income statement and the multi step income statement. The single step income statement shows a
company s net profit or net loss in a single mathematical equation. This statement does not separate
income and expenses. This is useful when showing financial information to individuals who only
need or want to see the end result. The single step income statement is short and to the point. It is
also less time consuming to prepare and more easily understood. The major drawback of the single
step income statement is the lack of information... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hunger Games Dystopia
Imagine living in a society where the government watches their citizens every move. A place where
even the smallest mistakes and acts of independance are punishable by death. According the many
sci fi, fantasy authors this is what it would be like living in a dystopian future. Dystopian societies
are undesirable, fearful societies usually due to a government who does not care about its citizens.
Dystopian fictionis a fast growing genre of literature. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and
Divergent by Veronica Roth are both books which take place in a dystopian future. The Hunger
Games is based in a dystopian North America, called Panem. Panem is separated into the Capitol,
where all the rich and government workers work, and twelve districts,... Show more content on

The flaws in the plans are shown in both The Hunger Games and Divergent by a strong, main
character leading the revolution. In The Hunger Games Katniss is this leader. When she is
competing with Peeta her idea to commit suicide makes the Capitol furious... the one thing they
can t stand is being laughed at and they re the joke of Panem (Collins 416). The Capitol s reaction
to the attempted suicides makes the citizens of Panem aware that their government can be beat,
there is something that they can do to stop Snow. Tris, from Divergent, acts as the character who
shows this to the rebels. She grows up in Abnegation, the faction that no one believes could fight
against Jeanine. The Abnegation are called stiffs because they are believed to be uptight. During
Dauntless initiation everyone is surprised that a stiff [is] the first to jump (Roth 60) when their
bravery is being tested. Tris proves that the Abnegation are capable of fighting. However, the
Abnegation is still attacked by the Erudite, saying that they are corrupt leaders. Tris is the only one
to realize that they are calling for an overthrow of the entire government (Roth 245). She proves to
the city that Erudite has treasonous plans. Without her no one would have been prepared to fight
against Jeanine and start the revolution. In The Hunger Games Katniss is the only person that could
convince the people of Panem to fight. They

The effects of Lead Nitrate contamination on the plant Brassica rapa

Abstract
In my biology class we conducted an experiment to determine if there was a direct correlation
between the concentration of lead levels in soil and the effect it has on plant synthesis and plant
height. The specimen used in the experiment is a species of plant, Brassica rapa. Seeds of B. rapa
were careful planted within every cell of a cubical that was filled with six different concentrations
of lead which was our treatment group and the control was the cubical with no lead soil in it. Plant
height and temperature were recorded with a thermostat and a mm ruler. The results show that lead
concentration does not have a relationship with plant height except in concentration of 100 mg/kg
and 2000 mg/kg. During this three week experiment, the mean of over a hundred students plant
heights were recorded and all the student s plants showed similar results meaning lead nitrate
concentrations in soil does not affect the growth.

A Celebration Of Being A Polynesian Essay
A Celebration for All Aloha! boomed an unfamiliar voice while fierce orange flames pierced into
the air. As the opening boat appeared from around the bend, I noticed women with vivid green
skirts flowing around as if they were wild daisies dancing around in the wind. The front of the
raft had a piece of chestnut wood on it, along with Hawaii inscribed on it. At this moment, I had
realized that the celebration of being a Polynesian had begun and I was more than ready to begin
the journey to experience first hand a different culture. The Polynesian celebration made me realize
that people of any ethnicity and background can come together to experience and enjoy other
cultures with a plethora of people. The first part of the Polynesian pride festivities includes the
introduction of the Polynesians from the Polynesian Triangle, a region of the Pacific Oceanwith
three islands as the triangle points. Rather than having a dull entrance, each of the three islands
came out on boats illuminating radiant colors. Since the celebration was held in Hawaii, the
glistening ruby red Hawaiian boat went first. I have never really experienced a party about being
a Polynesian, so I had no clue what to expect. Soon enough, a colossal sized man with an
abundance of tattoos started chanting and dancing in only a miniscule leaf skirt wrapped around
his waist. He started moving his hips and dancing to the song he was singing while my eyes
bulged out like a pufferfish because I have never seen a

The United States Civil War Essay
The United States Civil War can be considered as one of the darkest times in American history.
The Southern states were fighting for their way of life, and the Northern states were fighting to
preserve the Union. The war had begun in the year of 1861, and it would end in 1865 with the
capture of Jefferson Davis and surrender of Robert E. Lee. The war had begun at the battle of Fort
Sumter. After this battle, the newly elected Abraham Lincoln called for volunteers to join the
Union forces. In 1862, Union and Confederate forces would meet again at the battle of Fort Henry
and Donelson. With the Union succeeding at pushing the Confederate forces further back into the
South, General Grant and his army made their way down the TennesseeRiver. The forces would
meet again at the Battle of Shiloh and Pittsburg Landing. There have been many arguments
supporting the theory that the Confederacy did in fact win at the Battle of Shiloh. Although the
Union lost more troops at this battle, the Confederacy failed in many ways. In order to determine
how exactly they failed, it is important to study what the goal of the Confederacy was at Shiloh
and whether or not they accomplished this goal. In this essay, the Confederacy s goals for attacking
Grant s troops at Shiloh and their failure to accomplish those goals will show just how unsuccessful
the Confederate army truly was at this battle.1
There had been decades of tension between the Southern and Northern states of America. The

Camera not enough to convince consumers If people are not very interested in cameras they
might just make their choice through reputation alone and they might not even be bothered to
look into the phones specs. Operating system Some individuals might not feel comfortable with
the windows 8 system, so they will make their choice based on previous choices such as Android

the Nokia Lumia his best campaign, to market, promoting not only the quality of the product also
the extraordinary camera that has the Nokia Lumia, i.e. that marketing campaign, to have been
based on show the qualities of the camera, its megapixel and high definition. Nokia has reinvented

delivers great looking photos and, all things considered, is reasonably priced, but none of that will
mean much if the Lumia 1020 becomes defined as the 41MP phone sitting in the back of your

