To Kill A Mockingbird Movie Review Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of a "To Kill A Mockingbird Movie Review" can be quite
challenging due to various factors. Firstly, it requires a comprehensive understanding of both the
novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee and its cinematic adaptation. Analyzing the
transition of literary elements to the visual medium demands a keen eye for detail and an ability
to discern the director's choices.
Moreover, one needs to delve into the nuances of the characters, their development, and how the
actors portray them on screen. This task requires a deep appreciation of the source material and
an astute observation of the film's interpretation.
Discussing the cinematography, soundtrack, and overall directorial approach adds another layer
of complexity. Balancing the technical aspects with the thematic elements, and exploring how
they contribute to the storytelling, necessitates a high level of critical analysis.
Furthermore, capturing the essence of the socio-cultural and historical backdrop against which
the story unfolds is vital. Addressing the film's impact on the audience and its relevance in
contemporary society requires a thoughtful exploration of broader themes.
In conclusion, crafting a comprehensive and insightful essay on a "To Kill A Mockingbird Movie
Review" is indeed a challenging task that demands a multidimensional approach. It necessitates a
deep understanding of literature, film analysis skills, and the ability to connect both mediums
within a broader socio-cultural context.

The Consequences Of Jutigment In Twelve Angry Men
In society, we have an obligation to our community to defend it by using judgment
to determine a person s innocence or guilt. It is a civic responsibility to make an
informed decision that is determined based on evidence to help come to a logical
conclusion. This essay argues that judgment in Twelve Angry Men is addressed by
the jurywho think rationally against a 16 year old kid facing the death sentence.
It looks at the gender and ethnicity of the jury and suggests that the environment the
jurors are placed in forwards their own judgment on themselves, making judgment
become an empathetic experience.
The placement of 12 men in a jury shows inconsistency towards female s input
upon what judgment should be made for the accused. Inserting 12 men together
only evokes testosterone against one another affecting their critical thinking and
causing drama. For Juror, 7 judgment is a fast process and is addressed in the
drama as Rose (121) states that, 7th Juror, Listen, I ll tell you something. I m a
little sick of this whole thing already. All this yakkin s gettin us nowhere so I m
going to break it up here. I m changing my vote to not guilty. 11th Juror, What kind
of man are you? You have sat here and voted guilty with everyone else because there
are some baseball tickets burning a hole in your pocket .
The drama is now directed away from the accused of murder and now towards Juror
7 that shows irony towards the relevance of importance. It is from the example above

Coral Reef Impact
According to NOAA a coral reef is a ridge of rock in the sea formed by the growth
and deposit of coral. Stony coral polyps secrete a calcium carbonate skeleton that
over many years builds up to create the foundation which all coral lives on. These
limestone remains are the building blocks for coral colonies supporting millions of
polyps which can weigh several tons. Having said that, coralreefs grow very slowly
about 0.5cm 2cm per year, meaning that all damage and death coral colonies
experience will take a long time to repair. (NOAA 2)
Humans tendency to live near the ocean can have substantial negative consequences
on the reef. Water quality decreases due to sewage leakage, agricultural run off and
other types of groundwater pollution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Drawing And Drawing Essay
When most people think about the first things they really enjoyed doing as
children, drawing is one of the first things that come to mind. Not only is it one of
the first things human beings enjoy doing, but it is also one of the first things they
are taught how to do. Schools first educated children in how to draw simply to
show the children that it is encouraged to have an imagination and it is acceptable to
illustrate their imagination for others to see. Drawing is emboldened by not only
teachers and elders, but is also stimulated and inspired by a person s peers. Peers
have a great influence as they push one another to become more superior and efficient
than one another. Additionally, it is important to note that engineers often find
themselves in situations where peers push them to design and redesign their own
inventions. As engineers refine their abilities to draw and to design, they further
lengthen the drawing and designing process. Furthermore, as an engineer becomes
better at designing and drawing they not only become more detailed, but also draw a
design and redraw it in many different ways just to find the most efficient and best
design. The best engineers are often the most detailed artists; this can be seen from
many famous engineers, such as Leonardo Da Vinci. From the life of Da Vinci and
many other famous engineers, it is quite obvious that drawing is a quintessential
component to being a good engineer. Every engineer must hone their drawing skills

Introduction
Dave Egger s The Circle strongly attacks The silicon Valley Cult that advocates
forgiving people s right of privacy and absolute obedience with a story. In the novel, a
woman called Mae is recruited by a tech firm called The Circle. In the company,
Mae is encouraged and even commanded to sacrifice her right of privacy to
subordinate to the overall interest of The Circle. The essay aims to reveal the how
and to what extent does The Circle persuades its employees to give up their right
of privacy. And then, the nature essence of this behavior of The Circle would be
discussed. In fact, this behavior of The Circle is the ignorance of people s privacy
right and the reflection of interest first . What s more, the advantages and
disadvantages of The Circle s deprivation of its employees privacy right to both of
the firm and the people will be analyzed with several evidences in the novel.

Homeless Students in Modern Society
What do you think of when you hear the word homeless? Maybe you think of the
people begging for work on the side of the streets. You might imagine drug addicts

The London Blitz Essay
In September of 1940 through May of 1941 there was a strategic bombing attack
that was lead by the Germans targeted towards London and other cities located in
England, this was known as The Blitz. The Germans aimed the bombs mostly at
populated cities, dock yards, and factories.
The bombing on London began on September 7, 1940 and lasted for 57
consecutive nights. During these nights of bombing people took shelter in warehouse
basements, and in underground subway stations with no privacy and poor sanitation
facilities.

Between five and six o clock on the evening of Saturday 7th September, some
320 German bombers supported by over 600 fighters flew up the Thames and
proceeded to bomb Woolwich Arsenal, Beckton gas Works, a large number of
docks, West Ham Power Station, and then the city, Westminster and Kensington.
They succeeded in causing a serious fire situation in the docks. An area about 1ВЅ
square miles between North Woolwich Road and the Thames was almost
destroyed, and the population of Silvertown was surrounded by fire and had to be
evacuated by water. At 8.10pm some 250 bombers resumed the attack which was
maintained until 4.30 on Sunday morning. They caused 9 conflagrations, 59 large
fires, and nearly 1,000 lesser fires. Three main line railway termini were put out
of action, and 430 persons killed and some 1,600 seriously injured. After the fire
brigades had spent all day in an effort to deprive the enemy of illumination, some
200 bombers returned in the evening (Sunday 8th) to carry on the assault. During
The Many Benefits of Medicinal Marijuana Essay
The Many Benefits of Medicinal Marijuana
When the religious leaders of Nicholas Copernicus time excommunicated him for his
radical studies, they ignorantly dismissed a brilliant idea. The idea that the earth
revolved around the sun inherently brought controversy upon the traditional styles of
science. A controversy our leaders need to examine is the medical useof marijuana.
Instead of banning marijuana and ignoring the public voice, our representatives need
to examine the facts and effects of marijuana for medical use. Like Copernicus idea
that revolutionized science, changing the way we treat our sick and suffering will
benefit our society. The effects of legalizing marijuana for only medical purposes

