St. Jude Children s Research
Imagine instead of learning how to ride a bike and tie your shoelaces, you were learning how to cope
with living at a hospital, painful routine testing, and the uncertainty of tomorrow. This is what
childhood looks like for thousands of kids worldwide who are battling cancer and other diseases.
Without organizations such as ALSAC (American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities) and St. Jude
Children s Research hospital, many of these children would never get the chance to live. What is so
unique about St. Jude is that, according to their annual report (2015), approximately 75% of their
funding comes from public contributions. Without the support of its donors, St. Jude would not be
where it is today, leading the fight against childhood cancer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

to develop a cure for sickle cell disease using bone marrow transplants ( Translating Science, 2016 ).
This year more than 7,000 children from all over the world will be treated at St. Jude and families will

Thoughts Of The Asian Crisis
Term Paper Thoughts of the Asian Crisis (1997 1998) In the period between 1997 to 1998, a great
economic storm blew the some fast developing countries, especially Thailand, Indonesia and
Malaysia. They had great economic development before the crisis, but left almost everything at the
end of the storm. The most obvious impact of the crisis is the capital outflows and currency
devaluation. So, people in those developing countries began to find who should be responding to the
crisis. International speculators were appropriate targets to be blamed due to their actives during the
crisis. The President of Indonesia, Suharto, even claimed There are [parties] trying to engineer the fall
of the rupiah to the 20,000 level [against the dollar]. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only blaming speculators for the past experience is not appropriate: the East Asian economic
structure, fiscal policy of responding the crisis and political structure possibly played more significant
roles on aggrandizing this crisis. Admittedly, the active speculators capital operation is the catalyze of
the crisis: before the crisis, those 3 Asian countries are quite similar: All of them just endure a great
economic progress for the recession of Japan in the early 1990s. The rate of export was gradually
carrying a higher weight; the real GDP had more than 8 percentage annual growths constantly.
(DeRosa 85) Also, they had a quick credit expansion for wooing the global capital for investment. As
for the section of currency exchange, Thailand and Indonesia held the peg to the U.S dollar. Malaysia
is little bit different: it did hold float exchange rate but that is essentially a sort of dirty float which
means the government will influence the direction of exchange rate frequently to keep the exchange
rate in a certain range. In anyway, those three countries tried to use relatively sturdy currency policy
and quickly increasing economic environment to attract international capital. Admittedly, this function
fairly functioning before the crisis, but there are some potential problems are still unsolved which
made their economy not as sturdy as those countries thought

Athens was an ancient city state in Greece. The city is located by the Aegean Sea, in Attica, Greece.
Athens is sometimes called: Birthplace of democracy.
Food Supply: Athens wasn t a great place for farming, but they did have lots of olives. They traded
goods, pottery and other stuff for more food, such as wheat.
Water Supply: Most homes had their own wells and/or cisterns for collecting rainwater, but still relied
on the public fountains in the city for extra water. They also used pipes.

Analysis of Sidgwick s Third Axiom Essay
This paper will object to Sidgwick s axiom that from the point of view of the universe, the good of one
is no more important than the good of another on the ground that it is analytic. I present the purpose
and content of the axiom with a further explanation of what I take the point of view of the universe to
mean. I then consider the response of the Egoist to the axiom and Sidgwick s counter response to
illustrate the tautology of the argument. The tautology of the argument brings it in line with other
axioms that Sidgwick rejects as insignificant. Thus, I argue that the third axiom fails to meet Sidgwick
s own standards, making its utility and significance questionable. In response to this, I consider that
the axiom may be analytic but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the axiom holds that we must regard the good of others as equal to our own good unless, when
viewed from an impartial position, it is less due to special circumstances . For example, Sidgwick
states that it would be wrong for a man to pursue his own good on any occasion if it would result in
another individual having to sacrifice a greater amount of their good. The problem with the axiom lies
in the use of the phrase from the point of view of the universe . The phrase must be included because
without it an Egoist could easily reject the axiom, which would be unacceptable for Sidgwick.
However, the inclusion of this phrase could lead one to object to the axiom on the basis that it is
analytic. As it stands, the Egoist can escape the axiom so long as he holds his happiness as his ultimate
end. He can simply say he is not interested in taking up that point of view and thus it does not apply.
Sidgwick acknowledges this to be true, so long as the Egoist does not believe that his happiness or
pleasure is Good, not only for him but from the point of view of the Universe... as by saying that
nature designed him to seek his own happiness. If the Egoist believes something like this, Sidgwick
thinks it becomes relevant to tell him that, when taken universally, his good is no more important than
that of any other person. Thus, his argument becomes, if you adopt the

Juan Ponce De Leon s Pascua Florida
In addition to early exploration there is a lot of history in the nature of Florida. On Juan Ponce de
Leon s first voyage in 1513, he decided to call Florida Pascua Florida , which is also known as the
feast of flowers. He named Florida after this feast because when he took his first look at the landscape
he was overwhelmed with beautiful flowers. Florida has a relatively warm and sunny climate and
Florida is also home to over 1,700 rivers, streams, and creeks ( Florida Vol. 1 ). A major water feature
in Florida that dates back to 6,000 years ago is Lake Okeechobee which means, big water. It was a
major water and food source to the natives that called Florida their home. Many years ago there were

The Literary Works That I Will Be Featuring
The two literary works that I will be featuring are a short story and novel; both set centuries apart yet,
connect with one another in linguistic principles. Both horror writers and with this genre, semantics
can be quite fascinating. Both King and Poe, focus on the various levels of semantics horror and
psychological. The semantic perspective of Christine are that of modern day slang, teenage
symbolism. With semantic idioms and jokes, you would see the humor behind the man with the scary
mask. Christine s characters are teenagers, besides the a little parental irresponsibility, with these
hormonal teens, plus Christine. Arnie and Dennis, were full of idioms, such as, I just had this call to
nature, or I gotta take a whiz! (King) Some commonly used idioms were most directly, ones of love
and anger. Arnie due to the possession or should I say obsession of Christine, his vocabulary goes
from chess club nerb to garage bralling bully. The bully, Repperton was as rough and ignorant as they
come and he spoke like it. Keep your jock on, man or as Dennis put it, Eat me raw through a Flavor
Straw! (King) These guys were the kings of semantic idioms. The semantic perspective is about
understanding meaning in words and their sentence structure. Shifts in meaning changes, especially
with slang words. The meaning of this popular American English culture novel was a metaphorical
teenage love triangle. For Poe, his short story, The Tell Tale Heart would be dramatically

My Mother s Family s Story
Preface My mother had mentioned to me that her family s story is longer than a book, however, it is so
hard for me to ask the details of what had happened to her because all the stories in her life strike a
chord in her heart. For example, almost all of my father s friends in Hong Kong were the people who
escaped from communist China. Their stories were soul stirring. Many of them left their families in
China. Their vicissitudes of life contained joy, sorrows, partings and reunions. My father was
considered very lucky because he survived. Many of them capsized in the rough sea; some of them
simply spent all of their energy and died on the way to their dream; some of them were caught by the
militias or the soldiers; some of them were extradited back to China by the British government. Their
families left in China suffered numerous humiliations. However, more than thirty years having passed,
their stories were dim without a voice in history. Either their stories were too bitter to bring up, or they
did not want to be named as a traitor to their country. During Mao s era, and even for a while after,
anyone who escaped to Hong Kong was considered a traitor and turned over to the enemy. Escaping to
Hong Kong was a very sensitive topic. Therefore, we would hear these stories all the time, but we
hardly ever see anything written down about what they had been through. I have lived in the United
States for more than thirty years, vivid memories of my childhood still

