There Will Come Soft Rains And Meeting At Night
Poems are usually based on life experiences have a common thread connecting them together. The
poems There Will Come Soft Rains by Sara Teasdale and Meeting at Night by Robert Browning both
share connections. These poems are both about nature; however, they are also connected through
personification, tone, alliteration. Alliteration is one of the most significant ways they are connected.
Alliteration can be described as the repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of words. The
speaker of the poem There Will Come Soft Rains begins by saying, There will come soft rains and the
smell of the ground / And swallows circling with their shimmering sound, (Teasdale 1 2). As well as
when the speaker of Meeting At Night starts off the poem by explaining, The gray sea and the long
black land / And the yellow half moon large and low, (Browning 1 2). The two poems both share the
evident use of alliteration. The speaker of There Will Come Soft Rains uses the consonant sound of
the letter s to start many of the words in the first two lines. Likewise, in Meeting ... Show more

In There Will Come Soft Rains the speaker states And swallows circling with / Their shimmering
sound, (Teasdale 3 4). In the same way in Meeting at Night the speaker states, Then a mile of warm
scented beach, (Browning 7). These two poems both explain nature as something beautiful and nice.
The speaker of There Will Come Soft Rains explains the sound of the swallows as shimmering which
usually has a good connotative meaning which makes the reader think of bright, happy, pretty things.
As well as in Meeting at Night the speaker describes the beach as warm scented which the reader will
think of good, warm comforting things. Because both of these poems use words to describe nature as
nice and beautiful, the tone of these poems is similar. The tone of these poems connects them as well
as alliteration and personification

Effect of Colonization in Kenya

2nd period
The effect of colonialism in Kenya This essay analyses the effect of colonialism in Kenya. It explains
the depth of colonialism within Kenya s context and analyses the impact of colonial conquest, the
imposition of international and local administrative boundaries. It also examined further the lasting
consequences of colonial economic and social policies concerning colonialism in Kenya. This essay
gives more explanation that has to do with British colonialism in Kenya. Colonialism developed from
imperialism, which can be referred to as the highest stage of capitalism. Capitalism, imperialism and
colonialism share ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Internally African, Indian and European settler interests were also at variance. More often than not
European settlers had the ear of pro settler governors. Moreover, in the interest of capital these
policies were anchored on partial dissolution and restructuring of pre colonial structures. It was also in
the interest of capital to place the market under the colonial state s control. This was done with greater
enthusiasm during the post Second World War period more popularly known as the second colonial
occupation. Colonial commodity production, because of inappropriate practice, led to widespread
environmental degradation. Forest concessions, which were granted to individuals and companies led
to massive deforestation. Colonial enterprises destroyed local industries. Generally the colonial
economic policies in Kenya were instrumental in incorporating the pre capitalist communities into the
colonial and international economic systems. This persisted into the post colonial period. Similarly,
Christian missionary activities destroyed African culture through the gospels of salvation, obedience
and work. Through Western education, which they dominated despite the colonial state s role,
Christian missions preached against African cultures. They were emphatic that the Africans salvation
must be gauged on the extent to which traditional cultural practices were abandoned. Their
invocations about obeying the government because it is God who

How Did The Second Industrial Revolution Change American...
In post Civil War America, the Second Industrial Revolution changed society in all aspects.
Technological innovation, particularly, allowed for aggressive westward expansion and the creation of
the American millionaire encouraged American settlers further. Expansionism was merciless,
destroying local environments and causing sporadic negotiation with the Amerian Indian groups that
were the first to experience the negative effects of industrialization. A combination of government
corruption, changing policies, and aggressive expansionism led to conflicts between white settlers and
American Indian groups. American Indian policy in the US had been ever changing but as westward
expansion began the reservation system, rather than cohabitation, was the most popular method for the
theoretical protection of native groups. Disregarding the shortcomings of the reservation system,
American Indians could live and practice their beliefs as they always ... Show more content on

It did, however, further exacerbate already existing issues. The flawed reservation system did more
than frustrate American Indians; many died from lack of resources that were promised to them. The
treaties that allowed whites to take native homelands often assured that on reservations, American
Indians would be provided with resources and money. The reality, however, was that federal agents
tasked with overseeing reservations often pocketed the funds and didn t care to ensure other resources
were provided. As a result, many American Indian groups were forced to leave the reservations or face
starvation, but the damage wrought by expansionism often meant depleted resources even off reserved
land. The conditions on reservations and aggressive expansionism encouraged the Ghost Dance
movement, which was a spiritual practice that sought to resurrect bison populations and push whites

Prenatal Care During The United States Essay
Prenatal care in the United States was not the way is today, there have been some improvements in
regards to prenatal care. The number of pregnant women who received prenatal care has increased
over the past 75 years (Zolotor and Carlough, 2014). Today, medical providers deliver more integrated
services, which includes evidence based screening, counseling, medical care, and psychosocial
support.
In the past, in the United States the majority of women delivered at home with no anesthetics; women
might have received assistance through a family doctor, including midwife care (Thomas, 2011). A
radical change happened by the 1960s, when hospital childbirths had become the norm, the pain of the
experience was reduced by epidural anesthesia controlled by a physician. Pregnant women received
education on breastfeeding and other topics during their medical visits (Thomas, 2011).
Prenatal care policies were implemented to reduce infant mortality rates and poor birth outcomes.
Over the past several years commissioners recommended improving access to prenatal care. In 1980
congress initiated the expansion of Medicaid eligibility for pregnant women for the purpose of
improving prenatal care (Schlesinger and Kronebusch, 1990.) Some states integrated the Aid to
Families programs with Dependent Children care (AFDC) to assist women who live at the poverty
level and do not qualify for Medicaid until they become pregnant.
Even though the nation has had a great improvement in regards to

A Hero In Percy A Lightening Thief
Do you know what it s like to be a hero? A hero to you may be the superman in a comic book that
saves the girl from the bad guy. Or a hero can be someone that fought for what they believed in. A
hero can really just be the one main character in a story or in real life that makes an effort to make
everything right and helps everyone. If you ve ever met a hero like a soldier, a role model, or an
important person in your life you know that a hero is one that is noble and does the right things to help
others not only there selves. Being a hero is when you re selfless, brave, and humble. Heroes are the
characters that learn the most and do the most affective actions. There is always going to be a hero in
every story, movie, or real life scenario. A hero doesn t have to be the one who saves someone s life or
fights off evil and is always wearing a cape. A hero can be as simple as someone doing the right thing
not for themselves but for the good of someone else. Hero s choose to make the right choices even if it
s not to satisfy themselves and that can be shown in many ways. For example in the book Percy

