Casual Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Casual Essay" is a task that may initially seem deceptively easy
due to its seemingly informal nature. However, crafting a coherent and engaging piece within
this genre presents its own set of challenges.
Firstly, the term "casual essay" itself is somewhat ambiguous, leaving room for interpretation. It
could imply a relaxed, conversational tone, but determining the appropriate level of informality
without veering into unprofessionalism can be tricky.
Additionally, maintaining a balance between informality and substance is crucial. While the
casual essay may allow for personal anecdotes, humor, and colloquial language, it still requires a
clear thesis, logical structure, and supporting evidence or examples to effectively convey ideas.
Moreover, the informal nature of this type of essay can make it challenging to strike the right
chord with the audience. Ensuring that the writing remains engaging without becoming overly
flippant or disjointed requires a keen awareness of tone and audience expectations.
Furthermore, the casual essay presents the challenge of navigating the fine line between being
too informal and too formal. Straying too far in either direction can detract from the overall
impact of the essay and diminish its effectiveness in communicating ideas effectively.
In conclusion, while the casual essay may appear straightforward at first glance, it actually
demands a delicate balance of informality and structure, as well as a nuanced understanding of
tone and audience. Crafting such an essay requires careful consideration and skill to achieve the
desired effect.

The Dual Nature Of Evil In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
Robert Louis Stevenson s archetypal novel, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr
Hyde is one which explores the many different aspects of evil in a variety of ways.
Stevenson tells the tale of an eminent Victorian doctor Henry Jekyll who pushes
the boundaries of science in order to separate the darker side of his character
which is innate in all of us to form a being which he can use to indulge his more
immoral pleasures yet, still leaving his reputation untarnished. However, he fails to
notice the dire consequences of his actions on himself and those around him, which
eventually lead to his demise. Through Stevenson s characterisation of both Jekyll
and Hyde we can explore the duality of man and how we recognise evil within
society. Whereas his use of setting and imagery allows the theme of concealment and
the hypocritical nature of evil to be explored. Society s interpretation of such... Show

Stevenson clearly aims that the reader should be conscious towards the fact that
we all possess both good and evil aspects within our characters and that it is up to
us which one we act upon. But also to be aware of the fact that should we choose
to release our inner Hyde he will grow increasingly greater in power and become
intensely difficult to control eventually overpowering our soul and possibly resulting
in our untimely deaths. But also we should be aware that prominent figures in
society such as members of governments and respected celebrities may too be
contaminated by evil behind closed doors. Overall, Robert Louis Stevenson s novel ,

The Battle Of Marathon And Salamis

The Battle of Marathon and The Battle of Salamis
The Battles of Marathon and Salamis each play an extremely important in early
Greek History for many reasons. They were not only battles in which the Greeks
showed their military prowess, but they were both battles which if lost, the future of
Greece would most likely have been changed forever. On this day, September 11th
in the year 490 BC, off of the Eastern Coast of Greece, a fleet of ships was amassing
in the distance headed towards the beach of Marathon. A massive fleet of 600
ships filled to the brim with Persian invaders, their goal was to invade and occupy
the city of Athens, which would have given them an extremely vital mainland base
in the center of early Greece. The Persian army consisted of 30,000 highly skilled
troops from all over the Persian Empire; the Greeks had about 11,000 troops. The
Persians had horsemen from East Asia and archers from India, where the Greeks
only had their high armored foot soldiers who had seen very little battles in their
lives. At the time Athens was the most influential city because it had adopted the
early Greek way of governing called Democracy. Athens had exiled its king and
moved into a democratic society, which seemed to make a lot more people happy,
they were really starting to embrace the Greek mentality of self rule and the power of
the individual. When the Greek army got wind of the impending Persian invasion via
the Marathon coast, they knew that
Meritocracy In Dave Egger s The Circle
Character is who you are in the dark. In the book, The Circle, the author Dave
Egger talks about the details of different myths in American society. One of those
myth are meritocracy. Meritocracy is a system that allows people to advance in life
based on their quality of being especificly worthy or good. This means that if a
person demonstrates qualities that are viewed as virtuous in society (merit) . In other
words, they will rise above others in the group. The novelhas some aspect of the story
that touches on the myth of meritocracy. If someone has to convince or threaten
another individual to be honest even though the individual is not truly honest, then
the system of meritocracy becomes a myth . This is the problem with the main

The first day of work she sees how beautiful the campus is and how it is filed with
fun activities. For example, the tennis and volleyball courts, the fountain, the
space of the children from day care center, are all so perfect and beautiful in the
eyes of Mae. When she sees all these wonders, by explaining her point of view, she
makes the reader feel like she is in heaven because this place was beyond her
imagination. She starts to work in the customer service section answering
customer questions and creating reports. Her routine is evaluated and reorganized
after each contact, and her score can rise or fall for all to see. On the first day her
score was the highest. Quickly, she becomes a winner in The Circle. This proves
that when people have determination, anything can be possible. In the same way,
sometimes people have problems, and that they can discourage themselves.
However, Mae proves that when people desire to have positive changes in their
lives, they just need to work hard and find the right people to help them. It might
be difficult at the beginning, however, if people keep working hard they are going
to eventually have positive results. For example, according to the article, Making It
In America author Adam Davidson claims As workers become more productive,
they should be able to demand higher salaries (pag.339). In other words, if people
are available to learn more in their jobs, there will be more chances to be more
successful as they continue to learn. Similar to what happen to Mae in her first of
work: she is rewarded by having the highest score. Analyzing Mae can be used to
demonstrate how easy it is to be sucked into a world of success, where even though
she is successful, it does not mean that she is happy. In other words, success might
mean different things to different people. It creates a

How The English Changed North America Essay
For civilization to evolve, changes must be made. Imagine what the world would
be like if the Natives were just alone and no country migrated to North America.
Would technology even exist? Would the main weapons be just spears and arrows?
Would medicine be invented so people could live long lives without dying of
diseases? These are questions that will never have to be answered because the world
evolved into a much bigger and better place. The English changed North Americano
matter what the cost was. Some may argue that the English are the ones to blame
for King Phillip s War, but that is not the case here. The Indians did not want
change and overall, it did not work out real well for them. In this case, the war was
brutal on both sides. The Natives did not change their customs as much as the
English wanted them to. By not assimilating to European values and customs, the
Natives caused the war over hatred of English values and traditions and made the
world a dangerous place to live in. Daniel Richter was the author of Facing East
from Indian Country and Jill Lepore wrote The Name of War. Lepore made some
very interesting points that will be discussed that can make the Natives look like
savages, but the English were not angels either. King Phillip s War is one of the most
brutal wars in America and there really was not anything good about it. Mistakes
were made and history was changed. Richter took a standpoint that focused on the
English pushing away the
Disney Movies And Gender Messages Essay
Children are the future the next generation that will inherit the earth. And for that
alone families try to instill the proper values into their children in order to teach
them how to govern themselves when they become the deciding generation. This is
done through social messages transmitted to younger generations. But as society s
values change, so too do the social messages. After all, only a few generations ago
the role of homemaker was solely designated to the woman, and the idea of a woman
working side by side by men seemed unfathomable. Now, women are widely
accepted as equals to men. This radical change in how women are viewed can be
partially attributed to the transformation in gendermessages conveyed through various
mediums. And nowhere is this change more evident than in Disney movies, one of
many facets of gender messaging. The messages Disney movies used to convey with
their classic princesses Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and the ones they...

