Essay About Career
Crafting an essay about one's own career can be a daunting task that requires a delicate balance
between self-reflection and professional presentation. The difficulty lies not only in articulating
personal experiences and aspirations but also in shaping them into a coherent narrative that
engages the reader. It necessitates introspection and the ability to critically evaluate one's
journey, achievements, setbacks, and the lessons learned along the way.
Expressing oneself authentically while maintaining a level of objectivity can be challenging.
Striking the right tone is crucial — being confident without sounding boastful, reflective
without being overly sentimental. The challenge is to showcase one's skills, experiences, and
goals in a manner that resonates with the audience and highlights the unique qualities that set an
individual apart in the professional realm.
Moreover, the process involves more than just writing skills; it demands a deep understanding of
one's career trajectory, the ability to identify key moments of growth, and the foresight to
articulate future aspirations. Juggling these elements in a well-organized and compelling manner
requires time, patience, and a keen eye for detail.
Additionally, the task involves constant revisions and self-editing to ensure clarity, coherence,
and relevance. It is about distilling a complex personal and professional journey into a concise
yet comprehensive piece that captures the essence of one's career story.
In conclusion, writing an essay about one's career is a challenging endeavor that requires a
combination of self-awareness, storytelling prowess, and an understanding of the nuances of
professional presentation. It is a process that demands time, effort, and a commitment to
articulate one's experiences and aspirations in a way that captivates and informs the reader.

Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl Sparknotes
1.The most memorable part in the Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl is the
portion about Linda s hiding for nearly seven years (Jacobs122) in a place that is
not even bearable for mosquitoes to enter (101). Reading chapter after chapter about
Linda hiding in such an uncomfortable space was enough to make my hatred for
slaveryeven worse than I had ever imagined. For freedom, she lay day after day in a
place that she was unable to stand up and easily move around in (96). I thought
about how she was so close to her children, but unable to share their young lives (96).
I could almost feel the cold and heat from the open exposure of the thin shingle roof
(98). This tears at my thoughts beyond my understanding. It is most... Show more

Even the master was laden with fear because murder was so common (41). As for
others, infants [were] smothered (46), slave girls are raised in an atmosphere of
licentiousness (45), and valuable slaves receive the treatment of a dog (43) and are
never acknowledge as human beings. Even the kind Mr. Sands does not keep his
word and follows the ways of a slave owner.
3.Slavery was oppression at the core. Many slaves who attempted escaping were
chased down by bloodhounds...[that] literally tore the flesh from [their] bones (41).
Others were so oppressed that they lacked the strength and means of escape.
Others who thought about escaping saw only the danger, danger associated with
their life and danger associated with their position. Some slaves stayed because
they never really knew the reality of slavery, they had never felt slavery (45).
Some who attempted to escape were placed in jail and others were sold (45).
Slaves were not only enslaved by their owners, but by their own knowledge and
experiences. I believe many choose not to escape because they respected their life
and wanted to preserve it as long as they possible could. Some slaves stayed
because they had family and friends that begged them to stay (77). Some slaves
who escaped were strong willed and had enduring strength to leave family, friends,
and everything they knew for a better life (25). I may be wrong, but I believe we are
all ultimately responsible for
Violations Of Parole Supervision Are Technical Violations
Studies have found that many violations of parole supervision are technical violations
instead of the parole reoffending. Technical violations can range from a curfew to
stipulations that the parole must not drink alcohol or be in a house that contains
alcohol. These technical violations, while some may consider small or insignificant
violation, can cause hardships and negative outcomes for the parolee.
These technical parole terms are put in place to hopefully lessen the likelihood that
the parolee will reoffend. For example, the members justice system may believe that
parolees are more at risk to reoffend when drunk thus they place the parolee under
strict instructions to not consume any alcohol or even be in the presence of alcohol
to hopefully help curb temptation to drink. The members of the justice system may
also want to help the parolee stay away from the negative and deviant life they were
living before prison. To accomplish this the parole board might put in the parole
terms that the parolee is not allowed to associated with current or past known gang
members. The technical parole term of not drinking may also be a way the parole
board is trying to keep the parolee from going back to their old lifestyle of crime.
When the parolee drinks they are less in control of their actions and may go back to
hanging out with their old deviant friends. The parolee may also have less control of
their anger and may go back to their habit of being violent.
These parole terms
Kristallnacht Turning Point In History
Kristallnacht, a leading event to the Holocaust, was a turning point and an important
event in history. Kristallnacht, literally translated to Night of Crystals, is also known
as Night of Broken Glass. In 1938, violent anti Jews invaded and destroyed Germany,
and areas of Austria and Czechoslovakia. SA and Hitler Youth units throughout
Germanyand the annexed areas, destructed any Jewish owned businesses, houses,
synagogues, cemeteries, hospitals, and schools. Kristallnacht, a very important event
in time, should be included and displayed in the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
Ever since 1933, German Jews were subjected to repressive policies, ever since Adolf
Hitlerbecame chancellor of Germany. Before Kristallnacht, Nazi policies have
been mainly non violent and mild. German officials said that Kristallnacht erupted
as a spontaneous outburst of public sentiment in response to the assassination of
Ernst vom Rath (USHMM). Vom Rath was a German embassy official who was
stationed in Paris. On November 7, 1938, Herschel Grynszpan, a 17 year old Polish
Jew, shot Ernst vom Rath. The reason of him doing this is because a few days
earlier, Grynszpan s parents were among the group of Jews... Show more content on

Holocaust Memorial Museum. After the citizens of Germany took part in that
night of violence, it alerted the Nazis that the German population was ready to
take more radical measures on eliminating Jews. The Nazi regime grew, and more
radical measures and laws were taken in order to extract Jews completely from the
German economy and social life. The regime moved eventually toward policies of
forced emigration, and finally toward the realization of a Germany free of Jews
(judenrein) by deportation of the Jewish population to the East (USHMM). The
violence of the night of broken glass notified German Jews that this was not a
temporary issue, but would only get
Chinese Medicine And China History And Eastern Culture
The Chinese medicine is related to china history and eastern culture. Every culture
has its own idea about creation of universe and human being. Chinese has a basic
theory for human creation that included the human s physiology and the human s
substance. The theory of five substances depends on five elements that related to all
physiologic activity of human. One of them is Qi. Qi term has a conflicted idea
between traditional Chinese medicineand western scientific sense that due to
misunderstand Chinese medicine turn and lack of word. However, People wonder
about qi what is qi? Where does qi come from or from where?
Qi pronounced as Chi, which means energy in Western translation. Qi is the energy of
the body, food, and universe, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other word, qi is the life to different things. Qi is all physiologic activity of
universe that gave the movement and the life to everything. According to Wisman
Jing Yue s states that human life depends upon this qi. Also, when qi gathers, the
physical body is formed; when qi disperses, the body dies. Qi is form the human.
Qi gives a life to everything, and gives form for everything. According to Flam qi
congeals to make humans. Not only does the uniting of qi make form, it also
specifically makes the human form or body. (page, 99.) It is the soul of the body
that is giving in the first breath of human life. Also, Qi inherits from the parents,
which is the pre heaven qi that gets from parents. Kendall stated that Nejing is a
compilation of Chinese medicine concept and is still relevant today and provides
an amazing understanding of human body that is still accurate. Per heaven Qi is
not exactly DNA by its self in the western scientific sense of this word. It is the
thing that gives the DNA specific form, and the life. Qi gives the form to DNA
and the life for DNA. Also, qi can be the idea that came from the qi can able to
engender the blood and blood mothers of qi, which has the same idea of the pre
heavens and DNA.
However, Qi is not just DNA or per heaven qi. As I mentioned before that qi is all the
physiological functions and all movement of the phenomenal in universe. Therefore,

