Factors That Affect Our Soil Affects Them And Their
Movements
C. elegans are a nematode a member of the phylum nematode family. They are
roundworms with smooth, unsegmented skin and are about one millimeter in length.
C. elegans. The do not have a respiratory and circulatory system, but they do have a
hypodermis, excretory system and muscles.(1) They are model organisms to use in
experiments because they have a short life span, which makes them manageable,
they are inexpensive, and most importantly they are transparent.(2) Therefore,
whatever you do to them you will be able to see through a microscope. I conducted a
research on C. elegans to test to see how every day fertilizerthat we apply to our soil
affects them and their movements. When you are putting fertilizer on your soil you
are adding extra nutrients to the soil to make your yard look nicer. Although, if you
are not careful you may also be putting too much fertilizer on your soil which is
raising the concentration of all the nutrients in the soil abnormally
Therefore, the reason for my experiment is to see how adding fertilizer may affect
C. elegans. This research is important because, if we don t know what happens if we
add fertilizer to C. elegans environment, then we can potentially be killing them.
Therefore, if we are killing the C. elegans, then we are killing the environment itself.
My hypothesis on this experiment is that NPK fertilizer will affect C. elegans
negatively, causing them to decrease in motion and repel from the fertilizer.

A Brief Look at World War II
World War II World War II was the largest war and the bloodiest war that the U.S.
has ever been involved in. Forty to Fifty million people lost their lives during
World War II. This was a war that lasted for about six years and involved countries
from around the whole world. The axis powers in the war consisted of Germany,
Italy, and Japan. The Allie powers consisted of the United States, France, Great
Britain, the Soviet Union, and to a lesser extent, China. It is said that unsettled
disputes from the first world war, World War I, is what was the main cause of
WWII. Japan trained men for the war starting at the age of nine years old. It is said
that of all the Soviet men that were born in the year 1923, only twenty percent
survived the war. This means eighty percent of all males died in the war. That s
from one country, imagine how many innocent lives were taken during the war. All
because of one man, Adolf Hitler. The war stemmed off in early 1939 when German
dictator Adolf Hitler had intentions of invading Poland. Poland knew about this, so
they went to France and Britain for an alliance should Germany invade them. When
Germany heard about this, they decided it would be good to take out the Soviets
because they didn t know if they would fight on Poland s side or not. On August 23,
1939, Germany and the Soviets signed the German Soviet Nonaggression pact. This
stated that once Poland was taken over, the country would be divided evenly between
the two power countries.
Chihuahua Essay
Chihuahua are my favorite animal in this world. Chihuahuas are incredibly unique in
so many ways. No other dog can compare to a Chihuahua. There are multiple reasons
why Chihuahuas are the perfect pet. Chihuahuas are very small, have outstanding
personalities in their lives, and an extraordinary history. The man and the dogcome
together. In the first place, dogs have a connection with people on the hunting trail,
although, dogs could have helped people for many years. Man s best friend has
provided safety, friendship, and hunting benefits from the day of the early human
resolution, in which dogs and humans became excellent friends. The history and
origin of the Chihuahua is a debate fuelled by much speculation and theory. It is...

Not to mention, they were used for plenty of jobs by people, like herding livestock,
pulling carts, to catch varmints, scaring away animals, and hunting predators.
Because of these thing, chihuahuas are more than just a beautiful pet to play with.
Chihuahuas have outstanding personality s. They are very respectful, if you treat
them nicely, then Chihuahuas won t bite or bark at you. Accordingly, you need to
be responsible and earn the Chihuahua s respect by taking care of them, petting them
in a friendly manner, giving them food and water every day, giving them a bath so
they won t sink, picking up their poop, brushing their teeth so that could have fresh
breath, and giving medicine to the Chihuahuas when they get sick, like throwing up
or a fever. In addition, their bed, must also be clean and fluffy so the Chihuahuas can
sleep peacefully at night and that s how to get the Chihuahuas respect. Chihuahuas
are very playful and get entertained easily, and by just playing with them, they won t
get bored. Simply going to the park to play frisbee, throwing a ball or a stick so the
Chihuahuas could play catch with their mouth, and makes them more than overjoyed.
Chihuahuas are entertaining, they make adorable faces that will always make you
laugh and smile, they are always doing strange things, which are truly amazing to
witness It s impossible not to be entertained by them with the way they act. Then just

Free Cash Flow for Starbucks
My company is Starbucks, which is a quick service chain coffee shop. Among its
many competitors is McDonald s, especially since they created their McCafe concept.
The homepage of the company is http://www.starbucks.com/. There are a number of
sources of financial information about the company. The published annual reports are
available online (http://investor.starbucks.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=99518 p=irol
reportsannual). These are not usually revised. For revised and/or restated financial
statements, MSN Moneycentral is a reliable aggregator of such information, and also
produces some of the key ratios. http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/key
ratios?symbol=SBUX
My interest in the company is that it is well known and has had some ups and
downs in the past few years that make it an interesting company to study. In addition,
both the company and its major competitors are publicly traded, which makes doing
a comparison easier than if I chose a company whose major competitor was a
subsidiary or otherwise not publicly traded.
The return on assets for Starbucks is 17.7%, while the ROA for McDonalds is 17.0%.
Competitive financial position is not a known financial analysis concept. There is a
competitive position and there is a financial position, but the conflation of these two
is not known, and indeed a Google search of the term shows zero instances in which
those three words are used in sequence.
The competitive position of Starbucks is fairly strong, but nowhere near
What Is Cross Examination In Chief
While explaining regarding the examination in chief, Mr Rahmat had tried his best
to give as simple meaning of it. He stated that examination in chief is actually a
witness which being called to give evidence, s/he will be questioned first by either
public prosecutor or the advocate representing them. The purpose of this step is to
elicit from the witness all the facts supporting that party s case that are within the
personal knowledge of that witness. From this step also the witnesses called may
refresh their memory from documents provided certain conditions are met. Mr
Rahmat also had touch regarding the Leading questions . He explains that the
meaning of leading question is questions which invite a witness to give a particular
response. This kind of question should generally not be asked in examination in
chief. Mr Rahmat also had explain that there are several exception... Show more