Cinderella is dressed in peasant clothes at first and later a beautiful ball gown, yet
both accentuate her femininity. The peasant clothes are the ones she uses to do
housework in, an activity practically inseparable from the role of a woman back in
the 1950s, and the ball gown is the one that sees her meet her Prince Charming, a
prospect many women back then were expected to undertake. In contrast, Merida
is portrayed in a simple teal gown and cloak more oft than not. While in these
clothes, she practices archery, races her horse, and explores the outdoors. When
depicted in a formal gown, Merida feels stifled and repressed by her mother and
society s expectations of a woman. Additionally, in order to achieve her own
freedom by winning her own hand at archery, she must break the confines of the
gown in order to shoot the arrow. In doing so, Merida breaks her dress and the

Nonetheless, after volunteering at Bremen Head start, I believe this experience
has helped me improve my skills in many ways. Such as, I am now familiar with
working with younger children and how they tend to interact and express their
selves. Second, I used some open and closed questions with Abby to get her to
open up more and sometimes just get right to the point. Third, I improved being
empathetic, it s not always easy trying to help someone else and acknowledge their
feelings. However, I was able to let Abby know I was understanding and sorry
about hearing that her mother had passed away. Lastly, I was able to improve my
engagement as a social worker, by allowing Abby to have a good relationship and be

While interviewing a client, I need to make sure the interview environment is
comfortable and there are no disruptions. My client should feel safe and aware that
only the client and I will hear whatever he/she has to say. Next, I should focus on my
questioning skills. I should know what the right questions to ask are and what are not.
I do not want to ask my client irrelevant questions, when it s not important.
However, good questioning can allow me as a social worker to better understand
the issue that is going on with my client. Lastly, I need to focus on active listening
during an interview. More so, this is a combination of talking and listening. Active

IRS Summary
All charities with donations of $25000 or more must file financial reports annually
with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
These IRS 990 reports are available to the public, however, many donors do not
examine them: a survey and report by Hope Consulting find few donors do any
research prior to giving (Money for Good, May 2010).
In addition, the 990 reports lack guidance for comparing values from year to year or
between charities.
Recent IRS reports indicate a continued need to link donors with pertinent, credible,
and easy to understand information about charities.%

Observation Reflection Of The Millard Public School
Board...
On October 4, I attended the Millard Public School board meeting for my
Government observation analysis. The meeting was held in the Millard West
auditorium. At the meeting I saw lots of parents of kids who were concerned about
their child s education. Unfortunately Millard schools have been doing some budget
cuts to save moneyto pay back all the money they borrowed and to make the schools
better. In the years 2010 11, 44 teachers and administration positions, 7 custodian
positions, and 3 nursing positions have been eliminated. Those positions are on a list
with twelve other budget cuts. Millard Public Schoolboard is already starting a list of
cuts for 2017 18 if they don t make a change. At the meeting I learned about the
following that I want to talk about: budget cuts, ballot ,and who will this ballot affect.
Before we start talking about the ballot and how Millard Public Schoolsare gonna
change in the future we need to talk about the past. The places where things started
to go wrong. When Millard Public Schools started to be created Millard was the
new popular place to move. When building more and more house the property taxes
will grow which will help the schools receive more money. With new houses comes
new families and causes student body growth also helping the schools get money.
Fast forward to 2017, Millard has been around for a while now there are new districts
showing up like Elkhorn and Gretna. With these new districts building that building

Dogs Digestive System
Dogs have a monogastric digestive system similar to that of a human, this means
they have a one compartment stomach. Their gastrointestinal tracts have not
evolved to digest fiber well and can only handle it in smaller amounts. For all
animals digestion begins in the mouth. Each animal has differing dental make ups,
in order to fulfill their dietary needs. So carnivores often have particularly large
canine teeth that are made for ripping apart their prey. With that said, they are
physically digesting food by chewing it into smaller pieces. Also since the food is
infused with saliva, which has enzymes in it, it breaks down even further. Next, the
feed moves through the Esophagus, which is simply a passage to the stomach. Once
in the stomach,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each organ has a specific task that aids in the breaking down of food and absorbing
of nutrients. Starting with the mouth, dogs have saliva, which is mostly water, but
may contain an enzyme that slightly helps called salivary lipase. For the most part
though, saliva mainly moistens the food so that it can travel easily to the stomach.
There, the stomach secretes mucins, hydrochloric acid, and pepsinogen. Mucins
create the protective lining of the stomach and assist in the muscular lining s ability
to mix the digesta. Hydrochloric acid and pepsinogen work together to lower pH,
absorb vitamin B12, digest proteins (such as chicken meal and fish meal). Dietary
fats such as omega 3 fatty acids that are in fish oil would also be absorbed in the
small intestine. Now, at the beginning of the stomach is the duodenum which has
Brunner s glands that protect its lining. Then bile is delivered from the liver to help
digest lipids. The pancreas also plays a role by producing enzymes that are essential
for digesting starch, proteins, lipids, etc. So ultimately, any protein residue from the
two ingredients listed would typically be utilized by this point. Then the last step is
the large intestine which is the main site for water absorption. Certain products
arrive in the large intestine and end up passing through because the large intestine
lacks that ability to absorb it. This is the case for long chain fatty acids, microbial
cells, and B vitamins. Having said that, the end result is waste matter, also known as

Radar The Proliferation Of Location Based Services Essay
Abstract The proliferation of Location Based Services
(LBSs) and Geo Social Networks (GSNs) significantly increase the exposure risks
of location information leading to leakage of sensitive information. Location
privacy preserving methods are designed to provide a specified level of privacy
based on some pre defined privacy guarantees such as k anonymity and e
differential privacy. In certain situations, we note that users would need different
privacy protection levels based on their relationships and trust associated with the
users of the exposed location data. For instance, users of a location based social
network may need a smaller privacy protection level in interaction with their close
friends and a larger privacy protection level in relationship with public users. In this
paper, we present a privacy aware access control model that provides different
location privacy protection levels based on various access control list of users. The
proposed privacy preserving access control model not only preserves the
confidentiality of access control policy but also provides an efficient mechanism for
grant and revoke of authorizations.

Theme Of Silence
The book Silence, by Shusako Endo follows a theme of a silent God who
accompanies a believer in adversity. The main character of the book is Sebastian
Rodrigues. It tells of Sebastian Rodrigues arduous journey halfway around the world
to Japan in the 1630s, in order to track down a rumor that his mentor Father Ferreira
had abandoned his faith, at a time where the Japanese leaders were extremely hostile
to foreigners and Christianityand also suspicious of their intentions. He travels with
two other missionaries but one of them falls sick whilst travelling and is deemed
unfit to carry on to accompany him. The book is not fast paced, but immensely
characterdriven. For example, we see the growth of Sebastian Rodrigues as a priest.

This can be echoed through what Kichijiro says If I was born in another time, I
would have been a good Christian . It is also, in Japan, that Rodrigues indulges in
the dialogue with Inoue. Endo uses an allegory where Inoue deems Japan unfit for
Christianity and encourages him to apostatize, I do not view Christianity as an evil
religion , Inoue says. Furthermore, when Rodrigues encounters Ferreira he echoes
the thoughts of Inoue, he says I have labored in this mission for twenty years ... our
religion does not take root in this country , Kichijiro also refers to himself as a
weak shoot that will never grow no matter what you do . His resolve begins to fade
due to the treatment he receives whilst in captivity, ironically it is when he is well
treated that he feels the most vulnerable to

Counter Terrorism Course Analysis
I learned various forms, perspectives, and policies pertaining to terrorism in this
course. Some of the statistics about counter terrorism, the source of terrorists, and
the background of terrorist were expected. I expected terrorist to come from
unstable homes. I even expected terrorist groups to be led by the upper middle class
because of education and resources availability. The most unexpected information I
learned in this course was how terrorist groups end. The government, as part of the
War on Terror, makes it seem like the military is the most important aspect of ending
a terrorist group. Our nation spends billions of dollars on the multiple branches of the
military. Various resources, funds, time and agencies are utilized in the pursuit of
counter terrorism. Finding out that local policing and change in politics are the two
top ways terrorist groups end was shocking. This was shocking because every time a

Headlines mention keywords like special ops or special forces to describe the group

leader was captured by a team of 6 special forces Navy Seals. Navy Seal Robert J O
Neil being the key figure of headlines after the death of bin Laden. Learning in class
that using military force for counter terrorism is ineffective and could possibly lead
to insurgency was surprising. Due to the media s reports, I, like most Americans,
assumed that the military was most effective before this course. In truth terrorist

Ip Delivery For Fpgas Using Applets And Jhdl
Paper Summary The paper, IP Delivery for FPGAs Using Applets and JHDL ,
describes the use of Java applets in order to provide IP (Intellectual Property)
based FPGA delivery and evaluation. As IP based FPGA approach has significant
advantages such as it improves the productivity/quality, and reduce design time.
FPGA IP uses Java applets that allow designers to create, evaluate, test and obtain
circuits, and that too has to be done within a web browser. Several other
approaches have been introduced, which are similar to JHDL. Those can be
described as follows; Web CAD: It uses client server architecture and transfers
the simulation events across the network Java CAD: This is similar to Web
CAD. It has applets which are described in Java and uses RMI (Remote Method
Invocation) over the internet for simulating and evaluating the circuits. JBits:
This tool does not use the internet to deliver IP cores and delivers pre placed IP
core. It is easily incorporated with online Java applets. In Java based applets, here
JHDL is used as a design environment. It is developed at BYU used for creating
high performance FPGA. JHDL libraries provide the components and wires that are
used to create the instance. The programming language used here is Java and for
simulation and compilation, Java Virtual Machine (JVM) platform is needed. Variety
of design tools it supported, such as Schematic Viewer, allows the designer to
quickly view the structure and hierarchy of a circuit. 

