Cognitive Psychology Essay
Crafting an essay on cognitive psychology poses a unique set of challenges, demanding a
delicate balance between theoretical depth and practical application. The field itself is vast,
encompassing a myriad of intricate concepts, theories, and research findings that necessitate a
comprehensive understanding. Delving into the complexities of cognitive processes, memory,
perception, problem-solving, and decision-making requires a meticulous approach to grasp the
nuances involved.
One of the primary difficulties lies in synthesizing information from various sources and
integrating divergent viewpoints. The interdisciplinary nature of cognitive psychology, drawing
from neuroscience, philosophy, and computer science, adds an additional layer of complexity.
Ensuring that the essay is not just a regurgitation of facts but a critical analysis that demonstrates
a nuanced understanding can be quite challenging.
Moreover, staying abreast of the latest developments and research findings in the rapidly
evolving field is a perpetual task. The dynamic nature of cognitive psychology means that
staying current is crucial, but it also presents a constant challenge for essayists aiming to provide
up-to-date and relevant content.
Another hurdle is striking the right balance between technical jargon and accessibility. Cognitive
psychology involves a wealth of specialized terminology, and conveying these concepts in a
manner that is both informative and understandable to a diverse audience is no small feat.
Finding this equilibrium requires a keen awareness of the target audience and a skillful use of
language.
In conclusion, navigating the complexities of cognitive psychology to produce a well-crafted
essay demands time, dedication, and a thorough understanding of the subject matter. However,
the process is not without its rewards, as it offers the opportunity to delve deep into the
intricacies of the human mind. For those seeking assistance with essays on various topics,
including cognitive psychology, professional services likeHelpWriting.net provide a platform
where similar essays and much more can be ordered to aid in the academic journey.

Holden Caulfield Banned
Should The Catcher in the Rye be banned from being taught at high schools? J.D.
Salinger wrote this novel about a 16 year old named Holden Caulfield. Holden is
your not so average teenager. He is more of a woe is me kind of teenager. Holden
has two siblings and one dead sibling He goes to expensive private schools, but
flunks out of them because he doesn t apply himself. The main part in this book is
when Holden takes a three day vacation in New York City to get away from Pencey
Prep and to let his parents cool off after they get their letter about Holden flunking
out of Pencey. The vacation is only three days long, but seems to be a lot longer
than three days. There are a lot of places in this book that are extremely controversial.

Holden gets drunk multiple times in the book and he smokes quit a bit. Keep in
mind, Holden is 16 years old and the drinking age limit is 18 back in this time. He
gets away with drinking illegally. His smoking is legal, but is not a good influence
on sophomores in high school. This book makes it seem like it is okay to do
illegal things and to smoke. Smoking is unhealthy and no one should do it.
Drinking illegally isn t okay and could lead to bad things. This is also making it seem
like it s easy to get away with undeage drinking.
The last controversial thing is Holden is constantly lying and using bad language.
He says the f word, goddam, hell, etc. so many times. He lies about who he is, his
name, where he s from, etc. He is making it okay to lie and cuss. Even if everyone
does it, he does it so much it s not very good influencing on high school students.
He talks like a sailor which could lead people that look up to Holden, to start to cuss
as well, just because Holden does. More than likely, people are going to listen to
and copy their idol. Say Holden is their idol, they will more than likely start copying

The Potato Virus Essay
Introduction
Potato virus X (PVX) is a plant RNA virus. Its infection cycle includes invasion of
the host plant, RNA replication, translation of viral proteins, cell to cell movement
and release of new virions. Upon infection, PVX releases its plus strand RNA
genome from the virion and produces a viral replicase using host translation
machinery. The replicase synthesizes minus strand RNA. Subsequently new plus
strand genomic RNA (gRNA) and subgenomic RNAs (sgRNAs) are produced.
Movement and coat proteins are translated from the sgRNAs for encapsidation and
movement through plasmodesmata. In this mini review, all aspects of the virus
infection cycle of PVX are discussed.

The 5 terminus has a methylguanosine cap and the 3 terminus consists of a poly(A)
tail [7]. The genome contains five open reading frames (ORFs), see figure 1A.
The 5 proximal ORF (ORF1) can be translated directly from the gRNA by host
translation machinery. ORF1 encodes a 165kDa replicase, which consists of three
domains. These include a methyltransferase , helicase and RNA dependent RNA
polymerase (RdRp) domain. Interestingly the three domains remain as one protein,
whereas it is often cleaved into separate subunits in other plant viruses.
The other ORFs are translated from subgenomic RNAs (sgRNAs), see figure 1B.
ORF2 4 overlap and are therefore called the triple gene block (TGB). The encoded
proteins are TGB1, TGB2 and TGB3 respectively. TGB1 is a 25kDa protein with a
RNA helicase motif similar to the one found in the viral replicase. TGB2/3 contain
sequences for transmembrane domains and are ER associated. TGB1 is expressed
from its own 2.1kb sgRNA (sgRNA1) whereas TGB2/3 are both expressed from
the same 1.4kb sgRNA (sgRNA2). This co translation occurs through leaky
scanning. All three TGB proteins are associated with cell to cell movement through
plasmodesmata (PD) [8]. ORF5 is expressed from a separate sgRNA of 0.9kb
(sgRNA3) and encodes the coat protein (CP). CP is required both for encapsidation
and cell to cell movement. Figure 1 Schematic visualization of the
The Manchurian Candidate by Johnathan Demme Essay
The Manchurian Candidate, Johnathan Demme directed the remake. Both films
portray paranoia, mind control, and conspiracy. Frankenheimer utilizes satire,
humor, and symbolism to convey the themes, whereas, Demme uses modern fears,
camera angles and focus, and mental illness to achieve similar results. Many of the
elements of the 2004 remake have been modernized. While the original movie
placed the soldiers in Korea, the remake placed them in Kuwait. Demme did
changed the location of the war, in order to appeal to current fears and suspicions. In
1962, the threat of communism was at the forefront of everyone s thoughts. However,
during 2004, only three years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, citizens were no longer

The film switches between perspectives of the ladies garden party and the
communist officials to stress the comic surrealism of the situation. The calm and
genteel ladies garden party is a stark contrast to the evil plotting of the communists.
Image overlay as well as soft lighting are also used to convey the surrealism and
dreamlike quality. The absurd way that Eleanor s husband, Senator Iselin, presents
the supposed number (which he is constantly changing) of communists in the state
department, satirizes the Red Scare and McCarthyism. Many of the accused
communists during the red scare were merely from wild speculation caused by
irrational fear and political movements to get rid of the opposition. It was also
ironic that Eleanor, who had her husband present the fake number of communists,
was actually the communist herself. The role of a mother is also satirized in the
film. The 1950 s portrayed mothers as pure and wholesome, however Eleanor is
portrayed as the evil and conniving perpetrator of peril. The remake focused on
keeping the audience and Major Marco in a constant state of paranoia and
uncertainty. In the original movie, the audience is shown, as well as told by the
narrator, that the platoon was captured and brainwashed by communists. Whereas, in
the remake, Major Marco and the
Ancient Art Of South And Southeast Asia
In early centuries CE, the art of South and Southeast Asia assisted in capturing the
beauty of surrounding cultures. But most importantly, the art helped spread religion
such as Buddhism and Hinduism, into surrounding areas. This religious advance
helped form beautiful pieces featuring important religious figures such as Buddha.
Two examples are the Standing Figure of Buddha by Takht iBahi Gandhara and the
Bodhisattva Maitreya by an unknown artist. Both figures were created in the second
and third centuries CE and stand between forty and forty five inches tall. The height
and time period, however, are not the only similarities between the two. There are
multiple similarities and differences between the Standing Figure of Buddha by Takht
iBahi Gandhara, and the Bodhisattva Maitreya by an unknown artist. The similarities
between the two figures include Buddhist characteristics such as the cranial bump,
nimbus, elongated ears, and draped robe, and the differences include the amount of
detail featured in each piece. The main similarities between the two figures are the
Buddhist characteristics featured in the detail of each sculpture. By Buddhist
characteristics I mean the details found in Buddhist text written by Kushan era
sculptors, that describe the features of a Buddha s body. There are very specific
details or characteristics that must be included in all figures of Buddha to show
respect. Some features and characteristics found in the first sculpture
Franz Marc Essay
Introduction
Franz Marc was a German artist and printmaker, and also one of the key statistics
of the German Expressionist movement. Franz Marc was born in February 8, 1880
in Munich and past away in March 4, 1916, eventually Marc was only 36 years old.
Wilhelm, the father, was an expert landscape painter; his mother, Sophie, was a strict
Calvinist. Marc began to study at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich in 1900. In 1903
and 1907, he spent time in France, intensely in Paris, visiting the city s museums and
copying many paintings, a conventional way for artists to study and improve
technique.
Marc made sixty prints in woodcut and lithography. Most of his developed work
portrays animals, usually in natural surroundings. His work is ... Show more content

The blue, as Marc prescribed, gives a peaceful note to the agitated atmosphere. He
recollects an illusionistic portrayal within which he seeks to form a rich colour
composition that reflects the vitality of his subject. The principal achievement in Red
Horses is this portrayal of the uninhibited energy of nature using completely
naturalistic colours. 2. Figure : Tierschicksale by Franz Marc
This Tierschicksale is one of the most popular landscapes drawn by Franz Marc. It
characteristic of the sense of apocalypse that began to taint Marc s work and is relate
to his feelings on the forthcoming war.
This painting used of numerous elements and principles of design. Using line
showing the contrast between the animal and the floras. Also, the value (tone) and
colour used containing dark and light in colours, the tone of the colour on the right
of the painting is darker, and lighter colour on the left. Moreover, this landscape
created an emphasis (focal point). An animal is clearly shown in the central of the
landscape and creates a focal dominance.
Marc clarifies that he began to see the ugliness in animals which he had previously
thought only existed in humans. The use of lines and geometric shapes in this
landscape carried the emotional charge previously conveyed by animals. This
landscape related to Marc s ideas on the impending war. Marc was part of the school
of thought that the war would purify and redeem the
Islam Through Western Eyes Analysis
This type of primary source is a written document by Jonathan Lyons in which he
describes Islam through western eyes. In Islam Through Western Eyes, Jonathan
Lyons unloads Western propensities for contemplating Islam, directing a watchful
examination of the West s great totalizing story crosswise over one thousand years of
history. He watches the talk s destructive consequences for the sociologies, including
human science, legislative issues, theory, religious philosophy, worldwide relations,
security studies, and human rights grant. He takes after its influence on research,
speeches, political system, and government approach, keeping the West from reacting
viably to its most noteworthy twenty first century challenges: the ascent of Islamic

