Effective Leaders Need Emotional And Social Intelligence
1. Refer to Ex. 2.5 below (and in text). You might also refer to the ppt. slides. Effective leaders need
emotional and social intelligence to be aware of their impact on subordinates. a. Give an example of a
leader who created an out group of followers through their behaviors and traits. Identify and describe
the specific behaviors as well as the leader s major traits that prevented people from feeling like part
of the in group . What were the consequences to employees (e.g., emotions, attitudes, motivation, etc.)
and company? Former NFL head coach Buddy Ryan was known for creating tension between the
offense and defense. Coach Ryan was a defensive coordinator before becoming a head coach, so he
naturally favored the defensive unit. The out group consisted of the offensive players and coaches, and
the line between the two groups was created by negative behaviors such as only talking to the
defensive players, criticizing the offensive coaches to the media, and a general culture of us versus
them. Whenever a person is named the head coach, their main responsibility is to bring all the players
together to form one collect group. The main consequences to the employees involved being treated as
second class citizens, an unstable work environment, and a lack of positive reinforcement. b. Given
this same leader s span of control (# of people reporting to him/her), what characteristics and
behaviors could this leader change to avoid the out group and create a happier,

Analysis Of The Book The Secret Life Of Bees
Reading Response Kaitlyn Baker
The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
The biggest pull factor that brought me to reading The Secret Life of Bees, is the fact that it is set in a
time when racial separation was very much still alive in America. So when I began my journey on
reading the novel, it was quickly clear that I was going to thoroughly enjoy it. The story follows a
young white girl, Lily, whose life revolves around unravelling the faded memory of her killing her
mother, and her new life with her abusive father. It is the story of Lily blossoming into adolescence, in
a time where racial separation is still a big issue. Lily s journey to find something, anything, about her
mother s death is something I think is a large part of why this novel is so mesmerizing to read. Lily s
loyalty of trying to piece it together makes this story moving, but not depressing. I think it is uplifting,
full of heart, inspiring, and warm. I think Kidd, the author, has perfectly captured the awkward
restlessness of a teenager, longing for love, yearning to discover, but at the same time fearful of what
truth could emerge. Seeing Lily s almost desperate longing for any kind of a mother figure is
something that truly broke my heart. It made me think about how I am so blessed in my life to have
such a strong mother figure, and I hope no one has to go through life without some kind of motherly
guidance. I often got the feeling of Lily s deep desire for nurturance, which can be owed to the

Guns Do Kill People By Philip Caputo
In Guns do kill people, an article by Philip Caputo on the changes that need to be made to gun safety
and gun laws, Caputo brings to light the problem that mass destruction firearms create in our world.
Most do not understand the harm of semi automatic handguns, but as someone who has had
experience firsthand of the destruction they have, he shows the impact that is made by them. Based on
his experience with semi automatic weapons and his research of past violence in the United States,
Caputo makes a compelling argument to justify outlawing mass destruction firearms.
Caputo has had first hand experience with the harm that semi automatic firearms have. He served a
tour of duty with a Marine Rifle Company in Vietnam and was seriously wounded by an AK 47. He is
intimately aware of the design of what these weapons are meant to do. These weapons are made to kill
people; as many as possible, as quickly as possible (Caputo). According to Caputo s experience, it is
shown that he is aware of the repercussions that these weapons have and what they can do. Caputo,
being a hunter who owns shotguns and rifles, says it is prohibited to bring a weapon of mass
destruction into the fields. A semi automatic 9mm handgun is not meant to injure or severely wound, it
is meant to kill no matter what the cost. For example, the use of semi automatic firearms outside of the
military and the federal government could be extremely detrimental to many civilians and their
everyday lives. Most

Benefits Of Genetically Modified Foods
Autumn Gwinn UPLOAD TO TURNITIN!!!!!! English 4 Pd. 3 27 April 2015 Research Paper
Genetically Modifying Foods Genetic engineering is a relatively new thing in early stages of
development (Cummins 1). Genetically engineering something is done by altering or disrupting the
genetic makeup. Some examples are microorganisms, plants, fish, trees, humans, and other animals
(Cummins 1). Gene engineers move, get rid of, and add genetic material to something. There is even
human genes and animal genes added to the DNA of other animals and plants, creating unimaginable
life forms (Cummins 1). The products that are genetically modified currently are soybeans and soy oil,
corn, potatoes, squash, canola oil, cottonseed oil, papaya, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a synthetic pesticide called DDT was produced in..?. It turned out to harm animals. It
built up and stayed in fish, and it thinned the shells of birds that ate the fish. The most common birds
were the bald eagles and ospreys. Another development was chlorofluorocarbons that were used in
refrigerants, propellants, and the cleaning solvents. It turned out that they went up into the atmosphere
and destroyed the ozone that protects humans from the sun s radiation. The use of these developments
were reduced significantly and DDT was banned (Union of Concerned Scientists 1). For the first time
in the world, scientists are now the creators of new life (Cummins 1). This is a bad thing. Genetically
modified foods are threatening to human health, animals, and the environment. Thesis First,
genetically modified foods are threatening to human health. The biotech industry says that the Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) states that genetically modified foods are safe for humans to
consume. This is not true. Documents from the FDA released by a lawsuit stated that genetically
modified foods are not really safe. They can cause all kinds of health issues. These documents also
revealed that scientists tried to tell the FDA that they are not safe, but the FDA did not listen. Calgene
developed the first genetically modified crop. They developed the FlavrSavr tomato and they had
research to go along with it. Their data showed that lab rats had to be force fed.

The Affect Of Music Piracy On The Music Industry
Samuel LeGrand Mrs. Turner English 1301.85 11/19/15 Music Piracy and the Impact It Can Make on
the Music Industry For over a decade now music piracy has threatened the music industry by costing it
money, and stealing from it. Peer to peer file sharing has been somewhat of a red flag for the music
industry ever since Napster, a once highly used file swapping network, came into the picture. Napster
and the websites similar to it made it possible for people to trade files downloaded onto their computer
through the internet for free. What that means is that someone who had downloaded the new NSYNC
album could give it away to however many people could access it and no one had to pay a penny. The
big deal about that is the fact that the artists who worked for months to make that album did not get
paid. The only money they saw was from the people who actually went out and physically paid for the
CD. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
David Kushner stated that in 2002 there was an, ...estimated forty million Americans who trade songs
over the Internet, (57). That is just the amount of people who download their music illegally. Another
fairly popular way of getting a hold of some illegal music is to just simply copy music directly onto a
blank CD ROM. This method is called burning music and Kushner wrote that ...two out of five music
consumers now own the machines. (57). The machine that Kushner wrote about is a machine called a
burner that is used to burn music onto blank