The Fight for Bilingual Education and Women’s Rights
in...
The Civil Rights movement, during the 1960s and 1970s, created many changes for
both American society and its schools. The transformations were the result of such
movements as Bilingual Education, women s rights activity, and the passing of the
Public Law 94 142 legislation. The incorporation of these new laws and ideas into
society all came with their own consequences. Each of them helped, in some way, to
lessen the inequality of minority groupsin America, like students whose primary
languagewas not English, women, and handicapped children. They also faced
opposition by certain groups, who did not feel that their inclusion in American life
was necessary. Those fighting for the minorities, though, were steadfast in their...

The third approach, bilingual education, suggested teaching the student s native
language and English equally.
According to Urban and Wagoner in American Education: A History, advocates of
this last approach sometimes emphasized biculturalism as well and bilingualism
(ibid.).
These attempts were both supported and opposed by various parties.
Those who defended incorporation of bilingual education into American schools
included politicians and other Hispanic leaders, who were trying to prevent
assimilation. Opposers included teachers, Anglo politicians, and some
Hispanic intellectuals , who thought that it was important for the children to
assimilate in to the society (ibid.).
Women s rights activity also became popular in the 1960s, but did not have many
large effects on the schools. Teachers did not want to be involved with the feminists,
and so the activists also distanced themselves from the teachers. The hard work and
determination of the feminists did though, bring about the passing of the Title IX of
the Higher Education Act in 1972 (ibid., 320).
This act instilled gender equality in institutions of higher education, and has played a
monumental role in regulating fairness among the sexes in colleges and universities.

Unmerciful Slave Parable
Unmerciful Slave and Prodigal Son A parable is a story taught by Jesus used to
explain an idea or teach a religious moral. Jesus taught many parables including the
Prodigal Son and the Unmerciful Slave. The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11 31) is
written about two sons who want their inheritance from their father. The father
denies the eldest son, granting all of the property to the youngest son. The youngest
son packs up his belongings and leaves his father s home to live in a distant
country. The youngest son lives a lavish wild, lifestyle while being irresponsible
until his country hits famine. He doesn t return to his father with the thought that he
would disown him. Instead, he works as a swineherd tending pigs in order to make
money. He finally returns home with the intention of becoming a servant and having
an altered relationship with his father. Instead his father welcomes him with open
arms, orders there to be a celebration and forgives him. The older son refuses to
celebrate, but his father tells him one day he will inherit everything and what was
lost is now found. The unmerciful slave or servant (Matthew 18:21 35) is told about

Fahrenheit 451 Theme Essay
Do you know everything happening in our countries? Do you know what is
happening in other countries, on the other sides of the world? Or do you just keep
yourself up to date on the latest gossip among celebrities, like what they wore to an
awards show? It s not your fault. It s a little thing called censorship, which is one of
the main issues analyzed in the dystopian novel, Fahrenheit 451. The specific warning
in the book, which was written by Ray Bradbury, is that, if we aren t willing to learn
new things, we will become afraid of knowledge and the power that comes with it.
This is effectively portrayed, because in the novel, the government has led the the
entire society to believe that books are evil, and that they corrupt people.
The theme that Bradbury succeeded to analyze in his story was the theme of
knowledge equaling power, which threatens people. In the novel, even every day
citizen became afraid of the knowledge, not only because of the government, but
also because for their safety. They believed that if they read these so called books,
the books would trap them, and they would be swept up by their curiosity of
knowing more. They believed this because, as shown in Fahrenheit 451, their
neighbors would get so caught up with books, they would refuse to ... Show more

This is incredibly important to think about, because currently in our world today,
we don t embrace new knowledge. In addition, we don t fight back against the
governments all over the world, who purposefully keep important knowledge from
us. As an example, we don t know a lot of what is happening with ISIS. Yes, we
know where it is located, and what s happening on our side, but we don t know the
future of it. Is this really not a big deal, or could it be the trigger for the third world
war? We don t know the future of our country, and that s a

Octopus s Garden is another standout track on the album. The song has developed
into one of the best known Beatles songs ever. This song was without a doubt,
Ringo s best song writing effort ever. Anyone who can write a song about being in
the garden of an eight legged sea creature should win an award. George s flawless
solo provided excellent cover over the background voices of gurgling water. This
is also in the form of a love song. We would sing and dance around because we

be alone with this person. To finish the song off, Ringo s quote We would be so
happy you and me, No one there to tell us what to do, I d like to be under the sea In
an octopus garden with you makes it clear that he is sending a message out to
someone who he would like to be with undisturbed.
The second to last track is appropriately titled The End . It is not very well known,
but it is an amazing example of rock n roll. Without a doubt, the best part of the
song is Ringo s amazing drum solo. George follows the drum solo with a solo of his
own. And in the end,

The benefits of having a longer lifespan is that the natural increase will get smaller
because the death ratio will rise. If the natural increase rate rises the population
doubling time will become a longer time, therefore the population will eventually
get smaller. Another important aspect of keeping your citizens alive longer is
sanitation. The sanitation of your people is not good compared to the level of the
United States. The percentage of people in the country of Iraq that does not have
access to clean water is 14.6%(CIA) of the entire population. The percentage that do
not have the proper sanitation in Iraq is 14.4%(CIA) which is very high. The
United States people according to the CIA have 100% of their people that can
access proper sanitation and 98.2%(CIA) that can access clean fresh water. This
means that almost в…™ of the population does not have access to water or
sanitation and this is not good. One way to fix this is to set up places that give out
clean water in places that clean water is not common. A series of hospitals could
also be set up to give people access to being examined for health issues especially in
areas that need it most. Education is very important for the future of a country

The number of movies adapted from comic books has, in recent years, become
more and more popular, and more comic book films are being released now than in

potential reasons for the prevalence of comic book adaptations in post 9/11 cinema .
The Dark Knight: Throughout The Dark Knight the terrorist attacks of 9/11 are
continuously mirrored; terrorism as an overall theme is also reflected throughout
the movie, Phillip French of the Guardian newspaper states that The Dark Knight
shows us a post 9/11 Manichaean view of the world . Even within the initial
marketing of the film and in the various viral campaigns employed, we see
reflections of the 9/11 attacks on New York. In one of the main advertising posters
for the movie we see the protagonist Batman standing in the fore ground of the
picture, in front of a huge sky scraping building, not unfamiliar to one of the Twin
Towers, the top of the building is ablaze, with; brick, ash and various pieces of
shrapnel falling to the ground. With this powerful image we, before we have even
seen the movie, receive flashbacks of the tragic events of 9/11. The poster as well
as promoting Batman, makes us subconsciously, maybe naively, want to see the
movie as it is related to the horrible attacks on New York. Again in relation to the 9
/11 attacks, people may want to watch the film to see how terrorism is portrayed in

Drugs Is A Mixed Blessing
The use of drugs is a mixed blessing. On one hand, they could be used for medical
reasons, such as lowering severe pain or depression. These drugs are often
prescribed by a medical professional, and the patient is given the drug in moderate
doses. However, the use of drugs is typically for recreational purposes, which has
negative consequences. Drugs used for recreational purposes are used to alter
physical sensations, consciousness, thoughts, mood, and behaviors and ways that
users believe are desirable (Grison, S., Heatherton, T. F., Gazzaniga, M. S. 2016).
The continued use of drugs for recreational purposes often leads someone to become
addicted. Drug addictionis a rising problem in the United States. With the increase of
drug addiction, drug overdoses and deaths by overdose has increased. The rate of
deaths due to overdoses has increased 137% since 2000 (Rudd, R. A., Aleshire, N.,
Zibbell, J. E., Matthew Gladden, R. 2016). Even though drug overdoses are
increasing and the effects of drugs are known to be negative, people still use drugs
as a way to relax, and do not believe that they will become addicted. In order for a
drug to enter your body, it will need to be ingested, snorted, smoked, or injected.
Once the drug enters the body from one of the processes above, it will be absorbed
into the blood stream. The drug will then be transported throughout the body via the
blood stream. During this trip through the blood stream, the drug will disperse into