Teaching English For Speakers Of Other Languages ( Esol )
This essay attempts to analyze the effect of different approaches to grammar teaching in the English
for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classroom. Basically, two approaches which are task based
learning (TBL) and presentation practice production (PPP) will be discussed and compared from
different aspects.
A great quantity of English teachers consider the significant part of English teaching is about
improving the communicative competence of students and grammar is less concerned than it. It cannot
be deny that during the whole process of English teaching, grammar may not the main part. However,
it is difficult to imagine student can produce English accurately without learning grammar
construction especially in the English as a foreign language (EFL) classroom. The importance of
grammar teaching should be seen by teachers. Therefore, this essay is mainly about studying and
contrasting grammar approaches to find out which one is more beneficial or to what extent teacher
should take advantage of this two approaches in grammar teaching class.
First of all, this essay will review relevant literature about TBL and PPP, explain the definition and
compare these two approaches. Then according to the video He s been to Turkey this essay will decide
which approach to grammar teaching did the teacher apply during the class and evaluate the lesson
with improvements. Finally, based on the previous content, it will make a conclusion of approaches to
grammar teaching.

Banquet At Dunsinane
Banquet at Dunsinane
In Macbeth the scene of the banquet at Dunsinane shows the guilt of Macbeth, reveals to us the extent
of his madness and marks the suspicion of the Scottish lords. Macbeth shows the audience the extent
of his insanity, rouses suspicion from the Scottish lords and contributes to the overarching theme of
guilt. Macbeth s constant shouting at the apparition shows how far gone he is. It marks his lack of self
control in the face of his guilt, his fear of being discovered and refusal to come to terms with what he
has done. Likewise the lords see this outburst and are clued into Macbeth s usurping of power by his
blaming of others, he makes himself suspicious and tells them of his murdering Banquo. Macbeth s
quilt here develops a theme of guilt in the play
Macbeth shows the Scottish lords that he has bodies in his closet by the way he speaks making
reference to haunting spirits, trying to shift the blame of his actions onto others and by referencing the
murders he has made. In many religions the soul of a body lives on after death and continues the life
of the person, Macbeth possibly believing this in his fit of anger at the apparition infront of him says
... Our monuments/ shall be the maw of Kites Shakespeare.III.iv.120 121. Kites meaning vultures,
scavenge for food by eating dead bodies. An unprotected corpse could be eaten by them and thus the
soul would die. Macbeth is haunted by the soul of Banquo, which he would have reason to be haunted
by.

Lockheed Martin Case Analysis
Later on 12th December 2016, Trump slammed Lockheed Martin for the high cost expenditure tied
with its F 35 program. The market reaction was quite immediate where the shares of the aerospace
company tumbled more than 4% in early trade. Rational investors might have considered that the jet
manufacturer was on the point to lose its military contract from the government due to the high cost
involved. As a response to this, this tweet has spurred the investors to forgo on such investment,
driving the prices down. A slight recovery from the losses was made the company s shares but
eventually ended up closing at about 2% lower. Furthermore, the company also slump by $4 billion in
its market value right after the tweet of the president elect. (Jr., 2017) However, on this day, Lockheed

The President expressed on social media, his disagreement for the ridiculously high costs involved in
Lockheed Martin F 35 program and that he has turned to Boeing for the quotation of a comparable F

investors hints about the company losing its contract with the government became higher. However,
since Boeing was asked to price out its military jet, the participants in the markets were keen to invest
in Boeing with the thought that the company would quote a lower cost to win the contract. In reaction
to this tweet, the company s shares plunged by 2% while that of its competitor, Boeing saw a surge of
0.5%. (Wang, 2017) (Macias, 2017)Post tweet the company s valuation was promptly lowered by $1.2
billion. As mentioned earlier, prior to this tweet, Trump went on to Boeing for its expensive Air Force
One program. This kind of flurry tweet on behalf of the President may generate competition but the
risk of market instability should not also be ignored. (Olsen,

An Analysis of Moulin Rouge
Moulin Rouge(2001) is an Oscar winning master piece from director Baz Luhrmann. It followed the
success and recognition of Romeo + Juliet (1996) and Strictly Ballroom (1992). All three films were
recognized for Luhrmann s characteristic style. His films feature stylistic choices such as blue and red
lighting, the use of rapid cuts and vibrant, period accurate costume. To analyze Luhrmann s use of the
four elements of the stylistic system, I will consider two specific scenes from the film, namely El
Tango De Roxanne and the first meeting between the Duke, Christian and Satine. Although they both
feature singing and dancing, the mood evoked by each contrasts completely.
Every film uses the stylistic system to structure a narrative that ... Show more content on

To follow the dialogue, Luhrmann crosses the axis of action. Bordwell and Thompson define the axis
of action as; the imaginary line that passes from side to side through the main actors, defining all the
spatial relations of all the elements of the scene as being to the right or left. The camera is not
supposed to cross the axis at a cut and thus reverse those spatial relations. (2008, pg 477). Luhrmann
manages to cross the axis of action by moving his camera around the outside of the group of
characters. This way, the audience doesn t get disorientated by a constant changing of character
positions but also enables them to see all the characters in relation to one another and their reactions to
the dialogue.
When the music begins and the characters are doing choreographed dance steps, the takes become
longer and the shot scale is long to medium. This is done specifically so that the audience can take in
all the action and spectacle in each shot. Luhrmann also makes use of quick camera movements; such
as the whip pan (quick rotation on the horizontal axis) when moving from character to character
during the song which once again enforces how busy the scene is.
The entire scene takes place in the elephant outside the Moulin Rouge which is Satine s private
boudoir and the place that she entertains all her male guests. The décor inside is very oriental and
opulent; the predominant colours are red and gold with rich

Effects Of Immigrants In The 1920s
Fear and greed pump through the veins of our sweet American people causing a boundary between the
truth and the presumption of immigrants. Immigrants have always been the friendly strangers who ve
come to enjoy America s freedom with ambitious mindsets. However, as soon as the immigrants
started affecting the future of true Americans, these friendly strangers instantly were seen as evil
intruders. The rumors spread of the evil doings of immigrants, which lead to the presumption that
immigrants only had wrong intentions when migrating to our country. Many Americans sought to find
a reason to kick the immigrants out of their country because the immigrants migrating had no benefits
to them. The presumption of immigrants consisted of the facts that they took jobs from others or were
threats to the well being of America. In order to protect American citizens from these alleged
wrongdoings, the government chose to limit the amount of immigrants through acts, such as the
National Origins Act and the Emergency Quota Act. Furthermore, the government used the ideas
rooted from fear and greed of the surrounding citizens to inspire this idea of setting up limitations,
which led to to the abhorrent treatment of immigrants in the 1920 s.
Fear is a contagious virus, which infected the citizens of America and as time went on the virus
worsened. It all began towards the end of WWI, Russia s Soviet Union strengthened with the support
of Vladimir Lenin leading the

