Mercutio s Mask
Mercutio s mask embraces many symbols that represent his personality through out the play. The
four key characteristics that symbolize Mercutio are bravery, joyfulness, straightforward and last
but not least a good friend. The first characteristic that exemplifies Mercutio is his bravery and this
is represented on the mask with a chessboard. In Act 3, Scene 1, Mercutiosays, O calm
dishonorable, vile submission! Alla staccato carries it away. (Draws his sword) Tybalt, you rat
catcher, will you walk? (3.1.45) Here Mercutio shows bravery when he takes the challenge of
fighting Tybalt away from Romeo even though Mercutio knows that he could die while he is
fighting. There is an endless dispute between the Montague s and the Capulet Families.

Essay on An Annotation of Wallace Stevens Of Modern Poetry
An Annotation of Wallace Stevens Of Modern Poetry
In Of Modern Poetry, Stevens describes the purpose of modern poetry given what the audience
knows and values. Modern poetry must be different from traditional poetry, because people of his
time perceive themselves and their world differently than the people of earlier times. Stevens
suggests that war, like other changes, have affected what people believe. Poetry must reflect to its
audience what they want to hear. It must show them that the order, meaning and value they need is
real, in so much as their minds both need it and can create it.

Stevens first points out how modern poetry differs from traditional poetry. The implication is that
people are now questioning some fundamental aspects of intellectual constructs that used to be
considered necessary and true. In particular Stevens questions tradition of reading the book of
nature, of starting with religious presumptions and assuming nature communicates these ideas to
humans. Other traditions had changed as well thoughts about the social roles of men and women
and social propriety; thoughts about religious values and scientific discovery; nature and purpose of
communication resulting from new inventions. These changes sometimes reflected, sometimes
caused the development of new values. The rest of the poem records the change that occurs after
traditional assumptions are uprooted.
The past was a souvenir because once people realized that certain traditions could be changed,
they had no reason to believe those traditions had to be the standard. Like a souvenir, the scene
and the script became only a reminder of where people had been, it has no practical use for the
present. Once people conceived of a new stage, a new script, a new way of thinking, it had to be
experimented with. They valued experimentation, because they did not have a required standard.

Their indecisive commitment kept them in between the two sides as they would patiently wait,
aloof from the conflict, until they were either liberated by the Americans or absolutely certain that
the British would retain effective control of Nova Scotia. (qtd in Bennett pg 135) Neutrality had
many benefits including increased trade with the British forces for the Halifax merchants, as
Bennett states Material incentive and the prospect of war profits secured the vocal support and
loyalty of some Nova Scotians . (qtd in Bennett 142). Most people were heavily reliant on the
British Navy for protection and continued to supply British troops for their own benefits. (Bennett
142) Also, Halifax was the center of a large British naval and military base. As Wilms states the
strong military presence made it virtually impossible for any sort of active revolution. (qtd in
Wilms) Although their influence did not stretch across all of the settlements the base provided
simple trade and protection from warfare. This influenced many to stay neutral even if their
fundamental beliefs had most likely lied with the rebels. (Bennett 139)
Overall, based on multiple influences Nova Scotia decided to reside in the American Revolution
and stay neutral. Their lack of influence on the war was largely determined by spiritual revival,
economic salvation and independent ideology. In our modern society most citizens would go to
extraordinary lengths to protect loved ones, which is very similar to the Scotians. Some going
against basic beliefs they ultimately chose to benefit themselves. Although not taking the risk may

Zero Day Exploit
On the 26th of April 2014 a zero day vulnerability in Internet Explorer (IE) was discovered by
security vendor FireEye . The exploit targeted defense and financial services companies using
IE9 through IE11 and was found on a very popular U.S. website. The malicious code was
removed from the website as soon as the host was notified, however in Microsoft advisory
#2963983 released the same day FireEye announced the exploit discovery, Microsoft provided
limited guidance and did not state when it would release a fix. Historically patches have occurred
either before or on the day regular security updates were released on a monthly cycle (typically the
second Tuesday of each month).
Until a patch was released, user s options ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior to the patch, the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US CERT) advised
companies to use an alternative browser until a fix was available, however for many companies
that was not an option since business applications often depended on IE. The attackers discovered
by FireEye took advantage of the fact that most people use PCs in administrator mode, which
gave full access to the system. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could gain
the same user rights as the current user. Once breaking into the system of such a user, the hackers
proceeded to move within the PC or network looking for ways to escalate the privileges and gain
access to more data and/or systems.
Both the Microsoft advisory and security update stated the best practice would be that companies
should only provide administrative access to people who have a need for it in doing their job.
Some experts recommend segmenting the corporate network to confine people to specific areas,
which would also contain the mischief of hackers. Any organization that has properly segmented
their network will be at low risk to sensitive data being accessed as a result of a breach related to
this attack, Brandon Hoffman, vice president of cybersecurity at RedSeal Networks has stated.
Other experts say that employees often find ways around these restrictions, which would then
provide means that cybercriminals could exploit. Ross Barrett, senior manager of Rapid7 stated, You

The Birth Weight Of A Newborn
From the moment a newborn is birthed into the world they begin their physical development at a
larger rate than any other period of their life. The first year of life is full of rapid physical growth
in all aspects such as weight, height, limb lengths and even the physical growth of internal
organs. On average, the birth weight of a newborn will double by the time they reach six months
old and triple at the end of their first year of life. While weight is steadily increasing there is also
an expansion of the babies head and chest as internal organs such as the brain, heart, and lungs
develop as well. (Infancy, 2016)
On average the head of a newborn makes up about 25% of their total length, which is the height.
This can easily be seen by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The size of the brain increases due to the maturation of the brain which includes the forming of
connections of neurons and increased cognitive development. (Lumen Learning, 2014)
2: Early Childhood
Early childhood also produces physical changes but not to the degree to which infancy does.
There are large increases in height, about 3 inches each year, and also gain weight, about 4 to 5
pounds each year. While it is important to recognize that there will be increases in weight gain,
during this stage it is very important for the physical development of the child to take special care
in their eating habits. (Lumen Learning, 2014)
Early childhood is a very active time for children. Children can be seen, for the most part,
constantly in motion whether it is jumping, running, or simply being unable to stand still. While
children are taking part in these activities they are strengthening their gross motor skills. Most of
the physical activity a child takes place in during this time with not be of a high skill level, such as
a particular sport.
Middle Childhood:
The growth rates of middle childhood are generally slower than that of infancy and early
childhood. On average a child will gain about 5 7 pounds and grow about 2 inches per year.
During this time a child will also start to experience increased muscle strength and even an
increase in lung capacity. Because of these things it is possible to children in this stage of
development to engage in more

Support Childrens and Young Peoples Health and Safety
Unit D6011696: Support Children and Young People s Health and Safety. . Learning Outcome 1:
Understand how to plan and provide environments and services that support children and young
people s health and safety. 1.1 In order to ensure a safe and healthy environment and services for
children/young people there are some factors which need to be taken into account. These include
any equipment which they will be in contact with, such as electrical equipment, anything which
may pose a fire risk, any damaged furniture or fixtures which they may come into contact with. If
there are any cables or anything they may trip over as well as any spillages or anything they may

Any area which will have children/young people playing in should be assessed before any child
/young person goes into the area to make sure there is nothing harmful for example any broken
equipment. Any issues which are found which may be a risk to health and safety need to be
logged and discussed with other members or staff so that everyone is aware of any risks.
Having a set guideline of what happens if equipment is broken or damaged, is a good idea so
that staff know how to manage the situation and eliminate any future risk. 2.2 In dealing with an
accident or hazard for example if a child was to trip and fall in the playground, there are set
instructions to follow to ensure the incident is dealt with appropriately. This would involve
taking the child to a registered first aider within the building to allow the child to receive
treatment on any injury they may have received. An accident for needs to be filled out so that
the accident has been recorded, this then needs to be logged and reported to a senior member or
staff. As well as this the incident will need to be reported to and explain to the parents. An extra
measure would be to carry out an assessment of the playground to make sure there are no hazards
which may have caused the accident such as stones or glass for a child to trip over or no broken
equipment or uneven surfaces which may cause futures problems. 2.3 When undertaking a health