subsequently to call evidence. This should be borne in mind by the advocate when
attending the trial, if that there may have been an oversight, and that evidence
intended to go before the court has not been introduced, that advocate should inform
the public prosecuter before, and not after, the close of the prosecution case. Mr
Rahmat also had tried his best to explain the meaning of cross examination. He
stated that cross examination is that after a witness has given evidence in chief, s/he
may be cross examined on behalf of the other parties, including any co accused. It is
may not needed for cross examination if a witness has not said anything which
damages the prosecution case, or with which advocate s witnesses disagree. If there
are no questions in cross examination, the witness s statement were generally
considered by court as unchallenged, and
Immigrants As A Better Life For Their Future
All people are diverse and come from many backgrounds. Most people settled here in
America as an immigrant to start a better life for their future generations and for
opportunities. Most people came here with nothing but bringing along their cultures,
knowledge, beliefs and behaviors which they can be shared amongst others in groups
and society. In society, starting with the earlier generation there was always shared
culture of classes, although everyone portrays immigrants as the lowest status. They
are always disliked particularly for coming here as an immigrant, even though most of
their backgrounds or their parent s background statuses were very much similar
whether they wantto admit it or not. It s how they hold themselves in society. People
are divided into different classes and treated differently. Most immigrants have to
settle in, adapting to the American lifestyle, whether they like it or not, they ll have
to blend in and start off with low paying jobs and making new friends. Adapting to
lifestyle, the choice of food and to how they communicate. It is always harder for
immigrants to unite with everyone since people are so strict against immigrants; they
judge them as outcasts by what they eat, what they wear and especially how one
communicates. High culture/elites think they are higher ranking so therefore there is
always miscommunication. They think they are way better and wouldn t want except
one another because of status or flaws. In the reading Mother
A Report On Aluminum Recycling
Aluminum recycling is the process by which scrap aluminum is reprocessed to be
used in products after its initial production. Aluminum producers and recyclers in the
aluminum industry work with individuals, businesses, and communities to enable
both curbside and industrial recycling programs. For most aluminum products, the
metal is not consumed during the products lifetime, but it is simply used making it
easy to recycle without losing its intrinsic properties. Used beverage container (UBC)
recyclingis the most recognized of the aluminum recycling programs. However, end
of life recycling of certain products like building parts and cars allows for the
production of recycled materials like window frames, wire, tubing and electronic
parts. The following is step by step process of aluminum recycling:
Collection of Scrap Aluminum
Drinks cans, aluminum foil trays, and aerosol cans are collected from homes, streets
and garbage collection centres by hired individuals or business people who major in
aluminum collection. They are sometimes mixed with steel cans. The scrap
aluminum is then collected together and then it is transported to the treatment plant.
Sorting
The mixed metals (aluminum and steel cans) are taken to a materials recovery
facility where they are cleaned, sorted into different metal streams and later
compressed into bales. This step is very important in ensuring that the aluminum is
separated from other metals. It is important to point out that drink cans

Omelas Perfect Society
For centuries, every society has believed that they are a flawless society and will
strive till the end of time. These societies are oblivious to the inevitable collapse of
their civilization, no matter how perfect they once saw themselves. The Ones
Who Walk Away From Omelas by Ursula Le Guin is described as a mythical
society and is shown to be perfect until one finds out what their happiness is based
upon. The happiness of the Omelas is based on the suffering of a child that is kept
under the city. Their society is imperfect by the suffering of a child that is caged in
under the city. The allegory created a battle with happiness, coping and suffering.

It is corrupted by the suffering of a child to show everyone why they should be
happy and how precious life is. It also shows everyone what their city is based on
and how cruel it can be. Some will witness the sight of the child, They all know it
is there, all the people of the Omelas so they cannot deny not knowing about the
child under the city (Le Guin 3). This may lead to some citizens leaving the city
because of the guilt they feel. The child suffering arises more feelings than
happiness, like guilt and fear. But, no one will help the child because they do not
want to ruin the potential of the city becoming unhappy. The treatment of the child is
very immoral, but even those who want to help the child do not know how. This
Utopian society is more corrupt than perfect; bringing a possible fall of the
civilization or at least getting rid of the tradition to abuse a
Miguel Hidalgo And Allende
By 1811, Miguel Hidalgo and Ignacio Allende were left with no moves against the
Spanish army. The Mexican army had won victories at Guanajuato and Monte de
las Cruces but were still being chased around Mexico by the royalist army.
Occupying the city of Guadalajara, Hidalgo and Allende would hold their ground at
the Calderon Bridge. Hidalgos army had grown to some 80,000 thanks to the Grito
de Dolores. Even though some of the better trained and armed soldiers had defected,
most fighters were poor peasants and Indians armed with machetes, axes, knives and
clubs. Most couldn t even communicate with one another because they spoke
different languages, yet they still defeated the better trained royalist army. Hidalgo

