The South was a volatile place when concerning the separation of the white and black
communities. Laws were put into place to solidify the separation of the races while providing
equal opportunity to all. However, these laws, known as the Jim Crow laws, were ratified to give
the illusion of equality while allowing for separation to continue. Though the image these laws
held gave the impression of equality, while the people did not hold equal status. To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee explores the racial tensions of separate but equalthroughout the novel
and how these ideas affected the daily lives of those who lived during this time. Separation of
public spaces and the relationships between the people themselves are small examples of the
realities of the laws effects on real people in the South. The Jim Crow laws perpetuated the racial

Saudi Arabia peacefully disobeyed this regulation. Women in many different cities got behind
the steering wheel and filmed a video of themselves driving. They then uploaded these videos on

until their male guardians arrived, at which point the women were released after signing pledges

As I walk into the Homeward Animal Shelter for my dog walking shift, I think of the reason I
began my weekly volunteering. I want to give love, in any way I can, to the animals who have

rescue dog Snoop open up to me after 3 years and watching his mile stones. For a dog that was

Snoop s journey into our family began when his family abandoned him and his little chihuahua
brother on the side of the road. They fended for each other for days until they were brought to the
pound. From there they were separated. Where the little Chihuahua went is unknown, but Snoop,
being a pure bread German Shepherd, was taken to Missouri German Shepherd Rescue (MOGS),
a rescue center specializing in Shepherds. His white coat made him easy to love, but after the
treatment of his last family he did not easily love others. Once Snoop had come out of his shell,

But how did the experimenters know if the cells that they had created were truly pluripotent
stem cells? What could these cells form? First, a bit of background information must be
included about chimeras. In basic terms, a chimera contains two sets of DNA, both of which
are expressed. Different sections of the chimera s body will be derived from different DNA. A
good example is an individual with eyes of two different colors (one green, one blue, etc).
Chimeras can be formed when two fertilized eggs fuse together at an early stage, or when an
unfertilized egg or extra sperm fuses with a fertilized egg. Now the developing organism contains
two different genetic codes. In most cases, chimeras are completely healthy. There is no worry of
immune rejection, because the cells are joined together far before any immune system exists to
reject either.
Now, back to the paper. How did chimeras help the scientists identify the pluripotent stem cells they
had created? The scientists obtained mouse blastocysts that had certain traits different than those in
the intended pluripotent cells. These blastocysts were injected with the potential induced
pluripotent stem cells, and allowed to develop to birth. All the induced stem cells were designed to

Abstract:
It has been shown that heavy metals toxicity to humans is as a result of long term or high level
exposure to pollutants common in the environment including the air, water, food and numerous
consumer products such as the cosmetics and toiletries. Cosmetics are seen as one of the most
important sources of releasing heavy metals into the environment and the human biological
system. Thus Cosmetic products must not be harmful under normal or foreseeable conditions of
use. Four different samples of cosmetics (Foundation, Kohl, Blusher, and Lipstick) were
analyzed in Al Madina SAES laboratory for water and food analysis to determine the levels of
heavy metals (As, Pb, Zn, Hg, and Cu) in the products. Concentrations of the selected heavy metals
were determined by using inductively coupled plasma/optical emission spectroscopy (ICP/OES).
As and Cu were not found in all samples except in foundation sample found in concentration
0.0056 ppm for as and 0.006116 ppm for Cu, lead ranged between 0.03 0.92 ppm. Mercury ranged
between 0.04 1.49 ppm, and Zinc ranged between 0.026 0.091ppm.
