Essay Comparing The Bible And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
There are many various depictions of The Great Flood. The Aborigines have an account of the Flood
which includes a woman whose third son was killed and so she speared the eye of the sea. The Mayan
interpretation presents the theory that the Flood destroyed wooden people that were created by the
gods in an attempt to create human beings. Two very well known clarifications are in The Bible and
The Epic of Gilgamesh. Although they are about the tantamount occurrence, there are many
differences, including who told who to constitute the ark, what was on the ark, and how elongated the
flood persevered.
First, who told who about the Flood and to construct an ark is a very important topic. In The Bible,
God tells Noah that He is going to flood the earth for because of all the wickedness in men s minds.
He instructed Noah to build an ark that is four hundred fifty feet long, seventy five feet wide, and fort
five feet high. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Ishtar was extremely enraged and she told her father, Anu, to
deliver a deluge. Ea came to Utnapishtim and told him that a downpour was going to strike the earth
and to construct a water tight vessel. As you can probably see, these are two very different theories,
but we know that The Bible is always accurate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Bible affirms that Noah took his wife, his sons and stepdaughters, two of every kind of animal,
and seven of every kind of bird on the ark with him. Each species had a male and its mate to keep the
species alive. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Utnapishtim had his sons with wives, people who wanted to
remain alive, multitudinous amounts of the city s craftsmen, and divers kinds of beast. These views
weren t that different despite the fact that on Utnapishtim s boat, there were people from the

Defects Of Defects And Defects
INTRODUCTION A defect can be defined as a deviation from the quality and standard of design,
materials or workmanship specified in a contract . According to the RICS guidance notes on defects,
there are primarily two major kinds of defects. Patent defects and Latent defects. Patent defects can be
easily identified during an inspection but Latent defects are not immediately obvious, but are
discovered at a later date. For example a faulty foundation which is not detected until it affects the
super structure is a latent defect. Construction contracts usually have a defect liability period agreed.
The defects liability period is the period of time during which the contractor is contractually obliged to
repair defects which have appeared in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for third party rights to apply, the contract itself must expressly confer the right, setting out
the terms that the third party can rely on, and expressly identify the third party in the contract This
means the contractor can still be found liable for defects several years after project completion, if
these defects are discovered within the statutory limitation periods. This liability can be as a result of
his contractual obligations or based on negligence in tort especially when the limitation period for
bringing an action under contract has passed or if there is no binding contractual relationship between
the occupier and the contractor. These limitation periods are set out in the Limitation Act 1980. Under
the act, the time limit for actions founded on a simple contract is six years from the date on which the
cause of action occurred but twelve years if created by deed . However, the time limit for actions
founded on tort is six years from the date the cause of action accrued . The Latent damage act provides
a limitation period of 3 years from the date of discovery of the latent defect. The act amends the law
about limitation of actions (Section 14A of the Limitation Act 1980) in relation to actions for damages
for negligence not involving personal injuries; and to provide for a person taking an interest in
property to have, in certain circumstances, a cause of action in respect of negligent

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
J.D Salinger is a very known american writer whose literature became very popular. His books
revolved around many ideas such as his view on children. Children in many of his books have an
innocence that Salinger grasps onto and makes adults corrupt. Also, he shows how children are
teachers to adults but can still be foolish.
Purity in children are expressed throughout many stories by Salinger. In Catcher In the Rye, Holden
repeatedly expressed Did you ask her if she still keeps all her kings in back row? (42). He kept the
idea of purity with jane(the girl he asked about) and only saw her as still a child and not as a teenage
girl already having sex. The thought of someone maturing and losing their innocence is portrayed as a
bad thing in many stories. For instance, when the words F*ck You were written on the walls of
Holdens little sister Phoebe school, he instantly assumes someone older snuck in who doesn t belong
around children came and did it. In his mind, he doesn t see children writing swear word or having
sex; he sees them doing the opposite and trying to ignore them. When dealing with children, adults
tend to ignore reality and dumb down to their level and way of thinking. As shown in A Perfect Day
for Bananafish by Salinger, Seymour (the adult) meets with a Sybil (young girl) and makes up
imaginary creatures such as a Bananafish and they look for it. Also, they talk about things they enjoy,
but keeping a sense of humor :
Do you like wax? Sybil asked.

Women Involved In The Civil Rights Movement
Do you know any important women involved in the civil rights movement? Here are two women that
were very involved in the civil rights movement. On August 10th, 1858, Annie Julia Cooper was born,
she was actually born into slavery in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her Mother was Hannah Stanley
Haywood, she was an enslaved woman owned by George Washington. Anna had two older brothers,
Andrew and Rufus. Andrew was a slave in early years, but in later years fought in the Spanish
American War. Rufus was a slave in early years, but later he became musical group leader of Stanley s
Band. In Anna s early years she started school at the recently opened Saint Augustine s Normal School
and Collegiate Institute in Raleigh. During her many years at the school, she retained a lot of
knowledge, and became a very bright young lady. She was very good in many subjects like math,
science, and English literature. Anna s knowledge in these subjects was so well that they even let her
tutor younger students. By now her educational expenses were so high, she used the money she earned
from tutoring to help pay for the expenses. Anna did earn many scholarships, that lowered the cost of
school greatly, but she still had more to pay. She stayed teaching at the school which allowed her to be
listed as an instructor. At St. Augustine s, she also met and married George ... Show more content on

The Space And Space Exploration
In the midst of presidential race between many candidates, Ted Cruz was one that stood out because of
his many plans and policies on space exploration. Ted Cruz has spoken of what he plans on doing if he
were to become president. He plans on developing a rocket and capsule that can take astronauts clear
into Mars early as 2030. He adds that this is a crucial part in space exploration and developing NASA
in to full capacity. The project which will cost billions of dollars will further advance the United States
into the superior space program over any other country in the world. While many of Cruz s opponents
think that spending money on space exploration is an extreme waste of valuable cash, Cruz still
defends his ideas and plans on turning this country into the space super power. Cruz seems to care a
lot about space exploration and plans on making that a huge part of his run at presidency.
The space war so to speak between the United States and Russia is one that will continue through the
ages and one that Cruz has repeatedly said he will put a stop to. He insists that we can get astronauts
to the space station without the help of our rival Russia. As we all know The U.S. has been reliant on
Russia for a long time including back in 2011 when they helped shuttle astronauts to the orbiting lab.
Cruz who represents the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas believes that he is the best candidate
for those astronomy aficionados. Florida senator Bill Nelson deeply agrees

Students will need to provide a folder to keep any work, as well as login information. This needs to be
brought to class each week.
Students will be required to have Internet access, whether that be through home use or through public
wi fi such as a library. Much of the work in the class is completed at school, however several
assignments do have work at home as needed.
Classroom Expectations
Students will enter the classroom in a quiet and orderly fashion. 6th 8th grade students will usually
start at their computer stations. Students will exit in the same fashion when leaving the lab.
Each student will have an assigned computer station and headphones and treat these with care.
Headphones should be bagged and placed in the bin at the end of class.
Students will work on assignments independently unless otherwise specified.
If students have a question, a raised hand will alert the teacher to the need. Leaving your computer
station is not an appropriate way to seek help.
Students are to remain on task with the materials given. Searching the Internet, going to sites not
approved, checking personal email, or spending time on other work outside of computers without
permission is a breach of the Acceptable Use Policy of Our Lady of Victory Handbook, and will be
assessed as a disciplinary concern as well as a loss of computer time during class.
Students will close all programs, save all work, and leave their computer on the home screen or
desktop at the end of the class.