What Australian Fashion Retailers Can Learn from Zara s...
What Australian fashion retailers can learn from Zara s product management process
to improve their business
Australian fashion retailer these days are facing a huge struggle by selling over
priced clothes. However, the globalization has poked Australian retailers to found
themselves in the midst of an international fashion invasion, while the markets found
themselves starstruck on the attractiveness that international retailers offer.
The condition of Australian fashion retailers have been under serviced and
underwhelmed when it comes to fashion choice, especially in affordable variety
(Wells 2013). There are only numerous fashion labels are available to dress 23
million people. In addition, the price cannot be compared to international brands ;
the volumes produced by big international retailers like Zara and H M are to service
global market, unlike Sportsgirl or Country Road who produce much smaller volumes.
This does not conclude that Australian fashion retailers will not survive in the near
future, although it does make some of them to stand on their toes. Domestic retailers
are forced to turn around their fashion clothes much faster to avoid the merchandise
cannibalizing by Zara. On the other side of the card, for being fast fashion, Zara may
also meet its peak of a slower consumption. Consumers have now become aware of
the impact of fast fashion that may harm environments and work ethic. Even though,
Zara has anticipated the issues by coming up with their
The Low Power Optimization Techniques
Introduction The low power optimization techniques are very crucial for next
generation wireless communication and battery powered signal processing
applications. Several low power optimization techniques at circuit level and device
level were implemented in past two decades to achieve low power Very Large
Scale Integration (VLSI) designs. However the continuously growing low power
demand motivates researchers to evolve even low power designs. The architecture
level low power optimization is possible for signal processing and the
communication applications considering the dynamically fluctuating signal value.
1.1 Static Vs Dynamic Power The amount of energy consumed per operation and the
heat dissipated by the circuit are determined by the power consumption of a design.
A great number of critical design decisions, like the battery lifetime, supply line
sizing, power supply capacity, packing and cooling requirements are being influenced
by the above factors. Power dissipation is an important property of a design that
affects feasibility, cost, and reliability. However, the number of circuits that can be
integrated onto a single chip, and how fast they are allowed to switch are determined
by their high performance computing, power consumption limits and the heat
removal system (Jan M. Rabaey). In present era of increasing mobile computing
applications, for the amount of energy stored in battery, the achievable number of
computations directly depend on power consumption of

Confronting an ongoing world economic recession and very high rates of
unemployment throughout certain parts of the world such as Europe, the EEC was
looking for many new ways to get the most out of its union. June, 1984, a meeting in
Fontainebleau, France, established a Committee on Institutional Affairs under the
chairmanship of Irish Senator James Doodge. The committee proposed not only that
the EEC work harder toward achieving the already stated goal of abolishing frontiers
with the common market, but also that the European Parliament be given more
decision making power and the European Community be allowed a greater role in
security and defense matters. Lord Arthur Cockfield, Who was responsible for

Statement Of Purpose In Biology
The study of DNA, RNA and proteins without which life could not exist caught my
attention right from school days and prompted me to take up biology as one of the
major courses at high school. During my high school coursework I gained both
theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of life sciences and I got fascinated

1972 the nation celebrated as Paul Henderson scored with only thirty four seconds

The Problem Of Self Esteem
Abstract
Drug addiction, prostitution as well as prostitution are the most social problems in
the current society. On the other self esteem is one of the most important variables
that have a significant influence on these challenges. This research aims to
investigate the role of self esteem in peoples with the tendency to addiction,
prostitution, as well as theft in Kerman city, Iran. The paper is divided into various
sections starting from introduction, literature review, finding and conclusion.
Introduction
Self esteem is all about the thought feeling and emotion regarding how an individual
thinks about himself or herself. Self esteem may lead to positive impact as well as
negative consequences (Claiborne, Sirgy 2015). For ... Show more content on

Conversely, a healthy individual self esteem is upon their capabilities to understand
themselves precisely, as well as the ability to accept and value their selves. Therefore,
it means that a person may realistically recognize his or her weakness and strengths.
Methods
This was just a causal comparative research since the study aimed at identifying the
role of self esteem in the tendency towards drug abuse, prostitution, and theft. To
carry out the research, the self esteem level was measured and reordered among the
group of unhealthy and ordinary people. The sample composed of 300 people out
of whom 200 of them have been imprisoned in Kerman Jail with the bad history of
drug abuse, theft, and prostitution, while the rest were just ordinary people without
any criminal record. Due to inadequate response in answering and returning of the
questionnaires only 283 unhealthy and healthy people were regarded as the study.
The data collection tool was 30 questions Eyesenck self esteem which is the
reliability and validity has confirmed 16 chi squares were employed for data analysis.
Findings
It was realized that those with low self esteem tend to engage in dangerous
behaviors. For instance, the tendency of people towards robbery (P = 0.001),
prostitution (P = 0.001) and (P = 0.001), these was obtained through chi square. So the
addicted subjects were those with the history of prostitution while the prostitution
was found to have lower self esteem than the
Animal Farm Absolute Power Corrupts
In George Orwell s classic work Animal Farm the animals on the farm rise up and
overthrow their owner only to have a more vicious dictator set in place by the pigs.
Though at the start of the rebellion things were better than they were before with
human masters, slowly over a span of many years the pigs with their leader
Napoleon put in place an even harsher dictatorship than before. Power tends to
corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Lord Acton said this in a letter in the
year 1887. Animal Farm follows this to an absolute T.
Before the start of the rebellion man had complete and absolute power over all the
animals. The previous owner of the farm, Jones, ran the farm with absolutely no
regard to how the animals were treated. All of the animals were often unfed and
lacking proper nutrition. Many of the animals like pigs, cattle and horses were

