Simple Essay For Kids
Writing an essay on the topic "Simple Essay For Kids" may seem deceptively easy at first glance,
given the seemingly straightforward subject matter. However, the challenge lies in striking the
right balance between simplicity and engaging content that resonates with a younger audience.
Crafting an essay for kids requires a careful consideration of language, tone, and content. The
language used should be simple and easily understandable by children, without compromising on
the clarity of ideas. It involves translating complex thoughts into a language that is both age-
appropriate and captivating.
Maintaining a child-friendly tone throughout the essay is crucial. The challenge is to make the
content not only educational but also interesting and relatable for young readers. This means
incorporating elements such as vivid imagery, relatable examples, and perhaps even a touch of
humor to keep their attention.
Additionally, organizing the essay in a way that is easy for kids to follow is another aspect that
adds to the difficulty. The structure needs to be clear, with a logical flow of ideas that children
can comprehend. This involves simplifying complex concepts and breaking down information
into digestible chunks.
Despite these challenges, writing a "Simple Essay For Kids" can be a rewarding endeavor. It
provides an opportunity to connect with young minds, spark their curiosity, and foster a love for
learning. It requires a creative approach to make education enjoyable, and this challenge is what
makes the process both demanding and fulfilling.
In conclusion, crafting an essay for kids involves navigating the delicate balance between
simplicity and engagement. It demands a thoughtful selection of language, tone, and content to
create a piece that is both educational and enjoyable for young readers.

Slasher Informative Speech
The Slasher Film: The Modern Day Fairy Tale
General Purpose: To inform the audience about the psychological appeal of the
slasher film, a brief history of the genre, and the links to urban legends and fairy tales.
Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about direct link to morality tales and the
slasher film genre.
Thesis Statement: Slasher films are modern day morality tales, rooted deeply in
urban legends and fairy tales, as clearly depicted in John Carpenter s Halloween,
where characters are punished with violence for their risky behavior.
I.Introduction
A.When asked to describe the two types of horror films, director Guillermo del
Toro stated: Much like fairy tales, there are two facets of horror. One is pro
institution, which is the most reprehensible type of fairy tale: Don t wander into the
woods, and always obey your parents. The other type of fairy tale is completely
anarchic and antiestablishment Guillermo del Toro. (Attention Getter) In my
presentation I will focus on the aspect of the slasher film genre as modern day fairy
tales, with an underlying message of morality.
B.John Carpenter s 1978 film Halloween epitomizes the slasher films, encompassing
the most common themes of this genre, including teenagers making the transition
into adulthood by engaging in reckless behavior, a maniac using violence as a
teaching tool for the audience, a final survivor girl, and an immortal maniac. (Thesis)
C.In my presentation I will briefly describe the history
What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Soybean
Soybean is an important crop, with food, nutritional, industrial, and pharmaceutical
uses. Soybean seeds contain about 40% protein and about 20% oil. They are also
abundant in physiologically active metabolites such as isoflavones, lecithins,
tocopherols and saponins, in addition to functional proteins and are used as an
affordable source of foods that promote and maintain health (Sugano 2005).
The genomic era is now under way for soybean, as for other many crops. Recently, a
soybean genomics database has been developed from the whole genome sequence
(Schmutz et al. 2010), and a large number of genomic, transcriptional, and functional
annotated sequences can be retrieved from Phytozome In addition to efforts to
sequence the whole genome, several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ADVANTAGES OF SOYBEAS TRANSFORMATION
пѓ Insect and nematode resistance
Insecticidal crystal proteins (cry proteins or Оґ endotoxins) are an active component
of Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt) toxin, a biological insecticide (Tabashnik 1994).
Expression of the Bt cry gene in soybean has proven highly effective for controlling
insect pests , and the resistance to lepidopteran pests in a transgenic line expressing
Bt cry1A was confirmed under field conditions
пѓ Disease resistance
Soybean mosaic virus (SMV) is endemic in virtually all regions where soybeans are
grown in the presence of vector insects. SMV can cause serious yield losses (Ross
1969), so virus resistance is an essential trait for introduction
пѓ Abiotic stress tolerance
Drought stress is one of the major environmental limitations on crop production.
Transgenic soybean expressing P5CR, encoding l О”1 pyrroline 5 carboxylate
reductase, which catalyzes the final step in proline biosynthesis, under the control of
an inducible heat shock promoter was more tolerant to drought and high temperature
than non transgenic plants (De Ronde et al. 2004a,
Use Of Imagery In Elizabeth Bowen s The Demon Lover
The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen is a short story that takes place during
World War II in London, England. The main character, Mrs. Drover travels by
herself to the bombed city to return to her boarded up house. While gathering
belongings, Mrs. Drover notices particular and out of place that begins to haunt her.
The reader witnesses her mental state deteriorate as she begins dreaming of safety.
The use of vivid imagery and flashbacks in The Demon Loverby Elizabeth Bowen
develops the mysterious and paranoid mood throughout the piece of literature.
During World War II, it was common for people living in the city of London to flee
into the country to avoid the bombings. Mrs. Drover is an example of this, and
travels to London by herself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drover finds a letter addressed to her, the letter, which bore no stamp, (Bowen
1084) that must have been recently placed on the table, as other objects wore a
film of another kind; and the only ventilation being the chimney, (Bowen 1084).
All the objects in the house were covered in dust, yet this letter had none on it. She
begins to wonder how did the letter appeared on the table; the caretaker is away
and the letter should have been forwarded to her residence in the country. Mrs.
Drover reads the letter in her old bedroom, which she discovers the letter was from
her fiance that was presumed dead during the first World War. In terror she
remembers what he left her, that cut of the button on her palm of hand was,
principally, what she was to carry away, (Bowen 1085). Her fiance was aggressive
and physically hurt Mrs. Drover to leave a memory of him.. In panic, Mrs. Drover
rushes to finish her tasks in the house as she wonders how he knows she is there
and when will he come. These thoughts are running through her head, as well as
the reader s head. Mrs. Drover becomes haunted with memories she has of him.
The letter is signed with by K so the reader is unaware of who the fiance is and his
past; however, based upon Mrs. Drover s reaction, the reader can conclude that this
man is someone to be feared. More and more panic sets in as time passes, Mrs.
Drover not knowing the set time they are to meet. The rain and the damaged, dark
house aids her paranoia as she begins to believe she is not alone, and is concerned
when hearing noises. Mrs. Drover wants to escape back to the country as soon as
possible to be with her family, in safety away from the dead
Analysis Of Waste By Wendell Berry
Waste is a short essay in which Wendell Berry critically analyzes the growing
epidemic of trash that is polluting the nation s land, waterways, and the air. Berry
explains to the readers how the remnants of floods and litter that leave farmlands
scattered with trash, makes more work for the farmers who have to rid their land
of the trash before they can use it. Along with the floods, roads and highways also
lead to a barrage of garbage from people who are too lazy or ignorant to take proper
care of their garbage, which Berry claims leads to . . . a constant precipitation of
cans, bottles, the plastic ware containers of fast food joints, soiled plastic diapers,
and sometimes whole bags of garbage, (Waste1) along the edges of their fields. The
garbage of the country continues to be a burden for everyone, whether it impacts
them directly or not. Although it would be impossible to eliminate garbage
completely from the country, the waste could be greatly reduced. Most of today s
trash is a consequence of the laziness of American society.
Berry describes Americans as human trash and unwilling victims because
Americans as a whole cannot provide for themselves. I d like to disagree, but no
matter how self sufficient we are, Americans survive on plastic containers. We as
Americans will always need to purchase food that the producers wrap in these toxic
plastic containers or wrappers that many people can t even be bothered to dispose of
properly. The least we could do is to
Rules In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Rules have been around since the beginning of time for the purpose of safety and
control in a population. But, what happens when there are more rules in place for
the sake of control as opposed to safety? The novel Anthem shows that when there
are more rules for control of individuals minds, they will be broken because the
individuals realize there is more to be discovered than what they are being told. This
can be seen through the plotand climax, as well as in the characterization of the
protagonist and antagonist, and through Equality 7 2521 s first person point of view.
Throughout the plot of the story, we see Equality 7 2521 slowly begin to break
small rules, then move on to break bigger ones because of the discoveries he has
made from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is important because as a reader I was able to see that when he broke rules he
didn t guilty about it.( Rand 20) When Equality 7 2521 was alone in the tunnel he
began to like the feeling of solidarity despite being told he would become evil if he
was alone. ( Rand 65)By knowing what he is thinking I was able to see how he felt
about his relationship with others, such as how he sees International 4 8818 as his
friend (Rand 13) and how he ends up falling in love with Liberty 5 3000 despite it
being forbidden to favor others. (Rand 77) It s especially important that the story was
told in first person because we can see Equality 7 2521 s reaction to what he reads in
the library at the house he and Liberty 5 3000 find after fleeing town. ( Rand 73)
Equality 7 2521 beings to refer to himself as I instead of We . He finally understands
that he possess his own body and spirit and doesn t have to do things for others
unless he is willing to.( Rand 74) As a reader you can tell he was happy he broke all
the rules that were oppressing him and realizes he never felt guilty and how it was a
good thing.(Rand
Rob Parson at Morgan Stanley
Rob Parson s performance assessment
The performance assessment of Rob Parson should be separated into two parts, the
external performance and internal performance. It will start by having an evaluation
on Rob Parson s current on job performance. The first part will focus on Rob Parson
s contribution to the company profit this year, which gives an overview of his
general performance in fulfill his job requirement in Morgan Stanley. Then for
internal , we would like to measure Parson internally that is how Rob Parson acts as
a employee in Morgan Stanley including how Parson s value and performance
aligned with the values of Morgan Stanley?