Comparing The Impact Of Religion And Philosophy In India...
When comparing the impact of religion and philosophy in India with the impact of religion and
philosophy on these classical civilization s governments between 600 BCE and 600 CE, they were
similar in that they used religion and philosophy to support social and caste divisions, they stressed the
importance of following and obeying rules and the men who followed the teachings of the religion or
philosophy were on the top of the social hierarchy. This was because both China and India religion
and philosophy used religion to justify the social divisions like the caste system in India by talking
about reincarnation or the Confucian stress on the importance of obeying authority. Both India and
China also had a religion or philosophy that encouraged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One social difference was that in India, religion didn t help the government unify their empire.
Hinduism was so diverse and had so many offshoots and sects like the Shaivites and the Vaishnavites
that it wasn t uniform enough to be shared across India and bring together the Indian subcontinent and
empire. This was distinct from China where Confucianism was fairly consistent in its teachings and
values. Because of this, all across China the idea of Confucianism linked various provinces and areas
like the vastly different North and South China together. A follower of Confucius from a remote
southern province would probably follow the same ideals that another follower of Confucius from the
North. This let the government unify the Chinese empire and bring together otherwise very different
people under one government. This difference was probably due to the fact that Hinduism had no one
founder to dispense core values and it was a polytheistic religion so there were many different gods to
follow while Confucianism was based on the teachings of one man, Confucius and followed his
individual teachings and the interpretations of them. Of the two, China was much more unified while
India remained incredibly diverse. However, both these governments and empires were more united
than the Classical Greek civilization which was composed of fiercely independent city states. A social
similarity was that these religions helped helped the government maintain social differences in society.
India had the highly inflexible caste system while China had a more lenient social pyramid. The caste
system was supported by the belief in reincarnation and karma in India where if you lived a good life
as a good person you would reincarnate into a good caste because of your karma so you were
ultimately responsible for your own caste. In China, Confucianism promoted the idea that those in
lower classes should stay there and respect their

Discover the Intricacies of Agoraphobia Essay
Among the many diseases in this world, some of the most interesting and least understood are
illnesses of the mind. One aliment in particular, Agoraphobia, is of particular interest to me as it
affects many of my family members in ways both subtle and drastic, and I cannot help but wonder if I
too will fall victim to it. I know from previous knowledge that this particular ailment is a mental one,
though I have witnessed it causing drastic physical symptoms, and that it generally involves a fear of
leaving home for an open, public place. Through research, I aim to find the cause of agoraphobia,
including anything that predisposes one to it, and treatments for it, including both medications and
therapy. I would also like to know just how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aside from written, digital sources, it was required of me to conduct an interview for this assignment,
something that I at first was weary of, but was ultimately glad I did. I first had to decide on to whom
to interview, and I did so by first asking myself what I wanted to know more from a real person, and
what would be easier to find out from a real person. This essentially boiled down to talking to either a
doctor about treatment or a patient about how the disease is truly experienced. Eventually I chose to
do the later, because finding medical papers was relatively easy, but finding out the real difficulties of
the disease was something that was too personal for most scientific sources. I chose to interview my
aunt, Linda Pistole, as she out of all of my family had the worst case of agoraphobia, and contacted
her through a simple phone call. She agreed to the interview and arranged to answer my questions
over lunch at her house the next day. I conducted the interview rather cautiously, as I knew it was a
difficult topic, so gentleness was key. Tape recording was out of the question during the interview so I
took notes instead, and knew that I could always call again if I managed to forget something
important. Overall, I felt that the interview went better than I expected. The information I received had
detail, but not bloated with technical jargon as most formal sources are, and I found it to be quiet
useful. It illustrated well

Woman With Peacocks Distinctively Visual
Woman with Peacocks, is a commercial lithographic print. While the sheet is 16 inches by 12 and
1/16th inches, the image itself is 13 3/8 inches by 8 7/8 inches. The print is a part of the Elisha
Whittlesey Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art located in New York City. The print,
Woman with Peacocks, was created in 1897 by an English born American artist named, Louis John
Rhead. There is no type of text in the print, so I have an assumption that it was not used in any time of
advertisement but was instead, created for the pleasure of viewing.

trees and leaves, and what appears to be a two sections of grass or ground divided by a set ... Show

The dress that the woman is wearing, is a maroon color which is also used in the some of the feathers
on the peacocks. A poppy red color in between the curved lines, creates a band of bright color that
divides a cobalt blue ground on the left and somewhat muted teal grass on the right. This bright,
intense poppy red color is also used in the top part of the sky. The sky may be a two toned poppy red
on the top and the bottom half is a paler poppy red color. The bottom paler poopy red could also be a
wall surrounding the landscape. The peacocks faces, some feathers, and portions of the symbolic
peacock tail feathers are a poppy red color. The sleeves, waist band, and neckline of the woman s
dress are also the poppy red color as well as the dress pattern that mimics the shape of the peacock tail
feathers. The warm color of the sky could be an unrealistic representation or an intense sunset or
sunrise. The calm vivid blue and less bright teal of the trees, leaves, and landscape are in contrast with
the energy of the poppy red color. These complementary colors created a balance in the print. The teal
grass is located in the center with teal tree trucks on the right and the same teal is used in the leaves in
the left top corner. This color is also the body color of the peacock on the woman s left side as well as
in the feathers of both peacocks. The cobalt blue is used in the landscape layered on top and below the
teal grass that is divided by the poppy red curved band. The leaves in the trees are the cobalt blue
color as well as the body of the peacock on the woman s right side and details in the feathers on both.
The color brown is only used in the woman s hair which is adorned with a poppy red flower and
cobalt blue crown of leaves. Her skin is very light and an almost white color. This very pale flesh tone

Senior Safety Research Paper
Subject: Risk Management Matters August Newsletter
Programming Idea of the Month Senior Safety Tips
To kick off the new school year, have seniors lead a risk management workshop for the chapter. As
veterans of Kappa and the campus community, they have a wealth of knowledge about how to
navigate unique local safety issues and have a fun and safe time at chapter events. This could include
general safety tips utilizing a campus sober driver program, avoiding a certain street when walking
home at night or social event related advice using the buddy system, never leaving your drink
unattended. Having a variety of speakers also keeps the chapter interested and the chapter typically
respects and listens to seniors.

Propaganda In The Hitler Youth
The pinnacle of the movement is embodied during the raging battles of World War II. At present, it is
apparent that the entire barrage of propaganda for seven plus years was in preparation to send German
youths, both boys and girls, to both fronts to fight the Allied powers. According to expert David Welch
of the BBC, the Nazi usage of propaganda was so persuasive that Hitlerjugend became paramilitary
troops who were sent directly to Poland to fight the Soviets as well as to the Rhine region to fend off
the Americans. One such propaganda poster depicted a father with a SS armband helping his son shoot
a gun, both of them in full military attire, as well as another which, when translated, says, For
Freedom and Life; The People s Storm, (see Appendix B) and Welch argued that such encouragement
would have filled the youth on the battlefield with drive. The surprising fanaticism and reckless
bravado of the Hitler Youth in battle left the Western Allied forces astonished. There were reports of
accounts which detailed how the adolescent boys fought till their death without the thought of
surrendering; young boys were shot by soldiers who were old enough to be their own fathers. From
the D Day and Invasion of Normandy, the Hitlerjugend lost 8000 over the course of six hours. Even
boys at the age of seventeen were described as ruthless fighters, who would outfight their fellow adult
Nazi soldiers, and this can be directly attributed to their indoctrination. Out of the