Marijuana is one of the least toxic substances in the whole pharmacopoeia, according
to Dr. Lester Grinspoon, Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Cancer,
glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, emphysema, and many others patients could have their
quality of life improved with the help of marijuana (Institute of Medical Marijuana).
The current state of laws forces desperately ill citizens to find relief on the streets
at the risk of being jailed. You never know what potency you are going to get or
where it has come from, stated Joyce Turcotte, a former cancer patient who took the
advice of her doctor. Her doctor told her to smoke the drug if she has access to it.
Currently, the federal government is attacking chronically ill patients for the
recommended use of marijuana. McWilliams is currently facing the idea that he
might spend the next ten years in jail. The problem arose when he vocalized his
means of aquiring the drug. The U.S. attorney in Los Angeles is working on the
prosecution right now (National Review).
Of all the negative consequences of prohibition, none is as tragic as the denial of
medicinal marijuana to the tens of thousands of seriously ill patients who could
benefit from its therapeutic use (http://natlmorml.org/medical/index.html). The
effects of suppressing and penalizing a treatment drug have and will continue to have
negative consequences in our society. The gateway reputation marijuana has
Failure of the Revolution in Animal Farm Essays
The animals in the book Animal Farm hoped to achieve unity, equality. trust/truth,
prosperity, better quality of life, freedom and individuality, in terms of the revolution.
This was achieved at the beginning of the revolution, which made it a success, but in
the end the revolution was a failure.
The farm, in many ways, was very prosperous when the revolution began. The
animals were given an education, the reading and writing classes were however a
great success, which made them feel equal to the humans because they were now
learning in the same way the humans did. The farm was becoming more prosperous

Singing Beasts of England continually unified the animals. Even when the animals
received no orders, without waiting for further orders, they charged forth in a body,
they unified to fight the enemy and protect their home.
The animals quality of life, did also improve for a little while. They were able to be
their own bosses, no more Jones, and worked for themselves. Since they were now
motivated, they worked harder, worked according to their own capacity, thus the
amount of food they received increased since they did not have to sell it.
This all went very well for a while, but the revolution then took a drastic downfall.
The animal s freedom and individuality was slowly taken away. Napoleon took the
dogs freedom away by making them bow, and obey him only. The animals also
began to have no freedom of speech, raised their voices timidly but they were
promptly silent by a tremendous growling, which shows us that the farm was no
longer run by all the animals but rather by the pigs, anything they say is right and
you may not argue. The animals no all had to be the same, which can be taken as
equality, but it was taken to the extreme. The animals had to call each other,
comrade, and they weren t even allowed to stick out in the smallest ways, Molly s
ribbons were taken, which was fine at first but then slowly the animals started
forgetting who they were.

How Does Steinbeck Characterize George In Of Mice And

In Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck characterizes George as an important character that
affects the characters around him through the use of direct and indirect
characterization. When Steinbeck reveals that George was small and quick, dark of

details that visually represents his physical looks and the contrast to his best friend,

Steinbeck indirectly characterizes George as an uneducated man through the fact
that George and Lennie say words like ain t and di n t, the use of low level diction,
and the dialect language in the novella. Throughout the novella, even though George

Analysis Of `` Savage Inequalities `` By Jonathan Kozol
Essay
Martin Luther once said, When schools flourish, all flourishes. Schools are the
institutions where students foundations for lifelong success are built. One would
think, or at least hope, that sixty years after the Brown v. Board of Education
decision, all schools in America would be flourishing or near flourishing. How
wonderful would it be, if politicians and other people in power realized how true
Martin Luther s words were. Unfortunately, this is not the case. As Jonathan Kozol
explicitly depicts in his 1991 novel, Savage Inequalities, inequality in American
public schools still exists despite segregation being outlawed. Even though this book
was written twenty five years ago, it still applies to this day. There are many schools
in America that are still segregated, and the complete opposite of flourishing. This is
due to one main reason: inadequate funding. There is a tremendous amount of
inequality in funding between the poor, cityschools, and the affluent, suburban
schools. Kozol explores these various schools in his novel, and demonstrates how by
underfunding schools that are in dire need of funds, we are essentially setting up our
future generations for failure. We are inhibiting them from reaching their potentials
and showcasing their talents. We ourselves are ripping their chances of a bright
future out of their hands. We are allowing our society to believe segregation in
schools is ok.

Catholic Church During The Fifteenth Century
The Catholic Church during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries was plagued by
internal corruption that caused discontent among its followers. The church beginning
in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries increasingly became a system in which
aristocrats were able to increase their wealth. In large numbers these aristocrats
began to occupy the highest offices available to the Catholic clergy. However, for
many aristocrats holding just one high office was not enough to satisfy their desire
for increased wealth. This greed led to the practice of pluralism, which was the
holding of multiple church offices by one individual. These aristocrats often times
would then hire an underqualified individual to work the office for them. This

Abstract
Here we report the fabrication of a flexible all carbon field effect transistor (FET)
using a low cost, recyclable and biodegradable cellulose paper as both substrate as
well as dielectric and pencil graphite as source, drain, channel and gate without
using any other expensive, toxic or non biodegradable materials. The electron and
hole mobility s of FET are observed to be 180 and 200 cm2v 1s 1 respectively
which are comparable to the recently reported values of paper FET with polymer
dielectric and cellulose composite dielectrics. The FET was utilized as a strain
sensor which shows good sensitivity for low strains of both tensile and compressive
type. The mobility of the FET increases with increase in compressive strain and
decreases with increase in tensile strain. The sensitivity of the FET sensor increases
with the increase in the gate voltage.
HERE YOU CAN MAKE A COMMENT ON HOW THIS STRAIN SENSOR IS
BETTER THAN SILICON STRAIN SENSORS IN PERFORMANCE.
Further we investigated the performance of the sensor by integrating it with hand
gloves to detect human motion. The results obtained indicate that the sensor can be

The Between India And India
In the early sixteenth century, India stayed divided up into independent kingdoms
until 1526. In 1526, a Mughal emperor conquered the northern and central
hemispheres of India and forced everyone under his rule. Many recognize him as the
first Muslim emperor rule to India and he influenced the Mughal title in a superlative
way. One might question how the Mughals in India acquired recognition and fame.
This is because the majority of rulers in the throne ruled exceedingly well and treated
their people with compassion and respect. However, not all of the emperors
possessed that respect. Additionally, some Mughal rulers expressed generosity
towards their subjects religions, while others showed... Show more content on

Akbar, Humayun s son, was fourteen years old, his father managed to regain
control of India, but unfortunately met his expiration when he fell down a set of
stairs, leaving his son in charge of the empire. Akbar, luckily, resembled no
characteristics that his father possessed. The extraordinary emperor expanded his
land tremendously and conquered many countries. Additionally, Akbar treated his
subjects respectfully, careful to meet their needs. He also did not show favoritism
towards Muslims over Hindus. Examples of this are, how he discouraged the
horrific practices of Hindus, and he accommodated the tax rates of the Hindus to
the lower prices the Muslims paid. Also, Akbar even married Hindu princesses and
had children with them. Therefore, this shows that the true nature of this benevolent
emperor is what impacted the empire in an amazing way. Furthermore, Akbar and
his Hindu wife, Jodha gave birth to the next ruler of India, Jahangir. The new
emperor did not acquire his father s ruling skills, for Jahangir continuously lived in
fear of the Persians, who attained a similar army as the Muslims did. Also, he
allowed his wife to take over his world and influence his decisions. Jahangir lived a
life with not much conquering or major historic recollections. After his death, his son

decides to stay with Fred and they embrace each other as the film fades out. The
novel Breakfast at Tiffany s is essentially about finding yourself, and a never ending
journey of self discovery. Not being afraid to go through the changes of life, living,
laughing, loving, losing yourself and finding yourself all over again.

faithful will you be to the original text? What will be some of the film s highlights?
What will the opening sequence be? What music might be used on the soundtrack?
What theme(s) and characters will you focus on to make it relevant to an audience
today?