So if I were Nasr, for the first goal I would first go through the feedback from the
360 degree performance appraisal with Rob Parson. After going through both the
strength and weakness sated on the feedback, I would give my own assessment to
him and talk about his exceptional performance and production. Next, I would ask
Parson how he feels about his job situation and possibly suggest ways in which he
can change. In this area, I would like look more closely at his situation (those
situation he breaks the rule) .For example, Parson think that in the fast changing
business world, it is difficult to make a consensus with his co worker before he
takes action. And I would determine what should be the best action to take when
face such situation. Then I would discuss the promotion with Rob Parson. I would
explain to Parson that he needs to possess certain management and leadership
skills in order to be eligible for that position. I would say that if he keeps up his
production and creates goals to improve these skills, then he will be able to get the
promotion. I would make sure that my tone will not to be too aggressive so that
we don t lose him, but also not too weak in emphasizing the organization s values
and culture. The promotion can be used as a developmental goal for Rob Parson to
achieve if he is willing to set goals and develop his skills in the areas that need
General Electric Under Jack Welch
General Electric Under Jack Welch
In 1980 right before Welch took the position as CEO of General Electric, GE s
organizational rigid structure, resistance to change, and bureaucratic climate made it
impossible to perceive important environmental changes. Furthermore, the
organizational structure, decision making process and information management
procedures no longer fit the organization s needs. In 1981 Jack Welch was not
considered a leading contender for GE s top job. However, his performance and
earnings record ultimately won him the position over six other candidates. When
Jack Welch took office as the new chairman and chief executive officer of General
Electric, the company had entered the stage between the maturity ... Show more

Informality was also standard in company correspondence. Welch faxed
handwritten notes to anyone in the company who he felt deserved personal
communication, whether to motivate, correct, or congratulate. Welch also
personally reviewed everyone who worked directly for him, handwriting extensive
performance evaluations that sometimes ran several pages. This exercise not only
gave specific and ongoing feedback to employees but was a chance for Welch to
reflect on the businesses that each employee was leading. The atmosphere of
informality was perhaps most critical among GE s top leadership, where the
confidence that came from being in familiar company encouraged executives to
openly praise or criticize each other. Welch consistently forced executives to bicker
in meetings, the idea being to force management to know their businesses,
processes, and issues thoroughly before engaging in discussion with the boss. Under
such conditions Welch could determine a manager s level of dedication or passion
for a plan or policy by noting the extent to which he was willing to argue. Welch was
typically rude and had little patience for half measures and was equally combative in
performance review meetings, in which company leaders would discuss the
employees within their respective divisions. Welch could be quick to make judgments
with seemingly limited knowledge, but he wanted to stimulate
Marilyn Monroe Tragic Hero
The Tragedy of Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe is a timeless figure, known for her sensual yet innocent charm. Her
platinum blonde hair continues to be a popular trademark today, with other
celebrities continuing to imitate her. She is the image of Hollywood and American
perfectibility. However, she was not just a beauty queen who seemingly had the
world wrapped around her finger. She was also a vulnerable woman, who severely
struggled with mental illnesses, neuroticism, and high expectations. Marilyn Monroe
is an epitome of a tragic hero, as she was the victim of a downfall caused by
irreparable flaws. Monroe was born as Norma Jean Baker on June 1st, 1926. In her
childhood, a critical stage in life, she lived without stable parental ... Show more

These titles may sound flattering to some, and maybe at times she enjoyed them.
But her restrictive Hollywood image only seemed to add to her insecurity and
troubles. The sexual glorification of Monroe stems from the constant exploitation
that she has described from her earlier days in the business. While she both
despised and played to this, Marilyn Monroe would resent being typecast as a not
too smart sex symbol and would fight a very hard but ultimately losing battle to get
the public to believe that she was smarter (and less man hungry) than the women
she portrayed on the silver screen ( Ten Things You Might Not Know About
Marilyn Monroe. ). But why did a part of her also accept this? Why did she have
this overwhelming need to satisfy the same people who held her down? She
feared disappointing the public who put her on this pedestal and seeming
imperfect. She was said to wash her face up to 15 times a day in fear of blemishes
and sweat ( Marilyn s Beauty and Style. ), and at the 1950s Academy Awards, she
burst into tears. It seems that she failed to give herself the love and appreciation that
she needed. As a result, she mistakenly turned to the camera for

Tom Walker is a fellow that lives near a swamp not far from Boston Massachusetts.
He lives with his wife, both in misery, always arguing, and possibly has domestic

signs that their conflicts were not confined to words. basically he being the one to

The Vignette There Was An Old Woman
Do you believe minors need supervision to make sure they don t do anything?
Yummy is about a kid name Robert Sandifer who is 11 years old and had been
involved in a gang named the Black Disciples, and he tried to prove himself by
shooting a rival gang member. When doing that, he missed and shot Shavon Dean
and killed her. After that he had been on the run for a long time trying to get away
from the cops. His own gangmembers had believed that he had drawn too much
attention to their gang the Black Disciples and eventually murdered him. The
vignette There Was An Old Woman is about how this woman named Rosa Vargas
had lots of kids. Her kids did whatever they wanted, Angel Vargas believed that he
could fly and jumped of the roof and killed himself. The overall message of Sandra
Cisneros and Gregory Neri of these two stories was that minors need supervision so
they will not do things that can lead to horrible things happening.
Supervision is needed to make sure the minors don t do anything bad. In the
vignette There was an Old Woman it stated, But after a while you get tired of
worrying about kids who aren t even yours. Rosa Vargas kids did whatever they
wanted and never listened to the neighbors, eventually the neighbors gave up on
trying to stop them from doing bad things. In Yummy, it reads that There were so
many kids, Yummy could disappear for days and nobody d notice. Robert Sandifer
(Yummy) could run away from home and he could go somewhere without someone
Atticus Personal Response
I am reading the book, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. The recent chapters
we have been reading focus on how to walk in someone else s shoes. In chapter 10,
11, and 12 mostly talks about how Aunt Alexandra comes and lives with them for a
while and how Jem is maturing more. In chapters 13, 14, and 15 shows that Atticus
goes to the jail cell where Tom Robinson is and so Jem, Dill, and Scout sneak out
and go looking for him. They see that a mob of men are coming towards Atticus and
Tim, so Scout runs to him and makes an end to the situation. Who knew a young
child could protect a man from other men. Some personalities that Atticus shows is
knowledgeable and responsible.
G. (To begin with) I will be characterizing Atticus as knowledgeable... Show more

Within this story there is plenty of evidence to support this. Atticus is does not just
have multiple of knowledge for vocabulary and reading but he also has great
knowledge of kid behavior and to be in someone else s shoes. As a father of two,
he is knowledgeable in many materials. First of all, he teaches his children how
read at a young age, so his kids do not have difficulties in school. He tries to pass on
all of his knowledge to his kids. Another way he has plenty of knowledge is by
reading. He is not a normal father in Maycomb county, who drinks beer and plays
football. He would much rather read than play any active sport. One way to show
this from the book is He did not do the things our schoolmates fathers did: he never
went hunting, he did not play poker or fish or drink or smoke (Lee 119). This
shows that Mr. Finch prefers not to do the crazy stuff other fathers did. He prefers
to relax, read a book, and talk to his kids daily. The final way he demonstrates his
knowledge is by taking the Tom Robinson s case. He knows that he will not win
but he is doing it for himself. Atticus tells, The only thing we ve got is a black man
s word against the Ewell . The evidence boils down to you did I didn t (Lee 117).
This describes that even though he know he is not going to win the case, he is
going to try his best, so that is great knowledge of dedication. Not only is Atticus
knowledgeable, he is also responsible. One way he shows responsibility is by teaching
his kids to show manner to people...especially old ones. When Jem got furious at
Ms. Dubose and cut her camellia bushes, Atticus took it into his own hands and
made Jem apologize to her. A way he punished Jem is by reading to her for an hour
everyday for a month. Another way he shows responsibility is by asking his sister to
come and take help him take care of Jem and Scout. In the book it shows that, We
decided that
Offshore Exploration And Drilling
The Ocean s ecosystem is essential to a balanced, healthy life on Earth. Offshore
exploration and drilling is taking place in the Atlantic Ocean in endangered animals
habitats and nurseries. The U.S. should not be allowed to continue oil exploration
due to the concerns of the harming of marine life. The seismic surveys affect and
disrupt animal life and breeding. One of the North Atlantic Right Whales, which is an
endangered species, causes of fatalities and serious injuries is noise from industrial
activities. It is well known that these seismic surveys are affecting and hurting
endangered species according to a government researcher who studies sound. It s been
pretty well documented that seismic surveys have disrupted animal behavior and
animal communication ( Oil Exploration ). Additionally there are other studies that

Since 1975 offshore drilling has had a 99.999 percent safety record (Horton).
While the chances seem very slim for an incident to happen that harms the
ecosystem it still happens more than you think. There will be no less than one spill
a year of 1,000 barrels... a spill of 10,000 or more can be expected every three to
four years (Horton). And for the high safety rate of 99.999 percent of success and
safety it isn t as good as it can be. While the 99.999 percent safety record sounds
nice that 0.001 percent can be pretty horrific for people living there (Horton). The
U.S. should not be allowed to continue oil exploration due to the concerns of the
harming of marine life. If oil drilling is affecting the endangered species of the
Atlantic Ocean then we should not allow the government to permit it. Additionally to
killing endangered species it also is ruining the Ocean s natural habitat. Would you

