Essay With Apa Format
Crafting an essay with APA format can be a challenging task that requires attention to detail,
precision, and a thorough understanding of the American Psychological Association's guidelines.
The APA format encompasses specific rules for citation, formatting, and referencing, making it
crucial for writers to navigate through a labyrinth of rules.
Firstly, one must grapple with the intricacies of in-text citations, ensuring that every borrowed
idea is appropriately acknowledged within the text. The correct placement of commas,
parentheses, and ampersands can become a source of frustration, as the slightest error can
compromise the integrity of the citation.
The challenge continues with the compilation of the reference page, where each cited source
must be listed alphabetically, following a predetermined format. The proper structuring of author
names, publication dates, and titles demands meticulous attention, as the slightest deviation from
the APA guidelines can lead to academic repercussions.
The essay's overall structure is not exempt from the rigorous APA standards. The title page,
abstract, and body of the essay must adhere to specific guidelines regarding font, spacing, and
alignment. Headings and subheadings must be appropriately formatted to ensure clarity and
adherence to the APA style.
Moreover, the APA format mandates a formal tone, adding another layer of complexity to the
writing process. Striking a balance between formality and clarity can be a delicate task, and
writers must navigate through the intricacies of academic expression.
In conclusion, writing an essay with APA format is no simple feat. It demands a keen eye for
detail, a deep understanding of the APA guidelines, and patience to navigate the intricate
landscape of citation and formatting. Despite the challenges, mastering the APA format is a
valuable skill for academic and professional success.

Essay On Roanoke
There are a multitude of mysteries in life, some greater than others. Some
mysteries are solvable, and some we can only create solutions for in both well
made and sloppily built theories. America itself has had its fair share of mysteries,
some bigger than others, but by far one of the oldest may be the mysterious
conditions surrounding the lost colony of roanoke. In current day North Carolina
resides a series of small island; and within this cluster of islands lives Roanoke. It s
name comes from the very mystery that haunts the place, Roanoke Colony. Almost
500 years ago, 100 or so men, women, and children disappeared somewhere over
the course of 3 years. Among these colonists were Eleanor Dare and her daughter,
the first english child to be born in what would be modern day... Show more content

The second colony fell under the same circumstances, though the hostility between
the colonists and natives was more strained. When the third expedition finally came
around, it was led not by Sir Walter Raleigh, but instead by english artist John White
( Ancient Origins.net; Encyclopediavirginia.org ). It was at this point the tensions
between the colonists and the natives relaxed enough for relatively friendly
communications to begin. The hostility fell away when it was realized that White
had brought along not only male colonists, but women and children, including his
daughter Eleanor Dare and her husband, Annaise Dare. Her child, Virginia Dare, was
the first english child born in the americas ( history.com ). With their relations
greatly improving with local natives, it seemed as though the english colony of
Roanoke was faring much better than its predecessors. Unfortunately, not unlike the
previous colonies, they began to suffer from a severe lack of resources. In the year
1587, John White left Roanoke and sailed back to england in hopes of returning with
more supplies. His departure, however, occurred during a
Questions On Deep Learning Technique Essay
1.4.3Deep Learning Technique
Machine Learning at its most basic is the practice of using algorithms to parse data,
learn from it, and then make a determination or prediction about something in the
world. So rather than hand coding software routines with a specific set of instructions
to accomplish a particular task, the machine is trained using large amounts of data
and algorithms that give it the ability to learn how to perform the task [12]. Deep
learning is another Machine Learning (ML) algorithm. Deep learning is essentially
a set of techniques that help you to parameterize deep neural network structures,
neural networks with many, many layers and parameters. Deep Learning breaks
down tasks in ways that makes all kinds of machine assists seem possible, even
likely. The confusion matrix, in Figure 8 shows that the accuracy of this model is
(90.80) with weighted average precision (91.37) greater than recall (91.11) and F1
score (91.24). From the above results, it appears that Deep Learning classifier

Analysis Of The Book The Joy Luck Club

Reconciliation
Swan feathers. Hopes and dreams. Broken relationships and healing. Though these
concepts might initially appear incongruous, they are all depicted in the book The
Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan and The Joy Luck Clubfilm directed by Wayne Wang.
Both modes of interpretation show how the mothers help their daughters solve their
problems by explaining the formers pasts. However, while the book leaves each of
the daughters stories open ended, the film boldly creates a happy ever after ending
for the daughters. In both the movie and book, there are powerful bonds between the
mothers and daughters. As shown by these examples, there are many similarities as
well as differences between the movie and the book The Joy Luck Club, but both
mediums ultimately seek to portray the same themes.
To begin with, many events in the film are similar to those in the book. For example,
toward the beginning of both the book and the film, the mothers are astonished when
June reveals to them that she does not know what to say to her sisters about her
deceased mother, Suyuan Woo. In the book, the mothers frantically list out what
qualities of her mother June should tell her sisters, such as her mother s kindness...
smartness... dutiful nature to family... hopes, things that matter to her... the excellent
dishes she cooked... (Tan 31). Just so in the movie, during the same scene, the
mothers appear
The Rise Of The Qing Dynasty
During the years 1851 1866 there was massive civil war, or as some would consider
it, a rebellion in China. This period of turmoil was not only the most destructive war
of the nineteenth century, but likely the bloodiest civil war of all time. (Platt, 2012)
The ruling government was the Qing dynasty, who had been in power since the mid
1600 s. There were widespread problems throughout the country including natural
disasters such as droughts, famines, and floods. (Robert Worden, 1988) There were a
substantial number of lower class citizens who were unhappy with their living
conditions and with the Manchu rulers of the Qing dynasty. There was a large gap in
economic status between the lower class and the wealthy members of the
government. This social tension along with Chinabeing defeated militarily by France
and Britain lead to a citizen uprising in the region of south China. Known as the
Taiping Rebellion, this large scale revolt was fought in an attempt to create a new
Han Chinesedynasty that would unite Christianity and Confucianism. (Black, 2013)
The Taiping Rebellion impacted Chinese history in two main ways: the Chinese
lower class learned to fight for social change, which lead to other rebellions, and, at
the same time, the war showcased the Chinese government s intolerance for and
ability to thwart societal change. The first main impact the rebellion had on Chinese
history was that the Chinese people, who were possibility influence by the American

The Battle Of The River
The river was an important avenue of approach for the Union army to reach and
gain control of Vicksburg. The Loess Bluffs bordering the Mississippi River
provided excellent observation positions for Confederate artillery to fire upon any
enemy approaching via the river. Ships were particularly vulnerable to their fire
because of an oxbow north of the city s waterfront where ships were forced to slow
down to make the treacherous turn. The river approach afforded no opportunities for
cover and concealment.
The Confederate positions at Fort Hill and South Fort had clear fields of fire
regarding approaching gunboats that afforded them a great advantage.
The oxbow proved a challenging obstacle for Union approach, and was considered
in the design and placement of artillery positions by the Confederates at Fort Hill
and the river batteries along the waterfront. The Confederates placed additional
obstacles in the form of explosive mines within the waters of the river and canal to
the north and south of the city. The U.S.S. Cairo sunk in the Yazoo River Canal due
to one of these mines during the winter of 1862 while on a mission to clear the river
of mines and rid the channel of Confederate batteries. The city of Vicksburgin itself
was the key terrain. This fortified city was positioned to protect the Mississippi River,
and without taking Vicksburg...the outcome of the Civil War would have completely
different.

Analyzing Satire and Parody in Blazing Saddles
No one is born a racist bigot. In other words, racial bigotry or racial prejudice is not
genetically or biologically determined... Therefore, if most people spoke out about
racism, it would be the first step towards a revolutionary change. Dr. Charles Quist
Adade Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles, sheds light to the cultural problems of the
Western era through satire with elements of parody within. John Vogel describes
Blazing Saddles as The Ultimate Western Spoof. The problem of racism is the
main focus of this film. If one takes a closer look at the work of Mel Brooks, there
is a noticeable trend of his films pointing fingers at racists. In order to better

Some of the features that are to become key elements of the genre are to be found in
early silent Westerns from the late 1890s and early 1900s (Westerns). Since this time,
many of the famous films have become household names. For some people, the
reason they have been introduced to this film genre is because of their grandparents
or parents. For others, they may have a genuine interest to understand this culture that
has transformed itself to fit with a new era of time. Although these films have been
able to generate great amounts of revenue, they are full of underlying elements that
show the cultural issues of that time period. Moreover, some of these elements may
not be noticeable to everyone at first, but that is where the satire and parody come
into play.
Satire is a technique employed by writers to expose and criticize foolishness and
corruption of an individual or a society by using humor, irony, exaggeration or
ridicule. It intends to improve humanity by criticizing its follies1 and foibles2. A
writer may point satire

Foreword
This little volume (the result of meditation and experience) is not intended as an
exhaustive treatise on the much written upon subject of the power of thought. It is
suggestive rather than explanatory, its object being to stimulate men and women to
the discovery and perception of the truth that
They themselves are makers of themselves
by virtue of the thoughts which they choose and encourage; that mind is the master
weaver, both of the inner garment of character and the outer garment of circumstance,
and that, as they may have hitherto woven in ignorance and pain they may now
weave in enlightenment and happiness.

