The Impact Of Tourism On The Australian Economy
Describe, analyze and evaluate how Australian tourism in general and more specifically the various
tourist segments you ve identified contribute to the Australian economy and society in general. In
particular, consider how various segments may impact GDP growth, public goods and open access
resources . Include an assessment of how exchange rate fluctuations may influence different tourist
segments.
Australia s tourism is an important part of the Australian economy. As mentioned earlier, tourism
represented 3.0% of Australia s GDP in 2014/2015. Another important part of the Australian tourism
is the domestic tourism, which represented 73% of the direct tourism s GDP in 2014/2015. In

A public good is a good that individuals can consume without reducing its availability to other
individuals. These goods are typically referred to as nonrivalrous and nonexcludable. A
common resource or open access resource is a resource that provides users with tangible
benefits. A concern that common resources have is overuse. When talking about overuse it is
very natural to mention the free rider problem that many countries are facing and especially
Australia. The theory behind a free rider is a person who benefits from a good that possibly
have been made or paid for by others without contributing to the good themselves. In the Africa
Progress Panel s 2015 report, it was stated that Australia has gone from a leadership to a free
rider status when talking about climate diplomacy. It is believed that developed countries such
as Australia are causing the majority of the problem through for example gas emissions. A
research shows that many of the countries who are the ones creating the most gas emitting are
also the ones who are least vulnerable to climate change and are essentially the free riders. It is
here important to remember that a modern example of a common resource is climate stability.
The problem with Australia essentially being a free rider is that Australia is a country with a lot
of wildlife and nature. Many people travel to Australia to experience the nature and wildlife but if
they continue being free riders it can result in lower GDP and lower income per capita because the
wildlife and beautiful nature with high possibility would be ruined thus fewer people would want
to visit the country. An example of this would be the Great Barrier Reef who recently was

Character Analysis Of Janie Crawford
Janie Crawford, an independent women living in the early twentieth century is on a quest for
fulfillment which she believe can be found in true love. As she tells her story to her friend Pheoby
Watson, we learn that instead of finding love she finds everything but love. After running away
with Jody Starks, a handsome educated man, Janie begins to see how human nature can turn your
once loving husband into a power seeking monster. Through the buying of land, the complete
control over a town s workings, and eventually the control of Janie it becomes evident that the only
thing Jody Starks wants in life is control.
When first arriving in the small town of Eatonville, Starks was surprised that there was no mayor,

Janie soon realizes that her job is too simply to be pretty and not have a voice in simple
conversation or decisions in the marriage. Her opinions would become rare and no matter what
Jody did, she [would say] nothing. Her one purpose in life as Jody saw it was to be a stepping
stool in his image as a leader. Only after did she stand up for herself did he show his true
character to her which lead to him [striking] Janie with all his might. This resistance between the
characters deep shows how Judy let his crave for power effect his life. He probably never loved
Janie rather he saw her as an object. This reflects how the society of that time saw women. They
were items that greater empowered the man they married. The marriage comes to a bitter end as
Janie learns that being by herself in the world is not so bad.
Overall the search and craving for power can send even the humblest man to extreme hostility.
He was not afraid to do whatever it takes to get the high pedestal in life. He controlled other
people s lives and property to feel secure in himself. This lead to the power crazed man that Janie
ended up marring. He revealed himself to not be the love of Janie s life rather a man who abused
her beauty to gain power. His power hungry and boastful nature impacted the main character in a
way that built he into the stronger person she needed to

The Role of Costume Design in Musical Theater
Courtney Cox 5 4 10 THEA 1334 Final Paper Costume Design THE ROLE OF COSTUME
DESIGN IN MUSICAL THEATER Imagine a classic Shakespearian play or Italian opera
performed in hip hugging jeans or baggy t shirts; or imagine the period musical 1776, produced
by the wonderful Stuart Ostrow, performed in the groovy attire of the 1970s. These performances
would seem completely out of place and confusing. One would not be able to grasp the
completeness of the story or have any understanding of the time period, geographical location, or
the character s lifestyles and/or social statuses. As a result, the audience would fail to see certain
emotions or feelings portrayed, character personalities, and would find it very difficult be connected

Defining each character separately allowing the audience the ability to follow a storyline with a
conceptualized look defined prior to a performance was, and is needed as part of preproduction
preparations. Early performers were generally male, therefore costuming was needed for gender
disguise so as to create the illusion of the opposite sex. In Asia, the men would dress up as
women. Young men also played women in the plays during the 1500s and 1600s. Many of these
young teenage boys were very sickly and often died at a very young age. This was a direct result
of skin eating diseases caused by the white, led based face paint they were forced to wear during
performances; a very sad and gruesome ending to such a short life. Costuming also helps create
other character building imagery such as age. The leading characters will always have more detail
and design to make them stand out and relate a sense of trust to the audience. Styles and technique
have changed significantly over the centuries but have maintained basic principles of clothing
design yet geared towards pushing the out the character s personality and traits in its appearance.
Many people simply show up to musicals and often take the costumes for granted and concentrate
only the performance of the actors. Many people don t realize the

Biography Of Jeffrey Leonard Resected A Brain Tumor
On December 23, 2014, neurosurgeon Jeffrey Leonard resected a brain tumor in a ten year old girl
that was previously thought to be inoperable. Although it took two operations, due to modern
technology and education Dr. Leonard was successful. The girl fully recovered from surgery and
was awake and responsive the next morning. Modern surgeons knowledge of the human brainhas
evolved immensely through the ages. The first brain surgeons did not have anywhere near the
knowledge that we possess today, but it is because of them that the current treatment of
neurological problems is so advanced. Doctors can now perform advanced procedures such as the
resection of tumors and clipping of aneurysms all while a patient is numbed and unconscious when
previously treatment was a painful shot in the dark. Neurosurgeryhas evolved not only through
extensive research of anatomy and a change in religious perspective, but came hand in hand with
the development of anesthetics and the world s major advancements in radiology and imaging.
Neurosurgery is set apart from every other field because it pertains to the most important part of
the body: the brain. If a person s entire body works perfectly with the exclusion of the brain, that
person will still never be able to function normally. There is a wide variety of neurological defects
that can arise in any one of us including aneurysms, tumors, nerve damage, and strokes. (__) The
sheer fragility of our minds demands highly skilled surgeons to fix

Examples Of Integrity In Goodnight And Goodluck
After watching the movie Goodnight and Goodluck directed by George Clooney I think the most
important aspect for present day communicators to carry into their work is integrity. I think
integrity is important because it is a value that shows your character and personality. During the
movie Murrow developed his character by consistently being honest with others and himself.
Edward Murrow shows integrity quite often. For example, when McCathy starts making false
accusations, Murrow stands up in front of the camera and defends himself by stating facts to prove
his innocence. McCarthy claimed that Murrow had ties to communism saying that he was on the
soviet pay role in 1932 and that he is a card carrying member for the international industrial

Different Cultures That We May Encounter As Therapists
Thus far in the course we have learned how important it is to have basic knowledge on various
cultures that we may encounter as therapists. According to Choudhuri, Santiago Rivera, Garrett
(2012), culture is defined as the personification of a worldview through learned and transmitted
beliefs, religious and spiritual traditions, psychological processes, values, and practices.
Moreover, it is a way of life that is shaped by ecological, historical, economic, and political factors
on a specific group of people (Choudhur et al., 2012). I have learned culturegoes beyond just race
and ethnicity. Culture can be seen in the way people dress, the type of food they eat, the medicines
they use, their religious practices, the people they chose to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In fact, there were only Spanish supermarkets, which are different than a Mexican market, which I
was interested to explore. From my understanding, in Philadelphia people of Spanish culture are
considered Dominican, Cuban, Puerto Rican, and other countries of Spanish decent. There are
Puerto Rican neighborhoods and Dominican neighborhoods but they all consider themselves part of
the same culture, which was interesting to me because in Texas, Mexicans were part of the
Mexican culture and Dominicans were a part of the Dominican culture.
Sources
In terms of sources, I happened to find two interesting articles exploring cultural components of a
Spanish supermarket. The first article I looked at was one that was a study of that what Spanish
consumers think about organic food. I choose this article because I was interested in exploring if
Spanish food can be healthy or organic. While I was in the market, I saw plenty of vegetables and
produce, but I was unsure if there were any organic products. The article explored the view of
organic food on the Spanish culture (Vega‐Zamora, Torres‐Ruiz, Murgado‐Armenteros,
Parras‐Rosa, 2014). It was viewed as higher value and more expensive product. Due to this view
of organic food, consumption is greatly impacted in the Spanish culture. Similar to the article
above, I found another article about Spanish culture and food,

Positive And Negative Effects Of Playing Video Games
What are the effects of playing video games?
Have you ever thought about playing video games, but your parents don t like you playing them?
Well not all video games are violent, crime ridden, based off of you killing things. Parents also
think that your not socializing with anyone while playing video games.Well There are quite a few
games out there that are based off of gamers socializing with other gamers through the game, there
are also plenty of games that are based off of strategy, reaction times, and there are some that are
proven to help the player become smarter and slow down old age.
Are video games bad for you? People say yes because they promote violence, and can kill brain
cells. Not all video games promote violence but it also depends on the players view of the game,
and them knowing what s real and what s not, and some have been proven to kill brain cells, like
some first person shooter games, but not all them. This graph represents how violent games effects
the cingulate cortex of the brain, the blue shows the decrease in brain cells, and the red shows the
increase in brain cells. People who think that video gamers are not social because they are sitting by
themselves, well the people who think that are not wrong, but they are also not right. Games have
the multiplayer option, which allows you to play video games with other people, and they can also
communicate with them through the game. As stated by http://www.bbc.co.uk/guides/zcs76fr

Perfect Winter Coat Research Paper
How to Choose the Perfect Winter Coat
I live in a place where the winter is long and very, very cold. Over the years, I learned how to
choose and invest in the perfect winter coat (coats, in my case, as I have two!) And I decided to
share some tips with you.
1. Choose the right material for your climate
I strongly suggest getting a woolen coat, or at least a wool blend that is warm and cozy. But wool
will not work in long rainy or snowy weather, so if the winters are wet and snowy where you live,
you should also invest in a blower style jacket that is waterproof and filled with some warm
material (such as feathers or Down) instead of a synthetic material such as polyester or polyamide.
3. Choose the right path for your body type

