This document discusses the structures and functions of organelles in microbial cells and cell wall synthesis. It describes the three main layers that make up a bacterial cell: structures external to the cell wall including flagella, pili, and capsules; structures internal to the cell wall such as the cytoplasmic membrane, protoplasts, and nucleoid; and the cell wall composed primarily of peptidoglycan. Each structure is defined and its role explained, with flagella, pili, and the cell wall discussed in the most detail.