Ishiguro Allusion
An analysis on how Ishiguro alludes to underlying circumstances at Hailsham in Never Let Me
Go For a significant part of the novel Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, the real function of
Hailsham remains a mystery. However, Ishiguro does leave clues into solving this mystery. He
does this by providing both an immediate and gradual realization that something is not quite right.
This realization is conveyed through the use of choice words and unusual environments. Ishiguro
provides few details, and the ones he does provide lack any real meaning. This promotes reading
in between the lines and forming personal conclusions. But with a keen eye, it is possible analyze
specific details left by Ishiguro that help allude to Hailsham s real purpose.... Show more content on

An impeccable example of how reading in between the lines is key appears when Kathy tells us
about how one of her donors wanted to hear about Hailsham. In this section, Kathy makes the
realization that her donor did not necessarily want to just hear about Hailsham, but rather he
wanted to remember Hailsham. Kathy felt that her donor wanted to feel as if he had lived
through Hailsham, himself. This section makes the reader ask themselves why would Kathy s
donor want to remember Hailsham. By reading in between the lines of this section we can
gather that Hailsham was probably better than wherever Kathy s donor was to prior of being in
her care. Maybe Kathy s donor had a poor and unfulfilling life. Maybe he feels that because Kathy
is from Hailsham, she would have had a good life. From reading in between the lines we can gather
that Kathy s donor had an awful life and wanted to feel as if he had been a part of Hailsham. This
connection is important because it helps the reader determine that Hailsham was special without
being told that directly. Additionally, this section further complicates the mystery around Hailsham.
Ishiguro achieves this by making the reader ask questions similar to what makes Hailsham so
special anyway? . Maybe this donor was mistreated, abused, or even just outright neglected. and that
does not happen at Hailsham. Something

Why is it Beneficial to Legalize Marijuana
Legalize Marijuana Marijuana is a drug that is spreading all around the world and is now proven
to be the most beneficial drug out there. More than 25 million Americans annually use it each
year. If the country legalized it then everyone would have more jobs available to go around such
as harvesters, dispensary clerks, distributors, or croppers. Thus, the unemployment rate is
lowered and America could make more money if they taxed it (Jack). Not only could they tax it
but also save more money because they would not have to lock up those people getting arrested
every year. That way America could lower the country s debt and then there is a lot less people in
prisons. It would save the country billions of dollars each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some of those people could start businesses doing that and then more people are hired
throughout everywhere. Much of the country will want to trade and the businesses that grow
marijuana will be able to distribute and trade it. Other foreign countries would want to trade
with us which just adds up to more of our revenue and as a result lowers the country s debt.
Marijuana industries would be just the same as alcohol and tobacco industries because they are
also very popular. Industries would have the same jobs and America could market it
everywhere. People could also go to college with whatever they want to major in for the
marijuana industry. Colleges could of course give out degrees and then there is more people
going out of college with jobs instead of the 25 percent of people that go live with their parents
after just graduating from college. College graduates could get business degrees or go into
professions for farming marijuana. WeGrow is a company that specializes in hydroponic
supplies everything you need to grow legal weed, their stores have it. Each franchise creates
about 75 legitimate jobs, ones that likely would have remained in the shadows, profitable only to
shady dealers, had old laws remained on the books. Farmers could also help make marijuana a lot
safer to grow by professionally knowing how to grow it. Also farmers would grow in a healthy
environment and would save tons of wasted electricity and water. Each

How Technology Has Brought Internet

The Issues Of Canada s Telecommunications Industry
On many occasions, Canada s telecommunications industry has been criticized for being
inefficiently competitive. Claims have been made by the critics of Canada s wireless sector that
there needs to be additional regulation to create more competition, lower prices and improve
service quality. In doing so, the Canadian federal governmenthas used these criticisms to their
advantage in order to justify interventionist spectrum allocation policies and advocate for additional
regulation of the wirelesssector (Masse Beaudry, May 2014). In the fall of 2013, the government
even took the unusual step of launching a $9 million ad campaign aimed at publicizing its efforts to
support greater competition in the wireless sector and to convince the public of the need to
intervene (National Post, December 3, 2013). The telecommunications industry has conducted
many lobbying efforts against government intervention and tried to manage public perception
around this controversial issue. Furthermore, this essay discusses that the federal government is not
acting in the public interest. The government is displaying a positive as opposed to normative
stance. The government should allow the market to determine services and the telecommunications
industry to control resources. If intervention should take place, it should be done with public
interest in mind and not with fabricated policies which harm, instead of help, consumers and the
telecommunications industry.

Carlo Scarpa s Approach And Theory
INTRODUCTION AND BUILDING HISTORY
Carlo Scarpa s approach and theory to designing with existing buildings is an innovation that is
relevant to buildings even today. The Castelvecchio museum is one of his greatest projects, and
thoroughly reveals his way of working. Scarpas intention was not only to restore an aging building
but to do so in a way that creates dialogue between the new and the old. By careful work of
demolition and preservation, he literally cuts, shifts and adds elements to the existing building in
order to create an exhibition of the building s past, and its connection to modernity.
In order for him to make informed decisions about what to preserve and what to demolish, he had
to have a thorough understanding of the building s political history. The Castelvecchio dates back
as far as the 12th century, and has undergone four eras of development in its lifetime. The commune
wall is the oldest element in the building and was the second of three large fortifications in Verona
(Fig 1.1). In 1354, the Castelvecchio was built by the Scaligeri family, the Lords of Verona, and
was built for their own defense against the citizens for times of revolt. It was built either side of the
commune wall, and consisted of a three story residence or Reggia around an inner court and an
outer military zone (Fig 1.2). The Castelvecchio continued this military function until 1797, where
Napoleon and his troops claimed residence during his invasion over the Venetian Republic. This

How Do Early Theories Explain How Children Develop Their...
Hi Tom, there are many theories that try to explain that how children develop their language
skills. From my perspective, I believe that early theories have provided a good understanding of
children and their progress. In early theories, the environment was said to greatly influence a child
s learning and also played a major role in child languagedevelopments. According to Skinner,
children learn language based on behaviorist reinforcement principles by associating words with
meanings. Correct utterances are positively reinforced when the child realizes the communicative
value of words and phrases. For example, when the child says milk and the mother will smile and
give her some as a result, the child will find this outcome rewarding, enhancing the child s language
development (1).
I think that early theories are a perfect way to explain how a child develops their language skills.
However, Noam Chomsky has heavily criticized early child development theories. Chomsky has
proposed that the theory of Universal Grammar can improve our understanding of childhood
development. According to Chomsky, Universal Grammar is an idea of innate, biological
grammatical categories, such as a noun category and a verb category that facilitate the entire
language development in children and overall language processing in adults. Universal Grammar is
considered to contain all the grammatical information needed to combine these categories, e.g. noun
and verb, into phrases. The child s

Essay On Ambulatory Health Care
For this week discussion, I have selected the topic Ambulatory Health Care from 2016 National
Patient Safety Goals. Ambulatory Healthcare is an outpatient medical care such as regular check
ups, observation, diagnosis, treatment and follows ups.Proper Ambulatory health can prevent
recurrent hospital admissions as many medical treatments for acute and chronic health illness can
be done in ambulatory health care. Some minor surgical and preventive ways of many diseases and
other services can be done in ambulatory health care. In ambulatory care patient not only can get
the advantage of high quality service in their convenient location but also with low treatment cost.
Ambulatory Health National 2016 has many goals, and one of the focused goals is to improve
patient safety by doing proper use of identification and medicinein outpatient care.
The research article I have chosen is Adverse Drug Events in Ambulatory care by Tejal k.Gandhi.
This article mainly focuses on adverse side effect caused by medicine error in community based
outpatient center and hospital. According to meta analysis data recorded on 1994, hospitalization of
the patient because of drug reaction was 1 million. In outpatient care, patients take their own
medicine so that the chances to have adverse drug effect are ... Show more content on