Additionally there was photographic evidence entered on the case which had been

So many mistakes were made within the case, John Walsh said in 1997, upon the

Adam s death, and his father s subsequent activism on his behalf, helped put faces on
milk cartons, shopping bags and mailbox fliers, started fingerprinting programs and
increased security at schools and stores. It spurred the creation of missing persons
units at every large police department.
It also prompted national legislation to create a national center, database and toll free
line devoted to missing children, and led to the start of America s Most Wanted,
which brought those cases into millions of homes.
What it also did, said Mount Holyoke College sociologist and criminologist Richard

Sociological Themes In The Film Erin Brockovich
Erin Brockovich (2000) is a film written by Susannah Grant and directed by Steven
Soderbergh. Based on a successful lawsuit by an environmental lawyer of the
same name against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG E) of California,
this film covers a wide range of popular cultural and sociological themes. It
addresses issues such as lack of formal training and opportunity to capable
individuals, stereotyping of women and the struggle for justice which are some of
the most prevalent sociological and pop cultural issues in America. The story is
structured linearly and presents the struggle of the protagonist Erin who is a mother

She is actually a complex character which the filmmakers use to highlight various
concepts of popular and sociological culture. Firstly she is shown to be a woman
who is judged by those around her because of how she looks and how she has a
knack for behaving erratically. She is even judged by the women who she works
with as they consider her nothing short of White Trash because of how she dresses
and because of the mess her personal life is in. Secondly, they construct the concept
of an individual s capability regardless of their gender and class through Erin s
character. She does not have formal training of being a lawyer yet she is able to
understand the technicalities of law based on her own intelligence and capabilities.

professionally aware women occupied clerical and administrative support positions

she proves her mettle as having the potential to become a lawyer by the end of the
The Key Ideas Presented By Poata Smith ( 2004 ) And...
Responsive Reading Assignment Sociology 101
The purpose of this essay is to discuss the key ideas presented in the two articles
written by Poata Smith (2004) and Richard Pringle (2007) and to explore how these
key ideas link to the central themes and discourses introduced throughout the duration
of the course so far. In sight of the word limitations, this essay will attempt to cover
fewer key ideas highlighted within these texts, but in much more detail. Some key
ideas addressed in this essay include neo liberalism, class inequalities, biculturalism,
and in part two hegemonic masculinities, gender order and negative male identities.
At the conclusion of this discussion, I will take the opportunity to reflect on my
personal engagement with the two texts.
Evan Poata Smith (2004) Maori Protest Politics and the Waitangi Settlement Process
In his article, Poata Smith (2004) acknowledges that the Crown alongside the New
Zealand Government, although not responsible for the actions of its predecessors,
has taken steps to accept its obligations to the Treaty of Waitangiand to the Maori
people and to recognise breaches of the treaty principles that it has made (p.59). The
New Zealand Government, in its attempt to settle past treaty grievances surrounding
wrongful confiscation of land has divided Maori society in two: a division between
the Maori working class and the smaller Maori elite. Through neo liberal reforms to
the Treaty of Waitangi settlement process, highly represented
Ban On Immigration Research Paper
A Modest Proposal to Trump Concerning the Ban on Immigration The most recent
news coming from Washington is the immigration bill that Donald Trump has just
signed into effect. This places a ban on immigration for anyone that is a citizen or
naturalized in Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The problem is
that Trump is banning a whole people based upon their country of origin when truly
only a very small majority of the people from there are coming for malicious reasons.
Although Trump s administration has tried to understate the importance of this act by
addressing it as a, temporary pause , citizens of these seven countries have had their
lives in America come to a screeching halt (Kennedy, Merit. NPR.org). The United
Stateswas built on the hard work and desperation of... Show more content on

There is a present disdain for the United States in those countries however this is an
even larger reason why this ban is simply idiotic. This will increase tensions and push
these countries to develop substantial contempt for the American people. Just because
someone said they did not like the way you built your sandcastle does not mean you
have to go and destroy theirs just to prove that yours is better. Educate them. Show
them that this way is beneficial. Or ignore them and prove them wrong through
continued success and kindness.
I nominate that we lift the ban and instead make contact with the citizens of those
countries to help ease tensions and create an atmosphere of tolerance. I have been
told that I am very good with crafts so I propose that we make goodie bags. Like
really good ones. They will be filled with objects and miscellaneous gifts that are
proven to put people in good moods. To further the value of these gift I have
consulted an expert in chocolate and sweets, my mother Jan. She recites, through her
decades of experience and experimental endeavors, that
Religion and the Northern Rebellion of 1568 Essay
Religion and the Northern Rebellion of 1568
At the time of the Northern Rebellion in 1568, the North of England was greatly
aggrieved. When Elizabeth had ascended to the throne she appointed loyal men to her
throne, usually Protestants like William Cecil at the expense of the Northern Earls.
This subtraction of power of course angered the Northern Earls, but was the Northern
Rebellion just down to this? Religion played a huge part in the daily lives of most
people in the 16th century and with the majority of the North retaining Catholicism
whilst Elizabeth slowly introduced Protestantism, surely this would cause further
conflict.
To an extent we can see evidence that the Northern rebellion was ... Show more

At this stage the rebellion seemed very religious as the rebels showed their loyalty to
Catholicism.
The Northern rebels had tried to gain further religious support from the pope and also
hoped for Spanish support. They requested the pope excommunicated Elizabeth so
anyone who was afraid to join in the rebellion could do so with the knowledge that
they would still go to heaven. However the papal bull of excommunication came too
late for the Northern Earls, only after the rebellion had been quashed. Also there was
the suggestion that Spanish support was on its way, however this statement was
found to be false. Phillip II didn t have any enthusiasm for putting Mary Stuart on the
throne largely due to her connections with France.
Although initially the Northern rebellion seemed to be down to religious
disagreements, there is evidence to suggest this is not the only reason the Northern
Earls wanted Mary to take over Elizabeth s position on the throne. During the Tudor
period the Northern Earls powers had been significantly reduced, this angered them
immensely; two of the leading northern families, the Percy s and the Neville s were
slowly becoming powerless and even falling into poverty. With such successful
ancestors, the Earls of Northumberland and Westmorland were not willing to let their
Zipcar
Porter s five forces applied to Zipcar
Threat of new entrants:
Potential new entrants include existing car rental firms, companies that currently
supply cars to car sharing businesses (such as Volkswagen), and new start up car
sharing ventures. As Zipcar is operating in only Boston, there are opportunities for
new entrants (with sufficient resources) to establish themselves as dominant car
sharing service providers in other cities. This threat to the profitability of Zipcar s
planned future expansion activities would pressure Zipcar to expand rapidly in
order to remain ahead of the competition. A major barrier to entry is Zipcar s
patented technology involving wireless transmission of usage data between the
shared cars and a server. New ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such advertising techniques have generated a lot of publicity for Zipcar, enabling the
company to build brand recognition and attract customers without incurring huge
marketing costs.
Services are convenient because reserved cars are parked within short walking
distance from user locations and public transport stations. In addition, reservations
can be made online or over the phone at any time.
Zipcar has invested heavily in developing a patented technology platform that can
be used only by the company. Each driver is given a unique Zipcar card that can
unlock the car door at the specific time for which the subscriber has booked. The
driver need only be concerned with unlocking the car and driving. While the car is in
use, usage data is transferred (real time) wirelessly to Zipcar s head office. Data is

recorded and stored to ensure correct billing. The data collection and billing
processes are timely, accurate and hassle free, contributing to the ease and efficiency
of Zipcar s business operations. Furthermore, the reduction in manual recording (and
therefore the use of paper) has reinforced Zipcar s green image.

