Search Paper 2 Literature Search Paper Research allows an individual to investigate a subject in
order to discover facts and theories. The facts learned from the research are applied to his or her

The search results were somehow limited. It was apparent that my search was not providing me
with relevant data, so I then changed my keyword to handwashing where I found 3,087

narrow the search, I then used the CINAHL Subject Headings as a component for my search.
Subject Heading Search Keeping note that the keyword retrieval left me with 3,087 articles, I
then used CINAHL Headings for my search. The CINAHL Heading search allows the search of
literature with certain terms desired in the references. By typing hand washing under the
CINAHL Heading and browsed, I was given terms that were related to hand washing. The terms
were ranked based on the relevancy of importance related to the subject. Handwashing was the
first term found and by clicking on its link, I was taken to a term detailed screen. Listed was
handwashing under the Tree View terms, which are hierarchy groupings of subject headings. The
subheadings were also found here. I chose handwashing and infection control. By clicking on the
subheadings and the Explode link, I then gained access to articles that contained terms about
handwashing or infection control. The Explode link is thought of as an operators of OR . It is
used to find articles containing the keyword or other words as chosen. Once I exploded

Magna Carta Thesis
The Magna Carta is a document that holds significance in the foundation of the United States of
America, despite its British origins. Conceived as a peace treaty to alleviate political unrest in
1215, the Magna Carta, which is Latin for The Great Charter, declared that all people, including
King John of England, are subject to the rule of law. Regarding its original purpose as a peace
treaty, the Magna Carta was not as effective in 1215 as it became in 1225 under King Henry III. It
was during this era that the Magna Carta s message of justice, fairness, and freedom had a
substantial influence on King Henry III s subjects. These core values epitomize several rights based
declarations around the world. Particularly, there has been international... Show more content on

532). The creation of the Bill of Rights mirrored the demands of British rebels during the King John
era. The extrapolation of the Magna Carta for the United States Bill of Rights is rather ironic
because Americans based their resistance mainly on the rights they shared with Britons in Britain
not to be taxed without their own consent, rights that they traced back to Magna Carta (Conway,
n.d.). By crafting a document that had already been revered by the same leadership by different
subjects, the Americans forced the British government to either comply or submit to hypocrisy.
Ultimately, it was through this strategic diplomacy as well as well fought battles throughout the 13
colonies that allowed Americans to eventually benefit from a decent

Rhetorical Devices In Jfk Inaugural Speech
On January 20 of 1961, John F. Kennedy took the stage and received the honor of becoming the
President of the United States. At this time, throughout the world we were locked into constant
issues, such as the Cold War. This put us in a headlock with Russia because neither side was
willing to press the button and release the bombs. Kennedy stood on the platform and swore to us
in his inaugural speech that he would keep us, the public, safe and end these conflicts that we were
tangled in. Rhetorical devices became his ally as he tries to establish trust and hope for himself
through the hearts of the audience.
In the first section of the speech, Kennedy celebrates the deep history of America and promises
to continue to uphold the ideal we were founded on. The metaphor the torch has been passed on
to a new generation of Americans reminds his audience of the rich past of the country and the
duty this generation has to uphold it. This metaphor is very poignant because the torch holders in
expeditions are extremely vital to the safety and success of the people on the journey. So when he
stated that it has been passed on to us, you get the feeling that a really important job has been
given to us and that we must work hard not to let anyone down. In the same idea, the torch is also
being given to Kennedy as he takes on the role of the President. So we can view it as us all holding
a torch with Kennedy heading the group as we strive to carve a path through the darkness of

Kellogg s Special K Advertising
arketing and the media effect on young people s decisions significantly. This is largely through the
use of marketing strategies and advertising techniques which play on several key factors in order to
win over their intended audience. These factors include trends, bandwagon, claims, association,
promotion, as well as appeal and many others. By employing these strategies companies aim to
coax, even sometimes completely mislead young people into buying their products. This is evident
in the Kellogg s Special K advertisement.
Throughout the advertisement, a variety of techniques are used to entice the audience in this case
young women into buying the product. For instance, in the ad bright colours such as red and pink
are worn by the female actors in contrast with dull, fruitless white walls. This captures/retains the
viewer s attention, directing it towards the actors slim, idealistic physiques. Consequently, the
advertisement creates an image that those who eat Special K enjoy an ideal body, thus establishing
appeal for the product from many young women.
Another example of marketing strategies during the ad is the use of pathos (emotional appeal). For
instance, the ad slogan you don t just wake up looking fabulous implies that the viewer needs

The former of these techniques is clear when a short, slow motion recording of milk being

the cereal look aesthetically pleasing. Also, the music accompanying the commercial is upbeat and

Bloodstream Infection Paper
Reducing Hospital Acquired Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter Bloodstream Infections
Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) can be used for routine patient care for treatment
and have been increasingly used over the past years. They are more invasive than a peripheral
intravenous line (PIV); however, they can be inserted at the bedside, are easily removed, and
provide many positive benefits. PICCs relieve patients from frequent venipuncture for serial lab
draws, decreases frequent re starts of PIVs, and the patient can be discharged home, if needed, for
continued IV therapy. Although there are benefits to these easily inserted central lines, central line
associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) are a possibility (Dumont Nessselrodt, 2012).
Problem PICCs are frequently used on medical floors and intensive care units (ICUs) for further
management of patient care. These central lines, however, put patients at a high risk for CLABSI
(Kusek, 2012). According to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CLABSI is considered a preventable event, yet it is still a persistent problem across the U.S.
Utilizing CLABSI bundles can significantly reduce this issue. Components of the CLABSI bundle
include hand hygiene, antiseptic and sterile techniques, and prompt removal of catheters
(McAlearney et al., 2015). CLABSI bundles should be introduced to nursing staff and more
importantly, implemented. A few common barriers to implementing CLABSI bundle practices
include inadequate nurse to patient ratios, inadequate education, and lack of leadership support
(Kusek, 2012). Along with initiating the CLABSI bundle, a study conducted in the Calabria region
of Italy, demonstrated that formal training, written policies, years of experience and practice, and a
positive attitude towards CLABSI prevention are also important aspects in avoiding this infection

British Colonialism Essay example
The study of British colonialism is a rather new field with much to discuss and a lot more to
debate. The recent recognition of new nation states that were once under the control of Britain
was a growing phenomenon and one that continues to play a large role in today s global politics.
Since the rather recent period of these new nations, new study s have been done into the history
of a) the peoples that inhabited the land before Britain, b) the way Britain occupied and control
and land, and now c) post Britain. This is a growing topic in the historical field because seventy
five years ago there was no thought that Britain would relieve control of India or Nigeria. That is
why post British colonialism is important to today, because it is a... Show more content on