Treatment Plan
Introduction Fritscher (2011) postulates that a treatment plan may be formal or it may consist of
informal handwritten notes. This is largely dependent on the documentation required by the agency or
facility and all the other parties involved. However, regardless of its format, Fritscher (2011) states
that the treatment plan should always be subject to change as the case progresses. According to
Vrouvas (2013), a treatment plans can work as a mean of providing clients with guidelines that may
foster moral support, provide incentive and offer practical solutions for dealing with adversity. This
paper will describe a treatment plan and how it will be presented to the client. The paper will also
make specific reference to Brittany. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, since Brittany s treatment plan was developed in consultation with her, the level of
resistance should be minimal.
Therefore, through formal and informal discussion, the client will be notified of the finalized
treatment plan and specific focus will be placed on the objectives of the plan. It would also be
acceptable to present a written copy of the treatment plan to the client. In any case, a copy of the
treatment plan should always be available upon the client s request.
Conclusion
Conclusively, Brittany s treatment plan will form an agreement between her and the agency and may
be modified periodically to accommodate the needs of the client. This could prove to be quite
empowering for the client. Therefore, the problem or issues should be clearly identified and the
determined objectives should be both measurable and realistic. In addition, all four parts of the
treatment plan should be jointly related and should therefore reduce all confusions, misunderstandings
and misinterpretations. This is necessary, especial as it relates to the client. Undoubtedly, when the
client and the individuals responsible for facilitating the treatment plan work together cooperatively, it
increases the likelihood of a successful process.

A Feasibility Study Example
A respectable business is always looking for ways to better serve their customers, especially a
cooperative, but this is sometimes easier said than done. To help determine how achievable a better
service would be for a business a feasibility study is often preformed. The Farmers Cooperative
Association of Snyder, OK is interested in purchasing an automatic truck probe as well as building an
additional receiving pit and leg to attach to the existing wheat tanks. So, a feasibility study was
preformed to determine if either option would be a practical investment. The first step for this process
was to get a couple of quotes for an automatic truck probe. After some research on different brands the
manager contacted J.A. King Precision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would also allow for samples to be taken from several different locations on the truck. Furthermore,
having an automatic probe takes out an employ which allows for that money to benefit the
membership of the co op thus allowing the co op to give better service to the customers. The main risk
in this investment would be the ability to afford the cost of a probe. With the wheat market
deteriorating the possibility going into the hole on this investment increases drastically. Damage to the
probe is also a possibility, and a additional expense that could make the probe less profitable. But in
this case the benefits seem to outweigh the risks making this investment one to consider to better serve
the customer. After some research was done on the automatic truck probe the focus was shifted to the
addition of a new receiving pit and leg. Pitcock Supply Inc. was contacted by the intern for a quote
and they sent out an agent to take measurements for the location and get all the specifics. The quote
allowed for a 15,000 BPH Schlagel conveyor, concrete pit, concrete pad, and a Schlagel distributer.
The total which included labor, misc. equipment, rentals, paint, freight, a crane, and insurance came to
$304,698.55. An investment of this size usually comes with risks to match, therefor it is imperative to
consider. Looking at the figure above, it is easy to see what an enormous risk this would be for the co
op. If the cost was depreciated out it would take roughly

that has enabled company success through a focus on highly specialized services and products that are
not in high volume demand, but maybe in high value demand. The concept of the post tourist, for
example, is a Long Tail phenomenon. Long Tail marketing approaches are proving success due to
advances in communication technology and social networking that have given more people access to a

than 30% of Amazon book sales are for those that are below its 130,000 top sellers (Anderson, 2004;

that contain a much larger selection of books that are not available at any single brick and mortar

one billion items for sale, resulting in over US$32 billion in total sales ( EBay Profit, 2004). They
accomplished this by enabling its users, including both individuals and small companies, to sell a

However, there is a demand. These low amplitude products comprise the Long Tail, and eBay may be
the most successful Long Tail aggregator yet. At the same time, however, the near monopoly position
of eBay.com itself, among online auction websites, points to some of the challenges of marketing in
the Long Tail. THE LONG TAIL MARKET APPROACH The Long Tail market has huge potential.
However, it is highly distributed and highly individualized. The lesson ofthe Long Tail is that low

Social Darwinism Book Report
Social Darwinism is the theory of evolution applied to human society. Social Darwinism was a term
formed in the late 19th century to describe the idea that humans, like plants and animals, compete in a
struggle for existence. The theory of evolution came about in 1859, when Charles Darwin, an English
naturalist and geologist, published a book called, On the Origin of Species. The book talks about
Darwin s theory of evolution by natural selection and survival of the fittest. Darwin believed that
organisms change over time as a result of changes in physical or behavioral traits. One of Darwin s
main points in his book was, Survival of the fittest. This refers to an animal s ability to survive and
reproduce. Species evolve through changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan, and Henry Ford. These were just a few business men that
followed the idea of Social Darwinism. In the late 1820 s, Cornelius Vanderbilt went into business on
his own, building steamships in the New York area, eventually becoming one of the largest steamship
operators. In the 1860 s, the railroad industry was entering a period of great expansion, so he shifted
his attention to make railroad transportation more efficient. Vanderbilt s goal was to control the steel
industry. He bought out competitors and suppliers, giving him total power to set the cost of his product
to what he wanted. Vanderbilt used the idea of Social Darwinism when he transferred from working
the shipping to railroad business. He knew that if he kept his shipping business, it wouldn t be as
profitable later on. That s why he invested his money, focus, and time into building a successful
railroad industry. At a young age, John D. Rockefeller acted much like a young businessman, selling
candy to local children and supporting his family. In 1870, Rockefeller established the Standard Oil
Company of Ohio. He eventually controlled 90 percent of the refining business. With his large profits,
he drove his competitors out of business by selling the oil cheaper than what it cost to produce the oil.
After taking total control, he raised the price of oil to make his money back. In 1873, Andrew
Carnegie entered the steel business and by 1899, the Carnegie Steel Company manufactured more
steel than all the factories in Great Britain. Carnegie s success was to searching for ways to make
better products more cheaply and hired chemists to improve the quality of the steel. He used a vertical
integration which he bought out his suppliers, giving him total power of the cost and quality of his
product. Carnegie was greatly influenced by Herbert Spencer s, Social Darwinism. Spencer believed

