Advantages And Dilemmas Of Cooperative Business
Most managers and entrepreneurs of co operative businesses face similar management issues. Yet the
basis for their success rests with the choices they make. Any type of business will be concerned with
the question of productivity: what productive role fits the business the best and where will this put the
co operative in the economic marketplace. Then it comes to a certain style in which the co operative
business differentiates from the rest. It is the style of the co operative business that drives the
performance. There are several dilemmas that a co operative business may face when dealing with the
areas of productivity and style.
1. The first dilemma: Innovate or Conserve
There is an importance to innovate and a manager of a co operative business should aim to get the
maximum out of the current business. If no investment is implemented, there comes a moment where
current business declines with a new innovation. If too much investment occurs, then it may
jeopardize the continuity of the current business.
2. The second dilemma: Sole Production or Leverage on Third Parties
What is the context of the co operative business? Does the manager of the co operative face their own
production or leverage on third parties? Both require different competencies.
3. The third dilemma: Support or Lead
Does the manager of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main problems are due to credit and finance. Conventional businesses have similar problems as
capital as vital when starting a business. Co operatives require funding especially if it a non profit
organization. A co operative that has financial problems makes it less attractive to people with money
to invest. As a result, co operatives are more likely to have problems raising adequate capital and are
more dependent than conventional businesses on debt then on share capital. This increases the
riskiness of co operative businesses due to the cost of servicing the debt and the requirement to repay

Ultra High Temperature Ceramics (UHTC) Essay
Ultra high temperature ceramics (UHTCs) are materials rarely found in nature, characterized by high
melting points, hardness, thermal conductivities (if compared to other ceramics), good wear resistance
and mechanical strength.1,2,3 Besides, they are chemically and thermally stable under a variety of
conditions due to their high negative free energy of formation.1,3
The materials that fit in these criteria are ceramics compounds made of borides, nitrides and carbides.
As a result of having those properties, this class of material can be applied in extreme environments
such as extreme temperatures, chemical reactivity and erosive attack. Because of that, in the 1950 s,
studies started to analyze the possibility of using them to coat ... Show more content on

This synthesis is demonstrated by reaction 1.1 It is considerably endothermic (∆H0298K=1475.6 kJ)
and the free energy associated to it, is presented in equation 1.1 To ensure the formation of the
diboride over carbide, B2O3 is add in higher amount than stoichiometric quantity, so it will be in the
product as an impurity as well as carbides and carbon.1
ZrO2(c) + B2O3(l) +5C(g) → ZrB2(cr) + 5CO(g) reaction 1
∆G0=1431 0.803T (kJ) equation 1
From equation 1 is possible to affirm that the reaction is thermodynamically possible to occur in
temperatures higher than 1782.1°C. So, usually they perform the reaction at 2000°C.
Another route can be used to synthesized diborides, in which elemental precursor powders are used to
produce ZrB2, as shown in reaction 2.1
Zr + 2B → ZrBr2 reaction 2
This direct reaction is highly exothermic (∆H0298K= 323 kJ) and the heat produced is enough to
ignite a self propagation reaction, also known as combustion synthesis, so the reaction need an amount
of energy to start, but once started it can

Antidepressants Cause Birth Defects
The main argument being made is that some antidepressants can cause birth defects, the article
provides us with a study to help prove this. The study looked at data on more than 38,000 women who
had given birth in 1997 2009 and compared what the mother s antidepressants are and the child s
number of birth defects (Neighmond, 2015). One concept or idea that ties into child development is
epigenetics, where the environment influences or alters gene expression (Berk, 2018), which makes
me wonder if in some cases the child being exposed to an environment of a depressed mother, it may
cause some genes to alter. This also ties into the concept of passive gene environment, where parents
who are genetically related to the child set up the environment ... Show more content on

An example could be, if the mother or father is showing signs of depression, they may neglect to take
proper care for the child. Maybe because they are depressed, they may not focus all their time into the
child, rather focusing on their depression. A woman who avoids taking antidepressants during her
pregnancy to try and ensure her baby is born without defects could still have a child with some sort of
birth defect, other things can cause birth defects, such as current or prior drug use illegal or prescribed,
or in other cases that child is just genetically predisposed to it. Birth defects can happen due to genes
malfunctioning or even when there are problems with a chromosome (Berk, 2018). So, it is impossible
to say that a pregnant mother can avoid birth defects by not taking antidepressants. This idea is further
reinforced by Jennita Reefhuis in her abstract video when she cautions us that antidepressants are not
the only thing that can cause birth defects, other possibilities such as pre existing conditions in the
mother who takes antidepressants or other unknown influences may have a large impact on birth
defects as well (Reefhuis,

Apathy and Addiction in William Gibson s Neuromancer Essay
Apathy and Addiction in Neuromancer
In the postmodern world of William Gibson s Neuromancer, nature is dead, and the world is run by the
logic of the corporate machine. Confronted by a reality that is stark, barren, and metallic, and the
hopelessness that this reality engenders, the postmodern protagonist, like Case, often immerses
himself or herself in an alternate form of reality that is offered in the form of addiction (to virtual
reality or drugs, for example), addictions that are made possible by the same society that makes an
escape desirable. Such addictions are logical products of the post modern capitalist society because
they perpetuate the steadfast power of the corporation by allowing would be dissidents an ... Show

Case, as a young virtual cowboy, disdains the pleasures of the flesh, craving only the more total
escape of the matrix an escape from his bodily existence or the meat. When this escape from reality is
denied him, Case feels more fully the limitations and hopelessness of the world in which he lives and
perceives his physical reality as a trap: Case fell into the prison of his own flesh. (6) Denied the escape
of the matrix, the escape for which he lives, Case turns to drugs in an attempt to create a fast unreal
existence for himself that approximates the rush he receives from the matrix: Get just wasted enough

perilous world that is Ninsei, the lack of hope or direction in his life, and his own terror and self
loathing. Case ensconces himself in a distorted protective reality, a portable bombshelter built of
booze and ups (21). Without the escape from the flesh that the matrix had once offered him, Case
seems to be without any motivation to survive and indeed seems intent on his own self destruction.
When the matrix as an avenue of escape becomes available to Case once more, it is like a
consummation of desire, more powerful than sex: he was

The Combustion of Polymers
Introduction
The history of polymers stretch back millions of years. These primitive polymers were created by
nature to fulfill the needs of information storage, energy storage and information reproduction. Human
made polymers are a more recent invention, of the last two hundred years or so. These polymers are
general made of highly flammable hydrocarbons and their derivatives. Fires caused by a combination
of human careless and the physical properties of hydrocarbons have caused millions of dollars in
property damage and claimed an untold number of human lives. It is this fact that has lead to scientists
devoting time and resources to making polymers safer. In the following paragraphs the mechanism
behind burning polymers will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This dehydrates the polymer, forming the protective carbon layer. At higher temperatures the
phosphoric acid can help in the generation of cross linked species and can under go polymerization to
form polyphosphates. Which react with the cross linked species to form the char layer. Borated species
work the same way, they form a glassy surface that helps protect and insulate the substrate. The final
pathway that will be investigated is the suppression of radical species in the reaction space. This is
done by introducing halogenated hydrocarbons and an inorganic enhancer into the polymer. When the
polymer burns, halogen radicals are released into the gas phase. The halogen reacts with hydrogen, to
form a hydrogen halide. Finally, this species reacts with either hydrogen or oxygen radical to form
hydrogen gas or water vapor, respectfully. From this series of reactions the halogen radical is
regenerated, where it reacts with either the polymer substrate or more gaseous hydrogen to form
hydrogen halide. The halogen radicals are at a lower energy than either the hydrogen or oxygen
radical species. The effectiveness of this method is dependent on the halogen used. Bromine is the
most common due to it narrow temperature activation range. Chlorine is the next most common but
due to a broad temperature range is not as useful. Florine and

