SWOT Analysis Of Activision Blizzard
Advancements in information and technology have been the driving force behind some of the
successful companies in the world. Businesses are leveraging this development to build competitive
strategies by which they can make and sell their products and services. One of the companies that are
leveraging technology to sell their services is Activision Blizzard, which makes and sells video game.
Activision Blizzard has managed to establish five different business units, all of which are in the
entertainment industry. The success of the company has seen it establish itself as one of the largest
company in the United States and Europe in terms of its market capitalization and revenue. In an
industry that has seen many other companies emerging, Activision Blizzard has the responsibility of
making and adjusting its operational strategies to remain ahead of the competition. One of the
approaches that it can use in the achievement of this important goal is using a SWOT analysis tool. By
doing the SWOT, Activision Blizzard can identify weaknesses and threats in its operations and device
strategies for working on them to remain relevant and competitive in the market.
Team Organization External (SWOT) for Activision Blizzard
The SWOT analysis for Activision Blizzard can be summarized below. Helms and Nixon (2010) say
that the SWOT remains an important tool in doing a company analysis. Activision Blizzard s SWOT

Political Participation Assignment Reflective Paper The campaign I volunteered for was Ian English s
campaign for judge of Lucas County Common Pleas Court. The place I volunteered was at the Lucas

seventeenth, Wednesday the twenty ninth, and Monday the third. What I did was made phone calls to
likely voters. Some were registered democrats, others were undetermined. Most of the people that I
called didn t answer so I left a message that I read from a script. Others that I called had already early

Theories Of Ecofeminism
This chapter presents a review of the ecofeminist theory: the history of man s alienation from women
and nature, the basis for the association between women and nature. Different feminist perspectives
prior to the theory of ecofeminism and how they handled the mutual relationship between women and
nature and how this led to the emergence of the theory of ecofeminism. Some of the important terms
in the theory of ecofeminism, ecofeminism and deep ecology, ecofeminism and the feminine principle,
characterization of ecofeminist philosophy, ecofeminism and the sense of place, and finally
ecofeminism and the division within the theory itself.
During the last centuries, and especially after the emergence of the Industrial Revolution, a
degradation of our nature has been witnessed. This degradation has occurred in many natural
elements: air, water, and soil. Global warming, pollution, water contamination, unstable weather, and
many dysfunctions of the once stable earth has made thinkers consider the reason why such
deficiencies occur, and how to get things right before it is too late to take an action and our earth goes
beyond repair.
This current situation has made thinkers from different schools of thought try to figure out when this
contamination of nature took place; what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Venus And The Greenhouse Effect
Today in everyday life, the Greenhouse effect has been heating up our planet Earth. But not only has
Earth been effected, Mars, the moon Titan, and most importantly Venus. Because Venus is so closely
related to Earth, scientist have used Venus s problem to predict what could happen to Earth in the
future. Most of Venus s problem come from being so close to the sun, the thickness of its atmosphere,
and its past experience with the Runaway Greenhouse Effect.
The definition of greenhouse effect is, as the planet absorbs the sun s energy, it also releases a
different form of energy called radiation which gets absorbed by the greenhouse gases making the
atmosphere warmer. One of the main Greenhouse gases is Carbon Dioxide, which is very effective at
trapping heat in an atmosphere, and is being added to the atmosphere faster than Venus can naturally
remove it. Carbon Dioxide is trapped in Venus s atmosphere due to the absence of its magnetic field,
making it easier for lighter gases to escape into outer space, and for heavier ones to be trapped like
Carbon Dioxide. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Astronomer, Mikhail Lomonosov was the first person to discover Venus s atmosphere, he did this by
observing Venus during its transit in 176. One problem though is that Venus s surface because the
atmosphere is covered in a thick layer of Sulfuric acid clouds, which are very opaque and gives venus
it yellow coloring which make it difficult to observe the planet. Due to the thickness and composition
of Venus s atmosphere, the planet does not experience a temperature change daily or seasonally. Venus
average temperature stays at about 735 K (462 °C; 863 °F), and even though it s the second planet
closest to the sun Venus is still a hotter temperature than

Animal Testing Is Inhumane
Animal Testing
Animals are man s best friend; this is what most people claim, but do they really mean it? Animal
testing is widely used nowadays and this method has been used long time ago. Some people agree that
animal testing is useful and has some benefits as it helps in discovering new medicines and its side
effects so by this method it helps in saving humans lives and some animals too. Animal testing is so
inhumane due to the physical pain and cruelty the animals face, some experiments are misleading and
some are useless.
One of the most important problems in animal testing is that they have to face pain that they cannot
bear. Some are kept in really undersized captivity with little amount of food, to satisfy the necessities
of the testing process, animals may be force fed, dispossessed of food or water for prolonged periods
of time, or physically controlled against their will. While it s inaccurate to declare that all animal
testing is cruel experiments that impose pain upon animals or at the very least put those through an
unlikable incident can arise without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, there is no reason to believe that animal testing is a compulsory factor of achieving new
medical insight. It has led to many discoveries in the past, but only since it was one of the only
methods humans were using formerly. As the years have passed, many treatments and cures have been
discovered without involving animals at all, and in fact the results may be more reliable this way
.Animal testing can be used rarely but at least can be only used for the really significant issues as
animals are part of our lives and they have all the right to be treated

What Is The Moral Of Spoke Zebra
If a zebra is marked with a big red X , not only does the herd outcast it but it is also the likely
candidate to be the lion s meal. Being in a herd seems beneficial for survival but it comes with costs
that may not be worth it. In Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche, Zarathustra describes
being part of a herd, along with many other actions, as life denying. His concerns are ethics and living
well. In the prologue, Nietzsche tells the story of how Zarathustra went up a mountain and spent ten
years there gaining wisdom on life; he then descends to share his wisdom, but the people laugh at him
and he comes to realize that they did not and would not take him seriously because they were too far
gone with old beliefs and ways. He also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most important part of his claims on how to restore the quality of life, is that they all go hand in
hand. One does not achieve one and move to the next but rather, one works on achieving them all.
They are set up to have equal importance; there is no hierarchy. All of his claims are correlative and
will bring about a well lived life, there is no doubt about that. Nietzsche s perspective on the quality of
life people are currently living is accurate meaning that he understand what he is proclaiming when he
states his ideas on how to better it. His goal is to encourage those who are willing to hear him, to be
creative, free, self fulfilling individuals. If one agrees and decides to abide by his claims, their life
shall be just like living as a marked

