Abstract
In my biology class we conducted an experiment to determine if there was a direct correlation
between the concentration of lead levels in soil and the effect it has on plant synthesis and plant
height. The specimen used in the experiment is a species of plant, Brassica rapa. Seeds of B. rapa
were careful planted within every cell of a cubical that was filled with six different concentrations
of lead which was our treatment group and the control was the cubical with no lead soil in it. Plant
height and temperature were recorded with a thermostat and a mm ruler. The results show that lead
concentration does not have a relationship with plant height except in concentration of 100 mg/kg
and 2000 mg/kg. During this three week experiment, the mean of over a hundred students plant
heights were recorded and all the student s plants showed similar results meaning lead nitrate
concentrations in soil does not affect the growth.

Guilt is like a sickness. If you don t get medicine, no matter how much you wait it out, the
sickness is staying with you. No matter how much time passes, if you don t deal with your guilt,
it will stick with you and never go away. The main character in Marigolds by Eugenia Collier ruins
an elderly woman s beautiful marigolds because of her own issues. The main characterin The
Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst leaves his handicapped brother alone in the woods and comes back to
find that he s dead. Lastly, the main character in The Cat s In The Cradle never takes part in his sons
childhood and comes to realize his boy is just like him when he gets older. These three pieces all

angry and destroys an elderly woman named Miss. Lottie s marigolds she had planted in her yard.
Before this, Lizabeth overheard her parents fighting and crying about their dire situation,
something she had never seen her strong, determined parents do before. Lizabeth took her anger

A little town of Churchill, wolves creep in the shadows to find food. The caribou are scarce, and
the wolves need to find food to eat. In the book around the time of 1963, Never Cry Wolf a
scientist named Farley Mowat goes to the arctic to go and study wolves. There are very few
caribou and Mowat wants to see what the wolves are eating and doing to stay alive. Many
people of the town of Churchill believe that wolves are blood thirsty killers but after a long time
of being with the wolves, Mowat figures out that is just not the case. Mowat uses
emotion(pathos), humor and irony throughout the book. Mowat uses the strategy of pathos
many times throughout the book. At the beginning of the book, Mowat goes around Churchill
and asks the natives what they thought about the wolves. He believed that people weren t telling
the truth or they were just uneducated about the wolves, he sort of felt bad for them. In the book

nuts hire planes to go somewhere they don t know where; and only nuts expect a guy to go off