The Brazilian Real Is The Present-Day Currency Of Brazil.
The Brazilian real is the present day currency of Brazil. The currency code for the Brazilian real is
BRL, while the currency symbol is displayed as R$. On July 1,1994, the real was introduced by the
Banco Central do Brasil, when it replaced the old currency, the cruzeiro real, as a part of the Plano
Real. The Plano Real was a substantial monetary reform package which aimed to stabilize the
Brazilian economy and put an end to three decades of extensive inflation (Wikipedia). Initially, the
real was intended to have an approximate fixed 1:1 exchange rate with the United States (U.S.) dollar.
However, soon after its introduction, the real unexpectedly gained value against the U.S. dollar, due to
large capital inflows (Wikipedia). Throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the purpose of this paper, only the highs and lows during the years of 2005 2010 will be evaluated
and compared. To start, in 2005, the exchange rate of the U.S. dollar (USD) had fluctuated from a low
of (BRL) R$2.16 to a high of (BRL) R$2.77 while in 2006, the exchange rate of the U.S. dollar (USD)
had fluctuated from a low of (BRL) R$2.06 to a high of (BRL) R$2.41. Throughout 2007, the
exchange rate of the U.S. dollar (USD) had fluctuated from a low of (BRL) R$1.73 to a high of (BRL)
R$2.15. In 2008, the exchange rate of the U.S. dollar (USD) had fluctuated from a low of (BRL)
R$1.56 to a high of (BRL) R$2.62. During this time, the heightened exchange rate of the Brazilian
real was largely influenced by the devaluation of the U.S. dollar in relation to the financial crisis
affecting the U.S. economy and global markets (Wikipedia). Moreover, in 2009, the exchange rate of
the U.S. dollar (USD) had fluctuated from a low of (BRL) R$1.70 to a high of (BRL) R$2.45, and by
the end of 2009, the U.S. dollar was near an eight year low against the real, having lost a massive
33+% of its value during 2009 alone (Brazilian Consulting). In 2010, the Brazilian Central Bank made
the decision to raise interest rates in the country, which resulted in the strengthening of the real and the
weakening of the dollar. By the end of 2010, the exchange rate of the U.S. dollar (USD) had fluctuated
from a low of (BRL)

What Are The Different Types Of Serial Killers
Serial killers are not something that is new to our modern day world. These type of killers have dated
as far back as the 19th century and are even more prevalent in our society today. When murder is
associated with serial killers, individuals assume that murderers and serial killers are essentially the
same word, but serial killers are a type of murderer. When an individual commits two or more crimes,
with no apparent motive and often uses the same type of behavior pattern that is predictable, these
murderers are categorized as a serial killer. Investigators and historians study serial killers and their
motives, and there have been many cases that have grown cold. One in particular that is still trying to

recently moved to Whitechapel over half a dozen years before the murders started, plus the shawl that
was found at the crime scene deemed to have been from where he lived. Dr. Fyaz Ismail, determined
that the fabric s age predated the 1888 murders and was likely made near St. Petersburg, Russia. The
region of Poland where Kosminski was born was under Russian control, and it would not have been
unusual for Russian goods to have been traded there (Klein). With all of this evidence, I believe that
we should lay this case to rest and accept that Jack the Ripper is Aaron

The clothing was similar to clothing from Caylee in size and description. Most notable was the baby
blanket. She could faintly make out the character Winnie the Pooh. Photographs of Caylee s room and
pictures of Caylee as an infant show here laying on the same patterned blanket. Wrapped tightly
around the skull were three layers of duct tape. Dr. Garavaglia was able to note that this was done
prior to any decomposition of the body. This was because the mandible remained attached to the skull
after decomposition had occurred completely. (Casey Anthony Trial, 2011) Usually, once the soft
tissue breaks away, there is nothing holding the lower jaw to the upper skull portion. The tape had held
the mandible in place and all of the baby teeth were still in place. This is fairly unusual because baby
teeth are temporary and do not have true roots holding them in once the tissue is gone. (Casey
Anthony Case, 2013) The tape had been wound through the child s hair and was still clinging into the
tape. Over the mouth area, there was a heart shaped sticker. Investigators found similar stickers in
Casey s room. This pointed even more to the remains belonging to Caylee Anthony. Finally a
definitive answer came in. The DNA results finally came back. The findings were that the remains did
in fact belong to Caylee. Now it was Dr. Garavaglia s job to figure out how this young girl lost her
life.

Ethno-Nationalist Terrorism
Ethno nationalist terrorist groups rely on the terrorism, which seeks to establish an independent state
for ethnic, linguistic, cultural groups. They claim themselves as revolutionary groups, who want to
create own ethno centric government. Ethnic terrorism differs from religious and economic causes of
terrorism. Ethno nationalist are more nationalist than religious counterparts, and they emphasize on
national identity, community mobilization, group identity, and oppose the idea of terrorism. They use
violence to keep their presence alive in the particular community, sustain their political agendas, and
find meaningful solutions. In addition, ethno nationalist terrorism use fear as a tool for polarizing
people from different culture, idea, and developing alternative identities. For example, The Liberation

Lab On A Chip Lab Report
Introduction The research is specifically carried out on Particle Sorting using the interplay between the
Travelling Surface Acoustic Wave and the Stationary Surface Acoustic Wave. Sorting individual
cells/particles of interest from a heterogeneous population has been of critical importance in biological
studies and clinical applications, such as single cell sequencing, rare cell isolation, and drug screening.
The introduction of lab on a chip (i.e.,

Displacement of acoustic waves is also helpful in creating particle mobility required for separation of
particles in a static fluid volume. In batch systems, with very small samples in contact with a
substrate, separation has been shown using acoustic streaming in droplets, in an open chamber and in
a channel.
Description of Research Methodology In this research we will examine the use of acoustic radiation
forces alone for particle separation in a system, and demonstrate that the controllability of this type of
acoustic force allows highly specific separation. SAW is generated by a spatially periodic electrical
field to create a resonant condition on a piezoelectric substrate.
Further, in TSAW a wave travels through the substrate and in case of SSAW, there are 2 counter
propagating wave. We will utilise both TSAW and SSAW; the former acts to push the particles across
the chamber, the latter to capture particles in bands of minimum force potential. The system will
consist of a microfluidic chamber, cast in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), and bonded onto a lithium
niobate, LiNbO3 (LN) piezoelectric substrate.
The device will be held under a microscope using a frame. The

