The Person I Admire Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of admiration poses a unique challenge. The intricacies lie not
only in the articulation of words but also in the depth of personal connection one must establish
with the subject. The person you admire becomes a mirror reflecting your values, aspirations,
and ideals. Expressing these sentiments coherently demands a delicate balance between
admiration and objectivity.
The difficulty arises from the need to capture the essence of the person in a narrative that is both
engaging and authentic. One must navigate the fine line between gushing praise and a nuanced
portrayal, avoiding clichГ©s and superficiality. Additionally, it requires introspection to
understand the reasons behind the admiration, translating emotions into well-structured
arguments.
Moreover, the challenge extends to maintaining a captivating flow throughout the essay. Striking
a harmonious balance between the introduction, body, and conclusion becomes crucial to keep
the reader's interest alive. The narrative should unfold seamlessly, guiding the reader through a
journey that mirrors the complexity of the admiration felt.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding a mere regurgitation of facts and anecdotes. Instead,
the essay should breathe life into the subject, offering insights that go beyond the surface.
Developing a unique perspective requires thorough research and a deep understanding of the
person's impact on your life.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the person you admire demands a skillful intertwining of
personal sentiments and writing prowess. It is an art that involves introspection, research, and the
ability to transform emotions into a compelling narrative. Achieving this delicate balance is what
makes writing such an essay a challenging yet rewarding endeavor.

physiological needs, safety, belongingness and love, and self esteem and feels they

On the islands of Hawaii a 6.6 earthquake hit the island Honolulu. The lack of
electricity gave them no communication with the mainland.
After and the aftershocks, there was fear of a tsunami people started to worry. The
Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a report saying that no tsunami is expected,
although officials at the center warned of the possibility of one in Hawaii. There was
so much damage they did not know what to do.

Narrative Essay On Victorian Age
If you had the opportunity to pass through a portal which would magically send you
into another space and time, would you take it? What would happen if you were
transported back in time to Victorian England? Do you have the necessary survival
instinct and the accessory survival skills? Can you use your knowledge of your own
era to your advantage?
BEEP BEEP!
Congratulations! You have set foot onto the Londonstreets during the Victorian era. I
assume you know that this trip is probably a one way one? You have no one to
depend on since your friends and relatives are nowhere to be found. People are filling
the streets but they are all minding their own nineteenth century business and none of
them pay any sort of attention to you.

Focus on any valuables you might have brought with you when you stepped through
the time portal. Something like solid gold or sterling silver, perhaps? If you have
some and want to sell it to get some money that is actually worth something, prepare
yourself for three possible scenarios:
I.You get ripped off. Unless you happen to know what the exchange rate of metals
in the Victorian Era is? The Victorian jewellers can be pretty greedy, so if you walk
into their shop looking like you have no clue what is what, they will not hesitate to
take advantage of that.
II.You are pickpocketed. Pickpockets are absolutely brutal during the Victorian Era,
so: Watch. Your. Pockets. It would be a shame for your things to get stolen before
you can sell it, since you are on your own if that happens. Sorry.
III.You are accused of theft. Are you by any chance non white and/or non male?
Prepare to be hassled. Even as a white male, depending on the quality and
background of your clothing, you may have a hard time. The only thing you might
have going for you is a foreign accent they may just write it off as you being a
Thread Lift
Thread lift is a new non aesthetic remedy, originating in Asia and has been used for
many years now in the world. This treatment does not require complicated surgical
operations, the whole procedure is done by local anesthesia. Even dressings do not
need to be used after surgery, while the recovery time is only 2 3 days. The main
principle of this method is to use PDO (polydioxanone), hair thin, implanted under the
skin in appropriate directions to stimulate collagen production, firming the skin. Only
PDO made 100% from bio material and used in health care long ago. However, many
cosmetic centers also add a few other types, including notably nano gold, which can
prolong the effectiveness of treatment. Often, the skin tread is only shorter and less
noticeable than other surgical augmentation methods.... Show more content on

than. Skin grafts are more likely to be used for mild to severe back pain. Threadlift
treatment and facelift treatments focus on different areas of the face and are
generally not interchangeable. For example, the threadlift focuses on the cheek
area and folds on the nose edge. This treatment helps to correct mildly mild flow in
the center of the face of the woman from 30 to 50 subtle. Many times the opposite
person feels younger and does not know which treatment you are in and which
area. Meanwhile, Facelift focuses on the sagging area of the neck and lower jaw
line. That is when the sagging marks are very clear and recognizable, usually with
women between 45 and 70. If the threadlift is a relatively simple stretching
procedure with some small incisions and instillation In the area where the skin needs
to stretch, Face Lift is much more time consuming and complicated, it requires
general anesthesia. However, Face Lift results are impressive and can last from 7 8
Juan Rulfo s Pedro Paramo
The main universal theme of Pedro Paramo is that death is inevitable. This is
shown by the fact that everyone is dead in Comala. The author of Pedro Paramo is
Juan Rulfo, he was born in Sayula, Mexico. His book collections such as The
Burning Plain (1953) and the book Pedro Paramo made him a big literary figure.
In Pedro Paramo, Juan is sent on a journey to find his father (Pedro which who the
book is written after) who sent his mom away because she kept asking continually
to see her sister. Juan gets to Comala where he meets Abundio (the Mule driver)
who sends him to Dorotea. Juan ends up dying of fear from the voices and shadows
and dead people. Juan Rulfo, author of Pedro Paramo, uses symbols such as sleep,

sounds used up. And voices worn away by the years Sound like that. But I think
the day will come when those sounds fade away (Rulfo 41). This quote supports
the tone by offering that one day it might Fade away Damiana Cisneros assumes
that this will happen through time. In this scene Damiana takes Juan to tell him
that Comala is filled with voices and when one time she heard a fiesta and it was
no one there and how her sister Sistina Begs for her to pray for her. The following
quote uses the symbol voices to express a gloomy tone. Because he feared the
nights that filled the darkness with phantoms that locked him in with his ghosts.
That was his fear (Rulfo 124).This quote supports the tone by showing that Pedro is
not expecting to be around a bunch of ghosts for a night (voices). In this part of the