The Buddha Of Suburbia By Hanif Kureishi
For many people, the word punk brings to mind similar images of grungy looking teenagers who
are wearing dark, ripped clothing held together with safety pins and chains which displays some
sort of offensive symbol or saying. They are probably also wearing a leather jacket and Doc
Martens, sporting an unconventional hairstyle such as a brightly colored Mohawk or spikes,
and listening to loud music. For the most part, the images people think of as associated with the
word punk are a pretty accurate representation of how people who were part of the punk
movement looked. Though most people can describe what punks are supposed to look like, most
cannot explain the purpose of the anti fashion trend that most punks followed. Throughout Hanif
Kureishi s novel, The Buddha of Suburbia, there is a focus on the emergence of the punk scene
in London during the 1970s. The first obvious encounter we have with punk in the novel appears
on page 129, when Karim and Charlie go to the Nashville and see their first punk band. The
Nashville is a popular venue where many punk bands got their start, and a lot of famous bands,
such as the Sex Pistols, performed. Karim describes the scene that they come upon with a great
detailed description of the outlandish appearances of both the audience and the band members. He
also describes the unusual way they are acting, the aggressive way they are dancing and the abuse
between the band and audience. Though his attention is mainly on the emergence of the

An Analysis of Ronald Dworkin and Catherine Mackinnon s
Perspectives on Modern (Obscene) Pornography
March 7, 2005
Introduction In the coming paragraphs, I will prove that Ronald Dworkin s criticisms and critiques
of Catherine Mackinnon s views towards pornography and society are largely unfounded and
immaterial, and that government intervention via legislation is required in the protection of women
s interests. I will begin by explaining Catherine Mackinnon s opinion and support for the Butler
decision and thereafter, I will discuss Ronald Dworkin s critique of it. After outlining their
positions, I will proceed to highlight the areas of incommensurability between their arguments. My

She comments that the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms provides not only formative but
substantial protection from inequalities. Unlike the U.S., Mackinnon comments that the Canadian
system seeks to alter the poor treatment of disadvantaged groups and amend their status.[6] The
Court utilized this approach in the case of R v. Butler where it recognized that the humiliation,
degradation, and subordination of women was harm to society as a whole as it led to an
inequality.[7] In other words, the court recognized the social and communal harm imposed by
pornography, that is to say it recognized the context under which the pornography occurred.
Recognizing not only the harm from pornography but more importantly the inequality that it
perpetuates, the Canadian courts ruled in an opposite manner to their U.S counterparts. At one
point, Mackinnon wonders what warrants the restriction of freedom of speech in the US. One
judge once wrote, fear of serious injury cannot alone justify the suppression of free speech . She
points out that it is this exact fear a fear of serious injury which justifies the government s
prohibition on child pornography.[8] She continues that it is the plight of the abused, which is
frequently trivialized in the United States. Those who are assaulted are told to accept the freedom
of your abusers and that you are not really being hurt .[9] But one of the most important differences

Online Privacy Protection Act
As we ve moved further into the twenty first century, our world and society has been immersed into
the digital world. With this digitization of our culture we have created a new resource, data. Data
has become king in the Age of Intelligence, it fuels most of what technology companies use to make
money. Companies like Google, Facebook, Amazon, ect. have leveraged their vast amounts of data
generated by the millions of internet users to better advertise and attract more users. Surprisingly
most of this data collection is created and aggregated unbeknownst to the users. This is where the
problems start to show themselves. When users are generating 2.5 quintillion bytes of data each
day, as estimated by IBM,(https://www 01.ibm.com/software/data/bigdata/what is big data.html),...

There are some laws that address pieces of data protection such as the Children s Online Privacy
Protection Act (COPPA) which imposes certain restrictions to websites targeted at children limiting
what they can and can t keep. Or the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA)
which tries to maintain data security standards throughout the government in the most efficient
way possible. However, most of the regulatory power for data protection comes from consumer
protection laws that have been stretched to apply to the internet. There is no strong federal laws
that define our data privacy rights. The one place where we have seen the clearest instructions
for data protection is in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) which
laid out specific standard to maintain the privacy of medical records. Currently there have been
several bills floating through congress to address some of these issues, but alas none of them
have been put into law. Currently most of the work on data protection has happened at the state
level. California has lead the way with its data protection laws. The California Online Privacy
Protection Act ensured Californians were able to easily find and see the data policies of
companies. California also notably passed one of the first security breach notification laws which
required by law for companies to report to their users if their information was accessed
improperly. Laws like these are a right step in the right direction to protect and inform citizen on
what happens with their data but are more or less bandages for the problem. Without strong federal
regulations it is hard to enforce and standardize these protections across the

The Bolsheviks
Lawyers would say that Europe, Asia, and the United States of America are completely different.
However, from the point of view of the citizens, the similarities in their daily lives are numerous,
even if some fundamental differences remain. To begin with the most obvious similarity and
example: in the USA, as well as in parts of Europe, citizens use a single currency, identical to the
currency of their neighboring States. Just as in Europe, in the USA, several decisions remain the
responsibility of the states, such as highway code, certain taxes, social welfare, minimum wages,
and certain areas of justice. At the political level, some plea for further independence of the States

It should not be unforeseen that the Bolsheviks worked hard to safeguard that any person
potentially antagonistic to them did not retain arms. The first Soviet gun controls were enacted
during the Russian Civil War, as Czarists, Western troops, and national independence movements
fought the central Red regime. Firearm registration was instituted on April 1, 1918. In October
1918, the Council of People s Commissars (the government) ordered the renunciation of all
firearms, ammunition, and sabers. As has been the case in nearly every nation where firearms
registration has been introduced, registration proved a preamble to confiscation. Excused from
the confiscation order, however, were affiliates of the Communist Party. A 1920 decree imposed
a obligatory minimum penalty of six months in prison for non Communist possession of a
firearm, even where there was no felonious intent. After the Red triumph in the Civil War, the
firearm laws were consolidated in a Criminal Code, which if broken, unauthorized possession of
a firearm would be punishable by rigid labor. A 1925 law made unauthorized possession of a
firearm punishable by three months of hard labor, plus a fine of 300 rubles (equal to about four
months wages for a highly paid construction worker). Stalin apparently found little need to
alternate the weapons control structure he had inherited. This chapter of Lethal Laws summarizes
the genocide perpetrated by Stalin from 1929 to 1953, starting with his efforts to collectivize
farming by destroying the class of property owning farmers. Altogether, about twenty million
people were murdered, worked to death in slave labor camps, or deliberately starved to death by
Stalin s government. Stalin s successful campaign of genocide against the Kulaks and against
dissident Communists served as a model for

Expanding into E Commerce
Off the Boardwalk and into the World Wide Web:
A Four Point Analysis
1) The purpose of this section if to provide a SWOT analysis for a small, local clothing store on the
New Jersey Boardwalk looking to transition into the online market place. Any boutique clothing
store like the one provided has many strengths. The company s unique style helps differentiate it
from its competitors. In addition, the company is small and flexible which enables it to employ
different talents, ranging from domestic to international, to meet their project needs (Pinker, 2002).
Of course, any such company has its weaknesses. The company is a local clothing store which
means it is dependent on its manufacturers and variations in material and labor costs of third parties
producers. Another problem that any small clothing store faces is coming up with new innovative
ideas that fit to mass customization for their customers (Alexander, et al., 2003). Any small, local
company looking to expand into the online market place also has numerous opportunities. Their
business currently comes from customers walking up and down the boardwalk which has a limited
season. By expanding to the internet, they will dramatically increase the number of customers
exposed to their merchandize on a global scale. Mass production by the company will allow
customers to get what they want but dilute their individual uniqueness (Pinker, 2002). Lastly, by

of the African Slave Trade was represented by a pair of shackles and a yoke, both used to prevent
escape by captives. Next to the artifacts was a life like setting of a slave roped to a tree, forcing
one to think about brutal realities of slavery. Further in the exhibit,

accumulate. As the night approaches, soft breezes change the snow s direction from time to time.
The wind slowly gets more powerful with every gust making it evident that the storm is entering its
infant stage. Suddenly, there is a long suspenseful rumble. The cabin and barn braces for the
unblockable wall of wind that races into the buildings. The doors and shutters get buffeted
ferociously as their henges scream in agony trying to hold on. While looking through the window, a
nearby tree succumbs to the straining and splits with a loud crashing noise. The storm continues to

and gentle snow. Cautiously, everyone stumbles outside to notice that the barn withstood the storm.
The anxiety of not knowing the extent of the damage is put to rest, and everyone returns to reality
and can return to their daily lives.