How E. Coli Affects The Digestive System
E. coli was first discovered by Theodor Escherich in 1885 after identifying it from the feces of a
newborn.(BioWeb). E.coli affects the digestive system. It s structures are a major part of its
functions. E.coli s functions are what causes the digestive system to malfunction.
E.coli affects and attacks the digestive system. The digestive system is where the body takes each
mouthful of food and turns it into a mushy paste, this paste helps maintain the body s homeostasis. (

Digestive System breaks down the food into nutrients, nutrients are the substances in the food that
provide energy throughout your whole body. Carbohydrates are also a major source

Examples Of Aggression In Hedda Gabler
Human Animalistic Instincts and Aggression Animals do not do what they have done. Animals kill
to eat, to defend themselves, or their own, and to protect their territory. Not for the joy of it. Not
for the lust of it. In this quote by Jim Butcher, animals are depicted as creatures who live to guard
their possessions because they have to. Human beings adhere similar qualities to animalistic
behaviors. Animals must be hostile or hold violent behaviors or attitudes toward another ready to
attack or to confront their prey or intruders. By studying animal behavior, humans gain insight on
their own. Feelings such as revenge, happiness, anger, have evolved and have become emotions that

One of the sources of the story is the Judgment of Solomon. In the Judgement of Solomon, two
women claim to be the mother of a baby. In the play, the story is reversed, and Grusha, the
character who is not the true mother of Michael, nurtures him as if he is her own. Territory is an
important aspect in the play, as it relates to possession over Michael, and the valley. Aggressionis a
biological necessity for defense of territory. (CITE) Animals and humans do not want their
dynasties taken away from them. The moral of the story is that the one who will make the best
use of the land which is the piece of territory deserves it. Along with the land, the one who will
be a good mother to Michael deserves him. Michael represents the land. Territory is always
fought over and humans like animals feel obligated to defend what they think belongs to them.
(CITE). Towards the end of the play, Michael s real mother, and Grusha have a chalk circle

a result, she announced as his mother. Grusha responds to social pressures to provide a safe home

In 2005, the Israeli government decided to give up the Gaza Strip, including Gush Katif, in an
effort to bring peace to the middle east. They did not take into consideration much of the
consequences of their actions. The attempt to create peace by giving Gush Katif to the
Palestinians not only did not have that effect, but the exact opposite effect, creating more
violence between the Israelis and the Palestinians, as well as a lack of trust between the
government and some of the Israeli people. Gush Katif is a village in the Middle East that is a part

Due to its close proximity to Palestinian land, Gush Katif was a constant location for terrorist
attacks. The first main attack was by the Gaza palestinians in December of 1987. The residents
of Gush Katif did not know how to handle the conflict. Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin said that
they will help Gush Katif and prove to the palestinians that they will not win through violence, no
matter how long it takes. Another famous bombing in Gush Katif was the November 20th 2000
school bus bombing. At 7:30am, a bomb blew up a school bus carrying children to school. Two
children were killed and nine were critically injured. Three siblings had to get amputations. There
were also constant attacks to vehicles on Kissufim road, most of which were suicide bombings on
children s busses. Lots of people got hurt. Despite all the terrorism, the residents of Gush Katif
were not afraid of living there. They claimed that this land was given to them in the Torah and that
all of Israel had their problems so they would not feel safer in the center of Tel Aviv. In 2004, Prime

Controlled Fires In California
Fires are a huge topic especially here in California since we have a water drought which causes
many land fields to be very dry. Summer is coming which means fire season, we have to be able
to know how to control fires when they occur. Also we need to be conservative over our water,
without it we can t fight the fires and control them. I support the fact that we want to practice the
method of controlled fires because it can help improve the way we fight fires. Controlled fires are a
technique sometimes used in forest fire management also to help get rid of green house gases. It
helps improve the environment and forest conditions almost like the slash and burn technique. But

Digestive System In The Digestive System
motility).
Digestive System (GI TRACT)
The digestive system is an organ system within animals, it s primary purpose is to break food down
into nutrients, which can be absorbed into the body to provide energy and expel the remaining
waste as faeces and urine. The gastrointestinal (GI) tract consists of the pharynx, oesophagus,
stomach, small intestines and the large intestines all of which play a vital role in helping the body
digest food and remove waste. Food moves through the GI tract via peristalsis. Peristalsis is the
contraction of the smooth muscles wall along the digestive tract which drives food into various
compartments of the GI tract. Peristalsis is initiated once food enters the oesophagus, food is then
transported to the stomach, peristalsis then continues in the small intestines where most digestion
and absorption of nutrients into the blood takes place. Peristalsis ends at the large intestines, this is
where majority of water and some vitamins are absorbed from the remaining waste material
(Tortora Derrickson, 2013).
Oesophagus
The oesophagus is a muscular tube which transports food from the pharynx to the stomach. It is
approximately 18 26 cm long, extending from the upper sphincter to the lower sphincter, it s also
lined with mucosa. The sphincters are normally closed as they act as valves. The upper sphincter
opens after swallowing to allow the entry of food into the oesophagus, whereas the lower sphincter
is found at the entrance to the stomach. It opens

Future Medications and Newer Drugs
Future medications Introduction This chapter deals with the newer drugs available in all classes of
psychiatric disorders. Anxiety (Social Phobia) Anxiety disorders affect more than 40 million adults
in the U.S., with about 15 million of those suffering from acute social phobia, according to the
National Institute of Mental Health. The drug, which has a unique mechanism of action, is
administered in an intranasal spray and acts with rapid onset on peripheral receptors from nasal
chemosensory neurons that act on the hypothalamic limbic system in the brain, which is thought to
be the primary center of emotion. In clinical trials, it was shown to improve social performance and
social interaction anxiety within 10 minutes of administration. Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity
Disorder (ADHD) ADHD is one of the most common reasons children in the United States are
referred for mental health services and affects as many as one in every 20 children, according to
Mental Health America. A potential medicine in development for ADHD is an agonist of neuronal
nicotinic receptors (NNR). NNRs serve as key regulators of nervous system functions. When certain
neurotransmitters bind to an NNR, the receptor normalizes chemical signaling in the brain,
allowing neurons to communicate properly. This results in increased signaling when the nervous
system is under stimulated and decreased signaling when the nervous system is overstimulated. A

Frederick Jackson Turner Analysis
History is a matter of what happened. Historians, however, work hard to understand why everything
happened. To do so, they must look back hundreds of years to each event and somehow answer the
question, why did this happen? Of these historians, three include Frederick Jackson Turner, who
believed that the western frontier movements were the cause to many events, Richard Hofstadter,
who believed that small groups impacted American politics, and Charles Beard, who felt that the
constitution was written for other reasons than many people thought. Each man picks apart
American historyand uses his own interpretation to analyze each event. Although each argument is

In his essay, he states The rising steam navigation on western waters, the opening of the Erie
Canal, and the westward extension of cotton culture added five frontier states in this period
(Turner). Turner uses several different events and connects it to the advancement on the frontier.
These are not the only events that he manages to link the frontier to, as he explains more at a later
point in his essay. In Hofstadter s essay on the paranoid style , Hofstadter uses three events but
does not clearly link them to his theory. As an example, he uses the Illuminati and Masonry as an
event to connect things together but only really explains the history behind this (Hofstadter). He
never states how these were affected by his paranoid style . As well as Hofstadter, Beard did a
similar thing in his essay. Beard s idea was that the Constitution was written for a different purpose
than many people think but he rarely mentions what this purpose was. Beard does state that the
underlying purpose of the Constitution was not the establishment of popular government by means
of parliamentary majorities (Beard). Although this answers to his idea, this is the only time in the
entire essay where this is mentioned. In every other part, Beard is explaining the process of writing
the Constitution at the Convention and how the Articles of Confederation had caused nothing but
harm to the new

Vehicle Enhancements Research Paper
Vehicle Enhancements Do you want your vehicle to reach a higher top speed than expected, but
do not know what enhancements to use for it to be done safely? Although there are many
upgrades that can improve speed, you also need to improve down force and weight reduction to
reach maximum potential. If the three of these are not done, then when reaching high speeds the
vehicle may flip because it does not have the proper down force it needs to hold it to the ground.
When the car has too much weight it could keep it from reaching the highest possible speedit can
handle. So how can we first improve speed?
To most people, speed is the only thing a car or truck needs to win a race. One way to help
enhance the speed is to add a multitude of parts, some of which are as follows: Super charger,
nitrous, turbo, and performance chips. These are just a few of the many options one may run into.
Super chargers increase the power of an engine (Harris, William). They do this by increasing the
pressure or density of air supplied to an internal combustion engine. Another way that is also

but not make your vehicle too light is by acquiring and installing fiberglass body panels, aluminum

The mistake was not accounting for the impact first person narration had over placing the
characters and narrative action within their proper context in the original comic. This mistake is
vividly apparent in a scene where Batman is on one of his first adventures to fight crime in his
costume where he attacks three teenagers that are in the middle of robbing an apartment. The
scene does not have much action to it besides the rookie Batman almost throwing one of teens off
a fire escape then saving him and fighting off the other two accomplices. After Batman defeats
them and saves the other boy he lies on the ground for a bit and mentally scolds himself for being
a lucky amateur . The scene in the original comic is much more different as Wayne s emotions,
feelings, observations, the context of actions, and his pain are much more apparent. They are
portrayed through Wayne s first person narration which is where most of the visual and mental
content comes from in the scene, all of which is almost inexistent during the scene in the animated
version. Instead of slowly uncovering something else Batman was feeling during that scene
through his first person narration, all that was compressed and saved for when Wayne is on the
ground scolding himself. The original scene was filled with emotional and narrative context and
when compared to the brief scene from the movie, which still makes its point, the comic simply

Military Strengths
Mumbles of military cadence and grumbles of frustration were all that could be heard as the
formation entered its fourth mile of the tedious run. Feet throbbed, shins burned, knees felt swollen
from the rhythmic beating they were being subjected to. The less talented runners struggled to stay
with the group, the more capable ones yearned to be released from the slow moving herd. Both had
one thing in common; they could not wait for this run to be over. Most members of the militarycan