Entropy Research Paper
Entropy and Energy Density in A Finite and Infinite Dimensional Universe
Entropy, or disorder, is increasing in the universe and aims to do so until it reaches its maximum limit
or capacity [1]. Energy density, on the other hand, is the amount of energy stored per a given volume
of space [2]. While the total amount of energy in the universe remains constant [3], energy density
decreases as the universe continues to expand.
In an infinite dimensional universe, meaning the universe will continue to expand indefinitely in all
directions, entropy will continue to increase until it eventually reaches its maximum. When this
happens, all energy would have been transformed into the same type of energy and dispersed equally
throughout the whole universe. This would happen because if entropy has reached its maximum limit,
then everything would have already been disordered to its maximum limit. At this point, the whole
universe would then be in equilibrium: the Heat Death of the Universe [4]. Another possible outcome
is that, as the universe is expanding indefinitely, then entropy will also increase indefinitely and will
not be able to reach its maximum limit.
On the other hand, in a finite dimensional universe, meaning the universe will continue to expand only
until a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, once the universe reaches the maximum limit of its expansion, the energy density of the
universe will reach its minimum in the finite dimensional universe, as there will no longer be space for
the universe to expand. At this time, there will be the Big Crunch. During the Big Crunch, the energy
density of the universe will begin to increase again as the volume of the universe continues to decrease
until it reaches the point where it condenses back into a singularity, such as what it was before the Big
Bang. Once it has achieved singularity, that is also where the energy density of the universe will be at

Compare And Contrast Tell Tale Heart And The Cask Of...
Vengeful = Villain Revenge has existed for a long time. A vengeful character is often portrayed as the
villain which therefore makes a revenge seem evil, but many authors tend to use revenge in books as a
way to surprise the reader. Two short stories that feature the theme of revenge are , The Cask Of
Amontillado (CA) by Edgar Allen Poe and Sredni Vashtar (SV) by H.H Munro (Saki). In CA the
character s revenge was motivated by Fortunato using acts of derision on the main character in the
past, while in Sredni Vashtar Conradin s revenge is motivated by Mrs. De Ropp s absence of sympathy
for Conradin. In Tell Tale Heart (TTH) by Edgar Allen Poe, the way that the main character kills the

Sredni Vashtar is about Conradi and his sour cousin named Mrs. De Ropp who both hate each other.
Mrs. De Ropp would never, in her honestest moments, have confessed to herself that she disliked
Conradin, though she might have been dimly aware that thwarting him for his good was a duty which
she did not find particularly irksome. (1) In this statement, we find out that Ms. De Ropp finds it
enjoyable to beat Conradin but won t admit it to herself that she does. Conradin justifiably hates her
and knows it in his heart. We see this when the narrator states Conradin hated her with a desperate
sincerity which he was perfectly able to mask (1). Conradin s only freedom during the day is when he
sneaks out to the gardeners shack. When he is there he praises and worships a large polecat ferret. The
cousin is often wonders where he is when he is in the shed. One day she searches his room and finds
the shed key. She then goes into the shed when Conradin is inside. Surprisingly, the polecat ferret kills
her just as Conradin had prayed for it to do. And every night, in the welcome darkness of his bedroom,
and every evening in the dusk of the tool shed, Conradin s bitter litany went up: Do one thing for me,
Sredni Vashtar. The reader is led to believe that Conradin had his revenge planned out and was praying
to his god the ferret named Sredni Vashtar to kill

While Many People Walked By, I Took Notes. I Noticed All
While many people walked by, I took notes. I noticed all different kinds of people. I noticed
Caucasians, African Americans, and Hispanics. From seeing these different people, I categorized them

women, Hispanic men, and Hispanic women. I saw all different kinds of people in different clothes.
Overall, most people were wearing casual attire such as a shirt and jeans or shirt and shorts. I heard
many conversations while people walked around. I heard people talking about where they should go

Forty one of the Caucasians were women. This tells you that 63% of all the Caucasians that were
observed were women. This information tells you that only 37% of the Caucasians were men. This
tells you that men are less likely to be shopping in a mall than women. Most of the Caucasian men and
women were in working outfits or were very dressed up which made me think that they have a very
high job that acquires them to dress very professionally. With this information, this tells me that
Caucasians are more likely to be coming to the mall after work and that they have more intelligent
jobs. The average age for both the Caucasian men and women are approximately thirty five. Out of the
one hundred people that I observed, only 15% of them were Hispanic men or women. 60% of the
Hispanic men or women were men meaning only 40% of them were women. This tells you that
Hispanic men are somewhat more likely to come to the Monroe Mall then Hispanic women. 13% of
all the Hispanic men and women were in their work outfits or dressed up professionally. Out of all the
Caucasians, African Americans, and Hispanics; the ones that dressed up more professionally or in
their work clothes were the Caucasians. I noticed though, the people that seemed like they did the
most manual work from the look of their work outfits were the Hispanics.

The Containment Of Orca Whales

Orca Whales in Captivity
If you love something, set it free. This is a quote that has circulated for years, and nowhere else is it
more applicable than in SeaWorld s parks. Trainers and corporate alike claim a deep love for the
animals they keep captive, but in recent years, the topic of holding orca whales in captivity has
become more controversial than ever before. The CNN documentary Blackfish brought the conditions
Seaworld provides for its orcas to the public eye in a way that had not been done before, which led to
much public outrage. The containment of orca whales for educational and entertainment purposes has,
in almost every way, been brought into question. Ranging from the physical and psychological
damages they experience, the issues in their family structures, and the dangers that their human
trainers experience, orca whales are not fit to be kept in captivity.
Many of SeaWorld s former trainers have admitted to seeing physical and psychological damages
amongst the animals. One prime physical condition many whales have been exposed to is what is
commonly referred to as raking. Raking occurs when one orca drags, or rakes, its teeth along another
whale. According to Seaworld s own website, Killer whales may rank themselves and establish
dominance by... raking (tooth scratching) and other vigorous behavior (Manby). Raking is a
completely natural practice among orcas, but the issue truly arises

