This paper explores related research in aspects of language acquisition, specifically,
reading instruction and its effect on students who live in low socioeconomic
environments. We will review the methods of explicit phonics and whole language to
examine what, if any, is the more advantageous method of reading instruction for
students who live in poverty. The purpose of this literature review is to investigate the
impacts of specific reading instruction on the literacy development of children and
how socioeconomics restricts these impacts. The research reviewed was collected
from peer review journals using the Central Search feature on the UCO Chambers
Library website. The majority of the researcher s findings came from EBSCOhost
Education Research Complete and JSTOR: Journal Storage. Given the findings of
this literature review, research suggests that explicit phonics instruction, when
embedded in a whole language classroom, promotes growth in literacy skills among
young children. Research suggests that multisensory phonics, based on Orton

There is the need to select and include, in biomarker research studies, only well
characterized and high quality samples with a documented sample collection and
handling. Our study undelines the importance of a standardized protocol, based
on some specific procedure of sample collection and storage, in order to have a
successful biomarkers analysis. Moreover, it has been highlighted how MALTI
TOF MS analysis of specific proteins could suggest the selection of the best pool of
samples for a powerful biomarker study. We retain that DASQ needs to be used to
screen the samples to be enrolled in order to reduce the number of false positives in
biomarker discovery. Due to the characteristics of MALDI, faster and less expensive

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. This old adage
is repeated on children s playgrounds across the country in the face of bullying and
name calling. What happens when the names actually do hurt the child emotionally,
leading to physical self harm? In a study of transgender youth conducted by
Cincinnati Children s Hospital Medical Center, 30% of respondents said they have
attempted suicide in their lifetime. Many negative factors have influenced
transgender individuals into being more at risk for suicide, including bullying,
harassment, and shame. Whenever the topic of bullying comes up, people
normally imagine the isolated incidents of kids being pushed down in the
schoolyard, rarely thinking of verbal harassment. In the 2015 U.S. Transgender
Survey, 54% of transgender respondents in grades K 12 have been victims of
verbal harassment, revealing the troubling reality that more than half of transgender
youth are verbally attacked before the age of 18. Verbal harassment induces self
loathing and reduces the chance of the child ever feeling accepted. One way to
prevent the problem of transgender youth being bullied is to try to influence children

Air Defense In Vietnam War
Over the years, America has been involved in numerous conflicts. One of the most
controversial has been the Vietnam War. Even though the United States Military
failed in its efforts in the war against Vietnam, the military has learned valuable
lessons about our forces during the conflict. Anti Aircraft weapons were used during
the Vietnam War, and their capabilities have increased over time to become what is
now called Air Defense. Air Defense s equipment, units, and personnel played a

The greatest encounter by an Air Defense Artillery unit would be the ambush on
route nine. Route 9 began at Dong Ha on highway one and ran parallel to the
DMZ, it travelled west through Camp J.J. Carroll and ended at the Marine combat
base at Khe Sanh. (Sill www.army.mil, 2017). At 1140 hours on Jan. 24, 1968, a
two truck convoy traveling from Camp Carroll to Cam Lo along route nine began
receiving small arms fire. Upon arrival, the occupants of both vehicles warned a
convoy pulling out of Cam Lo about the enemy fire that they were receiving, but

convoy approached a bridge across Mieu Giang River where the enemy had
planned an ambush, being attacked by small arms fire, recoilless rifles, and RPGs.
Shocked by the incoming fire the convoy stopped and took cover along the road.
Realizing that a convoy was pinned down the 4th Marines quickly organized a
reaction force of one Marine platoon supported by two M 48 tanks and two of

wounded. The two vehicles proceeded toward the kill zone when attacked by hidden
