1. Usc Admission Essay
Crafting a compelling essay for USC admission is undeniably challenging, requiring a delicate
balance of personal reflection, self-promotion, and a keen understanding of the university's
values. First and foremost, you must navigate the fine line between showcasing your
achievements and portraying genuine humility. The challenge lies in portraying your
accomplishments without sounding boastful, allowing your unique qualities to shine through.
Moreover, delving into your personal experiences demands introspection, a process that can be
emotionally taxing. You need to articulate your growth, challenges faced, and lessons learned in
a way that resonates with the admissions committee. Unveiling your vulnerabilities while
maintaining a sense of resilience is a delicate art that requires time, effort, and a willingness to
self-reflect.
Furthermore, the USC admission essay necessitates a thorough understanding of the university's
culture, programs, and values. It's not just about showcasing your qualifications but aligning
them with what USC seeks in its students. This requires extensive research and a nuanced
approach to demonstrate how your aspirations and values align with those of the institution.
In addition, the word limit poses an additional challenge. Condensing your life experiences,
aspirations, and reasons for choosing USC into a limited number of words demands precision
and eloquence. Every sentence must serve a purpose, contributing to the overall narrative and
leaving a lasting impression.
Lastly, the fear of inadequacy looms large. USC is highly competitive, and standing out among a
pool of talented applicants is no small feat. Crafting an essay that not only meets the university's
standards but also distinguishes you from other applicants is a formidable task.
To ease the burden, some may seek external assistance. Professional services, such as
HelpWriting.net, offer support in creating impactful essays. However, it's crucial to maintain
authenticity and ensure that the final product genuinely reflects your voice and experiences.
In conclusion, writing a USC admission essay is a formidable undertaking, demanding a delicate
balance of self-reflection, research, and effective storytelling. While challenging, the process is
an opportunity for personal growth and a chance to articulate why USC is the ideal place for
your academic and personal journey. For those seeking additional assistance, platforms like
HelpWriting.net offer support in navigating the intricacies of the admissions essay process.

2. The Simulation Exercise On Foreign Policy Essay
The simulation exercise learns the students how to make decisions in the U.S
foreign policy. The members of the cabinet are instructed by the president to use one
model in their decision making process. The secretaries follow a Bureaucratic
Politics model, each Cabinet member instructed to make a particular decision based
on his/her organizational agendas. The President is free to follow whatever process
he find it appropriate. Several situation updates during the exercise according to the
crisis atmosphere of the decision making. In the end, students find out that to make
decision in the foreign policyis much harder than they thought. Shortage of
information, time, and different personal backgrounds and organizational
information all get in the way of reaching a dicission. Prior to the exercise in class,

the Security Council meeting in class, my Cabinets work together to find a resolution

3. Eminent Domain Case Analysis
This seems to be the fundamental issue underlying the paper: a pernicious sense of
what is valuable. Multiple times, the paper asserts that the be all, end all metric of
value ought to be economic value, specifically the value derived from synergistic
arrangements of real property. But viewing a situation through this lens dehumanizes
the situation. It leads to situations where we can, with a straight face, describe human
settlement as clutter to be disposed of. Indeed, alternative metrics of value exist
which add nuance to the situation. Sentimental or cultural value, for example, may
be entirely at odds with economic value. Were a city to grow and encompass sacred
Native American land, would it not be fair to consider such interests alongside those
of the capital class? What about a family with ancestors... Show more content on