Film Review Of The First Time I Went At College
The first time I went to college, I was a film major. I took a course that revolved
around the evolution of movies from the first film ever made to the most recent. The
instructor did little to hide her views on misogyny dominating the film industry.
Since that class, I have been unable to shake her voice from my head while I watch
even the most seemingly harmless of movies. If I had stayed in the filmindustry, I
would have tried to change what I inevitably see in mainstream Hollywood movies
time and time again films that fail the Bechdel test, a gross underrepresentation of
women both in front of and behind the camera, and the blatant use of women as
mere sexual objects in so many blockbuster movies. Looking at some popular films
in the last few years provides a rollercoaster of waxing and waning hope for whether
or not women are finding success in meaningful roles or continuing to serve as
objects to be ogled.
The Bechdel test was first made popular in Alison Bechdel s comic strip Dykes To
Watch Out For in a 1985 strip titled The Rule. In the short cartoon a woman asks her
girlfriend if she wants to see a movie. The girlfriend replies, telling her she only sees
movies that pass the rule does it feature at least two women, with names, that talk to
each other about something other than a man. From there the rule blossomed into a
general measuring tool for the presence of women in fictional films. I remember
sitting in my film class watching a YouTube video that

how important teamwork is. It is evident that Hartwell is an extremely
knowledgeable and successful man, but I believe that the reason for this is because
he has always been willing to do more. He started a program that he help build at the

engineering students at the masters degree level will work in teams around the use
of these devices in potential clinical applications. By using these people together
who have different educational backgrounds and experiences, each will be able to
provide their ideas and this can make for amazing devices. Finally, in the beginning
of this video, Hartwell discussed how he had a biological background, but he
mentioned how he is currently learning how engineering and health sciences
integrate with one another. After I obtain my degree, I want to become a medical
scientist and the reason why I am currently a Computer Science major is because I
want to be able to incorporate all of the advancing technology in the health field. This
lecture was inspiring because knowing that there are others that want to incorporate

they are out there on the field and they know what will make a
Analysis Of The Book Harrison Bergeron
Can an equal society truly exist? The story, Harrison Bergeron gives one perspective
answer to this question throughout the story. The story portrays one main conflict
between Harrison Bergeron, a genius boy who is very talented, against a government
that makes the entire society equal by handicapping the more gifted, down to the
level of the less fortunate or incapable. Harrison constantly outgrows his tremendous
handicaps faster than the government can create them and plans to overthrow the
handicap government and society with his genius. The reader learns that there is a
constant struggle with the people in the society who are smarter being able to think
on their own for a short while to only come and find themselves lost, since... Show

The wife tries to persuade him and convince him that he should take off his handicaps
for a while and rest. George can still better understand the consequences of those
potential actions and thus can still outsmart his wife by making a different decision.
Through this passage, the reader also learns that even in this handicap society of
equality not everyone is truly equal. If everyone was truly equal George wouldn t
have been able to make a more correct reasoning than another person and choose
different actions based on knowledge and reason. This just once again proves that
even in a perfect society not everything is perfect.
At the end of the story and at the climax the reader learns about the character
Harrison Bergeron. The genius boy starts to plot to overthrow the handicapper
General and her government. By escaping from jail Harrison proceeds to a TV
studio to proclaim his revolt to the rest of the society. Once ripping off his
handicaps and the handicaps of the rest of the people in the TV studio area,
Harrison began to show the joys of having talents. He asks the orchestra to play
their best so he and the ballerina can truly make a wonderful dance and experience
what music is supposed to truly be. As the wonderful music is played and the
elaborate dance proceeds, the Handicap General herself storms the studio and kills

One of the reasons is because the ordering system implemented is very interactive and
straight forward. Based on our research regarding Sushiro Kaiten Sushi, one of the
features that makes it more outstanding than the other two is that they have an alert
notification which produced sound so that customer will be notified when they hear
the sound that indicates their order is ready.
We took into account a few factors to develop our restaurant ordering system. We
have planned to use some of the features from the previous case study. One of the
features that we will try to apply into our system is list of ordered menu. This
feature will let the customer to add or remove the menu before place order and able
to view the total price.
As for the conclusions, all the restaurants ordering system that we referred on are
going to be the indicator for us to develop an efficient system. We would try to
adapt their elements into our system as well. This is the main reason why we
conducted the literature review researched earlier as it is very useful for us to get
the clear picture on what we have to do to develop the

Yet, in addition to his noteworthy plays, he also contributed to his community by
increasing the fame of The Globe Theatre. Since his influential role, the Globe

rich history behind this significant structure. However, with the knowledge of the

Grief, Loss, and Everything Josh Kos would Floss (this is not the actual title)
Grief and loss are some of the most defining characteristics of the human experience.
Therefore, dealing with grief and loss is one of the most important things humans
must learn. While there are many approaches, Jennifer Kent uses her film The
Babadook to suggest that suppression is not a healthy way to deal with grief. By
thoughtfully planning the mise en scene, soundtrack, and narrative storytelling, Kent
teaches viewers that suppression causes the inner monster to come out in all of us,
just as it did to Amelia in The Babadook.
In The Babadook, suppression of grief is at the root of all of Amelia s personal
problems. Suppressing her grief resulted in her becoming isolated from everyone
around her, from her co worker Robby, her sister Claire, to even her son Sam.
Because she was so wrapped up in suppressing memories of her husband, Amelia
lost touch with the living world, and is left in an awkward limbo between her past
and her present. Once the Babadook is unleashed, suppression of grief leads to
paranoia for Amelia. As she continues to have visions, Amelia is trapped in a
different limbo between reality and inside her mind, and as she continues to suppress
her grief, her situation becomes progressively worse.
Amelia s house and the tree across the street from Amelia s house are important
motifs throughout The Babadook. However, while trees and

knowledge concerning policy, as well as advocating for policy changes make for a
successful social worker. However, it may be difficult to advocate for certain policy
changes due to barriers that protect some laws and policies. Implications for practice
suggest social workers should consider the micro, mezzo, and macro levels that
impact clients they serve. Locating resources and implementing programs can allow
social workers to meet the immediate needs of their clients. The juvenile population

The Federalists And Anti-Federalist Analysis
The factions will be numerous in large republics, but they will be weaker than in
small, direct democracies are easier for factions to consolidate their strength. In
United States, faction s leaders may be able to influence state governments to support
insubstantial economic and political policies as the states, far from being abolished,
retain much of their sovereignty. If the framers had abolished the state governments,
the opponents of the proposed governmentwould have a legitimate objection. People
think that a strong president is incompatible with a republican form of government,
however, the strong president best protects liberty when anarchy, faction, and the
excessive ambitions of others threaten it. Madison could not possibly have imagined
the many avenues available to factions for exercising influence in contemporary
bureaucratic politics. Hamilton s analysis of the presidency in the Federalist Papers
argues that as head of the executive branch, the president is provided by the
Constitution with sufficient powers to control, coordinate, and energize federal
administration. The Federalists and Anti Federalists alike feared executive power,

Crichton s Narrative Of The Andromeda Strain
In his affirmations, Crichton portrays the narrative of the Andromeda Strain as an
story of heroism and intelligence. Although the researchers commit numerous errors,
they do seek after their assignment with valor and determination. In any case, they

Mercyhurst University Student Liability Study
There is a liability factor that is associated with bringing teenagers onto the
Mercyhurst University campus in order to show and teach them about higher
education. It is important that all members that are going to be on the tour will be
transported safely and properly with either the help of the YMCA or our group
members. Mercyhurst Universityand our group that will be representing the
university should be held responsible in providing accurate and motivational
information to the group as a way of upholding the mercy core values we stand for
and perpetuating an image that is appropriate to the institution. This project is going
to involve us as a group walking around campus in which the participants and
Mercyhurst University students could be subject to personal injuries, property losses,
or damage in connection with the activity of the visit. It is important that the
teenagers abide by all the rules and regulations of the University, behave in a
respectful manner, and be attentive to the message we are trying to convey to them.
Although it is important for the group to enjoy themselves while on campus, it is
more important that they learn, make connections, and realize the importance of