My Favorite Season Essay
Fall is my favorite season out of the other three sensational seasons in Minnesota. I love fall because it
happens to be my favorite season of the year. No, not volleyball or football season, but deer hunting. I
have had good years hunting, and I have had bad years hunting, but my favorite year was my second
year hunting.
November 8th, 2014. The first Saturday of the deer hunting season. Opening day. It was a 20 to 30
degree Fahrenheit day. Earlier this morning, my dad and I went out hunting hoping to get something,
but sadly I did not see anything sitting in the stand with my dad. Since we had a long and boring
morning, my dad and I decided to head back home and rest for the night shift of hunting. When we
returned home, I undressed from all my orange clothing and took a long nap. I woke up to eat lunch,
which was some warm homemade soup that my mother had made my dad and I to eat for lunch. After
lunch, we were ready to head out again. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Half of the day had passed by and it was time for round two of the opening day. I was so pumped for
that night that it was hard to stay still. When we reached to grandpa s house, we pulled out the four
wheeler again and drove it about a half a mile to our stand right in the middle of a swamp. The first
hour out in the stand was so boring and again. I was sitting there looking at the beautiful birch trees
and the tall prairie grass surrounding the stand. On the birch trees there were many antler scrapings,
which means the bucks were once here marking their territory. My deer stand is approximately 20 feet
off the ground, which gives a great view of the woods. I could see my grandpa s barn, which was
about a half a mile away, but I could not see his big teal house, since all the big trees were blocking
my view. Next to my stand about 40 feet away is an old and rotted deer stand someone put up in a tree

Demonic Memory-Personal Narrative
The whispers I never did anything to make it come. Never played the demonic games, never asked if
Charlie was here, never talked into the mirror, but it still came, or perhaps it was always watching me.
Sometimes I still hear the whispers in my mind, when I was a child I told my mother about the voices
but she never believed me, no one does. Now I m stuck in this special place for the insane, but I m not
insane, I just tell the truth. If they were there that night horrible night they would understand. It was a
frigid October morning as I got into the bus. I sat next to the humble girl from my Language Arts class
and pulled out my agenda that was smeared with Sharpie from when it used to say Margaret Harris,
8th grade. It was a normal school day until I looked out the window and saw a man that appeared to be
looking straight at me from a far distance, and then the whispers started. Until that day the whispers
were just chaotic, jumbles of words that I could never comprehend, but today was different. The
whispers grew loud in my head as I stared at the man and just one word repeated in my head...... until.
The rest of the day I pondered what the word could have meant that was running through my skull.

Thus, in Italy the word concerto in its earliest form, was not a term only for purely instrumental music,
but rather one for mixed groups of voices and instruments together. The concerto then evolved into
something rather different than what it was first considered. It s evolution turned into something in
which both display and virtuosity soon assumed an ever increasing dominance (Anderson 13).
Emergence of the Concerto
The concerto emerged as a distinct genre in the year 1700 (Hutchings 15). However if it was in the
early beginning or towards the end of the year, historians cannot agree on. This was the year that the
concerto spread outwards from Italy into the court and church orchestras of German speaking States.
The concerto had been the first orchestral form to be composed precisely for the most popular modern
service of serious music, the orchestral concert (Hutchings 15).
Corelli
Corelli s only set of concertos was his Opus number 6. This set contained twelve concerti grossi for
strings. That work of Corelli s was published the year after his death in 1714, in the city of Amsterdam
(Anderson 4). The formal structure of Corelli s concertos is clearly and effectively organized, giving
what the French writer Marc Pincherle described as a new harmonious coherence to the various voices
of the texture (Anderson 5). The way Corelli organized his concerti

Examples Of Implicit Personality Theory

Dunning (2007) says that implicit personality theory is the idea that if a person displays one
characteristic, they are likely to have other characteristics associated with the displayed characteristic.
Two types of implicit personality theory Dunning (2007) focused on were the halo effect; if someone
exhibits positive attributes, additional positive attributes will be attributed to them by the perceiver
and vice versa, and attractive people are ascribed more positive attributes by others, regardless of
behavior. It is a heuristic used by people to make impulsive decisions. Unfortunately, it frequently

Jean Watson Influence On The Structure Of Dna
Sixty five years ago, the structure of DNA was unknown. In contrast to other sciences such as
chemistry, which dates to around the time of the Egyptians, and physics, which came into vogue
during the 1600s, molecular biology is truly a modern phenomenon. Until 1952, many biologists
continued to believe that proteins carried genetic material. The next year, In 1953 James Watson and
Francis Crick published their findings on the structure of DNA. Their proposition states that DNA
consists of a double helix with alternating deoxyribose and phosphate molecules in the backbone.
While many may attribute the structure of DNA to other scientists, it was Watson who formulated the
model. To complete this, he synthesized data uncovered by his colleges, the most famous of which
was Rosalind Franklin. Her understudy, Raymon Gosling, captured the iconic Photo 51, an X ray
diffraction photograph of DNA. This image confirms the double helical structure of DNA. Also seen
in the image is the sugar phosphate backbone. Another influence on Watson s conclusions was the
work of Erwin Chargaff, who suggests that there are four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Watson also brought in information from Chargaff, among others, to polish his formulation.

strive to complete it. For example, after meeting Maurice Wilkins and hearing about his X ray
refraction technique, Watson believed in the possibility that he could deduce the structure of DNA,
and he pushed after his new found goal. Of equal importance is the ability to integrate data from
different sources into a coherent argument. This integration is why James Watson was the most
influential in discovering the structure of

Telecommunication Is The Real Face Of The Advances Of...
Telecommunications
Telecommunication is the real face of the advances in Information Technology (IT). In fact, the
overwhelming advances that humankind has seen in the last decades in IT (internet, telephone,
television and radio broadcasting, satellite communication) are effects of the advance of
Telecommunications (normally the word is used in plural because it encompasses different types of
means of transmission). From the electrical telegraph of Samuel Morse (1837) to the transmission of
voice and image over the Internet (Skype, Hangout etc.), the Telecommunications has developed too
much and affected the world and the human being behavior.
Telecommunications means the transmission of information between two stations. Basically, a
transmitter, a receiver and an electrical mean channel are enough to complete a telecommunication
process. The channel can be a cable, electromagnetic waves or fiber optics. This system is
interconnected in a very large network on which all communications in the world is done. A simple
fixed telephone call, a cellphone call, a satellite transmission, an e mail, a download of a music,
everything is possible because of this network.
Even though the main goal of this network is the communication, it can go beyond this. Actually, this
large system supports the international trade, the online education, the exchanging of messages (e
mail, short message), the Internet, the bank transactions and many other services. Besides, a new kind

Amygdala
The neural regulation of emotional perception, learning, and memory is essential for normal
behavioral and cognitive functioning. The neurotransmitter dopamine (DA) modulates neural regions
involved in emotional learning, perception, and memory formation. The amygdala is part of the
interconnected set of structures that are referred to as the limbic system. The primary function of the
limbic system is to modulate emotional and motivated behavior. The amygdala plays a key role in
evaluating the emotional valence of stimuli. An example of this is when the amygdala lesions defect
fear behavior in animals. In humans the amygdala is sensitive to facial expressions of fear or
threatening words. This could be represented by wide eye expressions. Damage to the amygdala
impairs the ability to recognize the emotion of fear. Urbach Wiethe disease is a genetic disorder
leading to atrophy of the amygdala. Patients with amygdala damage are less responsive to features in
negative faces. The amygdala evaluates socially and emotionally relevant information in response to
facial stimuli. The amygdala is involved in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in promoting cognitive processing such as learning during emotionally arousing situations. Adrenal