1300 British men died and was evidently the worst British defeat at the hands of a native power in
the history of its empire. This was played down by the British crown as nothing more than a minor
skirmish, however, since the fall of the British empire, historians have done their share of
reviewing, analyzing and critiquing the battle and why is ended in such disaster for the British.
The first major piece of work to be written about the Anglo Zulu war, with a small chapter devoted
to the battle of Isandlwana, is called The History of the Zulu War and Its Origin by Frances Ellen
Colenso. Written in 1880, one year after the war concluded, Colenso wrote in a Pro nationalist
focus. He applauds the camp tactics employed by Lord Chelmsford, General of British Forces in
South Africa and Natal, and does in no way seem to dislike or question the Generals commands.
As stated above, this a very short chapter in a very large book. There are thirty pages devoted to
Isandlwana in a book of over 400 pages. The thesis of the book is However insufficient the result
may prove, we shall at least hope that our work may give some slight assistance to the
maintenance of which alone can ensure the true honour of the British name . The way the book
was written, it is a very pro British book with emphasis on helping the British reputation. The book
does leave out a lot of important details because it is written one year after the event. Reading it,

How Does Hockey Change Throughout The Novel
Saul s shifts in understandings, strategies and approaches to hockey relate to his evolution of his
character as they mark his state of recovery in the novel. Throughout the entirety of the novel
Saul becomes angrier no longer playing his clean game of hockey because he is using hockey as
a form of release for his treatment at the residential school. At the start of the novel hockey was
an escape for Saul. He was able to use it to get away from the grim reality of the real world.
However, as the novel progresses, his understanding of the game begins to become violent and
more like the Residential School rather than an escape. Another shift that happened as his character
evolved is he lost his gift of vision and strategy in hockey. As he lost... Show more content on

Summary Of Life For My Child Is Simple By Gwendolyn Brooks
Life for my Child is Simple , written by Gwendolyn Brooks, commences with a mother speaking
of her child s carefree personality. Throughout the poem, she recalls various memories of her child
committing actions without fearing the possible consequences. Brooks use of alliteration, when
she describes water slooshing slooopily , and the lack of a rhyme scheme, mirrors a child s
lighthearted perspective towards life and the risks it offers (13). The author s tone towards the
subject reflects one of hope, while the reader can interpret the poem as inspiring and encouraging of
taking opportunities. As an individual ages, society places an unknown pressure on adolescents to

The Effects Of Acne Among Teens With Acne
Imagine sitting in the middle of class with a throbbing pain in the middle of your forehead, not
being able to concentrate on what the teacher is saying because the pain is all that is totally
consuming your mind like a dog that has not eaten in weeks. Many teens are affected with acne
not only in the United States but all over the world. They are crippled by the red, puss filled
craters all over their faces and bodies. Scared to go out in public with the fear of someone
making a joke about their acne, like calling them pizza face. Not all people are affected by the
shame but the ones who are, are stuck in this never ending cycle that we call acne. Always
worrying about when a pimple will pop up and ruin their entire day, maybe even their entire week.
There are many causes of acne among teens, how it affects the teens with acne, and what teens can
do to try and help the acne that is riddling their skinto disappear. Approximately eighty five
percent of people between the ages of twelve to twenty five experience some form of acne. The
most common type of acne that teens get is called acne vulgaris. This just means that the pimples
can show up on the face, neck, shoulders, upper back, and chest. There are glands in the human
skin that are called sebaceous glands that secrete sebum. Sebum is an oil in the skin that lubricates
your hair and skin to prevent them from drying out. When the glands sometimes produce too much
sebum or too many dead skin cells it can cause clogged

Many of the reports that acknowledge the negative health effects, still recognize that the benefits of
breastfeeding out way these potential consequences (Gascon, 2012). This view is also
acknowledged by the WHO and Health Canada who state that infants should be exclusively

years of age (http://www.phac aspc.gc.ca/hp ps/dca dea/stages etapes/childhood enfance_0 2

Position
This paper sides with the position of WHO and Health Canada in recommending breastfeeding in
communities that eat traditional foods despite the potential health consequences presented by
POPs. The risks of transferring POPs in breastmilk amongst people who eat traditional country food
diets should be acknowledged, but until there is more definitive research about these risks
breastfeeding should still be recommended due to the physiological benefits that both the mother
and infant receive, and its importance within Inuit and First Nations communities. Instead there
should be a focus on the larger scale issues of climate change and the release of POPs that lead to
the smaller scale issues of POPs in human breastmilk.

Summary Of The Movie The Castle
The Castle is an iconic Australian movie, directed by Rob Stich. Filmed in 1997, it is set in 1980s
Australia and really portrays the idea of the stereotypical Australian family. Key values endorsed in
this movie are family, home, community and justice. The movie explores the theme of what is
right, regardless of the law from the viewpoint of a middle class Australian family.
The key message of both the scenes is justice, beyond what the law states.
The first scene is when Darryl first makes an appeal to the court, trying to explain why what is
happening just isn t right, but unfortunately with no legal evidence, he doesn t get far. In this scene,
Darryl is in a very empty courtroom with only him and Farouk, symbolising that at this point

Dyslexia Teaching
Understanding Dyslexia: Defining, Identifying, and Teaching Research suggests that while there is
no cure for Dyslexia, students can adapt through multi sensory instruction and become successful
members of society (Allen, 2010). In order to instruct students with dyslexia, it is crucial that
educators understand what dyslexiais, what causes it, and the steps to identifying a student who
struggles with readingand shows signs of dyslexia (Allen, 2010). According to Allen (2010), of
those who have identified as having a learning disability, 80% are affected by a reading disability.
According to Dejerine, Dyslexia is suspected to be neurobiological in origin. This is confirmed by
way of functional magnetic resonance imaging (Allen, 2010).... Show more content on

After their struggles are recognized, good teaching will allow them to perform to the best of
their ability (MacKay, 1997). In order to make students with dyslexia feel more comfortable
about reading there are a few steps to follow. While telling students to read a book and then write
a paper on it may seem like basic instructions, to a student with dyslexia that could seem like a
nightmare. MacKay presents a few steps to follow when reading which include: title, captions,
pictures, questions, and reading. This is very beneficial to a student with dyslexia because his
/her brain needs tasks to be broken down otherwise they will feel like they are out of memory
(MacKay, 1997). There are many organizational tools that are helpful when reading or
categorizing information. Brainstorming is a great tool because no organization is required, it is
simply just putting thoughts on paper (MacKay, 1997). When timing is appropriate to organize
the information mind maps would be beneficial. Mind maps are a way to put your ideas together
and sort information into paragraphs in order to compile a paper (MacKay, 1997). For those who
do not prefer mind maps another option would be using linear notes. Linear notes simply means
leaving room in the margin for the student to write down facts he/she feels important (MacKay,
1997). MacKay elaborates that teaching dyslexic students study skills proves that thinking and
reasoning skills can shine even though their basic skills may be a

My next offensive argument is that the Catholic Church creates a space of hypocrisy by publicizing
one theme of morality but practicing whatever they like through alteration or blatant ignoring of
religious tradition within the clerical order with the intent on making money instead of upholding
doctrine. This hypocrisy extends to religious vows that were blatantly ignored by the clergy in the
past, and do so now with more secrecy. It is Cannon Law that competent authority of the Church
must take vows of the evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty, obedience, and charity (Catholic
Canonists). Meanwhile, in the past as seen by the previously mentioned criticisms of Pope
Alexander VI s use of great wealth to help seize the papacy and the modern Bishop of Bling shows
that both the vows of poverty and obedience to those vows are explicitly ignored by those who
are supposed to enforce them. As far as chastity goes, Pope Alexander IV had four, possibly
more, very public children with a mistress that he was able to legitimize and use for his own
political ventures, as well as two other mistresses he had while serving as pope, blatantly ignoring
the vow of chastity (Murphy). In more recent days the Catholic Church sex scandal of pedophilic
priests and Cardinals shows not only an air of disobedience and sexual immorality, but that the
insubordination of the clergy hasn t stopped since the more primitive days but has

