Looking For Alibrandi Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Looking for Alibrandi" presents its own set of challenges. The
complexity lies not only in dissecting the intricate layers of the narrative but also in capturing the
essence of the characters, themes, and the socio-cultural context that shapes the story. Juggling
between analysis, interpretation, and personal reflections can be demanding, as one must delve
deep into the nuances of the novel to extract meaningful insights.
The task involves more than just summarizing the plot or describing the characters. It requires a
thoughtful exploration of the themes, character development, and the author's stylistic choices.
One must navigate through the protagonist's journey of self-discovery, examining the impact of

The Merode Altarpiece By Robert Campin
Robert Campin was one of the earliest masters of Flemish painting and is also
considered to be one of the founders of the realistic style of oil painting in the
Netherlands. His most famous painting is The Merode Altarpiece; it is oil on
wood and is believed to have been made from 1427 1432. Campin had help on the
Merode Altarpiece from Rogier van de Weyden and Jacques Daret. The Merode
Altarpiece is also known as the Annunciation, which is when the archangel Gabriel
came to tell Mary that she would be the mother of Jesus.
What really captured my attention about this painting is the way in which it portrays
three different scenes, yet manages to connect them all together. Campin made each
of these scenes very detailed, and each scene has
E Bike Marketing Plan
* EXECUTIVE SUMMARY : This marketing plan examines the launch of a human
electric hybrid bicycle called e bike by the world s largest motorcycle
manufacturing company HONDA, in China. We all know that the Global Warming
is a serious issue to be addressed. This is the right time to realize the importance of
eco friendly products to save the earth from global warming and its ill effects.
Unfortunately the automobile emissions are the second largest contributors for the
green house gases. Honda with a vision to become the world leader in environment
and energy technologies launches this innovative and futuristic eco friendly product
called e bike. This zero CO2 emission mobility is certainly a head turner which is
stolen from the future,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This boom was triggered by Chinese local governments efforts to restrict
motorcycles in city centers to avoid traffic disruption and accidents. By late 2009
motorcycles are banned or restricted in over ninety major Chinese cities. Users
began replacing traditional bicycles and motorcycles and, in e bike became an
alternative to commuting by car. * LEGAL AND REGULATORY FORCES In
China electric bikes currently come under the same classification as bicycles and
hence don t require a driver s license to operate. Previously it was required that
users registered their bike in order to be recovered if stolen, although this has
recently been abolished. Due to a recent rise in electric bicycle related accidents,
caused mostly by inexperienced riders who ride on the wrong side of the road, run
red lights, don t use headlights at night etc., the Chinese government plans to
change the legal status of illegal bicycles so that vehicles with an unladen weight
of 20 kg or more and a top speed of 30kmh or more will require a motorcycle license
to operate, while vehicles lighter than 20 kg and slower than 30kmh can be ridden
unlicensed. In the southern Chinese cities of Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen,
electric bicycles, like all motorcycles, are banned from certain downtown districts.
There are also bans in place in small areas of Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing. *

White Cargo was co written by Don Jordan and Michael Walsh. Don Jordan was
born in Ireland, but lives in London. His first writing job was reporting on a dog
show for a newspaper. He later joined the flagship ITV current affairs programme

has produced and directed many television drama films and documentaries.
Michael Walsh lives in London and has written four books with Don Jordan. When
people think about or hear the word slave African Americans comes to mind,
because that is what we are taught. What we are not taught is that there were white
slaves before there were any African American slaves. This book was brought to
my attention when my government teacher talked about it in class and how it was
such a good book and it was a must read book. It started when England thought they
were in danger of being overwhelmed by the poor. While some thought that the
New World as being the dream of an American empire other saw it as a place for
England s unwanted. England started sending criminals to the New World instead of
jail, because they thought it would help them become better men. The whole
sending criminals to the New World failed because many of them would die from
diseases or the weather. Jamestown the first successful colony in America came to

disappeared. When John White was ordered to go check on the settlers in Roanoke

Washington, MO. Dr Smith gave the following information: Arlene Skornia and her
husband Wilbur had been patients under his care for 10 20 years. He had overseen
Arlene on several hospitalizations, and surgical recoveries, finding her and her
husband to be intelligent, articulate people. He had met her sons but had little direct
contact with them. Arlene had a number of complex medical issues and at the time
of her admittance to Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO in August 2013 was being
seen by several specialists to include her Oncologist, Dr Heuser. Dr Smith says it was
Dr Heuser that actually had her admitted to the hospital on August 13, 2013. He
learned about it when the hospital contacted his office to tell him one of his patients

medication levels and the effects it was having. Because of her overall medical

to come back to our store whenever they something and we want them to feel
comfortable coming to our store, and we want our customers to tell their friends

out the best in each other so we make as much profit as possible. Customer service
is one of our biggest priorities mainly because that s what we are known for. There
are many people out there in need of a job now a days due to the economy, we hire
people over the age of 16 that need a job, if they re under 18 they need a working
permit, that have the want to grow within a company, handicapped/disabled people
are always welcome. We follow the state regulation that s why we only hire over
the age of 16. Always in the search for people that want to grow within a company,
there are always opportunities to grow here and we encourage people to take the
position if it is available. We always welcome handicapped or disabled because they
deserve an equal opportunity. Wal Mart is not a union they deal with management

Night Sky Experiment
Our night sky, always seems to be sparkling at night, due to stars. Stars are
luminous ball of gas, mostly hydrogen and helium, held together by its own
gravity. Our night sky is filled with groupings of stars creating a galaxy, or also
known as The Milky Way. The Milky Way, is one of many galaxies in a Local
Group, containing between 100 400 billion stars. Observing these stars with the
naked eye is sometimes difficult, however technology today has made it much
easier. In the experiment Number the Stars , we used two different types of
telescopes, and a paper towel roll to record different counts of stars in different
brightness s in the sky. Between my partner and I we hypothesized that the larger
focal point on the telescope, would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we compared the counts between the bright and dark locations. The bright
locations average around 90% less stars than in the dark regions. However, when
observing the sky with two different eye pieces, the number of stars drastically
increased when viewing through the 40 mm, almost doubling. The viewings/counts
came out to be very diverse in which the tables will show below.