The Diagnostic Statistical Manual For Mental Health
The Diagnostic Statistical Manual is an extremely important asset to the mental health field. The DSM
was created to assist clinicians in diagnosing and recognizing mental illness in their clients. It has been
used for over six decades and there are a total of five editions. Each edition has some updated and new
information that wasn t included in the last edition. The reason for the changes in the DSM is because
the mental health field is always evolving. There s new information that s discovered from research
and is implemented into the next DSM. All mental health clinicians have the common goal of
providing treatment to their clients in the best and most effect way possible. Homosexuality was once
labeled a mental illness in the DSM, but in a later edition it was removed from the DSM. In May
2013, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) published the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5). This culminated 12 years of work with the stated
goal of enhancing the clinical usefulness of DSM 5 as a guide in the diagnosis of mental disorders
(APA, 2013, p. 5). The latest edition of the DSM is DSM 5 it represents some of the most current
information on clinical psychology. Clinicians all over the world use the same DSM and that s
important for whole host of reasons. Some reason are to ensure that everyone is getting the best
treatment possible and to make sure clinicians are following a guideline to diagnose people and not

Analysis Of Fantasy Sports
Before we determine if fantasy sports are luck or skills based let s analyze the set up. First, you
deposit a minimum of $25 and play contests. Before you make your draft of an eight player team you
will be given a $60,000 salary cap. This will restrict you from picking eight of the highest players like
Russell Westbrook and James harden who cost upwards of $12,000 each, living you with players that
have average cost of $4000 each. A player like James Harden usually consistently drops 60 fantasy
points a night while a player that costs $3000 will not even play and a player that costs $5,000
averages about 20 fantasy points but will give you 30 and 10 the next night, thus not dependable. In
addition, all of this information is available once ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other ways draftkings has leveled the playing field is by offering different competitions. For
example, the top players usually play the contest with the biggest rewards. This contests are usually a
$3 entry where the winner takes home half a million dollars and the second place person gets like
250k, 3rd gets like 100k and so on. The prizes are top heavy meaning only like 20% of the contestants
win. In addition, this contest allow multiple entries so the winner could be first though fifteen with the
same lineup. On average while playing cash games you usually expect to double your entry with a
decent lineup. Cash games that hand out millions of dollars are more luck than skill because you re
competing against thousands of people but there is more to draftkings than cash

Laboratory Design Dq
For this task I am analysing why a good laboratory design is important for efficiency and
effectiveness. The main aim of an effective lab design is to create space which reduces the traffic flow
and allows the technicians to move around the lab in a suitable way. Good lab designs will also
improve the environment in the lab. An effective design allows space for cleaning systems and
processes such as ducting. I will have a ducting system coming from the fume hoods, through the
cooling system and out of the laboratory. I will include this here because it is the shortest possible way
of making an exit for the system. Having a tidy and efficient lab makes the work easier for the staff so
they perform their tasks better and get more done therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This makes the staff able to perform more tasks, making the lab and the amount of work more
efficient. There will be chemicals used to dilute different solutions in my lab which may perhaps be
toxic or hazardous. I have included special facility storage in my lab which ensures safety and
protection for the staff. To make the lab more efficient, I have placed rooms in areas in terms of logic
so it makes the work easier to do and avoids contaminating anything by trailing samples through the
lab. If I was to have a poor design, this would make the lab dangerous as dangerous chemicals could
be leaked over other samples and potentially the technicians if they aren t wearing the appropriate
clothing. I have also included an open space area in order to allow more tasks to be performed,
meaning more tasks get completed and is therefore more efficient. All around my lab I have included
fire exits, which further more protects the staff and gives them a sense of comfort knowing that there
is a nearby escape route from wherever they are working. I have also added other safety features such
as eye wash stations and protective

Conventional versus Traditional Methods of Treatment on Psychotic Patients
Introduction
The following reading will present the discussion about cognitive behavioral therapy and how if in
any way, improves the quality of life of patients living with schizophrenia when compared to
conventional pharmacological treatments. Schizophrenia is a debilitating disease that can impact all
areas of an individual life. Even with the use of many therapies available there is room to investigate
which forms of treatment improve the quality of their life. Relapses are high despite all the efforts
made to treat schizophrenia. Increasing evidence suggests that individuals with schizophrenia do best
with a combination of pharmacological and psychosocial intervention (Addington and Lecomte 2012).
Recent traditional cognitive behavioral therapy has been shown to improve the positive and negative
symptoms associated with psychotic patients even when they are compliant with pharmacological
medications. Nurses must integrate the best evidence based treatments shown in practice in order to
care and monitor patients who are schizophrenic thought their lifespan.
Population
Statistical data shows that schizophrenia can be found in one percent of the world s population. The
disorder is partially genetic and occurs usually among young adults, although it can also be developed
later in life. Certain stressors and triggers have been found to increase the risks of developing
schizophrenia. As a result many

School Schedule Essay
The School Schedule of the Future Jefferson County had an overpopulation problem, but the decision
for what to do turned out to be a fairly easy one. Instead of building costly schools and using the all
important tax payer money, they decided to use what they already had and made the intelligent and
cost savvy switch to year round schooling all the way back in 1973 (White 27). Year round schooling
consists of districts that, instead of using the traditional 9 month calendar, they have sessions for the
entire year with small break periods to split up the year into semesters (Krueger A14). Or, some
schools choose to run in tracks (groups of students) to reduce the number of active students physically
inside the school, while actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way they were able to avoid building these schools is using the multi track system of year round
schooling. This allows for a greater number of students to enroll while having the same amount of
students as a 9 month schedule. The way this happens is by having one track on break while the other
four go to school and then switching which track is on break after 2 3 weeks. This example shows the
money saving power of these types of schedules. This is not the only example of saving multiple
millions of dollars either, the Jefferson County School District saved money by switching and the
Oxnard School district, a District in California was able to receive incentive funds for doing so aswell
(White 27). Schools can then use the extra money saved from not building schools or earned from
incentives from the schedule switch to hire new (and better) teachers. The most important thing about
any school of course is giving the students as good an education as they can get. With year round
schedules, schools may be able to improve retention for students due to the limited break periods and
give students a better education, regardless of any disabilities. The problem with the current schedule
is the enormous amount of time that students are given for summer break. Researchers found that
Even for an average child, the whole first month of school is wasted relearning last year s material
(Davey AA08). This is a problem. It is absurd to waste

Exile In The Kite Runner
Exile is defined as expulsion from one s native land by authoritative decree. Meaning one cannot go
back to the place in which they were born and raised. Although, Mahmoud Darwish has a different
take on exile saying Exile is more than just a geographical concept. You can be an exile in your
homeland, in you own house, in a room. Exile is also a theme in The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
The quote relates to the theme of exile in novel because of Hassan s departure from the house causing
Amir to leave his homeland and childhood without him. Ali and Hassan left the house because they
did not feel welcome anymore. After everything Amir did, Ali resolves to tell Baba that him and
Hassan are leaving (Hosseini 106). Like what the Mahmoud ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When Amir returned to Afghanistan he stood outside the gates of [his] father s house, feeling like a

house, but was not able to go inside because it did not belong to him anymore. Even though, he was
flooded with memories of his childhood and the days when he was happy. Especially the people of his
childhood, particularly Hassan. All this saddens him and Farid advises him nothing that you
remembered has survived, best to forget (Hosseini 263). A room is where one spends most of their
time, and therefore is where many of their memories take place. There is nothing significant about a
room but it is about the memories that take place in and around the room that make it significant.
Since Amir was exiled from the room he was also exiled from the childhood memories that took place
there. The only proof of the events of his childhood was no longer in the room but only in his mind.
Meaning the advice gave about forgetting would be unthinkable. In a changed Afghanistan there was
one thing that hadn t changed about Kabul at all: the kabobs were still succulent and delicious as [he]