Lysozyme Activity
| Lysozyme activity| Observed in tears and saliva| | Connie Jamieson| 3/1/2012|

Abstract Lysozyme is an enzyme found in both tears and saliva. Each time we blink
our eyes, our eyelids wash tears over the surface of our eyes. In addition, our mouth
is continually producing saliva. A spectrophotometer set to 450nm was used to
measure the effect of lysozyme on bacteria. The absorbance or optical density was
measured for each sample at specific times with a total measuring time of twenty
minutes. In this experiment, it was shown that lysozyme inhibits microbial growth in
saliva and synthetic tears and in lysozyme standard control. The results showed a
decrease in absorbance readings over time as the lysozyme activity was ... Show more

the mission to the intended outcome. It is through the commander s activities that the
directed outcome is achieved. Through successful understanding, visualizing,

(Samuel Zaffiri) As the commander of the 3/187th BN, LTC Weldon Honeycutt
understood the mission he was given. Hill 937, more commonly referred as
Hamburger Hill, was a key terrain in the A Shau Valley. Securing the hill was not
an option at the time he was given this mission. The terrain and enemy however
made securing this key hill nearly impossible. He was a tough leader and
demanded the most from his troops. Operation Apache Snow was a three phased
campaign to secure the A Shau Valley. The North Vietnamese Army (NVA) used
the Ho Chi Minh Trail in the A Shau Valley to transport supplies from Laos and
Cambodia south to Hue and could easily overrun the South Vietnamese civilian
population. (Battle Staff Paper) The NVA had over 6,000 miles of trails through
the valley and while the US would bomb to destroy these trails the NVA would
simply reroute and rebuild. This led to over 10,000 tons of supplies being moved
through the valley every month. (youtube) LTC Honeycutt was given the brutal
task of securing Hill 937 because of his previous experience. This task started on 10
May 1969 and ended after 11 attempts to secure the hill on 20 May 1969. (Hell on

Essay on Western Influence on Chinese Music
Western Influence on Chinese Music
China has long been the cultural hub of Asia, and has had the longest amount of
contact of any Asian country with other Western countries. Ever since the Silk Road
was established, China has been trading with other Western countries and exchanging
aspects of their cultures with one another. One of these aspects is music. But how
exactly has Western music influenced Chinese music? In order to understand this, we
must look at the history of Western encounters with China in terms of music.
European music was first introduced into China during the thirteenth century, which
was part of the Yuan dynasty of China. Catholic missionaries introduced Western
music to the Chinese imperial court. Soon, the ... Show more content on

She and the Chinese pop music industry flourished in China until the 1950s, when
the Communist regime led by Mao took over. Pop music was replaced with
revolutionary music with government propaganda, which caused the pop industry to
move to Taiwan and Hong Kong. This new musical presence in Hong Kong indirectly
led to the creation of Cantonese popular music, also known as Cantopop.
Cantopop is a style of popular music that emerged during the 1970s. It was
influenced by Western folk rock music of the 1970s, and is set up in a rock band
layout with heavy use of electronic instruments, such as the electric guitar and
synthesizer. Perhaps the most famous Cantopop singer of all time, Teresa Tang,
emerged during the 1980s. Her music touched the hearts of people all over the world,
and caused the Communist regime in China to shift their policy of music from just
supporting government propaganda to include expressing individual emotions. Since
then, many Cantonese pop singers have emerged and this genre remains famous even
today.
While some musicians used Western genres, such as Western pop music and jazz, as
the basis of their music, other musicians stuck with the traditional Chinese music
style while adding Western elements to it. Due to the popularity of Western music in
China, the popularity of traditional Chinese music diminished, and many traditional
Chinese musicians were afraid that traditional music would eventually fade away.

The Internal Influential Factors That Affect College...
Analysis on the internal influential factors that affect college students financial
investment tendency 1. Introduction: Investment can be used to refer to any
mechanism used for the purpose of generating future income. In an economic sense,
an investment is the purchase of non monetary asset that are not consumed today but
are used in the future to create wealth, such as education investment. In finance, an
investment is a monetary asset purchased with the idea that the asset will provide
income in the future or will be sold at a higher price for a profit. College students is a
representative group in current society. To the vast majority of them, college
enrollment may be the first time to experience financial independence without parent
s supervision. With more disposable money from either parents or part time job,
money management appears to be very important for college students. Among
Chinese consumers, college students represent the biggest segment of the total
Internet users (CNNIC, 2013). However, limited research has been conducted to
better understand the financial behavior (e.g. savings and indebtedness) and
tendencies of this special group, since the concern over the role of young consumers
is relatively new. Those who are about to enter into society will add new blood with
great investment potential to financial market. Understanding this group s financial
behavior and tendency are important for marketers to develop strategies to target big

Nicholas II Bloody Sunday Massacre Analysis
This is a page from the diary of Nicholas II after he had been placed under house
arrest by the Bolsheviks in 1917. Nicholas II was not always hated by his people,
and in fact, many Russian citizens once saw him as a father figure in Russia. In
truth, he never intended any malice toward his people, and in his own journal he
regards the Bloody Sunday massacre as a tragedy when he writes, A painful day.
There have been serious disorders in St. Petersburg because workmen wanted to
come up to the Winter Palace. Troops had to open fire in several places in the city;
there were many killed and wounded. God, how painful and sad. His indifference to
politics, however, is something that is almost worse, and ultimately proved to be fatal

Bread Winner Conflict
Informative Essay Bread Winner
The central conflict of the book Bread Winner is a very complicated and dangerous
problem Parvana s family has to face. The main conflict of this story is that the
Taliban banned women from going outside and took away many of their freedom.
These cruel people called the Taliban did not allow women to go outside without
an escort or a man. If they did not follow this law, they would be severely punished.
In the book Bread Winner ,on pg 53, it states, Women were not allowed to go into
the shops. Men were supposed to do all the shopping. This quote means that women
were not allowed to go outside.
The effect the conflict had on Parvana and her family was very effective in a bad way.

Why The Evm Is Not Used For A Important Concept On...
I agree with to begin to collect reasons why EVM it is not used accordingly and
based on that to build up the examples. My first opinion is that EV is an important
concept on measuring the progress of the project, but not well explored as a
significant tool and in such context, I think that by knowing why the EVM is not
used properly can lead toward how to use it. There are cases that PMs know the
conceptbut it is unusable for different reasons as well as there are many cases in
which the concept is not known. So leaving apart the second case, in which the
concept is not known because for my opinion this is the simple case, in my mere
opinion, the reasons why the EVM is not used correctly or it can not be used can be
grouped by:
The project does not have requirements at all.
The requirements change frequently which make absolutely difficult to define
correctly the budget and the schedule.
There are wrong estimations of working packages.
The process of change management doesn t work or is ineffective.
The process of calculation Actual Cost is insufficient (reminding here cost collection).
The incorrect progress of the project.
I am pretty sure that the reasons I mention above can be enriched to a macro level
with many arguments why the phenomena happen. Here below is a couple of
examples of my of my reflections why EVM wasn t used properly:
The scope of Ice on Ice project was the upgrade of the infrastructure of the Call
Centre. Lack of understanding the
Newton s Second Law And The Relationship
Purpose:
The purpose of this Lab was to investigate Newton s second law and the
relationships between: Force and Acceleration, and Mass and Acceleration. Newton s
Second Law states that any object that experiences a net or unbalanced force will
undergo acceleration. Newton s second law of motion describes the relationship
between force and acceleration. If you increase the force applied to an object, the
acceleration of that object increases by the same factor. For Mass and Acceleration
the net force on an object is equal to the mass of the object multiplied by the
acceleration of the object.