Comparing Ludwig Beethoven And Beethoven s
Appassionata...
Both Ludwig Beethoven s Appassionata piano sonata and Franz Liszt s B minor
sonata are recognized as some of the best compositions of the nineteenth century. The
complexity and creativity of these pieces are astonishing. Considering both pieces are
sonatas they have some similar aspects, but they are also very different which can be
credited to the brilliant minds who composed them. These pieces are both
masterpieces of their time which is what has made them stand out amongst the many
songs composed during the nineteenth century. In this paper I will touch on the
significant attributes of these pieces and compare their similarities and differences.
The first piece I will introduce is Appassionata by Ludwig Van Beethoven.
Appassionata was composed during a time of many changes in both Beethoven s life
and the musical world around him. By 1800 Beethoven s hearing had deteriorated so
much that he was almost completely deaf. Although this was not something easy to
cope with, Beethoven did not let this obstacle hinder his career. In fact, in many
aspects his works flourished, and a new wave of creativity sparked in his career.
Beethoven was not the first to compose a multimovement piece for the piano, but he
was the first to stray from the former expectations of piano sonatas. Beethoven s new
sonatas were longer than most and incorporated dramatic elements. With just one
instrument Beethoven was able to convey so much power and emotion, something
that no one at the time
Why Students Take General Education Classes
The law enforces students to take general education classes in college. This report is
here to explain why students do not need to take such classes, and what they can be
a benefit towards. Thus meaning most of the student would be on the side of not
needing general education classes, so join me in a course for the law makers. When
students have a tool of all trades in the pocket of their jeans that allows them to search
anything and everything, the amount of students dropping out of collegeis increasing
every year.
In the world of college students are spending several thousand dollars to get an
education to pursue a career. Typically, the career we want to pursue is something
for which we have a talent or interest. The standard time period of college is
typically four years, but on the other hand if you go to a technical college two years
are required. In most majors you are required to take general education ... Show more

United States Census Bureau Population Projection
According to the December 2012 United States Census Bureau Population Projection,
the nation will continue its trend of consistent diversification. By 2024, the non
Hispanic white population will show a decrease in numbers. Minorities including
Hispanics, African Americans and Asians will double, and other groups will increase
by at least half. Eventually, non Hispanic whites will not be seen as a majority, but as
an equally represented group among its ethnic counterparts (U.S. Bureau, 2014). This
projection can not be transposed to the country s nursing population. Non Hispanic
white nurses often vastly outnumber other groups (Bessent, 2009, p6). The nursing
workforce needs to actively and continually diversify its professionals to provide
competent care for the nation s ever changing population. The first step to gaining an
equally represented nursing workforce is to ensure all races receive an opportunity
to advance their education and become registered nurses. Many cultural beliefs are
obstacles for minorities. Families believe that a woman s place is just within the
household or that college is not an option for their children (Wros, Doutrich, and
Ruiz, 2009). The nursing industry must advertise vigilantly to both the children and
their families that culture should not hold anyone back from achieving their goals,
and a nursing career is a good goal to want to achieve. When asked what could be
done to increase the amount of minority nursing students, Yvette
Endothelial Cells Essay
Introduction
If the endothelium were to be considered an organ, it would be without a doubt the
largest, with its 6 trillion cells, area of 5000m2, and 1kg weight. With knowledge
of the endothelium stemming back to the early 1600s with William Harvey s work
on the circulation as a closed circuit with a pump and Marcello Malpighi s
observations of blood capillaries, the focus over the next 400 years was mainly on
the pump itself, leading to the creation of a major clinical field cardiology. Although
scientists were aware of blood vessels and their role in circulation, it wasn t until the
early 1960s that the endothelium was able to be seen with electron microscopy and
therefore be differentiated and characterized.1 The recognition of ... Show more

Hematologists are all too aware of the role of the endothelium in atherosclerosis,
while hepatologists recognize the important of sinusoidal endothelial cells for liver
regeneration. The uniqueness of the endothelium coupled with the difficulties caused
by a lack of a clinical field has lead to a series of unforeseen and surprising
discoveries.
The simple classification of the endothelial cells themselves pose challenges. The
endothelium is, anatomically speaking, the inner lining of the blood and lymphatic
vessels.3 However, many characteristic structures such as fenestrae are not present on
every endothelial cell, and other features, e.g. caveolae, are not specific to the
endothelium. There are also other cells that form the inner lining of the blood vessels,
and therefore molecular markers are instead being used to differentiate. Furthermore,
endothelial cells arise from the mesoderm via hemangioblasts, however they may
differentiate instead into hematopoietic stem cells, and the endothelial progenitors
may themselves differentiate into other cell lineages. Due to these difficulties
endothelial cells are instead recognized with endothelium specific markers such as
vascular endothelial (VE) cadherin, E selectin, and vascular endothelial growth factor
receptors (VEGFR) 1 and 2.4 Even so, endothelial cells are typically considered
quiescent at the same time as the endothelium of the corpus luteum undergoes cycles
of intense physiological
What Is The Social Conflict In Chile
Some of the many social and class conflicts displayed in the movie are how both
the rich and poor classes have different political views, having the poor in favor of
Allende s socialist views while the rich are against it. It also, show how the upper
class always blames the lower class for what it s happening, creating a negative
relationship between the classes. The class and social conflicts can, also, be seen in
the school and how the students behave and the little respect the privileged kids
have towards the lower class kids. The political climate of Chile in 1973 was in an
important moment in time, where both sides were protesting about Chile s future.
The citizens were divided and protesting for what is best for them and for Chile, the

Although nude photo shoots are not revolutionary, social media has transformed the

Prohibition In Canada During The 1920 s
Prohibition was an act to try to cure Canada s broken society, but in several ways
was a failed experiment. What was also known as the temperance movement was a
path to hell paved with good intentions . Provinces went dry as the temperance
movement began to deprive the country of the substance that eased pain for many
and created good times and laughter for others by shutting down brewery s and
other alcohol related business , in order to satisfy the political and religious groups
who believed alcohol was breaking apart our Canadian society. Drunkenness was
believed to be a main factor in social problems, organized crime and mental/physical
health issues. This experiment was a waste to our country as the nation began to
rebel against this heavily enforced law by bootlegging, making unverified alcohol
and resenting politicians and religious groups for the dry spell that had spread
throughout the country. As Prohibition laws because stricter, bootlegging became a

Gambling has proven to be one of the more profitable things that the Mafia
provides. From their own private casinos to games for elite clientele, to booking
off track bets in Belmont and Saratoga, their profit margins are tremendous. In the

