Jazz Music In West Side Story And Romeo And Juliet
In my essay I am going to bring up three different topics. How jazz music makes West Side Story
be evocative of the decade in which it was written, how gang related music would change West
Side Story and Romeo and Juliet, and further how different Romeo and Juliet would be if they
would of sang rather than spoke their soliloquy. Each of these topics has gang related actions and
how music defines the gangs.
In West Side Story both Acts 1 and 2 are mostly instrumental, allowing suspense to form in each
scene. In the 1950 s, gangs are growing more and more. With West Side Story being in New York,
there were the Jets and the Sharks. Jazz music help bring out the actions in each of the two gangs
and helps bring out each of the characters and shows who they really are. In Tonight, the
characters are reflecting on their hopes and dreams. Bernstein crafted the music to mirror the
visions of each character. Jazz music helps build suspense in many scenes in West Side Story, for
instance, in The Gangs Fight in the Street, the music starts to become allegro and the snaps of
their fingers build the suspense even more. The jazz helps show the differences in each gang and
how their actions are like that of the sounds of jazz orchestra. West Side Story also has classical
and pop music played throughout it, and at certain instances all three can be heard together. At the
very end of the musical, the music become piano; and the hurt and anger from Maria is radiated
from the music choice.

Roman Catholic Church
The Protestant Reformation was to Christianity what the Civil Rights movement was to African
Americans. During the 16th century, the Catholic Church exploited humans by making salvation
from God a market, or system, in which one could earn salvation by financial contribution, or
confessing one s sin to a priest. Salvation is a gift, granted by God, to be received by faith alone.
Using the common themes theory, this paper will expound on the problem the Roman Catholic
Churchposed on the Roman Empire, by corruptly managing acceptance into God s graces, the
solution Martin Luther employed to resolve the problem, and the effects of his solution. Looking
at the problem the Roman Catholic Church posed on the Empire in the early 16th century is a
twofold problem. First, this paper will look at the economic problem. Leo X, the pope of the
reformation period, lived an extravagant lifestyle, indulging in the arts and fancy banquets, and he
was the executive of an ambitious effort to erect the St. Peter s Cathedral (Reston 7). That, coupled
with his luxurious lifestyle, taxed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That leads into the second problem in the common themes theory, the exploitation of human rights
through indulgences. Indulgences are rendered by a priest, yet licensed by the Pope, for the
forgiveness of the punishment of sins, through financial contribution or good works (Cunningham,
Reich, 327). The aim of the indulgences sold during the papacy of Leo X, lessened the amount of
time one would spend in purgatory (Harris, Zucker). Purgatory is a holding cell for people, who
have committed sins, and are held there until they sit their time, and the pope has the keys to the
holding cell (Harris, Zucker). This is where the undermining of human rights erupts. Does the pope
have the authority to prescribe a financial offering that will dictate someone s eternal

Introduction
Distance learning is a study technique introduced in the late 19th century to help aid those that
were unable to reach formal forms of education systems.it is also referred to as e learning derived
from the use of the internet to convey the syllabus and distance education. It is characterized by the
physical state of teacher student relationship that is affected by the geographical separation and in
some situations also time separation. Ideally distance learning is normal learning only in a non
conventional manner. It is mostly offered by established institution thus the materials used for the
traditional method of learning are similar to those used in the program only that it may be
customized to fit the virtual learning. It is highly appreciated by full time workers seeking to be

through the accessibility of digital reading resources ,podcasting, email linked group discussions,
chat rooms and test taking functional virtual classroom while web based services revolves around
the accessibility of physical tutors for employee with the institution controlling the contact. Usually
the tutor is part of the institution and is also certified by the institution before a referral is made and
the student takes up the curriculum of the institution despite their geographical location. This
program merges perfectly with the conventional modes of learning as it is subjected to scrutiny by
the same agencies that verify the traditional learning modes. It uses the same standards as the
traditional modes to implement its studies as well as equip its trainees with the same knowledge.

BUSI561 Legal Issues in Business
Discussion Board Forum 2: Contracts BUSI561 Legal Issues in Business November 10, 2013
Analysis of the Situation Let me begin by assessing the current situation and relationship with Don.
Don and I met because of our individual desires to walk with Christ. We developed our friendship
that eventually evolved to a business relationship; we are both small business owners. Our business
venture started under favorable circumstances consistent with implied duty of faith and fair
dealings. According to Kubasek, Brennan, Browne (2012), an implied contract is formed by
conduct of involved parties rather than written or spoken words. That was exactly the case between
us. Don would place routine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second, my son s authority to sign on behalf of the company should be considered. An employer
may grant employees the following authorities on its behalf: express authority, actual authority to
execute certain agreements; implied authority, the nature that an employee s position implies
certain power; and ostensible authority, an employee s authority as it appears to a third party due
to representation (Buchanan Law, 2008). I did not give my son express authority to enter into
agreements on behalf of the company. His position as a part time deliveryman should not imply
or should not be perceived as having any authority to contract. Lastly, six elements have to be
present for a contract to be enforceable: legal offer, legal acceptance, consideration, genuine assent,
competent parties, and legal objective. Although some of these were met, some were not. I believe
Don unethically manipulated the situation and deceived both my son and I. Nolo Legal
Encyclopedia (n.d.)listed some instances where a contract can be found unenforceable in the eyes
of the law. These include: Lack of Capacity, my son did not have the ability to understand exactly
what he was agreeing to or what the implications would be; Misrepresentation, Don did not spell
out exactly what the contract was when he asked my son to sign it. Instead he misled him by
stating it was just formality to guarantee continued

NEOPLASIA
Presented by Dr Abudu Emmanuel Kunle (MBBS, M.Sc, FMCPath) Senior Lecturer and

Neoplasia means the process of new growth whilst Neoplasm means a new growth. Sometimes, the
parenchyma cells stimulate the formation of an abundant collagenous stroma, referred to as
desmoplasia. Some tumours e.g. some cancers of breast are stony hard or scirrhous. Sarcomas
have little connective tissue stroma and so are fleshy. Pseudo tumours: i) An ectopic rest of normal
tissue is sometimes called a choristoma e.g a rest of adrenal cells under the kidney capsule or a

Cancer stem cells and cancer cell lineages: cancer stem cells are cells within the tumour that have
the capacity to initiate and sustain the tumour. 3) Local invasion: Benign tumours are usually
encapsulated except haemangioma while malignant tumours can locally invade and destroy the
adjacent tissues. Next to the development of metastases, invasiveness is the most reliable feature
that differentiate malignant from benign Tumours. Carcinoma in situ is best seen in tumour of
skin, breast, cervix, vagina, in which display the cytologic features of malignancy without invasion
of the basement membrane.