Coyote Steals Fire And Master Cat Analysis
Not so fast, growled Thunder. Coyote won the game and so I give him the fire. But he cheated. And
for that I shall take his life. Where is he so that I can kill him? Thunder said this In Coyote Steals Fire
to all the animals Coyote called to help him take the fire rock away. Thunder was angry because
Coyote cheated to get his way. Coyote Steals Fire is a trickster story where animals lie and deceive to
get their way. In Master Cat the King says Tell your master that I am grateful to him and that he has
given me great pleasure. The king is pleased with the cat s master because the cat has been given him
gifts in his name. Master Cat is giving him gifts to get on the good side of the king for his later
exploits. In the trickster tale Coyote Steals Fire and the fairy tale Master Cat there were some
similarities but, many more differences. There are a few similarities in Coyote Steals Fire and the
story Master Cat. The very first similarity is the use of anthropomorphism. Both of the animals and the
tales think and plot, they hold intelligent conversations and make detailed decisions. Coyote makes the
decision to cheat in the gambling game and he makes and conjugates the plan on how to cheat
Thunder. Master Cat uses gifts to gain the trust of the king so he would easily believe him at later on.
Master Cat and Coyote also use very similar methods to obtain their goal. They both use lies,
elaborate plans they made, and verbal fibs. Master Cat decieves with fake trust

Should Government Have Minimal Interference With The Internet
The government should have minimal interference with the internet, but complete neutrality would
eventually become harmful. The internet is primarily a place for communication. As such, it does
indeed make sense that the government should not interfere. However, the internet has evolved
beyond communication and has grown into forms of business. The internet has become a setting like
those of the physical world, with differences, of course.
For one, it costs to access the internet, and also to run it. It is not a place that we can go to just by
walking with a bit of effort. We have to pay for WiFi, Ethernet, or other items from the long list of
products. While there are libraries and other locations to temporarily access it, it still costs ... Show

Ads and the like have infected our previously neutral communication network. That being said, this
change has not been entirely bad. Companies like Google and Amazon have provided many things to
us that were previously obsolete or inaccessible. We have found many items and services that would
not be available without the internet.
Given that the internet is beneficial to all, there are many ways with which people will try to sabotage
or trap it. Malware, invasive advertisements, and uninformed “informants” clutter our
perception of this wonderland. For these causes, regulation is needed. Like all things, moderation is a
necessity, as too much interference will leave us resentful, but too little interference will render
moderation useless.
During the recent net neutrality vote, both accurate and inaccurate information was spread about the
motives and effects of repealing and continuing the bill. In that atmosphere, what was true and what
was false was extremely hard to differentiate. Fake news, fake websites, fake quotations, fake
testimonies, fake everything! How is anyone supposed to make a fair and informed decision in that
hostile environment! This was not present on just one side, however. Both sides spread

The Use Of Personification In Daffodils By William Wordsworth
The poem Daffodils by William Wordsworth was written in 1804. It is about a time when Wordsworth
himself went walking and found a group of daffodils. Through the use of similes, personification and
alliteration, Wordsworth shows how his emotions changed after seeing the beautiful daffodils.
Wordsworth starts of the poem in a sad and depressed mood. He is not happy as he is walking alone
without any purpose. Nothing around him seems beautiful to him, and he seems lonely and sad. To
show this mood, Wordsworth uses a simile. We see this in the first line when he writes, I wandered
lonely as a cloud . Wordsworth is comparing himself to a cloud, something that floats in the air. By

Wordsworth uses personification. This is shown in the third line where he writes, When all at once I

are standing in a crowd like an army. This is a description appropriate for humans, but flowers to not
stand in crowds. By using personification, Wordsworth shows that there a lot of daffodils that are

internal rhyme. These literary devices emphasize that the flowers like humans, dancing and fluttering

Lasn has discussed, but I saw no conclusion at any point. Normally when we, as
thoughtful humans, are so adiment about a topic, we like to clarify a quick solution,

Summary Of The Conversion Of Saint Paul
The Conversion of Saint Paul The conversion of Saint Paul is a painting by Benvenuto Tisi, called il
Garofalo; oil on panel, painted in 1525. The painting unframed is 31 inches tall and 42 inches wide.
The frame of the painting is rectangle in shape and does not appear to have been created from one
solid piece of material. The outer end of the frame has grooves and the inner part seems as if it is made
from many tiny pieces held together or fitted together like a puzzle. The frame is a shiny, golden,
brassy color, which balances the colors of the paining. This painting brings to life one of the most
specular phenomenon that occurs after the death of Christ and during the persecution of the new
Christians or new believers in the church. Saul was on his way to Damascus to capture Christians
when he encounters Christ. This one miraculous visitation from Christ transformed Saul to not only
change his way of thinking about Christ, but this awakening encounter and Saul s subsequent healing,
immediately convinced Saul to stopped persecuting the believer, converted to Christianity, and change
his name from Saul to Paul. In this depiction, you find Saul stretched on the ground at the onset of his
miraculous transformation. It has been stated that the actual painting was in poor condition when it
arrived at the Yale University Art Galleria studio. It was covered in yellow varnish and showed signs
of flaking and cracking. Not only was the painting in poor condition when it

Regional managers can identify which aspects of their hotels are the most vulnerable and explain to
executives the most effective aid. They can also report their employees most important concerns and

Creating a timeline helps ensure that recovery progress is on track in order to allow operations to

Utilitarian Logic in Hard Times Essay
Utilitarian Logic in Hard Times
Utilitarianism Quadruped. Graminivorous. Forty teeth, namely twenty four grinders, four eye teeth,
and twelve incisive. Sheds coat in spring...... A perfect example of a product of utilitarian education,
Bitzer defines a horse off the top of his head in a split second. Utilitarianism is the assumption that
human beings act in a way that highlights their own self interest. It is based on factuality and leaves
little room for imagination. Dickens provides three vivid examples of this utilitarian logic in Hard
Times.
The first; Mr. Thomas Gradgrind, one of the main characters in the book, was the principal of a school
in Coketown. He was a firm believer in utilitarianism and instilled this ... Show more content on