Drugs are a problem of epidemic proportions. They kill and destroy lives. In the 5 years leading
up to the trial of Manual Antonio Noriega, cocaine related deaths increased nationwide by 500
percent, and heroin related deaths in the United States increased 64 percent[4]. Drugs are also a
major cause of infant fatalities and birth defects. A study of 95 children who died before the age
of 5 shows that in three quarters of those cases, at least one of the parent?s abuse drugs. In 1987,
the New York?s Harlem Hospital, one of the few hospitals in New York Sate to keep detailed
figures declared that over 400 babies tested positive for drugs at birth[5]. In addition, it was
estimated that in one day, 5,000 Americans will use cocaine or crack for the very first time and at
least 20 million Americans have already tried cocaine while at least 1 million Americans are addicts.
As a result of statistics such as those presented above, President Reagan declared a ?war on drugs?
in the early 1980?s. In 1983, Congress enacted the Rangel Gilman Hawkins amendment. This
amendment requires the State Department annually to report on the efforts of major drug exporting
countries. In theory, these reports would act to curtail production. If a country fails to make
reasonable efforts at curtailment, the sanction is the loss of economic aid. In March of 1988, the
State Department reported to the President as the act required, however, the report only

THE ROAD PAST ALTAMONT
Book Analysis
Theme: Evolution of mother and daughter relationship
A book The Road Past Altamont by Gabrielle Roy was first published in French in the year 1966
(Dillman, 115). The subject of the book penetrates to the heart of a Child s in depth world, forming
a subtle, yet considerable linkage of impressions, feelings, and relationships. The nous style of the
writer Roy, whose literature imitates her infantile on the Canadian steppe, has often been compared
with others. The book entails the four significant stories which are related to the young girl named
Christine, from the period for her innocence to maturity. According to the understanding of this
book, the purpose of this piece of literature is to make others understand the importance and power
of the development of the relationship between a mother and a daughter. Moreover, in her writing,
Gabrielle Roy allowed nothing peripheral or false to stand, according to many. The four allied
stories divulge reflective moments during her early years in the massiveness of Manitoba. However,
all the mentioned characters and events express writer s obsession with childhood till the old age,
the passage of the time as well as the mystery of change, and the artist s relation to the world.
After the reading of this book The Road Past Altamont , there are many various themes which can
be related to it. A relevant and related theme of the book can be the evolution

they will receive; but is based on one s inputs, efforts, experience, education, and competence.
Employees can compare equity ratios to ensure fair treatment; and when treated fairly employees

Also, the organization will gain creativity, new insight, and reliance on other team members. Lastly,
to reenergize the Scanlon Plan, management must incorporate new intrinsic and extrinsic to ways to
motivate employees. Intrinsic to reflect the natural human propensity to learn and assimilate and
extrinsic to reflect external control or true self regulation.

To His Coy Mistress Poem Meaning
Living a life of regrets is not expectable in To His Coy Mistress it is considered not living a life at
all. The speaker reminds me of my boyfriend, Morgan. They both speak the same language except
the speaker comes from lust and Morgan comes from love. He constantly advises me to make the
most of the present and give little thought to the future. Creating the relationship I have with him is
a decision I will never regret. Andrew Marvelldemonstrates in To His Coy Mistress that the
influences of love, carpe diem, and death urge us to live a more fulfilled life. Love works in
mysterious ways. I ve known the love of my life since birth, and I never thought he would be the
one. However, he s always brought out the best in me, and he does not pressure me to be... Show

We must focus on expression carpe diem. The speaker uses references to the Bible Love you ten
years before the flood (8) to show her that if Noah would have waited for the flood all of God s
creation would have died. Noah did not hesitate when making his decision or worry about what
his future consequences could be. Noah trusted God; therefore, he ended up living a prosperous
life with no regrets. If I live the rest of my life second guessing myself and doing the same thing
every day; I will never understand the true meaning of carpe diem. The speaker uses carpe diem
and death to influence her into his pants. He exclaims that then worms shall try That long
persevered virginity (27 28) if she does not have sex with him now before she dies. The only
thing going inside her will be worms. This grotesque image is repulsing. I do not see myself
running into arms of a man who thought of these horrific images. I would regret having sex with
him more than I would regret not having sex with him. If the speaker promised me a marriage in
the future. I would be willing to go against my moral values. However, the speaker shows no

Ammaniti’s Novel, I’m Not Scared Essay
This is a profoundly moral tale of lost innocence and adult cruelty. Do you agree?
Ammaniti s novel I m Not Scared set in Acqua Traverse, Italy 1978 is a powerful text, which
explores relevant social themes and issues. Besides being a tale of adult cruelty and lost innocence
we cannot ignore the role in which loyalty and betrayal play in the novel. These central themes
make this novel a compelling text.
In the novel Michelle journeys from a joyful innocent child into a perceptive and wiser youth.
Initially we view Michelle as a child who is very compassionate, willing to do the forfeit for
Barbara to exempt her from Skull s cruelty. As the story progresses qualities namely courage and
loyalty surface in Michelle. These two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that the adults in the village have children of their own yet are capable of such cruelty. The author
portrays Fillipo as identical to Michelle in age and height, the intended effect is to draw parallels
with Michelle and show that Fillipo is like any other nine year old.
Loyalty and betrayal occurs frequently in the text. Michelle is loyal to Fillipo, he is willing to
break a promise he made on my fathers head . He realises the suffering Fillipo endures and forms
a bond. He admits openly towards the end of the text that Fillipo is a friend of mine . Betrayal is
also a prominent theme in the story. To key instances of betrayal occur, the first being Salvatore
s betrayal of Michelle. Secondly we also must view Pino s betrayal of his family. Salvatore s
betrayal was a heart wrenching experience for Michelle. Michelle is beaten by Felice but it is his
heart which hurts most, Salvatore had broken it . Some readers feel that Michelle betrayed Pino
however it has to be said that Pino despite having the best intentions for his family ultimately
betrayed them. He was the one who chose to pursue the kidnapping, he did not serve the family

Buy Nothing Day Environmental Analysis
Since 1992, an annual Buy Nothing Day has been held in many countries to show people the
detrimental effects of overconsumption. This event often coincides with Black Friday―the prime
time for eager shoppers after Thanksgiving festivities. The term Black Friday originated from a
financial crisis in the late 1800s, but that memory changed to display one of busy roads, packed
department stores, and post Thanksgiving chaos (Pruitt). In order to raise awareness, supporters of
Buy Nothing Dayargued that events like Black Friday cause damage to the economy and

retail worker happiness (TheBalance). Since there are people who will shop on Black Friday
regardless, Buy Nothing Day may not be a permanent solution to overconsumption, but it could be
the first step. The Mall of America, one of the largest shopping malls in the country, closed its
doors on Thanksgiving to allow time for employees to spend time with their families (CNBC). If
other retail leaders follow this example, Buy Nothing Day can become a reality. The more people