The Classic Play Antigone
Over the past couple months, our English 9 class read and acted out the classic
play Antigone. It was both scary and romantic. The many arguments carried out
through this play added the extra bit of drama which I actually really liked.
However, I did not like how the chorus made it clear that all that had happened had
affected no else outside of the royal family in the last speech of the play. It made the
whole story seem kind of pointless which I was not too fond of. I really related to
Antigonebecause I m a very stubborn person as well, and I m not one for taking
criticism well, so her reckless actions reminded me quite a bit of myself. I also
realized how brave she was, and I couldn t help but think of myself again because I

Taking a Look at the Taliban
Taliban is a Pashtun nationalist and extremely conservation Muslim movement with
encompassing Pashtun ethnic majority. This organization was founded by an
extremely inscrutable individual named Mullah Mohammed Omar , and the word
Talib is an Arabic word which means Student the follower of this movement which is
called Talibanwere religious students with a very conservative understanding of
Islamic law. Taliban went through three phases starting from September 1994 up to
September 1996 they were active as militia groups and from September 1996 up to
December 2001 the Taliban governed the majority part of Afghanistanas a
government, but due to the violation of human rights the majority of the world states
did not recognize it as legitimate government. And the third phase which is starting
from 2004 till the present day as an insurgency groups. Under the Taliban regime
many cases of human rights violation took place, according to United Nation report
which is consist of 55 pages during the consolidation to take control over the western
and northern part of Afghanistan the Taliban committed systematic mass execution
against civilians. Also, United Nation officials pointed out that between 1996 until
2001 there had been fifteen mass execution and as of another report by the United
Nation in 1998 upon taking control over Mazari Sharif the Taliban executed around
4000 civilians. One of the common target of the Taliban were the Hazara ethnic

A rating agency was required find out the creditworthiness of an investment. This
can apply to any company, bank, government or an investment. There were namely
3 famous rating agencies involved in the crisis namely, Standard amp; Poor s (S
amp;P), Moody s, and Fitch Group. To give an example of a rating would be like
the big internet search company Google would be given a rating like AA+ i.e. a
high grade. Many of these CDOs however were given good ratings such as AAA+
the highest rating possible given by any rating agency. These CDOs did not
deserve the rating as the CDOs were made of mortgages of lenders who were
unable to pay their mortgage. The reason for such a high rating was simple. In the
past, rating agencies were paid by the buyer to rate the assets they were going to
invest in. In 1970s however, the systems changed and now it was the seller that
was paying the agency for the ratings, on a per rating basis. This gave incentives
for rating agencies to rate more and be more generous in their rating. A conflict of
interest rose and rating agencies were now earning large amount of profit for these
CDOs. They were more then happy to rate them. Moody s earned nearly US$1
billion a year from rating in 2005 and 2006. With an average of $300k per rating
why wouldn t they want to rate more? Aside from that, they had to give a good rating

The Pros And Cons Of Shareholders
Shareholders of the company have ultimate control of the company. They can appoint
and remove directors who run the business and are also responsible for its
management of the company.
A general phenomenon about the corporations is that shareholders must accept
majority rule in a company. Shareholders who own majority of the shares, feel that
they have right to make majority of all decision because they have more at stake.
Minority shareholder can also participate in company affairs by checking majority
shareholders power, and promote transparency, ethical practices and good
governance (OECD, 2004) but they are often regarded as an unnecessary burden a
dead weight in corporation (Shkolnikov, 2006)

3. The General Right to Be Treated Fairly
The general right of a shareholder, in particular a minority shareholder, to be treated
fairly. A shareholder may apply to court for assistance where;
a) The affairs of the company are being conducted or the powers of the directors are
being exercised in a manner oppressive to one or more shareholders or in disregard of
his or their interests as shareholders; or
b) Some act of the company has been done or is threatened or that some resolution
of the shareholders or any class of them has been passed or is proposed which
unfairly discriminates against or is otherwise prejudicial to one or more of the
shareholders.
Certain Protection Provided by Companies Act 2006 of UK General protection of
minority shareholder against unfair prejudice A shareholder may apply to the court
by petition on the ground that the company s affairs are being or have been
conducted in a manner which is unfairly prejudicial to the interests of its
shareholders generally or some of them (including at least the applicant), or that any
proposed act or omission of the company would be so prejudicial(DOV

Analysis Of Ariane 5 Launch, The Software Failure
During Ariane 5 launch, the software failure occurred when an attempt to convert a
64 bit floating point number to convert a 64 bit floating point number representing
the horizontal velocity to a signed/fixed 16 bit integer caused the number to
overflow (become too big). The floating point number was too large to be
represented in 16 bit (i.e. Ariane 4 software) and this hence caused a numeric
overflow. The maximum value that can be represented in 16 bit is 32768. And the
horizontal velocity which was being measured by sensors was greater than this, and
hence the number overflowed. Moreover, Ariane 5software did not have an exception
handler for numeric overflow and as a consequence it defaulted overall runtime
exception handlingfor the programming languageused (i.e. Ada ) and this default
behavior in the event of NULL exception handler was to shut the system down. Since
the backup system was running the same software code, exactly the same thing
happened.
Famous author and software engineer, Ian Sommerville has defended the argument
where software designed for Ariane 4 was reused. According to Ian, in fact the
developers of Ariane 5 software developers followed the good systems engineering
practice. They decided to reuse the software because the inertial reference system
(IRS) was exactly the same as installed in Ariane 4 (i.e. very reliable system). The
part of the system that failed was actually not required because particular calculation

Affordable And Reliable Home Recording Equipment
Affordable and reliable home recording equipment has led to a revolution in the
way that some albums are recorded these days. It is no longer necessary for many
artists to hire an expensive 48 track studio when they can inexpensively duplicate
many of the same production values by using software programs like Pro Tools
(Llommen, 2010). 30 years ago the thought of an artist recording an album with
there own financial backing was unheard of. With advancement in technology over
time the impossible has suddenly become possible. Having a traditional record deal
was a necessity in being able to record and release your music this meaning artists
were locked down to labels for years leaving very little control to the artist, however
times have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Master License deal is when the artist leases the license to their recordings to a
label for a fixed amount of time and therefore the label has a vested interest in the
record and how its promoted and distributed. The label will pay for the records and
the means of distribution. The return to the artist on these types of deals tends to
be much higher. Master license deals are very common amongst indie labels such
as Inertia. It is common for an artist who funds their own recordings to push for a
license deal, this is less risk for the label as they have the final product and know
what they are investing their money into. It s also great for the artist as the artist
has the final product, which they had total artistic control over without having the
pressure and input of a label telling them what to do. The term within a master
license deal tends to be much shorter than that of a traditional record deal, it will
apply only for the rights to that master for a fixed period of time and after this time
full rights and ownership of the master belongs back with the artist. There is no
advance in a master license deal and therefore the artist does not owe the label any
money for recording the album as the artist would have fully paid for the recording
themselves. Dissecting a Traditional record deal:

Essay Native American Relations with The United States
Native American Relations with The United States
What were the significant treaties, policies, and events that defined US Government
and Native American Relations? How did the Native American respond to these
treaties, polices, and events historically? How did these treaties, policies, and events
affect the subsistence, religion, political, and social structures of the Native American
people? I will answer these questions through the examination of two centuries of US
history in six time periods that define clear changes in the relationship between the
Native American and the US Government.

