the color and in the end turn a pink hue, once the
safranin is added. The makes the very porous lipopolysaccharide layer in the Gram negative
bacterium, even more porous, causing it to lose the purple color. (Madigan et al, 25 27). The Sulfur
Indole Motility (SIM) is used to test for sulfur reduction, motility, and indole production. The casein
and animal tissue that SIM has, functions as the amino acids, wheras the thiosulfate that acts as the
iron and sulfur component. When the enzyme cysteine desulfurase catabolizes, Sulfur

R V. Bizi Case Analysis
Reasonable people will generally go a long distance to protect their loved ones. However, most
reasonable people would believe that killing someone in order to protect their loved ones would be
immoral and harmful. In the case of R v. Buzizi [2013], a man killed another in a supposed effort to
protect his cousin. On an early morning in Montréal, the accused s cousin and the victim ensued in a
brawl (Casey). The initial fight was broken up by a third party. A few moments later, the accused, Mr.
Buzizi, who saw the initial assault from afar, intervened and pushed the victim (Casey). Then, Mr.

Buzizi [2013]. The objective requirement needed to prove provocation and reduce the conviction to
manslaughter was not apparent in the case, as a reasonable or ordinary person would likely have left
the area, either by not intervening in the altercation in the first place or by deciding to leave once the
victim had dropped his knife. The subjective requirement needed to prove provocation was not met
either, as Buzizi s recollection of the events suggested that he had full awareness of his actions. Also,
although he had pent up emotions, when the victim dropped his knife, once again, there was an
obvious opportunity for Buzizi to think for a moment and make the decision to get away. This would
have mitigated the feelings of fear Buzizi stated he had felt, and it would not have come at the cost of
a life. However, Buzizi instead made the conscious decision to stab the victim multiple times, ending
his life. Since the appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada was actually accepted, this spells out a need
for the Criminal Code to clarify some of the ambiguities with respect to provocation. For instance, in
Section 232 (2) where it states that an ordinary person is deprived of self control, it may be wise to
specify the level of proportionality required between the lack of self control and the degree of the
wrongfulness of the provoking act. If the criminal law allows the threat of an exacto knife to justify
stabbing the holder of that exacto knife multiple times when their guard is down, then soon the
criminal law may allow future actions that are even more disproportionate to the circumstances to go

Negative Effects Of The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War brought an immense amount of tension and anger to the United States. Many
innocent lives of both Americans and Vietnam citizens were taken during the Vietnam War. The war
affected the United States in a predominately negative way. The spread of media, multiple bombings,
and distress in America caused such tribulation. Consequently, the Vietnam War caused more harm
than help to South Vietnam, as well as the United States.
Media emerged as a major factor in people s opinion on the war. The media showed photographs of
wounded soldiers on stretchers in Vietnam. Photograph and videos were shown to citizens, giving
them a new perspective on what was really happening in the war. Even videos of napalm drops were
recorded and Americans were finally able to view the reality of the war. Americans were shocked to
realize that this is what soldiers dealt with in Vietnam. Americans were also able to see the
environment that the soldiers had to live in as well. Vietnam was a jungle environment, which was
extremely unfamiliar to Americans. The United States participated in multiple bombings throughout
the course of the war. Operation Rolling Thunder contributed to a majority of these deaths. Operation
Rolling Thunder was initiated by President Lyndon B. Johnson. This sustained bombing of North
Vietnam caused over 900 U.S. aircrafts to be destroyed. Many Americans were killed as well. This