1. What is meant by the postmodern condition ? Postmodernism can be called a condition of
contemporary culture , it is a modern movement which is strong, ambiguous, very popular and
controversial. However, it is very difficult to explain the term because there is no full clarity what
the term really means. As one can read in The Condition of Postmodernityit is a mine field of

many interpretations, definitions and evaluations of the term that it is hardly possible to build a

One of the hyperreality images and the world of imagination (Baudrillard writes) is Disneyland,
which is the perfect model of all those confusing orders of simulation. It is primarily a game of
illusions and phantasms. Imaginary world of Disneyland is neither true nor false. It is a space of
regeneration of the world of imagination, reminiscent of a recycling factory. Thus, the world of
the imagination of children and adults is a rubbish, the first great civilization hyper real pollution.
Disneyland is a prototype of this new feature on the mental area. As one can read in Simulacra
and Simulation It is no longer a question of a false representation of reality (ideology) but of
concealing the fact that the real is no longer real, and thus of saving the reality principle .
Another example of flipping a deeper reality by its overriding, and then hiding its deficiencies,
through breaking any relations with it and finally achieving the status of its simulacrum,
completely emancipated from the power of what is real is the Sokal hoax. Sokal saw a marked
reduction in the standards of intellectual reliability in some American humanistic academic circles.
That is why he decided to do the experiment , which consisted in checking whether the leading
American journal dedicated to cultural research will publish a text full of nonsense, if it only sound

The Causes And Effects Of The Enslavement Of Africa
There were a lot of causes of the enslavement of Africans but the effects that it left had a much
bigger impact, even in our lives today. In fact the effects caused by the Africans enslavement are
still somewhat around to this day. Some are even huge political issues that consume our country
and its social structure. The causes of all this started way back in the Atlantic world, from the 15
to 1850 s, when traders and colonists went to Africa and took Africans out of their societies. When
the Americas were first settled they began to fish and hunt and eventually learned how to farm.
However these farmers could not tend to all of these fields all by themselves, they needed workers.
Soon they found out that there had already been slavery... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also the fact that their skin color was different was another deciding reason they chose them. For
example if they run away they couldn t just blend in with the people of the community and get
out of working for their master. Also there was already slavery in Africa so there were plenty of
slaves already they just needed to bring them to America. But the Europeans weren t the only
ones trying to take advantage of the African slaves, so were the muslims. However the Muslims
weren t nearly as harsh on their slaves as the Europeans were. They let their slaves have
freedoms and rights and even allowed them ways to get out of slavery. Such as marrying into the
owner s family or into someone else s. As for the Europeans slaves, they had no rights, barely
any food, and terrible living conditions. Along with that they used the gang system as for how
they divided the work among the slaves, while the Muslims slaves had the task system which
meant they did the job assigned and had time to do whatever they wanted as long as they stayed
on the property and didn t go against any of their masters rules. As a result of the African slave trade
, the african societies they took them from had been left in ruins. There was no one left for there
to be any societies anymore. Some slaves were taken by force so there was most likely some
physical damage to their structures as well. Also many of the slaves they had were beaten to death

The scene was set with fog with blue and purple tones with her weary high pitched voice coming
from the unknown at first, ultimately holds our attention in suspense. It was visually haunting
as she looked like a corpse in rags. Another thing I noticed in the banquet scene a female
performer comes in to entertain Macbeth and does a dance with a mask. Throughout the dance
she is holding two other masks and alternately covers her face with them as she swirls, bends and
crosses the stage. The masks change with such fluidity you would hardly notice, even the type
of masks and the character they express; happy, fearful and angry. For me she was almost telling
Macbeths prophecy. All of the elements of this production made it a continuous seamless, ever
growing, rhythmic sweep , especially the final scene when Au Shu is up on his perch telling his
soldiers they cannot lose as the prophet told him so, unless the forest moves. It was then that his
own soldiers fire arrows at him creating a slow death with Au Shu doing a back flip from a
raised level to stage level in full view. It was incredible and symbolized his fall from grace. His

see Macbeth had gone mad. It was certainly a tragedy, from start to finish the psychological and
emotional values were apparent. Even though the play was in Taiwanese and the subtitles were

This, therefore, shows an unequal distribution of wealth because ethnic minorities are unable to
have the same jobs as white people. However, some sociologists believe that ethnic minorities aren t
always exposed to unequal opportunities. For example, ethnic discrimination can occur without any
racist motive (Wrench, J 2015). To illustrate there is a type of discrimination called past in present
discrimination, which is where patterns of inequality will persist over more than one generation,
even if the current discrimination has been removed. Thus, employers may indirectly discriminate
against ethnic minorities it may not be a case of people seeing ethnic minorities as less powerful

be able to minimize the negative impact of belonging to a disadvantaged racial group if they re

Alternative Dispute Resolution And Arbitration Essay
Interest Arbitration In a situation where a dispute cannot be settled by the parties involved, there is

opportunities to seek Alternative Dispute Resolutions. Alternative Dispute Resolutions are used
widely around the in the United in place of litigation. There are many types of Alternative Dispute

Interest arbitration is used when an issue is not resolved in bargaining between the employer and

person who is judging someone. If you are not like everyone in your society group, those people
don t except you. Nowadays our society feels that if you aren t up to people s expectations, you are
known to be an outsider . Being an outsider is universal because not everyone is social, not
everyone can afford nice things and not everyone is popular. In our society everyone expects to be
the same, however, no one is ever going to be the exact same. Everyone has different beliefs and
different interests. Today people judge the nice stuff people can afford and the way people dress. In
the story, The Doll s House , there were two girls known as the Kelvey sisters and they were really
poor. They were dressed in bits given to her by the people for whom she worked (Mansfield 203).
Nowadays people judge you on appearance and if you are dressed sloppy you are more likely to be
made fun of. If you cannot afford the up to date things people have a reason that they don t want
to talk to you. If you are wealthy you are more likely to be judgmental. Not all people are like this

What Is The War Of The Roses
The Wars of the Roses were a series of battles fought in medieval England from 1455 to 1485
between the House of York and The House of Lancaster. The name of these battles was not given
until many years after it was finished. They were named by the badges of the fighting parties; the
white rose of York and the red rose of Lancaster. Both houses were descendants of King Edward
III so this might have been one of the main causes of this conflict. Also, many barons resented the
way that the Lancaster family had seized the throne in 1399 and felt that Henry V, IV or VI were
not the rightful kings. Henry Tudor arrived at Milford Haven on 7 August in an attempt to claim the
throne of England. He gathered supporters on his journey through Wales, and

Hillary Clinton Sexism Essay
America is a country that prides itself on equal opportunity for all. However, the results of the
recent presidential election have demonstrated a major disparity in the equality of that opportunity.
Donald Trump, with almost no political qualifications, beat out Hillary Clinton, a highly qualified
individual, for the presidency. In addition, many scandals were attached to the Trump campaign,
mainly his disparaging comments against women. The success of his campaign, after all the
scandals, can be attributed to sexism in the general American population. Ingrained sexism in
American society constituted a major reason as to why Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election.
Women are often seen as less competent than men, even when they are equally qualified. The
number of women holding political office in the United States is dismal. Women, while... Show

