Trona is used for many things all over the world. Tata began making soda ash in 1968.
Every year, Tata mines 4.5 million tons of trona. Tata employs many people in
various jobs, in their plant and mines. It is one of the biggest employers in Green
River,Wyoming. The trona that they mine and process, is sent by truck ,train or
shipped all over the world. There are five plants mining and processing trona in
Green River. Productions Materials The trona is mined from underground. People
and equipment get in the mine from a hoist that takes them down 1,600 feet to the
mine. They are taken to the front of the mine where they remove the trona and send
it to the surface. They use railroad cars, trucks, and boats to send it to buyers all over
the world.
Processing:
On the surface, the plant converts trona ore to soda ash. They use a multi step
cleaning process. The trona ore is first crushed and screened to prepare for
processing. A kiln heats the crushed trona to drive off gases. This process changes
ore to sodium carbonate. It is combined with water and filtered to remove pollution.
The water is taken out, which forms a soda ash crystal slurry. Than it is put into a
machine to remove the rest of the water. Then they are sent to round dryers. The
dried product is stored in bins, until shipped by trucks or rail cars.

There are several types of technologies utilized by the Deaf Community. From
alerting technology, to cochlear implants, to the use of closed captions. With all of
these technologies available, hearing aids are the most available and accessible to
individuals in the Deaf Community.
Current hearing aids have evolved since they were first patented by Miller Reese
Hutchinson in 1895. The first electrical hearing aid, also known as the Akouphone,
was operated by a carbon transmitter. The carbon transmitters function was to amplify
sound by taking a weak signal and using an electric current to make the signal strong
enough for the user to hear the sound. Hutchinson went on to improve his original
Akouphone a couple of times. The Akoulophon in 1898 and the Acousticon in 1902.
Each had their own successes. However, the Acousticon gained him his greatest
successes and attention (Causey).
Hutchison felt compelled, as a student, to invent a hearing aid for a friend who was
deaf and mute. He was successful in improving his friend s hearing but he was not
able to interest his friend in mastering speech (Causey).

Experiment 11B consisted of synthesizing methyl orange, a synthetic dye, and
testing this dye s coloring quality and effectiveness as a pH indicator. Methyl
orange is an acid base indicator. In a pH of greater than 4.4, it becomes a yellow
solution with a negatively charged sulfonate ion. When submerged into a solution
with a pH less than 3.2, the dipolar red ion (helianthin) predominates. Methyl orange
is a type of azo dye, which is commonly found in food, fabric, paint, and other
brightly colored products. The general structure consists of the N5N functional group
sandwiched between two aromatic species. Azo dyes are brightly colored because of
their extensive conjugated system which gives rise to a strong chromophore. The
exact colordepends on both the nature of the aromatic group and the substituents.
Methyl orange is synthesized through an azo coupling reaction between a diazonium
ion and N,N dimethylaniline. An electrophilic aromatic substitution causes the
positively charged diazonium ion to act as the electrophilic species. In the first step
of azo coupling the diazonium intermediate is synthesized. This process is called

Isaac Newton was an instrumental figure to the rise of modern science. Through
his incredible mind, he was able to usher in a new age of science that revolved
around logic and reason. He had redefined natural philosophy at the time and had

The realist period was a time of the nineteenth century in which authors, artists and
other people in literature provided in depth accounts of events that occurred during
that time period. In Gustave Flaubert s A Simple Heart, he explored the lives of two
fictional women of different classes (middle and lower) during the realist period.
Through characters like Madame Aubain, a rich woman and Felicite, her poor, gentle
maid, he provided the reader with a sneak peek of nineteenth century France.
The first sentence of A Simple Heart gives the reader an ironic insight of the
protagonist Felicite. It states Madame Aubain s servant Felicite was the envy of
the ladies of Pont l Г‰vГ«que for half a century (2208, A Simple Heart).By giving
a brief synopsis of the protagonist, it makes the reader wonder why was she the
envy of the other women around her. She was serving another woman. What was
there to envy? Flaubert must have done this on purpose to get the reader to put a
price on happiness. Even the words used to describe the other women ladies would
bring a great deal of doubt to the reader.
Flaubert introduced the seemingly simpler character, Felicite first, with a rather
vivid and detailed description. He portrayed her as a woman that was different
from the others. Being a maid, Felicite was not expected to be complex and
Flaubert did her much justice. He described She rose at daybreak to be in time for
Mass, and worked till evening without stopping. Then, when dinner was over, the
plates and dishes were in order, and the door shut fast, she thrust the