III.Discussion
a.When looking at the data between the two different eyepieces, with different focal
lengths, we can see that our hypothesis was correct. Eyepiece two has a larger focal
point allowing us to see more stars in the dark night. Also, we can conclude that the
darker the viewing/ observing area in the sky, allows the naked eye to see more
visible light.
b.An experiment like this allows us to understand the visibility in light vs dark and
the comparison between telescopes and the
Gunther Kress Summary
Gunther Kress states in Multimodal Discourse Analysis that the goal of multimodal
discourse analysis (MMDA) is to understand the actual meaning and relationship of
how meaning is created (175). Discourse analysis is very broad and in order to
understand MMDA, Kress divides the chapter up into subsections with questions for
titles. In the first subsection Kress states how the most common issues are partiality
of language, logics and affordances of modes, rhetoric, selection and design, and
recognition of semiotic work (177). Kress gives an example about how people
understood an exhibition in a museum. Gunther finds that an eighteen year old girl
and an eleven year old boy have very different exhibits that they admired. This

International Trade Is A Crucial Part Of The U.s. Economy...
In today s America, international trade is a crucial part of the U.S. economy. In
2012 U.S. exports of services exceeded U.S. imports of services by $196 billion.
Efficient production of various goods requires different technologies and certain
endowments of resources, and not all nations have the same level of technological
expertise and resources (McConnell, 2015). Trade deals allow countries to benefit
from the technology and resources of other countries. The Trans Pacific
Partnership also known as TPP is a proposed trade deal and would be the biggest of
its kind. Originally TPP had both support of democrats and republics during the
Obama administration with little opposition, but recently the TPP has been a hot
button issue in the 2016 presidential election. Donald Trump, being one of the
biggest critics of TPP called it unfair and a potential disaster for our country that
would cost American jobs. Donald Trump isn t the only presidential candidate
opposed to TPP though; Hillary Clinton has said that TPP could lose American jobs
to the manipulations that countries particularly in Asia have engaged in. While many
politicians have concerns for TPP, an in depth look at the trade deal from both sides
of the argument will help identify many issues with TPP; both good and bad. This
examination of the Trans Pacific Partnership is an attempt to answer two basic
questions about TPP; those questions being: 1.What are the benefits of the Trans
Pacific Partnership? 2.What are the
Importance Of Nonverbal Communication
Being able to communicate with people is a skill that is vital in almost any career
out there. Nursing in particular is a career in which would have serious trouble
surviving if the people going into the field refused to develop their own
communication skills. These communication skills are often overlooked by many
people because they don t understand the concepts and levels that go into it.
Nonverbal communicationis more than just sign language, it has 3 different and
distinct levels to categorize it, the three being: physical appearance, kinesics, and
artifacts. Another extremely important aspect of communication is paralanguage or
vocalics which are a form of verbal communication, it helps to modify the meanings
of verbal messages. Both of these concepts in communication are used daily by nurses
to solve problems and communicate with their patients and coworkers. If people in a
healthcare environment, not having good communication can lead to miscare of
patients and in some extreme cases it can cause death. Nonverbal communication has
ten different channels that are used to categorize it: body kinesics, facial expressions,
eye contact, space (proxemics), artifacts, touch (hepatics), para language, silence,
time, and smell. Many of these channels contain their own sub channel that contains a
unique set of channels used to categorize aspects of the main channel. All these
channels, both main and sub help to define nonverbal communication and its
functions as a whole. The
Relationship between Doormen and Tenants
Doormen and tenants are socially distant from, yet immensely close to each other.
Nannies often have to personalize their service to accommodate the needs of different
children, and by doing so, they accumulate both directly and indirectly an extensive
knowledge about the people they work for. But to keep professionalism, they often do
not disclose much about their own personal lives and because nannies are often
employed by those who are relatively wealthy, there is also a class distance. Bearman
reveals that there is an inconsistency in the relationship between doormen and tenants
because on a socioeconomic level, tenants are often from a higher status, thus creating
an apparent class difference. But in order for doormen to deliver professional service,
they must pay attention to tenants specific lifestyles and tenants themselves often
unknowingly train doormen by letting their preferences be known either implicitly or
explicitly. Such interaction bridges the distance since doormen develop a rather
intimate knowledge about and a personal closeness with the tenants. An alternative
explanation that could explain why doormen and tenants have a conflicting
relationship is that social distance is always perceived because it is ingrained by
societal norms, but it contradicts with a closeness that is actually tangible. There is
an indelible mindset influenced by social standards that when an individual works for
another person, especially for monetary pay, the inherent

Powerful buyers are less likely to shift loyalties as they might not find others willing
to cater to the niche markets as the focused organizations do. The specialization that
focused organizations is able to achieve in serving a niche market acts as a powerful
barrier to substitute products/services that might be available in the market. For the
same reasons as above, the competence of the focused organization acts as an
effective entry barrier to potential entrants to the niche markets. *Risks associated
with focus *business *strate*gy: Firstly, serving niche markets requires the
development of distinctive competencies to serve those markets. The development of
such distinctive competencies may be a long drawn and difficult process. Being
focused means commitment to a narrow market segment. Once committed, it may be
difficult for the focused organization to move to other segments of the markets. A
major risk lies in the cost configuration for the focused organization. Typically, the
costs for the focused organization are higher as the markets are limited and the
volume of production and sales small. Niches are often transient. They may disappear
owing to technology or market factors. For instance, a new technology may make the
process of making the niche products easier. Or there might be shift in the customer s

shallow over exaggerated beauty, dominated by ignorance, of what real beauty is
all about, so they wanted to reshape the definition of beauty, from a stereotype of
what a woman s look should be, to what real beauty is all about. Instead of
following the market, for standards in beauty traits, like full lips, small nose, wide
eyes, thin anatomy, to change these concepts into something entirely different, a

Sacrifices
Hello, my name is Villette Jones and I am here to give my thoughts, definition, and
analysis on Sacrifice. Sacrifice has many different meaning and even more synonyms
to go along with it, a few words or phrases that catch my immediate attention when
thinking of Sacrifice are ( Cede, Immolate, Endure, and Part With ). However when
I asked associates and my peers majority of them thought of Forfeit. When I take
time to really think, in my own opinion Sacrifice is Forfeit, Suffering, and
Offering. These are very significant second hand words to my original word
(Sacrifice), and as you read along I will show you exactly what I mean by it.
The meaning I get from the word Forfeit is Loses, a Penalty, and being deprived of
something. Forfeit is such a major second hand word to Sacrifice and the reason
forfeiting is so major, is because majority of the time you re losing something of
significant value. A great story of someone having to forfeit something for a
greater cause is Everett Alvarez Jr. Alvarez Jr is a former U.S Navy Commander