4) Metastasis: metastases are tumour implants discontinuous with the primary tumour. All
cancers can metastasize except those of glial cells in CNS (Gliomas), and basal cell carcinoma
of the skin but they are locally invasive. Pathways of spread: i) Seeding of body cavities and
surfaces: esp. carcinoma of ovaries and sometimes mucus secreting appendiceal carcinoma fill the
peritoneal cavity with a gelatinous neoplastic mass referred to as pseudomyxoma peritonei. ii)
Lymphatic spread: is the most common pathway for the initial dissemination of carcinomas, and
sarcomas as well. The pattern of lymph node involvement follows the routes of lymphatic drainage.

Symbols In Romeo And Juliet
We all know the names Romeo and Juliet. A symbol of tragic lovers, but right now lets focus on
the character that is Romeo. In William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare uses
dramatic irony, character foil, and monologue to define Romeo as a character. As I said before
almsot everyone knows Romeo loves Juliet, but in the beginning of the story he loved a girl
named Rosaline. Romeo was extremely depressed that she didn t love him back. We can see
some of this behavior here, This love that thou hast shown Doth add more greif to too much of
mine own. (Page 18 lines 188 189) The auidence already knows that Romeo will fall in love with
Juliet, making this dramatic irony. We can see that Romeo seems to be a bit dramatic, and falls in
love fairly easily and quickly. Also we are shown that he values his own wants because he is being
a downer around his friends, and only talks about Rosaline. This would be considered hedonism....

We can see his major differences between him and his friend Benvolio. Benvolio is a kind,

Romeo seems impulsive and childish around him, as seen here Ben: At thy good heart s opression.
Rom: Why, such is love s transgression. (Page 18 Lines 184 185) With these two mixed we have a
character foil. Benvoilos enjoyable personality highlights Romeos unpleasent

Complicated Relationship Between the Federal, State, and...
The relationship between the federal government of the United States and the state and local
governments is unique. This relationship in the modern age has become more interconnected and
complicated than ever before. The weaknesses of American Federalism has never been as glaringly
obvious as it was in the response by state, local and federal governments to the devastation of
Hurricane Katrina. Failures by multiple elected officials and government agencies exacerbated an
already dire situation by delaying much needed aid to the gulf region. This, combined with a
fundamental misunderstanding of the physical geography of the region, led to policies that
weakened the coastline and made New Orleans extremely susceptible to hurricane damage.... Show

Federal agencies failed to respond to multiple attempts by both private and public institutions to
warn of the possibility of a large scale disaster spurred by a land falling hurricane. An independent
study financed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and completed more than
a year before Katrina, found that New Orleans was the U.S. city most susceptible to hurricane
damage. FEMA elected to take no further action than to circulate the results of the report to the
organization. Some think this may have been worsened by the decision to place FEMA under
Department of Homeland Security, which decreased funding and restricted natural disaster
response resources.
The federal government also failed the gulf region in the policy decisions made concerning the
management of natural resources in the area and the effect on its physical geography. One of these
programs was called the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet or MRGO. The purpose of this project was
to provide an economic boost to the region by increasing river traffic, and also aid in the
recurring flood water issues in the Mississippi Delta Region. A byproduct of the project was that
it increased the flow of water south to New Orleans. Government subsidies were given to
companies drilling in the New Orleans region for oil and natural gas even though this was causing
the city to slowly

managers, especially CIO is in the best position to involve and communicate with employees. The
CIO must hire senior management who can communicate with IT employees and educate them. IT
organizational structures must be centralized, understandable and moderate.
Outline a project selection process for AgCredit to ensure alignment with the enterprise business
vision.
Organizations should be careful and select the projects they decide to continue from between
many opportunities. Apparently, there is no simple decision. The consequences of poor process
and decision could be expensive and irrecoverable. A number of useful projects are existing to
managers liable for measuring possible business needs. AgCredit s CIO must know that his job is
getting harder and must also connect with people at all levels of the organization. New enterprise
ideas must be delivered quickly and directly connected to measures of business development. All of
these developments provide an idea of how the business people and business process work each
other and provide more understandable process which would make business process more vigorous

What Is Dynamic Nature Of MIS Infrastructure
Justification
Dynamic Nature of MIS infrastructure
A good MIS infrastructure should support operations and business continuity, with a tested backup

Third, virtualized computing, creating multiple virtual machines on a single physical machine to
maximum its usage.
Many suppliers of cloud computing are working hard on sustainability. For example, Google data
center experiments with different cooling technology and found that having server rack that is
buddied with an air conditioning unit, helps cool down the servers. Moreover, the cooling
mechanism is a series of coils with water. As hot air rises from the servers, the water absorbed
the heat thereby cooling down the serves. The warm water gets cooled down when it flows
outside the data center, and the cool water flows into the server room to cool down the racks again.
Innovation is prevalent at Google data center, and it aims to reduce carbon offsets.

Field Programmable Gate Array ( Fpgas )
ABSTRACT:
Placements of logical blocks in FPGA use many optimization algorithms in heuristic manner. Main
objective is to provide minimization in wire length during the task placement inside Reconfigurable
FPGAs, which will decrease the area, power and delay and increase the speed of execution.
Optimization algorithms are applied in the Benchmark circuits and the results are compared. Due to
the technological advancement, density of the devices increases so that necessitates improvement
in minimization of wire length. Hence this project, proposes an optimum solution for wire length
minimization.

but she thought that he didn t know the answer and wanted to ask his sister instead. This is an
example of an abbreviation that might lead to confusion and misunderstanding in our
conversations. Tweeters and texters try to refine sentences into a few characters, and this results
in excessive use of abbreviations which makes it inevitable to miss some important information.
Using initials of a word or totally different characters to form a shorthand acronym is unreliable
and confusing. David Crystal wrote in his article that No texter is entirely consistent and no two
texters use identical conventions (245). Someone who text CYA (see you) in a text message will
most likely pronounce it the same way as his text, making it an unclear and unpleasant phrase for
the listener. Critics say abbreviations save us time, and there is no connection between how we

The Debate About Censorship
The Debate about Censorship
Censorship, the control of the information and ideas circulated within a society, has been a
characteristic of dictatorships throughout history. In the 20th Century, censorship was achieved
through the examination of books, plays, films, television and radio programs, news reports, and
other forms of communication for the purpose of altering or suppressing ideas found to be
objectionable or offensive. There have been assorted justifications for censorship, with some censors
targeting material deemed to be indecent or obscene. Because of this, ideas have been suppressed
under the disguise of protecting three basic social institutions: the family, the church, and the state.

