The Tar Creek Superfund Site is part of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. The Tar
Creek area is where lead and zinc were mined from 1900 s to the 1960 s. When the
mining came to a halt over 500 million pounds of toxic waste was left over. This
waste, called chat, has caused elevated blood lead concentrations in as high as 43%
in some children. When the mines were abandoned they soon flooded. This
resulted in contaminated ground water, surface water, and soil. In 1983, the site
was put on the National Priorities List Sites. The Tar Creek area has been on the

Human Genetic Engineering Persuasive Essay
Human genetic engineering is the manipulation of human DNA to, ultimately, benefit
the human body. In recent years, the debate on human genetic engineering has
intensified. Human genetic engineering faces judgement from many scientists and
the general public, but still receives some support. Nonetheless, this technology is no
longer the plot of a strange science fiction novel. Human genetic engineeringis
happening today and as a result, we now have the power to control the evolutionary
process. We have the power to design human beings based on what we want. I firmly
believe that human genetic engineering regarding reproduction, or nonsexual
reproduction, is a fundamental right. This gives humans control and options over
when and how they have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We know have to technology to create genetically superior humans that are stronger
and faster. We now have the technology to reduce or eliminate deleterious genes and
encourages desirable or superior traits. Human genetic engineering is portrayed as
threatening by many and it is scary to think of the possibility of using gene
engineering harmfully. We could create humans that are resistant to poisonous gases
or war fighting machines. While these harmful things could happen, it is important
to focus on the positives. We could prevent a child from being born with a life
threatening disease or provide a loving mother, who can not naturally reproduce, with
a child. In their book, Population Wars, Caroline Greeven and Greg Graffin provide
two possibilities of human existence, one being the rough trajectory of our lives have
already been set in motion before we are born, that some of us are dealt good hands
and some bad (Greeven and Graffin 2015). While Graffin and Greeven are not
directly talking about evolution and human genetic engineering, their words represent
the argument against human genetic engineering. Many argue that we should not
tinker with something as serious as human genetics and refer to that as playing God.
However, French existentialist, Jean Paul Sartre claims, Man is free, man is
freedom (Sartre) and we should use that freedom to better ourselves and our
societies because it is unjust to infringe on a person s freedom. Humans have control
over how we use this technology and hopefully we will use it safely and responsibly
to produce societies that prosper and
Changes In Renaissance Culture
The Renaissance was a pivotal time coming out of Medieval Europe that was full of
many changes and advancements. Budding out of Italy, this change of society spread
throughout Europe and caused a drastic change of culture. One huge difference
between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance was the difference of lifestyle and self
value. A huge reason for this change was the rise of humanism. Humanism is a
doctrine, attitude, or way of life centered on human interests or values (Merriam
Webster). The rise of humanism during the Renaissancecaused an increased pursuit of
knowledge, less devout religion, and huge growth in the popularity and purchase of
art. Humanism began in Florence, Italy. It involved bringing back the lifestyles of
Classical Rome and Greece. Because of this, education was highly valued again
which caused many more people to learn how to read and write (Ketchum and
Plumb). The ideal man at this time was a man who was multitalented, a well rounded
man intellectually and artistically. The term Renaissance Man ... Show more content

People began to live much more luxurious lifestyles alongside their religion.
Francesco Petrarch, known to many as the Father of Humanism , had a huge
influence on the religious aspect of humanism. Though he was a devout Catholic,
he argued that one could live a lavish life and reach their full human potential while
still being completely faithful to God. Instead of showing their devotion by
swearing their lives to poverty, people would read, write, and even paint or play
music (Rabil 210 218). The Reformation also went hand in hand with humanism.
People were more focused on being individuals and learning on their own, so
religious views of many changed when Martin Luther and John Calvin were
professing ideas about the bible being the ultimate answer rather than the pope.
Humanism caused people in the Renaissance to be less reverent than their previous

Babe Ruth Biography
Babe Ruth lived an interesting life of adventures. George started out as a boy who
couldn t afford to attend a school. His parents owned a small restaurant in
Baltimore, and only earned a little money. Soon George went to an interview at St.
Mary s school. St. Mary s accepted him but he had to live there until he was to be 21.
He saw his first baseballgame at St. Mary s and hadn t heard of it until then. The first
position he played was catcher. He was good at it and played for the Brownies, one of
St. Mary s local teams. He made his first friend on the Brownies. His name was
Johnny. Johnny loved baseball and played on the Brownies as long as he could.

windy spring day, George wanted to practice pitching with Rod. He saw the
Brothers and another man watching George pitch. The man asked George,
George, do you want to play ball for the Baltimore Orioles? George happily
accepted. George had pitched a no hitter for a couple innings. He was getting very
tired. The coach called out another pitcher who wasn t as good as George, but was
still super good. The first pitch, the other team got a hit. Luckily, they got the ball
to first before they could get to first base. The Orioles won the game but not by
much. A few years later, George founded the George Ruth Foundation. It was just
like Georges old school. He loved St. Mary s and often visited it to help children
play baseball. They liked to get his autograph. George grew too overweight from
eating with other people at restaurants. George could not play baseball for a lot of
time. But he got on a diet that helped him regain his health. George also broke the
record for most homeruns hit in one season. He hit 76. He died August 16,
New York City Financial Crisis Summary
A financial crisis is a circumstance in which the worth of financial establishments or
assets plummets quickly. A financial crisis is frequently related to a panic or a run
on the bank. When this occurs, investors tend to sell assets or associated with a
panic or a run on the banks, in which investors sell off assets or take out money
from banking accounts with the anticipation that the value of those assets will
decrease if they stay at a financial institution (Investopedia, 2016). The purpose of
this paper is to provide a summary of the financial crisis of New York City and
Orange County.
New York City Financial Crisis
The financial crisis of New York City occurred in April of 1975. This happened
because New York City was at the point of defaulting on their obligations. This was a
true financial crisis because one of the largest cities had run out of money and ...