The Protestant Reformation And The Reformation Essay
The Protestant Reformation
Why the Protestant Reformation is considered a significant development in the
Christian Church.
The Protestant Reformation was an event which occurred within the Catholic Church
during the 16th century. This Reformation was prompted by Martin Luther s 95
theses which were a list of 95 criticisms towards the church. The Reformation formed
another branch of Christianity called Protestantism which is comprised of many
different Christian denominations including Anglican, Presbyterian, and Lutheran.
The Protestant Reformation is considered a vital part of the Christian Church s history
and in order to explain why, this essay will look at three key parts of the reformation:
the events which lead to Luther nailing his 95 theses on the door of the church, the
event itself, and the consequences on the Catholic Church, the Protestant Church, and
Western Society.
The first cause that I am going to talk about is the corruption that was going on
within the Catholic Church which led Martin Luther to write his 95 theses. In
order to understand why people did what they did, one must understand that
everyone was religious and no one assumed that it might be possible that what they
were taught was wrong, heaven was up above and this was why the churches were
built tall, in order to be closer to heaven and god. Hell was below and was for the
sinners; and the in between state of Purgatory, for people who didn t deserve either.
Purgatory was considered a place of
The Event I Went At The University Of Minnesota
The event I went to go see was a Guest Master Class instructed by Barthold Kujiken.
This event was held on Sunday afternoon in Ferguson Hall at the University of
Minnesota. It was held in a small auditorium similar to a class setting. Barthold was
accompanied by a student flutist and pianist. A lot of time was spent with the flutist
and pianist playing a part of a piece, and him teaching and demonstrating on how to
improve a piece and explaining the fundamentals of the music. It was a very
informative event/class.
Barthold Kujiken was born March 8, 1949. He s a Belgian flutist and recorder
player. He attended Bruges Conservatory and the Royal Conservatories of Brussels
and The Hague, where he studied the modern flute. He is best known for playing
baroque music on authentic instruments such as the flute. He played in baroque
orchestras for many years, and then went off to playing chamber music concerts all
over the world, where he extended to playing 19th century music. The majority of
the event he talked about Sonata s. As we discussed in class, a sonata is a solo
instrument accompanied by a keyboard. In this case the solo instrument was the
flute and it was accompanied by a piano. The flutist played a major sonata. As she
played apiece he would stop her and tell her a few things to change to improve the
piece, and she would play that piece once again with the revisions. One of the other
things he told her was to play the sonata without any ornaments just the skeleton.

Post Surgery Procedure Essay
Post surgery, Angela s head will be bandaged in order to reduce swelling and

she may also use a soft icepack. Two weeks post procedure she will experience

To further improve the search engine ranking of a site, a company must ensure they
have a site that is worthy of links. Many search engine optimization companies
suggest clients use the term click here as a keyword, for example, yet this truly does
nothing to improve the site s search engine ranking. It s best to use a specific
keyword in situations such as this, as they provide value to the search engine.
Companies should never use images, videos and flash without accompanying text,

analysis is shown throughout the play through many different aspects. Trifles is
defined as something that does not have much importance or value. Throughout the
play, you see the many things men believe to be trifle to women. Such as, Mrs.
Wrights frozen preservatives they find on the kitchen counter. The Sheriff mentions at
the beginning of the play, Well, you can beat the woman! Held for murder and worryin
about her preserves. (1032). The men in the play are... Show more content on

During the play, the men criticize the women for worrying about all the trifle things
throughout the house, such as the frozen preserves in the kitchen and the mess
throughout the house. The men also do not see the women as anything but their
house wives, who they have control over. An example of this is when the county
attorney states For that matter, a sheriffs wife is married to the law (1039). The
county attorney is stating that since Mrs. Peters is married to the sheriff that she
also holds a part of this title and that she would not do anything to undermine him.
The county attorney states that given Mrs. Peter s marriage to the sheriff, she is to
never undermine him because what she does reflects back on him. Another example
of how the women in Trifles have no self representation is that throughout the whole
play none of the women go by their first names. When speaking to each other it is
always Mrs. Hale or Mrs.
Outpatient Clinic Case Summary
Case Presentation A 45 year old male presented to our Outpatient Clinic with
history of a swelling involving the upper part of left leg. He had noticed this
swelling 6 months back, which had gradually increased in size. There was no
history of associated pain, limitation of movements of the knee, fever or swelling
involving any other part of the body. On examination, there was a solitary, globular
swelling involving the upper lateral part of left tibia measuring approximately 5cm
by 6 cm. Local temperature was not raised. The surface was smooth, margins were
well defined and consistency was bony. The skin overlying the swelling was normal
and there were no visible veins, sinuses or scar marks. Examination of the knee and
ankle joints was within normal limits and the distal neurovascular status was normal.
Plain radiographs of the leg revealed a well defined, eccentric, expansile,
multiloculated radiolucent swelling involving the whole of upper tibial epiphysis and

extension is rare [ref]. On histopathology, the tumor is characterized by numerous
giant cells, which vary in size from 10 Вµ to 100 Вµ and exhibit many centrally
placed uniform nuclei. The other components of the tumor are the spindle cells.
These are oval, elongated and contain large nuclei with a small amount of acidophilic

tumor rather than the giant cells. Therefore, the tumor aggressiveness depends on the
spindle cells and not the giant cells [ref]. Surgery is the mainstay of treatment of

surgery, the most common reason being inadequate tumor tissue removal. The

Our Social Lives Remo Analysis
When Did Lives on Social Media Become More Time Consuming than Our Social
Lives by Jessica Remo argues that what people post social media is not portraying
the truth to their daily lives. Social media allows the individual to post a picture,
video, status, and edit these to make it seem like their lives are better than others.
Social media allows the user to create their own TV channel and make their lives
seem better than they really are, (Remo). In addition to portraying a fake live,
these posts have negative impacts on the viewers. With 92 percent of those
between 18 and 29, and 73 percent of people in their 30 s and 40 s using social
media, this gives each individual the ability to control their image, and people s