Amendment, the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals reversed this ruling because Paladin provided its

Second, in the 1993 World Trade Centre bombing, Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman and nine followers
were found guilty of violating a law that makes planning to wage war against the government a
crime. Federal prosecutors argued that exhortations to his followers amounted to directing a violent
conspiracy. In 1999, the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said, the Bill of Rights does not
protect an individual who uses a public speech to commit crimes. The court ruled that the First
Amendment did not protect Rahman because his speech was not simply the expression of ideas.
Instead it was used to instruct, solicit or persuade others to commit crimes and violence.

main topics that are discussed when this topic of censorship is brought up: restricts Amendment
Rights, not objective and bias. In Fahrenheit 451, Montag s society has abandoned

arose about what effect he had on the political system after his death. It is incontrovertible that his
rule was one of the turning points in British history, as Cromwell ensured that a king would never
be able to rule on his own.
However, nowhere is Cromwell more associated with fevered anti Catholicism and murder than in
Ireland. Cromwell came to Ireland in 1649 pursuing two objectives: to place the island firmly
under the control of British leaders and to suppress those Royalists who wanted to return to the
status quo, in which English monarchy ruled. Those Loyalists and also Irish Catholics were
especially a thorn in the side of Cromwell, as he believed they were all potential traitors and willing
to help any Catholic uprising that wanted to attack England. Cromwell personified the anti
Catholicism of his time and he believed he was carrying out the orders from God by taming the
Irish. His first target was Drogheda, a town in which he slaughtered thousands of Irish people.

Mislabeling Essay
In the United States, seafood is an important commodity. According to the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the U.S. imported $20.2 billion in edible fishery products in
2014 ( Imports ). With such large quantities of seafood flowing in and out of the country, mistakes
can be made. For decades scientists have called attention to the problem of mislabeled fish.
Although mislabeling fish may seem harmless, it can have devastating health effects on the
consumer, and efforts to prevent mislabeling have increased. In order to combat this problem, the
government should enforce DNA testing on all fish, regardless of whether the fish are imported or
produced domestically. In addition, stricter monitoring of the production process... Show more

under Florida s dog bite statute. On October 31, 2009, around 9:30 p.m., Plaintiff, along with
seven other children came running up to our client s property to trick or treat. Plaintiff ran to the
glass window where owner s dog Beast was. Plaintiff began to pound on the window yelling,
Trick or Treat!! while Beast barked, ran back and forth and jumped around. Our client answered
the door a few minutes after he went to retrieve his hot biscuits from the oven. When our client
answered the door, the kids were screaming Trick or Treat at the top of their lungs. Plaintiff was
dressed up in a cat costume. When our client opened the door, and handed Plaintiff a biscuit,
Beast sprang up from the door and bit off Plaintiff s finger. Our client quickly restrained Beast,
wrapped up Plaintiff s hand along with the severed finger and took Plaintiff to the hospital where
doctors were able to successfully reattach the severed finger. Our client had purchased Beast about

Comparing Pride In Angela s Ashes And The Big Lebowski
Pride is a theme analyzed in Frank McCourt s Angela s Ashes, as well as the Cohen Brother s

Contrary to the assumption of many distinctive characters in the two, humility and subservience

Analysis Of Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bram Stoker s Dracula was written in 1897. This was a time that the Victorian era and its values
were changing and meeting their ends. The male dominant world was evolving to an equal
opportunity society. This meant women were no longer oppressed and limited socially,
educationally, economically, or even sexually. The end of the Victorian era also called for growth
in technology and medicines. Old ideas were diminishing while new ideas of the world were
flourishing. Whether it be the pro femininity, new outlooks, or advances in technological and
medicinal aspects, we can find these concepts portrayed in various ways throughout Dracula. At the
time Stoker wrote the story, they were new ideas and the first time the certain issues were... Show

We see this concept covered in various areas of the story. In Dr. Seward s diary in chapter XI, he
writes, ...the flowers were of medicinal value...What does it all mean? I am beginning to
wonder if my long habit of life among the insane is beginning to tell upon my own brain (Stoker
124). In this entry we have witnessed Dr. Seward continue his ongoing battle to save Lucy from
her sickness. During this time he has been unable to derive a proper diagnosis and normal
treatment has had no positive effects. He has resorted to old superstitions of leaving garlic
flowers and crucifixes in her presence to ward off any evil. We are also introduced to Van
Helsing, another doctor, who for Lucys health is repeatedly performing blood transfusions. Yet
this is another failing medical practice. The idea that modern science cannot stop this monster and
instead he can only be defeated by superstitions and legends, is almost a mock of the Victorian
advancements. This is still a relevant topic today. Medical technology and practice is something
we as humans are forever going to need. Studying a story in the turning point of that growth gives
us knowledge of what beliefs and roots medicine started from. It seems that the story deems
medical science to be useless, but we know that is not true. Another relation to modern day is the
introduction of new faith the story represents. In the story we see signs of

In The Fifth Beginning: What Six Million Years of Human History Can Tell Us About Our Future,
author Robert Kelly brings up interesting points to consider about the beginnings of change in
humanity s past and how this may affect the future. By explaining how archaeologists think and
how the field works is critical in understanding the rest of the book. He tries to debunk to common
misconception that archeology is about digging up things and putting them on display right from
the start. By dividing human historyinto so called beginnings helps to explain how archaeologists
have taken every speck of dirt and rock that seems meaningful to answer our favorite question:

It s like politics, constantly changing and evolving. Kelly explained culture as when humans
became capable of higher and more complicated thought (Kelly, 36). He backed this claim up with
archaeological evidence of changing skull size and the evolution of language, something I find
extremely interesting. What first caught my attention was Steven Mithen s claim that chimps have
all these modules except the linguistic module (Kelly, 39). This fits with reasoning behind the
anatomical evolution of the larynx. With a lowered larynx, human speech patterns are more easily
formed. Kelly s use of Mithen s argument was interesting in furthering his argument that biology
and culture were closer than we would think. Using science to explain culture was not what I was
expecting before reading this chapter, and it was refreshing to see such a new perspective on it. In
a way, the science of culture also helps back up Kelly s definition of culture being constantly

The Elizabethan Poor Law, commonly known as the Old Poor Law, was instituted in 1601 as a
method to manage poor relief in the midst of societal and economic shifts. Since the 1960s
comparative analyses and case studies have been central to a revisionist historiographical
approach. Historians such as A.L. Beier and Paul Slack, following in the footsteps of E.P.
Thompson, reshaped the way that the history of the poor laws was being made in the 1980s
through their use of social history. Their examinations of povertyduring Tudor and Stuart England