One of the crucial assumptions underlying the paper s analysis is that a
redevelopment effort will necessarily create positive economic value. But what if it
does not? Kelo serves as a perfect example. What was supposed to be a profitable
facility is currently an empty lot collecting storm debris. At least with eminent domain
, voters have some form of cathartic recourse. They can vote out the individuals who
made the decision to condemn their homes for an ultimately disastrous product. In a
callable fee or floating fee situation, voters have little ability to seek redress, instead
nurturing feelings of political disenfranchisement and anti establishment resentment.
Further, the threat of losing their seats incentivizes politicians to carefully examine
any proposed development and only exercise their power when reasonably sure of its
success, minimizing potential mishaps. Thus, voters are both empowered and
incentives are put in place to encourage careful decision making concerning
development
4. Sport Descriptive Essay
The work is worth it! shouted my coach before hitting the mat. My whole team s
stomachs are in giant knots. Sweat drips down our faces. Thousands and thousands
of people cheering. Cheer Extreme Chicago Obsession may take the floor said the
announcer. This was the moment we ve been working towards for nine months. Full
out after full out. We all had one goal which was to win.
Ever since I was four years old, I ve done all star cheerleading,a very competitive
sport. Ever since I started doing it, I knew why I wanted to. I did Cheerleading at a
gym called Cheer Extreme Chicago located in Addison, IL. I was on a junior 5
team called Obsession. The day we started practicing, we prepared for one
competition. The competition is called NCA (National Cheerleading Association).
NCA is located in Dallas, TX. There are 1,143 teams, 25,484 athletes, 38,000
spectators, 41 states, and five countries. After the nine months passed, it finally
came. When I woke up Thursday morning we drove to Chicago O Hare Airport. We
then got our plane tickets from the kiosk and headed to the flight door. We waited
about an hour till we were allowed to board. As we sat down in our seats, I spotted
many cheerleaders from different gyms crowding the airplane. It made me realize
what I was walking into and how many athletes were going to be in Dallas. The plane
finally took off and after a few hours passed and we were in Dallas, Texas.
The competition was Saturday and Sunday, but we got there Thursday
5. Types Of The Organisational Structure Of Tesco PLC
Organisational structure of Tesco PLC
The organisational structure that Tesco PLC has is a hierarchical structure which
consists of multiple layers. This type of business structure means that it looks a
pyramid from the chain of command. It s broken down into levels where the higher
the level the higher rank and authority. For example, the workers of Tesco PLC are
the large base at the bottom of the hierarchical structure. Then continues further up
the pyramid to a higher ranked level. The employees at Tesco PLC are ranked at
different levels, the levels are above each other. Of which less people there are as
the levels go higher; the highest level is where the chief executive is at top.
The store I will be focusing on is the Cannock Superstore to explain the hierarchical
structure. This is a diagram of the hierarchy structure is below: This image shows the
base level to be the workers which has the lowest ranking but is the largest amount
then moves onto a higher level in the hierarchical structure which is the assistant
managers. Span of control is who the managers is directly responsible for the number
of subordinates (workers). The second level is a smaller amount than the base level
meaning more authority such as being in control of the subordinates which the span
of control for the assistant managers is four, two, two, and three. The highest level in
the hierarchical structure at the Tesco PLC store is the chief executive. This level has
the most authority and is in control of the three managers.
An advantage of Tesco PLC being part of a hierarchical structure is having a clear
authority in each of the levels. This is an advantage because of the various levels
having different levels of responsibilities and authorities. As top of the hierarchical
structure as shown in the diagram above is the manager director who is the one to
have the most control and authority its where the managers will confide in for
guidance. Due to being on the level under the manager director as the manager
director for example will have their say over what the managers will do. As the
hierarchical structure descends there s less control and authority. Furthermore, is an
advantage because Tesco PLC for example, would be able

The novels, Mystic River by Dennis Lehane and The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold,
include many different elements of the psychoanalytical theory. According to
Sigmund Freud, the psychoanalytic theory explains the reasoning behind personality
disorders through one s conscious and unconscious mind (Psychoanalytic Criticism).
This theory also states the idea that things that happen to people during childhood can
contribute to the way one later functions as an adult (Psychoanalytic Criticism). Both
novels include characters that can contribute towards the psychoanalytical theory
through the roles that the characters play in each novel. Both of the parents of the
murdered child in each story contrast on how they act in the situation. The fathers...

After receiving the news about the murder, Jimmy explodes with emotions. I
remember, I was more afraid of my little daughter than I ever was of being in prison
(Dennis 34). This quote shows the fatherly love Jimmy had for Katie. It compared the
strength Jimmy had through the rough times in jail and how afraid he was of losing
Katie. Ultimately, Jimmy follows the wrong path. Jimmy not only fails to find his
daughter s murderer, but he also kills Dave along too. By looking though a
psychoanalytic lens, one can interpret Jimmy s fatherly instincts which are to try to
unearth his daughter s murderer no matter the cost.
Not only can one psychoanalytically observe the father from Mystic River, Jimmy
Markum, but can also psychoanalytically compare one to the father from The Lovely
Bones, Jack Salmon. Jack Salmon is the frustrated heroic father of the murdered
Susie Salmon. Jack is the one who knows the truth of his daughter s murder, but
can t prove it. Just as Jack quotes, If you start something, you finish it. You don t
stop until you get it right. If you don t get it right, you start over again and you
keep going as long as you can (Sebold 12). This quote demonstrates Jack s
perseverance towards catching Susie s murderer. Regardless of the number of
attempts to obtain justice for Susie, Jack never ends up victorious. Just like Jimmy
Markum from Mystic River, Jack and Jimmy both display determination towards

10. The Presidential Debates
The main goal of this article was to discover if the televised presidential debates
increased the amount of knowledge of campaign issues amongst uneducated
voters. One of the downfalls of this campaign overall, was that it seemed too
artificial and staged to some of the voters. It was during this election, that many
print media providers were called out for simply focusing on the horse race as
opposed to the political issues at hand. In hope to contradict this claim, evidence was
found that more than 75 network TV stories mentioned each of the big four
economic issues of 1988 taxes, trade, unemployment, and the state of the economy.
(Drew Weaver, 1991, pg. 28) The presidential Debates were also seen as evidence to
contradict this claim

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, better known as the
ASPCA is a non profit organization that focuses on preventing animal cruelty. The
mission of the ASPCA is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to
animals throughout the United States (ASPCA). Animal cruelty and neglect are huge
problems in the United States, therefore organizations such as the ASPCA are needed
to start the process of prevention. The ASPCA website is used to to bring awareness