Greek And Roman Literature.an Epistolary Poem Essay
Introduction:
Epistolary poems are one of the ancient forms in literature which could be traced in
Greek and Roman literature. An epistolary poem is written in a form of letter
addressed to an individual or to a society. The term epistleis derived from the Latin
term Epistula which means a letter. Poets present their poems in the form of letters
appealing to emotions and feelings. Epistolary poems may be objective or
subjective, formal or colloquial, directed to an individual or to a general public. It
may take any form from heroic couplets to blank verse. While exploring the origin of
epistolary form in poetry, the scholars could peg varied themes being dealt in the
poems, from Philosophical concepts to daily mundane activities.
Letters is a powerful medium that brings people together. Philosophers,
sociologists, literary writers widely use the form of epistles to drive home their
views and ideas effectively. Exploring the origin of epistolary poems lucidly
illumines the fact that poets effuse their thoughts through epistles effectively.
Epistolary poems are penned for pedagogical purpose also. The poems of epistles
can be objective registering distant views pertaining to social issues or subjective
imparting personal feelings and emotions of the writer.
Origin of epistolary poems could be traced back to Roman Literature between 43
B.C to 17or 18 A.D when the great Roman poet Ovid wrote Heroides (The Heroines)

A small business server handles under 50 users and an enterprise server 50 or more.
Novell Netware, Windows NT, and other scalable server solutions will handle
various numbers of small business user loads. At a certain point a business will
require an enterprise server product. This OS will be capable of handling massive
user traffic and provide a total solution: a comprehensive set of software tools that
will allow a business to be run using computers. An enterprise OS will be run on a
minicomputer such as the HP9000 or a super microcomputer with large data

everything required for a business to gather and manipulate information throughout
the business as well as Internet access for customer support and business to

Implementing Effective Policies For Governing The Network
Requirements
The following corrective measures are listed in order of ease and importance.
Additionally, they are in order by feasibility. It is not feasible to enforce policies
when there are no policies. Without building non repudiation into the system it is
difficult to punish individuals violating enforced policies, and by the same token
without having granular data in the logs it is impossible to identify individuals
anyways. Because some items must be done before others, the foundation items are
listed prior to other items.
1. Policies
The most important step to securing the system is to publish effective policies for
governing the network. Without formal policies to guide the administrators there can
be no consistent management of the network. Without formal policies for acceptable
use the users will not have an understanding of what is unacceptable behavior and
unwanted behaviors such as sharing passwords will continue to be an issue.
Publishing a series of policies is a cheap and effective step for improving the current
security posture. Policies should be issued for at least all of the following items in
this section in order to create a baseline for acceptable use and security of the TKU
information systems.
2. Privileges
Administrator and user privileges should be limited in scope in order to prevent any
one individual from performing unauthorized actions on the network. Currently all
administrators have full access to all system resources. These administrator
Persuasive Essay On The First Flight
When Miguel appeared at the flight school where I was an instructor, there was no
indication of the relationship we would develop or of the adventures to come. I
would have laughed at anyone crazy enough to suggest that within a year he and I
would pilot a single engine plane from Phoenix, Arizona to Santiago, Chile. No
one could have predicted that along the way a woman in a remote village would
try to give us her baby or that we would find ourselves buzzing an airstrip to chase
away festival celebrants so we could land. The school offered a lesson called An
Intro Flight. Even though it wasn t really a lesson, the school advertised it as such
and offered it at a discount. The owners were hoping to entice people who d never
been up in a small plane to try the experience. Of course, the reason behind the
lesson was the belief that after the flight, people would fall in love with flying and
sign up for a series of lessons. The promotion was a joke. Earning a private pilot s
license involves 40 or more hours of flight time, qualifying grades on written
examinations, and passing a practical application test known as a check ride. There
is also an oral exam. Oh, and the cost exceeds $5,000. With one exception, people
attracted by the $35.00 lesson never signed up for another at full price; so they

man, Spider man ect. all share qualities that make them heroic. Whether they have
a special ability or they are just strong and brave people. Epic heroes and Medieval
heroes are two heroes that have qualities that are different. Medieval heroes are
brave, loyal, and gentlemanly while epic heroes are strong, brave, they possess non
human qualities, and can be a little cocky. Every super heroin movies day possess
some ability that makes them different from normal people just like epic heroes.
Epic heroes seem to be more alike modern day heroes than the medieval heroes
because their traits are very alike. Beowulfis a prime example of this because of his
super strength which can be compared to modern day hero superman.
Epic heroes are brave and strong characters that possess non human abilities and
can also be a little cocky. Take Beowulf as an example, he is a character that is
strong and does things that no regular person possesses while also being a little
cocky. An example of him being able to do things other humans can do is when he
is fighting Grendel. As he is fighting Grendel he ends the battle when he completely
rips off his arm. He twisted in pain, and the bleeding sinews deep in his shoulder,
snapped, muscle and bone split and broke, the battle was over Beowulf had been
granted new glory (Source A). This
Irene Redfield s Characters In Passing By Nella Larsen
Irene Redfield, as a third person limited narrator in the novel Passing by Nella
Larsen, perceives and remembers characters differently. For example, when it
comes to describing her old friend Clare Kendry, Irene s perception of her changes
so often that the reader feels they never truly gets to know her. For example, on
page 2 of the novel, it is stated: There had been, even in those days, nothing
sacrificial in Clare Kendry s idea of life, no allegiance beyond her own immediate
desire. She was selfish, and cold, and hard. Yet she had, too, a strange capacity of
transforming warmth and passion, verging sometimes on almost theatrical
heroics. (2) This description of Clare comes from when Irene is remembering, in
flashback, what she remembered Clare to be like as a child. One thing that stands
out most about this passage is the fact that Clare is described in a negative light.
All of her flaws are highlighted, and the description is written in such a way that
even when positive things are being said about Clare, they are put through a
negative light. It is strange, still, that Irene was thinking such varying thoughts on
Clare. It almost feels as though Irene never truly got to know Clare, only the
facades that she chose to wear. The differing options of how she perceived Clare
are perplexing. Clare is selfish but passionate, cold but warm. It makes the reader
wonder what Clare is truly like, because through this passage, they are only given one