Summary Of The Man Who Loved Flowers

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Globalisation
For the last two decades, globalisation has been the main concern for many countries in the world, but
it is not simply a process that started two decades ago, many studies suggested that globalisation is an
essential part in mankind economic history that has stretched for thousands of years (C.R., 2013).
Globalisation, as proposed by Al Rodhan and Stoudmann (2006), can be defined as follows:
Globalisation is a process that encompasses the causes, course, and consequences of transnational and
transcultural integration of human and non human activities (Al Rodhan Stoudmann, 2006)
It is believed that technology is the driving force of globalisation, in turn, globalisation enables the
remarkable rate of technological changes (Archibugi Iammarino, 2002). However, not every country

For example, in the aforementioned case of Ireland, although having a substantial economic growth,
most sectors of the Irish high technology industry were under the domination by foreign companies,
this in turn lead to Ireland having to deeply depend on global needs for information technology. As a
consequence, Ireland s economy was particularly affected by the global recession in 2001 (Cackler et
al., 2008). Moreover, the lack of infrastructures, knowledge and experience that are capable to
facilitate modern technology makes developing countries have to utilise the development strategy of
leapfrogging . The term leapfrogging refers to the adoption of an advanced or state of the art
technology, bypassing prior stages of development (Steinmueller, 2001). The strategy seems to be
fruitful, however, it might pose a high liability to developing countries when there are involvements of
premature technologies, without careful planning and evaluation, expensive failures are prompted to

Analysis Of Herbert Hoover s The Great Gatsby
This script presents as a historical, character driven drama that explores an interesting part of Herbert
Hoover s life as a secretary and mining scout in Australia. The tone is consistently dramatic with a
nice element of wit and humor. The era, culture, and time period feel authentic and believable. The
historical information feels well researched.
Hoover s goal to become rich and marry the woman of his dreams is well established and drives
Hoover s actions.
Will the story has the potential to be a compelling drama, the script would benefit from more
development, especially in the area of structure, pace, and tension.
First, the opening begins when Hoover is handing over his Presidency and then flashbacks back in
time. This is a workable structure, although the opening scene doesn t immediately grab the attention
of the audience. It s heavy with dialogue and doesn t highlight the emotion of Hoover.
The first act is driven by Hoover s quest for a job so that he can marry the woman he loves. The first
act is a bit repetitive in dialogue, as his friends repeatedly counsel him about meeting with Lou s
father and what to do and say. Hoover also tends to repeat his goal several times about getting rich and
marrying Lou (page 17 and page 20 are examples).
The second act is driven by Hoover s job in Australia. The concern about the second act is that there s
very little compelling tension to sustain the overall plot. The story requires stronger pivotal plot beats

The Pros And Cons Of Traditional Textbooks
Electronic textbooks are better than traditional print textbooks
The progress of electronic textbooks induces the discussion on whether electronic textbooks perform
better than traditional print textbooks. It oriented in the Project Gutenberg using computer to carry

(as cited in Embong, Noor, Hashim, Ali, Shaari, 2012), electronic book is defined as a book that is
displayed on a computer screen or on an electronic device that is held in the hand, instead of being
printed on paper. It is in multiple electronic formats . However, electronic books and electronic

Pglo Plasmase
Abstract
When trying to transfer several specific plasmids into a new host DNA, you need a way to check and
see if the desired plasmids were combined to the DNA, that s where there pGLO test comes in. By
using an ultraviolet light, a person is able to immediately see if the new plasmids have been accepted
into the bacteria by whether or not a bright green fluorescent light is emitting from the bacteria. So the
process in how pGLO is expressed would be the plasmid itself is extracted from the A. Victoria,
modified and inserted into bacteria with the three genes. The beta lactamase then comes first, to give it
a resistant to the ampicillin antibiotics that would initially kill it. This then allowed the araC operon to

are, whether it is just LB, LB and ampicillin, or LB, ampicillin, and araC (4). There should be one for
each positive and negative. After the ten minutes in the centrifuge has passed, take them out and place
them in a forty two degrees Celsius heating block for fifty seconds. Once the fifty seconds have

A Research On Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
Introduction: Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNP) refers to and cares for newborns in their first 28
days of life. Neonatal nurse practitioners practice advanced skills in order to provide care for healthy
newborns, as well as newborns who need individualized attention. These nurses care for premature
and sick newborns in many different settings: neonatal intensive care units (NICU), emergency rooms,
delivery rooms, or specialty clinics(Nurse). NNP s level of care enables them to preform multiple
duties consisting of: monitoring specialized equipment, providing education to the families of the sick
newborns, administering medications, preforming diagnostic tests and other procedures in order to
establish a treatment plan for the newborns, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Educational Requirements: To become a neonatal nurse practitioner you must be certified in neonatal
resuscitation and/or neonatal intensive care nursing. Candidates should complete a four year
accredited nursing program that culminates in Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). You will need to
pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX RN) and this will be
after your Bachelor s degree(How). You then will need to gain 1 2 years of experience in a hospital of
the NICU before applying to a graduate program. You will also need a Master of Science in Nursing
(MSN) degree. Many neonatal nursing schools offer this degree through a two year Advanced Practice
Neonatal Nursing (APNN) program. Last, you will need get a certification as an NNP by the National
Certification Corporation (NCC) so you and become the more advanced nurses and continue your
education and career(How).
Colleges or Vocational Schools: University of Tennessee Chattanooga (UTC) offers a great option for
me for my schooling of nursing. UTC is one of the best nursing schools of America. This college
offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
degree, along with all of the steps to become a nurse practitioner(Welcome). A big advantage for going
to the UTC nursing school for me would be that there is a Safe Hospital for the

The Doctrine Of The Divine Command Theory
The Divine Command Theory dictates that An act is morally required just because it is commanded by
God, and immoral just because God forbids it (Shafer Landau 65). This view is often accepted by
religious people as the basis for morality; the morality of an action is determined by whether or not it
is commanded by God. However, there are multiple problems presented by this line of thinking. One
of the most common arguments against this theory is known as the Euthyphro Dilemma, derived from
Plato s account of Socrates questioning Euthyphro about the determinant of piety, albeit in relation to
the polytheistic Greek system of belief. In this account, Socrates asks if ...the gods love actions
because they are pious, or are actions pious because the gods love them? This inquiry can also
obviously be applied to the modern, monotheistic interpretation of the Divine Command Theory. As
Euthyphro struggles to answer the question, Socrates details the premises that lead to the conclusion
that the gods love actions because of their piety, and not the other way around. This refutes the Divine
Command Theory, and lays out a rather logical argument that explains the flaws in accepting it. While
the argument of the Euthyphro Dilemma is apparently logically sound, one potential objection is that
it limits the nature of morality to two distinct options, and excludes the possibility that moral goodness
is what corresponds to God s nature: God did not arbitrarily designate morality to