The article Cockpit Controls Now Available As a Wrist Tablet and Mega Helmet written by
Rebecca Boyle describes a new full length cockpit command mechanism controlled through a
touch screen and an all seeing helmet. The innovation is a pilot commanding tablet that
supervises all the controls in the cockpit, also the helmet that creates a full angled view through
a glass screen on the helmet in front of the eyes. Boyle writes Equipped with a huge helmet and a
handy wrist attached device, future fighter pilots will have maps, surround sound, radar and
infrared vision all at their fingertips even when they re outside the cockpit. (Boyle par 1) In other
words, the author is saying that each soldier will have access and use of all command control
technology at the swipe of a finger or touch even when they re not inside of the fighter jet as long
as they have the full angled helmet and touch screen device on them. This is significant because it
makes everything so much more easier for the soldier and less dependent on movement to use the
control panel rather than touching a touch screen placed on their wrist. Also this is significant
because the helmet is giving them a full length view 360 degrees. If the United States military was
to implement this technology in every soldier pilots jet fighter than the military would have no

Casey Bat Anticlimax
Casey at the Bat is a well known poem, written by Ernest Thayer, about baseball. The plot of the
story is that the Mudville baseball team is down, 2 4, with two outs, late in the ninth. Two of the
worst batters get on base, then their best batter, Casey, steps up to bat. Ultimately, Casey strikes
out, and Mudville loses. Many people that haven t read this poem before expect a drastically
different ending. What would this kind of ending be called? The ending of this story in particular
would be called an anticlimax. An anticlimax is when a story builds up suspense, and keeps
building, until the end. The ending is kind of a let down; not what a reader would have expected.

this hostile takeover bid. New Pacific has completed the acquisition of a 100% interest in Tagish
Lake Gold Corp. and it will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of New Pacific., and will share its
main asset which comprises 982 mining claims covering a 178 square kilometer area located
approximately 80 kilometers by road south of Whitehorse, YukonTerritory, Canada.
Result and Actual Benefits Received after Acquisition
After acquiring Tagish Lake Gold Corp., New Pacific share price went up from $1.63 per share to

Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address Analysis
September, 2015 Did Lincoln s second inaugural address give proof that his religious faith is

was among the shortest in history, Lincoln spoke volumes within it. The Civil War was not an
easy one, and had an astounding amount of deaths, but despite the ups and downs, Lincoln
persisted relentlessly with the importance of seeing the war through to the end. It is within his
second inaugural speech that we can get a clear view into his psyche and understand a bit better
why he was so passionate. Towards the end, he states, Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray,
that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet if God wills that it continue until all

In class we learned about how Triton is the only major moon orbiting backwards in our solar
system. Due to the motion of the tides, Triton s orbit is spiraling in towards Neptune, so that Triton
s semi major axis is continuously decreasing. The moon Proteus semi major axis is continuously
increasing at a much smaller rate. The expansion of the disturbing function leads to the problem
that a small inner satellite can be strongly disturbed by Triton. The disturbing function is a method
of calculating perturbations to an objects elliptical orbit by calculating the acceleration caused by
the gravitational force of another body. Classical direct expansion is referred to an arbitrary plane,
not an orbital plane and through algorithms derived in Ellis and Murray. The algorithms were
changed due to the retrograde motion of Triton and based on the different numbers a new disturbing
function was created for arbitrary inclination. Testing was done with current inclinations of the
inner satellites of Neptune; however, assumptions were made due to the fact that the inclinations
are very small. The future dynamics of the Neptune Triton system may originate a possible 3:1
mean motion resonance involving Triton and Proteus (Yokoyama, Nascimento and

Free Trade Vs. Protectionism
Introduction
At first, I will establish the differences between the concepts of free trade and protectionism, the
benefits of each of the different policies and cases in which such policies are used, as well as
conflicts generated by those political decisions. Then, discuss the terms of international
competitiveness so, with both approaches, I can establish a conclusion to the question.
Free trade vs. Protectionism
General Introduction to the concepts
The free trade are the existing agreements between various countries to significantly reduce trade
barriers among participants of the agreement.
Its antithesis is the protectionism policy, used by governments to protect domestic products,
limiting the entry of foreign products causing them to be more expensive through custom duties.
What are the benefits of using those policies? (Baena, 2010)
Free trade:
Increase efficiency of production factors. Specializing in goods which can report a real comparative
advantage over other countries make that country to increase its production possibilities. Increasing
wealth and employment.
Increase and development of competition. Due to the entry of foreign competitors into the domestic
market, local companies have to become more efficient, favouring prices down and increase the
quality and performance of their products.
Greater variety and quantity of goods and services. Without the international trade certain products
would not exist or would be scarce.
Achieving economies of scale.

Analysis Of The Movie The Dark Night Rises
The Dark Night Rises July 20th 2012 held the midnight premiere of the anticipated film, The
Dark Night Rises, this night was also the premiere of an idea in my head, that I passionately
hated guns. The Aurora shooting was a massacre that carved a deep impression on my beliefs in
relation to guns and even more so, the moral people. It was after that incident that I began to see
America s ethical spine for what it really was, bent and partially broken. As the ethical backbone of
this country continues to twist and curve in uncomfortable directions, I fear the safety of the future.
A dark night did rise in that midnight hour and continues to do so with every incident and
heartbreak this country endures. Life is no longer sacred, hope is deferred and this nation is lost
searching for a solution. Guns have become somewhat of an arch nemesis to many in this country.
There is only one implication that guns reveal, and that is death. To possess, to use, to practice with
a gunis to imply that one intends to inflict bodily harm on another and although in some cases this
intention may be good, in most, it is not. Even in the hands of those who assume the duty to

The Flight Path From Singapore
3.2 The Haversine formula
The haversine formula is an important equation in navigation, calculating the haversine of the
central angle between two points on a great circle of a sphere using the latitudes and the longitudes
of the two points: sin2 (d2r) = sin2 ( О¦2 О¦12) + cos (О¦1) cos (О¦2) sin2 ( О»2 О»12)
where О¦1 and О¦2 denote the latitudes of Singapore and Chicago respectively, and О»1 and О»2
denote the longitudes of Singapore and Chicago respectively. We can rearrange the haversine
formula to give us the distance d between the two cities.
3.3 The Haversine function
In order to show how the haversine formula is derived, we must first understand the function of
the haversine. The term haversine appears to have originated from half a versed sine , or half a
versine . The haversine function is useful as it can calculate the distance of an arc of a great
circle. The flight path from Singapore to Chicago is, in fact, an arc of a great circle.
The versine function is one of many trigonometric functions that were once popular in fields such
as navigation, but now are practically obsolete and are no longer taught in schools. Commonly
abbreviated as versin, the versine function is versin (О±) = 1 cos (О±) where О± is the variable in
the function. However, this does not seem very useful in the derivation of the haversine formula.
We can manipulate the versine function into a more useful substitution using the half angleidentity
sin2 (12О±) = [1 cos (О±)] as sin2 (12О±)

Essay on Race, Racism and My Community
Racial issues are an important part of any city in America today. America is a racially diverse
country but still seems to have many problems as far as racial equality, race relations, and
encouraging diversity. My community is in, what I think, is a fairly unique situation in terms of
race. According to the census and other sources I found on the internet, the population of
Cedar Hill, Texas is approximately 32,093. The city is growing and very much like the other
upscale surburbs in Dallas. Cedar Hill offers satisying opportunities for both indoor and outdoor
activities and a very family orientate city, the chity has an amusement park, a skating rink, a 14

There is an Asian family that live on the coner and I just love the way the grandmother walks
every morning and plant flowers in her yard, keep it water and cared for. I have a white family
that lives directly across the street from me, that s mad a
America and he has his flag hung upside down, I ask why did he do that and he says because the
United States is upside down because of our president. I could not understand that because
I feel that we should love our country no matter what. I still speak and he still gives my family a
cake every Christmas. And I send fruit and a card. But the real problem with him is that he is very
predioucs and don t like any other race, other than white. This is what his 34 year son says . But
despite his feelings about other races he still shows that he care at Christmas time. In my
community, I feel that it is a rainbow of people. I have contact with everyone, if it s just a wave
as I pass by, but not much communication. I don t consider myself a minority. I would say I
interact with a white and Hispanic person maybe 6 days a week. There are of course differences
in appearance even when people are of the same race. It s really hard to say how different people
in my community are from one another because they are all generally the same in terms of
appearance. We have many people of White descent or Polish descent who are just as different as
someone who is of Japanese descent. Because of the color of their