Why I Deserve This Scholarship
I deserve this scholarship because I try and make an effort everyday at school. I
will admit that I took my first semester of ninth grade in high school for a joke. I
was excited to be moving up to the bigger school. So, my grades went up and
down. I started off in the Honors program but ended up being kicked out because of
my math class. That was the hardest class I had. It was literally easy. However, I had
just transferred from Northridge High Schoolin Tuscaloosa, AL. The same math was
being taken, but we were doing at Northridge was what Bibb County High School
would be taking last. Our lessons plans were opposites. So, when I got there I

Find the mass of each cube.
Fill the 4 cups with 8oz of water each.
Mix 100 Milliliters of Salient Solution into one cup of water, 100 Milliliters of
Glucose Solution in another, and put 50 Milliliters of Salient Solution and 50
Milliliters of Glucose Solution in another and mix it.
Put a cube in each cup and take out after five minutes.
Calculate the new mass of each cube.
Put back in.
Repeat step 5 7 three more times so that the cubes were submerged for 20 minutes in
total.
Record all findings.

All of the potatoes remained very much the same. The potato cubes darkened a bit
along with growing a bit but beside that the potato cubes remained very much the
same. However this partially is because of the fact that the solutions were diluted in

the water. And as research shows when the potato cubes are dipped into water they
maintain a similar look.

Personal Lessons Learned
From an early age I was taught the importance of personal integrity and the
importance of being adaptable and prepared for any stressful situation that life
may throw at you. During my time as a boy scout I was constantly taught to be
prepared and to also to always be at the service of others. At the end of our camping
trips we would be told repeatedly to leave this place, better than when you found it
and this lesson has translated into my own life. I want to make the worlda better
(safer) place than when I found it. As I grew up, these lessons continued to play a
key role in the decisions I made and have made me into the man that I ve become
today.
While in middle school and into high school I had the opportunity to be exposed to
many cultures that were different than my own. I volunteered weekly through my
church in a predominately Hispanic community that was located in the Port of
Houston. The neighborhood was extremely impoverished and many of the students
were involved in gangs, or had one or more parents that were incarcerated. The more
I worked with these young men and women, the more I learned about myself and

Essentially, deep focus is where the viewer can see the foreground through the
background in clear sight. For instance, this technique is utilized in Kane s
childhood scene. This scene, which shows Kane s parents and Thatcher in the

In today s complex business environment managers and employees face many
obstacles relating to working in groups on assigned projects in order to complete
those projects that ultimately contribute to the bottom line, or enables the company

Jamaica, the third largest Caribbean island is not only home to tropical weather and
picturesque landscapes, but also to social unrest and perhaps some of the most
rebellious people. Since its existence, this nation has seen a series of revolutions and
riots in efforts to reverse the unjust social, economic, and political conditions. The
most influential of these revolutionary efforts contributed to the formation of Jamaica
s very own religious movement, Rastafarianism. With oppression serving as one of
the driving forces for the Rastafari Movement, it is understandable why its followers
are so adamant about professing their ideologies, beliefs and practices. The central
language used to express the grievances of Rastafarians is known globally as the
music genre, Reggae. It is not merely coincidental that the country pregnant with
such radical motives also gave birth to its own music brand. By examining the music

and by the parents. Little Rock nine were nine students that were involved in the
desegregation of a school, but the Whites did not like this so they tried to scare
them so the schools would not be integrated. Segregation in schools did not just
affect African American childrens education it also affected their childhood. As hard
as it was for adults to be segregated, it was even harder for the children to deal with

truly understand its rise and fall, first one must understand what vaudeville is.
Vaudeville was a theatrical genre of entertainment that was popular in the United
States from the early 1880s until the mid 1930s. Each performance consisted of a
series of unrelated acts grouped together on a common bill. Types of acts included
classical musicians, dancers, comedians, trained animals, magicians, impersonators,
acrobats, illustrated songs, jugglers, scenes from plays, athletes, lecturing celebrities,
and movies.

Although vaudeville seemed to be a long standing staple in our society, like all
good things, it must come to an end. the decline and death of vaudeville appears
certain, clear and inevitable. From the performers point of view, there was no
perspective other than the here and now of their lives. Each day seemed to differ
little from the previous, and speculation about the future was, as ever, informed by
hear say and past experience. As an array of specialty acts, vaudeville was an
enterprise without name that, over many years, could be found in the
marketplaces of Asia and Europe. It eventually spread around the world to the
farthest corners of Australia and Africa. Performers worked when and where they
could, quite often in undesired locations. A certain clichГ© attached to performing
in bed and breakfast s, saloons and public houses after their owners added stages
and audience pits set apart from the tavern. It soon became quite taxing for
performers to not only live the same shows everyday, but to move on and find