Essay about Plane Crash
When I stepped into the large neatly organized white polished plane, I never though
something would go wrong. I woke up and found myself on an extremely hot
bright sunny desert island filled with shiny soft bright green palm trees containing
rough bright yellow hard felt juicy apples. The simple strong plane I was in earlier
shattered into little pieces of broken glass and metal when crashing onto the wet
slimy coffee colored sand and burning with red orange colored flames. After my
realization to this heart throbbing incident I began to run pressing my eight inch
footsteps into the wet squishy slimy light brown sand looking in every direction with
my wide open eyes filled with confusion in search of other survivors. After finding

the food or resources, everybody needs to help on any project that we do to get
rescued. You cannot go past the tenth apple treeuntil we run out of food and lastly if
any of the rules are broken you will not be able to have any food for the day. As I
slowly moved my head in a clockwise direction I saw their faces filled with shock
but as they began discussing these rules to each other they agreed. Three days
later, as I was walking back to shore the ocean blue water seeped through my feet
cooling them from the heated sand. As I stood there my eyes widened, my
eyebrows pushed together and I was angered and shocked. David, one of the
survivors, was running past the tenth tree. I quickly began moving, my heart was
pacing I could hardly breathe, I was running so fast that my feet began to burn. I
finally caught him stretching my arm forward and pulling his red filthy soft shirt. I
quickly brought him back to shore and called the other survivors. As his punishment
David had to be starved for the whole day, as the other survivors saw the pallor of his
skin, and pain from
Anne Sexton Woman
I have been her kind. (Sexton, lines 1 7)
Here, Sexton is not meaning that she has literally been a witch, but she empathizes
with the persecuted women of earlier centuries. When Sexton states that she is
braver at night and that she has done her hitch/over the plain houses, she is verbally
expressing that the tenebrosity is her only escape from the judging ocular perceivers
of people who lead impeccable, conventional lives in suburbia. (Sexton, lines 3 4).
The orator kens what it is relish to be the isolated witch who does not fit the typical
woman s mold, and who is a lonely thing that is cast out of society for not fitting in.
(Sexton, line 5). By saying that a woman like that is not a woman, quite, she is
exhibiting that people view women who are non conformist as flawed and not even
as legitimate women. In the second stanza, Sexton goes on to say that the speaker
has: Found the warm caves in the woods, Filled them with skillets, carvings, shelves,
Closets, silks, innumerable goods;
Fixed the suppers for the worms and the elves:
Whining, rearranging the disaligned.

She seems to be unhappy with the long established, traditional image of a woman:
One who fixes the suppers for her family, rearranges the misaligned in her domicile,
and who is whiny and repining (Sexton, lines 11 13). In the same way that the witch
is isolated because of the stigmas annexed to her lifestyle, Sexton is verbalizing that
a housewife can be solitary and misunderstood as well because of the isolation that
emanates from her subordinate role in society. Just as the witch or outcast is
misconstrue as malevolent or manipulating, the housewife can be misread as a

Beauty in Photoshop by Adobe Commercial
In the commercial Fotoshop by Adobe Rosten effectively convinces his audience
of the absurdity of society s obsession with physical appearance and the beauty

applying emotional appeal, satire and hyperbole. Beauty is something that is
largely considered a physical attribute. Beauty has and will always be desirable.
Today society believes that beauty is the way to get attention and acceptance.
Movies, magazines, music and other Arts of entertainment portray beauty as the

appeal to sway the feelings of the audience to make them buy Photoshop by adobe.
People walk around with variety of unfulfilled urges and motives swirling in the
bottom half of their minds. : Lusts, ambitious, tenderness, vulnerability. These
problems are constantly arising and seeking resolution. Rosten portrays the
audience motives and desires by giving form to the individuals inner lying desires,
showing what the individual privately yearns for. Rostens goal is to tug at the
audience psychological shirts sleeves and slow them down long enough for a

Social Media Narcissism And Self-Esteem
The purpose of the authors was to investigate the relationship between compulsive
use of social media, narcissism, and self esteem along with other factors that were
potentially associated with the addictive use of social media.
Information that supports a problem Facebook and other social media platform has
become an increasingly popular leisure activity over the last 10 years. With over 1
billion users, more and more studies have been conducted to investigate its negative
effects to the society. Recent studies have suggested that women are more inclined to
develop addictive behaviors towards activities involving social interaction.
Furthermore, exploring individual differences in terms of narcissism have found it to

A cross sectional convenient sample of 23, 532 Norwegians, which comprised of
8234 men and 15,298 women with an age range of 16 to 88 years old completed an
open web based survey. The authors used multiple assessment tools, which included
Bergen Social media Addiction Scale. This scale is anchored in general addiction
theory, and operationalizes social media addiction according to six basic addiction
symptoms which include salience, conflict, mood modification, withdrawal,
tolerance, and relapse. To assess sub clinical narcissism, the authors used the
Narcissistic Personality Inventory 16, a unidimensional measure. For this
assessment, the higher the score, the more narcissistic the individual is.
Furthermore, Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale was used to assess the levels of self
esteem in which statements are rated on a 4 point Likert scale ranging from Strongly
agree (0) to Strongly Disagree (3) and measures both positive and negative feelings
about the self.Gathered results demonstrated the positive and significant correlations
between addictive use of social media and narcissism (p .01). Additionally, statistics
revealed that self esteem contributed the most to the excessive use social media (p

Olaudah Equiano Biography
Olaudah Equiano, also known by the name of Gustavus Vassa which was given to
him by his master on a slave ship, was born in the Eboe province of Africa in 1775
1776. Eboe was a part of the kingdom of Benin which is now present day Nigeria.
Equiano, like many others, lived in a village and was kidnapped and sold into slavery.
From the chains of enslavement to the freedom in London, he believed that he and
his countrymen deserved freedom and equality. Religion would have a huge impact
on Equiano s life as he converted to Christianity after having many near death
experiences on his voyages around the world. He also used religion to argue his case
against slavery as he became involved in the abolitionist movement in London in the
late 18th century. Later in life, Equiano would begin writing his autobiography The
Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, the African,
Written by Himself and was published in 1789. The book would relive Equiano s
life in Eboe, he and his sister s capture and enslavement, the Middle Passage and the
horrors of slavery, his travels, and work as an abolitionist.
Olaudah Equiano begins his autobiography by claiming that he is neither a saint,
hero, or tyrant, but instead is favored by Heaven, which he gives credit for the
blessings he has received in his life. Equiano also hopes that his autobiography will
help his enslaved countrymen and other peoples of African descent. His story begins
in Eboe, present day Nigeria.
Essay On Performance Enhancing Drugs In Sports
A survey in 2003 stated that 103 baseball players used performance enhancing
drugs. In 2005 another survey revealed that 113 baseball players have used
performance enhancing drugs. A third survey in 2007 revealed that 89 baseball
players have used drugs (Nightengal). The Hall of Fame is a place where we honor
athletes that are considered outstanding or honorable according to their ability to
play the sport. In the 1800s, athletes swallowed doses of caffeine or sugar cubes
that were coated with ether because they believed it would make their hearts pump
blood. However, it only gave them headaches. Then in 1986, basketball star Len
Bias died of a cocaine overdose. Reverend Jesse Jackson said, On a day the
children mourn, I hope they learn. However, they did not learn because eight days
after Bias s death Don Rogers lost his life from a cocaine overdose. Then, three days
after him Willie Smith was arrested on cocaine charges (Nardo 10). Athletes who take

The athlete still earned their spot in the hall of fame even though that had to cheat
to get in there. The athletes have to make their own decision on which way they
want to get in the hall of fame so sometimes they chose to take the easy way out
and use drugs. It may not be the smartest choice for them to make in the long run
but they still have earned the hall of fame spot. Seats in the hall of fame are limited
so athletes want to get in the seat before someone else so they use the drugs to earn
the seat faster. My point of view is better because the hall of fame is normally the
highest or the best of the best athletes but when they use drugs to get there it is
showing their weakness. Athletes that show their weakness does not belong in the
hall of fame at all due to the fact they are not putting much effort into the
Top Girls Character Analysis
The play, Top Girls, by Caryl Churchill chronicles the lives of several women and
their struggle to achieve success and happiness, as well as exploring their personal
identities. Moreover, a central theme in the play was that of how one s choices can
affect a person s satisfaction with their life. This theme is especially prevalent in
the two contrasting characters of Marlene and Joyce. In Marlene s life, she is the
top girl. She has a successful career, and is even given a promotion. On the surface,
she is extremely satisfied with her life, however, in order to achieve this
satisfaction, she gave up a lot in her life. It has been years since she saw her
mother and sister, she s not in any stable relationship, and it s revealed that she
gave up her child to her sister s care when she was younger. This particular instance
of Marlene giving up her child is what McAdams would call a nuclear episode a
specific and consequential scene in a life story such as high point, low point, or
turning point. In talking to Joyce about this pivotal moment in her life, Joyce
seemed resolved in her decision, but it was evident in her expression and
physicality that she was still pained by her choice. So, while Joyce may be
satisfied with her work life, her social and family life has been pushed to the
wayside to make room for her big dreams. Yet, despite the difficult choices that
Marlene had to make in order to further her career and life, she still appears generally
satisfied with her
Native Americans Vs. The Native English-Speaking People
The difference in the two languages seem to reflect basically different ways of
identifying or understanding a person; The native English speaking people are likely
to understand a person starting with his/her present situation, while Koreans tend to
grasp the others starting with their origin. This interpretation is partly supported by
the order of information listed in one s CV or resume in English and Korean, which
is another type of introduction text of a person; While Koreans enumerate relevant
facts starting with those of the past, it is the other way around in English, i.e., present
to past. This interpretation is supported again by a study of another type of
introduction text, biography. According to Kim (2016), who analyzed the

