Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome
Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is only a recently found human infectious agent,
originating in the Middle East (Zaki et al 2012). MERS infections are due to an individual being
infected by a coronavirus (CoV), more specifically the MERS CoV. Corona virus symptoms are
typically acute, upper and lower respiratory infections (Tyrell Myint 1996). MERS like all corona
viruses, are spherical or pleomorphic enveloped which contain a single stranded positive sense RNA
(Tyrell Myint 1996). Transmission of corona viruses typically involves close contact and through
aerosol droplets, usually spread from sneezing (Tyrell Myint 1996). Corona viruses invade the
respiratory tract, and have an incubation period of roughly 3 days, causing ... Show more content on

As mentioned before, MERS CoV zoonotic infections are transmitted from animal reservoirs to
humans (Azhar et al 2014). As of 2014, there were 707 patients suffering from MERS throughout 21
countries, with a case fatality rate of 35% (Sharif Yakan Kanj 2014).). Furthermore, peak infections
appear to occur seasonally, peaking between April and June each year (Sharif Yakan Kanj 2014).). A
coincidence of the seasonality of the diseases is that it is parallel with camel birthing seasons, where
younger camels are infected easier than older ones (Sharif Yakan Kanj 2014).). Although it has spread
some distance (as previously mentioned), the spread of the disease has occurred in small clusters,
typically infecting a family or healthcare area (Breban et al 2013). Animal to human transmission,
such as a camel to human, must involve close exposure of the infected animal, as well as a passing of
aerosol nasal droplets from the animal into the human respiratory tract (Azhar et al 2014). Human to
human transmission occurs the same way, an infected individual can pass MERS coughing, sneezing
and nasal secretions (Azhar et al 2014). Although, transmission of MERS is known to be a sporadic
disease, which occurs between family members and requires prolonged exposure (Mackay Arden
2015). As the transmission rates depend on increased exposure time, and that one is

Brave New World Promiscuity Analysis
Analysis Portion:
Everyone belongs to everyone else (Huxley 29). Early on, Huxley introduces the idea of promiscuity
to reader through this quote. Said by one of the world controllers, Mustapha Mond, to a group of
students, this moment is a major understanding point of licentiousness in their society. Throughout the
book, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, promiscuity is an underlined constant that sculpts the new
world s way of life.
To begin, the director noticed Lenina as a symbol of all the appealing females in this dystopia. Alike
most of the book, woman are just objects, Charming, charming, murmured the Director and, giving
her two or three little pats, received in exchange a rather deferential smile for himself (Huxley 13). By
only page thirteen Huxley is already portraying his believes of what promiscuity will unravel to be. As
readers, we begin to feel uncomfortable continuing to read about how promiscuity has changed
relationships, kids, and the history of promiscuity in the utopian London.
Secondly, promiscuity has obliviously changed the outlook of relationships. Every relationship in the
book has been some form of interactions that would be considered immoral in our world. When
talking about Henry, Linda surprisingly said to Lenina, Only 4 months! ... Fanny went on, pointing an
accusing finger (Huxley 29) explaining to the reader how absurd it is to have any kind of intimate
relationship. We now know that any type of long lasting relationship is not only absurd but unheard of.
Continuing the lifestyle of the new world, elementary sex was being taught to children of London as
an aspect to strive for. The activity gives kids in school time to play around with other girls and boys
naked in a courtyard to become more familiar with bodies of the opposite sex. Tying together all these
changes their world had made, family had been changed as well. ... families, no conditioning,
monstrous... (Huxley 69). Given the last aspect that not only love, but family, as well, faded away
from this society as well.
To continue on the basis of elementary sex, the students were touring the Central London Hatchery
and Conditioning Center with the director instructing them with information about the two

Hero s Journey And Characteristics
Throughout this semester, we mainly discussed the hero s journey and characteristics as an ancient
tale, such as in Beowulf and Grendel. But as we also saw, the hero s potential is present in everyone
with no regard of times. As such, when studying modern stories, we can see that aspects of hero s
journey are still a major theme. In The Matrix, Neo, an average hacker, who might not be seen as a
hero in the first place will soon show all characteristics to become one. As a result we would study in
this paper how The Matrix as a modern tale with aspects of the hero s journey, heroes archetypes as
well as mythical themes, can be considered as a modern example of a hero s tale. Part I: The Matrix,
Plot Summary The Matrix is a movie based on the life of a computer programmer named Mr.
Anderson during the day and hacker called Neo at night, who will soon be embarked in a journey to
save mankind. The story begins when we see Neo asleep in front of his computer in which a program
runs automatic researches on another hacker called Morpheus. As the program searches for
information, the screen goes black and messages can be seen on the screen telling Neo to wake up and
to follow the white rabbit. As he fully wakes up, someone knocks on the door and a girl with a white
rabbit tattoo shows up. Neo decides then to follow the girl to a nightclub where he met Trinity. After
his encounter, Neo wakes up in his bed as all of this was a dream. Later on, when at work, Mr.

The Similarities Between Zoroastrianism And Religion
Every religion has their own prophets, who are able to have access to a higher power, and guide those
who do not have this access. The prophet in Zoroastrianism is Zarathustra. Zarathustra comes from the
line of King Fereydun, a mythical king that Zoroastrians often use in their tales they share with their
children. Many Zoroastrians conceive him in different ways and are not confident on all of the roles he
played during his life. Some titles they believe he may have held are fire tending priest, prophet,
wonder worker, or philosopher. Zoroastrians believe that Zarathustra was the first person to give a
voice to Ahura Mazda s wisdom. He is known to be the author of the Gathas, although there is
speculation as to whether he actually wrote the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The topic is still argued whether Zoroastrianism had any influence on these religions, but the
similarities are intriguing. Evidence is hard to find, due to there being few texts available today in the
Zoroastrian faith. Ethical dualism is one of most obvious similarities between these faiths, which is a
belief in heaven or hell. Resurrection is one of the concepts that many scholars believe influenced
Christianity. Mentioned within Zoroastrian texts are characters called daevas , and may be similar to
the Devil. The book of Ezekiel mentions an apocalyptic vision, and may be derived from Zoroastrian
concepts. The book of Daniel also mentions an apocalypse, saying that, Those who lay dead in the
earth will rise, some will have eternal life, some not. Another similarity Zoroastrianism and these
religions have is of a savior figure. Scholars believe that the book of Isaiah contains a section called
the Little Apocalypse , which talks about God emptying the earth and saving the righteous after
wiping the planet clean. In one of Flavius Josephus s texts, he talks about Zoroastrians converting to
Judaism, which could account for some melding of beliefs. (Rose,