How can you give a utilitarian man such as Gradgrind such power over a town? I do like how Dickens
structures the book to make one ask obvious questions such as these. Dickens does not tell us much
about the success of the other students of the school besides Bitzer, who is fairly successful on paper,
but does not have the capacity as a person to deal with life s everyday struggles.
Gradgrinds two oldest children, Tom and Louisa, are examples of how this utilitarian method failed
miserably. These children were never given the opportunity to think for themselves, experience fun
things in life, or even use their imaginations. True, they are smart people in the factual sense but do
not have the street smarts to survive. Tom is a young man who, so fed up with his father s strictness
and repetition, revolts against him and leaves home to work in Mr. Bounderby s bank. Tom, now out
from under his fathers wing, he begins to drink and gamble heavily. Eventually, to get out of a deep
gambling debt, he robs a bank and is forced to flee the area. When Bitzer realizes that Tom has robbed
the bank and catches him, Mr. Gradgrind begs him to let Tom go, reminding him of all of the hard
work that was put on him while at the school. Ironically Bitzer, using the tools of factuality that he had
learned in Gradgrinds school, replies that the school was paid for, but it is now over and he owes
nothing more. I think this is extremely funny how,

History Of Geographic Information Systems ( Gis )
The History of Geographic Information Systems Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are a way
that information can embedded into and retrieved from maps, today this is done using computers,
because of the complexity of the information that can be used, but was once done manually. GIS has
become common place in the modern world that we live in, they are useful for simple things such
basic maps to much more complex tasks including research and statistics, city planning, as well as
many more. One of the first uses of a GIS was in the fight against cholera, first Charles Picquet
produced a map of 48 districts in Paris that displayed the number of deaths from cholera per 1000
inhabitants using a colour gradient (Bagais, 2012). Then in 1854 John Snow, an English doctor,
created a GIS map of a cholera outbreak in Soho, London. His map used points to show where each
case of cholera had occurred, through the use of this technique he was able to determine that the cause
of the cholera outbreak was a water pump located on Broad Street, of which he removed the handle
and ended the epidemic (Johnson, 2006). The development of GIS was very slow in these early years,
and it was not until the early 20th century that any real advancement in GIS was seen, this was
because of the increasing development of photozincography (Cook, 2002). Photozincography allowed
the development of layers, these are a key component of any GIS, and each layer was drawn by hand
onto individual glass plates.

The Year Long Period Of Social Unrest
The four year long period of social unrest that unraveled unto the United States brought forth
increasing amounts of opposing opinions. Power struggles between the Northern and Southern states
gave those with strong ideas for example, John Wilkes Booth, the ideal situation to take action. The
sixteenth president of the United States of America and the leader of the Union during Civil War,
Abraham Lincoln, was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth, an actor pursuing the revival of the
confederacy and the total destruction of the Union.
Abraham Lincoln was known to be a hard working, driven man which led him into politics and
eventually presidency. Throughout his childhood, Lincoln had grown up in very rural areas and knew
of nothing other than frontier simplicity therefore, he experienced little interaction with others
(Lincoln World Biography par. 5). As a child, Lincoln experienced a great deal of death as well as his
family s frequent moves. The painful death of this mother, brother, and close family friends shaped
Lincoln into becoming a strong, mature, and respectful man. Due to his frequent moves, Lincoln
earned an opportunity to explore parts of the country he previously never even knew existed. At age
22 Lincoln left the agrarian lifestyle and traveled to New Orleans where he would volunteer for a
militia he would go on to successfully lead. (par. 4). While in New Orleans Lincoln would partake in
jobs in which he proved to have a plethora of skills such as militia

Unemployment Rate In Nazi Germany
The decrease in the unemployment rate that Germany presented, however, was misleading. Dan
Silverman talks about this and how they manipulated the statistics to be more presentable to the world.
He talks about a theory that suggests that Hitler counted relief workers as employed which makes the
statistics skew towards a decrease in unemployment where that isn t actually the case. This statistical
manipulation was thought by the Nazi party to change the spirit of the people, and it did exactly that.
It changed people to think more positively, it gave them hope that things were going to get better. It s
similar to what the broken window problem is with GDP. The broken window problem is that, fixing

integrated public works into their policy and worked to increase overall consumption by the German

Compare And Contrast The Most Dangerous Game And Hunters...
In both Richard Connell s The Most Dangerous Game and Tobias Wolff s Hunters in the Snow, seen
are divergent interpretations of similar setting descriptions, protagonists, and conflicts. The short story
The Most Dangerous Game follows a seemingly emotionless war veteran familiar with hunting named
Rainsford who is being chased on an isolated island by a murderer named Zaroff. Conversely in
Hunters in the Snow, the story opens with a large man by the name of Tub almost getting run over

The reader is to assume that Rainsford has killed Zaroff and won the game by the final sentence: He

the Snow is within the last three sentences: I m going to the hospital, Kenny said. But he was wrong.
They had taken a different turn a long way back (p. 92). Each of these stories also end happily for the
protagonists. Tub is enjoying time with Frank, who is now no longer making fun of him, and
Rainsford is contempt in Zaroff s bed, his trophy for winning the game. The reason behind the
divergent interpretations of both The Most Dangerous Game and Hunters in the Snow are each of the
authors points of view. The reader can assume Richard Connell is more keen of a happy ending for the
protagonist. Contrarily, the reader can assume Tobias Wolff is a more twisted writer and does not mind
leaving the story unhappily open ended. Each of these short stories motivate the reader to sympathize
with the protagonist, but in two completely different ways. The stories are somewhat similar in their
structure; each ending with only an assumption by the reader of how the tale

Violence And Violence In Anthony Burgess s A Clockwork Orange
Similarly, the character of Alex McDowell and his actions are presented with methods comparable to
that of Bonnie and Clyde. Stanley Kubrick stresses the violence in A Clockwork Orange as a way to
show the full extent of his harmful maniacal ways. Narration alone can only tell us so much about his
personality and isn t able to comprehensively encompass the significance of the violence attributed to
Alex. It isn t until we see the crimes being committed in vivid detail that we are able to recognize the
true nature of Alex s moral extent. This illustrates him as the character he is meant to be as per the
novella written by Anthony Burgess. We learn through wide angle shots of the moments leading up to
the raping of a helpless woman, that Alex is entirely comfortable with the sadistic action and even
finds it amusing. Upward facing camera angles that specifically place his face as the focal point are
used during this scene and many others like it to enunciate his sinister appearance. They are used to
show that as a person, Alex enjoys these all to pernicious behaviors. The excessive realness of the
scenes only supports our understanding of his lack of humanity. Alex s aggressiveness is magnified by
the way he senselessly beats the old man under the bridge and the husband of the raped woman.
Incorporating an undisturbed shot of him doing so allows it make a greater impact on the audience s
perception of the character. Just as in Bonnie and Clyde, violence is shown with no