Industrialism In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle, By Upton...
Upton Sinclair wrote The Jungle in the hope that not only Americans would find themselves
reading about the dark sides of the common industrial factories, but also people in other countries
as well would see that life for the working class American that had to work in the industrial
industry, specifically as seen in Sinclair s writing the meat packing industrywas a dirty, and
dangerous job for workers all caused by the hands of companies that didn t care about their
employees. In the American Experience book it gives a chapter from the book The Jungle, called
Living and Dying in Packington, Chicago Sinclair writes about the life of an immigrant named
Jurgis Rudkus with glimpses of others in his community and their lives working in factories.
The main points of Sinclair s work even from this small section of the whole writing is very heavy
hitting along with at the time of publication probably was seen as controversial, it was a new type
of writing a story that unfortunately this story was not made up, Sinclair used his experiences
living in the workers ghettos of Packington, studying the people, and meatpacking industry (pg. 72).
Sinclair argues that the companies and their factories are ruining the workers way of life,
physically and mentally, leading to the idea of capitalism and companies becoming so obsessed
with how fast can a product be made then the quality of the product and well being for the
employee (pg.72).
Physically these factories hurt their workers as

What Is Improper Use Of Force
Police officers are allowed to use force as part of their day to day duties. Officers must use their
judgment to determine when the use of force is warranted. In order for officers to make the
appropriate decision, proper training must take place. In order to perform at their best, they must
become familiarized with federal and state court cases, state law, and departmental policies
directing such actions (Lim Lee, 2015). According to Lim Lee (2015) failure to fully understand
and simply just following the regulations can lead to community resistance, loss of public
confidence in law enforcement, and legal liabilities. Improper use of force is one of the few
behaviors that reduce community confidence in policeofficers (Lim Lee, 2015).

British Romantic Poetry As A Revolutionary Part Of England...
British romantic poetry was remarkable for a myriad of reasons. Not only did it vouch for a focus
on nature in literature, but also showed an increased interest in both the emotion of the average
person, and a heightened esteem for imagination as well as the wonder and amazement that
accompanied children. Of course, it showed a darker side of the world as well, with some of the
more distinguished writers focusing on the poor and how they lived. Stylistically, there was also a
clear influence from Greek culture, with many poems taking inspiration from Greece s literature
and culture, along with other supernatural aspects that were added in.
In a place where many types of literature found their start, what made British Romantic poetry a
revolutionary part of England s culture? The answer is simple. Because the genre was so
unique, it attracted many different kinds of people, some of whom would never have been
accepted in any other literary genre. For example, Lord Byron was, by all accounts, an eccentric.
His unique mannerisms and his reportedly very flamboyant attitude earned his hordes of fans who
both devours his work and kept track of his life. Of course, there were more straight laced people as
well, such as John Keats, who started studying to become a doctor and wound up growing into one
of the most loved British poets after his death. Percy Bysshe Shelley, who was the father of the
author of Frankenstein, Mary Shelly, and also a very controversial figure in English

Drug Addiction Is A Huge Problem Essay
Over the recent years, we have seen a sharp incline of drug related overdose here in Flordia.
Although we have heard about some new and still developing preventative approaches, treatments,
legislations and the possibility of drug consumption facilities here in Florida addiction is still a
huge problem. Especially with stronger drugs such as fentanyl being used to cut heroinor sold as
heroin. Furthermore, there s a need to address the underlying issues from addictionsuch as
depression, A.D.H.D, and chronic pain. Ultimately addiction can happen to anyone; a person does
not just wake up one day and decide to do drugs. Something happens to them whether its an
accident and the person is prescribed prescription drugs for pain, peer pressure or many other ways
it can happen to anyone. Which is there is a need for strengthening interventions with the aim of
reducing deaths caused by drug overdose in Florida
Drug addiction rehabilitation centers are a huge money maker here in the United States. Sadly,
when a user is trying to get clean, the doctors prescribe addicts other drugs to help them detox.
However, how often do these addicts stay off drugs? Even worse, how many die from a drug
overdose because all the treatment just doesn t work? There is a need for strengthening
interventions with the aim of reducing deaths caused by drug overdose in Florida. There is no
doubt that news regarding the present nationwide heroin epidemic has gotten much attention.

Lipids
Fatty acids are composed of a hydrophilic carboxylic acid group attached to a fatty hydrophobic
chain of carbon atoms, referred to as the fatty tail. The fatty acids are classified as either saturated or
unsaturated depending on the structure. Saturated fatty acids contain only single bonds with
hydrogen atoms throughout the length of the carbon chain fatty tail and are therefore considered
saturated with hydrogen. The regular structure of saturated fatty acidmolecules makes it possible
for them to stack close together causing them to easily form solids. Saturated fatty acids are solid
at room temperature. Unsaturated fatty acids contain one or more double bonds to hydrogen in the
carbon chain. The double bonds create a bend in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Reliability Analysis
Some researchers argue that the cost of spares is always an area where cost reduction can be of
significant. With the help of suppliers and equipment vendors, purchasing department can place
orders in the form of contracts or Service level agreement (SLA) that guarantee delivery lead times
for the designated inventoryitems. It makes business sense to shift the risk concerning the costof
maintaining the inventory to the suppliers. Reliability is the probability that the plant will perform

Yan et al (2008) Ebeling (1997), pointed out the purpose of maintenance is to extend equipment life
and minimise the frequency of service interruption. Ebeling (1997) concluded that availability is the
important index of the all indices for power availability. Several maintenance types or tactics have
been suggested by many authors for example (Mowbray, 1991 and Kelly, 1997). There are mainly
two types of maintenance practices and these are breakdown and preventive maintenance.
Breakdown maintenance requires replacement of damaged part of the equipment during
unscheduled maintenance while preventive maintenance requires replacement of the components at
pre determined intervals. Condition based maintenance is used to monitor the condition of the
equipment using condition monitoring technique.
There is a general belief that corrective maintenance is less economical than preventive
maintenance, and all failures can then be prevented. This approach to preventive maintenance
firstly wastes a lot of resources in doing unnecessary tasks which will not improve equipment or
system availability and secondly it is potentially risk (Tsang,1995).Principal argument in favour of

The Importance Of Acculturation In America
Acculturation is the process of how a person or a group of people adapt into another culture by
taking small pieces of that culture into their own culture. It is the idea of blend in with another
culture, other than your own. For example, my family and relatives came to the United States for a
little over 10 years now and some of the family members have assimilated into the American culture
by beginning to celebrate the holidays, during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Further,
we are remaining embedded in the ethnic of being Hmong. Many of us decided to come to America
to obtain a better lifestyle, and the America society has greatly impact our life to assimilate into the
American culture.
The society and community influence our behaviors of what we like, see, do and act as a child with
or without our parents authority. For instance, if the parents choose to raise their children in an
urban environment with a lot of opportunities to make money via street crime, then those young
children have a likelihood of becoming involve with that sort of lifestyle. Because the youngsters
are pure and innocent, they are sensitive to everything around them. They are conscious taking
pieces of another culture into their own and their lifestyle start to change, include customs, beliefs,
behaviors, and value. In addition, the parents choices and the community or environment have great
influence on young children s life and development. A lot of the products in store are