Governments have over the years been forced to spend massive funds in arresting
and detaining criminals who relapse back to the crime the moment they are released.
Research according to (BJS, 2014), has proven that within a period of five years,
three out of four malefactors who initially were punished for crimes relapse back to
similar or different criminal activities. Many nations have already put in place
mechanisms to counter this problem in vain. It is for this reason that this unique
project has been presented and needs to be handled with the importance and urgency
that it deserves.
The background of this project is based on an in depth analysis of repeat offending.
This entails the factors responsible or contributing to recidivism. Research has proven
that most of the repeat malefactors are the kids who were exposed to violence at a
very early age, those who did not attain very high levels of education, those who
have got minor to serious psychological problems, the unemployed who have some
low level education as well as those involved in the abuse of hard drugs. Effectively
dealing with this problem thus lies in dealing with these issues. Arresting criminals
and subjecting them to the greatest of punishments has not seemed to work so far
because after the punishment, for as long as the underlying factors remain constant,
one will always forget the consequences of crime and relapse back to it if an
Analysis Of 2015 Advanced Micro Devices
Introduction
In 2015 Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was in a difficult position. The once
formidable competitor in multiple facets of the personal computer market had seen
its strong profits turn negative and its debt totals rise. The company was finding it
difficult to compete across multiple markets with due to a number of factors. The
most important of which was a series of weak product offerings, which created a
larger gap in the quality of AMD s products when compared with the competition.
AMD had once held large market shares in both the CPU (central processing unit) and
GPU (graphics processing unit) markets. Each of these products combine in the
personal computer to allow users to take on more demanding tasks such as video

IBM insisted that Intel provide a second source of chips as to avoid
overdependence on one supplier. In 1982 Intel and AMD signed a technology
exchange agreement to make AMD that second supplier. This agreement only gave
AMD access to the second generation or 286 chip technology. In 1984 Intel
attempted to cut AMD out of the process with the 386 family of chips. AMD filed
for legal action claiming that this was an attempt to create a monopoly and settled in
1987. This would not be the last time that AMD would seek legal action to prevent
Intel from creating a monopoly.
In 1991 AMD filed an antitrust complaint again claiming that Intel was engaged in
unlawful acts designed to secure and maintain a monopoly. In 1992 a court ruled
in AMD s favor and awarded $10 million as well as the ability to license Intel s 386
designs without paying a royalty. Finally in 1995 AMD settled the rest of its legal
disputes by agreeing to a deal that gave AMD a shared interest in the x86 chip design,
which is still being used today in personal computers. This agreement required AMD
to develop its own products with the x86 design. The company released its first
creation under the x86 architecture in 1999.
These agreements did not mark an end to the conflict between the two companies. In
2000 AMD complained to the European Commission that Intel was using overly

Recycling Vs Recycling
The first step once every person or at least country is equipped with the money to
start making changes is commit to the small stuff. This means recycle your paper,
metal, class, and plastic. This is not hard, and you can even get a small amount of
money back for some of your recycling. The government could be able to provide
incentives for the people in the United States, and in other countries to get them to
recycle. This could be as small as coupons to cash back. The next step is for
manufacturing companies to quit producing items that will just break down in a few
short years and rather start making things that are going to last along time and make
them out of the correct materials. Plastic does not decompose but rather sits in a
landfillfor hundreds of years. We need to eliminate the use of plastic and replace it
with a material that will last, and once it is no longer useable it can be recycled
again. As a community there needs to be changes made with in each.
Transportation needs to be eliminated as much as possible unless you think that it
is economically feasible for everyone to drop their old car and spring for the even
more expensive electric car. We would have less of a problem with switching from
gas to electric if it was possible to find an inexpensive part or make it possible for
people to trade in and not pay in full for an electric car. But other means of
transportation would not be difficult, you just have to have a system set in place such
as steam

However, there was a significant differentiation between Starbucks and the
independent specialty coffeehouses. The brand image of Starbucks also had some
rough edges. More customers were beginning to agree with the fact the Starbucks
cared primarily about making money and building more stores. Also, despite the high
customer snapshot scores customer satisfaction scores were declining. It was
believed that there was a service gap between Starbucks scores on key attributes and
customer satisfaction. In polls by customers improvements to service, particularly
speed of service, was most mentioned for improvement.
Has the company s service declined or is it simply measuring satisfaction the wrong
way?
Customer behavior and shift in customer base are major factors for this decline in
servive satisfaction. The company didn t follow the changing trend and continued
doing the same things which clearly were not working anymore, leading to
unsatisfied customers. Demographics changes means these people value other
aspects more than others. The behaviour also, as most customers visit the store only 5
times a month.
The overall company service has not necessarily declined. Overall, customers are
pleased with the cleanliness, atmosphere, and product quality. However, wait time is
steadily increasing. This is the main problem. While some people go to Starbucks for
the experience, many people get their coffee and are out the door. Therefore, wait
time is exceedingly

Student Loan for Higher Education
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the study. University education is probably one of the most
important investments parents make for their children. If we want to find a decent
job, we will probably require tertiary education. However, tuition fees seem to be
getting higher by the day. Consequently, those from lower or middle class families
face difficulty financing their children s education. To resolve this problem, they
need to find a lender who can help them to pay for their children s tuition fees. We
often hear about personal, home, or car loans, but for the purpose of this research, I
will shift my focus towards education loans. An education loan is basically funding
provided by an entity which typically the government, a bank, or an organization to
help a student pursue their studies by covering things such as their tuition fees, cost
of books, and living expenses. Therefore related to all the basic needs as a student,
they have to borrow the amount that they don t have in the moment of their study. By
getting the borrowing by these entities to further their study, the students
automatically create an event for them to move forward into repayment atmosphere
after they are completion the studies. When it comes to a stage of repay back the loan
to the lender, these students might face the problem where they can t manage to
handle the payment constantly that influences by the factors of the borrower s
attitude, the burden of the debt and the income of the
The Issue Of Orphan Drugs
Orphan drugs are drugs that treat rare diseases that are life threatening, seriously
debilitating, or cause serious and chronic conditions that affects only a relatively
small number of patients.
Rare or orphan diseases in Canada are those which affect less than 5 in 10, 000
people. About 6,000 to 8,000 rare diseases have been identified worldwide. Most
(~80%) are genetic disorders and the remainder are from either viral or bacterial
infections or are caused by environmental factors.
orphan drugs A patient with a rare disease target for orphan drugs
Over half begin early in childhood and are degenerative and life threatening. These
diseases are called orphans because the number of people affected is so small that
research on treatment would not be profitable for the pharmaceutical industry. The
cost of developing an orphan drug is the same as for other pharmaceuticals. This is
why incentives were developed to encourage vital and necessary orphan drugs
research.
Canada and Orphan Drugs Policy
Canada adopted an Orphan Drug policy on October 3, 2012. This made it the last
developed country to adopt an orphan drug policy. In July 2011 the orphan drug
Soliris, now available through restricted access, received funding from through the
Pan Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance, which negotiates drug prices for all
provinces and territories in Canada.
Health Canada will launch a regulatory framework for orphan drugs soon.
The proposed framework has 6 key features:
Essay On Peer Pressure
Peers are equal in abilities, age, background and even social stature. Peer Pressure
is society pressuring a member of a peer group to undertake certain actions, adapt
values, and do what they believe will allow them to be accepted into such a group.
In the Bible, the Old Testament, the Gospels, and the New Testament provides
examples of Peer Pressure. The ability to either fall into or steer clear of peer
pressure is through the virtues of courage, temperance and prudence. We are followers
of Jesus Christ and we are not the same humans that once roamed the earth. We are
should be more confident in ourselves and our actions than relying on others to tell
/show us what is acceptable or not. The Bible gives us examples regarding peer...