The Light Shining On My Life
I remember looking through the glossy window. The rays of light shining on my face, warming and
illuminating every speck on my skin. Glancing down at the puffy white clouds and thinking This is it
in just a few minutes i ll be home. Green. Green. That was all i could see the planes every different
shade of the verdurous colour one could ever imagine. The anticipation was killing me. Literally. Who
knew that in just a few minutes i would be comforted by those warm hugs and those sweet kisses from
the ones i adored...my family, my home. In just a few hours i would be arriving at the airport and
waiting for my plane to start boarding. It had been such a hectic day that i could not resist the urge of
excitement and nervousness i felt towards what lay ahead. I had just finished my last day of summer
school and as i was cleaning my room i just couldn t stop thinking of how this trip would become of
me. As the minutes passed by my agitation grew and grew my aunts and uncles starting arriving
telling us to have a safe trip. I remember how my aunt Claudia stated, Diana no vallas a andar de loca
y por favor ten cuidado. All i could say was, Jaja, tia no voy a andar de loca y gracias la voy a extrañar
mucho . As the time to arrive at the airport came to a near end i couldn t help but look over at my
father and just think How much i would miss him. Time seemed to be long lasting and it seemed like it
took years, heck even decades for us to start getting ready to board. I

Power System fault is defined as undesirable condition that occurs in the power system. These
undesirable conditions such as short circuit, current leakage, ground short, over current and
overvoltage and over temperature.
With the increasing loads, voltages and short circuit duty in distribution system, over current
protection has become more important today. The ability of protection system is demanded not only
for economic reason but also consumers just expect reliable service. In a Power System Protection, the
system engineer would need a device that can monitor current, voltage, frequency, temperature and in
some case over power in the system. Thus a device called Protective Relay is created to serve the
purpose. The protective relay is most often relay coupled with Circuit Breaker such that it can isolate
the abnormal condition in the system. In the interest of reliable

Catastrophe Bonds

The trouble with Catastrophe Bonds
The article presents the difficulties insurance companies face when they are issuing catastrophe bonds.
Do they efficiently hedge against large scale disasters?
It is very difficult hedging against catastrophic losses. Japan s March earthquake, tsunami and nuclear
disaster threat could cost the insurance industry between $21 and $34 billion.
The catastrophe bonds are not helping much the insurance companies, although they were designed to
do so. Catastrophe bonds have limits on type and location of the disaster they will cover. A large
number of catastrophe bonds covered the losses only in Tokyo, although the actual losses occurred far
away from there.
In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Considering all the risk stated above, the insurance companies are still issuing the catastrophe bonds.
In my point of view the issuance of catastrophe bonds by insurers is a successful financial hedging
technique. Even though the investors are having large returns on risk linked securities and only a small
number of them lost their principle, the purpose of these instruments is to provide coverage for highly
improbable risks. The benefit of these bonds is that they allow the insurance companies to secure a
layer of coverage for their worst case scenarios, which may not be available if traditional reinsurance
is used.
Catastrophe bonds help to diversify the protection capacity and supplement traditional reinsurance.
The insurance companies are transferring major risks and thus have more capital to underwrite new
business, therefore using the bonds to diversify their sourcing of reinsurance.
The issuance of risk linked securities is a great strategy in supplementing traditional reinsurance, but
these bonds still need to prove their value in the long run.
In conclusion, I would not agree with Mr. Niklaus Hilti s words: from the perspective of insurers and
reinsurers, traditional reinsurance is clearly the better hedge. The catastrophe bonds are carefully
designed to provide insurers and reinsurers the capital they need for

The Civil War is the most widely written about event in American history and Reconstruction is the
most mis understood and least appreciated subject within this wider issue. Most people would prefer
to escape into the heroic exploits of the battles that were fought than deal with the difficult social
problems that the former enslaved population had to deal with.

After twenty years, ordinances legitimizing enslavement were commonplace in almost every colony
and the practice had morphed into bondage for life, or more properly, chattel slavery.5 These practices
were immoral; they had no place in a respectable society.
The pernicious tendency to view the Africans through the white supremacist lens quickly became
dominant and was a concomitant of this chattel slavery. This was punctuated by the knowledge that
Europeans were never enslaved while most enslaved people were Africans.6 The skin color of the
enslaved became a facile marker that fit in well with the culturally supremacist view of the European
colonists. IMPORTATION
In this section I try to show how the African Slave System, after gaining a foothold went on to become
the most important part of the economy of the new Nation:
As the profitability of the colonists agricultural enterprises quickly rose, it was essential to procure a
sufficient number of workers since labor shortages were a constant headache.7 Enslavement of the
Indigenous Peoples had become steadily more problematic and by the 1750 s this practice had ceased
altogether.8 European workers were both expensive and tended to leave their employers to start
plantations of their own, or to return home. Therefore, a more reliable source of economically viable
labor became a necessity, and that baleful need coincided with the rise of the Trans Atlantic Slave
Trade from Africa.

Social, Ethical, And Economic Problems
AD was first identified in 1906, however, research into its causes and treatment only gained
momentum over the past 30 years. Research into AD and the exact physiological changes that trigger
the development of AD still remain unknown. The only exceptions are certain rare, inherited forms of
the disease caused by known genetic mutations. (Dekkers, W., Marcel, O. R. 2006) There are some
major links to those who are affected by (AD). The link that connects family history those who have a
parent, or sibling with Alzheimer s are at a greater risk of developing the disease. (Dekkers, W.,
Marcel, O. R. 2006) AD is not a usual part of growing older, however, it is one of the highest risk
factor for the disease. Currently, millions of people are affected by AD worldwide and the number is
expected to rise well over 106 million by the year 2050, this rise will cause serious clinical, social,
ethical, and economic problems. (Dekkers, W., Marcel, O. R. 2006) According to scientific evidence
most individuals with AD are age 65 or older making it the number one cause for Alzheimer s.
Developing Alzheimer s increases radically about every five years after age 65. AD slowly wears
away at memory and the ability to retain new information little by little, your brain begins to
degenerate. (Dekkers Marcel 2006) AD eventually effects the ability to carry out the simplest of tasks.