Relationship Between Brand And Brand Engagement
Based on previous research studies, the aim of this paper was to examine the
relationship between characteristics of brand posts on the intention of users to engage
with the brand in Twitter, to explore in depth dimensions of online brand engagement,
which include cognition, affect, and behavior and the effect of this online brand
engagement on brand loyalty and e word of mouth. . Furthermore, this study tried to
test the proposed conceptual model of online brand engagement that supported
engagement between the antecedents and behavior related outcomes associated with
following brands on Twitter. Specifically, the study examined whether perceived
Twitter brand account features (information quality, entertainment, vividness and
interactivity) predicted the three aspects of online brand engagement (cognitive,
affective and behavioral), and further investigated whether online engagement with
brands on Twitter could lead to behavior related outcomes such as brand loyalty and e
word of mouth.
This examination occurred by administering a survey in order to test and give a clear
answer to the research questions and the proposed research model that was
formulated and presented in details in the introduction part.
As this paper contributes to the field of brand engagement by presenting a conceptual
model of brand engagement on online social media platforms specifically in Twitter
and confirming it through empirical analysis, the findings of the study could present

Saltwater Crocodile Research Paper
The Saltwater Crocodile The saltwater crocodile is one of the largest non
mammalian creatures. It also lives to about 70 years and weighs about 1200
pounds for a male, and 200 pounds for a female. The length of a male varies
between 14 17 ft. While the females length is between 7.5 11 ft. All of these
numbers are of averages of adult saltwater crocodiles. Now I will compare four
systems of a crocodile to a human. In the circulatory system, the crocodile has a
four chambered heart, as well as a double looped circulatory system. They breathe
using their lungs in and under water. The saltwater crocodile can be submerged for
quite a while. Up to 8 hours as the longest recording ever known. They use
conservation of the oxygen and can survive in some sub temperature ponds. This
occurs when the crocodile heads too far north. As for humans, we can obviously
breathe using our lungs as well. Though we can not submerge and conserve oxygen
as a crocodile can. It is the same concept anyway, just made for their own habitat....

It all starts at the super strong jaw of the saltwater crocodile. It can just brutally
snap bones of a once living animal, like nothing. Then, it heads south, where the
crocodile uses the esophagus and heads past the trachea. It continues on its path to
the stomach, where it has incredibly strong digestive acids. It needs this due to the
way it devours animals. It goes to the intestines that sort out what is needed and
what is not needed. Finally, to remove and dispose the waste, it leaves through the
cloaca. All of the main digestive parts are the same to humans, except for the
cloaca, or human anus. It is pretty similar, but the crocodile has more of a
incomplete disposal. We have a full one, depending on what we eat. The crocodile
just has a quick, rapid disposal, not much to work on, just what needs to be
Semiotic Analysis
A Semiotic Analysis: There s A Soldier In All Of Us
In today s society, people are significantly influenced by the media. Mediated
messages are often deliberate and appeal to specific audiences based on race, gender,
ethnicity, social status, education level, political views, and much more. By applying
semiotics to everyday life, we can decipher meaning within texts, film, and
photography in a more constructive way. Here, it becomes evident that semiotics is a
fundamental concept that enables better communication. Through a semiotic analysis
of the 2010 Call of Duty (COD): Black Ops There s A SoldierIn All Of Us

These celebrities are recognizable in American popular culture and therefore appeal to
the American public. Another cultural code embedded in this trailer is created by the
use of background music. Rolling Stones Gimme Shelter (1969), is played throughout
the commercial, which targets members of older generations in America. This
advertisement also indicates that both men and women attain power and authority in
this video game, just as they do in actual U.S. military matters. As a society, we
carry these cultural codes and understandings of life over to our exposure to media
productions, which generates meaning within them. Through the COD: Black Ops
trailer, advertisers were able to transmit messages to a range people with different
social classes, education levels, political ideologies, and worldviews. Because the
COD: Black Ops commercial is so rich in signifiers, it is able to appeal to many
different types audiences. We can say that fun and excitement are the signified in
this commercial and that a number of signifiers demonstrate this, including signs of
adrenaline and smiles/laughter on the faces of different characters involved, as well
as a signifier that even famous people are having fun playing this video game.
Through the use of associations between signifiers and signified, consumers are
encouraged to buy this video game since everyone is doing it . As Berger points out,
texts, such as films and TV, are like languages . Language applies
The Pianist s Depictions of Historical Events
The Pianist s Depictions of Historical Events
The Warsaw ghetto uprising fighters was formed when Jews in Poland learned that
the Germans main plan was to eradicate the Jews completely. Before the Jews learned
about the plan of Nazis, they did not carried out acts resistance against their enemies.
The driving force that started this resistance was that if Nazi plan was to destroy the
ghetto, resisting these perpetrators was not an option to the Jews but a survival
mechanism. Einwohner states that
the coalitions of Jewish activists in the Warsaw Ghetto used a small arsenal of
smuggled weapons and homemade explosives to resist the Nazis attempts to deport
them to the death camp Treblinka.
The evidences demonstrated in Polanski s film contradict this statement; that is, the
Warsaw ghetto fighters came into existence because they wanted to defeat Nazi
German. With the little weapons that the ghetto fighters had, the supposition depicted
in the film that they wanted to fight off the Germans in order to defeat them can
easily to refuted. The ghetto uprising also inspired many uprisings to occur in places
outside of Poland where Jews are imprisoned or held. However, by the film was
unable was again to illustrate that.
According to KieЕјun (2006, p. 41) states that the animosity of Nazi Germans was
even more acutely felt in Poland no Polish family had escaped the cruelty of the
German occupant, which in my opinion, justifies the theory that the Warsaw Uprising

Early Childhood Education Reflection Paper
As I reflect on the past eight weeks, my insights on Early Childhood Education have
given me a better understanding of issues and trends in Early Childhood Education.
As I mastered this course, I have also become more knowledgeable and understanding
of the needs of children and families in my community. Another way that I have been
strengthened was through discussions and sharing blogs with my colleagues. On the
other hand, researching professional early childhood educationtopics and viewing
multimedia presentations were beneficial to my professional growth as well. I felt
that the multimedia were definitely the meat of this course. Therefore, I am
knowledgeable with information than before. As an early childhood educator, and
regarding changing demographics and diversity findings, I am significantly
impacted on my professional over my initial reaction. However, I have learned that
diversity is challenging, as the invasion of immigrants and refugees into the U.S.
from different parts of the world is changing the country s demographics. According
to Boutte, G. S. (2008), in a rapidly changing world, some groups have greater
societal benefits than others. Therefore, educators should show love as they face the
challenge of preparing students from diverse populations by considering their
background because of race, ethnicity, gender, class, language, religion, ability or age
(p. 166). For this reason, early childhood educators should welcome culturally diverse
environments
Debate on Gun Control
The Debate on Gun Control The debate concerning gun control has recently
become as popular as ever. People question if guns are really necessary. Some
wonder that if the government regulates who has the right to own a gun crime
rates and death could decrease in the Unites States. Others believe that guns aren t
to blame for deaths; guns don t kill people, people kill people . How can we
conclude which side is right if they both strongly believe in their argument? There
are always two sides to an argument; the only way to know which is right is to look
at the facts.
Gun Control means that the government will regulate the sale and ownership of
firearms. Therefore, before getting a permit to carry a gun you will get a detailed
background check to make sure you are not an ex felon or anything that could be a
threat. This sounds great to many people, but there is one snag in the plan; criminals
will not get their guns registered. If the government begins to regulate ownership of
guns, it will not stop criminals from owning one.
Since 1950, every public mass shooting (with the exception of one) in the U.S. has
occurred in a place where guns are prohibited to carry. Some people just believe
this is a coincidence, or that it is just ironic. This is not the case. People who are in
charge of the mass shootings want to feel as though they have control of the
situation, and if they are the only one carrying a gun they will have the upper hand in
the situation. There is a reason
Brutus s Responsibility In Julius Caesar
Honourable people have been known to perform credible acts typically characterized
by integrity and candor which have earned them the respect of many people.
Throughout the entire play, Brutus has shown various examples of an appropriate
claim to honour which is what makes him the most honourable man. He has been
able to stand by his morals, take responsibility for his actions, and was able to earn
the respect of many characters in the play, including his enemies.
With the lingering idea of Julius Caesar s rise to dictatorial power, many of the
Roman politicians are beginning to become anxious, since an emperor of Rome
would mean an end to the Roman republic and their own power. In spite of this,
many of them seek to end his life and want Brutus to join in on the conspiracy.
Brutus agrees to join the conspiracy but only because it helps the Roman people.
Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. (3.2.21) In Brutus speech
he justifies that his morals of putting the Roman people first were always true, and
that the stabbing of Caesar was necessary in upholding those morals. We are shown
that even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this he was able to realize his mistakes and take accountability for his own
actions. This is through his own suicide in the Battle of Philippi, when he realized
that the assassination of Caesar did not stop the ruination of Rome, rather it was
the cause of it through the civil war. He believed that he was the cause of ruination
of Rome, and so his suicide was his means to give the Roman people what they
deserve. It is more worthy to leap in ourselves than tarry till they push us. (5.5.28
29) In his final hour, Brutus was still able to make the most noble decision for the
betterment of Rome, rather than to be a selfish man and fight for himself and his
dignity, rather than to die for the Roman
Vaccination Is The Most Important Factor