Recommendations
The minimum age for Zipcar drivers could be lowered to 18 years old. Zipcar would
be able to attract more subscribers and earn more revenue. Provided that the
company s incident record regulations remain in place, most 18 year old drivers
would be responsible and reliable. If there is doubt,
How Culture Helps Drive Business Results Within Facebook
With the exponential changes in technology and continued evolutions to business,
businesses exist today that we had no idea would be possible just a short time ago.
The relatively new companies are found in the industry of Internet Information
Providers and Social Media. These businesses are challenged on how they could
possibly drive revenue and if growth was sustainable. Facebook and Twitter combine
for a current market cap of 320 billion dollars. Proving thus far, that the industry has
been successful. To get a better understanding and help compare the two companies, I
will look at how culture helps drive business results within Facebook and Twitter.
Then I will go on to discuss the operating performances of the two companies....

The act to bring employees over to a new location for the sole purpose of setting up
the culture shows how much emphasis Facebook puts on culture. Another practice
that Facebook uses to help define culture is to let employees have a say in the
culture. They do this for example, by letting the employees paint the office walls
at new locations and help give specific names to the conference rooms. These
practices allow the employees to literally create the culture and build a sense of
ownership (Facebook Innovated Company Culture). A final major point of
emphasis to the Facebook culture is that there is no hierarchy within the
organization. This helps to promote the sharing of ideas from all individuals. The
overall summary of the Facebook culture shows that it is a fun fast paced
organization developed to draw the most out of creative young minds. Twitters
culture has many of the same points of Facebook in regards to a fun fast paced
atmosphere devoted to the younger generation of work force. However, twitter does
have a few differences as well. Twitter was voted the number one culture and work
place environment by its employees in a 2014 poll by glassdoor.com (Twitter Tops
all In Culture). Some of the reasons that this might be true are that employees receive
benefits such as unlimited vacations, yoga while at work and free meals (twitter Tops
all in culture). Many of these amenities that other Fortune 500 companies would
deem cost
American Dream And Anaerobic Digesters
Sixty thousand pounds of wet manure is produced each day by the five thousand
cows that are located on the George DeRuyter and Sons dairy farm in Outlook
Washington (Bonneville). You might be thinking that s a lot of crap , well you re
right! The positive to all this crap is that something can be done with it. Anaerobic
Digestionis a biological method when microorganism hydrolyze break down waste
material when there is no oxygen present (American 1). Anaerobic digesters can take
animal wastes, such as cow manure, and through a process break the waste down into
organic molecules that can be further hydrolyzed and used as an energy source. If
further steps are taken such as, removing carbon dioxide, nitrogen and oxygen from
the substance then... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The World is Flat Freidman states that, a lot of new middle jobs will involve
collaborating with others or orchestrating collaboration within and between
companies (285). These jobs are needed in a globalized world because it is no
longer one company completing every part of their business. Companies are now
plural meaning that there might be one for management, one for research and
design, one for marketing and one for security (Freidman 287). Each branch might
also be located in different parts of the world. Each company and employee needs
to be able to work with other counterparts effectively to have well run systems.
Specifically with anaerobic digesters dairy farms are going to have to work with
science engineers, power companies, crop growers and the community. There is
another collaboration that can occur between dairy farms with digesters, this is
between these farms and businesses that process foods or waste treatment plants.
Colorado State University wrote that these collaborations can, be beneficial by both
decreasing waste solids content and increasing methane production capacity
(Sharvelle 3). The collaboration between the different companies allows more waste
to be removed and clean energy production to increase. This energy will have the
same benefits that were listed previously, especially eliminating
The Environmental Protection Agency ( Epa ) Essay
During and since World War II the United States has produced millions of tons of
toxic wastes during the manufacturing and processing of products. These hazards
were often left abandoned and no one really paid attention to their effect on our
environment. In the 1980s Congress established a Superfund Program. It was left for
the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to administer the superfundprogram, to
find these hazardous sites, investigate and determine the worst ones, and then
clean up those sites across the United States. Over 15,000 sites were identified and
1,400 were named to the National Priorities List (NPL). One of the towns was
Picher Oklahoma named in the Tar Creek Superfund Site. Picher and the
neighboring towns covering over a 50 square mile area became known as the Tar
Creek Superfund Site and were officially put on the NPL on 8 September 1983 (
challenge posed to children s health by mixtures of toxic waste: the Tar Creek
Superfund Site as a case study, n.d.). All of the information was finally out. The
hazards were known. It was time for the clean up to begin. Where do you begin
when a problem is this large? The Environmental Protection Agency was tasked to
take the leadin the clean up. It was easy to identify the hazards: contaminated water,
contaminated soil, possible area collapse, and the lead laced chat piles. To begin the
Superfund site cleanup the EPA started with monitoring of the surface water, acid
mine water discharge, and
Figurative Language In Casey At Bat
Written by Ernest Lawrence Thayer in 1887, Casey at Bat is a narrative American
poem and story, telling of a baseball s game s final half inning between the home
team Mudville, and another team. The poem has a main character named Mighty
Casey, the team s star hitter. Ultimately, Casey loses the game for his Mudville team
at the end of the poem because he strikes out. Casey at the Bats theme is baseball with
its tone being both exciting and suspenseful. Its tone also begins calmly, getting eager
towards the middle, and then disappointing at the end. The purpose of this paper is to
identify three figurative languages used throughout the poem. The three figurative
languages that will be defined is metaphor, personification, and hyperbole.
Metaphor
Metaphors are considered to be one of the most important forms of figurative
languages used in everyday speech, prose, fiction, and poetry. According to the
American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, a metaphor is a figure of
speech in which a word or phrase that ordinarily designates one thing is used to
designate another, thus making an implicit comparison (Van Engen, 2008).
Metaphors are used to enhance imagination of the reader when reading stories and
poems. Metaphors make imaginative comparisons between two completely different
objects; one object said to be another. For instance, in the poem Casey at the Bat, the
author uses a metaphor to compare players to objects by stating the players are those

Gantt Chart
Henry Gantt s legacy to production management is the following: * The Gantt chart:
Still accepted as an important management tool today, it provides a graphic schedule
for the planning and controlling of work, and recording progress towards stages of a
project. The chart has a modern variation, Program Evaluation and Review Technique
(PERT). * Industrial Efficiency: Industrial efficiency can only be produced by the
application of scientific analysis to all aspects of the work in progress. The industrial
managementrole is to improve the system by eliminating chance and accidents.[6] *
The Task And Bonus System: He linked the bonus paid to managers to how well they
taught their employees to improve performance. * The social... Show more content on

Each row of the chart corresponds to an individual machine or operator. These charts
do not indicate which tasks were to be done, however.
A novel method of displaying interdependencies of processes to increase visibility
of production schedules was invented in 1896 by Karol Adamiecki, which was
similar to the one defined by Gantt in 1903. However, Adamiecki did not publish his
works in a language popular in the West; hence Gantt was able to popularize a similar
method, which he developed around the years 1910 1915, and the solution became
attributed to Gantt. With minor modifications, what originated as the Adamiecki s
chart is now more commonly referred to as the Gantt Chart.[11][12]
Gantt Chart
A Gantt chart is a type of bar chart, developed by Henry Gantt in the 1910s, that
illustrates a project schedule. Gantt charts illustrate the start and finish dates of the
terminal elements and summary elements of a project. Terminal elements and
summary elements comprise the work breakdown structure of the project. Some
Gantt charts also show the dependency (i.e. precedence network) relationships
between activities. Gantt charts can be used to show current schedule status using
percent complete shadings and a vertical TODAY line as shown here.
Histrory:
The first known tool of this type was developed in 1896 by Karol Adamiecki, who
called it a harmonogram. Adamiecki published his chart in 1931, however, only in
Polish, which limited both its adoption and

