Society is defined as a group sharing culture, location, and government. Culture refers to the beliefs, ideas, values, and experiences shared by a society. There are 5 major types of societies: hunting/gathering, horticultural/pastoral, agricultural, industrial, and post-industrial. Culture has both material (physical objects) and nonmaterial (intangible) aspects like symbols, language, values, norms, folklore, and socialization. Anthropology studies different cultures, sociology relates culture to social order, and political science examines culture's role in society.