On the Topic of Religion(A Focus on Pastafarians) rough draft Hello, madam, have
you accepted our lord and savior, The Flying Spaghetti Monster, into your life? the
man says, a colander on his head, with a vaguely pirate esque accent. Another
annoying pastalatizer arrived at your door. What do you say? Ignore him or hear
him out? Is this man insane, or does he simply see you as someone to prank? Is this
a game? Well, you re answer could be any of the above. In 2005, in a letter to a
governor, a man mentioned a hypothetical Flying Spaghetti Monster, as a way to
dispute creationism. This has been adopted by teenagers, pranksters, atheists, and true
believers alike. The church s website, venganza.org states Some claim that the church
is purely a thought experiment, satire, illustrating that Intelligent Design is not
science, but rather a pseudoscience manufactured by Christians to push Creationism
into public schools. These people are mistaken. The Church of FSM is real, totally
legit, and backed by hard science. Anything that comes across as humor or satire is
purely coincidental. It of course raises the question, when is a religion legitimate? It
s a matter of semantics, really. The real question is not if these are legitimate, but
what do these satirical religions say about our society?. What do these do for
society? They provide a view into the madness that religion itself entails, allowing us
to discern the boundaries that

Many people lost their homes, and students lost their opportunity of education for a

partly because of corruption. Some workers did not do their best to build the

Chongqing and Huabei, the communication was completely jammed. The traffic
network was also disrupted. Many highways or railways were cracked due to great

victims of the earthquake stole or robbed stuff. After the earthquake, there were more
crimes committed by the victims.
On the other hand, the Sichuan Earthquake brought environmental issues. In the
affected areas, clean water was inadequate. When people had to drink contaminated
water, illnesses or diseases may be developed. Also, in the areas, corpses were

temperature, the filthy place set up a good condition for diseases to spread. To make
the affected areas more hygienic, the death bodies must be incinerated, and cleaning
agents like insecticides must be sprayed regularly. Meanwhile, the affected areas
were heavily polluted. The earthquake initiated poisonous gas leakage, explosions or

My Experience Of Riding Horses
I sat perched on a horse, named Sysco, waiting as the rest of the group in the arena

two ears, mane, forelock, and head. The silky mane just waiting to be brushed. The
face that is the best part of a horse, with it s dark, caring eyes waiting to know what
you are about to do, and it s mouth that munches on sweet treats and hay. The bridle
leading to my hands, the horn, and the front of the Western saddle were also in the

I think you are ready to trot, the instructor said.
All the sudden my almost empty mind flooded with thoughts. Were we ready? What
does trotting feel like? Will I be able to get Sysco to trot?
My mind flashed back to a scary moment. A family friend had two horses, but they
were not trained too much. I was riding off a lead line for the first time, and we
were just going around their big house. I was riding Jesse, a coal black coated
horse. I was about to finish a circle when Jesse started going faster. He started
trotting. It was only a few moments, but the trot felt as fast as American Pharoah, the
Triple crown race horse, and as bouncy as popcorn popping in a pan. The trot was
something I wanted to do on purpose, not suddenly.
My horse stood at the arena wall, watching as the instructor showed us how to trot.
You go into a walk, the squeeze your legs until the horse trots, she explained. It is
just like getting into a walk, just starting a gait faster.
I watched as the first person of the group went. Her horse looked beautiful as it
trotted. There is just something about horses when the move, with their gleaming
silky tails flowing out behind them, their body moving with a
Reflection Paper About Stress
For this week s essay I had the ability to learn about stress and the different categories
that people can fall into. People who experience stress more are categorized as type A
people why people who are less prone to these stresses are categorized as type B
people. After talking the quiz I learned that I scored a 267. This places me in the low
type A range. This was little bit of a surprise to me because I don t consider myself to
be an over stressed person. I then thought about what causes me stressand possible
ways of being able to change my life style to help lessen the stress I experience. In
this essay I am going to share about what some of my major stresses are, how I
reduce stress and finally I will share a time when I was more of a type A person than
a type B person.
When it comes to what stresses me in life it is the normal things at many college
students experience. I often find myself worrying about my grades and if I am
doing well in school. One major thing that I often find myself stressing over is if I
am on track to graduate in a decent amount of time. I understand that college is not
something that can be finished over night but I always want to make sure that I
am moving at a decent pace to ensure that I wont be here for ever. To help reduce
this stress I often check my degree audit report to ensure I am on track. Another way
I cope with this concern is by making sure I talk with my advisors when it comes
time to make my schedule for the next semester. I

not themselves, those who work hard and play hard. It was in 10th grade when I first

first two years of high school, I was not concerned on my educationto say the least. I
am ashamed to admit this, but I was more focused on fitting in with a particular

was excited to absorb the new information I was about to learn and be with
individuals who wanted to accomplish as much as I did. However, my dreams
were crushed as quickly as they started. In the following months, I began to realize
that students were not focused on taking advantages of these opportunities. I

People worried about the potato crop. At first, the potatos seemed fine, but after
further examination the potatos were rotten. In October of 1845, Britain s Prime
Minister, Sir Robert Peel, established a scientific commission to discover over half
of Irelands potatos had been ruined by wet rot. The potato crop failed time and time
again. Irish people began to lose hope in receiving better living conditions, but the
shipping lanes opened to America after they had been closed by the war (Philip).
Irish began to think of the American dream and promise.
The American dream and promise changes a nations state of mind. It originally
comes from the Declaration of Independence. The promise is all men are created
equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights. The
dream: Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. All of which were things the Irish

According to Philips, between 1815 and 1816, around 20,000 Irish traveled to the

farmers couldn t afford travel. Over the next two decades shipping fees continued
to have outrageous prices, but between 1823 and 1825 more people, such as the
merchants and farmers, were able to travel because free passage and land grants
were allowed to Catholics. The largest emigration was in 1827 when nearly 400,000
Irish traveled to the Americas on Coffin Ships; overcrowded ships filled
The Mystery of the Disappearance of Roanoke
When most people think of the early settlement they think of the first successful
settlement, Jamestown, but this was not the first settlement in the New World. The
settlement at Roanoke was the first attempt to colonize the New World. The
settlement at Roanoke is often referred to as the Lost Colony because of its unusual
disappearance. The reason people often do not know about the first settlement at
Roanoke is because it was abandoned, forgotten, and lost. The Roanoke settlement
was located on an island on the northern coast of what is now North Carolina. A few
more than a hundred English men first settled the colony at Roanoke Islandin 1584.

There were harsh conditions that caused supplies to run low faster than anticipated
and White agreed to sail back to Britain to shore up the settlement s supplies [it
was] a trip that should have only lasted a few months (Grens). The main problem
was that the trip took much longer then planned and because of this the colonists
were the ones that suffered. Since the only way to travel and get news at the time
was by ship; there was no way to know that there was a war going on in Europe.
When they left to resupply the colony that they would be the last to see anyone in
the colony. The history of what happened between the three years of White leaving
for England to bring back more supplies will probably never be known. Of course
there is always the need to consider that hostile Indians were the cause of the
disappearance, especially since the only trace they left behind was a structure of
tree trunks, with a single word carved into one post: CROATOAN [the name of a
local Indian tribe] (Grens). It can be speculated that something happened that caused
great harm and forced all the people living in the colony to either relocate or
something happened that killed them all. It is also possible that there was some kind
of storm that caused people to leave the island that they had been calling home.
However, with the colony having been taken apart and seemingly dismantled this is
unlikely.
Characteristics Of Each Variation Of Griscelli Syndrome
Each variation of Griscelli syndrome is caused by a mutation in a different gene,
however, each variation presents the same hallmark phenotype; hypopigmentation.
The reason for this is because the three genes involved (MYO5A, RAB27A, and
MLPH) play similar roles in the transport of the pigment melanin. The MYO5A,
RAB27A, and MPLH genes all produce proteins that are found within cells known as
melanocytes ( Griscelli syndrome, 2016). Melanocytes are generally found in the
stratum basale of the skin s epidermis and the uvea of the eye. Through a process
termed melanogenesis, melanocytes produce the pigment melanin. Within the
melanocytes, the proteins produced by these three genes work cooperatively and
form a complex to transport structures called melanosomes. Melanosomes are
organelles found within the melanocytes that serve as the site of synthesis, storage,
and transport of melanin ( Griscelli syndrome, 2016). When a mutation impairs the
normal function of any of the three genes involved in the transport of the
melanosomes, the production of the proteins produced by these genes is also
interrupted. As a result, the normal transport of melanin within the melanocyte is
disrupted, as there is a lack of available proteins, thus, no proteincomplex for
melanosome transportation. Although the transport of melanin is disrupted,
melanogenesis still continues within the cell, producing more melanin. In normal
protein function within the melanocyte, the melanosomes are transported