Such is the conscious master, and man can only thus become by discovering within
himself the laws of thought; which discovery is totally a matter of application, self
analysis, and experience.
Only by much searching and mining are gold an diamonds obtained, and man can
find every truth connected with his being if he will dig deep into the mine of his
soul. And that he is the maker of his character, the molder of his life, and the builder
of his destiny, he may unerringly prove: if he will watch, control, and alter his
thoughts, tracing their effects upon himself, upon others, and upon his life and
circumstances; if he will link cause and effect by patient practice and investigation,
utilizing his every experience, even to the most trivial, as a means of obtaining that
knowledge of himself. In this direction, as in no other, is the law absolute that He
that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened ; for only by
patience, practice, and ceaseless importunity can a man enter the Door of the Temple
of Knowledge.

Effect of Thought on Circumstances
A man s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or

Standardized Test Scores An Accurate Representation Of A...
Are standardized test scores an accurate representation of a student s abilities?
Standardized tests can be found at any level of a student s academic career, but are
they accurate indicators of a student s academic abilities? Standardized tests are used
to measure a student s academic abilities, and overall knowledge. In theory, a student
s skills can be determined by examining the limited data collected from the test.
However, standardized test do not fully represent a student s abilities, and cumulative
knowledge. Many factors may affect the validity of the scores, and the accuracy of
the assessment. Instructor s teaching directly for the test, being able to guess on
multiple choice questions, examining only test scores, and ignoring other academic
factors contribute to the biased representation of students academic abilities.
Because instructors are teaching directly for the test, the data collected may not be an
accurate representation of the student s true abilities. As standardized test grow in
popularity among the school system, the pressure to achieve high scores rapidly
builds. The importance of high scores goes beyond individual students performances,
and teacher evaluations. Serious repercussions could result from poor scores, or
performances. For example, schools that continue to fail to improve may be closed,
and districts that continue to fail may be subject to state takeover (Posner). With the
weight of the success of the school on their shoulders,
Blue Winds Dancing By Tom Whitecloud
Search for Self in Blue Winds Dancing
Blue Winds Dancing by author Tom Whitecloud, is narrated by the story s unnamed
main character. The young Indian man s persona is brought to life through his own
recollection and spoken words. We recognize the turmoil this character faces as he is
away from his people, attending college in White man s society. He doubts his place
in either world, believes he must choose between them, and realizes finally that being
an Indian is only one part of who he is. Through his thoughts, actions and words we
gain understanding of this character s attitudes of confusion and inferiority in his
struggle to define his niche in society.
The character s feelings of not belonging are represented in his ... Show more content

It seems as though I were among people I have never seen before (122) are his words
as he enters the lodge where they have gathered to celebrate Christmas.
The character shows definite signs of bitterness toward White men and their
attitude of superiority. He scoffs at the organization of their society and calls it a
beauty of captivity (119). A mere existence where freedom and individuality have
given way to a life of dictated regulation. Here where all the orange trees line in
military rows, and endlessly bear fruit (119). The young man does not want to be
another orange tree whose life is decided by the conforming ways of their society,
dancing to the strings of custom and tradition (119).
What then is he striving for? He tells us of the beauty and calm of his homeland, and
how much he desires to be back among his people and the simplicity and freedom
of their lifestyle, but he is also angry that his people are forced to live such a
menial existence. I feel suddenly angry that my people should have to do such
things for a living (120). This is what is at the core of his struggle, the supposition
that he has to choose between living as an inferior Indian with their freedoms, or
parallel the rigid, dictated life that he feels the white men live. It is the reason he
feels alone among the pines.
It is after talking to some hobos and bums on the train that that the young man starts
to realize what his sociology professor was trying to tell
Use Of Diction And Its Effects On Adult Men With Erectile...
Sildenafil, or more commonly known as VIAGRA, is a medication that is geared
towards adult men with erectile dysfunction, abbreviated ED (Medicines EMC). It is
stated that about 30 million men in the United States suffer from ED (Viagra). In
Viagra commercials and advertisements, blunt diction is utilized to highlight the
common insecurities of men, which creates this idea that in order to fulfill one s
manliness, then an individual would have to take Viagra. In this particular
advertisement, I noticed key ploys to entice a mansufferingfrom ED to take Viagra as
a means by using a bold selection of diction, a paradise getaway background seen
from a cabana, and an inviting, seductive woman.
In the advertisement, the audience may first notice the blue text in the upper left
corner that reads, Gentlemen: VIAGRA helps guys with ED get and keep an
erection. The text is light blue, which is the same color as the pill, to indicate that
this product is targeted towards males. The use of diction in this advertisement is
straight forward with strong connotation. It blatantly states what the product does.
This could instill the idea that the product is confident and a guaranteed investment,
thus making the consumer believe that it may help with his sex life. Viagra may
also be intentionally bolded as a connection to what the product is intended to do.
The text looks bigger and bolder and the product s purpose is to make a male
suffering from ED to become bigger and bolder. This
The Forest Of The Rumpi Hills
The forests of the Rumpi Hills also contain what is commonly referred to as the
Rumpi Hills Forest Reserve or previously known as the Rumpi Hills Native
Administration Forest Reserve created by Forestry Ordinance No 38 of 1937 and
approved by Forestry Ordinance No 16756/79 of 2nd July, 1941 (SWPA, 2016).
The North Boundary is the road from Lipenja Mukete through Ikoi and Dikome
Ngolo to Madie; the South Boundary goes through Nalende, Monyange, Itoki and
Ilor to Moko. Whereas the East Boundary, goes through Dikome Balue, Mofako,
Itende to Bisoro; the West Boundary goes through Dibonda and Ndian and Ituka to
Lipenja which is also the starting point of the reserve (SWPA, 2016). These
boundaries give the Rumpi Hills ForestReserve a characteristic inverted letter C shape
and structure, see figure 7.
The reserve is composed of land belonging to the Ngolo, Bima and Balue tribes, the
first two form part of the North West while the latter, forms part of the South East
area. Most of the villages are on top of the hills, so that, a more or less vertical climb
of anything up to 400 meters has to be faced before reaching a village or settlement.
The proposal that, part of the Rumpi Hills forests should be made a forest reserve
was first made by Mr Rosevear in a memorandum written in 1933 on the potential
forest reserves of the Kumba Division, Cameroon (SWPA, 2016). The actual
preliminary survey of the area was done by Mr F.S Collier in 1937, after a tour round

On July 04, 2015 at approximately 9:04PM I, Deputy Bowring, was doing extra
patrol on Lake Holbrook for the amount of people on the lake for the holidays. On
County Road 2265 in Mineola, Texas, I observed a Black Jeep SUV coming
towards me and a female subject was driving. I observed the female slightly
slumped behind the steering wheel of the vehicle and not wearing a seatbelt as I
passed by. I then initiated my emergency lights on my patrol vehicle in attempt to
pull the female subject over. The female subject continued to drive for some distance
before a witness step out in the road in attempt to help stop the female subject. The
witness reached inside the female s vehicle and turned the ignition off before I exited
my patrol vehicle.
Analysis Of The Large Blue Horse And The Fighting Rhino
The Large Blue Horse and the Fighting Rhino and Four Horses While visibly
observing both Fighting Rhino and Blue Horses, one can clearly see that both
portraits of the content of the imagery consists of animals, specifically Horses.
Blue Horses, depicts three vividly colored blue horses looking down in front of a
landscape of rolling red hills, is characterized by its bright primary colors and a
portrayal that simplicity, and a profound sense of emotion. While, Fighting Rhino
and Horses consists of red, with a few black engraved animals. According to
Visiualartscork.com , In the deeper part, the animals are mostly black, with far
fewer rock engravings and red figures. There are groupings and features of specific
animals consisting of the usual horses, bison, aurochs, ibex, reindeer, red deer and
musk oxen. Another similarity between the two portraits is that, respectively both
artists seemed to have had a certain fondness and love for animals. Whether that is
something contributed from their culture or personal interest, it also exhibits both
artists sensitivity towards nature. The two portraits also fall into the category known
as Abstract Art. However, some few differences that is presented, is that both
portraits are made from two different people of two different backgrounds, and eras.
Blue Horses, made by artist Franz Marcin 1911, while Fighting Rhino was estimated
to have been created in 30,000 BC with an unknown artist. Another difference, is that
The Dehumanization Of People From Other Religions
The dehumanization of people from other religions is also an example of intolerance.
The treatment that Muslims received throughout the poem, is more intolerant than
tolerant, although there are a few times where the tolerance between the Christians
and Muslims can be seen. El Cid, takes from the Muslims without question. His
tactics for taking from them can be seen as inhuman as well as extremely violent. The
Muslims are also categorized with the cattle which demonstrates the level with which
the Christians thought of them as, He captured Moorish men and Moorish women,
and all the cattle being herded out (Pg.33). The intolerance is evident by this quote.