She provides the example of Scott Schroeder, a chef, who had a hard time selling
one item on his menu, and after posting it to Instagram, customers come in for that

is destroying real connections between people and results in self esteem loss based
upon other people s posts.
With the information provided, along with the diction Jessica Remo uses, it clearly
demonstrates that she is opposed to social media, and believes that social media has
negatives effects on others and that people only post what they want others to see. It
is true, that many people become upset when viewing other profiles, for an example
seeing your friends at a party that you were not invited to. Her viewpoint is clearly
identifiable with the usage of her own real life examples involving her friend, her
mom s Facebook friend, and the chef in
The Roman Triumphs Analysis
In Mary Beard s book, The Roman Triumph, she explores one of the most
interesting victory celebrations of the ancient world. Instead of having a small
gathering, or even a raucous party, Romans brought what they had seized and carted
it through the city. They even brought some people they had captured so that the
crowd could know exactly who they triumphed against. This celebration gives
historians a view into the Romans lifestyle. Roman triumphs also show what values
were important to the Romans and where they found their significance. Using Mary
Beard s book I will demonstrate the nature of Roman triumphs by giving examples
from Pompey s triumph in 61BC, what these triumphs tell historians about the
Roman world and why they are significant, and what they tell us about the values
the Romans held dear. Triumphs were a very distinguished ceremony in Ancient
Roman culture. Receiving a triumph was considered a great honour for Roman
generals. They generals would get drawn in a chariot. The plunder he had won
would follow him, as well as people he had taken captive. The general s troops
would also follow him through the streets until he arrived at the Temple of Jupiter
where he offered a sacrifice to the god. Throughout modern history, many rulers
looked back at Romeat how they celebrated their victories. Other monarchs, dynasts,
and autocrats wanted to celebrate as the Romans did. Even Napoleon imitated a
Roman triumph when he carried what he had taken
Islamic Financial System And Islamic Institutions
INTRODUCTION An Islamic Financial system could be simply defined as a
financial system that is based on the principles and values of Islam which mops up
riba and guarantees a profit sharing mechanism. Islamic Financial system has
developed over past decades as an indication of Islamic Worldwide view represented
by the Shari ah. The profound basis of Islamic financial system surpasses the
interaction of factors of production and the behaviour of the economy. (Iqbal 1997)
Shari ah is the foundation on which Islamic finance is built. The mainstay of the
Islamic Financial system is the linkage between economic activities in the Islamic
financial system and the real sector. The constancy of currency is furthered in an
Islamic financial system because money is not regarded as a commodity. Islamic
finance is equity based, asset backed, ethical, sustainable, environmentally and
socially responsible finance. It promotes risk sharing, connects the financial sector
with the real economy, and emphasizes financial inclusion and social welfare .
(World Bank) Islamic financial system advocates the highest level of governance and
transparency because it is guided by principles of the Shari ah. Generally, in any
economy, financial systems (conventional and Islamic) exist in order to raise funds
and channel these funds into productive financial and economic activities. Thus,
financial systems also perform the function of mobilising surplus funds from
economic agents and institutions and
Examples Of Propaganda In 1984
Propaganda is used as a powerful tool in order to persuade and manipulate the
general public into believing in another s opinion. This device is mainly used by the
government to promote warfare, political figures, and specific ideals. However,
propaganda is not always used for positive feedback. This form of advertisement can
enlist fear, suppress, and brainwash the population. In the novel 1984, propagandais
used in this manner of negativity. A few examples of this form of publicity is the
language of Newspeak, the Party s slogan, and the two minute hate. Nevertheless, the
government conveys information through propaganda because it is a more
subliminal way to get into one s conscious. If a body of government orders someone

bleating voice that came from the screen (Orwell 14). It acted as a way to shift
tension and hatred away from the society of Oceania itself and force it onto
someone else. The Party also started to teach this concept to children through,

the childhood itself. These early development stages of life are crucial, and whatever

Japanese Animation and Identity Essay
Japanese Animation and Identity
In Orientalism, Edward Said claims that, as much as the West itself, the Orient is an
idea that has a history and a tradition of thought, imagery, and vocabulary that have
given it reality and presence in and for the West (5). The complex network of
political, economical, academic, cultural, or geographical realities of the Orient
called Orientalism is a way of coming to terms with the Orient, or to be less
geographically specific, the Other. Although Said defines Orientalism to be
specifically Franco British experience in the Arab world, his basic arguments can be
applied to the process of Othering in a more general sense. Especially his idea of
representation plays a central role in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, not only construction but deconstruction of the dubious entity Orient
require the West (the Orient s agent) to speak for the Orient. Another problem is
what Said calls a triumph of Orientalism (323) today, the major source of which is
no longer Britain or France, but the United States, the democratically totalizing
economy power. It means cultural domination on the one hand ( Orientals educated
in the United States repeat the Orientalist clichГ©), and economic absorption of
poor nations on the other (consumerism in the Orient). A simple example Said
takes up is the paradox of an Arab regarding himself as an Arab of the sort put out
by Hollywood (325). The Orient, in short, playacts its image as imagined by the
West. This is far more problematic than the former form of Orientalism because the
subject position of an Oriental is now realized only as the subject that (re )presents
itself as the Other before the Western eyes, as imagined by the West: and this Western
gaze is what the Oriental subject identifies her/himself. It is disappointing in a sense
that Said does not develop his arguments more than the idea that this phenomenon of
cultural domination is only the Orient s
Rhetorical Analysis Of Inch By Inch
Inch by Inch In a fitting model of a persuasive speech, the movie Any Given
Sunday includes a key speech, Inch by Inch , given by Al Pacino s character. The
speech is given to a team of football players in need of encouragement to face an
intimidating game. The structure of his speech, his confidence in delivering it,
and inspirational references to his own life makes the speech motivational and
inspiring to the directed audience. This persuasion is a perfect example of ethos,
pathos, and logos. The coach starts his speech by expressing how he is
overwhelmed with their given situation. He reflects to his players the feelings they
have. Through this, he is seemingly an experienced model for his players and
displays his many flaws and mistakes. With a change of confidence though, he
shifts focus on himself to appear more wise than flawed. He begins displaying
strong spirit and experience. He started off his motivational speech by using ethos
so his players would think of him as a credible person. The first thing Pacino says
that makes him sound credible is Now I can t do it for you. I m too old. By talking
about his age, he reassures his players that he has been through a lot in his life and
has gain much knowledge from his experiences. Then he talks about how he, Made
every wrong choice a middle aged man could make, and how he, pissed away all his
money. He concludes his sob story with a quote saying he has chased off anyone
who has ever loved him. Pacino is

Realism In Umberto D
The Italian Neo realist film Umberto D directed by Vittorio De Sica follows the life
of elderly Umberto Domenico Ferrari, a pensioner struggling to get by after
pensions have been reduced post World War II. In the aftermath of major tragedy
and suffering, such as the war that Umberto lived through, hope can be hard to find.
Society is a web of dependence. Individuals rely on the government to provide a
support structure of benefits and protection. Individuals count on each other for love
and validation. When one strand of the web collapses, disaster can result. In this
case, the government let Umberto down by not providing his pension. His life tilts
on the edge, but the dependence of his dog brings it back into balance. Umberto D