The Seven Deadly Sins
The modern concept of the Seven Deadly Sins is linked to the works of the 4th century monk
Evagrius Ponticus. He composed a list of sins, from the problems he saw in his own day. His list
included the following sins: Gluttony, Lust, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride. The vice of Lust
is exceedingly prevalent in modern society.
Lust is evident in headlining news Jared Fogle sentenced to 15 years in prison for child

Examining Canadian Discrimination within a Society in...
Every individual in society is guaranteed a certain amount of protection and equality from the state
regardless of their situation or background. Depending on how the terms discrimination and
equality are interpreted in the courts will those rights apply.
In the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, section 15 consists of two subsections which will be
examined in terms of discrimination within society. As stated in section 15 (1) Every individual is
equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection of the law without

There are ways for the courts to prevent things such as trivial matters in courts through proper
interpretation. There are two ways courts can interpret matters, there is the textual and contextual
approach. In this situation, the approach would be more contextual as it would focus on the use
of reason to interpret the law beyond what is in the statute and more based on societal factors.8
Societal factors refer to a person s economic, financial, educational, or a person s background.
Some people in society have a low standing in all these factors, which would put them at a
disadvantage and most laws reflect those needs.
All these factors contribute to how the Andrews case and other issues could be used to support the
inclusion of the terms social condition and social class within section 15 of the Charter. There are
other elements that can support this such as the type of equality that is involved and how it relates
to human dignity
This case is significant in terms of this paper since the courts discussed some key principles
concerning section 15. One of those principles claims that Section 15 is not, however, a general
guarantee of equality: differential treatment does not necessarily result in inequality... .3 In most
circumstances, this can be considered true as the Charter cannot provide protection for every single
issue, otherwise people would go to

Artificial Selection And Its Effects On Our Health
It would probably surprise most people to learn that broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, and
kohlrabi all hail from wild cabbage (Brassica oleracea), due to a process called artificial selection.
Over thousands of years humanity has manipulated plants and animals using artificial selection.
However, we now have a different process called genetic engineering, which opens new doors to
countless applications such as, genetically modifying plants to become cold, resistant. Traditionally
we would have to rely on artificial selection, but now we can manipulate the genetic material of
organisms. However, with new technology comes an issue of environmental impact. The very same
organisms that we create can become exceedingly detrimental to the environment it s ecosystems.
Concerns on the effects of these organisms on our health are justified as they can be a benefit or
detriment. To better appreciate genetic engineering, we first must explore artificial selection and its
history. Artificial selection is the process in which humans breed organisms based on physical traits
they want to further enhanced or eliminate, in a way artificial selection relies heavy on the
phenotype of the organism. Which is the physical trait expressed by genes. An example would be
the domestication of the dog. Around 15,000 to 16,000 years ago, we began to breed wolves and
actively select for tameness. Li et al. (2013), found this rapid evolution was probably driven by
artificial selection during the

Women s Rights Activist Analysis
Many women s rights activists have been at the forefront of confronting domestic violence and
other issues affecting women. Due to the government s suspicion of large scale protests and
rallies, many activists rely on creatively presenting their activism as art, which does not require as
many people participating in such demonstrations and arouses less attention by the government.
China requires many NGOs to work with official government organizations such as the All China
Women s Federation. However, realizing the need for a more grassroots approach rather than an
imposed top down approach, many activists take activism into their own hands. For example, Li
Maizi and a group of women wore white wedding gowns splattered with fake blood in Beijing

The Trench Monologue
Click. The tape recorder started up.
It was dirty that s for sure. The rats ate at your toes and the smell was horrible.
Ed paused and wiped a tear from his eye, staring right across the table at his grandson, who
preceded to ask the age old question.
What really happened that day Grandad?
The grey sky hung close to 16 year old Ed and the other soldiers as they stood, lined up in the
trench. Rain poured heavily over their helmets, draining into the mud. The French sun hid hazily in
the smog covered sky. THUD THUD THUD, cannons pounded shells through the air, towards the

The machine gunner who had spared his life was slumped over, motionless.
Moonlight flooded into the trench as the patrol officers found Ed curled up in a ball, weeping.

Historical Context
The act of dividing history into separate sections is often the focus of debate amongst historians.
Historians have a common understanding for these divisions of time which assist in providing a
platform for which to explore beyond. Critical history should be as much concerned with
contrastive fields and rejections of the norm as with similarities. But the conventional must be
known before the unconventional can be recognized. This notion described by Alastair Fowler will
ultimately result in a defined focus on the minute variances within history. Therefore, subdividing
history into these periods will assist in finding idiosyncrasies of the composer s from that era. This
consensus offers a generalised idea of the social context that is crucial... Show more content on

Furthermore, studying history, which entails encompassing ideologies, has caused additional
confusion in regard to the parameters of individual terms. Although a comprehensive focus to detail
is produced from periodization, important factors are left unidentified leading to crucial links
missing from the timeline of music history. The social, political and economical aspects associated
with these musical periods are often broad and neglect the occasional shifts in these factors. Period
terms produces additional difficulty when analysing a particular composer with regard to determine
individuality. These overlooked shifts are concealed by the generalised notions of the societal
discourse present within a certain period. Ralph Cohen states that change and development in
literary texts ought to be analysed in terms of their genre over a period of time, the duration of
which is, in turn, determined by identifiable changes in the texts belonging to that particular genre.
Similarly, Mattix expands on this point and indicates that it would be more beneficial to think of
history in regard to changes within genres rather than in arbitrary period terms. Therefore, both
Mattix and Cohen advocate this method as a substitute focal point as opposed to a focus on the
period. This perception when studying music history will effectively assist in contrasting the
characteristics of the composers and compositions as well as build a greater understanding of the
music, composers and sociological factors. This, consequently, creates a gap in the transformation
of music and divides these segments of time even further. Further confusion is created between
historians and, an authors credibility can become undone as the result. Therefore, music history
should not be limited to confined segmentations so as to allow historians to explored purposely