Essay On The Babylonians
The Babylonian civilization existed from around 3000 BC until 539 BC. The civilization has its roots
to Mesopotamia, a plain between the Tigris River and the Euphrates River, which is now in modern
day Iraq. The Babylonians are notoriously famous in their discoveries and inventions, most of which
we still use today. The civilization developed ideas such as astronomy, in which they created the Saros
Cycle, a cycle used to predict solar and lunar eclipses. The Babylonians were also masters in
architecture, constructing buildings like the Hanging Gardens using innovative techniques including
glass covered bricks and adornments of gold and bronze. However, despite many of these discoveries
being forgotten or lost, their advancements in mathematics have been kept for centuries, and have
brought modern ideas of angles, quadratic equations and even knowledge about the Pythagoras
theorem, before Pythagoras himself existed.
One modern day use of mathematics and quadratic equations, created by Babylonians, was the
collection of taxes. Mesopotamia was a very fertile land; therefore there were a high number of
farmers in the Babylonian Empire. Because of the high number of farmers, tax collectors and

Symbolism In Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour
There are many phrases in the English language that, when analyzed, don t make sense at all. For
example, the kiss of death is one of these phrases. Typically we think of a kiss as something nice, a
way of affection from a partner, a parent, grandparent, or even friend. So pairing this joyful word with
something that so many people dread is admittedly an odd choice. Used as a marking of fate, a kiss of
death is a concept that seems very taboo, but really this comparison of light and dark has been used
more often than we may think. In Kate Chopin s short story, The Story of an Hour , she utilizes
imagery by using language that is often self contradictory. With her combination of dark and cheerful
imagery, Chopin creates a very uneasy mood throughout the story that helps to reflect Mrs. Mallard s
emotional conflict with her physical surroundings.
After Mr. Mallards announced death, Chopin used the sky as a type of symbolic imagery. In a state of
suspension, Mrs. Mallard stood at the open window, looking out at the scenery in front of her house.
As she looked out the window, she saw that There were patches of blue sky showing here and there
through the clouds that had met and piled one above the other, (Chopin 1). In this example, Chopin
uses her imagery to reflect the stress that is being lifted from Mrs. Mallard. Over the course of her
marriage, Louise Mallard had been suppressing these feelings of entrapment, causing them to build on
themselves like the heavy weight

Buffalo Wild Wings Mission Analysis
Buffalo Wild Wings Mission Analysis
Gavin Thomas
Introduction
In 1982, Jim Disbrow and Scott Lowery opened up their first restaurant and called it Buffalo Wild
Wings Weck near the campus of The Ohio State University. The two entrepreneurs grew the restaurant
to thirty five restaurants over the next twelve years. Unfortunately, the cost of the growth was
potentially bankruptcy inducing debt. In 1994, Sally Smith became Chief Financial Officer and two
years later became Chief Executive Officer. Under Smith s leadership, Buffalo Wild Wings escaped
the throngs of debt and prospered for almost a decade before going public in 2003. In an effort to
target a larger audience and build their brand, Buffalo Wild Wings revamped its restaurant in 2012.
This meant removing Grill Bar from its name in addition to a refreshed logo and redesigned restaurant
(Buffalowildwings.com). Today, Buffalo Wild Wings is the premier sports bar in America for sports
fans, but also a great option for families eating out. This paper will analyze current remote and
external environments that shape the business strategies that have led, and should lead to another
decade of excellence.

Essay On EU Law
Whilst there has been contention to the definition of direct effects, it has generally been explained to
be a principle that bestows upon the individuals of the European Union (hereafter, the EU) Member
State, a right which flows from EU law. This conferring of right would enable an individual to invoke
the provision before the courts. An invention of the Court of Justice of the European Union (hereafter,
the CJEU) and first recognized in Van Gend en Loose , this principle, therefore, goes to the heart of
the supremacy of EU law. The question in Van Gend was whether Article 12 of the Treaty of Rome

(hereafter, the TFEU), which reiterates this notion.

TFEU) is crystal clear; Directives are addressed to Member States and would have to first be
transposed into national law within the given deadline. However, where the Directive in question can
fulfil the conditions in Van Gend and have expired , they may have a direct effect.
Nevertheless, this direct effect is restricted only to that of a horizontal nature. Marshall disallows
individuals from enforcing a Directive against a private body. Concerns were raised when there was a
call to allow Directives to be horizontally effective. One point of contention was the fact that Article
288 expressly mentions that Directives are binding upon Member States who were expressly
addressed.
Another argument raised was focused on the distinction between Regulations and Directives. The
transposition process for Directives is what differentiates the two. To take away this ability would be
to blur the demarcation between the two types of secondary EU law sources as they would both be
rendered directly applicable. Despite the criticisms, however, Marshall was affirmed in Dori a decade
later.
Yet, a problem stems from the refusal of having Directives be horizontally effective; claimants are

The Care Delivery System Measurement Tool Essay
Ms. Durand evaluates the hemodialysis units care delivery model on a quarterly basis, using the Care
Delivery System measurement tool. She involves staff in this evaluation process to promote shared
governance. The model supports all staff in providing safe, quality, responsible care to our Veterans.
Each staff member continues to articulate the model which is constantly developing as it responds to
both internal and external issues. The units care delivery model ensures a trusting relationship between
the staff and the Veterans. The success of this model has been measured by our overall quality
indicators exceeding the medical center benchmarks and our patient satisfaction survey for the last
few years. We have promoted the need for the Veterans to become active partners in their own care.
Ms. Durand has successfully implemented staffing methodology for the hemodialysis unit. Her expert
panel can articulate the staffing plan while working closely to evaluate its effectiveness on a quarterly
basis. Her methodology ensures the outcome of optimal and safe nursing coverage in her area of
practice. The staffing methodology uses nursing sensitive indicators, such as adequacy of treatment,
anemia and bone management, vascular access and CLABSI with data driven metrics to arrive at
appropriate staffing levels. Overtime has improved significantly over the last 6 months with the initial

Reflection in Iris Murdoch s Under the Net
Reflection in Iris Murdoch s Under the Net
In her novel Under the Net, Iris Murdoch examines the nature of reality through the thoughts and
relationships of the novel s main character, Jake Donaghue. A recurring theme in the novel is the idea
of reflection, in both senses of the word: Jake is continually thinking about ideas, and he is also
forever trying to see himself as he really is. Many of the instances of reflection in the novel occur near
rivers or are connected in some way to currents. As we shall see, Iris Murdoch uses reflections in
Under the Net to represent the mirror opposites of reality and appearance. The Novel As Reflection

We should note that it is her reflection and not Sadie that Jake sees: [T]he curious fantasy came to me
that if I were to look under the drier at the real face and not at the reflection I should see there some
terrible old witch (p53). The relationship between appearance and reality is a central theme in the
novel, and Jake s search for the truth includes the desire to learn if one can ever truly know another
person. Jake s fear of intimacy is due in part to his concern for the truth; he states that although he
once briefly thought of marrying Anna, he has never wanted a communion of the souls because it is
already hard enough to tell the truth to oneself (p31). Jake nevertheless again comes to care deeply for
Anna, and in a frantic search of Paris, he finally finds her at the city s fireworks celebration:
The river was black now under the night sky and glassy, a black mirror in which every lamp raised a
pole of light and the conflagration in the sky above dropped an occasional piece of gold. The line of
people on the other bank was clearly reflected in it. Anna s image was quite still beneath her. I
wondered if in the river...my own reflection was as vividly shown. (191)
Anna does not see Jake s reflection, however, and he leaves Paris without having talked to her. In a
comic distortion of reality, Jake believes that Hugo loves Anna, while in fact Hugo loves Sadie, Anna
loves Hugo, and Sadie loves Jake; their relationships

The Rise Of Fear By Marilynne Robinson
Faltering Faithfulness: The Rise In Fear
Fear is often characterized as an irrational sense of negativity toward the unknown or the unlikeable.
In the eyes of many Americans, the majority of whom proclaim their Christian beliefs, this sensation
is considered unavoidable. Marilynne Robinson argues in her article Fear , published by The New
York Review of Books in 2015, that ...first, contemporary America is full of fear. And second, fear is
not a Christian habit of mind (Robinson 1). In other words, it is unchristian to fear. In both the
beginning and conclusion, she clearly expresses credibility through her extensive credentials and
strong emotional arguments; however, this is overshadowed by the wordiness, sarcasm, and lack of ...