Identity In Preludes Essay
Whether you are currently measuring your life with coffee spoons or questioning so how should I
presume to dare disturb the universe, T.S Eliot encapsulates the insecurities of humanity in modern
society through the tantalising masquerades of his suite of poems. He comments on the futility of
humanity in society in both Preludes and Rhapsody on a windy night through the projection of the
modern world as an urban wasteland which is devoid of individuality. This rejection of the natural
poetic focus highlights the contrast between the previous era of romanticism and the pessimistic
recognition of the limitations of literature. Yet perhaps why his suite of poems is so enduring is
because of his emphasis in the negligible aspects of life, giving them significance hence allowing the
audience to reevaluate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His departure from the traditional and conventional romantic focus is highlighted in sibilance of the
dramatic contrast in The winter s evening settles down with smells of steaks in passageways, which
creates echoing somber emptiness and evokes an ironic duality between individual s isolation and the
brooding decadence of modern life. Eliot seems to have an obsession with time, informing the
audience of the exact time such as half past two despite the fragmented montage of perspectives. Yet
in Rhapsody on a windy night , time pulls us back into reality from the continuous dreamlike imagery.
This enables him to metaphorically compare humanity to a broken spring in a factory yard that is hard
and curled and ready to snap in order to highlight the vulnerability and paralysis of individuals during
his personal context. This industrial imagery epitomizes the modern hopelessness represented by Eliot
s social anxieties, thus cultivating the essence of modernism, giving Eliot s suite of poems significance
as a modernist literary

Gossip Girl Character Analysis
Today s society is all about the drama. Social media has played a huge influential factor in allowing
people to communicate with others, release news quickly, keep the population updated, along with
many other advantages. It has also become a place where people especially teens, talk about romance
in a cultural way. In one of my favorite TV shows, Gossip Girl, drama and cultural romance is the key
factor in all of the characters lives. There is an anonymous gossip girl who posts online the drama
pertaining to the city s most elite groups, which happens to be the main characters who attend the
same high school. For the purpose of this essay, the main characters to be discussed are Serena Van
der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, Chuck Bass, Nate Archibald, and Dan Humphrey. Serena and Blair have
been best friends since forever, and are very popular. At the beginning of the show, Blair is dating
Nate who is best friends with Chuck. These four are all very popular not just in school, but their last
names cause them to be very well known to the public eye. Dan is an outsider who ends up getting
looped into the drama. As the episodes and seasons of the show progress, old relationships start to fade
away while new relationships are arising, and gossip girl does not miss a beat. It is a constant flow of
romance between the characters. One of the most iconic relationships is that between Chuck and Blair.
Their relationship is a roller coaster in itself. A very strong, undeniable attraction

Attitude, but people may as well express hostile sexism when they show their attitudes. Hostile sexism

According to Saul Kassin, Steven Fein and Hazel Markus (2016), attitude is defined as positive or

People across the USA express positive and negative attitudes about abortion, the reason is because
people want to defend their beliefs. People who are pro life belief that abortion in all circumstances

reactions tend to harm others while others impose their ideas without harming. Some pro life
protesters offended Planned Parenthood with negative words, such as calling them killers, sinners and

The Care Of Heart Failure Patients Essay
Does the Use of Telemonitoring in the Care of Heart Failure Patients Reduce Hospitalization?
The heart is a vital organ that the body needs in order to survive and according to the Center for
Disease Control (CDC) 5.7 million people in the United States suffer from heart failure (HF) and
about half of heart failure patients die within five years of diagnosis, (CDC, n.d.). Heart failure is the
inability of the heart to pump blood sufficiently in order to meet the body s need. Heart failure is the
main reason for inpatient hospitalization and readmission in adults over 65 years old (Smith, 2013).
Advances in technology continue to change the practice of nursing and healthcare. Telemonitoring is
one major advance in technology that is changing the role and practice of nursing today.
Telemonitoring involves healthcare workers remotely monitoring patient s vital signs daily with the
goal of early detection of deteriorating conditions. This systematic review will present available data

Boost Juice Essay
As a marketer, it is essential to understand the customer driven marketing strategy to create values for
target customers. A market segmentation is a process that analysis markets into specific target
consumers by their characteristics and behaviours. This will help marketers to identify the target

segmenting consumer markets, business markets, international markets and requirements for effective

Short Term Paper On Insomnia
Jules Verne once said, Though sleep is our bestfriend, it is a friend who often keeps us waiting! Sleep
is a very essential part of our day to day lives. However, if we do not get enough sleep, it can lead to a
common type of sleeping disorder called Insomnia. Insomnia is a disorder characterized by inability to
sleep or a total lack of sleep (Saddiccha 1). The simplest definition is being unable to sleep or to stay
asleep. Insomnia is derived from the Latin word insomnus which literally means no sleep. In 1818,
Insomnia was named as the first psychosomatic disorder by the German Physicist named Johann
Heinroth. Studies show that about 33 50% of adults have symptoms of insomnia but only 10 15% of
the general population actually have insomnia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The number one treatment that many Insomniacs (people with insomnia) are recommended to take are
behavioral therapies. Behavioral therapies include education about good sleeping habits, cognitive
behavioral therapy (which is the process of eliminating or controlling negative thoughts), Relaxation
techniques, Stimulus control and many other types of treatments (Saddiccha, 1). Patients can actually
choose what they think is best for them but it is better to take the doctor s advice. A fact that most
people believe is that sleeping pills can actually cure insomnia. Sleeping pills can help a patient sleep
but it cannot actually cure insomnia (Thrasybule, 1). Also, most doctors do not recommend on taking
prescription sleeping pills for more than a few weeks but there other sleeping pills that are approved
for long term use ( Insomnia, 1). Since many people are being affected by Insomnia there are several
ways we can prevent and at the same time treat this particular disorder. The key is to change your
daily routine, and you can do this by exercising regularly, avoiding caffeine, getting regular exposure
to the late afternoon sun and practicing stress reduction techniques ( Insomnia, 1). Insomnia is mostly
under recognized, under diagnosed, and under treated which is suggesting that most people don t take
it as a big deal when it should be (Saddiccha, 1). If we work together as a community to make