The During The Revolutionary War
During the rages leading up to the Revolutionary War, the multiple acts of parliament, such as the
Sugar and Stamp Acts, were used as tools over the colonies and kindled the hatred of the Crown for
the majority of the colonists, thus sparking the flame needed to begin the Revolutionary War. From the
very beginning of the colonization of North America by Great Britain, the colonies were looked down
upon by the so thought higher ups of the English parliament and people. After England s war with
France, the so called The Great War for Empire , and the subsequent money loss, Britain had to find a
source of funds, and quickly. There was no better place for England s lost funds to be recovered than
from the pockets of their small, defenseless colonies. As such, the English Parliament enacted the
Molasses Act. The Molasses Act, imposed on the English Colonies in 1733, was the answer to money
lost in England s war with France. This put a sixpence per gallon tax (equivalent to $0.09 American
Dollars; which was a lot in 1764) on all molasses, sugar, and rum coming in or out of the American
Colonies so that Britain could keep their finger on the pulse of the American market. This act did
almost nothing to appease the British, because very few Americans actually bought molasses after the
act passed, smuggling it in instead. (2) As the Molasses Act failed, George Grenville, the then prime
minister of Great Britain, came up with the Sugar Act. The Act was passed in 1764. It reduced

The Total Cost And Total Duration Of A Project Manager
In real situation, a project manager would certainly attempt to reduce total cost and total duration of a
project. Therefore, the best amount of leveling may occur when both the total cost and the total
duration are minimised. Generally, the total cost of a project will greatly depended on the total
duration. In other words, in most cases, a plan with minimum total project duration will stand for the
best amount of leveling. The best amount of leveling should take a balanced view with concern about
the client s demands, the project objects and the availability of different types of resources. For single
resource, in small projects, their resource could be leveled by inspection; in larger projects is to select
a target maximum for a resource. Moreover, when dealing with multiple resources, managers should
decide which resource should be leveled first, i.e., largest fluctuating resources, resource with largest
penality, high cost equipment. Other resource leveling method include extending the project duration,
compressing activities, and splitting activities.
Although it is ideal to have each task started and finished in the earliest period, this situation may not
be found in real cases. In most of time, the resource required to launching multiple tasks is greater
than the maximum available resources. Consequently, some tasks have to be delayed to start after
others are finished.
The steps of resource leveling are dramatically. As the previous figure shown above, each task

Tropez painted in 1893 is Paul Signac s most famous painting, capturing a perfect balance of sky,
earth and sea. In the center of the canvas is a huge umbrella pine painted deep green with bright
colours of light reflecting off the pine needles. The background of The Bonaventure Pine in St. Tropez
is a combination of many colours; blue, green, white, yellow, and orange. In the landscape behind the
pine tree the viewer can see a cloudy sky, mountains, and two boats sailing on the sea. Everything in
the background is painted in lighter colours to bring the illusion of depth onto the canvas, while
everything in the foreground from the path along the bottom right corner and the grass below the tree
are painted vibrantly. This painting can be found in the Museum Of Fine Arts in Houston

Uncontrolled Desire In Rossetti s Goblin Market
Stephen Cox
Professor Masi
Literature Section 2
November 6, 2017

through the love that Lizzie has for her sister, Laura. Lizzie does not let her desire get the best of her
when hearing the goblin men, she thrust a dimpled finger / In each ear, shut her eyes and ran (Rossetti
67 68). However, it is Laura that falls into a desire for the goblin men through curiosity: Curious
Laura chose to linger / Wondering at each merchant man (Rossetti 69 70). The difference in the sisters
understanding of desire cannot be better shown than in these lines. The goblin men are selling fruit
that Laura eventually gets her hands on. As she begins to eat, she stops herself. The desire
overwhelmed her to the point that when she did stop she knew not was it night or day (Rossetti 139).
The fruit in the proceeding lines could be symbolizing drugs the goblin men were

society and affects a lot of people including adolescents. Addictions is the outcome of a person with a
chronic disorder that can be influenced by biological, psychological, social aspects. Drugs can be in a
social setting and can be influenced by a loved one. Addiction can also be a part of a cycle that you
see among family members or people close to you. The definiton of addiction does a very nice job of
being relevant to drugs, but does not do a every good job adding the non drug addictions that undergo
the same patterns that addicts would go through.
When talking about the nature of drug abuse you have to talk about the chemicals. Dopamine is one of
these chemicals. Dopamine is the chemical that make things feel good. When using certain drugs the
drug will trigger dopamine, which then gives the addict or user an outstanding good feeling that can
lasts a short amount of time and then eventually goes away. With this overflow of dopamine in the
body and the feeling of feeling good is the driving factor of why a user/addict keeps using(Koehl,
lecture, 2017). When you have an addiction triggers of craving the drug are high when you are not
high on the drug. Even though the