enough. They rose up and overthrew Jones and his men. After overthrowing Jones
with nobody to lead it created a power vacuum for people to lead. Along with the
other pigs the head of the animal farm came down to three people; Napoleon,
Snowball and Squealer.
Napoleon and Snowball fight for power for awhile leading a more democratic type
government amongst the animals while squealer was used as more of a herald to
communicate and explain things to the rest of the animals. After a while however
Napoleon decided he would eliminate the competition. He uses a set of dogs he had
trained since birth to drive Snowball out from the animal farm. The rest of the pigs
then spread false rumors of how Snowball had dealings with humans and that he was
plotting the downfall of the farm. He then assumes complete and absolute power for
How Does MLK Use Logos Used In The I Have A Dream
In the year of 1963 America was a horrible place to live for the African American,
as they had to fight, sometimes with words and some with fists, but they had to
fight for the privilege of earning the right side of the hyphen. In the year of 1963
the African American had to fight to earn the unalienable rights that they were
supposedly guaranteed, Martin Luther King Jr. was just one leader for the African
Americans to unite behind and wage this war for their freedom. In this essay I will

America during the 1960s were being corrupted by this thought that African

jail MLK not only used logos, but he also used pathos, to try and show just how
miserably the African American was treated at the time. Here is a quote where MLK
tries to explain how the African Americans were becoming an exception to our
constitution. As the weeks and months went by, we realized that we were the victims
of a broken promise. (273 King) This quote effectively uses pathos because MLK is

Berger And Berreby Analysis
According to David Berreby, humanities are simply unlike anything else found in
nature (par. 24). Human behavior is so complex that sometimes everyday interactions
by humans seem unreal when studied more in depth. John Berger and David Berreby
both discuss how humans view other humans. Berger claims that humans, especially
women, are seen solely as objects or sights. However, although Berreby claims that
humans have subconscious impressions of one another, he would likely disagree that
humans are seen as objects, instead seeing deeper, meaningful human connection
within one another.
Throughout Ways of Seeing, John Berger uses European oil paintings and art to
describe the relationship between women and men and the way that men view
women. The entire chapter focuses primarily on a women s body, how her body is
surveyed by men, and how this causes the women to also survey herself. When first
introducing the relationship between men and women, Berger clarifies women are an
object of vision, stating,
One might simplify this by saying: men act and women appear. Men look at women.

nature to find somewhere to belong and something relatable to identify with. This has
lead to the elimination of judgments and the increase of more connection and

the importance of seeing other humans and the realization that the behavior of the

champion in NASCAR s Sprint Cup Series, was nominated for Best Male Athlete at
ESPN s Espy Awards in 2011. Merriam Webster defines an Athlete as a person who

According to Potkanowicz, Edward S., and Ronald W. Mendel, racecar drivers
heart rates have been recorded at 174.3 beats per minute (bpm), their bodies have
endured repetitive g loading up to 5.5 gravitational forces (g), and have withstand
core body temperature of 102.2 degrees Fahrenheit (4). A normal heart for adults
ranges between 60 100 bpm. Racecar drivers have to be aerobically fit to sustain
elevated heart rates. The average human can only handle up to 5g before passing

blows of g force that can reach above 5g. An average core body temperature for
humans is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. To prevent heat stroke, drivers practice hot
yoga to help acclimate their bodies to the heat and exertion they will encounter on
the track. In auto racing drivers must withstand all physiological stresses of their

psychological stress of performing their sport. In racecar driving those stresses can

Analysis Of Lolita s Tehran, And Fidelity
When entering this unit of postmodernism, my only thoughts were of a reluctant
nature. I pessimistically expected only disagreement and frustration from reading the
works of Life of Pi, Reading Lolita in Tehran, and Fidelity. However, my initial
expectations were completely and thankfully wrecked. Though the philosophies of
both Martel and Nafisi contradict my own, there are endless gems of insight to be
plundered from their writings. These postmodern works emphasize where we as
humans find our identity and how religionplays into that identity. Contrary to my
presumptions, I learned so much from reading these novels woven with
postmodernists thought and can say with confidence that I am a better and more
educated person for having read them. Postmodernism is not a wholly cohesive
ideology that can be covered in a single blanket statement. It is more of an umbrella
that contains many miscellaneous modern conceptions of things. (Uhhhh citation,
idrk) There is an over arching theme, however, that rejects objective truth. This belief
would argue that truth can be constructed by each person individually. For Pi, this
meant his house could be a temple for gods from Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam
(Martel 45 46). It did not matter that those religions were not congruous, he just
wanted to love God (Martel 69). His truth was that all religions are true (Martel 69).
Nafisi similarly creates her own truth in her living room which became [her]

Blitzkrieg Essay
Blitzkrieg
The word Blitz itself is a shortened form of the German word Blitzkrieg meaning
lightening war, it means a heavy bombing attack from the air. It is often used to
describe the German air raids on London in 1940, but many other cities were also
blitzed. It was widely believed that Britain would be heavily bombed immediately
after the war was declared and huge amounts of deaths and injuries were expected
with mass burials planned and 1,250,000 cardboard coffins were produced. However
these figures were completely inaccurate as they were based on when the Luftwaffe
had bombed during the Spanish Civil War, and during this time had virtually no
opposition. During The Blitz London was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believed that this would dampen spirits and break morale to such an extent that
the people would force the government to come to terms with him. However the
excuse Hitler used to justify the Blitz was that he was bombing military targets.
The Blitz also attempted to destroy industry, with London docks being bombed
often and the Luftwaffe also tried to hit railway lines, junctions, power stations and
gas holders, but the bombing was felt worst of all by the working class near city
centres. The Blitz also affected the life of children with many of them being
uprooted and evacuated to the countryside, some with their mothers, some without.
Around 1,500,000 people were evacuated at the start of the Blitz, which had a
massive effect on people s lives and many lifestyles being completely turned around.
Children from the city were often very skinny and undernourished and when they
were evacuated often had much more food, and much healthier food to keep them
strong. Some would go home looking completely different to how they looked when
they went. Those that stayed in the cities were bothered by ARP wardens checking
for air raid precautions, the wardens were often accused of interfering. Along with
household precautions there were also air raid shelters, but many people didn t have
them and went into tube stations during raids. The raids affected everybody s lives,