Examples Of Rejection In Frankenstein
People often harshly judge the physical appearance of people. Acceptance and rejection is not only
perceived in the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelly but also in the modern society. Specifically,
people tend to get rejected and accepted very often in relationships; one person will deny the date of
another person. Frankenstein not only demonstrated the power of social acceptance and rejection but
also how these factors can shape an artificial human being. The creature, which Victor Frankenstein
had created, encountered many hardships while trying to adapt into the new and foreign society. The
rejection and isolation he receives from the society contributed to its decisions which determined not
only its future but also the destiny of its creator,

Population Growth in South Florida and Salt Water Intrusion
Introduction
Rapid population growth in South Florida has significantly increased the demand for water and the
strain on the fresh groundwater supplies has triggered more saltwater intrusion to the Biscayne aquifer.
Saltwater intrusion has been one the main contaminant that continues to endanger the Biscayne
aquifer. It has occurred as a result of the followings: the over pumping by wells, the construction of
drainage canals, and the lowering of the water table by drought. Ongoing efforts by South Florida
water agencies to protect the aquifer from saltwater intrusion include groundwater monitoring, water
management and conservation.
The Biscayne Aquifer
An aquifer is defined as underground layers of rock saturated with water that can be brought to the
surface through natural springs or by pumping. Named after Biscayne Bay, the Biscayne aquifer is a
coastal, unconfined aquifer because its top portion is the water table and it merges with the floor of
Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Underlies an area of approximately 4000 square miles, the
Biscayne aquifer s maps out from the southern tip of the state northwest along a wavy line to south
Palm Beach County. The cross section of the aquifer resembles a wedge and its gets deeper as it gets
closer to the eastern coast. The Biscayne aquifer is the primary source of freshwater to most of South
Florida (Dade, Broward and part of Palm Beach counties). Furthermore, water from the aquifer is
pumped through pipeline to the

Hamlet And Ophelia
In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, there were many important characters just like Hamlet
who show up in more than three fourths of the play; but there are also characters that don t necessarily
show up as much but still have a strong role. One of the characters that didn t get as much screen time
but was still important was Ophelia. Ophelia was a sister, girlfriend, and daughter that so many people
loved. Therefore, Despite the lack of presence of Ophelia, she ultimately played a big role in the lives
of a lot of the characters. Throughout the play, Hamlet and Ophelia have a very strong love
connection. They loved each other and wanted to eventually get married. Hamlet and Ophelia hit some
bumps in the road in their relationship but they always secretly wanted to be together. In Act 1, Scene
3, It was hard for Ophelia to comprehend when Polonius told her that he thought Hamlet s love for her
wasn t real, but she didn t know what to believe. When Hamlet could no longer see Ophelia he began
to get mad a frustrated, to add on also that he was going crazy over his own father s death. Another
time Ophelia was important in Hamlet s life was after not seeing Ophelia for a while Hamlet stumbles
upon a grave site being dug in the middle of the woods, but at the time he doesn t know who for.
When Hamlet find out that Ophelia is the one that is being put to rest he starts to go crazy again. He
says I loved Ophelia. Forty thousand brothers, if you added all their love together, couldn t match
mine. What are you going to do for her? ( V, I, pg.12. lines 247 249). Hamlet is basically trying to say
that even if they don t believe him he really did love Ophelia. Gertrude responded by saying, This is
pure insanity. He ll be like this for a little while (V, I, pg. 12 lines 247 249). When Gertrude says this
she basically means that he has gone crazy before that this is normal he will calm down soon. Therefor
Ophelia played a huge role in Hamlet s life without necessarily being there all of the time. Ophelia and
Laertes also had a very important relationship as brother and sister. Although they didn t get to see
each other all of the time they both played a big role in each other s lives. In Act

To that end they have adopted a two prong approach beginning with renewed marketing approaches to
increasing their market presence in the United States while growing the international business at a

Differences Between The Medieval Catholic Church And Pietism
The Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism are both rooted in the common ideology that God desires
relationship and salvation for all. However, the two differ greatly in missiology, theology and daily
practicality. There are major points of divergence between the Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism
from which modern day Protestantism developed. Mission theology links systematic theology with
practical theology. It outlines and interprets mission systematically and practically from the
perspective of God s mission, Christ s mission, the mission of the Holy Spirit and the mission of the
Church. The true test of The Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism regardless of the merging of
missiology or the divergence of missiology is determined by how well each one meets the challenge
of the triune God s mandated definition of mission. Ultimately, one must adhere to the Great
Commission found in Matthew Chapter 28, verses 16 20. in order to accomplish a God centered
missiology.
Tradition
Pietism viewed Scripture as the governing authority of one s life. However, the Medieval Catholic
Church embraced Scripture and traditions as authoritative. In fact, Catholicism placed equal emphasis
on Scripture and tradition. According to Catholic Catechism, this living transmission, accomplished in
the Holy Spirit, is called Tradition, since it is distinct from Sacred Scripture by showing how its riches
are poured out in the practice and life of the Church, in her belief and her prayer. It

Rhetorical Analysis Of Star Wars
Star Wars Rhetorical Analysis
On May 25, 1977, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was released. George Lucas created the science
fiction series using Joseph Campbell s hero s journey plot structure. Campbell created the plot
structure by expanding on psychologist Carl Jung s idea of the archetype. Archetypes are reoccurring
symbols that can be found in literature, music, and art. Lucas found that Campbell s Hero s Journey
was the perfect structure for the plot of Star Wars. The Hero s Journey consists of ten steps which the
protagonist, usually the hero, has to complete. Throughout the movie, George Lucas perfectly
orchestrated all ten steps of the Hero s Journey, and also used dozens of the archetypes that Campbell
created.
Episode IV was set during a time of war between the Rebellion, the good side, and the Empire, which
is considered the evil side. The science fiction story is about a young man, Luke Skywalker, who
travels into space to fight against the Empire. Luke is from the planet Tatooine, a desert, where he
farms water with his uncle. Luke s uncle buys two droids, R2D2 and C3PO, who happen to have been
involved in the war and worked for the rebellion. Luke discovers a recording in one of the droids of
Princess Leia saying she needed help, and that sparks the beginning of his journey. He meets Ben, also
known as Obi Wan Kenobi, who becomes his mentor, and teaches him how to use the force . In Star
Wars, the force is a magical way for people to control things using their unconscious minds. Luke sets
out on a journey into space to rescue the princess and join the Rebellion in the war effort. Luke and
Obi Wan meet Han solo, a pilot, and ask him to take them into space. They plan to go to Alderaan,
Princess Leia s home planet; however, they are unintentionally sucked into the Death Star, the
spacecraft and weapon of the Empire. They find out that Princess Leia is being held in the Death Star,
and they plan to help her escape. While Han and Luke try to help Leia, Obi Wan is fighting Darth
Vader, the evil leader of the Empire. Unfortunately, Obi Wan is killed by Darth Vader; although, Luke,
Han and Leia escape the Death Star. They go to a Rebellion headquarter and find the weak spot of the
Death Star.