Anti Gun Control
A 2012 study found that there an estimated 310 million guns in the U.S. They are
comprised of 114 million handguns, 110 million rifles, and 86 million shotguns. In
a population of 314 million people, that equates to almost one gun per person.
There are 8 million firearms produced globally each year, of which 4.5 million are
purchased by Americans. Now while those statistics are staggering, it s only fair to
mention that only 20% of the population owns 65% of the U.S. firepower. Most
people argue that it is the second amendment right to keep and bear arms, but what
does the constitution actually say? A well regulated militia, being necessary to the
security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be
infringed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The U.S. makes up 5% of the world s population, but owns between 35% and 50%
of the world s civilian firearms (Kiger, 2003). Yes Finland and Switzerland have
high gun ownership rates too but there crime rates are much lower and they
enforce stricter gun control laws. For example, In Finland police have the
authority to deny or revoke a person s gun license if the applicant is convicted of a
crime that they feel may imply they wouldn t be a safe gun owner. They also don t
allow large capacity magazines and any gun that is take outside of the owner s
home must be unloaded and stored in a locked cabinet. As a final note, Finland
requires you to list your reason for gun ownership and they do not consider self
defense as a valid reason. Now most Americans cite self defense as their reason for
owning a gun, but how often are firearms actually used for that purpose? A study
found that guns are used for defensive measures approximately 2.5 million times
each year, that s only 1% use of a gun for defensive purposes. To add to that, people
who use guns are 4.5% more likely to be shot in an assault than those who are
unarmed (Kiger,
Descriptive Essay About Dogs
Over the years, I ve encountered hundreds of dogs during my runs. Most are
friendly and simple behaving the way dogs have behaved forever. But, in those few
times, that Little Fido wasn t so friendly, you are forced to make a choice: either
stand your ground (and maybe even go on the offensive) or else find some way to
defuse the situation, which will ultimately lead to your escape.
My pet peeve (excuse the pun) is the dog owner who, as the unleashed dog is
viciously barking, snarling and nipping hysterically at you, usually mere
centimeters from your private area , will calmly say: Oh he won t bite. Or Don t
worry. He s never bitten anyone before. There s a first time for everything and I don
t want to be some dog s first time for anything.
As for Tim s and my encounter with the dogs on our run, I would have never
believed what happened unless I was there to witness it. Without breaking stride
and without raising his voice, Tim began to tap the metal pipes together as we
crossed in front of the driveway. The instant, the dogs heard the noise coming from
the banging pipes, they stopped barking, came to a screeching halt at the base of
their driveway, and simply stood there and watched us as we ran by.
Maybe it was the unique noise that the pipes made that did the trick, but for a very
long time afterward, whenever I ran with Tim, and he had those pipes, we never had
another issue with a dog. The amazing part of those pipes was that all during that
time, whenever he
Comparing The Grimm Brothers And The Little Mermaid
Contrasting the Grimm brother s version and Disney s version of The Little Mermaid.
Although both stories follow along with the same idea, they are entirely two
different stories. Having lesser detail, the original fairy tale was very short and
only gave the main character a name, a back story, and a goal. Disney s
interpretation was more decorated and told a much longer, kid friendly story. The
Grimm Brothers created a dark and simple fairy tale that was full of unexpected
twists and turns. Each sentence was very simple, and didn t add unnecessary details.
I would like to have read more about other characters, as it gave zero information on
any of the other characters past what kind of creature they were. I found it really

Professor Kraychir A motivated workforce can be a significant success when
employees are motivated to work at a higher levels of productivity. Also this means
the whole organization is more effective at reaching it s goals. Rewards can be a
positive outcome when it comes to boosting your organizations self confidence and
higher employee satisfaction. Having a reward system can always be a good
outcomes because this shows how much your workers are willing to work to
achieving a goal in order to receive something in return. This not only gets things
done but brings out another side of your organizations as a whole. Of course when
using a reward systems and you decide to put one in place for your organization,
there should be a good enough reward placed. Just for example a worker will not
work two times as hard for something they do not want. The reward has to get your
organization, employees motivated to achieve the goal you have set. There are
aligned organizational goals, when an employee helps achieve one of its goals a
heft reward often follows. And that s what get the worker bees running, seeing that

The information found in the article Short supply, high demand sees avocado

Avocado Growers Association chief executive Jen Scoular is because the health
effects avocados provide. With the markets raising awareness and grabbing
consumers interest, leads to a higher demand at a limited source of supply. This

When faced with a supply and demand issue we are faced with a product that is in
demand but cannot be supplied or is limited to supply. As we see in the avocado
scenario, the demand for avocados was skyrocketing however the supply was
limited. Therefore, adjustments need to be made in order to maintain the current
supply, or outsource for more. When this occurs the price of the product is bound
to increase. The industry feels that price increase justifies what the value of the
product is at the particular time. The higher the demand the higher the price. With
supply and demand it proves that if people really want something they will pay for
it regardless of the cost. Let me use the Samsung Galaxy S5 as an example: the
phone has a retail value of $599.99, within a day of the phone being out, every store
was sold out. Consumer s had the demand for the phone and the supply was there.
However, that same phone is a few months may only be
Graduation Speech On The State Exams
Writer Profile Essay
Throughout the 15 years of my academic career, academic writing has become a
much larger part of the curriculum. The writing assignments have gone from
simple, one line sentences describing a picture to a simple, 3 paragraph persuasive
essay on the state exams in high school; all the way to a 25 page comprehensive
research essay during my freshman year at East Stroudsburg University. As the years
and assignments progressed, I developed a set of writing weakness and strengths that
still shape the way I write today. Additionally, I have had many opportunities to
experience the different styles of writing available. Both of those factors will help
me achieve the rigorous goals that I have set for myself and this class. ... Show more

Fast forward about 10 years and another major writing assignment delineates itself
in my mind. It was fall semester of my freshman year here at ESU. In my 19th
Century History class, the professor assigned us a research essay comparing a
Union prison during the civil war to Andersonville Prison in the South. We had to
use a book my professor wrote about Andersonville to compare and contrast the two
prisons. We were assigned this paper at the beginning of the semester and had all
semester to work on it. By the time I handed it in, it had grown to a whopping
twenty five pages and over eight thousand words. This remains by far the longest
and most detailed paper I have written. From a simple haiku in 4th grade to a
comprehensive research essay during my freshman year of college, I have
experienced many different types and styles of assignments. As the more difficult
assignments have been assigned, I have noticed that I have a few weaknesses as
well as strengths that are affecting my writing. Although I have outgrown many of
my old writing weaknesses, I have also developed new ones that affect my writing
to varying degrees. One weakness is that I tend to become overly wordy in order to
reach the desired length of the assignment. It s a continual mystery to professors why
some students feel compelled to include material that clearly isn t relevant to the
paper. From time to time, we even see a confession that these items aren t really
Vegetarianism Is A Better Lifestyle Than Eating Meat And...
People eat food every day without knowing its origin or how it was processed. As
people mature, they pay more attention to how food affects them, instead of how it
affects the environment. Although it is a fact that everyone needs to consume food
to survive, what kind of food one consumes is ultimately the choice of the person
themselves. Vegans and vegetarians support both a healthy diet and environment
without exerting themselves. Veganismand vegetarianismis a better lifestyle than
eating meatand meat products. Intentionally avoiding flesh eating first came into
place as a part of rituals for short lived purification. Evidence of vegetarianism has
been found during different times and places all over the world. The teaching of
Pythagoras of Samos, a philosopher, in the fifth century BC is the first recorded
teaching of avoiding flesh eating in the Mediterranean. He taught that kinship of all
animals is a base of goodwill towards each other ( Vegetarianism ). Vegetarianism has
been around since the sixth century BC in Greece and Italy; their biggest motive was
to avoid harming animals ( Vegetarian Verve ). In Europe during the seventeenth and
eighteenth century CE, the greater significance of humanitarianism and moral
progress, and the return of animal awareness allowed vegetarianism to expand and
gain attention ( Vegetarianism ). By the 1830 s, the term vegetarian was already
being used in the United States. However, it was not popularized until
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Framing
framing comes from its ability to define the terms of a debate without the audience
realizing it is taking place. (Tankard, 2001, p. 96)
Using frames has the risk of finding only the frames I am unconsciously looking
for. I might tend to find conventional or stereotypical ways of looking at the
content. I try to avoid that by always reflect on my work and try to find different
ways to look at it. Three kinds of framing exist. First, a frame can be used to select
and exclude parts. Second, frames can also be used to set a tone for issues or events.
The presentation or interpretation of events can change through the chosen frames.
And the third one is, that frames can be used as a central organizing idea to build the