The Spanish Inquisition is known for the pain it caused the citizens of the Iberian

Martinez motivated the crowd to riot. The crowd moved towards the Jewish quarter.
Police captured some of the people and flogged or beaten, even that wasn t enough
to stop the mob. While they didn t succeed that day to destroy the Jews, the feeling
that Martinez had grew strong until June 6 when the mob sacked the Juderia of
Seville. It is believed that the victims numbered in the hundreds maybe even
thousand. Jews thought themselves to be free of these problems, but this was not the

For example, a fiduciary relationship exist between two parties, when a party expects
the other to act for him in such a manner as he would act in absolute honesty,
faithfulness and diligence, not minding the fact that he is acting for someone else. If
he cannot steal his personal money, then he cannot steal the money put in his care.
Common law provides quite a number of duties of a director to a company, however,
only few of them relates with insider dealings. Some of these duties include:
The duty to act bonafide in the Company s interest.
A director is expected to act honestly, diligently and faithfully in the best interest of
the comp any. This duty is however relative. What happens to be in the best interest
of the company to a director may differ from the shareholders view. In the case of
Park v. Daily Times Ltd., the court held that the directors had acted improperly and
not bonafide for the company s interest, when they made redundancy payments to the
company s employees on the cessation of the company s business. Duty to avoid
conflict of Interest.
In the performance of his duties, a director must not allow a conflict of interest
between him and the company. To be strictly avoided are instances in which a
director s personal interest would conflict with the interest of the company, which he
is expected to protect. This was the situation in Industrial Development Consultants
Ltd.

AP World History
World History is learning and understanding about the origins of how culture around
the world evolved. Having a more known perspective on the world from going into
depth about the way people lived in the past interests me the most. The most
important thing I want to know is why those people did what they did. What I don t
have interest in is the political history and trying to remember all the important dates
with its right event.

Enthalpy Change Lab Report
Plan:
Aim:
The enthalpy change of combustion of a fuel is a measure of the energy transferred
when one mole of fuel burns completely. A value for the enthalpy change can be
obtained by using the burning fuel to heat water and using fact that 4.2j of energy
are required to raise the temperature of 1g of water by 1oC. In this investigation my
aim is to find the enthalpy change of combustion of a number of alcohols so that I can
investigate how and why the enthalpy change is affected by the molecular structure
of the alcohol.
I am going to investigate the enthalpy change of combustion for the alcohol
homologous series. I will investigate how alcohols with increasing number of carbons
affect the enthalpy change when an alcohol goes under ... Show more content on

Method:
The method that I am going to use to carry out my experiment is:
Г Firstly I am going to measure out 100cm3 cold water, using the measuring
cylinder (so that the water I put into the calorimeter is accurately measured out)
rather than using an ordinary beaker, as an ordinary beaker is less precise compared
with a measuring cylinder.
Г Then I will record the temperature of the water in the calorimeter, using a
thermometer to give a good degree of accuracy.
Г After that I will use the clamp to support the calorimeter.
Г Then I will place the spirit burner with one of the six alcohols that I am going to
test on a heatproof mat.
Г In order to make it a fair test and make sure that no energy is lost through
surroundings, and to prevent heat from being evaporated I will use 2 draught shields
and place them around either side of the calorimeter and spirit burner.
Г I will then weigh the spirit on the electronic balance with the lid on to make sure
that the test is fair because if I took the lid off the fuel would have evaporated very
quickly making my investigation not precise and accurate.
Г Then I will place the fuel that I will be using under the calorimeter on top of the
heatproof mat.
Г Then I will cover the calorimeter with foil to avoid any heat loss.
Г I will then pierce a hole into the foil big enough for the thermometer to fit
through so I can stir the water and record the temperature of the water.

The Notebook Ethos
Behind Great Love Lies A Great Story Nicholas Sparks tragic love story The
Notebook is a touching story about two people and their eternal passion of true
love which is beautifully portrayed by Nick Cassavetes in the film. Pathos is used
in the film to draw members of the audience to the characters and influence them to
feel passionate towards the characters. Cassavetes does this by making the movie
more dramatic than the book. The director effectively uses pathos to add drama in
The Notebook which makes the movie s audience more emotionally connected to the
story. The plot is evidently more climatic as the main events are exaggerated in the
film. The feel of the overall screenplay is distinctive than the novel. The characters

The different descriptions and dialogues of Allie and Noah are what bring the
change into their relationship. In the novel, Noah is described as a quiet and shy
poet. Although he was quiet, years of heavy lifting at the lumberyard helped him
excel in sports, ... An occasional person found him arrogant; most simply figured
he had grown up a bit faster than everyone else. (Sparks 24) Whereas in the film,
Noah is very outgoing and confident. He does not stop until he gets what he wants.
This is evident when Noah climbs on the ferris wheel and hangs from the bars at
the carnival where he asks Allie to go out with him. She refuses and he blackmails
her by making her think that he will fall down from such a height. Allie becomes
frightened and agrees to go out with him, little did she know that this was his plan
all along. The change in Noah s description changes his personality and the way the
audience views him as an individual character. Allie and Noah s tone of dialogues
are also changed to make them seem more modern. In the book, Allie agrees to
spend time with Noah without any objection. ...the four of them stayed at the
festival until the crowds were thin and everything closed up for the night. They
met the following day, and the day after that, and they soon became inseparable.
(Sparks 13) This circumstance would not exist in today s society as females have
their personal preferences. This is seen in the movie when Allie plays hard to get
and rejects Noah several times when he reminds her of the date. What are you
doing tonight? ... Why? Why? Our date. What date? The date that you agreed to.
No! Yes, you did. You promised, and you swore it. Well, I guess I changed my mind.
... Come on, one date. What s it gonna hurt? Umm..I don t think so. (Cassavetes)
Noah is also very understanding with Allie s decision to leave him
William Butler Yeats And His Life
Who knows when a Nobel Prize would have been given to an Irish man if it had
not been for William Butler Yeats? William Butler Yeats is a great figure in the
history of Irish poetry and playwriting. He wrote many poems and plays throughout
his entire life. He was a very modernist man and many of his poems were based on
this, they were ahead of his time beautiful and inspiring. What was behind William
Butler Yeatssuccess, and what phases did he have to go through to get there. This
man has influenced many poems and plays, writing and he has also inspired so many
people around the world.
William Butler Yeats was born on June 13th, 1865 Dublin, Ireland. His death was
in a hotel on January 28th, 1939 in Menton, France. His father, John Butler Yeats
was a lawyer who turned to be an artist. His mother Susan Pollexfun was from a
wealthy family, who owned a shipping business. He grew up in Sligo, Ireland,
Dublin Ireland and London England. He married at forty years of age to George
Hyde and had two children a girl by the name of Anne and then a boy named Michael.
He believed that he had the willpower to do anything that as long as he had it he
could succeed at anything he put his mind to. This belief of willpower had come
from pagan roots. William Yeats was a person who could not stand rudeness in any
way shape or form; he was quick to put a rude person in their place. Yeats was very
good at speaking; he was especial quick at winning arguments or discussions. At first,