Robinson s use of her intelligence and lengthy career helps build an image of reliability within her
argument initially. However, as citing facts soon turns to reciting history as if directly from a textbook,
her wealth of knowledge becomes exhausting. Focus changes numerously from fear, to gun rights, to
ever changing religious views in the nation, and her argument lacks the clarity that it began with. In
her effort to almost brag about how well read she is, Marilynne completely loses sight of the purpose
and the attention of the reader.
Robinson emphasizes some her argument on employing logical persuasion to counteract her
shortcomings in credibility. It s frequent that events in history can repeat themselves, and
understanding the implications of past actions helps to prevent future mistakes. Fear is an emotion that
is, in our society today, unavoidable. Yet, this is precisely what creates an atmosphere of political or
social unrest within the nation and abroad. Because, it serves as a tool by which ideas can be spread or
perhaps forced down upon those easily convinced. She cites guns as being a prime example of this
case, saying: gun sales stimulate gun sales, and when people see weapons, they have every reason on
earth to fear the worst (4 Robinson). Fear is better described as being contagious . As the threat of
violence, for example, increases, the perceived need for violence in retaliation increases. The logical

Sportsmanship Vs Sportsmanship
There is much debate in our current athletic culture on sportsmanship and gamesmanship. Stories of
scandals seem to make the news headlines almost weekly in college and professional athletics. In fact,
a story just broke about the Boston Red Sox using an apple watch to steal signs from the New York
Yankees (Olney, 2017). Stealing signs has always been part of baseball but using technology is
prohibited. There are numerous other examples of athletic teams bending the rules or completely
breaking the rules in order to gain a competitive advantage.
Sportsmanship is an important part of sports because it ensures that competitors are competing in a
fair and ethical manner. According to Epstein (2016), The ethics of sports was once fairness. Fairness
meant not taking undue advantage; if anything, it meant allowing such advantages as chance turned up
to go to one s opponent. The Illinois High School Association s slogan for sportsmanship is, Do What
s Right! ( Do What s Right ). According to the IHSA athletes and coaches should, Represent their
school and community favorably through positive interaction with opposing fans and players before,
during, and after the competition ( Do What s Right! ). Good sportsmanship means that athletes,
coaches, and fans, respect their opponent, the referees, and the game. This means playing within the
rules, accepting the judgment of the officials, and be humble and gracious in both victory and defeat.

Five Key Fundamentals Of Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis has many concepts that are complex for the lay reader to grasp instantaneously. To
understand what working through it, some background information is considered necessary. This
section introduces the relevant terminology and concepts.
Current psychoanalytic theory and practice has its origin in the writing of Freud (Etchegoyen, 2005).
The aim of analysis is to effect structural changes in the patient. Psychoanalysis consists of five key
fundamentals: (a) resistance (b) the transference of the patient and the counter transference of the
analyst, (c) the verbal material provided by the patient according to the principle of free association,
(d) interpretation, and (e) working through. Thus it relies on the work of psychoanalyst and the work
of the patient from the approach of the scientific realism (the idea that all objects, events and
processes are real). Scientific realism can be contrasted with the rational positivist approach of

Psychoanalysis was concerned with psychic events and the patient s emotions and feelings. The school
of ego psychology, object relations and self psychology were chosen for contrast in this thesis, as each
of these schools has evolved from Freudian psychoanalysis, emphasizing a variety of levels of
expansion of the psyche.
According to Kukla (2001), the ideologies of reality theory evolution are called the logic of
justification . He detained that theories are evaluated in terms of their virtuosity , or principles that can
be certified to them. Of these, the truth value of a theory is the most significant. Kukla wrote,
however, that the concrete truth value can be intricate to determine. Instead, other theoretical virtues
are used in the justification (evaluation) of a theory as an approximation to its truth value (Haig,

The Swing Portrays by Jean-Honoré Fragonard
Jean Honoré Fragonard created The Swing in 1766 with oil paints on a 2 8.6 by 2 2 canvas. It is
located in London, England in the Wallace Collection. During the time this work was created, France
was an aristocracy and The Swing portrays a glimpse of the luxurious life of the ruling class. King
Louis XV ruled during a time when France was the most prosperous and powerful country in all of
Europe. Through the influence of Madame de Pompadour, the arts prospered during this time. In the
18th century during King Louis reign the arts seemed to consume the thoughts of not only the artists
themselves but also the King and other wealthy and influential members of society. This in turn
resulted in neglect of the undertakings of the state, which had its consequences. In 1789, the bloody
French Revolution took place and soon after, the fall of the monarchy. The Swing is undoubtedly the
most famous of all Fragonard s compositions. It epitomizes the Rococo style of the 18th century with
tranquil colors and gentle light, exaggerated diagonals, decorations, and nature. . The libertine Baron
de St. Julien commissioned this piece. He ordered that Fragonard paint the bishop pushing his
Madame on a swing. Fragonard painted for the baron de Saint Julien his first great masterpiece and
from then on he knew that for the rest of his life he would paint for people of wealth. He painted for
many individuals including the king because his talent was something that everyone desired. The

Shrek describes how people runaway from him when they see him which results in isolating himself.
Another scene, when he thought Princess Fiona did hat him because he was ugly. He was sad to think
that everyone used to justify him with his ugly face but none could feel his heart. Shrek was always
trying to hide himself away from the society and he was sick and tired of the social life because
society was unable to judge him in the right way. As a result form the beginning the did not wanted

4. Explain need for affection from Donkey and Shrek s perspectives. The need for affection is the fact
that we all need to receive and give love, support, warmth, and intimacy. In the perspective of the
Donkey, it can be seen when he wanted to be the friend of Shrek and in another scene the Donkey was
cooping with the Dragon as a result of his loneliness and need for affection. In Shrek s perspective, his
need for affection was oftten suppressed, but at the end his need for affection drives him to tell

time in a teen s life. It s all focused on preparing you for the outside world and if we didn t have
people like Mr. Campbell, students wouldn t have as much motivation as they do to do well and

as; what degree(s) were obtained, how and why this field was chosen and to describe his current job.
He started off by explaining what he does as a whole. We already know that he s a school counselor,
however, he s so much more than just that. He shared that there are three different branches of
counseling he works with. Academic, which is just making sure students pick the right classes. Career,
which is helping students pick a career showing what they need in order to make that dream happen.
Also, he helps individuals socially and personally, like many counselors do. Mr. Campbell has a B.S.

Earth and its outer space
It is commonly believed that earth lies in an empty space in the universe which is vacuum. This is not
absolutely true because vacuum is a space with nothing, no even air, but there are actually particles
existing in the interstellar space. At sea level the density of air molecules is 1 quintillion per cm3; at
100km roughly where aurora occurs, density is 1 trillion per cm3; in the interstellar space the density
is merely 1 per cm3. Therefore as a result, most of outer space is filled with electrically conductive
plasma. Besides of particles, there are magnetic field, electric current, electromagnetic force,
gravitational forces… It is these invisible, but important factors which give rise to the interaction

External Environment Of Southwest Airlines
When it comes to the external environments of Southwest airlines there are many things to consider.
The general environment and the industry in general are thing to consider. A major challenge that must
have due consideration is competition. There are many aspects of the general environment.
Demographic, technological, economic and political/legal are a few. There are seven concepts that
make up the general environment analysis. All together they show what Southwest is all about.
Southwest s demographic trend favors two types of travelers, the time oriented and the cost efficient
travelers. The time oriented are mainly business related travelers. They are using doing a short haul
type of flight. The cost efficient travelers are mainly leisure type travelers such as one s going on
vacation. Both of these travelers prove that southwest main objective is cost and time efficient
traveling. When it comes to technology, Southwest has been using antiques, but Southwest is fixing to
change that. According to the Dallas Morning Times, new domestic reservation system will replace 30
year old technology this year, giving southwest the same ability as rivals to accept foreign currency,
recover faster from storms, and more easily change prices and schedules. (DallesNews.com) Along
with the new reservation system will come virtual tickets. Southwest s will do away with paper tickets
for people using employee s guest passes. Thus, Southwest has started to update their technology.