Mark 15:15 states that Pilate was peer pressured into doing an act that he knew
was not just, Wishing to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them, and
after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified. This Gospel
passage shows that our common sense can be easily altered by a crowd of people
wishing for a specific outcome. Pilate makes the ultimate decision and worries that
if the people do not get this outcome, they will riot and harm the one that made the
decision. This happens within our current society as well, regarding politics and
how the government feels pressured to do what the people want and if they do
not, they fear of rebelling occurring within their nation. Matthew 27:24 26 is alike
to Mark because he too uses Pilate and his actions as an example. Matthew writes,
When Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot was
starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying, I am
innocent of this Man s blood; see to that yourselves. And all the people said, His
blood shall be on us and on our children! Then he released Barabbas for them; but
after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified. These verses
precede an important beginning. Yes, Pilate succumbs to the crowds and wishes to
please them, but the crowd would not have yelled Barabbas to be freed if it were not

The Effect Of Water Quality On Faecal Contamination
The aim of this research project is to investigate the water quality in the Barcombe
Mills tributary. By collecting samples along the stream, becomes an attempt to be
illustrated the qualitative state of water, centring on faecal contamination. It is
attempted to assess the risk of water related illnesses from faecal contamination to
persons coming in contact with the river. It will also be a review of the causes of
poor water quality in Barcombe Mills tributary, in order to be applied techniques to
mitigate them. It is hypothesized that Barcombe Mills tributary is not safe for
individuals to use it for recreation and they were at risk of water related illness from

2.Literature Review
In order to be able to make an effective water analysis of Barcombe Mills tributary
and to meet the objectives of the project, there should be a collecting and
understanding of previous studies to identify the possible causes of the deterioration
of water quality in the basin. By analysing the work of previous years, it is possible to
detect gaps in the previous research. Furthermore, attention should be given to ways
in which the various stakeholders interact with the river, determining the impact on
the quality and quantity of water.
In recent decades the natural water quality has changed significantly. The Barcombe
Mills has to face many pollution threats with the most significant the sewage
treatment plant which is located there. The dissolved nitrates, phosphates and other
harmful chemicals increases since the faecal contain a large amount of ammonia,
posing a risk for river s rich variety of wildlife (Oart.org.uk, 2015). Water borne
human infectious diseases are associated with human or animal faeces. Animals are
becoming a worry, globally and they place an enormous trouble on the human
population of many countries (Domingo et al. 2007).Bacteria known as Faecal
indicator organisms (FIO) were used to indicate the occurrence of faecal
contamination. The most common FIO are Escherichia coli and Enterococci. These
organisms are ideal to
Eassy On Roundworm Essay
Toxocariasis is commonly known as the Roundworm Infection. With this species
there are four different approaches of acquiring infection. Possible ways of infection
include direct transmission (straight eating the eggs within stool), prenatal
transmission (contamination while in utero), paratenic transmission (the
transmission can occur with a and transmammary transmission (can be spread
through the mammary glands like breastfeeding and placenta). Egg are left in the
feces of dogs, from there they can be spread between 2 4 weeks. When dogs eat
infectious eggs it allows the eggs to hatch and the larval form of the parasite to
penetrate through the gut wall. In younger dogs, the larvae can travel via
bloodstream by piercing a bloodvessel in the gut wall. Once ingested, the eggs hatch,
and the larvae enter the wall of the small intestine. Once larvae become mobile they
can migrate through the host via circulatory system into the respiratory system into
other organs and tissues within the body. When they enter the body they can become

The larvae will simply undergo a dormant stage within an intermediate host until
they are in a dog again. The development of the larva into worm is restricted to the
gastrointestinal tract of a dog. If the parasite finds itself inside a human through
ingestion of the infective eggs, it does not exactly have a sense of direction. That s
right if a person eats egg infested poop, once the eggs hatch the larva or worms will
meander wherever they feel like going. That means if they want to take a trip
through the bloodstream and capillaries, lungs, or if they want to harbor in the brain,
liver or eye they can. The most common infestation in the human body leaves mild
symptoms, but once in the eye the effects can be local inflammation partial blindness
or complete blindness. Nerve endings can become damaged if tampered

Five Methods Of Discovery
The five methods of discovery are deposition, interrogatories, and request of the
production of documents, request of physical or mental examinations and request for
admission. These are all important for this case. Deposition An out of court question
and answer session under oath, conducted in advance of a lawsuit as a part of the
discovery process. Interrogatories written questions requiring written answers under
oath and directed to a party, in which another party seeks information related to the
litigation. Request for a physical or mental examination A request made by one party
to another party in that lawsuit to undergo a physical or mental examination provided
that the examination involves a condition that is at issue in the pending action.
Request for admission A request made by a party to another party in that lawsuit to
admit to the truthfulness of a fact or the genuineness of a piece of evidence. Request

CASE STUDY
History
Sesamware is a Japanese software company which is very popular for open source
software. Sesamware got international approval with an online multiplayer fantasy
dimension game, Para World in mid 1990. Para world was very popular in the
world between 2001 and 2004. Firstly, it was installed as part of the bundle
downloaded by hundreds of millions of gamers around the globe. The open source
code helped to easily adapt every facet of computer life for all platforms and
operating, networking, navigation and security systems. Question (1)

There is just a one person who sells products or services and there are no incentives
which help to break this monopoly. There are many monopoly industries in the
market. In monopoly, they use patents because they don t like if someone s copy their
inventions.
Adversely effects on international market and trade
The first price for game software was $US5.99 and it was unchanged. Low fee made
it impossible for the majority of software companies to compete and most of the
competitors were either bought by SesamWare or went out of business within three
years. SesamWare was once again at the center of an international lawsuit, this time
for subverting free market competition.
Question (3) There is Competition Law which governing the Sesame s behavior is
the law that promotes and maintains market competition by regulating anti
competitive conduct by companies. To enforce this law globally, it should be
regulate by W.T.O and ICC.
Competitions laws can be enforced globally through these organizations are:
World Trade Organization(WTO): WTO is an international agency which is helping
the nation members to provide barriers free trade and settle the disputes those are

between different countries. It was generated from GATT.

Examples Of Allusion In All The Light We Cannot See
In the novel, All The Light We Cannot See, the author, Anthony Doerr, uses
allusion to convey how Marie Laure (one of the main characters) interprets the
book 20,000 leagues under the sea. Since she is blind, Marie Laure reads in braille
and was given two significant things to help her adjust to her blindness; The book
20,000 leagues under the sea, and a handmade scale model of her town used for
navigation. As she continues to read the book she learns that Pages later, he
[Captain Nemo] rammed a warship full of men, passing through its hull like a
sailmaker s needle through cloth (Doerr 445). This quote showcases how war is
motivated. Captain Nemo was kind of an anti hero in the sense that he killed huge
sums of people, but the clear... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On page 520, Doerr uses imagery to show how a diamond called the Sea of flames
will eventually rise up from the water again and belong to someone with ill
intentions. The stone would be discovered in another year, another day, another
hour, when a storm claws one particular stone out of a canyon and sends it into a
clattering flow of alluvium, where it eventually finds, one evening, the attention
of a prince who knows what he is looking for. The Sea of flames was a diamond
that everyone wanted out of envy. It was priceless and beautiful, but was also
cursed; It protects the person who has it until they realize they can they survive on
their own. Marie Laure s father gives her the stone, but she learns that she never
needed it in the first place and that it does more harm than good. She decides to tell
her friend Warner to throw it out in the water inside a box with a key from the
Natural Museum of History, where her father had worked. This event can be
interpreted in many different ways, but the main idea that sticks out is that Warner
dies after he gets rid of the stone. Once he no longer possessed it, it could no longer
keep him safe. Everyone but him survived after the curse was lifted and the stone
was given back to the sea. This quote comes long after the initial event, and
showcases that the stone would not be hidden forever. That greed, no matter how
much it is suppressed, will find its way to the
Woodrow Wilson s President Of The United States
Thomas Woodrow Wilson was the 18th President of the United States. He is well
known as the President who led our nation through the First World War Wilson also
happens to be well remembered through Wilson s famous Fourteen Points. President
Wilson had also led America through important events on the domestic front and in
her foreign affairs. Almost every American has heard of President Thomas Woodrow
Wilsonas his legacy is still seen in America today as all his choices had a significant
effect on America and her future. During President Wilson s presidential terms,
American Industry had achieved new heights while leaving its mark on America to
this day. During 1914 America succeeded in opening the Panama Canal which
allowed the American... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the last and most important of the technological innovations during Wilson
s presidency was Henry Ford s first full assembly line which began producing cars
in Highland Park, outside Detroit in the early 1900 s. Henry Ford s assembly line
increased production of the Model Ts while creating jobs for over 13,000 men
leading to an automobile company that is still prevalent in the car business to date.
The Industrial innovations of the early 1900 s have left their mark on American
society. President Woodrow Wilson had always been wary of his neighbors in
Central and South America. Wilson s wariness led to his Watchful Waiting Policy
of Mexico once General Huerta took over Mexico through a coup d Г©tat. The
policy led to Wilson s decision after the Tampico Incident to send American
Warships into Tampico Bay after American sailors were briefly detained. The
Tampico Incident led to the ABC Conference which had a goal of three unbiased
nations, Argentina, Brazil and Chile, being the arbiter of the Incident. This would
lead America to come into problems worldwide and arbiter situations such as the
Tampico Incident through the World Court, League of Nations and later the United
Nations. President Thomas Woodrow Wilson had been faced with the greatest war
the world had ever faced to that point, the famous Great War or more widely known
as the First World War World War Ihad been unlike anything America faced as the
conflict started as a European conflict
Evidence Of Current Nationalism Trends
Evidence of Current Nationalism Trends:
As we have established globalisation was a geo eco political phenomena, that
among many other aspects allowed the free moment of people. Migration of people
for various reasons seems to be one of the posters of the success of globalisation.
however, the important aspect is not just the act of migration usually associated with
diaspora, but also the discourses of the culture identities and loyalties. As Arjun
Appaduria (1996) argues in his book Modernity at Large , such deterritorialization
prospers on the need of the diaspora for the establishment of some sort of contact with
its homeland, as the homeland is partly invented and imagines within the
deterritorialized groups, the fantasy of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These attributes of the Pro Russian movements in Ukraine goes hand in hand and yet
parallel with the ethnic national sentiments as prescribed by Smith (1998). Global
deterritorialization creates designated ethnic groups that share ancestry myths,
histories and cultural associations as a share of common belief rather than an actual
descendant. However other nationalist theories argue that such ethnic nationalism is
associated with the defined nation and its actual ancestral descendants (Montserrat,
2007). The causation of national and transnational terrorism is quite evidently
highlighted within this realm of argumentation. Sutherland (2012), highlights the
behaviour of the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka, relating the cultural conditioning
techniques of association to that of ethnic and ancestral background. The notorious
Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), even though united under the ethnic history
and nationalism, embarked on a mission in order to claim territorial, economic and
political power, however were rather branded terrorists as a way to legitimise the war
against their ethnic nationalism.
Similarly, transnational nationalism especially in events that followed the September
11 attacks, acts as a very important ordeal of ethnic national. Even though the
formation of nationalism
Globalization Of Dreams And Its Effects On Dreams
Globalization of Dreams
The focus of this study is to continue previous research relating the significance of
cultures and dreams. These studies have set out to show what how much of an effect
culture has on dreams. To measure this, other researchers have recorded participants
typical dreams. These studies have helped us to understand some of the differences
in beliefs, values, and structure of other cultures as well as the differences and
similarities. Through analyzing the differences and similarities of our various
cultures we learn what humans share in values as a whole and how our society
influences our thinking and actions. By interviewing two people from two different
collectivistic cultures, there should be a great deal of similarities between the two.
Any differences recorded found will be derived from individual perspectives rather
than culture. The goal of the research is to show culture doesn t heavily influence our
dreams but rather individual perceptions of the world around them do. There isn t a
significant difference in typical dreams between cultures, rather researchers tend to
agree that culture doesn t have much of an effect on dreams and it has more to do
with our individual perception of our day (Jaenicke 2009).
In Griffith, Miyago, and Tago s (1958) study of The Universality of Typical Dreams:
Japanese vs. Americans, statistics showed out of the 34 typical dreams compared
between the two, 14 held a significant difference of a .01 confidence
Serial Killer
When you hear the words serial killer, you instantly think about people like Jeffrey
Dahmer, Ed Gein, Ted Bundy, or Charles Manson. You don t think about a family
man with a wife and two children, county board member, President of the church
congregation council, or a Cub Scout leader. Dennis Rader possessed all of these
shining attributes. He also possessed a dark secret. This secret had festered in him
from an early age and grew as he got older. Dennis Raderhad fantasies about bondage,
control, and torture which eventually led to murder. Rader s reign of terror began in
1977 and ended with his capture in 2005, almost 30 years later. He labeled his
victims as projects . He hunted his prey in stages he described as the trolling stage
and stalking stage . He even called the tools used for his trade his hit kit . Dennis
Rader was a stone cold killer who had no plans of stopping.
The letters BTK stands for Bind, Torture and Kill , which was Rader s mode of
operation and a name he gave to himself. Throughout the years and in numerous
communications with the police, he talked about his need for acknowledgment. In
the 1990 s BTK had disappeared from sight when, without explanation, he re emerged
in 2004. This re emergence was more than likely due to his need for acknowledgment
or public attention. In 2004, Rader started sending multiple letters, clues, and photos
to the authorities that led to his capture and arrest in 2005.
Dennis Rader was born on March