The Epidemic Is Sweeping The Nation
An epidemic is sweeping the nation. Rapidly more cases of STD s are being noted to appropriate
health officials and are steadily increasing instead of declining. The Centers for Disease Control,
commonly known as the CDC, have vigorously tracked HIV numbers and an estimated 1,218,400
persons aged 13 years and older are living with the HIV infection ( HIV in The United States: At A
Glance ). This doesn t include the amount of people clueless to being infected at all: a whopping
156,300. Discouragingly and surprisingly enough, a factor contributing to this number is that people
aren t being informed when they engage in relations with another person who has the virus. The risk
of transmission from one to the other is excruciatingly high if one party isn t given the opportunity to
take the appropriate precautions to protect themselves. Furthermore, when a person is warned that
their partner has a transmittable disease, they aren t really equipped to make an informative decision
because of lack of information. Every citizen has an undeniable duty to take action to reduce the
spread of STD s in Arizona so that eventually these harmful diseases can be altogether eradicated for
future generations to come.
The first excruciatingly necessary step is for Arizona legislators to create a law that would bring a
person up on criminal charges if he/she didn t disclose their infected status to their partner before
engaging in intercourse. So far 24 states have laws that require a person

The Origin Of Australian Music
Australian Aborigines are native to Australia and have lived in a territory called the Arnhem Land or
northern Australia for almost forty thousand years. Some of the Aborigines live in government
housing today, while others still live among the land as their ancestors did. Aborigines are an ethnic
group that also has many religious beliefs. They believe in Animism which is the belief that living
creatures and the outside environment contain supernatural powers. Their culture and beliefs resonate
in their music. Their belief in Animism is reflected in the rhythms that they use that originate in the
environment. Another part of Australian music that is characteristic of that country is the use of the
didjeridu. This instrument has become a symbol of Australian music and has a rich history in the
ethnic music that the Aborigines play. It is also made and performed by these native people in very
unique ways. The history of Australian music would not be complete without highlighting the
importance of the didjeridu. Some believe that Aborigines have been playing the didjeridu for up to
forty thousand years. However, most historians believe that the didjeridu dates back about fifteen
hundred to two thousand years because of the cave art that the Aborigines have left behind. These cave
drawings consist of figures playing a didjeridu. The didjeridu is believed to be first constructed in
eastern Kimberly or northern Australia, and is also considered by some to be the

  • 2. Effective Leaders Need Emotional And Social Intelligence 1. Refer to Ex. 2.5 below (and in text). You might also refer to the ppt. slides. Effective leaders need emotional and social intelligence to be aware of their impact on subordinates. a. Give an example of a leader who created an out group of followers through their behaviors and traits. Identify and describe the specific behaviors as well as the leader s major traits that prevented people from feeling like part of the in group . What were the consequences to employees (e.g., emotions, attitudes, motivation, etc.) and company? Former NFL head coach Buddy Ryan was known for creating tension between the offense and defense. Coach Ryan was a defensive coordinator before becoming a head coach, so he naturally favored the defensive unit. The out group consisted of the offensive players and coaches, and the line between the two groups was created by negative behaviors such as only talking to the defensive players, criticizing the offensive coaches to the media, and a general culture of us versus them. Whenever a person is named the head coach, their main responsibility is to bring all the players together to form one collect group. The main consequences to the employees involved being treated as second class citizens, an unstable work environment, and a lack of positive reinforcement. b. • 3. Analysis Of The Book The Secret Life Of Bees Reading Response Kaitlyn Baker The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd The biggest pull factor that brought me to reading The Secret Life of Bees, is the fact that it is set in a time when racial separation was very much still alive in America. So when I began my journey on reading the novel, it was quickly clear that I was going to thoroughly enjoy it. The story follows a young white girl, Lily, whose life revolves around unravelling the faded memory of her killing her mother, and her new life with her abusive father. It is the story of Lily blossoming into adolescence, in a time where racial separation is still a big issue. Lily s journey to find something, anything, about her mother s death is something I think is a large part of why this novel is so mesmerizing to read. Lily s loyalty of trying to piece it together makes this story moving, but not depressing. I think it is uplifting, full of heart, inspiring, and warm. I think Kidd, the author, has perfectly captured the awkward restlessness of a teenager, longing for love, yearning to discover, but at the same time fearful of what truth could emerge. Seeing Lily s almost desperate longing for any kind of a mother figure is something that truly broke my heart. It made me think about how I am so blessed in my life to have such a strong mother figure, and I hope no one has to go through life without some kind of motherly guidance. I often got the feeling of Lily s deep desire for nurturance, which can be owed to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Guns Do Kill People By Philip Caputo In Guns do kill people, an article by Philip Caputo on the changes that need to be made to gun safety and gun laws, Caputo brings to light the problem that mass destruction firearms create in our world. Most do not understand the harm of semi automatic handguns, but as someone who has had experience firsthand of the destruction they have, he shows the impact that is made by them. Based on his experience with semi automatic weapons and his research of past violence in the United States, Caputo makes a compelling argument to justify outlawing mass destruction firearms. Caputo has had first hand experience with the harm that semi automatic firearms have. He served a tour of duty with a Marine Rifle Company in Vietnam and was seriously wounded by an AK 47. He is intimately aware of the design of what these weapons are meant to do. These weapons are made to kill people; as many as possible, as quickly as possible (Caputo). According to Caputo s experience, it is shown that he is aware of the repercussions that these weapons have and what they can do. Caputo, being a hunter who owns shotguns and rifles, says it is prohibited to bring a weapon of mass destruction into the fields. A semi automatic 9mm handgun is not meant to injure or severely wound, it is meant to kill no matter what the cost. For example, the use of semi automatic firearms outside of the military and the federal government could be extremely detrimental to many civilians and their everyday lives. Most ... English 4 Pd. 3 27 April 2015 Research Paper Genetically Modifying Foods Genetic engineering is a relatively new thing in early stages of development (Cummins 1). Gene engineers move, get rid of, and add genetic material to something. For example, a synthetic pesticide called DDT was produced in..?. It turned out to harm animals. It built up and stayed in fish, and it thinned the shells of birds that ate the fish. The most common birds were the bald eagles and ospreys. Another development was chlorofluorocarbons that were used in refrigerants, propellants, and the cleaning solvents. It turned out that they went up into the atmosphere and destroyed the ozone that protects humans from the sun s radiation. The use of these developments were reduced significantly and DDT was banned (Union of Concerned Scientists 1). For the first time in the world, scientists are now the creators of new life (Cummins 1). This is a bad thing. Genetically modified foods are threatening to human health, animals, and the environment. Thesis First, genetically modified foods are threatening to human health. The biotech industry says that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states that genetically modified foods are safe for humans to consume. This is not true. Documents from the FDA released by a lawsuit stated that genetically modified foods are not really safe. They can cause all kinds of health issues. These documents also revealed that scientists tried to tell the FDA that they are not safe, but the FDA did not listen. Calgene developed the first genetically modified crop. They developed the FlavrSavr tomato and they had research to go along with it. Their data showed that lab rats had to be force fed. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Affect Of Music Piracy On The Music Industry Samuel LeGrand Mrs. Turner English 1301.85 11/19/15 Music Piracy and the Impact It Can Make on the Music Industry For over a decade now music piracy has threatened the music industry by costing it money, and stealing from it. Peer to peer file sharing has been somewhat of a red flag for the music industry ever since Napster, a once highly used file swapping network, came into the picture. Napster and the websites similar to it made it possible for people to trade files downloaded onto their computer through the internet for free. What that means is that someone who had downloaded the new NSYNC album could give it away to however many people could access it and no one had to pay a penny. The currency code for the Brazilian real is BRL, while the currency symbol is displayed as R$. On July 1,1994, the real was introduced by the Banco Central do Brasil, when it replaced the old currency, the cruzeiro real, as a part of the Plano Real. The Plano Real was a substantial monetary reform package which aimed to stabilize the Brazilian economy and put an end to three decades of extensive inflation (Wikipedia). Dr. Garavaglia was able to note that this was done prior to any decomposition of the body. This was because the mandible remained attached to the skull after decomposition had occurred completely. Hoover s goal to become rich and marry the woman of his dreams is well established and drives Hoover s actions. Will the story has the potential to be a compelling drama, the script would benefit from more development, especially in the area of structure, pace, and tension. First, the opening begins when Hoover is handing over his Presidency and then flashbacks back in time. This is a workable structure, although the opening scene doesn t immediately grab the attention of the audience. It s heavy with dialogue and doesn t highlight the emotion of Hoover. The first act is driven by Hoover s quest for a job so that he can marry the woman he loves. The first act is a bit repetitive in dialogue, as his friends repeatedly counsel him about meeting with Lou s father and what to do and say. Hoover also tends to repeat his goal several times about getting rich and marrying Lou (page 17 and page 20 are examples). The second act is driven by Hoover s job in Australia. • 21. The Doctrine Of The Divine Command Theory The Divine Command Theory dictates that An act is morally required just because it is commanded by God, and immoral just because God forbids it (Shafer Landau 65). This view is often accepted by religious people as the basis for morality; the morality of an action is determined by whether or not it is commanded by God. However, there are multiple problems presented by this line of thinking. One of the most common arguments against this theory is known as the Euthyphro Dilemma, derived from Plato s account of Socrates questioning Euthyphro about the determinant of piety, albeit in relation to the polytheistic Greek system of belief. In this account, Socrates asks if ...the gods love actions because they are pious, or are actions pious because the gods love them? This inquiry can also obviously be applied to the modern, monotheistic interpretation of the Divine Command Theory. As Euthyphro struggles to answer the question, Socrates details the premises that lead to the conclusion that the gods love actions because of their piety, and not the other way around. This refutes the Divine Command Theory, and lays out a rather logical argument that explains the flaws in accepting it. While the argument of the Euthyphro Dilemma is apparently logically sound, one potential objection is that it limits the nature of morality to two distinct options, and excludes the possibility that moral goodness is what corresponds to God s nature: God did not arbitrarily designate morality to ... Even though the investors are having large returns on risk linked securities and only a small number of them lost their principle, the purpose of these instruments is to provide coverage for highly improbable risks. The benefit of these bonds is that they allow the insurance companies to secure a layer of coverage for their worst case scenarios, which may not be available if traditional reinsurance is used. Catastrophe bonds help to diversify the protection capacity and supplement traditional reinsurance. The insurance companies are transferring major risks and thus have more capital to underwrite new business, therefore using the bonds to diversify their sourcing of reinsurance. The issuance of risk linked securities is a great strategy in supplementing traditional reinsurance, but these bonds still need to prove their value in the long run. In conclusion, I would not agree with Mr. Niklaus Hilti s words: from the perspective of insurers and reinsurers, traditional reinsurance is clearly the better hedge. The catastrophe bonds are carefully designed to provide insurers and reinsurers the capital they need for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