Antonio Lucio Vivaldi Four Seasons Essay
Antonio Lucio Vivaldi was a great composer who was born March 4th, 1678 and later died July 28th,
1741. He was an Italian composer and very talented violinist who left his mark , as one would say, on
concerto forms and the styles of the late Baroque period. He composed well over 500 pieces during
his magnificent career. The Four Seasons was composed in 1723 and is one of his most famous works
for the violin. There are four concertos, which matches up with the fact that there are four seasons. His
inspiration for this music came from when Vivaldi was inspired by Marco Ricci s painting of all four
seasons. This specific type of concerto brings the story of the seasons to life. The orchestra performing

first movement is called Allegro non molto, the second is largo, and the third is allegro. This piece is
distinguished pretty much based on the extremely high pitched strings being plucked in total rhythm.
According to the composer, this is similar to that of icy rain and mere cold. The first movement,
allegro non molto starts out with a low pitched dissonance sound that is then altered with every
beckoning beat that eventually builds up to a crescendo sound. The violinist starts out playing the
instrument violently and there is an orchestral accompaniment to follow. The violinist plays allegro,
very fast. The violinist is playing solo as the orchestra is heard often throughout the movement too.
Often times, the soloist will interrupt the orchestra almost while they are playing their beats. I counted
about eight beats for this movement, and for about half, they are interrupted. The texture and harmony
of the orchestra is held constant as there is a ground bass which evens everything out and helps to
continually subdue the beat. One instrument, I think the cello, clashes with the bass and this helps to

THEME of Miss Brill In the story Miss Brill, an old, lonely lady spends her Sunday observing people

really an integral part of the scene and would be missed if she weren t there. Her illusion is shattered
by a chance remark at the end of the story, and she returns home, clearly devastated by her new
understanding of her place in life. What this story is trying to illustrate is that sometimes people can be

after all Miss Brill nearly laughed out loud (100). This realization eventually moves Miss Brill to
tears. Being a part of something as full of life as the park scene gives her a sense of belonging.
However, by this point in the story, the reader is aware that Miss Brill has deluded herself. Actually,
no one at the park is even aware she s around, and the truth is that if she weren t there, no one would
miss her at all. Happiness built on an illusion can only last so long. In the story, Miss Brill s happiness
is shattered by a single chance remark when the young couple who she has cast as the hero and

keep her silly old mug at home? (138). The story does not tell us Miss Brill s personal reactions to this
remark; instead, the point of view shifts so that we observe her actions as she goes home. However,
these actions are enough to illustrate that her self view has been destroyed. The first example of her
change in perspective is when she fails to go into the bakery, the usual climax to the Sunday park visit.

Imperialism Relations Essay
Imperialism relations are also decided by force today, and the Europeans, the Americans and others
have to constantly defend their peace loving community. Every state sees itself threatened by the
others, and each claims that it only defends itself against the others. If it were true that all states are
merely defending themselves, then they would be able to leave each other alone. The rights which one
state ascribes to itself against another state are defended. This is an important point: the interests that
states have in each other brings the states into conflict with each other not the desire to be left alone.
So one has to explain how a conflict exists in ordinary buying and selling, and it is insufficient to
explain the conflict between states by resorting to images from the past. It is true that the Spanish stole
the Mayans gold, that colonialism was a form of robbery. Someone who accuses today s governments
of robbery actually accuses them of engaging in conflicts that do not fit the world ... Show more

Therefore, each state s basis of existence is always too small. Now here is the reason why states
always turn to the outside world: the growth that the state promotes has a border in the reach of its
own power. The state always promotes growth policies, but the country s borders then present a
limited market, a limited availability of raw materials and resources, a limited potential labor force;
The power that licenses capital, which creates the economic system in the first place, is itself a limit to
its growth within its limited range. Under capitalist states, a relationship of mutual recognition comes
into existence so that one state can use the other, because the other state calculates the same way, only
vice versa. Two states pay their mutual respects and engage in civilized relations because what they

Fluoridated Toothpaste Persuasive Essay
For approximately 60 years water fluoridation has been a controversial public health intervention to
control dental caries. With regards to the mass amounts of research put in over the six decades, one
might think that researches have concluded a clear answer to the question, do the benefits out weight
the possible consequences? Scholarly sources suggest that fluoridation of public water does, in fact,
significantly lower dental caries in both adolescents and adults, but also suggest this is not the only,
nor the most globally beneficial, solution to the problem. Though fluoridation of public water sources
is supported by major organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), it is abandoned
and neglected by citizens who fear its potential side effects.

toothpastes account for more than 90% of the sales of toothpaste products (Botchey, 48). Author
Andrew W. Campbell supports fluoridated toothpaste as the most successful form of fluoridation
based off the conclusions stated in the National Research Council s 2006 study on fluoride and the
following statement made by the Dental Clinics of North America. Current evidence strongly suggests
that fluorides work primarily by topical means through direct action on the teeth and dental plaque.
Thus ingestion of fluoride is not essential for caries prevention (Campbell, 9). Concluding his
argument he states that it is becoming increasingly clear, fluoridating public water supplies is outdated

The Role of Economic Theory Economic theory is an essential part in economic research, and even
more so when discussing the development of city projects. The idea that the implementation of
policies in budgetary issues would improve people s lives is attractive to budget administrators and
city administrators alike (Varian, 1989). In fact, it is most useful for evaluating the answers to
common problems faced by local organizations. The determining factor is based on the approach
taken to evaluate the effectiveness of the project. The use of Cost Benefit Analysis in City Projects ,
such as the Sanford Riverwalk, provides strategic analysis and planning of the recreational incentives
for city residents. The city is based around surrounding popular cities known for their parks and
recreation. The City of Altamonte Springs, Daytona Beach, and the City of Orlando are known for
their state parks and touristic areas. Because the development of such a project would contribute to a
competitive market and enhance the face value of the city, it is part of the overall analysis of the
research conducted on this particular project. Influence of Economic Theory Economic theory was