The Therapy, Attachment Theory And Cognitive Theory
This eclectic plan will incorporate three theoretical approaches, which include the
solution focused therapy, attachment theory and cognitive theory. The plan is going
to be made up of four therapy sessions each will be an hour long. The four sessions
are designed to help Andrew overcome his depressive state and to help him develop
coping mechanisms for himself. In the first session, the therapist will be combining
both attachment and cognitive theory. The session will begin with an intake and
assessment where the therapist will gain insight on who the client is and what their
situation is through the process of asking questions. From this, the therapist will use
the attachment approach where the therapist will tie in the intake and assessment
with the Adult Attachment Interview. It consists of a semi structured interview,
which will consist of asking Andrew to describe his childhood relationships to his
parents with examples of significant events (Textbook). The questions are geared
toward possible experiences of rejection, being hurt, upset or any other experiences
that may had a negative impact on Andrew (Textbook). By doing this, it will help
Andrew understand how his relationship with his parents as a child might help
explain his difficulty with expressing emotions. From gaining this understanding, it
can help him move forward and start thinking about how he start to form more
positive attachments. Before the end of the first session, the therapist will touch
The Central Dilemma Of Environmental Ethics
The central dilemma in environmental ethics is determining the value of nature:
what kind of value does it have, what aspects of the environment have value, and
from what or whom does environmental value ultimately derive? Many philosophers
have proposed answers to these inquiries, but every ethic is weak in one or more of
these areas. Holmes Rolston III, an American philosopher, preacher, and naturalist,
has proposed a deontological argument that addresses each of the key subjects in the
debate surrounding the valuation of nature (Holmes Rolston III, 2016, para. 1 2, 4).
Although several essential components of his case include numerous references to
macroevolution, an aspect with which Young Earth Christians would disagree, his
ethic is logical, well crafted, and on the whole aligns with a Biblical perspective of
Creation. It would not seem at first that a former Presbyterian pastor would be
especially interested in the realm of environmental philosophy, yet Rolston s
environmental ethic is surprisingly elegant (Holmes Rolston III, 2016, para. 2). His
overall ideology can be summarized in the following statement: Values exist in the
world objectively apart from human choice or human or animal consciousness
(Smillie, n.d., para. 1). Rolston s ethic is informed by teleology, from whence is
derived his object with will argument. This philosophy is based on the idea that all
organisms have purpose in living, namely life itself; thus, valueresides in the object

Hypothyroidism Essay
What s the Difference between Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism?
Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism are easily confused because the words are so
similar looking. But knowing a bit of ancient Greek and using common sense can
help your remember the difference.
Hypo means under. A hypodermic needle injects substances under the skin.
Hypothyroidism is therefore a condition in which a person has an underactive, or
slow, thyroid gland. This means it produces too little thyroid hormone for the body to
function normally.
Hyper means over. Think of a hyper person, which is short for hyperactive that is, too
active. Therefore, a person suffering from hyperthyroidism (a hyperactive thyroid) has
a thyroid which is overactive. It is commonly referred to as a ... Show more content

A physical exam and blood tests can usually determine if you have a thyroid issue,
which one, and the potential causes of it.
Treatments
The main treatment for hypothyroidism is synthetic thyroid hormone in pill form to
replace what s missing. Depending on the reason for the slow thyroid, adding more
iodine to the diet and generally eating a healthy diet can help.
There are several treatments for hyperthyroidism which will depend on several
factors, including your age, overall physical condition, the underlying cause of the
hyperthyroidism, how severe it is, and your own preferences.
These include:
* Radioactive iodine to destroy thyroid tissue and lower the amount of hormone being
produced
* Anti thyroid medications to lower the hormone activity
* Beta blockers to lower heart rate and palpitations
* Surgery to remove the thyroid completely, which will mean adding supplements to
your diet for the rest of your life

The Importance Of Family And Generations
Does family come first? In this generation that might not be a definite yes, although at
the time of the nuclear family generation (around the 1950 s) that answer was
immediate. Now respect, manners, and being active outside are completely different
from back then and now. With this in mind I believe that is what shapes how fast you
can answer that question. Which is why I think it is important to intentionally go
over first respect, second being active, third manners; for the most part this shapes
families and generations.
To start with in particular respect, a very powerful, inspirational word that everyone
wants to be looked at when they grow more successful. But to compare a generation
of Millennials to a family of the 1950 s is very broad, but let s dive in, who do we
respect as a millennial? Some might mention the most popular movie star, a
football player on a team, maybe even an actor that has millions of dollars. Anyone
that has been trending on social media that provides entertainment, has lots of
viewers and is famous, they are respected by us. I believe we have taken some of
the most important people in our lives for granted; our parents and relatives. Not
only did our parents put us on this planet they raised us to be specials persons to
benefit society. To clarify, they helped us go to school to read, learn, and
comprehend daily life matters. The parents in the 1950s did this too with their
children, however they looked at their father as a superhero and