Uniqueness In Lolita
Dr. Stanton Samenow wrote, You cannot be other than who you are. A crime that appears out of
character can be understood only by discerning what the character of the individual truly is .
Deciphering the characteristics that will identify a criminal can be very situational. Criminal actions
all depend on who they decide to be in the world around them. For law breakers like Humbert
Humbert, appeasing his pedohilia s urges becomes his main goal once setting his eyes on his landlord

other than who he is. He pursues Lolita relentlessly, gaining her trust to eventually abusive her

Despite being bombarded in many situations by the landlord, Charlotte Haze, Humbert manages to
sexually assault Lolita without being caught. He narrates his thoughts during the encounters and
recalls ignoring the fear of being discovered in the act. During his first sexual engagement with Lolita
he mentions that, there seemed to be nothing to prevent [his] muscular thumb from reaching the hot
hollow of her groin just as you might tickle and caress a giggling child just that (Nabokov 61).
Humbert points out that he feels nothing preventing him from touching and groping Lolita. Despite
knowing that his actions are immoral, Humbert continues them, confident enough to not fear the
consequences that could happen. This criminal thinking error Humbert shows grants him the ability to
push the boundary when advancing sexually on Lolita. After gaining full possession of now orphaned
Dolores Haze, Humbert traps her in a shared hotel room with an extensive plan to rape her. Despite
her slight stirring and growing understanding of his sly abuse, Humbert still, after a long stirless vigil ,
had no fear when moving his, tentacles towards her again, and this time the creak of the mattress did

Robespierre And The Sans Culottes Declared Essay
The month of September would be remembered as one of the bloodiest months in French history, in
particular, September 5, 1793. On this day, Robespierre and the Sans Culottes declared terror is the
order of the day. These words would begin a period of violence where the enemies of the Revolution
were executed en masse. Between 1793 and 1794, thousands of French citizens were imprisoned and
hundreds were killed by a group called the Committee of Public Safety. They claimed they were
acting in the best interest of the people, but were, in fact, acting in the interest of wiping out their
political adversaries. The head of this committee was political leader Maximilien Robespierre. He was
referred to as the incorruptible by his peers because of his unwavering commitment to the Revolution.
By the end of this period however, he would fall victim to his own committee. This would be the end
of The Terror. The Terror cannot be isolated as a great event of the French Revolution without first
examining the events that lead to it. The flight of King Louis XVI and his family, the eventual
execution of the king and Marie Antoinette, the purge of the Girodins as a political group, and the
assassination of radical journalist, Jean Paul Marat, are a few of the significant events that lead to
terror being called the order of the day. Although there are many other significant events throughout
the French Revolution, the aforementioned occurrences are key in what led to the

Similarities And Differences Of The Egyptian, Zhou...
Midterm I INTRODUCTION In historic times, multiple Societies of people living and collaborating
together in a community is what led to the formation of many Empires. Empires were comprised of
similar groups of people that were most often geographically located within close proximities. It is
interesting to compare and contrast three societies which became Empires: the Egyptian, Zhou
Chinese, and Persian. Each Empire is responsible for contributing to a foundational advancement that
has been used in future generations. I will compare the similarities and contrasts of each and explain
why I believe the Persian Empire was the most successful Empire. I will start by addressing the
primary similarities, which are that each Empire was responsible for innovating and creating things in
the following areas of: mathematics, architecture, and philosophy. In contrast, the differences that
existed were due to each Empire creating advancements and developments as a need from their
respective demography, which means their environment and surroundings dictated the areas they
excelled and innovated the most in. After researching these, I deemed the most successful Empire to
be the one in which created the most widely used things throughout the entire world, and that are still
in use today. Also, I determined the most important determining factor of an Empire being successful
was if it had an acceptable democratic and equal societal philosophy. Thus, I found all these successful

Abstract
The preamble of The Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest
Rights) Act, 2006 (hereinafter referred to as the Forest Rights Act or FRA) states that the Act was
passed to undo the historical injustice committed against the forest dwelling Scheduled Tribes and
other traditional forest dwellers who have been residing in the forests for centuries, but whose rights
could not be recorded. It becomes imperative to understand the legal institutional structure of the
Indian government to better understand the decision making capabilities in regards to forests in India.
There are so many legalities and so many laws that are in place that it is a complex affair to
understand how law operates. With so many laws passed at different point of time and space it is
tough to really enforce these laws with them contradicting each other. For example according to one
law (Indian Forest Act), the forests fall under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Environment and Forests,
making forests property of the Indian government and in another law (Forest Rights Act), the nodal
agency is Ministry of Tribal Affairs and indigenous people are also considered as a part

Classification And Discussion Of Esterification
Results and discussion
Esterification extent:
The color reaction using hydroxylamine hydrochloride was used with modification to quantify the
extent of esterification of proteins and the results showed that the highest level of esterification was
recorded for esterified cowpea protein isolate (82%) followed by esterified common bean protein
isolate (79%).
Functional properties of native and modified proteins:
PH solubility profile:
The pH solubility curves of native and esterified cowpea protein are shown in Fig.1. The solubility
profile of native cowpea indicate that protein solubility reduced as the pH increased from 2 to 4,
which corresponding to its isoelectric point, after which subsequent increases in pH increased protein
solubility progressively. The minimum solubility for native cowpea (10 %) was at pH 4 which
corresponds to its isoelectric point ( IP).The highest protein solubility (80%) was observed at pH 10.
Esterification increased protein solubility in the acidic pH range from 2 to 5. Increasing pH more than
5 reduced the solubility and giving a minimum value (9 %) at pH 6. Methylated cowpea protein was
more soluble in the acidic range of pH and less soluble in the alkaline range of pH as compared to
unmodified protein. On the other hand The solubility profile of native common bean indicate that
protein solubility reduced as the pH increased from 2 to 5, which corresponding to its isoelectric point,
after which subsequent increases in pH increased protein

One more category in between 2A and 3 can also made having a lesser premium than quality 3. But
the various other implications of this step should be taken into account like increased final processing
cost and resentment from the farmers.
5.) Decreasing the truck waiting time
The main problem that the receiving plant is facing is that the trucks have to wait a lot particularly in
the peak season before they can unload the berries. This cope up with the problem the cooperative
installed an additional Kiwanee Dumper last year (i.e. 1969) but that didn t help in solving the
problem.
We first analyze the average truck waiting time for the next year with present capacities and assuming
70% to be wet berries and rest dry.
As the wet berry processing would take lesser time if it bulk packed, we assume that during the peak
season the wet berries are only bulk packed and dry berries are bag packed.
Assuming a berry arrival of 18,000 bbl in a day (7am to 7pm) in the peak season at a constant rate and
, the average wet berry arrival rate would be (18000/12) * (70/100) = 1050 bbls per day and dry berry
arrival rate would be 450 bbls per day.
.
With the processing starting at 11 am , the holding bins will continue to be filled at this rate subject to
the maximum capacities for wet berries (3200 bbls) and dry berries (4000 bbls). The bins capable of
holding wet berries would be