Mount St. Helens is an active volcano in the Cascade Range (see Figure 1) . It is situated in

Intense earthquake activity persisted during this time and aerial observations indicated that the
earthquakes had induced small avalanches of snow and ice. As early as March 31st, volcanic
tremors had begun to be observed on seismographs. Volcanic tremor is a continuous, rhythmic
ground shaking that is generally longer in duration and more continuous than that produced by
an earthquake of similar amplitude. As a result of these data, scientists believed that a magma
eruption from Mount St. Helens was very likely (Mounsthelens.com, 2014). However, no
eruptive activity was observed between late April and early May at which time small steam blast
eruptions began again. These ceased on May 16th. During this time, the north face of the volcano
was becoming distended and cracks were appearing. The bulge grew at a rate of about 1.5 metres
per day to more than 135m higher than before the magma intrusion. The bulge eventually
collapsed and triggered the eruption and subsequent events of May 18, 1980. See Figure 3 for a

What Is The Rising Action In The Cask Of Amontillado
The Cask of AMontillado by Edgar Allan Poe is a short story in which the writer used the
elements of plot to make the story interesting, and give off a variety of signals or feelings to the
reader. The rising action becomes a pile of conflict when Poe hides the nature of the main character
in order to make the final outcome of the story even more shocking. The exposition, or setting up of
the story gave the reader a creepy vibe, which the author then used to pull the entire story together.
The resolution of the story made it very clear that the narrator had absolutely no remorse for the
crime he committed. These are all key points in the story that helped the author to create an

Omelas Moral Dilemma
Omelas Moral Dilemma In The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas Ursula LeGuin is raising
the moral dilemma of justice vs. happiness. The happiness of the citizens in Omelas depends on
the suffering of a child locked in a closet. She briefly describes the contrast between the child s
situation and the citizens position, portraying a moral dilemma, which is when you have to
choose to do one of two equally unpleasant things. LeGuin portrays an ideal life boats in the

Men and women walk the streets, and weep at the fact of the child in the cellar. The child in the
cellar is the existence of why the Omelas treat their children gentle but yet full of compassion
and joyful love for happiness. The tearless rage, treatment, freedom, and acceptance of the
Omelas to the child have long ever to be free and fearful. Therefore, happiness seems to be at the
expense of justice. The folks were not simple folk, though they were happy (1312). They would
not use the word cheer anymore because they weren t cheerful (1312), but yet all smiles would
become archaic (1312). They didn t have slaves or swords nor did they use their people as
barbarians (1312). Yet their society, rules, and laws were especially less complex, but the people
of Omelas were not less complex than us (1312). The trouble was encouraged by sophisticates
considering happiness rather than being stupid (1312). Their children were happy, mature and
intelligent; perhaps happiness is based on what is neither necessary nor destructive. Omelas
strikes some as all smiles and good people. The people of the Omelas have guilt, and the joy they
have is built on successful slaughter. What swells the hearts of Omelas is the boundless, generous
and magnanimous triumph in souls of all men and against some other enemy. The people of

Synthesis with Why We Are Infidels and Imagine There s No Heaven

Rushdie both authors give hidden meanings when reading between the lines of each essay. The
authors Rushdie and Doctorow might have completely different writing styles, but they both focus
on humanism when it comes to these two writings. With the idea of humanism both writers heavily
use logos, pathos and ethos to obtain the deeper meaning. In Imagine There s No Heaven Rushdie

Doctorow then makes points through the ideas he wrote. Doctorow writes, our religions or

author then shows that American need spiritual connection and is why Americans practice their
beliefs. Doctorow then uses the statement, The abolitionists decried slavery as sin against God. The
South claimed biblical authority for its slaveholding and the statement Ku Klux Klan and other
white supremacy groups invoked Jesus as a sponsor of their racism (388). Doctorow obviously
makes proof that Americans only use religion to show hatred and their reasons for crime. The use
of logos is used a lot and Doctorow specifically uses it to make the readers understand the title and
overall meaning of what Why We are Infidels is supposed to mean. Doctorow then makes
statements that show that he thinks infidels give hatred because of their differences in religious

both tubes at room temperature for 10 minutes. All of these events could have been done with
greater precision. Some of the tubes may have been exposed to their given environment over or

procedure asked for crushed ice and ice cubes were used in the experiment. This could have had
an effect on the temperature needed for the creation of competent cells. On the other hand, an
improvement that could be made is pipetting. 0.25mL of CaCl2 solution was put into both tubes
using an open pipette. But, it was possible for a mistake to occur with the chance of air bubbles
or imprecision to the required amount. This would affect the amount of the CaCl2 solution that

may be how spread the substances were amongst the plate. The greater the distance spread around

The Theme Of Marigolds InMarigolds, By Virginia Hurst
Guilt is like a sickness. If you don t get medicine, no matter how much you wait it out, the
sickness is staying with you. No matter how much time passes, if you don t deal with your guilt,
it will stick with you and never go away. The main character in Marigolds by Eugenia Collier ruins
an elderly woman s beautiful marigolds because of her own issues. The main characterin The
Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst leaves his handicapped brother alone in the woods and comes back to
find that he s dead. Lastly, the main character in The Cat s In The Cradle never takes part in his sons

Analysis Of Pathos In Never Cry Wolf
A little town of Churchill, wolves creep in the shadows to find food. The caribou are scarce, and
the wolves need to find food to eat. In the book around the time of 1963, Never Cry Wolf a
scientist named Farley Mowat goes to the arctic to go and study wolves. There are very few
caribou and Mowat wants to see what the wolves are eating and doing to stay alive. Many
people of the town of Churchill believe that wolves are blood thirsty killers but after a long time
of being with the wolves, Mowat figures out that is just not the case. Mowat uses
emotion(pathos), humor and irony throughout the book. Mowat uses the strategy of pathos
many times throughout the book. At the beginning of the book, Mowat goes around Churchill
and asks the natives what they thought about the wolves. He believed that people weren t telling
the truth or they were just uneducated about the wolves, he sort of felt bad for them. In the book
there was a guy that wouldn t let him go on the plane to get to the wolves. The pilot said, Only
nuts hire planes to go somewhere they don t know where; and only nuts expect a guy to go off