A Summary On The Business Industry
5 Fascinating Movies About Entrepreneurs
Entrepreneurs are the flavour of the year and today everyone is either one or on the way to becoming
one. Fueled by the drive to earn more than what most jobs can give, rock star like adulation achieved
by those who make it, and with success stories that run into billions of dollars, being an entrepreneur
is the new black. In fact those of us who are 30 plus would still remember that just two to three
decades back, being an entrepreneur, especially if you were male, meant that you were either morally
bankrupt or worse stupid, and either of which, by the way, substantially brought down your value in
the marriage market.
But times are a changing, the days ahead are heady, and for those who have or are planning to take the
plunge, here are five films that are worth watching. They are not just inspiring, you might even pick
up a few business and even life lessons in the process.
Tom Cruise plays the title role in Jerry Maguire (1996), and works for a sports management company

Ballet As Part Of The Romantic Era
The art form, Ballet emerged in Italy during the Renaissance (late 1400 s) and was developed
throughout the world as history went on. Following its introduction to France, Ballet exploded and
became a very significant part of society; reaching its height in the late 1600 s under the rule of King
Louis XIV who was a great patron of the arts and the founder of the Académie Royale de Danse.
There were many eras of Ballet such as Ballet de Court (1600 s) and Ballet de action (1700 s). The
19th Century in particular saw a significant development in Ballet as part of the Romantic Era.
Following the French Revolution (1789 1799) there was a new social enlightenment and opportunity
for people push boundaries, break social norms and challenge morals and ideas. This massive shift in
society saw the beginning of the Romantic era; a period in which writers, poets, artists and dancers
had the freedom to express themselves in a way that disregarded many classical aspects of past which
focused on harmony, balance and order. This provided a new era of creations that had strong sources
of inspirations from the natural world and mythology. (Vam.ac.uk) Much like how we use theatre in
present day as an escape from everyday life; many of the romantic art forms acted as a return to nature
and the countryside that many people had left following the establishment of more urban and
industrial way of living. Ballet in particular was effected significantly by this and there were numerous

A Leader s Framework For Decision Making
In the article titled, A leader s framework for decision making , the authors David Snowden and Mary
E. Boone discuss the poor policy decisions at the governmental level and the challenges facing
uncompetitive local firms. The article explains how managers rely on common leadership approaches
that work well in one set of circumstances but fall short of others. In the complex environment of the
current business world, leaders often will be called upon to act against their instincts. They will need
to know when to share power and when to wield it alone, when to look to the wisdom of the group and
when to take their own counsel. A deep understanding of context, the ability to embrace complexity
and paradox, and a willingness to flexibly change leadership style will be required for leaders who
want to make things happen in a time of increasing uncertainty (Snowden Boone, 2007).

Newt mating game To find out, researchers placed male female pairs of alpine newts (Ichthyosaura
alpestris) and palmate newts (Lissotriton helveticus) into water filled plastic containers for receptivity
tests. The newts passed the test and were ready for the next phase if they completed the courtship
ritual (females weren t allowed to complete the insemination). The team then put two female pairs into
pheromone infused courtship water; some pairs consisted of two alpine newts, other pairs had one
female of each species. If the water contained pheromones from a male of her species, the female
would desperately try to court the other female. In some cases, two female alpine newts tried to follow
each other, resulting in the pair circling one another. In some two species trials, one female chased
after another, even as the unreceptive partner tried to escape the container. [See video of the sex crazed

expected, the courting female eventually started waving her tail at her partner, possibly sending out

The Debate Between Evolution and Creationism
If the question was posed as to what is the debate between creationism vs. evolution consist of, the
thought that it is God did it vs. Natural processes did it, (Scott, 2004) may arise. Science cannot
absolutely prove or disprove Creation or Evolution. Yet scientist and the remainder of society use
creationism and evolution to prove our existence. Creationist believe in the Christian account of the
origin as recorded in Genesis. Creationism is the belief that statements such as In the beginning God
created the heaven and the earth (NIV) found in Genesis 1:1 and also In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (NIV) found in John 1:1. Evolution is the belief

Each in which scripture was created to have no relation at all. Neo creationism evolution are those
who see creationism in a different light. Its goal is to re structure how life began from a non religious
perspective with no regards to scripture. Agnostic evolution is the belief that it is impossible in our
current times to know the truth in regards to God and the future life with which Christians and other
religious believers are concerned or over focused with. Materialistic evolution is the belief that the
development of life was a product of a blind, undirected process of matter and energy and that God
played absolutely no role in guiding that process.
Then we come to The mixing of evolution and theology sometimes results in a theory called theistic
evolution. The theory posits that through the process of evolution, God gradually developed life forms
until finally they became human beings. (Zinke, 2014) Theistic evolution is the proposition that God is
in charge of the biological process. That God instructs the revealing of life and matter over a time span
of millions of years.
In many ways theistic evolution challenges our concept of Gods being. For starters it poses the
questions against His intelligence, power, and love . According to this article it is not feasible to go
with the views of theistic evolution and still see God as upholding the well known

The Necessity Of Piercing The Corporate Veil
It was Lord Sumption in Prest v Petrodel Resources who recognised that there is a limited power to
pierce the corporate veil exceptional cases when it is deemed necessary to do so. This serves as
acknowledgement it is still possible to pierce the corporate veil but only as an absolute last resort. The
aim of this essay is to argue that the above statement is true to a certain extent regarding the necessity
of piercing the corporate veil and that perhaps, the way to achieve a more practical and fairer outcome
would be introduce greater flexibility to the use of this measure.
Several commentators have used the terms piercing the corporate veil and lifting the corporate veil
interchangeably. However, there is a difference between the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Allowing some room for the judges to exercise this greater flexibility may cause a slight confusion in
the beginning but over time, it is likely that judges themselves would have developed a set of
principles to apply when determining if it is necessary to pierce the corporate veil. In the long run, it is
submitted that this would produce a fairer outcome for the parties involved as judges would be able to
apply the principles developed to individual cases before making a decision.
Due to the separate legal personality of companies, a company can own shares in other companies.
This leads to the formation of corporate groups which can be made up of over 100 companies and are
often owned by a single parent company . The corporate veil was introduced to protect shareholders in
order to encourage entrepreneurial risk taking and innovation . Limited liability was introduced at a
time where corporate groups were unknown of . Nonetheless, courts have automatically applied the
doctrine of limited liability to corporate groups in order to shield parent companies from the debts of
their subsidiaries without even considering if it is necessary to do so . Furthermore, in consideration of
all the economic wealth and power that corporate groups have, they can barely be considered as the
entrepreneurial upstarts that the limited liability doctrine aimed to protect. Shareholders in such
groups can also use limited liability to avoid responsibility and manipulate the amount of

The Pros And Cons Of Inclusion For Special Education Essay
In this paper I am going to be talking about the pros and cons of inclusion for Special Education
children. By definition, Inclusion rejects the use of special schools or classrooms to separate students
with disabilities from students without disabilities. Special Education is a topic that is important, even
though people may not realize how important it is for the fact that they don t understand what goes
into Special Education for children in schools. Negative beliefs many people have about individuals
with disabilities may often be based on fear, misconceptions, and lack of knowledge (Wright, 1998).
There are many children who have Special Education in schools and I feel that inclusion is something
that parents think about for their children, weather it is positive or negative thoughts. There is an issue
weather inclusion is best for children or if it is hindering the child s academic performance. I am going
to explore if inclusion is better for children with disabilities or if inclusion is not beneficial for
children with disabilities. In my opinion, all educators should have the knowledge they need when it
comes to knowing what is best for these children and what will truly benefit them throughout there life
s. when it comes to Special Education, there are parents with disabled children as well as non disabled
children, who have so multiple opinions about inclusion. By the end of this essay, I want to know what
sincerely is beneficial for Special Educational children.