Essay The Taliban and Afghanistan
The Taliban and Afghanistan
Afghanistan followed the same fate as dozens of formerly Soviet occupied countries
after the collapse of Moscow s Marxist government in 1991. Islamic factions, which
had united to expel the Russian occupiers in 1992, began to fight among themselves
when it became apparent that post communist coalition governments could not
overcome the deep rooted ethnic and religious differences of the members. It was in
this atmosphere of economic strife and civil war that a fundamentalist band of
religious students emerged victorious. By 1996, this group, the
Taliban, ruled 90% of the country with a controversial holy iron hand. The other 10%
of the country is tenaciously held by minority opposition groups led by ... Show more

Leo Kanner Case Study Of Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism spectrum disorder is a series neurodevelopmental disorder that impairs a
child s ability to communicate and interact with others. It also includes restricted
repetitive behaviors, interests and activities. Autism was first identified and
described by Leo Kanner in 1943. It usually begins in infancy. And ASD is also a
diagnosis introduced in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders (DSM 5). It incorporates the previously detached diagnostic
categories of autistic disorder, Asperger s disorder, childhood disintegrative disorder,
and pervasive developmental disorder. Clinicians had long had difficulty

ASD is usually diagnosed in children around three or four years of age. Some
children with autism show signs of developmental issues throughout their infant and
toddler years, while others develop in the expected manner at first, but then slow or
even regress, symptoms typically include deficits in using and understanding
language and difficulty relating to people and events. Symptoms also include unusual
play with toys and other objects and difficulty with changes in routine or
surroundings. In some cases, children exhibit repetitive body movements or behavior
patterns. Unusual responses to sensory information, such as loud noises and lights,
are also common. The condition typically remains with the individual throughout his
or her life. Individuals with ASD tend to show symptoms in two distinct areas. The
first is deficits in communication and social abilities. Autistic children have difficulty
forming social cues, sharing experiences with other people and participating in
normal social interactions. People with ASD may have difficulty reading tone or
body language, tending to take everything said at face

sector followed by the Porter s five forces analysis and we will end by having a
look at the key competitors and competitor pricing. PESTEL ANALYSIS The
PESTEL analysis consists the analysis of Political, Economical, Social,
Technological, Legal, Legal and Environmental forces of a particular industry of a
country. Political analysis The political factors differ from country to country.
During difficult times of recession, every country s government helps the
automotive industry players by taking out various remedy policies like when
Toyota got a loan of $2 billion sanctioned from the Japanese government. According
to the new laws Toyota has been asked to reduce Cos generated from its cars,
which has created a big challenge for the company. Economic analysis Currently
recession is prevailing in the market so the global car sale of Toyota is showing a
downward trend. Also changes in interest rates, inflation and currency rates can act
both as a threat and an opportunity. Inflation rates differ from country to country for
instance in Japan the inflation rate is relatively low as compared to USA. The lower
the interest rate, the better its for Toyota since the
Causes And Treatments Of Thyroid Cancer
INTRODUCTION:
My topic of choice is thyroid cancer. Recently my mother was diagnosed with this
cancer so doing research can help me better understand what it is, what causes its
occurrence, and what lifestyle changes it will bring. Having taken anatomy
physiology I know the importance of this gland. This is a gland that has functions to
many other organs including the heart, brain, liver, and more. Going into the DMS
program I can learn to identify spots on the thyroid and use the knowledge of this
cancer to in my career. Also since this disease can be passed down genetically it can
help me stay alert because I do fall in the age range of a potential target.
BACKGROUND:
The thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland located in base of the front of your neck, just
below the Adams apple. It is responsible for manufacturing several hormones that are
essential to maintaining your body natural level of homeostasis. This is probably one
of the most vital glands that your body has to offer as it produces two main hormones
thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Thyroid cells once released into the blood
stream function to remove all the iodine that comes into the body. These cells are
the only cells that are capable of doing so. Thyroid cells merge the iodine collected
with the amino acid tyrosine to create T3 and T4. T3 is responsible for most of the
body s biological effects however T3 and T4 once its released into the blood stream
they are transported to every are of the body and

The Effect Of Body Cameras On Use Of Force Incidents
Methods I wish to replicate the methodology utilized by Ariel, Farrer, and
Sutherland (2015). These researchers conducted a randomized controlled study
with the Rialto Police Department in California. The purpose of their study was to
observe the effects of body worn cameras on the frequency of use of force incidents
as well as citizens complaints. In my research study, I will test only the effect of
body worn cameras on use of force incidents. I propose to study the Indianapolis
Metropolitan PoliceDepartment in Indianapolis, Indiana. This research setting is a
lot larger than Ariel, Farrer, and Sutherland s study. The Rialto Police Department
covered an area of approximately 28.5 square miles, and they served a population
of approximately 100,000 residents. IMPD covers an area of approximately 364.3
square miles, and serves approximately 824,000 residents. Rialto has 115 sworn
officers whereas IMPD has 1,080 sworn officers (IMPD n.d.). I propose to divide
IMPD s six districts in half. Three districts will be the treatment group while the
other three districts will be the control group. This should be approximately 540
total officers per group. The districts will be randomly assigned to either by a
treatment or a control group, and it will change weekly. For example, the North
District may be a treatment group one week and a control group the next week. I
feel that if the department is split up and randomly assigned a group each week that
the data will be more

Like many people who haven t studied literature, if someone asked me what the
theme of a story was, I would have given a synopsis of the story detailing the
actions and characters in it. As I have come to learn, theme is much more than a
distilled retelling of a story. Theme gives a story a deeper meaning. The theme
focuses the story and is the behind the scenes force that propels the story forward. In
other words it gives the story purpose and shape. Theme will attempt to hold all the

She furthers uses an image like the missing pine trees, which are a symbol of
immortality, to bring to life the understanding that death has arrived. When Rhys
uses cold the reader and the character herself realize the meaning of the journey
death. The introduction of cold allows the reader to understand that the journey
has come to an end and is irreversible. Character also builds theme in a story.
According to our text when looking at how characters shape theme you should ask
how do characters make a particular aspect of the underlying area clear? (Clugston,
R 2010) This is a good place to start when looking at Rhys story. The author used
the characters thoughts and feeling to unfold the symbols in the story. The author
also did not give a physical description on the woman, this adds to furthering the
theme of the journey in the story. The woman is no longer a live and therefore she
doesn t need a body. It is clear from the symbols pointed out by the woman that she
is leading us on this journey. As the character reaches the end her journey, we as the
reader does as well. Rhys layers the symbols at the end of the story so the reader
begins to rapidly connect the dots in there meaning.