Vaccines Immunization is defined as the process of giving immunity to prevent
infectious diseases by artificial methods (The Hutchinson Unabridged
Encyclopedia). Statistics show that vaccines prevent more than 2.5 million child
deaths per year (Davey, et al 5). These deaths typically occur in children under the
age of 5. Immunizations are arguably one of the most important benefits of modern
medicine offered in our country. Vaccines are given to prevent a serious disease or
illness. They are generally only given to healthy people to help boost immunity
(Sanford, S52). Without vaccines diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella
(MMR), polio (IPV or OPV), diphtheria tetanus and acellular pertussis (DTaP),
Haemophilus Influenzae type b (HIB) and Hepatitis (HEP A, B, C) would still be
prevalent (Sanford, S61). Within the 21st century, there have been many positive
changes occurring throughout our world. Vaccinationis the most important factor in
reduction of deaths or serious diseases in children under the age of 5 (Kennedy, 1).
Controversy remains if whether the risk of side effects from the vaccines, outweigh
the risk of contracting the disease. Vaccinations have proven to be an effective
method of preventing serious diseases, which are the cause of many childhood
illnesses that often result in fatality (Kennedy, 1). Understanding the importance of
vaccines is crucial. Vaccines are not only
The Construction Of Stonehenge
The Stonehenge is one of the most recognizable and famous ring of standing stones
that have fascinated archaeologists, historians and the general public for many
years. There are many different theories about when it was built and why it was
built. Stonehenge was built in Britain. The Stonehenge symbolizes mystery, power,
and endurance and there are 80 stones all together and all weighing 4 tons and 50
tons teach and were approximately built 5,000 years ago. Some people speculated
that it was a temple made for the worship of ancient earth gods. The ancients would
have been worth the effort and investment that it took to construct Stonehenge. The
natives of England constructed Stonehenge by digging with deer antlers as picks,
the circle is 320 feet in diameter, and the ditch itself is 20 feet wide and 7 feet deep.
Modern experiments have shown that these tools were more than equal to the great
task of earth digging and moving. Modern theories speculate that the stones were
dragged by roller and sledge from the inland mountains to the headwaters of Milford
Haven. Modern work studies estimate that at least 600 men would have been needed
just to get each stone past this obstacle. Some people argue that space aliens
constructed Stonehenge. Others argue that Stonehenge was a place of ancient
healing, and archaeologists have discovered skeletons at the site riddled with... Show

Analysis Of A Beautiful Mind
I chose the film A Beautiful Mind produced in 2001.
The main character is John Forbes Nash, Jr. portrayed by Russell Crowe.
The heart, not the mind is where the true meaning of life is found. A mathematical
genius who is fixated on finding an original idea to ensure his legacy embarks on a
mission with the belief that mathematics will lead him to a higher truth. I cannot
waste time with these classes and these books, memorizing the weak assumptions of
lesser mortals. I need to look through to the governing dynamics. Find a truly
original idea. That s the only way I ll ever distinguish myself. It s the only way that I
ll ever [matter].
An inspiring journey to self awareness and a first hand look inside the mind of a man
that struggles with love, solitude, desperation, determination and delusions. In A
Beautiful Mind is where you will see how real, and how completely supportable the
delusions of a schizophrenic appear to the person afflicted. Genius and schizophrenia
can both exist in the same personality. He had been looking for the meaning of life in
the logic of the mind and reason, but found it rather in the logic of the heart and the
love of another human being.
Very rarely will a film allow us to observe mental illness such as schizophrenia from
inside the mind of the afflicted. A Beautiful Mind does this very well by appealing to
our moral sense. Throughout the first half of the film, we are introduced to characters
and situations that we are led to

They re middle of the pack in other categories but this assessment is more of an eye
test. Rose and Melo have never been known as defensive players but they are
trying. They have picked up their intensity on the defensive end. Courtney Lee and
Noah add some energy and decent defensive skills that add to the overall team D
which can be contagious. There have been stretches during games where they feed
off of each other s energy on the defensive end, which translates into positive
offensive positions. They are playing with a sense of urgency that I haven t seen in

Most people know SEALs for their ability to initiate lethal direct action strikes
equally well from air and land. The first predecessors to the SEALs were in World
War II and in Korea, this group of men were made up of (Army) Scouts and (Navy)
Raiders; Naval Combat Demolition Units (NCDUs), Office of strategic Services
Operational Swimmers, Navy Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs), and Motor
Torpedo Boat Squadrons. Later the group was disbanded, but the UDTs were
continuously used later on in other separate wars. Many of the tactics that were used
in WWII are still practiced by Navy SEALs today. These missions included beach and
hydro reconnaissance, explosive cable and net cutting; explosive destruction of
underwater obstacles to enable major amphibious landings; submarine operations, and
the locating and marking of mines for minesweepers.
The infamous war that the UDTs participated in was the Korean War also known
as the Forgotten War , in 1960 the North Korean army invaded South Korea. The
first detachment to the war from the United States contained eleven men from UDT

World War II, to their advantage and targeted specified targets such as, bridges and
coastal cities. As the war proceeded they developed a close working relationship with

Stephen Berkoff s The Things I Know To Be True
4) How did the work of established and recognised theatre practitioners, and/or the
work of live theatre, influence the way in which your devised response developed?
The most prominent influence on our production were Frantic Assembly, whose
2015 play The Things I Know To Be True provided a groundwork for our production.
The play handles serious issues in a realistic but also very gentle way; showing
shades of light in a dark world. It also uses movement as an extension of acting, an
idea we drew upon several times.
The first element of this production which influenced our piece was in terms of
structure. Within both our play and Frantic s a phone call is used as the opening

In this piece Berkoff decided to use frames as the sole piece of set; one for each
member of the ensemble. We also used frames, again one for each member of the
ensemble, alongside other pieces of set. These came into their own in the second
half of the play. For example, in the final scene we created a courtroom using just
frames, and built this on stage during Sierra s speech. We felt that this was a
compelling use of set, as Sierra s moment of calm thoughtfulness is cut short by her
rapist building a witness box around her. The crudeness of this image is an homage
to the heightened politicised tableaux of Brecht; it is an example of gestus, and how
the simple moving of a frame represents victims who are never able to escape the

Special Forces expert marksmen as a sniper. His transformation of becoming a
young, poor boy into a lethal and extremely dangerous weapon will change him
forever, and make him choose intense decisions. All through the book of I Am a

of the most know whales in the Sea World franchise, is now thirty two years old.
He was captured at the age of two by, which means he has been in captivity for

The Ten Commandments
The movie the author would like to critique is probably one of the greatest movies of
all time. The movie is The Ten Commandments, starring Charlton Heston, Yul
Brenner, and Cecil B. DeMille. If the author were a real critic like Gene Siskel, and
Roger Ebert, she would give this movie two thumbs up. The author will probably be
giving her, interpretation of this movie all the way through this paper because she
feels that in order to understand what s being critiqued you have to understand the
movie. Of course this is a movie that the author has seen a number of times, and every

For some reason back in the fifties the bible was a good source for movies, and you
have to understand one of the reasons will be found in the strength of genre
movies. For the director, there were certain advantages with working within a given
genre. Because the characters, the plot, and the conventions were already
established, they provided the director with a kind of cinematic shorthand greatly
simplified the task of storytelling. (Boggs, M., Petrie, D., 2008 7th Ed.) The
original movie was shot in 1923 as a silent film which was also directed by Cecil
Demille. The cast of the 1956 remake of the Ten Commandmentswere cast from the
original silent film. The production of this film was good for that time period. The
production crew had it easy when it came to the cast, due to most of the cast came
from the original film from 1923. The props, scene, and setting that the production
crew used were great, for an example in the film Ten Commandments, the scene with
Moses bringing down the ten commandments from the mountain top after talking
with God. When you look at that scene the production crew does a good job with
the dark clouds and the fire like orange colors in the setting of the clouds. The
mountain that was in the back ground of Moses really stood out in that scene, when
Moses gave the ten commandment to the children of Israel, he stood on the mountain
and with his red over garment blowing in the wind
Star Of Life
I have been asked, if you real think that the Star of Life s history comes from the
stories in the Bible, then where did they get the ideas for the meanings of the stars

reading the Bible when they came up with the Star of Life and each of the star s

Molar Mass Case Study
Molar mass is the sum of the masses of each atoms in a compound or element. For
example, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) , a gas that is a combination of carbon and
oxygen, has a molar mass of approximately 44.01 g/mol. The unit that we ll be
using in molar mass is g/mol and it is read as grams per mole. The table on the right
side is the list of the atomic masses of elements that are commonly used in solving
problems. If you think that atomic massand molar mass is just the same then you got
it wrong. Molar mass and atomic mass is very different to each other. Atomic mass is
just the mass of an atom that is denoted by amu.

Most Important Qualities Of The ANZAC Legend
The ANZAC Legend is said to contain some of the most important qualities of
Australians and New Zealanders today. Sir John Monash, Commander of the
Australian forces on the Western Front, later wrote of the Australians as intelligent,
physically superior, independent, resourceful, brave and easy to lead but difficult to
drive (Cameron, Young, Lawless, 2002, pg 49). Even though Australians display
these qualities, this Legend is no longer relevant in society today due to the fact that
it excludes Australians who aren t from a white European background, is biased
towards the qualities of Australians and it brands them as the Legend states.