  • 2. Essay Comparing The Bible And The Epic Of Gilgamesh There are many various depictions of The Great Flood. The Aborigines have an account of the Flood which includes a woman whose third son was killed and so she speared the eye of the sea. The Mayan interpretation presents the theory that the Flood destroyed wooden people that were created by the gods in an attempt to create human beings. Two very well known clarifications are in The Bible and The Epic of Gilgamesh. Although they are about the tantamount occurrence, there are many differences, including who told who to constitute the ark, what was on the ark, and how elongated the flood persevered. First, who told who about the Flood and to construct an ark is a very important topic. In The Bible, God tells Noah that He is going to flood the earth for because of all the wickedness in men s minds. He instructed Noah to build an ark that is four hundred fifty feet long, seventy five feet wide, and fort five feet high. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Ishtar was extremely enraged and she told her father, Anu, to deliver a deluge. Ea came to Utnapishtim and told him that a downpour was going to strike the earth and to construct a water tight vessel. As you can probably see, these are two very different theories, but we know that The Bible is always accurate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bible affirms that Noah took his wife, his sons and stepdaughters, two of every kind of animal, and seven of every kind of bird on the ark with him. Each species had a male and its mate to keep the species alive. • 3. Defects Of Defects And Defects INTRODUCTION A defect can be defined as a deviation from the quality and standard of design, materials or workmanship specified in a contract . According to the RICS guidance notes on defects, there are primarily two major kinds of defects. Patent defects and Latent defects. Patent defects can be easily identified during an inspection but Latent defects are not immediately obvious, but are discovered at a later date. For example a faulty foundation which is not detected until it affects the super structure is a latent defect. Construction contracts usually have a defect liability period agreed. The defects liability period is the period of time during which the contractor is contractually obliged to repair defects which have appeared in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order for third party rights to apply, the contract itself must expressly confer the right, setting out the terms that the third party can rely on, and expressly identify the third party in the contract This means the contractor can still be found liable for defects several years after project completion, if these defects are discovered within the statutory limitation periods. This liability can be as a result of his contractual obligations or based on negligence in tort especially when the limitation period for bringing an action under contract has passed or if there is no binding contractual relationship between the occupier and the contractor. These limitation periods are set out in the Limitation Act 1980. Under the act, the time limit for actions founded on a simple contract is six years from the date on which the cause of action occurred but twelve years if created by deed . However, the time limit for actions founded on tort is six years from the date the cause of action accrued . The Latent damage act provides a limitation period of 3 years from the date of discovery of the latent defect. The act amends the law about limitation of actions (Section 14A of the Limitation Act 1980) in relation to actions for damages for negligence not involving personal injuries; and to provide for a person taking an interest in property to have, in certain circumstances, a cause of action in respect of negligent ... • 5. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger J.D Salinger is a very known american writer whose literature became very popular. His books revolved around many ideas such as his view on children. Children in many of his books have an innocence that Salinger grasps onto and makes adults corrupt. Also, he shows how children are teachers to adults but can still be foolish. Purity in children are expressed throughout many stories by Salinger. In Catcher In the Rye, Holden repeatedly expressed Did you ask her if she still keeps all her kings in back row? (42). He kept the idea of purity with jane(the girl he asked about) and only saw her as still a child and not as a teenage girl already having sex. The thought of someone maturing and losing their innocence is portrayed as a bad thing in many stories. For instance, when the words F*ck You were written on the walls of Holdens little sister Phoebe school, he instantly assumes someone older snuck in who doesn t belong around children came and did it. In his mind, he doesn t see children writing swear word or having sex; he sees them doing the opposite and trying to ignore them. When dealing with children, adults tend to ignore reality and dumb down to their level and way of thinking. As shown in A Perfect Day for Bananafish by Salinger, Seymour (the adult) meets with a Sybil (young girl) and makes up imaginary creatures such as a Bananafish and they look for it. Also, they talk about things they enjoy, but keeping a sense of humor : Do you like wax? Sybil asked. Do I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Women Involved In The Civil Rights Movement Do you know any important women involved in the civil rights movement? Here are two women that were very involved in the civil rights movement. On August 10th, 1858, Annie Julia Cooper was born, she was actually born into slavery in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her Mother was Hannah Stanley Haywood, she was an enslaved woman owned by George Washington. Anna had two older brothers, Andrew and Rufus. Andrew was a slave in early years, but in later years fought in the Spanish American War. Rufus was a slave in early years, but later he became musical group leader of Stanley s Band. In Anna s early years she started school at the recently opened Saint Augustine s Normal School and Collegiate Institute in Raleigh. During her many years at the school, she retained a lot of knowledge, and became a very bright young lady. She was very good in many subjects like math, science, and English literature. Anna s knowledge in these subjects was so well that they even let her tutor younger students. By now her educational expenses were so high, she used the money she earned from tutoring to help pay for the expenses. Anna did earn many scholarships, that lowered the cost of school greatly, but she still had more to pay. She stayed teaching at the school which allowed her to be listed as an instructor. • 7. The Space And Space Exploration In the midst of presidential race between many candidates, Ted Cruz was one that stood out because of his many plans and policies on space exploration. Ted Cruz has spoken of what he plans on doing if he were to become president. He plans on developing a rocket and capsule that can take astronauts clear into Mars early as 2030. He adds that this is a crucial part in space exploration and developing NASA in to full capacity. The project which will cost billions of dollars will further advance the United States into the superior space program over any other country in the world. While many of Cruz s opponents think that spending money on space exploration is an extreme waste of valuable cash, Cruz still defends his ideas and plans on turning this country into the space super power. Cruz seems to care a lot about space exploration and plans on making that a huge part of his run at presidency. The space war so to speak between the United States and Russia is one that will continue through the ages and one that Cruz has repeatedly said he will put a stop to. He insists that we can get astronauts to the space station without the help of our rival Russia. As we all know The U.S. has been reliant on Russia for a long time including back in 2011 when they helped shuttle astronauts to the orbiting lab. Cruz who represents the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas believes that he is the best candidate for those astronomy aficionados. Florida senator Bill Nelson deeply agrees ... • 9. Comparing The Impact Of Religion And Philosophy In India... When comparing the impact of religion and philosophy in India with the impact of religion and philosophy on these classical civilization s governments between 600 BCE and 600 CE, they were similar in that they used religion and philosophy to support social and caste divisions, they stressed the importance of following and obeying rules and the men who followed the teachings of the religion or philosophy were on the top of the social hierarchy. This was because both China and India religion and philosophy used religion to justify the social divisions like the caste system in India by talking about reincarnation or the Confucian stress on the importance of obeying authority. Both India and China also had a religion or philosophy that encouraged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One social difference was that in India, religion didn t help the government unify their empire. Hinduism was so diverse and had so many offshoots and sects like the Shaivites and the Vaishnavites that it wasn t uniform enough to be shared across India and bring together the Indian subcontinent and empire. This was distinct from China where Confucianism was fairly consistent in its teachings and values. Because of this, all across China the idea of Confucianism linked various provinces and areas like the vastly different North and South China together. A follower of Confucius from a remote southern province would probably follow the same ideals that another follower of Confucius from the North. This