Ebola Epidemic Analysis
Background Information: Diseases have emerged and reemerged throughout history,
claiming thousands of lives. The infectious and/or contagious nature of a disease
allows for its rapid spread throughout a population, and thus, able to escalate quickly
and claim a large portion of the population before they are contained. Diseases such
as Ebolaor AIDS are usually fatal, and their lack of available treatment fill people
with dread and fear. The most recent outbreak of Ebola in 2014 experienced by the
South African countries, especially Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea, is the largest

In this hypothetical situation, I will assume that 1 person has arrived in Oakville,
carrying the ebola virus (assuming that they are able to pass undetected by the
medical immigration authorities, at the port of land of the foreign country). As
there has never been an ebola epidemic in Oakville, I will assume that there are no
individuals who are immune to this disease, thus, the entire population of
Oakville, except for the 1 infected person is at risk of being infected by the disease.
Then, I will use the Kermack McKendrick model to derive an exponential equation,
which will model the spread of this virus throughout Oakville. Using this equation,
I will be able to find the time required, in days, for the entire population to be
affected by the virus. I will define the point at which the entire population is
affected by the virus, to be that point at which there are no more susceptible people
remaining who are at risk of being infected by the disease. This means that all the
people are distributed within the categories of either being infected or recovered
with immunity, or dead. I will then compare my results to those of case studies, of
countries such as Sierra Leone and Liberia which were affected in the 2014
Sin And Redemption In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel...
Sin and Redemption Every novel has characters who have certain flaws, making them
do something that can change the entirety of the story. The main theme in The
Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is that of sin and redemption, and the actions
of certain characters shapes the work as a whole. These characters, like Hester, will
commit great sins, forcing them to carry around their guilt with them until they
redeem themselves for it. However, this doesn t always happen. Some characters, like
Dimmesdale, never get the chance to redeem themselves, which forces them to live
with their guilt and sin for the rest of their life. The Scarlet Letterdeals with the acts of
sin committed by the novel s main character, Hester Prynne. She commits what the
Puritan society believes is the worst sin any person can commit, adultery. Though
Hester believes what she did isn t that bad, her society views her actions as the
work of the devil. They lock her up in prison and force her to wear a scarlet letter A
(Hawthorne 27) on her breast to show the world what she had done. After years of
wearing the scarlet letter, Hester finally accepts it as a part of her sin, which is the
first step to leading her towards redemption. Once Hester is released from prison,
she is expected to participate in society and help people, even though they judged her
for what she did. In order to make others happy, she... Show more content on

The Role Of Prime Minister And The Cabinet And...
Critically analyse both the roles of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet and the
relationship between them. Discuss whether the Government s involvement in the
performance of the functions of Parliament is appropriate or excessive for a system
of checks and balances
This essay will start with a brief introduction on the duties of the Prime Minister and
his Cabinet and how they conjunct, following by an explanation on how the system
of check and balances works as well as to examine if the powers are distributing
accordingly.
The Prime Minister
The Prime Minister is the chairman of the cabinet as well as the head of the
British government, a person who is most likely to be the leader of the majority
party in the House of Commons and is directly appointed by the monarch to the
office of Prime Minister. He or she acts as the face and voice of the government in
front of the media and has assumed responsibility for all the decisions and policies
made by the body.
The PM s duties mainly fall into three areas. He is the chief executive, the chief
ambassador, a link between the government and the sovereign. As the chief of the
executive branch, an organ devoted to governance the country and authorised to
executes or enforces law drawn up by the legislature, he is responsible for overseeing
and organizing the work of various government departments that deals with a great
diversity of governmental matters such as running the National Health Service or

Theme Of Childhood In The Kite Runner
I realized the impact of a setting on childhood when I went to India as a 6 year old
child with my family. As we walked on the streets outside the mall one evening, I
saw a little boy lifting rocks and begging for money outside. I remember asking my
dad why a kid like me was suffering so much. He explained to me that although the
political climate in India evolved from a social caste system, the views from society
have not evolved as much. The prejudice resembles one similar seen in Afghanistan.

the manner in which it can drastically dehumanize a childhood. He does so in a three

This was the case until one individual confessed to giving them the guts of his gun

What Is Operating System Security
Operating systems and security is a broad topic that encompasses software flaws and
malware, buffer overflows, virus and worms, malware and detection, software reverse
engineering, digital rights management, secure software development and others; but
for the sake of simplicity, we will discuss how we can reduce or mitigate that attacks
by applying operating system security. We will categorize these security issues in
relation to the operating systems security functions, more specifically, the role of
trusted OS and the Next Generation Secure Computing Base (NGSCB). Any
Operating System must provide some degree of separation, memory protection, and

Pros And Cons Of Online Learning
Online Classes vs. Traditional Learning As human beings, it is in their nature to
choose what is more convenient and comfortable for them, most of the time, and as
technology continues to revolutionize the world as a whole, the education field
couldn t be left out. Thanks to technology, in the past years the e educationhas
changed the way students choose to be educated; online education has proven to be
one of the biggest booms in higher education. Regardless of this e revolution,
traditional or in class continues to be important in the field. In the following
paragraphs, it will compare and discuss advantages and disadvantages of online and
in classroom learning, pros and cons such as costs, student independency, and success
of the student in both classroom settings.
First of all, taking an online class can save a student a lot of money; students who
take online classes save money on commuting, weather they spend money on
public transportation or gas. Housing expenses, dorming can sometimes be
considered a luxury for some students, since the average amount to be paid for
dorming in a state university is of 10k to 14k; they also save a lot of time since
they avoid the struggle of taking busses or driving from their homes or jobs to get
to their classes on time. According to the article Online vs. Traditional Learning,
published by the University of Potomac The total average cost of a traditional degree
is USD $85,000 as opposed to online degrees which can cost an

Introduction
Professional ethics are the standards set by people in their professions. By setting
standards in the form of professional ethics, people in their professions work
together to uphold their positions and reputations. An organization expects theirs
employees to represent them ethically as they are part of the organization. Policies
are another type of standards or code of ethics set by the organization and everyone
who is part of it is expected to constitute them. Professional ethics is also defined as
what professional choose to do when they face a problem at work that involves a
moral issue. . These ethics turn out to be the guiding principles for to make an
individual well disciplined and highly successful in his personal life which may
include all of his family, friends, acquaintances, relatives etc. These are the specific
set of moral principles that help a certain individual or an organization to develop
their attitude and behavioural aspects that are most probably likeable by others.

Steer Wrestling Research Paper
Steer wrestling, often known as bulldogging, is an event in the rodeo that consists
of jumping on steer from a horse s back and wrestling the steer to the ground. It is a
very dangerous sport. The sport originated from the 1900s. It was invented by Bill
Pickett, a man who was a wild west performer. He came to the idea of the sport in
1903 when he was in Rockdale. He was riding his horse alongside a mean
Longhorn when he decided to jump off the back of his horse and onto the steer,
grabbing it by the horns. He actually did something very strange that day too. The
steer wouldn t do what he wanted, so he bit its lower lip until it eventually fell to the
ground. To this day, lip biting is strictly against the rules in the rodeos.