Not only did higher interest rates come into play, the financial community required
more detailed financial disclosures. Before the crisis occurred, the state and local
governments had sold their bonds without disclosing much about their financial
situation. Because of New York s actions, it did little to reassure the financial market.
To bring control to the city s budgeting, the Emergency Financial Control Board was
created. The Emergency Control Board had control over the city s finances. They
could control the city s bank accounts, issue orders to city officials, remove them
from office, and press charges against city officials (Dunstan, 1995). The state law
that created the control board required that the city balanced its budget within three
years. Besides the creation of the control board, other measures were taken to prevent
another financial crisis such as this from occurring again. The federal government
became involved because of the concerns over the impact of a
Enron Essay
ENRON In 2000 Enron was the world s leading corporation in selling natural gas
with an estimated worth in sales of around one hundred billion dollars and the
company showed only signs of progressing. Within one year the company went
completely bankrupt and forty of their top employees were arrested or are in jail
awaiting trials. How can a multinational corporation with steadily increasing revenue
take such a drastic fall into bankruptcy and how did no one see this coming? In the
end Enronknew exactly what was in their future and hid it from the public by
allocating their debt and with a loophole in their accounting, it turned out to be one of
the biggest cover ups in the stock markets history. In 1985 Houston Natural Gas

Enron s greatest tool for concealing their debt and in the end was their ultimate
demise was called mark to market accounting (oppel). Mark to Market Accounting
is not totally illegal if it is done correctly which is acknowledging future sales and
revenue with a new operation or business venture. What the Enron executives did
was when a new natural gas plant was still in production they would predict that
their new plant will generate them one hundred million dollars over the next ten
years. However instead of just using this number as a future goal they would
register this as revenue for that year. This would greatly increase their numbers
and allow their stock to rise and profits to be divided among the top executives. To
the outside world Enron appeared to be very successful and a great investment
when in fact they were digging their own graves. Enron s stock and reports annually
improved without ever having debt. These great figures started to arise some
questions of doubt of all of their success. With these questions people started to look
into their books and analyzing all of their data in the reports to try and find some
mistakes, and it did not take very long to do so. Government Accountants started to
realize that their numbers did not add up to their profits and looked into the
explanation of where the missing numbers went (Berenson). Like a house of cards,
Enron crumbled to the ground. Enron immediately went into a crises mode

Sound and music, camera shots, red herrings and tension in the plot. I will also

The film is called Jaws. We get some idea of what the movie is about by this title.
Steven Spielberg directed the film.

Chrissie decides to go for a swim. We get a shot from underneath the water with
mysterious music lasting around ten seconds when the musical cue for the shark
cuts in. The point of view shot works really well with the music, as we do not yet
know what is in the water. The director keeps us, the viewers; unaware of what is
actually the culprit of these revolting attack. As the film progresses we learn to
associate the music with an imminent shark attack.
The next attack is that of a little boy Alex kintner. There are people playing on the
beach and in the water. Brody (the police chief) is sitting tentatively, watching
things intently. He hears screams from a young girl, but of course they are playful
screams. Then we see a man playing fetch the stick with his dog. We also see a
rather large lady go into the water, and finally we meet Alex Kintner. These are all
very likely suspects of the next shark attack. Alex Kintner goes out on his lilo into
the water. Then we get a point of view shot from under the water, but no music.
The shark is not yet there. Something is approaching but we are not sure if we are
being teased or not. Meanwhile we see a stick floating in the water and the man
calling out for his dog. This makes us feel uncomfortable as the suspense increases.
Next we see more children splashing and then the film cuts to a point of view shot
Locke vs. Knowledge Innatism
Locke vs. Knowledge Innatism
In this paper, I will explore the topic of knowledge innatism and define what it is
and what it isn t, Locke s objections to it, and responses to these objections. After
raising an objection, I will argue either that 1) this objection is weak or 2) this
objection works.
The sort of knowledge that nativists think are innate in the mind are truths that do not
have to be learned through experience, such as knowledge of the laws of nature
amp; mathematical truths. Examples of these are: 1) What goes up must come down
(the law of gravity) amp; 2) one plus one is two . This school of thought is used to
explain certain truths that might seem to have universal applicability. Nativists think
that certain sorts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, while this knowledge may be universal, it does not neccessarily mean that such
knowledge is innate, but rather just the capacity to come to know these certain truths.
Since Locke is an empiricist, he states that the ability of the mind to know certain
truth is only innate through the senses. It is through use of sensory experience that
one learns things about nature, our environment, or ourselves.
I agree with Locke s view, because while I may never experience enough to know
all there is to know, I am able to come to the understanding that everything that I
know has come from experience of some kind. Even ideas that are not tangible,
such as the concept of a human soul , are feasible to me because even though I have
never actually seen a soul , I can confidently describe what it means because I have
learned about its definition through texts, conversation, and my own reasoning based
on common definitions this is my experience of what a soul is, and hence, knowledge
is gained.
However, the problem for me is the examples of the infant or mentally
handicapped. A precocious child may learn mathematical truths well before they
are able to speak; one can imagine a child playing with things such as pennies and
being able to count, add, and subtract them. The mentally handicapped example is a
bit weaker but it works as well. The retard may have a sense of what is right amp;
wrong, but they may not be able to

Samuel is offered support to help him self manage his condition and his doctor

Brain s case study demonstrates he was being treated using the Biomedical model.

Analysis Of The Article Epigenetics And Human Disease
Introduction
How is it that two identical twins with the exact same DNA and the same
environment can be very different? (Coutney Griffin 2012) Cortney Griffin
elaborated on how her journey of having twins lead her to a deeper understanding of
what epigenetics truly is. This talk, although vastly viewed in biochemistry classes
including at the University of Texas of El Paso, differs from the scholarly article
Epigenetics and human disease: translating basic biology into clinical applications by
David Rodenhiser and Mellissa Mann. Their most prominent similarities and
differences can be separated into audience and purpose, rhetorical appeals, and
structure and delivery.
Summary of Speech Courtney Griffin begins her speech by saying that nine years
ago, she was told that she was going to have twins. This got her interested in how
much of people s mental health and physical health has to do with nature and nurture.
She took the stage to describe her journey at TEDX OU, is an independently
Organized TED event at the University of Oklahoma. She had been trained as a
geneticist. She was not expecting twins so she joked, what would happen if she put
one kid in daycare and one kid in a drawer. This got her interested in epigenetics.
Even though twins could have identical DNA and grow up relatively the same they
are radically different people, to the point that there are health differences between the
children. When DNA gets wrapped to fit into the nucleolus, some parts are able to

The Conscience Of Huckleberry Finn Moral Essay
In the article The Conscience of Huckleberry Finn , Jonathan Bennett discusses the
conscience of Huckleberry Finn, Heinrich Himmler and Jonathan Edwards. For the
purposes of this essay I will focus on the argument of Huckleberry Finn. Bennett
concedes that that there is a relationship between sympathy and bad morality.
Sympathy : I use this term to cover every sort of fellow feeling, as when one feels
pity over someone s loneliness, or horrified compassion over his pain, or when one
feels a shrinking reluctance to act in a way which will bring misfortune to someone
else.
Bad morality a morality of one s own a set of principles of action which he sincerely