Literary Analysis Of The Lion s Bride By Gwen Harwood
Gwen Harwood s poem The Lion s Bride, written 1981 revolves around the time period when women
were objectified as housewives whose only job was to breed and nurture children, as well as care for
their husbands. This poem creates a vivid image about a lion who falls in love with the zookeepers
daughter but fails to recognize her when she greets him on her wedding day, wearing her dress, and
mistakes her for a ghost. In response to this misinterpretation, the lion proceeds to maul the woman
and lies in wait for the zookeeper s daughter to arrive and feed him. The underlining message behind
this poem revolves around a man who believes he is caged by his lover s father in response to the
feelings the father doesn t agree with, and on her wedding day, the lover feels as though he is
destroying the woman because she is marrying someone else.
To ease into her poem, Harwood creates a vivid image for the reader about a zookeeper s daughter
coming daily with their special bowl. This refers to how the lion has the notion that the woman is
forming a relationship with him through their mealtime together. In reference to this, the lion, which is
the man, believes he is caged due to his belief that the zookeeper refuses to accept his feelings towards
his daughter. Contextually, during Harwood s time, women were expected marry men who were of
their social class and who were believed could take care of them. Assuming the man s persona is
drudging and he is seen as filth in relation to depicting him like a lion, the daughter cannot marry or be
seen with him because it may affect or shun her reputation. The poet chooses to include the
connotation of a special bowl instead of explicitly stating how they share a meal together to signify
how the man and woman are forced to hide their feelings until they are alone together at mealtimes.
She leaves no doubt in the reader that the man is feeling this way because she refers to their meal as
their love feast, highlighting how interconnected these two people are with one another. Furthermore,
the man s predicament refers back to Harwood s time in that women were expected to act in a certain
prim manner, and to be a lover to a man in a status below her would taint her reputation

Psychedelic Rock In The 1960s
The birth of the psychedelic, or as it was sometimes known, acid rock genre was the result of an
attempt to sonically stimulate the distorted perceptions experienced while under the influence of

applied to a few bands already in the early 1960s, with the Grateful Dead making their record debut in
the spring of 1967. By 1966, garage bands were exposed to the first media coverage of LSD and, in
some cases, may have had a band member who actually used LSD. Soon their song lyrics moved from

Analysis Of Forrest Gump
The film Forrest Gump uses a lot of information and historical events and expresses them using
aesthetic techniques such as sound, cinematography, editing, etc. The director Robert Zemeckis uses
form to explain the overall meaning of the film specifically with symbolism from popular phrases and
gives visual examples throughout the story.
The beginning of the film starts with Forrest sitting on a bench at a bus stop. A lady walks over and
sits down next to him and begins to read her book as he introduces himself to her. He then offers her
some chocolate that she quietly declines. Forrest then says, My mama always said that life was like a
box of chocolates. You never know what you re gonna get . This phrase shows meaning to the entire
film because Forrest is always led to a new thing or event in life that had no relation to the last.
Zemeckis place this scene strategically at the beginning and it helped set up the rest of the story.
Forrest is seen a few different times during other parts of the film with boxes of chocolate. This first
scene is also the beginning of where Forrest starts to tell his life story. The director uses a diegetic
narraration by Forrest to lead the story. He continues to talk even if the person sitting next to him on
the bench has changed.
The box of chocolates line resembles how Forrest sees life differently. He grew up being told by his
mother on what he should and shouldn t do to help him get through life. He had the mind set of doing
any opportunity that came to him. He did all kinds of incredible things such as playing on a college
football team, joining the military, starting a shrimp business, etc. Editing can be shown during the
historical events that Forrest participates in such as when African Americans were accepted to his
school. The effect was in black and white to show an older scenario.
The best use of cinematography was at the very beginning with the feather before the box of
chocolates line. The camera follows the feather as it floats down towards the ground. The camera
angle is positioned with a close up on the feather and with a blurry Forrest on the bench in the
background. The feather then lands on his shoe where he picks it up to place inside his Curious