Environmental Conditions In Maus II
Maus I and Maus II, a graphic novel that is broken down into two books, illustrate the gruesome
effects of the holocaust (1986, 1991). Maus I and II by Art Spiegelman tells a story of his father
Vladke, and his experience s during the Holocaust as a Polish Jew. He illustrates the graphic novel
with mice representing the Jews and cats representing the German Nazis. Spiegelman articulates
Vladek s story of how the Germans took over the Jew s homes and businesses, and made them victims
of work labors in Auschwitz. During World War II, concentration camps were known to be a place
where they capture Jews and place them captive and restricted them under tough conditions (2016).
The prisoners were imprisoned and kept under harsh conditions of these camps. Countless numbers of
prisoners in the concentration camps died from over exhaustion, environmental conditions, or diseases
(2007). Since prisoners were not well taken care of, they had weak immune system, thus making them
susceptible to diseases. These diseases could potentially spread around the camps. The horrible
environmental conditions in the concentration camps affect the spread of pathogens rather quickly
because there was no cure for typhus, tuberculosis, and lice (fleas) at the time. Prisoners will either

List And Describe Several Pathogens That Can Cause...
1. List and describe several pathogens that can cause gastroenteritis in children. Rotavirus: is a
common cause of gastroenteritis in infants and young children. Rotavirus is a non enveloped, double
shelled virus with a double stranded RNA genome. The virus is capable of infecting the epithelial cells
of small intestine, leading to decrease in production of digestive enzymes and cell death. As a result of
epithelial cells damage, the absorption of fluids by small intestine is interrupted which leads to watery
diarrhea. [1] Salmonella enterica: is a member of the Enterobacteriacecae family, a rod shape Gram
negative bacterium. After passage through the gastric acid barrier, S. enterica binds tightly to specific
receptors of the epithelial cells in small intestine. The receptor interaction activates a cellular response
results in transfer of bacterial effector proteins into the epithelial cell, following by uptake of bacterial
cell by endocytosis. Invasion of epithelial cells induce an inflammatory response that increases the
fluid secretion of epithelial cells, causing diarrhea. [2] Giardia lamblia: is a pear shaped, flagellated
protozoan, with two nuclei. The pathogen may exist as trophozoite (enable to feed, grow and cause
disease) and as a dormant cyst, with thick, highly resistant walls composed of chitin like
polysaccharide that help the organism remain viable outside the host body for long periods. Due to
this characteristic, is the pathogen able to pass

The Origin Of Tourism During The Twentieth Century
The tourism from its beginning has manifested itself over the centuries in different shades, but the
greatest common denominator was the movement of people to meet their needs. As claimed by
Graburn (1983, quoted in Shaprley, 2008, pp. 1 23), Tourism cannot be viewed as one monolithic,
static sort of phenomenon . The history of tourism opened with a restricted number of tourists who
could afford to travel for the purpose of leisure and pleasure, in particular during the seventieth and
eighteenth centuries with the Grand Tour and development of spas. Over the nineteenth century, the
figure of Thomas Cook laid the foundations for tourism understood as a mass phenomenon. However
with the arrival of mass tourism in the twentieth century marked the watershed between the elitism of
the previous centuries and the tourism accessible to the masses. As argued by Towner (1995, pp. 340)
tourism over the latter half of the twentieth century spreading socially from the upper classes, down
through the middle ranks and ultimately to the mass working classes . This essay looks in particular
the events that have revolutionized the make tourism by European tourist during the twentieth century.
It also looks to the influences that the trends examined had on tourist behavior and his openness to
new habits in relation to the management of his leisure time. The impact of these innovations towards
the concept of tourism in a contemporary way will be analyses throughout the essay leading to a

The Role and the Relationship Between Professionals and Lay Persons in the Process of Civil
Admissions Under the Mental Health Act 1983
The process of civil admissions under the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983 may be viewed by civil
libertarians as a violation of the individual s freedom. The state s justification for such a violation is
for the need to protect the individual concerned or to protect others in society. The Mental Health Act
1983 does not explicitly require that an individual would have to be dangerous in order for that
individual to be admitted to hospital. However, there has developed a dangerousness criterion,
(whether the individual would be considered to be dangerous to himself ... Show more content on

Section 3 allows for treatment of a patient who is suffering from one of the specific categories of
disorder,[4] which is deemed necessary for the patient s health or safety or for the protection of others.
The process of civil confinement requires an application for admission to the hospital from either an
approved social worker (ASW) or the nearest relative (NR) of the individual who is to be confined.
The applications must also be certified by two medical recommendations (one medical
recommendation will suffice in an emergency under s.4). Section 26 (1) of the MHA 1983 provides
the legal definition of the NR. The relatives of whole blood are usually preferred over relatives of half
blood. In the event that there are two relatives of the relevant class, the elder of the two will usually be
chosen as the nearest relative .
Section 114 (2) of the MHA 1983 requires that ASWs should have appropriate competence in dealing
with persons who are suffering from mental disorder. An ASW must also undergo twelve weeks of
training and must also attend regular refresher courses. This is in contrast with the NR, who does not
require any specialist training or knowledge. It is also a divergence from the duties of the Mental
Welfare Officer under the Mental Health Act 1959, who also did not require any specialist training to

Steven Universe Stereotypes
When kids sit down in front of their Saturday morning TV, what are they seeing? Maybe they re
watching Hannah Montana, and they see that their favorite pop star in disguise is totally freaking out
that the cutest boy in school asked her to prom. Or maybe they re watching Fairly Odd Parents and
notice that Timmy Turner always gets hearts in his eyes when he sees his crush, Trixie Tang. These
instances might mean little to nothing for the decidedly heterosexual, but heteronormativity leaves out
children who are questioning or exploring their sexualities. This is where Cartoon Network s Steven
Universe comes leaping to the rescue. This is a show that explores a spectrum of queer relationships
and identities without resorting to stereotypes. Representation like this is important because children
of all identities and orientations need to be shown that not only are they not alone, but people similar
to themselves can lead successful lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Prohibition Essay
Prohibition
The 18th amendment, known as prohibition, had America in fits when it was ratified in 1919. The
government was hoping to achieve a healthier, efficient society with good morals and a break for
women from receiving beatings from drunken husbands. Although the motives behind prohibition
were reasonable, it was so corrupted from the beginning that it never could have successfully been
carried out. America became a lawless period, and many Americans felt that if they could get away
with ignoring one law, then they did not have to follow any others (Axelrod 239). However, it may
have been necessary for the progression of America for it accomplished a great many other feats other
than sobering up citizens. Women fought actively for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it was not only Americans who were feeling the sting of prohibition. Foreigners, especially
Germans, were angry at the movement, feeling that they were being discriminated against for how
they lived (Kyvig).
Alcohol was, at first, relief from stress for men, but soon became a part of society as a whole. Alcohol
was a big factor in determining your social status and offered many men and women legal jobs to
support themselves and their families. It was cheaper than other drinks, such as coffee or tea, and it
was safer to drink than unpasteurized milk or impure water, so it was the ideal drink, some elderly
citizens needed alcohol for medical reasons (Kyvig). Nevertheless, this did not stop the ratification of
the 18th amendment.
When government embraced prohibition, what was taken for granted became lost. Women being
submissive towards men, men holding down a secure job, and the economic boom of the Roaring
Twenties all came to pass when alcohol was prohibited. Although considered by some an advantage,
others saw how women used their newfound freedom as offensive. Flappers an alcohol became and
almost indistinguishable couple. Although it gave women a chance to show their knowledge and class,
temperance was thrown out the window (Lerner 176). As well as women breaking free, jobs were
being broken off, throwing men and women into

