On 25 April 1915, during the First World War, the Australian and New Zealand
Army Corps (ANZAC) landed on the Gallipoli peninsula as part of the 70,000 strong

The term mentoring has surged into the literature in many disciplines (e.g., sociology,
social psychology, education, management, social work, healthcare management, etc.)
over the last several decades. Mentoring emerged in the organizational literature in the

been anecdotal, conceptual, and empirical; and several journals have dedicated
special editions to mentoring. By and large, these published works have highlighted
the overwhelming perceived beneп¬Ѓts (e.g., increased mobility, promotion
opportunity, and total compensation), and minimal perceived drawbacks of
mentoring (Campion and Goldп¬Ѓnch, 1983; Kelly, 2001; Scandura, 1992, 1998;

In Song of Roland, the ideas of chivalry and loyalty to one s king are central.
Throughout the text, the author uses the concepts of good versus evil, shown by the
Christians versus Muslims, as well as loyalty versus treason, shown by Roland versus
Ganelon, to highlight and exemplify the ideals of the code of knighthood. The main
character, Roland, is often presented as being an exemplary knight; he personifies the
conventional chivalric values of the time such as bravery and loyalty, but he also
struggles to balance these values in order to be a responsible leader. Roland is in
stark contrast to his stepfather, Ganelon, as well as being in slight contrast to his
close friend, Oliver. These contrasts of character come to a climax as the battle
against the Muslim army at Roncesvalles begins; Oliver and Roland debate over
whether they should call the king to help them, leading to the eventual demise of
the French army. This specific scene brings to light the ideological dilemma of
bravery versus wisdom and logic, by utilizing Roland as an example of the former,

The advantages of bilingualism can be seen throughout Aria, a memoir originally
published in Hunger of Memory in 1980, written by the Mexican American author
Richard Rodriguez. In his writing, Rodriguez s shares his experience of how he
gained a new identity because he had to learn English and adapt to a new society
in America. The purpose of his memoir is to give the reader a sense of why
bilingual education shouldn t be used in school. Rodriguez s writing reaches out to
supporters of bilingual education who may not see the benefits that can be gained

He goes further in depth, using an ethos appeal, informing the reader about his
very own experience to a new language and the problems he encountered, and
overcame. However, Rodriguez lacks to provide any other evidence other than his
experience, to use in his argument; the absence of any other evidence in his writing
makes his argument unfair and hard to trust. When Rodriguez s brings up his
bilingual childhood, at the time when he had difficulties with English, he tells
about how he only spoke Spanish while at home using it as my private language,
my family s language, informing the reader that while at home he was able to
speak Spanish with an ease feeling that he belonged (Rodriguez 573). However,
whenever outside of his house he sensed that the sounds of the gringo, reminded
me that in this so big world I was a foreigner, still new to the language, he felt that
he did not belong (Rodriguez 593 594). Only after his parents began speaking to

learn classroom English, which led to him taking a leap and answering a question in
class giving him the calming assurance, that I belong in public, feeling part of the