In a study analyzing word connotation in over 50 thousand tweets mentioning the Twitter handle
@HillaryClinton, several of the words with negative connotation refer to Bill Clinton and
Monica Lewinsky, rather than Mrs. Clinton herself. Mr. Trump has also mentioned the
infidelities of Mr. Clinton multiple times when discussing the election. However, the many sexist
and sexual comments made by Mr. Trump himself, while met with backlash, failed to sink his
campaign. The vast majority of voters, 70 percent, said that Donald Trump s behavior towards
women was a problem. In spite of this, 30 percent of the people who said that voted for Trump.
While many people saw Mr. Trump s actions as inappropriate, they did not see them as affecting
his leadership abilities. However, the actions of Bill Clinton were taken into account in Hillary
Clinton s campaign, even focused on almost as much as her own

Osteoporosis Essay
Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of bone tissues,
leading to bone fragility and, consequently, an increase in fracture risk. The term osteoporosis
comes from the Greek word osteon , meaning bone, and porus , meaning pore or passage.
Osteoporosis literally makes bones porous. The amount of calcium stored in human bones decreases
over time, causing the skeleton to weaken.
Demographics
The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) estimates that
10 million people (8 million women and 2 million men) in the United States have osteoporosis as of
2009, with another 34 million adults having low bone density, a condition called osteopenia.
Osteopenia can develop into osteoporosis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Calcium is critically involved in muscle contraction, nerve impulse transmission, and many
metabolic activities within cells. To remain healthy, the body must keep the level of free
calcium ions (Ca2+) within a very narrow concentration range. Besides providing a framework
for the body, bone acts as a calcium bank. When excess calcium is present in the blood,
osteoblasts deposit it into bones where it is stored. When too little calcium is present,
osteoblasts dissolve calcium from bones and move it into the blood. This process is controlled
mainly by parathyroid hormone (PTH) secreted by the parathyroid glands in the neck. As people
age, various conditions cause them to take more calcium out of the bone bank than they deposit,
and osteoporosis (which literally means porous bones) eventually develops. A person s peak
bone mass and the rate at which they lose it in later life affects their risk of developing
osteoporosis; the higher the peak bone mass at age 30, the lower the risk of osteoporosis later on.
Doctors divide osteoporosis into three categories or types. Types 1 and 2 are considered primary
because they are not caused by other diseases or conditions. Type 3 osteoporosis is sometimes
called secondary osteoporosis because it results from taking certain drugs or having other

Native American Analysis
Always historicize! This famous dictum becomes the trigger for anyone who wants to have an
investigation by looking at the significance of historical dimension of a text. Such investigation
also examines the cultural and social objects in a larger social relation. As history is the key, the
investigation further goes to use it in order to restore and reshape our perspectives on a particular
text. This is not to say that after finding the connection our analysis is done, but it actually goes
beyond that. The assumption that a text reflects what is in the society, is enriched and explored
more by using Jameson s critical investigation. Such framework of analysis enables us to see more.

Fish Industry In Louisiana
The two of the biggest commodities in Louisiana are the fish industry, and the oil industry. As
the oil industry began to grow, BP s power started to grow in Louisiana. This provided jobs for
Louisiana residents and put food on the table. BP started by drilling in about twelve feet of
water, but as technology grew they pushed out to deeper depths. By the 1970s, BP was one of
the top oil companies in the area, taking the biggest risks by drilling the deepest. By taking this
risk, it produced massive profits for BP. It also produced the worst safety records from an oil
company ever recorded. Over the years, BP s safety record results became worse. Furthermore, BP
changed their image and renamed their company to Beyond Petroleum, trying

John Paul The Great
Spider man is a well loved superhero that has filled the childhood of many young men and
women. Most people are familiar with his story; a nerdy boy who gets bit by a radioactive
spider and becomes a superhero. Initially he begins his work wanting to help people, but as the
story progresses he begins looking for suites that will make him stronger and faster. This is when
he finds the Venom costume. Unfortunately, the costume has a mind of its own, and it slowly
corrupts Peter Parkers mind and makes him into what he never wanted to be in the first place. The
more power Peter Parker had, the more focused on himself he became and the less able to be the
superherohe had set out to be. This is a common theme throughout history; the second a person
takes their eyes off of the people they are leading and focuses instead on being faster and stronger,
is the second that they fail as a leader. Pope Saint John Paul the Great is a wonderful example of
what leadership aught to look like an example of loving and putting others first, and ultimately
leading them closer to Christ.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Madame Bovary Critical Analysis
The tragedy of Madame Bovary is in both the product and the commentary of life back in the 19th

Anne Hutchinson s Words and Their Later Significance Essay
Anne Hutchinson s Words and Their Later Significance
Anne Hutchinson, on trial for apparently nothing more than leading religious discussions at her
house, is subjected to belittlement and unclear, if not unfounded, accusations in The Examination
of Mrs. Anne Hutchinson at the Court at Newton. The trial, which took place in 1637, set a
standard for the future treatment of women, and subsequently their speech and writing. Because of
the way the prosecution pigeonholes Hutchinson into admitting her guilt, the reverends (and thus
men) gain (or keep) power over women the power to control their women and to interpret contrived
meanings from their words.
From the start of the proceedings, it is clear that Hutchinson s only crime is ... Show more content

Though she has broken a commandment in the court s eyes, there are countless ways to dishonor
the parents without breaking the law. By bearing false witness against Hutchinson, Winthrop is
breaking a commandment (and in so doing, dishonoring his parents). Hutchinson is only asking for
a clear explanation of the charges against her, but is never given a satisfactory answer. During the
questioning, Hutchinson is quick with her answers, but her evident logic is not enough to keep the
court from modifying its arguments:
Mrs. H. I think I may. Do you think it not lawful for me to teach women and why do you call me
to teach the court? Gov. We do not call you to teach the court but to lay open yourself. Mrs. H. I
desire you that you would set me down a rule by which I may put them away that come unto me
and so have peace in so doing. Gov. You must shew your rule to receive them. Mrs. H. I have done
it. Gov. I deny it because I have brought more arguments than you have (315). The court calls for
Hutchinson to lay herself open, but she has clearly already done so. When Winthrop argues that his
argument has more weight than hers because of quantity, he has done nothing but condemn
himself. She has to say less to defend herself because she has done no wrong; the prosecution has
wrought more accusations because none have

My Multilingual Reality
My Multilingual Reality (Eerika 9A)
The ability to speak and understand more than one language has always been respected and praised.
Most people dream of being multilingual and being able to travel the world and not have trouble
with understanding the culture or media in a foreign country. There may be some difficulties that
come with being multilingual, but in most cases, the advantages overweigh them. I was born in
Finland, have lived in Finland for most of my life, and know four other languages aside from
Finnish. In my experience, multilingualism is definitely more of a blessing than a curse.
English has been a part of my life since the beginning of my educational career. The language of my
education has always been English, and even though I am Finnish and from a Finnish family, my
English has been my strongest language for almost ten years now. It is easiest for me to

The Economics Of Renewable Energy
This paper reports on the microeconomic aspect of obtaining the energy that is present in the
environment. A number of factors including the rapidly growing demand for energy to fuel
economic development, the need by countries to diversify their energy production into
environmentally sustainable supply sources while concurrently taking into careful consideration
climate change, energy security and economic factors have all served to greatly contribute towards
the current accelerated private and public investment in renewable energy. While numerous
countries around the world have been able to design attractive incentive structures that aim at
inducing private investment in obtaining the renewable energy that is present in the environment,...