The next piece of criteria that the ASPCA website uses is the text. Each important
piece of information on the homepage are in large, bolded letters. This feature
emphasizes the importance of the words. For example, the black text that reads 63
cents a day is an important piece of information regarding donations. The text is
also black in color, but placed on a white background. This idea makes the message
pop and grabs the viewer s attention. Due to the placement of the text, it catches the
viewer s attention and could drive them to consider donating just that small amount
of money to the ASPCA. This is a vital factor for this organization because
donations help drive the prevention of animal cruelty. Also, the idea of using only
sixty three cents to advertise donations helps to encourage people to take action
because it is such a small amount. Another example is on the Take Action page, the
key elements are in bold colors such as blue and green. The final piece of text that
supports the mission of the organization is in the menu bar. The orange text on the
menu bar is eye catching, which is important because the buttons lead to places where
viewers can adopt pets, volunteer, and donate; these are all great opportunities to
effectively bring awareness to preventing animal cruelty. Specific colors, when used
strategically can benefit a

Female writing during the 18th century became a popular method of expressing
feminine mentality on issues that were previously considered forbidden. Writers
such as Aphra Behn, Mary Leapor and Lady Mary Wortley Montagu published their
works alongside many respected male poets such as Jonathan Swift and Thomas
Gray. Women were gaining a sense of independence and emancipation from the
traditional patriarchal rule, and this was occurring at an increasingly rapid pace.
Many female poets of the time wrote works that dealt with the treatment of women
by men, and how they are slaves to masculinity. At the same time, these women were
degrading men to the role of an oppressing tyrant. Male poets, such as Jonathan Swift
and Thomas Gray, began to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Eve s character Milton s Paradise Lost:
As I bent down to look, just opposite
A shape within the watery gleam appeared,
Bending to look on me: I started back,
It started back; but pleased I soon returned,
Pleased it returned as soon with answering looks
Of sympathy and love: There I had fixed

Both Eve and the female cat narcissistically become fascinated with their own
reflections, allowing themselves to become blinded from their unfortunate destinies,
which lead them to their own demise and self destruction. Another stereotypical
assumption of women is that they contain an unappeasable desire for material goods.
Since women are also exuding a newfound sense of control and power in the literary
world, Gray also illustrates that, stereotypically, women do not have any control or
power over the situations they place themselves in. The

Chinese cuisine has various styles, depending on the region of China, and some of
the characteristic meals became very popular in other parts of the world from Asia to
America, Australia, Western Europe and South Africa. In addition to being one of the
world s oldest cuisine, Chinese cuisine is known as healthy, and the Chinese are

in this cuisine, and the main feature is their short heat treatment. They are always

Everything happens quickly, short and fast. In many dishes of Chinese cuisine,
food is prepared with parts of food that are cut into bite size and are ready to be
eaten immediately. In traditional Chinese culture sticks are used and it is in a way
based on the opposites. For example, the hot food is always served with some cold

are achieved by using numerous spices like vinegar, pepper, hot peppers, or sugar,
and a great attention is paid to decorating the plate.
As previously mentioned, Chinese cuisine is not just about one typical style, but
rather various styles throughout the country. They are sometimes so different, that it

20. The Drug For Treating Bacterial Infections
LITERATURE REVIEW ОІ lactam antibiotics have continued to be the most popular
drug for treating bacterial infections since its discovery in 1928 by Fleming and its
introduction as an antibacterial agent in the early 1950.1 Most commonly used ОІ
lactam drugs today stems from the original discovery and development of natural
products from microorganisms like penicillin, cephalosporin and other ОІ lactam
based antibiotics (Figure 1). 1,2 However, soon after its commercialization and
widespread usage, ОІ lactamase secreting penicillin resistant strains of
Staphylococcus aureus were isolated.3 The introduction of methicillin (a ОІ
lactamase insensitive semi synthetic penicillin), to curb the resistance problem
resulted in the evolution of another resistant strain known as methicillin resistant
Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).4 Figure 1: Some ОІ lactam antibiotics
Resistance to ОІ lactams is easy for bacteria as all ОІ lactams shared the same mode
of action, which is the inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis by forming stable
covalent adducts with the active site serine residues of penicillin binding proteins
(PBPs). The PBPS are often divided into two partitions; the high molecular weight
PBPs (HMW PBPs) and the low molecular weight PBPs (LMW PBPs). The HMW
PBPs are further divided in two classes, A and B, while the LMW PBPs are divided
in four subclasses based on their tertiary structures. Figure 2 shows the reactions
between natural substrates, ОІ lactams and transition state
21. How Does Cloudstreet Affect Us
Good morning/afternoon/day class of English 12E, I m Mary Wu and I m here to
deliver a tutorial on Cloudstreet: Books and movies are illustrations of lives. They
usually last forever because they illustrates themes that transcend through time.
For example, both Tim Winton s novel Cloudstreet and Thea Sharrock s movie Me
Before You demonstrates that people need to control their lives. In particular,
Winton and Sharrock invites us to experience the consequences of lack of control,
how people struggle to balance their lives and what happens when they are in
control. Tim Winton in his book Cloudstreet delivers us a message of how loss of
control damage people. Dolly is a broken women whose life is completely off track

a positive effect on man. It eases our pain and supports us to face the

Psychologists study the brain and the nervous system because these parts of the body
are essential to the way that people behave, think and feel. Psychology is the
scientific study of people s behavior and their mind so studying the brain and nervous
system is always going to be a crucial element for psychological study. Studying the
nervous system means studying its two major systems: the central nervous system,
which consists of the brain and spinal cord, and the cerebral cortex, which is involved
in higher cognitive, emotional, sensory and motor functions. The peripheral nervous
system is divided into two additional sub systems. These sub systems are the somatic
nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. The somatic nervous system has
the primary function of regulating the actions of the skeletal muscles while the
autonomic nervous system works to regulate involuntary activity, such as the heart
rate or breathing.