Berkeley Admissions Essay
The election night of 2000 was a pivotal moment in my life. I stayed up all night on November
7th, 2000, not because I was enthralled with watching Florida flip flop between Gore and Bush,
but because I had an IV in my arm which made it impossible to be comfortable. Earlier that
evening, I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes, a disease affecting 1 of 800 people in
America. This was an especially crucial time in my life, considering I was diagnosed with
Ulcerative Colitis an autoimmune disease that attacks the GI track in 1 of 1400 Americans the
June before, and I had my Bar Mitzvah in September. According to the Jewish religion, I had
become an adult, and as such, I had decided to greet my new medical challenges with gusto,

I found the latter to be the most satisfying, as many kids, especially the older ones, were curious
about the effects, but hesitant to ask an adult about the repercussions. The most challenging thing
to me was the number of parents who seemed to simply give up. I saw a large amount of inaction;
which in the case of diabetes is simply unacceptable. I enjoyed educating and motivating these kids
to make beneficial lifestyle changes, so that good health rather than disease can help to define their
futures, as well as my own.
While I started my volunteer educational program, another man was well ensconced in his own.
Al Gore took up a cause that many people seemed to be ignoring, our environment. The issues of
climate change and general environmentalism are very important to me. I see similarities
between the challenges of managing a clean environment for our globe and the challenges of
managing good health to me. Through concerted efforts to make routine changes we have the
capacity to live more ecologically friendly, and often healthier lives. I have seen that with just a
few adjustments, I can control my diabetes to the point where most people do not even know I
have it. Likewise, I believe that if we commit to making fundamental changes in the way we go
about our lives, we can easily remedy several environmental issues we face today. By going to

science. The H.M.S Challenger expedition helped to lay the foundation of oceanography and
increased scientific knowledge of many different types of organisms that are still examined by
scientists today. The Endeavor expedition through a treacherous journey and many setbacks was
the second English ship to land in New Zealand and helped to increase the knowledge of the
surrounding waters and coral reef. The Challenger traveled over 68,000 miles when it arrived at it

Francisco Goya The Terrible Monster Comparison
The following essay is going to examine works by Francisco Goya (1746 1828) and Kathe
Kollwitz (1867 1945). These artists lived in different times and cultures, yet had remarkably
similar styles in several of their works. The two artworks that will be in focus are Goya s
Horrible Monster (From the Disasters of War series 1806 1820) and Kollwitz s Death, woman,
and child (1910). These works will be compared and contrasted to discover the similarities and
differences between each of their meanings, the artistic elements and principles used, their handling
of materials and techniques, and their individual styles. Both of these works have a dark nature
depicted within it. Goya s Horrible Monster displays a large beast as the main object... Show more

Horrible Monster is an etching which achieved a slightly scratchy look, with a more illustrated in
some parts, as well as the lines themselves being darker. To achieve this finish, he had to cover a
metal plate with an acid resistant coating and then scratch through creating the desired lines. The
plate is then immersed in a pool of acid which eats through the spaces which have been scratched
clean. The acid darkens and widens the line, depending on how long it is in the acidic pool. On the
other hand, Kollwitz underwent the aquatint method. This achieved a finish that is softer, and has
an overlaying grain to it. Aquatinting is when you apply a fine resin dust to the surface of a metal
plate, which is then heated from below. The dust then melts to form protective spots on the plate.
When the etching process happens, the acid bites around each

The Positive Health Factors And Effects Of Vegan Diets
Abstract Over the past few years, vegan diets have become increasingly popular. However,
despite their growing popularity, few in depth investigations have been done about the subject.
Three studies that were done were over Finnish, Danish, and Vietnamese vegans and were by
Elorinne, Kristensen, and Ho Pham. The objectives of these studies were to find the effects of
the vegan diet on macro and micronutrient intake, as well as its effect on bone mineral density,
rate of bone loss, and frequency of fractures. The methods between them varied but all consisted
of an analysis of biomarkers in the body and a measure of food intake. The results of each agreed
with each other, as they all showed that vegans had lower levels of key vitamins and... Show more

Compared to the non vegan group, the vegans had low concentrations of vitamins B12 (p=0.002)
and D, even though many used supplements. However, few vegans (5%) were deficient in vitamin
B12, suggesting that the use of supplements helped the vegan subjects keep a healthy level of the
vitamin. The vegans also had a lower concentration of vitamin D (including D2 and 3) by 34%
compared to the non vegans. In spite of this, levels of 25 hydroxyvitamin D2 were higher in the
vegans (p 0.001). Ten percent of the vegans and 78% of non vegans had vitamin D concentrations
higher than 75 nmol/L, the proposed optimal level for health. Some possible reasons for these
results included lack of, or irregularity of, supplementation and when the samples were taken.
Similar studies done with Finnish, British, and Vietnamese vegans showed similar concentrations.
Every vegan subject and 91% of non vegans subjects showed mild iodine deficiency when using
the WHO s criteria of 100 micrograms per liter of urine. This result indicates that the non milk
drinking Finnish population, vegans especially, may not be taking in enough iodine. Past studies
done over vegans have also resulted in low levels of iodine in urine.
In the past, few studies have been done to examine long term vegans and their nutrition. As such,
this study gives new information on the subject. Some problems with this study exist, however,
such as a small sample size and

Essay On Generation Z
Unimaginable. A group of boys who set out to escape World War II cling on for dear life so

The group of boys develop fears that tear away at their relationships and sanity. Impossible. A
group of technology ridden, social media obsessed, lazy teenagers, could never be self sufficient.
Unprepared. A world where falling short is the equivalent of destruction would be a first for the
technology ridden, lazy teenagers. Lost cause. Generation Z, incapable of success or prosperity.

In any generation, from the Greatest Generation to Generation Alpha, you have your outdoorsy
people, your video gamers, your pushovers, your leaders, your cooks and the people who can t

behavior, some will affect certain people and other s won t. Just like we all have a different code
of DNA, different fingerprints or hairs on our heads, our personalities also differ. Maybe some
people from Generation Z will fall apart without their devices, but others could care less about
modern technology. One cannot address a generation and using the traits given to the age group,
decide their capability in different scenarios. One thing that can be done, is understanding that
everyone was made to have different skills for the exact purpose of being the yin to someone s
yang. To fill the empty spaces others cannot. Whether any group of people is thought of as
deadbeats or not, humans were made to succeed. I choose to believe that we are all capable of
surviving with a group of other people and Generation Z is included in that. We are everything,
from leaders to slackers. We may be hopeless in some areas, but no one is completely useless and
everyone has something to contribute. With the right motivation, Generation Z will survive. The
same goes for the Millennials, Generation X, all generations

How Did The Schlieffen Plan Fail
The very last thing that the Germans wished for was a war on two fronts. Unfortunately for them,
they got one. In preparation, Germany came up with a plan called the Schlieffen Plan. It was first
created in 1897 and took about nine years to complete entirely! The biggest flaw of the plan was
that it was based completely on theory. This whole plan was basically just a guess as to what
would occur. From July to August of 1914, it turned out that this plan was utterly wrong.
Germany s Chief of the Imperial German General Staff, Alfred Von Schlieffen, created the
Schlieffen Plan. The Schlieffen plan was made to prevent this two front war between Germany and
Austria Hungary. The idea was to find a plan that would adapt to the changes that had happened ...