This generates the idea that the Christians created a negative depiction of the Muslim
people solely based on their religion and no other reasons. They only listen to the
voice of Christianity and all others are subordinate and need to be defeated. Religious
intolerance is not only depicted by El Cid. Hildegard also insinuates her intolerance
towards other religions as well. Hildegard s letter all show her reliance and praise on
God. Through her visions she is able to share his wisdom and knowledge of the
holy church. Her letter to Bernard of Clairvaux provides the beginning of her ideas
of intolerance. Bernard of Clairvaux was a leading supporter behind the Second
Crusade. The crusades are directly correlated to intolerance. Although, writing to him
does not necessarily suggest that she is intolerant towards other religions, the
statements that she says in her letter signify her support of the movement. In later
letters, she continues her appeal to the people she is writing too, that Christianity is
the religion that they must follow and she can help them with her visions. She
suggests to the people who seek her help, that God is the answer to all of their
problems. They can be saved through the power of God and she can help them
achieve the answers they are looking for since she has a connection with God.
Analysis of Robert ForstВґs Mending Wall Essay
Robert Frost deliberated a intention and was determined to get it across any way
that he could. He verbalized his feelings through Walls and Blockages, Descriptive
words, and Seasons and Nature. The aspiration of walls in this piece is to block
neighbors and assemble a better relationship. Descriptive words are used to portray
a improved visual of what is designed to see. Robert Frostspeaks of seasons as if it
were a human.
Wall s are blockages used to isolate a human beings wants and feelings. Privacy
should be respected by all although offensiveness was not intended by either

Robert Frost used a word choice that shaped the readers mind into the outdoor
scenery where the dog is on one side of the fence barking.
Robert Frost is a major nature enthusiast. In the poem, Mending Wall, the speaker
talks about the Spring. Taking a literal approach, he used Spring, because it is the
first season of the year. A new beginning for two people that have had a protracted
antagonism for one another. The speaker does not understand how they are becoming
good neighbors, because they are not cows. People often use nature to express new
beginnings and the start of something new.
Nature is a description of a Season. Seasons are the start of a new beginning. The
speaker uses the word Spring, possibly because it is the first official and whole
season of the year. The neighbor could be expressing how he thinks they should
break the wall down and start over. A new beginning is what he desires.
The speaker wants nothing but a friendship with his neighbor but the neighbor wants
the privacy that he feels he is entitled to. The speaker expresses how the neighbor is
a pine cone. Pine cones are hard and nettlesome. Pine cones are very arduous.
Attempting to express his feelings, the speaker could be referring to the neighbor as
a pine cone, because no matter how bad he tries, the neighbor will not break into
fragments.
The last word or phrase that Robert Frost expressed within the poem was cows. The
neighbor thinks it is ridiculous to have
Women In The Middle East
In the Middle East women have always been inferior to men. With the introduction
of Islam with the revelation of the Quran in 610 CE; women are considered equal to
men in the eyes of Allah but in society they remain inferior. This can be attributed to
local cultural practices that have been ingrained into society. As of recent years, there
has been a feminist push in the Middle Eastto gain more power in society. From the
golden age of the Middle East during the Umayyad Caliphate to present with the
many nations in the region today, the women have impacted the social, political,
economical, and culture of Middle Eastern society.

With the introduction of Islam to the Middle East during the Umayyad Caliphate
women were given more power than in pre Islamic Arabia. Islam introduced more
traditional marriage practices, when Muhammad only allowed polygamy if the
husband could support all of his wives without favoritism. Lastly, women played a
major role in recording and piecing together the Quran ( Islam, The Arab Empire
Of The Umayyads. ). With the expansion of the Islam in the Abbasid Caliphate to
parts of Asia with stricter gender roles, many practices during the Umayyad
Caliphate were adapted to limit the power of women. The Abbasid Caliphate is
where the stereotypes of mistreating women in Islamic culture were born with
practices such as, keeping women secluded from society and the reintroduction of
female infanticide after it was banned by Muhammad ( The Status of Women in
Islam During the Abbasid Empire. ). During the Abbasid Caliphate women went
from having limited autonomy to nearly becoming slaves that took care of a male s
family which was a product of forbidding them from leaving home without
supervision of a male and by taking away the ability to refuse or consent to marriage.
In the Ottoman Empire women were more powerful than anywhere else in the world
according to Lady Mary Wortley Montague ( TASTE OF THE PAST Women in
Ottoman Society. ). Women often
Lawrence Halprin Was A Landscape Architect And Land
Planner
Lawrence Halprin was a landscape architect and land planner whose concept of
including the elements of a natural environment in his many projects and the internal
design thought process that had him focus on how individuals interact within a
public space were the two major aspects that contributed to his success. He designed
his spaces to allow the visitors to not just pass though, but to exist in the space, and
feel as they have a choice in which way they go. Most of his projects were not an
attempt to replicate a natural environment, but rather he drew inspiration for
elements of design from nature itself. Halprin had a deep desire to improve the lives

He started his deign career with the landscape architect Thomas Church in San
Francisco, shortly after that in 1949 he opened his own design office (TCLF). All
of Halprin s designs have their root in nature or natural environments and how he
integrates these into his manmade spaces. He spent many hours walking through
the mountains, hills, valleys, and coastlines observing the natural elements that
make each one of these places unique. The key feature of many of Halprin s
projects included the use of water features, he would use these water features to
elicit the feeling of being in a natural environment rather than a man made one. In
addition to his astute incorporation of natural elements, his other focus was how
people interacted in a public space. His wife Anna was a dancer and choreographer
and inspired the basis for many of his landscape designs and the human interaction
of people in these spaces and how he could essentially choreograph how people
moved through the public spaces he designed (Halprin Landscape Conservancy).
He coined a new term, motation , this was the combination of motion and notation,
he would use this concept while plotting or choreographing how he wanted to have
people move through a particular space that he was in the process of designing
(TCLF). In addition to his extensive resume of landscapes he designed over his 60
year career, Halprin also authored 9 books and an award winning
Autism Journey Of The Unknown Essay
Autism the Journey of the Unknown:
For many centuries, countless individuals have had problems with numerous forms
of expression, such as communicating effectively, building relationship, or thinking
critically. These multiple forms of complications left their loved ones with an
unknown reason for their lack of interaction. It wasn t until recent years that a name
was finally given to classify the disorder these individuals possessed autism. Autism
is a mental condition, characterized by difficulty in communicating and forming
relationships with other people and in using language and abstract concepts (qtd.
in Young). The term first came about in the 1940s, when researchers used it to
describe children with emotional or social problems ( History ). Even though the
term first appeared in the 1940s, this disorder did not become prominent until
recent years. The rise in autism has been steady since it was first exposed to
society. Autism prevalence has increased from 1 in 5,000 in 1975 to 1 in 150 in

Violent Media Essay
Media plays a significant role in the United States. What first started as limited
information on paper has now transformed into endless amounts of news, data, and
entertainment that we can easily reach out of our pockets. Media has evolved into
two forms: print media which consists of magazines and newspapers, and there are
broadcast media which consists of television, radio, etc. Broadcasting media is now
considered the most prominent media outlet out of these two because it is used more
frequently, and it is more accessible than ever. Radio media, which started in 1920
with the invention of the radio channels and broadcasts, has now evolved into many
different forms like television, movies, video games, and the internet. A very
controversial and worrying topic for parents and guardians nowadays is the amount
of violencethat is now being used and broadcasted in media. Many people believe that
violent media is the main reason why there is youth violence in America. Violent
media doesn t precisely contribute to violent youth behavior because research shows
that even though the amount of violence in media has increased over the past years,
the number of youth homicides and violent events have decreased. There are also
broader factors that contribute to youth violence rather than violent media, like a
history of violent victimization, low parent involvement, and even living in socially
disorganized neighborhoods. And although violent media seems like a bad thing to be
Infant Colic
Before taking Child Development, I hadn t heard about Infant Colic. After
learning a little bit about it in class, I decided to do some research of my own on it.
An infant can be born healthy and well fed, but can cry for several hours a day,
several days a week due to them having Colic. There are some theories as to what
causes Colic. Some of the causes may be gas, growing digestive system, stomach
pains caused by hormones and babies becoming overstimulated and oversensitive
to light and noise. Your baby could have an infection, an irregular heartbeat,
stomach problems, or even increased eye pressure (WebMD). Babies can develop
Colic around the age of just two weeks old. Babies can be born full term and have
Colic. Colic can develop later if your infantwas born premature. Colic will go away
by itself around three to four months old. It doesn t matter what gender your baby
is or whether or not you breast fed or bottle fed them. They can still end up having
Colic anyways. Children who had Colic as infants will grow up to be like every
other kid who didn t have Colic. Parents may become confused in knowing whether
it is a normal cry because they need their diaper changed to them having Colic.
Infants who have Colic tend to have episodes of where they scream.... Show more