Did the Development in European Warfare During the...
Did the development in European warfare during the Sixteenth Century amount to a Military
Revolution ?
By the Sixteenth century, Luther had successfully challenged the Catholic Church from 1517 and
Copernicus had declared a solar centric universe in 1543. These are both historical events in early
modern Europe. The dramatic changes in Military warfare are also seen as key to European
developments in separating the medieval society from the Modern. The military developments change
that art and organisation of warfare effecting the development of the early modern European state. The
Sixteenth Century brings about new technology, weapons, tactics and armies that some see a resulting

Without Military thinkers such as Gonzalo de Cordoba, Maurice of Orange and Gustavus Adolphus
the military changes would never have taken place. Maurice of Orange had small units of highly
trained soldier in manoeuvres that need many more officers and NCOs to lead them. Gustav Adolf
improved fire discipline and the long practise in arms. Also enforces the importance of military
education and mathematics in European warfare.
Strategy was another major area of revolution in military Europe in the sixteenth century. With the
development of new soldier and armies strategies become more ambitious. Ruler were more confident
about campaigning against many different armies at the same time and took part in decisive battles
without the fear that mercenary soldier would run away. Gustavus Adolphus was one of the first to put
these new strategic concepts to the test according to the historian Roberts8. He returns to a linear
formation for shot armed infantry and an aggressive style of charge for the cavalry.
However strategic development does not confirm the argument that a Military revolution took place in
sixteenth century Europe. There were changes but rather evolutionary and progressive then that of a
revolution. Gustavus Adolphus strategic warfare may not be seen as

Social Learning Theory Case Study
Social learning:
The social learning theory is one the most significant theories that came about in the 1960s by Albert
Bandura as it made it clear as to how individuals acquire and develop new behaviors through
modeling others behaviors. As indicated by (Chavis, 2012), social learning theory is of great of
importance due to its sheer influence on human development, and it s established in many of the
fundamental concepts of traditional learning. The theory focuses on the social context in which
learning takes place, and it suggests that people learn from each other (Chavis, 2012). Therefore,
social learning theory helps us explain why individuals behave in a certain way. Bandura didn t much
agree with what behaviorists suggested about how human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Operant conditioning argues that animals and humans alike tend to behave in social context based on
the outcomes of their behaviors (Kretchmar, 2015). Negative outcome punishment decreases the
chance of individuals to behave in a certain way, while positive outcome reinforcement increases the
probability for individuals to show a particular behavior (Kretchmar, 2015). Bandura thought operant
conditioning was an insufficient theory for explaining observational learning (Kretchmar, 2015).
According to (Kretchmar, 2015), Bandura wasn t in agreement with behaviorists who considered
reinforcement as a necessary component of learning, and he demonstrated that behavior and learning
are different from each other. Bandura suggested that people tend to imitate whatever they happen to
watch even if they are not reinforced for that behavior (Kretchmar, 2015). This simply happens when
they see that other people get reinforced for their exhibited behavior, subsequently this works as an
incentive for them to reproduce this behavior (Kretchmar, 2015). Being aware of the limitations of
behaviorism and operant conditioning, Bandura considered coming up with a new theory social
learning which was first called

Exploration of Castles Essay
Exploration of Castles
A.D 450 saw the creation of castles. Romans were replaced by Anglo Saxon foes, and these did leave
behind a system of castles however these were for Motte and Bailey castles built in the reign of
Edward the confessor.
The Norman invasion of 1066 was one of the causes for castles to become an important part of
defence. After king Harold s defeat by William the conqueror, William was concerned about how he
would control the country with only a limited number of troops facing a hostile environment. He did
not have enough troops to station them everywhere, so he used a very useful tactic that had worked in
Normandy previously. This was a simplified castle known as a ... Show more content on

The pathways and ladders that allowed reach to important areas of the castle have been removed or
destroyed; and the enemy are at a disadvantage because they are facing attack from a raised level.
As time progressed, the situation in England changed. The Normans were now in control of England
and there was little resistance from hostile sources, therefore a concentration on the development of
castles occurred.
Less time was needed for castles to be constructed quickly and therefore time could be used to search
for better materials for building. This meant that stone could be used instead of wood, which was used
previously. By 1100, the earth that had held Motte and bailey castles had now settles, and was capable
of sustaining much larger weights. With the change to stone castles, fire was not a concern as it was
when Motte and baileys were in use.
Square keeps were used when the development of stone castles were quite young. They were often
built in the most important places, to show how powerful the Normans were. Square keeps were good
because of the immense thickness of the walls. The walls in square keeps were often up to 5 metres
thick, and 30 metres high. This added to the strength of the castle because the walls could easily
withstand attacks from siege weapons such as magonels and trebuchets.

Although magical realism originally began exclusively apart of Latin American history, it has

Atlanta Truck Awareness Essay
Let An Atlanta Truck Accident Attorney Help Protect Your Rights! According to the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), approximately 342,000 large trucks were involved
in traffic collisions in the United States during 2013. From the data collected by the NHTSA, seventy
one percent of truck accident fatalities were people in other vehicles and seventy two percent of the
injuries were sustained by occupants of other vehicles. This disparity between truck drivers and
occupants of other vehicles is likely caused by the difference in weight and size between commercial
trucks and passenger vehicles. During a collision, the force of the impact from a commercial truck can

The trucking industry is governed by complex federal laws and regulations. You need an experienced
Atlanta truck accident lawyer who understands trucking regulations and laws to protect your right to a
full settlement. For example, large trucks are required to have black boxes (much like the boxes in
airplanes) that record critical information such as speed and braking immediately prior to a collision.
If you do not hire an attorney with experience handling large truck accident claims, your attorney may
fail to take quick action to protect the evidence on the truck s black box. This could be the evidence
you need to prove the truck driver was at fault for the collision. You must prove fault in order to
receive compensation for your injuries. Furthermore, insurance companies for the trucking industry
aggressively defend truck accident claims because large truck accident claims are usually quite
substantial. Therefore, insurance companies have teams of professionals who immediately begin
investigating the case to limit the company s liability. Aggressive insurance adjusters and investigators
pursue accident victims to attempt to obtain evidence to use against them or pressure them into
settling the claim prior to consulting with an Atlanta personal injury

The Marvel Of The Movie Watchmen
Subsequently, while most superhero plots involve an element of fantasy, the characters in Moore s
graphic novel are, for the most part, embedded into pessimistic version of reality with only lifelike
traits. Obviously, the one glaring exception in Watchmen is Doctor Manhattan, who is transformed
into a being capable of a number of otherworldly abilities. However, the other five heroes in the story
are regular humans who take the initiative to aid in the protection of society. This is unlike most
superheroes in previous comics, who are often blessed with a divine power that allows them to
conquer all evil. Additionally, referring to the society in which Moore s heroes are immersed in, it is
situated in a location known to its readers, with a certain twist. While Superman has his Metropolis
and Batman has his Gotham City, the six costumed adventurers are based in New York City, or more
accurately, a filthy parody of it. The universe in which Moore sets his story is the closest to reality,
with a hyperbolic emphasis on the evil in society, in which superheroes have been set it. Hence, the
problems presented to the superheroes are not something to be combatted with fantastical talents, but
more nuanced with realistic obstacles without a clear solution. In Watchmen, the imminent threat of
nuclear war is a state of affairs that would have been realistic for readers, particularly during the time
period of the graphic novel s release in 1987. This, coupled with the urban violence