Why Did The Us Invade Afghanistan
Why did the US invade Afghanistan in 2001?
Theoretically, it holds that the United States (US) invaded Afghanistan as a self
defense strategy following the 9/11 attacks. Practically, however, as US foreign
policy is about conquest, self protection and resource extraction, it seeks strategic
dominance of geographical space to sustain its global relevance. The rationality of the
US suggests the need to continuously accumulate capital, resources and military
proficiency to ensure autonomy. Therefore, a pragmatic reading into the motivation
behind the invasion of Afghanistan negates the self defense theory. Rather, the
shifting coordinates of power within central and southern Asia crafted the perfect
criteria for US intervention. This work explores the motivations and systemic cover
ups designed by the Bush administration in ordering military troops into Afghanistan
in 2001. It will hold that this invasion was not just a War on Terror, but rather a tactic
to ensure US prevalence within the region, and henceforth, the rest of the world.
Thus, why did the US invade Afghanistan?
At the start of the new millennium, China became rapidly known as the fastest
growing economy sparking the greatest shift of relative power in history.
Coincidence, or not, Afghanistan s narrow border with China made it a perfect
strategic target to presume military presence within the Asian region. Arguably, the
invasion of Afghanistan lays largely on a tactical plan designed by the US to resist
The Bill Of Rights Of The United States Constitution
What is a bill of rights? What is an amendment? How are the different? A bill of
rights is a formality such as the Declaration of Independence and it is the outline of
what the citizens feel their born rights are as people of a union. An amendment is the
changing or altering of a legal or civil document. Specifically amendments in the
United States Constitutioninclude the changing or detailing of what the people
need. These two phrases differ in what their purposes are. The bill of rights was set
as a clean up for the Declaration of Independence requested by the general population

Amendments five through eight identify with the process of trial and include the
right to a fair and speedy trial, right to a jury, and prohibits unreasonable fines. Along
with those amendments listed above the Bill of Rights also states there should be no
cruel or unusual punishment. The ninth amendment recognizes that American s
rights are not limited or bonded specifically by the Constitution. This means that
Americans have rights outside the Constitution. The last amendment within the Bill
of Rights states that any power not given to the government belongs to the people.
This is very important because it parallels the purpose of America; power of the
people. The Bill of Rights is said it should be known as the Bill of Limitations on the
government to avoid the perception that the rights were granted by the government

Choosing A Smart Property Purchase
Choosing where to purchase properties is an important decision. You might be buying
your first home or a home to rent out as an investment property. The fact is, everyone
has different needs.
Affordability, accessibility to public transport, and proximity to schools can all have a
big impact on the value of a potential investment property. If you re looking for your
dream home, the criteria can be even more personal.
Knowing how to make a smart property purchase decision can seem overwhelming,
so it s important to understand the basics.
What is your personal situation?
Identifying the factors that are important to you is a good place to start. Ask yourself
what you need the property to achieve for you. Then, see if the property ticks all
those important boxes. Knowing whether you need an investment that is cash flow
positive, or if you can sustain an investment property that might build some long term
capital gain, is a good basis for your decision making.
If your plan is to renovate for capital gain, then that off the plan property might not be
the right investment for you. Also, before you think about buying in a regional
location, look at the industries that are integral to the region and consider how secure
those industries are. There are no guarantees in life and if your personal finances can t
withstand a downturn, then that location may not be the best choice for you. How
much you can actually afford to borrow is another important factor. Talk to a trusted

How Did African Americans Use Religion In The 18th

Student Loan Crisis Is A Crisis
Seventy percent of college graduates left school with almost thirty thousand dollars
in student loans. (Johnson, Student Loans ) There is currently a debate about
whether or not student loans are a crisis or if this crisis is just a myth. In the article,
Here s Your Crisis:
Student Loan Debt Isn t A Myth, it describes how student loans are a huge crisis, and
the article, The Myth of the Student Loan Crisis is about how college students loans
do not amount to a crisis. The student loan crisis is a legitimate problem, not a myth.
College students do not realize the risks they take when they acquire student loans.
Student loans can and do have negative effects on the economy and there are also
hardships the students will face in the future.
One reason that supports the issue of student loans being a crisis is the negative
effects on the economy. For example, students who are in debtcannot spend money
on expensive items.
People who want nice cars, jacked up trucks, enormous boats, and other items will
not be able to afford these items. Also, student loans are responsible for the second
highest form of consumer debt. (Denhart, College Crisis Is Crippling ) Higher
national debt means fewer jobs and increased interest rates. Lastly, is the inability to
start new businesses, which would benefit the economy, due to income debt ratio.
These three examples show the negative effects on the economy from student loans.
In addition, students will take on these loans without

Reviving Opheli Saving The Selves Of Adolescent Girls
While reading Mary Pipher s, Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent
Girls and Dan Kindlon and Michael Thompson s, Raising Cain: Protecting the
Emotional Life of Boys, I got a better understanding of the mindsets of teenagers in
todays society. I learned that countless girls and boys have the same inner battles
and do not even realize it. The two songs I chose that best represent ideas of woman
and manhood are Unpretty, by TLCand Stan, by Eminem. I believe these songs
support many of the stereotypes portrayed in both of the class readings and hold
strong messages that can impact the views of girls and boys alike. They address
many struggles that teenagers today may be going through but afraid of speaking
about openly.
In Reviving Ophelia, Pipher takes us into the minds of teenage girls and evaluates
the ordinary troubles they encounter. She explains how girls tend to let the opinions
of others influence their interests and appearance. They visualize how others
perceive them and based on this, they form a self perception. This perception can
either be a positive or negative one. Generally if a girl establishes a negative self
perception, they have an urge to alter whom they are to gain approval. They crave
acceptance from others so much that they usually through great lengths to get it. The
problem is that many girls don t accept themselves for whom they are and Unpretty
speaks to those girls in particular. The song is by the popular 90 s R B group

[(essay date autumn 1982) In the following essay, Senf contends that, contrary to
popular belief, Bram Stoker s treatment of women in his novel stems not from his
animosity toward women in general, but rather from his negative reaction to some
attributes of the New Woman.]