Find a type of bottle that can help reduce gas or create a small hole in the nipple of
the bottle. Sitting up while they eat can help reduce the amount of air into the

easily be calmed down by placing them on their back and turning the lights off,
giving them a pacifier, holding them under warm water for a while and even

Social Psychology And Sociology And Psychology
Social Psychology is a broad field that incorporates aspects of both the sciences of
Sociology and Psychology. This field of study is designed to help answer the
question as to why people display certain behaviors due to their interaction with
others. This field of study is very interesting due to its practicality, in regards to
real life demonstration, usage, and observation. In my life, I have held several jobs
that have been heavily influenced by the dynamics of those who were around me.
One job in particular was focused within the service industry; this ended with my
resignation due to the unfavorable circumstances that I encountered in the work
environment. Prior to making the decision to even apply for this job, I had been
hesitant due to former employees and peers, who had reported poor working
conditions. Despite the negative reviews that I had heard I went forward with my
application, enticed by the idea of making more than minimum wage and working in
an area close to my house. It was during this time period that I experienced one of the
terms that we had learned during our class, known as post decision cognitive
dissonance. Later I would experience firsthand the concept of stereotype threat and
conformity effect; both in a negative way, which would lead to my final resignation.
This paper will explain several key terms that have are essential to social psychology;
while also connecting them to a real life event that demonstrates their practicality in
usage.
Questions On The Free Will
The Free Will Problem presents three different theses that, upon first glance, seem
both intuitive and reasonable as long as they are considered independently. It is not
possible to entertain all three theses together while maintaining any level of
consistency. The problem, therefore, is in determining which of the three theses to
discard. The first thesis is the Free WillThesis, which simply states that agents
sometimes act freely. This thesis seems to be reasonable for at least two reasons.
The first reason is that, more often than not, we feel as though we are free; that is
we feel as though we make a choice based on what we want, whether it be after
careful consideration or merely on a whim. The very idea that we feel as though we...

The second thesis in the Free Will problem is the Causal Determinism Thesis, which
states that every event is causally determined to occur by another event; every
event has a cause. This thesis seems reasonable because it coincides with the way
in which we view the world, that being scientifically. Whenever an event occurs we
naturally think that something caused that event. Imagine a cup of water falling
over on a desk. It goes against our common sense to say that nothing caused the cup
of water to fall over, it just did. We may not always know what the cause is but we
do seem to think that a cause is necessary for the event to have happened and so far
science seems to support this conclusion.
The third thesis in the Free Will Problem is Incompatibilism Thesis, which states
that the Free Will Thesis and the Causal Determinism Thesis are incompatible with
one another; in other words, they are mutually exclusive. This thesis seems
reasonable due to the following: if we define free will as acting without a cause or
not being caused to act, and the Free Will Thesis says agents sometime act freely,
then anytime we, as agents, act freely, an event occurs that does not have a cause.
This is a direct violation of the Causal Determinism Thesis, which states that every
event must have a cause.
All three theses seem intuitively plausible but it is impossible to hold all three theses
together consistently. Choosing
Shonda Rhimes Roles In The Film Industry
Women in film production are not a rarity in today s Hollywood scene; however,
they have only begun emerging in recent years. There are many female producers
today, but only a few have had great, attributed successes. Throughout this research
and analysis paper, I will focus primarily on one successful producer who,
throughout her productions, addresses many intersection of life Shonda Rhimes. She
has successfully produced television shows such as Grey s Anatomy, How to Get
Away With Murder, and Scandal. She is also well known for her production company
ShondaLand ( Shonda Rhimes ). Throughout Hollywood women are facing the issue
of genderwithin filmproduction. At this time, only 25% of producers are female. In
2014, 33% of films had no... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As there are no real statistics on sexuality among film producers, and not many
statistics on sexuality in film period, there are not numbers to analyze, only facts and
people. While Shonda Rhimes identifies as a straight woman, married to a man, and
has children, there are other successful producers who identify differently. For
example, Ellen DeGeneres is a very famous producer, who even has her own show.
She openly identifies as a lesbian and has been married to Portia de Rossi since
2008, after California legalized unions between couples who identified as LGBT.
Ellen is also a strong advocate for LGBT rights ( Ellen DeGeneres ). Shonda uses
Grey s Anatomy as a platform to help support the LGBT community. Two very
important characters, Dr. Callie Torres and Dr. Arizona Robbins, identify as part of
the LGBT community, Torres as bisexual who was married to a man, then later met
Robbins, who identifies as a lesbian. LGBT issues have not been addressed much in
the film industry until recent years, with shows and films showing the hardships and
real life struggles of the LGBT community. As these issues are brought to light within
society, for example the legalization of gay marriage in all 50 states, I believe that
the film industry will become more transparent to these issues that affect an estimated
9 million people in the United States (Gates,
The United States Of America Essay
The United States of America is a nation conformed by immigrants from all around
the globe. This immigration matter is not new, because in the past there is evidence
that supports that early or primitive humans moved from one place to another in
tribes or groups to distant lands in the necessity of searching supplements of food,
water or shelter for their survival. Scientists and the Merriam Webster Dictionary
define this specific concept of displacement of people as nomad (merriam
webster.com).
Right after the fall of Hitler s Nazi Germany in World War II, the United Statesof
America became alongside with their counterpart, the U.R.S.S. (Russia), a rapid
escalating machine that helped the country to develop more rapidly and efficiently
in many fields such sciences, and the invention of the space shuttles were developed
to embark the human species into a new era of knowledge, and with a resurrected
strong economy that created a huge vacancy for more and more job opportunities,
made the country a real attractive deal for more people to go to American grounds
and establish themselves there.
The public enemy number one to the American society with the illegal Aliens is, that
the number of immigrants rise every year with no control, many Americans think that
immigrants will cause a drain in the economy and will contribute to the
impoverishment and high violence rates. However, 3 solutions are suggested in order
to avert any kind of violence and promote respect and equality.

Art And The Bible Summary
Art and the Bible, written by Francis A. Schaefer, is a short, simple to the point
book regarding how a Christian should approach art. The book is divided into two
sections. Section one is title Art in the Bible and section two is titled Some
Perspectives on Art. Section one gives examples of art within the scriptures. This
art includes things such as the patterns and details of the tabernacle and the temple,
King Solomon s throne, Jesus use of art, the poetry and music of David, other
music, drama and dance. Schaeffer concludes section one with a discussion on the
art detailed in the descriptions of Heaven. In section two, Schaeffer gives eleven
perspectives the Christian can use to consider and evaluate works of art (Schaeffer
50). The first and most important listed is A work of art has value in itself
(Schaeffer 50). This is followed by; Art forms add strength to the world view

Although, I have heard them before, when Schaeffer describe the details within
scripture, the beauty of it all really sunk in for me, more so with the temple and the
tabernacle, because these were details laid out by God himself. To really create a
mental image of what God had laid out for these structures is amazing. I found all
of the perspectives that Schaeffer lists to evaluate art very interesting. The one
perspective that really sparked my thinking was Christian art is by no means always
religious art (Schaeffer 88). Schaeffer explains how God created more than just
religious things during creation, such as flowers, birds, etc. and that these things are
worthy of being painted, photographed, wrote about, sung about, etc. Therefore, as a
Christian artist, every one of our works does not have to be religious in nature.
Everything in God s beautiful creation is worth creating art out
Inside Al Qaed International Counter Terrorism Expert...
INSIDE AL QAEDA
Rohan Gunaratna
New York: Columbia University Press, 2002, 272 pp.
International counter terrorism expert Rohan Gunaratna s book Inside Al Qaeda is
an analysis of leadership, ideology, structure and strategies, of the first multinational
terrorist group [1] of the twenty first century. Based on five years of research and
extensive interviews with over 200 militants, the book traces the genesis of al Qaeda
and its rise to prominence leading up to the September 2001 attacks on the World
Trade Center. Though Inside Al Qaeda has elicited effusive praise from the Western
media, some of the claims made by the author in this book had been widely
challenged by the Australian media, the Malaysian government and scholars. As for
the ordinary reader, Inside Al Qaeda may come across as a data dump [2] than a
comprehensive commentary on the subject.
The biographical sketches of Osama bin Laden and Sheikh Khalid Muhammad, the
key planner of the 9/11 attacks, is by far the strongest section of the book. A
detailed description of al Qaeda s networks across the Middle East, Europe, South
America and North America is another aspect that sets this book apart from other
literature on the subject. The book throws up new data about al Qaeda s global
networks quoting first hand interviews. For instance, Gunaratna gave a detailed
account of how the arrest of the twentieth hijacker Zaccarias Moussaoui affected the 9
/11 attacks [3] and how Hizballah operative Imad Mughniyeh