It displays the value of social history to the subject by examining vagrants, not simply vagrancy
legislation. With Masterless Men, Beier gave agency to vagrants of the time. As he stated:
Sixteenth and early seventeenth century vagrancy involved more than being poor and rootless. It
was the product of profound social dislocations a huge and growing poverty problem, disastrous
economic and demographic shifts and massive migration and had important political consequences.
Beier s work truly shows the values of examining the context of vagrancy and legislation through a
social lens that captures more than a strict examination of official records. Future scholarship
should continue to focus on the actual context of vagrant life and the political and economic
dimensions of the influence of vagrancy on the ground level. However, Beier s insistence that
historians that focused on demographics were weak is overstated. Beier himself devoted a great
deal of time to demographic shifts in his own text, which makes his own critique questionable.
Demographics are a valuable aspect of the type of social history that can benefit the understanding

first hand account of the oppression faced toward females and the mentally ill, whom were both
shunned in society in the late 1890 s. It is the story of an unnamed woman confined by her doctor

John, the narrator s husband, becomes the main antagonist and a direct reason why she ends up

tragic event that no one thought would happen that took many lives from loved ones to close

lyrics, A new day dawning, comes without warning... . One can interpret based on this factor
that every day is a new opportunity for something tragic to happen. This here is the message that
Billie Joe Armstrong is trying to convey to us all. He wants us to realize that all though we live
happy at times, there is always something dark waiting to approach at any time with
unpredictable outcome. A second example based on this observation can be the terror attack
that happened recently on Friday when a bombing occurred in a London train underground that
injured 30 passengers on board. And furthermore, a second man was arrested a couple days later
due to the fact that he too was also affiliated with the incident as well according to officers. In
addition to the topic, Billie Joe Armstrong states about love and peace and how it s impossible
for such thing like that to occur, What good is love and peace on earth? When it s exclusive? ,
as if he were trying to say that it would have to take a miracle for the world to resolve from this.

Reflection Paper About Travel To America
This year, I went on a 3 week voyage to China and returned to America with plenty of new
knowledge. The following story describes it in detail.
Preface: In our house, we were putting all the gifts, everyday items, etc. in our bulky suitcases. At
that moment, we were ready as a family to drive to Los Angeles and fly in a plane to еЊ—дє¬ then
domestically transfer to 西安. Well, it turns out that the process was going to be exceedingly
harder than I thought. We not far off through the road later in the car, we had to go back and check
something in our house. After checking, I rested in the car, hoping nothing would go out of hand.
Arriving to the massive parking lot garage, we came to park in a spot we rented. Since we could
not find our parking space, we just decided to stumble upon whatever our car fits in and isn t
reserved; though it took ages. We were rushing to the shuttle stop while being stressed out that
we are going to miss both planes. Thankfully, a hotel manager called a taxi to arrive and drive us
to the LAX international airport. Arriving, we handed over $25.00 to the taxi he requested and
appeared 30 minutes before boarding. 30 mediocre minutes later, we were at the point of boarding
our plane. In the plane, I was disappointed by the poor quality of the entertainment. At least it was
only 12 hours and 40 minutes of the boredom. In the plane, it was difficult to lay my hands on a
movie that is worth the watch.

Man vs. Machine Surplus Value output
Within society there has always been producers and consumers, those who work for the benefit of
others to gain in return a medium of exchange of wealth and salary for personal consumption at a
later time. But at what cost of these workers, what of the surplus or rather byproduct of labor that
workers create for capitalists to make economic profit of the workers? Their labor cost, according to
nineteenth century German economist Karl Marx, is then able to be appropriated by Capitalist and
in return allows then for economic profit/growth. This being the root of what we call capital

The more mechanized a firm is in any sector tends to be more profitable than less mechanized ones
in the long run. However the investment in industrializing the workforce would have short term
ramifications of production of the machines, and the cost of human labor to put together the
machine. For instance a company could see a short run decrease in production and sales by their
investment into mechanized systems, however after the production of the machine, the rate of
output and efficiency of a company would be better off and more production then a company that
had not mechanized. We see here that in this day and age the there is a new dominant leader in the
market place is the industrial capitalist. By taking out the human labor and focus on mechanized
labor, firms then have the ability to allocate resources efficiently and effectively elsewhere and
reach a max level of production and profit. What Marx found puzzling about his surplus value
theory, is how do we determine the actual value of the machines? What seemed troubling to Marx
was how could we decipher the labor use of the worker and the capacity of the machines to
maximize production while being able to use incorporate them both so there is
Mos 3 this use of allocated efficiency in the workplace. What makes it difficult is without having
the mechanized labor; the rate of production drops but also decreases the labor force. In that, the
question is posed,

radio we listen to today has a different format, purpose, viewer reach, and clarity than it did before
the 1950s. The radio has survived the threat of the television industry by changing with the times. It
has been dealt with in the law through acts and the creation of the government regulating agency
(FCC). Today the radio is the cheapest and most affective way to communicate with everyone

Along with the ability to connect stations by wire came cultural issues. Americans feared
monopolies. AT T already controlled the telephone business and also had control over the radio
wires. AT T feared that they would lose their telephone monopoly if they did not withdraw from
the radio monopoly. At the same time RCA, GE, and Westinghouse worried about government
interference. These companies were interested in achieving national radio with maximum profit
and minimum public fuss over monopoly (Smulyan 58). In 1926 they solved the problem by
creating a separate broadcast organization that would lease telephone lines from AT T. The new
company was NBC (National Broadcasting System). Now there were two NBC stations that were
operated independently that had coast to coast connections to local stations. The arrangement
pleased the government, the companies, and the public (Vivian 177). Radio was still lacking in
regulations. There were too many stations broadcasting at the same frequencies interrupting each
others broadcasts. This was frustrating for the listeners and the broadcasters. The solution was
the Radio Act of 1927 (Keith 6). This act created the Federal Radio Commission (FRC). The
FRC s responsibility was to license radio stations В‘if public convenience, interest or necessity is
thereby served. The law also stated that the air waves were property of the United States