Pierre Flourens promoted the idea that the cerebral cortex is not functionally
subdivided. Flourens used the experimentation method the conduct his research.
He used dogs and pigeons as his subjects because he assumed that the brains of
lower animals were very similar to the human brain. For his experiments, Flourens
would destroy a part of the brain and note the behavior change (if there was one).
By doing this, Flourens found loss in coordination and equilibrium when the
cerebellum was removed. Paul Broca was the first to find localization of function
in the cerebral cortex. Tan was a man who suffered from speech inability. When
admitted to the hospital, Tan, was placed under Broca s care. By examining Tan,
Broca discovered that the left frontal lobe (Broca s Area) must be where language
and speech ability must be in the brain. Not long after, Tan died and a biopsy of his
brain revealed a large lesion in the frontal

AP English IV
Book Report
Jack the Ripper
Jack the Ripper was a notorious serial killer, whom some believe never even existed
at all.
From August to November 1888, Jack the Ripper terrorized the East End of London
by being responsible for the death and mutilation of at least seven female prostitutes.
The destitute East End is also known as the White Chapel district of London,
England. A few of the prostitutes were targeted as they were leaving brothels in and
around the White Chapel district. Jack the Ripper seemed to be targeting drunken
women who had no sense of time or what they were doing (Jack the Ripper).

The rest of the responsibility lies with the Ripper. He may have been a sexual serial
killer of a type all too common in the 1990 s, but he was also bent on terrifying a
city and making the whole world take notice of him by leaving his horribly mutilated
victims in plain sight. Lastly, the Ripper was never caught and it is the mysteries
surrounding this killer that both add to the romance of the story and creating an
intellectual puzzle that people still want to solve ( Ebsco host).
It is unclear just how many women the Ripper killed. It is generally accepted that
he killed five, though some have written that he murdered only four while others
say seven or more. The public, press, and even many junior police officers believed
that the Ripper was responsible for nine slayings. The five that are generally
accepted are:
1. Mary Ann (Polly) Nichols murdered Friday, August 31 1888.
2. Annie Chapman, murdered Saturday , September 8, 1888.
3. Elizabeth Stride, murdered Sunday, September 30, 1888.
4. Catharine Eddowes, also murdered that same date.
5. Mary Jane (Marie Jeanette) Kelly, murdered Friday, November 9, 1888. Besides
these five there are good reasons to believe that the first victim was really Martha
Tabram who was murdered Tuesday, august 7, 1888, and there are important
considerations for questioning whether Stride was a Ripper victim. As to the actual
number of women that the Ripper killed, there is no simple

This child, lets call him, Jack. With no control at all, Jack was fortunate enough to
be born into high income country, like New Zealand Then there s, Jill. With the
same amount of control as Jack, he added to the total of 10,368 children born into
poverty a day. That s one child, every 1.2 seconds Jack has a 1 in 165 chance of
dying before he s 5. Jill on the other hand is not so lucky and the odds of him
reaching his 5th birthday are 1 in 6. Everyone was born into and are living in
circumstances that they haven t chosen, it s not something we can change, we just
have to live with it. It s something that has a huge impact and often determines the
direction of our lives. We can t choose whether we were born into rich family or a
poor family. We can t choose if we re black or white, male or female, disabled or not
disabled, tall or short, intelligent or not. These are things that don t fully define
who we are but they do often influence how people may see you. Imagine if
someone like Kate Sheppard was born into poverty, her fight for women s rights
might not have been prioritised because she had to focus on her own survival. And
even if they that did seem important, her education would probably have been very
limited. Education for females in some third world countries is frowned upon
because they don t believe in educating women. Or what if Usain Bolt was born with
cerebral palsy, affecting the part of the brain that controls legs, we d have a new
world champion sprinter.

In Hopkinson s story, experience is central as it leads to potential complications
the grandmother tries to avoid for her granddaughter by telling her personal story.
The mother opposes her mother s urges for protection and tells her it is not

because she believes her girl is too young. This opposition between both characters
links to a broader opposition between two different ways to report events: on the
one hand this story could be based on realistic facts when on the other hand it
contains allegories and a moral which are features of fairy tales. This text mixes
both types which revels Hopkinson s style, designated by herself in a 1999

Hazardous materials are not just a threat in the execution of a terrorist. Hazardous

the Hazardous Material Identification System (HMIS), first responder ability to

Biblical
Matthew Christ the King
We begin our survey of the biblical theology of the New Testament with the Gospel
of Matthew and his focus on the Lordship of Christ and our need for repentance.
Christ s identity is the focus of this Gospel because His identity holds the key to His
claim to the throne of the kingdom. This question of Christ s identity is a recurring
theme in all of the Gospels, but it is especially poignant in Matthew s account as he
is asking the specific question: What proof is there that Jesus of Nazareth is the
Messiah? Matthew begins answering this question in chapter 1 with a genealogy of
the people of Israel from Abraham to David to Christ, showing that Christ has the