[...] [S]cience can be made to look empirical or theoretical, pure or applied. (Gieryn,
1983, p. 781)
The demarcation of science is happening all the time in everyday practices and
settings. It is created and recreated in contrast to other forms of knowledge. In every
situation, where scientists talk about science, specific attributes are selected to
counter them to non scientific knowledge forms. A particular form of science is built
up in every context, where it is talked about science, and also a contrast to that one,
which defines in this context what science is not. (Gieryn, 1983)
Analysis of the content of these ideologies suggests that science is no single thing:
characteristics attributed to science vary widely depending upon the specific
intellectual or professional activity designated as nonscience , and upon particular
goals of the boundary work. The boundaries of science are ambiguous, flexible,
historically changing, contextually variable, internally inconsistent, and sometimes
disputed. [...] [S]cientific knowledge is at once theoretical and empirical, pure and
applied, objective and subjective, exact and estimative, democratic (open for all to
confirm) and elitist (experts alone confirm), limitless and limited (to certain domains
of knowledge). (Gieryn, 1983,
Othello as a Tragic Hero Essay
Othello is a tragic hero because of his greatnesses and his weaknesses. He is a
noble man who possesses all the qualities of a military leader, which he is. He has
control over himself and shows courage as well as dignity. Just as Othello is a
virtuous man there are some flaws within him, these flaws complete him ff as a tragic
hero. Othellois often blinded by trust and can not see a person for who they really
are. He trusts the people around him even when they mean to afflict harm upon him.
Through this, it can be seen why Othello is one of the most tragic hero out of all the
characters from Shakespeare s many plays.
To begin with, Othello is a graceful man with a valiant personality which draws

As an example. this shows how Othello deals with style and grace under fire, when
accused of witchcraft by marrying Desdemona. Othello neither yells nor screams, but
explains in a way that captivates his audience and enhances the emotions in the play.
Aside from the greatnesses there also are some flaws. With Othello being a military
leader for most of his life, trusting another military friend would be common and
therefore Othello had no reason to not trust iago. So it can be said that Othello has
tragic weaknesses, one being too trustworthy. Many times Othello does not see the
evil acts of iago. He is used to dealing with military people on the battlefield, where
you put your life in the hands of others. In this situation trust is very important.
Othello says that iago is a man of honor and trust and therefore has no reason to doubt
his honesty.
Likewise another weakness of Othello s would be that he is a man who gets
confused easily and cannot judge right from wrong. This can be seen when
The Suspense Genre Of The Walking Dead
The suspense genre has drastically changed over time. From visual effects to the
story telling, society has taken up a completely new form of television that has
impacted many viewers. When The Walking Dead came out, it brought out a side
to television shows that had never been seen before; it started out as another
television show but it turned into something bigger. It is something that viewers
never want to end. The way these people had to live their lives brought a certain
understanding of what would happen in a post apocalyptic scenario. The reason so
many people are drawn into this show is not only for the blood and gore but
because viewers can see an aspect of themselves in the show. Psychologically, it is

The first one Tenga and Basset describe as the Terror Management Theory which
details the factor of death and the toll it takes into a human s psych and then there is
the Moral Foundation Theory which describes the moral options one must take in
order to live (how far one is willing to go). Terror Management Theory posits that
humans have developed elaborate psychological defenses to mitigate the potentially
overwhelming anxiety engendered by the terrifying awareness of personal mortality.
Attempts to suppress thoughts of death and to extend longevity are insufficient, but
cultural worldviews provide comfort by offering the perception of an orderly,
meaningful world and by defining the means through which individuals can literally
or symbolically extend identity and existence. Terror Management Theory seems
particularly applicable to the behavior of the characters in The Walking Dead , who
live with the relentless threat of impending death. The theory also seems well suited
for analyzing viewers reactions to the series, given their emotional attachment to and
identification with its characters (Tenga, Basset). In other words, the theory states
that for the audience to come to terms with death and the realization that they will
eventually die, their sub conscious looks at the world as a
The Concert Of The Packed Recital Hall
In the packed recital hall, an orchestra performs their warmup rituals. The venue
boasts of chandeliers, perfect lighting, cushioned seats and richly carpeted aisles
leading to the stage on which stands a Steinway grand piano in front of the orchestra.
The pianist and conductor mount the stage. The soloist bows while the audience
claps. Silence descends on the room and the performer takes a seat at the piano.
Strains of beautiful music emanate from the instruments and fill the room. The
pianist s fingers fly across the keys. Amazed, the audience listens in total silence.
One of the greatest composers had left his mark on this audience. The piece was the
Concerto No.1 in D minor by Johann Sebastian Bach. He was the greatest composer
not just because of that piece but also considering music history, his personal story,
his popularity during lifetime, the volume of his compositions, the make up of his
music, and familiarity today.
Music history is divided four main time periods. Famous musicians lived and
composed masterpieces throughout all four eras. The Baroque period, from 1600
1750, was characterized by ornamented and extravagant pieces. Well known
musicians, Bach and Handel, achieved recognition for their choral works during this
time. The Classical period spanning from 1750 1825, differentiates from the Baroque
period in that music employed strict and simple technique. At the peak of the
Classical period, Mozart and Beethoven produced orchestral and instrumental works.
The And The Refugee Crisis
Wir Schaffen Das Was what Herbert Quelle, the German consul general of Chicago,
announced last Thursday. The translation to English is We can do this . He was
discussing the refugee crisis in Germany, his home country, and how it was necessary
to accept them. As refugees enter a new country, many of them are scared and
confused by being submerged in an unfamiliar culture. By comparing the refugee
crisis in Europewith the highly populated refugee town of Clarkston, Georgia, the
idea of accepting those different than ourselves becomes a duty, as humans make the
movement towards being global citizens.
There are two ways the originals respond to the newcomers, either by accepting or
by denying them. Denying them seems to be the most common way, and
according to Quelle is the easy way out. There are pressures from society to be less
open , says Quelle. At first, people tend to be wary when accepting others. They
figure that the newcomers should totally adopt all of the originals customs and
forget about their own, which is unrealistic. In the town of Clarkston, a major issue
the originals had was allowing the Fugees, a soccer team of refugees, to play in the
park fields. The mayor s argument was that the fields were for baseball, although
there were no baseball teams. The other less common way is accepting these
refugees. When the originals accept the refugees, they show them how to get
accustomed to the new culture. In Outcast United, Luma and Tracy helped out their

