Missionaries deal with cross-cultural communication and must consider the context and culture of the people they are communicating with. To be effective communicators, they must present their message personally, identify with the listener's context to motivate them, and find common ground so the message is valued. Communicating based on terms and ideas the listener understands increases the chance of a positive response. Active listening, identifying common ground, and being a credible witness through proven character and relationship are important for communicating with impact in another culture. Manipulation should be avoided.