To which I would argue is a flawed perspective to have so much confidence in as it
offers no feasible solution to the moral issue at hand. In the case of the wife, the
husband continues to circulate illegal images online and begins to defile innocent
children. This is due to the sympathy the wife had for her husband, whom she loved.
In the case of the child getting a vaccine, the mother spared her daughter the two
minute discomfort of receiving a flu shot but at the expense of being bed ridden for
due to the flu and recovery time during her Christmas break. Choosing sympathy is an
immediate solution to a problem that demands more. This is why Bennett is flawed

Essay about The Life of Bob Marley
The Life of Bob Marley
While reading Catch a Fire I discovered many things about Bob Marley and his
spiritual influence on the world. Not only just making records, Marley spoke to his
people through his songs and took advantage of the opportunities given to him as a
musician.
Born on February 6, 1945, Robert Nesta Marley grew up in a small village in Jamaica
called Nine Miles, where he would shape his personality and early beliefs. His
father Norval Marley, a white Jamaican and a Captain in the Army, would also
become inspirational to young Bob. When Bob was only 16 he produced his first
record in Kingston, and in 1963 the original Wailers were formed, a group consisting

He found Aston an accomplished bass player, Carlton to play the drums and he
brought in a trio of female back up vocalists called the I Threes, one of whom would
eventually become his wife Rita.
In Jamaica at the time Bob was viewed as a mystic and prophet, and was becoming
the symbol for a nation. Seeking re election the Prime Minister asked Bob Marley
to stage a free concert on the same day as the National election, trying to lock up the
support of the Marley followers and in turn the election. This move however resulted
in an attempt to end Marley s life.
On the evening of December 3, a number of gunmen arrived at Bob s house on 56
Hope Road and shot Bob, his wife Rita, and his manager. The gunmen were thought
to be the henchmen of the opposition leader Edward Seaga. Luckily nobody was
killed and Bob went ahead with the planned concert rebelliously appearing with his
arm in a sling. The following year during a massive European concert Bob Marley
was diagnosed with melanoma cancer in his big toe, the result of a neglected football
injury.
Later in Jamaica, Bob once again received a request from the political leaders to
perform a peace concert in his native land. Not phased by earlier tragedy he agreed
and assembled one of the greatest concerts ever, the One Love peace concert. Here
was where he made history when leaders from the two opposition parties were

Jimmy Herf Character Analysis
In his search for identity, Jimmy tries to create his own definition of masculinity,
but he never finds exactly what he is searching for. Jimmy Herf is clearly a very
troubled young man as he bounces around from relationship to relationship. But
even in his earliest relationships, it is clear that he is not the one that wears the
pants: I m going to eat a small steak and onions. Not if you re intending to spend
the afternoon with me, Mr. Herf. Oh all right. Ruth I lay my onions at your feet.
That doesn t mean I m going to let you kiss me. (Dos Passos 114 115) Though
Jimmy is a working man, he is not really a working man. He does not enjoy his job,

The city itself symbolizes the ever watchful eye of the patriarchy, the same
patriarchy that makes it equally difficult for men and women to get divorces. The
watchers in this scenario are everyone. The system put into place by tradition
remained the same for so long that the societal norm became something akin to
law, and breaking the law resulted in terrible consequences. The society of the
1920s became a Panopticon, a society where the power to discipline does not
require an actual observer (Petrovic 152). No one has to actually enforce the
gender standards as the government enforced the issue of Prohibition. People
existed to keep their own checks and balances, and the patriarchy existed almost
like an imaginary deity. That is not to say that sexism did not exist; it did, and it
still does, but the patriarchy that people feared was one that they instilled on
themselves. Jimmy performs for the world around him based on a set of criteria
that America has been too lazy to revise. Indifference and acceptance (even if it is
begrudging acceptance) is what holds all of Dos Passos s characters back. Perhaps if
they chose to communicate they would have an easier time finding their individuality

8)Kargil Is Suffering From An Obstruction Of His Colon.
8)Kargil is suffering from an obstruction of his colon. He notices that his urine color
is dark yellow. He wonders why and asks you to explain, what is your answer?
I would tell Kargil that the darker color of his urine is due to probably increased
mounts of pigment urobilin, which give urine its normal yellow color. Urobilin is
derived from urobilinogen, which is formed in the large intestines by the action of the
intestinal bacteria on the bile pigments. In an intestine obstruction, the bile pigments
cannot be eliminated by their normal route, so a larger than normal amount diffuses
into the blood where it is eliminated by the kidneys.

1)Graves Disease:
Graves disease is an immune system disorder that results in the overproduction of
thyroid hormones (hyperthyroidism). The thyroid gland is an important organ of the
endocrine system. The gland is located at the front of the neck above where the
collarbones meet. This gland releases the hormones thyroxine (T4) and
triiodothyronine (T3), which control body metabolism. Controlling metabolism is
important for regulating mood, weight, and mental and physical energy levels. When
the body makes too much thyroid hormone, the condition is called hyperthyroidism.
Graves disease is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism and is most common
in women over age 20. But the disorder can occur at any age and can affect men as

Banning A Book Essay
Book Banning and book challenges has been around just as long as books were

Book banning is a way to take away parents rights to decide whether they want their
teen to read that

from other citizens,
especially teens. A way bookchallenge works, is when a certain district or person

the book is appropriate for a certain age group. For reasons like; sexual content,
violence, offensive
language and religion. Although people may believe that book banning and
challenging books
is for the best, other people may have a different opinion towards that. Challenging a

Introduction Have you ever had a chest pain or even something as little as a
shortness of breath and just ignored it assuming it was nothing? Well just those
two things can be a huge sign of one of the deadliest diseases in the world. This
disease is called coronary artery disease. Most people with this disease don t even
know they have it which is interesting because it is reported as one of the most
deadliest. This disease is not only important to me but it should be to everyone else
because we could have it and not realize it by the subtle symptoms. Everyone should
be aware of this disease because simple symptoms can lead to death. It s important to
catch the symptoms, go to the doctor and take care of it early on in these stages
rather than finding out last minute when it s too late. Pathophysiology
According to Porth s textbook, coronary artery disease is caused by impaired
coronary blood flow. This can cause ischemic disorders ranging from angina to
myocardial infarction and other heart defects like heart failure and even cardiac
death. If the coronary arteries are not circulating properly, this will cause the heart
defects, heart failure, and possibly death. Coronary circulation involves the arteries
that supply the blood to the heart. It occurs when the arteries become narrow and
also hardened caused by a buildup of plaque and cholesterol. This is called
atherosclerosis which is the most common cause of CAD. Porth s textbook also
includes that less blood flow
Waldorf Curriculum And Philosophy
DAP Analysis of Waldorf Curriculum and Philosophy
DAP results from the process of making decisions about the well being and education
of children based on at least three important kind of information or knowledge.
What is known about how children develop and learn, including information about
ages and stages and what the appropriate experiences, materials, activities and
interactions for each child.
What is known about the strengths, interests, and needs of each individual child in
the group.
What is known about the social and cultural context in which each child is growing

which helps them a lot to develop their social emotional skills. Waldorf teachers
believe in the creative expression and relationship with nature by the children. So we