Jewish Culture Essay
The culture of Israel is centered around many Jewish traditions, most notably including holidays.
Though other religions still may celebrate their respective holidays, public holidays in Israel include
notable Jewish holidays such as Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Chanukah, Purim, Passover, and
more. In addition, Shabbat is celebrated appropriately every week (particularly in Jerusalem) with
every shop closing its doors and streets bare of cars. The country provides a unique experience for
Jews, with over 46 synagogues throughout Israel.
Though many holidays and traditions are Jewish, much of the art, music, and food is similar to the rest
of the Middle East. The art in Israel often reflects the blend of cultures and history, with early

Definition Of Murder In The Old Testament
You succinctly described how the crime of murder is presented in the Bible as well as its modern
equivalent. As you noted, Cain is the first murderer in history and Abel the first victim of a violent
crime. There are numerous examples of the taking of life in the Old Testament. There are also specific
crimes that God commands require earthly punishments such as engaging in homosexuality,
blasphemy and adultery. Therefore, God makes a distinction between justified killings and immoral,
criminal acts. Taking on this Biblical Worldview, modern laws and God s Law differ in what the
definition of a crime is and its subsequent punishment. For this reason, subjects such as capital
punishment are difficult for human beings to grasp. The main reason

My Vacation Experience
The most incredible summer that I would never forget began on June 22, 2016. It was about 4:30 in
the morning when my aunt and parents woke me up so we can catch our first flight at the Richmond
International Airport. This was my first time in nine years that I could go back to China to visit my
relatives and grandparents. On this trip, I was going with my Aunt Ying and my grandmother because
my parents were too busy with work to take me. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the Richmond
International Airport, it was too late to board our flight, so we had to be rerouted to our destination.
From there, we encountered more problems. For instance, the flight to Dallas Fort Worth was too full
so they had to reroute us to the Chicago O Hare Airport. When we arrived in Chicago, we luckily had
just enough time to catch our flight to Beijing, which was fifteen hours! After an extensive flight, we
arrived at the Beijing Capital Airport and we realized that the aircraft we came on arrived a lot later
than it was scheduled so we had no time to get to our connecting flight. However, American Airlines
offered us FREE hotels to spend the night and told us that our new rerouted flight will be on Air
China, which would be departing the next morning. We came into the airport early the next morning
realizing that the whole place was crowded with people checking in bags and people standing in line
for security checks. After an hour or two of trying to get through security and check in, we

Human Characters In The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter
The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter is set in a small Georgia mill town in the late 1930s. The two deaf mute
characters in the novel, John Singer and Spiros Antonapoulos, do everything together. However,
Spiros becomes ill and in the wake of recovering, John realizes that Spiros will never be the same.
Spiros becomes a compulsive shoplifter and alcoholic. As Spiros life spirals downward, he becomes
insane and a public nuisance consequently, is sent away to an asylum. John Singer rents a room in
Kelly s house after he is separated from his companion. Singer becomes a sidekick to four of the town
s outsiders: Mick Kelly, an adolescent lady whose fantasy is to become an artist, Benedict Copeland,
the town s black doctor, Jake Blount, a heavy drinker and communist, and Biff Brannon, the proprietor
of the town s cafe. Each of these four people visit Singer regularly to tell him about all the troubles in
their lives. Each misfit relies on Singer to empathize with his or her loneliness. However, Singer
reveals nothing about himself to them. Be that as it may, he converses with his dear companion,
Antonapoulos, on his regular visits to the asylum. Over the year, the characters experience various
troubles and find comfort in Singer. Mick drops out of school with a goal to bolster her family after
her youthful brother, Bubber, unintentionally shoots a child named Baby. Dr. Copeland s lungs are

The Reality of Corrupt Power Hungry Men in the Film Chinatown
Roman Polanski s Hollywood film Chinatown, directed in 1974, tells the story of Jake Gittes, a private
investigator. The film focuses in on the dark reality of corruption behind power hungry men, making
this a true neo noir film. Chinatown reveals a depth narrative allowing the viewer to follow Gittes and
uncover the secrets around the water dispute in California. I chose to bring focus to the significance of
the male gaze and how this form of power can change and affect our views. The prominent female
character in the film, Evelyn Mulwray, is a wealthy white woman. With her character comes active
male attention and desire. Laura Mulvey s Theory of The Gaze supports this argument by studying the
power and influence of a patriarchal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like anything we can take this too far where the gaze becomes an obsession, particularly towards the
female turning it into a sexual gaze. Therefore the male is the viewer and holds the power, he is what
Mulvey states as being the active male while the female is then passive (1975). If the female becomes
a passive character is she then needed for the development of the story? I do not think so, if we give
her this position in the film she is not a valuable part of the narrative. The other way to view this gaze
would be with cruelty towards the female character. The man is still in a position of control but in a
victorious way. This may mean he treats her poorly. In the first scene I had mentioned earlier Evelyn is
just meeting Jake for the first time. He is in his office with his male associates, which I may point out
are all white men. Jake is telling a dirty joke about a man screwing his wife like the Chinese. When
Jake turns to see Evelyn standing behind him all along both him and his co workers stop with all
seriousness in her presence. They have changed their demeanour completely because there is a woman
in the room. This seemed to put a freeze in time as what was just happening in the office came to an
abrupt stop as she enters the room. Mulvey (1975) states in her essay, her visual presence tends to
work against the development of a story line (p. 19). This means the men are holding the story line
together with the added image