A military.com article by Stew Smith details, We know that hard heel strikes are a result of over
striding and can lead to many foot, knee, and shin injuries. Also the heel strike in front of the body
can limit your momentum and slow you down significantly. (Smith) The current military mindset
places much more emphasis on the do and not nearly enough on the how . Most adults have
adopted poor running form over years of drawing upon techniques that they ve heard somewhere,
not knowing the validity of the information they are trusting. There is a tendency to overthink how
to run which leads to implementation of poor mechanics and form. In comparison, watching a
young child run will typically demonstrate the unaltered natural running form that the body was
designed for. Unfortunately, it is very difficult for an adult to unlearn bad habits. Instead, it is
necessary to learn new techniques and practice them until they become natural again. There are
numerous training classes and drills becoming readily available to service members to develop, or
fix their running form. Studies have already shown a reduction in the number of injuries being
sustained from physical training at several military installations. Many physical therapy programs
have adopted the POSE running technique and are incorporating it in the Army s Master Fitness
Trainer course at installations across the world in an effort to educate the community on proper
form and injury prevention. The last key to increased performance and longevity is routine
stretching drills. Along with form drills, stretching and flexibility drills also promote greater

Stereotypes In Dracula
Why is society obsessed with teaching women what and whatnot to do? It could be the way that
society teaches women, telling them they are not valued as much as men. Men view women across
the nations as property . They claim that women are weak and stupid; therefore, men treat women
as if they are higher than women. Bram Stoker s Draculaconveys the reality of Victorian, and today
s society s prejudice toward the values of women by acknowledging only a woman s wrongs, and
how New Women overcomes it. For example, in Dracula, Bram Stoker is aware of the stereotypes
in the Victorian era; he decides to make two different aspirations and social life of the Victorian era.

In this time period, men believed they were superior to women because women did not have
jobs. For example, in Dracula, when Jonathan Harker sleeps in a room that Dracula did not
assign him, he is trapped with three women in the parlor, and he believes he is going to die. At
least God s mercy is better than that of these monsters.... At its foot a man may sleep as a man
(Stoker 57). Perhaps, Jonathan believes that if the three women victimize him, it would make
him less of a man that he is. Another example is the mention of the New Women when Lucy and
Mina were going a walk: I believe we should have shocked the New Woman with our appetites

Essay on Manchester Airport and Mcdonald s
This report will cover a comparison between two organizations Manchester Airport and McDonald s

The first abdominal hysterectomy was first performed by Charles Clay in Manchester in 1843 even
though the initial procedure was to remove an ovarian tumour, the patient coughed and extruded a
huge uterine fibroid through the incision. He had no choice but to perform a subtotal hysterectomy,
unfortunately the patient died a few hours later. Surprisingly in the same year another surgeon
Heath had the same situation happen to him and the patient died from post operative blood loss.
The following year Charles Clay attempted another hysterectomy procedure and almost succeeded,
but the patient died post operatively after fifteen days having fallen out of bed. Nevertheless, Ellis
Burnham from Lowell, Massachusetts successfully achieved the first abdominal hysterectomy, but
diagnosis was wrong, he thought he was removing an ovarian cyst. However, Kimball who was
also from Massachusetts carried out the first hysterectomy for a fibroid tumour with the patient
surviving the operation. The most common reason for performing hysterectomy is to cure uterine
fibroids, but however, The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) stated
that total abdominal hysterectomy should be considered as a last option for fibroids and that
woman should be told about other treatments which are less drastic surgical procedures. Mrs Bird
is health and fit with no other presenting issues besides her current problem. It is important for
Mrs Bird to understand the changes her body will go through after the operation. Her medical
history indicates that she has normal and stable physiological status, a chest x ray was performed
to examine any abnormalities in her lungs, electrocardiograms was performed to access her heart

Samaid Meals Analysis
A 43 year old woman lies about her age and falls for a younger man who doesn t know the truth.
STORY COMMENTS
SALAD DAYS is a script that presents with an enjoyable, high concept premise. The idea of an
older woman pretending to be a younger woman and lying to her boyfriend/husband is a great
setup for comedy, conflict, and character development. One can envision the antics and capers the
protagonist will endure to keep her age a secret. Plenty of humor can be generated.
The script has the opportunity to examine themes about ageless love and the age gap between men
and women.
While the concept is solid, the first act requires more development.
The first act sets up the ordinary world of the protagonist, Suzy. She works for a candy company,...

The scene in the hospital with the baby works better without the added dialogue. Just the visual of
Suzy holding the baby is needed, vs. Valentino asking her Want a baby too?
Create a separate scene about being evicted versus the same scene with them in the car.
Suzy is sweet. She s definitely good hearted and likable. She s insecure and this makes her

character, but continue to develop her comedic side by showing how she covers up the truth about
her age. Make sure to identify how she grows as a character and how her feelings about her age
changes.
Bob and Diane are both great sidekicks. They sound and act like natural comedic characters.
Valentino is more likable when he s a bit on edge. Don t make him too nice. There s no tension in
that. To create tension and chemistry there has to be resistance. He becomes way too immature and

A Study On Sickle Cell Anemia
Sickle Cell Anemia The gene or chromosome that is affected? The haemoglobin atom has
combine parts: an alpha and a beta. Patients with reference to sickle cell suffering take on a
variation in a gene on chromosome 11 that codes for the beta subunit of the haemoglobin protein.
As an answer, hemoglobin molecules don t display suitably, causing red blood cells to be stiff
and take on a concave shape (like a sickle used to trim wheat). These adequate shaped cells get
hooked in the blood vessels and are unable to transport oxygen effectively, causing pain and
damage to the organs. What causes Sickle Cell Disease? Sickle Cell disease is a blood disorder
that is inherited from both parents. This disorder is more usual in certain ethnic groups: African
Americans, Arabs, Greeks, Italians, Latin and Native Americans. Normal red blood cells are
very adjustable and are circular in appearance, there flexibility and shape allow them to journey
freely through small blood vessels called capillaries. The red blood cells develop into crescent or
sickle shaped and also become inflexible. The abnormal cells attach inside the capillaries closing
blood flow to vital organs. Symptoms experienced by a sufferer of the condition? Sickle cell
anemia is a disease passed down through families in which red blood cells form an abnormal
crescent shade red blood cells are normally shaped like a disc. Sickle Cell anemia symptoms

Who Is Andrew Jackson Dbq
In 1828, Andrew Jackson and John Quincy Adams were engaged in an intense election. Jackson
will win the presidency this time around. Why? Jackson is seen as a symbol of the working man,
and ran his campaign as such. America was looking for a new start, a lack of trust in the
capability of leaders, caused by the financial panic of 1819, and a brewing dispute over slavery
policies plagued everyday conversation. The democratically structured society, the western frontier,
which Jackson was raised in, will allow him to take the leadership role, as president in the future,
and spread the fruit of democracy. This new and refreshing promulgation of democracy is shown
through universal manhood suffrage, the spoils system, and the institution of a laissez faire style

Jackson s rough and often times inflaming personality had been a major contrast to the more
reserved and proper attitudes of those in Washington. Politicians in power were not directly

Carbohydrates Shakes Isn t As Bad
8 Facts why Fat in Protein Shakes isn t as Bad as You Think
When building muscle is the goal, most athletes try to eliminate their fat intake. Fat is not bad but
an important part of everyone s nutritional needs. Despite the fact that fat is high in calories, there
are many health benefits that come from them. In proper balance and moderation, they will aid you
in your training regimen and get you stronger, more defined and keep you healthy.
1.Energy during Exercise
Twenty minutes into a workout and it feels like you hit a wall. Energy levels drop and so does
your performance. By adding a small amount of fat to your pre workout protein shake, when the
carbohydrates run out at the twenty minute mark, the body can then start to burn the fat.
The carb crash causes an increase of insulin in the blood stream followed by a rapid decrease in
blood sugar when the carbs are all used up. When fat burns, the body does not release extra insulin
and give you a sustained level of energy.
2.Hormones
Both men and women each have certain amounts of both testosterone and estrogen in their bodies.
The cholesterol found in saturated fats produces hormones. Not only does the saturated fat help
produce hormones, it helps to balance them or to raise the testosterone levels. An increase in
testosterone helps to build muscles. With more muscle mass the body burns more fat.
3.Improve Vitamin and Supplement Absorption
There are two kinds of vitamins: water soluble and fat soluble.

Analysis Of The Movie The Dark Knight
What is the typical menu of villainous images placed before us when we dine out at a movie
theater? A scientist has his face deep cleaned in a bell jar of acid to the epidermal enthusiasm of
his beauticians (Darkman); a psychopathic criminal mastermind reigns chaos to the citizens of
Gotham (The Dark Knight) and another sequel, eight years on, despite his tarnished reputation
after the events of The Dark Knight, in which he took the rap for Dent s crimes, caped crusader
feels compelled to intervene to assist the city and its police force which is struggling to cope
with the villain s (who knows the caped crusader all too well) plans to destroy the city (The Dark
Knight Rises). This raises the question; Is the role of the villain in Hollywood important for a
successful movie? In the movie industry, the success of a movie is based on the amount of
revenue the movie brings in, creativity (whether it be time frame or characters), and the story
line of the movie. But in order to form a valid opinion on whether or not a villain is needed in a
movie to be considered successful, first we must discuss the history of movies that included
villains, iconic movie villains and the success of their movies, and finally, the importance of the
villain in cinema. Literature Review/Background America s collective unconscious has always
been reflected and amplified by the portrayal of Hollywood villains. If one wanted to understand

Mental Illnesses In College Campuses
Colleges provide a unique opportunity to identify, prevent, or treat mental disorders because
campuses often encompass students residences, social networks, and many services, writes Linda
Cook. Often, if a student is struggling, campus resources are the first place they turn. Whether a
student turns to a professor, campus clinic staff member, or resident assistant, the hope is that they
will be met with compassion. Colleges and universities should require their staff and students to be
well informed about common mental illnesses that often emerge in the college years. Awareness of
signs and symptoms, available treatments and resources, and proper ways to intervene can help
fight the mental health crisis. Yet many colleges still improperly... Show more content on

said they had never heard of the services available at their campus. 38 percent said they had heard
about the services but knew nothing about them (Yorgason et al.). Awareness of campus resources
is low, partly because of stigma, but also, perhaps, because colleges are not raising enough
awareness. A simple flyer advertising mental health resources available on campus could save a life.
The link to the counseling center being present on the university s homepage, rather than being
buried beneath information about summer classes and tips for graduate papers, could stop one
student from dropping out. A simple mention of the counseling center at freshman orientation could

obligation to maintain their image, but they also have an obligation to their students to make them
aware of the resources they can make use of. Many colleges and universities now offer an Active