Christ then goes forth to call His first disciples: Peter, James, John, and Andrew.
Then, Mark goes on (1:21 2:12) to tell of certain miracles that Christ did in the
presence of His disciples to validify His authority and claims.
Then, Mark begins to change his focus for a while. He recounts when Christ called
Levi (that is, Matthew) to follow Him, and then, having given initial proof of
Christ s authority, Mark tells how Christ actually taught His disciples as they
encountered opposition (2:18 28). A similar pattern repeats throughout the book as
Mark recounts Christ teachings (3:7 4:34; 6:1 13; 7:1 30; 8:11 9:1; 9:30 10:45) and
the works that He did to verify them (3:1 6; 4:35 5:43; 6:30 56; 7:31 8:10; 9:2 29;
10:46 11:25).
This all culminates in the authority of Christ at last being challenged by the
Sadducees and Pharisees. Finally, Christ challenges their religious authority(12:1
44), gives His disciples His final exhortations (13:1 36), and eats His last Passover
with them before His death. Finally, Mark ends with Christ charging His disciples
to go and make disciples of all nations (16:15) and gives them the accompanying
signs to validate their preaching in the eyes of the world (16:17 18, 20).

There are many theological themes running throughout the Gospel of Luke, but it

Gospel. Luke opens
29. The Pros And Cons Of Gang Violence
My Dad and Mom had lived in Little Village for most of their lives. They have been
shot at countless of times and have been threatened. My dad has lived around gang
members is whole entire life, even to this day. When my dad was a teenager, he
would have to run away from gang members since they ll try to jump him. Some gang
members would actually shoot at my dad for looking like a rival gang member.
For my dad to defend himself against the gang members, he ll need to bring his
brothers and his brother s friends involved. My dad has been asked countless of
times to join a gang especially since he s related to gang members. My Dad s
nuclear family didn t join any gangs. But my mom side is a totally different story.
My uncle was a member of the Latin Kings and to this day he isn t allowed to be
around certain parts of Chicago because he s afraid of being shot at. Everyone in
my family except my grandparents on my mom side had moved out of Chicago,
they all live in the suburbs now. My Dad works in CTA while my mom is a nurse
for Ronald McDonald Children s Hospital. My Dad comes home with stories about
being threatened and having to deal with gang members. My dad wouldn t have to
deal with that if the United States got rid of the gang activities.
Gang violence is the most prevalent in Chicago, Illinois and Los Angeles, California.
In 2013 according to the Richest, Chicago had become the most dangerous city in the
United States with an astonishing amount of 150,000 gang members

To begin with, initially, Bayardo San Roman seemed to be the godlike figure
when he just arrived to the town. All the townspeople seemed to be distracted and
swooned by him because he was a beautiful foreigner that seemed to be very
wealthy and was capable of doing many things. It also seems that he s swimming
in gold. That was in reply to the premature legend that Bayardo San Roman not
only was capable of doing everything, and doing it quite well, but also had access to
endless resources (Garcia Marquez 16). Many of the people in the town are not of
great wealth and are not able to do what Bayardo San Roman can, and this goes in
hand with the quote by Tucker Max, ...the devil doesn t come dressed in a red cape
and pointy horns. He comes as everything you ve ever wished for... (Max 567). The
townspeople wish for what Bayardo has, and with this, he influences them, either
directly or indirectly, by making himself seem as the victim when he finds out that
Angela is not a virgin. Satan has a way of making himself be seen as someone of
beauty and grace, and being someone that can manipulate the people around him,
just like Bayardo did with Xius. Bayardo finds a way to convince Xius, who would
never give up his house because it reminded of his wife, to sell his house to Bayardo.

After reading Paul Ehrlich s Population Bomb, I can understand that people were

type of subject would scare anyone and definitely cause the public to be in panic
about what will happen. It s a serious concern and the idea makes sense that if food
supply is not increasing, but the populationis there will be a higher need for food
which could lead to famine(Ehrlich, 1968). I believe at the time they thought that
population was very high and people were concerned about how many people our
planet could support. My opinion on the threat of population growthis that it not a
real threat. I believe this because we are such developed societies and countries and
the technology and resources to make almost any place livable and produce lots of
foods. I know that today there are countries and people around the world that die
because of starvation or from diseases because of unclean waters and living
conditions. I believe this is the cause of greed and selfishness because we have the

Most of the humans in the world live on just a couple of dollars a day. In fact, I
watched a special last night where Diane Sawyer exposes the startling working
middle class struggle in America. The show followed several middle class Americans
struggling to support their families and trying to make ends meet. The recent
economic struggles have seen the layoffof several employees in companies and even
some in public service. It is, however, significant to realize that since every business
and or sector is different, there must be various criteria used when laying off
employees. The general rule is that it must be justified and fairness considered across
the board. You would apply organizational planning, theories of human motivation,...