254). These qualities are then heavily recognised in Australia s National Identity.
Simpson and his donkey is an excellent demonstration of the ANZAC Legend. The
courage John Simpson showed when he lead his donkey through heavy fire to rescue
the wounded combined with the mateship he demonstrated towards other ANZAC
soldiers is a clear demonstration of the qualities of the Legend in action (Cameron,
Young, Lawless, 2002, p. 51). He became a familiar sight to all and the actions he
demonstrated are still heavily linked to the ANZAC Legend today.
The ANZAC Legend today is an important aspect of Australia s history and is
significant to all Australian s today. It is believed that the importance of the Gallipoli
Campaign is due to the fact that this was the first War Australia fought in as a
nation and that in the first news report which reached Australia, the soldiers were
praised for their courage and gallantry (Carrodus, et al., 2012). This Legend is
heavily praised in Australia and it is of very high importance. ANZAC Day,
commemorating the Gallipoli landing became a public holiday in 1927, celebrated
on the 25th of April, and each year more and more people are taking part in
ANZAC celebrations, such as dawn services and marches (Carrodus, 2012). During
the 1980 s, ANZAC Day has grown in significance. Reasons for this include the
popularity of films and documentaries such
Advantages And Differences Of Backpackers
Backpackers will usually choose budget accommodations during their trip. The
budget accommodations that commonly used by backpackers are such as hostels,
guest houses and homes of friends and relatives, however backpackers do also stayed
in hotels, bed breakfasts, and campervans (Richards and Wilson, 2004). The choice of
accommodation has a slightly difference between Westerners and Asians. This might
be caused of the Western travellers usually plan the tripalone however friends are the
main external source that involved. While Asian travellers seem to have more
preference to involve their friends and relatives when planning the trip rather than
planning it on their own. This could be explained by differences in culture and
society which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides this, backpackers usually carry out a wider variety of activities during
their trips than regular travellers because they want to achieve the travel purpose.
Their activities are almost similar with those regular tourists ones which consists
of cultural sightseeing , walk around and spend time in cafes, while they have also
some more exact backpack activities which are wildlife and nature observation,
hanging out and join some extreme sports. However, they do also visited to
nightclubs and shops (Richards and Wilson, 2004). Backpackers are mostly attained
related pre travel information from Internet, other backpackers, guide books, travel
agencies, previous experience, newspapers/magazines, tour operators, brochures,
medias and airlines. When during the trip, information is usually collected from
accommodation providers and other backpackers. The rate of backpackers using
guidebooks is higher than regular tourists (Conrady and Buck, 2010). In term of the
purchase power, the average expenditure of Europeans spent in international
destinations for their trips was €95 per night (Conrady and Buck, 2010). In a
comparison, the average expenditure of backpackers is quite low, specifically those
backpackers with more experiences. However, the average length of stay of
backpackers in a destination is usually longer than regular
The Relationship Between Mental Disorders And How It

This paper will discuss the relationship between mental disorders and how it can be
conducive to criminal behavior. Throughout the years humans have been blighted

episodes with the need to want to hurt others. There are several reasons why some
individuals turn to crime, but the question is, how is it that the human mind
works, and is it really that difficult to differ right from wrong? There are various
reasons why so many seem to fall into the vicious cycle of psychosis. Some people
may not have control over the way of life that they were born into, others simply
don t want to recover from their illness, and there are those which it is too late for
because they ve fallen into a deep depression that they just can t escape. For many
years genetics, inadequate parenting skills, and financial instability have all been a
factor in the evolution of mental disorders. They have contributed to the lack of self
control that is required in order to fight off the urges to commit crimes. All around
the world, millions of people suffer from mental disorders. Mental illness impacts the
lives of at least one in four adults and one in 10 children across the United States
Botzakis, S. (2014). Whether it be from antisocial personality, schizophrenia, or
postpartum depression, they all seem to drive the individual to commit violent
crimes. On the other hand, some acts of violence may very well be

One area that the Mensheviks have been very successful is through the drafting
and passing of legislation within the Soviet. The Mensheviks are responsible for
the only bill that creates taxes to generate revenue and to hold the bourgeoisie in
check from taking control. Being the only group to implement taxes, the
Mensheviks showed that they are the most responsible group within the Soviet,
since instead of only worrying about spending, they also worried about how they
would pay for what they passed. Another impressive piece of legislation was the
bill in support of workers rights and in support of improving their working
conditions. By drafting and passing legislation in support of the workers, the
Mensheviks showed that they are in support of the lowest class of people within
Russia. One final bill supported fully by the Mensheviks created the United Soviet
Defense Force. By creating the United Soviet Defense Force, the Mensheviks have
set the Petrograd Soviet in place to be able to collect taxes and protect the interests of
the people. Now, the narod will receive the benefits of the spending bills passed by
the Soviet and they will have a defense force that works for the assembly put in
place to represent the common people. Compromise is also a huge pillar in the mind
of all Mensheviks and in the legislation, that is supported by all Mensheviks.
Ww2 American Women
The lives of American women were significantly changed both in good ways and
bad, during and after the era of World War II. Although World War II was, and still
is today, considered an unforgettable tragedy, there were many benefits to the war
because of the advantages it gave to women at the time. The war gave women the
benefits of new occupational opportunities, fashion changes, and changes of views
towards women. However, amidst all these benefits, their lives were affected in
some bad ways as well, such as the cause of family life hardships, constant labor,
and loss of occupations after the war. One factor of women s lives that changed as a
result of World War II was fashion. It all began with the invention of nylon in 1939.

Once World War II began, America was in desperate need of workers, so this gave
women a food chance to find high paying jobs. For example, about 350,000 women
were able to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. There was an
increase of job offers for women ranging from service pilots, military doctors,
politicians, factory workers, and participation in the Armed Forces (Yellin 112,
299). Between 1940 and 1945, the female percentage of the U.S. workforce
increased from 27 percent to nearly 37 percent, and by 1945 nearly one out of every
four married women worked outside the home ( History 1). If there is one person to
thank for the new job opportunities, it is none other than the famous Rosie the
Riveter. This well known fictional woman served not only to promote the changes of
fashion during the war, but was also used as a tool for recruiting women to work,
especially in the Armed Forces, and it was a success. In movies, newspapers,
posters, photographs, articles, and even a Norman Rockwell pained Saturday
Evening Post cover, the Rosie the Riveter campaign stressed the patriotic need for
women to enter the work force and they did, in huge numbers ( History 1). Women
began to get involved in organizations women in the earlier years were never
imagined to work as such as the Women s Army Corps (WAC) and Women s Air
force Service Pilots (WASP). More than 310,000 women worked in the U.S.
aircraft industry in 1943, representing 65 percent of the industry s total workforce
(compared to just 1 percent in the pre war years) ( History 1). World War II offered
women a chance to be more involved in the military and any high paying occupation
that was considered too manly before then, because of the wider range of job offers (

Nt1310 Unit 3 Paper
The writing process for the Unit 3 paper was both lengthy and challenging. By the

Unit 3 paper. I expected the Unit 3 paper to go smoothly, for I had a plethora of
sources at my disposal paired with my knowledge of the topic. However, this was not
the case, and so the writingprocess began. I personally found beginning my papervery
difficult. The conflict between Israel and Palestine is one that has spanned over
multiple decades, and though it seems that new reports come in every week, I found
it challenging to think of a good hook for my introduction. When checking my
sources, I remembered citing an article where President Trump made his comments
on the conflict. It was here that I had my Aha! moment. President Trump s remark
spurred further conversation from world leaders, which provided much information
regarding the topic. Additionally, I had found new sources that had polls on Israel
and Palestine s public opinions on the topic. Finally, I had found a source that
conveyed the violence going on. All three of these subtopics aided me in writing an
introduction that could hopefully gain the attention of the audience. Because the
conflict is a historic topic, the backstory essentially... Show more content on

How Does Shakespeare Use Cinematic Techniques In Romeo
And...
Romeo + Juliet is a modernised film of Romeo and Juliet, which was written by
William Shakespeare in the 1600 s. The director, Baz Luhrmann is the director the
film. He uses cinematic techniques to help make the old english that was used in
Shakespeare s times understandable and intriguing to a modern audience. Some of
the many techniques used are music, costumes, props, camera angles, lighting and
diegetic sound. The movie also has symbolism to convey the idea of Romeo and
Juliet s chaotic, star crossed love. The movie is set in a modern Verona Beach. Within
minutes, the opening prologue, from Shakespeare s play, hurls us into the intense
amount of rage between the two families this is what makes the beginning so
memorable for the audience.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story of a young girl falling in love at first sight and be willing to die for her
love is a difficult concept for a modern audience to relate to. To enforce this idea,
the director had to make sure of a few things. The first being to make sure the
audience could easily accept that Romeo is a naive guy, hoping for love to come
his way. And secondly, Juliet being so innocent she could fall in love with Romeo
so easily. These ideas are portrayed in believable characteristics when we first see
Romeo and Juliet in the film. When Romeo makes his debut in the movie, he is
seen depressed. He is seen smoking a cigarette whilst writing poetry and glaring
aimlessly up, at a grey cloudy day. Both the cigarette and weather can be viewed a
type of symbolism in the movie. The camera shots zoom on Romeo s face,
showing the audience his melancholic facials which informs them about how he is
feeling. The director uses these types of shots throughout the movie to show the
raw emotional back story of the characters. For example, when the priest is told
that Romeo wants to marry Juliet, the camera zooms into to show his face which
is in awe and disbelief; informing the audience about how the character, the priest,
is feeling. In this instance for Romeo, these shots capture the impress of a young
lad who is lost and upset. Soon after this, Juliet is introduced as being a young girl
with an innocent personality. Her parents speak of her still being a stranger to the
world by saying She is still very young. This phrase informs the audience that she is
young, naive and can easily fall for any handsome guy that comes her way. Through
the movie this is done in many different ways, such as dialogue, symbolism and in
other scenes is done through the emphasis of the close ups. The director emphasises