The Concept of Power Essay
The concept of power is present within various realms of all organizations. Power, however, is not
something that should necessarily be looked at negatively. There are justifiable types of power that
may be important to criminal justice organizations. The main role of power in criminal justice
administration should be to gain compliance from subordinates of all types, and turn that power
over time into acceptable forms of authority(Stojkovic et al., 2008). It is for this reason that power
is an important attribute in criminal justiceagencies. It is important as a criminal justice manager,
and agency as a whole, to have legitimate power. Power that is not coercive and works for the
good of the organization is beneficial in gathering... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essay 2: Max Weber s study of authority gave birth to his division and classification of three types
of authority. These classifications of authority are often used in various roles in criminal justice
administrations. While Weber believed that power and authority are decidedly different concepts,
the two can be used in conjunction, and often are used for categorization within criminal justice
agencies. Traditional, charismatic, and legal authorities are all well defined in the use of authority
by criminal justice administrations. Traditional authority is leadership that is based on the
historical customs of a society or group. Within an organization, traditional authority is based on the
precedented methods of operation that have changed little over time (Stojkovic et al., 2008). In
relation to the criminal justice administration, one may view traditional authority in the form of
commanding power of a warden within a corrections system. The warden is the head of the
hierarchy and operates simply in the way that a warden always has operated. In respect to traditional
authority, things do not change because procedures are based on customs and merely continue as
they always have. Weber s second type of influence is charismatic authority. Charismatic authority is
characterized by a leader with rare personal features that attract others to them. Charismatic leaders
have qualities that are powerful and challenging

and helps them cope with any pain they may have. Pediatric physical therapy and tradition physical
therapy only differ in the age that they work with. Pediatric physical therapists work with children

they receive their job outlook, skills that s needed to be a successful physical therapist, and
qualifications needed for the different job settings. As long as a person is under the age of 21
they qualify for pediatric physical therapy, over the age they then move into traditional physical
therapy. Children at different ages require different types of pediatric physical therapy ( N/IICU,
2012). Newborns require physical therapy to help them breath on their own, or help the baby

Rhetorical Analysis Of Martin Luther King s Speech
In a speech Rev. Martian Luther King Jr. gave to the Riverside Church in New York City, King
conveyed his beliefs on the horrific atrocities currently present in the Vietnam War. King began
by stating that no longer Vietnam was a oversea issues, Vietnam [had to be brought] into the
field of my moral vision . Likewise, King stated the issues at home such as the overwhelming
majority of the nation s poor were fighting in the Vietnam War. In King s mindset, a nation that
held it self on the acclaim that all men are created equal, was in fact not equal. King uses a
variety of persuasive elements including, but not limited to: concrete examples and analysis, a
robust tone, and powerful rhetoric. While King was only one voice out of many of those who
were on both sides of the war, King still managed to change others views about politics through
the usage of his persuasive elements. In all, King posses a natural eloquence that allows him to
spread his message far and wide with the hopes that America will never forget the testatrices that
took place at home and oversea during the Vietnam War. In King s address, King cites many
instances where he finds discrepancies between the involvement of the middle and poor class in
the Vietnam war. One of King s influential ways in which he gets his point across is through
claims backed up by analysis. What King argues is that America would never invest the necessary
funds or energies in rehabilitation of its poor , and instead would rather

The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee was an interracial group formed in 1960 that
intended on ending racial segregation. In 1961 several African Americans were beat and
imprisoned for their continued efforts towards racial non segregation. In 1962 James Meredith
attempted to register for college at the University of Mississippi. White law officials instructed to
defend the African Americanstudent, were assaulted by white mobs. These important events in
history ultimately led to the nonviolent civil disobedience. Ultimately leading up to the Letter of
Birmingham. Martin Luther King Jr. introduced nonviolent civil disobedience in 1963. This was
created since he and other activist were simply tired of waiting for results. King organized massive
civil rights demonstrators to fight against segregation in Birmingham.
The historical events that happened in the 1960 s was the turning point for segregation in American
history. President Kennedy was on board as far as supporting the civil rights movement, but
tragically was assassinated before he could see this plan go into action. President Johnson seen this
movement in action. The many horrible crimes and inhumane acts that whites endured on African
Americans was and is too terrible to mention. However, it was these events that made African
Americans stronger and more determined than ever to become non segregated. It was these events

1.1 Background
An environmental impact assessment for the Queensferry Crossing Bridge has been a topic of
discussion for a while because of the concern about the future of the Forth Road Bridge. The new
cable stayed Queensferry Crossing bridge doesn t aim to replace The Forth Road bridge but co exist
parallel to it.
1.1.2Introduction to Project
In 2009, transport for Scotland submitted the Forth crossing bill , the scheme is being taken
forward in accordance with a policy memorandum. The queens ferry crossing will be built
instead of repairing the current forth road bridge. Repairing the current bridge will take between
7 and 9 years, without an alternative crossing, sustained disruption of traffic will have a
significant effect. The queens ferry crossing will provide two lanes in each direction, replacing
road provisions for general traffic, increased travel growth will need to be satisfied by public
transport.
The estimated cost of the scheme is between ВЈ1.325 ВЈ1.35 billion. New technology will be
implemented for the queen s ferry crossing; it will be more climate resistant than the current bridge.
Key feature of the new bridge include:
Use of the latest, more durable materials
Cables that are easier to replace, replacement can be done during normal maintenance work, the
bridge doesn t get shut

Hubble Space Telescope
The Universe is something that has been explored for years and years. Over time, our
understandings and beliefs on the Universe and our world has changed due to new technologies
and discoveries. The Big Bang Theory is one example of an concept that is actively believed
within the scientific community and has been made well known in our world today. This theory,
which can be used to explain the origin and age of our universe, has been refined over the years
through a reviewing process in the scientific community as more discoveries came in due to new
technological advancements.
Put simply, the Big Bang theory is most supported and believed theory on how the Universe began.

The Hubble Space Telescope is a telescope that was launched into space in 1990, April 24th. Its
primary function was to take pictures of stars, planets, moons, galaxies, etc. This type of
telescope is different from a telescope such as the Hooker Telescope as it is in space, rather than
on Earth, and was used for different things. Over the many years that this extraordinary telescope
has orbited in space, it has helped scientists with many new discoveries and refined previous
theories or beliefs. One of the biggest discoveries this telescope has made is the discovery of
galaxies that we did not know of previously because they were so far away. This discovery was
very important as it has lead scientists to calculating a more accurate age of the universe. The
Hubble Space Telescope made this discovery by observing Cepheid variables, which are stars
with the same average brightness. Although, their brightness is essentially the same, the stars
would seem either brighter or dimmer depending on its position in relation to Earth. For
example, if one Cepheid variable was 100,000 light years away and another Cepheid variable
was 200,000 light years away, the second star would seem dimmer as it is further away from the
Earth and our perspective makes it look like it is not as bright. Scientists can use this
observation to work out around how far away a Cepheid variable, and ultimately a galaxy, is
from the Earth. Using this information and the pictures taken by the Hubble Space Telescope,
scientists were able to work out a more accurate age of the universe which was around 13.75
billion years old. Without this sort of technology, we wouldn t know as much about the universe
as we do now and we may not have been able to refine our knowledge on the age of the universe.
To sum up, the Hubble Space Telescope is an important piece of