Starbucks, A Large Portion Of Starbucks
For Starbucks, business is good. Starbucks continues to come up with more and more innovations and
ways to market their products. Last year Starbucks started bottling their iced coffee and selling them
as a new product lines in their stores, as well as many new sandwich choices. The ability to provide
fresh new ideas year after year provides Starbucks with a growing customer base and a growing net
gain. Starbucks will continue to come up with new ideas and products that will continue to bring in
more customers to established stores and the means to build stores in new markets expanding their
ability to generate revenue, their ability to innovate and market to different cultures globally.
Starbucks ability to cut cost anywhere it can enables them to keep the money they use to operate at a
minimum, leaving more of their revenue as profit. This allows Starbucks to expand and grow rapidly
and increase their profitability greatly.
The Chinese market makes up a large portion of Starbucks profit. China s population plays a big role
in the importance of that market to Starbucks and the ability to pull a big profit from that region. In an
interview with Charlie Rose, Howard Schultz said, We educated [China] on coffee...now [China is]
drinking as much coffee as [America] is. (Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, bloomberg.com) This
statement shows how quickly the Chinese market expanded to the size of the American market and is
continuing to expand. This growth will not stop

Sports Out Of The World
Yingqin Lui
English 1113, Section 12182
10 September 2014
Jinx!
There are many sports out in the world. There are also two in particular whose name is the same
internationally as one of our own sports here in America. Can you guess it? That s right football. The
sport we call soccer was originally called association football but started recently in the 20th century.
The new term was not popular at first it was doubted because it was spelled Socker In support of this
theory, Szymanski cites a 1905 letter to the editor of The New York Times from Francis Tabor of New
York, who warned of the spreading heresy of the word socker so he suggested soccer a little fad that
the Oxford and Cambridge students starting putting er at the end of many words, such as foot er, sport
er, and as Association did not take an er easily, it was, and is, sometimes spoken of as Soccer.America
chose to change and the world did not. The American game football was called football because
simply because the players have to use their feet. Even though these sports have the same name and
originated from the same sport, Rugby, They have many differences as well such as the ball,
gameplay, and their means of protection. The game ball for these sports very in ways more than one. A
soccer ball is round for instance, better aerodynamics for cutting through the air. Also the round
complexity lets the ball bounce, roll, and spin off of players. They also have six sided pads that are the

Compare And Contrast Rhetoric And Rhetoric
The idea of rhetoric has long been presented as something which is evil and should be done away
with. The same goes with the idea of politics. Politics is understood to be something as bad, cunning,
and misuse of power. Although, politics and rhetoric have some deeper similarities but when we look
at them closely, we find that both appear in different lime light altogether when they are used for a
good purpose combined with pious motive. No matter how hard we try, we cannot escape politics and
rhetoric as they form the very basis of our daily routine life. Whether it is our mood, emotions,
thoughts, writings, gestures, facial expressions, decision making ability, or even silence, we find it
hard and nearly impossible to escape from the periphery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They bring out the relevant side of the rhetoric and explain that why to make use of rhetoric in the first
place. Aristotle in one of his work the Art of Rhetoric explains that not everyone is capable of
following the formal logic and therefore it is necessary to make use of rhetoric when attempting to
persuade people through the concepts that were available to everyone . Rhetoric likewise becomes a
concept digesting aid for a layman. Aristotle emphasized in the need of the rhetoric. He believed that
contradiction was necessary not only because one could make people aware of evil motives but also so
that unjust arguments could be rejected. Rhetoric in this way is the main machine of which dialectics
is the gear which is required to produce truth. It is through dialectics that two individuals discuss a
concept to reach the conclusion about its aptness and validity. For instance, upon seeing a rocket take
off, two individuals argue, A says the rocket is flying up and B argues that the earth is being pushed
down. This argument requires dialectics and it is through the use of rhetoric one may come to a
conclusion but it is not necessary that it may be true. To clarify, if B is a good orator but his argument
is wrong then for the sake of winning the argument he may win it but in reality he will be wrong. This
example is of putting a bad case persuasively. Rhetorical skills have been misused here and have not
been put to some good use as mentioned by Socrates i.e. moral improvement or noble type of

Analysis Of Aaron Sapiro And Henry Ford
Aaron Sapiro and Henry Ford confrontation on hate speech is iconic in nature. In Sapiro v. Ford,
Sapiro sues Ford for framing Sapiro in a Jewish conspiracy. This confrontation shows that aspects of
hate speech is disregarded. At the end of the case, Ford issues an apology, which is written by his
lawyer, Louis Marshall. (Woeste 1). This apology fails to mention that Ford never wrote it to begin
with, which is why Ford later writes a book about his court case with Sapiro (Woeste 1). Antisemitic
attitudes were present during this time, but they were muted unlike the more violent expressions of
Jew hatred that was seen in Europe (Woeste 3). Due to these muted attitudes, Ford was never
prosecuted for being antisemitic, until Sapiro sued him. Another factor is the fact that Ford was
praised in America, which in turn, helped him during his lawsuit in a societal method. Since Ford was
praised, Ford s attitudes and feelings were prevalent in society and were praised. Due to these factors,
the end results Sapiro had hoped for was a near failure.
In Gladwell s David and Goliath, certain aspects of this iconic story is disregarded, which is why
Gladwell states we have interpreted this story wrong. One of the issues Gladwell brings up is that
Goliath was ready for close to close combat, but was caught off guard by David s approach in combat.
David instead reaches down and picks up five smooth stones as his choice for combat (Gladwell 8).

strengthen developing countries ability to trade more with external partners (including the UK) while

European Union, existing relationships with African countries had to be renovated in order to establish
new trade and investment links, hence African regions would allow British businesses to arise again.
The African oil exports and metals are indispensable for the UK agricultural and manufacturing areas
nowadays, and as the UK has more access to African trading market, they also take advantage of an
easier access to those natural resources. If the UK supports African economic growth by strengthening
their trade agreements, then the UK would increase the living standard of its population. However,
African manufactured goods are being exported to many other powerful countries in the world and

NUMMI was created as a team based organization with sense of interdependence and unity. There
were just three level management levels; in contrast, old GM s plant had a six levels hierarchy. A team
leader, who was responsible not only for coordinating teamwork and trainings of team members, but
also was able to replace a team member on line if needed, represented the first level of management.
The second level management in addition was responsible for budgeting and planning. Moreover,
these managers were expected to resolve the problems at the lowest possible level.
In order to foster fair and efficient environment NUMMI designed a new job structure; specifically,
job classifications were reduced from 81 to 3 with the same wage rate. Developed reward system also
tended to equalize rewards among employees. For instance, a team leader received only a 50 cent
hourly premium and each team was awarded with a small social budget.
Continual training system and information sharing among all team members let the company to

employees by pushing down responsibility for the production and quality at the lowest possible level,
to a worker. Meanwhile, the policy of mutual trust or no layoff policy established a real trust between

Interpersonal Communications During The Movie Steel Magnolias
Interpersonal Communication is a very important ingredient in making strong, healthy relationships.
Communicating is how we get a better understanding of one another s perception of things, as well as
how we help someone to better understand ours. We need to express our feelings in relationships and
know that they are reciprocated. Not communicating leads to problems and misunderstandings. People
need to learn to understand what the other person is trying to communicate. Interpersonal