He was replaced with Helmuth Von Moltke who had decided to make a few changes to the plan. He
only wanted to march through Belgium, not the Netherlands. Very obviously, the Schlieffen plan
still failed due to the lack of preparation for the Russian invasion. Other factors as to why this
plan failed were that they miscalculated Belgium s resistance, and they did not have enough men.
The Schlieffen plan was not flexible at all, once started, there was no turning back or changing it.
At the Battle of Mons, the British Expeditionary Force resisted and killed several of the German
soldiers. Moltke and his men were defeated at the battle of Marne in September of 1914. They had
been defeated and were now entering a two front war.
The Schlieffen plan was not successful for the Germans. They were unprepared, and had
underestimated their enemies. The main reason as to why the Schlieffen plan failed was that the
Germans were too stubborn to change or adjust it once it had been finalized. The plan was not
flexible at all and Moltke would refuse to budge from the original plan. Schlieffen s plan, although
it took nine years to finalize, was not well thought out after they attacked France. If the Germans
had been willing to change the plan a little, it may have

Batman And Batman
Inspired, but Independent
Both Batwoman and Batman are vigilantes in the fictional city of Gotham. The characters mostly
exist in the comics to help each other. With Batwoman being initially created to set her partner s
sexuality record straight, they take off to work together. Their existence in Gotham as Batmanand
Batwoman, albeit being illegal, is much need by the residents who suffer in the hands of the highly
skilled criminals such as the Joker who have mastered their techniques. The police department is
simply lacking in comparison to the skills of the criminals and they cannot help but watch as the
residents get terrorized. Furthermore, neither Batwoman nor Batman work for the government,
hence their crime solving is not biased ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Batwoman is comparable to a female version of Batman in the American comic book series, DC
Comics. Her character is played secretly by Katherine Kane, who, just like Batman, masks her face
during the nights to fight crime. Just as Batman, she is a successful entrepreneur who has devoted
her wealth and skills to fighting crime. Again similarly, Batwoman does not possess any
superpowers and relies on her military trainings to combat crime. In short, both vigilante characters
wear the bat costume to fight crime in Gotham. Nonetheless, Batwoman is an entirely independent
superhero with her own ways and rulebooks.
Both Batman and Batwoman are victims of crime and the pain and loss suffered from the
criminal acts is their mutual driving force. Batman, at a young age, lost both of his parents in a
robbery shootout. When the crime happened, he did not know what to do he simply watched as
his parents bodies lay lifeless by the road. The image was forever imprinted on the boy s mind. He
could not, no matter how hard he tried, to stop recounting the night he became an orphan. After
school and running a successful business, Wayne feels that he is ready to give back to the city by
fighting criminals.
Just like Batman, Batwoman is driven by pain and vengeance. She shares in Batman s painful
sentiment of loss as she herself lost a parent and a sister. At the age twelve, on her birthday, Kate,
her twin sister and her mother were kidnapped, but her mother and supposedly her sister

Ecuador is a small country on the Pacific coast of South America. It is bisected laterally by the
equator, and longitudinally by the Andes. The Andes divide the country s mainland into three
distinct regions, the coast to the west, the mountains, and the rainforest to the east. It is the Andes
that this paper is focused on, giving special attention to the mountain Cotopaxi.
The Andes run along the western side of South America, starting in Venezuela and continuing
through Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina, all the way to the southern tip of Chile.

162), and the second highest peak in Ecuador. It is locates in the Northern Volcanic Zone of the
Andes, less than a degree south of the equator. It is almost perfectly conical, rising to a height of
5,897 meters above sea level, and is covered with glaciers from about 4,500 meters up to the
summit. The glaciers cover a total area of 21 km2, as of 2004. At the summit, the crater is about
800 meters across, and extends to a depth of 334 meters (Aguilera et al, 2004, p. 162). The
primary rivers it drains water into are the Rio Cutuchi to the south, the Rio Pita to the north, and
the Rio Tamboto to the east (Aguilera et al, 2004, p. 163). It is along these rivers than many towns
are located. Along the Rio Cutuchi, the city of Latacunga is a mere 43 km away from the volcano;
while SangolquГ is located to the north, in the Valle de los Chillos, about 40 km downstream
along the Rio Pita from Cotopaxi (Aguilera et al, 2004, p. 163). The capital of Ecuador, Quito,
lies only about 50 km away to the northwest (Aguilera et al, 2004, p. 162).
The glaciers that give Cotopaxi its stunning appearance are one of the factors that make Cotopaxi
so dangerous. When the volcano has an eruption, the hot material issued from the crater melts
portions of the glaciers on the summit, inevitably triggering lahars. Cotopaxi is known for having
syn eruptive lahars. According to Aguilera et al, (2004),