In fact the first passage is neutral and suggests only that she is familiar with the New
Woman s insistence on greater freedom and physical activity, attributes which Gail
Cunningham mentions in her discussion:
It was pointed out that women were likely to remain the weaker sex as long as they
were encased in whalebone and confined their physical activity to the decorous
movements of the ballroom, and the new doctrine of hygiene as it was coyly termed
advocated sports for women and Rational Dress. Many young women pedalled their
way to undreamt of freedoms on the newly popular bicycle; petticoats and chaperons
were equally inappropriate accompaniments, and could be discarded in one go.8
Bicycle riding, bloomers, and badminton may have shocked more conservative people
in the 1890s, but they were probably not enough to worry Stoker or his heroine. Nor
was the fact that the New Woman was often a professional woman who chose
financial independence and personal fulfilment as alternatives to marriage and
motherhood. Cunningham adds that while these activities were important aspects of
emancipation, they are not, however, responsible for the New Woman s becoming a
symbol of all that was most challenging and dangerous in advanced thinking. The
crucial factor was, inevitably, sex (Cunningham, p. 2).
When it came to sex the New Woman was more frank and open than her
predecessors. She felt free to initiate sexual

The do not have a respiratory and circulatory system, but they do have a hypodermis, excretory system and muscles.(1) They are model organisms to use in experiments because they have a short life span, which makes them manageable, they are inexpensive, and most importantly they are transparent.(2) Therefore, whatever you do to them you will be able to see through a microscope. I conducted a research on C. elegans to test to see how every day fertilizerthat we apply to our soil affects them and their movements. When you are putting fertilizer on your soil you are adding extra nutrients to the soil to make your yard look nicer. Although, if you are not careful you may also be putting too much fertilizer on your soil which is raising the concentration of all the nutrients in the soil abnormally Therefore, the reason for my experiment is to see how adding fertilizer may affect C. elegans. This research is important because, if we don t know what happens if we add fertilizer to C. elegans environment, then we can potentially be killing them. Therefore, if we are killing the C. elegans, then we are killing the environment itself. My hypothesis on this experiment is that NPK fertilizer will affect C. elegans negatively, causing them to decrease in motion and repel from the fertilizer. Methods: One the first day

Forty to Fifty million people lost their lives during World War II. This was a war that lasted for about six years and involved countries from around the whole world. The axis powers in the war consisted of Germany, Italy, and Japan. The Allie powers consisted of the United States, France, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and to a lesser extent, China. It is said that unsettled disputes from the first world war, World War I, is what was the main cause of WWII. Japan trained men for the war starting at the age of nine years old. It is said that of all the Soviet men that were born in the year 1923, only twenty percent survived the war. This means eighty percent of all males died in the war. That s from one country, imagine how many innocent lives were taken during the war. All because of one man, Adolf Hitler. The war stemmed off in early 1939 when German dictator Adolf Hitler had intentions of invading Poland. Poland knew about this, so they went to France and Britain for an alliance should Germany invade them. When Germany heard about this, they decided it would be good to take out the Soviets because they didn t know if they would fight on Poland s side or not. On August 23, 1939, Germany and the Soviets signed the German Soviet Nonaggression pact. This stated that once Poland was taken over, the country would be divided evenly between the two power countries.

  • 7. Immigrants As A Better Life For Their Future All people are diverse and come from many backgrounds. Most people settled here in America as an immigrant to start a better life for their future generations and for opportunities. Most people came here with nothing but bringing along their cultures, knowledge, beliefs and behaviors which they can be shared amongst others in groups and society. In society, starting with the earlier generation there was always shared culture of classes, although everyone portrays immigrants as the lowest status. They are always disliked particularly for coming here as an immigrant, even though most of their backgrounds or their parent s background statuses were very much similar whether they wantto admit it or not. It s how they hold themselves in society. People are divided into different classes and treated differently. Most immigrants have to settle in, adapting to the American lifestyle, whether they like it or not, they ll have to blend in and start off with low paying jobs and making new friends. • 8. A Report On Aluminum Recycling Aluminum recycling is the process by which scrap aluminum is reprocessed to be used in products after its initial production. Aluminum producers and recyclers in the aluminum industry work with individuals, businesses, and communities to enable both curbside and industrial recycling programs. For most aluminum products, the metal is not consumed during the products lifetime, but it is simply used making it easy to recycle without losing its intrinsic properties. Used beverage container (UBC) recyclingis the most recognized of the aluminum recycling programs. However, end of life recycling of certain products like building parts and cars allows for the production of recycled materials like window frames, wire, tubing and electronic parts. The following is step by step process of aluminum recycling: Collection of Scrap Aluminum Drinks cans, aluminum foil trays, and aerosol cans are collected from homes, streets and garbage collection centres by hired individuals or business people who major in aluminum collection. They are sometimes mixed with steel cans. The scrap aluminum is then collected together and then it is transported to the treatment plant. Sorting The mixed metals (aluminum and steel cans) are taken to a materials recovery facility where they are cleaned, sorted into different metal streams and later compressed into bales. This step is very important in ensuring that the aluminum is separated from other metals. It is important to point out that drink cans