William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night as a Feminist Play
I agree to a certain extent that twelfth night is a feminist play. What exactly is feminism? It simply
means subversion of traditional ideas of gender. This means that men are supposed to be active,
rational, wise, perceptive, loyal and trustworthy. On the other hand, Women are supposed to be
passive, emotional, shallow, vain, deceptive and fickle.
I agree to a certain extent that Twelfth Night is a feminist play [meaning that I agree to it] as the
female characters are essentially good and most males in the play have flaws. For example, Sir
Andrew is weak, Sir Toby is a drunkard, Orsino is full of self love and Malvolio is extremely ... Show

The women in this play are also sacrificial. A tremendously good example to proof this is the character
Viola. Viola s love for Orsino is silent and concealed. She is the long suffering woman and her
sincerity is shown in her actions, sacrificing her happiness for Orsino s happiness. Her love for Orsino
is also shown in her silence. She does not indulge in public displays of affection. Rather her love is
silent yet strong and powerful as may be observed in the soliloquy which ends the scene in a rhyming
couplet Yet a barful strife! / Whoe er I wife . These short lines reveal her intense longing and desire for
Orsino. Viola shows a very sacrificial type of love. Viola is in a dilemma which is due to the fact that
she is torn between pleasing Orsino and making him happy by helping him get Olivia and yet the fear
of losing him if she helps him. But despite her dilemma, she tells Orsino that she will do her best/ To
woo his [your] lady . She is sacrificing her own happiness for Orsino s happiness. Unlike Orsino
whose love is not sacrificial at all!
The love he has for Olivia should actually be defined as infatuation because his love is simply not
sacrificial and true love is the total opposite as true love is very sacrificial.
Twelfth Night is also at the same time a play where mostly all the women are witty and intelligent.

and differences as leaders. First of all, Brezhnev, a hard nosed communist, cared a lot about
communist countries because the Soviet Union had the right to intervene if communism was
threatened in other communist state. On the other hand, Gorbachev had no intention in communist
countries. A foreign policy under Gorbachev was not very strong. However, the economy in the Soviet
Union under both Brezhnev and Gorbachev was bad. According to Brezhnev, the government s central
planning led to a huge and complex bureaucracy, collective farmers had no incentive to work hard,
and there were high standard of living. Also, under Gorbachev, the economic issues led to a slow

an enormous military budget under communism were too high that they would not afford it.
Furthermore, due to the ethnic tensions and allowing non communist political party to organize, one

Munro offers us (the reader) a bouquet of stories in one: the narrator s escape from and longing for
both lover and husband; Charlotte and her husband Gjurdhi, who are somewhere between threats,
exemplars of surviving love and pathos (as Munro s late middle aged couples often are); the adventure
of Lottar and the Franciscan priest who helps her escape from what is both new home and prison; the
antagonistic mating dance between the bookstore owner and her new, odd friends, Charlotte and
Gjurdhi. (Bloom 1995) The change from one character s point of view or narrative to another is
changing the setting and mood of the story. The narrator is indirectly portraying her as they both
moved to British Columbia and opened a bookstore. It is like telling the story of three individuals with
relation to her own life. When Munro was asked once in an interview as to why she used both first and
third person, her reply was it allows you to move around a bit more, and it allows you to say things
about other characters (MacKendrick, 24). Munro s use of stories is one of her many forms of
conforming the different narratives and points of view together. She tells the story the way that she
sees it forming and lets the reader figure it out for themselves. In this story, the reader has to first
realize that the main story is not on the bookstore owner, but on Charlotte, the woman

Where Is The Narrator In The Cask Of Amontillado
The narration is shifted from first to second person and back to first person in the beginnings of
different novels in alternate chapters, and sometimes to third person. The author forces us, the readers,
to take on the role of the Reader that makes me the main character of the story. The story unfolds more
truths about myself and how I behave when I m about to read a novel, which literally messes with my
brains by letting me believe that I m probably being watched as I read on. Calvino successfully kept
me confused and curious throughout with his clever narration. I thought about why he chose to narrate
in the way he does, and would he ever introduce himself. In chapter Without fear of wind or vertigo,
on page 84 the narrator introduces himself as Alex Zinnober; and in the chapter Looks down in the
gathering shadow, on page 107 he introduces his name as Ruedi the Swiss. The first name almost
convinced me that Alex is the common narrator and that he sees himself in all the novels he reads one

Student Writers And Experienced Adult Writers Analysis
Revision Strategies of Student Writers and Experienced Adult Writers by Nancy Sommers In Nancy
Sommer s article she explains how Gordon Rohman s and James Britton s linear models of writing are
primarily derived from our speech process and lack focus on revision strategies. Her research shows
the differences between how student writers approach revising their papers compared to experienced
adult writers. Student writers look at revision as changing words to avoid repetition, not to further
develop an idea or rethink an argument. They are simply reviewing the paper for redundancy and

possess a nonlinear theory to revision (52). They strategize and theorize to recognize and resolve the
dissonance they sense in their writing (51). The experience writers theory has two elements of the
revision process which encompasses a holistic perspective and a recursive process. They consider
every part of their writing as a potential for change. Sentences, ideas, word structure, organization are

Through the years, service programs became popular and by the late 1980 s about twenty states were
in the beginning process for nationwide service programs for students. President Clinton passed the
National and Community Service Trust Act in 1993. It stated that the Americorps program should

Thousands of schools have now incorporated service learning in their program of study (Wade 25).
Service learning has improved over the years and has a specific structure that highlights what is
important about it. Service learning encompasses different components that are essential for quality
education. The beginning process of a service learning project is the preparation that comes before the
actual learning experience (Wade 21). This step involves careful planning and collaboration of
everyone s ideas that are to be involved in the project. The responsibilities and outcomes that the

The Effects Of Soil Management On Environmental Quality...
1. Literature Review
Capacity of a soil to function in supporting important ecosystems without producing a negative
interaction with the environment is referred to as soil quality (Larson and Pierce, 1991). This concept
integrates physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil (Idowu et al, 2009). As there is an
increased awareness regarding the impact of soil management on environmental quality and
production of agriculture (Doran and Parkin, 1994), this concept of soil quality has gained increased
attention all over the world (Idowu et al, 2009). These interactions determine the ability of the soil to
perform some of its very important functions such as retention and release of nutrients, moisture, and
resistance to degradation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indicators of soil quality can be defined as those soil properties, which are most responsive to changes
in soil processes (Andrews et al, 2004). These indicators play an important role in assessing the
management induced changes in the soil system. These must be diverse enough to represent the
different physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil and the various soil processes
(Gregorich et al, 1994; Doran and Parkin, 1996). Management Data set (MDS) has been created by
using a group of selected soil quality indicators, which provide an evaluation of change in soil system
as influenced by different management techniques. (Idowu et al, 2009). MDS has been created for a
particular management goal (Andrews et al, 2002; Karlen et al, 2006). Easily measurable soil
indicators are often required by the land managers for assessing the soil functions in relation to
different management practices (Idowu et al, 2009).
It was argued by Larson and Pierce (1991) that soil quality measurement should not be limited to
agricultural productivity, as this concept has led to the degradation of the soil in the past. There is a
need to develop a generalized assessment tool, which should be able to include the multiple soil
functions in different combinations (Idowu et al, 2009). This will include the laboratory analysis, site
specific interpretations, and understanding the effect of management on a particular soil

EHR Mandate
IT and EHR mandate Ky Mack Ohio University It and EHR mandate The purpose of this paper is to
discuss the ehr mandate and how it relates to affordable care act. The six steps in implementation of an
electronic health record and how I would use them in the nursing home. The definition of what
meaningful use is and what is HIPAA and what could happen if those laws were violated On April 27,
2007 President Bush started the EHR mandate. The EHR mandate is to help reduce cost, improve