The cost of producing renewable energy from the environment has undergone a significant
decrease of the past 15 20 years as a result of drastic enhancements in not only the economies of
scale, but also the technology that is related to production. Renewable energy s future prospects are
noted to be even more promising in light of the continually falling costs involved in producing this
energy as well as the growing awareness of the energy and environmental security benefits that
these technologies provide.
Renewable energies have variously been defined as those energies that are easily derived from
simple natural process and can be constantly replenished from these sources without exhausting
these sources. This form of energy is usually derived either indirectly or directly from the sun or
from the geothermal heat that is that present from deep within the earth (Jordan Korte, 2011).
The growing global concerns pertaining to the issue of climate change and the effect that this is
having on the planet have led to growing interest in the renewable energy technologies. This is
exemplified by the fact that a number of industrialized countries have over the years moved to make
significant investments in developing countries aimed at developing renewable energy sources
under the provisions of the Clean Development Mechanism that was included in the Kyoto Protocol
(UNEP, 2008). Developing countries are investing in renewable

The monster reveals that he knows the duty that a creator has towards his creation, and that
Frankenstein has not fulfilled any duty towards his creature. He continues to rebuke his creator
and reminds the latter of their duties to one another. He proposes, I am thy creature, and I will
be even mild a docile to my natural lord and king, if thou wilt perform thy part, the which thou
owest me...Remember, that I am thy creature; I ought to be thy Adam, but I am rather the fallen
angel, whom thou drivest from joy for no misdeed, (Shelley, p. 69). He offers a chance to fix
their relationship, but he also reprimands Frankenstein for denying him at first. Again, the monster
refers back to the book he found to compare to and argue that Victor has a duty to provide for him.
He recalls the past few years of his life that he lived alone and criticizes,
No Eve soothed my sorrows nor shared my thoughts; I was alone. I remembered Adam s
supplication to his
Creator. But where was mine? He had abandoned me, and in the bitterness of my heart I cursed
him...I am an unfortunate and deserted creature; I look around, and I have no relation or friend