The History Of Childbirth, And Barbra Rothman s
Childbirth
The history of childbirth is long, spanning across the entire history of every creature.
The physical act has stayed the same with the exclusion of c sections but the social
aspect has changed drastically. Through exploring Nancy Dye s History of Childbirth
in America, Wenda Trevathan s The Evolutionary History of Childbirth
, and Barbra
Rothman s Childbirth as a Negotiated Reality, one will receive a glimpse into the
social history of childbirth. Nancy Dye s, History of Childbirth in America, explores
the social evolution of childbirth by breaking it into three stages: before the 18th
century, late 18th century to 1919, and the 1920s on. In the first stage, pregnancyis a
social event that is attended to by midwives and female friends and relatives.[
Nancy Dye, History of Childbirth in America. (1980), 97 108.] It was the pinnacle
of femininity and the power women held. The midwife, who was not seen as a
medical professional would see to everything in the pregnant woman s home where
the birth would take place by natural means.[ Dye, History of Child Birth in
America, 97 108] Even though this was seen as a happy moment it was crowded
with the cultural emphasis on the likelihood of pain and death that brought fear and
confusion to women.[ Dye, History of Child Birth in America, 97 108] This stage in
the history of childbirth is important to understand because it is this era that acts as a
foundation for the rest to come. Also, as the stages are followed through one will
Donald Trump s Debate Analysis
Sunday October 9th, the second Presidential debate aired generating approximately
66.5 million viewers to watch the Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump debate the
issues. Moderated by Martha Raddatz and Anderson Cooper the debate was a town

the moderators. The television programs following the debate tend to spin the
debate in favor of their candiate. I tuned in to Hannity on Fox News on Monday

2. Literature Review 2.1 Previous Theory on Service Quality and Customers
Satisfaction Parasuraman et al., (1985, 1988) proposed service quality model for
the first time and they said service quality can be measure through functional
quality dimension which has five components (tangibility, reliability,
responsiveness, assurance, empathy). This model identifies the gaps of service
quality of the service organization which describe five gaps during the service
expectation till the actual service delivery. First gap is the service providers do not
know what the expectations of the customers about the service. Second gap is the
service provider does not recognize the standard of service that customer expect.
Specifications of the service and delivery of service is the third gap. Forth gap is
related with delivery of the service. Last and final gap is the customer s
expectation about the service and the perceived service. In latter part Haywood
Farmer (1988) mentioned that there are three important attributes in a service
quality for instance (1) physical facilities and processes (2) people s behavior (3)
professional judgment. However, Brogowicz et al., (1990) developed a model for

This task requires a deep appreciation of the source material and an astute observation of the film's interpretation. Discussing the cinematography, soundtrack, and overall directorial approach adds another layer of complexity. It is a civic responsibility to make an informed decision that is determined based on evidence to help come to a logical conclusion. This essay argues that judgment in Twelve Angry Men is addressed by the jurywho think rationally against a 16 year old kid facing the death sentence. It looks at the gender and ethnicity of the jury and suggests that the environment the jurors are placed in forwards their own judgment on themselves, making judgment become an empathetic experience. The placement of 12 men in a jury shows inconsistency towards female s input upon what judgment should be made for the accused. Inserting 12 men together only evokes testosterone against one another affecting their critical thinking and causing drama. For Juror, 7 judgment is a fast process and is addressed in the drama as Rose (121) states that, 7th Juror, Listen, I ll tell you something. I m a little sick of this whole thing already. All this yakkin s gettin us nowhere so I m going to break it up here. I m changing my vote to not guilty. 11th Juror, What kind of man are you? You have sat here and voted guilty with everyone else because there are some baseball tickets burning a hole in your pocket . The drama is now directed away from the accused of murder and now towards Juror 7 that shows irony towards the relevance of importance. It is from the example above we see

  • 6. Drawing And Drawing Essay When most people think about the first things they really enjoyed doing as children, drawing is one of the first things that come to mind. Not only is it one of the first things human beings enjoy doing, but it is also one of the first things they are taught how to do. Schools first educated children in how to draw simply to show the children that it is encouraged to have an imagination and it is acceptable to illustrate their imagination for others to see. Drawing is emboldened by not only teachers and elders, but is also stimulated and inspired by a person s peers. Peers have a great influence as they push one another to become more superior and efficient than one another. Additionally, it is important to note that engineers often find themselves in situations where peers push them to design and redesign their own inventions. As engineers refine their abilities to draw and to design, they further lengthen the drawing and designing process. Furthermore, as an engineer becomes better at designing and drawing they not only become more detailed, but also draw a design and redraw it in many different ways just to find the most efficient and best design. The best engineers are often the most detailed artists; this can be seen from many famous engineers, such as Leonardo Da Vinci. From the life of Da Vinci and many other famous engineers, it is quite obvious that drawing is a quintessential component to being a good engineer. Every engineer must hone their drawing skills

Schools are the institutions where students foundations for lifelong success are built. One would think, or at least hope, that sixty years after the Brown v. Board of Education decision, all schools in America would be flourishing or near flourishing. How wonderful would it be, if politicians and other people in power realized how true Martin Luther s words were. Unfortunately, this is not the case. As Jonathan Kozol explicitly depicts in his 1991 novel, Savage Inequalities, inequality in American public schools still exists despite segregation being outlawed. Even though this book was written twenty five years ago, it still applies to this day. There are many schools in America that are still segregated, and the complete opposite of flourishing. This is due to one main reason: inadequate funding. There is a tremendous amount of inequality in funding between the poor, cityschools, and the affluent, suburban schools. Kozol explores these various schools in his novel, and demonstrates how by underfunding schools that are in dire need of funds, we are essentially setting up our future generations for failure. We are inhibiting them from reaching their potentials and showcasing their talents. We ourselves are ripping their chances of a bright future out of their hands. We are allowing our society to believe segregation in schools is ok. Savage Inequalities explores three main

The electron and hole mobility s of FET are observed to be 180 and 200 cm2v 1s 1 respectively which are comparable to the recently reported values of paper FET with polymer dielectric and cellulose composite dielectrics. The FET was utilized as a strain sensor which shows good sensitivity for low strains of both tensile and compressive type. The mobility of the FET increases with increase in compressive strain and decreases with increase in tensile strain. The sensitivity of the FET sensor increases with the increase in the gate voltage. My first opinion is that EV is an important concept on measuring the progress of the project, but not well explored as a significant tool and in such context, I think that by knowing why the EVM is not used properly can lead toward how to use it. There are cases that PMs know the conceptbut it is unusable for different reasons as well as there are many cases in which the concept is not known. So leaving apart the second case, in which the concept is not known because for my opinion this is the simple case, in my mere opinion, the reasons why the EVM is not used correctly or it can not be used can be grouped by: The project does not have requirements at all. The requirements change frequently which make absolutely difficult to define correctly the budget and the schedule. There are wrong estimations of working packages. The process of change management doesn t work or is ineffective. The process of calculation Actual Cost is insufficient (reminding here cost collection). The incorrect progress of the project. I am pretty sure that the reasons I mention above can be enriched to a macro level with many arguments why the phenomena happen. Here below is a couple of examples of my of my reflections why EVM wasn t used properly: The scope of Ice on Ice project was the upgrade of the infrastructure of the Call Centre. Newton s Second Law And The Relationship Purpose: The purpose of this Lab was to investigate Newton s second law and the relationships between: Force and Acceleration, and Mass and Acceleration. Newton s Second Law states that any object that experiences a net or unbalanced force will undergo acceleration. Newton s second law of motion describes the relationship between force and acceleration. If you increase the force applied to an object, the acceleration of that object increases by the same factor. For Mass and Acceleration the net force on an object is equal to the mass of the object multiplied by the acceleration of the object. Another annoying pastalatizer arrived at your door. What do you say? Ignore him or hear him out? Is this man insane, or does he simply see you as someone to prank? Is this a game? Well, you re answer could be any of the above. In 2005, in a letter to a governor, a man mentioned a hypothetical Flying Spaghetti Monster, as a way to dispute creationism. This has been adopted by teenagers, pranksters, atheists, and true believers alike. The church s website, venganza.org states Some claim that the church is purely a thought experiment, satire, illustrating that Intelligent Design is not science, but rather a pseudoscience manufactured by Christians to push Creationism into public schools. These people are mistaken. The Church of FSM is real, totally legit, and backed by hard science. Anything that comes across as humor or satire is purely coincidental. It of course raises the question, when is a religion legitimate? It s a matter of semantics, really. The real question is not if these are legitimate, but what do these satirical religions say about our society?. What do these do for society? They provide a view into the madness that religion itself entails, allowing us to discern the boundaries that