Evolution Of Superman Film
The posters for each superman film reflect the evolution of superman and filmic technology. Poster
three (man of steel) is most effective for advertising superhero films whereas poster two ( superman
1978) represents the idea of superman and this will be argued with close reference to the respective
Superman filmic posters .
The posters for Superman 1978 reflects the evolution of the Superman films to a limited extent as this
film was only the second set of Superman films .Superman (poster 2) also known as Clark Kent still
represents the comical and original idea of superman with the bright red and blue hues on the costume,
typical superhero image. More over the image of superman consisting of mostly good is still present
and represented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poster shows a hint of character devepoment from the all good clichéd superman to a better
rounded character. This shown by the use of destroyed city6 background and as well as the ray of
sunlight behind superman and the use of a low angle shot that shows the strength of a character. The
usual superman saves the city all by himself notion is abolished in the poster with the use of fighter
jets in the background emphasising san event that is somewhat a national emergency in which the man
steel requires assistance. However poster 3 only show the fact that man of steel might have become
faster ( use of blurred buildings) and is experiencing some type off physical strain. Which in this case
aslo reflects on character development but other than that , the extent in which poster three reflects on
the evolution of Superman is limited.
In terms of filmic technology posters one and two show a limited amount limited comic technology
because of the comical look to the filmic posters. the costume which superman wears in the second
poster is mainly made of ordinary cloth which reiterates simplicity .where as in the filmic posters for
Man of steel show a lot of development in filmic technology as the poster(s) have more detail. And the

Rhetorical Analysis Of Salman Rushdie By Scott Russell...
In response to an essay by Salman Rushdie, author Scott Russell Sanders critiques Rushdie s assertion
that to be a migrant is, perhaps, to be the only species of human being free of the shackles of
naturalism (Rushdie). Sanders believes that constant movement and migration results in disastrous
consequences for the earth and for ourselves, and he argues that settling is essential for humans
(Sanders). In this passage, Sanders uses and inductive structure beginning with broad examples of
American romanticism of transient lifestyle, and ends with his thesis, leading the reader down a path
directly to his counter of Rushdie s claim. Furthermore, Sanders provides historical examples to
logically show the benefits of making a home in a restless world (Sanders). ... Show more content on

Our heroes have been sailors, explorers,... rainbow chasers, vagabonds, Sanders states, providing non
specific information relating to the American notion of migration. After describing the fundamentals
of mass migrations, Sanders then goes on to compare Salman Rushdie s steadfast support of human
relocation to America s enthusiasm for migration. (Sanders). Nevertheless, Sanders counters this
comparison by presenting evidence that refutes Rushdie s ideals. Concluding this passage, Sanders
establishes his thesis: by settling in, we have a chance of making a durable home for ourselves, our
fellow creatures, and our descendants. (Sanders). By following this inductive structure─moving from
broad information down to his thesis─Sanders is able to effectively execute his purpose of challenging
Rushdie and supporting settling in

Inhumanity In 1910s
Prosperity with Exploitation and Social Unrest To Japanese economy, 1910s is definitely the era for
growth, era for boom and era for wealth accumulation. The exports in Japan raised from 228 Million
US Dollars at the beginning of 1910s to 603 US Dollars when the period ended. Its weighting to the
world s manufacturing exports rose from 1.8% in 1910 to 3.9% after 1910s. The GDP level of Japan
climbed from 64559 million Gaeary Khamis dollars (base year as 1990) in 1910 to over 100000
million in 1919. Those figure indicated that this decade is the golden decade for Japanese economy.
However, behind the prosperity, Japanese society is full of exploitation and inhumanity, which leads to
the social unrest in this decade. Behind the fast growing rate, the factory and industry owner did not
share the gain with its workers, but exploited them in a more severe way. For instance,
methamphetamine (See Invention 1) was invented in this period to maintain the production efficiency
of workers for a longer hour to cut down the production cost. This shown that behind the prosperity,
only the rich and some of the middle class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rice market price rose significantly in 1917 1918 while the income of the peasants as well as other
workers remained the same as the factory owner and government wanted to lower the cost to maintain
the competitiveness of Japanese exports and keep the high rate of growth. The huge climb of price
level while the income nearly remained the same had severely declined the living standard of the low
class Japanese. This led to a series of protest and unrest in the late 1910s. Rice riot (See Event 1) is
one of the example of those unrest movement. Those social movements had led to further reform of
the Japanese government and society, which would be discussed in the following

Speech On Mass Shootings
I have been a student at the Thomas County School System ever since I started pre school. I have
loved every minute of it. I have learned and had great experiences here but over the last four years of
my high school experience, I have noticed that there have been more and more scares of bombings
and shootings. Even though we do have a safe school and take precautions, there is still room for
error, I am proposing that we make the school a safer place for kids to learn by installing bulletproof
glass and each class having a door stopper. Most history about this subject really only goes back 70
years ago. Before that, no one knew what mass shooting were. These events were not committed
during these times. This subject is a relatively new concept that is mainly found in the U.S. In a recent
study, it shows that we are the leading country for mass shootings (Willingham). Following our
country is the Philippines, with a difference of 72 (Willingham). But it does not stop there, these
events are counting with new mass shootings like the Las Vegas Shooting, which is now the largest
one in our country s history with over 50 deaths and over 500 injuries (Yan, et. al.). Even though these
shootings are not near Thomasville. They are everywhere. They could easily strike in our town and no
one would be able to plan. Most of these events are mainly located in California, Florida, and Illinois,
and following that is Texas, Alabama, and Georgia (Willingham) One of the first mass

The Power Of Literacy In Jimmy Santiago Baaca s Coming...
Jimmy Santiago Baca s Coming into Language displays a dark, yet uplifting view of the power of
literacy. From his beginning in the hospital, toward the end during his imprisonment, Baca moves
from the mindset of a rebellious teenager to a poetic adult. Through vivid descriptions, metaphors, the
appeal to the audience s emotions, and Baca sets up a transformational framework to show how
literacy can be a way of escape. Baca s story seeks to explain a point of view that one is more likely to
become incarcerated and to struggle in life if he is uneducated. I wrote to sublimate my rage, from a
place where all hope is gone, from a madness of having been damaged too much, from a silence of
killing rage (Baca).
In his writing, Baca uses word pictures to show a side of despair in his life that eventually leads to a
positive change where he now has hope. The beginning is filled with scenarios of him working in an
emergency room mopping up pools of blood and carting plastic bags stuffed with arms, legs and hands
to the outdoor incinerator (Baca), then moves on to detailed descriptions of his times spent
incarcerated, and how the detectives treat an intoxicated man. His shrill screams raked my nerves like
a hacksaw on bone, the desperate protest of his dignity against their inhumanity. (Baca) The wording
he uses describes a vivid, violent, and at times beautiful view. Throughout the narrative, Baca builds
an explanation of the circumstances he is in, and builds a visual where