Different feminist perspectives prior to the theory of ecofeminism and how they handled the mutual relationship between women and nature and how this led to the emergence of the theory of ecofeminism. Some of the important terms in the theory of ecofeminism, ecofeminism and deep ecology, ecofeminism and the feminine principle, characterization of ecofeminist philosophy, ecofeminism and the sense of place, and finally ecofeminism and the division within the theory itself. During the last centuries, and especially after the emergence of the Industrial Revolution, a degradation of our nature has been witnessed. This degradation has occurred in many natural elements: air, water, and soil. Global warming, pollution, water contamination, unstable weather, and many dysfunctions of the once stable earth has made thinkers consider the reason why such deficiencies occur, and how to get things right before it is too late to take an action and our earth goes beyond repair. This current situation has made thinkers from different schools of thought try to figure out when this contamination of nature took place; what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Venus And The Greenhouse Effect Today in everyday life, the Greenhouse effect has been heating up our planet Earth. But not only has Earth been effected, Mars, the moon Titan, and most importantly Venus. Because Venus is so closely related to Earth, scientist have used Venus s problem to predict what could happen to Earth in the future. Most of Venus s problem come from being so close to the sun, the thickness of its atmosphere, and its past experience with the Runaway Greenhouse Effect. The definition of greenhouse effect is, as the planet absorbs the sun s energy, it also releases a different form of energy called radiation which gets absorbed by the greenhouse gases making the atmosphere warmer. One of the main Greenhouse gases is Carbon Dioxide, which is very effective at trapping heat in an atmosphere, and is being added to the atmosphere faster than Venus can naturally remove it. Carbon Dioxide is trapped in Venus s atmosphere due to the absence of its magnetic field, making it easier for lighter gases to escape into outer space, and for heavier ones to be trapped like Carbon Dioxide. ... • 7. Animal Testing Is Inhumane Animal Testing Animals are man s best friend; this is what most people claim, but do they really mean it? Animal testing is widely used nowadays and this method has been used long time ago. Some people agree that animal testing is useful and has some benefits as it helps in discovering new medicines and its side effects so by this method it helps in saving humans lives and some animals too. Animal testing is so inhumane due to the physical pain and cruelty the animals face, some experiments are misleading and some are useless. One of the most important problems in animal testing is that they have to face pain that they cannot bear. Some are kept in really undersized captivity with little amount of food, to satisfy the necessities of the testing process, animals may be force fed, dispossessed of food or water for prolonged periods of time, or physically controlled against their will. Being in a herd seems beneficial for survival but it comes with costs that may not be worth it. In Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche, Zarathustra describes being part of a herd, along with many other actions, as life denying. His concerns are ethics and living well. In the prologue, Nietzsche tells the story of how Zarathustra went up a mountain and spent ten years there gaining wisdom on life; he then descends to share his wisdom, but the people laugh at him and he comes to realize that they did not and would not take him seriously because they were too far gone with old beliefs and ways. One does not achieve one and move to the next but rather, one works on achieving them all. They are set up to have equal importance; there is no hierarchy. All of his claims are correlative and will bring about a well lived life, there is no doubt about that. Nietzsche s perspective on the quality of life people are currently living is accurate meaning that he understand what he is proclaiming when he states his ideas on how to better it. His goal is to encourage those who are willing to hear him, to be creative, free, self fulfilling individuals. • 9. Entropy Research Paper Entropy and Energy Density in A Finite and Infinite Dimensional Universe Entropy, or disorder, is increasing in the universe and aims to do so until it reaches its maximum limit or capacity [1]. Energy density, on the other hand, is the amount of energy stored per a given volume of space [2]. While the total amount of energy in the universe remains constant [3], energy density decreases as the universe continues to expand. In an infinite dimensional universe, meaning the universe will continue to expand indefinitely in all directions, entropy will continue to increase until it eventually reaches its maximum. When this happens, all energy would have been transformed into the same type of energy and dispersed equally throughout the whole universe. This would happen because if entropy has reached its maximum limit, then everything would have already been disordered to its maximum limit. At this point, the whole universe would then be in equilibrium: the Heat Death of the Universe [4]. Another possible outcome is that, as the universe is expanding indefinitely, then entropy will also increase indefinitely and will not be able to reach its maximum limit. On the other hand, in a finite dimensional universe, meaning the universe will continue to expand only until a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. Compare And Contrast Tell Tale Heart And The Cask Of... Vengeful = Villain Revenge has existed for a long time. A vengeful character is often portrayed as the villain which therefore makes a revenge seem evil, but many authors tend to use revenge in books as a way to surprise the reader. Two short stories that feature the theme of revenge are , The Cask Of Amontillado (CA) by Edgar Allen Poe and Sredni Vashtar (SV) by H.H Munro (Saki). In CA the character s revenge was motivated by Fortunato using acts of derision on the main character in the past, while in Sredni Vashtar Conradin s revenge is motivated by Mrs. De Ropp s absence of sympathy for Conradin. Sredni Vashtar is about Conradi and his sour cousin named Mrs. De Ropp who both hate each other. Mrs. De Ropp would never, in her honestest moments, have confessed to herself that she disliked Conradin, though she might have been dimly aware that thwarting him for his good was a duty which she did not find particularly irksome. (1) In this statement, we find out that Ms. De Ropp finds it enjoyable to beat Conradin but won t admit it to herself that she does. Conradin justifiably hates her and knows it in his heart. We see this when the narrator states Conradin hated her with a desperate sincerity which he was perfectly able to mask (1). Conradin s only freedom during the day is when he sneaks out to the gardeners shack. When he is there he praises and worships a large polecat ferret. The cousin is often wonders where he is when he is in the shed. One day she searches his room and finds the shed key. She then goes into the shed when Conradin is inside. Surprisingly, the polecat ferret kills her just as Conradin had prayed for it to do. And every night, in the welcome darkness of his bedroom, and every evening in the dusk of the tool shed, Conradin s bitter litany went up: Do one thing for me, Sredni Vashtar. With this information, this tells me that Caucasians are more likely to be coming to the mall after work and that they have more intelligent jobs. The average age for both the Caucasian men and women are approximately thirty five. Out of the one hundred people that I observed, only 15% of them were Hispanic men or women. 60% of the Hispanic men or women were men meaning only 40% of them were women. This tells you that Hispanic men are somewhat more likely to come to the Monroe Mall then Hispanic women. 13% of all the Hispanic men and women were in their work outfits or dressed up professionally. • 12. The Containment Of Orca Whales Taylor Gonnerman Mr. Martin LA III 5th Hour 25 January 2016 Orca Whales in Captivity If you love something, set it free. This is a quote that has circulated for years, and nowhere else is it more applicable than in SeaWorld s parks. Trainers and corporate alike claim a deep love for the animals they keep captive, but in recent years, the topic of holding orca whales in captivity has become more controversial than ever before. The CNN documentary Blackfish brought the conditions Seaworld provides for its orcas to the public eye in a way that had not been done before, which led to much public outrage. The containment of orca whales for educational and entertainment purposes has, in almost every way, been brought into question. Ranging from the physical and psychological damages they experience, the issues in their family structures, and the dangers that their human trainers experience, orca whales are not fit to be kept in captivity. Many of SeaWorld s former trainers have admitted to seeing physical and psychological damages amongst the animals. One prime physical condition many whales have been exposed to is what is commonly referred to as raking. Raking occurs when one orca drags, or rakes, its teeth along another whale. The internet is primarily a place for communication. As such, it