How Did The Armour Change In The Middle Ages
The armour in the middle ages changed drastically from the beginning to the end. It
was very protective and allowed the knight to move quite easily. The armourers were
the masterminds behind the armour. Armourers were on the second line out of four
lines on the feudal pyramid. They were just above the peasants, but just below the
vassals. They ate, dressed, and lived like the ordinary people. Armourers made good
armour and were ordinary. Armourers job was important to the middle ages. To make
the armour the armourers need to use a lot of tools. Some tools included shatterproof
hammers and iron tongs. To make it convenient they had aprons with pockets to put
their tools in. They also used different techniques to make the armour. One technique
they used is carburizing which is when they add ВЅ% 2% of carbon to the armour to
make it strong. Another technique they need to use was making iron into steel. They

they wore padded cotton jackets called aketons and on top of that they wore tunics

protective. Plate armour weighed 50 kilograms (100 pounds) which made it hard
to move quickly. The armour was very flexible and easy to move because it had
things called rivets which let the armour pivot. Leather straps called leathers also let
the armour pivot. If the armour wasn t the right fit it d be hard to move even with
the rivets and leathers. So sometimes armourers worked with tailors to make sure the
armour was the right fit for the knight. Another problem with armour was it was very

Biography of John Maynard Keynes Essay
Throughout the history of economics, there have been many experts and professors
whose ideas and theories have fundamentally affected our thoughts and practices, but
none has been as influential on this subject as John Maynard Keynes. He was a
British economist who revolutionized economic thinking and to this day his work
continues to be appreciated and utilized by many into what is known as Keynesian
Economics.
John Maynard Keynes was an Englishman born in 1883, who went on to become one
of the most influential economists of the twentieth century. We know this economist
best for Keynesian economics which is described as the economies success is
predicated on aggregate demand, meaning that there is complete spending in the

On the other hand, Robert Skidelsky, another British economist, seems to have a
different view on Keynes work and the view of the economy. Skidelsky states that
in today s economic climate Reforms should not be pressed prematurely, because
they may cut off recovery by denting business confidence, and they should follow a
deep, not superficial, attempt at understanding what went wrong. (Skidelsky,
2009) He also stated Keynes was very clear about this in the early 1930s. It might
even be necessary to have a conservative budget, he told a Swedish correspondent,
if that would help to get lower long term interest rates. (Skidelsky, 2009) However,
he goes on to imply that although Keynes is correct in his thinking he backtracks on
his notion that Keynes is still relevant today as he states the problem is the same
today: how to carry out a Keynesian policy when most of the key actors have a non
Keynesian model of the economy. (Skidelsky, 2009) Skidelsky goes back and forth
on Keynesian economics and again states that Keynes has influenced current policies
but continues to contradict himself by stating, Keynesianism can at best be a
common element in very different systems of mixed economic

College Station Area Is The Huge Inconvenience Of The...
One of the more dominant problems within the Bryan, College Station area, is the
extensive amount of flooding that takes place every year. Whenever it rains, the
town and a large number of major areas gets engulfed by uncontrollable amounts of
water. The streets and roadways get backed up with so much excess water that they
must close off certain parts of town to ensure the safety of the people who live there.
Flooding in Bryan, College Station is an enormous inconvenience to the people who
live there. This issue can be solved by simply collecting more tax money, fixing the
drainage system, and by coming up with procedures or regulations for future
constructions, so people can build their new establishments on higher grounds. It has
been stated by the Weather Channel that, In June of 2016, the Brazos River crested
just over 4 feet above its previous record floodstage at Richmond, Texas (Tom

flat terrain with occasional hills and slow absorbing soil, packed with large amounts
of establishments that can easily become prone to flooding. During the times of
intense rain, the water builds up and exceeds the limit for drainage in the area.
Bridges, roads, walkways, and parking lots, get engulfed with the water, making it
impossible to get through. Highway 6, near College Station, is one of the major
roads that people use to commute from place to place, and to get home, when it

Cato s Analysis
In addition to training and self control, Rome was suggested to value discipline in
education. Children, specifically boys, were expected to be well schooled and
regiments, physically and mentally. Cato was spoken to have been his son s
reading teacher, tutor, and athletic trainer, forcing his son to fight and brave the
extremes of nature (Plutarch 411). As Rome s military vigor was seen as important
to the strength of the empire, Plutarch hints that it was crucial for children to be
disciplined into great fighters. Cato s attention to his son s education had appeared
to be successful in Plutarch s eyes, as Cato s son grew into a formidable soldier
despite his frail body (412). Education was fundamental to Romans in order to

Essay On The Death Penalty Violates The 8th Amendment
Death penalty violates the eighth constitutional amendment. Death is both unusually
severe punishments, unusual in pain, in its enormity and its finality. It does not serve
as a penal purpose effectively but a less severe punishment. The constitutional
infirmity in the death punishment is that it treats human race members as nonhumans
and as objects that need to be toyed with and discarded. It is thus not in consistent
with the fundamental premise of the Clause that even the criminal who is the vilest
still remain a human being possessed of common human dignity. Death penalty,
therefore, subjects human beings to a fate that is forbidden by the principle of
civilized treatment that is guaranteed by the clause. It is, therefore, clear that

It is cruel to kill a person no matter how horrible the crime they committed is. It
shows people that if you do something, the same will be done to you, it is an eye for
an eye. This type of justice is completely wrong. The punishment should be geared not
only towards scaring others from committing a similar crime, but also to correct the
offender and reintegrate him/her back to the society. Therefore, punishment by death
does not achieve this objective in any way.
Death penalty is also unconstitutional and an obvious violation of the 8th amendment
because there are other better ways of punishing someone rather than killing. Death
penalty does not solve the crime, fix problems caused by the crime or teach anyone
a lesson. It is just a killing for the sake of killing (Bessler, 2012).The federal
government, therefore, should work with state government and abolish this kind of
punishment. The aim of punishment is so as to correct a person and deter him/her
from committing a crime in future. Punishing by death does not achieve this
objective and should be banned

him that wishes to move on, providing a clashing narrative. The founding of Rome
doesn t happen as is foretold in the book; and Augustus is not part of the Aeneid
blood line. Aeneas cannot become the amazing hero he was told he would become
by the prophets because he is dead. At the beginning of the poem he attempts to kill
Helen, and he kills Turnus at the very end of the poem is indicative of just how little
character development he has made, because he is dead and cannot change from that
state which
The Relationship Between Business Strategy and
Information...
Business strategy is the long term operating plan of a company; this plan specifies
vision, mission and objectives through the development of policies. Information
strategy can be used to implement the business strategy of a company; technology
can be the tool by which a business can achieve its goal. The marrying or
collaboration of the two is an ideal, to which companies theorize is the future. In the
case of Jack Lowry of Goldman Industrial, the collaboration of businessstrategy and
information strategy should be in the here and now. (Worthen 2001) Jack Lowry had
a vision of collaboration between companies that do business together. Information
technology strategies implemented at Goldman Industrial would facilitate... Show