Therefore, because of prioritized staffing, I will reduce the other departments
carefully considering the work done by each department. The focus for layoff
would be in certain job positions like secretary or assistant. Laying off individual
police Captain s secretaries might not be a popular decision and could cause more
work for some of the departmental leaders, but that would be the first resource to
lose. That means if there are five secretaries or assistants, I will lay off four of them
and leave only one. Making that position for the entire department and not just one
indivdual. I would eliminate the position of office messenger because most of the
communications happen online and most departments have Wi Fi. Another thought
is to offer and early retirement option. Early retirement could hopefully generate
some stimulus, and it may be able to get at least three to four officers to retire early.
Offering early retirement can identify persons willing to take retirement and give
them a retirement package with full benefits (George, 2003). Thereby ensuring
federal laws of age discrimination are not a factor.

Greece has joined Europe Union since 1981. In the 1990s, it steadily ran
substantial budget deficits while using the Drachma as its currency. As a result, in
2001 Greece decided to adopt the euro as a solution of its budget deficits. After
using euro, all went well for the first several years. Like other Eurozone countries,
Greece benefited from the power of the euro, which meant lower interest rates and
an inflow of investment capital and loans. Greece enjoyed a period of growth from
2001 to 2007. This boom was described by several analysts as unsustainable growth.
In 2008, Greece was seriously affected by the subprime mortgage crisis and it was
unable to recover from this crisis. In 2009, Greece admitted its budget deficit would
be 12.9% of GDP. That s more than four times the EU s 3% limit. Afterward, Greece
was prevented from borrowing in the financial markets.
The first bailout was occurred in 2010 when the Troika started handling Greece loans
in exchange for spending cuts and tax hikes. A second later bailout brought the total
amount given to Greece roughly ВЈ169 billion. The government still has a debt load.
By 2011, the EU and the IMF have provided €240 billion in emergency funds In
return for even more austerity measures. Unfortunately, the measures further reduced
the Greek economy, falling the tax revenues required to repay the debt.
Unemployment reached 25%. Many Greek economists blame the austerity measures
for much of the country s continuing issues.

A virtual community is a type of imagined community and is a difficult concept to

Anthropologists undergo the practice of participation observation on the internet ,

March is that special time of year when spring is on the verge of bursting forth in
colourful profusion it will be time to think about preparing for the coming season.
Even as the gaudy yellows of the glorious Daffodils, the pretty pinks and blues of
pert Primroses, and the profusion of bright colour that is the flowering Forsythia
appear, giving the garden a wonderful feeling of renewal these are just the vanguard
Following them will be a host of Tulips bursting into colourful life and carpets of

The Tomatoes were planted a month ago and are now around four to six inches tall.
By the time those Marigold seeds germinate the tomatoes will be nearly ready for
planting out.
Once the Marigold seedlings are about an inch tall thin them out and plant them up in
small pots, perhaps four in each. After a couple of weeks they can go into pots of
their own and then grown on for a few weeks more. By the end of May when it
should be warm enough to plant them out all around the now established Tomato
plants they should be sturdy enough and somehow both sets of plants seem to thrive
in the company of the other.
I have found too that onion plants, which I grow in raised beds seem to do better if
I surround them with a border of trailing Lobelia so again, at this time of year I am
filling yet more seed trays. I will be looking to grow as much young Lobelia as I
can so that I can spread it around the allotment and the garden. The beauty of this
annual is that it spreads wonderfully and attracts bees and butterflies in droves so all
the plants around the Lobelia benefit. Quite why the onions like it I have no idea but
it does seem to work
42. Walden Location Essay
In Thoreau s novel, Walden, the reader is introduced to Thoreau s world and how it
is greatly impacted by location. Thoreau begins his project by moving away from
civilization and searching for a place to live. He finds his temporary home at Walden
Pond, where he starts with few resources and little outside inputs. Thoreau even has
to borrow the axe that he uses to cut down trees to make his home for the next two
years. Thoreau asserts that his experiment, moving to WaldenPond, is not permanent.
Walden Pondis, however, the foundation precept of how location impacts one s way
of life. The place one live shapes the way one live and how one interact with the
world around oneself.
Before Thoreau makes the bold decision of living in seclusion, he lives in a
community. Thoreau decides to move away from civilization so that he can find
himself. He believes that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He sees the parts of nature around him as actual beings that have feelings. Though
personifying nature may seem strange, doing so is what prevents Thoreau from
becoming lonely. Thoreau even goes as far as to write, I am no more lonely than a
single mullein or dandelion in a pasture, or a bean leaf, or sorrel, or a horse fly, or a
bumble bee (pg #). Thoreau is content with the place he lives and becomes one with
the nature that surrounds him.
Thoreau makes use of the land and nature around him at Walden Pond. He plants
two and a half acres of beans that he farms. This shows that Thoreau is adaptive
and learns to work with nature. The rain that comes and goes helps his crops grow.
Thoreau relies on the place he lives to sustain himself. He trades his beans with
others for food, and makes a profit off of the land on which he lives. The place that
he inhabits becomes his main concern and priority. This helps readers to understand
why the place one lives and treats as one s home has such an effect on one s way of

Forcing tries to win the conflict at the other s expense. It includes hard influence
tactics, particularly assertiveness, to get one s own way (McShane Von Glinow,
2017, p. B 8). I also use problem solving as a conflict style to work together for
common ground on agreement that can counter the selfishness of forcing. Problem
solving tries to find a mutually beneficial solution for both parties (McShane Von
Glinow, 2017, p. B 8).