A third thing that I remembered seeing at the Philadelphia Art Museum was a big

wisdom, understanding and a selected intellect that must attain perfection in life. The
large mean that a perfect person is the one who listens to other and assimilates ideas.
And the four arms mean that the load is omnipresent and omnipotent. I am glad that

Stereotypes And Exploitation Of Gender Profiling
Abstract. Successful investigations of the process of gender embodiment must use
these three basic principles. First nature/nurture is indivisible. Second organisms
humans and otherwise are active processes, moving targets, from fertilization until
death. Third, no single academic or clinical discipline provides us with the true or
best way to understand human sexuality (Fausto Sterling, 2000) Throughout this
study I compared to of the largest toy brands in the world LEGOand Barbie, they are
both iconic pop culture symbols and were perfect for this paper. Researching
thoroughly the effects that negative stereotypes and exploitation of genderprofiling
can have. Through this investigation I believe it was found that attitudes towards
genders shift over time and as time goes by the attitudes towards women for
example in the work place have become more liberal. However there will always be
negative connotations around these matters as everyone s ideologies are different. It
is an interesting and important topic that everyone from all backgrounds, social
statues and ethnicities are part of yet it is a very multi layered and complicated topic
as there are so many factors that come into play.
Intro.
Gender is complex (Lippa, A R 1994) there are unlimited influences that affect each
and every one of us as we develop as human beings; we are all unique models,
shaped not only by our DNA but also by the physical and emotional environment in
which we find ourselves. It is
Epic Hero In Beowulf
He would sleep in the fire, soon. His soul, left his flesh, flew to glory. This very
quote from the epic Beowulf, sets the tone and very intense qualities of older epics.
This specific epic, focuses on the hero and Beowulf, who is the only warrior capable
of defeating the vicious villainous creature Grendel, and his mother. Beowulfshares
the qualities of many other epic heroes such as showing the nature of being almost
superhuman, being the deciding factor in the wellbeing of his people, and showing
uncontested bravery no matter the obstacle they must face. In more modern times,
the United StatesDelta Forcecan be considered an epic heroes based on the sheer
values and courage held by its members.
The United States 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta, or Delta Force
for short, is considered one of, if not the best, elite Special Forces units in the world.
Its highly classified missions, state of the art combat equipment, members from the
highest echelon special operations teams in the United States, and agonizing training
regime, etcetera, has put this unit on the top. Beowulf was considered the strongest
man or warrior in his time, trekking through the unknowns, journey s that felt like
they would never end, battles that seemed to last forever. It is assumed Beowulf can
even be considered near superhuman. The same can be said for Delta operators
whose training, selection, and missions are near impossible for the average person.

The No Child Left Behind Act
Traditionally, educators have been held to some degree of expectation regarding
student learning and increasing student aptitude; however, public expectations
increased to a new level as a result of the implementation of the No Child Left Behind
Act [NCLB] (2002). NCLB was passed to ensure educational equity and increased
academic achievement for all students. The legislation charged school district leaders
with holding schools accountable for alignment with national and/or state standards
that often mandated significant gains in student academic achievement, particularly
for low performing student populations, and that is measured by student performance
on high stakes tests. The test results created the data analyzed to design... Show more

Effective leadership has been identified as a critical component for guiding school
improvement; however, leaders who fail to establish a vision supported by thorough
analysis of student performance data will be unlikely to focus instructional changes
in critically needed areas.
The use of various types of technology, timely turn around of data reports, different
levels of access to data sets, time restrictions and insufficient technology skills
training (Lachat Smith, 2005; Marsh et al., 2006; Wayman et al., 2006; Wayman,
Jimerson, Cho, 2011) are conflicting variables that confound creation of a clear vision
and stable infrastructure for the implementation of sound technological practices.
Many technology related issues can contribute to confusion rather than focus on the
critical areas needing improvement.
Additional challenges with successfully examining multiple assessments include the
lack of skills, know how, and professional development for understanding the
implications of data results and the lack of guidance in developing timely and
appropriate responses for modifications in pedagogy (Wayman, 2005; Marsh et al.,
2006). Some researchers argue these are a direct consequence of data as a less than
significant part of school cultures (Ingram, Louis, Schroeder, 2004; Lachat Smith,
2005). Assessments are beneficial to provide a current review of
Migration Of Chinese Immigration
Chinese immigration is a current topic many scholars are talking about in research of
finding patterns and transformations among Chinese migration. Prior to World War II,
Chinese migration was strictly regulated and deeply connoted negative feelings
against Chinese immigrants, yet it did not influx the United States until the early
1880 s with the passing of the Chinese Exclusion Actin 1882. Chinese migration is
particularly important, because unlike European immigrants that travelled with
families, Chinese immigrants travelled alone resulting in the creating of bachelor
societies, or Chinatowns. After the U.S. initiated the quota system. Chinese migration
took a complete turn, and instead of having laborer migrate, it was the professionals
and students who sought migration to the U.S. That being said, Chinese immigrants
have faced constant discrimination and selectivity in their efforts to migrate to the
U.S.
Although, Chinese emigration is characterized by scholars under four main
categories; Hua shang (Trade pattern), Hua gong (coolie/labor migration), Hua qio
(soujorning), and Hua yi (re migration pattern), this essay will mainly focus around
the Hua gong, Huq qio, and briefly touch upon the Hua yi emigration patterns (Zhou
2017: Week 1). Hua shang emigration is characterized by strong social networks of
merchants and traders with purpose of trading in Southeast Asia without the intent of
resettling. The Hua gong pattern is the most common migration pattern because it
Cultural Aspects Of The Olympics
The various sports and countries competing in the Olympics have contributed to a
global culture including both the countries hosting the games and the countries
competing in the games. The Olympics first began in 1896, and since then have
intersected through dimensions of the economic, political, and cultural at the levels
of local, national, and increasingly more global communities (Close, 2010).
Therefore, the Olympic event is important to recognize due to the widespread effect
the competition has on political globalization for various countries throughout the
world, and the games remain relevant due to the fact that the games still persist today.
This paper will focus on the cultural aspects that the Olympic spectacle impacts in
terms of how culture is portrayed and transmitted from one country to another. This
paper will then take a closer look at the Beijing (China) Olympics of 2008 to
demonstrate how these cultural factors are employed and contribute to create a
global culture that is experienced throughout media viewing and interpersonal
interactions amongst various people throughout the world. To begin, sports are apart
of one s culture and the transmission of sports and unison of participation in sports
within the Olympics demonstrates the emission of cultures between various
countries. Richard Giulianotti describes this relationship by noting these events
engage diverse national societies in common cultural activities in the form of specific

Comcast Corporation s Merger With At T Broadband
Case 3 Comcast Corporation s Merger with AT T Broadband
Case Summary
The case study analysis the merger of Comcast and AT T broadband and the factors
that lead to it. The state of cable industry from 1996 is significant as the Telecom act
opened new frontiers for wireless and cable companies which were now vying
marketplace in both markets.
The study highlights AT T s efforts to become a leader in cable business. Their
acquisitions and nationwide presence made it an ideal company for Comcast to merge
with. The company in turn provided its capital to support during AT T s financially
lean period. The company allows plans to sort out problems with AT T s low profits.
Ultimately the governance and post integration strategies were a sign of concern as
AT T got major economic and voting power out of merger. The merged company had
the challenging task of improving services by managing technology and finance and
also establishing a new brand image.