Importance of Recycling at the University Essay
Importance of Recycling at the University
I remember my first semester here at the University and the dark halls of the Bates
House Residence Hall. Many a party was concluded with an idea for what to do
with the endless piles of cans that had congregated on the floor. One idea, I
remember, was to wall someone into his room and another was to see how many we
could stand on end without toppling. But, we usually just ended up throwing them in
the trashcans in our refuse room. Sometimes out of the five trashcans in the room set
aside for trash disposal, three or four would be completely filled with hundreds of

places a recycling bin in every dorm room around the campus; anything more would

recycling center at the Russell House could cause the impulse to become a habit.
But, that would take too much money with the salaries of workers and the annexing
of what would amount to a new wing of the building to consider for too long.
Another solution could be to have the students elect a recycling committee to
evaluate the problem and decide on the appropriate solution. However, I feel that
with the current lull in our recycling campaign, even that would be ineffective. As an
altrenative to these two solutions I propose that we, as students and faculty united,
institute a plan that is so simple it is already in place in many of the high schools
around the state. I propose a system of rewards.
How many of us have walked past the Russell House only to hear the cry, Free T
shirt for your application? The interested people walk to the table where a fraternity
brother greets them
Imagery In The Raisin In The Sun
Imagery in The Raisin In The Sun displays uniquely to distinguishes each feeling or
reaction proceeding to the characters. The reader gets more of a better image of
situation, actions and feelings as illustrated Mama: Son do you know your wife is
expecting another baby? (Walter stands stunned and absorbs what his mother has
said.) That s what she wanted to talk to you about... (Act 1 Scene 2 Page:1568.) With
this image you can examine him feel so much emotionWalter at that time. The
imagery of him just sitting there blank as stone, the feelingof anguish, speechlessness
and surprised with the news that may seem as bad news giving him the image of
unhappiness. Furthermore, it exposes the possibility to be a restriction Walters
dream and the families dream as said according to Mama: Mama: I m waiting to
see you stand up and look like your daddy and says we done giving up nary another
one... I m waiting. This is a big interpretation towards the American Dreamthat they
needed money but it was a load of work to provide enough for Travis and the baby.
It consumes the part of Walter that he can t explain with money, it was his one and
only chance to use properly for himself. In Addition, Walter is not just being selfish
but he is just seeing the outcomes of his dream be put down. Then again there was
also a big huge family that was living in the house; in which was also needing to
provide Mama but she expected more from her son, to be wise enough to choose

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)
Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is defined as a mental disorder in which an
individual has a pervasive pattern of grandiosity . . . lack of empathy, [is] self
centered and require the admiration of others (Lyons, C., Martin, B., 2014, pg. 206).
Although Narcissism has it own symptoms, it has similarities with other disorders
such as disregard of others, instability in relationships, tend to be emotional and
attention seeking, and exaggerate self importance. Though the exact cause of this
personality disorderis unknown, there have been numerous speculations and theories.
What is known however, is that an individual that is of Narcissistic Personality
Disorderusually displays these characteristics by early adulthood and present... Show

While most people would clearly be aware of the fact that they have to wait in line
(as most individuals do) in order to pay for their items and be on their way, a
narcissists would disagree. This is because Narcissist as talked about the Abnormal
Psychology book, . . . do not care to wait in line or take their turn: they expect
special privileges because of their obvious superiority to others (Lyons, C., Martin,
B., 2014, pg. 206). They believe and view themselves as priority regardless of their
location or circumstance. In their minds limits, exclusions, the word no, or off
limits does not apply to them simply because of their apparent superiority to others.
Due to these beliefs, they . . . are condescending and haughtily in attitude and
behavior. (206) towards anyone who crosses their path. This too applies to their
relationships, whether family, social, or acquaintance. Narcissist view others as
means to their ends, because of their perspective they do not feel empathy and use
others for their own gains. Which is why often times, they will surround themselves
with individuals that will feed their ego due to that, they always want, look for, and
expect to receive compliments from others. However, if they do not receive the
attention or compliments expected, this will further encourage their Narcissistic
ways in order to protect the well being of their ego and avoid
Explain How Effective Practice Support Children s
Wellbeing
Effective practice can support children s well being and development when looking
at a child s health and physical development. Effective practice means About ensuring
that all children get optimum benefit from their experiences in the EYFS. This
apparently simple outcome can only be achieved when adults work together to get to
know the children s that they can support their play, development and learning.
(Early years matters,2017.) Children s well being means the quality of the child and
how their life is, and to ensure that they child is happy, comfortable and stable
throughout their everyday life. Children all develop at different stages, whether this
is through additional needs or family issues or they might have a gap in there learning.

First Battle Of Hoxington Research Paper
The First Battle of Lexington
How would you feel if you found yourself on a battlefield firing red hot cannon
shots at moving hay bales? This is exactly what soldiers did in the First Battle of
Lexington. This battle was not as tiresome as the battles of Bull Run or other battles
and under 200 casualties from both sides combined came out of this battle.
The First Battle of Lexington, which is located in Missouri, surprisingly also known
as the Battle of the Hemp Bales or the Siege of Lexington, was fought for eight
tedious days in 1861. From September 12 to September 20 the Union army and the
pro Confederate Missouri state guard in Lexington furiously clashed with muskets
canons, bayonets and hemp bales. The Missouri state guard was a militia of
approximately 25000 Confederate soldiers, although not all of these soldiers were
used in this battle. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the victory at the Battle of Boonville Nathaniel Lyon, who was the first Union
general to be killed in the Civil War, ordered the United States 5th regiment to
occupy Lexington. Upon arrival Charles G. Stifel instructed the men to start
destroying boats that could be used to cross the wide Missouri River. He also
commanded the soldiers to collect any resources they found. Surprisingly they
collected six cannons and 200 kegs of powder.
Confederate General Sterling Price began fighting at Lexington on September 12
when two federal companies commenced firing upon them in the middle of their
Cavalry advance. Price retreated to allow for his sluggish artillery to meet them in
order that they might aid advancement. Price s artillery forced the enemy to rush to
the safety of beyond the vast plains. The artillery advanced once again and met the
state guard in a two and a half hour duel. Price crushed the Union forces which forced
them to retreat. Price decided against chasing the enemy in order to wait for the

Jesus Resurrection
The New Testament is not the only sacred book that gives an account of the
resurrection. The Quran, Islam s holy scripture, tells of the arrest, crucifixion, and
resurrection, but if differs in no small way from the biblical account. In Surah 4:157
8 the Quran sates: And for saying, we killed (the Messiah) Jesus, son of Mary, the
messenger of God.
They never killed him, they never crucified him they were made to think that they
did. All factions are full of doubt concerning this issue. They possess no knowledge;
they only conjecture. For certain, they never killed. Instead, God raised Him to Him;
God is Almighty, most wise. (Authorized English Version).
The events surrounding Jesus resurrection can be difficult to piece together. We must

Second, the writers of the Gospels did not attempt an exhaustive narrative; in other
words, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John had no intention of telling us every detail of
the resurrection or every event in the order that it happened.
In the battle with skeptics regarding Jesus resurrection, Christians are in a no win
situation. If the resurrection accounts harmonize perfectly, skeptics will claim that
the writers of the Gospels conspired together.
If the resurrection accounts have some differences, skeptics will claim that the
Gospels contradict each other and therefore cannot be trusted. It is our contention that
the resurrection accounts can be harmonized and do not contradict each other.
Islam teaches that Jesus never died but was assumed into heaven. There are a couple
of variations explaining the mechanics of this. One version has the soul of Jesus
departing from the body before the torture and execution.
According to the footnote in the Authorized English Version of the Quran quoted
above, his enemies tortured and crucified his living, but empty body. 48 thus, Jesus
was assumed into heaven, but His soul less body was left on earth to be
Why Did The Titanic Blame
Why did the Titanic sink? Who s to blame for this imprint on the timeline of
humanity? How could the guilty let this happen? All of these questions could be
answered with one man, Captain Edward J. Smith. As Ballard s Exploring the
Titanic says, (Captain Smith) was a natural leader and was popular with both crew
and passengers... thirty eight years service with the White Star Line... had an
excellent safety record. This seems like the guy you would want to captain a great
ship like the Titanic, and at first he was. But, as the ship s voyage progressed he
started to forget his duties and take this trip as some getaway time for himself to
enjoy. This idea of his endorsed his mind until he only visited the bridge every couple
hours. When the iceberg... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example that he thought this is when he send a few lookouts to leisurely
watch out for icebergs ahead of them. Also, he goes back to bed once he sends out
this command thinking that even if they do hit an iceberg it would be impossible
to sink such a massive vehicle. If the Captain would ve not been in his nightgown
and was actually at the helm of the ship like most captains do, maybe the Titanic
could have made a sharp turn from the glacier. But Captain Smith was cozy in bed
with his Scrooge pajamas on leaving his young crew to defend against the night.
The second instance that proves Captain Edward Smith thought the Titanic was
unsinkable happened before the excursion out to sea. The Captain knew the size of
the boat and how many people were traveling that Spring day and yet he still set sail
knowing full well that not enough people would be able to fit on the emergency
vessels if there was an accident. But the Captain thought that nothing would go
wrong with the year of experience under his belt. Little did he know that he was very
wrong and maybe if he would ve said something to the builders of the ship about there
not being enough lifeboats for the guests they might have changed it in time. Even
though the voyage would ve been delayed, he could ve saved thousands, but instead
he thought the ship was unsinkable and he
The Decline Of Biodiversity In Australia
Biodiversity is the variety of plant and animal life in the world and as such is an
important aspect of all human life. Nature provides food, and ways of preventing
diseases. Overall, it makes Earth a livable place for all life. It s been estimated that
there are around thirty million species on earth but only around 1.7 million are
identified. The issue with biodiversityis that it is rapidly declining in many parts of
the world and once the biodiversity in an area is wiped out, it is basically impossible
to revive. There are a couple of reasons as to why there is a steady decline in
biodiversity. Some of the ways include habitat loss, spread of diseases or invasive
species, and climate change. One way the rate at which biodiversity decreases... Show