POWER STRATEGIES FOR MIDDLE MANAGERS

Power is a difficult concept for many individuals in western democratic ... Show more

Power is not without its temptations. At one time or another many of us have
harbored a secret fantasy to club that lethargic laggard between the eyes so he will
understand what needs to get done. Some upper level managers with a reservoir of
power could actually do so. History and literature, including management literature,
are replete with notorious examples of power abuse and the disasters that emanated
from them. If managers lack this historical perspective, or an engrained sense of
ethics, they must hope that at least the rudder of their own temperament will guide
them successfully. Without any of these supports, a myopic mindset may impel them
to use their power in destructive ways, eventually dissipating it.
Other top level managers can shoulder burdens and deliver results in more subtle
fashion. They have learned that power abuse can curtail effectiveness. They know the
downside risks of unilateral imposition and have acquired the expertise, experience
and empathy to avoid these pitfalls. Experience can instill appreciation for unintended
consequences, and training can imbue ethical precepts. Many scholars attribute the
long term durability of organizations, and even whole societies, to successful

power usually garner the nimbus of leadership.

Data from the new census show that the population of the Vancouver metropolitan
area has exceeded the national growth rate in the past five years. Statistics Canada
released the first batch of 2016 census numbers on Wednesday and the population of
what the government agency refers to as the Vancouver metropolitan area has
increased 6.5 percent since the last census in 2011. The growth rate of the area was
above the national growth rate of 5.0 percent, while the population of British
Columbia increased by 5.6 percent. The municipalities with the highest individual
growth were Surrey at 10.6 per cent, Langley municipality at 12.6 per cent and the
area comprising UBC and Endownment Land at 24.2 per cent. The metropolitan areas

The census indicated that Vancouver ranked No. 3 among the country s 35
metropolitan regions. The population of Canada on the day of the census was
35,151,728, the statistics said. The national census is conducted every five years.
The information released on Wednesday is the first of several data releases coming
from Canada s statistics next year that will eventually produce a detailed picture of
the country up to the local level including age old population shifts, family makeup,
languages Speaking, immigration and ethnic origin, the level of education achieved
and the gains obtained. Future census releases will provide more information to
explain the reasons for population changes whether related mainly to changes in birth
and death rates, immigration or interprovincial migration. BC surpassing 5 provinces

47. Imagery In Elie Wiesel s Night
The Power of Imagery in Night
Imagery is a portrait that is painted in your mind, a portrait that makes you feel you
are there. The Holocaust is full of disturbing and horrible images of death. Pictures
of inhumanity that just make you sick looking at them. In many images you see the
pale, unemotional faces whose lives were changed for eternity, and yet with these
images some believe that the Holocaust did not happen. In the Holocaust there was
mass genocide of over six million Jews. Also many ethnic Poles, gypsies, Soviet
civilians, Soviet prisoners of war, disabled people, homosexual men, and political
and religious opponents were targeted by the Nazis to be exterminated. Hitler s
ultimate goal during the Holocaust was to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the background the sun is setting on the horizon. Elie and many others start to
cry in anguish, but the worst has yet to come. They still have to march past the
bodies of the hanging. The two men were no longer alive. Their tongues were
hanging out, swollen and bluish (64). But then there was the revolting scene of the
third rope. It was still moving, the child was not yet dead. He hanged there for
more than half an hour wiggling like a worm, lingering between life and death,
writhing before our eyes (65). When Elie passed him he was still alive and his tongue
was still red, his eyes still open. Elie heard behind him, For God s sake, where is
God? (65). During that night Elie s soup tasted of corpses. Imagine being in a cell
filled with hundreds of people that are sweaty and repulsively smelling. That is
what the barracks is like for Elie. People piled one onto of another all moving and
gasping for air. Some people are even senselessly being trampled and killed. While
in the barracks Elie can hear desperate, familiar cries beneath him, You re crushing
me ...have mercy! (93). It took Elie a minute, but he remembered who the familiar
voice is from, Juliek. He is the boy from Warsaw who plays the violin in the Buna
orchestra. Elie yells out, Juliek, is that you? Eliezer...The twenty five
whiplashes...Yes...I remember....Are you all right Juliek?...All right Eliezer (93). Elie
is glad to hear that Juliek is alive, but thought he lost his mind
48. Flu Shots Experience
Today I got to experience giving middle school and high school students flu shots at
Lanier County Middle/High School. I was expecting the students to be nervous and
show signs of intimidation at the sight of the needle. Before going to the school, I
helped the nurse gather the equipment we were going to use, which included, the
influenzaimmunizations, Band Aids, alcohol prep wipes, and gloves. We also
brought colorful pencils and stickers for the students after receiving their flu shot.
The nurse also made sure to bring the emergency kit, which consisted of epinephrine,
just in case anyone had an allergic reaction. Once we arrived at the school, we
discovered that only 30 students out of 800 had consent forms to receive their flu...