Product Description Of Rat And Monkey Based Experiments Essay
Adipotide: Product Description
Adipotide is a synthetic peptide that possesses anti obesity properties. this peptide particularly
targets and destroys specific proteins that constitute the surface of blood vessels that support
white fat (adipose) tissue hence interfering with the supply of blood to the fat cells and resulting
in their adoptosis (reabsorption and metabolization). Adipotide was initially referred to as
Prohibitin TP01 (Prohibitin Targeting Peptide 1). It is a peptidomimetic that was synthesized by
American scientists as a potential therapeutic drug for obesity and its amino acid sequence is
CKGGRAKDC GG D(KLAKLAK)2. Adipotide has a molecular formula of
C111H204N36O28S2. Peptidomimetics are tiny protein like chains that imitate peptides. It is an
experimental drug for weight loss. It was developed in a way that enables it to bind to two
receptors, prohibitin and ANXA2 which are found in blood vessels that support white adipose tissue
. In rat and monkey based experiments, Adipotide has been shown to bring about rapid weight loss
in both mice and rhesus monkeys. In general, Adipotide has been observed to bring about weight

Over time, cats may develop an enlargement or thickening of the left ventricle2
. Both lesions of
the heart may result in echocardiographic changes which are indistinguishable from one another,
and therefore echocardiogram is not always a useful tool in differentiating between primary and
secondary cardiomyopathy.
This paper evaluated plasma concentrations of two cardiac biomarkers; N terminal
probrain natriuretic peptide (NT proBNP) and cardiac troponin I (cTNI). NT proBNP is secreted
in response to myocardial stretch, and cTNI is released from the cytosol of damaged
cardiomyocytes2
. These biomarkers were evaluated in the plasma to identify if a possible
correlation between plasma concentrations of the biomarkers and cardiomyopathies existed.
Previous studies in hyperthyroid humans have shown that increased plasma concentrations of
NT proBNP and T4, which stimulates BPN release from cardiomyocytes, indicating a change in
the heart due to hyperthyroidism3
. No such study has been done to compare plasma

Literary Criticism Of The Lottery By Shirley Jackson
Shirley Jackson has written many short stories throughout her career as a writer and continuous to
be one of the most brilliant and influential authors of the twentieth century. The Lottery remains to
be one of the greatest known and most widely discussed work among literary critics. Jackson was
inspired to write this story while she was walking down the Prospect hill with her baby, once she
went back home it just took her about three hours to write The Lotteryand it only took about three
weeks to be published in The New York Times. This story exposes how a small town of only three
hundred habitants has a yearly custom of a lottery that tremendously shocks the reader when he or
she finds out what the price is. Jackson got a lot of criticism... Show more content on

Essay On Eastern European Human Trafficking
Eastern Europe: The Trafficking of People Slavery is when individuals are possessed and
controlled by different persons, and they have limited to no freedom. In Eastern Europe slavery
ended in 1528, but human trafficking has been carrying on for myriads of years. A few decrees did
not stop the appalling crime called human trafficking. By definition human trafficking is current
day slavery; people that are victims are confined and worked until they are physically incapable to
any longer. Many people turn a blind eye to human trafficking. Despite the insignificant efforts of
various governments, Eastern European human trafficking is on the rise, contributing to an
increase in the economic exploration of the victims of human trafficking.
The state of human trafficking has developed through the decade and there has been an increase.
In the year 2000 only eight cases of human trafficking were recorded, soon after in 2008, there
were thirty seven cases reported in forty of the European countries(Sarrica 5). Of those forty
countries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Government officials have been convicted of human trafficking crimes, and there have been reports
of local officials obstructing trafficking investigations ( US state Department 314). The government
of Romina does nothing to stop human trafficking and has been caught covering up the subject. A
large majority of the Eastern European countries are doing the minim or nothing at all to stop
human trafficking. Although governments such as Hungary have tried to do something, it is not
enough positive to weigh out the negative. Romina s own officials have been caught in the midst of
human trafficking cases, and the police are attempting to cover trafficking up (Deutsche 3). This is
obstruction of Justice and basic human

How To Carry Concealed Weapons
My first article touches on the subject of concealed carry in the District Of Columbia.
Unlike other states and places that simply require you to desire to carry a concealed weapon, you
must provide reason such as domestic abuse or proof of stalking. A generalized fear of personal
safety is not valid. excuses such as past robberies and burglaries are still not valid as said by the
police chief. The police are they only people who can judge whether or not someone could be a
threat by looking at them.
The next article i read is about how to correctly carry a concealed weapon. They say that there
would be less crime if you didn t know who was carrying or not. This article also offers online

Pros And Cons Of Sleep Apnoea
TREATMENTS OF SLEEP APNOEA Sleep Apnoea Occurs when the walls of your throat come
together during sleep blocking off the airway above your trachea. CPAP (Continuous Positive
Airway Pressure) is considered to be the most effective treatment of sleep apnoea for the reason
that it reduces night time sleeplessness as compared to oral appliance. In the discussion below
will consider the argument for the treatments of sleep apnoea and which treatments is the most
effective whether CPAP or Oral Appliance. CPAP therapy is been considered as the most
common effective treatment for sleep apnoea in adults. A CPAP is a machine which uses a
mask that fits over the throat. It gently blows air into the throat and the pressure from the air
helps to keep the airway open while asleep (Moses, n.d). However, some patients of sleep apnoea
still find it uncomfortable with CPAP therapy so they tend to use oral appliance therapy as it has
aside effect which causes dry mouth, but it comes with a humidifier which adds moisture to the
air as it flows and also used for patients with mild to moderate sleep apnoea who do not respond to
CPAP therapy (Downey, 2014). Therefore, the use of CAP therapy as a treatment for sleep apnoea
seems to be effective for moderate to severe sleep apnoea.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

CPAP therapy eradicates breathing stoppages caused by sleep apnoea, so that patients will stop
snoring or unusual congestion noises in their sleep (Sleepeducation.com, 2014).Patients will be
able to sleep throughout the night without the waking disturbances. Nevertheless ,due to poor
mask fittings as complains from some patients, oral appliance is considered to be convenient and
easy to wear because it only takes few days to get used to it(AADSM, 2014) but it s limits varies
from mild to moderate. Henceforth CPAP suggests the smoothness of sleep for patients with sleep
apnoea in moderate to severe