Casual Essay. What is a casual analysis essay

  • 1. Casual Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "Casual Essay" is a task that may initially seem deceptively easy due to its seemingly informal nature. However, crafting a coherent and engaging piece within this genre presents its own set of challenges. Firstly, the term "casual essay" itself is somewhat ambiguous, leaving room for interpretation. It could imply a relaxed, conversational tone, but determining the appropriate level of informality without veering into unprofessionalism can be tricky. Additionally, maintaining a balance between informality and substance is crucial. While the casual essay may allow for personal anecdotes, humor, and colloquial language, it still requires a clear thesis, logical structure, and supporting evidence or examples to effectively convey ideas. Moreover, the informal nature of this type of essay can make it challenging to strike the right chord with the audience. Ensuring that the writing remains engaging without becoming overly flippant or disjointed requires a keen awareness of tone and audience expectations. Furthermore, the casual essay presents the challenge of navigating the fine line between being too informal and too formal. Straying too far in either direction can detract from the overall impact of the essay and diminish its effectiveness in communicating ideas effectively. In conclusion, while the casual essay may appear straightforward at first glance, it actually demands a delicate balance of informality and structure, as well as a nuanced understanding of tone and audience. Crafting such an essay requires careful consideration and skill to achieve the desired effect. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net. Casual Essay Casual Essay
  • 2. The Dual Nature Of Evil In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Robert Louis Stevenson s archetypal novel, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is one which explores the many different aspects of evil in a variety of ways. Stevenson tells the tale of an eminent Victorian doctor Henry Jekyll who pushes the boundaries of science in order to separate the darker side of his character which is innate in all of us to form a being which he can use to indulge his more immoral pleasures yet, still leaving his reputation untarnished. However, he fails to notice the dire consequences of his actions on himself and those around him, which eventually lead to his demise. Through Stevenson s characterisation of both Jekyll and Hyde we can explore the duality of man and how we recognise evil within society. Whereas his use of setting and imagery allows the theme of concealment and the hypocritical nature of evil to be explored. Society s interpretation of such... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stevenson clearly aims that the reader should be conscious towards the fact that we all possess both good and evil aspects within our characters and that it is up to us which one we act upon. But also to be aware of the fact that should we choose to release our inner Hyde he will grow increasingly greater in power and become intensely difficult to control eventually overpowering our soul and possibly resulting in our untimely deaths. But also we should be aware that prominent figures in society such as members of governments and respected celebrities may too be contaminated by evil behind closed doors. Overall, Robert Louis Stevenson s novel , The Strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is one which explores the theme of evil and deepens the readers understanding of the nature of
  • 3. The Battle Of Marathon And Salamis Nico Poalillo 9/11/14 The Battle of Marathon and The Battle of Salamis The Battles of Marathon and Salamis each play an extremely important in early Greek History for many reasons. They were not only battles in which the Greeks showed their military prowess, but they were both battles which if lost, the future of Greece would most likely have been changed forever. On this day, September 11th in the year 490 BC, off of the Eastern Coast of Greece, a fleet of ships was amassing in the distance headed towards the beach of Marathon. A massive fleet of 600 ships filled to the brim with Persian invaders, their goal was to invade and occupy the city of Athens, which would have given them an extremely vital mainland base in the center of early Greece. The Persian army consisted of 30,000 highly skilled troops from all over the Persian Empire; the Greeks had about 11,000 troops. The Persians had horsemen from East Asia and archers from India, where the Greeks only had their high armored foot soldiers who had seen very little battles in their lives. At the time Athens was the most influential city because it had adopted the early Greek way of governing called Democracy. Athens had exiled its king and moved into a democratic society, which seemed to make a lot more people happy, they were really starting to embrace the Greek mentality of self rule and the power of the individual. When the Greek army got wind of the impending Persian invasion via the Marathon coast, they knew that

One of those myth are meritocracy. Meritocracy is a system that allows people to advance in life based on their quality of being especificly worthy or good. This means that if a person demonstrates qualities that are viewed as virtuous in society (merit) . In other words, they will rise above others in the group. The novelhas some aspect of the story that touches on the myth of meritocracy. If someone has to convince or threaten another individual to be honest even though the individual is not truly honest, then the system of meritocracy becomes a myth . For example, the tennis and volleyball courts, the fountain, the space of the children from day care center, are all so perfect and beautiful in the eyes of Mae. When she sees all these wonders, by explaining her point of view, she makes the reader feel like she is in heaven because this place was beyond her imagination. She starts to work in the customer service section answering customer questions and creating reports. Her routine is evaluated and reorganized after each contact, and her score can rise or fall for all to see. On the first day her score was the highest. Quickly, she becomes a winner in The Circle. This proves that when people have determination, anything can be possible. In the same way, sometimes people have problems, and that they can discourage themselves. However, Mae proves that when people desire to have positive changes in their lives, they just need to work hard and find the right people to help them. It might be difficult at the beginning, however, if people keep working hard they are going to eventually have positive results. For example, according to the article, Making It In America author Adam Davidson claims As workers become more productive, they should be able to demand higher salaries (pag.339). In other words, if people are available to learn more in their jobs, there will be more chances to be more successful as they continue to learn. Similar to what happen to Mae in her first of work: she is rewarded by having the highest score. Analyzing Mae can be used to demonstrate how easy it is to be sucked into a world of success, where even though she is successful, it does not mean that she is happy. In other words, success might mean different things to different people. It creates a

  • 6. How The English Changed North America Essay For civilization to evolve, changes must be made. Imagine what the world would be like if the Natives were just alone and no country migrated to North America. Would technology even exist? Would the main weapons be just spears and arrows? Would medicine be invented so people could live long lives without dying of diseases? These are questions that will never have to be answered because the world evolved into a much bigger and better place. The English changed North Americano matter what the cost was. Some may argue that the English are the ones to blame for King Phillip s War, but that is not the case here. The Indians did not want change and overall, it did not work out real well for them. In this case, the war was brutal on both sides. The Natives did not change their customs as much as the English wanted them to. By not assimilating to European values and customs, the Natives caused the war over hatred of English values and traditions and made the world a dangerous place to live in. Daniel Richter was the author of Facing East from Indian Country and Jill Lepore wrote The Name of War. Lepore made some very interesting points that will be discussed that can make the Natives look like savages, but the English were not angels either. King Phillip s War is one of the most brutal wars in America and there really was not anything good about it. Mistakes were made and history was changed. Richter took a standpoint that focused on the English pushing away the
  • 7. Disney Movies And Gender Messages Essay Children are the future the next generation that will inherit the earth. And for that alone families try to instill the proper values into their children in order to teach them how to govern themselves when they become the deciding generation. This is done through social messages transmitted to younger generations. But as society s values change, so too do the social messages. After all, only a few generations ago the role of homemaker was solely designated to the woman, and the idea of a woman working side by side by men seemed unfathomable. Now, women are widely accepted as equals to men. This radical change in how women are viewed can be partially attributed to the transformation in gendermessages conveyed through various mediums. And nowhere is this change more evident than in Disney movies, one of many facets of gender messaging. The messages Disney movies used to convey with their classic princesses Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and the ones they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The peasant clothes are the ones she uses to do housework in, an activity practically inseparable from the role of a woman back in the 1950s, and the ball gown is the one that sees her meet her Prince Charming, a prospect many women back then were expected to undertake. In contrast, Merida is portrayed in a simple teal gown and cloak more oft than not. While in these clothes, she practices archery, races her horse, and explores the outdoors. When depicted in a formal gown, Merida feels stifled and repressed by her mother and society s expectations of a woman. Additionally, in order to achieve her own freedom by winning her own hand at archery, she must break the confines of the gown in order to shoot the arrow. In doing so, Merida breaks her dress and the stereotype that women are delicate