The CINAHL Heading search allows the search of literature with certain terms desired in the references. By typing hand washing under the CINAHL Heading and browsed, I was given terms that were related to hand washing. The terms were ranked based on the relevancy of importance related to the subject. • 3. Magna Carta Thesis The Magna Carta is a document that holds significance in the foundation of the United States of America, despite its British origins. Conceived as a peace treaty to alleviate political unrest in 1215, the Magna Carta, which is Latin for The Great Charter, declared that all people, including King John of England, are subject to the rule of law. Regarding its original purpose as a peace treaty, the Magna Carta was not as effective in 1215 as it became in 1225 under King Henry III. It was during this era that the Magna Carta s message of justice, fairness, and freedom had a substantial influence on King Henry III s subjects. These core values epitomize several rights based declarations around the world. Particularly, there has been international... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 532). The creation of the Bill of Rights mirrored the demands of British rebels during the King John era. The extrapolation of the Magna Carta for the United States Bill of Rights is rather ironic because Americans based their resistance mainly on the rights they shared with Britons in Britain not to be taxed without their own consent, rights that they traced back to Magna Carta (Conway, n.d.). By crafting a document that had already been revered by the same leadership by different subjects, the Americans forced the British government to either comply or submit to hypocrisy. Ultimately, it was through this strategic diplomacy as well as well fought battles throughout the 13 colonies that allowed Americans to eventually benefit from a decent ... • 4. Rhetorical Devices In Jfk Inaugural Speech On January 20 of 1961, John F. Kennedy took the stage and received the honor of becoming the President of the United States. At this time, throughout the world we were locked into constant issues, such as the Cold War. This put us in a headlock with Russia because neither side was willing to press the button and release the bombs. Kennedy stood on the platform and swore to us in his inaugural speech that he would keep us, the public, safe and end these conflicts that we were tangled in. Rhetorical devices became his ally as he tries to establish trust and hope for himself through the hearts of the audience. In the first section of the speech, Kennedy celebrates the deep history of America and promises to continue to uphold the ideal we were founded on. The metaphor the torch has been passed on to a new generation of Americans reminds his audience of the rich past of the country and the duty this generation has to uphold it. This metaphor is very poignant because the torch holders in expeditions are extremely vital to the safety and success of the people on the journey. So when he stated that it has been passed on to us, you get the feeling that a really important job has been given to us and that we must work hard not to let anyone down. In the same idea, the torch is also being given to Kennedy as he takes on the role of the President. So we can view it as us all holding a torch with Kennedy heading the group as we strive to carve a path through the darkness of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Kellogg s Special K Advertising arketing and the media effect on young people s decisions significantly. This is largely through the use of marketing strategies and advertising techniques which play on several key factors in order to win over their intended audience. These factors include trends, bandwagon, claims, association, promotion, as well as appeal and many others. By employing these strategies companies aim to coax, even sometimes completely mislead young people into buying their products. This is evident in the Kellogg s Special K advertisement. Throughout the advertisement, a variety of techniques are used to entice the audience in this case young women into buying the product. For instance, in the ad bright colours such as red and pink are worn by the female actors in contrast with dull, fruitless white walls. This captures/retains the viewer s attention, directing it towards the actors slim, idealistic physiques. Consequently, the advertisement creates an image that those who eat Special K enjoy an ideal body, thus establishing appeal for the product from many young women. Another example of marketing strategies during the ad is the use of pathos (emotional appeal). For instance, the ad slogan you don t just wake up looking fabulous implies that the viewer needs Special K to do so, appealing yet again to the viewer s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The former of these techniques is clear when a short, slow motion recording of milk being poured into a perfect bowl of Special K is shown. This perfect bowl has most likely been altered in order to stop the cereal from becoming soggy and unappetising, and the footage edited to make the cereal look aesthetically pleasing. Also, the music accompanying the commercial is upbeat and catchy helping to establish the key theme of fabulousness , as well as solidify the ad in the viewer s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Bloodstream Infection Paper Reducing Hospital Acquired Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter Bloodstream Infections Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) can be used for routine patient care for treatment and have been increasingly used over the past years. They are more invasive than a peripheral intravenous line (PIV); however, they can be inserted at the bedside, are easily removed, and provide many positive benefits. PICCs relieve patients from frequent venipuncture for serial lab draws, decreases frequent re starts of PIVs, and the patient can be discharged home, if needed, for continued IV therapy. Although there are benefits to these easily inserted central lines, central line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) are a possibility (Dumont Nessselrodt, 2012). Problem PICCs are frequently used on medical floors and intensive care units (ICUs) for further management of patient care. These central lines, however, put patients at a high risk for CLABSI (Kusek, 2012). According to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... CLABSI is considered a preventable event, yet it is still a persistent problem across the U.S. Utilizing CLABSI bundles can significantly reduce this issue. Components of the CLABSI bundle include hand hygiene, antiseptic and sterile techniques, and prompt removal of catheters (McAlearney et al., 2015). CLABSI bundles should be introduced to nursing staff and more importantly, implemented. A few common barriers to implementing CLABSI bundle practices include inadequate nurse to patient ratios, inadequate education, and lack of leadership support (Kusek, 2012). Along with initiating the CLABSI bundle, a study conducted in the Calabria region of Italy, demonstrated that formal training, written policies, years of experience and practice, and a positive attitude towards CLABSI prevention are also important aspects in avoiding this infection (Bianco, Coscarelli, Nobile, Pileggi, Pavia, ... • 7. British Colonialism Essay example The study of British colonialism is a rather new field with much to discuss and a lot more to debate. The recent recognition of new nation states that were once under the control of Britain was a growing phenomenon and one that continues to play a large role in today s global politics. Since the rather recent period of these new nations, new study s have been done into the history of a) the peoples that inhabited the land before Britain, b) the way Britain occupied and control and land, and now c) post Britain. This is a growing topic in the historical field because seventy five years ago there was no thought that Britain would relieve control of India or Nigeria. That is why post British colonialism is important to today, because it is a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1300 British men died and was evidently the worst British defeat at the hands of a native power in the history of its empire. This was played down by the British crown as nothing more than a minor skirmish, however, since the fall of the British empire, historians have done their share of reviewing, analyzing and critiquing the battle and why is ended in such disaster for the British. The first major piece of work to be written about the Anglo Zulu war, with a small chapter devoted to the battle of Isandlwana, is called The History of the Zulu War and Its Origin by Frances Ellen Colenso. Written in 1880, one year after the war concluded, Colenso wrote in a Pro nationalist focus. He applauds the camp tactics employed by Lord Chelmsford, General of British Forces in South Africa and Natal, and does in no way seem to dislike or question the Generals commands. As stated above, this a very short chapter in a very large book. There are thirty pages devoted to Isandlwana in a book of over 400 pages. The thesis of the book is However insufficient the result may prove, we shall at least hope that our work may give some slight assistance to the maintenance of which alone can ensure the true honour of the British name . The way the book was written, it is a very pro British book with emphasis on helping the British reputation. The book does leave out a lot of important details because it is written one year after the event. Reading it, the book ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Does Hockey Change Throughout The Novel Saul s shifts in understandings, strategies and approaches to hockey relate to his evolution of his character as they mark his state of recovery in the novel. Throughout the entirety of the novel Saul becomes angrier no longer playing his clean game of hockey because he is using hockey as a form of release for his treatment at the residential school. At the start of the novel hockey was an escape for Saul. He was able to use it to get away from the grim reality of the real world. Throughout the poem, she recalls various memories of her child committing actions without fearing the possible consequences. The Effects Of Acne Among Teens With Acne Imagine sitting in the middle of class with a throbbing pain in the middle of your forehead, not being able to concentrate on what the teacher is saying because the pain is all that is totally consuming your mind like a dog that has not eaten in weeks. Many teens are affected with acne not only in the United States but all over the world. They are crippled by the red, puss filled craters all over their faces and bodies. Scared to go out in public with the fear of someone making a joke about their acne, like calling them pizza face. Not all people are affected by the shame but the ones who are, are stuck in this never ending cycle that we call acne. Always worrying about when a pimple will pop up and ruin their entire day, maybe even their entire week. There are many causes of acne among teens, how it affects the teens with acne, and what teens can do to try and help the acne that is riddling their skinto disappear. Approximately eighty five percent of people between the ages of twelve to twenty five experience some form of acne. The most common type of acne that teens get is called acne vulgaris. This just means that the pimples can show up on the face, neck, shoulders, upper back, and chest. There are glands in the human skin that are called sebaceous glands that secrete sebum. Sebum is an oil in the skin that lubricates your hair and skin to prevent them from drying out. When the glands sometimes produce too much sebum or too many dead skin cells it can cause clogged ... Dyslexia Teaching Understanding Dyslexia: Defining, Identifying, and Teaching Research suggests that while there is no cure for Dyslexia, students can adapt through multi sensory instruction and become successful members of society (Allen, 2010). In order to instruct students with dyslexia, it is crucial that educators understand what dyslexiais, what causes it, and the steps to identifying a student who struggles with readingand shows signs of dyslexia (Allen, 2010). According to Allen (2010), of those who have identified as having a learning disability, 80% are affected by a reading disability. In order to make students with dyslexia feel more comfortable about reading there are a few steps to follow. While telling students to read a book and then write a paper on it may seem like basic instructions, to a student with dyslexia that could seem like a nightmare. MacKay presents a few steps to follow when reading which include: title, captions, pictures, questions, and reading. This is very beneficial to a student with dyslexia because his /her brain needs tasks to be broken down otherwise they will feel like they are out of memory (MacKay, 1997). There are many organizational tools that are helpful when reading or categorizing information. Brainstorming is a great tool because no organization is required, it is simply just putting thoughts on paper (MacKay, 1997). When timing is