What Caused The Bosnian Genocide
The genocide in Bosnia ended in 1995 with a peace agreement which stopped the war. This
peace treaty was negotiated in Dayton, Ohio and signed in Paris. In July of 1996, West forces
Karadzic to quit as the Bosnian Serb president who was in office for roughly four years. The war
in Bosnia created two states: the Serb Republic and the Bosnian Federation. One of the many
struggles that survivors faced were that they did not know where their loved ones met or were
buried. During the genocide, mass barryings were conducted and many loved ones were dislocated
and lost when the government buried all the bodies after the war. In an attempt to cover up the
mass graves, the government dug up the graves and scattered the graves which made it even harder

What Is The Figurative Language In Silk Parachute By John...
Some say when a baby is born, a mother s love is the strongest and most powerful thing in the
world. As the baby grows, the mother s love matures and never waivers. John McPhee
demonstrates this concept of a mother s love in his piece, Silk Parachute. In the passage,
McPhee recalls some of the memories of his childhood and goes into the underlying concept of
an unwavering love from his mother. In Silk Parachute, John McPhee uses the rhetorical devices
of dialogue, parallel structure, and symbolism to prove that no matter what happens, a mother s
love never fails. In this piece, John McPhee does not regularly use direct methods of discussion
to demonstrate his points. As he weaves his way through different methods of figurative
language, one of the modes that he uses is dialogue. In a memory he recalls from the passage, he
states, It is reported that the following dialogue and ensuing action occurred on January 22,
1941: ... I made that sandwich, and you are going to eat it, Mister Man. You filled yourself up
with penny candy on the way home, and now you re not hungry. (4) He uses this dialogue to
give a sense of what his mother was really like and to make her more personable to the reader. He
also uses more dialogue than anywhere else in the paper, on the bad memories side. I believe that
this could be a writerly move of McPhee. As he uses this dialogue in the poor memories side, he
makes the reader focus on the good memories and make her seem more personable.

New Belgium Case Analysis
Introduction
The New Belgium Brewing Company is one of the top three craft beer breweries in the nation. It
has experienced solid growth from its original entry as a niche marketer to a brand that is now
distributed across the country. Much of New Belgium s success is a result of a well developed
positioning strategy that promotes the company s culture as much as its product. Not
coincidentally, New Belgium s target market chooses brands like Fat Tire because of both the
company s culture and its product. Our evaluation of the two New Belgium cases indicates that the
craft beer industry remains an attractive investment for the company, particularly because of its
specific capabilities and resources. The cases also suggest that a ... Show more content on

New Belgium is, however, the third largest craft brewery in the nation, with estimated sales of
over $100 million, equaling approximately 700,000 barrels of beer per year. An analysis of the
craft beer industry as a whole suggests that there is continued growth potential for New Belgium.
Exhibit 5.1 of the New Belgium Brewing (B) case shows that craft beer is the fastest growing
segment of the U.S. alcoholic beverage market, with an increase in market share of over 100
percent from 1999 2011. It is also an industry whose customers tend to be extremely loyal,
making them less likely to view craft beer as a commodity. Consequently, craft beer has a higher
probability of being immune to competition from inferior goods and substitutes. This is
particularly applicable to New Belgium s target market of beer connoisseurs that appreciate the
high quality and taste of craft beer and who include executives, lawyers, and accountants with the
continued ability to pay higher prices for craft beer, enabling the craft beer industry to achieve
gross margins of up to 30 percent (Clark amp; Rogler, 2013).
Four other strengths of New Belgium indicate continued

School Is Bad For Children By John Holt
This nation s best and strongest leaders attended school as children. Leaders such as John F.
Kennedy and Franklin D. Roosevelt ( School House to White House ). Can their success as leaders
be attributed to school? Or would they have been successful without that education? School is
where they were inspired and pushed to their limits. The challenges of studying various subjects,
completing homework, forming new ideas, participating in extracurricular activities, and making
friends are part of the common heritage of an American educationshared by everyone including our
Presidents ( School House to White House ). In John Holt s School is Bad for Children Holt
makes a plea to free children from the classroom (Preface). He outlines several ways that America
s education system is harming children and introduces several ways he believes it can be
improved. Although Holt makes a few logical arguments, his essay lacks credibility and his ideas
to abolish school attendance, to always have paired learning, and to end fixed curriculum (leave
much to be argued)
Holt makes several assumptions and talks of schools that do certain things but he never uses
evidence to back up what he says. This makes his essay less credible because it is only written
from his experiences and his opinion. Holt says, In a school I know of... (Holt 75), ... a number of
schools... (Holt 75), and In many schools... he can t even talk to them at lunch (Holt 73). Who are
these schools? How do we know if

  • 2. Jazz Music In West Side Story And Romeo And Juliet In my essay I am going to bring up three different topics. How jazz music makes West Side Story be evocative of the decade in which it was written, how gang related music would change West Side Story and Romeo and Juliet, and further how different Romeo and Juliet would be if they would of sang rather than spoke their soliloquy. Each of these topics has gang related actions and how music defines the gangs. In West Side Story both Acts 1 and 2 are mostly instrumental, allowing suspense to form in each scene. In the 1950 s, gangs are growing more and more. With West Side Story being in New York, there were the Jets and the Sharks. Jazz music help bring out the actions in each of the two gangs and helps bring out each of the characters and shows who they really are. In Tonight, the characters are reflecting on their hopes and dreams. Bernstein crafted the music to mirror the visions of each character. Jazz music helps build suspense in many scenes in West Side Story, for instance, in The Gangs Fight in the Street, the music starts to become allegro and the snaps of their fingers build the suspense even more. The jazz helps show the differences in each gang and how their actions are like that of the sounds of jazz orchestra. West Side Story also has classical and pop music played throughout it, and at certain instances all three can be heard together. At the very end of the musical, the music become piano; and the hurt and anger from Maria is radiated from the music choice. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Roman Catholic Church The Protestant Reformation was to Christianity what the Civil Rights movement was to African Americans. During the 16th century, the Catholic Church exploited humans by making salvation from God a market, or system, in which one could earn salvation by financial contribution, or confessing one s sin to a priest. Salvation is a gift, granted by God, to be received by faith alone. Using the common themes theory, this paper will expound on the problem the Roman Catholic Churchposed on the Roman Empire, by corruptly managing acceptance into God s graces, the solution Martin Luther employed to resolve the problem, and the effects of his solution. Looking at the problem the Roman Catholic Church posed on the Empire in the early 16th century is a twofold problem. First, this paper will look at the economic problem. Leo X, the pope of the reformation period, lived an extravagant lifestyle, indulging in the arts and fancy banquets, and he was the executive of an ambitious effort to erect the St. Peter s Cathedral (Reston 7). That, coupled with his luxurious lifestyle, taxed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That leads into the second problem in the common themes theory, the exploitation of human rights through indulgences. Indulgences are rendered by a priest, yet licensed by the Pope, for the forgiveness of the punishment of sins, through financial contribution or good works (Cunningham, Reich, 327). The aim of the indulgences sold during the papacy of Leo X, lessened the amount of time one would spend in purgatory (Harris, Zucker). Purgatory is a holding cell for people, who have committed sins, and are held there until they sit their time, and the pope has the keys to the holding cell (Harris, Zucker). This is where the undermining of human rights erupts. Does the pope have the authority to prescribe a financial offering that will dictate someone s eternal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