  • 2. Slasher Informative Speech The Slasher Film: The Modern Day Fairy Tale General Purpose: To inform the audience about the psychological appeal of the slasher film, a brief history of the genre, and the links to urban legends and fairy tales. Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about direct link to morality tales and the slasher film genre. Thesis Statement: Slasher films are modern day morality tales, rooted deeply in urban legends and fairy tales, as clearly depicted in John Carpenter s Halloween, where characters are punished with violence for their risky behavior. I.Introduction A.When asked to describe the two types of horror films, director Guillermo del Toro stated: Much like fairy tales, there are two facets of horror. One is pro institution, which is the most reprehensible type of fairy tale: Don t wander into the woods, and always obey your parents. The other type of fairy tale is completely anarchic and antiestablishment Guillermo del Toro. (Attention Getter) In my presentation I will focus on the aspect of the slasher film genre as modern day fairy tales, with an underlying message of morality. B.John Carpenter s 1978 film Halloween epitomizes the slasher films, encompassing the most common themes of this genre, including teenagers making the transition into adulthood by engaging in reckless behavior, a maniac using violence as a teaching tool for the audience, a final survivor girl, and an immortal maniac. (Thesis) C.In my presentation I will briefly describe the history
  • 3. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Soybean Soybean is an important crop, with food, nutritional, industrial, and pharmaceutical uses. Soybean seeds contain about 40% protein and about 20% oil. They are also abundant in physiologically active metabolites such as isoflavones, lecithins, tocopherols and saponins, in addition to functional proteins and are used as an affordable source of foods that promote and maintain health (Sugano 2005). The genomic era is now under way for soybean, as for other many crops. Recently, a soybean genomics database has been developed from the whole genome sequence (Schmutz et al. 2010), and a large number of genomic, transcriptional, and functional annotated sequences can be retrieved from Phytozome In addition to efforts to sequence the whole genome, several ... ADVANTAGES OF SOYBEAS TRANSFORMATION пѓ Insect and nematode resistance Insecticidal crystal proteins (cry proteins or Оґ endotoxins) are an active component of Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt) toxin, a biological insecticide (Tabashnik 1994). Expression of the Bt cry gene in soybean has proven highly effective for controlling insect pests , and the resistance to lepidopteran pests in a transgenic line expressing Bt cry1A was confirmed under field conditions пѓ Disease resistance Soybean mosaic virus (SMV) is endemic in virtually all regions where soybeans are grown in the presence of vector insects. SMV can cause serious yield losses (Ross 1969), so virus resistance is an essential trait for introduction пѓ Abiotic stress tolerance Drought stress is one of the major environmental limitations on crop production. Transgenic soybean expressing P5CR, encoding l О”1 pyrroline 5 carboxylate reductase, which catalyzes the final step in proline biosynthesis, under the control of an inducible heat shock promoter was more tolerant to drought and high temperature than non transgenic plants (De Ronde et al. 2004a,
  • 4. Use Of Imagery In Elizabeth Bowen s The Demon Lover The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen is a short story that takes place during World War II in London, England. The main character, Mrs. Drover travels by herself to the bombed city to return to her boarded up house. While gathering belongings, Mrs. Drover notices particular and out of place that begins to haunt her. The reader witnesses her mental state deteriorate as she begins dreaming of safety. The use of vivid imagery and flashbacks in The Demon Loverby Elizabeth Bowen develops the mysterious and paranoid mood throughout the piece of literature. During World War II, it was common for people living in the city of London to flee into the country to avoid the bombings. Mrs. Drover is an example of this, and travels to London by herself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drover finds a letter addressed to her, the letter, which bore no stamp, (Bowen 1084) that must have been recently placed on the table, as other objects wore a film of another kind; and the only ventilation being the chimney, (Bowen 1084). All the objects in the house were covered in dust, yet this letter had none on it. She begins to wonder how did the letter appeared on the table; the caretaker is away and the letter should have been forwarded to her residence in the country. Mrs. Drover reads the letter in her old bedroom, which she discovers the letter was from her fiance that was presumed dead during the first World War. In terror she remembers what he left her, that cut of the button on her palm of hand was, principally, what she was to carry away, (Bowen 1085). Her fiance was aggressive and physically hurt Mrs. Drover to leave a memory of him.. In panic, Mrs. Drover rushes to finish her tasks in the house as she wonders how he knows she is there and when will he come. These thoughts are running through her head, as well as the reader s head. Mrs. Drover becomes haunted with memories she has of him. The letter is signed with by K so the reader is unaware of who the fiance is and his past; however, based upon Mrs. Drover s reaction, the reader can conclude that this man is someone to be feared. More and more panic sets in as time passes, Mrs. Drover not knowing the set time they are to meet. The rain and the damaged, dark house aids her paranoia as she begins to believe she is not alone, and is concerned when hearing noises. Mrs. Drover wants to escape back to the country as soon as possible to be with her family, in safety away from the dead
  • 5. Analysis Of Waste By Wendell Berry Waste is a short essay in which Wendell Berry critically analyzes the growing epidemic of trash that is polluting the nation s land, waterways, and the air. Berry explains to the readers how the remnants of floods and litter that leave farmlands scattered with trash, makes more work for the farmers who have to rid their land of the trash before they can use it. Along with the floods, roads and highways also lead to a barrage of garbage from people who are too lazy or ignorant to take proper care of their garbage, which Berry claims leads to . . . a constant precipitation of cans, bottles, the plastic ware containers of fast food joints, soiled plastic diapers, and sometimes whole bags of garbage, (Waste1) along the edges of their fields. The garbage of the country continues to be a burden for everyone, whether it impacts them directly or not. Although it would be impossible to eliminate garbage completely from the country, the waste could be greatly reduced. Most of today s trash is a consequence of the laziness of American society. Berry describes Americans as human trash and unwilling victims because Americans as a whole cannot provide for themselves. I d like to disagree, but no matter how self sufficient we are, Americans survive on plastic containers. We as Americans will always need to purchase food that the producers wrap in these toxic plastic containers or wrappers that many people can t even be bothered to dispose of properly. The least we could do is to
  • 6. Rules In Ayn Rand s Anthem Rules have been around since the beginning of time for the purpose of safety and control in a population. But, what happens when there are more rules in place for the sake of control as opposed to safety? The novel Anthem shows that when there are more rules for control of individuals minds, they will be broken because the individuals realize there is more to be discovered than what they are being told. This can be seen through the plotand climax, as well as in the characterization of the protagonist and antagonist, and through Equality 7 2521 s first person point of view. Throughout the plot of the story, we see Equality 7 2521 slowly begin to break small rules, then move on to break bigger ones because of the discoveries he has made from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is important because as a reader I was able to see that when he broke rules he didn t guilty about it.( Rand 20) When Equality 7 2521 was alone in the tunnel he began to like the feeling of solidarity despite being told he would become evil if he was alone. ( Rand 65)By knowing what he is thinking I was able to see how he felt about his relationship with others, such as how he sees International 4 8818 as his friend (Rand 13) and how he ends up falling in love with Liberty 5 3000 despite it being forbidden to favor others. (Rand 77) It s especially important that the story was told in first person because we can see Equality 7 2521 s reaction to what he reads in the library at the house he and Liberty 5 3000 find after fleeing town. ( Rand 73) Equality 7 2521 beings to refer to himself as I instead of We . He finally understands that he possess his own body and spirit and doesn t have to do things for others unless he is willing to.( Rand 74) As a reader you can tell he was happy he broke all the rules that were oppressing him and realizes he never felt guilty and how it was a good thing.(Rand