Nonetheless, after volunteering at Bremen Head start, I believe this experience has helped me improve my skills in many ways. Such as, I am now familiar with working with younger children and how they tend to interact and express their selves. Second, I used some open and closed questions with Abby to get her to open up more and sometimes just get right to the point. Third, I improved being empathetic, it s not always easy trying to help someone else and acknowledge their feelings. • 10. Observation Reflection Of The Millard Public School Board... On October 4, I attended the Millard Public School board meeting for my Government observation analysis. The meeting was held in the Millard West auditorium. At the meeting I saw lots of parents of kids who were concerned about their child s education. Unfortunately Millard schools have been doing some budget cuts to save moneyto pay back all the money they borrowed and to make the schools better. In the years 2010 11, 44 teachers and administration positions, 7 custodian positions, and 3 nursing positions have been eliminated. Those positions are on a list with twelve other budget cuts. Millard Public Schoolboard is already starting a list of cuts for 2017 18 if they don t make a change. At the meeting I learned about the following that I want to talk about: budget cuts, ballot ,and who will this ballot affect. Before we start talking about the ballot and how Millard Public Schoolsare gonna change in the future we need to talk about the past. The places where things started to go wrong. When Millard Public Schools started to be created Millard was the new popular place to move. When building more and more house the property taxes will grow which will help the schools receive more money. With new houses comes new families and causes student body growth also helping the schools get money. Fast forward to 2017, Millard has been around for a while now there are new districts showing up like Elkhorn and Gretna. With these new districts building that building process has
  • 11. Dogs Digestive System Dogs have a monogastric digestive system similar to that of a human, this means they have a one compartment stomach. Their gastrointestinal tracts have not evolved to digest fiber well and can only handle it in smaller amounts. For all animals digestion begins in the mouth. Each animal has differing dental make ups, in order to fulfill their dietary needs. So carnivores often have particularly large canine teeth that are made for ripping apart their prey. With that said, they are physically digesting food by chewing it into smaller pieces. Also since the food is infused with saliva, which has enzymes in it, it breaks down even further. Next, the feed moves through the Esophagus, which is simply a passage to the stomach. Once in the stomach,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each organ has a specific task that aids in the breaking down of food and absorbing of nutrients. Starting with the mouth, dogs have saliva, which is mostly water, but may contain an enzyme that slightly helps called salivary lipase. For the most part though, saliva mainly moistens the food so that it can travel easily to the stomach. There, the stomach secretes mucins, hydrochloric acid, and pepsinogen. Mucins create the protective lining of the stomach and assist in the muscular lining s ability to mix the digesta. Hydrochloric acid and pepsinogen work together to lower pH, absorb vitamin B12, digest proteins (such as chicken meal and fish meal). Dietary fats such as omega 3 fatty acids that are in fish oil would also be absorbed in the small intestine. Now, at the beginning of the stomach is the duodenum which has Brunner s glands that protect its lining. Then bile is delivered from the liver to help digest lipids. The pancreas also plays a role by producing enzymes that are essential for digesting starch, proteins, lipids, etc. So ultimately, any protein residue from the two ingredients listed would typically be utilized by this point. Then the last step is the large intestine which is the main site for water absorption. Certain products arrive in the large intestine and end up passing through because the large intestine lacks that ability to absorb it. This is the case for long chain fatty acids, microbial cells, and B vitamins. Having said that, the end result is waste matter, also known as

Radar The Proliferation Of Location Based Services Essay Abstract The proliferation of Location Based Services (LBSs) and Geo Social Networks (GSNs) significantly increase the exposure risks of location information leading to leakage of sensitive information. Location privacy preserving methods are designed to provide a specified level of privacy based on some pre defined privacy guarantees such as k anonymity and e differential privacy. In certain situations, we note that users would need different privacy protection levels based on their relationships and trust associated with the users of the exposed location data. For instance, users of a location based social network may need a smaller privacy protection level in interaction with their close friends and a larger privacy protection level in relationship with public users. In this paper, we present a privacy aware access control model that provides different location privacy protection levels based on various access control list of users. The proposed privacy preserving access control model not only preserves the confidentiality of access control policy but also provides an efficient mechanism for grant and revoke of authorizations. • 15. Theme Of Silence The book Silence, by Shusako Endo follows a theme of a silent God who accompanies a believer in adversity. The main character of the book is Sebastian Rodrigues. It tells of Sebastian Rodrigues arduous journey halfway around the world to Japan in the 1630s, in order to track down a rumor that his mentor Father Ferreira had abandoned his faith, at a time where the Japanese leaders were extremely hostile to foreigners and Christianityand also suspicious of their intentions. He travels with two other missionaries but one of them falls sick whilst travelling and is deemed unfit to carry on to accompany him. The book is not fast paced, but immensely characterdriven. For example, we see the growth of Sebastian Rodrigues as a priest. At one point he labels Kichijiro a coward. Was it possible that he was of our faith this wretch. Here we see him being judgmental. Furthermore, when Rodrigues encounters Ferreira he echoes the thoughts of Inoue, he says I have labored in this mission for twenty years ... our religion does not take root in this country , Kichijiro also refers to himself as a weak shoot that will never grow no matter what you do . His resolve begins to fade due to the treatment he receives whilst in captivity, ironically it is when he is well treated that he feels the most vulnerable to

Some of the statistics about counter terrorism, the source of terrorists, and the background of terrorist were expected. I expected terrorist to come from unstable homes. I even expected terrorist groups to be led by the upper middle class because of education and resources availability. The most unexpected information I learned in this course was how terrorist groups end. The government, as part of the War on Terror, makes it seem like the military is the most important aspect of ending a terrorist group. Our nation spends billions of dollars on the multiple branches of the military. Various resources, funds, time and agencies are utilized in the pursuit of counter terrorism. Ip Delivery For Fpgas Using Applets And Jhdl Paper Summary The paper, IP Delivery for FPGAs Using Applets and JHDL , describes the use of Java applets in order to provide IP (Intellectual Property) based FPGA delivery and evaluation. As IP based FPGA approach has significant advantages such as it improves the productivity/quality, and reduce design time. FPGA IP uses Java applets that allow designers to create, evaluate, test and obtain circuits, and that too has to be done within a web browser. Several other approaches have been introduced, which are similar to JHDL. Those can be described as follows; Web CAD: It uses client server architecture and transfers the simulation events across the network Java CAD: This is similar to Web CAD. It has applets which are described in Java and uses RMI (Remote Method Invocation) over the internet for simulating and evaluating the circuits. JBits: This tool does not use the internet to deliver IP cores and delivers pre placed IP core. It is easily incorporated with online Java applets. In Java based applets, here JHDL is used as a design environment. It is developed at BYU used for creating high performance FPGA. JHDL libraries provide the components and wires that are used to create the instance. The programming language used here is Java and for simulation and compilation, Java Virtual Machine (JVM) platform is needed. Variety of design tools it supported, such as Schematic Viewer, allows the designer to quickly view the structure and hierarchy of a circuit. 

The transformations were the result of such movements as Bilingual Education, women s rights activity, and the passing of the Public Law 94 142 legislation. The incorporation of these new laws and ideas into society all came with their own consequences. Each of them helped, in some way, to lessen the inequality of minority groupsin America, like students whose primary languagewas not English, women, and handicapped children. According to Urban and Wagoner in American Education: A History, advocates of this last approach sometimes emphasized biculturalism as well and bilingualism (ibid.). These attempts were both supported and opposed by various parties. Those who defended incorporation of bilingual education into American schools included politicians and other Hispanic leaders, who were trying to prevent assimilation. Opposers included teachers, Anglo politicians, and some Hispanic intellectuals , who thought that it was important for the children to assimilate in to the society (ibid.). Women s rights activity also became popular in the 1960s, but did not have many large effects on the schools. Teachers did not want to be involved with the feminists, and so the activists also distanced themselves from the teachers. The hard work and determination of the feminists did though, bring about the passing of the Title IX of the Higher Education Act in 1972 (ibid., 320). This act instilled gender equality in institutions of higher education, and has played a monumental role in regulating fairness among the sexes in colleges and universities. The Title IX

Or do you just keep yourself up to date on the latest gossip among celebrities, like what they wore to an awards show? It s not your fault. It s a little thing called censorship, which is one of the main issues analyzed in the dystopian novel, Fahrenheit 451. The specific warning in the book, which was written by Ray Bradbury, is that, if we aren t willing to learn new things, we will become afraid of knowledge and the power that comes with it. This is effectively portrayed, because in the novel, the government has led the the entire society to believe that books are evil, and that they corrupt people. The theme that Bradbury succeeded to analyze in his story was the theme of knowledge equaling power, which threatens people. In the novel, even every day citizen became afraid of the knowledge, not only because of the government, but also because for their safety. Drugs used for recreational purposes are used to alter physical sensations, consciousness, thoughts, mood, and behaviors and ways that users believe are desirable (Grison, S., Heatherton, T. F., Gazzaniga, M. S. 2016). The continued use of drugs for recreational purposes often leads someone to become addicted. Drug addictionis a rising problem in the United States. With the increase of drug addiction, drug overdoses and deaths by overdose has increased. The rate of deaths due to overdoses has increased 137% since 2000 (Rudd, R. A., Aleshire, N., Zibbell, J. E., Matthew Gladden, R. 2016). Even though drug overdoses are increasing and the effects of drugs are known to be negative, people still use drugs as a way to relax, and do not believe that they will become addicted. In order for a drug to enter your body, it will need to be ingested, snorted, smoked, or injected. Once the drug enters the body from one of the processes above, it will be absorbed into the blood stream. The drug will then be transported throughout the body via the blood stream. During this trip through the blood stream, the drug will disperse into tissues and