let the government unify the Chinese empire and bring together otherwise very different people under one government. This difference was probably due to the fact that Hinduism had no one founder to dispense core values and it was a polytheistic religion so there were many different gods to follow while Confucianism was based on the teachings of one man, Confucius and followed his individual teachings and the interpretations of them. Of the two, China was much more unified while India remained incredibly diverse. However, both these governments and empires were more united than the Classical Greek civilization which was composed of fiercely independent city states. A social similarity was that these religions helped helped the government maintain social differences in society. India had the highly inflexible caste system while China had a more lenient social pyramid. The caste system was supported by the belief in reincarnation and karma in India where if you lived a good life as a good person you would reincarnate into a good caste because of your karma so you were ultimately responsible for your own caste. In China, Confucianism promoted the idea that those in lower classes should stay there and respect their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One aliment in particular, Agoraphobia, is of particular interest to me as it affects many of my family members in ways both subtle and drastic, and I cannot help but wonder if I too will fall victim to it. I know from previous knowledge that this particular ailment is a mental one, though I have witnessed it causing drastic physical symptoms, and that it generally involves a fear of leaving home for an open, public place. Through research, I aim to find the cause of agoraphobia, including anything that predisposes one to it, and treatments for it, including both medications and therapy. Aside from written, digital sources, it was required of me to conduct an interview for this assignment, something that I at first was weary of, but was ultimately glad I did. I first had to decide on to whom to interview, and I did so by first asking myself what I wanted to know more from a real person, and what would be easier to find out from a real person. This essentially boiled down to talking to either a doctor about treatment or a patient about how the disease is truly experienced. Eventually I chose to do the later, because finding medical papers was relatively easy, but finding out the real difficulties of the disease was something that was too personal for most scientific sources. I chose to interview my aunt, Linda Pistole, as she out of all of my family had the worst case of agoraphobia, and contacted her through a simple phone call. She agreed to the interview and arranged to answer my questions over lunch at her house the next day. I conducted the interview rather cautiously, as I knew it was a difficult topic, so gentleness was key. Tape recording was out of the question during the interview so I took notes instead, and knew that I could always call again if I managed to forget something important. Overall, I felt that the interview went better than I expected. • 11. Woman With Peacocks Distinctively Visual Woman with Peacocks, is a commercial lithographic print. While the sheet is 16 inches by 12 and 1/16th inches, the image itself is 13 3/8 inches by 8 7/8 inches. The print is a part of the Elisha Whittlesey Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art located in New York City. The print, Woman with Peacocks, was created in 1897 by an English born American artist named, Louis John Rhead. There is no type of text in the print, so I have an assumption that it was not used in any time of advertisement but was instead, created for the pleasure of viewing. This lithographic print depicts a woman in period clothing and adorned hair in an outdoor setting with trees and leaves, and what appears to be a two sections of grass or ground divided by a set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dress that the woman is wearing, is a maroon color which is also used in the some of the feathers on the peacocks. A poppy red color in between the curved lines, creates a band of bright color that divides a cobalt blue ground on the left and somewhat muted teal grass on the right. This bright, intense poppy red color is also used in the top part of the sky. The sky may be a two toned poppy red on the top and the bottom half is a paler poppy red color. The bottom paler poopy red could also be a wall surrounding the landscape. The peacocks faces, some feathers, and portions of the symbolic peacock tail feathers are a poppy red color. The sleeves, waist band, and neckline of the woman s dress are also the poppy red color as well as the dress pattern that mimics the shape of the peacock tail feathers. The warm color of the sky could be an unrealistic representation or an intense sunset or sunrise. The calm vivid blue and less bright teal of the trees, leaves, and landscape are in contrast with the energy of the poppy red color. These complementary colors created a balance in the print. The teal grass is located in the center with teal tree trucks on the right and the same teal is used in the leaves in the left top corner. This color is also the body color of the peacock on the woman s left side as well as in the feathers of both peacocks. The cobalt blue is used in the landscape layered on top and below the teal grass that is divided by the poppy red curved band. The leaves in the trees are the cobalt blue color as well as the body of the peacock on the woman s right side and details in the feathers on both. • 13. Propaganda In The Hitler Youth The pinnacle of the movement is embodied during the raging battles of World War II. At present, it is apparent that the entire barrage of propaganda for seven plus years was in preparation to send German youths, both boys and girls, to both fronts to fight the Allied powers. According to expert David Welch of the BBC, the Nazi usage of propaganda was so persuasive that Hitlerjugend became paramilitary troops who were sent directly to Poland to fight the Soviets as well as to the Rhine region to fend off the Americans. One such propaganda poster depicted a father with a SS armband helping his son shoot a gun, both of them in full military attire, as well as another which, when translated, says, For Freedom and Life; The People s Storm, (see Appendix B) and Welch argued that such encouragement would have filled the youth on the battlefield with drive. The surprising fanaticism and reckless bravado of the Hitler Youth in battle left the Western Allied forces astonished. There were reports of accounts which detailed how the adolescent boys fought till their death without the thought of surrendering; young boys were shot by soldiers who were old enough to be their own fathers. From the D Day and Invasion of Normandy, the Hitlerjugend lost 8000 over the course of six hours. Even boys at the age of seventeen were described as ruthless fighters, who would outfight their fellow adult Nazi soldiers, and this can be directly attributed to their indoctrination. Out of the ... The civilization has its roots to Mesopotamia, a plain between the Tigris River and the Euphrates River, which is now in modern day Iraq. The Babylonians are notoriously famous in their discoveries and inventions, most of which we still use today. The civilization developed ideas such as astronomy, in which they created the Saros Cycle, a cycle used to predict solar and lunar eclipses. The Babylonians were also masters in architecture, constructing buildings like the Hanging Gardens using innovative techniques including glass covered bricks and adornments of gold and bronze. However, despite many of these discoveries being forgotten or lost, their advancements in mathematics have been kept for centuries, and have brought modern ideas of angles, quadratic equations and even knowledge about the Pythagoras theorem, before Pythagoras himself existed. One modern day use of mathematics and quadratic equations, created by Babylonians, was the collection of taxes. So pairing this joyful word with something that so many people dread is admittedly an odd choice. Used as a marking of fate, a kiss of death is a concept that seems very taboo, but really this comparison of light and dark has been used more often than we may think. In Kate Chopin s short story, The Story of an Hour , she utilizes imagery by using language that is often self contradictory. With her combination of dark and cheerful imagery, Chopin creates a very uneasy mood throughout the story that helps to reflect Mrs. Mallard s emotional conflict with her physical surroundings. After Mr. Mallards announced death, Chopin used the sky as a type of symbolic imagery. In a state of suspension, Mrs. Mallard stood at the open window, looking out at the scenery in front of her house. As she looked out the window, she saw that There were patches of blue sky showing here and there through the clouds that had met and piled one above the other, (Chopin 1). In this example, Chopin uses her imagery to reflect the stress that is being lifted from Mrs. Mallard. Over the course of her marriage, Louise Mallard had been suppressing these feelings of entrapment, causing them to build on themselves like the heavy weight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Buffalo Wild Wings Mission Analysis Buffalo Wild Wings Mission Analysis Gavin Thomas Introduction In 1982, Jim Disbrow and Scott Lowery opened up their first restaurant and called it Buffalo Wild Wings Weck near the campus of The Ohio State University. The two entrepreneurs grew the restaurant to thirty five restaurants over the next twelve years. Unfortunately, the cost of the growth was potentially bankruptcy inducing debt. In 1994, Sally Smith became Chief Financial Officer and two years later became Chief Executive Officer. Under