Pros And Cons Of Early Childhood Education
The career I have chosen is Early Childhood Education. This type of teaching is at the elementary
level. I would be working with children in pre kindergarten through the fifth grade. To become an
Early Childhood Teacher, I will need a high school diploma and a Bachelor s Degree. After I receive
my undergraduate degree I will be awarded a teaching certificate and able to begin teaching
immediately after.
The three colleges that I am interested in are Kennesaw State University, Georgia Northwestern
Technical College, and Georgia Highlands. Kennesaw State University in located in Kennesaw,
Georgia. It is approximately forty minutes from my house. This is a plus, because it is not too close
nor too far away from home. It is a four year public college, so I would be able to get my bachelor s
degree in Early Childhood Education. The enrollment rate for undergraduate students is 35, 018 (
Kennesaw ). The campus setting is large, and the college does have housing for their students to live
in. The student to faculty rate is 20 to 1. Kennesaw State University has a fairly good graduation rate
with forty three percent ( Kennesaw ). Georgia Northwestern Technical College is located in Rome,
Georgia. It is a two year public school so the campus setting is small. There are 6,016 students that are
enrolled at Georgia Northwestern Technical College ( Georgia Northwestern ). They do not have
housing on campus, so I would have to live at home. I would be fine with driving

Dance Analysis
I cannot say enough how much of an honor it is to dance here at Towson. I have changed as a dancer

that I was hindering myself from reaching my fullest potential. I was running myself down by working

well because I had been having a good week. However, I was not in a place to receive. As dancers I
believe it important to be flexible and able to be taught be anyone, however sometimes as individuals
we resist. I felt the resistance even with Mrs. Candace s class. The first month of this semester modern
was very difficult for me, not because I was incapable but because I was not in a mental place to
receive. Once I change my way of thinking my dancing changed completely. After Mr. Greenstein s
class I made these connections. As a dancer I want to work on discovering how to avoid resisting a
new style. I want to learn how to approach something I do not know in the most positive way.
Sometime we can t control our reactions, so what can I do be accepting.
I am excited for my next year at Towson. This yea I felt I was put in a position to be successful. I had
to re build my foundation and go from there. I am excited to go to dance theater of Harlem this
summer, I do not think I would be as ready as I feel if I was not a dance major here at Towson. Over
the summer I want to work on control and point work. Because I have learned so much on flat I will

Why Do We Need To Legalize Animal Testing
Within the past several decades, as medical and scientific research have progressively advanced
throughout the world, the global market has expanded to encompass a wide range of medications,
chemicals, cosmetics, and other commercial products. In an endeavor to account for the constantly
increasing demand for these products, numerous research facilities and laboratories have arisen across
the United States. However, although a number of these medications and cosmetics have proven an
asset to society, these products are created at the expense of the lives of millions of innocent creatures.
Before becoming available for consumption on the market, the effectiveness of these products is
verified through a series of unfathomably cruel animal trials and experiments. While the government
has sought to maintain a measure of control over animal experimentation through the implementation
of laws, these efforts have been largely in vain. Despite the enactment of regulations designed to
reduce the mistreatment of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, animal experimentation subjects innocent creatures to immense physical and
psychological agony through the employment of abusive, inhumane procedures. Currently, an
approximate 26 million animals in the United States alone undergo trials and experiments devised to
ascertain the efficiency and overall safety of products developed for human use ( Animal Testing ). In
a futile attempt to prevent the immoral treatment of animals in scientific laboratories, the government
enacted the Animal Welfare Act several years previously, granting marginal protection to a handful of
sentient species. However, the Animal Welfare Act excludes nearly 99 percent of animal species
commonly used in scientific studies, thereby enabling scientists to experiment on creatures such as
birds, mice, fish, and other cold blooded species without interference from the law ( Animal Testing

Criticisms Of A Humanistic Psychodynamic Approach
There can be many criticisms for humanistic therapy. This approach can be thought of as too positive
at times, in regards to human behavior. With a humanistic approach individuals are assumed to be
naturally good and will decide to follow the most positive way of doing things, by either making
themselves and the world around them a better place (Mcleod, 2015). Choice and free will at times
can be limited to some people, which then can make the application of this approach difficult.
According to McLeod, Humanistic psychologists argue that objective reality is less important than a
person s subjective perception and understanding of the world . (Mcleod, 2015). This can cause issues
when trying to develop treatment and study it, different factors must be taken into consideration. This
means that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The client centered method is no longer defined in terms of specific techniques or modes of response,
but rather in terms of certain basic attitudes (Gendlin, 1962 as cited in Rogers, 1957, 1959). With the
isolation of schizophrenic patients and also the fact that these patients were assigned psychotherapy
involuntarily , would account for their characteristic refusals, silences, and absence of verbal

therapists had the tendency to greatly increase patients reactions and behaviors, and as such, lead to
modifications in their psychotherapy process. Second, the genuine expressiveness of the of the
therapist is significant as well. It is important for the therapist to express themselves in a way that they
clearly state their feelings at the time, without judgment. It can be said that when therapists take this
approach they have the ability to often solidify and continue relationships by expressing themselves
openly and being genuine. (Gendlin,

Considering the results, one could conclude that freezing has an affect on the toughness properties of
the samples. Although, the quantitative mechanical properties changes by freezing the samples, the
qualitative behavior of the samples does not show any obvious changes in the toughness properties,
which is a macro mechanical property.
This study has a number of limitation that has to be considered. First of all, although the fresh tissue
samples were collected and tested shortly after postmortem, the fresh tissue samples were dead and
their mechanical properties could be different in comparison to live tissue samples in the body.
Moreover, the sharpness and thickness of blades, the blades angles and the type of lubrication affect
the fracture toughness values. In order to make the sharpness of blades steady state, the blades used in
the experiments were preconditioned by passing through the discarded porcine tissue at least twenty
times before the tests. GEM single edge 0.009 aluminum back razor blades were used. Different types
of oils were tested and the one causing the lowest amount of friction were selected for the

Essay about Media Bias and Concentration
Media Bias and Concentration
After witnessing a hotly contested election and the massive amounts of campaigning done by both
parties in effort to inform the public and reach as many voters as possible, one question still remains
poignant: Where do we get our information? The myriad landscape that is the media today, can be
accessed from almost anywhere, and has, in many ways, entrenched itself in American culture,
replacing what used to be standard outlets of information. Television and print news have long
dominated the average American household in terms of being used to access information, but new
outlets, like the internet and film have grown into major ways in which people learn about what is
happening in the world. The emergence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such distortions have displaced objective media coverage to the academic sphere and have inhibited
the democratic process in many Western nations.
In order to understand how these distortions affect society it is important to understand the history
behind the behavior and the methods in which they take place.
The evolution of mass media is directly related to the growth of technology in the 20th century.
Multiple technologies helped to lower the cost of printing while improving quality, which resulted in
the proliferation of books and newspapers across the country. New technology also gave rise to
television and radio becoming household staples and thus prime sources of information. Over the past
twenty years, the development of the Internet has pushed news coverage and accessibility to the global
scale. Mass media in many ways replaced many of the traditional ways in which people received
information and formed decisions. People without access to professional counsel now turn to a
television show or a website for assistance. Instead of picking up the local newspaper, millions of