Mothers in Jane Austen s Sense and Sensibility Essay
Mothers in Jane Austen s Sense and Sensibility
I can no more forget it, than a mother can forget her suckling child . Jane Austen
wrote these words about her novel, Sense and Sensibility, in a letter to her sister
Cassandra in 1811. Such a maternal feeling in Austen is interesting to note,
particularly because any reader of hers is well aware of a lack of mothers in her
novels. Frequently we encounter heroines and other major characters whom, if not
motherless, have mothers who are deficient in maturity, showing affection, and/or
common sense. Specifically, I would like to look at Sense and Sensibility, which,
according to Ros Ballaster s introduction to the novel, is full of, indeed over crowded
with, mothers (vii). By ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like Marianne, Mrs. Dashwood is romantic and whimsical, more prone to act on
feelings than reason. Also similar to her youngest daughter, she often misjudges both
the characters and situations of individuals. When Elinor tells Marianne of the
difficulties Mrs. Ferrars presents in marrying Edward, Marianne was astonished to
find how much the imagination of her mother and herself had outstripped the truth
(18). Furthermore, Mrs. Dashwood s reaction to Willoughby is just as naГЇve as
Marianne s. In Mrs. Dashwood s opinion, he was as faultless as in Marianne s (43). It
is only Elinor, acting with the maternal caution her mother does not possess, who has
reservations about Marianne s suitor.
Thus, Mrs. Dashwood clearly fails as an authority figure for her children. She does
not discourage them from acting recklessly (such as Marianne s trip to Miss Smith
s home with Willoughby without a chaperone), nor does she provide the sort of
structure or discipline that would prevent such situations from arising in the first
place. She does, however, possess the nurturing and affectionate disposition that
allows us to see her as, if not always a good mother, at least a loving and well
intentioned one. When Marianne becomes ill, it is only her mother s presence that
can put her at ease: Marianne s ideas were still, at intervals, fixed incoherently on her
mother (264).
Mrs. Jennings, like Mrs. Dashwood, is a good natured and kind woman,
The Growth Of The Brazilian Economy
As the largest economy in Latin America and seventh largest (by nominal GDP) in
the world, the Brazilian economy is experiencing many positive effects, characterized
by it s inward oriented economy and moderate free market trading, it has a diverse
and sophisticated services industryi. Although undergoing extensive makeover, the
financial sector provides local businesses with a wide variety of products and is
successfully bringing in new entrants, creating an upturn in the economy, and
furthermore incentivizing rural inhabitants to move to the more urban spacesii. What
is most striking about its urbanizationprocess is the rapid and advanced development
that it has undergone. For a process that took North America and Europe almost 150...

Some of the effects that have taken place from this urban migration is the poverty and
unlivable conditions of the favelas and the social divide that have put into question
the priories of the governmental policies and their spending; as well as the
pacification processes introduced by the police that has had negative outcomes,
where many see the new laws put in place as another way for the civilians to be
oppressing rather than improving the unemployment issuesvii. These structural
constraints are not helping address the issues of urban inequity, but rather feed into
the social and economic divide that are creating instability in the region, which
stigmatizes any responses to development, rather than encouraging equality.
The issues surrounding the rapid economic growth without consequentially
addressing the injustices due to the structural constraints were left unchallenged in
Brazil for a long timeviii. Problems like this have existed for over hundreds of
years due to its history of slavery, racial mixing and other patriarchal issues, but as
the country has progressed in financial sectors its economic and social complexities
have remained stagnant, and the laws have not caught up, making urbanization an
opportunity for the Page 1 of 7 wealthy to progress and contrastingly less chances for

The Political System of Scotland Essay example
The Political System of Scotland Unlike Wales, which was subdued by conquest in
the thirteenth century, Scotland was never permanently incorporated into the United
Kingdomby force of arms. In 1603 the succession of James I to the throne of England
united the crowns of England and Scotland. However, the union was only a personal
one and Scotland retained its own political and legal system and its own church. In
this essay I will explain the distinctive features of the Scottish political system,
describe the voting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the Treaty of Union the different national institutions would remain within the
Scottish political system. The Church of Scotland, which is Presbyterian, would
remain as the national Church, along with the Scottish legal system. In addition
Scotland would maintain a separate education system and a different system of local
government from that obtaining in England and Wales.
The Scottish legal system is the single most important factor explaining why
Scotland has been accorded separate governmental treatment since the Act of Union.
Unlike the English legal system, the Scottish system has depended more on the
principles of continental jurisprudence derived from Roman law than on indigenous
common law. Whenever a piece of legislation has been intended to apply to
Scotland as well as to England and Wales this has had to be achieved either by a
separate appendix to the measure of by a distinct Act for Scotland. In addition
Scotland has a separate system of courts and its own legal profession. The
independent legal system of Scotland is one of the strongest clues to the existence of
a Scottish Political system. The Scottish people are subject to Laws exclusive to
Scotland. Scottish national institutions are strong and constitutionally protected.
The political culture of Scotland has always been strong on its emphasis on

Rudyard Kipling s The Man Who Would Be King Essay
Rudyard Kipling s The Man who Would Be King deals with man s ability to rule.
The character Dravot s success and failure in ruling derives from the perception of
him as a god, instead of a king. Kipling uses the perception of Dravot as a god to
show that though a king can rule as a god, he becomes a king by being human.
Dravot gains kingly power by being perceived as a god. The perception of him as a
god occurs through his actions and luck. After helping the first village Peachy and
he find in Kafiristan, Dravot takes power from the former leaders. He becomes more
than a leader to the people, however, as every morning Dravot sat by the side of old
Imbra, and the people came and worshipped. That was Dravot s order (92). By ...

why of (95). The displaying of the mark proves Dravot as a god, since only the Gods
know that (99). Dravot establishes his kingdom by ruling as a god, not a king.
Dravot s perception as a god leads to his downfall by conflicting with his kingly
aspirations. He intends to establish a dynasty, and he needs a Queen to breed a King s
son for the King (98). Dravot plans to chose a woman from amongst his tribes; alas,
his people are skeptical of this, for How can daughters of men marry Gods or
Devils? (99). Dravot s god appearance directly conflicts with his aspiration for a
dynasty; he cannot find a wife who will want him as a god, yet he needs a woman
to bear his children. He ignores all warnings and proceeds to find and marry his
queen. The downfall of Dravot occurs on his wedding day, as his bride bites him
The slut s bitten me! says he, clapping his hand to his neck, and sure enough, his
hand was red with blood (100). The sight of blood awakens the natives to Dravot s
mortality. Shrieks of Not a God, not a Devil, but only a man! (100) proclaim in the
valley. The natives turn on Dravot, outraged at having thought him a god.
Dravot s acceptance of death defines him as a king. He

Fight Night 24 Thesis Statement
UFC Fight Night 119 heads back to Brazil this Saturday and will feature a top talent
looking to make a statement, and the return of a former champion. Derek Brunson,
the No. 7 ranked middleweight in the world, will take on Brazilian legend Lyoto
Machida in a fight that means something vastly different to both fighters.
For Brunson, Saturday s clash is a chance to defeat a legend and prove that he
belongs in the top 5 of the middleweight rankings. He s coming off a first round
TKO and dismantling of Daniel Kelly in June. Prior to defeating Kelly, Brunson was
on a two fight losing skid with losses to interim champion Robert Whitaker and long
time champion Anderson Silva.
The loss to Silva was highly controversial, as Brunson landed more ... Show more