Smith s leadership, Buffalo Wild Wings escaped the throngs of debt and prospered for almost a decade before going public in 2003. In an effort to target a larger audience and build their brand, Buffalo Wild Wings revamped its restaurant in 2012. Essay On EU Law Whilst there has been contention to the definition of direct effects, it has generally been explained to be a principle that bestows upon the individuals of the European Union (hereafter, the EU) Member State, a right which flows from EU law. This conferring of right would enable an individual to invoke the provision before the courts. An invention of the Court of Justice of the European Union (hereafter, the CJEU) and first recognized in Van Gend en Loose , this principle, therefore, goes to the heart of the supremacy of EU law. The question in Van Gend was whether Article 12 of the Treaty of Rome allows individuals to enforce the rights against the State. The wording of Article 288 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (hereafter, the TFEU) is crystal clear; Directives are addressed to Member States and would have to first be transposed into national law within the given deadline. However, where the Directive in question can fulfil the conditions in Van Gend and have expired , they may have a direct effect. Nevertheless, this direct effect is restricted only to that of a horizontal nature. Marshall disallows individuals from enforcing a Directive against a private body. Concerns were raised when there was a call to allow Directives to be horizontally effective. One point of contention was the fact that Article 288 expressly mentions that Directives are binding upon Member States who were expressly addressed. Another argument raised was focused on the distinction between Regulations and Directives. The transposition process for Directives is what differentiates the two. To take away this ability would be to blur the demarcation between the two types of secondary EU law sources as they would both be rendered directly applicable. Despite the criticisms, however, Marshall was affirmed in Dori a decade later. Yet, a problem stems from the refusal of having Directives be horizontally effective; claimants are unable to rely ... Reflection in Iris Murdoch s Under the Net Reflection in Iris Murdoch s Under the Net In her novel Under the Net, Iris Murdoch examines the nature of reality through the thoughts and relationships of the novel s main character, Jake Donaghue. A recurring theme in the novel is the idea of reflection, in both senses of the word: Jake is continually thinking about ideas, and he is also forever trying to see himself as he really is. Many of the instances of reflection in the novel occur near rivers or are connected in some way to currents. The relationship between appearance and reality is a central theme in the novel, and Jake s search for the truth includes the desire to learn if one can ever truly know another person. Jake s fear of intimacy is due in part to his concern for the truth; he states that although he once briefly thought of marrying Anna, he has never wanted a communion of the souls because it is already hard enough to tell the truth to oneself (p31). Jake nevertheless again comes to care deeply for Anna, and in a frantic search of Paris, he finally finds her at the city s fireworks celebration: The river was black now under the night sky and glassy, a black mirror in which every lamp raised a pole of light and the conflagration in the sky above dropped an occasional piece of gold. The line of people on the other bank was clearly reflected in it. Anna s image was quite still beneath her. I wondered if in the river...my own reflection was as vividly shown. In her effort to almost brag about how well read she is, Marilynne completely loses sight of the purpose and the attention of the reader. Robinson emphasizes some her argument on employing logical persuasion to counteract her shortcomings in credibility. It s frequent that events in history can repeat themselves, and understanding the implications of past actions helps to prevent future mistakes. Fear is an emotion that is, in our society today, unavoidable. Yet, this is precisely what creates an atmosphere of political or social unrest within the nation and abroad. Because, it serves as a tool by which ideas can be spread or perhaps forced down upon those easily convinced. She cites guns as being a prime example of this case, saying: gun sales stimulate gun sales, and when people see weapons, they have every reason on earth to fear the worst (4 Robinson). Stories of scandals seem to make the news headlines almost weekly in college and professional athletics. One arrow is meant to create feelings of intense love and infatuation, while the other is meant to create a feeling of fear and repugnance for the lover. Cupid shoots these arrows at Apollo and Daphne (respectively), and so the drama begins. Apollo chases Daphne relentlessly, and as she grows weary from running, she calls on her father Peneus for help. Peneus hears his daughter s desperate plea and delivers aid by transforming her into a tree. However, Daphne s transformation begs the question of whether Cupid s arrow actually works on the sun god or not. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We were convinced that if we put in a plastic toy moving at the right speed, they would follow it. Newts typically live on land as adults and mate exclusively in water. Newt mating game To find out, researchers placed male female pairs of alpine newts (Ichthyosaura alpestris) and palmate newts (Lissotriton helveticus) into water filled plastic containers for receptivity tests. The newts passed the test and were ready for the next phase if they completed the courtship ritual (females weren t allowed to complete the insemination). The team then put two female pairs into pheromone infused courtship water; some pairs consisted of two alpine newts, other pairs had one female of each species. If the water contained pheromones from a male of her species, the female would desperately try to court the other female. In some cases, two female alpine newts tried to follow each other, resulting in the pair circling one another. In some two species trials, one female chased after another, even as the unreceptive partner tried to escape the container. The Necessity Of Piercing The Corporate Veil It was Lord Sumption in Prest v Petrodel Resources who recognised that there is a limited power to pierce the corporate veil exceptional cases when it is deemed necessary to do so. This serves as acknowledgement it is still possible to pierce the corporate veil but only as an absolute last resort. The aim of this essay is to argue that the above statement is true to a certain extent regarding the necessity of piercing the corporate veil and that perhaps, the way to achieve a more practical and fairer outcome would be introduce greater flexibility to the use of this measure. Allowing some room for the judges to exercise this greater flexibility may cause a slight confusion in the beginning but over time, it is likely that judges themselves would have developed a set of principles to apply when determining if it is necessary to pierce the corporate veil. In the long run, it is submitted that this would produce a fairer outcome for the parties involved as judges would be able to apply the principles developed to individual cases before making a decision. Due to the separate legal personality of companies, a company can own shares in other companies. This leads to the formation of corporate groups which can be made up of over 100 companies and are often owned by a single parent company . The corporate veil was introduced to protect shareholders in order to encourage entrepreneurial risk taking and innovation . Limited liability was introduced at a time where corporate groups were unknown of . Nonetheless, courts have automatically applied the doctrine of limited liability to corporate groups in order to shield parent companies from the debts of their subsidiaries without even considering if it is necessary to do so . Furthermore, in consideration of all the economic wealth and power that corporate groups have, they can barely be considered as the entrepreneurial upstarts that the limited liability doctrine aimed to protect. • 47. The Pros And Cons Of Inclusion For Special Education Essay In this paper I am going to be talking about the pros and cons of inclusion for Special Education children. By definition, Inclusion rejects the use of special schools or classrooms to separate students with disabilities from students without disabilities. Special Education is a topic that is important, even though people may not realize how important it is for the fact that they don t understand what goes into Special Education for children in schools. Negative beliefs many people have about individuals with disabilities may often be based on fear, misconceptions, and lack of knowledge (Wright, 1998). There are many children who have Special Education in schools and I feel that inclusion is something that parents think about for their children, weather it is positive or negative thoughts. There is an issue weather inclusion is best for children or if it is hindering the child s academic performance. I am going to explore if inclusion is better for children with disabilities or if inclusion is not beneficial for children with disabilities. In my opinion, all educators should have the knowledge they need when it comes to knowing what is best for these children and what will truly benefit them throughout there life s. when it comes to Special Education, there are parents with disabled children as well as non disabled children, who have so multiple opinions about inclusion. By the end of this essay, I want to know what sincerely is beneficial for Special Educational children. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