The Core Components Of The Social Exchange Theory
Social Exchange Theory is grounded in the idea that people assess their relationships from an
economic perspective when pertaining to costs and rewards that are identified amongst different
relational partners. It is within this paper that we discuss the core components that make up the theory,
the possible advantages and disadvantages of its use, as well as touch base on a real world
communication example the Social Exchange Theory can be associated with.
There are multiple core components that have been identified and further constructed in which make
up the Social Exchange Theory. West and Turner (2014) further explain that costs are the factors that
contribute to the negative value we place on relationships while rewards are rather the positive values.
Additionally, West and Turner proceed with the idea that we evaluate all types of relationships by
using the following equation:
Worth = Rewards Costs
When rewards are greater than the costs, or the final amount is a positive number, it is considered to
be a positive relationship, whereas a negative number would indicate the relationship to be negative.
The Social Exchange Theory then acknowledges the worth of these relationships and the outcomes
that will be endured, or whether or not relationships will hold stable or instead be terminated. It is the
idea that individuals enter into and maintain relationships as long as it is satisfying both person s self
interest. Social Exchange Theory is based on the idea that

Casual Employment in Australia
Introduction Over the past decades, casual employment in Australia has become a phenomenon of
great concern. With the soaring numbers of casual employment, the debates about the benefits and
drawbacks of causal employment have become fiercer. Casualization is a very important form of
employment in Australia, which has been protected by workplace law. The majority of casual labor
force constantly contact with their potential employers to apply job and confirm the arrangement of
working time from month to month, or even week to week. In term of wages, causal workers cannot
get paid for the annual holiday leave. However, they can receive more paid than the full time workers
for the same working hours. In this essay, how casual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, casual employment is not the only reason for problems in the human resource market.
There is no denying that causal workers are also important components of labor force, just like
permanent employees and self employed workers. However, most of people agree that causal labor
forces are the most vulnerable group in the job market. When it comes to the influence of casual
employment on the economy and individual enterprises, there is little agreement on this issue. Many
small companies strongly support casual employees, for the payment for casual employees is far lower
than the fixed employees. Some enterprises go even further, which hire the entire workforce from the
casual employment group. Apart from the reason that casual employment can save the cost of the
companies, flexibility is also an important reason for them to select casual workers. There are also
other managers who maintain that causal employees are not a wise choice for all the companies. This
is because many causal workers are poor in skill and productivity with low commitment to the
enterprise. Casual employment may meet the short term demand for both employees and employers,
but it may lead to the constraint of dynamic productivity and innovation. This is not in accordance
with the long run interests for employers. To distinguish the benefits of employers from the benefits of
whole economy is also

Software Development Life Cycle Model
SDLC Models The quality of a software highly depend on the process that is followed in the
organization for the projects. There are a large number of projects failed in the software nowadays due
to lack of a SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) model or selecting a poor SDLC model for
their projects. By selecting right software process model a better and high quality product can be
found within budget and time (Neha Satinder Pal, 2011). SDLC models are tools that allow the
development team to correctly follow the SDLC Steps to create software that meets a business need
(Purcell, n.d). According to Hoffer, Ramesh and Topi: The SDLC is a complete set of steps that a team
of information systems professionals, including database designers and programmers, follow in an
organization to specify, develop, maintain, and replace information systems. Textbooks and
organizations use many variations on the life cycle and may identify anywhere from 3 to 20 different
phases. (P.65) There are different models defined for the systems development in today s world. Some
of them have seven steps involved in it and others have 4. The traditional SDLC models have 4 phases
involved. However, later few of the phases have been further split and made 7 phase models. 7 Step
SDLC model The 7 step SDLC model is a popular model and most widely used in the projects. The 7
steps in this model are Planning, System Analysis, System Design, Development, Integration and

Example Of A News Article Analysis
The news article I have chosen to analyze is an article in The Telegraph called Father kills sons friend
in revenge for drug death . In this news article, it tells the story of how a loving father, Roy Allison Sr.,
killed Duncan Bell, a friend of Roy Allison Jr, because of a suspicion that he supplied his son with
drugs that lead to his death. It was Roy Jr s birthday and close friend, Duncan Bell had drunkenly
given him ecstasy like drugs, which then led to his death. The father had so much overwhelming hate
and anger towards Bell that he had stabbed him to death. This is a very extreme case of revenge
because of the rash actions that Roy Allison had taken. I could certainly understand the anger at Bell
that Roy had, because he had loved

My Observations At The Pacific Center Mall Essay
Introduction: The mall is commonly known as a social hub where people of all ages can go to meet
friends, go shopping, enjoy a meal, or simply relax. With this in mind, it was the perfect spot to
observe, record, and analysis any cultural norms. For this observational report, I conducted my
observations at the Pacific Centre Mall on Saturday October 8th, 2016 from 1:30 pm to 4:30pm. Since
it was a Saturday just after lunch time, I assumed it was going to be busy and crowded. When I
arrived, my assumptions were correct as I saw a lot of people and it was fairly packed. After reading
Poe s The man of the crowd (1840), I was able to observe some themes from the story as well as other
common characteristics which I was also to see in the mall while I underwent my observations. I was
able to witness the isolation of an individual even while in a dense area. I was soon able to distinguish
people based on their groups and actions like the narrator did in the story. I could also see the
gathering of people and groups in certain areas or stores and the overwhelming presence of certain
brands in the form of handheld devices and beverages, to shopping bags. Lastly, the appearance of the
people circling the area over and over again. With the combinations of these themes, the mall created a
dynamic where people of different backgrounds, sociability skills, and genders could blend
cohesively.

Mein Kampf Adolf Hitler
When World War 1 ended Germany was left with an economic depression that made many jobless
which led to a powerful dictator to takeover named Adolf Hitler. Hitler was the leader of his political
group called National Socialist German Workers Party that expressed German Nazism. On 1923, the
group planned takeover the German government in Munich but the plan failed and Hitler arrested for
treason. Hitler had to serve 9 months in prison and wrote his book, Mein Kampf. Mein Kampf
outlined Hitler s plan to make Germany better by reversing the effects of the Treaty of Versailles and
the idea that Germans are the superior master race. After serving his sentence Hitler came back to the
Nazi party to gain political power but the party was unsuccessful