The four key characteristics that symbolize Mercutio are bravery, joyfulness, straightforward and last but not least a good friend. The first characteristic that exemplifies Mercutio is his bravery and this is represented on the mask with a chessboard. In Act 3, Scene 1, Mercutiosays, O calm dishonorable, vile submission! • 3. Essay on An Annotation of Wallace Stevens Of Modern Poetry An Annotation of Wallace Stevens Of Modern Poetry In Of Modern Poetry, Stevens describes the purpose of modern poetry given what the audience knows and values. Modern poetry must be different from traditional poetry, because people of his time perceive themselves and their world differently than the people of earlier times. Stevens suggests that war, like other changes, have affected what people believe. Poetry must reflect to its audience what they want to hear. It must show them that the order, meaning and value they need is real, in so much as their minds both need it and can create it. OF MODERN POETRY The poem of the mind in the act of finding What will suffice. It has not always had To find: the scene was set; it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stevens first points out how modern poetry differs from traditional poetry. The implication is that people are now questioning some fundamental aspects of intellectual constructs that used to be considered necessary and true. In particular Stevens questions tradition of reading the book of nature, of starting with religious presumptions and assuming nature communicates these ideas to humans. Other traditions had changed as well thoughts about the social roles of men and women and social propriety; thoughts about religious values and scientific discovery; nature and purpose of communication resulting from new inventions. These changes sometimes reflected, sometimes caused the development of new values. The rest of the poem records the change that occurs after traditional assumptions are uprooted. The past was a souvenir because once people realized that certain traditions could be changed, they had no reason to believe those traditions had to be the standard. Like a souvenir, the scene and the script became only a reminder of where people had been, it has no practical use for the present. Once people conceived of a new stage, a new script, a new way of thinking, it had to be experimented with. They valued experimentation, because they did not have a required standard. They valued finding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their indecisive commitment kept them in between the two sides as they would patiently wait, aloof from the conflict, until they were either liberated by the Americans or absolutely certain that the British would retain effective control of Nova Scotia. (qtd in Bennett pg 135) Neutrality had many benefits including increased trade with the British forces for the Halifax merchants, as Bennett states Material incentive and the prospect of war profits secured the vocal support and loyalty of some Nova Scotians . (qtd in Bennett 142). Most people were heavily reliant on the British Navy for protection and continued to supply British troops for their own benefits. (Bennett 142) Also, Halifax was the center of a large British naval and military base. As Wilms states the strong military presence made it virtually impossible for any sort of active revolution. (qtd in Wilms) Although their influence did not stretch across all of the settlements the base provided simple trade and protection from warfare. This influenced many to stay neutral even if their fundamental beliefs had most likely lied with the rebels. (Bennett 139) Overall, based on multiple influences Nova Scotia decided to reside in the American Revolution and stay neutral. Their lack of influence on the war was largely determined by spiritual revival, economic salvation and independent ideology. In our modern society most citizens would go to extraordinary lengths to protect loved ones, which is very similar to the Scotians. Some going against basic beliefs they ultimately chose to benefit themselves. Zero Day Exploit On the 26th of April 2014 a zero day vulnerability in Internet Explorer (IE) was discovered by security vendor FireEye . The exploit targeted defense and financial services companies using IE9 through IE11 and was found on a very popular U.S. website. The malicious code was removed from the website as soon as the host was notified, however in Microsoft advisory #2963983 released the same day FireEye announced the exploit discovery, Microsoft provided limited guidance and did not state when it would release a fix. Prior to the patch, the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US CERT) advised companies to use an alternative browser until a fix was available, however for many companies that was not an option since business applications often depended on IE. The attackers discovered by FireEye took advantage of the fact that most people use PCs in administrator mode, which gave full access to the system. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the current user. Once breaking into the system of such a user, the hackers proceeded to move within the PC or network looking for ways to escalate the privileges and gain access to more data and/or systems. Both the Microsoft advisory and security update stated the best practice would be that companies should only provide administrative access to people who have a need for it in doing their job. Some experts recommend segmenting the corporate network to confine people to specific areas, which would also contain the mischief of hackers. Any organization that has properly segmented their network will be at low risk to sensitive data being accessed as a result of a breach related to this attack, Brandon Hoffman, vice president of cybersecurity at RedSeal Networks has stated. Other experts say that employees often find ways around these restrictions, which would then provide means that cybercriminals could exploit. Ross Barrett, senior manager of Rapid7 stated, You ... Kathy felt that her donor wanted to feel as if he had lived through Hailsham, himself. This section makes the reader ask themselves why would Kathy s donor want to remember Hailsham. By reading in between the lines of this section we can gather that Hailsham was probably better than wherever Kathy s donor was to prior of being in her care. Maybe Kathy s donor had a poor and unfulfilling life. Maybe he feels that because Kathy is from Hailsham, she would have had a good life. From reading in between the lines we can gather that Kathy s donor had an awful life and wanted to feel as if he had been a part of Hailsham. This connection is important because it helps the reader determine that Hailsham was special without being told that directly. Additionally, this section further complicates the mystery around Hailsham. Ishiguro achieves this by making the reader ask questions similar to what makes Hailsham so special anyway? . You can t go out there and take anybody lightly...He s a tough opponent. I respect him enough to have trained for him the way I trained for him. And that s about the most respect this motherfucker is going to get from me. He s not getting no more respect. I already gave him enough respect by training for him as hard as I have. That is respect enough. When I go in there, I am going to be very, very disrespectful to him. Both fighters think a win puts them at the front of a long line of fighters who also believe they are next to get a shot at taking the title from Bisping, who is fighting Georges St Pierre at UFC 217. • 15. The Issues Of Canada s Telecommunications Industry On many occasions, Canada s telecommunications industry has been criticized for being inefficiently competitive. Claims have been made by the critics of Canada s wireless sector that there needs to be additional regulation to create more competition, lower prices and improve service quality. In doing so, the Canadian federal governmenthas used these criticisms to their advantage in order to justify interventionist spectrum allocation policies and advocate for additional regulation of the wirelesssector (Masse Beaudry, May 2014). In the fall of 2013, the government even took the unusual step of launching a $9 million ad campaign aimed at publicizing its efforts to support greater competition in the wireless sector and to convince the public of the need to intervene (National Post, December 3, 2013). The telecommunications industry has conducted many lobbying efforts against government intervention and tried to manage public perception around this controversial issue. Furthermore, this essay discusses that the federal government is not acting in the public interest. The government is displaying a positive as opposed to normative stance. The government should allow the market to determine services and the telecommunications industry to control resources. If intervention should take place, it should be done with public interest in mind and not with fabricated policies which harm, instead of help, consumers and the telecommunications industry. • 16. Carlo Scarpa s Approach And Theory INTRODUCTION AND BUILDING HISTORY Carlo Scarpa s approach and theory to designing with existing buildings is an innovation that is relevant to buildings even today. The Castelvecchio museum is one of his greatest projects, and thoroughly reveals his way of working. Scarpas intention was not only to restore an aging building but to do so in a way that creates dialogue between the new and the old. By careful work of demolition and preservation, he literally cuts, shifts and adds elements to the existing building in order to create an exhibition of the building s past, and its connection to modernity. In order for him to make informed decisions about what to preserve and what to demolish, he had to have a thorough understanding of the building s political history. The Castelvecchio dates back as far as the 12th century, and has undergone four eras of development in its lifetime. The commune wall is the oldest element in the building and was the second of three large fortifications in Verona (Fig 1.1). In 1354, the Castelvecchio was built by the Scaligeri family, the Lords of Verona, and was built for their own defense against the citizens for times of revolt. It was built either side of the commune wall, and consisted of a three story residence or Reggia around an inner court and an outer military zone (Fig 1.2). The Castelvecchio continued this military function until 1797, where Napoleon and his troops claimed residence during his invasion over the Venetian Republic. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. How Do Early Theories Explain How Children Develop Their... Hi Tom, there are many theories that try to explain that how children develop their language skills. From my perspective, I believe that early theories have provided a good understanding of children and their progress. In early theories, the environment was said to greatly influence a child s learning and also played a major role in child languagedevelopments. According to Skinner, children learn language based on behaviorist reinforcement principles by associating words with meanings. Correct utterances are positively reinforced when the child realizes the communicative value of words and phrases. For example, when the child says milk and the mother will smile and give her some as a result, the child will find this outcome rewarding, enhancing the child s language development (1). I think that early theories are a perfect way to explain how a child develops their language skills. However, Noam Chomsky has heavily criticized early child development theories. Chomsky has proposed that the theory of Universal Grammar can improve our understanding of childhood development. According to Chomsky, Universal Grammar is an idea of innate, biological grammatical categories, such as a noun category and a verb category that facilitate the entire language development in children and overall language processing in adults. Universal Grammar is considered to contain all the grammatical information needed to combine these categories, e.g. noun and verb, into phrases. The child s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. The Buddha Of Suburbia By Hanif Kureishi For many people, the word punk brings to mind similar images of grungy looking teenagers who are wearing dark, ripped clothing held together with safety pins and chains which displays some sort of offensive symbol or saying. They are probably also wearing a leather jacket and Doc Martens, sporting an unconventional hairstyle such as a brightly colored Mohawk or spikes, and listening to loud music. For the most part, the images people think of as associated with the word punk are a pretty accurate representation of how people who were part of the punk movement looked. Though most people can describe what punks are supposed to look like, most cannot explain the purpose of the anti fashion trend that most punks followed. Throughout Hanif Kureishi s novel, The Buddha of Suburbia, there is a focus on the emergence of the punk scene in London during the 1970s. The first obvious encounter we have with punk in the novel appears on page 129, when Karim and Charlie go to the Nashville and see their first punk band. The Nashville is a popular venue where many punk bands got their start, and a lot of famous bands, such as the Sex Pistols, performed. Karim describes the scene that they come upon with a great detailed description of the outlandish appearances of both the audience and the band members. He also describes the unusual way they are acting, the aggressive way they are dancing and the abuse between the band and audience. Though his attention is mainly on the emergence of the ... She comments that the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms provides not only formative but substantial protection from inequalities. Unlike the U.S., Mackinnon comments that the Canadian system seeks to alter the poor treatment of disadvantaged groups and amend their status.