I have chosen to look more at adipose (fatty tissue): Adipose is a specialised type of connective tissue which stores lipids. It collects in large numbers and is shaped to be large round or oval cells. Adipose has a similar function to that of fibrous tissue, which throughout the body connects by irregular network of strands to form a cushion layer to support blood vessels, nerves and other organs. Adipose is essential for insulation due to its low thermal capacity which allows the body to retain heat, thus functioning normally. Its other vital function is that of protection of delicate organs such as the eyes and kidneys. Fat cells offer this by forming liquid and being excellent at absorbing pressure as they cannot be flattened. Adipose tissue is needed for the body to turn to in times of need due to it being able to form a food reserve. Excess carbohydrates are made into glycogen and turned into fat and stored within adipose tissue which when energy is required by the body converts back. To many, music is more than a melody or a combination of sounds pulsating in ears; it brings out emotions, memories, and shared vibes. Whether a person is an avid listener or casually listens to music, everyone has a few specific albums that laid a foundation for the music they currently enjoy. Recently, I have rediscovered one of these albums, Madvillainy, when putting my old playlist on shuffle. The album consists of Daniel Dumile, the album s MC (rapper) who goes by many aliases, but most commonly as MF Doom, and Otis Jackson Jr., or Madlib. The underground hip hop album was released in 2004 and is now considered a classic by many. The album s 22 tracks consist of skits, instrumentals, and rapping with most tracks around two minutes long. Madvillainy has proven to me to be a masterpiece and a consistently good listen. One of the qualities that set Madvillainy apart from its peers, is the superb production performance given by Madlib. The album s production is magnificent, even to Pitchfork standards, saying, the samples are smart and never played out, and the production and rhymes reveal a determined sense of cooperation, as Doom spouts off his most brilliant lyrical change ups and production conscious playoffs (Pemberton). Girard Immanuel Soriano Ecological Principles Lab 9/25/15 Lab Group: I The Effect of C02 Concentration on the Photosynthetic Rate of Algae Introduction: How does the C02 concentration of algal solution affect the photosynthetic rate of Algae? In this experiment, algae solutions of different concentrations of carbon dioxide, on algal growth are tested to determine the effect of varying concentrations of carbon dioxide, on algal growth over a period of nine days. The rate of photosynthesis was deduced from the change in turbidity levels of the solution. There are three factors that affects the rate of photosynthesis: light intensity, temperature and carbon dioxide concentration. Photosynthesis involves several processes, two of them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Variables: The independent variable in this investigation is the carbon dioxide level in the algal solution. This is measured by determining the pH level of the solution as carbon dioxide gas is bubbled through the solution. When mixed, carbon dioxide and water form carbonic acid, thus decreasing the pH level of the solution. The test cases five different algal solutions of different carbon dioxide levels measured in terms of pH value. For the 5 cases, the pH levels vary, starting with a control group without any carbon dioxide dissolved in the solution, and four other solutions that whose pH decreased by an increment of around 0.5 pH value from the control group. The dependent variable in the investigation was the 9 day algal growth in each solution. The growth of algae is gauged by the change in the turbidity of the algal solutions from the initial and final day of data collection. Turbidity is a measure of the loss of water transparency due to the presence of particles in the water. One cause of turbidity is the presence of algae in water. In this experiment, the main cause of the increase in turbidity is the increase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