BUSI561 Legal Issues in Business Discussion Board Forum 2: Contracts BUSI561 Legal Issues in Business November 10, 2013 Analysis of the Situation Let me begin by assessing the current situation and relationship with Don. Don and I met because of our individual desires to walk with Christ. We developed our friendship that eventually evolved to a business relationship; we are both small business owners. Our business venture started under favorable circumstances consistent with implied duty of faith and fair dealings. According to Kubasek, Brennan, Browne (2012), an implied contract is formed by conduct of involved parties rather than written or spoken words. That was exactly the case between us. Don would place routine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Second, my son s authority to sign on behalf of the company should be considered. An employer may grant employees the following authorities on its behalf: express authority, actual authority to execute certain agreements; implied authority, the nature that an employee s position implies certain power; and ostensible authority, an employee s authority as it appears to a third party due to representation (Buchanan Law, 2008). I did not give my son express authority to enter into agreements on behalf of the company. His position as a part time deliveryman should not imply or should not be perceived as having any authority to contract. Lastly, six elements have to be present for a contract to be enforceable: legal offer, legal acceptance, consideration, genuine assent, competent parties, and legal objective. Although some of these were met, some were not. I believe Don unethically manipulated the situation and deceived both my son and I. Nolo Legal Encyclopedia (n.d.)listed some instances where a contract can be found unenforceable in the eyes of the law. These include: Lack of Capacity, my son did not have the ability to understand exactly what he was agreeing to or what the implications would be; Misrepresentation, Don did not spell out exactly what the contract was when he asked my son to sign it. Instead he misled him by stating it was just formality to guarantee continued ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Symbols In Romeo And Juliet We all know the names Romeo and Juliet. A symbol of tragic lovers, but right now lets focus on the character that is Romeo. In William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare uses dramatic irony, character foil, and monologue to define Romeo as a character. As I said before almsot everyone knows Romeo loves Juliet, but in the beginning of the story he loved a girl named Rosaline. Romeo was extremely depressed that she didn t love him back. We can see some of this behavior here, This love that thou hast shown Doth add more greif to too much of mine own. (Page 18 lines 188 189) The auidence already knows that Romeo will fall in love with Juliet, making this dramatic irony. We can see that Romeo seems to be a bit dramatic, and falls in love fairly easily and quickly. Also we are shown that he values his own wants because he is being a downer around his friends, and only talks about Rosaline. This would be considered hedonism.... • 10. Complicated Relationship Between the Federal, State, and... The relationship between the federal government of the United States and the state and local governments is unique. This relationship in the modern age has become more interconnected and complicated than ever before. The weaknesses of American Federalism has never been as glaringly obvious as it was in the response by state, local and federal governments to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Failures by multiple elected officials and government agencies exacerbated an already dire situation by delaying much needed aid to the gulf region. This, combined with a fundamental misunderstanding of the physical geography of the region, led to policies that weakened the coastline and made New Orleans extremely susceptible to hurricane damage.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Federal agencies failed to respond to multiple attempts by both private and public institutions to warn of the possibility of a large scale disaster spurred by a land falling hurricane. An independent study financed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and completed more than a year before Katrina, found that New Orleans was the U.S. city most susceptible to hurricane damage. FEMA elected to take no further action than to circulate the results of the report to the organization. Some think this may have been worsened by the decision to place FEMA under Department of Homeland Security, which decreased funding and restricted natural disaster response resources. The federal government also failed the gulf region in the policy decisions made concerning the management of natural resources in the area and the effect on its physical geography. One of these programs was called the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet or MRGO. The purpose of this project was to provide an economic boost to the region by increasing river traffic, and also aid in the recurring flood water issues in the Mississippi Delta Region. A byproduct of the project was that it increased the flow of water south to New Orleans. Government subsidies were given to companies drilling in the New Orleans region for oil and natural gas even though this was causing the city to slowly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Economic Problems Of The United States Economy Essay Introduction Economics is the science which studies human behavior as a relationship between given ends and scarce means which have alternative uses ( Supplementary sources for college economics, n.d.). It is all about making choices. The United States economy has experienced many ups and downs in its journey with decision making and realizing its economic power. In 1865, when the civil war ended the United States economy experienced extreme development as a result of urbanization and industrialization. It is apparent that the United States economy boarded a difficult journey to ultimately achieve the power it has today ( Industrialization, Urbanization, and Immigration, n.d.). This essay is going to take an in depth look at the seven course objectives which include, the basic economic problems that face the American Society, how businesses make economic decisions, ways people invest money to save for the future, how economic policy affects the individual state, nation, and world, define concepts of macro and microeconomics and how theories relate to current economic issues, explain the economic theories and how they apply to the global economy, and lastly how they enhance managerial decision making processes and abilities. In the 20th Century, censorship was achieved through the examination of books, plays, films, television and radio programs, news reports, and other forms of communication for the purpose of altering or suppressing ideas found to be objectionable or offensive. There have been assorted justifications for censorship, with some censors targeting material deemed to be indecent or obscene. Yet, after his death Cromwell was seen as a tyrant and a king slayer and the people were tired of living under such strict rules. Regarding politics, debates arose about what effect he had on the political system after his death. It is incontrovertible that his rule was one of the turning points in British history, as Cromwell ensured that a king would never be able to rule on his own. However, nowhere is Cromwell more associated with fevered anti Catholicism and murder than in Ireland. Cromwell came to Ireland in 1649 pursuing two objectives: to place the island firmly under the control of British leaders and to suppress those Royalists who wanted to return to the status quo, in which English monarchy ruled. Those Loyalists and also Irish Catholics were especially a thorn in the side of Cromwell, as he believed they were all potential traitors and willing to help any Catholic uprising that wanted to attack England. Cromwell personified the anti Catholicism of his time and he believed he was carrying out the orders from God by taming the Irish. The end of the Victorian era also called for growth in technology and medicines. Old ideas were diminishing while new ideas of the world were flourishing. In this entry we have witnessed Dr. Seward continue his ongoing battle to save Lucy from her sickness. He has resorted to old superstitions of leaving garlic flowers and crucifixes in her presence to ward off any evil. The idea that modern science cannot stop this monster and instead he can only be defeated by superstitions and legends, is almost