  • 2. Advantages And Dilemmas Of Cooperative Business Most managers and entrepreneurs of co operative businesses face similar management issues. Yet the basis for their success rests with the choices they make. Any type of business will be concerned with the question of productivity: what productive role fits the business the best and where will this put the co operative in the economic marketplace. Then it comes to a certain style in which the co operative business differentiates from the rest. It is the style of the co operative business that drives the performance. There are several dilemmas that a co operative business may face when dealing with the areas of productivity and style. 1. The first dilemma: Innovate or Conserve There is an importance to innovate and a manager of a co operative business should aim to get the maximum out of the current business. If no investment is implemented, there comes a moment where current business declines with a new innovation. If too much investment occurs, then it may jeopardize the continuity of the current business. 2. The second dilemma: Sole Production or Leverage on Third Parties What is the context of the co operative business? Does the manager of the co operative face their own production or leverage on third parties? Both require different competencies. 3. The third dilemma: Support or Lead Does the manager of the ... Co operatives require funding especially if it a non profit organization. A co operative that has financial problems makes it less attractive to people with money to invest. As a result, co operatives are more likely to have problems raising adequate capital and are more dependent than conventional businesses on debt then on share capital. This increases the riskiness of co operative businesses due to the cost of servicing the debt and the requirement to repay the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ultra High Temperature Ceramics (UHTC) Essay Ultra high temperature ceramics (UHTCs) are materials rarely found in nature, characterized by high melting points, hardness, thermal conductivities (if compared to other ceramics), good wear resistance and mechanical strength.1,2,3 Besides, they are chemically and thermally stable under a variety of conditions due to their high negative free energy of formation.1,3 The materials that fit in these criteria are ceramics compounds made of borides, nitrides and carbides. As a result of having those properties, this class of material can be applied in extreme environments such as extreme temperatures, chemical reactivity and erosive attack. Because of that, in the 1950 s, studies started to analyze the possibility of using them to coat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Antidepressants Cause Birth Defects The main argument being made is that some antidepressants can cause birth defects, the article provides us with a study to help prove this. The study looked at data on more than 38,000 women who had given birth in 1997 2009 and compared what the mother s antidepressants are and the child s number of birth defects (Neighmond, 2015). One concept or idea that ties into child development is epigenetics, where the environment influences or alters gene expression (Berk, 2018), which makes me wonder if in some cases the child being exposed to an environment of a depressed mother, it may cause some genes to alter. This also ties into the concept of passive gene environment, where parents who are genetically related to the child set up the environment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example could be, if the mother or father is showing signs of depression, they may neglect to take proper care for the child. Maybe because they are depressed, they may not focus all their time into the child, rather focusing on their depression. A woman who avoids taking antidepressants during her pregnancy to try and ensure her baby is born without defects could still have a child with some sort of birth defect, other things can cause birth defects, such as current or prior drug use illegal or prescribed, or in other cases that child is just genetically predisposed to it. Birth defects can happen due to genes malfunctioning or even when there are problems with a chromosome (Berk, 2018). So, it is impossible to say that a pregnant mother can avoid birth defects by not taking antidepressants. This idea is further reinforced by Jennita Reefhuis in her abstract video when she cautions us that antidepressants are not the only thing that can cause birth defects, other possibilities such as pre existing conditions in the mother who takes antidepressants or other unknown influences may have a large impact on birth defects as well (Reefhuis, ... • 5. Apathy and Addiction in William Gibson s Neuromancer Essay Apathy and Addiction in Neuromancer In the postmodern world of William Gibson s Neuromancer, nature is dead, and the world is run by the logic of the corporate machine. Confronted by a reality that is stark, barren, and metallic, and the hopelessness that this reality engenders, the postmodern protagonist, like Case, often immerses himself or herself in an alternate form of reality that is offered in the form of addiction (to virtual reality or drugs, for example), addictions that are made possible by the same society that makes an escape desirable. Such addictions are logical products of the post modern capitalist society because they perpetuate the steadfast power of the corporation by allowing would be dissidents an ... Case, as a young virtual cowboy, disdains the pleasures of the flesh, craving only the more total escape of the matrix an escape from his bodily existence or the meat. When this escape from reality is denied him, Case feels more fully the limitations and hopelessness of the world in which he lives and perceives his physical reality as a trap: Case fell into the prison of his own flesh. (6) Denied the escape of the matrix, the escape for which he lives, Case turns to drugs in an attempt to create a fast unreal existence for himself that approximates the rush he receives from the matrix: Get just wasted enough and it was possible to see Ninsei as a field of data, the way the matrix had once reminded him of proteins linking (16). Case uses the drugs to blind himself to the realities of his world, the dead perilous world that is Ninsei, the lack of hope or direction in his life, and his own terror and self loathing. Case ensconces himself in a distorted protective reality, a portable bombshelter built of booze and ups (21). Without the escape from the flesh that the matrix had once offered him, Case seems to be without any motivation to survive and indeed seems intent on his own self destruction. These primitive polymers were created by nature to fulfill the needs of information storage, energy storage and information reproduction. Human made polymers are a more recent invention, of the last two hundred years or so. These polymers are general made of highly flammable hydrocarbons and their derivatives. Fires caused by a combination of human careless and the physical properties of hydrocarbons have caused millions of dollars in property damage and claimed an untold number of human lives. At higher temperatures the phosphoric acid can help in the generation of cross linked species and can under go polymerization to form polyphosphates. Which react with the cross linked species to form the char layer. Borated species work the same way, they form a glassy surface that helps protect and insulate the substrate. The final pathway that will be investigated is the suppression of radical species in the reaction space. This is done by introducing halogenated hydrocarbons and an inorganic enhancer into the polymer. When the polymer burns, halogen radicals are released into the gas phase. The halogen reacts with hydrogen, to form a hydrogen halide. Finally, this species reacts with either hydrogen or oxygen radical to form hydrogen gas or water vapor, respectfully. From this series of reactions the halogen radical is regenerated, where it reacts with either the polymer substrate or more gaseous hydrogen to form hydrogen halide. The halogen radicals are at a lower energy than either the hydrogen or oxygen radical species. The effectiveness of this method is dependent on the halogen used. The concerto then evolved into something rather different than what it was first considered. It s evolution turned into something in which both display and virtuosity soon assumed an ever increasing dominance (Anderson 13). Emergence of the Concerto The concerto emerged as a distinct genre in the year 1700 (Hutchings 15). However if it was in the early beginning or towards the end of the year, historians cannot agree on. This was the year that the concerto spread outwards from Italy into the court and church orchestras of German speaking States. The concerto had been the first orchestral form to be composed precisely for the most popular modern service of serious music, the orchestral concert (Hutchings 15). Corelli Corelli s only set of concertos was his Opus number 6. This set contained twelve concerti grossi for strings. That work of Corelli s was published the year after his death in 1714, in the city of Amsterdam (Anderson 4). In contrast to other sciences such as chemistry, which dates to around the time of the Egyptians, and physics, which came into vogue during the 1600s, molecular biology is truly a modern phenomenon. Until 1952, many biologists continued to believe that proteins carried genetic material. The next year, In 1953 James Watson and Francis Crick published their findings on the structure of DNA. Their proposition states that DNA consists of a double helix with alternating deoxyribose and phosphate molecules in the backbone. While many may attribute the structure of DNA to other scientists, it was Watson who formulated the model. To complete this, he synthesized data uncovered by his colleges, the most famous of which was Rosalind Franklin. Her understudy, Raymon Gosling, captured the iconic Photo 51, an X ray diffraction photograph of DNA. This image confirms the double helical structure of DNA. Also seen in the image is the sugar phosphate backbone. Another influence on Watson s conclusions was the work of Erwin Chargaff, who suggests that there are four ... In fact, the overwhelming advances that humankind has seen in the last decades in IT (internet, telephone, television and radio broadcasting, satellite communication) are effects of the advance of Telecommunications (normally the word is used in plural because it encompasses different types of means of transmission). From the electrical telegraph of Samuel Morse (1837) to the transmission of voice and image over the Internet (Skype, Hangout etc.), the Telecommunications has developed too much and affected the world and the human being behavior. Telecommunications means the transmission of information between two stations. Basically, a transmitter, a receiver and an electrical mean channel are enough to complete a telecommunication process. The channel can