[6] The Court utilized this approach in the case of R v. Butler where it recognized that the humiliation, degradation, and subordination of women was harm to society as a whole as it led to an inequality.[7] In other words, the court recognized the social and communal harm imposed by pornography, that is to say it recognized the context under which the pornography occurred. Recognizing not only the harm from pornography but more importantly the inequality that it perpetuates, the Canadian courts ruled in an opposite manner to their U.S counterparts. At one point, Mackinnon wonders what warrants the restriction of freedom of speech in the US. One judge once wrote, fear of serious injury cannot alone justify the suppression of free speech . She points out that it is this exact fear a fear of serious injury which justifies the government s prohibition on child pornography.[8] She continues that it is the plight of the abused, which is frequently trivialized in the United States. The first Soviet gun controls were enacted during the Russian Civil War, as Czarists, Western troops, and national independence movements fought the central Red regime. Firearm registration was instituted on April 1, 1918. In October 1918, the Council of People s Commissars (the government) ordered the renunciation of all firearms, ammunition, and sabers. As has been the case in nearly every nation where firearms registration has been introduced, registration proved a preamble to confiscation. Excused from the confiscation order, however, were affiliates of the Communist Party. A 1920 decree imposed a obligatory minimum penalty of six months in prison for non Communist possession of a firearm, even where there was no felonious intent. After the Red triumph in the Civil War, the firearm laws were consolidated in a Criminal Code, which if broken, unauthorized possession of a firearm would be punishable by rigid labor. A 1925 law made unauthorized possession of a firearm punishable by three months of hard labor, plus a fine of 300 rubles (equal to about four months wages for a highly paid construction worker). Expanding into E-Commerce Expanding into E Commerce Off the Boardwalk and into the World Wide Web: A Four Point Analysis 1) The purpose of this section if to provide a SWOT analysis for a small, local clothing store on the New Jersey Boardwalk looking to transition into the online market place. Any boutique clothing store like the one provided has many strengths. The company s unique style helps differentiate it from its competitors. In addition, the company is small and flexible which enables it to employ different talents, ranging from domestic to international, to meet their project needs (Pinker, 2002). Of course, any such company has its weaknesses. The company is a local clothing store which means it is dependent on its manufacturers and variations in material and labor costs of third parties producers. Another problem that any small clothing store faces is coming up with new innovative ideas that fit to mass customization for their customers (Alexander, et al., 2003). Any small, local company looking to expand into the online market place also has numerous opportunities. Their business currently comes from customers walking up and down the boardwalk which has a limited season. By expanding to the internet, they will dramatically increase the number of customers exposed to their merchandize on a global scale. The expansion of the disturbing function leads to the problem that a small inner satellite can be strongly disturbed by Triton. The Critical Success Factor Of British Petroleum The image as well as the operational business reputation of a corporation is critical to the survivability of the corporation in today s business world. Today we will put our focus on one of UK s largest multinational oils company s. In the case with British Petroleum (BP) as it actively explores oil in 26 countries around the world, due to BP s lack of focus on the safety issues presented in the 2004 Telos Group report coupled with the oversight and control to correct safety hazards, the Texas plant experienced a disastrous fire and explosion killing 15 workers and injuring 180 other personnel as stated by Halbert and Ingulli (2012, pg. 185) An investigation by the Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board released a report in 2007 that revealed process safety leadership issues starting with senior managementas well as disregarding safety concerns throughout BP. This paper will attempt to look at various details of the Critical Success Factor of British Petroleum(BP). We will then determine how these factors impact the success of the firm through project benefits, risk culture and organizational readiness. In this paper we will also provide project risk recommendations that will allow companies to plan accordingly when dealing with risk managementtask this way they will focus more on responsibilities, safety activities and budget. • 37. Free Trade Vs. Protectionism Introduction At first, I will establish the differences between the concepts of free trade and protectionism, the benefits of each of the different policies and cases in which such policies are used, as well as conflicts generated by those political decisions. Then, discuss the terms of international competitiveness so, with both approaches, I can establish a conclusion to the question. Free trade vs. Protectionism General Introduction to the concepts The free trade are the existing agreements between various countries to significantly reduce trade barriers among participants of the agreement. Its antithesis is the protectionism policy, used by governments to protect domestic products, limiting the entry of foreign products causing them to be more expensive through custom duties. What are the benefits of using those policies? (Baena, 2010) Free trade: Increase efficiency of production factors. Specializing in goods which can report a real comparative advantage over other countries make that country to increase its production possibilities. Increasing wealth and employment. Increase and development of competition. Due to the entry of foreign competitors into the domestic market, local companies have to become more efficient, favouring prices down and increase the quality and performance of their products. Greater variety and quantity of goods and services. Without the international trade certain products would not exist or would be scarce. Achieving economies of scale. ... • 38. Analysis Of The Movie The Dark Night Rises The Dark Night Rises July 20th 2012 held the midnight premiere of the anticipated film, The Dark Night Rises, this night was also the premiere of an idea in my head, that I passionately hated guns. The Aurora shooting was a massacre that carved a deep impression on my beliefs in relation to guns and even more so, the moral people. It was after that incident that I began to see America s ethical spine for what it really was, bent and partially broken. As the ethical backbone of this country continues to twist and curve in uncomfortable directions, I fear the safety of the future. A dark night did rise in that midnight hour and continues to do so with every incident and heartbreak this country endures. Life is no longer sacred, hope is deferred and this nation is lost searching for a solution. Guns have become somewhat of an arch nemesis to many in this country. There is only one implication that guns reveal, and that is death. To possess, to use, to practice with a gunis to imply that one intends to inflict bodily harm on another and although in some cases this intention may be good, in most, it is not. Even in the hands of those who assume the duty to protect this country, are questioned on whether or not using a gun was the right decision. If a police officer can be found guilty of misuse of a firearm; men and women who have trained and practiced physically and mentally on how to operate a gun, how then can a normal citizen expect to use one correctly? • 39. The Flight Path From Singapore 3.2 The Haversine formula The haversine formula is an important equation in navigation, calculating the haversine of the central angle between two points on a great circle of a sphere using the latitudes and the longitudes of the two points: sin2 (d2r) = sin2 ( О¦2 О¦12) + cos (О¦1) cos (О¦2) sin2 ( О»2 О»12) where О¦1 and О¦2 denote the latitudes of Singapore and Chicago respectively, and О»1 and О»2 denote the longitudes of Singapore and Chicago respectively. We can rearrange the haversine formula to give us the distance d between the two cities. 3.3 The Haversine function In order to show how the haversine formula is derived, we must first understand the function of the haversine. The term haversine appears to have originated from half a versed sine , or half a versine . The haversine function is useful as it can calculate the distance of an arc of a great circle. The flight path from Singapore to Chicago is, in fact, an arc of a great circle. The versine function is one of many trigonometric functions that were once popular in fields such as navigation, but now are practically obsolete and are no longer taught in schools. Commonly abbreviated as versin, the versine function is versin (О±) = 1 cos (О±) where О± is the variable in the function. However, this does not seem very useful in the derivation of the haversine formula. We can manipulate the versine function into a more useful substitution using the half angleidentity sin2 (12О±) = [1 cos (О±)] as sin2 (12О±) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I enjoyed educating and motivating these kids to make beneficial lifestyle changes, so that good health rather than disease can help to define their futures, as well as my own. To achieve this finish, he had to cover a metal plate with an acid resistant coating and then scratch through creating the desired lines. The plate is then immersed in a pool of acid which eats through the spaces which have been scratched clean. The acid darkens and widens the line, depending on how long it is in the acidic pool. On the other hand, Kollwitz underwent the aquatint method. This achieved a finish that is softer, and has an overlaying grain to it. Aquatinting is when you apply a fine resin dust to the surface of a metal plate, which is then heated from below. The dust then melts to form protective spots on the plate. The objectives of these studies were to find the effects of the vegan diet on macro and micronutrient intake, as well as its effect on bone mineral density, rate of bone loss, and frequency of fractures. The methods between them varied but all consisted of an analysis of biomarkers in the body and a measure of food intake. Compared to the non vegan group, the vegans had low concentrations of vitamins B12 (p=0.002) and D, even though many used supplements. However, few vegans (5%) were deficient in vitamin B12, suggesting that the use of supplements helped the vegan subjects keep a healthy level of the vitamin. The vegans also had a lower concentration of vitamin D (including D2 and 3) by 34% compared to the non vegans. In spite of this, levels of 25 hydroxyvitamin D2 were higher in the vegans (p 0.001). Ten percent of the vegans and 78% of non vegans had vitamin D concentrations higher than 75 nmol/L, the proposed optimal level for health. Some possible reasons for these results included lack of, or irregularity of, supplementation and when the samples were taken. Similar studies done with Finnish, British, and Vietnamese vegans showed similar concentrations. Every vegan subject and 91% of non vegans subjects showed mild iodine deficiency when using the WHO s criteria of 100 micrograms per liter of urine. • 50. How Did The Schlieffen Plan Fail The very last thing that the Germans wished for was a war on two fronts. Unfortunately for them, they got one. In preparation, Germany came up with a plan called the Schlieffen Plan. It was first created in 1897 and took about nine years to complete entirely! The biggest flaw of the plan was that it was based completely on theory. This whole plan was basically just a guess as to what would occur. From July to August of 1914, it turned out that this plan was utterly wrong. Germany s Chief of the Imperial German General Staff, Alfred Von Schlieffen, created the Schlieffen Plan. The Schlieffen plan was made to prevent this two front war between Germany and Austria Hungary. The idea was to find a plan that would adapt to the changes that had happened ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was replaced with Helmuth Von Moltke who had decided to make a few changes to the plan. He only wanted to march through Belgium, not the Netherlands. Very obviously, the Schlieffen plan still failed due to the lack of preparation for the Russian invasion. Other factors as to why this plan failed were that they miscalculated Belgium s resistance, and they did not have enough men. The Schlieffen plan was not flexible at all, once started, there was no turning back or changing it. At the Battle of Mons, the British Expeditionary Force resisted and killed several of the German soldiers. Moltke and his men were defeated at the battle of Marne in September of 1914. They had been defeated and were now entering a two front war. The Schlieffen plan was not successful for the Germans. They were unprepared, and had underestimated their enemies. The main reason as to why the Schlieffen plan failed was that the Germans were too stubborn to change or adjust it once it had been finalized. The plan was not flexible at all and Moltke would refuse to budge from the original plan. The primary rivers it drains water into are the Rio Cutuchi to the south, the Rio Pita to the north, and the Rio Tamboto to the east (Aguilera et al, 2004, p. 163). It is along these rivers than many towns are located.