What Australian fashion retailers can learn from Zara s product management process to improve their business Australian fashion retailer these days are facing a huge struggle by selling over priced clothes. However, the globalization has poked Australian retailers to found themselves in the midst of an international fashion invasion, while the markets found themselves starstruck on the attractiveness that international retailers offer. The condition of Australian fashion retailers have been under serviced and underwhelmed when it comes to fashion choice, especially in affordable variety (Wells 2013). There are only numerous fashion labels are available to dress 23 million people. In addition, the price cannot be compared to international brands ; the volumes produced by big international retailers like Zara and H M are to service global market, unlike Sportsgirl or Country Road who produce much smaller volumes. This does not conclude that Australian fashion retailers will not survive in the near future, although it does make some of them to stand on their toes. Domestic retailers are forced to turn around their fashion clothes much faster to avoid the merchandise cannibalizing by Zara. On the other side of the card, for being fast fashion, Zara may also meet its peak of a slower consumption. Consumers have now become aware of the impact of fast fashion that may harm environments and work ethic. Even though, Zara has anticipated the issues by coming up with their

The Low Power Optimization Techniques Introduction The low power optimization techniques are very crucial for next generation wireless communication and battery powered signal processing applications. Several low power optimization techniques at circuit level and device level were implemented in past two decades to achieve low power Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) designs. However the continuously growing low power demand motivates researchers to evolve even low power designs. The architecture level low power optimization is possible for signal processing and the communication applications considering the dynamically fluctuating signal value. 1.1 Static Vs Dynamic Power The amount of energy consumed per operation and the heat dissipated by the circuit are determined by the power consumption of a design. A great number of critical design decisions, like the battery lifetime, supply line sizing, power supply capacity, packing and cooling requirements are being influenced by the above factors. Power dissipation is an important property of a design that affects feasibility, cost, and reliability. However, the number of circuits that can be integrated onto a single chip, and how fast they are allowed to switch are determined by their high performance computing, power consumption limits and the heat removal system (Jan M. Rabaey). In present era of increasing mobile computing applications, for the amount of energy stored in battery, the achievable number of computations directly depend on power consumption of

Berger claims that humans, especially women, are seen solely as objects or sights. However, although Berreby claims that humans have subconscious impressions of one another, he would likely disagree that humans are seen as objects, instead seeing deeper, meaningful human connection within one another. Throughout Ways of Seeing, John Berger uses European oil paintings and art to describe the relationship between women and men and the way that men view women. The entire chapter focuses primarily on a women s body, how her body is surveyed by men, and how this causes the women to also survey herself. Holmes Rolston III, an American philosopher, preacher, and naturalist, has proposed a deontological argument that addresses each of the key subjects in the debate surrounding the valuation of nature (Holmes Rolston III, 2016, para. 1 2, 4). Although several essential components of his case include numerous references to macroevolution, an aspect with which Young Earth Christians would disagree, his ethic is logical, well crafted, and on the whole aligns with a Biblical perspective of Creation. It would not seem at first that a former Presbyterian pastor would be especially interested in the realm of environmental philosophy, yet Rolston s environmental ethic is surprisingly elegant (Holmes Rolston III, 2016, para. 2). His overall ideology can be summarized in the following statement: Values exist in the world objectively apart from human choice or human or animal consciousness (Smillie, n.d., para. 1). Rolston s ethic is informed by teleology, from whence is derived his object with will argument. This philosophy is based on the idea that all organisms have purpose in living, namely life itself; thus, valueresides in the object with will

To start with in particular respect, a very powerful, inspirational word that everyone wants to be looked at when they grow more successful. But to compare a generation of Millennials to a family of the 1950 s is very broad, but let s dive in, who do we respect as a millennial? Some might mention the most popular movie star, a football player on a team, maybe even an actor that has millions of dollars. Anyone that has been trending on social media that provides entertainment, has lots of viewers and is famous, they are respected by us. I believe we have taken some of the most important people in our lives for granted; our parents and relatives. Not only did our parents put us on this planet they raised us to be specials persons to benefit society. To clarify, they helped us go to school to read, learn, and comprehend daily life matters. • 34. Why Did The Us Invade Afghanistan Why did the US invade Afghanistan in 2001? Theoretically, it holds that the United States (US) invaded Afghanistan as a self defense strategy following the 9/11 attacks. Practically, however, as US foreign policy is about conquest, self protection and resource extraction, it seeks strategic dominance of geographical space to sustain its global relevance. The rationality of the US suggests the need to continuously accumulate capital, resources and military proficiency to ensure autonomy. Therefore, a pragmatic reading into the motivation behind the invasion of Afghanistan negates the self defense theory. Rather, the shifting coordinates of power within central and southern Asia crafted the perfect criteria for US intervention. This work explores the motivations and systemic cover ups designed by the Bush administration in ordering military troops into Afghanistan in 2001. It will hold that this invasion was not just a War on Terror, but rather a tactic to ensure US prevalence within the region, and henceforth, the rest of the world. Thus, why did the US invade Afghanistan? At the start of the new millennium, China became rapidly known as the fastest growing economy sparking the greatest shift of relative power in history. Coincidence, or not, Afghanistan s narrow border with China made it a perfect strategic target to presume military presence within the Asian region. Arguably, the invasion of Afghanistan lays largely on a tactical plan designed by the US to resist