be a cable, electromagnetic waves or fiber optics. This system is interconnected in a very large network on which all communications in the world is done. A simple fixed telephone call, a cellphone call, a satellite transmission, an e mail, a download of a music, everything is possible because of this network. Even though the main goal of this network is the communication, it can go beyond this. Even with the use of many therapies available there is room to investigate which forms of treatment improve the quality of their life. Relapses are high despite all the efforts made to treat schizophrenia. Instead of building costly schools and using the all important tax payer money, they decided to use what they already had and made the intelligent and cost savvy switch to year round schooling all the way back in 1973 (White 27). Year round schooling consists of districts that, instead of using the traditional 9 month calendar, they have sessions for the entire year with small break periods to split up the year into semesters (Krueger A14). The way they were able to avoid building these schools is using the multi track system of year round schooling. This allows for a greater number of students to enroll while having the same amount of students as a 9 month schedule. The way this happens is by having one track on break while the other four go to school and then switching which track is on break after 2 3 weeks. This example shows the money saving power of these types of schedules. This is not the only example of saving multiple millions of dollars either, the Jefferson County School District saved money by switching and the Oxnard School district, a District in California was able to receive incentive funds for doing so aswell (White 27). Schools can then use the extra money saved from not building schools or earned from incentives from the schedule switch to hire new (and better) teachers. The most important thing about any school of course is giving the students as good an education as they can get. With year round schedules, schools may be able to improve retention for students due to the limited break periods and give students a better education, regardless of any disabilities. The problem with the current schedule is the enormous amount of time that students are given for summer break. With the development of new soldier and armies strategies become more ambitious. Ruler were more confident about campaigning against many different armies at the same time and took part in decisive battles without the fear that mercenary soldier would run away. Gustavus Adolphus was one of the first to put these new strategic concepts to the test according to the historian Roberts8. • 27. Social Learning Theory Case Study Social learning: The social learning theory is one the most significant theories that came about in the 1960s by Albert Bandura as it made it clear as to how individuals acquire and develop new behaviors through modeling others behaviors. As indicated by (Chavis, 2012), social learning theory is of great of importance due to its sheer influence on human development, and it s established in many of the fundamental concepts of traditional learning. The theory focuses on the social context in which learning takes place, and it suggests that people learn from each other (Chavis, 2012). Therefore, social learning theory helps us explain why individuals behave in a certain way. Bandura didn t much agree with what behaviorists suggested about how human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Operant conditioning argues that animals and humans alike tend to behave in social context based on the outcomes of their behaviors (Kretchmar, 2015). Negative outcome punishment decreases the chance of individuals to behave in a certain way, while positive outcome reinforcement increases the probability for individuals to show a particular behavior (Kretchmar, 2015). Bandura thought operant conditioning was an insufficient theory for explaining observational learning (Kretchmar, 2015). According to (Kretchmar, 2015), Bandura wasn t in agreement with behaviorists who considered reinforcement as a necessary component of learning, and he demonstrated that behavior and learning are different from each other. Bandura suggested that people tend to imitate whatever they happen to watch even if they are not reinforced for that behavior (Kretchmar, 2015). This simply happens when they see that other people get reinforced for their exhibited behavior, subsequently this works as an incentive for them to reproduce this behavior (Kretchmar, 2015). Being aware of the limitations of behaviorism and operant conditioning, Bandura considered coming up with a new theory social learning which was first called ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Norman invasion of 1066 was one of the causes for castles to become an important part of defence. After king Harold s defeat by William the conqueror, William was concerned about how he would control the country with only a limited number of troops facing a hostile environment. The pathways and ladders that allowed reach to important areas of the castle have been removed or destroyed; and the enemy are at a disadvantage because they are facing attack from a raised level. As time progressed, the situation in England changed. The Normans were now in control of England and there was little resistance from hostile sources, therefore a concentration on the development of castles occurred. Less time was needed for castles to be constructed quickly and therefore time could be used to search for better materials for building. This meant that stone could be used instead of wood, which was used previously. By 1100, the earth that had held Motte and bailey castles had now settles, and was capable of sustaining much larger weights. With the change to stone castles, fire was not a concern as it was when Motte and baileys were in use. Square keeps were used when the development of stone castles were quite young. They were often built in the most important places, to show how powerful the Normans were. Square keeps were good because of the immense thickness of the walls. The walls in square keeps were often up to 5 metres thick, and 30 metres high. This added to the strength of the castle because the walls could easily withstand attacks from siege weapons such as magonels and trebuchets. Text Box: Because of the ... From the data collected by the NHTSA, seventy one percent of truck accident fatalities were people in other vehicles and seventy two percent of the injuries were sustained by occupants of other vehicles. Obviously, the one glaring exception in Watchmen is Doctor Manhattan, who is transformed into a being capable of a number of otherworldly abilities. However, the other five heroes in the story are regular humans who take the initiative to aid in the protection of society. This is unlike most superheroes in previous comics, who are often blessed with a divine power that allows them to conquer all evil. Additionally, referring to the society in which Moore s heroes are immersed in, it is situated in a location known to its readers, with a certain twist. While Superman has his Metropolis and Batman has his Gotham City, the six costumed adventurers are based in New York City, or more accurately, a filthy parody of it. The universe in which Moore sets his story is the closest to reality, with a hyperbolic emphasis on the evil in society, in which superheroes have been set it. Hence, the problems presented to the superheroes are not something to be combatted with fantastical talents, but more nuanced with realistic obstacles without a clear solution. This led to a series of protest and unrest in the late 1910s. Rice riot (See Event 1) is one of the example of those unrest movement. Those social movements had led to further reform of the Japanese government and society, which would be discussed in the following ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Speech On Mass Shootings I have been a student at the Thomas County School System ever since I started pre school. I have loved every minute of it. I have learned and had great experiences here but over the last four years of my high school experience, I have noticed that there have been more and more scares of bombings and shootings. Even though we do have a safe school and take precautions, there is still room for error, I am proposing that we make the school a safer place for kids to learn by installing bulletproof glass and each class having a door stopper. Most history about this subject really only goes back 70 years ago. Before that, no one knew what mass shooting were. These events were not committed during these times. This subject is a relatively new concept that is mainly found in the U.S. In a recent study, it shows that we are the leading country for mass shootings (Willingham). Following our country is the Philippines, with a difference of 72 (Willingham). But it does not stop there, these events are counting with new mass shootings like the Las Vegas Shooting, which is now the largest one in our country s history with over 50 deaths and over 500 injuries (Yan, et. al.). Even though these shootings are not near Thomasville. They are everywhere. They could easily strike in our town and no one would be able to plan. Most of these events are mainly located in California, Florida, and Illinois, and following that is Texas, Alabama, and Georgia (Willingham) One of the first mass ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Power Of Literacy In Jimmy Santiago Baaca s Coming... Jimmy Santiago Baca s Coming into Language displays a dark, yet uplifting view of the power of literacy. From his beginning in the hospital, toward the end during his imprisonment, Baca moves from the mindset of a rebellious teenager to a poetic adult. Through vivid descriptions, metaphors, the appeal to the audience s emotions, and Baca sets up a transformational framework to show how literacy can be a way of escape. Baca s story seeks to explain a point of view that one is more likely to become incarcerated and to struggle in life if he is uneducated. I wrote to sublimate my rage, from a place where all hope is gone, from a madness of having been damaged too much, from a silence of killing rage (Baca). In his writing, Baca uses word pictures to show a side of despair in his life that eventually leads to a positive change where he now has hope. The beginning is filled with scenarios of him working in an emergency room mopping up pools of blood and carting plastic bags stuffed with arms, legs and hands to the outdoor incinerator (Baca), then moves on to detailed descriptions of his times spent incarcerated, and how the detectives treat an intoxicated man. His shrill screams raked my nerves like a hacksaw on bone, the desperate protest of his dignity against their inhumanity. (Baca) The wording he uses describes a vivid, violent, and at times beautiful view. Throughout the narrative, Baca builds an explanation of the circumstances he is in, and builds a visual where ...