The Growing Importance Of Ethical Business Managers
The Growing Importance of Ethical Business Managers
Julia Shaw Hillary Shaw (2010) describe that the need for ethical business managers and practices has
never been greater. Recent financial scandals have exposed issues in the management decision making
process, suggesting a need to develop the necessary analytical and empathetic qualities so future
corporate leaders may be moral managers (Julia Shaw Hillary Shaw, 2010). This recent pattern of
business misconduct (Michaelson, 2015) and single minded pursuit of profit has made the promotion
of ethical values a key concern for modern business organizations (Julia Shaw Hillary Shaw, 2010).
This paper will discuss how literary fiction (i.e. novels, literature, narrative, fiction, drama, comics)
can help organizations develop ethical managers by discussing (1) the growing importance of ethical
business managers (2) the benefits of a novel approach to business ethics, and (3) the moral value of
literary fiction to business.
During the past few years, many companies have seen their reputations plummet in the wake of
various corporate scandals (Julia Shaw Hillary Shaw, 2010). With this context of an amoral and inept
set of global management practices, Julia Shaw Hillary Shaw (2010) propose the need for a new breed
of manager, namely the moral manager. While Eastwood describes that leadership is an essentially
moral act, he elaborates that there is a disconnection between this notion and the behavior of some

The Sound Of Silence By Simon And Garfunkel
The sound of silence The sound of silence was originally composed by Simon and Garfunkel in 1964
and it was number one on billboard s hot 100 for a week. Originally this song falls under the folk rock
and soft rock genres. The two covers I have choose are by Disturbed (2015) and Touch of Glass
(2016). While many older people have heard of the song sound of silence by Simon and Garfunkel
most of the younger generation have only heard of the song by Disturbed with many people believing
that disturbed wrote the song in the first place. Most people have never heard of Touch of Glass let
alone that they sung this cover. The most major difference I have found between all 3 songs is the
mood that artist gives off. With Simon and Garfunkel giving off more of a upbeat and funky mood that
makes the song seem to have good feelings attached to it. Then Disturbed gives off more of a dark and
foreboding mood that leaves the listener feeling lonely. Then Touch of Glass in my opinion gives off a
more country and western mood that shows hardship in life. Simon and Garfunkel is trying to show
silence and darkness as more of a friend that you are glad to see and to show that silence is not a bad
thing with their tone. Disturbed on the other hand is trying to show the sound of silence and darkness
as more of a old friend you would rather not meet until the very end. Very similar with Disturbed s
song the Touch of Glass they seem to try to tell you of the hardship of silence and

Home Schooling is Not the Best Option
For those of us who have never been exposed into the world of home schooling, it carries a certain
mystique. We might envision a family alternating between algebra and Bible study, keeping a safe
distance from the rampant worldliness in schools. Or perhaps we see children sitting around the
kitchen table practicing spelling while mother supervises. Despite these traditional images, home
schooling is growing and gaining respect. This is due in part to high profile success stories like home
schoolers finishing first, second and third in the 2000 Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee or the
Colfax family in California who sent three sons to Harvard. However, home schooling raises many
questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both the left and right wings of home schooling are active today with an estimated 1.5 million home
schooled children, as many families have both philosophical and religious for their choice (Kantrowitz
Wingert 1). Joining them are many home schoolers who simply seek the highest quality education for
their child, which they believe public and even private schools can no longer provide.
Forty years ago home schooling did not satisfy compulsory education requirements in most states.
Due to a gradual change in legislature, all states accept home schooling as a valid alternative but
regulations vary by state. Lines asserts that at a minimum, families must file basic information with
either the state or local education agency (3/8).
One of the most important criteria to consider when looking at home schooling is academics. In an era
when the focus on accountability has become magnified, achievement of scholars is key to evaluating
education. One of the first things to consider when looking at the academic quality of education is the
ability of the teacher. Jennie and Donald Rakestraw, both professors at Georgia Southern College,
argue that some parents do not have the ability or the patience to teach their children well (277). A
home schooled child suffers the chance of an uneven education due to the imbalanced preparation of
the parent.
Along with the focus on accountability has come an increased need for measuring the achievement of

A Priority based Compromise Fuzzy Goal Programming Approach for Channel Allocation Problem
Abstract
Some companies produce and sell all of their own products through their own internal channels and
some use multiple external channels to distribute goods to consumers. Many authors have presented
mathematical model for channel allocation problem. Tsai et al (2008) presented a mixed integer fuzzy
goal programming model for channel allocation problem considering three different fuzzy goals. In
this paper we use the weighted root power mean method of aggregation for obtaining a priority based
solution of channel allocation problem where preferences are defined in terms of weights.
Keywords: Channel Allocation problem, Compromise fuzzy goal programming, multiobjective
optimization, weighted goal programming.
1. Introduction
Firms distribute their product through multiple distribution channels which include direct and indirect
channels. The channel in which distribution function is grouped by a supplier and one or more of
intermediaries, is known as an indirect channel. However, a direct channel distributes products from
producers to the users directly without introducing any intermediaries. Many reasons can be presented
for the firms to adopt multiple channel strategy because advances in information and manufacturing
technology have encouraged multiple channels. However, multiple channels for distribution of the
products in the market arise many challenges and one of them is the

Discussion Research On Parent Involvement Essay
Prior Research on Parent Involvement in Education
Before turning to our qualitative study of parent involvement in urban char
ter schools, the following sections outline the prior research on the benefits of parent involvement, the
barriers to involvement that exist, and the potential of the charter school context to reduce these
barriers.
Benefits of Parent Involvement
Decades of research point to the numerous benefits of parent involvement in education for not only
students but also for the parents involved, the school, and the wider community (Barnard, 2004;
Epstein, 2001; Fan Chen, 2001;
Henderson Mapp, 2002; Jeynes, 2003, 2007; Lee Bowen, 2006). De
spite the challenges in establishing a causal link between parent involvement and student achievement,
studies utilizing large databases have shown positive and significant effects of parent involvement on
both academic and behavioral outcomes (Fan Chen, 2001; Jeynes, 2003, 2007). For example, research
has found that parent involvement is related to a host of student achievement indi
cators, including better grades, attendance, attitudes, expectations, homework completion, and state
test results (Astone McLanahan, 1991; Cancio, West,
Young, 2004; Dearing, McCartney, Weiss, Kreider, Simpkins, 2004; Gut

The story s striking details and thought provoking ideas made it unpopular among the Port
Washington school board. It should be read in high schools, not be challenged for its one description
of a time bomb. The book is memorable and mature students can see past the image to reflect on the

Navigation and Pose Estimation Theory
Basic Theory In the previous chapter, we introduce about the indoor positioning system techniques
and the research directions. In this chapter we will describe the basic theory related with the
navigation and pose estimation systems for example, the coordinate system, the dead reckoning
method, the characteristic of Wi Fi radio signal propagation etc. For all of the basic ideas are very
important thing to understanding the configuration of our research as follow;
2.1 The Local Coordinate system The coordinate system was used to defined in local area
environment name is the Cartesian coordinate system refer to [55]. It can be referenced by placing the
origin to the local point consist with 3 reference axis, there are axis is directed to the vertical, axis is
pointed to the north and axis is directed to the east, see in figure 1. Figure 1 The Cartesian coordinate
system.
The plane is the horizontal plane and the vertical plane is defined perpendicular to the ellipsoid such a
coordinate system is also called a local horizontal coordinate system. From figure 1. can be described,
the projection point whose coordinates in global and local coordinate system are and respectively, one
has relation of as follow: (2.1)
Where the is the azimuth angle measure from the north clockwise, is the zenith distance that mean the
angle the vertical and the radian and r is the radian of the in the local system.