The good news for Goldman Industrial and Jack Lowry is that the costly upgrade of
technology is paying for itself in the realization of savings, he estimates saving
$700,000 because of reduced cycle times and increased sales through the e
commerce site in the first 18 months alone. (Worthen 2001) Celarix realized through
trial and error after their initial business strategy was not working to concentrate
their efforts in two specific areas of software and transportation. Celarix now sees
the logistics marketplace as a byproduct of the software and solutions business, and
not its main focus. (Sawhney 2002) Business strategy and information strategy need
not be opposing forces. Using the experiences of Goldman Industrial and Celarix as
blueprints of what not to do, and building upon the bright spots of information
strategy, like the cost savings of Goldman Industrial or the reworking of how best to
use information strategy like Celarix, is the direction toward the marrying or
collaboration of both business and information strategies as an ideal, is worth
attaining. References

Impact of Social Networking Sites Usage on Student s Academic Performance in
Pakistan Abstract Purpose This research paper examines the impact of the usage of
social networking sites (SNS) on the academic performance of the students in
universities. The impact has been studied in relation to three variables acting as
moderators to the usage of social networking sites which in turn helps to enquire the
variation of academic performance of the students regarding that usage. The
Independent variable is the SNS usage, the mediator is the Technology. Methodology
A sample of 300 students was chosen from different universities of Pakistan using
convenience sampling technique. The students belonged to different disciplines i.e....

2.0: Demographics According to Oxford Dictionaries (2012) Demographics is the
statistical data relating to the population and particular groups within it. The
demographics here depict the above mentioned info in both personal and
educational context. Peluchette and Karl (2008) examined students use of and
attitudes toward social networking sites. Significant gender differences were found
regarding the type of information posted. Boyd (2007) describes that teenagers
and young adults have especially embraced these sites as a way to connect with
their peers, share information, reinvent their personalities, and showcase their
social lives. Here we study the Academic performance as the part of demographics
of the students represented by the current CGPA of the student. SNS have changed
the way people from different regions, age groups and genders communicate,
interact and gather information (Raacke Raacke, 2008). This variable is of quite
high importance especially in case of Pakistan where many of the universities are
also situated at rural areas like Comsats Vehari . Also the students in larger cities are
not only from within the cities but from villages and small cities also. 2.1: Usage

The Importance Of Poverty In The United States
Imagine this: you go to your fridge or your cupboard and find nothing.....there is no
food. You go to your wallet and there is no money to feed your family. More than
45 million people in the United States live in poverty as of now. That is 14.5 percent
of Americans in the United States. That is an extremely high number. It is vital that
we take control of this povertyissue at hand before it is too late. The definition of
poverty is the state of being extremely poor. Poverty is the lack of money or
material things. It is all over the world and is increasing at an alarming rate. Over
the year of 2015, 43.1 million people in the United Stateslived in poverty. Also in
2015, there were 15.8 million United States households that were food insecure....

None of them matter, in the long term. I will never not be poor, so what does it
matter if I don t pay a thing and a half this week instead of just one thing? It s not
like the sacrifice will result in improved circumstances; the thing holding me back
isn t that I blow five bucks at Wendy s. It s that now that I have proven that I am a
Poor Person that is all that I am or ever will be. It is not worth it to me to live a
bleak life devoid of small pleasures so that one day I can make a single large
purchase. I will never have large pleasures to hold on to. There s a certain pull to
live what bits of life you can while there s money in your pocket, because no matter
how responsible you are you will be broke in three days anyway. When you never
have enough money it ceases to have meaning. I imagine having a lot of it is the
same thing. Poverty is bleak and cuts off your long term brain. It s why you see
people with four different baby daddies instead of one. You grab a bit of
connection wherever you can to survive. You have no idea how strong the pull to
feel worthwhile is. It s more basic than food. You go to these people who make you
feel lovely for an hour that one time, and that s all you get. You re probably not
compatible with them for anything long term, but right this minute they can make
you feel powerful and valuable. It does not matter what will happen in a month.
Whatever happens in a month is probably going to be just
A New Job With Pinkerton Security
There have been many different things in my life that have helped to shape me
into the person that I am today. Growing up in Akron Ohio, and living on the cities
South Side near Firestone Park was one of my first shaping points. I have seen a
lot of changes in the city of Akron, most of them being good. My first experience in
the real world was when I worked as a dishwasher at the Tangier Restaurant, while
in high school to help support my family. We never had a lot of fancy things, but
we were blessed to have each other. I lived with my mother, father and sister, and I
have a brother who has always been close by. After graduating from Garfield High
School, I work as a material handler at Different Demission s. After working three

In 2002 I was placed on orders to Camp Casey South Korea. I was placed in a
combat arms unit, Charlie Company, 1st and 15th Field Artillery. This was by far
the most challenging, and physically demanding unit I had ever been in. I didn t
take leave while in Korea, so I did a flat out non stop 12 month tour. After returning
to the States for 10 months, I was placed on orders to deploy to Iraq. I served our
great country in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring
Freedom. My first deployment was to Victory Base Camp Iraq that was from
November 01, 2004 to November 15, 2005. My second deployment was to Camp
Adder Iraq that was from January 23, 2009 to January 19, 2010. My first
deployment was the hardest. It was during a major turning point of Operation Iraqi
Freedom. My duties as a 25L (cable installer systems maintainer) to were to install
communications equipment and help facilitate the arrival of the Iraqi Army
Headquarters at Victory Base Camp. The first deployment in 2004 was the
roughest. I had seen a lot of mortar attacks, and lost a couple of close friends. I
remember my team and I were out earlier in the day going around Victory Base
doing trouble call repair tickets on phone lines and computer lines around the base.
We had finally come to a stopping point so we could go and take lunch. I asked the
members of my team did they want to go to the Chow Hall, only one person besides