Analysis Of Sebald s The Rings Of Saturn Essay
Within a narrative, the foundational text can assume great power by implicating strong contextual
components, such as imagery. On the other hand, images themselves offer words that do not have
to be written. However, every author is unique in how they choose to narrate and they must be
unbiasedly treated as so. To compare the differentiating styles that can be found in narrative, this
essay will attempt to analyze the relationship between image and text in Sebald s The Rings of
Saturn , and how either allows the readerto evoke similar emotions.
Sebald has made it seem as though image and text consisted of a tight bond that would otherwise
fail if separated. For example, particular photographs within The Rings of Saturn are barely legible,
creating a sense that something is missing and the reader s job is to find it. His purpose here gives
the impression that one is to diminish their confidence in visual representation. Sebald wants his
readers to question image without textual depictions in order for them to understand that one
cannot exist without the other, but also to explore various forms this relationship can express.
When studying art or photography, an image itself holds the possibility that an individual can
analyze it without textual support. From a writer s standpoint, it would seem common sense to
utilize images that will not overwhelm the narrative, in order to not draw to much attention to the
image rather than the text. This gives the reader the impression

Such legislations which have been mentioned above ostensibly aimed to provide better

Aboriginal families thought as an acceptable living standards from white standards were often

protected the Aboriginal children by removing them from their parents. However, applying
removed children s evidences cited above to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Abstraction Is An Old Story With The Philosophers
Abstraction is an old story with the philosophers, but it has been like a new toy in the hands of
the artists of our day. Why can t we have any one quality of poetry we choose by itself? We can
have in thought. Then it will go hard if we can t in practice. Our lives for it.
Granted no one but a humanist much cares how sound a poem is if it is only a sound. The sound
is the gold in the ore. Then we will have the sound out alone and dispense with the inessential. We
do till we make the discovery that the object in writing poetry is to make all poems sound as

Granted again that it has an equal claim with sound to being a poem s better half. If it is a wild
tune, it is a Poem. Our problem then is, as modern abstractionists, to have the wildness pure; to
be wild with nothing to be wild about. We bring up as aberrationists, giving way to undirected
associations and kicking ourselves from one chance suggestion to another in all directions as of a
hot afternoon in the life of a grasshopper. Theme alone can steady us down. just as the first
mystery was how a poem could have a tune in such a straightness as metre, so the second mystery
is how a poem can have wildness and at the same time a subject that shall be fulfilled.
It should be of the pleasure of a poem itself to tell how it can. The figure a poem makes. It begins
in delight and ends in wisdom. The figure is the same as for love. No one can really hold that the
ecstasy should be static and stand still in one place. It begins in delight, it inclines to the impulse,
it assumes direction with the first line laid down, it runs a course of lucky events, and ends in a
clarification of life not necessarily a great clarification, such as sects and cults are founded on, but
in a momentary stay against confusion. It has denouement. It has an outcome that though
unforeseen was predestined from the first image of the original mood and indeed from the very
mood. It is but a trick poem and no poem at all if the best of it was thought of first and saved for

Effects Of Sondheim s Nonconformity On Musical Theatre
Sondheim s Nonconformity and Its Effect on Musical Theatre
Musical theatre performance, which presents fictional plots and impresses audiences with show
stopping dance and song, unites dramatic works across the globe. American musical theatre,
specifically, draws inspiration from European straight plays, burlesques, and operas, while
dramatizing American topics. Nineteenth century musical comedies use entertaining situations,
rather than plot, to frame performances involving song, dance, and humor. For example, George M.
Cohan s works, although inspired by European musical theatre, fail to please audiences as its unified
music and book neglect the plot. By the twentieth century, however, pioneers such as Oscar
Hammerstein II create musical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to early American musical comedies, whose songs separate the characters from the
action, Sondheim carefully crafts his songs, with every word serving both the actor and the
audience. When writing a musical, he thinks as the character, attempting and usually succeeding at
portraying his situation. As Arthur Laurents, one of his collaborators, said, Steve...is the only
lyricist who almost always writes songs for the characters they are written for (Michener 384).
Since he writes the songs for the characters, each word has a specific purpose, but he still puts a
twist on established devices of musical theatre. Musical theatre often contains rhyme, but
Sondheim s rhymes provide emphasis because all rhymes draw attention to the rhymed word
(Sondheim, Finishing the Hat, xxvii). Since the songs words signify a profound amount of
meaning, Sondheim makes sure that the lyrics and rhythms work for the character and the actor.
Getting Married Today in Company demonstrates this particularity. On Amy s wedding day, she
experiences doubt in marrying Paul, expressed through a fast paced frenzy of thoughts and
emotions. So that this whirl of emotions does not become too chaotic, Sondheim s word choice
allows the actress playing Amy to capitalize on every word, as he calculates the song to alternate
vowel and consonant sounds in such a way as to make them easy for the tongue, teeth, and breath
to articulate (184). Thus, every word in Getting Married Today has a specific purpose, unlike the
lyrics of other musicals without such a careful word choice. While the audience needs to use the
lyrics to understand the plot, Sondheim s intelligence and wit leaves the audience marveling at
what clever things he does with words (Banfield 113). In his songs, Sondheim wants to show off
his literary skills while staying true to the

protocol improves communication mode from single hop to multi hop between cluster head and

Residue Aware (ERA)clustering algorithm, to prolong the lifetime of a sensor network by
balancing the energy consumption of the entire network.ERA enables each sensor to associate its
cluster head to find a path with maximum energy residue sum instead of a path with the minimum
energy consumption as many energy efficient routing protocols have been proposed in sensor
networks for different scenarios and various applications in literature. One of the efficient way is to
group sensors in the neighbouring into clusters and send aggregate data by a designated cluster
head. However, such design discipline still can not balance the energy consumption of the entire
network. As such, in worst cases, some nodes may be soon exhausted. Consequently, it is difficult
to provide effective operation and seamless coverage in such a network. Cheng et al.(2008) [6]
proposed an energy efficient, weighted clustering algorithm which improves the cluster formation
process of LEACH by taking residual energy mutual position, workload balance and MAC
functioning into consideration.WSN is extremely energy limited, the traditional network routing
protocols are not suitable to it. Energy conservation becomes a crucial

they brought these weapons into the Egyptian way of war, they taught the Egyptians how to use and

by the Egyptians using these weapons.
It seems as thought the Hyksos were able to easily take over Upper Egypt for two reasons; their
superior military advancements and the perfect timing, during a political weakness. But it is
possible that another factor may have facilitated this conquering as well. There is another
theory, which suggests that; the whole area was infected by plague, perhaps this is what is
meant by the smiting of god (Van Seters p.203). If the Hyksos were to march into Upper Egypt
at this time, there would be no one to stop them from taking over. Which is why there is little to
no evidence of war during this time. Apophis was the Final Hyksos leader, he was a great king,
who had great wealth and a great reputation, and perhaps this is what drove the Egyptians to take
back Lower Egypt. The end of the Hyksos ruling began with the Egyptian ruler Seqenenre, who
directed a campaign against the Hyksos from Thebes. Apophis sent Seqenenre a letter claiming the
hippopotami of Thebes were disgraceful, bellowing so loudly that he could not sleep . (Watterson,

men compared to nerds and geeks. It s something about being intelligent, awkward, and the
complete opposite of your typical ladies manthat challenges the perception of masculinityto society.
Over time, media has played a part in shaping our depiction and understanding of males ... Show

Media places the belief that anything that challenges masculinity or goes against the ideal
masculinity is in fact not masculine at all. This creates the belief that anything associated with
femininity is not to be associated with masculinity. Society teaches boys that showing emotion is
for girls, not always being tough makes you weak and less of man, and that certain feelings,
ideas, and activities are off limits because they aren t deemed manly enough. What society is
really teaching our boys and men is that being yourself is never okay or enough if it anything
outside of the set masculine norm. We create an entire gender to be what is expected of them and
never their true selves, damaging their self identity before it can begin to

The Pros And Cons Of Advertisement
As decades pass, advertisement and marketing methods are constantly evolving. Companies will
lure buyers in with methodical discrete messages that are unrecognizable to readers. They will
use a person s morals or values to attract their attention and create ingenious perspectives on
common standards of the time period. Even children toy advertisements have underlying
meanings; companies pay close attention to the smallest details and make sells by evoking a
child to nag their parents to purchase their product. Like many toy companies, Fisher Price
created a magazine ad in the 1980 s that displayed a shift in the typical roles of men and women
in a household. Fisher Price released an appealing advertisement in 1987 for their Magic Vac, a
battery free toy vacuum for children to enjoy. The main focal pointof the ad is the illustration of the
boy vacuuming the house while the girl sits in a chair reading a newspaperwith her shoes off. Prior
to the 1980s, the emblematic standard for women was to take care of the house and raise the
children while the husband worked during the day. In the 80s, women began working outside of the
homeand bringing in an income, this did not make them inferior to their husbands, but it did make
some men uncomfortable. They were uncertain about the idea of their wife working and splitting
household duties. Normally, men would come home from work and sit in their recliners with their
feet propped up and shoes off reading the newspaper; the wives