Bullying School Shootings
Issue: If you or your child have ever been a victim of bullying then you know how
horrible one can feel. There are many emotions and fears associated with bullying,
and no one should have to be subjected to it. Bullying can have a lasting effect not
only in one s present life but their future as well. Bullying is very prominent in
schools today, and there has been an increase in school shootings, which is the
extreme reaction to being bullied. Children need to consider each other s feelings

this predicament. This was a response from of a principal telling a male student
who attempted to self report being bullied. The principal failed to take the report
seriously and even failed to document the incident (Boske, Osanloo, 2015). * 28%
of children bullied in schools are 12 to 18 years old (Boske, Osanloo, 2015). There
is an urgency to better understand the immediate and long term impact bullying
may have on children s development because incidents may go unreported and the
impact of bullying is often unidentifiable or invisible. The concern lies knowing
most children spend at least 30 hours a week in school (Boske, Osanloo, 2015).

Casablanca as Political Propaganda Essay
Casablanca debuted in 1942, shortly following the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the
United States entrance into World War Two, although there was plenty of anti
Nazism sentiment, the movie fueled these feelings. There is pro Allied forces
propaganda to support the war, from the scene with La Marseillaise, to the characters
of Renault and Rick, and to the last scene. Although the majority of the French
patriots were elated to sing their national anthem, it created tension with the German
soldiers who imposed their patriotic songs on the crowd, representing the imposition
of Germany on Franceduring the war. Captain Louis Renault, who tries to placate
who he believes will be the winning side, seems flimsy when compared to Rick, the

The anthem stirs up the patriotism in the people as they slowly join the fight, all of
which is happening under the roof of an American man?s cafГѓ . Without the
American cafГѓ , the French patriots would not have been able to fight and
embarrass the Germans with the song, so with American equipment, the French are
able to fight back. Variety Magazine in 1942 describes the film as having, ?splendid
anti Axis propaganda, particularly inasmuch as the propaganda is strictly a by
product of the principal action and contributes to it instead of getting in the way? It
is just another facet of the variety of moods, action, suspense, comedy and drama
that makes ?Casablanca? a number one entry at the box office? (variety). This
message is important for American viewers especially because it emphasizes the
necessity of the Americans in the war efforts and their vital role.
The characters in Casablanca all contribute to the political allegory, for example Rick
is strong and isolated like America, Strasser is the typical Nazi general representing
Germany, and Renault is compliant with the Germans like France. American Rick
and European Louis look out for each other s interests throughout the film, just as
America and Western Europe did once the United Statesentered the war. Renault had
to obey and follow the Strasser?s demands until he had leverage and the knowledge
that he could defeat or overcome

even the appointment of a new Justice of the Peace.

Resources And Capabilities Of Dunkin Donuts
Nowadays, businesses endeavor to achieve a competitive advantage and so an
outstanding performance by applying different strategies and examining various
strategic analyses. Key role for this strategy is the manager s contribution, as he is
the one to defy the company s objectives. The manager is responsible in order to

the fundamental sources a manager can use, when he structures the strategic

Self-Disclosure In Sports Psychology
The authors concluded with a few take home messages. The first is that self
disclosure can have a profound impact (both positive and negative) on a client s
progress. They emphasized that this article only scratched the surface on the topic

said case examples and reflective accounts could spark further dialogue. Regardless,
they have brought the issue to the community in one of the AASP s journals and now

Trauma And Stressor Related Disorder
In the DSM 5, PTSD is listed under Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders. In
order for a person to be diagnosed with PTSD, they must meet a number of criterion
the first one being exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual
violence. If the person does not meet this criterion, they are automatically exempt
from being diagnosed with PTSD. This alone is incredibly restrictive, ignoring many
groups of traumatized victims including those with psychiatric diagnosis, or those
being removed from their home. Though many people can benefit from the
treatments associated with PTSD, its two dimensionality, or lack of reference to
ongoing exposure has created a want for a new diagnosis in the trauma realm.

In creating the opportunity for more individuals to be diagnosed with a post traumatic
syndrome, C PTSD creates a dignified title for individuals who have already endured
so much. Victims of childhood trauma account for a portion of this group. Abused
children have to undergo a series of adaptations in order to experience self
preservation. The three major forms of adaptation include elaboration of dissociative
defenses, development of fragmented identity, and pathological regulation of
emotional states. When a child falls prey to an abuser, they cannot form inner
representations of safety. Not only do they become attached to strangers, but they
also cling to their abusers. During this time, Herman refers to fragmentation as
becoming the central principle of personality organization . Normal regulations of
emotional states are also disrupted, resulting in dysphoria, chronic anxiety, and
chronic depression which can last into adulthood. Normal regulations of emotional
states are also affected by the elaboration of dissociative defenses. When an individual
becomes too accustomed to using dissociation as a defense mechanism, they can
experience something referred to as annihilation panic . When annihilation panic
ensues, only extreme shocks to the system (such as self mutilation) can help them
separate themselves from dissociation. Though these adaptations are crucial for

I chose this song because it is about an individual facing troubles and wanting to be
free, perhaps from racial oppression as expressed in the book I Know Why the Caged
Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. The book describes how Maya turns to poetry as a
source of freedom, due to its inability to fly. Caged Bird suggests that freedom and
joy is found through song. Through the words, Alicia Keys refers to herself as the
bird so that she can engage the listener. She does this by putting herself in the shoes
of the caged bird, saying I feel like a bird, caged without a key . She takes on the
role of the bird, describing the way people look at her as if she was an animal
locked in a cage. She informs the listener that she understands the drive of the
caged bird because she experiences the same problem. In the second portion of
song, she leads the listener to believe that the bird isnt her. Alicia also uses she
which suggests that more individuals are involved rather than just one person. The
song uses the caged bird as the common connection between these individuals. The
second song is Black or White by Michael Jackson. I chose this song because it is
about racial equality and an individual attempt to mend race relations. This song is
saying that it doesn t matter what color your skin is or what ethnicity or race you
are, we are all the same. Michael also mentions that the world should be about
equality and not about judging people by their skin color. He sings and I told about