Marx and the Bourgeoisie Essay
In this essay I plan to analyze the claim by Karl Marx that the bourgeoisie class produces its own
gravediggers . I will first present a definition of the bourgeoisie and the proletariat classes along with
what Marx means by his claim. After discussing Marx s claim and his support I will assert that his
claim is false and was based on a false assumption. I will argue that Marx does not allow the
possibility of an adaptation on behalf of the bourgeoisie. Furthermore, that Marx contradicts his claim
with his own ideologies from his critique of capitalism. Finally, Marx adopts historical determinism to
support his view which has proven to be flawed. The claim that the bourgeoisie produces its own
gravediggers is based on circumstantial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see, therefore, how the modern bourgeoisie is itself the product of a long course of development,
of a series of revolutions in the modes of production and of exchange. (Marx, 424). In this sense, the
bourgeoisie have the ability to change since they themselves are products of revolutions. In other
terms, the bourgeoisie are an always changing class that has found ways to stay in power through
political hegemony over the proletariat class. Marx conjures the proper preconditions for a successful
rebellion but again contradicts himself through his own ideologies. Although Marx believes that
capitalism will be responsible for the proletariat rebellion it is the same system that will estrange man
from each other and thus prevent a successful revolt.
Marx asserts certain preconditions that must exist in order for a rebellion to take place. Marx believes
that capitalism provides these preconditions and therefore a revolt by the proletariat class is inevitable.
As discussed in Professor Kathryn Walker s lecture, Marx describes four preconditions for a
successful social rebellion, A mass of people for rebellion, a problem to rebel against, a common
experience and identification of the problem. (Walker, 2005). Marx is correct in identifying the
necessary preconditions yet does not take into consideration that just because the conditions are set
does not mean a rebellion is inevitable. Marx displays how

Tsar Nicholas Ii
Nicholas II abdicated the throne in 1917 up until then, the Russian Royal family had ruled for over
three hundred years. Throughout this period, they faced many problems and uneasy predicaments, a
lot of these centering on Nicholas II as Tsar. A combination of long and short term problems led to the
decline and eventual fall of the Romanov dynasty. Tsar Nicholas II ignored these issues, staying true
to his coronation vow to uphold Autocracy, and therefore played a critical role in the plummet of the
Empire.
A flaw in Tsar Nicholas II Autocratic style of ruling was his conflicting personality. He was a family

A Treatise On Courtly Love Analysis
The ideas found in Andreas Capellanus A Treatise on Courtly Love have made their mark on the
human psyche since its inception. The treatise defines love as: an inborn suffering proceeding from the
sight and immoderate thought upon the beauty of the other sex, for which cause above all other things
one wishes to embrace the other and, by common assent, in this embrace to fulfill the commandments
of love... (pg. 1). By framing love as an obsessional and insufferable experience, Capellanus renders
those in the midst of worshiping a paramour from afar helpless until their lovesickness is
consummated. Because men and women are programmed to enjoy the act of making love, the text
attempts to contain and formalize love through a systematic explanation of the private and passionate
pursuit of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francesca strategically utilizes the concept of love, as described by Capellanus, as her alibi. In her
eyes, she is absolved of blame; it was the literature which swept her into a world of love and passion
(this would be equivalent to blaming alcohol for one s actions the other night at the bar). Francesca s
subsequent telling of her placement in hell nonetheless evokes an interesting and varied interpretation.
Despite her sin, perhaps she is hinting at the fact that her brief love affair will in reality last a lifetime
since Paolo will always remain by her side in the second circle of The Inferno. Conversely, she may be
suggesting that her moment of fulfilled passion and desire was well worth the eternal consequence of
displacement and pain. At any rate, what remains true for Dante, and it is well represented in Inferno,
is that the greater one s will is to sin, the deeper into the hellish abyss they fall. While anoesis is the
least willful of sins, it is nevertheless a choice that caused the lustful to be damned for all

example for the children. It would affect both the Cookie Monster and the children. If we were to turn
the Cookie Monster into a vegetarian, there would be some good effects but also some bad effects as
well.
The very first good effect he would have is, he will lose weight. Because one of the most obvious
reason he is overweight is from eating too much cookies. Because of eating excessive cookies, he
always seems hyper and always wants to eat more. Since he only loves cookies, every time he wants
to eat, he would only eat cookies. Since cookies have a lot of sugar in them, he is less likely to be