This health department does a good job with keeping patients up to date on their
immunizations. A patient came in wanting a flu shot, and was 69 years old. The
nurse questioned the patient about if she had ever received the pneumococcal
immunization. The patient had never received the vaccine, so we talked to the patient
about its importance, and she ended up getting immunized. We had another young
couple come in for flu shots, so I got a lot of practice with giving intramuscular shots
today. Generally, I think Lanier County health department does contribute to the
overall health of the community. They are efficient when a patient comes in to do a
thorough assessment, not just physical, but asking about the patients home life and
family. The number of people that have come to the health department to receive an
influenza shot has represented a large portion of Lanier County residents. This can
potentially reduce the spread of influenza through out the community. Because there
were so few students at the schools to receive the shot, the nurses discussed going
back to the schools to try to get more students immunized in hopes of further reducing
the frequency of influenza within the school system and the
49. My Core Personal Values
My personal values presumably act as a basis to recognize between what is right and
wrong and thus, determine my daily actions and emotions. My mother, Jo Ann Smith
and my education have both played profound roles in the development of my core
personal values: personal integrity, responsibility, and ambition. Additionally, these
influences have demonstrated that the rule based approach determined what conduct
is consistent with these key values.
Before I was the age of 6, my parents were divorced. Ever since moving back to
Pennsylvania in 2004, I have been living with my mom. As a child, my mom taught
me to not be dishonest, disrespectful, or self centered, since they all are morally
incorrect in today s society. According to these... Show more content on

A commitment to spending time with my family, supporting them in all of their
endeavors and making them proud.
A commitment to my personal image to always lead by example; and a commitment
to setting goals and systematically working towards achieving them. Code of Conduct
Conduct consistent with my value of personal integrity:
1. I will treat people as I want to be treated myself (the Golden Rule).
Explanation: The focus point of my life is that my family follows The Golden
Rule by treating others as you want to be treated yourself. This concept of the
Golden Rule will continue to allow me to become courteous of others on a daily
basis when dealing with people. Just when some days I am in an unparticular poor
mood, does not give me the right to take my frustrations out on the world.
Nonetheless, it is important that I attempt to create a positive impact on others on
whatever the case may be, considering that every individual deserves the right to be
respected. For example, just starting a conversation with someone or simply asking
how their day is going will hopefully allow them to leave their stress behind and
acknowledge that others have their own sensibility. Nevertheless, showing respect
for someone will display how important your life is as equal as someone else.
Conduct consistent with my value of excellence:
2. I will never be satisfied with anything being less than my best effort.
Explanation: If I want to truly pursue sports
50. Using Data From The British Election Study
This paper is a research project that uses data from the British Election Study. The
study has responses from 2987 participants selected at random for the survey. The
survey asks a variety of questions regarding the elections and the perceptions of
the participants. The questions include responses for voting preferences, issues
faced in the elections of 2015, inclination of the voter towards left or right, taxation
and spending views, views of respondents regarding immigration, economic status
and so forth. The response scales used are close ended with multiple choice and
Likert scale questions on a scale of one to ten being used. Due to the large amount
of data and the variety of information asked, this report will restrict itself to testing
a few hypotheses, which will be targeted towards specific areas, and which can be
proved or disproved through use of cross tabulation analysis based on data obtained
in the survey. It has been noted that the economic status of a voter tends to impact
the political leanings of the voter. It was noted in a survey carried out in the USA
that wage levels were an indicator of voter preferences where people who earned less
than $70,000 noted to lean towards the liberal, Democratic Party, while those who
earned more tended to be more conservative in leaning towards the Republican Party
(Thompson, 2012). Another study conducted in Malaysia concluded that voters
consider the economic conditions of the country before voting for a government, and
51. Essay On Titration Of Carbonate And Bicarbonate
Determine the total alkalinity of (=[HCO 3 +2[CO2 3]) by preforming a titration
with the use of HCl.
Determine the Bicarbonate content (HCO 3 + OH в†’ CO2 3 + H2O) by
preforming a titration with the use of NaOH to convert HCO3 to CO2 3.
Calculate the composition of carbonate and bicarbonate in the solution.
Introduction
Acid base titrations are common laboratory practices that are used to determine the
concentration of either an acid or a base, by neutralizing the substance with a known
concentration of an acid or base. Crude sodium carbonate, also called soda ash, is
commonly used as a commercial neutralizing agent. In this experiment, we will
determine the composition of an unknown solid, knowing only that it contains sodium

Using this, the concentration of carbonate can be determined from the total alkalinity
(see Results).
Experimental Information
Procedure
At the start of the experiment all the following glassware was cleaned with DI
water, and soap; then dried to remove traces of DI water that remained. The
glassware used was a 50mL buret, (3) 150 mL volumetric flask, a 25mL glass
pipet, and a 250mL volumetric flask. 2.5 grams of solid unknown was added to the
250mL volumetric flask with the use of a funnel, and DI water was filled to the mark
on the 250mL volumetric flask, making sure to rinse the funnel, so the unknown
residue presented on the funnel can rinse down into the flask. After removing the
funnel, we diluted to the mark with DI water, and swirled the flask, until all of the
powder was dissolved. This experiment involved two different titrations. The first
titration we observed was for total alkalinity (=[HCO 3 +2[CO2 3]) which was
measured by titrating the mixture with 0.1 M HCl to a bromocresol green end
point. After 2L of 0.1M HCl were prepared, and divided among all groups. 25.00 mL
aliquot of unknown solution was pipetted into a 150mL volumetric flask, using
bromocresol green as the indicator, to observe the color change from a tinted light
blue to a tinted light green, being the