As the Chief Financial Officer of Marysville General Hospital, I have informed the
hospital board members, that the accounts receivable has quickly approached the
100th day mark. The accounts receivable had crept from the 70 80 day range within
the past few months, which is greater than the average of 55 days. There are many
factors that could be a potential reason as to why the hospitalaccounts receivabledays
are rising, however, collectively the board members will create a plan of action that
will bring the accounts receivable days back in line. It will take cooperation from
everyone including the board members, medical staff, clinical departments, health
information management, business office, and many others. Therefore, each of these
departments will be involved in devising a solution to reduce the accounts receivable
crisis.
Before the proposal for a development plan for reducing accounts receivable, the
following departments are requested to submit a current report showing the status of
their departments. The departments are: admissions; registrations; chart
documentation; charge capture; claims processing; payment posting; secondary
billing and patient follow up. All of these reports will provide further insight as to
how each of the departments has performed, and contributed to the increase of
accounts receivable. Additionally, in reviewing these documents, the hospital will
analyze the collection data from the finance department, comparing the past,
Trombone History
Origin The trombone is one of the only instruments that does not use keys or valves
and is therefore a very unique instrument as it has a slide instead. The trombones first
ancestor was an instrument called the tromba, which was essentially a trumpet. Then
they added a slide to the trumpet and named it the slide trumpet. The slide trumpet
became not as well known as its brother, a larger version of the slide trumpet known
as the sackbut (original name for the trombone). From the sackbut came 4 new kinds
of trombone, alto, tenor, bass and the contrabass trombones, although the alto
trombone is rarely used, each still exists and plays a different pitch.
WHO invented it and WHEN/WHERE was it? The inventor of the trombone is not
specific as it was invented through people experimenting on the trumpet. Although it
is not clear where exactly it was invented or who exactly it was, it is clear that it was
invented somewhere in Europe, most likely by either the English or Belgian. After
that, production of the trombone usually occurred in Germany, where it was called
the Posaune. While the inventing of the slide trumpet took place in the mid 1400 s,
the inventing of the former ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1500 s the trombone was found incredibly useful by most composers because it
was the only brass instrument that could have played any note on the scale at that

town concert bands and even military bands by the 1700 s. They only became regular
members of the symphony orchestra by the 1850 s. In modern day society they are
commonly used for bands, orchestra, jazz bands, brass ensembles and other popular
music groups. Gluck, Gossec and Mozart were all famous composers who wrote
popular and large pieces for the trombone. Tommy Dorsey was a famous trombonist

Three Pieces of Advice for Incoming Freshmen Coming into high school can be
very nerve racking. Everyone makes jokes about you being a freshman, you aren t
familiar with the building, and you don t always have people you know in your
classes. Three pieces of advice I have for incoming freshmen are to keep personal
things to yourself, stay out of other people s business, and don t worry what others
think of you. You might have a lot of close friends from middle schoolthat you are
transitioning to high schoolwith, but people change. Be careful who you share your
personal business with. You don t want everyone in school to know what is going
on in your life. If you keep to yourself and everything you do isn t public knowledge

[30]
1.2.1 Single Machine Scheduling
The single machine scheduling problem involves scheduling a set of jobs to a
single resource. This is accomplished by determining a sequence that includes each
job, and it assigns the jobs to its source. Each job can give a priority, ready time,
processing time, and due date. The value of the performance measure can be
computed on the base of this information and the sequence of jobs. This problem
grows in complicity at an exponential rate as the number of jobs to be scheduling

Sharp did not have a stringent plan to remain as an industry leader in its LCD
division as well. Most of the competitive advantage it gained is through using its
proprietary LCD technology Four Primary Colour and by increasing the sizes of
the TV. Sharp s business outlook in the LCD market to gain competitive advantage
by increasing the sizes of the TV, is not farfetched as the company is now
beginning to realise that the customers had a threshold point on the sizes of TV

Analysis Of Shakespeare s Hamlet
To Be, Either/Or Not To Be Do it or do not do it you will regret both (Kierkegaard
72) is a quote that echoes and expounds upon the famous To be, or not to be (Hamlet
3.1.56). The former quote was written by none other than Danish philosopher and
poet, SГёren Kierkegaard. Born in 1813, SГёren Kierkegaard was well acquainted
with Shakespeare s text and often referred to it in his writings. When watching
Kenneth Branaghs unique, unabridged adaptation of Hamlet, it is apparent that
Kenneth Branagh was able to capture how similar his Hamletand SГёren are in
character while making his mark in cinematography history. The connection between
Branagh, Shakespeare, and Kierkegaard goes beyond the setting and 19th century
architecture of Branagh s recreation of Hamlet. Through both SГёren and Kenneth s
backstory, choice of esthetics, and their actions in life changing moments the story
of Hamlet has proven to be a guide for both of these extraordinary men. The story
of Hamlet: a Danish prince s beloved father dies and within two months, his mother
marries his uncle, which is considered incestuous and horrendous. While the rest of
the courts celebrates, as Kenneth Branagh chooses to emphasis by having white
flower petals rain down from the ceiling like confetti, the grieving Hamlet has no
say in it. It is not nor it cannot come to good: But break, my heart; for I must hold
my tongue (Hamlet 1.2.158 9). In Kierkeggard s review of Shakespeare Hamlet, he
notes that Hamlet suffers

Arun Murthy who is a co founder of Hortonworks [51] gave an overview of the key
recent advances in Hadoop2.0, including the benefits of the YARN ResourceManager

few examples of many organizations switched or just announced they are switching to

2.2 Previous Work and Critique
2.2.1 Data WarehouseSystems DWHs
Data Warehouse Systems DWHs are platforms used to report and analyse the data
by integrating data from different disparate sources and creating a central
repository of data data warehouse . This is achieved through storing the current
and the historic data to create reports for management or technical reporting based
on some pre defined configurations. Currently nearly every discussion recently of
big data analysis begins with a debate over what is the best way to perform the
analysis, whether the DWHs will be replaced by the new frameworks like Hadoop or
not. Some went very far thinking relational databases are going to

Essay With Apa Format. Why apa format. What Is the Purpose of APA Formatting in College ...

  • 1. Essay With Apa Format Crafting an essay with APA format can be a challenging task that requires attention to detail, precision, and a thorough understanding of the American Psychological Association's guidelines. The APA format encompasses specific rules for citation, formatting, and referencing, making it crucial for writers to navigate through a labyrinth of rules. Firstly, one must grapple with the intricacies of in-text citations, ensuring that every borrowed idea is appropriately acknowledged within the text. The correct placement of commas, parentheses, and ampersands can become a source of frustration, as the slightest error can compromise the integrity of the citation. The challenge continues with the compilation of the reference page, where each cited source must be listed alphabetically, following a predetermined format. The proper structuring of author names, publication dates, and titles demands meticulous attention, as the slightest deviation from the APA guidelines can lead to academic repercussions. The essay's overall structure is not exempt from the rigorous APA standards. The title page, abstract, and body of the essay must adhere to specific guidelines regarding font, spacing, and alignment. Headings and subheadings must be appropriately formatted to ensure clarity and adherence to the APA style. Moreover, the APA format mandates a formal tone, adding another layer of complexity to the writing process. Striking a balance between formality and clarity can be a delicate task, and writers must navigate through the intricacies of academic expression. In conclusion, writing an essay with APA format is no simple feat. It demands a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of the APA guidelines, and patience to navigate the intricate landscape of citation and formatting. Despite the challenges, mastering the APA format is a valuable skill for academic and professional success. • 3. Essay On Roanoke There are a multitude of mysteries in life, some greater than others. Some mysteries are solvable, and some we can only create solutions for in both well made and sloppily built theories. America itself has had its fair share of mysteries, some bigger than others, but by far one of the oldest may be the mysterious conditions surrounding the lost colony of roanoke. In current day North Carolina resides a series of small island; and within this cluster of islands lives Roanoke. It s name comes from the very mystery that haunts the place, Roanoke Colony. Almost 500 years ago, 100 or so men, women, and children disappeared somewhere over the course of 3 years. Among these colonists were Eleanor Dare and her daughter, the first english child to be born in what would be modern day... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second colony fell under the same circumstances, though the hostility between the colonists and natives was more strained. When the third expedition finally came around, it was led not by Sir Walter Raleigh, but instead by english artist John White ( Ancient Origins.net; Encyclopediavirginia.org ). It was at this point the tensions between the colonists and the natives relaxed enough for relatively friendly communications to begin. The hostility fell away when it was realized that White had brought along not only male colonists, but women and children, including his daughter Eleanor Dare and her husband, Annaise Dare. Her child, Virginia Dare, was the first english child born in the americas ( history.com ). With their relations greatly improving with local natives, it seemed as though the english colony of Roanoke was faring much better than its predecessors. Unfortunately, not unlike the previous colonies, they began to suffer from a severe lack of resources. In the year 1587, John White left Roanoke and sailed back to england in hopes of returning with more supplies. His departure, however, occurred during a