  • 2. There Will Come Soft Rains And Meeting At Night Poems are usually based on life experiences have a common thread connecting them together. The poems There Will Come Soft Rains by Sara Teasdale and Meeting at Night by Robert Browning both share connections. These poems are both about nature; however, they are also connected through personification, tone, alliteration. Alliteration is one of the most significant ways they are connected. Alliteration can be described as the repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of words. The speaker of the poem There Will Come Soft Rains begins by saying, There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground / And swallows circling with their shimmering sound, (Teasdale 1 2). As well as when the speaker of Meeting At Night starts off the poem by explaining, The gray sea and the long black land / And the yellow half moon large and low, (Browning 1 2). The two poems both share the evident use of alliteration. The speaker of There Will Come Soft Rains uses the consonant sound of the letter s to start many of the words in the first two lines. Likewise, in Meeting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In There Will Come Soft Rains the speaker states And swallows circling with / Their shimmering sound, (Teasdale 3 4). In the same way in Meeting at Night the speaker states, Then a mile of warm scented beach, (Browning 7). These two poems both explain nature as something beautiful and nice. The speaker of There Will Come Soft Rains explains the sound of the swallows as shimmering which usually has a good connotative meaning which makes the reader think of bright, happy, pretty things. As well as in Meeting at Night the speaker describes the beach as warm scented which the reader will think of good, warm comforting things. Because both of these poems use words to describe nature as nice and beautiful, the tone of these poems is similar. It explains the depth of colonialism within Kenya s context and analyses the impact of colonial conquest, the imposition of international and local administrative boundaries. It also examined further the lasting consequences of colonial economic and social policies concerning colonialism in Kenya. This essay gives more explanation that has to do with British colonialism in Kenya. Colonialism developed from imperialism, which can be referred to as the highest stage of capitalism. Capitalism, imperialism and colonialism share ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Internally African, Indian and European settler interests were also at variance. More often than not European settlers had the ear of pro settler governors. Moreover, in the interest of capital these policies were anchored on partial dissolution and restructuring of pre colonial structures. It was also in the interest of capital to place the market under the colonial state s control. This was done with greater enthusiasm during the post Second World War period more popularly known as the second colonial occupation. Colonial commodity production, because of inappropriate practice, led to widespread environmental degradation. Forest concessions, which were granted to individuals and companies led to massive deforestation. Colonial enterprises destroyed local industries. Generally the colonial economic policies in Kenya were instrumental in incorporating the pre capitalist communities into the colonial and international economic systems. This persisted into the post colonial period. Similarly, Christian missionary activities destroyed African culture through the gospels of salvation, obedience and work. Through Western education, which they dominated despite the colonial state s role, Christian missions preached against African cultures. They were emphatic that the Africans salvation must be gauged on the extent to which traditional cultural practices were abandoned. • 4. How Did The Second Industrial Revolution Change American... In post Civil War America, the Second Industrial Revolution changed society in all aspects. Technological innovation, particularly, allowed for aggressive westward expansion and the creation of the American millionaire encouraged American settlers further. Expansionism was merciless, destroying local environments and causing sporadic negotiation with the Amerian Indian groups that were the first to experience the negative effects of industrialization. A combination of government corruption, changing policies, and aggressive expansionism led to conflicts between white settlers and American Indian groups. American Indian policy in the US had been ever changing but as westward expansion began the reservation system, rather than cohabitation, was the most popular method for the theoretical protection of native groups. Disregarding the shortcomings of the reservation system, American Indians could live and practice their beliefs as they always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It did, however, further exacerbate already existing issues. The flawed reservation system did more than frustrate American Indians; many died from lack of resources that were promised to them. The treaties that allowed whites to take native homelands often assured that on reservations, American Indians would be provided with resources and money. The reality, however, was that federal agents tasked with overseeing reservations often pocketed the funds and didn t care to ensure other resources were provided. As a result, many American Indian groups were forced to leave the reservations or face starvation, but the damage wrought by expansionism often meant depleted resources even off reserved land. The conditions on reservations and aggressive expansionism encouraged the Ghost Dance movement, which was a spiritual practice that sought to resurrect bison populations and push whites back to ... The number of pregnant women who received prenatal care has increased over the past 75 years (Zolotor and Carlough, 2014). Today, medical providers deliver more integrated services, which includes evidence based screening, counseling, medical care, and psychosocial support. In the past, in the United States the majority of women delivered at home with no anesthetics; women might have received assistance through a family doctor, including midwife care (Thomas, 2011). A radical change happened by the 1960s, when hospital childbirths had become the norm, the pain of the experience was reduced by epidural anesthesia controlled by a physician. Pregnant women received education on breastfeeding and other topics during their medical visits (Thomas, 2011). Prenatal care policies were implemented to reduce infant mortality rates and poor birth outcomes. Over the past several years commissioners recommended improving access to prenatal care. In 1980 congress initiated the expansion of Medicaid eligibility for pregnant women for the purpose of improving prenatal care (Schlesinger and Kronebusch, 1990.) Some states integrated the Aid to Families programs with Dependent Children care (AFDC) to assist women who live at the poverty level and do not qualify for Medicaid until they become pregnant. Banquet At Dunsinane Banquet at Dunsinane In Macbeth the scene of the banquet at Dunsinane shows the guilt of Macbeth, reveals to us the extent of his madness and marks the suspicion of the Scottish lords. Macbeth shows the audience the extent of his insanity, rouses suspicion from the Scottish lords and contributes to the overarching theme of guilt. Macbeth s constant shouting at the apparition shows how far gone he is. It marks his lack of self control in the face of his guilt, his fear of being discovered and refusal to come to terms with what he has done. Likewise the lords see this outburst and are clued into Macbeth s usurping of power by his blaming of others, he makes himself suspicious and tells them of his murdering Banquo. • 11. An Analysis of Moulin Rouge Moulin Rouge(2001) is an Oscar winning master piece from director Baz Luhrmann. It followed the success and recognition of Romeo + Juliet (1996) and Strictly Ballroom (1992). All three films were recognized for Luhrmann s characteristic style. His films feature stylistic choices such as blue and red lighting, the use of rapid cuts and vibrant, period accurate costume. To analyze Luhrmann s use of the four elements of the stylistic system, I will consider two specific scenes from the film, namely El Tango De Roxanne and the first meeting between the Duke, Christian and Satine. Although they both feature singing and dancing, the mood evoked by each contrasts completely. Every film uses the stylistic system to structure a narrative that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To follow the dialogue, Luhrmann crosses the axis of action. Bordwell and Thompson define the axis of action as; the imaginary line that passes from side to side through the main actors, defining all the spatial relations of all the elements of the scene as being to the right or left. The camera is not supposed to cross the axis at a cut and thus reverse those spatial relations. (2008, pg 477). Luhrmann manages to cross the axis of action by moving his camera around the outside of the group of characters. This way, the audience doesn t get disorientated by a constant changing of character positions but also enables them to see all the characters in relation to one another and their reactions to the dialogue. When the music begins and the characters are doing choreographed dance steps, the takes become longer and the shot scale is long to medium. This is done specifically so that the audience can take in all the action and spectacle in each shot. Luhrmann also makes use of quick camera movements; such as the whip pan (quick rotation on the horizontal axis) when moving from character to character during the song which once again enforces how busy the scene is. The entire scene takes place in the elephant outside the Moulin Rouge which is Satine s private boudoir and the place that she entertains all her male guests. • 12. Effects Of Immigrants In The 1920s Fear and greed pump through the veins of our sweet American people causing a boundary between the truth and the presumption of immigrants. Immigrants have always been the friendly strangers who ve come to enjoy America s freedom with ambitious mindsets. However, as soon as the immigrants started affecting the future of true Americans, these friendly strangers instantly were seen as evil intruders. The rumors spread of the evil doings of immigrants, which lead to the presumption that immigrants only had wrong intentions when migrating to our country. Many Americans sought to find a reason to kick the immigrants out of their country because the immigrants migrating had no benefits to them. The presumption of immigrants consisted of the facts that they took jobs from others or were threats to the well being