Compare the Endings in Two Different Theatre of the Absurd...
Harold Pinter and Samuel Beckett are two of the biggest exponents of The Theatre of the Absurd.
Both of their works present a world which cannot be logically explained, where the scenery, the
language and the actions of the characters are almost incomprehensible and do not comply with the
previously accepted norms of theatre. J.L Styan writes about Pinter. His audience is made to feel,
through an exquisite friction of nightmare and normality, the earthly need for security (The Dark
Comedy) I think this quote applies to Beckett too, however. Both of the plays I will look at are very
sinister, subversive plays, riddled with dark humour. What is important to remember is that the plays
are not just absurd for the sake of being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stanley, is a grumpy, ungrateful character, I think Pinter tries to encourage an instant dislike of him in
the reader. The conversations are short throughout the section until the arrival of Goldberg and
McCann, we don t find out a lot about anyone. From events in the lives of the characters to their
motives and emotions e.g. we are given no reason for Stanley s breakdown when they are playing
blind mans buff, all we can assume is that it is the work of Goldberg and Mccann that has caused him
to behave in this way. Pinter refuses to provide rational explanations for his characters (www.imagi
nation.com) It is this deliberate withholding of information that adds to the sense of mystery and
absurdity, doom and uncertainty. This is how Pinter builds up the sense of tension because, often, the
reader assumes something worse than what is the actual reality in the play. The use of language helps
to build the sense of tension in another way too; we see characters controlling the situation

Comparing Aristotle s Six Components Of Theatre And Tragedy
Aristotle s six components of theatre/tragedy can be seen the forms of plot, characters, theme, diction,
music, and spectacle. Each factor serves a different purpose for making a theatrical tragedy come to
life.
The first most demanding task a play writer encounters is coming up with a compelling plot.
According to Aristotle, plot refers to mechanics of storytelling; such as, the sequencing of the
character s comings and goings, timetable of play events, and the primary demands of plot (logic and
suspense). An example of plot is in Stairway to Heaven by Gregory Fletcher. The plot of the play can
be described from two main characters, Elisa and Gil who unfortunately are preparing for their dad s
funeral. To add, Gil is hiding from the fact that he has to stand up and be the man of the house and to
come out that he is gay. This plot line can relate to Aristotle s component of tragedy (plot) by the
specific ordering of the revelations and discoveries . Gil s revelation is a specific part of the plot line
that the audience has no perceived notions about until the falling action of the play when he decides to
be bold for his family, but also for himself as he comes out of the closet in an unseen dramatic way. ...

Characters are defined as human characters who undertake actions of a plot, and without characters a
theatrical performance would not exist. An example of a character can be seen anywhere but a prime
example is Romeo in Romeo and Juliet. Romeo is a very determined, young boy who captures the
audience s attention by his unveiling love for Juliet to the point that he ends up killing himself for her
( Romeo ). Additionally, the way that Romeo describes his deep love for Juliet allows the audience to
sympathize with him and form a connection. Without character depth as Aristotle describes, we cannot
experience love, hate, fear, or joy with the characters, like

The Importance Of The Film Adaptation By William Shakespeare
To act is to breath life into a story that is otherwise a corpse, filled with the paradox of potential
energy. Also known as one of the most difficult crafts to master, acting is many things, but overall the
skill of adapting words into a visual experience that audiences then digest and carry with them as they
continue in their own lives. When a non actor thinks about acting, one may assume it is an easy job,
but the conscious psychological work (skilled) actors put forth in their performances is no easy feat,
especially if they are able to come across so authentically that viewers assume acting is easy.
However, acting is difficult, and even more difficult when playing a role that was adapted from a
novel, as scholar Dudley Andrew asserts in his chapter Adaptation in James Naremore s book Film
Adaptation. He points out that because the novel has a large fan base before it is adapted, there is also
a group of people waiting to scrutinize the film once made. This, in turn, grants the novel a greater
sense of superiority over the adaptation, because viewers fans of the novel assume that the film will be
worse.
Although viewers have their prejudices on film adaptations, they normally attack the structure of the
story, exclaiming that film did not stay faithful to the original story; only when a role is poorly cast do
the scrutinizing viewers point out the acting. In some cases, however, the actor s performance is so
precise that it, in itself, carries the

The Injustice Of Our Prison System
The injustice of our prison system In many cases we are forced to believe that the prison system is fair
and equal to all, although that may not be the case. The prison system at first glance seems fair and
equal but after looking closer you will find many times it s not fair at all. For example, an African
American male could spend more time in jail for possession of crack than a white man with the same
amount of powder cocaine (Harmon 372). This is just one example of how society has been taken
advantage of in the prison system. Some people are subject to years in prison although they should not
be while others enjoy life even though they should be in prison. The injustice in the sentencing of
prisoners is an ongoing problem in society, as some criminals get of easy for horrible crimes others
criminals suffer unfairly all because of color of their skin.
The phrase if you do the crime you pay the time has been around for years but what does it really
mean? If you do a crime should you take whatever sentence the court gives you? This is a question
that has ruled the justice system for years but the answer is one that is not so simple. It is taught to us
even at a young age that if you do something wrong you should be punished for it. Most of us learned
that if we do something wrong we are going to get what we deserve punishment wise. That may be
true in many cases but it is not always true in the prison and justice system.
Our country s judicial branch is one to

Explain How to Plan a Small Scale Campaign Essay
P3 Explain how to plan a small scale health education campaign relevant to local or national
strategies.
We first started doing our health campaign on smoking and aimed it on people that were 16 years old
and pregnant women. Smoking causes health problems such as several types of cancer which have
been broadcasted through advertising and several other campaigns warning people about the
repercussions of smoking. There have been many national health strategies to help promote the
negative impact of smoking on our health. One campaign is by the NHS called Smoke Free which is
there to help people stop smoking and give them encouragement to do so. With public health, the
Government has decreased the amount of people smoking due to ... Show more content on

For our other target audience of pregnant women, we dedicated two slides to smoking during
pregnancy and the repercussions of smoking around their new young baby. We gave them information
such as a low birth weight, smaller organs, likelihood of cot death and an increased risk of
miscarriage. After they have had their baby, we gave them other information. This information
included things such as meningitis, hearing loss, cot death, asthma and breathing problems. As well as
this, we also wanted to emphasise the mothers health and how it would effect them.
However, there were many reasons that people might think of of not wanting to stop smoking. For 16
year olds, a reason could be that they enjoy it and that their friends do it and they haven t received any
problems. Even though this is all true, it might not happen to their friends but it could happen to them.
Furthermore, they could also think that it could help them deal with the stress that they might be
experiencing due to their GCSE exams, although, we can prove that nicotine doesn t help relax but it
is instead a stimulant. For pregnant women, they could feel that they saw a relative smoke during their
pregnancy and that their baby was a healthy weight and had no health problems, but this isn t
necessarily applicable to every pregnant mother.