Arneson s Argument Of Degradation Of The Surrogate
Anderson s second argument is that of degradation of the surrogate. This thinking may be true in some
cases, but not all. Anderson makes the comparison of surrogates to a hatchery. Again, Anderson
herself degrades surrogates by removing their autonomy and projecting them as docile and
incompetent creatures who cannot enter into a contract without being exploited. Arneson rebuts this
assertion by asking the question why is it permissible for a woman to act as a surrogate for a friend or
family member (Altruistic Surrogacy) but as soon as money is entered into the equation (Commercial
Surrogacy), it becomes morally unacceptable. Arneson s point that the exchange of money for the
service of surrogacy does not make the practice intrinsically harmful, ... Show more content on

Pande tries to shed more light on the economic and psychological empowerment and opportunity
surrogacy has given women. Surrogates are introduced to medical services that are normally not
accessible to them. Over the course of her research, Pande shifted her position and stated that the
practice of surrogacy needs to be prohibited, and came to view surrogacy as ethical work that needs
regulation in order not to exploit the women and babies. She believes surrogate mothers must be given
the right to organize in labor unions and negotiate with the intended parents.
Pande thinks the long range solution is to relax surrogacy regulation in other countries so that people
don t need to leave their home countries to find surrogate mothers. She proposed an international
model of surrogacy founded on openness and transparency on three fronts: in the structure of
payments, in the medical process, and in the relationships forged within surrogacy.
CONCLUSION:
Opinion will continue to be divided on whether commercial surrogacy arrangements devalue children
and women in intangible ways. But what has become clear is that well designed regulation can greatly
mitigate most of the potential tangible harms of surrogacy, and this would seem to be the appropriate
function of law in a liberal society in response to an issue on which no societal consensus

The Stages Of Acute Cutaneous Wound Healing
The stages of acute cutaneous wound healing and why some processes may be altered in diabetic
patients
The process by which tissue repair takes place is termed wound healing and is comprised of a
continuous sequence of inflammation and repair, in which epithelial, endothelial, inflammatory cells,
platelets and fibroblasts briefly come together outside their normal domains, interact to restore a
semblance of their usual discipline and having done so resume their normal function . ( The Cellular
Biology of Wound Healing 2016)
Wound healing has 3 distinct stages, an inflammatory response, a proliferation phase and a maturation
phase, however wound healing is not a linear process and a patient can move back and forth
throughout the stages.
After the occurrence of a wound the inflammatory process immediately begins and can last up to 3
days ( Wound Healing 2016), the initial injury causes the small vessels around the wound site to be
disturbed resulting in bleeding, the body s first response is a haemodynamic one in that it restricts
these vessels in order to prevent blood loss. There then comes a rapid release of preformed
inflammatory mediators from the cells surrounding the injury, the first thing this causes is the
aggregation of platelets, these platelets adhere to extracellular surface structures which are exposed,
such as collagen and basement membranes, this in turn causes serotonin from platelet stores to be
stimulated. (Kirk, Phillips and Murray 2001)

Gabriel Iglesias also known as Fluffy was born on July 15,...
Gabriel Iglesias also known as Fluffy was born on July 15, 1976. He was born and raised in San
Diego, California. His last name is really spelled Iglecias with a C because his father had missed his
birth and his mother wanted to teach him a lesson, so changed the S to C, but he still uses his last
name with an S. He began performing stand up comedy at the age of twenty one in 1997. He was
always known as the Big Guy. Gabriel Iglesias actually gave himself the nick name and goes by
Fluffy.
Before becoming a comedian, he worked for a cell phone company and also appeared on a show
called, All that. His trademark is wearing Hawaiian shirts and he lives in Whittier with his girlfriend
and step son Frankie. His mother had taken him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For an example, when he started talking about his girlfriend, his voice would get high pitched and
sounds like a girl. He also mimicked his girlfriend s son voice, which now legally is his step son, and
he made the voices of his and her friends, (Martin and the hookers.) Another Standup act he did he
mentioned he did not like his girlfriend s friends. He stated they were hookers. A lot of the jokes he
used was about his weight, girlfriend and son, and personal experiences. One of the jokes he talks
about is there used to be five categories of Fatness. He had explained there are now six categories.
There is big, healthy, husky, fluffy, damn, and oh, hell no. I asked my husband what category I fell
into and I was thinking, oh, maybe I m fluffy or something. His response and with a bland look on his
face was, No! It s more like oh, Hell No!! He was being dead serious too! There was one part where
he almost tripped and instead of panicking, he made a joke about it. It was funny. He was quick to
come up with something. It was about his weight. Another joke Iglesias uses was his son does not like
to use deodorant, so when his son turned fifteen, he started putting deodorant all over the house, so his
son would not forget to put it on. He had asked his son, Did you put on deodorant? And his son said,
Yes. But, Gabriel knew he had lied and he told his son he would let it slide, but next time, and that is
when his son had bulked up to him and

The Photography Of The Freer Gallery
The Freer Dagger, called such because it currently resides in the collection of the Freer Gallery, is an
example of the finely crafted arms and armory created in the Islamic world throughout history. (Fig 1)
However, despite it taking the form of a weapon, the construction, materials, and decoration of this
dagger suggests that it was most likely not used for combat purposes, but instead served primarily as a
symbolic accessory, or a form of protective amulet. The blade is made of curved watered steel that has
been ribbed.(Fig 2)With it s complex pattern of dark and light lines , the pattern of the steel indicates
that the blade was worked a great deal as it was forged, and then etched in order to reveal the watered
pattern.1 This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first and second cartouches on each side consist of persian inscriptions against a vegetal ground,
while the center contains Koranic inscriptions in Arabic on a plain background. The sheath has a
similar decorative layout to the handle. At the opening for the blade, there is an oval cartouche, with
inscriptions. Along the length of the sheath are six more cartouches, linked together, alternating
between being filled with scrolls and inscriptions. The remaining areas are filled with gold inlaid
vegetal and floral scrolls, as well as with stylized depictions of deer and birds. The center cartouche is
now empty, having been scraped, and probably once contained the name of the patron or owner, or
similar identifying information.4 The remaining cartouches contain Persian inscriptions. The
decorative scheme of the dagger and sheath is overall very symmetrical and balanced, resulting in a
very stable and harmonious composition, despite the wide range of decorative techniques that have
been applied to it. The dagger and sheath together contain a Persian poem, read first from the handle
(front, then back), then around the sheath from the opening to the tip. The complete inscription reads:
In the time of the reign of the Zand emperor The just king, ruler, heir to Dara, Khan of the world,
favorite of Ali, Master of the time, lord of