Its all about competition and who can be better. At least, that s what most people
think. Some people actually feel like the rodeo is a fun, upbeat environment. They
don t care about who they beat and who they don t. Now steer wrestling, that s all
about the competition. Some people go to major extremes to be the best of the
best. Being the best of the best is not all the rodeo is about. Sometimes its about
good friends, time with your horse, and something to take your mind off of
everything. , (Peterson). Sometimes the rodeo sports seem too extreme for some
people. One would think they were abusing the animals. The steer wrestling sport
does seem a little harsh, but it s a sport people have fun doing. Steer wrestling is
still a big sport to this day. Steve Duhon, the holder of the longest standing WNFR
record with his 3.0 second time. In the 2017 NFR, a man named Tyler Pearson,
made over $265,000, holding the top world standing spot. The sport is mostly
about showing who s stronger and who s not. That s why it becomes so competitive.
To this day, steer wrestling is still a huge part of the rodeos that go on in towns all

Comparing Quinceanera And We Real Cool
Quinceanera by Judith Ortiz Cofer and We Real Cool by Gwendolyn Brooks are
two poems that describe different coming of age circumstances. Although some
aspects of the poems language usage are similar, the two poems are rather different
in the aspects of narration and plot. Frankly, the two poems are very different in
their syntax and language usage. Quinceanera is very descriptive: I am to wash
my own clothes and sheets from this day on, as if the fluids of my body were poison,
as if the trickle of blood I believe travels from my heart to the world were shameful
(11 16). In contrast, Brooks is rather precise and terse with her words: We real cool.
We left school (1 2). However, both poems utilize enjambment and carry sentences
Why Television Is The Extension Of Human Senses Along
With...
Introduction In this day and age, television is seen as the most useful technology in
the world where we get enough information, entertainment and knowledge. People
believe that it is more preferable to have a television rather than to watch a live play
in the theatre due to the freedom of relaxation and high level of participation. In this
essay, Marshall McLuhan s technology is the extension of human senses along with
Walter Benjamin s reproduction of art would be analyzed. The main of this essay is
to analyze two theoretical concepts and compare them to one another in relation to
televisionand also how these two theoretical concepts would approach television as a
technology. Television is a machine with a screen, which is used for... Show more

Then in 1906, Philo Taylor Farnsworth who was twenty one years old at that time
invented electrical Television on September 7th, 1927. During that time, electrical
television was still black and white; later on colour television was first introduced in
the United States in 1953. Television moved from just news and silent films to soap
operas, cartoons, music videos and other types of informational and entertainment
things which influences us positively and negatively.
Theories
Marshall McLuhan, who was a Canadian communication theorist, was very much
interested in technology and how it shapes the advanced modern society. His very
famous theory was the medium is the message which means that the resource used or
mode through which they are presenting shows the message, not really the content.
This theory then leads to how technology is seen as an extension to human senses.
McLuhan stated, Media have powerful effects on societies. Moreover, media become
extensions of ourselves; extensions of our human senses (Laughey, 2010, p. 33). Just
like the way our eyes see, our nose smell, our skin feels and our other senses have
their function, McLuhan emphasis the fact that technology is the extension of our
psychological, social and intellectual (inner) senses. In relation to Television as a
technology, McLuhan would agree that technology is an extension to our human sense
due to the fact that in recent days it is something that is used everyday. Humans use

Initial FEAF Missions
Initial FEAF missions were the transportation of Army and Marine units and
equipment from Japan to South Korea, the evacuation of American civilian nationals,
and obtaining significant intelligence through aerial reconnaissance of North Korean
troop movements south. Fighter bomber ground attack missions by Japan based F
80Cs significantly slowed the North Korean Army s advance during July 1950. On
13 July, the FEAF Bomber Command took over command of the 19th Bombardment
Group and of the 22nd and 92nd Bombardment Groups which had been transferred
from Strategic Air Command (SAC) bases in the United Statesto Japan. These B 29
Superfortress units were used in tactical attacks which were not very successful.[10]

The 31st Strategic Reconnaissance Group completed the team. The 92nd and 98th
BGs and the 31st SRG operated from bases in Japan, whereas the 19th, 22nd, and
307th BGs were based in Okinawa. Five major industrial centers in North Korea
were earmarked for attack. This sort of mission is what the B 29 had been
designed for, and by early September, all known industrial facilities in North Korea
had been destroyed except for some oil storage facilities at Rashin, which was
considered too close to the Soviet border to risk an attack. By late September, all 18
strategic targets in North Korea had been destroyed, and the B 29 Force now turned
to secondary targets.[10]
Along with the SAC B 29 units, Tactical Air Command (TAC) deployed numerous
fighter, fighter bomber, tactical bomber, transport and support units to FEAF.
TAC Lockheed F 80C Shooting Star and Republic F 84E Thunderjets units
deployed to FEAF to rapidly gain control of the air from the Korean People s Armed
Forces Air Corps (KPAFAC). For a time in August and September 1950, all FEAF
flying units had to fly from bases in Japan. The only continuously usable tactical
base in Korea was Taegu (K 2), which the FEAF used as a staging field to refuel and
arm tactical
Alfred Hitchcock Rear Window Essay
Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window is a voyeuristic point of view (POV) style of
filming. The point of view captures the intimate details of the neighbors lives
through the view of Jimmy Stewarts character L. B. Jefferies (Jeff). Hitchcock set
the tone for movies of the POV style. There are many films today that have used the
same POV techniques, such as 2007 s Disturbia, directed by D.J. Caruso, who was
inspired by Rear Window. Although the setting are different, Disturbia gives the
audience the view from the aspect of a teenager, Kale Brecht (Shia LaBeouf), who
under house arrest starts spying on his neighbors. When one night he watches his
neighbor dispose of what he thinks is body (Cooper, 2012). These two movies
while similar, differ as well. Rear Window, I felt for its time was somewhat risquГ©
for its time period. The suggestion of intimacy with many of the neighbor s and a
young woman baring her back while changing. Hitchcock did a remarkable job of
capturing the emotions and mise en scГ©ne surrounding the main character Jeff in

While Rear Window is filmed total on a studio set as was most of the studio style era
movies. The studio style movies reminds me of a theater stage. While, contemporary
movies brings the audience into the modern world with technology of modern film
making. The studio style films similar to Casablanca, had great story lines and film
techniques, but because they were constrained to filming on a set were limited in the
amount of action they could portray. Whereas, contemporary movies bring the
audience right to the action often on