Questions On Deep Learning Technique Essay 1.4.3Deep Learning Technique Machine Learning at its most basic is the practice of using algorithms to parse data, learn from it, and then make a determination or prediction about something in the world. So rather than hand coding software routines with a specific set of instructions to accomplish a particular task, the machine is trained using large amounts of data and algorithms that give it the ability to learn how to perform the task [12]. Deep learning is another Machine Learning (ML) algorithm. Deep learning is essentially a set of techniques that help you to parameterize deep neural network structures, neural networks with many, many layers and parameters. Deep Learning breaks down tasks in ways that makes all kinds of machine assists seem possible, even likely. The confusion matrix, in Figure 8 shows that the accuracy of this model is (90.80) with weighted average precision (91.37) greater than recall (91.11) and F1 score (91.24). Though these concepts might initially appear incongruous, they are all depicted in the book The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan and The Joy Luck Clubfilm directed by Wayne Wang. Both modes of interpretation show how the mothers help their daughters solve their problems by explaining the formers pasts. However, while the book leaves each of the daughters stories open ended, the film boldly creates a happy ever after ending for the daughters. In both the movie and book, there are powerful bonds between the mothers and daughters. As shown by these examples, there are many similarities as well as differences between the movie and the book The Joy Luck Club, but both mediums ultimately seek to portray the same themes. To begin with, many events in the film are similar to those in the book. For example, toward the beginning of both the book and the film, the mothers are astonished when June reveals to them that she does not know what to say to her sisters about her deceased mother, Suyuan Woo. In the book, the mothers frantically list out what qualities of her mother June should tell her sisters, such as her mother s kindness... smartness... dutiful nature to family... hopes, things that matter to her... the excellent dishes she cooked... (Tan 31). Just so in the movie, during the same scene, the mothers appear
  • 6. The Rise Of The Qing Dynasty During the years 1851 1866 there was massive civil war, or as some would consider it, a rebellion in China. This period of turmoil was not only the most destructive war of the nineteenth century, but likely the bloodiest civil war of all time. (Platt, 2012) The ruling government was the Qing dynasty, who had been in power since the mid 1600 s. There were widespread problems throughout the country including natural disasters such as droughts, famines, and floods. (Robert Worden, 1988) There were a substantial number of lower class citizens who were unhappy with their living conditions and with the Manchu rulers of the Qing dynasty. There was a large gap in economic status between the lower class and the wealthy members of the government. This social tension along with Chinabeing defeated militarily by France and Britain lead to a citizen uprising in the region of south China. Known as the Taiping Rebellion, this large scale revolt was fought in an attempt to create a new Han Chinesedynasty that would unite Christianity and Confucianism. (Black, 2013) The Taiping Rebellion impacted Chinese history in two main ways: the Chinese lower class learned to fight for social change, which lead to other rebellions, and, at the same time, the war showcased the Chinese government s intolerance for and ability to thwart societal change. The first main impact the rebellion had on Chinese history was that the Chinese people, who were possibility influence by the American Civil war,
  • 7. The Battle Of The River The river was an important avenue of approach for the Union army to reach and gain control of Vicksburg. The Loess Bluffs bordering the Mississippi River provided excellent observation positions for Confederate artillery to fire upon any enemy approaching via the river. Ships were particularly vulnerable to their fire because of an oxbow north of the city s waterfront where ships were forced to slow down to make the treacherous turn. The river approach afforded no opportunities for cover and concealment. The Confederate positions at Fort Hill and South Fort had clear fields of fire regarding approaching gunboats that afforded them a great advantage. The oxbow proved a challenging obstacle for Union approach, and was considered in the design and placement of artillery positions by the Confederates at Fort Hill and the river batteries along the waterfront. The Confederates placed additional obstacles in the form of explosive mines within the waters of the river and canal to the north and south of the city. The U.S.S. Cairo sunk in the Yazoo River Canal due to one of these mines during the winter of 1862 while on a mission to clear the river of mines and rid the channel of Confederate batteries. The city of Vicksburgin itself was the key terrain. This fortified city was positioned to protect the Mississippi River, and without taking Vicksburg...the outcome of the Civil War would have completely different. • 11. Standardized Test Scores An Accurate Representation Of A... Are standardized test scores an accurate representation of a student s abilities? Standardized tests can be found at any level of a student s academic career, but are they accurate indicators of a student s academic abilities? Standardized tests are used to measure a student s academic abilities, and overall knowledge. In theory, a student s skills can be determined by examining the limited data collected from the test. However, standardized test do not fully represent a student s abilities, and cumulative knowledge. Many factors may affect the validity of the scores, and the accuracy of the assessment. Instructor s teaching directly for the test, being able to guess on multiple choice questions, examining only test scores, and ignoring other academic factors contribute to the biased representation of students academic abilities. Because instructors are teaching directly for the test, the data collected may not be an accurate representation of the student s true abilities. As standardized test grow in popularity among the school system, the pressure to achieve high scores rapidly builds. The importance of high scores goes beyond individual students performances, and teacher evaluations. Serious repercussions could result from poor scores, or performances. For example, schools that continue to fail to improve may be closed, and districts that continue to fail may be subject to state takeover (Posner). With the weight of the success of the school on their shoulders,

The character shows definite signs of bitterness toward White men and their attitude of superiority. He scoffs at the organization of their society and calls it a beauty of captivity (119). A mere existence where freedom and individuality have given way to a life of dictated regulation. Here where all the orange trees line in military rows, and endlessly bear fruit (119). The young man does not want to be another orange tree whose life is decided by the conforming ways of their society, dancing to the strings of custom and tradition (119). What then is he striving for? He tells us of the beauty and calm of his homeland, and how much he desires to be back among his people and the simplicity and freedom of their lifestyle, but he is also angry that his people are forced to live such a menial existence. I feel suddenly angry that my people should have to do such things for a living (120). This is what is at the core of his struggle, the supposition that he has to choose between living as an inferior Indian with their freedoms, or parallel the rigid, dictated life that he feels the white men live. It is the reason he feels alone among the pines. It is after talking to some hobos and bums on the train that that the young man starts to realize what his sociology professor was trying to tell
  • 13. Use Of Diction And Its Effects On Adult Men With Erectile... Sildenafil, or more commonly known as VIAGRA, is a medication that is geared towards adult men with erectile dysfunction, abbreviated ED (Medicines EMC). It is stated that about 30 million men in the United States suffer from ED (Viagra). In Viagra commercials and advertisements, blunt diction is utilized to highlight the common insecurities of men, which creates this idea that in order to fulfill one s manliness, then an individual would have to take Viagra. In this particular advertisement, I noticed key ploys to entice a mansufferingfrom ED to take Viagra as a means by using a bold selection of diction, a paradise getaway background seen from a cabana, and an inviting, seductive woman. In the advertisement, the audience may first notice the blue text in the upper left corner that reads, Gentlemen: VIAGRA helps guys with ED get and keep an erection. The text is light blue, which is the same color as the pill, to indicate that this product is targeted towards males. The use of diction in this advertisement is straight forward with strong connotation. It blatantly states what the product does. This could instill the idea that the product is confident and a guaranteed investment, thus making the consumer believe that it may help with his sex life. Viagra may also be intentionally bolded as a connection to what the product is intended to do. The text looks bigger and bolder and the product s purpose is to make a male suffering from ED to become bigger and bolder. This

The Forest Of The Rumpi Hills The forests of the Rumpi Hills also contain what is commonly referred to as the Rumpi Hills Forest Reserve or previously known as the Rumpi Hills Native Administration Forest Reserve created by Forestry Ordinance No 38 of 1937 and approved by Forestry Ordinance No 16756/79 of 2nd July, 1941 (SWPA, 2016). The North Boundary is the road from Lipenja Mukete through Ikoi and Dikome Ngolo to Madie; the South Boundary goes through Nalende, Monyange, Itoki and Ilor to Moko. Whereas the East Boundary, goes through Dikome Balue, Mofako, Itende to Bisoro; the West Boundary goes through Dibonda and Ndian and Ituka to Lipenja which is also the starting point of the reserve (SWPA, 2016). These boundaries give the Rumpi Hills ForestReserve a characteristic inverted letter C shape and structure, see figure 7. The reserve is composed of land belonging to the Ngolo, Bima and Balue tribes, the first two form part of the North West while the latter, forms part of the South East area. Most of the villages are on top of the hills, so that, a more or less vertical climb of anything up to 400 meters has to be faced before reaching a village or settlement. The proposal that, part of the Rumpi Hills forests should be made a forest reserve was first made by Mr Rosevear in a memorandum written in 1933 on the potential forest reserves of the Kumba Division, Cameroon (SWPA, 2016). The treatment that Muslims received throughout the poem, is more intolerant than tolerant, although there are a few times where the tolerance between the Christians and Muslims can be seen. El Cid, takes from the Muslims without question. His tactics for taking from them can be seen as inhuman as well as extremely violent. The Muslims are also categorized with the cattle which demonstrates the level with which the Christians thought of them as, He captured Moorish men and Moorish women, and all the cattle being herded out (Pg.33). Hildegard also insinuates her intolerance towards other religions as well. Hildegard s letter all show her reliance and praise on God. Through her visions she is able to share his wisdom and knowledge of the holy church. Her letter to Bernard of Clairvaux provides the beginning of her ideas of intolerance. Bernard of Clairvaux was a leading supporter behind the Second Crusade. The crusades are directly correlated to intolerance. Although, writing to him does not necessarily suggest that she is intolerant towards other religions, the statements that she says in her letter signify her support of the movement. In later letters, she continues her appeal to the people she is writing too, that Christianity is the religion that they must follow and she can help them with her visions. She suggests to the people who seek her help, that God is the answer to all of their problems. They can be saved through the power of God and she can help them achieve the answers they are looking for since she has a connection with God.