TERM PAPER HISTORY 367 CIVIL WAR and RECONSTRUCTION Sheldon Teicher HIST 367 Hunter College Spring 2013 8 May 2013 THE BROKEN PROMISE OF RECONSTRUCTION amp; THE NEED FOR RESTITUTION The Civil War is the most widely written about event in American history and Reconstruction is the most mis understood and least appreciated subject within this wider issue. Most people would prefer to escape into the heroic exploits of the battles that were fought than deal with the difficult social problems that the former enslaved population had to deal with. I am offering this essay since I believe that the African Americans have been done a great disservice by the Nation. As a people they were forcibly brought to this land, they were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After twenty years, ordinances legitimizing enslavement were commonplace in almost every colony and the practice had morphed into bondage for life, or more properly, chattel slavery.5 These practices were immoral; they had no place in a respectable society. The pernicious tendency to view the Africans through the white supremacist lens quickly became dominant and was a concomitant of this chattel slavery. This was punctuated by the knowledge that Europeans were never enslaved while most enslaved people were Africans.6 The skin color of the enslaved became a facile marker that fit in well with the culturally supremacist view of the European colonists. IMPORTATION In this section I try to show how the African Slave System, after gaining a foothold went on to become the most important part of the economy of the new Nation: As the profitability of the colonists agricultural enterprises quickly rose, it was essential to procure a sufficient number of workers since labor shortages were a constant headache.7 Enslavement of the Indigenous Peoples had become steadily more problematic and by the 1750 s this practice had ceased altogether.8 European workers were both expensive and tended to leave their employers to start plantations of their own, or to return home. Therefore, a more reliable source of economically viable labor became a necessity, and that baleful need coincided with the rise of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade from Africa. This phenomenon was