The Road By Cormac Mccarthy
The Man, The Boy, and the remains of a dead world are the only constants the
reader will know as they make their journey down The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
The novel tells a story of the nameless protagonists as they traverse through a post
apocalyptic land in an attempt to reach the warm coast before winter. McCarthy s
story also covers many dark and heavy topics primarily death. He has said himself
that death especially is a major issue in the world, and that writers who do not
address it are not serious. As a manof his word, McCarthy has written The Road with
imagery and metaphor alluding to how death stays as a heavy presence even after it
has done its work. The book s dystopia is a result of all of the worst faults of
humanity,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
McCarthy also tends to avoid any assignment of speech; one does not know who is
speaking because McCarthy has explicitly written that The Boy or The Man has said
it, if the reader cannot understand who is saying what then the writer has not done
their job. He sees no need for complex and elaborate constructions of literature when
words on their own can be simple yet profound in delivery in messages. I specifically
chose to read this book because McCarthy is the opposite of myself. I thoroughly
respect this ability in him. While I might find other authors like Poe who do the
(stark) opposite to be more entertaining, I cannot deny that there is something so
remarkable about an author who can manage something so beautiful and direct naked
writing. It demonstrates the depth of thought and careful consideration that went into
each word.
McCarthy s approach to storytelling, simple yet definitive, conveys far more than
what is printed on paper. Therefore, it is unsurprising that the use of metaphor within
descriptions of setting does the same. Many times throughout the story are trees
mentioned. At first, the frequency may seem peculiar it is always yellowing dead
trees that are mentioned, and this initially serves to reveal to the reader that an
unknown apocalypse has basically killed the earth and most of its flora. However,
the constant presence of the dead trees is also a reminder that even though death has
come and gone the skeletons it leaves behind will
Julius Caesar Musical Analysis
1.In Act Two Scene One, the group of people who have decided to assassinate
Caesar meet up with Brutus to convince him to join their group, the conspiracy, one
more time. During this scene, I would play Wine Dark Sea (Symphony for Band): I.
Hubris, by the 2017 North Texas Wind Symphony (John Mackey). This movement of
the song is a great portrayal of the scene because Cassius, the leader of the conspiracy,
along with the rest of the conspirators are attempting to persuade Brutus, the
protagonist, to join them in the plot to kill Brutus best friend, Julius Caesar. The
aspects of the music differ greatly, magnificently portraying the energy of the
scene. The music has changes in dynamics, along with solos and solis, or groups
of performers playing as an ensemble, that act as the voices of the conspirators that
all jump in, agreeing with Cassius, to further persuade Brutus. This piece would
begin to play during the stage direction that states, Enter the conspirators:
CASSIUS, CASCA, DECIUS, CINNA, METELLUS, and TREBONIUS (2.1.87sd).
During the lines following this stage direction there are larger, one person said lines
followed by smaller lines that are vaguely announced by the other conspirators.
Similarly, in the movement, there are a few melodious sections played mainly by
one instrument group at a louder dynamic, followed by a counter melody played by
the entire band.
2.In Act Two Scene Two, a series of bad omens appear throughout the setting of the
play and even in Caesar s wife s dream. Calpurnia, Caesar s wife, has a horrible
dream showing her an image of her husband s statue with one hundred wounds
spewing blood as the people of Rome wash their hands in his blood (2.2.80 87). A
series of other bad omens occurred, including a lion walking in the capitol, an owl
out in the daytime, and the dead rising from their graves. During this scene, I would
play Foundry, performed by the 2017 North Texas Wind Symphony (John Mackey).
During this piece, the low and middle bass sections have the main foundational
rhythms while the upper woodwinds and brass have the main melody, and the
percussion section is beating on metal objects like they re in a factory. The overall
feeling of this piece is hectic, and loud;
Farm Transition
As children, my grandfather offered my brother and me a job on his farm. He took
the time to employ us for many reasons: cheap labor mainly. However, for us, this
opportunity offered much more. It gave us a source of income, character growth,
experience, and most of all it gave us perspective. From about the fourth grade all
the way up to the seventh, I spent my summers toiling on that one twenty acre piece
of land. Many of the experiences that I have there play a significant role in who I am
today. Over the four summers, I watched my grandfather s farmtransition from

This experience was one of the most physically demanding I have ever completed.
One of the workers sat in the skid steer that had the auger attachment on it and dug
the holes in front of us. Another one sat in the work cart that held the post and
followed the skid steer placing posts at each hole. My brother and I followed
behind them. We each carried a spud bar, a seventeen pound bar with one flat
circle end that is about three inches in diameter, and a shovel. We made a
competition out of who could sturdily place their post the fastest. Each post took
about eight minutes, after figuring out the best way to do it. With every post I
managed to put into the ground, I grew tired and hot. The sun burned down on us;
my arms had begun to feel weak, I was two post behind my brother. I remained like
that for the remained of the day. By the end of the week, we had placed over five
hundred fence post. My body ached, and my hands had blisters covering them.
Though I whined, I knew that had grown for this burden. My grandfather s farm
theoretically made me who I am. These tasks put me through adversity. They tested
me in ways no other experiences would: challenging my ability to persevere. I
developed morals and values that have stay with me. One of such being the value of
hard work. Up until these tasks, I had not fully understood where hard work could get
The Illusion Of The American Dream In The Great Gatsby
The Illusion of the American Dream
If you don t get what you want, you suffer; if you get what you don t want, you
suffer; even when you get exactly what you want, you still suffer because you can t
hold on to it forever. is a quote written by Dan Millman. It explains the reality of the
image we have in our minds of what we truly want and no matter what differences
we have, we all suffer through the illusions we have called dreams. Ideally, In The
Great Gatsby, by F.Scott Fitzgerald, the American Dream is the idea of an illusion
because the more you achieve, the more you desire, making your dreams unattainable.
The American Dream is one of the primary topics in the novel, but is not an
achievable platform for most to all of the characters. ... Show more content on