  • 2. Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is only a recently found human infectious agent, originating in the Middle East (Zaki et al 2012). MERS infections are due to an individual being infected by a coronavirus (CoV), more specifically the MERS CoV. Corona virus symptoms are typically acute, upper and lower respiratory infections (Tyrell Myint 1996). MERS like all corona viruses, are spherical or pleomorphic enveloped which contain a single stranded positive sense RNA (Tyrell Myint 1996). Transmission of corona viruses typically involves close contact and through aerosol droplets, usually spread from sneezing (Tyrell Myint 1996). Corona viruses invade the respiratory tract, and have an incubation period of roughly 3 days, causing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As mentioned before, MERS CoV zoonotic infections are transmitted from animal reservoirs to humans (Azhar et al 2014). As of 2014, there were 707 patients suffering from MERS throughout 21 countries, with a case fatality rate of 35% (Sharif Yakan Kanj 2014).). Furthermore, peak infections appear to occur seasonally, peaking between April and June each year (Sharif Yakan Kanj 2014).). A coincidence of the seasonality of the diseases is that it is parallel with camel birthing seasons, where younger camels are infected easier than older ones (Sharif Yakan Kanj 2014).). Although it has spread some distance (as previously mentioned), the spread of the disease has occurred in small clusters, typically infecting a family or healthcare area (Breban et al 2013). Animal to human transmission, such as a camel to human, must involve close exposure of the infected animal, as well as a passing of aerosol nasal droplets from the animal into the human respiratory tract (Azhar et al 2014). Human to human transmission occurs the same way, an infected individual can pass MERS coughing, sneezing and nasal secretions (Azhar et al 2014). Although, transmission of MERS is known to be a sporadic disease, which occurs between family members and requires prolonged exposure (Mackay Arden 2015). As the transmission rates depend on increased exposure time, and that one is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Brave New World Promiscuity Analysis Analysis Portion: Everyone belongs to everyone else (Huxley 29). Early on, Huxley introduces the idea of promiscuity to reader through this quote. Said by one of the world controllers, Mustapha Mond, to a group of students, this moment is a major understanding point of licentiousness in their society. Throughout the book, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, promiscuity is an underlined constant that sculpts the new world s way of life. To begin, the director noticed Lenina as a symbol of all the appealing females in this dystopia. Alike most of the book, woman are just objects, Charming, charming, murmured the Director and, giving her two or three little pats, received in exchange a rather deferential smile for himself (Huxley 13). By only page thirteen Huxley is already portraying his believes of what promiscuity will unravel to be. As readers, we begin to feel uncomfortable continuing to read about how promiscuity has changed relationships, kids, and the history of promiscuity in the utopian London. Secondly, promiscuity has obliviously changed the outlook of relationships. Every relationship in the book has been some form of interactions that would be considered immoral in our world. When talking about Henry, Linda surprisingly said to Lenina, Only 4 months! ... Fanny went on, pointing an accusing finger (Huxley 29) explaining to the reader how absurd it is to have any kind of intimate relationship. We now know that any type of long lasting relationship is not only absurd but unheard of. Continuing the lifestyle of the new world, elementary sex was being taught to children of London as an aspect to strive for. The activity gives kids in school time to play around with other girls and boys naked in a courtyard to become more familiar with bodies of the opposite sex. Tying together all these changes their world had made, family had been changed as well. ... families, no conditioning, monstrous... (Huxley 69). Given the last aspect that not only love, but family, as well, faded away from this society as well. To continue on the basis of elementary sex, the students were touring the Central London Hatchery and Conditioning Center with the director instructing them with information about the two ... • 4. Hero s Journey And Characteristics Throughout this semester, we mainly discussed the hero s journey and characteristics as an ancient tale, such as in Beowulf and Grendel. But as we also saw, the hero s potential is present in everyone with no regard of times. As such, when studying modern stories, we can see that aspects of hero s journey are still a major theme. In The Matrix, Neo, an average hacker, who might not be seen as a hero in the first place will soon show all characteristics to become one. As a result we would study in this paper how The Matrix as a modern tale with aspects of the hero s journey, heroes archetypes as well as mythical themes, can be considered as a modern example of a hero s tale. Part I: The Matrix, Plot Summary The Matrix is a movie based on the life of a computer programmer named Mr. Anderson during the day and hacker called Neo at night, who will soon be embarked in a journey to save mankind. The story begins when we see Neo asleep in front of his computer in which a program runs automatic researches on another hacker called Morpheus. As the program searches for information, the screen goes black and messages can be seen on the screen telling Neo to wake up and to follow the white rabbit. As he fully wakes up, someone knocks on the door and a girl with a white rabbit tattoo shows up. Neo decides then to follow the girl to a nightclub where he met Trinity. After his encounter, Neo wakes up in his bed as all of this was a dream. Later on, when at work, Mr. Anderson receives a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Similarities Between Zoroastrianism And Religion Every religion has their own prophets, who are able to have access to a higher power, and guide those who do not have this access. The prophet in Zoroastrianism is Zarathustra. Zarathustra comes from the line of King Fereydun, a mythical king that Zoroastrians often use in their tales they share with their children. Many Zoroastrians conceive him in different ways and are not confident on all of the roles he played during his life. Some titles they believe he may have held are fire tending priest, prophet, wonder worker, or philosopher. Zoroastrians believe that Zarathustra was the first person to give a voice to Ahura Mazda s wisdom. He is known to be the author of the Gathas, although there is speculation as to whether he actually wrote the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The topic is still argued whether Zoroastrianism had any influence on these religions, but the similarities are intriguing. Evidence is hard to find, due to there being few texts available today in the Zoroastrian faith. Ethical dualism is one of most obvious similarities between these faiths, which is a belief in heaven or hell. Resurrection is one of the concepts that many scholars believe influenced Christianity. Mentioned within Zoroastrian texts are characters called daevas , and may be similar to the Devil. The book of Ezekiel mentions an apocalyptic vision, and may be derived from Zoroastrian concepts. The book of Daniel also mentions an apocalypse, saying that, Those who lay dead in the earth will rise, some will have eternal life, some not. Another similarity Zoroastrianism and these religions have is of a savior figure. Scholars believe that the book of Isaiah contains a section called the Little Apocalypse , which talks about God emptying the earth and saving the righteous after wiping the planet clean. In one of Flavius Josephus s texts, he talks about Zoroastrians converting to Judaism, which could account for some melding of beliefs. (Rose, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Environmental Conditions In Maus II Maus I and Maus II, a graphic novel that is broken down into two books, illustrate the gruesome effects of the holocaust (1986, 1991). Maus I and II by Art Spiegelman tells a story of his father Vladke, and his experience s during the Holocaust as a Polish Jew. He illustrates the graphic novel with mice representing the Jews and cats representing the German Nazis. Spiegelman articulates Vladek s story of how the Germans took over the Jew s homes and businesses, and made them victims of work labors in Auschwitz. During World War II, concentration camps were known to be a place where they capture Jews and place them captive and restricted them under tough conditions (2016). The prisoners were imprisoned and kept under harsh conditions of these camps. Countless numbers of prisoners in the concentration camps died from over exhaustion, environmental conditions, or diseases (2007). Since prisoners were not well taken care of, they had weak immune system, thus making them susceptible to diseases. These diseases could potentially spread around the camps. The horrible environmental conditions in the concentration camps affect the spread of pathogens rather quickly because there was no cure for typhus, tuberculosis, and lice (fleas) at the time. • 7. List And Describe Several Pathogens That Can Cause... 