  • 4. Thoughts Of The Asian Crisis Term Paper Thoughts of the Asian Crisis (1997 1998) In the period between 1997 to 1998, a great economic storm blew the some fast developing countries, especially Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. They had great economic development before the crisis, but left almost everything at the end of the storm. The most obvious impact of the crisis is the capital outflows and currency devaluation. So, people in those developing countries began to find who should be responding to the crisis. International speculators were appropriate targets to be blamed due to their actives during the crisis. The President of Indonesia, Suharto, even claimed There are [parties] trying to engineer the fall of the rupiah to the 20,000 level [against the dollar]. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only blaming speculators for the past experience is not appropriate: the East Asian economic structure, fiscal policy of responding the crisis and political structure possibly played more significant roles on aggrandizing this crisis. Admittedly, the active speculators capital operation is the catalyze of the crisis: before the crisis, those 3 Asian countries are quite similar: All of them just endure a great economic progress for the recession of Japan in the early 1990s. The rate of export was gradually carrying a higher weight; the real GDP had more than 8 percentage annual growths constantly. (DeRosa 85) Also, they had a quick credit expansion for wooing the global capital for investment. As for the section of currency exchange, Thailand and Indonesia held the peg to the U.S dollar. Malaysia is little bit different: it did hold float exchange rate but that is essentially a sort of dirty float which means the government will influence the direction of exchange rate frequently to keep the exchange rate in a certain range. In anyway, those three countries tried to use relatively sturdy currency policy and quickly increasing economic environment to attract international capital. Admittedly, this function fairly functioning before the crisis, but there are some potential problems are still unsolved which made their economy not as sturdy as those countries thought ... • 6. Analysis of Sidgwick s Third Axiom Essay This paper will object to Sidgwick s axiom that from the point of view of the universe, the good of one is no more important than the good of another on the ground that it is analytic. I present the purpose and content of the axiom with a further explanation of what I take the point of view of the universe to mean. I then consider the response of the Egoist to the axiom and Sidgwick s counter response to illustrate the tautology of the argument. The tautology of the argument brings it in line with other axioms that Sidgwick rejects as insignificant. Thus, I argue that the third axiom fails to meet Sidgwick s own standards, making its utility and significance questionable. In response to this, I consider that the axiom may be analytic but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, the axiom holds that we must regard the good of others as equal to our own good unless, when viewed from an impartial position, it is less due to special circumstances . For example, Sidgwick states that it would be wrong for a man to pursue his own good on any occasion if it would result in another individual having to sacrifice a greater amount of their good. The problem with the axiom lies in the use of the phrase from the point of view of the universe . The phrase must be included because without it an Egoist could easily reject the axiom, which would be unacceptable for Sidgwick. However, the inclusion of this phrase could lead one to object to the axiom on the basis that it is analytic. As it stands, the Egoist can escape the axiom so long as he holds his happiness as his ultimate end. He can simply say he is not interested in taking up that point of view and thus it does not apply. Sidgwick acknowledges this to be true, so long as the Egoist does not believe that his happiness or pleasure is Good, not only for him but from the point of view of the Universe... as by saying that nature designed him to seek his own happiness. If the Egoist believes something like this, Sidgwick thinks it becomes relevant to tell him that, when taken universally, his good is no more important than that of any other person. The Literary Works That I Will Be Featuring The two literary works that I will be featuring are a short story and novel; both set centuries apart yet, connect with one another in linguistic principles. Both horror writers and with this genre, semantics can be quite fascinating. Both King and Poe, focus on the various levels of semantics horror and psychological. The semantic perspective of Christine are that of modern day slang, teenage symbolism. With semantic idioms and jokes, you would see the humor behind the man with the scary mask. Christine s characters are teenagers, besides the a little parental irresponsibility, with these hormonal teens, plus Christine. Arnie and Dennis, were full of idioms, such as, I just had this call to nature, or I gotta take a whiz! (King) Some commonly used idioms were most directly, ones of love and anger. The bully, Repperton was as rough and ignorant as they come and he spoke like it. Keep your jock on, man or as Dennis put it, Eat me raw through a Flavor Straw! (King) These guys were the kings of semantic idioms. The semantic perspective is about understanding meaning in words and their sentence structure. • 9. My Mother s Family s Story Preface My mother had mentioned to me that her family s story is longer than a book, however, it is so hard for me to ask the details of what had happened to her because all the stories in her life strike a chord in her heart. For example, almost all of my father s friends in Hong Kong were the people who escaped from communist China. Their stories were soul stirring. Many of them left their families in China. Their vicissitudes of life contained joy, sorrows, partings and reunions. My father was considered very lucky because he survived. Many of them capsized in the rough sea; some of them simply spent all of their energy and died on the way to their dream; some of them were caught by the militias or the soldiers; some of them were extradited back to China by the British government. Their families left in China suffered numerous humiliations. However, more than thirty years having passed, their stories were dim without a voice in history. Either their stories were too bitter to bring up, or they did not want to be named as a traitor to their country. During Mao s era, and even for a while after, anyone who escaped to Hong Kong was considered a traitor and turned over to the enemy. Escaping to Hong Kong was a very sensitive topic. Therefore, we would hear these stories all the time, but we hardly ever see anything written down about what they had been through. A crime that appears out of character can be understood only by discerning what the character of the individual truly is . Deciphering the characteristics that will identify a criminal can be very situational. Criminal actions all depend on who they decide to be in the world around them. For law breakers like Humbert Humbert, appeasing his pedohilia s urges becomes his main goal once setting his eyes on his landlord s daughter, Dolores. Humbert points out that he feels nothing preventing him from touching and groping Lolita. Despite knowing that his actions are immoral, Humbert continues them, confident enough to not fear the consequences that could happen. This criminal thinking error Humbert shows grants him the ability to push the boundary when advancing sexually on Lolita. • 12. Robespierre And The Sans Culottes Declared Essay The month of September would be remembered as one of the bloodiest months in French history, in particular, September 5, 1793. On this day, Robespierre and the Sans Culottes declared terror is the order of the day. These words would begin a period of violence where the enemies of the Revolution were executed en masse. Between 1793 and 1794, thousands of French citizens were imprisoned and hundreds were killed by a group called the Committee of Public Safety. They claimed they were acting in the best interest of the people, but were, in fact, acting in the interest of wiping out their political adversaries. The head of this committee was political leader Maximilien Robespierre. He was referred to as the incorruptible by his peers because of his unwavering commitment to the Revolution. By the end of this period however, he would fall victim to his own committee. This would be the end of The Terror. The Terror cannot be isolated as a great event of the French Revolution without first examining the events that lead to it. The flight of King Louis XVI and his family, the eventual execution of the king and Marie Antoinette, the purge of the Girodins as a political group, and the assassination of radical journalist, Jean Paul Marat, are a few of the significant events that lead to terror being called the order of the day. • 13. Similarities And Differences Of The Egyptian, Zhou... Midterm I INTRODUCTION In historic times, multiple Societies of people living and collaborating together in a community is what led to the formation of many Empires. Empires were comprised of similar groups of people that were most often geographically located within close proximities. It is interesting to compare and contrast three societies which became Empires: the Egyptian, Zhou Chinese, and Persian. Each Empire is responsible for contributing to a foundational advancement that has been used in future generations. I will compare the similarities and contrasts of each and explain why I believe the Persian Empire was the most successful Empire. I will start by addressing the primary similarities, which are that each Empire was responsible for innovating and creating things in the following areas of: mathematics, architecture, and philosophy. In contrast, the differences that existed were due to