During his respected career, Machida has had key wins over other big MMA names,
including Gegard Mousasi, Dan Henderson, Ryan Bader, Rashad Evans, Randy
Couture, Tito Ortiz, BJ Penn and Mauricio Shogun Rua.
Co main event
Saturday night s co main event is a welterweight bout between a highly ranked
veteran and a rising star looking to make a statement.
No. 3 ranked welterweight Demian Maia is fighting for the first time since losing to
champion Tyron Woodley in July. He ll take on the No. 8 ranked welterweight, Colby
Covington, with the benefit, or perhaps the added pressure, of fighting in his native
Brazil.
Prior to the unanimous decision loss to Woodley, Maia had reeled off seven straight
victories, using his superb jiu jitsu to his advantage against his opposition. Covington
has high level wrestling, which Maia will certainly test. Woodley was the first and
only fighter to completely shut down Maia s takedown attempts, so Covington will
have his hands full.
Covington is riding a four fight win streak, but Maia will without a doubt be his
toughest opponent yet. He last defeated Dong Hyun Kim in June, and his last loss
was in December 2015 to Warlley Alves. A win over Maia would likely propel him
into the top 5 of the welterweight division.
A win for Maia would put him right back in the title conversation, but he
The Characteristics Of The Baroque Era
Around the 17th century, the Baroque era contributed a new style than the previous
Renaissance era. The Baroque era thrived in all of Italy and eventually the remainder
of Europe. The Baroque era had new characteristics than music from before. Some
characteristics that could be heard in the music during this period include a more
definite and regular rhythm as compared to the floating rhythms of the Renaissance
era, a systematic meter due to the first use of bar lines, and clearer beats emphasized
by instruments. The change of rhythm and meters in the Baroque era created a mood
of deep emotion and seriousness. The texture of musicalso developed during this time.
The basso continuo enhanced both of the homophonic and polyphonic textures of the
Baroque music. Basso continuo, otherwise known as a continuous bass, used low
voices or instruments such as cellos or bassoons to advance the music of the time.
Initially, the basso continuo was the lowest part of the polyphony that was
strengthened by the chords, however, the basso continuo eventually was created
along with the chords and the higher polyphony was modified to complement it.
Chords during this era also became standardized and created tonality or a feeling of
a central part among a home pitch. The chords of the music from this era were
developed in a more logical fashion and they led to functional harmony. This music
also used different dynamics, called terraced dynamics, that were not used formerly.
Terraced dynamic
Dyeing Studies of Wool Fibers with Madder
In this study, the dyeing behavior of wool fabrics with madder has been studied. Also,
the effect of different mordants (potassium dichromate, stannous chloride, alum,
ferrous sulphate, lime, copper (I, II) sulphate, cobalt chloride, and nickel chloride) as
well as three mordanting procedures namely pre , meta and post mordanting on color
characteristics of the dyed samples has been investigated. The adsorptionisotherm of
madder on woolfibers was found to follow Freundlich type of adsorption. The addition
of salt and acid (pH 4.5) to the dyebath resulted in an increase of adsorption. In
relation to mordanting tests, the use of different mordants and mordanting procedures
gave various color characteristics on dyed wool fabrics. The results showed that all
the dyed samples, mordanted and unmordanted, were in the first quadrant of
CIEL*a*b* color space. Mordants such as potassium dichromate, ferrous sulphate and
copper (I, II) sulphate led to the darker and lower chromaticity compared to
unmordanted dyed sample while mordants stannous chloride, alum resulted in the
lighter and higher chromaticity values. Mordanting with the chlorides of cobalt and
nickel showed the minimal color difference (∆E) with the unmordanted dyed
sample. The fastness properties indicated that in general wash and light fastness of
the mordanted samples were higher than the unmordanted one.
Key words: wool, madder, mordant, fastness properties, natural dye.

The Person I Admire Essay. Paragraph about the person you admire most. The Person I Admire free ...

  • 1. The Person I Admire Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of admiration poses a unique challenge. The intricacies lie not only in the articulation of words but also in the depth of personal connection one must establish with the subject. The person you admire becomes a mirror reflecting your values, aspirations, and ideals. Expressing these sentiments coherently demands a delicate balance between admiration and objectivity. The difficulty arises from the need to capture the essence of the person in a narrative that is both engaging and authentic. One must navigate the fine line between gushing praise and a nuanced portrayal, avoiding clichГ©s and superficiality. Additionally, it requires introspection to understand the reasons behind the admiration, translating emotions into well-structured arguments. Moreover, the challenge extends to maintaining a captivating flow throughout the essay. Striking a harmonious balance between the introduction, body, and conclusion becomes crucial to keep the reader's interest alive. The narrative should unfold seamlessly, guiding the reader through a journey that mirrors the complexity of the admiration felt. Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding a mere regurgitation of facts and anecdotes. Instead, the essay should breathe life into the subject, offering insights that go beyond the surface. Developing a unique perspective requires thorough research and a deep understanding of the person's impact on your life. In conclusion, composing an essay on the person you admire demands a skillful intertwining of personal sentiments and writing prowess. It is an art that involves introspection, research, and the ability to transform emotions into a compelling narrative. Achieving this delicate balance is what makes writing such an essay a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or any other writing tasks, various resources are available. What would happen if you were transported back in time to Victorian England? Do you have the necessary survival instinct and the accessory survival skills? Can you use your knowledge of your own era to your advantage? BEEP BEEP! Congratulations! You have set foot onto the Londonstreets during the Victorian era. Unless you happen to know what the exchange rate of metals in the Victorian Era is? The Victorian jewellers can be pretty greedy, so if you walk into their shop looking like you have no clue what is what, they will not hesitate to take advantage of that. II.You are pickpocketed. Pickpockets are absolutely brutal during the Victorian Era, so: Watch. Your. Pockets. It would be a shame for your things to get stolen before you can sell it, since you are on your own if that happens. Sorry. III.You are accused of theft. This treatment does not require complicated surgical operations, the whole procedure is done by local anesthesia. Even dressings do not need to be used after surgery, while the recovery time is only 2 3 days. The main principle of this method is to use PDO (polydioxanone), hair thin, implanted under the skin in appropriate directions to stimulate collagen production, firming the skin. Only PDO made 100% from bio material and used in health care long ago. However, many cosmetic centers also add a few other types, including notably nano gold, which can prolong the effectiveness of treatment. • 6. Juan Rulfo s Pedro Paramo The main universal theme of Pedro Paramo is that death is inevitable. This is shown by the fact that everyone is dead in Comala. The author of Pedro Paramo is Juan Rulfo, he was born in Sayula, Mexico. His book collections such as The Burning Plain (1953) and the book Pedro Paramo made him a big literary figure. In Pedro Paramo, Juan is sent on a journey to find his father (Pedro which who the book is written after) who sent his mom away because she kept asking continually to see her sister. • 7. Film Review Of The First Time I Went At College The first time I went to college, I was a film major. I took a course that revolved around the evolution of movies from the first film ever made to the most recent. The instructor did little to hide her views on misogyny dominating the film industry. Since that class, I have been unable to shake her voice from my head while I watch even the most seemingly harmless of movies. If I had stayed in the filmindustry, I would have tried to change what I inevitably see in mainstream Hollywood movies time and time again films that fail the Bechdel test, a gross underrepresentation of women both in front of and behind the camera, and the blatant use of women as mere sexual objects in so many blockbuster movies. Looking at some popular films in the last few years provides a rollercoaster of waxing and waning hope for whether or not women are finding success in meaningful roles or continuing to serve as objects to be ogled. The Bechdel test was first made popular in Alison Bechdel s comic strip Dykes To Watch Out For in a 1985 strip titled The Rule. In the short cartoon a woman asks her girlfriend if she wants to see a movie. The girlfriend replies, telling her she only sees movies that pass the rule does it feature at least two women, with names, that talk to each other about something other than a man. From there the rule blossomed into a general measuring tool for the presence of women in fictional films. I remember sitting in my film class watching a YouTube video that

