Bacteria and viruses are found everywhere on Earth. Bacteria are prokaryotic cells that can be rod-shaped, spiral-shaped, or circular. They reproduce through binary fission or conjugation. Viruses are non-living particles that contain DNA or RNA and reproduce by taking over host cells and forcing them to make more viruses. Bacteria and viruses cause many diseases in humans, but bacteria can also be beneficial as decomposers and in food processing, while vaccines can prevent viral infections.