Summary Of Thomas Hardy s The Darkling Thrush
Following the Second Industrial Revolution, the issue regarding the effects of climate change on
the natural environment has initiated a significant concern within both past and current participants
of society. In The Darkling Thrush, which Thomas Hardy wrote during the prime industrialization
of society, the environmental atmosphere is characterized as both ghostlike and dead while the
species surrounding the environmentare depicted as being poorly affected by the change in climate.
The ongoing societal and scientific concern regarding the damaging effects of climate change
allows us to perceive Hardy s The Darkling Thrush as a depiction of the severe consequences of
human carbon pollutionon both the environment and the foundations of life surrounding it.
In Julie Kerr Casper s nonfiction book Fossil Fuels and Pollution: The Future of Air Quality, the
collective societal acceptance of alternatives to human labor is argued as one of the most prevalent
factors contributing to climate change since the Second Industrial Revolution. Such alternatives
during this period included the burning of fossil fuels, which were burned to produce electricity, to
heat and cool buildings, and to power machines. The idea of burning coal seemed to be a somewhat
appealing alternative to human labor at the time, and as technology advanced, more products were
developed to replace human labor (Casper 66). Casper demonstrates that although the discovery of
burning coal meant more efficiency

The Separation between Mind and Body
Looking at my work, one may wonder whether they are looking at something tiny or enormous.
Is the object representing something interior or exterior? This dichotomy correlates to idea of
separation, or even conflict, between mind and body. Are the two separate, or are they
symbiotic, and entirely dependent on each other? Just as some people believe that meditation
can clarify or synchronize the mind and body, my work is a process that symbolically expresses
trauma, disease, and death, beyond what is apparent from a physical body, bringing about a
similar synchronization. Recently, I have been exploring Francisco J. Varela s ideas of the
portable laboratory. He said, Human beings in their embedded, situated life, constitute a de facto
topographical place (the body, the self) where procedures and gestures can be carried out to
directly explore the human experience itself (the quest). 1 In my practice, I seek to explore both
the physical and psychological aspects of trauma and healing. As I have continued with my own
exploration, I have expanded my research to include ideas from philosophy and science as well
as art. The contemporary philosopher, Susan J. Brison has been a great influence in my practice.
One quote that has inspired much of my work comes from her book, Aftermath: Violence and the
Remaking of a Self. She said, We are our molecules; our deepest fears, joys, and desires are
embodied in the chemical signals of our neurotransmitters. But we are also creators of

Calum Lighting Effects
Lighting is an essential component of filming and lighting effects illustrate the mood of the scene
and in essence also portray the scene. The use of effective lighting in the scenes is essential to
ensure that the scene is shot properly and the message is communicated effectively. In this project
we have discussed a story, which has a grim message, and thus the lightingeffects have all been
made accordingly. The story being projected here is the ill effects of drug addiction and the fact
that drugs would ultimately lead to death. The projection of the story needs a grim background and
hence the lighting effects would all be of a night effect (Brown, 2013).
The first scene that will be shot is that of Calum, the protagonist, in his bedroom ... Show more

He walks towards the toy and finds a bottle of alcohol. Here the lights would be stronger to
illustrate that he has found joy in intoxication, but however in the background a cars noise is
heard and the lights are turned on to illustrate a car that is approaching towards Calum. As he
bends down to pick up the bottle the car is about to hit him at a high speed (Grodal, 2005). In
this scene the sepia effect would be used to illustrate a figure that is carrying a baby in its arm
and the lights would be focused on the hooded figure. The symbolic evidence of this scene is
death carrying away Calum, who is as immature as a baby and does not know how to differentiate
between good and bad. The choice between the toy and the alcohol is symbolic of this fact and this
illustrates the mental status of youth today, who are into drugs and alcohol for fun . The car hits
Calum and the lights are turned off. This is the end of this scene and the darkness is representative
of the wrong choice that Calum has made.
In this scene bright lights would be used as Calum wakes up in the graveyard for the third time
and follows the mystery figure. He is about to reach the figure when suddenly the scene is shifted
to his apartment and he is about to put his hand on the door handle. Here bright lights will be used
and Calum opens the door after hearing sounds of choking and gagging. Lights are turned down
and Calum sees himself lying on the bed overdosed (Hayward,

Essay about Stages of Spinal Cord Injury Research
(THIS WAS AN INFORMATIVE SPEECH I DID FOR MY COM220 CLASS ON THE STAGES
OF SPINAL CORD INJURY RESEARCH. IT ACTED AS AN INTRODUCTION TO MY
PERSUASIVE SPEECH ON THE BENEFITS OF STEM CELL RESEARCH)
There are about a quarter of a million people in the United States living with spinal cord injuries.
In addition, between 7,600 and 10,000 new injuries occur each year. Nearly half of these new
injuries will occur in young people between the ages of 16 and 30. As a person in this category, I
have become very interested in the research to find a cure for spinal cord injuries and hope to share
some of the information I found with you today. In order for you to fully understand the details I
will be sharing with you, I d like to begin with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As you can see from this graph, 66% of sports injuries occur in the form of diving accidents, while
I am part of the 3.8% of snow skiing accidents.
Now that I have shared a brief overview of the spinal cord and some statistics about spinal cord
injuries, we will look at the past research that has led to the treatments most commonly used today.
In 1990, a steroid called dexamethasone was discovered in human trials to preserve some motor
and sensory function if administered at high doses within 8 hours of injury. Surgery used to
remove fluid, tissue, or bone fragments, or to stabilize fractured vertebrae by fusing bones or
inserting hardware has also proven to be one of the most thorough measures to prevent further harm.
I received both of these treatments after my accident, and they are the same that have been used for
the past decade. Until recently, doctors had no way of limiting such disabilities, aside from
stabilizing the cord to prevent added destruction, treating infections, and prescribing rehabilitative
therapy to maximize any remaining capabilities.
Within the past few years, however, scientists have made many new advancements. The United
States Food and Drug Administration has approved 2 electronic systems that regulate muscles by
sending electrical signals through implanted wires, called functional electrical stimulation (FES).
Some proteins have been found to promote nerve growth and restore limb function and sensation
when administered directly

Swat Team Research Paper
America was first introduced to the first SWAT teams in the year of 1966. SWAT, which first
stood for Special Weapons Attack Team, and then was later changed to Special Weapons and
Tactics, was founded by Daryl Gates who was a police commander for the Los Angeles Police
Department. SWAT teams are different from regular law enforcement in the fact that they are far
more advanced and handle far more advanced and dangerous situations. They use more powerful
weapons and more experienced policing tactics. They could be considered the elite members of law
enforcement. SWAT teams do not just deal with the normal criminal. They handle the extreme
criminals who often defy law enforcement. SWAT teams were founded in an effort the lower the
massively high crime rate that was dominating the late 1990s. These specially trained police
officers are an example of the paramilitary policing which also first arose during this time period.
Paramilitary policing can be defined just how it sounds. It is a style of policing that is similar...

Here, people were poor and gangs such as the Crips and Bloods, and Mexican super gangs,
roamed the streets wreaking havoc. Drugs, especially cocaine, were a huge problem. People were
being shot and killed, and police officers were also being increasingly targeted, particularly by
African Americans. Something had to be done. Ultimately, the VCSU stepped in, took control of
the situation, and brought the crime and drug rate under control on the streets of south Fresno. The
VCSU was important in this case perhaps because they give of a more intimidating vibe; dressed in
full armor, camouflage, and carrying large automatic weapons. This might make criminals and
perpetrators think twice, instead of there being just a regular police officer with a handgun
patrolling the streets, who may not give off the same intimidating

Benefits Of A Virtual Technology Essay
Case Summary: When thinking about the top three points in the Kimberly Clack case indicates the
way customer s shop in store opposed to virtually. The case demonstrates that there several
adjustments that need to be completed with Virtual Technology. These changes to this form of
technology present an integrating end to the traditional method for shopping in the business sector.
In implementing these strategies/changes will permit quicker feedback, more economical and
adequate training along with other forms of evaluation (O Brien and Marakas, 2009). One of the
benefits of virtual technology is this strategic form of technology embarks upon the value of service
rendered to companies similar to Kimberly Clark presents to sellers within the company.
Implementing formative strategies such as these aids in the way buyers plan to shop. It equips the
customer with the ability to virtually compare product in more or a visual aspect even including a
new product that hit the market. Shoppers will have the flexibility to reflect upon the data retrieved
from the virtual technology to support the companies the product and the developmental stages.
These methods will promote that shopping with the opportunity to explore product goods/services
through a system that reconstructs the way we shop aisle by aisle. This technique is more engaging
for the customer to actively participate in selecting items before making their virtual purchase
opposed to being put on the spot when shopping

America Is A Leading Political And Economic Superpower
America is a leading political and economic superpower, most known for being the largest
democracy and being founded with unreplaceable views of freedom, civil liberties, and the iconic
American dream. Despite these great accomplishments, there is a growing problem in America
that if not handled will be the greatest mistake in American history. Strict regulation on campaign
contributions is necessary because they go against core principles of democracy including,
encouraging abuse of power, decreasing political participation, and promoting an increase in
political and financial inequality between the extremely rich and the rest of Americans. Big
campaign donations promote corruption. This is known and yet nothing is done about these giant
anti democracy rulings. In 2010 The Supreme court case Citizens United v. FEC ruled that
campaign funding is protected as a form of free speech which broadens an already ridiculously
unclear policy. One giant problem with this is that PACs and other individuals or organizations
can receive and donate as much money as needed if they vow to spend the money independently
from campaigns. These donors expect reimbursement. In America today, we are seeing a rapid
increase of special interests infringing on the political process and this has to stop.
Supporters of loose campaign finance regulations argue that donations are a form of protected free
speech. They believe regulation should not interfere with the general gratitude a candidate

New York Vs South Compare And Contrast
New York has been prodigious. You should have tagged along with me. New York is incredibly
different to the South. I have visited so many places. I have visited factories, and other cities. It is
just incredible how different the North and South are. But I truly think that the South is better in
many reasons.
Compared to the South the North is for sure a lot colder. People here told me that the weather that
they get is warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. I truly love the snow but the only
problem is that we couldn t make profit with our plants because the region has rocky hills and most
of the land is infertile. The economy here is by far different. They have industries, shipping,
textiles, lumbers, furs, and mining. They use the