Leland Hartwell received his Bachelor of Science from California Institute of Technology and later he went on to receive his Doctor of Philosophy in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Also, in 2001, he was awarded the Noble Prize in Physiology or Medicine. From this lecture I learned how important it is to always do more and how important teamwork is. It is evident that Hartwell is an extremely knowledgeable and successful man, but I believe that the reason for this is because he has always been willing to do more. By using these people together who have different educational backgrounds and experiences, each will be able to provide their ideas and this can make for amazing devices. Finally, in the beginning of this video, Hartwell discussed how he had a biological background, but he mentioned how he is currently learning how engineering and health sciences integrate with one another. After I obtain my degree, I want to become a medical scientist and the reason why I am currently a Computer Science major is because I want to be able to incorporate all of the advancing technology in the health field. This lecture was inspiring because knowing that there are others that want to incorporate engineering in the medical field gives me motivation to continue this path because they are out there on the field and they know what will make a

If everyone was truly equal George wouldn t have been able to make a more correct reasoning than another person and choose different actions based on knowledge and reason. This just once again proves that even in a perfect society not everything is perfect. At the end of the story and at the climax the reader learns about the character Harrison Bergeron. The genius boy starts to plot to overthrow the handicapper General and her government. By escaping from jail Harrison proceeds to a TV studio to proclaim his revolt to the rest of the society. Once ripping off his handicaps and the handicaps of the rest of the people in the TV studio area, Harrison began to show the joys of having talents. Grief, Loss, And Loss Jaehun Lee D Block, Film Studies 10/16/16 Grief, Loss, and Everything Josh Kos would Floss (this is not the actual title) Grief and loss are some of the most defining characteristics of the human experience. Therefore, dealing with grief and loss is one of the most important things humans must learn. While there are many approaches, Jennifer Kent uses her film The Babadook to suggest that suppression is not a healthy way to deal with grief. By thoughtfully planning the mise en scene, soundtrack, and narrative storytelling, Kent teaches viewers that suppression causes the inner monster to come out in all of us, just as it did to Amelia in The Babadook. In The Babadook, suppression of grief is at the root of all of Amelia s personal problems. Suppressing her grief resulted in her becoming isolated from everyone around her, from her co worker Robby, her sister Claire, to even her son Sam. Because she was so wrapped up in suppressing memories of her husband, Amelia lost touch with the living world, and is left in an awkward limbo between her past and her present. Once the Babadook is unleashed, suppression of grief leads to paranoia for Amelia. As she continues to have visions, Amelia is trapped in a different limbo between reality and inside her mind, and as she continues to suppress her grief, her situation becomes progressively worse. Amelia s house and the tree across the street from Amelia s house are important motifs throughout The Babadook. However, while trees and

Both Ludwig Beethoven s Appassionata piano sonata and Franz Liszt s B minor sonata are recognized as some of the best compositions of the nineteenth century. The complexity and creativity of these pieces are astonishing. Considering both pieces are sonatas they have some similar aspects, but they are also very different which can be credited to the brilliant minds who composed them. These pieces are both masterpieces of their time which is what has made them stand out amongst the many songs composed during the nineteenth century. In this paper I will touch on the significant attributes of these pieces and compare their similarities and differences. The first piece I will introduce is Appassionata by Ludwig Van Beethoven. Appassionata was composed during a time of many changes in both Beethoven s life and the musical world around him. By 1800 Beethoven s hearing had deteriorated so much that he was almost completely deaf. Although this was not something easy to cope with, Beethoven did not let this obstacle hinder his career. In fact, in many aspects his works flourished, and a new wave of creativity sparked in his career. Beethoven was not the first to compose a multimovement piece for the piano, but he was the first to stray from the former expectations of piano sonatas. Beethoven s new sonatas were longer than most and incorporated dramatic elements. With just one instrument Beethoven was able to convey so much power and emotion, something that no one at the time

  • 26. United States Census Bureau Population Projection According to the December 2012 United States Census Bureau Population Projection, the nation will continue its trend of consistent diversification. By 2024, the non Hispanic white population will show a decrease in numbers. Minorities including Hispanics, African Americans and Asians will double, and other groups will increase by at least half. Eventually, non Hispanic whites will not be seen as a majority, but as an equally represented group among its ethnic counterparts (U.S. Bureau, 2014). This projection can not be transposed to the country s nursing population. Non Hispanic white nurses often vastly outnumber other groups (Bessent, 2009, p6). The nursing workforce needs to actively and continually diversify its professionals to provide competent care for the nation s ever changing population. The first step to gaining an equally represented nursing workforce is to ensure all races receive an opportunity to advance their education and become registered nurses. Many cultural beliefs are obstacles for minorities. Families believe that a woman s place is just within the household or that college is not an option for their children (Wros, Doutrich, and Ruiz, 2009). Although scientists were aware of blood vessels and their role in circulation, it wasn t until the early 1960s that the endothelium was able to be seen with electron microscopy and therefore be differentiated and characterized.1 The recognition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hematologists are all too aware of the role of the endothelium in atherosclerosis, while hepatologists recognize the important of sinusoidal endothelial cells for liver regeneration. The uniqueness of the endothelium coupled with the difficulties caused by a lack of a clinical field has lead to a series of unforeseen and surprising discoveries. The simple classification of the endothelial cells themselves pose challenges. The endothelium is, anatomically speaking, the inner lining of the blood and lymphatic vessels.3 However, many characteristic structures such as fenestrae are not present on every endothelial cell, and other features, e.g. caveolae, are not specific to the endothelium. There are also other cells that form the inner lining of the blood vessels, and therefore molecular markers are instead being used to differentiate. Furthermore, endothelial cells arise from the mesoderm via hemangioblasts, however they may differentiate instead into hematopoietic stem cells, and the endothelial progenitors may themselves differentiate into other cell lineages. Due to these difficulties endothelial cells are instead recognized with endothelium specific markers such as vascular endothelial (VE) cadherin, E selectin, and vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR) 1 and 2.4 Even so, endothelial cells are typically considered quiescent at the same time as the endothelium of the corpus luteum undergoes cycles of intense physiological