That evidence would later be challenged by John Bradley himself, who would change his original statement and reveal that there was only one reference found in the computer related to the search of chloroform. Adam s death, and his father s subsequent activism on his behalf, helped put faces on milk cartons, shopping bags and mailbox fliers, started fingerprinting programs and increased security at schools and stores. It spurred the creation of missing persons units at every large police department. It also prompted national legislation to create a national center, database and toll free line devoted to missing children, and led to the start of America s Most Wanted, which brought those cases into millions of homes. Based on a successful lawsuit by an environmental lawyer of the same name against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG E) of California, this film covers a wide range of popular cultural and sociological themes. It addresses issues such as lack of formal training and opportunity to capable individuals, stereotyping of women and the struggle for justice which are some of the most prevalent sociological and pop cultural issues in America. She is even judged by the women who she works with as they consider her nothing short of White Trash because of how she dresses and because of the mess her personal life is in. Secondly, they construct the concept of an individual s capability regardless of their gender and class through Erin s character. She does not have formal training of being a lawyer yet she is able to understand the technicalities of law based on her own intelligence and capabilities. In sight of the word limitations, this essay will attempt to cover fewer key ideas highlighted within these texts, but in much more detail. The problem is that Trump is banning a whole people based upon their country of origin when truly only a very small majority of the people from there are coming for malicious reasons. When Elizabeth had ascended to the throne she appointed loyal men to her throne, usually Protestants like William Cecil at the expense of the Northern Earls. This subtraction of power of course angered the Northern Earls, but was the Northern Rebellion just down to this? At this stage the rebellion seemed very religious as the rebels showed their loyalty to Catholicism. The Northern rebels had tried to gain further religious support from the pope and also hoped for Spanish support. They requested the pope excommunicated Elizabeth so anyone who was afraid to join in the rebellion could do so with the knowledge that they would still go to heaven. However the papal bull of excommunication came too late for the Northern Earls, only after the rebellion had been quashed. Also there was the suggestion that Spanish support was on its way, however this statement was found to be false. Phillip II didn t have any enthusiasm for putting Mary Stuart on the throne largely due to her connections with France. Although initially the Northern rebellion seemed to be down to religious disagreements, there is evidence to suggest this is not the only reason the Northern Earls wanted Mary to take over Elizabeth s position on the throne. During the Tudor period the Northern Earls powers had been significantly reduced, this angered them immensely; two of the leading northern families, the Percy s and the Neville s were slowly becoming powerless and even falling into poverty. With such successful ancestors, the Earls of Northumberland and Westmorland were not willing to let their

How Culture Helps Drive Business Results Within Facebook With the exponential changes in technology and continued evolutions to business, businesses exist today that we had no idea would be possible just a short time ago. The relatively new companies are found in the industry of Internet Information Providers and Social Media. These businesses are challenged on how they could possibly drive revenue and if growth was sustainable. Facebook and Twitter combine for a current market cap of 320 billion dollars. Proving thus far, that the industry has been successful. To get a better understanding and help compare the two companies, I will look at how culture helps drive business results within Facebook and Twitter. Then I will go on to discuss the operating performances of the two companies.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The act to bring employees over to a new location for the sole purpose of setting up the culture shows how much emphasis Facebook puts on culture. Another practice that Facebook uses to help define culture is to let employees have a say in the culture. They do this for example, by letting the employees paint the office walls at new locations and help give specific names to the conference rooms. These practices allow the employees to literally create the culture and build a sense of ownership (Facebook Innovated Company Culture). A final major point of emphasis to the Facebook culture is that there is no hierarchy within the organization. This helps to promote the sharing of ideas from all individuals. The overall summary of the Facebook culture shows that it is a fun fast paced organization developed to draw the most out of creative young minds. Twitters culture has many of the same points of Facebook in regards to a fun fast paced atmosphere devoted to the younger generation of work force. However, twitter does have a few differences as well. Twitter was voted the number one culture and work place environment by its employees in a 2014 poll by glassdoor.com (Twitter Tops all In Culture). Some of the reasons that this might be true are that employees receive benefits such as unlimited vacations, yoga while at work and free meals (twitter Tops all in culture). Companies are now plural meaning that there might be one for management, one for research and design, one for marketing and one for security (Freidman 287). Each branch might also be located in different parts of the world. Each company and employee needs to be able to work with other counterparts effectively to have well run systems. Specifically with anaerobic digesters dairy farms are going to have to work with science engineers, power companies, crop growers and the community. There is another collaboration that can occur between dairy farms with digesters, this is between these farms and businesses that process foods or waste treatment plants. Colorado State University wrote that these collaborations can, be beneficial by both decreasing waste solids content and increasing methane production capacity (Sharvelle 3). The collaboration between the different companies allows more waste to be removed and clean energy production to increase. This energy will have the same benefits that were listed previously, especially eliminating

The Environmental Protection Agency ( Epa ) Essay During and since World War II the United States has produced millions of tons of toxic wastes during the manufacturing and processing of products. These hazards were often left abandoned and no one really paid attention to their effect on our environment. In the 1980s Congress established a Superfund Program. It was left for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to administer the superfundprogram, to find these hazardous sites, investigate and determine the worst ones, and then clean up those sites across the United States. Over 15,000 sites were identified and 1,400 were named to the National Priorities List (NPL). One of the towns was Picher Oklahoma named in the Tar Creek Superfund Site. Picher and the neighboring towns covering over a 50 square mile area became known as the Tar Creek Superfund Site and were officially put on the NPL on 8 September 1983 ( challenge posed to children s health by mixtures of toxic waste: the Tar Creek Superfund Site as a case study, n.d.). All of the information was finally out. The hazards were known. It was time for the clean up to begin. Where do you begin when a problem is this large? The Environmental Protection Agency was tasked to take the leadin the clean up. It was easy to identify the hazards: contaminated water, contaminated soil, possible area collapse, and the lead laced chat piles. To begin the Superfund site cleanup the EPA started with monitoring of the surface water, acid mine water discharge, and

Figurative Language In Casey At Bat Written by Ernest Lawrence Thayer in 1887, Casey at Bat is a narrative American poem and story, telling of a baseball s game s final half inning between the home team Mudville, and another team. The poem has a main character named Mighty Casey, the team s star hitter. Ultimately, Casey loses the game for his Mudville team at the end of the poem because he strikes out. Casey at the Bats theme is baseball with its tone being both exciting and suspenseful. Its tone also begins calmly, getting eager towards the middle, and then disappointing at the end. The purpose of this paper is to identify three figurative languages used throughout the poem. The three figurative languages that will be defined is metaphor, personification, and hyperbole. Metaphor Metaphors are considered to be one of the most important forms of figurative languages used in everyday speech, prose, fiction, and poetry. According to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, a metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase that ordinarily designates one thing is used to designate another, thus making an implicit comparison (Van Engen, 2008). Metaphors are used to enhance imagination of the reader when reading stories and poems. Metaphors make imaginative comparisons between two completely different objects; one object said to be another. For instance, in the poem Casey at the Bat, the author uses a metaphor to compare players to objects by stating the players are those actual

A novel method of displaying interdependencies of processes to increase visibility of production schedules was invented in 1896 by Karol Adamiecki, which was similar to the one defined by Gantt in 1903. However, Adamiecki did not publish his works in a language popular in the West; hence Gantt was able to popularize a similar method, which he developed around the years 1910 1915, and the solution became attributed to Gantt. With minor modifications, what originated as the Adamiecki s chart is now more commonly referred to as the Gantt Chart.[11][12] Gantt Chart A Gantt chart is a type of bar chart, developed by Henry Gantt in the 1910s, that illustrates a project schedule. Gantt charts illustrate the start and finish dates of the terminal elements and summary elements of a project. Terminal elements and summary elements comprise the work breakdown structure of the project. Some Gantt charts also show the dependency (i.e. precedence network) relationships between activities. Gantt charts can be used to show current schedule status using percent complete shadings and a vertical TODAY line as shown here.