1. List and describe several pathogens that can cause gastroenteritis in children. Rotavirus: is a common cause of gastroenteritis in infants and young children. Rotavirus is a non enveloped, double shelled virus with a double stranded RNA genome. The virus is capable of infecting the epithelial cells of small intestine, leading to decrease in production of digestive enzymes and cell death. As a result of epithelial cells damage, the absorption of fluids by small intestine is interrupted which leads to watery diarrhea. [1] Salmonella enterica: is a member of the Enterobacteriacecae family, a rod shape Gram negative bacterium. After passage through the gastric acid barrier, S. enterica binds tightly to specific receptors of the epithelial cells in small intestine. The receptor interaction activates a cellular response results in transfer of bacterial effector proteins into the epithelial cell, following by uptake of bacterial cell by endocytosis. Invasion of epithelial cells induce an inflammatory response that increases the fluid secretion of epithelial cells, causing diarrhea. [2] Giardia lamblia: is a pear shaped, flagellated protozoan, with two nuclei. The pathogen may exist as trophozoite (enable to feed, grow and cause disease) and as a dormant cyst, with thick, highly resistant walls composed of chitin like polysaccharide that help the organism remain viable outside the host body for long periods. Due to this characteristic, is the pathogen able to pass ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Origin Of Tourism During The Twentieth Century The tourism from its beginning has manifested itself over the centuries in different shades, but the greatest common denominator was the movement of people to meet their needs. As claimed by Graburn (1983, quoted in Shaprley, 2008, pp. 1 23), Tourism cannot be viewed as one monolithic, static sort of phenomenon . The history of tourism opened with a restricted number of tourists who could afford to travel for the purpose of leisure and pleasure, in particular during the seventieth and eighteenth centuries with the Grand Tour and development of spas. Over the nineteenth century, the figure of Thomas Cook laid the foundations for tourism understood as a mass phenomenon. However with the arrival of mass tourism in the twentieth century marked the watershed between the elitism of the previous centuries and the tourism accessible to the masses. As argued by Towner (1995, pp. 340) tourism over the latter half of the twentieth century spreading socially from the upper classes, down through the middle ranks and ultimately to the mass working classes . This essay looks in particular the events that have revolutionized the make tourism by European tourist during the twentieth century. It also looks to the influences that the trends examined had on tourist behavior and his openness to new habits in relation to the management of his leisure time. The impact of these innovations towards the concept of tourism in a contemporary way will be analyses throughout the essay leading to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Role and the Relationship Between Professionals and Lay Persons in the Process of Civil Admissions Under the Mental Health Act 1983 The process of civil admissions under the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983 may be viewed by civil libertarians as a violation of the individual s freedom. The state s justification for such a violation is for the need to protect the individual concerned or to protect others in society. The Mental Health Act 1983 does not explicitly require that an individual would have to be dangerous in order for that individual to be admitted to hospital. Section 3 allows for treatment of a patient who is suffering from one of the specific categories of disorder,[4] which is deemed necessary for the patient s health or safety or for the protection of others. The process of civil confinement requires an application for admission to the hospital from either an approved social worker (ASW) or the nearest relative (NR) of the individual who is to be confined. The applications must also be certified by two medical recommendations (one medical recommendation will suffice in an emergency under s.4). Section 26 (1) of the MHA 1983 provides the legal definition of the NR. The relatives of whole blood are usually preferred over relatives of half blood. In the event that there are two relatives of the relevant class, the elder of the two will usually be chosen as the nearest relative . Section 114 (2) of the MHA 1983 requires that ASWs should have appropriate competence in dealing with persons who are suffering from mental disorder. An ASW must also undergo twelve weeks of training and must also attend regular refresher courses. This is in contrast with the NR, who does not require any specialist training or knowledge. • 10. Steven Universe Stereotypes When kids sit down in front of their Saturday morning TV, what are they seeing? Maybe they re watching Hannah Montana, and they see that their favorite pop star in disguise is totally freaking out that the cutest boy in school asked her to prom. Or maybe they re watching Fairly Odd Parents and notice that Timmy Turner always gets hearts in his eyes when he sees his crush, Trixie Tang. These instances might mean little to nothing for the decidedly heterosexual, but heteronormativity leaves out children who are questioning or exploring their sexualities. This is where Cartoon Network s Steven Universe comes leaping to the rescue. This is a show that explores a spectrum of queer relationships and identities without resorting to stereotypes. Representation like this is important because children of all identities and orientations need to be shown that not only are they not alone, but people similar to themselves can lead successful lives. ... • 11. Prohibition Essay Prohibition The 18th amendment, known as prohibition, had America in fits when it was ratified in 1919. The government was hoping to achieve a healthier, efficient society with good morals and a break for women from receiving beatings from drunken husbands. Although the motives behind prohibition were reasonable, it was so corrupted from the beginning that it never could have successfully been carried out. America became a lawless period, and many Americans felt that if they could get away with ignoring one law, then they did not have to follow any others (Axelrod 239). However, it may have been necessary for the progression of America for it accomplished a great many other feats other than sobering up citizens. Women fought actively for ... Foreigners, especially Germans, were angry at the movement, feeling that they were being discriminated against for how they lived (Kyvig). Alcohol was, at first, relief from stress for men, but soon became a part of society as a whole. Alcohol was a big factor in determining your social status and offered many men and women legal jobs to support themselves and their families. It was cheaper than other drinks, such as coffee or tea, and it was safer to drink than unpasteurized milk or impure water, so it was the ideal drink, some elderly citizens needed alcohol for medical reasons (Kyvig). Nevertheless, this did not stop the ratification of the 18th amendment. When government embraced prohibition, what was taken for granted became lost. Women being submissive towards men, men holding down a secure job, and the economic boom of the Roaring Twenties all came to pass when alcohol was prohibited. Although considered by some an advantage, others saw how women used their newfound freedom as offensive. Flappers an alcohol became and almost indistinguishable couple. Although it gave women a chance to show their knowledge and class, temperance was thrown out the window (Lerner 176). Many of these supplies consisted of materials that could be used for weapons food clothing and other necessary needs to keep everyone on line. The altmark had slipped through the english channel and headed into the south atlantic. This is where the altmark would supply the Graf spee with necessary amounts of oil and provisions to allow the battleship to continue making forays against merchant shipping. The Graf Spee later turned into a prison boat that carried many of the merchants that attacked the battleship. The altmark remained in the south atlantic for a few months dew to engine problems which caused even more problems with being a sitting duck in the middle of the atlantic ... I would be working with children in pre kindergarten through the fifth grade. To become an Early Childhood Teacher, I will need a high school diploma and a Bachelor s Degree. After I receive my undergraduate degree I will be awarded a teaching certificate and able to begin teaching immediately after. The three colleges that I am interested in are Kennesaw State University, Georgia Northwestern Technical College, and Georgia Highlands. Kennesaw State University in located in Kennesaw, Georgia. It is approximately forty minutes from my house. This is a plus, because it is not too close nor too far away from home. It is a four year public college, so I would be able to get my bachelor s degree in Early Childhood Education. The enrollment rate for undergraduate students is 35, 018 ( Kennesaw ). The campus setting is large, and the college does have housing for their students to live in. The student to faculty rate is 20 to 1. Why Do We Need To Legalize Animal Testing Within the past several decades, as medical and scientific research have progressively