  • 2. Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl Sparknotes 1.The most memorable part in the Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl is the portion about Linda s hiding for nearly seven years (Jacobs122) in a place that is not even bearable for mosquitoes to enter (101). Reading chapter after chapter about Linda hiding in such an uncomfortable space was enough to make my hatred for slaveryeven worse than I had ever imagined. For freedom, she lay day after day in a place that she was unable to stand up and easily move around in (96). I thought about how she was so close to her children, but unable to share their young lives (96). I could almost feel the cold and heat from the open exposure of the thin shingle roof (98). This tears at my thoughts beyond my understanding. It is most... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even the master was laden with fear because murder was so common (41). As for others, infants [were] smothered (46), slave girls are raised in an atmosphere of licentiousness (45), and valuable slaves receive the treatment of a dog (43) and are never acknowledge as human beings. Even the kind Mr. Sands does not keep his word and follows the ways of a slave owner. 3.Slavery was oppression at the core. Many slaves who attempted escaping were chased down by bloodhounds...[that] literally tore the flesh from [their] bones (41). Others were so oppressed that they lacked the strength and means of escape. Others who thought about escaping saw only the danger, danger associated with their life and danger associated with their position. Some slaves stayed because they never really knew the reality of slavery, they had never felt slavery (45). Some who attempted to escape were placed in jail and others were sold (45). Slaves were not only enslaved by their owners, but by their own knowledge and experiences. I believe many choose not to escape because they respected their life and wanted to preserve it as long as they possible could. Some slaves stayed because they had family and friends that begged them to stay (77). Some slaves who escaped were strong willed and had enduring strength to leave family, friends, and everything they knew for a better life (25). I may be wrong, but I believe we are all ultimately responsible for
  • 3. Violations Of Parole Supervision Are Technical Violations Studies have found that many violations of parole supervision are technical violations instead of the parole reoffending. Technical violations can range from a curfew to stipulations that the parole must not drink alcohol or be in a house that contains alcohol. These technical violations, while some may consider small or insignificant violation, can cause hardships and negative outcomes for the parolee. These technical parole terms are put in place to hopefully lessen the likelihood that the parolee will reoffend. For example, the members justice system may believe that parolees are more at risk to reoffend when drunk thus they place the parolee under strict instructions to not consume any alcohol or even be in the presence of alcohol to hopefully help curb temptation to drink. The members of the justice system may also want to help the parolee stay away from the negative and deviant life they were living before prison. To accomplish this the parole board might put in the parole terms that the parolee is not allowed to associated with current or past known gang members. The technical parole term of not drinking may also be a way the parole board is trying to keep the parolee from going back to their old lifestyle of crime. When the parolee drinks they are less in control of their actions and may go back to hanging out with their old deviant friends. The parolee may also have less control of their anger and may go back to their habit of being violent. These parole terms

Kristallnacht, literally translated to Night of Crystals, is also known as Night of Broken Glass. In 1938, violent anti Jews invaded and destroyed Germany, and areas of Austria and Czechoslovakia. SA and Hitler Youth units throughout Germanyand the annexed areas, destructed any Jewish owned businesses, houses, synagogues, cemeteries, hospitals, and schools. Kristallnacht, a very important event in time, should be included and displayed in the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Ever since 1933, German Jews were subjected to repressive policies, ever since Adolf Hitlerbecame chancellor of Germany. Before Kristallnacht, Nazi policies have been mainly non violent and mild. German officials said that Kristallnacht erupted as a spontaneous outburst of public sentiment in response to the assassination of Ernst vom Rath (USHMM). Vom Rath was a German embassy official who was stationed in Paris. On November 7, 1938, Herschel Grynszpan, a 17 year old Polish Jew, shot Ernst vom Rath. After the citizens of Germany took part in that night of violence, it alerted the Nazis that the German population was ready to take more radical measures on eliminating Jews. The Nazi regime grew, and more radical measures and laws were taken in order to extract Jews completely from the German economy and social life. The regime moved eventually toward policies of forced emigration, and finally toward the realization of a Germany free of Jews (judenrein) by deportation of the Jewish population to the East (USHMM). The violence of the night of broken glass notified German Jews that this was not a temporary issue, but would only get

  • 7. The Classic Play Antigone Over the past couple months, our English 9 class read and acted out the classic play Antigone. It was both scary and romantic. The many arguments carried out through this play added the extra bit of drama which I actually really liked. However, I did not like how the chorus made it clear that all that had happened had affected no else outside of the royal family in the last speech of the play. It made the whole story seem kind of pointless which I was not too fond of. I really related to Antigonebecause I m a very stubborn person as well, and I m not one for taking criticism well, so her reckless actions reminded me quite a bit of myself. I also realized how brave she was, and I couldn t help but think of myself again because I ve gone through

To give an example of a rating would be like the big internet search company Google would be given a rating like AA+ i.e. a high grade. Many of these CDOs however were given good ratings such as AAA+ the highest rating possible given by any rating agency. These CDOs did not deserve the rating as the CDOs were made of mortgages of lenders who were unable to pay their mortgage. The reason for such a high rating was simple. In the past, rating agencies were paid by the buyer to rate the assets they were going to invest in. In 1970s however, the systems changed and now it was the seller that was paying the agency for the ratings, on a per rating basis. This gave incentives for rating agencies to rate more and be more generous in their rating. A conflict of interest rose and rating agencies were now earning large amount of profit for these CDOs. They were more then happy to rate them. Moody s earned nearly US$1 billion a year from rating in 2005 and 2006. With an average of $300k per rating why wouldn t they want to rate more? Aside from that, they had to give a good rating due to

  • 11. Analysis Of Ariane 5 Launch, The Software Failure During Ariane 5 launch, the software failure occurred when an attempt to convert a 64 bit floating point number to convert a 64 bit floating point number representing the horizontal velocity to a signed/fixed 16 bit integer caused the number to overflow (become too big). The floating point number was too large to be represented in 16 bit (i.e. Ariane 4 software) and this hence caused a numeric overflow. The maximum value that can be represented in 16 bit is 32768. And the horizontal velocity which was being measured by sensors was greater than this, and hence the number overflowed. Moreover, Ariane 5software did not have an exception handler for numeric overflow and as a consequence it defaulted overall runtime exception handlingfor the programming languageused (i.e. Ada ) and this default behavior in the event of NULL exception handler was to shut the system down. Since the backup system was running the same software code, exactly the same thing happened. Famous author and software engineer, Ian Sommerville has defended the argument where software designed for Ariane 4 was reused. According to Ian, in fact the developers of Ariane 5 software developers followed the good systems engineering practice. They decided to reuse the software because the inertial reference system (IRS) was exactly the same as installed in Ariane 4 (i.e. very reliable system). The part of the system that failed was actually not required because particular calculation being carried out there was