Australia is considered a mega diversity nation, meaning that Australia has a very
large portion of the Earth s biodiversity compared to other nations. Even though it
holds a large portion of the biodiversity, it also has had the largest decline in
biodiversity compared to any other country. The Australian Government recognizes
the issues presented by biodiversity loss in their country and has acts in place in order
to make improvements. Acts such as implementing the Australian Biodiversity
Conservation Strategy 2010 2030, which had been reviewed in 2015. Their strategy
includes enlisting the help of the majority of their people by mainstreaming the issue,
reducing the threats to biodiversity and implementing intense monitoring. This is one
country where the government understands the importance of biodiversity and are
taking action against the decline but although the australian government has
programs in place, they don t seem to be making very much progress. According to
an article focused entirely on Australia s progress in biodiversity conservation,
Australia has barely made any progress in actually reducing the growing loss of
biodiversity there. The country itself has a greater amount of biodiversity compared
to other countries and doesn t have the pressures of population but has made very
little progress in conserving it. There s at least 46 other countries that have better and

Interactive Media Plan For Public Schools
Interactive Media Plan Social media is the magnifying glass exposing organizations
deepest and darkest secrets, failed crisis communication plans, and upset customers. If
businesses do not hold the magnifying glass in the just the right place, they will have

When stakeholders write reviews on St. Louis Park Public Schools Facebook page,
it will be necessary to carefully analyze, monitor, and respond appropriately by
treating each individual as if one were responding to one s own family member. It
will be essential for the district to check all of its social media accounts each day to
monitor for positive comments, key words, and questions (Anonymous, 2011). A
question should never go unanswered across any of the social media accounts. All
families, students, and community members should trust the social networking sites
to be constantly updated with the latest news. The district will strengthen its
relationships by asking users what content they want the site to be populated with. If
the district successfully listens to chatter, audiences will have a permanent seed
planted in their minds determining the website and social media accounts as trusted,
credible, and reliable places. Blogging is a communication tool enabling
organizations to write, respond, and listen to audiences. The superintendent of St.
Louis Park Public Schools should consider starting a blog to be authentic in goals to
openly listen to audiences questions, concerns, and ideas. Blogs ensure messages can
be communicated by the district while also sparking a conversation. It would be

Bine Drinking Vs Binge Drinking
America perfectly represents the ideals of the Enlightenment: the land of the free
and the home of the brave; a nation in which citizens can choose who they want to
be and what they want to do. Throughout the Revolutionary War, the colonists
relied on each other for support and no one could afford the luxury of a peaceful,
secluded life. That emphasis on sociability became a part of the American identity.
Lung cancer has declined steadily over the last thirty years (Cancer Statistics
Report), but liver cancer incidents have tripled over that time period as Americans
are binge drinking now more than ever (Key Statistics About Liver Cancer). While,
at times, smoking can be social and drinking can be anti social, America s
emphasis on gregariousness causes society to hypocritically scorn smoking but
tolerate binge drinking because smoking is an anti social activity whereas binge
drinking is a social activity. Advertisement posters against smoking and binge
drinking differ because of the USA s cultural values, particularly due to the
solidarity of smoking versus the camaraderie of drinking. Although binge drinking
is typically considered four drinks for women and five drinks for men in a two
hour span, this fails to account for someone s height, weight, and food consumed,
and therefore many people have no idea if they are binge drinking or not, causing
some to black out (Drinking Levels Defined). A photo of a passed out teenage girl

How Is The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber
Set on an African Safari in the early 1900s, Ernest Hemingway s The Short Happy
Life of Francis Macomber tells the story of a young man and wife, Francis and
Margot Macomber, and their English guide, Robert Wilson, on a hunting trip gone
awry. This essay will show how Hemingway s character tied into the story itself.
Francis Macomber is described as very tall, very well built... and considered
handsome (Hemingway). He and his wife, Margot, clearly do not have a very
healthy relationship, and on various occasions she flirts heavily with Wilson. This
story is quite ironic, as in the title it says Francis Macomber s life was happy,
though throughout the story you can see that it very much isn t. He seems to be
miserable in his relationship with his wife but as later on stated, Margot was too
beautiful for Macomber to divorce, and Macomber had too much money for Margot
to ever leave him (Hemingway). On the topic of irony, it can also be seen as ironic

Macomber felt utter disgust for Wilson. Every time Wilson spoke, Macomber
threw back daggers for words. It annoyed Wilson, for he was unphased by the fact
that Macomber knew Wilson had been with his wife. He ignored Macomber s
harsh words so they could go hunting for the buffalo. As they drove out, Macomber
spotted three large buffalo. Wilson told him, We ll cut them off before they get to
the swamp. They both got their guns ready, where Macomber almost began to shoot
from his position in the car before being shouted at by Wilson. They jumped out of
the vehicle as it came to a bolting stop, aimed, and began shooting. Macomber struck
the first one down, and with the help of Wilson, eventually the other two. Margot was
awe struck, telling Macomber how marvelous he had done. Macomber felt a wild
unreasonable happiness that he had never known before (Hemingway). Meaning,
Macomber felt as though he had restored his

I am pleased with my graphical outcome for the menu designed for Parmigiano s

Longboards poster. The menu captured the brief through the use of bright colours,
layout, effective pictures and a simple but interesting logo. The brief stated that Papa
Parmigiano wanted to be included in the logo, so I made him the hero. I placed him
holding a pizza with the background of Italian colours to represent his heritage and
link to the restaurant theme. I could of improved my logo by making my own type

The Human Resource Management Department Of The
Company
When it comes to developing a job analysis and job description of a company the
human resource management department of the company has an impactful position
to assess and develop the organization human capital needs. To have an effective job
description, the human resource management of a company should conduct and
effective job analysis, which is the systematic process of collecting information that
identifies similarities and differences in the work (Book). A manufacturing plant that
employs 5oo employs would need a Human Resource Managementdepart to
effectively begin the process of determining the internal structure with job analysis
and job description. There are many different departments, components, and functions
of manufacturing plant of 5oo employees, a combination method of conventional job
analysis and position analysis questionnaire, would gather the proper information to
develop an effective and complete job analysis. Conventional job analysis uses
company preexisting information, job holder and supervisor information to create
and verify the manufacturing company job description. Position Analysis
Questionnaire would serve as a great resource to gain actual knowledge of daily task
and skills need to perform task for the company, this is because the questionnaire
groups work information into seven basic categories: information input, mental
processes, work output, relationships with other persons, job context, other job
characteristics, and general
Consequences Of Unprotected Sex In Adolescence
In the adolescent stage, teens begin to develop sexual relations with significant
others. It is a big decision that comes with precautions and responsibility. Unprotected
sex can have many consequences such as sexually transmitted diseases and
pregnancy. Unprotected sex is having sexual intercourse without contraceptives such
as condoms and birth controls.
Each year, approximately 750,000 teen girls get pregnant with approximately 400,000
births from teens. Pregnancy is caused by unprotected sex. When getting pregnant at
a young age, there is a lot of responsibility that comes with it. The mother must take

That s why it is important to know your partner before having sexual intercourse
along with wearing a condom during intercourse. A condom is a thin, stretchy pouch
like material that the male puts on his penis before/during sexual intercourse. This
prevents sperm from getting into the vagina and meeting the egg to produce
pregnancy. They also protect against STD s. Condoms protect you and your partner
from having direct skin to skin contact in your genital areas. Direct skin to skin
contact along with bodily fluids can carry infections that may need medical attention.
Condoms aren t the only thing that helps prevent pregnancy, birth control does too.
Birth control has been around for years however it does not protect you from STD
s that why it s important to also use a condom as protection. Birth control is a
series of hormones that prevent pregnancy from occurring. Although it is not 100%
affective, it usually works well. There are many kinds of birth controls available
such as, the patch, the pill, the ring, depo shot, IUD and many others. In conclusion,
it is very important to practice safe sex. You don t want to be the teen that gets
pregnant in high school and drops out or that teen that encountered a sexually
transmitted disease. It takes two seconds to put a condom on or take your birth
control pill but forever to raise a child. Think before you act to provide a better

Effects Of Advertisements On Women
Advertisements are audio or visual forms of marketing communication used in
various methods in the media. An average person encounters 3,000 advertisements
every day, which is a total of two years watching TV commercials in their lifetime.
Advertisements are used to promote an item or product; However, advertisements
have a grand impact on women. Companies use models to set trends and false beauty
standards using their latest products. Commercials decrease a womans self image and
cause emotional harm.
Newer technology helps conceal imperfections. Applications such as, Photoshop,
are used by advertisers to enhance a model s image before the picture is published.
The viewer s desire to look the same way increases, which can cause a lower self
esteem and a negative perception of their body. The company questioned over 1,000
women who largely said the beauty industry advertising campaigns are having a
negative impact on their lives. A woman s fear and stress is caused by beauty
advertisements. Advertisements demand women to focus on their appearances. Jean
Kilbourne described how Beyonce was touched up by Photoshop to lighten her skin
color. Photoshop has made society believe that it is normal to be flawless and to
have perfect proportions, and that s not true. Many women are affected by the use of
Photoshop because they feel insecure about their skin and body image. The overuse of
Photoshop is used uncontrollably by advertisers and has lead to unproportional body
parts on
Description Of Person Centered Theory
Lien Hua a sixteen year old first generation Chinese American. Hua came to the
school social work counselor complaining of feeling stressed. Hua explained that
she is interested in pursuing social work when she goes away to college, however,
her parents would like her to either practice medicine or law. She reported that just
thinking of talking to her parents regarding her career choice is causing her
immense stress. As a result of the stress she reports that her grades have dropped and
she is socializing less. Hua has requested that the school social workertell her what to
say to her parents to help them understand her choice.
Overview of Person Centered Theoretical Approach
Person Centered Theory (PCT) was cultivated by Carl Rogers from the 1940 s
through the 1950 s (Walsh, 2013). He first developed person centered therapy,
infusing Functional and Humanistic views, consequently, person centered theory
followed. Rogers authored four books expounding on the therapy (Walsh, 2013).
Person Centered Theory is a nondirective humanistic client centered approach, which
regards the client and the social worker as contemporaries (Joseph Murphy, 2013).
The client is the authority on their life and the social worker is there to offer
unconditional positive regard, which fosters growth in sections that are important to
the client (Joseph Murphy, 2013) . The primary theoretical underpinning embraced by
the theory is embodied in actualizing tendency, which Rogers viewed as