Next, I would ask Parson how he feels about his job situation and possibly suggest ways in which he can change. In this area, I would like look more closely at his situation (those situation he breaks the rule) .For example, Parson think that in the fast changing business world, it is difficult to make a consensus with his co worker before he takes action. And I would determine what should be the best action to take when face such situation. Then I would discuss the promotion with Rob Parson. I would explain to Parson that he needs to possess certain management and leadership skills in order to be eligible for that position. I would say that if he keeps up his production and creates goals to improve these skills, then he will be able to get the promotion. I would make sure that my tone will not to be too aggressive so that we don t lose him, but also not too weak in emphasizing the organization s values and culture. The promotion can be used as a developmental goal for Rob Parson to achieve if he is willing to set goals and develop his skills in the areas that need
  • 8. General Electric Under Jack Welch General Electric Under Jack Welch In 1980 right before Welch took the position as CEO of General Electric, GE s organizational rigid structure, resistance to change, and bureaucratic climate made it impossible to perceive important environmental changes. Furthermore, the organizational structure, decision making process and information management procedures no longer fit the organization s needs. In 1981 Jack Welch was not considered a leading contender for GE s top job. However, his performance and earnings record ultimately won him the position over six other candidates. Informality was also standard in company correspondence. Welch faxed handwritten notes to anyone in the company who he felt deserved personal communication, whether to motivate, correct, or congratulate. Welch also personally reviewed everyone who worked directly for him, handwriting extensive performance evaluations that sometimes ran several pages. This exercise not only gave specific and ongoing feedback to employees but was a chance for Welch to reflect on the businesses that each employee was leading. The atmosphere of informality was perhaps most critical among GE s top leadership, where the confidence that came from being in familiar company encouraged executives to openly praise or criticize each other. Welch consistently forced executives to bicker in meetings, the idea being to force management to know their businesses, processes, and issues thoroughly before engaging in discussion with the boss. Under such conditions Welch could determine a manager s level of dedication or passion for a plan or policy by noting the extent to which he was willing to argue. Welch was typically rude and had little patience for half measures and was equally combative in performance review meetings, in which company leaders would discuss the employees within their respective divisions. Welch could be quick to make judgments with seemingly limited knowledge, but he wanted to stimulate
  • 9. Marilyn Monroe Tragic Hero The Tragedy of Marilyn Monroe Marilyn Monroe is a timeless figure, known for her sensual yet innocent charm. Her platinum blonde hair continues to be a popular trademark today, with other celebrities continuing to imitate her. She is the image of Hollywood and American perfectibility. However, she was not just a beauty queen who seemingly had the world wrapped around her finger. She was also a vulnerable woman, who severely struggled with mental illnesses, neuroticism, and high expectations. Marilyn Monroe is an epitome of a tragic hero, as she was the victim of a downfall caused by irreparable flaws. Monroe was born as Norma Jean Baker on June 1st, 1926. These titles may sound flattering to some, and maybe at times she enjoyed them. But her restrictive Hollywood image only seemed to add to her insecurity and troubles. The sexual glorification of Monroe stems from the constant exploitation that she has described from her earlier days in the business. While she both despised and played to this, Marilyn Monroe would resent being typecast as a not too smart sex symbol and would fight a very hard but ultimately losing battle to get the public to believe that she was smarter (and less man hungry) than the women she portrayed on the silver screen ( Ten Things You Might Not Know About Marilyn Monroe. ). But why did a part of her also accept this? Why did she have this overwhelming need to satisfy the same people who held her down? She feared disappointing the public who put her on this pedestal and seeming imperfect. She was said to wash her face up to 15 times a day in fear of blemishes and sweat ( Marilyn s Beauty and Style. ), and at the 1950s Academy Awards, she burst into tears. It seems that she failed to give herself the love and appreciation that she needed. As a result, she mistakenly turned to the camera for

  • 12. The Vignette There Was An Old Woman Do you believe minors need supervision to make sure they don t do anything? Yummy is about a kid name Robert Sandifer who is 11 years old and had been involved in a gang named the Black Disciples, and he tried to prove himself by shooting a rival gang member. When doing that, he missed and shot Shavon Dean and killed her. After that he had been on the run for a long time trying to get away from the cops. His own gangmembers had believed that he had drawn too much attention to their gang the Black Disciples and eventually murdered him. The vignette There Was An Old Woman is about how this woman named Rosa Vargas had lots of kids. Her kids did whatever they wanted, Angel Vargas believed that he could fly and jumped of the roof and killed himself. The overall message of Sandra Cisneros and Gregory Neri of these two stories was that minors need supervision so they will not do things that can lead to horrible things happening. Supervision is needed to make sure the minors don t do anything bad. In the vignette There was an Old Woman it stated, But after a while you get tired of worrying about kids who aren t even yours. Rosa Vargas kids did whatever they wanted and never listened to the neighbors, eventually the neighbors gave up on trying to stop them from doing bad things. • 13. Atticus Personal Response I am reading the book, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. The recent chapters we have been reading focus on how to walk in someone else s shoes. In chapter 10, 11, and 12 mostly talks about how Aunt Alexandra comes and lives with them for a while and how Jem is maturing more. In chapters 13, 14, and 15 shows that Atticus goes to the jail cell where Tom Robinson is and so Jem, Dill, and Scout sneak out and go looking for him. They see that a mob of men are coming towards Atticus and Tim, so Scout runs to him and makes an end to the situation. Who knew a young child could protect a man from other men. Some personalities that Atticus shows is knowledgeable and responsible. G. (To begin with) I will be characterizing Atticus as knowledgeable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within this story there is plenty of evidence to support this. Atticus is does not just have multiple of knowledge for vocabulary and reading but he also has great knowledge of kid behavior and to be in someone else s shoes. As a father of two, he is knowledgeable in many materials. First of all, he teaches his children how read at a young age, so his kids do not have difficulties in school. He tries to pass on all of his knowledge to his kids. Another way he has plenty of knowledge is by reading. He is not a normal father in Maycomb county, who drinks beer and plays football. He would much rather read than play any active sport. One way to show this from the book is He did not do the things our schoolmates fathers did: he never went hunting, he did not play poker or fish or drink or smoke (Lee 119). This shows that Mr. Finch prefers not to do the crazy stuff other fathers did. He prefers to relax, read a book, and talk to his kids daily. The final way he demonstrates his knowledge is by taking the Tom Robinson s case. He knows that he will not win but he is doing it for himself. Atticus tells, The only thing we ve got is a black man s word against the Ewell . The evidence boils down to you did I didn t (Lee 117). This describes that even though he know he is not going to win the case, he is going to try his best, so that is great knowledge of dedication. Not only is Atticus knowledgeable, he is also responsible. One way he shows responsibility is by teaching his kids to show manner to people...especially old ones. When Jem got furious at Ms. Dubose and cut her camellia bushes, Atticus took it into his own hands and made Jem apologize to her. A way he punished Jem is by reading to her for an hour everyday for a month. Another way he shows responsibility is by asking his sister to come and take help him take care of Jem and Scout. In the book it shows that, We decided that

One of the North Atlantic Right Whales, which is an endangered species, causes of fatalities and serious injuries is noise from industrial activities. It is well known that these seismic surveys are affecting and hurting endangered species according to a government researcher who studies sound. And for the high safety rate of 99.999 percent of success and safety it isn t as good as it can be. While the 99.999 percent safety record sounds nice that 0.001 percent can be pretty horrific for people living there (Horton). The U.S. should not be allowed to continue oil exploration due to the concerns of the harming of marine life. Three days later, as I was walking back to shore the ocean blue water seeped through my feet cooling them from the heated sand. As I stood there my eyes widened, my eyebrows pushed together and I was angered and shocked. David, one of the survivors, was running past the tenth tree. When Sexton states that she is braver at night and that she has done her hitch/over the plain houses, she is verbally expressing that the tenebrosity is her only escape from the judging ocular perceivers of people who lead impeccable, conventional lives in suburbia. (Sexton, lines 3 4). The orator kens what it is relish to be the isolated witch who does not fit the typical woman s mold, and who is a lonely thing that is cast out of society for not fitting in. (Sexton, line 5). By saying that a woman like that is not a woman, quite, she is exhibiting that people view women who are non conformist as flawed and not even as legitimate women. In the second stanza, Sexton goes on to say that the speaker has: Found the warm caves in the woods, Filled them with skillets, carvings, shelves, Closets, silks, innumerable goods; Fixed the suppers for the worms and the elves: Whining, rearranging the disaligned. In the same way that the witch is isolated because of the stigmas annexed to her lifestyle, Sexton is verbalizing that a housewife can be solitary and misunderstood as well because of the isolation that emanates from her subordinate role in society. Just as the witch or outcast is misconstrue as malevolent or manipulating, the housewife can be misread as a nonessential or lesser

From the chains of enslavement to the freedom in London, he believed that he and his countrymen deserved freedom and equality. Religion would have a huge impact on Equiano s life as he converted to Christianity after having many near death experiences on his voyages around the world. He also used religion to argue his case against slavery as he became involved in the abolitionist movement in London in the late 18th century. Later in life, Equiano would begin writing his autobiography The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, the African, Written by Himself and was published in 1789. The book would relive Equiano s life in Eboe, he and his sister s capture and enslavement, the Middle Passage and the horrors of slavery, his travels, and work as an abolitionist. Olaudah Equiano begins his autobiography by claiming that he is neither a saint, hero, or tyrant, but instead is favored by Heaven, which he gives credit for the blessings he has received in his life. Equiano also hopes that his autobiography will help his enslaved countrymen and other peoples of African descent. His story begins in Eboe, present day Nigeria.