each Empire creating advancements and developments as a need from their respective demography, which means their environment and surroundings dictated the areas they excelled and innovated the most in. After researching these, I deemed the most successful Empire to be the one in which created the most widely used things throughout the entire world, and that are still in use today. Also, I determined the most important determining factor of an Empire being successful was if it had an acceptable democratic and equal societal philosophy. Thus, I found all these successful ... It becomes imperative to understand the legal institutional structure of the Indian government to better understand the decision making capabilities in regards to forests in India. There are so many legalities and so many laws that are in place that it is a complex affair to understand how law operates. With so many laws passed at different point of time and space it is tough to really enforce these laws with them contradicting each other. Functional properties of native and modified proteins: PH solubility profile: The pH solubility curves of native and esterified cowpea protein are shown in Fig.1. The solubility profile of native cowpea indicate that protein solubility reduced as the pH increased from 2 to 4, which corresponding to its isoelectric point, after which subsequent increases in pH increased protein solubility progressively. Esterification increased protein solubility in the acidic pH range from 2 to 5. Increasing pH more than 5 reduced the solubility and giving a minimum value (9 %) at pH 6. Methylated cowpea protein was more soluble in the acidic range of pH and less soluble in the alkaline range of pH as compared to unmodified protein. The sport we call soccer was originally called association football but started recently in the 20th century. The new term was not popular at first it was doubted because it was spelled Socker In support of this theory, Szymanski cites a 1905 letter to the editor of The New York Times from Francis Tabor of New York, who warned of the spreading heresy of the word socker so he suggested soccer a little fad that the Oxford and Cambridge students starting putting er at the end of many words, such as foot er, sport er, and as Association did not take an er easily, it was, and is, sometimes spoken of as Soccer.America chose to change and the world did not. Politics is understood to be something as bad, cunning, and misuse of power. Although, politics and rhetoric have some deeper similarities but when we look at them closely, we find that both appear in different lime light altogether when they are used for a good purpose combined with pious motive. No matter how hard we try, we cannot escape politics and rhetoric as they form the very basis of our daily routine life. Aristotle in one of his work the Art of Rhetoric explains that not everyone is capable of following the formal logic and therefore it is necessary to make use of rhetoric when attempting to persuade people through the concepts that were available to everyone . Rhetoric likewise becomes a concept digesting aid for a layman. Aristotle emphasized in the need of the rhetoric. He believed that contradiction was necessary not only because one could make people aware of evil motives but also so that unjust arguments could be rejected. Rhetoric in this way is the main machine of which dialectics is the gear which is required to produce truth. It is through dialectics that two individuals discuss a concept to reach the conclusion about its aptness and validity. For instance, upon seeing a rocket take off, two individuals argue, A says the rocket is flying up and B argues that the earth is being pushed down. This argument requires dialectics and it is through the use of rhetoric one may come to a conclusion but it is not necessary that it may be true. To clarify, if B is a good orator but his argument is wrong then for the sake of winning the argument he may win it but in reality he will be wrong. This example is of putting a bad case persuasively. • 26. Analysis Of Aaron Sapiro And Henry Ford Aaron Sapiro and Henry Ford confrontation on hate speech is iconic in nature. In Sapiro v. Ford, Sapiro sues Ford for framing Sapiro in a Jewish conspiracy. This confrontation shows that aspects of hate speech is disregarded. At the end of the case, Ford issues an apology, which is written by his lawyer, Louis Marshall. (Woeste 1). This apology fails to mention that Ford never wrote it to begin with, which is why Ford later writes a book about his court case with Sapiro (Woeste 1). Antisemitic attitudes were present during this time, but they were muted unlike the more violent expressions of Jew hatred that was seen in Europe (Woeste 3). Due to these muted attitudes, Ford was never prosecuted for being antisemitic, until Sapiro sued him. Another factor is the fact that Ford was praised in America, which in turn, helped him during his lawsuit in a societal method. Since Ford was praised, Ford s attitudes and feelings were prevalent in society and were praised. Due to these factors, the end results Sapiro had hoped for was a near failure. In Gladwell s David and Goliath, certain aspects of this iconic story is disregarded, which is why Gladwell states we have interpreted this story wrong. One of the issues Gladwell brings up is that Goliath was ready for close to close combat, but was caught off guard by David s approach in combat. • 36. The Growing Importance Of Ethical Business Managers The Growing Importance of Ethical Business Managers Julia Shaw Hillary Shaw (2010) describe that the need for ethical business managers and practices has never been greater. Recent financial scandals have exposed issues in the management decision making process, suggesting a need to develop the necessary analytical and empathetic qualities so future corporate leaders may be moral managers (Julia Shaw Hillary Shaw, 2010). This recent pattern of business misconduct (Michaelson, 2015) and single minded pursuit of profit has made the promotion of ethical values a key concern for modern business organizations (Julia Shaw Hillary Shaw, 2010). This paper will discuss how literary fiction (i.e. novels, literature, narrative, fiction, drama, comics) can help organizations develop ethical managers by discussing (1) the growing importance of ethical business managers (2) the benefits of a novel approach to business ethics, and (3) the moral value of literary fiction to business. During the past few years, many companies have seen their reputations plummet in the wake of various corporate scandals (Julia Shaw Hillary Shaw, 2010). With this context of an amoral and inept set of global management practices, Julia Shaw Hillary Shaw (2010) propose the need for a new breed of manager, namely the moral manager. Most people have never heard of Touch of Glass let alone that they sung this cover. The most major difference I have found between all 3 songs is the mood that artist gives off. With Simon and Garfunkel giving off more of a upbeat and funky mood that makes the song seem to have good feelings attached to it. Then Disturbed gives off more of a dark and foreboding mood that leaves the listener feeling lonely. Then Touch of Glass in my opinion gives off a more country and western mood that shows hardship in life. Simon and Garfunkel is trying to show silence and darkness as more of a friend that you are glad to see and to show that silence is not a bad thing with their tone. Disturbed on the other hand is trying to show the sound of silence and darkness as more of a old friend you would rather not meet until the very end. Jennie and Donald Rakestraw, both professors at Georgia Southern College, argue that some parents do not have the ability or the patience to teach their children well (277). A home schooled child suffers the chance of an uneven education due to the imbalanced preparation of the parent. Along with the focus on accountability has come an increased need for measuring the achievement of home ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. A Priority Based Compromise Fuzzy Goal Programming... A Priority based Compromise Fuzzy Goal Programming Approach for Channel Allocation Problem Abstract Some companies produce and sell all of their own products through their own internal channels and some use multiple external channels to distribute goods to consumers. Many authors have presented mathematical model for channel allocation problem. Tsai et al (2008) presented a mixed integer fuzzy goal programming model for channel allocation problem considering three different fuzzy goals. In this paper we use the weighted root power mean method of aggregation for obtaining a priority based solution of channel allocation problem where preferences are defined in terms of weights. Keywords: Channel Allocation problem, Compromise fuzzy goal programming, multiobjective optimization, weighted goal programming. 