March 2000: The Taxpayer in Ray Bradbury s The Martian Chronicles, is an interchapter that focuses on how Pritchard (a typical taxpayer) wants to get on the spaceship to Mars. The purpose of this short chapter is to provide foreshadowing to both the atomic war and civilian immigration to Mars. The reason why this chapter was written is that during 1950 (when this book was written), Ray Bradbury wanted to voice his opinion that the construction of atomic bombs will lead to war. Pritchard says, Wasn t he born right here in Ohio? Wasn t he a good citizen? Then why couldn t he go to Mars? (Bradbury 31). I argue that Bentham s view of determining right action, that an action is right if it has the tendency to maximize pleasure, is the optimal one because we are not able to determine the motivations of others with absolute certainty. Deontologists believed that good actions are bad without good will, and that motivation only mattered in determining a right action, not the outcome. He states that there is a man who needs money even though he knows he will not be able to pay it back, his maxim is I will borrow money and promise to pay it back, though I know that this will never be done (Kant 534). Kant explains that this maxim would not work as a universal law because every banker would not believe someone who says they are going to pay money back, therefore would never give out any loads. He goes on to explain how people should treat each other. He argues that it is not acceptable to treat someone as a merely as a means but at the same time as an ends (Kant 536). He says that to treat someone as a merely a means is to treat them merely as a machine in ones plan and involving them without their ability to consent. He argued that people needed to be treated as an ends meaning that people needed to be able to enter agreements of their own free will and without manipulation (Kant 537). Kant believed that treating people merely as a means was without good will and therefore could never produce a right action. On the other hand, Jeremy Bentham, a utilitarian, argued that the right action was the one that tendency it has to augment the happiness of the community is greater than any it has to diminish it (Bentham 481). Empirical Formula Of Zinc Iodide Lab Report Introduction: The main purpose of this experiment is to determine the empirical formula of zinc iodide, and in addition, validate the law of conservation of mass by precisely determining the quantities of reactants and products. Empirical formula is the simplest type of chemical formula. The simplest ratio of the number of atoms of each element in the compound is determined by the empirical formal of a compound. Typically the ratio provided by the empirical formula contains whole numbers. On the other hand, there are molecular formulas in which gives the definite number of atoms of the element. The cell walls of gram positive bacteria are composed of several layers of peptidoglycan; within these peptidoglycan sheets, lays the teichoic acids. In comparison to the Gram positives, the Gram negatives possess a thin peptidoglycan layer with a porous lipopolysaccharide outer membrane. To determine whether a bacterium is gram negative or positive, microbiologists can stain them. The majority of bacteria have no pigment. In the beginning of the process, they are almost all clear. If a bacterium is stained with crystal violet, it will turn a dark purple color. Once the ethanol is added, the gram positive bacterium will retain the purple color, due to its thicker peptidoglycan layer, which can capture this dye in the teichoic acids. However, the Gram negative bacterium will ultimately lose the color and in the end turn a pink hue, once the safranin is added. The makes the very porous lipopolysaccharide layer in the Gram negative bacterium, even more porous, causing it to lose the purple color. (Madigan et al, 25 27). However, most reasonable people would believe that killing someone in order to protect their loved ones would be immoral and harmful. In the case of R v. The initial fight was broken up by a third party. A few moments later, the accused, Mr. Buzizi, who saw the initial assault from afar, intervened and pushed the victim (Casey). The objective requirement needed to prove provocation and reduce the conviction to manslaughter was not apparent in the case, as a reasonable or ordinary person would likely have left the area, either by not intervening in the altercation in the first place or by deciding to leave once the victim had dropped his knife. The subjective requirement needed to prove provocation was not met either, as Buzizi s recollection of the events suggested that he had full awareness of his actions. Also, although he had pent up emotions, when the victim dropped his knife, once again, there was an obvious opportunity for Buzizi to think for a moment and make the decision to get away. This would have mitigated the feelings of fear Buzizi stated he had felt, and it would not have come at the cost of a life. However, Buzizi instead made the conscious decision to stab the victim multiple times, ending his life. Since the appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada was actually accepted, this spells out a need for the Criminal Code to clarify some of the ambiguities with respect to provocation. For instance, in Section 232 (2) where it states that an ordinary person is deprived of self control, it may be wise to specify the level of proportionality required between the lack of self control and the degree of the wrongfulness of the provoking act. If the criminal law allows the threat of an exacto knife to justify stabbing the holder of that exacto knife multiple times when their guard is down, then soon the criminal law may allow future actions that are even more disproportionate to the circumstances to go relatively ... The During The Revolutionary War During the rages leading up to the Revolutionary War, the multiple acts of parliament, such as the Sugar and Stamp Acts, were used as tools over the colonies and kindled the hatred of the Crown for the majority of the colonists, thus sparking the flame needed to begin the Revolutionary War. From the very beginning of the colonization of North America by Great Britain, the colonies were looked down upon by the so thought higher ups of the English parliament and people. After England s war with France, the so called The Great War for Empire , and the subsequent money loss, Britain had to find a source of funds, and quickly. There was no better place for England s lost funds to be recovered than from the pockets of their small, defenseless colonies. As such, the English Parliament enacted the Molasses Act. The Molasses Act, imposed on the English Colonies in 1733, was the answer to money lost in England s war with France. This put a sixpence per gallon tax (equivalent to $0.09 American Dollars; which was a lot in 1764) on all molasses, sugar, and rum coming in or out of the American Colonies so that Britain could keep their finger on the pulse of the American market. This act did almost nothing to appease the British, because very few Americans actually bought molasses after the act passed, smuggling it in instead. Therefore, the best amount of leveling may occur when both the total cost and the total duration are minimised. Generally, the total cost of a project will greatly depended on the total duration. In other words, in most cases, a plan with minimum total project duration will stand for the best amount of leveling. The best amount of leveling should take a balanced view with concern about the client s demands, the project objects and the availability of different types of resources. For single resource, in small projects, their resource could be leveled by inspection; in larger projects is to select a target maximum for a resource. Moreover, when dealing with multiple resources, managers should decide which resource should be leveled first, i.e., largest fluctuating resources, resource with largest penality, high cost equipment. Other resource leveling method include extending the project duration, compressing activities, and splitting activities. Although it is ideal to have each task started and finished in the earliest period, this situation may not be found in real cases. Cristiana Rossetti s Goblin Market is a riveting tale about two sisters who handle desire differently. One knows desire exists, but has the maturity and courage to not give in to her own yearnings, whereas the other cannot control her desires and pays dearly for them. Love is a strong theme in Goblin Market and is shown through the love that Lizzie has for her sister, Laura. Lizzie does not let her desire get the best of her when hearing the goblin men, she thrust a dimpled finger / In each ear, shut her eyes and ran (Rossetti 67 68). However, it is Laura that falls into a desire for the goblin men through curiosity: Curious Laura chose to linger / Wondering at each merchant man (Rossetti 69 70). The difference in the sisters understanding of desire cannot be better shown than in these lines. The goblin men are selling fruit that Laura eventually gets her hands on. What is addiction and how does if affect your life, or can addiction be more than just drugs and alcohol? Addiction has become a very big problem in our society and affects a lot of people including adolescents. Addictions is the outcome of a person with a chronic disorder that can be influenced by biological, psychological, social aspects. Drugs can be in a social setting and can be influenced by a loved one. Addiction can also be a part of a cycle that you see among family members or people close to you. The definiton of addiction does a very nice job of being relevant to drugs, but does not do a every good job adding the non drug addictions that undergo the same patterns that addicts would go through. When talking about the nature of drug abuse you have to talk about the chemicals. Dopamine is one of these chemicals. Dopamine is the chemical that make things feel good. When using certain drugs the drug will trigger dopamine, which then gives the addict or user an outstanding good feeling that can lasts a short amount of time and then eventually goes away. With this overflow of dopamine in the body and the feeling of feeling good is the driving factor of why a user/addict keeps using(Koehl, lecture, 2017).