To start off, Gatsby s dream made him do extraordinary schemes like bootlegging
to achieve high financial status. This is shown when Gatsby mentions to Tom
about inheriting money, Oh, I ve been in several things, he corrected himself. I
was in the drug business and then I was in the oil business. But I m not in either
one now . (Fitzgerald, 87) This quote shows us that Gatsby had wanted his dream
so bad that he involved himself with illegal situations to earn the money. Moving
on, it corrupted the characters inner selves. The characters were very greedy and
only cared for themselves. A saying We get a little greedy, and want more than we
need describes Tom and Daisy because they had already had everything they
needed, but they only wanted more and they knew they couldn t find love since
Tom kept had affairs and they had a daughter to take care of. Not only that, but Tom
and Daisy corrupt lives of other characters like Gatsby. He was not involved in the
incident with Myrtle, but Daisy being her selfish, self puts the burden on him which
corrupts his life and their own lives. Lastly, Myrtle just like Gatsby does wrong
doings to lead to her American Dream. An article by Kurapati states, She thinks that
by associating with Tom Buchanan, and buying expensive things for her apartment,
she is rising in class. A
Cell Membranes Of Proteins And Proteins Essay
Chapter One Introduction
Cell membranes of eukaryotes are complex in structure, comprised of a highly
regulated heterologous distribution of lipids and proteins (Hanada, 2010). This
distribution is determined to some extent by the location and topology of lipid
synthases, and results from the trafficking of proteins and lipids (Hanada, 2010).
Within the cell, transport vesicles and tubules mediate trafficking by loading desired
sets of proteins at one organelle and delivering them to the next (Hanada, 2010;
Kumagai et al., 2005). Lipid influx routes such as the endocytosis of membrane
lipids add further to the diversity (Hanada, 2010). The result is an asymmetric
distribution of protein and lipid types across the membrane phospholipid bilayer
(Hanada, 2010).
Ceramides are an example of a family of cellular lipids found in the cell membrane
(Yasuda et al., 2001). Ceramides are synthesised at the endoplasmic reticulum from
precursor compounds and are transported to the Golgi apparatus for conversion into
one of several sphingolipids (Yasuda et al., 2001). The transport of such compounds
is highly selective if not specific (Kumagai et al., 2005; Yasuda et al., 2001).
Inhibiting transport is a useful tool in investigating the role of substrates (Yasuda et
al., 2001) and makes an attractive target for biochemical manipulation of the cell
(Ueno et al., 2001).
Intracellular trafficking of ceramides is highly regulated. Two ceramidetransport
pathways have been identified

  • 2. The Merode Altarpiece By Robert Campin Robert Campin was one of the earliest masters of Flemish painting and is also considered to be one of the founders of the realistic style of oil painting in the Netherlands. His most famous painting is The Merode Altarpiece; it is oil on wood and is believed to have been made from 1427 1432. Campin had help on the Merode Altarpiece from Rogier van de Weyden and Jacques Daret. The Merode Altarpiece is also known as the Annunciation, which is when the archangel Gabriel came to tell Mary that she would be the mother of Jesus. What really captured my attention about this painting is the way in which it portrays three different scenes, yet manages to connect them all together. Campin made each of these scenes very detailed, and each scene has

It started when England thought they were in danger of being overwhelmed by the poor. While some thought that the New World as being the dream of an American empire other saw it as a place for England s unwanted. England started sending criminals to the New World instead of jail, because they thought it would help them become better men. In 2012 U.S. exports of services exceeded U.S. imports of services by $196 billion. Efficient production of various goods requires different technologies and certain endowments of resources, and not all nations have the same level of technological expertise and resources (McConnell, 2015). Trade deals allow countries to benefit from the technology and resources of other countries. Nursing in particular is a career in which would have serious trouble surviving if the people going into the field refused to develop their own communication skills. These communication skills are often overlooked by many people because they don t understand the concepts and levels that go into it. Nonverbal communicationis more than just sign language, it has 3 different and distinct levels to categorize it, the three being: physical appearance, kinesics, and artifacts. Another extremely important aspect of communication is paralanguage or vocalics which are a form of verbal communication, it helps to modify the meanings of verbal messages. Both of these concepts in communication are used daily by nurses to solve problems and communicate with their patients and coworkers. Nonverbal communication has ten different channels that are used to categorize it: body kinesics, facial expressions, eye contact, space (proxemics), artifacts, touch (hepatics), para language, silence, time, and smell. Many of these channels contain their own sub channel that contains a unique set of channels used to categorize aspects of the main channel. Nannies often have to personalize their service to accommodate the needs of different children, and by doing so, they accumulate both directly and indirectly an extensive knowledge about the people they work for. But to keep professionalism, they often do not disclose much about their own personal lives and because nannies are often employed by those who are relatively wealthy, there is also a class distance. Bearman reveals that there is an inconsistency in the relationship between doormen and tenants because on a socioeconomic level, tenants are often from a higher status, thus creating an apparent class difference. But in order for doormen to deliver professional service, they must pay attention to tenants specific lifestyles and tenants themselves often unknowingly train doormen by letting their preferences be known either implicitly or explicitly. Such interaction bridges the distance since doormen develop a rather intimate knowledge about and a personal closeness with the tenants. An alternative explanation that could explain why doormen and tenants have a conflicting relationship is that social distance is always perceived because it is ingrained by societal norms, but it contradicts with a closeness that is actually tangible. There is an indelible mindset influenced by social standards that when an individual works for another person, especially for monetary pay, the inherent

It is created and recreated in contrast to other forms of knowledge. In every situation, where scientists talk about science, specific attributes are selected to counter them to non scientific knowledge forms. A particular form of science is built up in every context, where it is talked about science, and also a contrast to that one, which defines in this context what science is not. (Gieryn, 1983) Analysis of the content of these ideologies suggests that science is no single thing: characteristics attributed to science vary widely depending upon the specific intellectual or professional activity designated as nonscience , and upon particular goals of the boundary work. The boundaries of science are ambiguous, flexible, historically changing, contextually variable, internally inconsistent, and sometimes disputed. • 26. Othello as a Tragic Hero Essay Othello is a tragic hero because of his greatnesses and his weaknesses. He is a noble man who possesses all the qualities of a military leader, which he is. He has control over himself and shows courage as well as dignity. Just as Othello is a virtuous man there are some flaws within him, these flaws complete him ff as a tragic hero. Othellois often blinded by trust and can not see a person for who they really are. He trusts the people around him even when they mean to afflict harm upon him. Through this, it can be seen why Othello is one of the most tragic hero out of all the characters from Shakespeare s many plays. Othello neither yells nor screams, but explains in a way that captivates his audience and enhances the emotions in the play. Aside from the greatnesses there also are some flaws. With Othello being a military leader for most of his life, trusting another military friend would be common and therefore Othello had no reason to not trust iago. So it can be said that Othello has tragic weaknesses, one being too trustworthy. Many times Othello does not see the evil acts of iago. He is used to dealing with military people on the battlefield, where you put your life in the hands of others. In this situation trust is very important. Othello says that iago is a man of honor and trust and therefore has no reason to doubt his honesty. Likewise another weakness of Othello s would be that he is a man who gets confused easily and cannot judge right from wrong. This can be seen when