1. Introduction Firms distribute their product through multiple distribution channels which include direct and indirect channels. The channel in which distribution function is grouped by a supplier and one or more of intermediaries, is known as an indirect channel. However, a direct channel distributes products from producers to the users directly without introducing any intermediaries. Many reasons can be presented for the firms to adopt multiple channel strategy because advances in information and manufacturing technology have encouraged multiple channels. However, multiple channels for distribution of the products in the market arise many challenges and one of them is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Discussion Research On Parent Involvement Essay Prior Research on Parent Involvement in Education Before turning to our qualitative study of parent involvement in urban char ter schools, the following sections outline the prior research on the benefits of parent involvement, the barriers to involvement that exist, and the potential of the charter school context to reduce these barriers. Benefits of Parent Involvement Decades of research point to the numerous benefits of parent involvement in education for not only students but also for the parents involved, the school, and the wider community (Barnard, 2004; Epstein, 2001; Fan Chen, 2001; Henderson Mapp, 2002; Jeynes, 2003, 2007; Lee Bowen, 2006). De spite the challenges in establishing a causal link between parent involvement and student achievement, studies utilizing large databases have shown positive and significant effects of parent involvement on both academic and behavioral outcomes (Fan Chen, 2001; Jeynes, 2003, 2007). For example, research has found that parent involvement is related to a host of student achievement indi cators, including better grades, attendance, attitudes, expectations, homework completion, and state test results (Astone McLanahan, 1991; Cancio, West, Young, 2004; Dearing, McCartney, Weiss, Kreider, Simpkins, 2004; Gut man Midgley, 2000; Izzo, Weissberg, Kasprow, Fendrich, 1999; Senechal LeFevre, 2002; Sheldon, 2003). • 41. In The Butterflies Banned In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez is a historical fiction novel about the tragedy of the late Mirabal sisters. Though the book is acclaimed by parents, students, and teachers for it s fictional adaptation to the historical moments of that time, sadly it was challenged due to its diagram of how to build a time bomb. A school called, Paul D. Schreiber High, had this novel on the list of books to be read in sophomore English class in 2000, the book was voted to be banned because of its easy descriptions of malice. Port Washington is home to that local high school, and has a goal of furthering students intelligence through literature and ensuring the safety of their students and families. This book is an opportunity to enrich the ... • 42. Navigation and Pose Estimation Theory Basic Theory In the previous chapter, we introduce about the indoor positioning system techniques and the research directions. In this chapter we will describe the basic theory related with the navigation and pose estimation systems for example, the coordinate system, the dead reckoning method, the characteristic of Wi Fi radio signal propagation etc. For all of the basic ideas are very important thing to understanding the configuration of our research as follow; 2.1 The Local Coordinate system The coordinate system was used to defined in local area environment name is the Cartesian coordinate system refer to [55]. It can be referenced by placing the origin to the local point consist with 3 reference axis, there are axis is directed to the vertical, axis is pointed to the north and axis is directed to the east, see in figure 1. Figure 1 The Cartesian coordinate system. The plane is the horizontal plane and the vertical plane is defined perpendicular to the ellipsoid such a coordinate system is also called a local horizontal coordinate system. From figure 1. can be described, the projection point whose coordinates in global and local coordinate system are and respectively, one has relation of as follow: (2.1) Where the is the azimuth angle measure from the north clockwise, is the zenith distance that mean the angle the vertical and the radian and r is the radian of the in the local system. 2.1.1 Transformation Matrix in Cartesian coordinate ... • 43. Arneson s Argument Of Degradation Of The Surrogate Anderson s second argument is that of degradation of the surrogate. This thinking may be true in some cases, but not all. Anderson makes the comparison of surrogates to a hatchery. Again, Anderson herself degrades surrogates by removing their autonomy and projecting them as docile and incompetent creatures who cannot enter into a contract without being exploited. Arneson rebuts this assertion by asking the question why is it permissible for a woman to act as a surrogate for a friend or family member (Altruistic Surrogacy) but as soon as money is entered into the equation (Commercial Surrogacy), it becomes morally unacceptable. Arneson s point that the exchange of money for the service of surrogacy does not make the practice intrinsically harmful, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pande tries to shed more light on the economic and psychological empowerment and opportunity surrogacy has given women. Surrogates are introduced to medical services that are normally not accessible to them. Over the course of her research, Pande shifted her position and stated that the practice of surrogacy needs to be prohibited, and came to view surrogacy as ethical work that needs regulation in order not to exploit the women and babies. She believes surrogate mothers must be given the right to organize in labor unions and negotiate with the intended parents. Pande thinks the long range solution is to relax surrogacy regulation in other countries so that people don t need to leave their home countries to find surrogate mothers. She proposed an international model of surrogacy founded on openness and transparency on three fronts: in the structure of payments, in the medical process, and in the relationships forged within surrogacy. CONCLUSION: Opinion will continue to be divided on whether commercial surrogacy arrangements devalue children and women in intangible ways. But what has become clear is that well designed regulation can greatly mitigate most of the potential tangible harms of surrogacy, and this would seem to be the appropriate function of law in a liberal society in response to an issue on which no societal consensus ... • 44. The Stages Of Acute Cutaneous Wound Healing The stages of acute cutaneous wound healing and why some processes may be altered in diabetic patients The process by which tissue repair takes place is termed wound healing and is comprised of a continuous sequence of inflammation and repair, in which epithelial, endothelial, inflammatory cells, platelets and fibroblasts briefly come together outside their normal domains, interact to restore a semblance of their usual discipline and having done so resume their normal function . ( The Cellular Biology of Wound Healing 2016) Wound healing has 3 distinct stages, an inflammatory response, a proliferation phase and a maturation phase, however wound healing is not a linear process and a patient can move back and forth throughout the stages. After the occurrence of a wound the inflammatory process immediately begins and can last up to 3 days ( Wound Healing 2016), the initial injury causes the small vessels around the wound site to be disturbed resulting in bleeding, the body s first response is a haemodynamic one in that it restricts these vessels in order to prevent blood loss. There then comes a rapid release of preformed inflammatory mediators from the cells surrounding the injury, the first thing this causes is the aggregation of platelets, these platelets adhere to extracellular surface structures which are exposed, such as collagen and basement membranes, this in turn causes serotonin from platelet stores to be stimulated. Another Standup act he did he mentioned he did not like his girlfriend s friends. He stated they were hookers. A lot of the jokes he used was about his weight, girlfriend and son, and personal experiences. One of the jokes he talks about is there used to be five categories of Fatness. He had explained there are now six categories. There is big, healthy, husky, fluffy, damn, and oh, hell no. I asked my husband what category I fell into and I was thinking, oh, maybe I m fluffy or something. His response and with a bland look on his face was, No! It s more like oh, Hell No!! He was being dead serious too! There was one part where he almost tripped and instead of panicking, he made a joke about it. It was funny. He was quick to come up with something. It was about his weight. Another joke Iglesias uses was his son does not like to use deodorant, so when his son turned fifteen, he started putting deodorant all over the house, so his son would not forget to put it on. The Photography Of The Freer Gallery The Freer Dagger, called such because it currently resides in the collection of the Freer Gallery, is an example of the finely crafted arms and armory created in the Islamic world throughout history. (Fig 1) However, despite it taking the form of a weapon, the construction, materials, and decoration of this dagger suggests that it was most likely not used for combat purposes, but instead served primarily as a symbolic accessory, or a form of protective amulet. The blade is made of curved watered steel that has been ribbed.(Fig 2)With it s complex pattern of dark and light lines , the pattern of the steel indicates that the blade was worked a great deal as it was forged, and then etched in order to reveal the watered pattern.1 This ... The first and second cartouches on each side consist of persian inscriptions against a vegetal ground, while the center contains Koranic inscriptions in Arabic on a plain background. The sheath has a similar decorative layout to the handle. At the opening for the blade, there is an oval cartouche, with inscriptions. Along the length of the sheath are six more cartouches, linked together, alternating between being filled with scrolls and inscriptions. The remaining areas are filled with gold inlaid vegetal and floral scrolls, as well as with stylized depictions of deer and birds. The center cartouche is now empty, having been scraped, and probably once contained the name of the patron or owner, or similar identifying information.4 The remaining cartouches contain Persian inscriptions. The decorative scheme of the dagger and sheath is overall very symmetrical and balanced, resulting in a very stable and harmonious composition, despite the wide range of decorative techniques that have been applied to it. The dagger and sheath together contain a Persian poem, read first from the handle (front, then back), then around the sheath from the opening to the tip. The complete inscription reads: In the time of the reign of the Zand emperor The just king, ruler, heir to Dara, Khan of the world, favorite of Ali, Master of the time, lord of ...