Before A Tornado Research Paper
A tornado is a swirling funnel that goes hundreds of miles per hour. They include
lightning, damaging, straight line winds, heavy rain and hail. They damage houses
and towns. A tornado can happen any time at any day. Humans and animals can die if
they don t take the right procedures. Some animals have been reported to survive
living through a tornado. You can often notice if an tornado is about to happen. Here
are some ways you can tell how. Their will usually be a dark greenish sky. Their will
be and absence of rain but will be hailing. Sometimes Before a tornado strikes, the
windmay die down and the air may become very still. Their will also be a Wall of
clouds or an approaching cloud of debris.
Women In The 1900 s
Tennis Clothes for Women in the 1800 s
Women have been playing tennis since tennis was originated. Back in 1874,
women played tennis, but they only played mixed doubles, which is when men and
women play together as partners. The clothes women wore back then is way
different then what we wear nowadays. Back then, women had to wear a bustle skirt
and a corset. This wasn t really the ideal clothing to wear on a sweltering day while
playing tennis. This is probably why a woman playing in the Wimbledon, a tennis
tournament which began in 1877 as a fundraiser, fainted in the second set on that hot,
sunny day. This incident probably occurred because that women was wearing tight
and hot clothes while playing tennis, but instead of taking this incident as a reason to
change women s clothing, this incident became one of the reasons why today women
play less sets than men, which was one of the reasons why they got less prize money
than men.

Then, after a while, women s tennis began to look different in terms of what
women wore while playing tennis. Near the 1920 s, women began to wear less
restrictive clothes, but alas, they were still long skirts. Then, American tennis
player, Helen Wills Moody, who played in the 1930 s was the one who really
changed what women wore to play tennis. She wore something that looks like what
women wear today. Finally, women could play tennis properly with being held back
with the weight of there heavy bustle skirts. Women s tennis has changed a lot in
terms of what they wear, and it has improved to the
Pet Overpopulation Case Study
As I ve investigated, the same problem to our city pet overpopulation keeps coming
up; unwanted breeding. Animals, domesticated or not mostly act on instinct. When
domesticated animals are in heat, their behavior changes as they search for a mate to
soothe their instinctual desires. Pet owners usually skip on spaying neuteringtheir pets
because of the cost and burden of taking care of a post surgery animalfor two days.
Most veterinarians charge over $100 (also depending on the sex, canine/feline,
weight, age) for sterilizing an animal but low cost clinics exist, costing up to 30
40% less than a normal vet costs. Unfortunately, the public isn t always aware unless
they do extensive google research. As Leslie Irvine states in this case on pet... Show

Many owners are unaware of the consequences caused by not fixing their extended
family member, even if they are cautious. As Bob Barker always expressed before
ending an episode of The Price is Right , Help Control the Pet Population, Have
Your Pets Spayed or Neutered. Understanding the importance, the game show host
strived to make the audience aware of the growing problem. Adoption agencies,
humane societies, and other shelters should no longer be content to merely serve
the traditional function of warehousing unwanted pets. In doing so, they
inadvertently contribute to the influx of animals in their shelters writes D.S.
Tuber on the attitudes of most city funded shelters (Tuber 385). It may not reflect
every worker s stance, but if more were done such as offering services, maybe the
appearance of this negative view would fade. Houston has arranged with SNAP, a
mobile clinic that does offer spay/neutering services for free, but there s a big limit
on it. SNAP only offers free services to clients who can show proof of participation
in a public assistance program and only accepts a maximum of 24 cats and dogs at
a time. Qualifying residents are chosen from a lottery held at 6:30AM on surgery
day (Masilow 2015). This seems quite discouraging to many, probably not even
bothering to show up on the chance. A more organized service with appointments and
less qualifications should be offered to city residents, especially those on lower
Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe Essay
Love is one of the most powerful forces in the world, and one of the most difficult
to describe. It is one of those emotions that words do not seem to justify a person
may feel it, but may not be able to explain it. However, that does not mean that
people do not know that love is out there. Many people believe that everyone has one
true love somewhere in the world, and spend their lives searching for that person.
Love is not difficult to find though. It exists in many forms, including love between
family members, friends, different races, and even the love for oneself, both in the
novel Fried GreenTomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Frannie Flagg and in one s
own life. The first and most basic form of love is found in the family.

The fact that his grandson is able to be embarrassed proves the success if Jasper had
done poorly, the grandson would not be well off, and would be bowing and scraping
to whites just as his grandfather had.
A more unusual type of love for the setting is the love between black and white
races. The blacks are faced by many problems, especially in the South mid century,
but they seem to jump to the occasion and succeed against poor odds. Idgie and
Ruth both admire and care about the blacks in the story. When Onzell kills Frank
Bennet, Idgie knows that the law would have her killed, so she risks her own
freedom by going to trial as the accused. This is proof that Idgie is fond of Onzell
and Big George, and even loves them if she s willing to take such a chance.
As well, Onzell feels great loyalty towards Ruth she kills a man to try and protect
Ruth s baby. Onzell is almost like another mother to Stump, and a good friend of
Ruth and Idgie s. Another black/white relationship with love involved is the one
between Sipsey and the Threadgoode family. Sipsey is their servant, but they treat
her like another member of the family. She is there for Idgie to talk to, and
whenever Idgie quot;couldn t bear to be home any longer, she d just take off and go
stay with Sipsey over in Troutville quot; (Flagg, p.37). Finally, there is the love that
Evelyn has not for the blacks, but for what they do to her.

In recent years, the debate on human genetic engineering has intensified. Human genetic engineering faces judgement from many scientists and the general public, but still receives some support. Nonetheless, this technology is no longer the plot of a strange science fiction novel. Human genetic engineeringis happening today and as a result, we now have the power to control the evolutionary process. We have the power to design human beings based on what we want. We now have the technology to reduce or eliminate deleterious genes and encourages desirable or superior traits. Human genetic engineering is portrayed as threatening by many and it is scary to think of the possibility of using gene engineering harmfully. We could create humans that are resistant to poisonous gases or war fighting machines. While these harmful things could happen, it is important to focus on the positives. We could prevent a child from being born with a life threatening disease or provide a loving mother, who can not naturally reproduce, with a child. In their book, Population Wars, Caroline Greeven and Greg Graffin provide two possibilities of human existence, one being the rough trajectory of our lives have already been set in motion before we are born, that some of us are dealt good hands and some bad (Greeven and Graffin 2015). While Graffin and Greeven are not directly talking about evolution and human genetic engineering, their words represent the argument against human genetic engineering. Many argue that we should not tinker with something as serious as human genetics and refer to that as playing God. However, French existentialist, Jean Paul Sartre claims, Man is free, man is freedom (Sartre) and we should use that freedom to better ourselves and our societies because it is unjust to infringe on a person s freedom. Humans have control over how we use this technology and hopefully we will use it safely and responsibly to produce societies that prosper and