  • 1. Cognitive Psychology Essay Crafting an essay on cognitive psychology poses a unique set of challenges, demanding a delicate balance between theoretical depth and practical application. The field itself is vast, encompassing a myriad of intricate concepts, theories, and research findings that necessitate a comprehensive understanding. Delving into the complexities of cognitive processes, memory, perception, problem-solving, and decision-making requires a meticulous approach to grasp the nuances involved. One of the primary difficulties lies in synthesizing information from various sources and integrating divergent viewpoints. The interdisciplinary nature of cognitive psychology, drawing from neuroscience, philosophy, and computer science, adds an additional layer of complexity. Ensuring that the essay is not just a regurgitation of facts but a critical analysis that demonstrates a nuanced understanding can be quite challenging. • 2. Holden Caulfield Banned Should The Catcher in the Rye be banned from being taught at high schools? J.D. Salinger wrote this novel about a 16 year old named Holden Caulfield. Holden is your not so average teenager. He is more of a woe is me kind of teenager. Holden has two siblings and one dead sibling He goes to expensive private schools, but flunks out of them because he doesn t apply himself. The main part in this book is when Holden takes a three day vacation in New York City to get away from Pencey Prep and to let his parents cool off after they get their letter about Holden flunking out of Pencey. The vacation is only three days long, but seems to be a lot longer than three days. There are a lot of places in this book that are extremely controversial. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Holden gets drunk multiple times in the book and he smokes quit a bit. Keep in mind, Holden is 16 years old and the drinking age limit is 18 back in this time. He gets away with drinking illegally. His smoking is legal, but is not a good influence on sophomores in high school. This book makes it seem like it is okay to do illegal things and to smoke. Smoking is unhealthy and no one should do it. Drinking illegally isn t okay and could lead to bad things. This is also making it seem like it s easy to get away with undeage drinking. The last controversial thing is Holden is constantly lying and using bad language. He says the f word, goddam, hell, etc. so many times. He lies about who he is, his name, where he s from, etc. He is making it okay to lie and cuss. Even if everyone does it, he does it so much it s not very good influencing on high school students. He talks like a sailor which could lead people that look up to Holden, to start to cuss as well, just because Holden does. More than likely, people are going to listen to and copy their idol. Say Holden is their idol, they will more than likely start copying what he
  • 3. The Potato Virus Essay Introduction Potato virus X (PVX) is a plant RNA virus. Its infection cycle includes invasion of the host plant, RNA replication, translation of viral proteins, cell to cell movement and release of new virions. Upon infection, PVX releases its plus strand RNA genome from the virion and produces a viral replicase using host translation machinery. The replicase synthesizes minus strand RNA. Subsequently new plus strand genomic RNA (gRNA) and subgenomic RNAs (sgRNAs) are produced. Movement and coat proteins are translated from the sgRNAs for encapsidation and movement through plasmodesmata. In this mini review, all aspects of the virus infection cycle of PVX are discussed. Classification Potato virus X (PVX) is a small non enveloped virus, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 5 terminus has a methylguanosine cap and the 3 terminus consists of a poly(A) tail [7]. The genome contains five open reading frames (ORFs), see figure 1A. The 5 proximal ORF (ORF1) can be translated directly from the gRNA by host translation machinery. ORF1 encodes a 165kDa replicase, which consists of three domains. These include a methyltransferase , helicase and RNA dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) domain. Interestingly the three domains remain as one protein, whereas it is often cleaved into separate subunits in other plant viruses. The other ORFs are translated from subgenomic RNAs (sgRNAs), see figure 1B. ORF2 4 overlap and are therefore called the triple gene block (TGB). The encoded proteins are TGB1, TGB2 and TGB3 respectively. TGB1 is a 25kDa protein with a RNA helicase motif similar to the one found in the viral replicase. TGB2/3 contain sequences for transmembrane domains and are ER associated. TGB1 is expressed from its own 2.1kb sgRNA (sgRNA1) whereas TGB2/3 are both expressed from the same 1.4kb sgRNA (sgRNA2). This co translation occurs through leaky scanning. All three TGB proteins are associated with cell to cell movement through plasmodesmata (PD) [8]. ORF5 is expressed from a separate sgRNA of 0.9kb (sgRNA3) and encodes the coat protein (CP). CP is required both for encapsidation and cell to cell movement. Figure 1 Schematic visualization of the
  • 4. The Manchurian Candidate by Johnathan Demme Essay The Manchurian Candidate, Johnathan Demme directed the remake. Both films portray paranoia, mind control, and conspiracy. Frankenheimer utilizes satire, humor, and symbolism to convey the themes, whereas, Demme uses modern fears, camera angles and focus, and mental illness to achieve similar results. Many of the elements of the 2004 remake have been modernized. While the original movie placed the soldiers in Korea, the remake placed them in Kuwait. Demme did changed the location of the war, in order to appeal to current fears and suspicions. In 1962, the threat of communism was at the forefront of everyone s thoughts. However, during 2004, only three years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, citizens were no longer concerned about... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film switches between perspectives of the ladies garden party and the communist officials to stress the comic surrealism of the situation. The calm and genteel ladies garden party is a stark contrast to the evil plotting of the communists. Image overlay as well as soft lighting are also used to convey the surrealism and dreamlike quality. The absurd way that Eleanor s husband, Senator Iselin, presents the supposed number (which he is constantly changing) of communists in the state department, satirizes the Red Scare and McCarthyism. Many of the accused communists during the red scare were merely from wild speculation caused by irrational fear and political movements to get rid of the opposition. It was also ironic that Eleanor, who had her husband present the fake number of communists, was actually the communist herself. The role of a mother is also satirized in the film. The 1950 s portrayed mothers as pure and wholesome, however Eleanor is portrayed as the evil and conniving perpetrator of peril. The remake focused on keeping the audience and Major Marco in a constant state of paranoia and uncertainty. In the original movie, the audience is shown, as well as told by the narrator, that the platoon was captured and brainwashed by communists. Whereas, in the remake, Major Marco and the

  • 9. Saltwater Crocodile Research Paper The Saltwater Crocodile The saltwater crocodile is one of the largest non mammalian creatures. It also lives to about 70 years and weighs about 1200 pounds for a male, and 200 pounds for a female. The length of a male varies between 14 17 ft. While the females length is between 7.5 11 ft. All of these numbers are of averages of adult saltwater crocodiles. Now I will compare four systems of a crocodile to a human. In the circulatory system, the crocodile has a four chambered heart, as well as a double looped circulatory system. They breathe using their lungs in and under water. The saltwater crocodile can be submerged for quite a while. Up to 8 hours as the longest recording ever known. They use conservation of the oxygen and can survive in some sub temperature ponds. This occurs when the crocodile heads too far north. As for humans, we can obviously breathe using our lungs as well. Though we can not submerge and conserve oxygen as a crocodile can. It is the same concept anyway, just made for their own habitat.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It all starts at the super strong jaw of the saltwater crocodile. It can just brutally snap bones of a once living animal, like nothing. Then, it heads south, where the crocodile uses the esophagus and heads past the trachea. It continues on its path to the stomach, where it has incredibly strong digestive acids. It needs this due to the way it devours animals. It goes to the intestines that sort out what is needed and what is not needed. Finally, to remove and dispose the waste, it leaves through the cloaca. All of the main digestive parts are the same to humans, except for the cloaca, or human anus. It is pretty similar, but the crocodile has more of a incomplete disposal. We have a full one, depending on what we eat. The crocodile just has a quick, rapid disposal, not much to work on, just what needs to be

The Pianist s Depictions of Historical Events The Pianist s Depictions of Historical Events The Warsaw ghetto uprising fighters was formed when Jews in Poland learned that the Germans main plan was to eradicate the Jews completely. Before the Jews learned about the plan of Nazis, they did not carried out acts resistance against their enemies. The driving force that started this resistance was that if Nazi plan was to destroy the ghetto, resisting these perpetrators was not an option to the Jews but a survival mechanism. Einwohner states that the coalitions of Jewish activists in the Warsaw Ghetto used a small arsenal of smuggled weapons and homemade explosives to resist the Nazis attempts to deport them to the death camp Treblinka. The evidences demonstrated in Polanski s film contradict this statement; that is, the Warsaw ghetto fighters came into existence because they wanted to defeat Nazi German. With the little weapons that the ghetto fighters had, the supposition depicted in the film that they wanted to fight off the Germans in order to defeat them can easily to refuted. Early Childhood Education Reflection Paper As I reflect on the past eight weeks, my insights on Early Childhood Education have given me a better understanding of issues and trends in Early Childhood Education. As I mastered this course, I have also become more knowledgeable and understanding of the needs of children and families in my community. Another way that I have been strengthened was through discussions and sharing blogs with my colleagues. On the other hand, researching professional early childhood educationtopics and viewing multimedia presentations were beneficial to my professional growth as well. I felt that the multimedia were definitely the meat of this course. Therefore, I am knowledgeable with information than before. As an early childhood educator, and regarding changing demographics and diversity findings, I am significantly impacted on my professional over my initial reaction. However, I have learned that diversity is challenging, as the invasion of immigrants and refugees into the U.S. from different parts of the world is changing the country s demographics. According to Boutte, G. S. (2008), in a rapidly changing world, some groups have greater societal benefits than others. Therefore, educators should show love as they face the challenge of preparing students from diverse populations by considering their background because of race, ethnicity, gender, class, language, religion, ability or age (p. 166). For this reason, early childhood educators should welcome culturally diverse environments
  • 13. Debate on Gun Control The Debate on Gun Control The debate concerning gun control has recently become as popular as ever. People question if guns are really necessary. Some wonder that if the government regulates who has the right to own a gun crime rates and death could decrease in the Unites States. Others believe that guns aren t to blame for deaths; guns don t kill people, people kill people . How can we conclude which side is right if they both strongly believe in their argument? There are always two sides to an argument; the only way to know which is right is to look at the facts. Gun Control means that the government will regulate the sale and ownership of firearms. Therefore, before getting a permit to carry a gun you will get a detailed background check to make sure you are not an ex felon or anything that could be a threat. This sounds great to many people, but there is one snag in the plan; criminals will not get their guns registered. If the government begins to regulate ownership of guns, it will not stop criminals from owning one. Since 1950, every public mass shooting (with the exception of one) in the U.S. has occurred in a place where guns are prohibited to carry. Some people just believe this is a coincidence, or that it is just ironic. This is not the case. People who are in charge of the mass shootings want to feel as though they have control of the situation, and if they are the only one carrying a gun they will have the upper hand in the situation. There is a reason