A new beginning for two people that have had a protracted antagonism for one another. The speaker does not understand how they are becoming good neighbors, because they are not cows. He spent many hours walking through the mountains, hills, valleys, and coastlines observing the natural elements that make each one of these places unique. The key feature of many of Halprin s projects included the use of water features, he would use these water features to elicit the feeling of being in a natural environment rather than a man made one. Autism Journey Of The Unknown Essay Autism the Journey of the Unknown: For many centuries, countless individuals have had problems with numerous forms of expression, such as communicating effectively, building relationship, or thinking critically. These multiple forms of complications left their loved ones with an unknown reason for their lack of interaction. It wasn t until recent years that a name was finally given to classify the disorder these individuals possessed autism. Radio media, which started in 1920 with the invention of the radio channels and broadcasts, has now evolved into many different forms like television, movies, video games, and the internet. A very controversial and worrying topic for parents and guardians nowadays is the amount of violencethat is now being used and broadcasted in media. Many people believe that violent media is the main reason why there is youth violence in America. Violent media doesn t precisely contribute to violent youth behavior because research shows that even though the amount of violence in media has increased over the past years, the number of youth homicides and violent events have decreased. There are also broader factors that contribute to youth violence rather than violent media, like a history of violent victimization, low parent involvement, and even living in socially disorganized neighborhoods. And although violent media seems like a bad thing to be
  • 23. Infant Colic Before taking Child Development, I hadn t heard about Infant Colic. After learning a little bit about it in class, I decided to do some research of my own on it. An infant can be born healthy and well fed, but can cry for several hours a day, several days a week due to them having Colic. There are some theories as to what causes Colic. Some of the causes may be gas, growing digestive system, stomach pains caused by hormones and babies becoming overstimulated and oversensitive to light and noise. Your baby could have an infection, an irregular heartbeat, stomach problems, or even increased eye pressure (WebMD). Babies can develop Colic around the age of just two weeks old. Babies can be born full term and have Colic. Colic can develop later if your infantwas born premature. Colic will go away by itself around three to four months old. It doesn t matter what gender your baby is or whether or not you breast fed or bottle fed them. They can still end up having Colic anyways. Children who had Colic as infants will grow up to be like every other kid who didn t have Colic. Parents may become confused in knowing whether it is a normal cry because they need their diaper changed to them having Colic. Infants who have Colic tend to have episodes of where they scream.... This field of study is designed to help answer the question as to why people display certain behaviors due to their interaction with others. This field of study is very interesting due to its practicality, in regards to real life demonstration, usage, and observation. In my life, I have held several jobs that have been heavily influenced by the dynamics of those who were around me. One job in particular was focused within the service industry; this ended with my resignation due to the unfavorable circumstances that I encountered in the work environment. Prior to making the decision to even apply for this job, I had been hesitant due to former employees and peers, who had reported poor working conditions. Despite the negative reviews that I had heard I went forward with my application, enticed by the idea of making more than minimum wage and working in an area close to my house. It was during this time period that I experienced one of the terms that we had learned during our class, known as post decision cognitive dissonance. Later I would experience firsthand the concept of stereotype threat and conformity effect; both in a negative way, which would lead to my final resignation. This paper will explain several key terms that have are essential to social psychology; while also connecting them to a real life event that demonstrates their practicality in usage.

It is not possible to entertain all three theses together while maintaining any level of consistency. The problem, therefore, is in determining which of the three theses to discard. The first thesis is the Free WillThesis, which simply states that agents sometimes act freely. This thesis seems to be reasonable for at least two reasons. The first reason is that, more often than not, we feel as though we are free; that is we feel as though we make a choice based on what we want, whether it be after careful consideration or merely on a whim. The very idea that we feel as though we... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second thesis in the Free Will problem is the Causal Determinism Thesis, which states that every event is causally determined to occur by another event; every event has a cause. This thesis seems reasonable because it coincides with the way in which we view the world, that being scientifically. Whenever an event occurs we naturally think that something caused that event. Imagine a cup of water falling over on a desk. It goes against our common sense to say that nothing caused the cup of water to fall over, it just did. We may not always know what the cause is but we do seem to think that a cause is necessary for the event to have happened and so far science seems to support this conclusion. The third thesis in the Free Will Problem is Incompatibilism Thesis, which states that the Free Will Thesis and the Causal Determinism Thesis are incompatible with one another; in other words, they are mutually exclusive. This thesis seems reasonable due to the following: if we define free will as acting without a cause or not being caused to act, and the Free Will Thesis says agents sometime act freely, then anytime we, as agents, act freely, an event occurs that does not have a cause. This is a direct violation of the Causal Determinism Thesis, which states that every event must have a cause. All three theses seem intuitively plausible but it is impossible to hold all three theses together consistently. Choosing

For example, Ellen DeGeneres is a very famous producer, who even has her own show. She openly identifies as a lesbian and has been married to Portia de Rossi since 2008, after California legalized unions between couples who identified as LGBT. This immigration matter is not new, because in the past there is evidence that supports that early or primitive humans moved from one place to another in tribes or groups to distant lands in the necessity of searching supplements of food, water or shelter for their survival. Scientists and the Merriam Webster Dictionary define this specific concept of displacement of people as nomad (merriam webster.com). Right after the fall of Hitler s Nazi Germany in World War II, the United Statesof America became alongside with their counterpart, the U.R.S.S. • 29. Art And The Bible Summary Art and the Bible, written by Francis A. Schaefer, is a short, simple to the point book regarding how a Christian should approach art. The book is divided into two sections. Section one is title Art in the Bible and section two is titled Some Perspectives on Art. Section one gives examples of art within the scriptures. This art includes things such as the patterns and details of the tabernacle and the temple, King Solomon s throne, Jesus use of art, the poetry and music of David, other music, drama and dance. Schaeffer concludes section one with a discussion on the art detailed in the descriptions of Heaven. In section two, Schaeffer gives eleven perspectives the Christian can use to consider and evaluate works of art (Schaeffer 50). The first and most important listed is A work of art has value in itself (Schaeffer 50). The one perspective that really sparked my thinking was Christian art is by no means always religious art (Schaeffer 88). Schaeffer explains how God created more than just religious things during creation, such as flowers, birds, etc. and that these things are worthy of being painted, photographed, wrote about, sung about, etc. Therefore, as a Christian artist, every one of our works does not have to be religious in nature. Everything in God s beautiful creation is worth creating art out

INSIDE AL QAEDA Rohan Gunaratna New York: Columbia University Press, 2002, 272 pp. International counter terrorism expert Rohan Gunaratna s book Inside Al Qaeda is an analysis of leadership, ideology, structure and strategies, of the first multinational terrorist group [1] of the twenty first century. Based on five years of research and extensive interviews with over 200 militants, the book traces the genesis of al Qaeda and its rise to prominence leading up to the September 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. Though Inside Al Qaeda has elicited effusive praise from the Western media, some of the claims made by the author in this book had been widely challenged by the Australian media, the Malaysian government and scholars. As for the ordinary reader, Inside Al Qaeda may come across as a data dump [2] than a comprehensive commentary on the subject. The biographical sketches of Osama bin Laden and Sheikh Khalid Muhammad, the key planner of the 9/11 attacks, is by far the strongest section of the book. A detailed description of al Qaeda s networks across the Middle East, Europe, South America and North America is another aspect that sets this book apart from other literature on the subject. The book throws up new data about al Qaeda s global networks quoting first hand interviews. For instance, Gunaratna gave a detailed account of how the arrest of the twentieth hijacker Zaccarias Moussaoui affected the 9 /11 attacks [3] and how Hizballah operative Imad Mughniyeh

First nature/nurture is indivisible. Second organisms humans and otherwise are active processes, moving targets, from fertilization until death. Third, no single academic or clinical discipline provides us with the true or best way to understand human sexuality (Fausto Sterling, 2000) Throughout this study I compared to of the largest toy brands in the world LEGOand Barbie, they are both iconic pop culture symbols and were perfect for this paper. However there will always be negative connotations around these matters as everyone s ideologies are different. It is an interesting and important topic that everyone from all backgrounds, social statues and ethnicities are part of yet it is a very multi layered and complicated topic as there are so many factors that come into play. The resources may be machine in a workshop, runways at an airport and crews at a construction site, as well as processing units in a computing environment. The jobs may be operation in the production process, take offs and landing at an airport, stages in a construction project, executions of computer programs[30]. The goal of scheduling is to assign resources to the jobs such that one or more objective are optimized.