From visual effects to the story telling, society has taken up a completely new form of television that has impacted many viewers. When The Walking Dead came out, it brought out a side to television shows that had never been seen before; it started out as another television show but it turned into something bigger. It is something that viewers never want to end. The way these people had to live their lives brought a certain understanding of what would happen in a post apocalyptic scenario. The first one Tenga and Basset describe as the Terror Management Theory which details the factor of death and the toll it takes into a human s psych and then there is the Moral Foundation Theory which describes the moral options one must take in order to live (how far one is willing to go). Terror Management Theory posits that humans have developed elaborate psychological defenses to mitigate the potentially overwhelming anxiety engendered by the terrifying awareness of personal mortality. Attempts to suppress thoughts of death and to extend longevity are insufficient, but cultural worldviews provide comfort by offering the perception of an orderly, meaningful world and by defining the means through which individuals can literally or symbolically extend identity and existence. Terror Management Theory seems particularly applicable to the behavior of the characters in The Walking Dead , who live with the relentless threat of impending death. The theory also seems well suited for analyzing viewers reactions to the series, given their emotional attachment to and identification with its characters (Tenga, Basset). In other words, the theory states that for the audience to come to terms with death and the realization that they will eventually die, their sub conscious looks at the world as a

The Baroque period, from 1600 1750, was characterized by ornamented and extravagant pieces. Well known musicians, Bach and Handel, achieved recognition for their choral works during this time. The Classical period spanning from 1750 1825, differentiates from the Baroque period in that music employed strict and simple technique. At the peak of the Classical period, Mozart and Beethoven produced orchestral and instrumental works.

He was discussing the refugee crisis in Germany, his home country, and how it was necessary to accept them. As refugees enter a new country, many of them are scared and confused by being submerged in an unfamiliar culture. By comparing the refugee crisis in Europewith the highly populated refugee town of Clarkston, Georgia, the idea of accepting those different than ourselves becomes a duty, as humans make the movement towards being global citizens. There are two ways the originals respond to the newcomers, either by accepting or by denying them. Denying them seems to be the most common way, and according to Quelle is the easy way out. There are pressures from society to be less open , says Quelle. At first, people tend to be wary when accepting others. They figure that the newcomers should totally adopt all of the originals customs and forget about their own, which is unrealistic. In the town of Clarkston, a major issue the originals had was allowing the Fugees, a soccer team of refugees, to play in the park fields. The mayor s argument was that the fields were for baseball, although there were no baseball teams. The other less common way is accepting these refugees. When the originals accept the refugees, they show them how to get accustomed to the new culture. In Outcast United, Luma and Tracy helped out their refugee

In creating the opportunity for more individuals to be diagnosed with a post traumatic syndrome, C PTSD creates a dignified title for individuals who have already endured so much. Victims of childhood trauma account for a portion of this group. Abused children have to undergo a series of adaptations in order to experience self preservation. The three major forms of adaptation include elaboration of dissociative defenses, development of fragmented identity, and pathological regulation of emotional states. When a child falls prey to an abuser, they cannot form inner representations of safety. Not only do they become attached to strangers, but they also cling to their abusers. During this time, Herman refers to fragmentation as becoming the central principle of personality organization . Normal regulations of emotional states are also disrupted, resulting in dysphoria, chronic anxiety, and chronic depression which can last into adulthood. Normal regulations of emotional states are also affected by the elaboration of dissociative defenses. When an individual becomes too accustomed to using dissociation as a defense mechanism, they can experience something referred to as annihilation panic . When annihilation panic ensues, only extreme shocks to the system (such as self mutilation) can help them separate themselves from dissociation. Though these adaptations are crucial for

I specifically chose to read this book because McCarthy is the opposite of myself. I thoroughly respect this ability in him. While I might find other authors like Poe who do the (stark) opposite to be more entertaining, I cannot deny that there is something so remarkable about an author who can manage something so beautiful and direct naked writing. It demonstrates the depth of thought and careful consideration that went into each word. McCarthy s approach to storytelling, simple yet definitive, conveys far more than what is printed on paper. Therefore, it is unsurprising that the use of metaphor within descriptions of setting does the same. Many times throughout the story are trees mentioned. At first, the frequency may seem peculiar it is always yellowing dead trees that are mentioned, and this initially serves to reveal to the reader that an unknown apocalypse has basically killed the earth and most of its flora. Julius Caesar Musical Analysis 1.In Act Two Scene One, the group of people who have decided to assassinate Caesar meet up with Brutus to convince him to join their group, the conspiracy, one more time. During this scene, I would play Wine Dark Sea (Symphony for Band): I. Hubris, by the 2017 North Texas Wind Symphony (John Mackey). This movement of the song is a great portrayal of the scene because Cassius, the leader of the conspiracy, along with the rest of the conspirators are attempting to persuade Brutus, the protagonist, to join them in the plot to kill Brutus best friend, Julius Caesar. The aspects of the music differ greatly, magnificently portraying the energy of the scene. The music has changes in dynamics, along with solos and solis, or groups of performers playing as an ensemble, that act as the voices of the conspirators that all jump in, agreeing with Cassius, to further persuade Brutus. • 42. Cell Membranes Of Proteins And Proteins Essay Chapter One Introduction Cell membranes of eukaryotes are complex in structure, comprised of a highly regulated heterologous distribution of lipids and proteins (Hanada, 2010). This distribution is determined to some extent by the location and topology of lipid synthases, and results from the trafficking of proteins and lipids (Hanada, 2010). Within the cell, transport vesicles and tubules mediate trafficking by loading desired sets of proteins at one organelle and delivering them to the next (Hanada, 2010; Kumagai et al., 2005). Lipid influx routes such as the endocytosis of membrane lipids add further to the diversity (Hanada, 2010). The result is an asymmetric distribution of protein and lipid types across the membrane phospholipid bilayer (Hanada, 2010). Ceramides are an example of a family of cellular lipids found in the cell membrane (Yasuda et al., 2001). Ceramides are synthesised at the endoplasmic reticulum from precursor compounds and are transported to the Golgi apparatus for conversion into one of several sphingolipids (Yasuda et al., 2001). The transport of such compounds is highly selective if not specific (Kumagai et al., 2005; Yasuda et al., 2001). Inhibiting transport is a useful tool in investigating the role of substrates (Yasuda et al., 2001) and makes an attractive target for biochemical manipulation of the cell (Ueno et al., 2001). Intracellular trafficking of ceramides is highly regulated. Two ceramidetransport pathways have been identified