Without building non repudiation into the system it is difficult to punish individuals violating enforced policies, and by the same token without having granular data in the logs it is impossible to identify individuals anyways. Because some items must be done before others, the foundation items are listed prior to other items. 1. Without formal policies to guide the administrators there can be no consistent management of the network. Without formal policies for acceptable use the users will not have an understanding of what is unacceptable behavior and unwanted behaviors such as sharing passwords will continue to be an issue. The owners were hoping to entice people who d never been up in a small plane to try the experience. Of course, the reason behind the lesson was the belief that after the flight, people would fall in love with flying and sign up for a series of lessons. The promotion was a joke. Earning a private pilot s license involves 40 or more hours of flight time, qualifying grades on written examinations, and passing a practical application test known as a check ride. There is also an oral exam. Oh, and the cost exceeds $5,000. With one exception, people attracted by the $35.00 lesson never signed up for another at full price; so they certainly wouldn t commit to the additional time, effort, and expense of earning a certificate. Although Kevorkian was brought to court and it was confirmed that Gale had said Take it off during the procedure, Kevorkian was ruled innocent. Factors of the ruling included the lack of laws regarding assisted suicide in Michigan, lack of motive, and the varying interpretations of Gale s words (Marlinga). Kevorkian and his business would raise interesting questions about the nature of assisted suicide and euthanasia in the United States. Kevorkian s trials would not be the only ones. All over the world people would begin to pry into the morality and ethics of euthanasia. And in doing so they began to venture into the unknown territory of euthanasia policy. Following its legalization, legislators around the world made attempts to ensure that euthanasia was safe and properly controlled. But in spite

Superhero s today like Superman, Iron man, Spider man ect. all share qualities that make them heroic. Whether they have a special ability or they are just strong and brave people. For example, when it comes to describing her old friend Clare Kendry, Irene s perception of her changes so often that the reader feels they never truly gets to know her. For example, on page 2 of the novel, it is stated: There had been, even in those days, nothing sacrificial in Clare Kendry s idea of life, no allegiance beyond her own immediate desire. She was selfish, and cold, and hard. Yet she had, too, a strange capacity of transforming warmth and passion, verging sometimes on almost theatrical heroics. (2) This description of Clare comes from when Irene is remembering, in flashback, what she remembered Clare to be like as a child. One thing that stands out most about this passage is the fact that Clare is described in a negative light. All of her flaws are highlighted, and the description is written in such a way that even when positive things are being said about Clare, they are put through a negative light. It is strange, still, that Irene was thinking such varying thoughts on Clare. It almost feels as though Irene never truly got to know Clare, only the facades that she chose to wear. The differing options of how she perceived Clare are perplexing. Clare is selfish but passionate, cold but warm. It makes the reader wonder what Clare is truly like, because through this passage, they are only given one person s

Jane Austen wrote these words about her novel, Sense and Sensibility, in a letter to her sister Cassandra in 1811. Such a maternal feeling in Austen is interesting to note, particularly because any reader of hers is well aware of a lack of mothers in her novels. Frequently we encounter heroines and other major characters whom, if not motherless, have mothers who are deficient in maturity, showing affection, and/or common sense. Specifically, I would like to look at Sense and Sensibility, which, according to Ros Ballaster s introduction to the novel, is full of, indeed over crowded with, mothers (vii). By ... Also similar to her youngest daughter, she often misjudges both the characters and situations of individuals. When Elinor tells Marianne of the difficulties Mrs. Ferrars presents in marrying Edward, Marianne was astonished to find how much the imagination of her mother and herself had outstripped the truth (18). Furthermore, Mrs. Dashwood s reaction to Willoughby is just as naГЇve as Marianne s. In Mrs. Dashwood s opinion, he was as faultless as in Marianne s (43). It is only Elinor, acting with the maternal caution her mother does not possess, who has reservations about Marianne s suitor. Thus, Mrs. Dashwood clearly fails as an authority figure for her children. She does not discourage them from acting recklessly (such as Marianne s trip to Miss Smith s home with Willoughby without a chaperone), nor does she provide the sort of structure or discipline that would prevent such situations from arising in the first place. She does, however, possess the nurturing and affectionate disposition that allows us to see her as, if not always a good mother, at least a loving and well intentioned one. When Marianne becomes ill, it is only her mother s presence that can put her at ease: Marianne s ideas were still, at intervals, fixed incoherently on her mother (264). The Scottish legal system is the single most important factor explaining why Scotland has been accorded separate governmental treatment since the Act of Union. Unlike the English legal system, the Scottish system has depended more on the principles of continental jurisprudence derived from Roman law than on indigenous common law. Whenever a piece of legislation has been intended to apply to Scotland as well as to England and Wales this has had to be achieved either by a separate appendix to the measure of by a distinct Act for Scotland. The character Dravot s success and failure in ruling derives from the perception of him as a god, instead of a king. Kipling uses the perception of Dravot as a god to show that though a king can rule as a god, he becomes a king by being human. Dravot gains kingly power by being perceived as a god. The perception of him as a god occurs through his actions and luck. After helping the first village Peachy and he find in Kafiristan, Dravot takes power from the former leaders. • 51. The Characteristics Of The Baroque Era Around the 17th century, the Baroque era contributed a new style than the previous Renaissance era. The Baroque era thrived in all of Italy and eventually the remainder of Europe. The Baroque era had new characteristics than music from before. Some characteristics that could be heard in the music during this period include a more definite and regular rhythm as compared to the floating rhythms of the Renaissance era, a systematic meter due to the first use of bar lines, and clearer beats emphasized by instruments. The change of rhythm and meters in the Baroque era created a mood of deep emotion and seriousness. The texture of musicalso developed during this time. The basso continuo enhanced both of the homophonic and polyphonic textures of the Baroque music. Basso continuo, otherwise known as a continuous bass, used low voices or instruments such as cellos or bassoons to advance the music of the time. Initially, the basso continuo was the lowest part of the polyphony that was strengthened by the chords, however, the basso continuo eventually was created along with the chords and the higher polyphony was modified to complement it. Chords during this era also became standardized and created tonality or a feeling of a central part among a home pitch. The chords of the music from this era were developed in a more logical fashion and they led to functional harmony. This music also used different dynamics, called terraced dynamics, that were not used formerly. Terraced dynamic

Also, the effect of different mordants (potassium dichromate, stannous chloride, alum, ferrous sulphate, lime, copper (I, II) sulphate, cobalt chloride, and nickel chloride) as well as three mordanting procedures namely pre , meta and post mordanting on color characteristics of the dyed samples has been investigated. The adsorptionisotherm of madder on woolfibers was found to follow Freundlich type of adsorption. The addition of salt and acid (pH 4.5) to the dyebath resulted in an increase of adsorption. In relation to mordanting tests, the use of different mordants and mordanting procedures gave various color characteristics on dyed wool fabrics. The results showed that all the dyed samples, mordanted and unmordanted, were in the first quadrant of CIEL*a*b* color space. Mordants such as potassium dichromate, ferrous sulphate and copper (I, II) sulphate led to the darker and lower chromaticity compared to unmordanted dyed sample while mordants stannous chloride, alum resulted in the lighter and higher chromaticity values. Mordanting with the chlorides of cobalt and nickel showed the minimal color difference (∆E) with the unmordanted dyed sample. The fastness properties indicated that in general wash and light fastness of the mordanted samples were higher than the unmordanted one.