appropriate to organize the information mind maps would be beneficial. Mind maps are a way to put your ideas together and sort information into paragraphs in order to compile a paper (MacKay, 1997). For those who do not prefer mind maps another option would be using linear notes. Linear notes simply means leaving room in the margin for the student to write down facts he/she feels important (MacKay, 1997). My next offensive argument is that the Catholic Church creates a space of hypocrisy by publicizing one theme of morality but practicing whatever they like through alteration or blatant ignoring of religious tradition within the clerical order with the intent on making money instead of upholding doctrine. This hypocrisy extends to religious vows that were blatantly ignored by the clergy in the past, and do so now with more secrecy. It is Cannon Law that competent authority of the Church must take vows of the evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty, obedience, and charity (Catholic Canonists). Meanwhile, in the past as seen by the previously mentioned criticisms of Pope Alexander VI s use of great wealth to help seize the papacy and the modern Bishop of Bling shows that both the vows of poverty and obedience to those vows are explicitly ignored by those who are supposed to enforce them. As far as chastity goes, Pope Alexander IV had four, possibly more, very public children with a mistress that he was able to legitimize and use for his own political ventures, as well as two other mistresses he had while serving as pope, blatantly ignoring the vow of chastity (Murphy). In the 5 years leading up to the trial of Manual Antonio Noriega, cocaine related deaths increased nationwide by 500 percent, and heroin related deaths in the United States increased 64 percent[4]. Drugs are also a major cause of infant fatalities and birth defects. A study of 95 children who died before the age of 5 shows that in three quarters of those cases, at least one of the parent?s abuse drugs. In 1987, the New York?s Harlem Hospital, one of the few hospitals in New York Sate to keep detailed figures declared that over 400 babies tested positive for drugs at birth[5]. It is a space of regeneration of the world of imagination, reminiscent of a recycling factory. Thus, the world of the imagination of children and adults is a rubbish, the first great civilization hyper real pollution. Disneyland is a prototype of this new feature on the mental area. As one can read in Simulacra and Simulation It is no longer a question of a false representation of reality (ideology) but of concealing the fact that the real is no longer real, and thus of saving the reality principle . Another example of flipping a deeper reality by its overriding, and then hiding its deficiencies, through breaking any relations with it and finally achieving the status of its simulacrum, completely emancipated from the power of what is real is the Sokal hoax. Sokal saw a marked reduction in the standards of intellectual reliability in some American humanistic academic circles. • 30. The Causes And Effects Of The Enslavement Of Africa There were a lot of causes of the enslavement of Africans but the effects that it left had a much bigger impact, even in our lives today. In fact the effects caused by the Africans enslavement are still somewhat around to this day. Some are even huge political issues that consume our country and its social structure. The causes of all this started way back in the Atlantic world, from the 15 to 1850 s, when traders and colonists went to Africa and took Africans out of their societies. When the Americas were first settled they began to fish and hunt and eventually learned how to farm. However these farmers could not tend to all of these fields all by themselves, they needed workers. Soon they found out that there had already been slavery... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also the fact that their skin color was different was another deciding reason they chose them. For example if they run away they couldn t just blend in with the people of the community and get out of working for their master. Also there was already slavery in Africa so there were plenty of slaves already they just needed to bring them to America. But the Europeans weren t the only ones trying to take advantage of the African slaves, so were the muslims. However the Muslims weren t nearly as harsh on their slaves as the Europeans were. They let their slaves have freedoms and rights and even allowed them ways to get out of slavery. Such as marrying into the owner s family or into someone else s. As for the Europeans slaves, they had no rights, barely any food, and terrible living conditions. Along with that they used the gang system as for how they divided the work among the slaves, while the Muslims slaves had the task system which meant they did the job assigned and had time to do whatever they wanted as long as they stayed on the property and didn t go against any of their masters rules. As a result of the African slave trade , the african societies they took them from had been left in ruins. There was no one left for there to be any societies anymore. Some slaves were taken by force so there was most likely some physical damage to their structures as well. Also many of the slaves they had were beaten to death or worked to ... Throughout the dance she is holding two other masks and alternately covers her face with them as she swirls, bends and crosses the stage. The masks change with such fluidity you would hardly notice, even the type of masks and the character they express; happy, fearful and angry. For me she was almost telling Macbeths prophecy. All of the elements of this production made it a continuous seamless, ever growing, rhythmic sweep , especially the final scene when Au Shu is up on his perch telling his soldiers they cannot lose as the prophet told him so, unless the forest moves. It was then that his own soldiers fire arrows at him creating a slow death with Au Shu doing a back flip from a raised level to stage level in full view. It was incredible and symbolized his fall from grace. His own soldiers took Macbeths head and brought it to the rebel army to save themselves as they could see Macbeth had gone mad. It was certainly a tragedy, from start to finish the psychological and emotional values were apparent. • 41. Osteoporosis Essay Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of bone tissues, leading to bone fragility and, consequently, an increase in fracture risk. The term osteoporosis comes from the Greek word osteon , meaning bone, and porus , meaning pore or passage. Osteoporosis literally makes bones porous. The amount of calcium stored in human bones decreases over time, causing the skeleton to weaken. Demographics The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) estimates that 10 million people (8 million women and 2 million men) in the United States have osteoporosis as of 2009, with another 34 million adults having low bone density, a condition called osteopenia. Osteopenia can develop into osteoporosis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Calcium is critically involved in muscle contraction, nerve impulse transmission, and many metabolic activities within cells. To remain healthy, the body must keep the level of free calcium ions (Ca2+) within a very narrow concentration range. Besides providing a framework for the body, bone acts as a calcium bank. When excess calcium is present in the blood, osteoblasts deposit it into bones where it is stored. When too little calcium is present, osteoblasts dissolve calcium from bones and move it into the blood. This process is controlled mainly by parathyroid hormone (PTH) secreted by the parathyroid glands in the neck. As people age, various conditions cause them to take more calcium out of the bone bank than they deposit, and osteoporosis (which literally means porous bones) eventually develops. A person s peak bone mass and the rate at which they lose it in later life affects their risk of developing osteoporosis; the higher the peak bone mass at age 30, the lower the risk of osteoporosis later on. Doctors divide osteoporosis into three categories or types. Types 1 and 2 are considered primary because they are not caused by other diseases or conditions. Type 3 osteoporosis is sometimes called secondary osteoporosis because it results from taking certain drugs or having other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. My Multilingual Reality My Multilingual Reality (Eerika 9A) The ability to speak and understand more than one language has always been respected and praised. Most people dream of being multilingual and being able to travel the world and not have trouble with understanding the culture or media in a foreign country. There may be some difficulties that come with being multilingual, but in most cases, the advantages overweigh them. I was born in Finland, have lived in Finland for most of my life, and know four other languages aside from Finnish. In my experience, multilingualism is definitely more of a blessing than a curse. English has been a part of my life since the beginning of my educational career. The language of my education has always been English, and even though I am Finnish and from a Finnish family, my English has been my strongest language for almost ten years now. It is easiest for me to communicate my true thoughts and feelings through English, and I think it is my main language of all. I have discovered through various accent tests that my English accent is from Northeast America, which I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After studying in English for so long, my academic Finnish has definitely deteriorated, and that could come to be a problem when I choose where to apply for higher education. I can still understand Finnish perfectly, but sometimes as I converse with other people my sentences have minor grammatical mistakes. This has proven to be quite awkward for me if I need to talk to Finnish strangers and do not remember certain words or phrases that I need to say. Even so, I am usually confident as I speak my mother tongue, because most of the time it comes naturally to me. Living in Oulu, a city in northern Finland for more than three years has made me develop and master the Oulu dialect, which can be very evident when traveling to other parts of the country, since Finnish dialects are all quite different from each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cost of producing renewable energy from the environment has undergone a significant decrease of the past 15 20 years as a result of drastic enhancements in not only the economies of scale, but also the technology that is related to production. Renewable energy s future prospects are noted to be even more promising in light of the continually falling costs involved in producing this energy as well as the growing awareness of the energy and environmental security benefits that these technologies provide. Renewable energies have variously been defined as those energies that are easily derived from simple natural process and can be constantly replenished from these sources without exhausting these sources. This form of energy is usually derived either indirectly or directly from the sun or from the geothermal heat that is that present from deep within the earth (Jordan Korte, 2011). The growing global concerns pertaining to the issue of climate change and the effect that this is having on the planet have led to growing interest in the renewable energy technologies. This is exemplified by the fact that a number of industrialized countries have over the years moved to make significant investments in developing countries aimed at developing renewable energy sources under the provisions of the Clean Development Mechanism that was included in the Kyoto Protocol (UNEP, 2008). (Shelley, p. 92) The monster reveals that he knows the duty that a creator has towards his creation, and that Frankenstein has not fulfilled any duty towards his creature. He continues to rebuke his creator and reminds the latter of their duties to one another. He proposes, I am thy creature, and I will be even mild a docile to my natural lord and king, if thou wilt perform thy part, the which thou owest me...Remember, that I am thy creature; I ought to be thy Adam, but I am rather the fallen angel, whom thou drivest from joy for no misdeed, (Shelley, p. 69). He offers a chance to fix their relationship, but he also reprimands Frankenstein for denying him at first. Again, the monster refers back to the book he found to compare to and argue that Victor has a duty to provide for him. He recalls the past few years of his life that he lived alone and criticizes, No Eve soothed my sorrows nor shared my thoughts; I was alone. I remembered Adam s supplication to his Creator. But where was mine? He had abandoned me, and in the bitterness of my heart I cursed him...I am an unfortunate and deserted creature; I look around, and I have no relation or friend upon earth...I am an outcast in the world forever. (Shelley, p. 94, 95) Frankenstein has also denied him the companionship that God gave to Adam in the garden. At the end of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