Budding out of Italy, this change of society spread throughout Europe and caused a drastic change of culture. One huge difference between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance was the difference of lifestyle and self value. A huge reason for this change was the rise of humanism. Humanism is a doctrine, attitude, or way of life centered on human interests or values (Merriam Webster). The rise of humanism during the Renaissancecaused an increased pursuit of knowledge, less devout religion, and huge growth in the popularity and purchase of art. Humanism began in Florence, Italy. It involved bringing back the lifestyles of Classical Rome and Greece. Because of this, education was highly valued again which caused many more people to learn how to read and write (Ketchum and Plumb). Instead of showing their devotion by swearing their lives to poverty, people would read, write, and even paint or play music (Rabil 210 218). The Reformation also went hand in hand with humanism. People were more focused on being individuals and learning on their own, so religious views of many changed when Martin Luther and John Calvin were professing ideas about the bible being the ultimate answer rather than the pope. Humanism caused people in the Renaissance to be less reverent than their previous

What the Enron executives did was when a new natural gas plant was still in production they would predict that their new plant will generate them one hundred million dollars over the next ten years. However instead of just using this number as a future goal they would register this as revenue for that year. This would greatly increase their numbers and allow their stock to rise and profits to be divided among the top executives. To the outside world Enron appeared to be very successful and a great investment when in fact they were digging their own graves. Enron s stock and reports annually improved without ever having debt. These great figures started to arise some questions of doubt of all of their success. With these questions people started to look into their books and analyzing all of their data in the reports to try and find some mistakes, and it did not take very long to do so. Government Accountants started to realize that their numbers did not add up to their profits and looked into the explanation of where the missing numbers went (Berenson). The director keeps us, the viewers; unaware of what is actually the culprit of these revolting attack. As the film progresses we learn to associate the music with an imminent shark attack. The next attack is that of a little boy Alex kintner. There are people playing on the beach and in the water. Brody (the police chief) is sitting tentatively, watching things intently. He hears screams from a young girl, but of course they are playful screams. Then we see a man playing fetch the stick with his dog. We also see a rather large lady go into the water, and finally we meet Alex Kintner. These are all very likely suspects of the next shark attack. Alex Kintner goes out on his lilo into the water. Then we get a point of view shot from under the water, but no music. The shark is not yet there. Something is approaching but we are not sure if we are being teased or not. Meanwhile we see a stick floating in the water and the man calling out for his dog. This makes us feel uncomfortable as the suspense increases. Locke vs. Knowledge Innatism Locke vs. Knowledge Innatism In this paper, I will explore the topic of knowledge innatism and define what it is and what it isn t, Locke s objections to it, and responses to these objections. After raising an objection, I will argue either that 1) this objection is weak or 2) this objection works. The sort of knowledge that nativists think are innate in the mind are truths that do not have to be learned through experience, such as knowledge of the laws of nature amp; mathematical truths. Examples of these are: 1) What goes up must come down (the law of gravity) amp; 2) one plus one is two . So, while this knowledge may be universal, it does not neccessarily mean that such knowledge is innate, but rather just the capacity to come to know these certain truths. Since Locke is an empiricist, he states that the ability of the mind to know certain truth is only innate through the senses. It is through use of sensory experience that one learns things about nature, our environment, or ourselves. I agree with Locke s view, because while I may never experience enough to know all there is to know, I am able to come to the understanding that everything that I know has come from experience of some kind. Even ideas that are not tangible, such as the concept of a human soul , are feasible to me because even though I have never actually seen a soul , I can confidently describe what it means because I have learned about its definition through texts, conversation, and my own reasoning based on common definitions this is my experience of what a soul is, and hence, knowledge is gained. However, the problem for me is the examples of the infant or mentally handicapped. A precocious child may learn mathematical truths well before they are able to speak; one can imagine a child playing with things such as pennies and being able to count, add, and subtract them. The mentally handicapped example is a bit weaker but it works as well. The retard may have a sense of what is right amp; wrong, but they may not be able to

The goal of these messages is to look normal to the everyday person, but to the members of my group, they would see the code and when they enter it to a vigenere cipher to decrypt the regular alphabet message to get the desired message. The message that the member would receive from breaking the cipher would be a password to a program pre installed on every USB used, the member would enter the correct password and would be granted access to the file sharing program that will allow them to grab an important file or to upload for other users. The main concern with this is that the Greek life system may crack the encrypted text and try to enter a password. So, the way that I would counteract this would be to set a time to pick up the information and notify my group of the time limit, because the program would either lock up after a certain time or it would if possible would either delete itself from the USB or move the program to a secondary dead drop location in case if a location is exposed and to also protect the members from being caught. The one major threat of my method would be the adverse weather conditions that

The Conscience Of Huckleberry Finn Moral Essay In the article The Conscience of Huckleberry Finn , Jonathan Bennett discusses the conscience of Huckleberry Finn, Heinrich Himmler and Jonathan Edwards. For the purposes of this essay I will focus on the argument of Huckleberry Finn. Bennett concedes that that there is a relationship between sympathy and bad morality. Sympathy : I use this term to cover every sort of fellow feeling, as when one feels pity over someone s loneliness, or horrified compassion over his pain, or when one feels a shrinking reluctance to act in a way which will bring misfortune to someone else. Bad morality a morality of one s own a set of principles of action which he sincerely assents to, acting well or rightly or in obedience to conscience is the problem ... In the case of the child getting a vaccine, the mother spared her daughter the two minute discomfort of receiving a flu shot but at the expense of being bed ridden for due to the flu and recovery time during her Christmas break. Choosing sympathy is an immediate solution to a problem that demands more. This is why Bennett is flawed in his