of America. In order to protect American citizens from these alleged wrongdoings, the government chose to limit the amount of immigrants through acts, such as the National Origins Act and the Emergency Quota Act. Furthermore, the government used the ideas rooted from fear and greed of the surrounding citizens to inspire this idea of setting up limitations, which led to to the abhorrent treatment of immigrants in the 1920 s. This is largely dependent on the documentation required by the agency or facility and all the other parties involved. However, regardless of its format, Fritscher (2011) states that the treatment plan should always be subject to change as the case progresses. According to Vrouvas (2013), a treatment plans can work as a mean of providing clients with guidelines that may foster moral support, provide incentive and offer practical solutions for dealing with adversity. However, since Brittany s treatment plan was developed in consultation with her, the level of resistance should be minimal. Therefore, through formal and informal discussion, the client will be notified of the finalized treatment plan and specific focus will be placed on the objectives of the plan. It would also be acceptable to present a written copy of the treatment plan to the client. In any case, a copy of the treatment plan should always be available upon the client s request. Conclusion Conclusively, Brittany s treatment plan will form an agreement between her and the agency and may be modified periodically to accommodate the needs of the client. This could prove to be quite empowering for the client. Therefore, the problem or issues should be clearly identified and the determined objectives should be both measurable and realistic. In addition, all four parts of the treatment plan should be jointly related and should therefore reduce all confusions, misunderstandings and misinterpretations. This is necessary, especial as it relates to the client. Undoubtedly, when the client and the individuals responsible for facilitating the treatment plan work together cooperatively, it increases the likelihood of a successful process. References ... The main risk in this investment would be the ability to afford the cost of a probe. With the wheat market deteriorating the possibility going into the hole on this investment increases drastically. Damage to the probe is also a possibility, and a additional expense that could make the probe less profitable. But in this case the benefits seem to outweigh the risks making this investment one to consider to better serve the customer. After some research was done on the automatic truck probe the focus was shifted to the addition of a new receiving pit and leg. Pitcock Supply Inc. was contacted by the intern for a quote and they sent out an agent to take measurements for the location and get all the specifics. Social Darwinism was a term formed in the late 19th century to describe the idea that humans, like plants and animals, compete in a struggle for existence. The book talks about Darwin s theory of evolution by natural selection and survival of the fittest. In the 1860 s, the railroad industry was entering a period of great expansion, so he shifted his attention to make railroad transportation more efficient. Vanderbilt s goal was to control the steel industry. He bought out competitors and suppliers, giving him total power to set the cost of his product to what he wanted. Vanderbilt used the idea of Social Darwinism when he transferred from working the shipping to railroad business. He knew that if he kept his shipping business, it wouldn t be as profitable later on. That s why he invested his money, focus, and time into building a successful railroad industry. At a young age, John D. He eventually controlled 90 percent of the refining business. With his large profits, he drove his competitors out of business by selling the oil cheaper than what it cost to produce the oil. After taking total control, he raised the price of oil to make his money back. In 1873, Andrew Carnegie entered the steel business and by 1899, the Carnegie Steel Company manufactured more steel than all the factories in Great Britain. Saltwater intrusion has been one the main contaminant that continues to endanger the Biscayne aquifer. It has occurred as a result of the followings: the over pumping by wells, the construction of drainage canals, and the lowering of the water table by drought. Differences Between The Medieval Catholic Church And Pietism The Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism are both rooted in the common ideology that God desires relationship and salvation for all. However, the two differ greatly in missiology, theology and daily practicality. There are major points of divergence between the Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism from which modern day Protestantism developed. Mission theology links systematic theology with practical theology. It outlines and interprets mission systematically and practically from the perspective of God s mission, Christ s mission, the mission of the Holy Spirit and the mission of the Church. The true test of The Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism regardless of the merging of missiology or the divergence of missiology is determined by how well each one meets the challenge of the triune God s mandated definition of mission. Ultimately, one must adhere to the Great Commission found in Matthew Chapter 28, verses 16 20. in order to accomplish a God centered missiology. Tradition Pietism viewed Scripture as the governing authority of one s life. However, the Medieval Catholic Church embraced Scripture and traditions as authoritative. In fact, Catholicism placed equal emphasis on Scripture and tradition. • 25. Rhetorical Analysis Of Star Wars Star Wars Rhetorical Analysis On May 25, 1977, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was released. George Lucas created the science fiction series using Joseph Campbell s hero s journey plot structure. Campbell created the plot structure by expanding on psychologist Carl Jung s idea of the archetype. Archetypes are reoccurring symbols that can be found in literature, music, and art. Lucas found that Campbell s Hero s Journey was the perfect structure for the plot of Star Wars. The Hero s Journey consists of ten steps which the protagonist, usually the hero, has to complete. Throughout the movie, George Lucas perfectly orchestrated all ten steps of the Hero s Journey, and also used dozens of the archetypes that Campbell created. Episode IV was set during a time of war between the Rebellion, the good side, and the Empire, which is considered the evil side. The science fiction story is about a young man, Luke Skywalker, who travels into space to fight against the Empire. Luke is from the planet Tatooine, a desert, where he farms water with his uncle. Luke s uncle buys two droids, R2D2 and C3PO, who happen to have been involved in the war and worked for the rebellion. Luke discovers a recording in one of the droids of Princess Leia saying she needed help, and that sparks the beginning of his journey. I chose to bring focus to the significance of the male gaze and how this form of power can change and affect our views. If the female becomes a passive character is she then needed for the development of the story? I do not think so, if we give her this position in the film she is not a valuable part of the narrative. The other way to view this gaze would be with cruelty towards the female character. The man is still in a position of control but in a victorious way. This may mean he treats her poorly. In the first scene I had mentioned earlier Evelyn is just meeting Jake for the first time. He is in his office with his male associates, which I may point out are all white men. I will first present a definition of the bourgeoisie and the proletariat classes along with what Marx means by his claim. After discussing Marx s claim and his support I will assert that his claim is false and was based on a false assumption. I will argue that Marx does not allow the possibility of an adaptation on behalf of the bourgeoisie. Furthermore, that Marx contradicts his claim with his own ideologies from his critique of capitalism. Finally, Marx adopts historical determinism to support his view which has proven to be flawed. The claim that the bourgeoisie produces its own gravediggers is based on circumstantial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We see, therefore, how the modern bourgeoisie is itself the product of a long course of development, of a series of revolutions in the modes of production and of exchange. (Marx, 424). In this sense, the bourgeoisie have the ability to change since they themselves are products of revolutions. In other terms, the bourgeoisie are an always changing class that has found ways to stay in power through political hegemony over the proletariat class. Marx conjures the proper preconditions for a successful rebellion but again contradicts himself through his own ideologies. Although Marx believes that capitalism will be responsible for the proletariat rebellion it is the same system that will estrange man from each other and thus prevent a successful revolt. Marx asserts certain preconditions that must exist in order for a rebellion to take place. Marx believes that capitalism provides these preconditions and therefore a revolt by the proletariat class is inevitable. As discussed in Professor Kathryn Walker s lecture, Marx describes four preconditions for a successful social rebellion, A mass of people for rebellion, a problem to rebel against, a common experience and identification of the problem. (Walker, 2005). Marx is correct in identifying the necessary preconditions yet does not take into consideration that just because the conditions are set does not mean a rebellion is inevitable. The treatise defines love as: an inborn suffering proceeding from the sight and immoderate thought upon the beauty of the other sex, for which cause above all other things one wishes to embrace the other and, by common assent, in this embrace to fulfill the commandments of love... (pg. 1). By framing love as an obsessional and insufferable experience, Capellanus renders those in the midst of worshiping a paramour from afar helpless until their lovesickness is consummated. Because men and women are programmed to enjoy the act of making love, the text attempts to contain and formalize love through a systematic explanation of the private and passionate pursuit of a ... At any rate, what remains true for Dante, and it is well represented in Inferno, is that the greater one s will is to sin, the deeper into the hellish abyss they fall. While anoesis is the least willful of sins, it is nevertheless a choice that caused the lustful to be damned for all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