The Importance of Information Literacy Essay
Information literacy skills are used for academic purposes, such as research papers and group
presentations. They are used on the job the ability to find, evaluate, use and share information is an
essential skill. They are also used in consumer decisions, such as which car or vacuum cleaner to
purchase, are critical. Last but not least, they are used by informed citizens in participating fully in
a democratic society through voting (Kenney, 2007).
Information literacy is conceivably the foundation for learning in contemporary environment of
continuous technological change. As information and communication technologies develop rapidly,
and the information environment becomes increasingly complex, educators are recognizing the
need for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They know where to look for the answer to both the common everyday information needs and for
the answer to the more perplexing, less easily addressed, problems of life. They are familiar not
just with where to look but also with the tools and processes required to find those answers. Zabel
(2007) points out that efforts to train students to be adept at attaining information through a variety
of mechanisms must be integrated, relevant, ongoing, collaborative, and applied if they are to be
successful in preparing those students for success in their academic and professional careers (Zabel
,2007).
For students to be adequately informed about the value of the university library and resources such
as the Internet in information retrieval there must be a careful collaboration between teaching staff
and library staff (Kenney, 2007). The focus in this task, of course, is preparing students not just for
the immediate research project at hand but rather to prepare them to be life long learners, to
prepare them to be successful and productive once they leave the academic environment and take
up their chosen careers (Lauer Yodanis, 2012).
A search for information can take a variety of routes. It might entail a visit to the university library
or to some other organization that maintains information on a particular subject. Academic libraries
are indeed a critical tool in information

The Importance Of Government Privacy
The government, that is responsible for protecting citizens, has the power to spy and monitor
people. Sometimes, surveillances are useful for catching criminals. Oftentimes, over monitoring
individuals may violates personal freedoms and sometimes the government over exceeds its
boundaries to obtain personal information. There are four types of privacyrelated activities that a
federal, state, and local government can have control over. The first activity deals with collection of
information of individual citizens. After the collection of this information, a government may store,
manipulate, or use this data against someone. Third, this collected information may spread to other
agencies. Finally, sharing personal information may disrupt someone s daily activities and solitude.
There are various ways in which the government and law enforcement can gather information of
private citizens. For example, census records collect information about households related to
ethnicity, language, marital status, or lifestyles. Other collection gathering methods like the
Internal Revenue Service (IRS) collects names, social security numbers, income, and assets of each
US worker. Some collection records are also necessary to detect potential criminals. For instance,
the FBI National Crime Information Center2000 (NCIC) contains 13 million records of potential
stolen automobiles, stolen license plates, missing guns, other stolen goods, and missing persons
records. Another way to detect

Fahrenheit 451 Unit 9 Final Project
The mid August heat is blazing as crews break down the temporary stage from last night s
concert. The stage was set in what looks to be almost a half mile long and football field wide dry
river bed. I can see the appeal of placing a stage here with the Aventine and Palatine Hills on each
side to accommodate hundreds of thousands of spectators who would be able to see the stage.
Once the stage is broken down this prime real estate in the middle of Rome, Italy will serve as a
large park, but it was not always this way, the same reasons this park is used for concerts today
is why the Circus Maximus was constructed here in the Valley of Murcia, Rome. The Circus
Maximus began with the Valley of Murcia being used much as it is today. A small stream which
ran off the Tiber river would dry enough to race around the banks. The natural rise of the land on
the sides of the valley allowed spectators to sit. It was not until King Romulus created the first
raised wooden seating that the Circus Maximus as we picture it was... Show more content on

Next stone track side seating for politicians was added. Julius Caesar extended the wooden
seating to encompass almost the entire track. This is when the first version of the Circus
Maximus, as we picture it, was completed. Throughout the five centuries it took to develop the
Circus to this point, fire and rot were its biggest opposition requiring constant reconstruction. It is
believed that the threat of fire caused Emperor Trajan to rebuild the Circus in the newly
discovered concrete, marble, stone, and only the top section in wood. It was he who had the spina
built connecting the two metae to represent the broken spine of the enemies of Rome with the
obelisk placed by Emperor Augustus as the center piece. This was the final version of the Circus
Maximus and was left generally