does indeed make sense that the government should not interfere. However, the internet has evolved beyond communication and has grown into forms of business. The internet has become a setting like those of the physical world, with differences, of course. It is about a time when Wordsworth himself went walking and found a group of daffodils. Through the use of similes, personification and alliteration, Wordsworth shows how his emotions changed after seeing the beautiful daffodils. Wordsworth starts of the poem in a sad and depressed mood. He is not happy as he is walking alone without any purpose. Nothing around him seems beautiful to him, and he seems lonely and sad. To show this mood, Wordsworth uses a simile. We see this in the first line when he writes, I wandered lonely as a cloud . Wordsworth is comparing himself to a cloud, something that floats in the air. The painting unframed is 31 inches tall and 42 inches wide. The frame of the painting is rectangle in shape and does not appear to have been created from one solid piece of material. The outer end of the frame has grooves and the inner part seems as if it is made from many tiny pieces held together or fitted together like a puzzle. I do like how Dickens structures the book to make one ask obvious questions such as these. Dickens does not tell us much about the success of the other students of the school besides Bitzer, who is fairly successful on paper, but does not have the capacity as a person to deal with life s everyday struggles. Gradgrinds two oldest children, Tom and Louisa, are examples of how this utilitarian method failed miserably. These children were never given the opportunity to think for themselves, experience fun things in life, or even use their imaginations. True, they are smart people in the factual sense but do not have the street smarts to survive. Tom is a young man who, so fed up with his father s strictness and repetition, revolts against him and leaves home to work in Mr. Bounderby s bank. When Bitzer realizes that Tom has robbed the bank and catches him, Mr. Gradgrind begs him to let Tom go, reminding him of all of the hard work that was put on him while at the school. History Of Geographic Information Systems ( Gis ) The History of Geographic Information Systems Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are a way that information can embedded into and retrieved from maps, today this is done using computers, because of the complexity of the information that can be used, but was once done manually. GIS has become common place in the modern world that we live in, they are useful for simple things such basic maps to much more complex tasks including research and statistics, city planning, as well as many more. One of the first uses of a GIS was in the fight against cholera, first Charles Picquet produced a map of 48 districts in Paris that displayed the number of deaths from cholera per 1000 inhabitants using a colour gradient (Bagais, 2012). Then in 1854 John Snow, an English doctor, created a GIS map of a cholera outbreak in Soho, London. His map used points to show where each case of cholera had occurred, through the use of this technique he was able to determine that the cause of the cholera outbreak was a water pump located on Broad Street, of which he removed the handle and ended the epidemic (Johnson, 2006). The development of GIS was very slow in these early years, and it was not until the early 20th century that any real advancement in GIS was seen, this was because of the increasing development of photozincography (Cook, 2002). Photozincography allowed the development of layers, these are a key component of any GIS, and each layer was drawn by hand onto individual glass plates. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If it were true that all states are merely defending themselves, then they would be able to leave each other alone. The rights which one state ascribes to itself against another state are defended. This is an important point: the interests that states have in each other brings the states into conflict with each other not the desire to be left alone. • 36. Literary Analysis Of The Lion s Bride By Gwen Harwood Gwen Harwood s poem The Lion s Bride, written 1981 revolves around the time period when women were objectified as housewives whose only job was to breed and nurture children, as well as care for their husbands. This poem creates a vivid image about a lion who falls in love with the zookeepers daughter but fails to recognize her when she greets him on her wedding day, wearing her dress, and mistakes her for a ghost. In response to this misinterpretation, the lion proceeds to maul the woman and lies in wait for the zookeeper s daughter to arrive and feed him. The underlining message behind this poem revolves around a man who believes he is caged by his lover s father in response to the feelings the father doesn t agree with, and on her wedding day, the lover feels as though he is destroying the woman because she is marrying someone else. To ease into her poem, Harwood creates a vivid image for the reader about a zookeeper s daughter coming daily with their special bowl. This refers to how the lion has the notion that the woman is forming a relationship with him through their mealtime together. In reference to this, the lion, which is the man, believes he is caged due to his belief that the zookeeper refuses to accept his feelings towards his daughter. Contextually, during Harwood s time, women were expected marry men who were of their social class and who were believed could take care of them. Assuming the man s persona is drudging and he is seen as filth in relation to depicting him like a lion, the daughter cannot marry or be seen with him because it may affect or shun her reputation. The poet chooses to include the connotation of a special bowl instead of explicitly stating how they share a meal together to signify how the man and woman are forced to hide their feelings until they are alone together at mealtimes. She leaves no doubt in the reader that the man is feeling this way because she refers to their meal as their love feast, highlighting how interconnected these two people are with one another. Furthermore, the man s predicament refers back to Harwood s time in that women were expected to act in a certain prim manner, and to be a lover to a man in a status below her would taint her reputation ... • 37. Psychedelic Rock In The 1960s The birth of the psychedelic, or as it was sometimes known, acid rock genre was the result of an attempt to sonically stimulate the distorted perceptions experienced while under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs such as mescaline, psilocybin and LSD. The term psychedelic had begun to be applied to a few bands already in the early 1960s, with the Grateful Dead making their record debut in the spring of 1967. By 1966, garage bands were exposed to the first media coverage of LSD and, in some cases, may have had a band member who actually used LSD. Soon their song lyrics moved from passing references to more vivid descriptions of psychedelic experience (Johnson Stax, 2006, p.414). It was LSD which would have the greatest influence on ... • 38. Analysis Of Forrest Gump The film Forrest Gump uses a lot of information and historical events and expresses them using aesthetic techniques such as sound, cinematography, editing, etc. The director Robert Zemeckis uses form to explain the overall meaning of the film specifically with symbolism from popular phrases and gives visual examples throughout the story. The beginning of the film starts with Forrest sitting on a bench at a bus stop. A lady walks over and sits down next to him and begins to read her book as he introduces himself to her. He then offers her some chocolate that she quietly declines. Forrest then says, My mama always said that life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you re gonna get . This phrase shows meaning to the entire film because Forrest is always led to a new thing or event in life that had no relation to the last. Zemeckis place this scene strategically at the beginning and it helped set up the rest of the story. Forrest is seen a few different times during other parts of the film with boxes of chocolate. This first scene is also the beginning of where Forrest starts to tell his life story. The director uses a diegetic narraration by Forrest to lead the story. He continues to talk even if the person sitting next to him on the bench has changed. The box of chocolates line resembles how Forrest sees life differently. He grew up being told by his mother on what he should and shouldn t do to help him get through life. He had the mind set of doing any opportunity that came to him. He did all kinds of incredible things such as playing on a college football team, joining the military, starting a shrimp business, etc. Editing can be shown during the historical events that Forrest participates in such as when African Americans were accepted to his school. The effect was in black and white to show an older scenario. The best use of cinematography was at the very beginning with the feather before the box of chocolates line. The camera follows the feather as it floats down towards the ground. The camera angle is positioned with a close up on the feather and with a blurry Forrest on the bench in the background. The feather then lands on his shoe where he picks it up to place inside his Curious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