It might even be necessary to have a conservative budget, he told a Swedish correspondent, if that would help to get lower long term interest rates. The good news for Goldman Industrial and Jack Lowry is that the costly upgrade of technology is paying for itself in the realization of savings, he estimates saving $700,000 because of reduced cycle times and increased sales through the e commerce site in the first 18 months alone. (Worthen 2001) Celarix realized through trial and error after their initial business strategy was not working to concentrate their efforts in two specific areas of software and transportation. Celarix now sees the logistics marketplace as a byproduct of the software and solutions business, and not its main focus. (Sawhney 2002) Business strategy and information strategy need not be opposing forces. Using the experiences of Goldman Industrial and Celarix as blueprints of what not to do, and building upon the bright spots of information strategy, like the cost savings of Goldman Industrial or the reworking of how best to use information strategy like Celarix, is the direction toward the marrying or collaboration of both business and information strategies as an ideal, is worth attaining. Literature Review 2.0: Demographics According to Oxford Dictionaries (2012) Demographics is the statistical data relating to the population and particular groups within it. The demographics here depict the above mentioned info in both personal and educational context. Peluchette and Karl (2008) examined students use of and attitudes toward social networking sites. Significant gender differences were found regarding the type of information posted. Boyd (2007) describes that teenagers and young adults have especially embraced these sites as a way to connect with their peers, share information, reinvent their personalities, and showcase their social lives. Here we study the Academic performance as the part of demographics of the students represented by the current CGPA of the student. SNS have changed the way people from different regions, age groups and genders communicate, interact and gather information (Raacke Raacke, 2008). This variable is of quite high importance especially in case of Pakistan where many of the universities are also situated at rural areas like Comsats Vehari . Also the students in larger cities are not only from within the cities but from villages and small cities also. 2.1: Usage According to Pruijt, (2002) Wellman et al.,
  • 43. The Importance Of Poverty In The United States Imagine this: you go to your fridge or your cupboard and find nothing.....there is no food. You go to your wallet and there is no money to feed your family. More than 45 million people in the United States live in poverty as of now. That is 14.5 percent of Americans in the United States. That is an extremely high number. It is vital that we take control of this povertyissue at hand before it is too late. The definition of poverty is the state of being extremely poor. Poverty is the lack of money or material things. It is all over the world and is increasing at an alarming rate. Over the year of 2015, 43.1 million people in the United Stateslived in poverty. I will never not be poor, so what does it matter if I don t pay a thing and a half this week instead of just one thing? It s not like the sacrifice will result in improved circumstances; the thing holding me back isn t that I blow five bucks at Wendy s. It s that now that I have proven that I am a Poor Person that is all that I am or ever will be. It is not worth it to me to live a bleak life devoid of small pleasures so that one day I can make a single large purchase. I will never have large pleasures to hold on to. There s a certain pull to live what bits of life you can while there s money in your pocket, because no matter how responsible you are you will be broke in three days anyway. When you never have enough money it ceases to have meaning. I imagine having a lot of it is the same thing. Poverty is bleak and cuts off your long term brain. It s why you see people with four different baby daddies instead of one. You grab a bit of connection wherever you can to survive. You have no idea how strong the pull to feel worthwhile is. It s more basic than food. You go to these people who make you feel lovely for an hour that one time, and that s all you get. You re probably not compatible with them for anything long term, but right this minute they can make you feel powerful and valuable. It does not matter what will happen in a month. Whatever happens in a month is probably going to be just

Growing up in Akron Ohio, and living on the cities South Side near Firestone Park was one of my first shaping points. I have seen a lot of changes in the city of Akron, most of them being good. My first experience in the real world was when I worked as a dishwasher at the Tangier Restaurant, while in high school to help support my family. We never had a lot of fancy things, but we were blessed to have each other. I lived with my mother, father and sister, and I have a brother who has always been close by. After returning to the States for 10 months, I was placed on orders to deploy to Iraq. I served our great country in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. My first deployment was to Victory Base Camp Iraq that was from November 01, 2004 to November 15, 2005. My second deployment was to Camp Adder Iraq that was from January 23, 2009 to January 19, 2010. My first deployment was the hardest. It was during a major turning point of Operation Iraqi Freedom. My duties as a 25L (cable installer systems maintainer) to were to install communications equipment and help facilitate the arrival of the Iraqi Army Headquarters at Victory Base Camp. The first deployment in 2004 was the roughest. I had seen a lot of mortar attacks, and lost a couple of close friends. I remember my team and I were out earlier in the day going around Victory Base doing trouble call repair tickets on phone lines and computer lines around the base. We had finally come to a stopping point so we could go and take lunch. I asked the members of my team did they want to go to the Chow Hall, only one person besides myself wanted to go

Back in 1874, women played tennis, but they only played mixed doubles, which is when men and women play together as partners. The clothes women wore back then is way different then what we wear nowadays. Back then, women had to wear a bustle skirt and a corset. This wasn t really the ideal clothing to wear on a sweltering day while playing tennis. This is probably why a woman playing in the Wimbledon, a tennis tournament which began in 1877 as a fundraiser, fainted in the second set on that hot, sunny day. This incident probably occurred because that women was wearing tight and hot clothes while playing tennis, but instead of taking this incident as a reason to change women s clothing, this incident became one of the reasons why today women play less sets than men, which was one of the reasons why they got less prize money than men. • 47. Pet Overpopulation Case Study As I ve investigated, the same problem to our city pet overpopulation keeps coming up; unwanted breeding. Animals, domesticated or not mostly act on instinct. When domesticated animals are in heat, their behavior changes as they search for a mate to soothe their instinctual desires. Pet owners usually skip on spaying neuteringtheir pets because of the cost and burden of taking care of a post surgery animalfor two days. Most veterinarians charge over $100 (also depending on the sex, canine/feline, weight, age) for sterilizing an animal but low cost clinics exist, costing up to 30 40% less than a normal vet costs. SNAP only offers free services to clients who can show proof of participation in a public assistance program and only accepts a maximum of 24 cats and dogs at a time. It is one of those emotions that words do not seem to justify a person may feel it, but may not be able to explain it. However, that does not mean that people do not know that love is out there. Many people believe that everyone has one true love somewhere in the world, and spend their lives searching for that person. Love is not difficult to find though. It exists in many forms, including love between family members, friends, different races, and even the love for oneself, both in the novel Fried GreenTomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Frannie Flagg and in one s own life. The first and most basic form of love is found in the family. The fact that his grandson is able to be embarrassed proves the success if Jasper had done poorly, the grandson would not be well off, and would be bowing and scraping to whites just as his grandfather had. A more unusual type of love for the setting is the love between black and white races. The blacks are faced by many problems, especially in the South mid century, but they seem to jump to the occasion and succeed against poor odds. Idgie and Ruth both admire and care about the blacks in the story. When Onzell kills Frank Bennet, Idgie knows that the law would have her killed, so she risks her own freedom by going to trial as the accused. This is proof that Idgie is fond of Onzell and Big George, and even loves them if she s willing to take such a chance. As well, Onzell feels great loyalty towards Ruth she kills a man to try and protect Ruth s baby. Onzell is almost like another mother to Stump, and a good friend of Ruth and Idgie s. Another black/white relationship with love involved is the one between Sipsey and the Threadgoode family. Sipsey is their servant, but they treat her like another member of the family.