a mock of the Victorian advancements. This is still a relevant topic today. Medical technology and practice is something we as humans are forever going to need. Studying a story in the turning point of that growth gives us knowledge of what beliefs and roots medicine started from. Man vs. Machine Surplus Theory of Value Output Essay example Mos 1 Steffan J Mos 02/24/13 ISF 100A essay 1 Prompt 1 Man vs. Machine Surplus Value output Within society there has always been producers and consumers, those who work for the benefit of others to gain in return a medium of exchange of wealth and salary for personal consumption at a later time. But at what cost of these workers, what of the surplus or rather byproduct of labor that workers create for capitalists to make economic profit of the workers? Their labor cost, according to nineteenth century German economist Karl Marx, is then able to be appropriated by Capitalist and in return allows then for economic profit/growth. The more mechanized a firm is in any sector tends to be more profitable than less mechanized ones in the long run. However the investment in industrializing the workforce would have short term ramifications of production of the machines, and the cost of human labor to put together the machine. For instance a company could see a short run decrease in production and sales by their investment into mechanized systems, however after the production of the machine, the rate of output and efficiency of a company would be better off and more production then a company that had not mechanized. We see here that in this day and age the there is a new dominant leader in the market place is the industrial capitalist. By taking out the human labor and focus on mechanized labor, firms then have the ability to allocate resources efficiently and effectively elsewhere and reach a max level of production and profit. What Marx found puzzling about his surplus value theory, is how do we determine the actual value of the machines? What seemed troubling to Marx was how could we decipher the labor use of the worker and the capacity of the machines to maximize production while being able to use incorporate them both so there is Mos 3 this use of allocated efficiency in the workplace. • 39. Radio History Joe Clark January 21, 2002 Mrs. Perkins AP U.S. History The radio has evolved over time. The radio we listen to today has a different format, purpose, viewer reach, and clarity than it did before the 1950s. The radio has survived the threat of the television industry by changing with the times. It has been dealt with in the law through acts and the creation of the government regulating agency (FCC). Today the radio is the cheapest and most affective way to communicate with everyone around the world. It began with the invention of the telegraph by Samuel Morse in 1844 and developed as the knowledgeable minds of inventors and engineers worked from the late 1800s to the present to create the powerful communications medium we know today... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with the ability to connect stations by wire came cultural issues. Americans feared monopolies. AT T already controlled the telephone business and also had control over the radio wires. AT T feared that they would lose their telephone monopoly if they did not withdraw from the radio monopoly. At the same time RCA, GE, and Westinghouse worried about government interference. These companies were interested in achieving national radio with maximum profit and minimum public fuss over monopoly (Smulyan 58). In 1926 they solved the problem by creating a separate broadcast organization that would lease telephone lines from AT T. The new company was NBC (National Broadcasting System). Now there were two NBC stations that were operated independently that had coast to coast connections to local stations. The arrangement pleased the government, the companies, and the public (Vivian 177). Radio was still lacking in regulations. There were too many stations broadcasting at the same frequencies interrupting each others broadcasts. This was frustrating for the listeners and the broadcasters. The solution was the Radio Act of 1927 (Keith 6). This act created the Federal Radio Commission (FRC). The FRC s responsibility was to license radio stations В‘if public convenience, interest or necessity is thereby served. The law also stated that the air waves were property of the United States government and renewable licenses would be issued for three year ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are justifiable types of power that may be important to criminal justice organizations. The main role of power in criminal justice administration should be to gain compliance from subordinates of all types, and turn that power over time into acceptable forms of authority(Stojkovic et al., 2008). Essay 2: Max Weber s study of authority gave birth to his division and classification of three types of authority. These classifications of authority are often used in various roles in criminal justice administrations. While Weber believed that power and authority are decidedly different concepts, the two can be used in conjunction, and often are used for categorization within criminal justice agencies. Traditional, charismatic, and legal authorities are all well defined in the use of authority by criminal justice administrations. Traditional authority is leadership that is based on the historical customs of a society or group. Within an organization, traditional authority is based on the precedented methods of operation that have changed little over time (Stojkovic et al., 2008). In relation to the criminal justice administration, one may view traditional authority in the form of commanding power of a warden within a corrections system. The warden is the head of the hierarchy and operates simply in the way that a warden always has operated. In respect to traditional authority, things do not change because procedures are based on customs and merely continue as they always have. Weber s second type of influence is charismatic authority. Charismatic authority is characterized by a leader with rare personal features that attract others to them. Charismatic leaders have qualities that are powerful and challenging ... Over the many years that this extraordinary telescope has orbited in space, it has helped scientists with many new discoveries and refined previous theories or beliefs. One of the biggest discoveries this telescope has made is the discovery of galaxies that we did not know of previously because they were so far away. This discovery was very important as it has lead scientists to calculating a more accurate age of the universe. The Hubble Space Telescope made this discovery by observing Cepheid variables, which are stars with the same average brightness. Although, their brightness is essentially the same, the stars would seem either brighter or dimmer depending on its position in relation to Earth. For example, if one Cepheid variable was 100,000 light years away and another Cepheid variable was 200,000 light years away, the second star would seem dimmer as it is further away from the Earth and our perspective makes it look like it is not as bright. Scientists can use this observation to work out around how far away a Cepheid variable, and ultimately a galaxy, is from the Earth. Using this information and the pictures taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, scientists were able to work out a more accurate age of the universe which was around 13.75 billion years old. Without this sort of technology, we wouldn t know as much about the universe as we do now and we may not have been able to refine our knowledge on the age of the universe. As the baby grows, the mother s love matures and never waivers. John McPhee demonstrates this concept of a mother s love in his piece, Silk Parachute. In the passage, McPhee recalls some of the memories of his childhood and goes into the underlying concept of an unwavering love from his mother. In Silk Parachute, John McPhee uses the rhetorical devices of dialogue, parallel structure, and symbolism to prove that no matter what happens, a mother s love never fails. In this piece, John McPhee does not regularly use direct methods of discussion to demonstrate his points. As he weaves his way through different methods of figurative language, one of the modes that he uses is dialogue. In a memory he recalls from the passage, he states, It is reported that the following dialogue and ensuing action occurred on January 22, 1941: ... I made that sandwich, and you are going to eat it, Mister Man. You filled yourself up with penny candy on the way home, and now you re not hungry.