Research into AD and the exact physiological changes that trigger the development of AD still remain unknown. The only exceptions are certain rare, inherited forms of the disease caused by known genetic mutations. (Dekkers, W., Marcel, O. R. 2006) There are some major links to those who are affected by (AD). The link that connects family history those who have a parent, or sibling with Alzheimer s are at a greater risk of developing the disease. (Dekkers, W., Marcel, O. Currently, millions of people are affected by AD worldwide and the number is expected to rise well over 106 million by the year 2050, this rise will cause serious clinical, social, ethical, and economic problems. (Dekkers, W., Marcel, O. R. 2006) According to scientific evidence most individuals with AD are age 65 or older making it the number one cause for Alzheimer s. Developing Alzheimer s increases radically about every five years after age 65. AD slowly wears away at memory and the ability to retain new information little by little, your brain begins to degenerate. • 30. Identity In Preludes Essay Whether you are currently measuring your life with coffee spoons or questioning so how should I presume to dare disturb the universe, T.S Eliot encapsulates the insecurities of humanity in modern society through the tantalising masquerades of his suite of poems. He comments on the futility of humanity in society in both Preludes and Rhapsody on a windy night through the projection of the modern world as an urban wasteland which is devoid of individuality. This rejection of the natural poetic focus highlights the contrast between the previous era of romanticism and the pessimistic recognition of the limitations of literature. Yet perhaps why his suite of poems is so enduring is because of his emphasis in the negligible aspects of life, giving them significance hence allowing the audience to reevaluate ... His departure from the traditional and conventional romantic focus is highlighted in sibilance of the dramatic contrast in The winter s evening settles down with smells of steaks in passageways, which creates echoing somber emptiness and evokes an ironic duality between individual s isolation and the brooding decadence of modern life. Eliot seems to have an obsession with time, informing the audience of the exact time such as half past two despite the fragmented montage of perspectives. Yet in Rhapsody on a windy night , time pulls us back into reality from the continuous dreamlike imagery. This enables him to metaphorically compare humanity to a broken spring in a factory yard that is hard and curled and ready to snap in order to highlight the vulnerability and paralysis of individuals during his personal context. This industrial imagery epitomizes the modern hopelessness represented by Eliot s social anxieties, thus cultivating the essence of modernism, giving Eliot s suite of poems significance as a modernist literary ... Social media has played a huge influential factor in allowing people to communicate with others, release news quickly, keep the population updated, along with many other advantages. It has also become a place where people especially teens, talk about romance in a cultural way. In one of my favorite TV shows, Gossip Girl, drama and cultural romance is the key factor in all of the characters lives. There is an anonymous gossip girl who posts online the drama pertaining to the city s most elite groups, which happens to be the main characters who attend the same high school. For the purpose of this essay, the main characters to be discussed are Serena Van der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, Chuck Bass, Nate Archibald, and Dan Humphrey. Serena and Blair have been best friends since forever, and are very popular. At the beginning of the show, Blair is dating Nate who is best friends with Chuck. These four are all very popular not just in school, but their last names cause them to be very well known to the public eye. Dan is an outsider who ends up getting looped into the drama. As the episodes and seasons of the show progress, old relationships start to fade away while new relationships are arising, and gossip girl does not miss a beat. It is a constant flow of romance between the characters. One of the most iconic relationships is that between Chuck and Blair. Their relationship is a roller coaster in itself. • 39. Short Term Paper On Insomnia Jules Verne once said, Though sleep is our bestfriend, it is a friend who often keeps us waiting! Sleep is a very essential part of our day to day lives. However, if we do not get enough sleep, it can lead to a common type of sleeping disorder called Insomnia. Insomnia is a disorder characterized by inability to sleep or a total lack of sleep (Saddiccha 1). The simplest definition is being unable to sleep or to stay asleep. Insomnia is derived from the Latin word insomnus which literally means no sleep. In 1818, Insomnia was named as the first psychosomatic disorder by the German Physicist named Johann Heinroth. Studies show that about 33 50% of adults have symptoms of insomnia but only 10 15% of the general population actually have insomnia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Behavioral therapies include education about good sleeping habits, cognitive behavioral therapy (which is the process of eliminating or controlling negative thoughts), Relaxation techniques, Stimulus control and many other types of treatments (Saddiccha, 1). Patients can actually choose what they think is best for them but it is better to take the doctor s advice. A fact that most people believe is that sleeping pills can actually cure insomnia. Sleeping pills can help a patient sleep but it cannot actually cure insomnia (Thrasybule, 1). Also, most doctors do not recommend on taking prescription sleeping pills for more than a few weeks but there other sleeping pills that are approved for long term use ( Insomnia, 1). Since many people are being affected by Insomnia there are several ways we can prevent and at the same time treat this particular disorder. The key is to change your daily routine, and you can do this by exercising regularly, avoiding caffeine, getting regular exposure to the late afternoon sun and practicing stress reduction techniques ( Insomnia, 1). Insomnia is mostly under recognized, under diagnosed, and under treated which is suggesting that most people don t take it as a big deal when it should be (Saddiccha, 1). • 40. The Epidemic Is Sweeping The Nation An epidemic is sweeping the nation. Rapidly more cases of STD s are being noted to appropriate health officials and are steadily increasing instead of declining. The Centers for Disease Control, commonly known as the CDC, have vigorously tracked HIV numbers and an estimated 1,218,400 persons aged 13 years and older are living with the HIV infection ( HIV in The United States: At A Glance ). This doesn t include the amount of people clueless to being infected at all: a whopping 156,300. Discouragingly and surprisingly enough, a factor contributing to this number is that people aren t being informed when they engage in relations with another person who has the virus. The risk of transmission from one to the other is excruciatingly high if one party isn t given the opportunity to take the appropriate precautions to protect themselves. Furthermore, when a person is warned that their partner has a transmittable disease, they aren t really equipped to make an informative decision because of lack of information. Every citizen has an undeniable duty to take action to reduce the spread of STD s in Arizona so that eventually these harmful diseases can be altogether eradicated for future generations to come. The first excruciatingly necessary step is for Arizona legislators to create a law that would bring a person up on criminal charges if he/she didn t disclose their infected status to their partner before engaging in intercourse. So far 24 states have laws that require a person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Origin Of Australian Music Australian Aborigines are native to Australia and have lived in a territory called the Arnhem Land or northern Australia for almost forty thousand years. Some of the Aborigines live in government housing today, while others still live among the land as their ancestors did. Aborigines are an ethnic group that also has many religious beliefs. They believe in Animism which is the belief that living creatures and the outside environment contain supernatural powers. Their culture and beliefs resonate in their music. Their belief in Animism is reflected in the rhythms that they use that originate in the environment. Another part of Australian music that is characteristic of that country is the use of the didjeridu. This instrument has become a symbol of Australian music and has a rich history in the ethnic music that the Aborigines play. It is also made and performed by these native people in very unique ways. The history of Australian music would not be complete without highlighting the importance of the didjeridu. Some believe that Aborigines have been playing the didjeridu for up to forty thousand years. However, most historians believe that the didjeridu dates back about fifteen hundred to two thousand years because of the cave art that the Aborigines have left behind. These cave drawings consist of figures playing a didjeridu. The didjeridu is believed to be first constructed in eastern Kimberly or northern Australia, and is also considered by some to be the ...