There were harsh conditions that caused supplies to run low faster than anticipated and White agreed to sail back to Britain to shore up the settlement s supplies [it was] a trip that should have only lasted a few months (Grens). The main problem was that the trip took much longer then planned and because of this the colonists were the ones that suffered. Since the only way to travel and get news at the time was by ship; there was no way to know that there was a war going on in Europe. When they left to resupply the colony that they would be the last to see anyone in the colony. The history of what happened between the three years of White leaving for England to bring back more supplies will probably never be known. Of course there is always the need to consider that hostile Indians were the cause of the disappearance, especially since the only trace they left behind was a structure of tree trunks, with a single word carved into one post: CROATOAN [the name of a local Indian tribe] (Grens). It can be speculated that something happened that caused great harm and forced all the people living in the colony to either relocate or something happened that killed them all. It is also possible that there was some kind of storm that caused people to leave the island that they had been calling home. However, with the colony having been taken apart and seemingly dismantled this is unlikely.
  • 38. Characteristics Of Each Variation Of Griscelli Syndrome Each variation of Griscelli syndrome is caused by a mutation in a different gene, however, each variation presents the same hallmark phenotype; hypopigmentation. The reason for this is because the three genes involved (MYO5A, RAB27A, and MLPH) play similar roles in the transport of the pigment melanin. The MYO5A, RAB27A, and MPLH genes all produce proteins that are found within cells known as melanocytes ( Griscelli syndrome, 2016). Melanocytes are generally found in the stratum basale of the skin s epidermis and the uvea of the eye. Through a process termed melanogenesis, melanocytes produce the pigment melanin. Within the melanocytes, the proteins produced by these three genes work cooperatively and form a complex to transport structures called melanosomes. Melanosomes are organelles found within the melanocytes that serve as the site of synthesis, storage, and transport of melanin ( Griscelli syndrome, 2016). When a mutation impairs the normal function of any of the three genes involved in the transport of the melanosomes, the production of the proteins produced by these genes is also interrupted. As a result, the normal transport of melanin within the melanocyte is disrupted, as there is a lack of available proteins, thus, no proteincomplex for melanosome transportation. Although the transport of melanin is disrupted, melanogenesis still continues within the cell, producing more melanin. In normal protein function within the melanocyte, the melanosomes are transported

  • 47. Essay The Taliban and Afghanistan The Taliban and Afghanistan Afghanistan followed the same fate as dozens of formerly Soviet occupied countries after the collapse of Moscow s Marxist government in 1991. Islamic factions, which had united to expel the Russian occupiers in 1992, began to fight among themselves when it became apparent that post communist coalition governments could not overcome the deep rooted ethnic and religious differences of the members. It was in this atmosphere of economic strife and civil war that a fundamentalist band of religious students emerged victorious. By 1996, this group, the Taliban, ruled 90% of the country with a controversial holy iron hand. The other 10% of the country is tenaciously held by minority opposition groups led by ... These researchers conducted a randomized controlled study with the Rialto Police Department in California. The purpose of their study was to observe the effects of body worn cameras on the frequency of use of force incidents as well as citizens complaints. In my research study, I will test only the effect of body worn cameras on use of force incidents. I propose to study the Indianapolis Metropolitan PoliceDepartment in Indianapolis, Indiana. This research setting is a lot larger than Ariel, Farrer, and Sutherland s study. The Rialto Police Department covered an area of approximately 28.5 square miles, and they served a population of approximately 100,000 residents. IMPD covers an area of approximately 364.3 square miles, and serves approximately 824,000 residents. Rialto has 115 sworn officers whereas IMPD has 1,080 sworn officers (IMPD n.d.). I propose to divide IMPD s six districts in half. Three districts will be the treatment group while the other three districts will be the control group. This should be approximately 540 total officers per group. The districts will be randomly assigned to either by a treatment or a control group, and it will change weekly. For example, the North District may be a treatment group one week and a control group the next week. I feel that if the department is split up and randomly assigned a group each week that the data will be more

How Theme Shapes a Story Running Head: Theme How Theme Shapes a Story By Trina Carr English 125 Instructor: Clifton Edwards Running Head: Themepage 1 Like many people who haven t studied literature, if someone asked me what the theme of a story was, I would have given a synopsis of the story detailing the actions and characters in it. As I have come to learn, theme is much more than a distilled retelling of a story. Theme gives a story a deeper meaning. The theme focuses the story and is the behind the scenes force that propels the story forward. In other words it gives the story purpose and shape. Theme will attempt to hold all the elements of your story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Running Head: Themepage 2 She furthers uses an image like the missing pine trees, which are a symbol of immortality, to bring to life the understanding that death has arrived. When Rhys uses cold the reader and the character herself realize the meaning of the journey death. The introduction of cold allows the reader to understand that the journey has come to an end and is irreversible. Character also builds theme in a story. According to our text when looking at how characters shape theme you should ask how do characters make a particular aspect of the underlying area clear? (Clugston, R 2010) This is a good place to start when looking at Rhys story. The author used the characters thoughts and feeling to unfold the symbols in the story. The author also did not give a physical description on the woman, this adds to furthering the theme of the journey in the story. The woman is no longer a live and therefore she doesn t need a body. It is clear from the symbols pointed out by the woman that she is leading us on this journey. As the character reaches the end her journey, we as the reader does as well. Rhys layers the symbols at the end of the story so the reader begins to rapidly connect the dots in there meaning. Running Head: Themepage 3 References Bain,T. The physical act has stayed the same with the exclusion of c sections but the social aspect has changed drastically. Through exploring Nancy Dye s History of Childbirth in America, Wenda Trevathan s The Evolutionary History of Childbirth , and Barbra Rothman s Childbirth as a Negotiated Reality, one will receive a glimpse into the social history of childbirth. Nancy Dye s, History of Childbirth in America, explores the social evolution of childbirth by breaking it into three stages: before the 18th century, late 18th century to 1919, and the 1920s on. In the first stage, pregnancyis a social event that is attended to by midwives and female friends and relatives.[ Nancy Dye, History of Childbirth in America. (1980), 97 108.] It was the pinnacle of femininity and the power women held. The midwife, who was not seen as a medical professional would see to everything in the pregnant woman s home where the birth would take place by natural means.[ Dye, History of Child Birth in America, 97 108] Even though this was seen as a happy moment it was crowded with the cultural emphasis on the likelihood of pain and death that brought fear and confusion to women.[ Dye, History of Child Birth in America, 97 108] This stage in the history of childbirth is important to understand because it is this era that acts as a foundation for the rest to come. Also, as the stages are followed through one will

This model identifies the gaps of service quality of the service organization which describe five gaps during the service expectation till the actual service delivery. Second gap is the service provider does not recognize the standard of service that customer expect. Specifications of the service and delivery of service is the third gap. Forth gap is related with delivery of the service. Last and final gap is the customer s expectation about the service and the perceived service.