advanced throughout the world, the global market has expanded to encompass a wide range of medications, chemicals, cosmetics, and other commercial products. In an endeavor to account for the constantly increasing demand for these products, numerous research facilities and laboratories have arisen across the United States. However, although a number of these medications and cosmetics have proven an asset to society, these products are created at the expense of the lives of millions of innocent creatures. Before becoming available for consumption on the market, the effectiveness of these products is verified through a series of unfathomably cruel animal trials and experiments. While the government has sought to maintain a measure of control over animal experimentation through the implementation of laws, these efforts have been largely in vain. Currently, an approximate 26 million animals in the United States alone undergo trials and experiments devised to ascertain the efficiency and overall safety of products developed for human use ( Animal Testing ). In a futile attempt to prevent the immoral treatment of animals in scientific laboratories, the government enacted the Animal Welfare Act several years previously, granting marginal protection to a handful of sentient species. However, the Animal Welfare Act excludes nearly 99 percent of animal species commonly used in scientific studies, thereby enabling scientists to experiment on creatures such as birds, mice, fish, and other cold blooded species without interference from the law ( Animal Testing 101 ). Although, the quantitative mechanical properties changes by freezing the samples, the qualitative behavior of the samples does not show any obvious changes in the toughness properties, which is a macro mechanical property. This study has a number of limitation that has to be considered. First of all, although the fresh tissue samples were collected and tested shortly after postmortem, the fresh tissue samples were dead and their mechanical properties could be different in comparison to live tissue samples in the body. Moreover, the sharpness and thickness of blades, the blades angles and the type of lubrication affect the fracture toughness values. In order to make the sharpness of blades steady state, the blades used in the experiments were preconditioned by passing through the discarded porcine tissue at least twenty times before the tests. The Core Components Of The Social Exchange Theory Social Exchange Theory is grounded in the idea that people assess their relationships from an economic perspective when pertaining to costs and rewards that are identified amongst different relational partners. It is within this paper that we discuss the core components that make up the theory, the possible advantages and disadvantages of its use, as well as touch base on a real world communication example the Social Exchange Theory can be associated with. There are multiple core components that have been identified and further constructed in which make up the Social Exchange Theory. West and Turner (2014) further explain that costs are the factors that contribute to the negative value we place on relationships while rewards are rather the positive values. Additionally, West and Turner proceed with the idea that we evaluate all types of relationships by using the following equation: Worth = Rewards Costs When rewards are greater than the costs, or the final amount is a positive number, it is considered to be a positive relationship, whereas a negative number would indicate the relationship to be negative. The Social Exchange Theory then acknowledges the worth of these relationships and the outcomes that will be endured, or whether or not relationships will hold stable or instead be terminated. It is the idea that individuals enter into and maintain relationships as long as it is satisfying both person s self interest. Social Exchange Theory is based on the idea that ... When it comes to the influence of casual employment on the economy and individual enterprises, there is little agreement on this issue. Many small companies strongly support casual employees, for the payment for casual employees is far lower than the fixed employees. Some enterprises go even further, which hire the entire workforce from the casual employment group. Apart from the reason that casual employment can save the cost of the companies, flexibility is also an important reason for them to select casual workers. There are also other managers who maintain that causal employees are not a wise choice for all the companies. This is because many causal workers are poor in skill and productivity with low commitment to the enterprise. My Observations At The Pacific Center Mall Essay Introduction: The mall is commonly known as a social hub where people of all ages can go to meet friends, go shopping, enjoy a meal, or simply relax. For this observational report, I conducted my observations at the Pacific Centre Mall on Saturday October 8th, 2016 from 1:30 pm to 4:30pm. Since it was a Saturday just after lunch time, I assumed it was going to be busy and crowded. When I arrived, my assumptions were correct as I saw a lot of people and it was fairly packed. After reading Poe s The man of the crowd (1840), I was able to observe some themes from the story as well as other common characteristics which I was also to see in the mall while I underwent my observations. I was able to witness the isolation of an individual even while in a dense area. I was soon able to distinguish people based on their groups and actions like the narrator did in the story. I could also see the gathering of people and groups in certain areas or stores and the overwhelming presence of certain brands in the form of handheld devices and beverages, to shopping bags. Lastly, the appearance of the people circling the area over and over again. • 28. Comparing Aristotle s Six Components Of Theatre And Tragedy Aristotle s six components of theatre/tragedy can be seen the forms of plot, characters, theme, diction, music, and spectacle. Each factor serves a different purpose for making a theatrical tragedy come to life. The first most demanding task a play writer encounters is coming up with a compelling plot. According to Aristotle, plot refers to mechanics of storytelling; such as, the sequencing of the character s comings and goings, timetable of play events, and the primary demands of plot (logic and suspense). An example of plot is in Stairway to Heaven by Gregory Fletcher. The plot of the play can be described from two main characters, Elisa and Gil who unfortunately are preparing for their dad s funeral. To add, Gil is hiding from the fact that he has to stand up and be the man of the house and to come out that he is gay. This plot line can relate to Aristotle s component of tragedy (plot) by the specific ordering of the revelations and discoveries . Gil s revelation is a specific part of the plot line that the audience has no perceived notions about until the falling action of the play when he decides to be bold for his family, but also for himself as he comes out of the closet in an unseen dramatic way. ... Also known as one of the most difficult crafts to master, acting is many things, but overall the skill of adapting words into a visual experience that audiences then digest and carry with them as they continue in their own lives. When a non actor thinks about acting, one may assume it is an easy job, but the conscious psychological work (skilled) actors put forth in their performances is no easy feat, especially if they are able to come across so authentically that viewers assume acting is easy. However, acting is difficult, and even more difficult when playing a role that was adapted from a novel, as scholar Dudley Andrew asserts in his chapter Adaptation in James Naremore s book Film Adaptation. He points out that because the novel has a large fan base before it is adapted, there is also a group of people waiting to scrutinize the film once made. This, in turn, grants the novel a greater sense of superiority over the adaptation, because viewers fans of the novel assume that the film will be worse. Although viewers have their prejudices on film adaptations, they normally attack the structure of the story, exclaiming that film did not stay faithful to the original story; only when a role is poorly cast do the scrutinizing viewers point out the acting. The prison system at first glance seems fair and equal but after looking closer you will find many times it s not fair at all. For example, an African American male could spend more time in jail for possession of crack than a white man with the same amount of powder cocaine (Harmon 372). This is just one example of how society has been taken advantage of in the prison system. Some people are subject to years in prison although they should not be while others enjoy life even though they should be in prison. The injustice in the sentencing of prisoners is an ongoing problem in society, as some criminals get of easy for horrible crimes others criminals suffer unfairly all because of color of their skin. The phrase if you do the crime you pay the time has been around for years but what does it really mean? If you do a crime should you take whatever sentence the court gives you? This is a question that has ruled the justice system for years but the answer is one that is not so simple. It is taught to us even at a young age that if you do something wrong you should be punished for it.
