If you have ever been to a restaurant where they have a front cashier, like McDonalds or Wendy s, it is
the job of that front cashier to serve the customers as they enter into the building. If you are new and
just walk in from the streets, you will not be able to stand behind the counter and serve without
knowing the policy or the expectations from that company. For example, when going to Chick Fila,
for a while they were the only restaurant that will end their services with the statement, it was a
pleasure serving you or it was my pleasure . After leaving, I felt that I was not a burden to them or that
they enjoyed their job. So every time I go, I automatically expect to hear that phrase at the end. Now,
what if someone new walked in not knowing that was something they tell their customers. They could
change the entire atmosphere on how they serve and it would be noticed. Training, workshops,
meetings allow employees to stay up to date with the owner s policy. It allows them to remain in the
vision of the company. The same with you as a minister or preacher, you have to maintain your
relationship with God through prayer, fasting, studying and more in order to remain confident that you
are exactly where God wants you to be. Not only that, but to evaluate if you are becoming more of a
people pleaser or are you still a God pleaser . Don t feel bad if that is the case, because we have all
slipped into that direction unconsciously, not

The Seafarer Rhetorical Analysis
The Wanderer and The Seafarer are both elegies that reflect Christian attitudes in their own respective
views. Meaning it seems that they offer two different levels off the messages being sent and how it is
perceived. This essay will explain the Attitudes the Christian influence shows in each elegy. The
Seafarer has a more explicitly Christian message in terms of the directness of the message. It talks
about a man s journey and his walk through life. How he realizes that the life he is currently leading
will eventually have an end. He goes on to let the reader know his accounts and how the knowledge
attained allows him to put his faith in God. So rather than dwell on the flesh and what is in this current
life time he focuses on his everlasting

Gift Giving In Beowulf
Seamus Heaney s Beowulf is a translated literary work from the Anglo Saxon era which puts emphasis
on countless themes, such as, being a warrior, religion and wealth. Over the course of the poem, the
speaker puts emphasis on material possessions, which is shown through the act of gift giving. Some
argue that the importance put gift giving and wealth in Beowulf, is to present a generous attitude
however, it is evident that the purpose of this act is purely selfish. Parts of the poem like, Hrothgar
giving Beowulf gold and treasures after his conquests, Grendel not wanting to pay a wergild, and
Hrothgar paying money to the Wulfings for Beowulf s father are all examples of this.
For insistence, the way in which Hrothgar gives Beowulf all those treasures appear to be out of respect
and honor, however, this could be a manner to gain and retain his support. The King presents Beowulf
with numerous treasures that vary between gold and horses, armor and swords, and he even presents a
reward to the other men who fought with him. The following quotation explains Beowulf s thought on
the matter. So Beowulf drank his drink at ease; / it was hardly a shame to be showered with such gifts
/ in front of the hall troops. (Heaney 1024 1026) Beowulf gladly accepts the gifts that are being thrust
upon him, without putting much thought into it and thinking only about his reputation. This is shown
through the speaker s word choice and the carefree tone of the lines. Regardless of that, it is