It is no longer necessary for many artists to hire an expensive 48 track studio when they can inexpensively duplicate many of the same production values by using software programs like Pro Tools (Llommen, 2010). 30 years ago the thought of an artist recording an album with there own financial backing was unheard of. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Master License deal is when the artist leases the license to their recordings to a label for a fixed amount of time and therefore the label has a vested interest in the record and how its promoted and distributed. The label will pay for the records and the means of distribution. The return to the artist on these types of deals tends to be much higher. Master license deals are very common amongst indie labels such as Inertia. It is common for an artist who funds their own recordings to push for a license deal, this is less risk for the label as they have the final product and know what they are investing their money into. It s also great for the artist as the artist has the final product, which they had total artistic control over without having the pressure and input of a label telling them what to do. The term within a master license deal tends to be much shorter than that of a traditional record deal, it will apply only for the rights to that master for a fixed period of time and after this time full rights and ownership of the master belongs back with the artist. There is no advance in a master license deal and therefore the artist does not owe the label any money for recording the album as the artist would have fully paid for the recording themselves. • 15. The Protestant Reformation And The Reformation Essay The Protestant Reformation Why the Protestant Reformation is considered a significant development in the Christian Church. The Protestant Reformation was an event which occurred within the Catholic Church during the 16th century. This Reformation was prompted by Martin Luther s 95 theses which were a list of 95 criticisms towards the church. The Reformation formed another branch of Christianity called Protestantism which is comprised of many different Christian denominations including Anglican, Presbyterian, and Lutheran. The Protestant Reformation is considered a vital part of the Christian Church s history and in order to explain why, this essay will look at three key parts of the reformation: the events which lead to Luther nailing his 95 theses on the door of the church, the event itself, and the consequences on the Catholic Church, the Protestant Church, and Western Society. The first cause that I am going to talk about is the corruption that was going on within the Catholic Church which led Martin Luther to write his 95 theses. In order to understand why people did what they did, one must understand that everyone was religious and no one assumed that it might be possible that what they were taught was wrong, heaven was up above and this was why the churches were built tall, in order to be closer to heaven and god. Hell was below and was for the sinners; and the in between state of Purgatory, for people who didn t deserve either. Purgatory was considered a place of

This event was held on Sunday afternoon in Ferguson Hall at the University of Minnesota. It was held in a small auditorium similar to a class setting. Barthold was accompanied by a student flutist and pianist. A lot of time was spent with the flutist and pianist playing a part of a piece, and him teaching and demonstrating on how to improve a piece and explaining the fundamentals of the music. It was a very informative event/class. Barthold Kujiken was born March 8, 1949. He s a Belgian flutist and recorder player. He attended Bruges Conservatory and the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and The Hague, where he studied the modern flute. He is best known for playing baroque music on authentic instruments such as the flute. He played in baroque orchestras for many years, and then went off to playing chamber music concerts all over the world, where he extended to playing 19th century music. The majority of the event he talked about Sonata s. As we discussed in class, a sonata is a solo instrument accompanied by a keyboard. In this case the solo instrument was the flute and it was accompanied by a piano. The flutist played a major sonata. As she played apiece he would stop her and tell her a few things to change to improve the piece, and she would play that piece once again with the revisions. One of the other things he told her was to play the sonata without any ornaments just the skeleton.

A drainage tube is usually inserted behind her ear to prevent fluid and blood collection under the skin. Pain medication is prescribed and used as needed; she may also use a soft icepack. Two weeks post procedure she will experience numbness, swelling and skin discoloration. The incisions and dressings must be kept dry until the surgeon indicates otherwise. She should keep her head elevated and immobile for the first few days in order to minimize swelling. Stitches are usually removed by day five day, The initial face lift results will be apparent soon afterward. Most cases are performed under general anesthetic in a hospital or may be performed under local anesthetic and sedation. An open surgery technique is used to improved vision and access to the dorsum and rotates the nose tip. A seagull shaped incision through the columella hides better on healing, Scissors may be used to lift the skin off the Lower Lateral cartilages. The skin is then dissected off the Lower Lateral cartilages. Surgeon then has easy access to scrape down the dorsum hump. The surgeon will also remove cartilage from the tip to narrow which will tend to cause the tip to rotate upwards, diminishing that droopy appearance. Sutures are used to columella to close the wound. Many search engine optimization companies suggest clients use the term click here as a keyword, for example, yet this truly does nothing to improve the site s search engine ranking. It s best to use a specific keyword in situations such as this, as they provide value to the search engine. The County Attorney is joined along side a witness, Mr Hale, his wife, the Sheriff, and his wife. As the story goes on, you learn through dramatic irony that it was indeed Mrs. Wright who murdered John Wright. Many literary works have clear defined genderroles, Glaspell use s these gender roles to show the mistreatment and representation of the women in the play. This feminist analysis is shown throughout the play through many different aspects. Trifles is defined as something that does not have much importance or value. Throughout the play, you see the many things men believe to be trifle to women. Such as, Mrs. Wrights frozen preservatives they find on the kitchen counter. An example of this is when the county attorney states For that matter, a sheriffs wife is married to the law (1039). The county attorney is stating that since Mrs. Peters is married to the sheriff that she also holds a part of this title and that she would not do anything to undermine him. The county attorney states that given Mrs. Peter s marriage to the sheriff, she is to never undermine him because what she does reflects back on him. Another example of how the women in Trifles have no self representation is that throughout the whole play none of the women go by their first names. • 23. The Roman Triumphs Analysis In Mary Beard s book, The Roman Triumph, she explores one of the most interesting victory celebrations of the ancient world. Instead of having a small gathering, or even a raucous party, Romans brought what they had seized and carted it through the city. They even brought some people they had captured so that the crowd could know exactly who they triumphed against. This celebration gives historians a view into the Romans lifestyle. Roman triumphs also show what values were important to the Romans and where they found their significance. Using Mary Beard s book I will demonstrate the nature of Roman triumphs by giving examples from Pompey s triumph in 61BC, what these triumphs tell historians about the Roman world and why they are significant, and what they tell us about the values the Romans held dear. Triumphs were a very distinguished ceremony in Ancient Roman culture. Receiving a triumph was considered a great honour for Roman generals. They generals would get drawn in a chariot. The plunder he had won would follow him, as well as people he had taken captive. The general s troops would also follow him through the streets until he arrived at the Temple of Jupiter where he offered a sacrifice to the god. Throughout modern history, many rulers looked back at Romeat how they celebrated their victories. Other monarchs, dynasts, and autocrats wanted to celebrate as the Romans did. Even Napoleon imitated a Roman triumph when he carried what he had taken

Although some aspects of the poems language usage are similar, the two poems are rather different in the aspects of narration and plot. Frankly, the two poems are very different in their syntax and language usage. Quinceanera is very descriptive: I am to wash my own clothes and sheets from this day on, as if the fluids of my body were poison, as if the trickle of blood I believe travels from my heart to the world were shameful (11 16). In contrast, Brooks is rather precise and terse with her words: We real cool. We left school (1 2). However, both poems utilize enjambment and carry sentences

Then in 1906, Philo Taylor Farnsworth who was twenty one years old at that time invented electrical Television on September 7th, 1927. During that time, electrical television was still black and white; later on colour television was first introduced in the United States in 1953. Television moved from just news and silent films to soap operas, cartoons, music videos and other types of informational and entertainment things which influences us positively and negatively. Theories Marshall McLuhan, who was a Canadian communication theorist, was very much interested in technology and how it shapes the advanced modern society. His very famous theory was the medium is the message which means that the resource used or mode through which they are presenting shows the message, not really the content. This theory then leads to how technology is seen as an extension to human senses. McLuhan stated, Media have powerful effects on societies. Moreover, media become extensions of ourselves; extensions of our human senses (Laughey, 2010, p. 33). Just like the way our eyes see, our nose smell, our skin feels and our other senses have their function, McLuhan emphasis the fact that technology is the extension of our psychological, social and intellectual (inner) senses. In relation to Television as a technology, McLuhan would agree that technology is an extension to our human sense due to the fact that in recent days it is something that is used everyday. Humans use