Vaccination Is The Most Important Factor Taylor Gowen Professor Cynthia Walton College Comp I 04 November 2014 Vaccines Immunization is defined as the process of giving immunity to prevent infectious diseases by artificial methods (The Hutchinson Unabridged Encyclopedia). Statistics show that vaccines prevent more than 2.5 million child deaths per year (Davey, et al 5). These deaths typically occur in children under the age of 5. Immunizations are arguably one of the most important benefits of modern medicine offered in our country. Vaccines are given to prevent a serious disease or illness. They are generally only given to healthy people to help boost immunity (Sanford, S52). Without vaccines diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), polio (IPV or OPV), diphtheria tetanus and acellular pertussis (DTaP), Haemophilus Influenzae type b (HIB) and Hepatitis (HEP A, B, C) would still be prevalent (Sanford, S61). Within the 21st century, there have been many positive changes occurring throughout our world. Vaccinationis the most important factor in reduction of deaths or serious diseases in children under the age of 5 (Kennedy, 1). Controversy remains if whether the risk of side effects from the vaccines, outweigh the risk of contracting the disease. Vaccinations have proven to be an effective method of preventing serious diseases, which are the cause of many childhood illnesses that often result in fatality (Kennedy, 1). Understanding the importance of vaccines is crucial. Vaccines are not only

One area that the Mensheviks have been very successful is through the drafting and passing of legislation within the Soviet. The Mensheviks are responsible for the only bill that creates taxes to generate revenue and to hold the bourgeoisie in check from taking control. Being the only group to implement taxes, the Mensheviks showed that they are the most responsible group within the Soviet, since instead of only worrying about spending, they also worried about how they would pay for what they passed. Another impressive piece of legislation was the bill in support of workers rights and in support of improving their working conditions. By drafting and passing legislation in support of the workers, the Mensheviks showed that they are in support of the lowest class of people within Russia. One final bill supported fully by the Mensheviks created the United Soviet Defense Force. By creating the United Soviet Defense Force, the Mensheviks have set the Petrograd Soviet in place to be able to collect taxes and protect the interests of the people. Now, the narod will receive the benefits of the spending bills passed by the Soviet and they will have a defense force that works for the assembly put in place to represent the common people. Compromise is also a huge pillar in the mind of all Mensheviks and in the legislation, that is supported by all Mensheviks.

Although World War II was, and still is today, considered an unforgettable tragedy, there were many benefits to the war because of the advantages it gave to women at the time. The war gave women the benefits of new occupational opportunities, fashion changes, and changes of views towards women. However, amidst all these benefits, their lives were affected in some bad ways as well, such as the cause of family life hardships, constant labor, and loss of occupations after the war. Once World War II began, America was in desperate need of workers, so this gave women a food chance to find high paying jobs. For example, about 350,000 women were able to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. There was an increase of job offers for women ranging from service pilots, military doctors, politicians, factory workers, and participation in the Armed Forces (Yellin 112, 299). Between 1940 and 1945, the female percentage of the U.S. workforce increased from 27 percent to nearly 37 percent, and by 1945 nearly one out of every four married women worked outside the home ( History 1). If there is one person to thank for the new job opportunities, it is none other than the famous Rosie the Riveter. This well known fictional woman served not only to promote the changes of fashion during the war, but was also used as a tool for recruiting women to work, especially in the Armed Forces, and it was a success. In movies, newspapers, posters, photographs, articles, and even a Norman Rockwell pained Saturday Evening Post cover, the Rosie the Riveter campaign stressed the patriotic need for women to enter the work force and they did, in huge numbers ( History 1). Women began to get involved in organizations women in the earlier years were never imagined to work as such as the Women s Army Corps (WAC) and Women s Air force Service Pilots (WASP). More than 310,000 women worked in the U.S. aircraft industry in 1943, representing 65 percent of the industry s total workforce (compared to just 1 percent in the pre war years) ( History 1). World War II offered women a chance to be more involved in the military and any high paying occupation that was considered too manly before then, because of the wider range of job offers ( History

By the end of Unit 2, I had gathered over twenty different sources to aid me in writing my Unit 3 paper. I expected the Unit 3 paper to go smoothly, for I had a plethora of sources at my disposal paired with my knowledge of the topic. However, this was not the case, and so the writingprocess began. I personally found beginning my papervery difficult. The conflict between Israel and Palestine is one that has spanned over multiple decades, and though it seems that new reports come in every week, I found it challenging to think of a good hook for my introduction. When checking my sources, I remembered citing an article where President Trump made his comments on the conflict. It was here that I had my Aha! moment. President Trump s remark spurred further conversation from world leaders, which provided much information regarding the topic. Additionally, I had found new sources that had polls on Israel and Palestine s public opinions on the topic. Finally, I had found a source that conveyed the violence going on. The director, Baz Luhrmann is the director the film. He uses cinematic techniques to help make the old english that was used in Shakespeare s times understandable and intriguing to a modern audience. Some of the many techniques used are music, costumes, props, camera angles, lighting and diegetic sound. The movie also has symbolism to convey the idea of Romeo and Juliet s chaotic, star crossed love. The movie is set in a modern Verona Beach. Within minutes, the opening prologue, from Shakespeare s play, hurls us into the intense amount of rage between the two families this is what makes the beginning so memorable for the audience.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story of a young girl falling in love at first sight and be willing to die for her love is a difficult concept for a modern audience to relate to. To enforce this idea, the director had to make sure of a few things. The first being to make sure the audience could easily accept that Romeo is a naive guy, hoping for love to come his way. And secondly, Juliet being so innocent she could fall in love with Romeo so easily. These ideas are portrayed in believable characteristics when we first see Romeo and Juliet in the film. When Romeo makes his debut in the movie, he is seen depressed. He is seen smoking a cigarette whilst writing poetry and glaring aimlessly up, at a grey cloudy day. Both the cigarette and weather can be viewed a type of symbolism in the movie. The camera shots zoom on Romeo s face, showing the audience his melancholic facials which informs them about how he is feeling. The director uses these types of shots throughout the movie to show the raw emotional back story of the characters. For example, when the priest is told that Romeo wants to marry Juliet, the camera zooms into to show his face which is in awe and disbelief; informing the audience about how the character, the priest, is feeling. In this instance for Romeo, these shots capture the impress of a young lad who is lost and upset. Soon after this, Juliet is introduced as being a young girl with an innocent personality. Her parents speak of her still being a stranger to the world by saying She is still very young. This phrase informs the audience that she is young, naive and can easily fall for any handsome guy that comes her way. Through the movie this is done in many different ways, such as dialogue, symbolism and in other scenes is done through the emphasis of the close ups. The director emphasises Juliet s

Importance of Recycling at the University Essay Importance of Recycling at the University I remember my first semester here at the University and the dark halls of the Bates House Residence Hall. Many a party was concluded with an idea for what to do with the endless piles of cans that had congregated on the floor. One idea, I remember, was to wall someone into his room and another was to see how many we could stand on end without toppling. But, we usually just ended up throwing them in the trashcans in our refuse room. The truth is, however, that with the amount of money the University spends on other endeavors, it cannot afford not to update its recycling campaign. The only way to do that is to help make recycling appeal to more of the vast student population that currently attends our University. How might this be done? The University already places a recycling bin in every dorm room around the campus; anything more would exceed the current funding for the recycling project. Perhaps the institution of a recycling center at the Russell House could cause the impulse to become a habit. But, that would take too much money with the salaries of workers and the annexing of what would amount to a new wing of the building to consider for too long. Another solution could be to have the students elect a recycling committee to evaluate the problem and decide on the appropriate solution. However, I feel that with the current lull in our recycling campaign, even that would be ineffective. As an altrenative to these two solutions I propose that we, as students and faculty united, institute a plan that is so simple it is already in place in many of the high schools around the state. I propose a system of rewards. How many of us have walked past the Russell House only to hear the cry, Free T shirt for your application? The interested people walk to the table where a fraternity brother greets them

Bine Drinking Vs Binge Drinking America perfectly represents the ideals of the Enlightenment: the land of the free and the home of the brave; a nation in which citizens can choose who they want to be and what they want to do. Throughout the Revolutionary War, the colonists relied on each other for support and no one could afford the luxury of a peaceful, secluded life. That emphasis on sociability became a part of the American identity. Lung cancer has declined steadily over the last thirty years (Cancer Statistics Report), but liver cancer incidents have tripled over that time period as Americans are binge drinking now more than ever (Key Statistics About Liver Cancer). While, at times, smoking can be social and drinking can be anti social, America s emphasis on gregariousness causes society to hypocritically scorn smoking but tolerate binge drinking because smoking is an anti social activity whereas binge drinking is a social activity. Advertisement posters against smoking and binge drinking differ because of the USA s cultural values, particularly due to the solidarity of smoking versus the camaraderie of drinking. Although binge drinking is typically considered four drinks for women and five drinks for men in a two hour span, this fails to account for someone s height, weight, and food consumed, and therefore many people have no idea if they are binge drinking or not, causing some to black out (Drinking Levels Defined).