  • 2. The Impact Of Tourism On The Australian Economy Describe, analyze and evaluate how Australian tourism in general and more specifically the various tourist segments you ve identified contribute to the Australian economy and society in general. In particular, consider how various segments may impact GDP growth, public goods and open access resources . Include an assessment of how exchange rate fluctuations may influence different tourist segments. Australia s tourism is an important part of the Australian economy. As mentioned earlier, tourism represented 3.0% of Australia s GDP in 2014/2015. Another important part of the Australian tourism is the domestic tourism, which represented 73% of the direct tourism s GDP in 2014/2015. A public good is a good that individuals can consume without reducing its availability to other individuals. These goods are typically referred to as nonrivalrous and nonexcludable. A common resource or open access resource is a resource that provides users with tangible benefits. A concern that common resources have is overuse. When talking about overuse it is very natural to mention the free rider problem that many countries are facing and especially Australia. The theory behind a free rider is a person who benefits from a good that possibly have been made or paid for by others without contributing to the good themselves. In the Africa Progress Panel s 2015 report, it was stated that Australia has gone from a leadership to a free rider status when talking about climate diplomacy. It is believed that developed countries such as Australia are causing the majority of the problem through for example gas emissions. A research shows that many of the countries who are the ones creating the most gas emitting are also the ones who are least vulnerable to climate change and are essentially the free riders. It is here important to remember that a modern example of a common resource is climate stability. The problem with Australia essentially being a free rider is that Australia is a country with a lot of wildlife and nature. Many people travel to Australia to experience the nature and wildlife but if they continue being free riders it can result in lower GDP and lower income per capita because the wildlife and beautiful nature with high possibility would be ruined thus fewer people would want to visit the country. An example of this would be the Great Barrier Reef who recently was pronounced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Character Analysis Of Janie Crawford Janie Crawford, an independent women living in the early twentieth century is on a quest for fulfillment which she believe can be found in true love. As she tells her story to her friend Pheoby Watson, we learn that instead of finding love she finds everything but love. After running away with Jody Starks, a handsome educated man, Janie begins to see how human nature can turn your once loving husband into a power seeking monster. Through the buying of land, the complete control over a town s workings, and eventually the control of Janie it becomes evident that the only thing Jody Starks wants in life is control. When first arriving in the small town of Eatonville, Starks was surprised that there was no mayor, street lights, or even a store ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Janie soon realizes that her job is too simply to be pretty and not have a voice in simple conversation or decisions in the marriage. Her opinions would become rare and no matter what Jody did, she [would say] nothing. Her one purpose in life as Jody saw it was to be a stepping stool in his image as a leader. Only after did she stand up for herself did he show his true character to her which lead to him [striking] Janie with all his might. This resistance between the characters deep shows how Judy let his crave for power effect his life. He probably never loved Janie rather he saw her as an object. This reflects how the society of that time saw women. They were items that greater empowered the man they married. The marriage comes to a bitter end as Janie learns that being by herself in the world is not so bad. Overall the search and craving for power can send even the humblest man to extreme hostility. He was not afraid to do whatever it takes to get the high pedestal in life. He controlled other people s lives and property to feel secure in himself. This lead to the power crazed man that Janie ended up marring. He revealed himself to not be the love of Janie s life rather a man who abused her beauty to gain power. The Role of Costume Design in Musical Theater Courtney Cox 5 4 10 THEA 1334 Final Paper Costume Design THE ROLE OF COSTUME DESIGN IN MUSICAL THEATER Imagine a classic Shakespearian play or Italian opera performed in hip hugging jeans or baggy t shirts; or imagine the period musical 1776, produced by the wonderful Stuart Ostrow, performed in the groovy attire of the 1970s. These performances would seem completely out of place and confusing. One would not be able to grasp the completeness of the story or have any understanding of the time period, geographical location, or the character s lifestyles and/or social statuses. As a result, the audience would fail to see certain emotions or feelings portrayed, character personalities, and would find it very difficult be connected to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Defining each character separately allowing the audience the ability to follow a storyline with a conceptualized look defined prior to a performance was, and is needed as part of preproduction preparations. Early performers were generally male, therefore costuming was needed for gender disguise so as to create the illusion of the opposite sex. In Asia, the men would dress up as women. Young men also played women in the plays during the 1500s and 1600s. Many of these young teenage boys were very sickly and often died at a very young age. This was a direct result of skin eating diseases caused by the white, led based face paint they were forced to wear during performances; a very sad and gruesome ending to such a short life. Costuming also helps create other character building imagery such as age. The leading characters will always have more detail and design to make them stand out and relate a sense of trust to the audience. Styles and technique have changed significantly over the centuries but have maintained basic principles of clothing design yet geared towards pushing the out the character s personality and traits in its appearance. Many people simply show up to musicals and often take the costumes for granted and concentrate only the performance of the actors. Many people don t realize the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Biography Of Jeffrey Leonard Resected A Brain Tumor On December 23, 2014, neurosurgeon Jeffrey Leonard resected a brain tumor in a ten year old girl that was previously thought to be inoperable. Although it took two operations, due to modern technology and education Dr. Leonard was successful. The girl fully recovered from surgery and was awake and responsive the next morning. Modern surgeons knowledge of the human brainhas evolved immensely through the ages. The first brain surgeons did not have anywhere near the knowledge that we possess today, but it is because of them that the current treatment of neurological problems is so advanced. Doctors can now perform advanced procedures such as the resection of tumors and clipping of aneurysms all while a patient is numbed and unconscious when previously treatment was a painful shot in the dark. Neurosurgeryhas evolved not only through extensive research of anatomy and a change in religious perspective, but came hand in hand with the development of anesthetics and the world s major advancements in radiology and imaging. Neurosurgery is set apart from every other field because it pertains to the most important part of the body: the brain. If a person s entire body works perfectly with the exclusion of the brain, that person will still never be able to function normally. There is a wide variety of neurological defects that can arise in any one of us including aneurysms, tumors, nerve damage, and strokes. Examples Of Integrity In Goodnight And Goodluck After watching the movie Goodnight and Goodluck directed by George Clooney I think the most important aspect for present day communicators to carry into their work is integrity. I think integrity is important because it is a value that shows your character and personality. During the movie Murrow developed his character by consistently being honest with others and himself. Edward Murrow shows integrity quite often. For example, when McCathy starts making false accusations, Murrow stands up in front of the camera and defends himself by stating facts to prove his innocence. Different Cultures That We May Encounter As Therapists Thus far in the course we have learned how important it is to have basic knowledge on various cultures that we may encounter as therapists. According to Choudhuri, Santiago Rivera, Garrett (2012), culture is defined as the personification of a worldview through learned and transmitted beliefs, religious and spiritual traditions, psychological processes, values, and practices. Moreover, it is a way of life that is shaped by ecological, historical, economic, and political factors on a specific group of people (Choudhur et al., 2012). Sources In terms of sources, I happened to find two interesting articles exploring cultural components of a Spanish supermarket. I choose this article because I was interested in exploring if Spanish food can be healthy or organic. While I was in the market, I saw plenty of vegetables and produce, but I was unsure if there were any organic products. The article explored the view of organic food on the Spanish culture (Vega‐Zamora, Torres‐Ruiz, Murgado‐Armenteros, Parras‐Rosa, 2014). It was viewed as higher value and more expensive product. Due to this view of organic food, consumption is greatly impacted in the Spanish culture. Similar to the article above, I found another article about Spanish culture and food, ... Well not all video games are violent, crime ridden, based off of you killing things. Parents also think that your not socializing with anyone while playing video games.Well There are quite a few games out there that are based off of gamers socializing with other gamers through the game, there are also plenty of games that are based off of strategy, reaction times, and there are some that are proven to help the player become smarter and slow down old age. Are video games bad for you? People say yes because they promote violence, and can kill brain cells. Not all video games promote violence but it also depends on the players view of the game, and them knowing what s real and what s not, and some have been proven to kill brain cells, like some first person shooter games, but not all them. This graph represents how violent games effects the cingulate cortex of the brain, the blue shows the decrease in brain cells, and the red shows the increase in brain cells. But wool will not work in long rainy or snowy weather, so if the winters are wet and snowy where you live, you should also invest in a blower style jacket that is waterproof and filled with some warm material (such as feathers or Down) instead of a synthetic material such as polyester or polyamide. 3. The attempt to create peace by giving Gush Katif to the Palestinians not only did not have that effect, but the exact opposite effect, creating more violence between the Israelis and the Palestinians, as well as a lack of trust between the government and some of the Israeli people. • 14. Digestive System In The Digestive System motility). Digestive System (GI TRACT) The digestive system is an organ system within animals, it s primary purpose is to break food down into nutrients, which can be absorbed into the body to provide energy and expel the remaining waste as faeces and urine. The gastrointestinal (GI) tract consists of the pharynx, oesophagus, stomach, small intestines and the large intestines all of which play a vital role in helping the body digest food and remove waste. Food moves through the GI tract via peristalsis. Peristalsis is the contraction of the smooth muscles wall along the digestive tract which drives food into various compartments of the GI tract. Peristalsis is initiated once food enters the oesophagus, food is then transported to the stomach, peristalsis then continues in the small intestines where most digestion and absorption of nutrients into the blood takes place. Peristalsis ends at the large intestines, this is where majority of water and some vitamins are absorbed from the remaining waste material (Tortora Derrickson, 2013). Oesophagus The oesophagus is a muscular tube which transports food from the pharynx to the stomach. It is approximately 18 26 cm long, extending from the upper sphincter to the lower sphincter, it s also lined with mucosa. The sphincters are normally closed as they act as valves. The upper sphincter opens after swallowing to allow the entry of food into the oesophagus, whereas the lower sphincter is found at the entrance to the stomach. It opens ... Anxiety (Social Phobia) Anxiety disorders affect more than 40 million adults in the U.S., with about 15 million of those suffering from acute social phobia, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. The drug, which has a unique mechanism of action, is administered in an intranasal spray and acts with rapid onset on peripheral receptors from nasal chemosensory neurons that act on the hypothalamic limbic system in the brain, which is thought to be the primary center of emotion. In clinical trials, it was shown to improve social performance and social interaction anxiety within 10 minutes of administration. Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) ADHD is one of the most common reasons children in the United States are referred for mental health services and affects as many as one in every 20 children, according to Mental Health America. A potential medicine in development for ADHD is an agonist of neuronal nicotinic receptors (NNR). NNRs serve as key regulators of nervous system functions. When certain neurotransmitters bind to an NNR, the receptor normalizes chemical signaling in the brain, allowing neurons to communicate properly. This results in increased signaling when the nervous system is under stimulated and decreased signaling when the nervous system is overstimulated. A new drug with a nonstimulant mechanism of ... To do so, they must look back hundreds of years to each event and somehow answer the question, why did this happen? Of these historians, three include Frederick Jackson Turner, who believed that the western frontier movements were the cause to many events, Richard Hofstadter, who believed that small groups impacted American politics, and Charles Beard, who felt that the constitution was written for other reasons than many people thought. In his essay, he states The rising steam navigation on western waters, the opening of the Erie Canal, and the westward extension of cotton culture added five frontier states in this period (Turner). Turner uses several different events and connects it to the advancement on the frontier. These are not the only events that he manages to link the frontier to, as he explains more at a later point in his essay. In Hofstadter s essay on the paranoid style , Hofstadter uses three events but does not clearly link them to his theory. As an example, he uses the Illuminati and Masonry as an event to connect things together but only really explains the history behind this (Hofstadter). He never states how these were affected by his paranoid style . As well as Hofstadter, Beard did a similar thing in his essay. Beard s idea was that the Constitution was written for a different purpose than many people think but he rarely mentions what this purpose was. Beard does state that the underlying purpose of the Constitution was not the establishment of popular government by means of parliamentary majorities (Beard). Although this answers to his idea, this is the only time in the entire essay where this is mentioned. In every other part, Beard is explaining the process of writing the Constitution at the Convention and how the Articles of Confederation had caused nothing but harm to the new ... Although there are many upgrades that can improve speed, you also need to improve down force and weight reduction to reach maximum potential. If the three of these are not done, then when reaching high speeds the vehicle may flip because it does not have the proper down force it needs to hold it to the ground. When the car has too much weight it could keep it from reaching the highest possible speedit can handle. So how can we first improve speed? To most people, speed is the only thing a car or truck needs to win a race. One way to help enhance the speed is to add a multitude of parts, some of which are as follows: Super charger, nitrous, turbo, and performance chips. These are just a few of the many options one may run into. Super chargers increase the power of an engine (Harris, William). They do this by increasing the pressure or density of air supplied to an internal combustion engine. Another way that is also cheaper than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scene does not have much action to it besides the rookie Batman almost throwing one of teens off a fire escape then saving him and fighting off the other two accomplices. After Batman defeats them and saves the other boy he lies on the ground for a bit and mentally scolds himself for being a lucky amateur . The scene in the original comic is much more different as Wayne s emotions, feelings, observations, the context of actions, and his pain are much more apparent. They are portrayed through Wayne s first person narration which is where most of the visual and mental content comes from in the scene, all of which is almost inexistent during the scene in the animated version. Instead of slowly uncovering something else Batman was feeling during that scene through his first person narration, all that was compressed and saved for when Wayne is on the ground scolding himself. The original scene was filled with emotional and narrative context and when compared to the brief scene from the movie, which still makes its point, the comic simply blows the movie out of the ... Feet throbbed, shins burned, knees felt swollen from the rhythmic beating they were being subjected to. The less talented runners struggled to stay with the group, the more capable ones yearned to be released from the slow moving herd. Both had one thing in common; they could not wait for this run to be over. Most members of the militarycan relate intimately to the scenario previously described. What most of them may not now, however, is that there is a better way for them to develop their runningskills and overall fitness level without having to drudge through the grueling monotony that is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A military.com article by Stew Smith details, We know that hard heel strikes are a result of over striding and can lead to many foot, knee, and shin injuries. Also the heel strike in front of the body can limit your momentum and slow you down significantly. (Smith) The current military mindset places much more emphasis on the do and not nearly enough on the how . Most adults have adopted poor running form over years of drawing upon techniques that they ve heard somewhere, not knowing the validity of the information they are trusting. There is a tendency to overthink how to run which leads to implementation of poor mechanics and form. In comparison, watching a young child run will typically demonstrate the unaltered natural running form that the body was designed for. Unfortunately, it is very difficult for an adult to unlearn bad habits. Instead, it is necessary to learn new techniques and practice them until they become natural again. There are numerous training classes and drills becoming readily available to service members to develop, or fix their running form. Studies have already shown a reduction in the number of injuries being sustained from physical training at several military installations. Many physical therapy programs have adopted the POSE running technique and are incorporating it in the Army s Master Fitness Trainer course at installations across the world in an effort to educate the community on proper form and injury prevention. The last key to increased performance and longevity is routine stretching drills. Along with form drills, stretching and flexibility drills also promote greater muscular recovery and development in addition to increased injury prevention. Essentially, if the military is going to remain steadfast in its dedication to conducting daily physical training, they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The following year Charles Clay attempted another hysterectomy procedure and almost succeeded, but the patient died post operatively after fifteen days having fallen out of bed. Nevertheless, Ellis Burnham from Lowell, Massachusetts successfully achieved the first abdominal hysterectomy, but diagnosis was wrong, he thought he was removing an ovarian cyst. However, Kimball who was also from Massachusetts carried out the first hysterectomy for a fibroid tumour with the patient surviving the operation. The most common reason for performing hysterectomy is to cure uterine fibroids, but however, The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) stated that total abdominal hysterectomy should be considered as a last option for fibroids and that woman should be told about other treatments which are less drastic surgical procedures. Fat is not bad but an important part of everyone s nutritional needs. Despite the fact that fat is high in calories, there are many health benefits that come from them. In proper balance and moderation, they will aid you in your training regimen and get you stronger, more defined and keep you healthy. 1.Energy during Exercise Twenty minutes into a workout and it feels like you hit a wall. Energy levels drop and so does your performance. By adding a small amount of fat to your pre workout protein shake, when the carbohydrates run out at the twenty minute mark, the body can then start to burn the fat. The carb crash causes an increase of insulin in the blood stream followed by a rapid decrease in blood sugar when the carbs are all used up. When fat burns, the body does not release extra insulin and give you a sustained level of energy. 2.Hormones Both men and women each have certain amounts of both testosterone and estrogen in their bodies. The cholesterol found in saturated fats produces hormones. Not only does the saturated fat help produce hormones, it helps to balance them or to raise the testosterone levels. An increase in testosterone helps to build muscles. With more muscle mass the body burns more fat. 3.Improve Vitamin and Supplement Absorption There are two kinds of vitamins: water soluble and fat soluble. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This raises the question; Is the role of the villain in Hollywood important for a successful movie? In the movie industry, the success of a movie is based on the amount of revenue the movie brings in, creativity (whether it be time frame or characters), and the story line of the movie. On the other hand, images themselves offer words that do not have to be written. However, every author is unique in how they choose to narrate and they must be unbiasedly treated as so. To compare the differentiating styles that can be found in narrative, this essay will attempt to analyze the relationship between image and text in Sebald s The Rings of Saturn , and how either allows the readerto evoke similar emotions. Sebald has made it seem as though image and text consisted of a tight bond that would otherwise fail if separated. For example, particular photographs within The Rings of Saturn are barely legible, creating a sense that something is missing and the reader s job is to find it. His purpose here gives the impression that one is to diminish their confidence in visual representation. Sebald wants his readers to question image without textual depictions in order for them to understand that one cannot exist without the other, but also to explore various forms this relationship can express. When studying art or photography, an image itself holds the possibility that an individual can analyze it without textual support. From a writer s standpoint, it would seem common sense to utilize images that will not overwhelm the narrative, in order to not draw to much attention to the image rather than the text. Effects Of Sondheim s Nonconformity On Musical Theatre Sondheim s Nonconformity and Its Effect on Musical Theatre Musical theatre performance, which presents fictional plots and impresses audiences with show stopping dance and song, unites dramatic works across the globe. American musical theatre, specifically, draws inspiration from European straight plays, burlesques, and operas, while dramatizing American topics. Nineteenth century musical comedies use entertaining situations, rather than plot, to frame performances involving song, dance, and humor. For example, George M. In contrast to early American musical comedies, whose songs separate the characters from the action, Sondheim carefully crafts his songs, with every word serving both the actor and the audience. When writing a musical, he thinks as the character, attempting and usually succeeding at portraying his situation. As Arthur Laurents, one of his collaborators, said, Steve...is the only lyricist who almost always writes songs for the characters they are written for (Michener 384). Since he writes the songs for the characters, each word has a specific purpose, but he still puts a twist on established devices of musical theatre. Musical theatre often contains rhyme, but Sondheim s rhymes provide emphasis because all rhymes draw attention to the rhymed word (Sondheim, Finishing the Hat, xxvii). Since the songs words signify a profound amount of meaning, Sondheim makes sure that the lyrics and rhythms work for the character and the actor. Getting Married Today in Company demonstrates this particularity. On Amy s wedding day, she experiences doubt in marrying Paul, expressed through a fast paced frenzy of thoughts and emotions. So that this whirl of emotions does not become too chaotic, Sondheim s word choice allows the actress playing Amy to capitalize on every word, as he calculates the song to alternate vowel and consonant sounds in such a way as to make them easy for the tongue, teeth, and breath to articulate (184). Thus, every word in Getting Married Today has a specific purpose, unlike the lyrics of other musicals without such a careful word choice. (2007) [5]proposed a novel clustering associating algorithm, known as Energy Residue Aware (ERA)clustering algorithm, to prolong the lifetime of a sensor network by balancing the energy consumption of the entire network.ERA enables each sensor to associate its cluster head to find a path with maximum energy residue sum instead of a path with the minimum energy consumption as many energy efficient routing protocols have been proposed in sensor networks for different scenarios and various applications in literature. One of the efficient way is to group sensors in the neighbouring into clusters and send aggregate data by a designated cluster head. The fourth step in making a venue selection is agreeing on price and terms. This step involves negotiating the best deal possible. In our fundraising event, we are hoping to negotiate a lower rate for university venues, since the event will directly benefit the university. If this is not the case, we may need to negotiate with other venues to get the best value possible. The fifth step involves making a booking and confirmation. After making a booking, the organizer should receive a contract proving the facility is booked, dates and times booked, payments required, and other contractual details (Selecting the venue, 2018). The Hawk Hoops event organizers should promptly book the facility once a decision is made. They must also ensure the contract confirmation is received shortly after booking the venue for evidence in the event of a dispute. • 39. The Hyksos This essay will discuss the conquering of Upper Egypt 200 year ruling and adaptation of the Hyksos over Egypt, during the second intermediate period. At the end of the twelfth dynasty after the reign of Sobekkare, there was a short time(period) where Egypt had no ruler because there was no heir to the throne. Unexpectedly from a region East to (of) Egypt, invaders of unknown ethnicity marched into Egypt with confidence. They easily seized it without striking a blow (Van Seters p.15). According to Manetho, they overpowered the rulers of the land, burned the cities, and tore many monuments down ruthlessly. They treated the civilians harshly, massacring many, and leading many others into slavery; eventually they took over the empire, making... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They used these weapons to take control over Upper Egypt. However once they did take control, they brought these weapons into the Egyptian way of war, they taught the Egyptians how to use and build them. Eventually after 200 years of ruling over Egypt they would be pushed out and defeated by the Egyptians using these weapons. It seems as thought the Hyksos were able to easily take over Upper Egypt for two reasons; their superior military advancements and the perfect timing, during a political weakness. But it is possible that another factor may have facilitated this conquering as well. There is another theory, which suggests that; the whole area was infected by plague, perhaps this is what is meant by the smiting of god (Van Seters p.203). If the Hyksos were to march into Upper Egypt at this time, there would be no one to stop them from taking over. Which is why there is little to no evidence of war during this time. Apophis was the Final Hyksos leader, he was a great king, who had great wealth and a great reputation, and perhaps this is what drove the Egyptians to take back Lower Egypt. The end of the Hyksos ruling began with the Egyptian ruler Seqenenre, who directed a campaign against the Hyksos from Thebes. Apophis sent Seqenenre a letter claiming the hippopotami of Thebes were disgraceful, bellowing so loudly that he could not sleep . (Watterson, p.58) These inevitably sent Egypt into a revolution. ... Nerds And Geeks Perception Of Masculinity In Society When we hear the words nerds and geeks, it is often those studious, witty, socially awkward, scrawny and wimpy or sometimes chubby guys that may come to mind. What purpose does your average geek serve to society? Beyond the fact of knowledge some may find useless, making great group partners (carrying the majority of group workload), and being the butt end of endless jokes and bullying, what importance do they hold? Society yells without speaking that we need more men compared to nerds and geeks. This creates the belief that anything associated with femininity is not to be associated with masculinity. • 41. The Pros And Cons Of Advertisement As decades pass, advertisement and marketing methods are constantly evolving. Companies will lure buyers in with methodical discrete messages that are unrecognizable to readers. They will use a person s morals or values to attract their attention and create ingenious perspectives on common standards of the time period. Even children toy advertisements have underlying meanings; companies pay close attention to the smallest details and make sells by evoking a child to nag their parents to purchase their product. Like many toy companies, Fisher Price created a magazine ad in the 1980 s that displayed a shift in the typical roles of men and women in a household. Fisher Price released an appealing advertisement in 1987 for their Magic Vac, a battery free toy vacuum for children to enjoy. The main focal pointof the ad is the illustration of the boy vacuuming the house while the girl sits in a chair reading a newspaperwith her shoes off. Prior to the 1980s, the emblematic standard for women was to take care of the house and raise the children while the husband worked during the day. In the 80s, women began working outside of the homeand bringing in an income, this did not make them inferior to their husbands, but it did make some men uncomfortable. They were uncertain about the idea of their wife working and splitting household duties. Normally, men would come home from work and sit in their recliners with their feet propped up and shoes off reading the newspaper; the wives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Summary Of Thomas Hardy s The Darkling Thrush Following the Second Industrial Revolution, the issue regarding the effects of climate change on the natural environment has initiated a significant concern within both past and current participants of society. In The Darkling Thrush, which Thomas Hardy wrote during the prime industrialization of society, the environmental atmosphere is characterized as both ghostlike and dead while the species surrounding the environmentare depicted as being poorly affected by the change in climate. The ongoing societal and scientific concern regarding the damaging effects of climate change allows us to perceive Hardy s The Darkling Thrush as a depiction of the severe consequences of human carbon pollutionon both the environment and the foundations of life surrounding it. In Julie Kerr Casper s nonfiction book Fossil Fuels and Pollution: The Future of Air Quality, the collective societal acceptance of alternatives to human labor is argued as one of the most prevalent factors contributing to climate change since the Second Industrial Revolution. Such alternatives during this period included the burning of fossil fuels, which were burned to produce electricity, to heat and cool buildings, and to power machines. The idea of burning coal seemed to be a somewhat appealing alternative to human labor at the time, and as technology advanced, more products were developed to replace human labor (Casper 66). Casper demonstrates that although the discovery of burning coal meant more efficiency ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This dichotomy correlates to idea of separation, or even conflict, between mind and body. Are the two separate, or are they symbiotic, and entirely dependent on each other? Just as some people believe that meditation can clarify or synchronize the mind and body, my work is a process that symbolically expresses trauma, disease, and death, beyond what is apparent from a physical body, bringing about a similar synchronization. Recently, I have been exploring Francisco J. Varela s ideas of the portable laboratory. He said, Human beings in their embedded, situated life, constitute a de facto topographical place (the body, the self) where procedures and gestures can be carried out to directly explore the human experience itself (the quest). 1 In my practice, I seek to explore both the physical and psychological aspects of trauma and healing. As I have continued with my own exploration, I have expanded my research to include ideas from philosophy and science as well as art. The contemporary philosopher, Susan J. Brison has been a great influence in my practice. One quote that has inspired much of my work comes from her book, Aftermath: Violence and the Remaking of a Self. She said, We are our molecules; our deepest fears, joys, and desires are embodied in the chemical signals of our neurotransmitters. But we are also creators of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The use of effective lighting in the scenes is essential to ensure that the scene is shot properly and the message is communicated effectively. In this project we have discussed a story, which has a grim message, and thus the lightingeffects have all been made accordingly. The story being projected here is the ill effects of drug addiction and the fact that drugs would ultimately lead to death. The projection of the story needs a grim background and hence the lighting effects would all be of a night effect (Brown, 2013). The first scene that will be shot is that of Calum, the protagonist, in his bedroom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He walks towards the toy and finds a bottle of alcohol. Here the lights would be stronger to illustrate that he has found joy in intoxication, but however in the background a cars noise is heard and the lights are turned on to illustrate a car that is approaching towards Calum. As he bends down to pick up the bottle the car is about to hit him at a high speed (Grodal, 2005). In this scene the sepia effect would be used to illustrate a figure that is carrying a baby in its arm and the lights would be focused on the hooded figure. The symbolic evidence of this scene is death carrying away Calum, who is as immature as a baby and does not know how to differentiate between good and bad. The choice between the toy and the alcohol is symbolic of this fact and this illustrates the mental status of youth today, who are into drugs and alcohol for fun . The car hits Calum and the lights are turned off. This is the end of this scene and the darkness is representative of the wrong choice that Calum has made. In this scene bright lights would be used as Calum wakes up in the graveyard for the third time and follows the mystery figure. He is about to reach the figure when suddenly the scene is shifted to his apartment and he is about to put his hand on the door handle. Here bright lights will be used and Calum opens the door after hearing sounds of choking and gagging. Lights are turned down and Calum sees himself lying on the bed overdosed (Hayward, ... As you can see from this graph, 66% of sports injuries occur in the form of diving accidents, while I am part of the 3.8% of snow skiing accidents. Now that I have shared a brief overview of the spinal cord and some statistics about spinal cord injuries, we will look at the past research that has led to the treatments most commonly used today. In 1990, a steroid called dexamethasone was discovered in human trials to preserve some motor and sensory function if administered at high doses within 8 hours of injury. Surgery used to remove fluid, tissue, or bone fragments, or to stabilize fractured vertebrae by fusing bones or inserting hardware has also proven to be one of the most thorough measures to prevent further harm. I received both of these treatments after my accident, and they are the same that have been used for the past decade. Until recently, doctors had no way of limiting such disabilities, aside from stabilizing the cord to prevent added destruction, treating infections, and prescribing rehabilitative therapy to maximize any remaining capabilities. Within the past few years, however, scientists have made many new advancements. The United States Food and Drug Administration has approved 2 electronic systems that regulate muscles by sending electrical signals through implanted wires, called functional electrical stimulation (FES). Some proteins have been found to promote nerve growth and restore limb function and sensation when administered directly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Swat Team Research Paper America was first introduced to the first SWAT teams in the year of 1966. SWAT, which first stood for Special Weapons Attack Team, and then was later changed to Special Weapons and Tactics, was founded by Daryl Gates who was a police commander for the Los Angeles Police Department. SWAT teams are different from regular law enforcement in the fact that they are far more advanced and handle far more advanced and dangerous situations. They use more powerful weapons and more experienced policing tactics. They could be considered the elite members of law enforcement. SWAT teams do not just deal with the normal criminal. They handle the extreme criminals who often defy law enforcement. SWAT teams were founded in an effort the lower the massively high crime rate that was dominating the late 1990s. The case demonstrates that there several adjustments that need to be completed with Virtual Technology. These changes to this form of technology present an integrating end to the traditional method for shopping in the business sector. America Is A Leading Political And Economic Superpower America is a leading political and economic superpower, most known for being the largest democracy and being founded with unreplaceable views of freedom, civil liberties, and the iconic American dream. Despite these great accomplishments, there is a growing problem in America that if not handled will be the greatest mistake in American history. Strict regulation on campaign contributions is necessary because they go against core principles of democracy including, encouraging abuse of power, decreasing political participation, and promoting an increase in political and financial inequality between the extremely rich and the rest of Americans. Big campaign donations promote corruption. This is known and yet nothing is done about these giant anti democracy rulings. In 2010 The Supreme court case Citizens United v. FEC ruled that campaign funding is protected as a form of free speech which broadens an already ridiculously unclear policy. One giant problem with this is that PACs and other individuals or organizations can receive and donate as much money as needed if they vow to spend the money independently from campaigns. These donors expect reimbursement. In America today, we are seeing a rapid increase of special interests infringing on the political process and this has to stop. Supporters of loose campaign finance regulations argue that donations are a form of protected free speech. They believe regulation should not interfere with the general gratitude a candidate ...