The Capitol s reaction to the attempted suicides makes the citizens of Panem aware that their government can be beat, there is something that they can do to stop Snow. Tiller III, Corey Biology Department Birmingham Southern College Date: October 24, 2016 Teacher: Jennifer Kelly Abstract In my biology class we conducted an experiment to determine if there was a direct correlation between the concentration of lead levels in soil and the effect it has on plant synthesis and plant height. The specimen used in the experiment is a species of plant, Brassica rapa. Seeds of B. rapa were careful planted within every cell of a cubical that was filled with six different concentrations of lead which was our treatment group and the control was the cubical with no lead soil in it. Plant height and temperature were recorded with a thermostat and a mm ruler. The results show that lead concentration does not have a relationship with plant height except in concentration of 100 mg/kg and 2000 mg/kg. During this three week experiment, the mean of over a hundred students plant heights were recorded and all the student s plants showed similar results meaning lead nitrate concentrations in soil does not affect the growth. As the opening boat appeared from around the bend, I noticed women with vivid green skirts flowing around as if they were wild daisies dancing around in the wind. The front of the raft had a piece of chestnut wood on it, along with Hawaii inscribed on it. At this moment, I had realized that the celebration of being a Polynesian had begun and I was more than ready to begin the journey to experience first hand a different culture. The Polynesian celebration made me realize that people of any ethnicity and background can come together to experience and enjoy other cultures with a plethora of people. The first part of the Polynesian pride festivities includes the introduction of the Polynesians from the Polynesian Triangle, a region of the Pacific Oceanwith three islands as the triangle points. Rather than having a dull entrance, each of the three islands came out on boats illuminating radiant colors. Since the celebration was held in Hawaii, the glistening ruby red Hawaiian boat went first. I have never really experienced a party about being a Polynesian, so I had no clue what to expect. Soon enough, a colossal sized man with an abundance of tattoos started chanting and dancing in only a miniscule leaf skirt wrapped around his waist. He started moving his hips and dancing to the song he was singing while my eyes bulged out like a pufferfish because I have never seen a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Southern states were fighting for their way of life, and the Northern states were fighting to preserve the Union. The war had begun in the year of 1861, and it would end in 1865 with the capture of Jefferson Davis and surrender of Robert E. Lee. The war had begun at the battle of Fort Sumter. After this battle, the newly elected Abraham Lincoln called for volunteers to join the Union forces. In 1862, Union and Confederate forces would meet again at the battle of Fort Henry and Donelson. With the Union succeeding at pushing the Confederate forces further back into the South, General Grant and his army made their way down the TennesseeRiver. Although the Union lost more troops at this battle, the Confederacy failed in many ways. In order to determine how exactly they failed, it is important to study what the goal of the Confederacy was at Shiloh and whether or not they accomplished this goal. In this essay, the Confederacy s goals for attacking Grant s troops at Shiloh and their failure to accomplish those goals will show just how unsuccessful the Confederate army truly was at this battle.1 There had been decades of tension between the Southern and Northern states of America. • 12. British Romantic Poetry As A Revolutionary Part Of England... British romantic poetry was remarkable for a myriad of reasons. Not only did it vouch for a focus on nature in literature, but also showed an increased interest in both the emotion of the average person, and a heightened esteem for imagination as well as the wonder and amazement that accompanied children. Of course, it showed a darker side of the world as well, with some of the more distinguished writers focusing on the poor and how they lived. Stylistically, there was also a clear influence from Greek culture, with many poems taking inspiration from Greece s literature and culture, along with other supernatural aspects that were added in. In a place where many types of literature found their start, what made British Romantic poetry a revolutionary part of England s culture? The answer is simple. Because the genre was so unique, it attracted many different kinds of people, some of whom would never have been accepted in any other literary genre. For example, Lord Byron was, by all accounts, an eccentric. His unique mannerisms and his reportedly very flamboyant attitude earned his hordes of fans who both devours his work and kept track of his life. Of course, there were more straight laced people as well, such as John Keats, who started studying to become a doctor and wound up growing into one of the most loved British poets after his death. Percy Bysshe Shelley, who was the father of the author of Frankenstein, Mary Shelly, and also a very controversial figure in English ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Several maintenance types or tactics have been suggested by many authors for example (Mowbray, 1991 and Kelly, 1997). There are mainly two types of maintenance practices and these are breakdown and preventive maintenance. Breakdown maintenance requires replacement of damaged part of the equipment during unscheduled maintenance while preventive maintenance requires replacement of the components at pre determined intervals. Condition based maintenance is used to monitor the condition of the equipment using condition monitoring technique. There is a general belief that corrective maintenance is less economical than preventive maintenance, and all failures can then be prevented. This approach to preventive maintenance firstly wastes a lot of resources in doing unnecessary tasks which will not improve equipment or system availability and secondly it is potentially risk (Tsang,1995).Principal argument in favour of detailed and integrated asset information system that is accurate and unchallenged information is available to anyone with skills to analyse and interpret it for the benefit of a company (Sherwin, 2000).Predictive scheduling relies more on ... For example, my family and relatives came to the United States for a little over 10 years now and some of the family members have assimilated into the American culture by beginning to celebrate the holidays, during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Every individual in society is guaranteed a certain amount of protection and equality from the state regardless of their situation or background. Depending on how the terms discrimination and equality are interpreted in the courts will those rights apply. There are two ways courts can interpret matters, there is the textual and contextual approach. In this situation, the approach would be more contextual as it would focus on the use of reason to interpret the law beyond what is in the statute and more based on societal factors.8 Societal factors refer to a person s economic, financial, educational, or a person s background. Some people in society have a low standing in all these factors, which would put them at a disadvantage and most laws reflect those needs. All these factors contribute to how the Andrews case and other issues could be used to support the inclusion of the terms social condition and social class within section 15 of the Charter. There are other elements that can support this such as the type of equality that is involved and how it relates to human dignity This case is significant in terms of this paper since the courts discussed some key principles concerning section 15. One of those principles claims that Section 15 is not, however, a general guarantee of equality: differential treatment does not necessarily result in inequality... .3 In most circumstances, this can be considered true as the Charter cannot provide protection for every single issue, otherwise people would go to ... • 21. Artificial Selection And Its Effects On Our Health It would probably surprise most people to learn that broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, and kohlrabi all hail from wild cabbage (Brassica oleracea), due to a process called artificial selection. Over thousands of years humanity has manipulated plants and animals using artificial selection. However, we now have a different process called genetic engineering, which opens new doors to countless applications such as, genetically modifying plants to become cold, resistant. Traditionally we would have to rely on artificial selection, but now we can manipulate the genetic material of organisms. However, with new technology comes an issue of environmental impact. The very same organisms that we create can become exceedingly detrimental to the environment it s ecosystems. Concerns on the effects of these organisms on our health are justified as they can be a benefit or detriment. To better appreciate genetic engineering, we first must explore artificial selection and its history. Artificial selection is the process in which humans breed organisms based on physical traits they want to further enhanced or eliminate, in a way artificial selection relies heavy on the phenotype of the organism. Which is the physical trait expressed by genes. An example would be the domestication of the dog. Around 15,000 to 16,000 years ago, we began to breed wolves and actively select for tameness. Li et al. (2013), found this rapid evolution was probably driven by artificial selection during the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Historians have a common understanding for these divisions of time which assist in providing a platform for which to explore beyond. Although a comprehensive focus to detail is produced from periodization, important factors are left unidentified leading to crucial links missing from the timeline of music history. The social, political and economical aspects associated with these musical periods are often broad and neglect the occasional shifts in these factors. Period terms produces additional difficulty when analysing a particular composer with regard to determine individuality. These overlooked shifts are concealed by the generalised notions of the societal discourse present within a certain period. Ralph Cohen states that change and development in literary texts ought to be analysed in terms of their genre over a period of time, the duration of which is, in turn, determined by identifiable changes in the texts belonging to that particular genre. Similarly, Mattix expands on this point and indicates that it would be more beneficial to think of history in regard to changes within genres rather than in arbitrary period terms. Therefore, both Mattix and Cohen advocate this method as a substitute focal point as opposed to a focus on the period. This perception when studying music history will effectively assist in contrasting the characteristics of the composers and compositions as well as build a greater understanding of the music, composers and sociological factors. This, consequently, creates a gap in the transformation of music and divides these segments of time even further. Further confusion is created between historians and, an authors credibility can become undone as the result. Adipotide was initially referred to as Prohibitin TP01 (Prohibitin Targeting Peptide 1). It is a peptidomimetic that was synthesized by American scientists as a potential therapeutic drug for obesity and its amino acid sequence is CKGGRAKDC GG D(KLAKLAK)2. Adipotide has a molecular formula of C111H204N36O28S2. Peptidomimetics are tiny protein like chains that imitate peptides. It is an experimental drug for weight loss. It was developed in a way that enables it to bind to two receptors, prohibitin and ANXA2 which are found in blood vessels that support white adipose tissue . In rat and monkey based experiments, Adipotide has been shown to bring about rapid weight loss in both mice and rhesus monkeys. In general, Adipotide has been observed to bring about weight loss by reducing fat tissue especially in the abdominal region), rapid metabolic changes, and decreased food intake. • 41. Cardiomyopathy Case Study Cardiac abnormalities are often detected during physical examination of hyperthyroid cats1 . These abnormalities are diverse and can appear as subtle, clinically inconsequential myocardial changes but also as severe changes which could be associated with the development of heart failure leading to death. Often times, it is difficult to determine whether cardiac abnormalities that persist after the treatment and resolution of hyperthyroidism are the result of the hyperthyroidism or a primary cardiac disease1 . The most common form of primary myocardial disease in cats is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), which is the hypertrophy of a nondilated ventricle that occurs when there is no metabolic stimuli or altered blood flow such as hyperthyroidism ... Both lesions of the heart may result in echocardiographic changes which are indistinguishable from one another, and therefore echocardiogram is not always a useful tool in differentiating between primary and secondary cardiomyopathy. This paper evaluated plasma concentrations of two cardiac biomarkers; N terminal probrain natriuretic peptide (NT proBNP) and cardiac troponin I (cTNI). NT proBNP is secreted in response to myocardial stretch, and cTNI is released from the cytosol of damaged cardiomyocytes2 . These biomarkers were evaluated in the plasma to identify if a possible