Moreover, a central theme in the play was that of how one s choices can affect a person s satisfaction with their life. This theme is especially prevalent in the two contrasting characters of Marlene and Joyce. In Marlene s life, she is the top girl. She has a successful career, and is even given a promotion. On the surface, she is extremely satisfied with her life, however, in order to achieve this satisfaction, she gave up a lot in her life. It has been years since she saw her mother and sister, she s not in any stable relationship, and it s revealed that she gave up her child to her sister s care when she was younger. This particular instance of Marlene giving up her child is what McAdams would call a nuclear episode a specific and consequential scene in a life story such as high point, low point, or turning point. In talking to Joyce about this pivotal moment in her life, Joyce seemed resolved in her decision, but it was evident in her expression and physicality that she was still pained by her choice. So, while Joyce may be satisfied with her work life, her social and family life has been pushed to the wayside to make room for her big dreams. Yet, despite the difficult choices that Marlene had to make in order to further her career and life, she still appears generally satisfied with her

This means recycle your paper, metal, class, and plastic. This is not hard, and you can even get a small amount of money back for some of your recycling. The government could be able to provide incentives for the people in the United States, and in other countries to get them to recycle. This could be as small as coupons to cash back. The next step is for manufacturing companies to quit producing items that will just break down in a few short years and rather start making things that are going to last along time and make them out of the correct materials. Plastic does not decompose but rather sits in a landfillfor hundreds of years. We need to eliminate the use of plastic and replace it with a material that will last, and once it is no longer useable it can be recycled again. As a community there needs to be changes made with in each. Transportation needs to be eliminated as much as possible unless you think that it is economically feasible for everyone to drop their old car and spring for the even more expensive electric car. We would have less of a problem with switching from gas to electric if it was possible to find an inexpensive part or make it possible for people to trade in and not pay in full for an electric car. But other means of transportation would not be difficult, you just have to have a system set in place such as steam

By analysing the work of previous years, it is possible to detect gaps in the previous research. Furthermore, attention should be given to ways in which the various stakeholders interact with the river, determining the impact on the quality and quantity of water. In recent decades the natural water quality has changed significantly. The Barcombe Mills has to face many pollution threats with the most significant the sewage treatment plant which is located there. The dissolved nitrates, phosphates and other harmful chemicals increases since the faecal contain a large amount of ammonia, posing a risk for river s rich variety of wildlife (Oart.org.uk, 2015). Water borne human infectious diseases are associated with human or animal faeces. Animals are becoming a worry, globally and they place an enormous trouble on the human population of many countries (Domingo et al. 2007).Bacteria known as Faecal indicator organisms (FIO) were used to indicate the occurrence of faecal contamination. The most common FIO are Escherichia coli and Enterococci. These organisms are ideal to
  • 38. Eassy On Roundworm Essay Toxocariasis is commonly known as the Roundworm Infection. With this species there are four different approaches of acquiring infection. Possible ways of infection include direct transmission (straight eating the eggs within stool), prenatal transmission (contamination while in utero), paratenic transmission (the transmission can occur with a and transmammary transmission (can be spread through the mammary glands like breastfeeding and placenta). Egg are left in the feces of dogs, from there they can be spread between 2 4 weeks. When dogs eat infectious eggs it allows the eggs to hatch and the larval form of the parasite to penetrate through the gut wall. In younger dogs, the larvae can travel via bloodstream by piercing a bloodvessel in the gut wall. Once ingested, the eggs hatch, and the larvae enter the wall of the small intestine. Once larvae become mobile they can migrate through the host via circulatory system into the respiratory system into other organs and tissues within the body. When they enter the body they can become encyst (pretty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The larvae will simply undergo a dormant stage within an intermediate host until they are in a dog again. The development of the larva into worm is restricted to the gastrointestinal tract of a dog. If the parasite finds itself inside a human through ingestion of the infective eggs, it does not exactly have a sense of direction. That s right if a person eats egg infested poop, once the eggs hatch the larva or worms will meander wherever they feel like going. That means if they want to take a trip through the bloodstream and capillaries, lungs, or if they want to harbor in the brain, liver or eye they can. The most common infestation in the human body leaves mild symptoms, but once in the eye the effects can be local inflammation partial blindness or complete blindness. Nerve endings can become damaged if tampered

Examples Of Allusion In All The Light We Cannot See In the novel, All The Light We Cannot See, the author, Anthony Doerr, uses allusion to convey how Marie Laure (one of the main characters) interprets the book 20,000 leagues under the sea. Since she is blind, Marie Laure reads in braille and was given two significant things to help her adjust to her blindness; The book 20,000 leagues under the sea, and a handmade scale model of her town used for navigation. As she continues to read the book she learns that Pages later, he [Captain Nemo] rammed a warship full of men, passing through its hull like a sailmaker s needle through cloth (Doerr 445). The stone would be discovered in another year, another day, another hour, when a storm claws one particular stone out of a canyon and sends it into a clattering flow of alluvium, where it eventually finds, one evening, the attention of a prince who knows what he is looking for. The Sea of flames was a diamond that everyone wanted out of envy. It was priceless and beautiful, but was also cursed; It protects the person who has it until they realize they can they survive on their own. Marie Laure s father gives her the stone, but she learns that she never needed it in the first place and that it does more harm than good. She decides to tell her friend Warner to throw it out in the water inside a box with a key from the Natural Museum of History, where her father had worked. This event can be interpreted in many different ways, but the main idea that sticks out is that Warner dies after he gets rid of the stone. Once he no longer possessed it, it could no longer keep him safe. Everyone but him survived after the curse was lifted and the stone was given back to the sea. This quote comes long after the initial event, and showcases that the stone would not be hidden forever. That greed, no matter how much it is suppressed, will find its way to the

The Industrial innovations of the early 1900 s have left their mark on American society. President Woodrow Wilson had always been wary of his neighbors in Central and South America. Evidence Of Current Nationalism Trends Evidence of Current Nationalism Trends: As we have established globalisation was a geo eco political phenomena, that among many other aspects allowed the free moment of people. Migration of people for various reasons seems to be one of the posters of the success of globalisation. however, the important aspect is not just the act of migration usually associated with diaspora, but also the discourses of the culture identities and loyalties. As Arjun Appaduria (1996) argues in his book Modernity at Large , such deterritorialization prospers on the need of the diaspora for the establishment of some sort of contact with its homeland, as the homeland is partly invented and imagines within the deterritorialized groups, the fantasy of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These attributes of the Pro Russian movements in Ukraine goes hand in hand and yet parallel with the ethnic national sentiments as prescribed by Smith (1998). Global deterritorialization creates designated ethnic groups that share ancestry myths, histories and cultural associations as a share of common belief rather than an actual descendant. However other nationalist theories argue that such ethnic nationalism is associated with the defined nation and its actual ancestral descendants (Montserrat, 2007). The causation of national and transnational terrorism is quite evidently highlighted within this realm of argumentation. Sutherland (2012), highlights the behaviour of the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka, relating the cultural conditioning techniques of association to that of ethnic and ancestral background. The notorious Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), even though united under the ethnic history and nationalism, embarked on a mission in order to claim territorial, economic and political power, however were rather branded terrorists as a way to legitimise the war against their ethnic nationalism. Similarly, transnational nationalism especially in events that followed the September 11 attacks, acts as a very important ordeal of ethnic national. Even though the formation of nationalism
  • 45. Globalization Of Dreams And Its Effects On Dreams Globalization of Dreams The focus of this study is to continue previous research relating the significance of cultures and dreams. These studies have set out to show what how much of an effect culture has on dreams. To measure this, other researchers have recorded participants typical dreams. These studies have helped us to understand some of the differences in beliefs, values, and structure of other cultures as well as the differences and similarities. Through analyzing the differences and similarities of our various cultures we learn what humans share in values as a whole and how our society influences our thinking and actions. By interviewing two people from two different collectivistic cultures, there should be a great deal of similarities between the two. Any differences recorded found will be derived from individual perspectives rather than culture. The goal of the research is to show culture doesn t heavily influence our dreams but rather individual perceptions of the world around them do. There isn t a significant difference in typical dreams between cultures, rather researchers tend to agree that culture doesn t have much of an effect on dreams and it has more to do with our individual perception of our day (Jaenicke 2009). In Griffith, Miyago, and Tago s (1958) study of The Universality of Typical Dreams: Japanese vs. Americans, statistics showed out of the 34 typical dreams compared between the two, 14 held a significant difference of a .01 confidence
