My name is George Fletcher and I over see the mediteranian arciological dicoveries. I work for the
MCPD the Medertaeranion Culteral Preservation Department. Pompeii has given us so much
unwritten history that we would have never known if it wasn t for the city pompeii. The city is
a one of a kind since it has been frozen in time of the very day that mount versuvius erputed. It
has given us nolage on not only the rich and the weathly but also the common person. As a
cultural preservationilist I belive that such a site should be excivated, preseved and on display
for the public to see. This report will tell you some of the things that will be destroyed if you do
build a high rise on the site where pompeii lays. Things like the Architecture and the day to day
culture will never be seen because of something that could have been preveted destroyed them.
This report will contain noladge that we have on the Arcgitecture of some of the local buildings,
the excavations of the bodies and the diet and and eaterys of Pompeii.

Arguments can be extremely frustrating. Sometimes no matter how accurate a particular
perspective appears to someone, it may be impossible to convince another to feel the same. The
differences in fundamental values between people are responsible for the differences the formation
of opinions. The manner in which people adopt these core beliefs is no mystery, and is explored in
the documentary Jesus Camp. Humans are social animals, and cultural systems have been
established since the beginning of humanity to strengthen the quality of interactions. Human babies
are unable to raise themselves, and require the care of adults to foster. Throughout the process of
development, children adopt the culture presented to them by adults. Children, who are
psychologically developing, are extremely malleable in comparison to adults. This makes them an
important focus for an adult generation looking to succeed their beliefs. This film inspects the
strong Evangelical upbringing several families practice with their children, portraying this in an
unflattering manner. All cultures are different, and these differences should be praised as well as
made compatible with modern society as much as possible.
Indoctrination should be accepted because it is unavoidable and only seems negative to an outsider.

try to solve our problems instead of running away from them. In The Necklace by Guy de
Maupassant, the protagonist, Matilde is a poor individual who is unsatisfied with her lack of
being wealthy. Once she is invited to a ball party, she begins to feel terrible due to the fact that she
is poor. So, to look more wealthy, Matilde decides to borrow a necklace from a friend to make
herself look more wealthy. But as soon as Matilde loses the necklace, problems begin to occur.

As said, Matilde borrows a necklace to make herself look more wealthy at the ball party, but she

borrowing a necklace, Matilde ends up losing the necklace, due to her carelessness of thinking

be lending the necklace, meaning that she would have responsibility over it while she was doing

Testing Reaction Times of Local and Global Perception Essay

Abstract
This study examined visual perception and the rates at which global and local features are
reacted to with an aim of replicating and validating a previous experiment conducted by Navon
(1977) to see if global processing was faster than local processing. There was 222 University of
Newcastle students participating in the experiment, partaking in two phases, one centred round
global processing, the other around local processing, where there reaction times were recorded
using a computer program and imputed into a data worksheet. Results indicated that, as predicted,

It was therefore hypothesised that the reaction times for global judgments would be faster than the
reaction times of local judgments. It was also hypothesised that consistent stimuli would be faster
than conflicting stimuli in the local tasks.
Method
Participants
The sample for this study consisted of 222 participants who were second year psychology students
from the University of Newcastle. All students were participating as part of a course requirement
and all had given their consent to participating in the study.
Design
The independent variables consisted of 3 consistency types (contingent, neutral and conflicting
displays). The dependant variable was the reaction time of participants.
Apparatus
A computerised program SuperLab Pro and a keyboard was required in order to record reaction
times.
Stimuli
In the first phase of this study that was based around recognising global features, the letters used
were large H s or S s. In the second phase, global letters of H, S and O were used and were made up
of smaller H s or S s, the local characters. These make up the 3 stimulus types: congruent, neutral
and conflicting. The large and small letters could be combined to create 3 types of displays: 1)
Consistent, where the large and small letters were the same (H printed from small H s, or S made