  • 44. Essay On Eastern European Human Trafficking Eastern Europe: The Trafficking of People Slavery is when individuals are possessed and controlled by different persons, and they have limited to no freedom. In Eastern Europe slavery ended in 1528, but human trafficking has been carrying on for myriads of years. A few decrees did not stop the appalling crime called human trafficking. By definition human trafficking is current day slavery; people that are victims are confined and worked until they are physically incapable to any longer. Many people turn a blind eye to human trafficking. Despite the insignificant efforts of various governments, Eastern European human trafficking is on the rise, contributing to an increase in the economic exploration of the victims of human trafficking. The state of human trafficking has developed through the decade and there has been an increase. • 46. Pros And Cons Of Sleep Apnoea TREATMENTS OF SLEEP APNOEA Sleep Apnoea Occurs when the walls of your throat come together during sleep blocking off the airway above your trachea. CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) is considered to be the most effective treatment of sleep apnoea for the reason that it reduces night time sleeplessness as compared to oral appliance. In the discussion below will consider the argument for the treatments of sleep apnoea and which treatments is the most effective whether CPAP or Oral Appliance. CPAP therapy is been considered as the most common effective treatment for sleep apnoea in adults. A CPAP is a machine which uses a mask that fits over the throat. It gently blows air into the throat and the pressure from the air helps to keep the airway open while asleep (Moses, n.d). However, some patients of sleep apnoea still find it uncomfortable with CPAP therapy so they tend to use oral appliance therapy as it has aside effect which causes dry mouth, but it comes with a humidifier which adds moisture to the air as it flows and also used for patients with mild to moderate sleep apnoea who do not respond to CPAP therapy (Downey, 2014). Therefore, the use of CAP therapy as a treatment for sleep apnoea seems to be effective for moderate to severe sleep apnoea.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. The Importance of Information Literacy Essay Information literacy skills are used for academic purposes, such as research papers and group presentations. They are used on the job the ability to find, evaluate, use and share information is an essential skill. They are also used in consumer decisions, such as which car or vacuum cleaner to purchase, are critical. Last but not least, they are used by informed citizens in participating fully in a democratic society through voting (Kenney, 2007). They know where to look for the answer to both the common everyday information needs and for the answer to the more perplexing, less easily addressed, problems of life. They are familiar not just with where to look but also with the tools and processes required to find those answers. Zabel (2007) points out that efforts to train students to be adept at attaining information through a variety of mechanisms must be integrated, relevant, ongoing, collaborative, and applied if they are to be successful in preparing those students for success in their academic and professional careers (Zabel ,2007). For students to be adequately informed about the value of the university library and resources such as the Internet in information retrieval there must be a careful collaboration between teaching staff and library staff (Kenney, 2007). The focus in this task, of course, is preparing students not just for the immediate research project at hand but rather to prepare them to be life long learners, to prepare them to be successful and productive once they leave the academic environment and take up their chosen careers (Lauer Yodanis, 2012). A search for information can take a variety of routes. It might entail a visit to the university library or to some other organization that maintains information on a particular subject. • 48. The Importance Of Government Privacy The government, that is responsible for protecting citizens, has the power to spy and monitor people. Sometimes, surveillances are useful for catching criminals. Oftentimes, over monitoring individuals may violates personal freedoms and sometimes the government over exceeds its boundaries to obtain personal information. There are four types of privacyrelated activities that a federal, state, and local government can have control over. The first activity deals with collection of information of individual citizens. After the collection of this information, a government may store, manipulate, or use this data against someone. Third, this collected information may spread to other agencies. Finally, sharing personal information may disrupt someone s daily activities and solitude. There are various ways in which the government and law enforcement can gather information of private citizens. For example, census records collect information about households related to ethnicity, language, marital status, or lifestyles. Other collection gathering methods like the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) collects names, social security numbers, income, and assets of each US worker. Some collection records are also necessary to detect potential criminals. For instance, the FBI National Crime Information Center2000 (NCIC) contains 13 million records of potential stolen automobiles, stolen license plates, missing guns, other stolen goods, and missing persons records. • 50. Fahrenheit 451 Unit 9 Final Project The mid August heat is blazing as crews break down the temporary stage from last night s concert. The stage was set in what looks to be almost a half mile long and football field wide dry river bed. I can see the appeal of placing a stage here with the Aventine and Palatine Hills on each side to accommodate hundreds of thousands of spectators who would be able to see the stage. Once the stage is broken down this prime real estate in the middle of Rome, Italy will serve as a large park, but it was not always this way, the same reasons this park is used for concerts today is why the Circus Maximus was constructed here in the Valley of Murcia, Rome. The Circus Maximus began with the Valley of Murcia being used much as it is today. A small stream which ran off the Tiber river would dry enough to race around the banks. The natural rise of the land on the sides of the valley allowed spectators to sit. It is believed that the threat of fire caused Emperor Trajan to rebuild the Circus in the newly discovered concrete, marble, stone, and only the top section in wood. It was he who had the spina built connecting the two metae to represent the broken spine of the enemies of Rome with the obelisk placed by Emperor Augustus as the center piece.
